Islam And The Religious Beliefs Of Islam
Islam is an extremely pervasive and widely known religion that has greatly affected society and its
independent religious views. The Islam ideology and its numerous ideas rapidly and widely, and
quickly became a prevalent religion with significantly influential aspects and elements. For instance,
its focus on Allah, the Arabic word of God, as well as many other Islam spiritual aspects has taken
effect in many countries, and continues to influence many people as well as the religious ideas of other
spiritual paths. People gravitate towards the concept of how spiritual theory developed from a small,
insignificant community could have so rapidly become a renowned, crucial part of life for much of the
world s population. Retaining its emphasis on an uncompromising monotheism and a strict adherence
to certain essential religious practices,
Islam continues to influence society with its unique elements and divine inspired unity of mankind.
The numerous Islamic trade routes surrounding Mecca served as effective ways of spreading religious
Islam ideas through various routes and courses in which people could record
Islamic spiritual views. For example, in document A, main Islam areas such as Mecca and
Medina are in the center of many main countries and empires, such as the Byzantine Empire
Knight 2 and Persia. Because of Arabia s location, people could come to its Islamic areas by trade, and
see where Islam originated from as well as its diverse religious notions and intentions.

Natural Selection Misinterpretation Paper
In topic 1, the introduction to human uniqueness and social coercion theory, we are introduced to
some of the common misinterpretation behind Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, specifically in
regards to natural selection and survival of the fittest. One of the biggest contributors to this issue is
the lack of exposure to the general public on the overall theory behind these two processes. Instead of
a full detailed explanation about natural selection and survival of the fittest, we are just told that it is
slow and that to be fit means a level of superiority among competition, respectively. Topic 1 revealed
that this is not true, as well as stating that natural selection is about individual risk, benefit and cost is
of the utmost importance(Bingham). Based on this newly found insight from the course, how does
individual risk, benefit, and cost play such an important role in natural selection even though selection
is seen in a population and not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a student, I built a parameter that caused me to believe that an equation or a theory had a set goal to
achieve and must provide a push in order to reach it. Natural selection completely breaks this barrier
due to its passive and ubiquitous nature (True 2016). Natural selection does not evoke any force on
any species to evolve nor does it create genetic variation. The individual, through mutations, risks, and
understanding the benefit allow for the process of natural selection to work. At first, I also questioned
how could an individual s action have anything to do with natural selection. I learned that an
individual s gene does not change, therefore an individual can not adapt (True 2016). Although this is
true, if a deeper look is taken into the world and some of the ways evolution occurs, the individual is
of the utmost importance in causing natural

Descriptive Statistics And Its Impact On The Visualization...
Introduction Statistics, the cornerstone of any empirical study, are the foundation for analyses. In this
instance, descriptive statistics, which are data points that describe the distinct qualities of a population,
will be explored. Descriptive statistics, the first step of analyzing data, allow for the values to be
represented, summarized, and interpreted in a meaningful, but simple, way. Exploring descriptive
statistics may provide for the appearance of a pattern or aid in the visualization of the collective
information; however, researchers are not able to establish conclusions based on these statistics.
Another aspect of statistics is frequency, which is the number of times that each variable occurs during
the study. Descriptive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of the experiment conducted was to determine the correlation, if any, between Texas A M
student alcohol consumption each week and the number of classes missed per week. Given the
abilities and constraints of descriptive statistics, choosing to focus on this type of statistic allowed for
the student to properly view the overall information, since there were many interacting values.
Method
In this study, the participants were randomly selected throughout a two week period (N = 35). The
people were all Texas A M students, ranging from freshman to senior classifications (M = 2.71, SD =
1.07, freshman to senior recorded as 1 to 4). The continuous predictors for this experiment were the
participants ages and how many alcoholic beverages that they said they consumed per week. The
participants had a mean age of of 20.43 (SD = 1.58). The variables in this study were how many
classes a student missed per week, how many hours they were taking, how likely they were to miss
class after a night of drinking, and how enjoyable class was after a night of consuming alcohol. How
likely they were to miss class after a night of drinking and how enjoyable class was the morning after
drinking were rated on a scale from 1 to 10. However, the scale for likelihood to miss class after a
night of consuming alcohol was with 1 being unlikely and with 10 being most likely. Whereas, for the
variable of how enjoyable class was

I ll go get some wine from the cellar! I ll drive you and your mother home .
That was not the reaction I wanted, now I have to break the news to two people. Just then Mr. Wilson
walked out with a bottle of wine, Chateau lador 1943, he noticed me looking at it and said,
We don t have any wine more than 5 years old, we don t age it, and buying it is a fortune. Mama came
then came out holding four glasses, looking absolutely thrilled.
It ll be pretty hard to break the news I thought. Before I knew it we were there. When we got there,
mama got out and ran to papa, but when she saw the soldiers she stopped dead in her tracks. I picked
up the glasses she left in the car,
Ms. Nakijia I am so sorry your father has died of natural causes
No, No this cannot be, husband tell me this is not true! Mama cried
Papa just slightly shook his head and let it drop. Mama started to sob uncontrollably. Mr Wilson
started to head to his car when Papa stopped him,
No, we will drink it in his honor .
Mr. Willson filled all the glasses and I passed them around there was one glass left and papa said,

Lord Fogarty Essay
The first poem I will be discussing is Fellow Being by Lionel Fogarty. Sound techniques such as
consonance are used in this poem to invite the reader to understand how Australia can function as an
unwelcoming home to the Indigenous Australians. Fogarty writes in the poem that The kissing of
winds to trees are the love between aborigines . Through the repetition of the soft drawn out s sound in
the words kissing and trees , the quality of the sound portrays a sense of love and safety. Furthermore,
the word kissing , with its connotations of affection and love, and trees with its inferences of freedom
and life emphasises the connection indigenous Australians had with the old Australia. The reminiscent
style of the poem reveals the inhospitable nature of modern Australia towards Aborigines.
Fogarty also uses image techniques such as metaphors to describe the interdependent nature of the
relationship the indigenous Australians had with the land. By emphasizing this important relationship,
Fogarty reveals the fractured bond that the white Australians forced upon the Aborigines. The phrase
aboriginal is the bread equates the indigenous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of consonance in this poem encourages the reader to view modern Australia as an inhospitable
home for indigenous Australians. Noonuccal describes the Aborigines as, A Semi naked band, subdued
and silent . The alliteration of the soft, drawn out s sound in the words subdued and silent conveys to
the reader an atmosphere of silence and forlorn resignation. In particular, the word subdued , with its
connotations of unresponsiveness and being withdrawn, further emphasises the conflict between the
white and indigenous Australians. This conflict ultimately separated the Aborigines from their land,
resulting in Australia becoming a hostile home for the original

Comparing The New Science Of Leading Change And The Three...
Those who aspire to be good leaders need information and knowledge to guide their employees to
greatness. The Influencer: The New Science of Leading Change and The Three Signs of a Miserable
Job have a wealth of information for leaders as well as their employees to expand their lives and the
way they live it. This paper will compare and contrast the New Science of Leading Change and The
Three Signs of a Miserable Job to show the importance of both books. Additionally, it will give the
rationale behind using the two books in the same course. Lastly, it will outline how a leader can learn
from and use the information in the two books to create a more effective organizational environment.

The Influencer starts by asking the questions, Can I do what s required? and Am I Motivated? This
starting point allows the influencer to assess whether the six source model will be beneficial to the
employees. On the other hand, the Three Signs model aspire leaders to engage their employees;
therefore, benefitting the organization to build a culture of job fulfillment. This book asks managers to
take a self assessment, relating to anonymity, irrelevance and immeasurement. The Three Signs of a
Miserable Job (2007) boasts the first step to reducing job misery lies in understanding the root causes
of a miserable job (p. 220). Comparing the two books shows the benefits to leaders and their
employees. Contrasting the two books will display noticeable differences in achieving their goals.
CONTRASTING THE TWO BOOKS In contrast to The Three Signs of a Miserable Job, the
Influencer summarizes three mistakes which can be made during the six source model. These mistakes
include: fuzzy, uncompelling goals, infrequent or no measures, and bad measures. These mistakes
according to the Influencer (2013) can undermine the influence of the change agents; therefore,
allowing no vital behavior change to happen (p. 16). Due to this factor, The Three Sign of a Miserable

Peripheral Intravenous Device Insertion Is The Most...
Peripheral intravenous device insertion is the most commonly performed invasive procedure in
hospitalized patients, with an estimated 150 million placed each year in North America alone
(Rickard, McCann, Munnings McGrail, 2010). They are important for maintaining hydration,
administering medications, providing blood and blood products and even nutrition to the patient, but
are not without their complications. These complications include thrombophlebitis, infiltration and
blood stream infection. Thrombophlebitis is among the most common complications of having
intravenous access. Symptoms of phlebitis include pain, redness, tenderness upon palpation, swelling
and warmth at the IV site and are all related to the inflammation of the vein (Uslusoy Mete, 2008).
Several studies were completed with the aim to determine predisposing factors that lead to a patient
developing phlebitis. The other research articles discussed looks at the acceptance of a policy that is
supposed to prevent phlebitis and other complications associated with IV access. Literature Review
Research by Pasalioglu Kaya (2008) looked at factors such as age, gender, number of catheterizations,
the size of the catheter, anatomical site of the IV, administration of antibiotics, the duration the
catheter remained in the vein, the cause of removal of IV and the level of phlebitis, if present, by
utilizing a pre determined staging key (Pasalioglu Kaya, 2008). Pasalioglu Kaya (2008) determined,

Quantitative And Qualitative
With qualitative and quantitative most psychological researchers use both types of methods. In
particular, qualitative methods are widely used as exploratory methods; then the results of qualitative
analysis are used to design quantitative research. What is the difference between quantitative and
qualitative research? In this essay I will go into more detail on these two forms of research looking at
the definition, strengths, limitations and key features of each research method.
Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The
gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner. The primary aim of a
qualitative research is to provide a complete, detailed description of the research topic. It is usually
more exploratory in nature.
Qualitative research is multi method in focus, involving an interpretive, ... Show more content on

This allows the researcher to find issues that are often missed (such as subtleties and complexities) by
the scientific, more positivistic enquiries. Qualitative descriptions can play the important role of
suggesting possible relationships, causes, effects and dynamic processes. Qualitative analysis allows
for ambiguities and also contradictions in the data, which is a reflection of social reality. Qualitative
research uses a descriptive, narrative style, this research might be of particular benefit to the
practitioner as she or he could turn to qualitative reports in order to examine forms of knowledge that
might otherwise be unavailable, thereby gaining new insight. Qualitative research see s people as
individuals, attempting to gather their subjective experience of an event. This can provide a unique
insider view of the research question through the qualitative approach, which is less structured than a
quantitative approach, unexpected results and insights, can

The Electric Telegraph Invented By Samuel Morse
One of the earliest inventions of communication was the electric telegraph invented by Samuel Morse.
This device used electrical signals to transmit messages. The telegraph played a significant role in
transmitting messages over long spaces. Its usage was in Law enforcement, army and newspapers.
Even so, anyone could post messages using a telegram via a service. Today, there are roughly three
principal methods of measuring the velocity of data contagion. Baud rate (signaling events per
minute), BPS (bits per Sec) and CPS (characters per minute). The fact is, today the baud rate has been
substituted with a more precise unit of measurement.
Telephones are most mutual and are ground in almost every home and organizations. Telephones
worked by using a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). This is where copper wires carry an
analogue voice signal. Analogue means a device or organization in which the value of a data point
represented by a continuously varying physical quantity which can be quantified. An example is a
watch that shows time with hands on a dial rather than numbers on an LCD screen. In an analogue
telephone system, the audio signal is converted into electronic pulses. This creates vibrations in the
handset s speaker that can be picked up by the person listening.
Nevertheless, in a digital telephone. The audio signal is converted into binary format. The binary
format consists of groups of 0 s and 1 s. The audio signal is sampled thousands of times a second and

Analysis Of The Film The Golden Girls Essay
Since the age of nine, I ve had a dream of becoming a screenwriter, and a movie producer. Where
others only want to see a show or a movie, I have always wanted to be behind the scenes in the
creation of the art. Being behind the scene and being involved in the creation of the film has always
fascinated me. When I was a in 3rd grade I remember watching the Golden Girls. One Saturday
morning, I turned to Lifetime, and there was an elderly lady who was so short and cute, I just could
not turn the channel. The woman s name was Sophia and she made me laugh from the time I had
started watching the TV show until it had gone off. That day Lifetime was running a marathon of the
Golden Girls; those four ladies made me giggle, and smile. So it was then that I started to wonder
about who is behind the TV shows and movies, because I saw myself being that person. At that time I
did not know about a producer or film maker all that I knew is that I wanted to become a part of tv
shows. The Golden Girls made me want to have my own TV series that was just as funny, and that
would make people laugh just as I had done when I watched it. I began carrying a notebook and a pen
everywhere I would go. I would jot down funny lines, and different ideas for scripts for a movie or a
TV series. I then realized that I wanted to become a screenwriter and a film producer. As a
screenwriter, I want to create TV series that brings joy and comfort to all people, no matter what. My

Nordstrom vs. JCPenney
Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom.
Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large,
and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that
much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for
them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes
that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a
combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender,
race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich
(2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida
is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the
state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is
primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social
stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99%
and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class
occupy a different social stratification than those who occupy the lower

Symbolism In Epic Of Gilgamesh And Dante s Inferno
Symbolism in World Literature Symbolism is an aspect that inherits its way into multiple stories,
sometimes with or without an author realizing so until after the piece comes to a finish. Symbolism is
an essence for pieces of World Literature from the early ages of writing and even up to the writings
happening around the world today. Overall, symbolism is as necessary in an authors works as the
words on the page, considering that symbolism aids in a stories flow and also brings forth multiple
meanings to an authors text depending upon who is reading the text. Two early world literature works
in particular which display quite a various range of symbolism is the Epic of Gilgamesh and Dante s

Gilgamesh s wild friend who seemed to be half man and half animal, as they travel through numerous

walked the line straight and did not cause too large of an uproar in Uruk where Gilgamesh was king.

University Of Oxford English Professor, Dr. Stuart Lee
University of Oxford English professor, Dr. Stuart Lee argues that the First World War was one of the
seminal moments of the twentieth century in which literate soldiers, plunged into inhuman conditions,
reacted to their surroundings in poems . Lee s statement identifies the role played by First World War
poetry played in not only commemorating the Great War but also allowing scholars to gain an insight
into the brutalities of the conflict through this literature available. This essay will agree with the
statement that First World War poetry has become one of the defining factors of Britain s memory of
the war, as it has acted as an avenue to access the real emotions and difficulties faced by the people,
including soldiers, caused by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the mocking tone of the poem indicates to the reader that the war may have been meaningless in
the eyes of the soldiers, especially as it was a war of attrition. The conflict tested how long an army
could endure the conditions and sustain morale. Achievements due to the efforts of the soldier were
less visible and tangible. This perspective is further emphasised by Sassoon in The Kiss as he
describes the blind power of the bullet reiterating the view that the conflict was futile. Even Rosenberg
argues that the war was a time of mass slaughter and human sacrifice with little sense. Rosenberg
sheds light on the artificiality of political barriers through the imagery of a rat in the poem Break of
the Day in the Trenches where the rat touched this English hand and will do the same to a German .
There is a sense of playfulness to the poem but there are overtones of bitterness. Although Rosenberg
is discussing a broader theme here about the arbitrariness of political divisions and borders for non
humans, an interpretation is that the poet is hinting at the artificiality of the Great War. This again
signifies a condemnation of the war and the fact that soldiers consider the war to be unnecessary
during and after the war.
The poetry of the First World War gives the audience an insight in the horrific realities of the war and
the inhumane conditions. It is inaccurate to claim that brutalities only occurred during the Great War;

South African Americans Before European Integration
Europe has been quite successful in integrating its economies because of the various geopolitical and
economic activities. The first and foremost reason is that these countries are small and the economy of
the one country can be integrated with the economy of the other country. Their integration has been
made possible because the aspiration and believe of the different countries are very much similar.
Moreover, their cultural and economic history is moreover same. European Union as it has been called
now has been the most developed model of the regional integration though challenged by economic
crisis now a days.
For the integration, the intersection of the economic need, life style of the people, and size of the
economy must be same. Due to inappropriate way and lack of proper political integration by countries

Phuong Symbolism
In the book The Quiet American Phoung, the beautiful Vietnamese girl caught in a love triangle with
an American spy and a war correspondent, is seen as a commodity, something to be bartered, without
actually taking her feelings into consideration. She is treated as a delicate victim who needs saving by
the men in the book but although it seems like Greene is portraying Phuong as nothing more than an
object, he means for her to represent much more than that. Greene s portrayal of Phuong as an object
represents the treatment of the Vietnamese people in the hands of the Americans. She is meant to be
symbolic of her country, both men, American and British want to possess her, much like the war
raging in Vietnam.
Phuong is treated like an object to be won by the men in The Quiet American. Both Fowler and Pyle

He moved to Chennai in 1989 but their manufacturing unit continued to be in Cuddalore. It took him

Creating and Managing Effective Teams
Creating and Managing Effective Teams Managing a team of people can be tricky, but it can be even
harder when those people come from different areas in the workplace. Not knowing a fellow team
member can put a strain on the ability to work together, but with the proper training, and management
skills, any team can accomplish the goals set for them. For this exercise I was asked to select a team of
people to search for innovative ideas that would put the automaker on the leading edge . I selected

members, instead of seeking out innovating ideas, like they were tasked to do in the beginning. The
team has used a few of her ideas, but they know for the team to succeed, they will have to probe deep
into the auto making industry to find the best ideas possible. I would address the issue as a team, let
her know that we appreciate her ideas, and that she will get recognition for those ideas we use, but let
her know that we still need move forward with the program. Giving Amrita the recognition she is
seeking as a reward would make her feel as if she did help the team, while also giving her exposure in
the design field. Once the group was back on track, the next roadblock to hit the team was groupthink.
They had started to rule out ideas that might have been just a little risky, but could have put them on
the leading edge of the industry. Trying to inspire them to start thinking as individuals again, and get
their creativity flowing again I decided to use a Devil s advocate session. I told the team that they
should take away questions and concerns from this meeting, but that it is not an attack on the team, it

Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters
Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples
and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel
serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the
overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the
histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through
the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The
fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the
perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct and a projection of that
cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits
haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated
models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoples appear to be the most important fearsome figure.
The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the
historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George
Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging
indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not

Why Do People Take A Mental Health Day Essay
Mental health day is usually a term that people use to take a break off of work or basically anything
that stresses them out on an everyday basis. According to medical experts, it is extremely essential for
a person to take a mental health day every now and then in order for their mind to stay productive and
also for it to perform well. However, some people tend to feel guilty about it even if they really do
deserve it. So here are a couple of ways to take a mental health day without actually feeling bad about

Well, maybe not too scared, probably they just know that they will feel extremely bad for taking a
break. But why? Well, turns out that these people are considered workaholic, they always make sure
that they re doing what they are supposed to be doing at work, but they sometimes do over times
which is not that necessary, unless there is a deadline that needs to be met. They might also be scared
to ask their boss about taking a break, which is completely understandable, but it is your right. Every
single person in this world has the right to take a day off no matter what kind of job they have. Some
people may say that their bodies are perfectly fine and that they re eating healthy, but they always
seem to forget that their minds need some rest as well.
How Do You Know If You Deserve To Have A Mental Health Day?

Iphone Vulnerabilities
The Apple Inc. iPhone mobile devices have been a successful phone in the technology era. There are
common vulnerabilities that have the ability to compromise a mobile device. The vulnerabilities are
able to give attacks a leverage in obtaining sensitive information or secured data. The first common
vulnerability is jail breaking which allows third party applications without an official SDK from Apple
to run on the iPhone. A fix to this vulnerability would be to not download any applications to jailbreak
the mobile device or any untrusted mobile applications. Another vulnerability to the Apple iPhone is
the Airdrop figure, which allows a user to unintentionally download malicious malware when intended
to share files with contacts. Solving this vulnerability includes disabling the Airdrop or only allowing
Airdrop to contacts. An additional vulnerability is public Wi Fi information stealing that uses a public
network to gain information on your mobile device. The vulnerability fix would be to avoid
unencrypted public wireless networks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Greek Pottery Changes
No other culture has had such an important influence on western art as that which flourished in
Ancient Greece. (Herwig, 1988) Kate O Halloran agrees that a lot of what we know about everyday
life in Ancient Greece comes from Greek Pottery . (O Halloran, 1988) Greek Pottery, particularly in
terms of decoration, evolved over the centuries and was categorized into four broad groups; however
these styles did not pass abruptly from one to another and in some cases ran side by side for decades.
(Cartwright, 2013) These changes in pottery over time were impacted by the political , economic,
social changes and cultural developments of ancient Greece.

The History of Texas Essay
The History of Texas
Texas history itself had its own amazing story. The small number of American settlers moved to the
land of Texas had led to the dramatic war with the Mexicans. The land of Texas was used to be owned
by Mexicans. Due to the argument between Texans and Mexicans caused the battle of San Jacinto and

An endless number of people all over the world use and benefit from modern technology, and the

in criminal justice today means having the opportunity to utilize GPS systems, advanced cameras and
high powered computer systems. These important technologies have improved investigation,

Unjust Iraq War Essay
The Iraq war has been a very sensitive and divisive issue in today s society. Although we can not
ignore the cloud around this administration when it comes to potential incentives that going to war
presented, (such as oil for profits and retaliation to Saddam Hussein for the Gulf War and treatment of
President Bush Sr.), I will look beyond these potential motives to explain why the U.S. involvement in
the Iraq War was unjust simply because it doesn t fall into any of the four functions of force authored
by Robert J. Art. The United States ignored the U.N. guidelines for peace, as well as its public protest
against the war, to strike Iraq with an unprovoked attack. A war fought on the premise that this country

The easiest way to prove that was to find the weapons of mass destruction or supported programs.
Leaving aside the fact that many do not accept this interpretation even in principle, the U.S.( Britain,
its primary military ally) needed to demonstrate that Iraq s weapons of mass destruction compatibility
was imminent. They failed to do so, both before and after the war. (276) This strike doesn t fit as a
defense of preemptive, (an attack in hours or days), nor does it fit for defense of preventive, (an attack
in months or years). The U.S. had successfully attacked a harmless country. The next function of force
according to Art is deterrence. This serves to prevent the enemy from doing something that one doesn
t want him to do and that he might otherwise be tempted to do by threatening him with unacceptable
punishment if he does. In essence this is the threat of retaliation for deviating from one s requests. The
effectiveness of the threat depends upon the states credibility for carrying out the threat, and the
United States being the superpower that it is, had all the credibility needed to have the full attention of
the Iraqi leader. This is why Hussein complied with the UN in 2002 with the Security Council
Resolution 1441. This act demanded that Iraq re admit weapons inspectors and comply with previous
resolutions it has ignored since the 1990s. Even after the U.N. inspector Hans Blix reported that there

Although convincing the audience that the rhetor is intelligent does not mean that they can be fully

appeals to the audience s ethical judgment, this can be in the form of a passionate delivery or even a
simple claim that matter is unjust (Jasinski, 2001). The rhetor fails to provide any limitations or

These can be embedded in the artifacts major arguments, types of evidence, images, particular terms,

The analyst then articulates ideas, themes, concepts, or references that are suggested by the presented

his story to make you understand the characters a little bit more and Gary Paulsen uses dialogue to

Walter Dean Myers uses dialogue to make you understand the characters a little bit more in the story
The Treasure of Lemon Brown . For example, And you want to play basketball? His father s brows
knitted over deep brown eyes. That must be some kind of joke. Now you just get into your room and
hit these books. This quote shows that Greg s father was very upset about Greg s grades. Mainly he is
upset because when he was a kid he didn t have access to the kind of education Greg has now in fact,
he only had an education until he was thirteen, so he wants Greg to take advantage and learn as much
as he can. Another example is He went to the window and was about to look out when he heard a
voice behind him. Don t try nothin cause I got a razor here sharp enough to cut a week into nine days!
Lemon Brown is the one speaking in this quote and he is scared because a boy has walked into his
house. This helps you understand that Lemon Brown is a nervous guy that thinks he has an intruder.
My final example is I used to travel around and make money for to feed my wife and Jesse that s my
boy s name. Used to feed them good, too. Then his mama died, and he stayed with his mama s sister.
He growed up to be a man, and when the war come, he saw fit to go off and fight in it. I didn t have
nothing to give him except these things that told him who I was and what he come from. If you know
your pappy did something, you know you can do something too. Anyway, he went off to war, and I

What Dreams May Come Vincent Ward s What Dreams May Come breathed brilliant life into the

Soft Media And Soft News Media Essay
Just how influential are soft news outlets in informing the american people? I approached this topic
with an interest in the answer because soft news media is one of the early ways that I was introduced
to politics. It is through this medium of media that I have seen many people increase their political
participation. There have been some studies in this topic but I want to see how prevalent these studies
are to today s soft news media. One of the more useful resources that I had while writing this paper is
that of Matthew A. Baum. He has written many studies regarding soft news in the media throughout
the years. I believe that soft news outlets are a great way for the politically uninformed to become
better informed rather than watching the more hard news outlets. What does the term soft news
actually mean? Well one great way of defining it is as a style and genre that blurs the line between
information and entertainment. (Lisa Mills Brown 2014) A few examples of some of the more well
known soft news programs are The Daily Show and The Tonight Show hosted by a variety of anchors.
In my opinion, what makes these shows so popular is how each show is able to combine jokes and
lighthearted humor to news that would otherwise be serious. Accordingly, many people probably feel
the same way. By moving away from the more traditional hard news, people are probably looking
more towards soft news media as a way to get their daily political news. With a variety of different

1. Summarize the key difference between functionalists and conflict theories of deviance.
In our society, the functionalists and conflict theorists are always hard at work. Their approach to
understanding society is very different from each other. A functionalist tends to take a theoretical
approach, seeing society as an interlocking structure. This structure is designed to supply the needs of
everyone in the society. On the other hand, a conflict theorist looks at a society in a last man standing
point of view. They see the society as constantly competing for resources. Therefore, when it comes to
deviance, they take two different stances on the situation. When one thinks about ... Show more

Rose hears a newscast about it, sees her picture on TV and calls the ship, asking, I
was just wondering if you had found the heart of the ocean yet, Mr. Lovett?
The literal gem, then, serves to drive the plot. People explore wrecks for the
challenge and for scientific purposes, but Cameron has Brock Lovett, played by Bill
Paxton, and his salvage crew searching for a diamond. This motivation works on two
levels. It gives a reason for the dangerous and expensive dive that the people sitting in
the dark theater can appreciate. Many people in this materialistic world can relate to
and understand betting one s life and fortune on a diamond that rivals the Hope
diamond in value. On an artistic level, though, the search for material wealth parallels
the confidence that the Titanic s owners place in material goods and technology. And
of course, just as money and wealth by themselves fail to make life worthwhile for most
people, all of the confidence her owners and passengers mistakenly place in the
integrity of this man made ship cannot keep them warm in ice water.

Jazz has had a significant effect on American culture. It has played a significant role in defining
America s cultural capacity s and has been the catalyst of issues that have dealt with race, politics and

The Early Years Of The American Civil War
The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from
historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the
leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical
study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I
spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard
bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially
true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big
picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty
years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a
coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story
back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to
some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors

factor is that this was a cross cultural negotiation because Microsoft is an American company, while
Nokia is a Finnish company. Both countries have very different values, so it was extremely important
for representatives from both companies to understand each other s cultures before the negotiations
began. Another reason that I feel this negotiation could be successfully completed was due to the fact

However, beneath the iceberg, we have value, beliefs, norms and assumptions. These are all important
factors of the negotiator that a negotiator who is unfamiliar with the culture would not be aware of if
they simply showed up to the negotiation without first conducting research (Thompson, 2014). An
example of how the iceberg has come into play with the Microsoft Nokia negotiation is that a key
challenge of the deal was that Nokia was a huge source of Finnish pride and selling the brand s best
known division would hugely diminish that pride (Moen, 2011). This presented a challenge for
Microsoft to overcome because Microsoft is an American company and America is a country that
places less value on patriotism than Finland (Thompson, 2014). If Microsoft had undervalued Nokia s
Finnish routes and the importance of Finland to Nokia, then the Nokia board may not have agreed to
sell the company to Microsoft. This is one of the reasons why Microsoft agreed to make Finland a
research hub for the company and keep a significant portion of Microsoft s mobile development work
in that country. Having a company like Microsoft invest in Finland provided to be a large boon for the
country and was one of the considerations of the deal. This deep sense of Finnish pride was also one
of the reasons that Microsoft committed to keep using Nokia name even after the merger (Telegraph
Reporters, 2016). If Nokia was an American company, the concern of

Mixed Incontinence Case Study
The patient in the case study would most likely have mixed incontinence. The two forms of
incontinence the patient would suffer from are transient and functional. The patient is currently taking
Lasix 80 mg by mouth every 12 hours and would this would be the contributable factor for transient
incontinence. Functional incontinence in this case would be from the patient being unable to make it
to the toilet because he needs two people to assist him when moving. If the patient was not taking the
Lasix, he would still most likely suffer from functional incontinence. The patient has also had an
intraoperative left cerebrovascular accident (CVA) which can also be a factor for incontinence but
there is not enough information given to make that determination. Although, a CVA can be a factor for
incontinence it is not always the cause. The Lasix 80 mg twice a day combined with the patient not
being able to go to the toilet on his own would lead to a diagnosis of mixed incontinence (Ebersole
Hess , 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toilet substitutes include urinal, bedpan and commode. The patient would be able to use the urinal
without assistance and lessen the chance of incontinence. The absorbent bed pads would give the
patient protection if he is not able to get to the commode or urinal fast enough and provide a barrier
between the sheets and his skin as most of the pads are moisture absorbent. The commode next to the
bed would be the last resort in interventions as the patient would still need assistance to transfer from
the bed. Putting these interventions into place would help the patient with incontinence and give him a
sense of self help (Ebersole Hess ,

Bacon s Rebellion
There are many things that shaped the experience of enslaved people. One of the main forces that
caused slavery to be so common was the simple fact that there were no laws to control or prohibit
slavery. For many farms and industries, having slaves was very profitable because once the farm or
company was done with the slave, they could resell them. It is also the simple fact that slaves were
free labor. Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 also changed the lives of many enslaved people. Bacon had
promised freedom to anyone who joined his army. However, this promise was short lived. In ore to
avoid anymore outbursts or rebellions of the former slaves, the Virginia authorities pushed the slaves
whom would never again be free to the tobacco fields and

The Theory Of Organizational Change
Literature Synthesis The idea of change can alarm any system and lead to unexpected reactions from
the members associated with the system. As the change begins to be implemented, these uncertainties
intensify and can lead to crisis. This phenomenon becomes even more crucial when the system
involves an organization with leaders and those members with non managerial responsibilities. When
change is being implemented within an organization by its leaders, the consequences of it can be
underestimated or ignored by them, resulting in crises and, eventually, failure of the change efforts. In
order for change to succeed, specifically in today s business world, where organizations are constantly
undergoing change at a fast rate, companies should educate their employees in understanding and
supporting change. Taking both organizational and employee perspectives into account, Armenakis
and Bedeian (1999) have reviewed major research publications on the theory of organizational change
from 1987 to 1999. To set a basis for selecting from the vast number of the available material, their
study was concentrated on those researches focusing on the fundamentals of organizational change
dynamics. The researchers acknowledge the effect of the extent of their resource selection on the
literature review outcome, stating that their choice of subject area will provide a deeper understanding
of the existing approaches governing organizational change. In order to make their research
manageable,

Dual Immersion Benefits
The United States is a country built by immigrants who speak more than one language. Being
bilingual has many benefits that vary from traveling with ease all through having a brain that can
multitask faster. In the past decade many schools in California, as well as other states, have started a
program called the dual immersion or something of that nature in which they have a class that is in
another language, usually Spanish, and they teach the kids all the required material in that other
language. The Dual Immersion program is something that should be instated into more schools,
specifically in the bay area, because of the diversity seen here.
The duel immersion program has been shown to benefit the students in numerous ways; just being ...

A solution to these problems would be for the school to have the duel immersion classes do
fundraisers to help get money into their program. These fundraisers/fairs could be cultural events to
help educate the kids of different cultures and communities in the Latin world. This could not only
benefit the duel immersion classes but anyone that would show up to the fundraiser, as they would be
learning about the culture that the classes chose for that particular fundraisers/fair, with the money the
program makes from this it can afford to contract more teachers to help out, and give these kids the
benefits they deserve. Although it will be time consuming and there might need to be a lot of parents
to help out, the benefits outweigh these small setbacks. Having more teachers can give the program
the chance to have smaller classes in which the teachers can have more one on one with the kids so
that they each get the right amount of attention they need and deserve. More teachers can also mean
that the school can extend the program and give more kids the chance to be accepted into the duel
immersion program giving them a chance to better their education. The duel immersion program can
also have more fieldtrips in which they could

Treatment Plan
Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of
informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or
facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states
that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to
Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may
foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This
paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also
make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of
resistance should be minimal.
Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized
treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be
acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the
treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request.
Conclusion
Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may
be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite
empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the
determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the
treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings
and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the
client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it
increases the likelihood of a successful process.

Cabo San Lucas Research Paper
As it was in the beginning, so it has remained for thousands of years; the natural beauty of Cabo San
Lucas is still the magnetic pull that intrigues and invites many to experience what this majestic,
modern, sophisticated resort town has to offer. Located at the southern end of the 1,000 mile Baja
California Peninsula in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, Cabo San Lucas is said to have been
discovered by Francisco de Ulloa in 1537. Other historical accounts claim that An Englishman
Thomas Richie, in 1828, founded Cabo San Lucas. However, thousands of years ago before European
arrival, the area was once inhabited by the Pericu tribe. Cabo as the region is more commonly called,
has a colorful history that recalls tales of Spanish conquerors, and plundering pirates, who were

  • 2. Islam And The Religious Beliefs Of Islam Islam is an extremely pervasive and widely known religion that has greatly affected society and its independent religious views. The Islam ideology and its numerous ideas rapidly and widely, and quickly became a prevalent religion with significantly influential aspects and elements. For instance, its focus on Allah, the Arabic word of God, as well as many other Islam spiritual aspects has taken effect in many countries, and continues to influence many people as well as the religious ideas of other spiritual paths. People gravitate towards the concept of how spiritual theory developed from a small, insignificant community could have so rapidly become a renowned, crucial part of life for much of the world s population. Retaining its emphasis on an uncompromising monotheism and a strict adherence to certain essential religious practices, Islam continues to influence society with its unique elements and divine inspired unity of mankind. The numerous Islamic trade routes surrounding Mecca served as effective ways of spreading religious Islam ideas through various routes and courses in which people could record Islamic spiritual views. For example, in document A, main Islam areas such as Mecca and Medina are in the center of many main countries and empires, such as the Byzantine Empire Knight 2 and Persia. Because of Arabia s location, people could come to its Islamic areas by trade, and see where Islam originated from as well as its diverse religious notions and intentions. ... • 4. Natural Selection Misinterpretation Paper In topic 1, the introduction to human uniqueness and social coercion theory, we are introduced to some of the common misinterpretation behind Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, specifically in regards to natural selection and survival of the fittest. One of the biggest contributors to this issue is the lack of exposure to the general public on the overall theory behind these two processes. Instead of a full detailed explanation about natural selection and survival of the fittest, we are just told that it is slow and that to be fit means a level of superiority among competition, respectively. Topic 1 revealed that this is not true, as well as stating that natural selection is about individual risk, benefit and cost is of the utmost importance(Bingham). Based on this newly found insight from the course, how does individual risk, benefit, and cost play such an important role in natural selection even though selection is seen in a population and not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a student, I built a parameter that caused me to believe that an equation or a theory had a set goal to achieve and must provide a push in order to reach it. Natural selection completely breaks this barrier due to its passive and ubiquitous nature (True 2016). Natural selection does not evoke any force on any species to evolve nor does it create genetic variation. The individual, through mutations, risks, and understanding the benefit allow for the process of natural selection to work. At first, I also questioned how could an individual s action have anything to do with natural selection. I learned that an individual s gene does not change, therefore an individual can not adapt (True 2016). Although this is true, if a deeper look is taken into the world and some of the ways evolution occurs, the individual is of the utmost importance in causing natural ... • 5. Descriptive Statistics And Its Impact On The Visualization... Introduction Statistics, the cornerstone of any empirical study, are the foundation for analyses. In this instance, descriptive statistics, which are data points that describe the distinct qualities of a population, will be explored. Descriptive statistics, the first step of analyzing data, allow for the values to be represented, summarized, and interpreted in a meaningful, but simple, way. Exploring descriptive statistics may provide for the appearance of a pattern or aid in the visualization of the collective information; however, researchers are not able to establish conclusions based on these statistics. Another aspect of statistics is frequency, which is the number of times that each variable occurs during the study. Descriptive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of the experiment conducted was to determine the correlation, if any, between Texas A M student alcohol consumption each week and the number of classes missed per week. Given the abilities and constraints of descriptive statistics, choosing to focus on this type of statistic allowed for the student to properly view the overall information, since there were many interacting values. Method In this study, the participants were randomly selected throughout a two week period (N = 35). The people were all Texas A M students, ranging from freshman to senior classifications (M = 2.71, SD = 1.07, freshman to senior recorded as 1 to 4). The continuous predictors for this experiment were the participants ages and how many alcoholic beverages that they said they consumed per week. The participants had a mean age of of 20.43 (SD = 1.58). The variables in this study were how many classes a student missed per week, how many hours they were taking, how likely they were to miss class after a night of drinking, and how enjoyable class was after a night of consuming alcohol. How likely they were to miss class after a night of drinking and how enjoyable class was the morning after drinking were rated on a scale from 1 to 10. However, the scale for likelihood to miss class after a night of consuming alcohol was with 1 being unlikely and with 10 being most likely. Whereas, for the variable of how enjoyable class was ... • 7. Lord Fogarty Essay The first poem I will be discussing is Fellow Being by Lionel Fogarty. Sound techniques such as consonance are used in this poem to invite the reader to understand how Australia can function as an unwelcoming home to the Indigenous Australians. Fogarty writes in the poem that The kissing of winds to trees are the love between aborigines . Through the repetition of the soft drawn out s sound in the words kissing and trees , the quality of the sound portrays a sense of love and safety. Furthermore, the word kissing , with its connotations of affection and love, and trees with its inferences of freedom and life emphasises the connection indigenous Australians had with the old Australia. The reminiscent style of the poem reveals the inhospitable nature of modern Australia towards Aborigines. Fogarty also uses image techniques such as metaphors to describe the interdependent nature of the relationship the indigenous Australians had with the land. By emphasizing this important relationship, Fogarty reveals the fractured bond that the white Australians forced upon the Aborigines. The phrase aboriginal is the bread equates the indigenous ... What is the difference between quantitative and qualitative research? In this essay I will go into more detail on these two forms of research looking at the definition, strengths, limitations and key features of each research method. Qualitative research focuses on gathering of mainly verbal data rather than measurements. The gathered information is then analyzed in an interpretative or subjective manner. The primary aim of a qualitative research is to provide a complete, detailed description of the research topic. It is usually more exploratory in nature. • 11. The Electric Telegraph Invented By Samuel Morse One of the earliest inventions of communication was the electric telegraph invented by Samuel Morse. This device used electrical signals to transmit messages. The telegraph played a significant role in transmitting messages over long spaces. Its usage was in Law enforcement, army and newspapers. Even so, anyone could post messages using a telegram via a service. Today, there are roughly three principal methods of measuring the velocity of data contagion. Baud rate (signaling events per minute), BPS (bits per Sec) and CPS (characters per minute). The fact is, today the baud rate has been substituted with a more precise unit of measurement. Telephones are most mutual and are ground in almost every home and organizations. Telephones worked by using a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). This is where copper wires carry an analogue voice signal. Analogue means a device or organization in which the value of a data point represented by a continuously varying physical quantity which can be quantified. An example is a watch that shows time with hands on a dial rather than numbers on an LCD screen. In an analogue telephone system, the audio signal is converted into electronic pulses. This creates vibrations in the handset s speaker that can be picked up by the person listening. Nevertheless, in a digital telephone. The audio signal is converted into binary format. Where others only want to see a show or a movie, I have always wanted to be behind the scenes in the creation of the art. Being behind the scene and being involved in the creation of the film has always fascinated me. When I was a in 3rd grade I remember watching the Golden Girls. One Saturday morning, I turned to Lifetime, and there was an elderly lady who was so short and cute, I just could not turn the channel. The woman s name was Sophia and she made me laugh from the time I had started watching the TV show until it had gone off. That day Lifetime was running a marathon of the Golden Girls; those four ladies made me giggle, and smile. So it was then that I started to wonder about who is behind the TV shows and movies, because I saw myself being that person. At that time I did not know about a producer or film maker all that I knew is that I wanted to become a part of tv shows. The Golden Girls made me want to have my own TV series that was just as funny, and that would make people laugh just as I had done when I watched it. I began carrying a notebook and a pen everywhere I would go. I would jot down funny lines, and different ideas for scripts for a movie or a TV series. • 13. Nordstrom vs. JCPenney Introduction On paper, there might not seem much difference between a JC Penney and a Nordstrom. Both are department stores, so they carry roughly the same merchandise categories. They are large, and act as anchors in shopping malls all over America. The shopping experience is actually not that much different between them. Yet, there are subtle differences for those who are willing to search for them. The differences tend to relate to our concept of social class distinctions. Massey (2007) notes that all human societies have a social structure that divides people into categories based on a combination of achieved and ascribed traits (p.1). Obviously, we make use of groupings like gender, race and religion, but less explored is the degree to which we use social stratification. Ehrenreich (2001) recounts the story of her journey into the social underclass, starting in the Florida Keys. Florida is a highly stratified society, with a concentration of high wealth individuals who choose to live in the state for things like weather and proximity to the ocean, and low wealth individuals whose role is primarily to serve the upper classes. Thus, money is one of the more important sources of social stratification in American society. In today s political discourse, this stratification is framed as the 99% and the 1%, but in reality that framing is overly simplistic. Those within America s middle class occupy a different social stratification than those who occupy the lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the mocking tone of the poem indicates to the reader that the war may have been meaningless in the eyes of the soldiers, especially as it was a war of attrition. The conflict tested how long an army could endure the conditions and sustain morale. Achievements due to the efforts of the soldier were less visible and tangible. This perspective is further emphasised by Sassoon in The Kiss as he describes the blind power of the bullet reiterating the view that the conflict was futile. Even Rosenberg argues that the war was a time of mass slaughter and human sacrifice with little sense. Rosenberg sheds light on the artificiality of political barriers through the imagery of a rat in the poem Break of the Day in the Trenches where the rat touched this English hand and will do the same to a German . There is a sense of playfulness to the poem but there are overtones of bitterness. Although Rosenberg is discussing a broader theme here about the arbitrariness of political divisions and borders for non humans, an interpretation is that the poet is hinting at the artificiality of the Great War. This again signifies a condemnation of the war and the fact that soldiers consider the war to be unnecessary during and after the war. The poetry of the First World War gives the audience an insight in the horrific realities of the war and the inhumane conditions. • 22. Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct and a projection of that cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoples appear to be the most important fearsome figure. The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not ... Walter Dean Myers uses dialogue to make you understand the characters a little bit more in the story The Treasure of Lemon Brown . For example, And you want to play basketball? His father s brows knitted over deep brown eyes. That must be some kind of joke. Now you just get into your room and hit these books. This quote shows that Greg s father was very upset about Greg s grades. Mainly he is upset because when he was a kid he didn t have access to the kind of education Greg has now in fact, he only had an education until he was thirteen, so he wants Greg to take advantage and learn as much as he can. Another example is He went to the window and was about to look out when he heard a voice behind him. Don t try nothin cause I got a razor here sharp enough to cut a week into nine days! Lemon Brown is the one speaking in this quote and he is scared because a boy has walked into his house. This helps you understand that Lemon Brown is a nervous guy that thinks he has an intruder. There have been some studies in this topic but I want to see how prevalent these studies are to today s soft news media. One of the more useful resources that I had while writing this paper is that of Matthew A. Baum. He has written many studies regarding soft news in the media throughout the years. I believe that soft news outlets are a great way for the politically uninformed to become better informed rather than watching the more hard news outlets. What does the term soft news actually mean? (Lisa Mills Brown 2014) A few examples of some of the more well known soft news programs are The Daily Show and The Tonight Show hosted by a variety of anchors. In my opinion, what makes these shows so popular is how each show is able to combine jokes and lighthearted humor to news that would otherwise be serious. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. These are all important factors of the negotiator that a negotiator who is unfamiliar with the culture would not be aware of if they simply showed up to the negotiation without first conducting research (Thompson, 2014). An example of how the iceberg has come into play with the Microsoft Nokia negotiation is that a key challenge of the deal was that Nokia was a huge source of Finnish pride and selling the brand s best known division would hugely diminish that pride (Moen, 2011). This presented a challenge for Microsoft to overcome because Microsoft is an American company and America is a country that places less value on patriotism than Finland (Thompson, 2014). If Microsoft had undervalued Nokia s Finnish routes and the importance of Finland to Nokia, then the Nokia board may not have agreed to sell the company to Microsoft. This is one of the reasons why Microsoft agreed to make Finland a research hub for the company and keep a significant portion of Microsoft s mobile development work in that country. Having a company like Microsoft invest in Finland provided to be a large boon for the country and was one of the considerations of the deal. The patient is currently taking Lasix 80 mg by mouth every 12 hours and would this would be the contributable factor for transient incontinence. Functional incontinence in this case would be from the patient being unable to make it to the toilet because he needs two people to assist him when moving. If the patient was not taking the Lasix, he would still most likely suffer from functional incontinence. The patient has also had an intraoperative left cerebrovascular accident (CVA) which can also be a factor for incontinence but there is not enough information given to make that determination. Although, a CVA can be a factor for incontinence it is not always the cause. The Lasix 80 mg twice a day combined with the patient not being able to go to the toilet on his own would lead to a diagnosis of mixed incontinence (Ebersole Hess , 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Toilet substitutes include urinal, bedpan and commode. The patient would be able to use the urinal without assistance and lessen the chance of incontinence. The absorbent bed pads would give the patient protection if he is not able to get to the commode or urinal fast enough and provide a barrier between the sheets and his skin as most of the pads are moisture absorbent. The commode next to the bed would be the last resort in interventions as the patient would still need assistance to transfer from the bed. Putting these interventions into place would help the patient with incontinence and give him a sense of self help (Ebersole Hess , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Bacon s Rebellion There are many things that shaped the experience of enslaved people. One of the main forces that caused slavery to be so common was the simple fact that there were no laws to control or prohibit slavery. For many farms and industries, having slaves was very profitable because once the farm or company was done with the slave, they could resell them. It is also the simple fact that slaves were free labor. Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 also changed the lives of many enslaved people. Bacon had promised freedom to anyone who joined his army. However, this promise was short lived. In ore to avoid anymore outbursts or rebellions of the former slaves, the Virginia authorities pushed the slaves whom would never again be free to the tobacco fields and ... • 45. The Theory Of Organizational Change Literature Synthesis The idea of change can alarm any system and lead to unexpected reactions from the members associated with the system. As the change begins to be implemented, these uncertainties intensify and can lead to crisis. This phenomenon becomes even more crucial when the system involves an organization with leaders and those members with non managerial responsibilities. When change is being implemented within an organization by its leaders, the consequences of it can be underestimated or ignored by them, resulting in crises and, eventually, failure of the change efforts. In order for change to succeed, specifically in today s business world, where organizations are constantly undergoing change at a fast rate, companies should educate their employees in understanding and supporting change. Taking both organizational and employee perspectives into account, Armenakis and Bedeian (1999) have reviewed major research publications on the theory of organizational change from 1987 to 1999. To set a basis for selecting from the vast number of the available material, their study was concentrated on those researches focusing on the fundamentals of organizational change dynamics. The researchers acknowledge the effect of the extent of their resource selection on the literature review outcome, stating that their choice of subject area will provide a deeper understanding of the existing approaches governing organizational change. In order to make their research manageable, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Dual Immersion Benefits The United States is a country built by immigrants who speak more than one language. Being bilingual has many benefits that vary from traveling with ease all through having a brain that can multitask faster. In the past decade many schools in California, as well as other states, have started a program called the dual immersion or something of that nature in which they have a class that is in another language, usually Spanish, and they teach the kids all the required material in that other language. The Dual Immersion program is something that should be instated into more schools, specifically in the bay area, because of the diversity seen here. The duel immersion program has been shown to benefit the students in numerous ways; just being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A solution to these problems would be for the school to have the duel immersion classes do fundraisers to help get money into their program. These fundraisers/fairs could be cultural events to help educate the kids of different cultures and communities in the Latin world. This could not only benefit the duel immersion classes but anyone that would show up to the fundraiser, as they would be learning about the culture that the classes chose for that particular fundraisers/fair, with the money the program makes from this it can afford to contract more teachers to help out, and give these kids the benefits they deserve. Although it will be time consuming and there might need to be a lot of parents to help out, the benefits outweigh these small setbacks. Having more teachers can give the program the chance to have smaller classes in which the teachers can have more one on one with the kids so that they each get the right amount of attention they need and deserve. More teachers can also mean that the school can extend the program and give more kids the chance to be accepted into the duel immersion program giving them a chance to better their education. The duel immersion program can also have more fieldtrips in which they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Treatment Plan Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of resistance should be minimal. Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request. Conclusion Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it increases the likelihood of a successful process. References ...
