The Controversial Trials Of Julius And Ethel Rosenberg
A quick definition. Spy a person who secretly collects and reports information on the activities,
movements, and plans of an enemy or competitor (Google.com). Example: Julius and Ethel
Rosenberg. Their loyalty resided not with their native country, the United States of America, but with
a completely foreign nation, the Soviet Union. It was one of the most controversial trials of the 20th
century. A man, Julius Rosenberg, and his wife, Ethel, both accused of conspiracy to commit
espionage. Some argued that they were innocent of all charges laid against them. Others declared them
guilty without question. Though the Rosenbergs were executed in 1953, the verdict of their guilt was
still under scrutiny after their deaths. As more evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Langley Field, near Hampton, Virginia, was one of the nation s preeminent centers for military
aviation design (Radosh and Usdin). Rosenberg directed these activities along with several others in
order to gain information on military happenings within the United States. The significance of the
work performed by Julius Rosenberg is perhaps best described by his superiors. According to The
Rosenberg File, a book written by Ronald Radosh and Joyce Milton, Soviet official Nikita
Khrushchev remembered overhearing Vyacheslav Molotov tell Joseph Stalin that the Rosenbergs had
vastly aided production of our A bomb and that they had provided very significant help in accelerating
the production of our Atom bomb (xi). Julius Rosenberg provided crucial information about the
Manhattan Project as well as other atomic energy programs of the United

Leonard Shelby s Use Of Narrative Techniques In Memento
Memento is one of the more unique mainstream films of the 2000s. In this film, we see the
protagonist, Leonard Shelby, in search for the man who raped and killed his wife. This is no typical
detective tale as Leonard s investigation is complicated by his anterograde amnesia, which he
develops from a blow to the head. Leonard cannot make new memories, which makes remembering
new facts about the murder impossible. As a result, Leonard relies on an extensive photograph record
and tattoos of facts about the case to stay focused on his investigation. Even with his methods,
Leonard is not able to keep up with all new information. Consequently, he is manipulated by a corrupt
cop (Teddy) who eventually tells Leonard that his wife did not die in the attack, and that he had
actually killed his wife s killer long ago but forgot about it. As a result of being manipulated, Leonard
writes on a picture of Teddy that He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The backward story telling implemented in Memento leaves the audience disoriented as the audience
experiences events without knowing the causes of those events (because Leonard s short term memory
forgets the causes of the event that takes place). The narrative structure of Memento truly accentuates
the condition of Leonard. Furthermore, the editing of certain sequences further disorients the audience
because the sequence of events is edited to fit the character of the fragmented mind of the protagonist.
Thus, the editing helps to reveal the mindset of Leonard. Finally, the color changes experienced from
certain scenes to other scenes highlight Leonard s forgotten parts of the story being told, which, again,
further complicates and disorients the audience to fit the disoriented protagonist. All in all, certain
elements of film can tell interesting and non traditional stories. No film can better exemplify this fact

DATA COLLECTION METHODS
Methods of data collection.
The term data means groups of information that represent the qualitative or quantitative attributes of a
variable or set of variables. Data are typically the results of measurements and can be the basis of
graphs, images, or observations of a set of variables. Data are often viewed as the lowest level of
abstraction from which information and knowledge are derived.
Data can be classified into primary and secondary data. In order to carry out research on a particular

In contrived observation, the respondents behaviour is observed in an artificial environment, for
example, a food tasting session.
Personal
In personal observation, a researcher observes actual behaviour as it occurs. The observer may or may
not normally attempt to control or manipulate the phenomenon being observed. The observer merely
records what takes place.
Mechanical
Mechanical devices (video, closed circuit television) record what is being observed. These devices
may or may not require the respondent s direct participation. They are used for continuously recording
on going behaviour.
Non participant
The observer does not normally question or communicate with the people being observed. He or she
does not participate.
Participant
In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being investigated.
Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races) where
researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices of that
culture. It has a very extensive literature, particularly in sociology (development, nature and laws of
human society) and anthropology (physiological and psychological study of man). Organizations can
be viewed as tribes with their own customs and practices.
Advantages
1)Helps capture the behavior of customers directly.
Disadvantages;
1)Time consuming and costly exercise.
2) Personal biasness of investigators will distort the findings.

The Importance Of Physical Activity
The use of pedometers and tracking tools for physical activity has allowed me to measure my energy
expenditure per day though tracking my steps, calculating the duration of physical activity completed
per week and analyzing the intensity and the type of activity I engage in. There are specific guidelines
set out for all age groups to attain the goal of the exercising while increasing the levels of intensity and
decreasing sedentary behaviors . This reflection will outline tips and tricks to staying active and
reducing sedentary activity. I will identify the facilitators and barriers to exercising through the
analyses of my physical activity log while highlighting the strengths and weakness of my physical
activity habits. Exercise overtime will improve current fitness; it will increase Cardio respiratory
fitness and muscular fitness, decrease the risks associated to chronic disease and improve mental
health.1
Being a student, I am aware of the commitment to completing my school work and attending all of my
classes in the University. Unfortunately, this result to more sedentary activity then I would like. I
attend three classes a day that vary in length, but accumulates to five hours a day of sitting, this does
not include the time spent studying and completing assignments. I spend an average of a minimum of
three to six hours per day studying aside from going to class, this contributes to eight to eleven hours
per day of sedentary activity. The average time adults spend in

Neutral Bathrooms In Schools
In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea that
would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the school
board in hopes of getting it actually implemented into the high school. My group was made up of
roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding gender neutral bathrooms to the
school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my friends.
I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose between two
incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and stressful. The
bathrooms would help not only me and other nonbinary students, but also binary transgender students
who feel uncomfortable or unsafe in the other bathrooms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

students deserved to have special privileges , they didn t want to expose people to transgender
students, they thought that cisgender students would use the bathrooms in order to have sex, they
thought that if a person was truly transgender, then they should be able to use their gender s bathroom
without a problem. There was a lot of ignorance and transphobia flying around that made writing our
proposal and plans difficult. We had to address everyone s issues with the idea, and I admittedly had a

Complete Cleansing An old crow perched on the uppermost battlements of the enormous black stone
castle. Its wise eyes gazed out at the surrounding scenery, giving the impression that it had ruled the
castle for eternity. In the courtyards and rooms below the wizened crow, the silence ruled so heavily
that it could almost be heard. Nothing had set foot within the gates in many, many years. A heavy
curse lay on the blackened stones of the might fortress, and no living thing dared venture within the
crow s watchful gaze. Jason stepped out of the woods and studied the fearsome fortress, which loomed
on a hill, many yards above his head. Jason wore a long dark coat, which barely managed to conceal
the hilt of a long sword hanging at his belt. His bright blue eyes shone out from beneath his curly dark

dash for the tower and trying to barricade himself in, but the idea flickered and died as soon as it
appeared. Completely silent, the black shadows glided quickly towards him. They blended in perfectly
with the jet black stone walls, making them difficult to see. Jason drew his sword, nervous about his
chances. Realizing that he couldn t let all twelve of them converge on him at once, he started running
towards the tower. As he d anticipated, the shapes swerved to cut him off. The first one bore down on
him swifter than the wind. Jason blocked the first blow, and then sliced strait through the shadowy

Why Is Balance Control Important
How Important Is Ankle Proprioception for Balance Control in Sport Performance and Injury
Abstract
Balance control improvement is one of the most important goals in sports and exercise. Better balance
is strongly positively associated with enhanced athletic performance and negatively associated with
lower limb sports injuries. Proprioception plays an essential role in balance control, and ankle
proprioception is arguably the most important. This paper reviews ankle proprioception and explores
possible links with balance control, specifically in a sport context. Central processing of ankle
proprioceptive information, along with other sensory information, enables integration for balance
control. Care must be taken when assessing ankle proprioception to ensure that the method used has
ecologically valid and allows proprioceptive signals to be integrated in the central nervous system and
reflects the signal noise nature of central processing. Ankle proprioceptive intervention concepts
driven by the central processing theory are further proposed and discussed for the improvement of
balance control in sport.

The relationship between poor balance control and heightened injury risk was identified 30 years ago.
In 1984 Tropp et al. (17) found ankle injuries were almost 4 times more prevalent in soccer player
with poor balance comparison to those with normal balance ability. Similarly, Watson (18) found
hurdling athletes and Gaelic football plays with poor balance had nearly twice as many ankle injuries
relative to their counterparts with normal balance. In addition, balance ability was found to be
significantly associated with ankle injury risk in both younger male and female basketball players
(19). A recent systematic review summarized the available evidence and suggested that poorer balance
ability is an intrinsic factor associated with increased ankle injury risk

What Is American Realism
Realism: The Argument, American Literary Examples, and a Common Misconception For many
people, being able to relate to a story can be integral in whether or not they have actually enjoyed it;
though in more extreme cases, it might be the only criteria necessary for one to enjoy it. Frankly, this
is why the realism movement in nearly all media has been so successful. To best describe realism,
however, is that it s an argument in writing that tries to relate to an event or concept in real life to
illustrate the kinds of topics that would be found in literature. One part of the realism movement that is
incredibly important for the maturation of the argument, however, deals with American Literature in
the late 1800 s; the literary landscape changed after the Civil War out of analysis of the lives

The realism behind this story originates from the analysis of what s being processed through the
unnamed man s mind as he slowly perishes in the Klondike frontier. The thoughts of being able to
survive and meet his crewmates back at base camp all the way top his dying thoughts, including
killing the dog (he doesn t go through with it) so that it doesn t have to suffer a similar fate (London
1814 1822). While it may not be the case for everyone who suffers from similar conditions (as humans
tend to differ in terms of interpreting their surroundings), it does make a good approximation of how
one person would realistically take to conditions like what s in To Build a

Life Of Pi And Heart Of Darkness
If one was let go from society for a few days would he/she be able to keep with their morals? And
once one came back from being isolated would they be the same? Self identity is a state of mind in
which individuals recognize qualities about themselves that set them apart from other people. Self
identity is usually expressed in novels for the reader to relate to the characters and their emotions. Life
of Pi by Ang Lee and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad are two books that depict Self identity.
Both characters face challenges as they want to fit in with society, but once they are isolated both
realize they need to be themselves, and not what others say. The faith and the journeys Marlow and Pi
hold changed their identities for the better or in Marlow s case, the worse.
Faith is the sum and substance of life. Without faith, humans cannot achieve anything. If one was to
observe all the greatest idea s carried out in this world, one would find faith was the sole purpose.
Look at Pi from Life of Pi, he was first enlightened by Hinduism; however, he discovers many more
religions as he gets older. He becomes enlightened by Christianity and Islam. Pi s religious curiosity
creates anxiety in his family. It was tough for them to grasp why he practiced various religions.
However, this did not stop Pi from staying faithful. This faith is put to test when he spends over 200
days stranded on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean with an orangutan, a zebra, a hyena and a tiger named

to the fact that the new coaches never gave me a chance to be on the team and I was once again faced

Ethics Of Care Ethics Paper
In 2013, Swift stated a clear majority of Americans (58%) say the drug should be legalized (1). Within
the past three years this number has increased. The Ethics of Care is related to this concept because it
has to do with taking a look at what is right and wrong. This system also takes a look at equality
within all. The development to sanction weed reflects the generally late accomplishment of the
development to legitimize gay marriage, which voters have likewise endorsed now in 14 states. Open
support for gay marriage, which Americans additionally overwhelmingly restricted before, has

The Ethics of Care stands for an attempt to change moral intelligent talk from the usual focus on
justice rights, and fairness, to another system that merges clearly feminine qualities for example
focusing too much on relationships, kindness, and the communication between and those for who they
take care of. John Tronto argues that the definition of the term ethics of care is confusing due in part to
the lack of a central role it plays in moral. He argues that moral is engaged with human goodness, then
care would appear to assume a big role in this type of way of thinking. However, this is not the case
and Tronto further stresses the association between care and naturalness . The last thing just

role of the woman. So, care loses the power to take a central role in moral

Improving Quality And Standards Of Health Services
A recent study, by Baur, Fehr, Mayer, Pawlu Schaudel (2011) concluded that the growing demand in
health sector, resulted in rapid change in patients expectations. As a result, meeting patients
expectations, while maintaining standards and quality of healthcare service has been the crucial part in
health sector. However, maintaining the service standards does not only refer to increasing the number
of health professionals. Providing optimal care service to the patient, also contributes hugely in
improving quality and standards of health service. Taking this thing in consideration, in 1994,
continuing medical education (CME) programme was launched and it gradually broadened to cover
professional education. Hence, in 2000, CME programme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Narrative-The Battle Of Linton Hollow
I am in mourning and shock. For twenty days, the hen house in my backyard lay under siege in what
became known as The Battle of Linton Hollow. Night after night, the chickens cowered in fear as
hungry predators circled their coop searching for ways to get at them. By day, my wife and I mended
holes in the fencing and set traps, but in the end, there was nothing we could do to save them. It s hard
to admit, but we were simply outwitted by a craftier, more relentless, superior intelligence. The
varmints that struck down our chickens one by one could have taught Colonel Sanders a thing or two
about finger licking good. Once they honed in on the hen house location, and tasted the first chicken,
there was no keeping them out of the buffet line. The final casualty count read seven chicken lunches,

We did not skimp or plan it that way. In fact, we were excited when we first built the coop; we were
proud of our handiwork and thought any chicken would be honored to have such a great place to live.
Little did we know varmints were lurking in the shadows licking their lips and laughing at us.
However, the twenty day siege taught us a few things about design, and as result, come spring, our
backyard chicken coop will undergo major renovations. Galvanized hardware cloth will replace the
old 19 gauge chicken wire top to bottom. Rolls of 18 inch galvanized razor wire will cover the top of
the coop, and overlapping electric fencing will wrap around the perimeter of the coop and repel
onslaughts from the sides. The new design also calls for a four foot wide moat surrounding the
enclosure. Of course, both raccoon and opossums are excellent swimmers, but a wet varmint climbing
over electrified fencing is about as good as it gets when it comes to turning a hungry determined

Problem Analysis
Ben s Omnicrons Pty Ltd is a company with a highly functional organizational structure. The
managers and employees of six different departments are focusing too narrowly on their own tasks,
performing them in isolation without comprehending previous and subsequent steps outside their
functional silos , therefore losing the sight of the whole picture of the larger business process (Magal
amp; Word, 2009). Lack of sufficient communication leads to lack of consideration of workers from
each functional group to their consequences for the other components of the process. The company
had never put much effort and time into developing streamlined, computer based and IT utilized
business process. The overwhelming reliance on paper based manual methods to get things done has
resulted in the insufficient coordination of the whole value chain.

Child Labor During The Second Industrial Revolution
During the Second Industrial Revolution many people were getting jobs because of the growing
industrialization. By the mid 1800 s child labor started to be a major issue. Child labor became a
bigger issue once machines in factories replaced hand labor. Starting in Britain and spreading
throughout Europe and North American many new business and factories started to open. When the
factories started to open they needed more workers for cheap labor. During the Industrial Revolution
child labor increased because of the need for cheap labor, the new inventions and technologies, and
the lack of workers. During the Second American Revolution there was a major increase in the use of
child labor. One of the main reasons child labor increased was because of cheap labor. On a typical
day the children were forced to work from sunrise to sunset. They worked eleven to twelve hours per
day, six days a week. Throughout the day they would get less than one hour for a break. On average
they earned about a dollar every week. Some of the children that were employed were as young as five

In the United States the healthcare system is influenced by the cost and the quality of services
delivered to its citizens. The cost in healthcare refers to the services rendered, production or actual

Have you ever wanted to be in the Olympics? The Olympics started in 776 B.C. in Ancient Greece.
When only men could participate in the Olympics because they would get fit and they fought naked in
some of the games. Women could not compete or watch. Also they did some exotic games that we don
t have today. Some of the games are Discus, it is where you have a disc and you are in a ring and
throw it as far as you can throw. Also they had wrestling which they don t have now, but back then
they were naked and had oil all over them. Another game was running like the stade race, which was

another running event was the diaulos (two stades 400m foot race), dolichos (ranging between 7 and

Analysis Of The Harvest Gypsies By Steinbeck
The bare land of California faced severe drought under the scorching sun, precious crops are harvest
ready, scarcely diminishing without any growers around. However, a group of benevolent nomads
approaches this dying land in hopes of living among it and healing it. Migrants from all around the
world travel across countries, borders, and vast terrain. California, being a famous location today in
the United States, is also set to be the heaviest drought environment with very large farmlands. This
land would have deteriorated, but it was healed in the most mundane way, agricultural farming.
Steinbeck introduces the mere impact that these migrants they ve had in the country, but in most cases,
it s not seen like that. In The Harvest Gypsies , Steinbeck writes a deliberate passage to assure that
these migrants are not of the country s problem. He denounces prejudice views among them, includes
the issues they face with the law, incorporates their unprecedented arrival, and alludes California s
importance in migrant labor for agricultural economics. Near the beginning of the passage, Steinbeck
s technique is to use specific word choices to imply that most residential views on migrants/gypsies
are prejudice. They are often a part of: This hatred of the stranger that occurs in the whole range of
human history (2). Steinbeck uses hatred of the stranger to tap into a sort of knowledge of history.

Philadelphia Descriptive Writing
After a long boring plane trip with my mom, dad, and grandma, we arrived at Philadelphia. We found
a nice hotel and stayed in a small town nearby. Philadelphia is the sight of hundreds of historical sights
and is the second largest city on the east coast. The hustle and bustle of Philadelphia affected my mom
but when we found Pat s King of Steaks we had a delicious lunch, and dinner was eaten at a Phillies
game, downtown. The next day we drove around all the historical sights like Independence Hall, and I
finally got to see the Liberty Bell! However, others don t like Philadelphia because of the traffic and
crowds. Leaving Philadelphia was sad but the next part was supposed to be more fun. The area around
Philadelphia is supposed to be beautiful, and it was. We drove through Lancaster and spent a night in
York. In conclusion, the historical sights and locations were the highlights of Philadelphia and the
country around Philadelphia was beautiful as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gettysburg was the sight of the bloodiest battle in the western hemisphere. When we arrived, we
lodged in a hotel that sat on the location of the climax of the battle of Gettysburg, Pickett s Charge. We
then wandered around the sites of battle like Little Round Top, Culp s Hill, Cemetery Ridge and the
Peach Orchard learning a lot about the battle. The shops and museums around the city have a lot of
cool things in them. The museums were the best part, but my mom thought it was the shops. One
museum had the largest military diorama in the Unites States, and one shop had the most military
items I ve ever seen. All in all, Gettysburg had much history and great shops and

Harshness Of Life In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
On February 27, 1902, in Salinas County, California, an American Novelist named John Steinbeck
was born. He had an early appreciation for the land, in particular, California s Salinas Valley, which
would be a big impact on his writing later on. Steinbeck s life is very similar to the book he would
write, Of Mice and Men, which takes place in his hometown Salinas, and also has the same theme of
Steinbeck s life. Steinbeck experienced harshness in his life, drifting out of schools for six years until
he dropped out for good. There are many themes found in the novel Of Mice and Men by John
Steinbeck, but the most significant theme is the harshness of life, which frequently appears and
develops throughout the novel.
The harshness of life theme is shown right at the start of the book with two examples. The first
example appears on page five when Lennie tries to cover up killing a mouse to George. George sees
that Lennie is holding something and when he asks what it is, Lennie says Jus a dead mouse, George. I
didn t kill it. Honest! I found it. I found it dead (5). This proves the harshness of life because Lennie
could not control what he wanted. And in life, in order to succeed and live a good life, you are going
to have to be able to control what you want. Another example of the harshness of life occurs when
Lennie was talking about him petting the mice and how it s not under his control to stop it. He says I d
pet em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead
(10). This is a great example of the harshness of life because it shows killing. Lennie kills the fluffy
animal, but he did not want to. Steinbeck shows with these two examples that harshness of life doesn t
have to include only human beings, it also can be animals.
The reason why George and Lennie travel together is in fact because of the harshness of life. When
George is talking to Slim about Lennie and how they are together now, he says, I turns to Lennie and
says, Jump in. An he jumps. Couldn t swim a stroke. He damn near drowned before we could get him
(40). George was being a jerk to Lennie and ended up having to save his life. This is a big harshness
of life because George was a jerk to

What Is Exxonmobil Operates A Successful Total Quality...
To fully grasp the concept of total quality, one must first understand or define quality.
Quality in my view is meeting or exceeding customer expectation in terms of products and services

Total quality on the other hand is an approach to doing business that attempt to maximize an
organizations competitiveness through the continual improvement of the quality of its products,
services, people, processes and environments. in this project, i will be discussing the process by which
ExxonMobil operates under to maintain a successful total quality program in all of their products.
Over the last 125 years ExxonMobil has evolved from a regional marketer of kerosene in the U.S. to
the largest publicly traded petroleum and petrochemical enterprise in the world.

My Interviews About the Game of Soccer Essay
I decided to conduct my Field Assignment Interviews at a park near where I live. The park is Pacific
Hills Park, the park has many different features, such as a soccer field, jungle gyms and people come
and walk their dogs. I decided to ask questions during a few different soccer games over the weekend.
The reason I choose the park is because it s close to my house and there are always soccer games in
the park. I don t know too much about soccer and wanted to get some information about the soccer
experience.
Before walking down to the park I made sure I was prepared with my introduction a few questions

questions I may want to ask as well. They all were kind and wished me luck in the class.
The lesson I learned from the assignment was to make sure to be prepared before going up to someone
and start asking them questions. This is true in the business world as well. You have to make sure you
are prepared in meetings and conference calls in order to conduct business. If I was to just wing it and
walk up to these people without having and introduction they probably would not have giving me the
time of day. I have to say that I did have to be patient and listen. I have a tendency to interrupt people
before they are done talking, which is not a good or polite thing to do. What I learned from our
reading in chapter two this week is that good listeners are liked by others because they satisfy the
basic human needs of being heard. The listening factor for this assignment was listening for
information in search of facts about the questions that I was presenting to them.
When I was finish I was learned that I wasn t embarrassed to talk to people that I didn t know. Going

Islamic State Of Iraq And The Levant
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
Terrorism, what is it and is this a new phenomenon? No, terrorism is not a new 21st century issue.
Terrorism actually dates back to biblical times and has haunted nations and their citizens much like it
has here in the United States of America. The history of terrorism is as old as humans willingness to
use violence to affect politics. The Sicarii were a first century Jewish group who murdered enemies
and collaborators in their campaign to oust their Roman rulers from Judea. The 21st Century is being

In February 2004 the group killed 150 people in simultaneous attacks in Baghdad and the Shiite holy
city of Karbala during the Ashura festival (Friedland 2015). The JTWJ in 2004 officially became an
affiliate with Al Qaeda and their well known leader Osama Bin Laden. At this point in time the group
adopted the name Al Qaeda in the Land of the Two Rivers (the Tigris and the Euphrates). Also known
as the Al Qaeda in Iraq or AQI. The AQI and Abu Musab al Zarqawi developed a different technique
of warfare that separated them from the Al Qaeda that fought in Afghanistan. This Al Qaeda in Iraq

of Jihad to enforce Sharia law in the State of Iraq. Abu Musab al Zarqawi was killed in 2006 by a

The Death Of Cartoon Television Tv Show
As a long time fan of classic, nostalgia filled cartoons of the 80 s, 90 s and early 2000 s it s sad to say
the days of Saturday morning cartoons have been laid to rest. Or rather abruptly terminated would be a
better way to put it. The death of cartoon tv TV show blocks has been tucked away in the box of many
young children (mainly of the male demographic) right next to infrared peripherals, and chewed up
and worn action figures that accommodated them. Though unlike many dying forms of media, the
influence of Saturday morning cartoons still continues. First things first, modern cartoons have
difficulty embodying the same type of in depth, adult themed, bro mantic adventures that older
cartoons thrived off of. Take for example the original Transformers series. A group of ultra intelligent,
sentient robots escape their crippling homeworld of Cybertron in order to seek out the much needed

Abolishing The Death Penalty
The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is a practice done by governments where a
person is put to death for breaking certain laws. The death penalty has been used since ancient times
as a way to punish lawbreakers and deter others from committing the same crime. As modern times
approached, however, there have been large debates within countries as to whether or not they should
continue using the death penalty or completely abolish the practice. People all over the world argue
about if it is a good way to punish to terrible criminals and stops others from committing horrible
crimes, or if it is a practice that can cause innocent people to wrongly be sentenced to death and
enforces the prejudiced police system. As of December 2017, ... Show more content on

However, the phrase worst of the worst does not have a set definition and people s opinions on what is
evil vary greatly from person to person. One article about the morality of capital punishment
expresses, Depending on how you think about death...you might oppose the death penalty on the
grounds that it is disproportionately harsh perhaps you think that no matter what someone has done,
she does not deserve to die for it, (Howard). Both sides are trying to argue that their stance is morally
just because everyone has a different set of morals, so it is not best to use morals as the basis for their
discussions. Additionally, states that use the death penalty do not have strict regulations on what the
worst of the worst really is, which leads to more changes in what types of crimes warrant the death
penalty, which then can lead to more executions. For example, Arizona s history with the death
penalty shows how our lack of understanding of what types of people should be sentenced to death
can lead to the practice being applied arbitrarily. In 1973, Arizona adopted a law which states that
prosecutors had to prove that a criminal did one of six aggravating factors do warrant them being
sentenced to death. Since then though, Arizona has more than doubled their number of factors to
fourteen (Tribe). This is a problem known as aggravator creep and it is where if a change or exception
is made, more and more will

Modern Revolution Research Paper
Intro: The world has seen drastic changes throughout its history, from micro bacteria, dinosaurs, and
eventually humans. No change has been as large or as fast as the modern revolution. In the short time
of 200 years we have gone from a dark, electricity stripped world to a world were we can travel in
outer space, have instant connection from around the world, and extend the average life expectancy.
Although the modern revolution has been a dominantly positive force, it has its flaws and down sides.
Overall, the modern revolution has been a positive force on the world because of disease prevention,
complex inventions, and increased literacy.

Vada Sultenfuss In My Girl

girl experiencing middle childhood with her best friend, Thomas J (Zieff, 1991). This paper will cover
the following points, identity and self esteem, gender roles and sexuality, and dealing with death in
middle childhood.
Identity and self esteem
According to Erik Erikson s eight stages of grief, the main character is in stage four, industry versus
inferiority. Between the ages of five and twelve, industry versus inferiority occurs. During this time if
the child cannot develop a specific skill he/she feels society is demanding then the probability of
experiencing feelings of inferiority is highly likely (Sigelman and Rider, 2015).

bargaining, depression, and acceptance. There is not a set amount of time for any stage, a stage may be
skipped or repeated, and a person may stay suspended in one stage (Sigelman and Rider, 2015). Vada
experiences death twice during the movie, with her mother and her best friend.
Vada s mother died from complications of giving birth to Vada. Vada is stuck in the stage of
depression because she believes she is at fault for her mother s death. Through the first half of the
movie, Vada is so sure she is dying that she has become a hypochondriac. She takes herself to the
doctor to let him know she is dying. She lays on the floor writhing in false pain and dying. Vada feels
so guilty about causing her mother s death, that she feels she needs to be punished. The ultimate
punishment for Vada would be her own death. The expression of her feelings and her father s
willingness to listen and explain might have propelled Vada through the stages and on to

society in which they are located, rejecting it s most important values and norms and endorsing their
opposites. As surfers began to express themselves more and more freely throughout the 1950 s and

They would create little gimmicks that would further classify themselves as authentic and a bizarre
breed. The Brown eye became a common sight to be seen around beach cities and surf spots, as surfers
would intentionally pull down their trunks and show their backsides to fellow surfers and the onshore
crowd. This however spread to the inter cites and by 1959 1960 in beach towns and the L.A basin, cars
passing by with a youth s bare posterior framed in the side window were a common sight (Irwin 22).
Although their attitude was indeed a huge aspect in labeling the surf community as a counter culture,
it did not stop there. Their personal image changed as they began to dress in a way unconventional to
society thus creating a distinction from others. Now at this point of the paper, we need to look at
another view of the surf counter culture in order to examine both sides of its complexity. Kristin
Lawler believes that the thriving capitalism that came post WWII had a huge effect on the growth and
direction in which the surfing counter culture took place. The counter culture of the 1960s was
welcomed by capitalist, who had already been getting pretty hip and countercultural themselves
(Lawler 6). With the surfing community identified as rebels to surrounding society, capitalism saw a
need to supply these groups of radical individualists with products that were suitable to their lifestyle.

from the nationalist Freikorps of the post Great War period, the SS owed its loyalties to Hitler alone
and was neither conceived as, nor permitted to become a mass movement. Heinrich Himmler who was

The Second Amendment And The Fourteenth Amendment Essay
Out of the Twenty Seven Amendments in the American Constitution, the first ten known as the Bill of
Rights, are arguably the most important to the American people. With the exception of the thirteenth
and the fourteenth Amendments abolishing slavery and making ever persons born or naturalized in the
United States a wholesome member of the United States and under the protection of the Constitution.
The fourth Amendment is clear as it defines The right of the people are to be secure in their persons,
houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no
warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, particularly describing
the place to be searched, and the person or things to be seized. (U.S Const., amend. IV.) The fourth
Amendment is the most important tool and most commonly used Amendment in law enforcement
today. It is a like a double edged sword sometimes when dealing with criminals and their illegitimate
activity. Even though they are criminals and what they are doing is breaking the law, they too have
rights that protect them from the government and their grasp. All of the cases that are brought before
the Supreme Court for another look at the case are because the defendant believes their rights have
been violated. When dealing with people and their personal effects, the words used can be very
difficult to fully comprehend without any legal guidance. The question here is what is the

Communism And Fall Of Communism
What is Communism ? Communism according to Cambridge dictionary can be defined as: the belief
in a society without different social classes in which the methods of production are owned and
controlled by all its members and everyone works as much as they can and receives what they need. .
Communism is gotten from the Latin word communis common, universal. It s a financial and social
framework in which all (or almost all) property and assets are altogether claimed by a raunchy society
and not by individual residents. The goal is to make it a classless society, and there s less gap between
the poor and the rich. Communism took place mainly in Russia, China, Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea

Several books have been written on the subject matter. I like to zero on the motivation behind those

why can t they recognize the word enough? Or see the limit? Is it really necessary that they have to go

Indoor Air Quality And Environmental Health Essay
Indoor Air Quality and Environmental Health Indoor air quality (IAQ) refers only to the quality of the
ambient air in an interior environment. On average, people spend well over half of their time inside,
and research has shown that indoor air in buildings can be more contaminated than outdoor air. The
majority of people that work in non industrial buildings such as offices, schools, and hospitals are
exposed daily to poor IAQ. Indoor air pollution (IAP) continually ranks among the top five
environmental risks to public health. Therefore, IAP is a critical factor of the safety and well being of
the population. This paper explores IAP in context, the health risks related to poor air quality, the
burden of disease from household air pollution, guidelines for environmental infection control in
healthcare facilities, and how to improve IAP. Indoor Environmental Quality Indoor environmental
quality (IEQ), comprises the quality of a building s environment concerning the wellbeing and health
of those who occupy the space. Many factors contribute to the IEQ such as air quality, lighting, and
damp conditions. People usually experience symptoms or health conditions from exposures to
contaminants while they are indoor. One of the reasons why IEQ is a primary concern is because some
people that experience symptoms while indoors usually get better when they are not in the building.
Indoor environments are incredibly complex, and building occupants may be exposed to a variety of

Comparing Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed to the Idea of a...
Greek and Roman cultural values pervaded the Western religious society and made it possible for a
series of Christian and Muslim religious individuals to be associated with historic figures present in
Ancient Greece and Rome. While the modern society has a different understanding of the concept of
the traditional hero, society during the early centuries perceived heroes as being individuals who
possessed a series of attributes related to religious ideas and to a general attitude that promoted moral
behavior. Individuals like Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed have come to be seen as having
several attributes that linked them to the idea of the classic Greek hero.
It is surely surprising that religion has adopted a pagan Greek term with the purpose of trying to
describe some of its most notable figures. It is not necessarily that Augustine de Hippo and
Mohammed were considered to possess superhuman abilities, as people came to associate them with
heroes because they were dedicated to assisting the masses and because they were predisposed to
doing good.
In addition to being perceived as one of the most important attributes in a saint, heroism actually
started to be praised by Christians as one of the principal qualities in any true Christian. Augustine de
Hippo basically believed that in order to be seen by God as a person who was capable to serve
divinity, the respective individual needed to be familiar with the attitudes that he or she needed to put
across and with the fact

  • 2. The Controversial Trials Of Julius And Ethel Rosenberg A quick definition. Spy a person who secretly collects and reports information on the activities, movements, and plans of an enemy or competitor (Google.com). Example: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Their loyalty resided not with their native country, the United States of America, but with a completely foreign nation, the Soviet Union. It was one of the most controversial trials of the 20th century. A man, Julius Rosenberg, and his wife, Ethel, both accused of conspiracy to commit espionage. Some argued that they were innocent of all charges laid against them. Others declared them guilty without question. Though the Rosenbergs were executed in 1953, the verdict of their guilt was still under scrutiny after their deaths. As more evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosenberg directed these activities along with several others in order to gain information on military happenings within the United States. • 3. Leonard Shelby s Use Of Narrative Techniques In Memento Memento is one of the more unique mainstream films of the 2000s. In this film, we see the protagonist, Leonard Shelby, in search for the man who raped and killed his wife. This is no typical detective tale as Leonard s investigation is complicated by his anterograde amnesia, which he develops from a blow to the head. Leonard cannot make new memories, which makes remembering new facts about the murder impossible. As a result, Leonard relies on an extensive photograph record and tattoos of facts about the case to stay focused on his investigation. Even with his methods, Leonard is not able to keep up with all new information. Consequently, he is manipulated by a corrupt cop (Teddy) who eventually tells Leonard that his wife did not die in the attack, and that he had actually killed his wife s killer long ago but forgot about it. As a result of being manipulated, Leonard writes on a picture of Teddy that He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The backward story telling implemented in Memento leaves the audience disoriented as the audience experiences events without knowing the causes of those events (because Leonard s short term memory forgets the causes of the event that takes place). The narrative structure of Memento truly accentuates the condition of Leonard. Furthermore, the editing of certain sequences further disorients the audience because the sequence of events is edited to fit the character of the fragmented mind of the protagonist. Thus, the editing helps to reveal the mindset of Leonard. Finally, the color changes experienced from certain scenes to other scenes highlight Leonard s forgotten parts of the story being told, which, again, further complicates and disorients the audience to fit the disoriented protagonist. All in all, certain elements of film can tell interesting and non traditional stories. No film can better exemplify this fact than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My group was made up of roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding gender neutral bathrooms to the school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my friends. I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose between two incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and stressful. In the courtyards and rooms below the wizened crow, the silence ruled so heavily that it could almost be heard. Nothing had set foot within the gates in many, many years. A heavy curse lay on the blackened stones of the might fortress, and no living thing dared venture within the crow s watchful gaze. Jason stepped out of the woods and studied the fearsome fortress, which loomed on a hill, many yards above his head. • 9. Why Is Balance Control Important How Important Is Ankle Proprioception for Balance Control in Sport Performance and Injury Abstract Balance control improvement is one of the most important goals in sports and exercise. Better balance is strongly positively associated with enhanced athletic performance and negatively associated with lower limb sports injuries. Proprioception plays an essential role in balance control, and ankle proprioception is arguably the most important. This paper reviews ankle proprioception and explores possible links with balance control, specifically in a sport context. Central processing of ankle proprioceptive information, along with other sensory information, enables integration for balance control. Care must be taken when assessing ankle proprioception to ensure that the method used has ecologically valid and allows proprioceptive signals to be integrated in the central nervous system and reflects the signal noise nature of central processing. Ankle proprioceptive intervention concepts driven by the central processing theory are further proposed and discussed for the improvement of balance control in sport. Introduction ... Similarly, Watson (18) found hurdling athletes and Gaelic football plays with poor balance had nearly twice as many ankle injuries relative to their counterparts with normal balance. In addition, balance ability was found to be significantly associated with ankle injury risk in both younger male and female basketball players (19). A recent systematic review summarized the available evidence and suggested that poorer balance ability is an intrinsic factor associated with increased ankle injury risk ... What Is American Realism Realism: The Argument, American Literary Examples, and a Common Misconception For many people, being able to relate to a story can be integral in whether or not they have actually enjoyed it; though in more extreme cases, it might be the only criteria necessary for one to enjoy it. Frankly, this is why the realism movement in nearly all media has been so successful. To best describe realism, however, is that it s an argument in writing that tries to relate to an event or concept in real life to illustrate the kinds of topics that would be found in literature. One part of the realism movement that is incredibly important for the maturation of the argument, however, deals with American Literature in the late 1800 s; the literary landscape changed after the Civil War out of analysis of the lives Americans started leading post bellum towards the beginning of ... And once one came back from being isolated would they be the same? Self identity is a state of mind in which individuals recognize qualities about themselves that set them apart from other people. Self identity is usually expressed in novels for the reader to relate to the characters and their emotions. Life of Pi by Ang Lee and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad are two books that depict Self identity. Both characters face challenges as they want to fit in with society, but once they are isolated both realize they need to be themselves, and not what others say. The faith and the journeys Marlow and Pi hold changed their identities for the better or in Marlow s case, the worse. Faith is the sum and substance of life. Without faith, humans cannot achieve anything. If one was to observe all the greatest idea s carried out in this world, one would find faith was the sole purpose. Look at Pi from Life of Pi, he was first enlightened by Hinduism; however, he discovers many more religions as he gets older. He becomes enlightened by Christianity and Islam. Pi s religious curiosity creates anxiety in his family. It was tough for them to grasp why he practiced various religions. However, this did not stop Pi from staying faithful. He had an early appreciation for the land, in particular, California s Salinas Valley, which would be a big impact on his writing later on. Steinbeck s life is very similar to the book he would write, Of Mice and Men, which takes place in his hometown Salinas, and also has the same theme of Steinbeck s life. Steinbeck experienced harshness in his life, drifting out of schools for six years until he dropped out for good. There are many themes found in the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, but the most significant theme is the harshness of life, which frequently appears and develops throughout the novel. The harshness of life theme is shown right at the start of the book with two examples. The first example appears on page five when Lennie tries to cover up killing a mouse to George. George sees that Lennie is holding something and when he asks what it is, Lennie says Jus a dead mouse, George. I didn t kill it. Honest! I found it. I found it dead (5). This proves the harshness of life because Lennie could not control what he wanted. And in life, in order to succeed and live a good life, you are going to have to be able to control what you want. Another example of the harshness of life occurs when Lennie was talking about him petting the mice and how it s not under his control to stop it. He says I d pet em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead (10). This is a great example of the harshness of life because it shows killing. Lennie kills the fluffy animal, but he did not want to. Steinbeck shows with these two examples that harshness of life doesn t have to include only human beings, it also can be animals. The reason why George and Lennie travel together is in fact because of the harshness of life. When George is talking to Slim about Lennie and how they are together now, he says, I turns to Lennie and says, Jump in. An he jumps. Couldn t swim a stroke. • 29. The Death Of Cartoon Television Tv Show As a long time fan of classic, nostalgia filled cartoons of the 80 s, 90 s and early 2000 s it s sad to say the days of Saturday morning cartoons have been laid to rest. Or rather abruptly terminated would be a better way to put it. The death of cartoon tv TV show blocks has been tucked away in the box of many young children (mainly of the male demographic) right next to infrared peripherals, and chewed up and worn action figures that accommodated them. Though unlike many dying forms of media, the influence of Saturday morning cartoons still continues. First things first, modern cartoons have difficulty embodying the same type of in depth, adult themed, bro mantic adventures that older cartoons thrived off of. Take for example the original Transformers series. A group of ultra intelligent, sentient robots escape their crippling homeworld of Cybertron in order to seek out the much needed (hyphenate to words that form an adjectiveresource of Energon. Upon finding Earth, our heroes the Autobots are attacked by the evil Decepticons only to crash land and wake up thousands of years later in the year 1984. • 30. Abolishing The Death Penalty The death penalty, also known as capital punishment, is a practice done by governments where a person is put to death for breaking certain laws. The death penalty has been used since ancient times as a way to punish lawbreakers and deter others from committing the same crime. As modern times approached, however, there have been large debates within countries as to whether or not they should continue using the death penalty or completely abolish the practice. People all over the world argue about if it is a good way to punish to terrible criminals and stops others from committing horrible crimes, or if it is a practice that can cause innocent people to wrongly be sentenced to death and enforces the prejudiced police system. However, the phrase worst of the worst does not have a set definition and people s opinions on what is evil vary greatly from person to person. One article about the morality of capital punishment expresses, Depending on how you think about death...you might oppose the death penalty on the grounds that it is disproportionately harsh perhaps you think that no matter what someone has done, she does not deserve to die for it, (Howard). Both sides are trying to argue that their stance is morally just because everyone has a different set of morals, so it is not best to use morals as the basis for their discussions. Additionally, states that use the death penalty do not have strict regulations on what the worst of the worst really is, which leads to more changes in what types of crimes warrant the death penalty, which then can lead to more executions. For example, Arizona s history with the death penalty shows how our lack of understanding of what types of people should be sentenced to death can lead to the practice being applied arbitrarily. In 1973, Arizona adopted a law which states that prosecutors had to prove that a criminal did one of six aggravating factors do warrant them being sentenced to death. Since then though, Arizona has more than doubled their number of factors to fourteen (Tribe). This is a problem known as aggravator creep and it is where if a change or exception is made, more and more will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No change has been as large or as fast as the modern revolution. In the short time of 200 years we have gone from a dark, electricity stripped world to a world were we can travel in outer space, have instant connection from around the world, and extend the average life expectancy. Although the modern revolution has been a dominantly positive force, it has its flaws and down sides. Overall, the modern revolution has been a positive force on the world because of disease prevention, complex inventions, and increased literacy. The main character, Vada Sultenfuss, is an 11 year old girl experiencing middle childhood with her best friend, Thomas J (Zieff, 1991). This paper will cover the following points, identity and self esteem, gender roles and sexuality, and dealing with death in middle childhood. Identity and self esteem According to Erik Erikson s eight stages of grief, the main character is in stage four, industry versus inferiority. Between the ages of five and twelve, industry versus inferiority occurs. During this time if the child cannot develop a specific skill he/she feels society is demanding then the probability of experiencing feelings of inferiority is highly likely (Sigelman and Rider, 2015). Vada is stuck in the stage of depression because she believes she is at fault for her mother s death. Through the first half of the movie, Vada is so sure she is dying that she has become a hypochondriac. She takes herself to the doctor to let him know she is dying. She lays on the floor writhing in false pain and dying. Vada feels so guilty about causing her mother s death, that she feels she needs to be punished. Surfing- Counter Culture In order to successfully understand the inexplicable surfer s lifestyle as a counter culture to main society, we must first have a greater knowledge of the ingredients that make this culture so different in the views of the social norm. A counter culture as described by Professor Chad Smith in the second week of class is, When subcultures specially stand in direct opposition to the dominant culture of the society in which they are located, rejecting it s most important values and norms and endorsing their opposites. The Brown eye became a common sight to be seen around beach cities and surf spots, as surfers would intentionally pull down their trunks and show their backsides to fellow surfers and the onshore crowd. This however spread to the inter cites and by 1959 1960 in beach towns and the L.A basin, cars passing by with a youth s bare posterior framed in the side window were a common sight (Irwin 22). Although their attitude was indeed a huge aspect in labeling the surf community as a counter culture, it did not stop there. Their personal image changed as they began to dress in a way unconventional to society thus creating a distinction from others. Now at this point of the paper, we need to look at another view of the surf counter culture in order to examine both sides of its complexity. Kristin Lawler believes that the thriving capitalism that came post WWII had a huge effect on the growth and direction in which the surfing counter culture took place. The counter culture of the 1960s was welcomed by capitalist, who had already been getting pretty hip and countercultural themselves (Lawler 6). With the surfing community identified as rebels to surrounding society, capitalism saw a need to supply these groups of radical individualists with products that were suitable to their lifestyle. The Second Amendment And The Fourteenth Amendment Essay Out of the Twenty Seven Amendments in the American Constitution, the first ten known as the Bill of Rights, are arguably the most important to the American people. Indoor Air Quality And Environmental Health Essay Indoor Air Quality and Environmental Health Indoor air quality (IAQ) refers only to the quality of the ambient air in an interior environment. On average, people spend well over half of their time inside, and research has shown that indoor air in buildings can be more contaminated than outdoor air. The majority of people that work in non industrial buildings such as offices, schools, and hospitals are exposed daily to poor IAQ. Indoor air pollution (IAP) continually ranks among the top five environmental risks to public health. Therefore, IAP is a critical factor of the safety and well being of the population. This paper explores IAP in context, the health risks related to poor air quality, the burden of disease from household air pollution, guidelines for environmental infection control in healthcare facilities, and how to improve IAP. Indoor Environmental Quality Indoor environmental quality (IEQ), comprises the quality of a building s environment concerning the wellbeing and health of those who occupy the space. Many factors contribute to the IEQ such as air quality, lighting, and damp conditions. People usually experience symptoms or health conditions from exposures to contaminants while they are indoor. One of the reasons why IEQ is a primary concern is because some people that experience symptoms while indoors usually get better when they are not in the building. Greek and Roman cultural values pervaded the Western religious society and made it possible for a series of Christian and Muslim religious individuals to be associated with historic figures present in Ancient Greece and Rome. While the modern society has a different understanding of the concept of the traditional hero, society during the early centuries perceived heroes as being individuals who possessed a series of attributes related to religious ideas and to a general attitude that promoted moral behavior. Individuals like Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed have come to be seen as having several attributes that linked them to the idea of the classic Greek hero. It is surely surprising that religion has adopted a pagan Greek term with the purpose of trying to describe some of its most notable figures. It is not necessarily that Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed were considered to possess superhuman abilities, as people came to associate them with heroes because they were dedicated to assisting the masses and because they were predisposed to doing good. In addition to being perceived as one of the most important attributes in a saint, heroism actually started to be praised by Christians as one of the principal qualities in any true Christian. Augustine de Hippo basically believed that in order to be seen by God as a person who was capable to serve divinity, the respective individual needed to be familiar with the attitudes that he or she needed to put across and with the fact ...
