Essay On Hotel Rwanda
Terry Georges film Hotel Rwanda focuses deeply into the life of Paul Rusesabagina, of whom Is also
identified as the hotel manager who saved the lives of 1200 Tutsis and Tutsi supporters. It sparks
awareness to the 1994 massacre that was carried out by the Hutu rebels in Rwanda. The film allows
viewers to engage in the issue through its emotional and intense screenplay. New York Times critic
Stephen Holding brands Hotel Rwanda on the entertainment aspect of violence and emotions, but
ignores the true human nature of the Rwandan Genocide.
Holding argues that Hotel Rwanda radically downplays the actual gore, which is observed through a
film or from a distance. Bodies are strewn everywhere, but the streets don t run with blood, and no
hideous mutilation is shown. Even the beatings seem tentative. This is true and is seen when Paul
Rusesabagina and his driver, Gregoire, go out to get supplies for the Hotel. This particular scene is
very foggy and when Paul steps out of the vehicle, he sees that there are dead bodies surrounding him.
Hotel Rwanda is a rated PG 13 film. Thus, includes a mostly non graphic depiction of the genocide.
However, contrary to what Holding says, it is not a flaw. Due to the film being less violent, it allows
for younger viewers to be exposed to the issue, rather than a smaller audience. The primary focus of
the film is not the act of killing itself, rather the fact that there was a genocide. The fact itself that
800,00 people died simply for being part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holding ignores the inhumanity, but focuses on the killing itself and does not acknowledge the
meaning behind the film having too many sentimental excesses. Thus, he falls flat to recognize the
true purpose of the film, which is to bring awareness to the 1194 Rwandan

The Negative Effects Of Video Games On The Four Domains Of...
Topic: Video Games Introduction When it comes to emerging adulthood, video games is controversial
topic on whether it is beneficial, non beneficial, or possibly a mix of both. Emerging adulthood can be
defined as the period of someone s life from the age of 18 25, in which they explore the possibilities of
multiple life decisions. My early emerging adulthood years consisted of playing multiple video games,
to be specific, massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG or MMO for short). There
are many different versions of MMO but they all share the characteristics of keeping up with multiple
variables, swift decision making, and retaining a vast amount of information. These requirements had
long lasting beneficial effects on my mental processes, decision making, memory, perception and
awareness. On the other hand, it negatively affected my self esteem, physical fitness and connection
with my family. This paper will ultimately examine the effects of video games on my late emerging
adulthood years within the context of the four domains of human development, cognitive, social,
emotional, and physiological. Cognitive Developmental Domain The beneficial effects of MMOs on
my mental processes can be related to intelligence, or also referred to as the way in which we
organize, process, and receive information. Chiappe et al (2013) conducted a research on 350 junior
students at CSU Long Beach. Of these participants, there were 100 regular gamers and 250 non
gamers.

Advantages Of Semi-Structured Interview
When choosing the most effective research method, you must first decide on the kind of answers you
are searching for. A quantitative method will find answers that are easily measured and follow trends
and patterns. The qualitative method, however, leads to answers that explore differences in meanings
and contexts. This essay will explore semi structured interviews, a qualitative method that identifies
themes and responses from preset open questions. The method is utilised for its opportunity to present
rich information and answers that would not be found in a formally structured interview. The success
of this method is reliant on the quality of its key elements, as well as the assumption of integrity with
both participants and research team. Because these factors are never guaranteed, this essay will
discuss how semi structured interviews may operate to create credible research and where limitations
will lie.
The semi structured interview is a research method that collects qualitative data from a set of open
questions and conversation. It s flexibility separates itself from the quantitative methods in surveying
and standardised interviewing (Bryman, 2012). Instead of quickly sortable data, semi structured
interviews gather information that emphasise the themes and new ideas. The method structure is very
flexible, with only a brief guide to direct the interviews. While quantitative methods generally reflect
the researchers ideas, semi structured interviews inquire more into

Essay on American Schools Need Music Education
American Schools Need Music Education
For years, I have studied music. I cannot picture my life without it. In my schooling, I participated in
various orchestras and choirs, learning eight different instruments along the way. It was my high
school music program that instilled a passion for music inside me. Not only did I enjoy attending my
music classes in high school, but I enjoyed all my classes, a fact that many of my peers cannot claim.
Learning how to think as a musician has also taught me how to think as a mathematician, a writer, a
scholar, and as a future educator.
Most people are not aware of the advantages children have in after taking classes in the arts. These

Their core constituency is comprised of local arts agencies throughout the country, stakeholder groups
with interests in art, and emerging arts leaders (artsusa.org)
Located on the Americans for the Arts main webpage are featured access points such as its public
awareness campaign, facts about effects art education has on students, success stories and testimonials
from those who lead better lives because of the arts, ways to get involved in the effort, and
government policies that have been put into action concerning the deterioration of arts in public
schools. A letter posted on the website, written by President George W. Bush, to the first joint meeting
of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and Americans for the Arts, states the following:
From music and dance to painting and sculpting, the arts allow us to explore new worlds and to view
life from another perspective. They also encourage individuals to sharpen their skills and abilities and
to nurture their imagination and intellect. As a Nation, we must continue to recognize the importance
of the arts in building strong and vibrant communities.
As a viewer of this website, I have learned how truly beneficial the arts are to all students. Did you
know that young people who engage in the arts for at least three hours on three days each week for at
least one year are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, 3 times

Realism In International Relations
Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the
time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they
have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402).
Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000)
through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the
theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations
(Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by
fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ...
philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a
scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is
fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a
basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on
an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for
change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). Whilst there are similarities which bind the different veins of
realism together, this essay will look at those different veins within the

Tragic fall of Icarus--compares the myth and how it...
The Tragic Death of Icarus
The story of Icarus is a classic Greek myth that has fascinated people all over the world. The tale of
his demise has been retold many times throughout history. The myth has been honored in art, songs,
poetry and by literature artists, with one apparently inspiring the other to explore the tale in one
different approach or another. Three of the most appealing of these versions of the tale of Icarus can
be found in the poems Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden, Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by
W. C. Williams, and Waiting for Icarus by Muriel Rukeyser. Even though the three poems talk about
Icarus s fall, each covers it in a different way. Musee des Beaux Arts and Landscape with the Fall of

Birth and death must occur simultaneously; otherwise, there will be no continuity.
Muriel Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus makes no apparent connection with Breughel s painting.
Indeed, while the painting and works of the previous two poets convey a sense of
obliviousness to the fact that a boy has just died, in Waiting for Icarus, Rukeyser considers the event
from a more personal and emotional perspective. This poem concentrates abandonment, and
everything comes to an end. A woman tells a story about her relationship with a man whom she loves
and anticipates his return, a man who promises her so many things. He puts her trust in him and waits
for him, only to find out her lover is man of words not deed, for none of his promises are fulfilled. He
promises her that he will be back and that their relationship is going to work out for the best. He asks
her to wait for his return at the beach and not to cry. She waits for him, but he abandons her; she finds
out that everything in life has an end. The day ends with the arrival of night. When there is life, death
will always follow. Her love story ends with Icarus s death, broken promises, regret, and heartbreak.
Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus, conveys emotion and sensitivity that is also alluded to by W. H.
Auden and W. C. Williams in their wonderment at why the world has not noticed Icarus in Musee des
Beaux Art, and Landscape with the fall of Icarus. However, Rukeyser s poem portrays love,
anticipation,

Literary Analysis of No Name Woman
A short literary analysis of Maxine Kingston s classic No Name Woman As part of the first generation
of Chinese Americans, Maxine Hong Kingston writes about her struggle to distinguish her cultural
identity through an impartial analysis of her aunt s denied existence. In No Name Woman, a chapter in
her written memoirs, Kingston analyzes the possible reasons behind her disavowed aunt s
dishonorable pregnancy and her village s subsequent raid upon her household. And with a bold
statement that shatters the family restriction to acknowledge the exiled aunt, Kingston states that, ...

Don t humiliate us. You wouldn t like to be forgotten as if you had never been born. The villagers are
watchful. Practically through her mother s indoctrination alone, Kingston was shaped throughout her
childhood to respect honor, family, and the very Chinese culture itself. Kingston s mother had once
told her, you must not tell anyone [about your aunt], and yet in direct defiance, Kingston then
devote[s] pages of paper to her [aunt]. Her actions which defy her mother s strict order are purposely
directed through her rebellious intention to do so. Kingston argues that the emigrant generation, which
consisted of her mother, had taken their culture with them because those in the emigrant generations
who could not reassert brute survival died young and far from home. Yet raising their progeny, they
must teach them what they know and understand. Kingston therefore believes that they must try to
confuse their offspring as well, who, I suppose, threaten them in similar ways always trying to get

The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting
The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or her
parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong
or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite
techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western
style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s life. Rather a
fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still
maintaining a level of discipline.
One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost
always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an
average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast
to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure
during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but
excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for
their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever.
In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers
freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western

Current Diagnostic Criteria For Sarabeth s Disorders
Current diagnostic criteria for SaraBeth s disorders is better explained by criterion A D in Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and criterion A E in Anxiety Disorder due to another medical condition.
OCD criteria A requires that the individual have the presence of obsession and/or compulsions.
SaraBeth reports obsessions of recurrent and persistent thoughts about harm coming to her parents and
although she had attempted to ignore these thoughts she continues with performing her compulsions.
SaraBeth s compulsions are evident by reported repetitive behaviors of performing ritual prayers,
persistent checking on the iron and stove and although SaraBeth can admit that her fear is unrealistic,
she continues the compulsions in order to feel better or to relieve oneself. Criteria B requires that the
obsessions and/or compulsions be time consuming (more than one hour) or cause clinically significant
distress or impairments in important areas of function. SaraBeth has stated that can spend three to four
hours during the day engaged in checking behaviors. Criteria C entails that the obsessions compulsive
symptoms are not attributable to the physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition.
SaraBeth currently has no indication of a medical condition or substance use prior to the first onset of
her obsessive compulsive symptoms. Criteria D requires that the disturbance not better explained by
the symptoms of another medical condition. Currently there is no evidence

Satan In John Milton s Paradise Lost
When hearing the word Satan , people often think of a red man with horns, a pitchfork, and a tail; he is
often visualized in the pits of the underworld surrounded by flames. Why does society picture him this
way? Some may say Because he is evil or Because he fell from heaven , but people mostly believe this
because this is what they were taught. Satan is a figure appearing in many texts of religion as someone
who brings evil and temptation. He is known as the deceiver who leads humanity astray, like he
deceived Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Some religious groups teach that he originated as an
angel, or something like an angel, who used to possess great piety and beauty, but fell because of
pride. He seduced humanity into the ways of falsehood and sin, and has power in the fallen world; in
other groups, Satan, also called the devil, is described as a more malevolent entity opposed to God.
Although Satan is generally viewed as having negative characteristics, some groups have very
different beliefs. Throughout literature, Satan has been represented as the evillest entity to ever have
existed, but Satan is not truly as evil as he is portrayed because he is more of an anti hero or Byronic
Hero in texts such as John Milton s Paradise Lost as well as other academic scholars arguments, rather
than being a complete antagonist. According to the Christian s perspective of the Bible, before Adam
and Eve, God made the angels. The most beautiful angel God made was named

A Career as a Psychologist Essay
Psychologists are very important people; they help millions of people with their everyday struggles
and problems that they have to deal with. Not only do psychologists help people with problems that
they cannot handle on their own, they also are scientists who study human minds and behaviors. With
being a psychologist, there are many different careers to choose from within this profession (Explore
Health Careers). The first type of psychologists to choose from is a clinical psychologist. Clinical
psychologists help people with counseling and psychotherapy. They work with people who have all

Next is an organization psychologist, which helps in the productivity of groups and individuals in a
workplace. These types of psychologists focus on improving the function of organizations, and to keep
individuals healthy within the organization (Psyris). Another type of psychology to choose from is a
counseling psychologist. These are important psychologists because they teach people how to deal
with their everyday problems. They help their patients determine their problems and help them
understand the problems they are facing. Not only do counseling psychologists help their patients with
the issues they are experiencing at home but also in their workplace or their community in general. By
helping their patients identify their strengths and resources, is how counseling psychologists help them
with their problems (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The next type of psychology is the developmental
psychologist. Developmental psychologists work with psychological processes and development that
takes place throughout life. They study aging and problems the elderly may face, but this type of
psychologist mainly focuses on children and adolescents (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The last type of
psychologist to choose from is the social

Monosaccharides Lab Report
Experimental Purpose: In this lab we are testing for monosaccharides disaccharides and
polysaccharides. Monosaccharides are directly related to the tongues recognition of sweet things. This
saccharides are very simple which allows your tongue to taste them. Disaccharides and
polysaccharides on the other hand are too complicated for our tongues to pick up the sweet taste. All
these saccharides are made of the same thing. Mono means one. Poly means many. These saccharides
play a big role in our ability to taste. During our experiment we also used to chemical solutions. Iodine

solutions. Responding variable: Whether the solution has monosaccharides, disaccharides or
polysaccharides. Controlled variable: Same water temperature, same amount of water in beaker, same
amount of the water in your solution, same amount of the benedicts and/or iodine added to the test
tube per test. Experimental control: The color change of the solution caused by the benedicts or iodine
solutions added to the mixture. Validity measurements: Our experiment results are very reliable. After
every trial we always clean out the test tubes. And before we start our experiment we always set the

Symbolism In The Island Of Dr Moreau
In the novel, The Island of Dr. Moreau, written by H.G Wells, suggests that human nature is part of the
natural world; we came from nature, we live in nature, it is part of us. Human beings are born
basically good, but are forced to do bad things due to external circumstances. In the scene where
scientist Edward Prendick is trapped in a lifeboat for eight days with these two other men, Helmar and
a sailor, they began to starve and are extremely dehydrated. Helmar and the sailor begin to battle on
who gets to be cannibalized so the other two can survive. Prendick did not want to participate. The

Ward, analyzes the question, are we naturally good? by discovering the answer through scientific
experiments. He explains how scientists used two mechanisms: intuition and reflection, to boil the
complexities of basic human nature into a simple question: do we cooperate when we overcome our
intuitive selfishness with rational self control, or do we act selfishly when we override our intuitive
cooperative impulses with rational self interest? The difference between intuition and reflection is:
intuitive process operates quickly, whereas reflective process operates slowly. Scientists conducted
two experimental paradigms (the prisoner s dilemma and a public goods game ) where participants
had to make group based financial decisions requiring them to choose between acting selfishly to
maximize individual benefits or cooperatively maximizing group s benefits. The results were that
more intuitive decisions were made; associated with high levels of cooperation, than reflective. These
results suggest that our first impulse is to cooperate that Augustine and Hobbes were wrong, and that
we are fundamentally good creatures after all. Later, another experiment was conducted. Researchers
gathered 891 participants and had them play the public goods game. The twist was that the individuals
were forced to make their decision within 10 seconds. This study demonstrated

laboratory shows that while the theoretical is not within the uncertainty of the experimental, both
values are extremely similar to each other.

This calculation will be done later on. After using equation 1 to find the experimental moment of
inertia, the average and standard deviation of the five trials for No Ring and Ring were calculated
using Excel commands for average and standard deviation. The averages will be used later on in order
to calculate the experimental moment of inertia for the ring. In the next step, the theoretical moment of
inertia was calculated for the disk by using equation 2.
I_disk^th=1/2 M_d R_d^2 (2)
In the equation above, the I_disk^th is the theoretical moment of inertia of the disk, M_d is the mass
of the disk, Rd is the radius of the disk. Next, the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring was
calculated using equation 3 below.
I_ring^th=1/2 M_r (R_1^2+R_2^2) (3)
In the equation above, I_ring^this the theoretical moment of inertia of the Ring, Mr is the mass of the
ring, R_1^2 is the inner radius of the ring, and R_2^2 is the outer radius of the ring. In order to
compare the experimental and theoretical moments of inertia of the Ring, the experimental moment of
inertia of the ring alone has to be calculated. It is given that the experimental moment of the system
equals to the experimental moment of inertia of the ring plus the experimental moment of inertia of
the disk. The experimental moment of inertia can be found by solving

A Comparison Of Fried Veal Escalope With Raisins
The exchanges of cultural ideas have been critical to human development. This relates to how humans
have formed and used networks of trade and exchange through art and food. This exchange is evident
during the Roman Empire that grew to dominate Southwestern Europe, Southeastern Europe and the
Mediterranean area. As Roman civilization grew to dominate these areas, it captured and assimilated
the culture, enhancing its delicate dishes. Roman food is an expression of the cultural diffusion of the
people they interacted with and those they conquered. To analyze such cultural diffusion, the recipe
for Fried Veal Escalope with Raisins will help explain how cultural diffusion, through the rise of the
Roman Empire, inspired such delicate culinary delicacies

Hebrew Wisdom on Diligence and Laziness There is a great deal of Hebrew wisdom in the Bible in
regards to the subjects of diligence and laziness. Throughout the book of Proverbs the words of lazy
and diligence can be found in many different forms. Sluggish, sluggard, and idle describe laziness.
The word diligence can also be considered as, thorough, attentive, and persistence. Each of these
words, found in the Bible, can reference diligence, and laziness within Hebrew Wisdom in many
cases.

A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies (Proverbs 14:24 25). Being a diligent
man does not mean to hoard what the Lord has given you, but to share the knowledge and wisdom of
God with all he comes in contact with. Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be
like him (Proverbs 26:4). This is a warning to those who walk with the Lord in their hearts. Do not
answer a fool in a foolish manner; answer them with the wisdom that God has given you. Share the
wisdom of God so they might change their ways.
The Bible paints us the picture of being diligent as one of being thorough, persistent and works hard.
They keep the ways of the Lord in their heart. Those of folly lack the sense to know the difference in
what they are doing is not the ways of the Lord. As for those that are speaking of as lazy, they are lost
and doomed to a life of strife, hardship, and ultimately final judgment to the fiery depths. Only the
wisdom of a diligent man can help save those of folly and lazy, and guide them toward God.

Villehardouin s Memoirs Of The Fourth Crusades
While the definition of historiography has been slightly amended over time, the study of the way
history has been and is written appears to be the approved meaning.1 Essentially, from my
understanding, historiography is the evaluation of interpretations by historians over time. For example,
Geoffrey de Villehardouin s Memoirs of the Fourth Crusades stands out as a prominent historical
foundation, as very few written accounts of the Crusades describe the political, economic, religious
and military events preceding up to, and subsequently succeeding, from a [the] first person
standpoint.2 Memoirs of the Fourth Crusade is thus reviewed as a uniquely distinguishable, primary
source that affords historians with an incomparable written record ... Show more content on

The historiography falls within the realm of how Shaw, Morris and Marzials reviewed Villehardouin s
work. The historical evaluation would therefore be researching into the sources these authors used, the
degree of knowledge they possess, et al. For historians and students alike, we must appreciate the
necessity to evaluate every aspect independently in an aid to draw our own conclusions; whether they
fall in line with the works reviewed, or follow a completely different pathway. History has always
been exposed to bias at its core, depending upon the circumstances. I believe historiography unravels
any degree of bias. In fact, the more I have read this past week, the more I can remember a former
history professor advising me that when I conduct research, to always have three notebooks handy;
one for the notes I was taking, one to annotate additional sources referenced throughout the work, and
the third is for asking questions beyond the historical fact or event, it is how others have observed the

Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant
Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant
Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have
engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and
principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way (Firchow
94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way starting from
the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the rains, (25) to the
characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the bazaars alone
somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with the narrator,
whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein,
Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated by many of the
natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman)
looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One morning, Orwell
receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native Burman. Ultimately
forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and trying not to let down
the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). Orwell shoots the elephant essentially killing him. The
elephants death shows the complex range of human

##bolic Implications Of JesusExorcism In The Bible
In the synoptic gospels, Jesus exorcisms are portrayed as one of the major acts in Jesus mission to the
kingdom of God. The gospels not only narrate Jesus casting out the demons and cleansing the
possessed bodies, but also implicitly suggests the controversy he evokes among the Jewish and Roman
authorities of Judea and Galilee. The context of New Testament Gospels is deeply rooted in the Greco
Roman world and as such paints the background of the Jesus actions and messages. Several scholarly
publications that analyze biblical texts from the social science perspective have established a
relationship between the politics and religion of the ancient world.
The aim of this paper is to assess the events of demon possession and exorcism narrated in the Bible
not from a theological perspective but from sociopolitical standpoint. Drawing references from
scholarly publications on Bible, this paper would investigate the symbolic meanings of Jesus exorcism
in socio political sphere of Galilee and Judea at the very beginning of the first century. This paper
heavily relies upon the concepts proposed by Amanda Witmer in her publication Jesus, the Galilean
Exorcist, His Exorcisms in Social and Political Context.
The historically accurate reconstruction of Jesus is extremely improbable. This is largely due to the
limited quantity of resources survived and those that do, New Testament Gospels, are written under
the lens of religious followers. As such, there exists great challenge in

Tony Montana Quotes
B. Scarface
Tony Montana is a very vulgar person, able to drop any manner of language that can offend a person.
Arrogant, violent and very frank, assuring to Sosa that the only thing he has in this world is his word
and his balls . Tony is the survivor that has no qualms on killing other people if it can guarantee
money and food. His ruthlessness will eventually land him a position in Frank Lopez s drug cartel and
will steadily make a name in the Miami underworld. He also developed a liking to Frank s mistress,
Elvira. With his excessive push to expand, he eventually gunned down Frank and took Elvira, and

just cold to strangers. It is not known if she has any inner desire to make peace with her habits, as she
evidently sad at the life she is leading.
C. Comparison
The film has a notable distinction in its characters. The Godfather has the honor of having a more
refined set of characters in regards of execution and the distribution of traits, in comparison. Scarface
has characters that are spread thin, with the few having the most concentration of traits. Tony, Manny,
Gina, Elvira and Sosa are the only notable characters that have concentrated traits.
Michael and Tony s personalities are polar opposites. Michael is a law abiding citizen, aspiring to live
a normal life with his girlfriend, Kay. He was only dragged into family affairs after the attempted hit
on his father, Vito. He still strives to be normal even when he is now a criminal yet the sequels suggest
he failed. Tony is readily a criminal, since his background is easily identified. He was keen on living

Anolis Lizard Research Paper
Similar to the Galapagos finches, Anolis lizards of the Caribbean islands have evolved into an
extremely diverse species, and it can be assumed that these series of species all diverged from a
common ancestor many years ago. Therefore, biologists have developed two contrasting theories to
explain the evolutionary relationships between the types of Caribbean Anolis lizards. Either the
ecomorphs all evolved on one, large island and then split onto different islands, or the ecomorphs
evolved repeatedly and independently from each other on separate islands. Based on the data, the
latter is most heavily supported that speciation of the Anolis lizards occurred on different islands and
from common ancestors independent from each other. Perhaps the most striking evidence is the
patterns in the cladograms of the organisms. If the first claim were true, both the origin and the type of
lizard would be grouped together on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the ecomorphs to evolve all on one island and then separate involves the movement of lizard
species possibly across expanses of open ocean. Depending on the time frame, the Caribbean islands
may have been one unit of land that later divided from the whole due to tectonic plates, but without
prior knowledge, the examiner may assume that the relatively small lizards must have needed to swim
across perhaps miles of ocean. This factor makes Claim 1 nearly irrational, when combined with the
data of the cladograms. For Claim 2, however, if the Anole species of lizard evolved through
adaptation of a common ancestor on each of the islands, it is plausible that lizards physically similar to
each other could appear on each of the islands individually. With similar climates, the environments
and landscape of each of the islands are equally diverse, creating the opportunity for the lizards to

Pan Europa s Main Issues
II. Issue Identification Pan Europa s main issues can be divided into three parts, the first and most
important being their financial struggle. Due to a recent price war, Pan Europa s profitability has
suffered greatly. Their debt equity ratio of 1.25 and price to earnings ratio of 8 times has resulted in a
below average stock price. Currently, their stock is being traded below book value and well below its
competition. This can have a disastrous effect on the company as many major security brokers are
labeling the stock as uncertain and issuing sell recommendations to investors. This can result in the
rapid sale of equity that would deflate Pan Europa s value even further. Such an event also opens the
door for a hostile takeover, as a third party can quickly acquire a large portion of equity. A high debt
equity ratio and historically high debt financing initiatives increases potential for financial distress,
and possibly bankruptcy, if they cannot recover sufficient funds to cover their cost of debt The second
issue faced by Pan Europa has to do with their external environment. Low population growth in
northern Europe coupled with increasingly saturated markets has resulted in stagnant sales. As
competition intensifies, Pan Europa is forced to make risky decisions, such as the provocation of a
price war mentioned above. Although they may cause smaller, weaker firms to exit the market in the
short term, these rash decisions have impacted Pan Europa s bottom line.

Tregs Immune System
Healthy individuals have their immune system working properly to protect them from pathogens.
Leukocytes are a part of the immune system that circulate in the blood (white cells). Lymphocytes are
one subset of leukocytes that recognize and respond to their specific antigens (e.g. peptides from an
external agent). T cells are a group of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus. Under exposure to their
specific antigen, conventional T cells are activated, leading to secretion of growth cytokines
(predominantly interleukine 2, denoted IL 2), and expression of the interleukine 2 receptor which
triggers cytokine driven proliferation cite{deboer87,thornton98,BOP2006}. However, the immune

The asymmetry introduced in cite{PBFO2010ECMTB}, and studied in this paper, is modeled by
considering that the secreting T cells have a lower death rate than the non secreting T cells and that the

memory T cells. Memory T cells last longer than the other T cells and react more promptly to their
specific antigen cite{Rogers2000}.

With this asymmetry, an increase in the antigenic stimulation of T cells results in an increase in the

The Definition of Organic Foods Should Be Redefined Essay
Organic versus non organic foods are always being debated to whether they are worth the extra cost.
This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a conclusion.
Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many people have their
own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research assignment, was that
organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or preservatives and grown in a
humane way. Meaning that if it said 100% organic, that is what was meant. This however, is not the
case when it comes to the government s definition of organic, according to T. A. Niewold who wrote,

If these claims prove to be true, as some research suggests, then this may be well worth the cost if one
can afford them. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic (hence the
necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are several reasons for
us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up being. One reason to eat
organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy or what is more
commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human form of this disease called New Variant
Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). This disease was first brought to light in the 1990 s in Europe by
the discovery of link between these two diseases (Freudenrich, 3). If one had lived in Europe in the
early 90 s, for at least six months, (as my family and I did) they may have been exposed to this
disease. In the past, cows (who are naturally herbivores) were fed remnants of dead and dying sheep.
Sheep that possibly had the disease called, Scrapie which is similar to BSE, and could explain the
reason for the infection to have started in cows, eventually jumping to humans (Freudenrich, 6). The
theory of how this disease came about varies, but one of the most prevalent relates to a protein called a
prion . These prions are allowed access to the

The True Nature Of Moral Responsibility
The theory that I find true to the true nature of moral responsibility and its relation to human freedom
and determinism would be compatibilism. Compatibilism is the claim that we are both determined and
that we have moral responsibility (Lawhead 120).
It offers a solution to the free will problem. Free will goes along with determinism because of the
moral responsibility and it is incompatibility between each other. We are still held responsible for our
voluntary actions and our actions are still determined. Because free will is typically taken to be a
necessary condition of moral responsibility, compatibilism is sometimes expressed as a thesis about
the compatibility between moral responsibility and determinism (McKenna). He or she can be morally
responsible even if determinism is true, which there are logical reasons that this could be true. In this
paper I will defend how compatibilism is tied up with both freedom and moral responsibility and give
some examples that will support my argument for compatibilism. Also talk about the other two,
determinism and libertarianism and give examples and then explain why I still agree on
compatibilism. Free will is like a box of chocolates, unless you do not eat the free will chocolates, you
will not feel guilty. How can one feel guilty for what they are compelled to do?
It also depends on how we explain free will; free will in this case is how one acts out on their own
will. Our genetics can determine how we can act. When our

Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist
When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer,
Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The
athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act
spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs
to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist,
1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but
is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the
situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the
entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)?
To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler
thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a
similar scenario. During a match to determine the better of two Wushu styles, Hou s father meets
defeat when he became lost in thought. In these situations, the individuals would have a higher chance
of success if they acted on intuition rather than critical thinking. On the other hand, would acting on
inspiration would be best during a test or homework assignment? While working on school

During the age of where he was to attend school, France was at war and as a result he had to be taught

Plant Growth Of The Brassica Rapa
Background There is a drought in California which is in turn affecting the number of crops that can be
grown in a given amount of time. Farmers now must find a way to grow crops in an economical
fashion while also maximizing each yield as much as possible. However, plant growth can be
influenced by seed variety, the amount of water, the soil type, amount of light, etc., and many other
variables. For this experiment, we are testing the growth of the Brassica rapa, a mustard plant under
the same conditions of water, sunlight, and oxygen, with two different treatment solutions. There will
be two pots, one has a treatment of just deionized water and the other a treatment of fertilizer as well
as deionized water. Because the fertilizer has the added benefit of nitrogen, phosphorous, and
potassium along with the same quantity of deionized water as the first pot, it is hypothesized that both
sets of plants will grow, however the pot with fertilizer will grow more than the pot with just water

William Shakespeare s The Shadows
As the day went on strange thing continued to occur. In math the shadows seemed to be constantly
moving as if they were watching her. Sylvia tried moving to different seats and walking around ,but it
seemed that everywhere she went to shadows made an effort to follow. When she was alone in the
restroom the shadows started inching their way towards her in what seemed like an effort to consumer
her. Then some random girl walk in and they went back to shadows. You must really be losing it
Sylvia thought to herself.
When the end of the day finally came Sylvia was more unnerved than ever. Pushing open the heavy
door and heading outside Sylvia was relaxed by the warmth of the sun. Tho the weather was still cold

unable to look Rosalie in the eye.
What do you mean? asked Nate hopping down from the hood of his car and walking over to her.
I saw her dead behind the school Sylvia said as Loretta came up next to her.
That can t be. She s been here with us. Loretta said no pulling Sylvia into a side hug.
You must have soon some kid that overdosed who looks like her. Why don t we go check. Nate said.

Analysis Of The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Often times, a son may be forced or obligated to do something for their family that doesn t benefit
him. The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, explores Gregor s role as a provider in the Samsa family,
and how this role inhibits his progress and freedom. This novella demonstrates how people are
unaware of the situations that confine them, which they have no control over. In Gregor s case, he
remains trapped as a traveling salesman, a job which he dislikes, due to his lack of agency regarding
family responsibilities and potential for social advancement (movement). Only after his
metamorphosis does Gregor realize that his freedom and quality of life have been impeded by his
family obligations and lack of movement. Gregor s obligations to his family result in his inextricable
role as a provider for the Samsas. Because of the large debt accrued by his father, Gregor has been
working for the past five years, and must work an estimated six or seven more years in order to repay
it. During this decade of work, he must give up his own aspirations and individuality in order to
provide for the family. Gregor became a traveling salesman because he felt obligated, or was forced to
reverse the debt, however, he is unaware that his job is a trap from which he will never escape.
Moreover, instead of acknowledging this hidden trap, he feels great pride in the fact that he had been
able to provide such a life for his parents and sister (72). Gregor is too distracted by the fact that he s

The Mystery Of Detective Fiction
Detective Fiction exists as one of the most popular fiction genres of all time. Detective fiction uses
facts and other details to solve a mystery which surrounds a perplexing murder in a novel. Many
people gain excitement over a challenge or a test of knowledge when solving a puzzle. A puzzle may
baffle or confuse the puzzler; therefore, the puzzler likes to solve the puzzle before the ending. People
enjoy the experience of sheer satisfaction of solving a mystery before ending the literary work.
Curiosity describes itself as the desire to learn or know about anything; inquisitiveness (Dictionary).
Curiosity somehow leads people on the path to try to solve a mystery or a puzzle. It remains a
question of why people desire to solve a puzzle. Maybe their inquisitive mind drives them to solve the
puzzle or a mystery. Often after the reader finishes reading a detective novel and solving the mystery
before the reveal of the murderer, they find this satisfying to their curiosity. Thus they begin to
continue reading more mystery fictional novels. The birth of detective fiction surfaced around the 19th
century (Gaines). The Moonstone novel considered the first detective novel written (Sahni). The novel
created by Wilkie Collins established the ground rules for detective novels. Before the detective
fiction surfaced, many novels conveyed the murderer as the innocent one, instead of the victim as the
innocent one. These works of fiction, unfortunately did not

  • 2. Essay On Hotel Rwanda Terry Georges film Hotel Rwanda focuses deeply into the life of Paul Rusesabagina, of whom Is also identified as the hotel manager who saved the lives of 1200 Tutsis and Tutsi supporters. It sparks awareness to the 1994 massacre that was carried out by the Hutu rebels in Rwanda. The film allows viewers to engage in the issue through its emotional and intense screenplay. New York Times critic Stephen Holding brands Hotel Rwanda on the entertainment aspect of violence and emotions, but ignores the true human nature of the Rwandan Genocide. Holding argues that Hotel Rwanda radically downplays the actual gore, which is observed through a film or from a distance. Bodies are strewn everywhere, but the streets don t run with blood, and no hideous mutilation is shown. Even the beatings seem tentative. This is true and is seen when Paul Rusesabagina and his driver, Gregoire, go out to get supplies for the Hotel. This particular scene is very foggy and when Paul steps out of the vehicle, he sees that there are dead bodies surrounding him. Hotel Rwanda is a rated PG 13 film. Thus, includes a mostly non graphic depiction of the genocide. However, contrary to what Holding says, it is not a flaw. Due to the film being less violent, it allows for younger viewers to be exposed to the issue, rather than a smaller audience. The primary focus of the film is not the act of killing itself, rather the fact that there was a genocide. The fact itself that 800,00 people died simply for being part of ... • 3. The Negative Effects Of Video Games On The Four Domains Of... Topic: Video Games Introduction When it comes to emerging adulthood, video games is controversial topic on whether it is beneficial, non beneficial, or possibly a mix of both. Emerging adulthood can be defined as the period of someone s life from the age of 18 25, in which they explore the possibilities of multiple life decisions. My early emerging adulthood years consisted of playing multiple video games, to be specific, massive multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPG or MMO for short). There are many different versions of MMO but they all share the characteristics of keeping up with multiple variables, swift decision making, and retaining a vast amount of information. These requirements had long lasting beneficial effects on my mental processes, decision making, memory, perception and awareness. On the other hand, it negatively affected my self esteem, physical fitness and connection with my family. This paper will ultimately examine the effects of video games on my late emerging adulthood years within the context of the four domains of human development, cognitive, social, emotional, and physiological. Cognitive Developmental Domain The beneficial effects of MMOs on my mental processes can be related to intelligence, or also referred to as the way in which we organize, process, and receive information. • 4. Advantages Of Semi-Structured Interview When choosing the most effective research method, you must first decide on the kind of answers you are searching for. A quantitative method will find answers that are easily measured and follow trends and patterns. The qualitative method, however, leads to answers that explore differences in meanings and contexts. This essay will explore semi structured interviews, a qualitative method that identifies themes and responses from preset open questions. The method is utilised for its opportunity to present rich information and answers that would not be found in a formally structured interview. The success of this method is reliant on the quality of its key elements, as well as the assumption of integrity with both participants and research team. Because these factors are never guaranteed, this essay will discuss how semi structured interviews may operate to create credible research and where limitations will lie. The semi structured interview is a research method that collects qualitative data from a set of open questions and conversation. It s flexibility separates itself from the quantitative methods in surveying and standardised interviewing (Bryman, 2012). Instead of quickly sortable data, semi structured interviews gather information that emphasise the themes and new ideas. The method structure is very flexible, with only a brief guide to direct the interviews. While quantitative methods generally reflect the researchers ideas, semi structured interviews inquire more into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Realism In International Relations Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402). Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000) through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations (Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ... philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). The tale of his demise has been retold many times throughout history. The myth has been honored in art, songs, poetry and by literature artists, with one apparently inspiring the other to explore the tale in one different approach or another. Three of the most appealing of these versions of the tale of Icarus can be found in the poems Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden, Landscape with the Fall of Icarus by W. C. Williams, and Waiting for Icarus by Muriel Rukeyser. Even though the three poems talk about Icarus s fall, each covers it in a different way. Muriel Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus makes no apparent connection with Breughel s painting. Indeed, while the painting and works of the previous two poets convey a sense of obliviousness to the fact that a boy has just died, in Waiting for Icarus, Rukeyser considers the event from a more personal and emotional perspective. This poem concentrates abandonment, and everything comes to an end. A woman tells a story about her relationship with a man whom she loves and anticipates his return, a man who promises her so many things. He puts her trust in him and waits for him, only to find out her lover is man of words not deed, for none of his promises are fulfilled. He promises her that he will be back and that their relationship is going to work out for the best. He asks her to wait for his return at the beach and not to cry. She waits for him, but he abandons her; she finds out that everything in life has an end. The day ends with the arrival of night. When there is life, death will always follow. Her love story ends with Icarus s death, broken promises, regret, and heartbreak. Rukeyser, in Waiting for Icarus, conveys emotion and sensitivity that is also alluded to by W. H. Auden and W. C. Williams in their wonderment at why the world has not noticed Icarus in Musee des Beaux Art, and Landscape with the fall of Icarus. However, Rukeyser s poem portrays love, anticipation, ... • 9. The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s life. Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still maintaining a level of discipline. One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever. In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western ... • 11. Satan In John Milton s Paradise Lost When hearing the word Satan , people often think of a red man with horns, a pitchfork, and a tail; he is often visualized in the pits of the underworld surrounded by flames. Why does society picture him this way? Some may say Because he is evil or Because he fell from heaven , but people mostly believe this because this is what they were taught. Satan is a figure appearing in many texts of religion as someone who brings evil and temptation. He is known as the deceiver who leads humanity astray, like he deceived Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Some religious groups teach that he originated as an angel, or something like an angel, who used to possess great piety and beauty, but fell because of pride. He seduced humanity into the ways of falsehood and sin, and has power in the fallen world; in other groups, Satan, also called the devil, is described as a more malevolent entity opposed to God. Although Satan is generally viewed as having negative characteristics, some groups have very different beliefs. Throughout literature, Satan has been represented as the evillest entity to ever have existed, but Satan is not truly as evil as he is portrayed because he is more of an anti hero or Byronic Hero in texts such as John Milton s Paradise Lost as well as other academic scholars arguments, rather than being a complete antagonist. Ward, analyzes the question, are we naturally good? by discovering the answer through scientific experiments. He explains how scientists used two mechanisms: intuition and reflection, to boil the complexities of basic human nature into a simple question: do we cooperate when we overcome our intuitive selfishness with rational self control, or do we act selfishly when we override our intuitive cooperative impulses with rational self interest? The difference between intuition and reflection is: intuitive process operates quickly, whereas reflective process operates slowly. Scientists conducted two experimental paradigms (the prisoner s dilemma and a public goods game ) where participants had to make group based financial decisions requiring them to choose between acting selfishly to maximize individual benefits or cooperatively maximizing group s benefits. The results were that more intuitive decisions were made; associated with high levels of cooperation, than reflective. These results suggest that our first impulse is to cooperate that Augustine and Hobbes were wrong, and that we are fundamentally good creatures after all. Later, another experiment was conducted. Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way (Firchow 94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way starting from the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the rains, (25) to the characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the bazaars alone somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with the narrator, whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein, Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated by many of the natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One morning, Orwell receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native Burman. Ultimately forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and trying not to let down the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). Orwell shoots the elephant essentially killing him. The elephants death shows the complex range of human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The gospels not only narrate Jesus casting out the demons and cleansing the possessed bodies, but also implicitly suggests the controversy he evokes among the Jewish and Roman authorities of Judea and Galilee. The context of New Testament Gospels is deeply rooted in the Greco Roman world and as such paints the background of the Jesus actions and messages. Several scholarly publications that analyze biblical texts from the social science perspective have established a relationship between the politics and religion of the ancient world. The aim of this paper is to assess the events of demon possession and exorcism narrated in the Bible not from a theological perspective but from sociopolitical standpoint. Drawing references from scholarly publications on Bible, this paper would investigate the symbolic meanings of Jesus exorcism in socio political sphere of Galilee and Judea at the very beginning of the first century. This paper heavily relies upon the concepts proposed by Amanda Witmer in her publication Jesus, the Galilean Exorcist, His Exorcisms in Social and Political Context. The historically accurate reconstruction of Jesus is extremely improbable. This is largely due to the limited quantity of resources survived and those that do, New Testament Gospels, are written under the lens of religious followers. Anolis Lizard Research Paper Similar to the Galapagos finches, Anolis lizards of the Caribbean islands have evolved into an extremely diverse species, and it can be assumed that these series of species all diverged from a common ancestor many years ago. Therefore, biologists have developed two contrasting theories to explain the evolutionary relationships between the types of Caribbean Anolis lizards. Either the ecomorphs all evolved on one, large island and then split onto different islands, or the ecomorphs evolved repeatedly and independently from each other on separate islands. Based on the data, the latter is most heavily supported that speciation of the Anolis lizards occurred on different islands and from common ancestors independent from each other. Perhaps the most striking evidence is the patterns in the cladograms of the organisms. If the first claim were true, both the origin and the type of lizard would be grouped together on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the ecomorphs to evolve all on one island and then separate involves the movement of lizard species possibly across expanses of open ocean. Depending on the time frame, the Caribbean islands may have been one unit of land that later divided from the whole due to tectonic plates, but without prior knowledge, the examiner may assume that the relatively small lizards must have needed to swim across perhaps miles of ocean. This factor makes Claim 1 nearly irrational, when combined with the data of the cladograms. For Claim 2, however, if the Anole species of lizard evolved through adaptation of a common ancestor on each of the islands, it is plausible that lizards physically similar to each other could appear on each of the islands individually. With similar climates, the environments and landscape of each of the islands are equally diverse, creating the opportunity for the lizards to combat competition through ... • 27. Pan Europa s Main Issues II. Issue Identification Pan Europa s main issues can be divided into three parts, the first and most important being their financial struggle. Due to a recent price war, Pan Europa s profitability has suffered greatly. Their debt equity ratio of 1.25 and price to earnings ratio of 8 times has resulted in a below average stock price. Currently, their stock is being traded below book value and well below its competition. This can have a disastrous effect on the company as many major security brokers are labeling the stock as uncertain and issuing sell recommendations to investors. This can result in the rapid sale of equity that would deflate Pan Europa s value even further. Such an event also opens the door for a hostile takeover, as a third party can quickly acquire a large portion of equity. A high debt equity ratio and historically high debt financing initiatives increases potential for financial distress, and possibly bankruptcy, if they cannot recover sufficient funds to cover their cost of debt The second issue faced by Pan Europa has to do with their external environment. Low population growth in northern Europe coupled with increasingly saturated markets has resulted in stagnant sales. As competition intensifies, Pan Europa is forced to make risky decisions, such as the provocation of a price war mentioned above. Although they may cause smaller, weaker firms to exit the market in the short term, these rash decisions have impacted Pan Europa s bottom line. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leukocytes are a part of the immune system that circulate in the blood (white cells). Lymphocytes are one subset of leukocytes that recognize and respond to their specific antigens (e.g. peptides from an external agent). T cells are a group of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus. Under exposure to their specific antigen, conventional T cells are activated, leading to secretion of growth cytokines (predominantly interleukine 2, denoted IL 2), and expression of the interleukine 2 receptor which triggers cytokine driven proliferation cite{deboer87,thornton98,BOP2006}. Memory T cells last longer than the other T cells and react more promptly to their specific antigen cite{Rogers2000}. % With this asymmetry, an increase in the antigenic stimulation of T cells results in an increase in the population size of T cells caused both by the increase in cytokine secretion and by the decrease in the average death rate of T cells, thereby improving the efficiency of the immune responses cite{PBFO2010ECMTB, BFOP2011Trans, BFOP2011Bystander}. This seems to be an easy question, at first, but begs a more in depth analysis to come to a conclusion. Organic definitions can vary by government, company and even individuals. Many people have their own ideas of what organic means. My personal definition, before this research assignment, was that organic products were grown with no pesticides, chemical additives, or preservatives and grown in a humane way. In the case of the meat we eat, how do we know that it is truly organic (hence the necessity for a more strict definition), and why do we even need it to be? There are several reasons for us to eat organic meat, depending on what the definition ultimately ends up being. One reason to eat organic meat is the fact of the spread of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy or what is more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease. There is a human form of this disease called New Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (NCJD). • 31. The True Nature Of Moral Responsibility The theory that I find true to the true nature of moral responsibility and its relation to human freedom and determinism would be compatibilism. Compatibilism is the claim that we are both determined and that we have moral responsibility (Lawhead 120). It offers a solution to the free will problem. Free will goes along with determinism because of the moral responsibility and it is incompatibility between each other. We are still held responsible for our voluntary actions and our actions are still determined. Because free will is typically taken to be a necessary condition of moral responsibility, compatibilism is sometimes expressed as a thesis about the compatibility between moral responsibility and determinism (McKenna). He or she can be morally responsible even if determinism is true, which there are logical reasons that this could be true. In this paper I will defend how compatibilism is tied up with both freedom and moral responsibility and give some examples that will support my argument for compatibilism. Also talk about the other two, determinism and libertarianism and give examples and then explain why I still agree on compatibilism. Free will is like a box of chocolates, unless you do not eat the free will chocolates, you will not feel guilty. How can one feel guilty for what they are compelled to do? • 36. Life As A Contest With Fate By Heinrich Von Kleist When is the proper moment to think? Is it better to think before, during, or after an action? The writer, Heinrich von Kleist, argues that one should think after an act. He uses the example of a wrestler, The athlete, at that moment when he is holding his opponent in his grip, simply has no recourse but to act spontaneously, on inspiration; and if he begins to calculate which muscles to contract and which limbs to move in order to throw him, he will always draw the short straw and be thrown himself (Kleist, 1810). In this example Kleist is correct that it is more appropriate to reflect on your actions rather, but is this logic acceptable in all occasions? Or when an individual should think be dependent on the situation at hand? In the same essay, Kleist states life itself is a contest with fate , however should the entirety of life be treated as a contest (Kleist, 1810)? To begin with, is it better to think while you act? In the example stated previously, when the wrestler thought during he s match, he resulted as the loser. In the film Fearless, Huo Yuannjia s father faced a similar scenario. Farmers now must find a way to grow crops in an economical fashion while also maximizing each yield as much as possible. However, plant growth can be influenced by seed variety, the amount of water, the soil type, amount of light, etc., and many other variables. For this experiment, we are testing the growth of the Brassica rapa, a mustard plant under the same conditions of water, sunlight, and oxygen, with two different treatment solutions. This novella demonstrates how people are unaware of the situations that confine them, which they have no control over. In Gregor s case, he remains trapped as a traveling salesman, a job which he dislikes, due to his lack of agency regarding family responsibilities and potential for social advancement (movement).
