This document discusses network routing and routing algorithms. It begins by defining routing as the process of determining the path that data packets will take from a source to a destination across a network. There are three main functions of routing: path determination, switching, and call setup. The document then discusses several common routing algorithm strategies, including greedy, dynamic programming, and divide-and-conquer approaches. It also describes specific routing algorithms like Dijkstra's algorithm, Bellman-Ford algorithm, and Floyd-Warshall algorithm. Finally, it discusses performance metrics for comparing routing algorithms, such as throughput, latency, hop count, bandwidth, and packet loss.
Analysis of Packet Loss Rate in Wireless Sensor Network using LEACH ProtocolIJTET Journal
Abstract: Wireless sensor network (WSN) is used to collect and send various kinds of messages to a base station (BS). Wireless sensor nodes are deployed randomly and densely in a target region, especially where the physical environment is very harsh that the macro-sensor counterparts cannot be deployed. Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchical (LEACH) Routing protocol builds a process where it reduces the Packet Loss Rate from 100 % to 55% .Simulations are carried out using NS2 simulator.
Abstract— A MANETs is a self-configuring network is a collection of mobile hosts that are connected via a wireless link. Opportunistic data forwarding has drawn much attention in the research community of multihop wireless networks. Opportunistic data forwarding is the lack of an efficient, lightweight proactive routing scheme with strong source routing capability. In this project proposed to a lightweight proactive source routing (PSR) protocol. PSR can be maintained at different network topology information than distance vector (DV), link state (LS), optimized link State routing (OLSR), then reactive source routing [e.g., dynamic source routing (DSR)]. Performance analysis on multihop transmission using arp routing protocol in i...eSAT Journals
Abstract
Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) are becoming more and more important in the modern environment. It can be used instantly to connect to the local or remote network without using the pre-existing infrastructure. The mobile or user in the network can together establish the infrastructure. In order to improve the limited range of radio transmission, multiple network ‘hops’ are needed so that the communication between the mobiles can be establish. There are varieties of protocol that had been proposed for the hopping methods but most of them suffer from high overhead. This project proposed a new method of hopping protocol for IEEE 802.11b using the existing network protocol which is Address Resolution Protocol (ARP). The ARP message is used in the network to find the MAC address of the destination. This can also be done by having multi hops where the proposed method using ARP designed will make an intermediate node act as a router in order to find the destination address and forward the data successfully. In this proposed method, the data is directly passed to the intermediate node and the intermediate node will help to find the route to the destination and passed the data to the destination node. This will reduce the transmission time. From the simulation obtained, it proved that the proposed method using the ARP protocol can works well as the existing network protocol which is Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV). The simulation is composed into two types of environment which are with and without obstacles. The throughput, the packet loss and the round trip time for various distances is simulated and the results shows that the performance of the proposed method using ARP is much better compared to the AODV.

In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), multipath routing protocols are more popular due to overcomes the certain limitation of single path routing like lower end-to-end delay, load balancing, energy efficiency and network lifetime. By providing multiple paths between a source-destination pair, multipath routing protocols are avoid such above problems. AOMDV (Ad Hoc On-Demand Multipath Distance Vector) routing protocol is an on-demand multipath routing and which is a relatively maturity and extensive application protocol. It doesn’t consider residual energy and load situation of the node on the time of route discovery process. So AOMDV’s efficiency declines sharply in case of high load and fast moving velocity. To solve the above problems, we propose an improved protocol Energy Efficient- AOMDV (EAOMDV) of AOMDV routing algorithm. EAOMDV is based on a strategy of energy model and load balancing concept. It will consider the residual energy and the load situation of the nodes, when it starts the route discovery phase. After considering the above concept and according to the simulation results, the EAOMDV routing protocol improves the efficiency, the packet delivery ratio and reduces the routing load.
Design A Congestion Aware Routing Algorithm for Synchronous Cam Designijtsrd
The effect of process variation (PV) on delay is a major reason to decay the performance in advanced technologies. The performance of front routing algorithms is determined with or without PV for different traffic patterns. The saturation throughput and average message delay are used as performance metrics to evaluate the throughput. PV decreases the saturation throughput and increases the average message delay. Adaptive routing algorithm should be manipulated with the PV. A novel PV delay and congestion aware routing (PDCR) algorithm is presented for asynchronous network-on-chip (NOC) design. The routing algorithm performs various adaptive routing algorithms in the average delay and saturation throughput for different traffic patterns. A low-power content-addressable memory (CAM) by a new algorithm is proposed for associativity between the input tag and the corresponding address of the output data. The proposed architecture is depends on a recently developed sparse clustered network by utilizing binary connections that on-average eliminates most of the parallel comparisons performed during a search. EFFECTS OF MAC PARAMETERS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF IEEE 802.11 DCF IN NS-3ijwmn
This paper presents the design procedure of the NS-3 script for WLAN that is organized according to the hierarchical manner of TCP/IP model. We configure all layers by using NS-3 model objects and set and modify the values used by objects to investigate the effects of MAC parameters (access mechanism, CWmin, CWmax and retry limit) on the performance metrics viz. packet delivery ratio, packet lost ratio, aggregated throughput, and average delay. The simulation results show that RTS/CTS access mechanism outperforms basic access mechanism in saturated state, whereas the MAC parameters have no significant impact on network performance in non-saturated state. A higher value of CWmin improves the aggregated throughput in expense of average delay. The tradeoff relationships among the performance metrics are also observed in results for the optimal values of MAC parameters. Our design procedure represents a good guideline for new NS-3 users to design and modify script and results greatly benefit the network design and management.
Mobility is one of the basic features that define an ad hoc network, an asset that leaves the field
free for the nodes to move. The most important aspect of this kind of network turns into a great
disadvantage when it comes to commercial applications, take as an example: the automotive
networks that allow communication between a groups of vehicles. The ad hoc on-demand
distance vector (AODV) routing protocol, designed for mobile ad hoc networks, has two main
functions. First, it enables route establishment between a source and a destination node by
initiating a route discovery process. Second, it maintains the active routes, which means finding
alternative routes in a case of a link failure and deleting routes when they are no longer
desired. In a highly mobile network those are demanding tasks to be performed efficiently and
accurately. In this paper, we focused in the first point to enhance the local decision of each node
in the network by the quantification of the mobility of their neighbours. Quantification is made
around RSSI algorithm a well known distance estimation method.

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are attractive as a new communication paradigm. Ad hoc routing protocols for WMNs are classified into: (1) proactive, (2) reactive, and (3) hybrid approaches. In general, proactive routing is more suitable for a stationary network, while reactive routing is better for a mobile network with a high mobility. In many applications, a node in WMN is mobile but it can fluctuate between being mobile. Wireless mesh networks is an emergent research area, which is becoming important due to the growing amount of nodes in a network.

Performance Analysis of Mesh-based NoC’s on Routing Algorithms IJECEIAES
The advent of System-on-Chip (SoCs), has brought about a need to increase the scale of multi-core chip networks. Bus Based communications have proved to be limited in terms of performance and ease of scalability, the solution to both bus – based and Point-to-Point (P2P) communication systems is to use a communication infrastructure called Network-on-Chip (NoC). Performance of NoC depends on various factors such as network topology, routing strategy and switching technique and traffic patterns. In this paper, we have taken the initiative to compile together a comparative analysis of different Network on Chip infrastructures based on the classification of routing algorithm, switching technique, and traffic patterns. The goal is to show how varied combinations of the three factors perform differently based on the size of the mesh network, using NOXIM, an open source SystemC Simulator of mesh-based NoC. The analysis has shown tenable evidence highlighting the novelty of XY routing algorithm.
Performance Evaluation of Routing Protocols in University Networkijtsrd
In an enterprise network, multiple dynamic routing protocols are used for forwarding packets with the best routes. Therefore, performance of the network is based on routing protocols and the route redistribution is an important issue in an enterprise network that has been configured by multiple different routing protocols in its routers. So, aim of the system is to analyze the performance and comparison of different Interior Gateway routing protocols. Routing is depended on many parameters critical such as network convergence time, Ethernet delay, throughput, end to end delay, jitter, packet delivery, security and bandwidth, etc. In this paper, the analysis of characteristics and the performance of the different routing protocols as Routing Information Protocol RIP , Open Shortest Path First OSPF and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol EIGRP are evaluated in a university network. The performance evaluation are based on end to end packet delay, network convergence time, packet delay variation and administrative distance, etc. The analysis focuses on the performance of the routing protocols with its routing table in a simulator. The Simulation software can be used to evaluate and compare the performance of the routing protocols. The simulator return the routing table for each node or router in the university network which would contain the best path to reach the remote destination on the metric chosen based on the routing protocol implemented. The simulation software give results used to evaluate the performance of routing protocols, the performance of different routing protocols will be compared, and to analyze the convergence time and administrative distance of routing protocols. An Enhanced DSR Protocol for Improving QoS in MANETKhushbooGupta145
Ad hoc network is a network without centralized administration in which different users can communicate and exchange information. In such a structure, all the nodes participate in order to achieve the network and ensure the travel of the information. Hence, multihopping techniques are used to achieve this task. The communication reliability within an ad hoc network and how the different nodes act are managed by routing protocols. Nowadays, different types of protocols exist. Nevertheless, the source routing ones, based on information known at the source of the communication, seem to attract more studies. Source routing protocols had shown interesting results in realistic scenarios in areas such as military battlefields or airport stations.
This Paper deals with DSR Protocol and is focused on the multipath aspect of this routing protocol. Since, it is necessary to understand that multipath techniques enhance reliability and can ensure security. We have simulated a new multipath algorithm. The solution had been evaluated with the network Simulator 2. Since we want to know how our protocol reacts in different mobility cases, the random waypoint model which allows us to present relevant results, due to the fact this situation is taken into account.
Simulation results show that the multipath protocol behaves better than DSR, the main actual reactive protocol. The Proposed protocol MSR performs well in high mobility by using much less overhead than DSR. Additionally, it is interesting to see that DSR without any modifications manage poorly in high mobility situation.
