Walk The Talk Turning Organization’s Purpose and values into HabitSeta Wicaksana
In "The Four Keys to Becoming a Talent Magnet Organization," Pamela Stroko, Vice President, HCM Transformation at Oracle, states that "what distinguishes talent magnet organizations from everyone else is that first and foremost, they live their values."
They consult values such as trust/character, focus/priorities, engagement, and telling the truth, when making decisions.
Values are lived through talent processes because they touch everyone in the organization.
Values are the "who we are" and "what we aspire to become" and the talent practices and habits in the organization are the how.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. Presentation outline
• Learning outcomes
• What is vision
• What is mission
• How to develop vision and mission statement
• Vision Vs mission
• Importance of vision and mission in teaching and
learning
3. Learning outcomes
• By the end of this session C.Ps could be able to ;
• Develop their understanding regarding vision and
mission statement.
• Differentiate between vision and mission statement.
• Develop vision and mission statement for their
respective schools.
4. Vision
• Vision is a concept, that refers to one’s mental image of
the future. Vision refers to the optimum future state of
affairs that one can imagine for an individual or for an
institution. (Wallace, Engel et al, 1997)
• A vision is an outline of a desired state to be attained
within a specific period, although it is a statement about
an ideal, it is nevertheless expected to be achievable
because it is based on sound understanding of
prevailing conditions together with realistic assessment
of the interventionist capabilities of the organization.’
(Harlech-Jones, n. d.)
5. Example of Vision statement
• Crescent Girls’ School Singapore
• The vision of the Tablet PC program at the Crescent Girls’
School in Singapore is to connect teachers and students with
a systematic and comprehensive use of technology combined
with a rigorous and relevant curriculum and a career
preparation component. Tablet PCs serve as the catalyst in
the transition from traditional learning to a student-centered,
problem solving, project-driven approach that will carry
students well into the next century. Laptops enable learning
to go beyond the school walls and provide access to
worldwide resources. download.microsoft.com/.../1-Plan_MS_1to1_vision-statement.pdf
6. Cont…
• Beaufort County School District South Carolina, United States
• In a voluntary program, students will use notebook computers
in the classroom and at home to expand their learning
opportunities beyond the traditional schoolhouse walls and
beyond the traditional school day, to help them open new
windows on the world. Believing that technology should serve
all, a non-profit community foundation will provide subsidies
to ensure that all students have equal access to computers,
so that participation is based on the desire to learn, not the
ability to pay
7. Mission
• The mission statement of an organization is normally
short, to the point, and contains the following
elements:
– Provides a concise statement of why the organization
exists, and what it is to achieve;
– States the purpose and identity of the organization;
– Defines the institution's values and philosophy; and
– Describes how the organization will serve those affected by
its work.
8. Cont….
• Unlike the vision statement, a statement focusing on
the future, the business mission statement focuses
on the current farm business. The business mission
statement outlines “who we are, what we do, and for
whom we do it.” It provides a concise summary of the
farm business’s purpose. The mission statement
deals with what the farm business is about and why.

9. Example of Mission Statements
•Mission Statement
Our mission is to develop young men with active and creative
minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others,
and the courage to act on their beliefs. We stress the total
development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social,
emotional, and physical. Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart101 Drake's
Corner Road Princeton, NJ 08540
•Community School recognizes that each child is an individual;
that all children are creative; that all children need to succeed.
Therefore, Community School respects the individual needs of
children; fosters a caring and creative environment; and
emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, intellectual
development of each child. Community School 7815 Williamson Rd. Roanoke,
10. How to develop vision
statement
1. Get the right people on the bus
2. Preparation
3. Determine appropriate "input" to the vision.
4. Set the stage.
5. Create and use a process that ensures full participation
creativity, and efficiency.
6. Re-convene the group and review the draft vision
statement.
7. Communicate the vision and begin to make it a reality.
•
11. How to develop mission
statement
• To create your mission statement, first identify your organization's
"winning idea".
• This is the idea or approach that will make your organization stand out
from its competitors, and is the reason that customers will come to you
and not your competitors (see tip below).
• Next identify the key measures of your success. Make sure you choose
the most important measures (and not too many of them!)
• Combine your winning idea and success measures into a tangible and
measurable goal.
• Refine the words until you have a concise and precise statement of your
mission, which expresses your ideas, measures and desired result.
12. Vision vs. Mission
• The vision is more broad and future oriented – the goal on the
horizon
• The mission is more focused – how you will get to the horizon
• A mission statement tells what business you are in and what
products and services you will offer. It is a clear statement of
purpose. A mission statement may last for decades.
• A vision transforms the organization. It provides a picture of
what could be. It is a catalyst that can impel an organization
to move toward that dream. As dreams come true or realities
change, visions change. It is a goal of the highest order.
13. Importance of vision and
mission
• An exciting, inspirational vision
– Challenges and motivates workforce
– Arouses strong sense of organizational purpose
– Induces employee buy-in
– Galvanizes people to live the organization

16. . Food for thought
• If you think of vision and mission as an
organization's head and heart, the
values it holds are its soul.
