The Lion King ( Film )
The Lion King (FILM)
This Disney animated film follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father,
Mufasa. Simba s wicked uncle, Scar plots to usurp Mufasa s throne by luring father and son into a
stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to
take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa.
The first theme in the film the The Lion King would have to be manipulation. Although this theme
may just be linked to Scar, I will mention it because he is a main character. A second example of
manipulation would have to be when Scar says I will be king. Stick with me, and you ll never go
hungry again! This quote is clear evidence that manipulation is a key theme because Scar constantly
manipulates a lot of people. This quote also shows us that Scar manipulates the hyenas because he
says you ll never go hungry , when in actual fact they do. Scar just manipulates the hyenas because he
wants them to become his soldiers for him. Another example of manipulation would have to be when
Scar says Now, you wait here. Your father has a marvelous surprise for you. This quote shows that
Scar manipulates Simba because he wants to become king of Pride rock. These quotes also show that
the purpose of Scar s manipulation is due to greed. An example of manipulation is when Scar says But
the king is dead. And if it weren t for you, he d still be alive . This shows that Scar

Evil In Christianity And Islam
The constant representation of evil is hard to come by, since good and evil is understood to be the
greatest opposition in human existence. Evil is everywhere, at all the times and all around us. Is it a
real thing with a sizeable influence or is an absolute truth, or nonexistence? The mystery of evil has
been appearing for centuries within all religions, where the meaning and magnitude of it has been
questioned and re exanimated through different considerations. A comprehensive collection of visions
has been taken on evil in scientific descriptions and written works. Should we consider the better
answer of evil that is provided by religion, such as Christianity, Islam, or that of science? If not, than a
real life may bring the recognition of evil. Once, John Paul II said, Science can purify religion from
error and superstition. Religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. How is this
perception connected to the understanding of evil entirely?
When philosophers of religion and theologians address the issue of evil, they mostly look into the
relation between the existence of evil and God as a creator. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Islam, the evil spirit is called Iblis, or sometimes Shaytan. Islam is a major religion in world. It s
basic foundation came from Muhammad, PDUH who is the Prophet of this religion. According to the
Koran, Islam is the universal religion since it acts upon the laws of God, known as Allah. The Koran
distinctly indicates that God is the only authority in outlining good and evil; therefore, true knowledge
comes only from God. People are mostly predisposed to do well. However, the existence of Shaytan
and human basic needs that drive people to do evil. Based on the Koran, forgiveness is a goodness of

The Author s Experiences of Opression in Loraine...
Loraine Hansberry s A Raisin in The Sun and Milcha Sanchez Scott s The Cuban Swimmer both
capture the authors past experiences of oppression, and convey their struggles with identity. Both
authors are from minority cultures, and both describe the same harsh pressures from the dominant
culture. Both author s share situations of being outcasts, coming from different racial backgrounds and
trying to triumph over these obstacles.
A Raisin in the Sun and The Cuban Swimmer both share common themes, themes of discrimination,
dreams, opportunity, and gender roles. Between both plays one theme stood out the most, which was
simply the importance of family. The Younger family in A Raisin in the Sun is struggling socially and
economically, but comes together in the end to purchase a home. Walter and Benetha learn the value
of family toward the end of the play. Benetha denies Walter as a brother after he looses the large
amount money that was going to contribute to her schooling, in a get rich quick scheme. The family
has come together to deny Mr. Lindner racist remarks regarding the home. Lena youngers dream of
the family coming together to purchase a brand new home is now her reality.
In The Cuban Swimmer the whole play surrounds a Cuban American family on a raggedy boat
following their daughter swimming from San Pedro to Catalina Island, off the coast of California.

Max Weber And The Transactional Leadership
The transactional leadership was firstly talked and elaborated in 1947 by Max Weber and described
more in 1981 by Bernard M. Bass. It is a style of leadership that leaders provides their subordinates
with rewards or punishments. It can be called management theories. This style mainly encourages and
directs subordinates or followers by providing incentives. The power of this leadership derives from
the control, rules and regulation of companies. Particularly, managers use the transactional style.
(Odumeru Ifeanyi, 2013)
Focusing on the fundamental management processes of preparing, controlling, and planning for short
period. The significant point of subordinators or followers is to follow the instructions of the manager
or leader. It may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passive management: The transactional leader can only intervene if tasks do not meet the criteria or do
not meet expectations. He/she may provide a punishment to the one who performances incorrectly.
Laissez faire: the transactional leaders give a lot of chances followers for decisions making. So,
leaders themselves give up their responsibilities and try to avoid decisions making, then organizations
tend to have unclear direction.
Implications in an organization:
They focus on the short term goals as well as standard regulation and methods. Also, the followers are
not support to improve their innovation and new ideas. This leadership style can work if the
organization s issues are normal and clearly explained. When the existing objective is not meet, these
leaders often do not provide benefit or rewards to subordinates.
Characteristic
On the other hand, reducing costs and increasing productivity are done effectively in this style.
Leaders strongly instructive, and their communication with the members is often short term, not for
long term relationship. So its characteristic is concentrate only on short term objective, not flexible to
new situations, not support in changes or update ideas. Also, it fits with structured rules or methods,
and just do things rightly.
(Transactional Leadership Theory, n.d)

Transactional leaders perform great in a structured organization. And the subordinates will get rewards

Religion vs. Nature in Wallace Stevens “Sunday Morning”...
Wallace Stevens Sunday Morning illustrates the battle between choosing religion or not. The
Christianity faith puts you in a constant ritual of Sunday church. The woman decided to take a Sunday
off to relax and take in the nature. While sitting on a Sunday morning and indulging in a late
breakfast, she is overwhelmed with guilt of not attending church. Complacencies of the peignoir, and
late, Coffee and oranges in a sunny chair (line 1 2).
Wallace uses imagery of the everyday world around as a way to show how we sometimes don t take
time out for nature. The woman may not have really paid much attention to her surroundings due to
her ritual of going to church all the time. Is she wrong for wanting to see life from the window of ...

Elations when the forest blooms, gusty: (line 26). In mythology we gave reverence to nature around
us. Does that not exist anymore now that we have religion? As she begins to try an understand the
magnificent things around her, she must come back to what has been taught to her that the Shall our
blood fail? Or shall it come to be the blood of paradise (line 39 40) Jesus died for our sins. She
remembers that life has pain and labor and we need Jesus who died for us to save us.
She says, I am content when wakened birds, before they fly, test the reality . This can be interpreted as
being able to see the world before religion. The reality of life gives you good and bad times so it s best
to test life before you make hard decisions that you have to live with until you leave this earth. When
you finally enter the world of religion, is paradise there? Wallace tries to answer these questions as he
allows this woman to interpret what she sees on her day of rest from church. While resting she is
moved emotionally because she feels the need for some imperishable bliss. Beauty and death in this
poem can be understood as her desires to be beautiful until your time of death approaches. Stanford
said that Beauty and Death [were] looked upon as sisters by the Romantics ... a beauty of which, the
more bitter the taste, the more abundant the enjoyment.
Stevens believed that the failings of religion could be overcome by the art

Teens, or girls in general read this magazine, and by placing an ad such as this in the magazine would
generally boost sales. Another aspect of this ad that would commonly appeal to the teen age group
would have been the choice of colors, and the background of the advertisement.
As far as background goes, historical background is also relatively important in the relevance of the TI
83+ silver edition graphing calculator advertisement. Teens have many choices when it comes to
graphing calculators, so that is probably why the author chose to include a feature that not all
calculators have. The phonebook feature would appeal greatly to the viewer, hence its purpose. This
particular feature, the phonebook, would be of importance because in the past no calculator including
all other Texas Instruments calculators has offered such a feature.
The Texas Instruments advertisement also allows the viewer to make assumptions in relation to the
pictures and text displayed on the page. These assumptions could be anything from the approximate
cost of the tool, to the pondering of the ray of colors used in the composition of the calculator itself.
These different conjectures are made due to the actual composition of the advertisement itself.
Then comes the purpose of the advertisement. The advertisement is presented to show the viewer what
a unique tool the TI 83+ silver edition is, and what new features are included in the calculator. Another

Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their
submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life.
According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in this
mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to
alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accept their stance in society. In The Stranger, by
Albert Camus, although both Raymond Sintes and Meursault violates social conventions through their
acts of violence, it is ironically through acknowledging their crimes that critiques not only their own
existence but also the empowerment of the French Civilization. ... Show more content on

After the confrontation between Sintes and his mistress brother, Meursault assists him by accepting
the revolver to use for self defense: The trigger gave;... I shook off the sweat and the sun. I knew that I
had shattered the harmony of the day, the exceptional silence of a beach where I d been happy. Then I
fired four more times at the motionless body...And it was like knocking four quick times on the door
of unhappiness (59). Meursault enters the doors of unhappiness after he fired four more times at the
motionless body . Despite being aware that he shattered the harmony of the day , he accepts his crimes
and the consequences he may endure because of it. Unlike the French society that disregards all
responsibility of imposing violence among the Arabs, Meursault admits to his faults and surrenders
himself to a lifetime of despair. Hence, through his consciousness Meursault enlightens himself to
defy social norms and continue to choose his own path in life. Subsequently, Meursault embraces his
consequences as he pleads guilty to his crime. After being sentenced to death, Meursault experiences
an epiphany as he realizes that it is through hatred and condemnation from others that brings justice to
his crimes: For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there

The Convention On International Trade Of Endangered...
Introduction to the international agreement.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was
put in place on July 1, 1975 to address the need to protect species on a global level by controlling
international trade.
The aim of CITES is to protect species that are considered endangered (Couzens, 2013). CITES uses
three Appendices to evaluate which level the endangered species should be put in. Appendix I includes
species that are threatened by extinction due to trading (Couzens, 2013). It bans any trading of these
species related to commercial purposes and any trading that could be harmful to their survival
(Wiersema, 2013; CITES). Furthermore, any export, re export and import permit must be needed for
any accepted import, export or re exported purposes (CITES). Appendix II includes species that may
not be perceived near extinction, but regulations regarding trade are put in place to control and
regulate it to prevent any endangerment (Wiersema, 2013; Couzens, 2013; CITES). Additionally, any
live animal or plant must be cared for with minimal risk to injury, health and treatment during the
trading process (CITES). Any export, re export and import permit must be needed for trading purposes
(CITES). Lastly, Appendix III according to CITES is controlling trading of species to prevent and/or
diminish any likelihood of exploitation (Couzens, 2013; CITES). Any export, re export and import
permits are needed relating to trading

A thermophilic fungus was isolated from the roots of an extreme hot desert plant delile cullen pilicata,
Aswan governorate, Egypt. The climatic environments in this region ranged between moderately cold
dry winter to very hot dry summer (Abdelrahman et al., 2016). The isolate fungus was identified by

Phenological traits of Cullen pilicata in response to endophytic fungus inoculation:
Comparing the control and treated groups of Cullen pilicata in terms of phonological traits showed
significantly differences could be attributed to the presence of endophytic fungus. The impacts of
endophyte inoculation were seen significantly difference on, soil water content, leaves number, fruits
number, fruits weight, root length, and root fresh and dry weight. The most potential functions of
endophytic fungi are the facilitation of plant nutrient uptake which causes root growth stimulation
(Devendra Ajit 2016). The plants are capable of adapting their roots developmentaly and moleculary
to cope with abiotic stress (Koevoets et al., 2016). In the context Fig.8. showed the effect of the
endophytic fungus on the root length of our studied plant where it is significantly higher (P≤ 0.006) in
E+ group than E group respectively (50 ± 0.8 and 26.6 ± 2.3 cm/plant) (Fig.2.). Fungal Endophytes
may promote plant water use efficiency under low water availability, where the inoculated plants
reduce transpiration rates to ensure conservation of soil moisture (West 1994; Morse et al. 2002).
Fig.3. showed the soil water content (S.W.C) of the E+ group was highly significant (P≤ 0.008), than

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven Essay
Sherman Alexie s book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, focuses on life in Indian
reservations and modern problems that Native Americans still face today. Through the characters that
Alexie creates the reader sees how poorly the Native American communities are facing today and how
Native Americans are trapped no matter where they go. One of the literary theories that allow us, as
readers, to see how these problems arise is Postcolonialism. Postcolonialism is a literary theory that
focuses on the impact that colonization had on native inhabitants and how that still changes their lives
today. Alexie is very critical of how white colonist came and took the land of the Native Americans
and destroyed their way of life forever. The chapter Amusements is where Victor and Sadie happen
upon a drunk and passed out Dirty Joe, a fellow Native American, and decide to play a prank on him.

This Is A Passive Vitalism Because It Accounts For The
This is a passive vitalism because it accounts for the distinct as well as for the continuum but without
imposing any external point of view on the becoming of matter. What is really at issue is the problem
resolved, in the reality of its solution. It is not the ideal, but the reality of this ideal that is in question
(Souriau, 2015, p. 208). Passive vitalism in Souriau terms thus expresses in existence without defining
what is given in potential (virtual materiality) and what can become actual (concrete materiality).
What is defended is an existential pluralism (such as that of William James, A.N. Whitehead and
Gilles Deleuze); existences are intensive, allophonic and polyphonic, where the phenomenal, material,

What is being contested in the new posthuman turns to matter cited earlier is the Kantian idea that
there is a mute, inert and meaningless life upon which a human subject imposes his self originating
thought (systematizing and categorising). For education researchers, such as Snaza and Weaver,
agency is given to matter and a student is no longer a unique entity standing apart, but is now no more
than just one among the many different and mutually entangled unique organisms and things. There
are experiences happening all the time, all over the school, independent of humans. There are always
interactions between humans and nonhuman sentient beings and humans and non sentient objects,
such as computers, doors, playgrounds, hallways, utensils, trays, balls, windows, desks, and so on
(Snaza Weaver, 2014, p. 9).
The mutual co constitution of the organic and inorganic forms takes precedence while maintaining an
active and vital self constituting and self maintaining individual organism.
What such accounts of the mutually constitutive agential relationality between subjects and objects

ought not be ontologically hierarchized. Further and by implication, they pertain to the question of
how to reconfigure (in connection with its vital milieu) that which we assume is the essential nature of

Rhetorical Analysis Of `` The Necessary Art Of Persuasion ``
Today s business environment is fundamentally the same as it s always been. An individual gets into
business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many things
ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of
Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and
become fluid in the art of persuasion in the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of
persuasion is relative now more then ever.
In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive techniques
in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative. However, certain
aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years. Although the
fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the end goal is not.
Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is
communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order for
one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider persuasion
to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates and get them
to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. The old way to manage individuals is
similar to how military organizations do. These types of

Green Light in The Great Gatsby Essay
The Green Light in The Great Gatsby
The image of the green light in the novel Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, is a significant symbol which reflects Gatsby s dream and other
aspects beyond Gatsby s longing. Throughout the novel Fitzgerald uses many
other images or symbols. At first, it may seem very basic, but when the
symbol is closely studied, one may see the deeper meaning found within it.
Fitzgerald uses these symbols to make a point across to the reader. He
then uses this point and converts it into a deeper meaning, into a myth
about America. The green light mentioned in the novel clearly represents
and is a prime example of this.

reader does know that Nick admires Gatsby for his dream which is some way
linked with the green light. The color green represents life, hope, and
youth. Gatsby s fantasy will live as long as long as he remains gazing at
the green light.
In chapter four of the novel, Nick finds out from Jordan that
Gatsby bought the house so that Daisy would be just across the bay. Nick
responds to this fact: Then it had not been merely the stars to which he
had aspired on that June night. He came alive to me, delivered suddenly
from the womb of his purposeless splendor.
Until this point, Gatsby was a puzzle. Nick, at this moment,
solves the puzzle: Gatsby s house and extravagant style of living is a
necessity to reaching and fulfilling his dream rather than a flamboyant
exhibit of wealth. The truth that Gatsby is yearning for Daisy is now
apparent. This is being symbolized by the green light at the end of the
dock.
Gatsby finally meets Daisy in Chapter five of the novel. The
symbol of the green light becomes very evident. It becomes so distinct
that Gatsby even shows Daisy the green light. He says, If it wasn t for

Summary Of The Tone Of Carrt Sandburg Grass
The Sorrowful Tone of Carl Sandburg Grass In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a
personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several wars
and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged
due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the first line,
Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line Pile the
bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during these two wars.
The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention the Battle of Waterloo
which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these wars occurred more than two
hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and at the time when all the tragedies
occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Wars have
always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and emotionally the lives of many people,
including adults and children. Going back to the poem, the grass is the narrator of the poem and by
reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass, tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking
care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because having them spread out across the field would
probably would take up a lot of space that could be needed for other soldiers or medics. Now,

weakness of the study is that the authors failed to report the sex of the subjects making it challenging
to compare these findings with other studies. Furthermore, this study used a PCE supplement, which
contains several other antioxidants in addition to resveratrol. The possibility therefore remains that
these other compounds or an interaction effect could have been responsible for some of changes that
were observed.

The United States And The Holocaust
What exactly was the difference? He wondered to himself. And who decided which people wore the
striped pajamas and which people wore the uniforms a quote from The Boy with the Striped Pajamas.
The Holocaust was a genocide, the intentional killing of certain group or ethnicity, that affected the
Jewish community worldwide through sorrow and sympathy of their people; and kibitzers who chose
to watch until under pressure. A perfect example was the United States who stood on the sidelines,
while the horrific events of the Holocaust were occurring. The United States had played a negative
role in the Holocaust due to a lack of aid, immigration, and publication.
During the Holocaust there was a lack of aid from America to those suffering in Europe. President at
the time of the Holocaust, Franklin D. Roosevelt, had been leading a country of antisemitism, meaning
to be against the Jewish. As mention in The Us and the Holocaust Project Group: Antisemitism page
by Lauren Freeman, Antisemitism was habited with in Congress, and the general public of the United
States; which will be further elaborated later in the paper.
By the time the Holocaust had come into play America was already filled with people who had a
prejudice against the Jewish, believing that all Jews were greedy and dishonest, found in the article
The Us and the Holocaust Project Group: Antisemitism. Although full of antisemitism, the U.S. also
had a Jewish supportive community. Those who supported the Jewish believed

Bratz Doll s Negative Effects On Young Girls
The Bratz doll was created to be a good alternative to the Barbie; instead, she teaches sexuality
through inappropriate attire and excessive makeup. The Bratz doll needs a make over if she is going to
teach girls to grow up confident. Young girls playing with Bratz dolls is not an ideal situation because
the doll teaches them how to make themselves look more sexualized. This plastic doll is only six
inches in length, much shorter then it s competitor Barbie, but it still holds much more impact on a
child. With very voluminous hair and outrageous makeup such as eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara,
little girls are being exposed to something that they should not have to experience until they are in
their teens. The dolls lead young girls to think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This becomes a big issue when you take into consideration the dolls attire. Many of them come
featured in expensive fur coats and crop tops which is extremely inappropriate for a child s toy. The
young girls could be led to think that it is ok to dress in the sexually inappropriate ways that Bratz
dress. This is why The American Psychological Association believes that Bratz dolls are far worse
than Barbie dolls considering the way they re dressed in fishnet stockings and very short skirts
(gigkk). Young girls don t usually realize what they are playing with, but in these cases they will
definitely notice how they look drastically different from their supposedly look alike dolls. Their adult
like bodies are too sexualized for young girls because they have not yet built their self esteem . This
can cause havoc on a young girl s brains according to the research of the American Psychological
Association, We have ample evidence to conclude that sexualization has negative effects in a variety
of domains, including cognitive functioning, physical and mental health, and healthy sexual
development (Eileen L. Zurbriggen, PhD, chair of the APA Task Force). These little girls should be

Does Morley Promote Laziness
Being lazy tends to have a negative connotation, but Morley takes a different stance and challenges his
readers to uphold laziness as one of the true means to become happy. Morley is similar to a salesman,
as he promotes his product, laziness, in hopes of gaining the attention and support of others. Like
many salesmen, Morley has a catch. By concealing his satirical viewpoint, he is able to distract his
audience and continue to promote laziness undetected. Masking this satire, Morley diverts the
attention of his audience by incorporating model figures and reinterpreting conventional knowledge to
promote laziness. Morley supports his claims under a foundation of satire and exaggeration. At first
glance, Morley s whole essay may seem conceivable. Strange, but conceivable. His opening paragraph
describes how he himself is a lazy individual and using this observation, presents the rest of his essay
in the same sluggish manner. He insists that, he intended to write an essay on laziness, but was too
indolent to do so. The sort of thing we had in mind to write would have been exceedingly persuasive.
We intended to discourse a little in favour of a greater appreciation of Indolence as a benign factor in
human affairs. Morley can be seen as a victim of the very thing he is presenting to his audience. He

My First Day At School Essay
On the morning of September 1st, 2016, I woke up to my alarm excited and ready for my first day of
school. I quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs to get some breakfast. I ate my breakfasts meal,
and since there was time to kill before we were allowed to enter school, I pet my dogs and just layed
down in my warm, soft blankets. I wish I could bring my dogs and my blankets to school with me, I
thought to myself, but I know school is a time for learning, not for sleeping and relaxing. Once it was
around 7:25 AM, my dad drove me to school. I met my friends in front of the school by the big tree in
the front of the campus, and we talked about how weird it was going to be going to a whole new
school with people we knew and people we didn t know. We also were talking about which teachers
we thought we were going to get. We had many other discussions for the rest of the time we had to
hang out together. but I can t remember what they were about.
Quite a few minutes later, the bell that signaled that we could enter school rang, and we all scrambled
inside to get in line to get our schedules. I got in line, and waited until I got to the front. Once I did, I
said my first and last name to the person and they gave me my schedule. I looked it over, and ran to
find my friends so I could see if I had any classes with them. I had some of my them in my classes, but
not many. For the remainder of the morning we had to hang out, I wandered around the school,

Survival Cannibalism In Anthropology
The anthropologist is the act or practice of humans or other species eating organs or the flesh of their
own kind. Cannibalism has been a part of the human culture for so long and resurfacing in the recent
decades. Cannibalism has been reportedly practiced by many different cultures in all continents on
earth. Each of them has separate reasons to why they practiced it. It could be from psychosexual
impulses, relief from stress or they just want to eat humans as food no more no less.
There are many variations on human cannibalism, but the main three are survival cannibalism,
endocannibalism and exocannibalism. Survival cannibalism is the practice of human beings eating
other human beings as a necessity in order to survive. This type of practice

Essay on Using Semiotics for Branding
In today s world an individual is bombarded with brands from companies all around the world. These
companies start with an idea and most of those ideas develop into a brand. Brands rely on the use of
semiotics, the science of signs (Ryan and Conover 25), to relate to consumers or interpreters. They
also relay on the connotation and denotation of the signs as well as the colors being used. When it
comes to the entire package of a marketing plan and branding a company or product, graphic
designers need to look at how to create the brand from a visually and culturally pleasing aspect. A
brand is mostly based on a semiotic design that uses a trademark image and colors that relate to a
group in a cultural setting.
When it comes to branding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many strategies that graphic designers and marketing directors use to create a logo for a
company in order to form a brand. One logo strategy is to create an image that is familiar to
individuals even if it s an image that has never been seen before. Subjective familiarity is the
perception or feeling of familiarity, whether or not it is based on previous exposure (Henderson and
Cote 17). A critical finding in logo strategy is that cultures are homogenous in their response to design.
Gestalt psychology suggests that good design is determined by culturally held beliefs (Henderson and
Cote 18). It may be difficult for an individual from an outside culture to understand a specific design.
In one culture, the meaning of a sign can be completely opposite of the culture in which it is used, i.e.
the use of the thumbs up signal.
In graphic design, semantics and pragmatics play an integral role in the development of a logo.
According to Steven Skaggs, semantics investigates meaning, or more properly, the relationship
between the sign and its referents as interpreted.... Pragmatics studies the relationship between
semiosis and the interpreter, or interpreting group (37). This means that an image may be interpreted
differently by one individual. This is usually based upon the person s background and/or culture as
well as their physiological demographic. Skaggs believes that a design can have a denotation when it
is interpreted narrowly in a

Examples Of Duty Based Ethics
Duty Based Ethics
Duty based ethics can be defined as actions that (independent of consequences) are right or wrong.
Duty based ethics states that we are morally obligated to act in accordance with a certain set of
principles and rules regardless of outcome. We are all obliged to fulfill our duties and to act to fulfill
these duties (Shakil, 2014)
Nurse
In the film Nurse Evers played a major role in her involvement with the Tuskegee study. Ms. Evers
was assigned to monitor the experiment and to ensure the cooperation of the patients throughout the
time of the experiment. Although she had some apprehensions about the aims and necessities for the
study such as the lack of enlightening the patients of their conditions and the treatment for syphilis,
she thought that her job as a professional nurse was to follow the orders of the doctors. According to
the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics (2001), states that a nurse is required to protect the
public from misinformation and misrepresentation and to maintain the integrity of nursing. Nurse
Evers violated this principle of code of ethics when misinformed the patients about their actual
medical status and hiding information that there was no treatment for syphilis even when the penicillin
became available. Miss Evers found herself in an unfavorable predicament. She didn t want ... Show

Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Emily Dickinson is perhaps one of the most intriguing American poets studied. The remote look in her
eyes mirror her life, which she mostly spent secluded in her home in Amherst, Massachusetts. While
leading an outwardly reclusive life, she unleashes the faculties of her mind in her powerful poetry. She
addresses compelling themes such as death, depression, human despair, individual capability, and the
art of poetry. Her feelings on these subjects emerge in her poems, but her exact thoughts are difficult
to uncover since her poetry is so highly enigmatic. Likewise, the subject matter of Christianity in her
poetry remains one of the most inconsistent of Dickinson s recurring themes. Emily Dickinson posses
an uncanny ability to wrestle down the perfect diction, thus creating worlds of hope, despair, faith, and
endless questioning.Through her use of imagery, Dickinson displays her linguistic prowess and the
intricacies of language.
I m Nobody! Who are you?, this poem opens with the declaration that the speaker is Nobody. this
nobody ness, however, quickly comes to mean that she is outside of the public sphere; perhaps, here
Dickinson is touching on her own failure to become a published poet, and the fact that to most of
society, she is Nobody. The speaker does not seem bitter about this instead she asks the reader,
playfully almost, Who are you? (1), and offers us a chance to be in a sort of cahoots with her Are you
Nobody Too? (2). In the next line, she assumes

Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that without
adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve adversity people
damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who faced racial discrimination
for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet Horace elucidates that Adversity
has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant . This is
often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn
t for the hardships that adversity exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and
in some cases, end up putting and end to it. For instance, the story of Cristian Mariano Deppeler, a
social communicator that is known today for his video on YouTube in which he shocked the world and
affirmed that he is not disabled . Even though the doctors said that Deppeler was going to be a

The Consequences Of Human Rights In The Holocaust
Renowned Zimbabwean revolutionary Robert Mugabe states, Cooperation and respect for each other
will advance the course of human rights worldwide. Confrontation, vilification, and double standards
will not. This quote vocalizes what human rights are and the steps necessary for liberty. However, this
set of rights are constantly in violation of mankind itself in innumerable instances. The most evident
event that violated these rights is the Holocaust in World War II. This Holocaust was the persecution
of Jews and people deemed unfit by Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi Party during the nineteen thirties
and forties. Though this catastrophic event caught the attention of the world, this is not the only time
in history human rights being in violation. The Japanese effort in World War II to create biological
weapons for the war is another example of human rights being taken away by mankind. After this war,
the United Nations created a Universal Declaration of Human Rights , Article Five stating, No one
shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Elie Wiesel, wrote the memoir, Night, that captured the hearts of
millions of people in his survival of the Holocaust as a Jew. One event Elie recalled is his first time in
the concentration camp, Auschwitz. Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes... children thrown into the

There has been much discussion surrounding the name change from Saul to Paul beginning in Acts
chapter 13. It is shown throughout the New Testament after Saul s conversion that he called himself
Paul and only used the name Saul when he referred to incidents that occurred prior to his conversion.
Other commentaries attribute the name change to Saul s desire to not share the same name with
wicked King Saul from the Old Testament who persecuted David, Jesus ancestor. Many significant
people in the Bible were referred to by different names such as Jesus disciples Matthew (Levi), Simon
(Peter), Abraham (Abram), Sarah (Sarai), Jacob (Israel). The Bible does not offer a reason why Saul
changed his name to Paul or indicate whether it was inspired by God or not. The timing of the change
of name leads us to believe it was because of his conversion and desire to abandon his old nature and
walk in the calling God placed on his life.
The Damascus Experience The account of Saul s conversion is such an important theme that it is
reported in three different areas of the book (Acts 9:1 19, Acts 22:4 16 and Acts 26:9 19). Even though
these 3 verses differ in the amount of detail they contain, they all focus on different aspects of the
miraculous encounter. Charles

I collected the news articles for this assignment through various means. For instance, I used Google
search, and typed in keywords such as economy, scarce resources, economic analysis, economic data,
consumer demand, consumer spending and consumer prices. I would then click the news tab and
looked through the list of recent news articles, and I would pick the ones that caught my attention the

Characteristics Of The Roman Emperor Propaganda
Roman Emperor Propaganda:
The Portrait of Augustus is a very good example of propaganda from a ruling emperor. It is from
Primaporta, Italy, the year 20 BCE. The original was made from bronze but copied in marble because
bronze statues were melted down for weapons. The statue stands at 6 foot 8 inches. The figure is
interpreted as Augustus by the two curls in his bangs that make up the S and C of the Augustinian
household. He is wearing a bronze chest plate with stories of him interacting with gods. Augustus has
the gods on his side, he is an international military victor, and he is the bringer of the Pax Romana, a
peace that encompasses all the lands of the Roman Empire. In the central zone of the armor are two
figures, a Roman and a Parthian. On the left, the enemy Parthian returns military standards. This is a
direct reference to an international diplomatic victory of Augustus in 20 BCE when these standards
were finally returned to Rome. The plate would have been made of bronze which is heavier so it
would have been just for decorative uses. Augustus is said to have been a deity, being related to a god
or goddess. Down by his proper right foot is a cupid riding a dolphin. Venus, who is represented by a
dolphin, is the mother of both Cupids. The purpose of depicting both Cupid and Venus is to highlight
Augustus godly lineage. He is outreached in the typical speech pose that many Romans used in their
sculptures to show that they are in a position of power and authority.

many functions such as one s behavior and mood. If one has poor mental health, then he is at risk to

Ginsberg’s Affinities with Whitman
Century apart, Allen Ginsberg and Walt Whitman share similar cultural, political and moral values,
which they express in their literary work. Whitman s writing is considered controversial for the
eighteen hundreds. He sets the stage for generations to come breaking way from the strict Victorian
poetic tradition by writing in free verse. Ginsberg follows his footsteps when composing his poem
Howl by writing in long lines almost resembling prose and subdividing the poem into several parts.
Likewise, he uses numerous repetitions to achieve rhythmicity of his verse. Ginsberg s poem is
heavily influenced by Whitman s philosophy. The works Song of myself and Howl are similar in
ideas, structure and underling themes. The two authors protest against old traditions imposed on the
individual by corrupt society, stand against conformity and put emphasis on the need for change. They
identify with their generation and dwell on themes such as sexuality, religion and the state of
American society. Whitman has a philosophical approach about religion, religion practices and the
journey of the soul. He uses the imagery of nature and other every day attributes to question life
beyond death, rebirth and the unison of individual and nature. He is not afraid to die and admits ....
there is really no death, /and if ever there was it led toward life (Whitman line.... )He finds the Devine
power in nature and everything around him rather that in the altar of a church, which

Hamlet Tragedy Analysis
Hamlet, despite being an introspective look at grief as well as a cautionary tale of the human
condition, is first and foremost a tragedy. The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William
Shakespeare, is a play written in the early 17th century that follows the Senecan formula: a
playwriting method originating in Rome which accentuates points of revenge, honor, the supernatural,
suicide, and blood. This formula is evident throughout the play but is fully realized in the character of
Hamlet. He is a tragic hero, bound to revenge, goaded by the ghost of his father, who with each
decision moves closer to his inevitable death. Hamlet has many observable traits. He is intelligent,
emotional, temperamental, and bold but his tragic flaw is that of overthinking. Though Hamlet is
driven by instinct to right the wrong done to his father, he does not act as such. He carefully calculates
all of his advances against his antagonists and spends a considerable amount of time explaining to the
audience what complications certain issues present. O all you host of heaven! O earth! What else? And
shall I couple hell? Oh, fie! Hold, hold, my heart, And you, my sinews, grow not instant old, But bear
me stiffly up. Remember thee! Ay, thou poor ghost, whiles memory holds a seat In this distracted
globe. Remember thee! Yea, from the table of my memory I ll wipe away all trivial fond records, All
saws of books, all forms, all pressures past That youth and observation copied there, And thy
commandment all alone shall live Within the book and volume of my brain, Unmixed with baser
matter. Yes, by heaven! O most pernicious woman! O villain, villain, smiling, damnèd villain! My
tables! Meet it is I set it down That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. At least I m sure it may
be so in Denmark. (writes) So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word. It is Adieu, adieu. Remember
me. I have sworn t. (I.v.94 1130) In Hamlet s long soliloquy he belabors the idea of fate and its
unfairness. After stewing over his villainous uncle and mother, he finally commits himself to
vengeance by the ghost s suggestion. This action in particular is the one that sets him on the path to his
death. Hamlet s tendency to overthink can most notably be

St Augustine s Claim To The Spanish American Empires
The Spanish empire had a major foothold in present day Florida from 1513 threw 1586 and viewed the

danger from French privateers and eradicated the French threat to Spain s claim to the area. Juan

Argumentative Essay About Climate Change
Climate change limits the opportunities that future generations have, especially the most poorest and
most vulnerable. It is our duty to change how people treat/use the earth, educate, and get involved in
our communities that can have a huge impact on improving the lives of the vulnerable populations
affected by climate change.
When people know how to treat and use the earth, it can be a useful solution. Many of us don t
understand that the way we treat the earth now will affect us in the future or other generations. Some
of the things people can do is just the basic needs. Places in the United States people are blessed with
freshwater out of their kitchen sink, but others are suffering daily to even get a sip of water. It can be
easy to just buy a bottle of water at the grocery store, but what do we do when we are done with it?
Just toss it in the trash can? Why not reuse it? There is research done by researchers that bottled water
is not as safe as tap water in many places. When plastic is left in the sun it can be a dangerous to drink
right after it. As much as we try to dispose of plastic it never goes away. The slightest bit of plastic
ends up in the ocean. A solution to not waste water, and not having to buy bottled water is easier than
we think.
The changes start from the smallest gesture of care to the environment. In the article about water: A
conversation with Maude Barlow by Helen Caldicott In Canada we ve now had twenty seven
municipalities, most of them are cities, ban commercial sales of bottled water. This has been a real
campaign. We ve had dozens of school boards across the country ban bottled water, and the Federation
of Canadian Municipalities at their annual meeting passed a motion for a full ban across the country.
They will not buy or sell a single plastic bottle or container on their premises. And it makes sense. If
you are putting all this money into cleaning water and testing it, regulating it and protecting the
source, why would you then compete with that by providing bottled water sales? pg By just going to
the grocery store and buying a reusable water, can be a solution that can help everyone. As a whole,
we need to educate ourselves and understand what is happening to the

Conventional distribution channel v/s vertical and horizontal distribution channel
A conventional distribution channel is a channel which consists of one or more independent producers,
wholesalers and retailers, each a separate business seeking to maximize its own profits. It is the most
common type of distribution channel. All producers, wholesalers and retailers must have a good
coordination in order to have an effective distribution channel. Channel conflicts are very common
leading to disruptions in distribution. Therefore, today we are moving towards developing integrated
marketing systems which are the vertical or horizontal distribution channels.
A vertical distribution channel is one in which producers, wholesalers and retailers act as a unified
system. One channel member owns the other, has contract with them or has so much power that they
cooperate. The aim here is to achieve greater efficiency and economies of scale. Another aim is to
eliminate channel conflict arising out of disparate individual objectives.
The three types of VMS are * Corporate VMS It is the combination of successive stages of production
and distribution under a single ownership channel leadership is established through common
ownership. * Contractual VMS A vertical marketing system in which independent firms of different
level of production and distribution joint together through contracts

  • 2. The Lion King ( Film ) The Lion King (FILM) This Disney animated film follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father, Mufasa. Simba s wicked uncle, Scar plots to usurp Mufasa s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa. The first theme in the film the The Lion King would have to be manipulation. Although this theme may just be linked to Scar, I will mention it because he is a main character. A second example of manipulation would have to be when Scar says I will be king. Stick with me, and you ll never go hungry again! This quote is clear evidence that manipulation is a key theme because Scar constantly manipulates a lot of people. This quote also shows us that Scar manipulates the hyenas because he says you ll never go hungry , when in actual fact they do. Scar just manipulates the hyenas because he wants them to become his soldiers for him. Another example of manipulation would have to be when Scar says Now, you wait here. Your father has a marvelous surprise for you. This quote shows that Scar manipulates Simba because he wants to become king of Pride rock. These quotes also show that the purpose of Scar s manipulation is due to greed. An example of manipulation is when Scar says But the king is dead. And if it weren t for you, he d still be alive . Evil is everywhere, at all the times and all around us. Is it a real thing with a sizeable influence or is an absolute truth, or nonexistence? The mystery of evil has been appearing for centuries within all religions, where the meaning and magnitude of it has been questioned and re exanimated through different considerations. A comprehensive collection of visions has been taken on evil in scientific descriptions and written works. Should we consider the better answer of evil that is provided by religion, such as Christianity, Islam, or that of science? If not, than a real life may bring the recognition of evil. Once, John Paul II said, Science can purify religion from error and superstition. Religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was put in place on July 1, 1975 to address the need to protect species on a global level by controlling international trade. The aim of CITES is to protect species that are considered endangered (Couzens, 2013). CITES uses three Appendices to evaluate which level the endangered species should be put in. Appendix I includes species that are threatened by extinction due to trading (Couzens, 2013). It bans any trading of these species related to commercial purposes and any trading that could be harmful to their survival (Wiersema, 2013; CITES). Furthermore, any export, re export and import permit must be needed for any accepted import, export or re exported purposes (CITES). Appendix II includes species that may not be perceived near extinction, but regulations regarding trade are put in place to control and regulate it to prevent any endangerment (Wiersema, 2013; Couzens, 2013; CITES). Additionally, any live animal or plant must be cared for with minimal risk to injury, health and treatment during the trading process (CITES). Sandburg mentions several wars and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the first line, Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during these two wars. The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention the Battle of Waterloo which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these wars occurred more than two hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and at the time when all the tragedies occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Wars have always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and emotionally the lives of many people, including adults and children. Going back to the poem, the grass is the narrator of the poem and by reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass, tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because having them spread out across the field would probably would take up a lot of space that could be needed for other soldiers or medics. Masking this satire, Morley diverts the attention of his audience by incorporating model figures and reinterpreting conventional knowledge to promote laziness. Morley supports his claims under a foundation of satire and exaggeration. At first glance, Morley s whole essay may seem conceivable. Strange, but conceivable. His opening paragraph describes how he himself is a lazy individual and using this observation, presents the rest of his essay in the same sluggish manner. He insists that, he intended to write an essay on laziness, but was too indolent to do so. The sort of thing we had in mind to write would have been exceedingly persuasive. We intended to discourse a little in favour of a greater appreciation of Indolence as a benign factor in human affairs. • 24. My First Day At School Essay On the morning of September 1st, 2016, I woke up to my alarm excited and ready for my first day of school. I quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs to get some breakfast. I ate my breakfasts meal, and since there was time to kill before we were allowed to enter school, I pet my dogs and just layed down in my warm, soft blankets. I wish I could bring my dogs and my blankets to school with me, I thought to myself, but I know school is a time for learning, not for sleeping and relaxing. Once it was around 7:25 AM, my dad drove me to school. I met my friends in front of the school by the big tree in the front of the campus, and we talked about how weird it was going to be going to a whole new school with people we knew and people we didn t know. We also were talking about which teachers we thought we were going to get. We had many other discussions for the rest of the time we had to hang out together. but I can t remember what they were about. Quite a few minutes later, the bell that signaled that we could enter school rang, and we all scrambled inside to get in line to get our schedules. I got in line, and waited until I got to the front. Once I did, I said my first and last name to the person and they gave me my schedule. I looked it over, and ran to find my friends so I could see if I had any classes with them. • 26. Essay on Using Semiotics for Branding In today s world an individual is bombarded with brands from companies all around the world. These companies start with an idea and most of those ideas develop into a brand. Brands rely on the use of semiotics, the science of signs (Ryan and Conover 25), to relate to consumers or interpreters. They also relay on the connotation and denotation of the signs as well as the colors being used. When it comes to the entire package of a marketing plan and branding a company or product, graphic designers need to look at how to create the brand from a visually and culturally pleasing aspect. A brand is mostly based on a semiotic design that uses a trademark image and colors that relate to a group in a cultural setting. When it comes to branding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many strategies that graphic designers and marketing directors use to create a logo for a company in order to form a brand. One logo strategy is to create an image that is familiar to individuals even if it s an image that has never been seen before. Subjective familiarity is the perception or feeling of familiarity, whether or not it is based on previous exposure (Henderson and Cote 17). A critical finding in logo strategy is that cultures are homogenous in their response to design. Gestalt psychology suggests that good design is determined by culturally held beliefs (Henderson and Cote 18). It may be difficult for an individual from an outside culture to understand a specific design. In one culture, the meaning of a sign can be completely opposite of the culture in which it is used, i.e. the use of the thumbs up signal. In graphic design, semantics and pragmatics play an integral role in the development of a logo. According to Steven Skaggs, semantics investigates meaning, or more properly, the relationship between the sign and its referents as interpreted.... Pragmatics studies the relationship between semiosis and the interpreter, or interpreting group (37). This means that an image may be interpreted differently by one individual. This is usually based upon the person s background and/or culture as well as their physiological demographic. Duty based ethics states that we are morally obligated to act in accordance with a certain set of principles and rules regardless of outcome. Ms. Evers was assigned to monitor the experiment and to ensure the cooperation of the patients throughout the time of the experiment. Although she had some apprehensions about the aims and necessities for the study such as the lack of enlightening the patients of their conditions and the treatment for syphilis, she thought that her job as a professional nurse was to follow the orders of the doctors. According to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics (2001), states that a nurse is required to protect the public from misinformation and misrepresentation and to maintain the integrity of nursing. • 28. Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Poetry Emily Dickinson is perhaps one of the most intriguing American poets studied. The remote look in her eyes mirror her life, which she mostly spent secluded in her home in Amherst, Massachusetts. While leading an outwardly reclusive life, she unleashes the faculties of her mind in her powerful poetry. She addresses compelling themes such as death, depression, human despair, individual capability, and the art of poetry. Her feelings on these subjects emerge in her poems, but her exact thoughts are difficult to uncover since her poetry is so highly enigmatic. Likewise, the subject matter of Christianity in her poetry remains one of the most inconsistent of Dickinson s recurring themes. Emily Dickinson posses an uncanny ability to wrestle down the perfect diction, thus creating worlds of hope, despair, faith, and endless questioning.Through her use of imagery, Dickinson displays her linguistic prowess and the intricacies of language. I m Nobody! Who are you?, this poem opens with the declaration that the speaker is Nobody. this nobody ness, however, quickly comes to mean that she is outside of the public sphere; perhaps, here Dickinson is touching on her own failure to become a published poet, and the fact that to most of society, she is Nobody. However, this set of rights are constantly in violation of mankind itself in innumerable instances. The most evident event that violated these rights is the Holocaust in World War II. This Holocaust was the persecution of Jews and people deemed unfit by Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi Party during the nineteen thirties and forties. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been much discussion surrounding the name change from Saul to Paul beginning in Acts chapter 13. It is shown throughout the New Testament after Saul s conversion that he called himself Paul and only used the name Saul when he referred to incidents that occurred prior to his conversion. Other commentaries attribute the name change to Saul s desire to not share the same name with wicked King Saul from the Old Testament who persecuted David, Jesus ancestor. Many significant people in the Bible were referred to by different names such as Jesus disciples Matthew (Levi), Simon (Peter), Abraham (Abram), Sarah (Sarai), Jacob (Israel). The Bible does not offer a reason why Saul changed his name to Paul or indicate whether it was inspired by God or not. The timing of the change of name leads us to believe it was because of his conversion and desire to abandon his old nature and walk in the calling God placed on his life. The Damascus Experience The account of Saul s conversion is such an important theme that it is reported in three different areas of the book (Acts 9:1 19, Acts 22:4 16 and Acts 26:9 19). Even though these 3 verses differ in the amount of detail they contain, they all focus on different aspects of the miraculous encounter. Charles

It is from Primaporta, Italy, the year 20 BCE. The original was made from bronze but copied in marble because bronze statues were melted down for weapons. The statue stands at 6 foot 8 inches. The figure is interpreted as Augustus by the two curls in his bangs that make up the S and C of the Augustinian household. He is wearing a bronze chest plate with stories of him interacting with gods. Augustus has the gods on his side, he is an international military victor, and he is the bringer of the Pax Romana, a peace that encompasses all the lands of the Roman Empire. In the central zone of the armor are two figures, a Roman and a Parthian. On the left, the enemy Parthian returns military standards. This is a direct reference to an international diplomatic victory of Augustus in 20 BCE when these standards were finally returned to Rome. The plate would have been made of bronze which is heavier so it would have been just for decorative uses. Augustus is said to have been a deity, being related to a god or goddess. Down by his proper right foot is a cupid riding a dolphin. Venus, who is represented by a dolphin, is the mother of both Cupids. • 43. Ginsberg’s Affinities with Whitman Century apart, Allen Ginsberg and Walt Whitman share similar cultural, political and moral values, which they express in their literary work. Whitman s writing is considered controversial for the eighteen hundreds. He sets the stage for generations to come breaking way from the strict Victorian poetic tradition by writing in free verse. Ginsberg follows his footsteps when composing his poem Howl by writing in long lines almost resembling prose and subdividing the poem into several parts. Likewise, he uses numerous repetitions to achieve rhythmicity of his verse. Ginsberg s poem is heavily influenced by Whitman s philosophy. The works Song of myself and Howl are similar in ideas, structure and underling themes. The two authors protest against old traditions imposed on the individual by corrupt society, stand against conformity and put emphasis on the need for change. They identify with their generation and dwell on themes such as sexuality, religion and the state of American society. The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, by William Shakespeare, is a play written in the early 17th century that follows the Senecan formula: a playwriting method originating in Rome which accentuates points of revenge, honor, the supernatural, suicide, and blood. This formula is evident throughout the play but is fully realized in the character of Hamlet. He is a tragic hero, bound to revenge, goaded by the ghost of his father, who with each decision moves closer to his inevitable death. Hamlet has many observable traits. He is intelligent, emotional, temperamental, and bold but his tragic flaw is that of overthinking. Though Hamlet is driven by instinct to right the wrong done to his father, he does not act as such. He carefully calculates all of his advances against his antagonists and spends a considerable amount of time explaining to the audience what complications certain issues present. O all you host of heaven! O earth! What else? And shall I couple hell? Oh, fie! Hold, hold, my heart, And you, my sinews, grow not instant old, But bear me stiffly up. Remember thee! Ay, thou poor ghost, whiles memory holds a seat In this distracted globe. Remember thee! • 47. Argumentative Essay About Climate Change Climate change limits the opportunities that future generations have, especially the most poorest and most vulnerable. It is our duty to change how people treat/use the earth, educate, and get involved in our communities that can have a huge impact on improving the lives of the vulnerable populations affected by climate change. When people know how to treat and use the earth, it can be a useful solution. Many of us don t understand that the way we treat the earth now will affect us in the future or other generations. Some of the things people can do is just the basic needs. Places in the United States people are blessed with freshwater out of their kitchen sink, but others are suffering daily to even get a sip of water. It can be easy to just buy a bottle of water at the grocery store, but what do we do when we are done with it? Just toss it in the trash can? Why not reuse it? There is research done by researchers that bottled water is not as safe as tap water in many places. When plastic is left in the sun it can be a dangerous to drink right after it. As much as we try to dispose of plastic it never goes away. The slightest bit of plastic ends up in the ocean. A solution to not waste water, and not having to buy bottled water is easier than we think. The changes start from the smallest gesture of care to the environment. In the article about water: A conversation with Maude Barlow by Helen Caldicott In Canada we ve now had twenty seven municipalities, most of them are cities, ban commercial sales of bottled water. This has been a real campaign. We ve had dozens of school boards across the country ban bottled water, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities at their annual meeting passed a motion for a full ban across the country. They will not buy or sell a single plastic bottle or container on their premises. And it makes sense. If you are putting all this money into cleaning water and testing it, regulating it and protecting the source, why would you then compete with that by providing bottled water sales? pg By just going to the grocery store and buying a reusable water, can be a solution that can help everyone. As a whole, we need to educate ourselves and understand what is happening to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
