Why Is Artemidorus The Most Honorable Man In Julius Caesar
Artemidorus or Pindarus? Some of the most honorable people are some of the most forgotten or
irrelevant whereas some of the most corrupt are the most known. There are more corrupt men than
honorable men in the world. Without honorable men, the world would overflow with corrupt people.
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has both honorable and corrupt men within the play. In my opinion,
Artemidorus is the most honorable man is the play, whereas Pindarus is the most corrupt man in the
play. To begin with, an honorable person is someone who can be trusted and are highly respected by
everyone. Honorable do the right thing even if it s the hardest thing to do. Artemidorus is one of the
most forgotten characters in the play, but plays a significant role. Artemidorus is the most honorable
man in the play. Artemidorus writes a letter to Julius Caesar telling him about the conspiracy and
names all the conspirators. By doing this he is risking his life to protect the life of Julius Caesar,
because he is a devoted friend. Artemidorus then proceeds to go out and wait for Caesar to pass by to
give him the letter on his way to the Senate to be pronounced King. This shows that no matter what
the cost is, Artemidorus stands up for what he believes in and has the best intentions in mind.
Artemidorus writes in this letter that despite the whole conspiracy going on, the gods are on Caesar s
side. By telling him this in the letter it shows that even when times are bad, he always has something

Passing On The Gift Dan West Character Analysis
Dan West was an exceptional man and a great leader. He graduated from Manchester College in 1917.
He knew most of the students, and his classmates remember him as a friendly and social person
(Yoder 22). He enjoyed thinking deeply about topics which greatly impacted his leadership skills and
qualities. In Passing on the Gift: The Story of Dan West by Glee Yoder, a quotation from The Goshen
News after Dan West died stated, The Church lost a plain and simple man, who saw in every person a
divine image; his goal in leadership was to enable others to let this image come alive (165). Dan West
loved the Church of the Brethren. Dedicated to spreading peace and ending hunger, he created the

He encouraged others to talk, and he listened to their opinions. In Passing on the Gift: The Story of
Dan West, Glee Yoder states, He had a knack, a way of conveying a certain amount of support and at
the same time challenging each person to pursue his or her own thoughts (133). Dan West
demonstrated this quotation on summer with a group of campers. At a camp, Dan decided to challenge
the campers by starting a talk session called open forum where he took a group of campers, and by the
end of the discussion, every single camper wanted to join in on the discussion. He wanted everyone to
feel as though they had something special and unique to contribute to the group. Willing to listen, Dan
allowed and encouraged each person to speak (Yoder 36, 37). He enabled others to act, according to
Kouzes and Posner s principles of leadership. Enabling others to act requires a leader to incorporate
others in a conversation and actively listen to them. Dan West demonstrated this when he allowed
every camper who wanted to speak, speak. He wanted each camper to feel special; therefore, he
involved each one. He helped many to believe in their own worth, including the slow ones as well as
the brilliant. He encourages persons to develop their own potential in their own way (Yoder 37).
Through this, Dan West enabled the campers to act by using their voices

Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers
Triangular Numbers
Eli Nazarian

H Algebra 2A
October 21, 2014
A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put
together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides). The most common object used
to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the
triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots
which form a triangle.
The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous one.
The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so on.
When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example,
triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The
letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle.
The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is:
Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2
T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If a
number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N. The final answer of the problem would
equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle.
Example: n= length of 6 Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2
Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2
Solve. T6th= 6(7) T6th=42 T6th=21. 2 2

Dziga Vertov
Dziga Vertov s Man with a Movie Camera presents the everyday urban activities of people from the
Soviet Union. Since the documentary film has no story at all, it also does not have continuity of
action. This 1929 documentary made use of montage where images were edited together without
visible or apparent connection between shots.
This documentary film is considered as one of the greatest films of all time. It has neither actors nor
story. It basically follows a camera man and his views of the Russian city. It is about film techniques
and the process required in making one.
Vertov believed that a camera has the power to unveil those aspects of the filmed events which
otherwise cannot be perceived. During that time, there are variety of camera angles and editing styles
and techniques that are being demonstrated in films. And one important aspects of this particular
documentary film that is visible as the scene progresses is the type of montage used. Man with a
Movie Camera consists of a series editing and collision editing which have their own purpose; there
are scenes that show the man carrying his camera then quickly ... Show more content on

For him, montage is a collision wherein the collision of two factors gives rise to an idea. An example
of this in the documentary film is when a woman wakes up and starts to wash her face, then the film
cuts to water cleaning off a pole. As the scene progresses, it shows a woman wiping herself using a
cloth, then cuts to a woman wiping off a window (probably using a similar cloth). Lastly, the film cuts
back to the woman cleaning her face and starting blinking as the windows starts to open and close at
the same time (simultaneously with her blinking). This particular scene produces different
interpretations but it may also imply (since collision editing was used) that the woman s life is similar
to the life of the Russian city; they both go through

Modernism And Postmodernism In The Twentieth Century
Twentieth century is marked with two epochs, first half is known as modernism and second half is
named as postmodernism. In the latter half of twentieth century there was an overall transferal in
terms of culture, economics, religion, history, linguistics, social behavior, philosophy, arts,
architecture, and literature. The world has entered into a new phenomenon that is being defined with
the prefix of post . For istance from structuralism to poststructuralism, colonialism to postcolonialism,
positivism to postpositivism and modernism to postmodernism. In Location of Culture Homi K
Bhabha has defined the prefix of post under the context of post colonialism. He is of the view that post
is such a prefix that does not give any direction rather it is directionless. The word which he has used
to define this prefix is beyond (Bhabha, 1994) and defined that in this world beyond, there is no
direction.
Postmodernism is an approach that carries with it a wide variety of meanings, interpretations and
phenomenons. It may refer to a concept, a practice, a life style, a new period etc. It is all permeating
concept and has stretched in all directions across different borders, different debates, different
disciplines and different discursive boundaries. Dick Hebdige gives a periodic list of the definitions of
postmodernism in Hiding in the Light: On Images and Things.
Postmodernism is anti teleogical possessing no overall design or universal plan, the attack on

Rap Music And Its Effects On Modern Music Industry
SOUTHERN RAP
Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans,
Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, and Virginia Beach, just like the names implies. Rap music has
transformed modern music greatly during the decade of 1997 and 2007 (Dyson 61). The decade has
seen the southern artists rise to both national and international prominence. The southern cities have
churned up modern rap artists like Dwayne Michael (Lil Wayne), Clifford Joseph (T.I) and many
others .This papers aims to examine various artists, music and scholarly articles in analyzing rap
music in southern cities and its effects on modern music industry.

The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation
in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established
geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability
claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were
obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for
their own economic prosperity (63).
The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the
southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as
contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic
distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts
in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its
origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin
makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66).
Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries.
Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap

Playing against a Computer or a Human Research
Background and significance Individuals participating in an interaction perceive one another as
rational agents who possess beliefs, desires and intentions that might be different than their own.
Assumptions made about these mental states are used to interpret and predict behavior. Conferring
such attributes to an agent (human, computer, whatever) has been described as adopting an intentional
stance (Dennet, 1996). Adopting an intentional stance is part of our broader ability to mentalize which
involves representing and attributing mental states to oneself and others. Research concerned with
understanding the neural system of mentalizing has indentified a network of regions that minimally
involve the temporoparietal region (TPJ) and the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) (Abu Akel and
Shamay Tsoory, 2011). However, it is not completely clear the extent to which humans readily
mentalize (or adopt an intentional stance) with other humans or non humans (e.g., computers). Thus
an important goal of this study is to investigate how the neural network associated with adopting an
intentional stance is modulated under various interaction conditions in which the interacting partner
and the context are varied. Several studies employing various interactive games have been conducted
to uncover the neural basis involved in adopting an intentional stance. These studies followed a
similar script according to which participants were led to believe that they are playing either against a

Reflective Commentary On Alison Bechdel s Fun Home
Creative Response Reflective Commentary
I reworked Daniel Defoe s Roxana in the graphic novel style of Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Initially,
the reason I chose the two novels was to see how well the oldest text on the course could be adapted
into the newest. Interestingly the texts proved to be quite similar in narrative; both are versions of
autobiography (although one fictional and one true), both feature a retrospective first person, self
conscious narrator (Booth 155), and both centre around a female protagonist deviating from societal
norms of the time. Fittingly enough Roxana also mentions her father in the beginning, although she
leaves him dead quite quickly. Adapting a novel into a graphic novel is a drastic stylistic change, and
my biggest concern was to keep my adaption steadily tied with the two texts, whilst trying not to get
too carried away in the creative process.
I based my process of making the comic on an interview with Alison Bechdel, where she explains how
she planned the text in Adobe Illustrator, sketched and inked by hand, and finally rendered the panels
digitally ( Alison Bechdel ). Like Bechdel, I relied extensively on Google images for various details of

The italicised words and German capitalization gets lost in the all caps form of the graphic novel, yet
something lingers in terms of autonomy of the author. It has a disregard of normal stylistic
considerations affected not only by Defoe as a writer but also a progress towards a more factual prose
in the late seventeenth century (Watt 105). Nowadays, the fixed structure of grammar allows for little
waywardness in format, apart from in the graphic novel. Like Defoe, the individual artist has a certain
freedom of choice, affected only by general conventions, of where to place the text and how to guide
the reader it is an interesting case of a rare anarchic individuality in

Similarities Between The Pharisees And Sadducees
The Pharisees, Sadducees and Essenes were three religious groups who lived in Palestine during the
time of Jesus who was a first century Jew. The Pharisees and Sadducees were two well known Jewish
sects from the time of Jesus. Both opposed Jesus during his ministry. Historically they have been
derived from three main sources; the works of Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, the early Rabbinic
writing, 150CE and the New Testament. Recently found in the Dead Sea Scrolls at Quinram; each has
its limitations.
The Pharisees were frequently the adversaries of Jesus although some had befriended him (Luke 7:36,
11:30, 14:1) and he was warned of danger by some (Luke 13:3). Nicodemus believed in him but
secretly. The Pharisees are linked with the Hasidim of the Maccabean period (M2: 42 48). The
Hasidim emerged as a group strongly opposed to the adoption of Greek ways, because their customs
were associated with idolatry and immorality. They were essentially a lay movement, and as the
popular party in contrast to the Sadducees (aristocratic) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Report on Moore s Law
Moore s Law was first predicted in 1965 and hence adjusted in 1975 by Gordon Moore; and, it was
popularized by Carver Mead after the adjustment in 1975. In Moore s first law, it state a hypothesis
that that the number of transistor in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years.
The Moore s second law express which can be described as the economic side of Moore s Law
expresses that the cost of production of semiconductor fab would increase at a steady rate. In brief,
both of the Moore s Laws express the idea that the transistors in the integrated circuit will be doubled
every two years while the cost of the production will be halved at the same rate of doubling.
The Moore s Law was not such accurate from 1965 to 1975. At that time, the time for doubling is
about 12 months when the hypothesis was first in 1965. However, it decreased to about 18 24 months
in the last ten years. Therefore, many people thought the hypothesis was wrong. Even after the
adjustment of Moore s law, the questions still exist. Many people believed that development of
transistors would meet a physical limit leading to the end of Moore s law. However this time, the fact
prove that they were wrong. In that following 30 years, the Moore s Law was very accurate. As the
following diagram shows, the transistors in circuit was about 2300 in early 1970s. Then it increased to
29000 in the later 70s. Hence, the

Evaluation Of A Comprehensive Assessment Essay
Jadine Sawyer: A Comprehensive Assessment Assessment is an integral part of the counseling
process. It is not only vital to the gathering of information about a client in various areas, but through
effective use, it can also enhance the therapeutic alliance. As the ACA Code of Ethics (2014) states in
their very first code, Code A.1.a, the primary responsibility of counselors is to respect the dignity and
promote the welfare of clients, (p. 3). The proper utilization of assessment techniques is a tool for
counselors to accomplish that very responsibility. Juhnke (1995) stated, regarding assessment, that,
assessment provides direction for treatment and aids in the evaluation process...It is the counselor s
responsibility to gain sufficient information regarding the client and the client s presenting concerns to
establish an effective treatment strategy, (p. 2). In the following, we will examine a comprehensive
assessment of our client, Jadine, in which every effort was taken to gain sufficient information for the
benefit of helping her. This paper will outline the use of multiple assessment techniques with our
client, Jadine. It will not only include information gathered about Jadine and her presenting concerns
and symptoms, but also assessments and their results, all of which pertain to Jadine s current situation.
An examination of these assessments will also be explored, as well as their validity. Lastly, this paper

The Performance Measurement Of The Balanced Scorecard
Balanced Scorecard
A performance measurement tool
The balanced scorecard (BSC) is an extensively used performance measurement tool introduced to
take the strategy and vision of the business into real action from four perspectives: financial,
customers, internally progress and learning and grow. (Kaplan and Norton, 1996) From all these four
perspectives, it can be seen that this measurement tool is different from others because it concentrates
on both financial and operational information rather than only financial figures which make the tool
provide a more comprehensive of the business to shareholders and customers. In these years, BSC has
developed from the performance measurement tool to a strategic management system. ( Kaplan and
Norton, 1996, p 37) However, this essay aims at introducing the balanced scorecard as a performance
measurement from its origins, why business needs it, how it can be utilized, how the business can get
benefits from adopting this measurement tool and what potential problems and limits it has.
In the modern business world, intangible assets take a larger proportion than tangible assets in the
structure of total assets because the modern business tends to provide service more than products and
shareholders and customers pay more attention to the intangible assets rather than tangible assets.
However, the actual value of intangible assets is difficult to calculate and present in the real business.
In this situation, the balanced scorecard is

The Urbanization Of China s Urbanization
As we all know, with the enhancement of the world, the amount of cities in the world are augmenting

rural areas. However, when China has sufficient funds to program, we are definitely witnessing the
urbanization of China. China not only has plenty of advanced facilities in downtown, but it also is

Basketball Is The Most Popular And Beloved Sports Essay
Basketball is one of the most popular and beloved sports that is played today. Michael Jordan who
played for the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls once said, Just play, have fun, and enjoy the
game. (cite here) Whether playing with friends for fun or by professionals for entertainment or simply
watching from home, basketball is a sport that is enjoyed all over the world. Beginning with an unique
history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career choice for those
with the unique skillset.
During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a physical education teacher, Dr. James
Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where young men could play indoors instead of going
outside in the freezing cold. The teacher and inventor of the game name was Dr. James Naismith. To
get prepared for the game, Dr. Naismith came up with some rules for the game, gathered two peach
baskets for hoops and a soccer ball and he coached the first basketball game in history.
Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four out of the thirteen rules that he came up with no
longer are followed in today s version of basketball, the nine that are left were slightly modified and
are still in use today.
The original thirteen rules are as follows:
The ball can be thrown with both hands in any direction.
The player can not run with the ball, so they have to throw it where they caught it from.

Creativity has been an inherent part of human experience since remote times when visual forms

There have been dozens of definitions of entrepreneurship. The first of those is the phenomenon that
some people, rather than working for somebody else under an employment contract, strike out on their
own and become self employed. These economic entities involve some element of innovation at start
up, and some degree of innovativeness is needed to survive over time. However, innovation is not
central to this phenomenon. It is to the second social reality. This reality involves the development and
renewal of any society, economy or organization, which is based on micro level actors who have the
initiative and persistence to make change happen. In this reality, entrepreneurship means the creation
of new economic activities and organizations as well as the transformation of existing ones .

Magic In The Middle Ages
In the introduction of the book Magic in the Middle Ages chapter, one emphasizes the definition of
magic. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were
called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the
Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For
example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as
natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a
perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic s power source was from demons and that words
that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved
animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it
was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons.

The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy By Douglas Adams
One of the literary highlights of my life has been reading The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy by
Douglas Adams. The short novel is packed with tons of humor, not leaving any joke untold. However,
despite being by far the funniest book I ve ever read, it discusses some fascinating subjects, both
philosophically and scientifically. Because Hitchhiker s Guide is such a fantastic book, I propose a
course based around discussing the topics covered in the book and learning about the science and
philosophy behind the book. The course would allow for in depth discussions of a plethora of topics
like time travel and even the existence of God. It would be great for honors students because it would
take advantage of their natural urge to learn and debate as well as teach students about material that ...

For example, discussing a whale appearing in the sky and subsequently falling to the earth (which
happens in the book, if you haven t read it), would allow for discussion on both the probability of
random events (like a whale appearing in the sky) and life philosophy. Aside from discussing the
topics discussed by the book, the course could take a literary turn and discuss the use of humor and
writing of the book. Douglas Adams has a unique sense of humor, which is largely dominated by dry,
absurdly matter of fact statements. This would add a literary perspective to a course that already
discusses STEM and philosophical subjects. Part of the course would require reading The Hitchhiker s
Guide to the Galaxy, as well as reading The Science of the Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy by
Michael Hanlon, a book that discusses the same things the course would, and would give students a
jumping off point for class discussions. This course would offer multiple interesting topics for
everyone, and would foster intellectually stimulating

Essay about The Zulu Clan
The Zulu Clan
In the 1820 s, during a period of social unrest and warfare, the Zulu clan, a Bantu people, rose to
political prominence under the great King Shaka in present day South Africa. This period is called
mfecane, or crushing because it was characterized by Shaka s tyrannous reign during which he
conquered neighboring peoples and established a kingdom for the Zulu people on South Africa s
eastern coast. The word zulu was used in 1824 to refer to a war like race of South African Blacks .
(Ngubane, 1977) The British characterization of Shaka as a monster, however, is now seen as a
propagandist attempt to disguise their own interests in procuring land and labor in the region. In fact,
much of the violent disruption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering the social trauma associated with colonialism and apartheid the Zulu responded by
clinging more tenaciously to their heritage as a means of psychological survival in a society which
systematically degraded and disrespected them as a people. Berglund (1976) points out that it is the
rituals and symbols of a society which express the relationships between members of that society and
makes living in that society a meaningful experience. The focus of this paper will be centered on
traditional Zulu spiritual beliefs and, to whatever extent possible, not those adapted to Western
thought. In providing first the basic cosmological beliefs and then moving on to the central theme of
traditional spiritual beliefs involving deceased ancestors and their role in Zulu society, my goal will be
to demonstrate how social harmony is maintained as a result of the observance of these spiritual
beliefs and practices. According to traditional belief, uMveliqangi, the Lord of the Sky, emerged full
blown from the reeds in the realm of the sky. Man later emerged from the reeds and was let down to
earth through a hole in the floor of the sky. This explains the origin of the Zulu clan name, zulu
meaning of the sky . The Lord of the Sky then sent a chameleon down to earth to tell the people that
they will not die. Later on, he sent a

Archetypes In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men And La Strada
Rios 1
Natalie Rios
Mr. Tlumack
Honors English 10
3 December 2017 Archetypal Comparison Of Mice and Men and La Strada Archetypes can vary
dramatically through out books, movies and similar works of entertainment. However some writers or
directors may have the same kind of archetypes but present them in different ways. In the book Of
Mice and Men and the film La Strada archetypes such as grotesques, the journey, as well as social
hierarchy are present through out the entirety of each work to convey a larger more profound meaning.
John Steinbeck, author of Of Men and Men, and Federico Fellini, director of La Strada, use similar
archetypal to convey their own intention for their works. The use of grotesques in both works takes
form in the characters Lennie and Gelsomina. Each of the two characters suffers from their own flaw
that separates them from being seen as normal characters. In Of Mice and Men Steinbeck conveys
Lennie to be a man caught between civilization and nature. Through out the book he is never mentally
stable enough to be apart of civilization. As seen in chapter one he ...flung himself down and drank
from the surface of the green pool; with long gulps, snorting into the water like a horse. (Steinbeck. 3)
he acts like a wild animal incapable of a logical thought process. Lennie only ever sees things in the
moment and does not think of the repercussions that his actions could warrant after the fact. This

Cause Of The Revolutionary War
The British are coming, the British are coming! This is a quote often attributed to Paul Revere and his
ride through Lexington and Concord, when in reality it was more so the work of Samuel Prescott and
William Dawes. This is just one of the many events leading up to the Revolutionary War. The major
causes of the Revolutionary War include the Acts passed by Parliament, the colonists responses and
actions to the acts, and the battles and skirmishes between the British and the colonies.
One of the first events in colonial history to spark the idea of separation from England was the passing
of the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was the first direct tax on the colonists. It required all written

Analysis of Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely
In the book Predictably Irrational, Dan Ariely brings forth the idea that all human behavior is done
according to certain patterns; however these patterns are not always the patterns you would think of
right off the bat. He leads the reader in a compelling journey into the realm of the human mind, and
how humans view the world. For every turn of the page there is something new and surprising.
However even with this constant change the book follows the same pattern, proving all thought is
irrational. Dan s use of imagery and descriptions along with many studies of how the human mind
reacts to certain situations provide a stimulating read for all, regardless of the reader s beliefs. Dan s
ability to mix facts with opinion, forcing you to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone who reads this will have to wonder if they would do the same thing... The answer is,
surprisingly, yes. All people suffer from the same idea that any small amount better is okay, regardless
of if it is right to do so, so long as there is no chance of being caught. Now most people would say
right away that No, I would not do that , but after reading this book and thinking about this issue,
people would say that they would probably cheat on a test for 5 cents, especially if they couldn t be
caught. Dan also connects with his readers to interest them in further pursuing these topics. He
assumes that people reading this book are college level or higher and frequently references college
life. These references serve to make the reader think that not only are these facts he presents valid but
also that the reader is involved in this text. As an example Dan talks about the emergency pizza button
in MIT s East Campus. Anyone at MIT will instantly relate to this piece of humor he added in.
Because Dan knew his audience, he is able to custom create his message for these college students. He
does this both by his humor and the choice of studies he uses. All of his studies revolve around college
life and/or students relations outside of school. He makes it so thinking comes naturally to those
reading it, whether it is a simple thought such as, Hey, I did that , or That s my school , these readers

ZZZZ Best s Story
ZZZZ Best, Inc.
The start of ZZZZ Best:
ZZZZ Best started as a carpet cleaning company. Barry Minkow founded ZZZZ Best in his parents
garage in 1982 when he was only sixteen years old. Due to high competition in the industry, low enter
barriers, and bad internal control, this young entrepreneur started to have cash flow problems, and a
shortage of working capital.
Pressure Leads to Fraud:
Under financial pressure, Minkow started to commit fraud. He forged credit card applications, staged
theft, used bogus financial statements, and used his networking skills to entice wealthy investors. The
most serious fraud he made was inflating the value of the company s insurance restoration contracts
(Knapp, 2006).
Inflated Insurance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Opportunity:
The greatest opportunity for Minkow to commit fraud was ZZZZ Best s lack of financial supervision.
Lack of internal control facilitated manipulation of company s assets and transactions. It gave the CFO
the opportunity to falsify the documents and to create fictitious transactions. These transactions
created formidable revenues on the company s books and made it easy to borrow money from banks.
The weak external audit was the other opportunity that allowed Minkow to commit fraud. The auditor
was not familiar with the company and its related parties. In addition, the auditors placed too much
trust in management produced documents and failed to verify key transactions. These two important
reasons gave Minkow an opportunity to commit fraud.
3. Rationalization:
Minkow words, I started with the best of intentions, really I can say that, show that he started lying
because it was an easy way to start and maintain his business. However, he could not stop after he
borrowed a lot of money, and was forced to create bigger lies to cover the small ones. Minkow s
rationalizing behavior made it easy for him to continue lying in order to support the lifestyle he had
become accustomed to and to keep his fraudulent company afloat.
4. Individual s Capability:
Personal charm, conviction, and good organizational skills helped Minkow to get through many
problems during the fraud period. In particular, he was convincing

Essay on Stem-Cell Research and the Media
Stem Cell Research and the Media
Biomedical technology is getting much press due to the stem cell debate. A controversial topic in
itself, with the President of the United States taking a stand on the issue for funding purposes, the
topic has received even more press over the consequences resulting from President Bush s decision.
With the President s approval rating well over 80 percent since the September 11th attack, those who
contest any of his decisions have been receiving feelings of anger from those who support him. I,
however, would like to take a stand and contest Bush s decision to limit the stem cell research funding.

Readers of this article probably differ in their familiarity with Bush s decision; some already know
about President Bush s decision to limit the funding of the research, and thus Begley found no reason
to bring up the President s decision because many people have very strong opinions about the
decision. Other readers, however, may not have previously known the actual funding limits created by
Bush. Begley does not try to convey Bush s decision in this article, only to discuss the future research
effects of this decision and announcement.
In a way, Begley is trying to sell to the audience on the idea that 64 lines is not enough, thus taking a
stand against Bush s decision to limit the federal funding of stem cell research to the number of
colonies currently in existence. While Begley s words do not imply any direct disagreement with Bush
s limit, she would have taken a different approach and used different quotations if the purpose of this
article were to commend the president s decision that 64 lines are enough. In such a case, Begley
would not have ended her article with 64 might not be 64 after all, but rather a quotation that suggests
the potential power of the 64 lines.
Begley s article attempts to immerse the reader in the stem cell debate. A strong part of this

The Effects Of Fast Food On Americans Sitting At A Blue...
An apple red roof glinting in the sun attached to a pale building, about the color of an English tourist

bus stop. So far this area is very diverse. The sky is about as blue as my suffocating aunt when she
was born unable to breath (if you re at all concerned, don t worry, she s fine). No, this is not a
metaphor or mirroring of the blue bus stop. The bus stop is blue. The sky is blue. Get over it. Now, in

the most pompous voice you can, I promise it ads character), as we will call it for now, is a sign

Does Caldicott Use The Toulmin Methods
When I was reading the article about the Internet of Things (IoT) I had no idea what it was talking
about, and had to look up what IoT was. But after reading up on the IoT, and rereading the article, I
could see that Caldicott used the Toulmin methods the claim, qualifiers, reasons, evidences,
underlying belief, counter claims, and rebuttals.
The claim is an opinion about a topic that the writer is claiming is valid. Caldicott s topic for this
article is about the IoT in the workforce. I believe that this is Caldicott s topic because her whole
article is about the IoT. Caldicott s opinion about the topic is that IoT is going to change how
businesses run their companies, and with the changes she believes that her readers will need to learn
new skills to be able to make it in the business world. I consider this to be Caldicott s opinions

Caldicott I believe had two qualifiers. The first qualifier is the five skills that are needed to be learned.
I think that this is a qualifier because when Caldicott talks about the qualifier she mentions that the

of the twenty (Caldicott). The second qualifier is about the business that are using the IoT. The reason I
think this is a qualifier is because the article is read mainly by people that work in the business world,
and Caldicott only writes about the business using IoT or headed that

Analysis Of The Book Divergent By Veronica Roth
The novel Divergent , written by Veronica Roth is a science fiction book released in 2011. This novel
is about the character Tris Prior, who examines her own identity as she tries to fit herself in her society
made up of five factions. The aim of this diversion is to erase the threat of anyone who could
potentially harm or threat the population. This novel also has a romantic touch, between Tris and her
dauntless faction instructor, Four. This text illustrates the dangers of societies division, and how your
choices define your identity.
From reading this novel Divergent , an idea I found particularly interesting was the factions. The
societal structure is split into five different factions, which included Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity,
Candor and Erudite. The society members get to choose which faction they want to belong in, but
between each faction, there is conflict, until someday when war breaks out. I found this idea Veronica
Roth portrays is very unusual because she has made society divided depending on the way you act and
think. And tomorrow at the Choosing Ceremony; I will decide on a faction; I will decide the rest of
my life; I will decide to stay with my family or abandon them . I felt for Tris during this Choosing
Ceremony. The aptitude test was supposed to tell her which faction she belonged in, however since her
results from this test were inconclusive, meaning she is divergent, she had to decide between the three
factions her results told her she was a

The Role Of Technology In The Early 20th Century
Jillian Garrett
History 1493
Professor Hanshew
19 June 2015
Research Paper Technology in the early 20th century grew quickly and brought many changes to life
both at home and in work. Automobiles, home appliances, and entertainment changed how Americans
spent their time and money. During the early to mid 20th century America went through an
economical depression, two wars, and recessions, this caused many Americans to go through stages of
poverty, fear, and wealth. The advancement of technology did not come without downfalls including
pollution, debt, and change in moral beliefs. In 1903 the Ford Motor Company was founded in
Detroit, Michigan. Tames describes, when Henry Ford began producing vehicles his aim was to turn

Safety regulations were not originally in use when automobiles were first on the road which led to the
invention of traffic lights, cat s eyes, and painting of lines in the road to assist drivers. Vehicles have
come a long way since their introduction into American society and they continue to change as newer
technology grows. At the turn of the century many homes were cleaned by hand, food was prepared in
stoves, and children played in sitting rooms or outside. Technology allowed for changes to be made in
the home over the course of just a few years with the introduction of toasters, refrigerators, televisions,
and vacuum cleaners. Cooking for the household became easier with the advancements of gas and
eventually electric ranges. Busch describes how the shift from gas range to electric range was
beneficial as the units were smaller allowing more space in the kitchen, there was better temperature
control, and oven heat control and exterior coolness since older gas ranges lacked oven thermostats
and insulation. Refrigerators had been around for years, but were large and took up much of the room
in a kitchen. Isenstadt states, Electric refrigerators in the 1920s and 1930s were seen as a large step
toward modernization of the home. Shortly after this time customization of refrigerators became
popular and with advances in the electrical components involved the units became smaller. In 1908
advertisements became popular for upright vacuum

The Paradox Commandments Analysis
A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes emotion in its reader.
However, there are poems with another purpose besides making the audience feel something. Some
poems are used to educate, inspire, or give advice to it s readers. Two poems that offer excellent
advice about how to live life happily and successfully are If by Rudyard Kipling and The Paradoxical
Commandments by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If and Dr. Kent M. Keith, the
author of The Paradoxical Commandments give both similar and different advice, but this advice is
directed at two different audiences because of the way it is presented in the poems.
The largest difference between these poems is the demographic they are written for. If is undeniably
male dominant in comparison to The Paradoxical Commandments which has advice directed at
anyone who chooses to read it. The first indication that If has advice specifically given to males is in
line three when Kipling says, If you can trust yourself when men doubt you, This line could have
easily been adjusted to ... when people doubt you, to allow all readers to relate to it. The second time
Kipling makes it obvious his words are for male readers only is the second line of the final stanza Or
walk with Kings nor lose the common touch. Kings are clearly masculine, and as powerful as a person
can get in Kipling s eyes. The final line of the poem And which is more you ll be a man, my

Is Creon A Tyrant
Friends, Thebans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Recently many things have happened, and we must
now decide how to remember Creon, either as a patriot who was extremely devoted to his country, or
as a cruel and oppressive tyrant. There is little to praise about Creon, as he has caused tragedy to strike
our wonderful kingdom. Three members of the Theban monarchy have committed suicide, and now
we are hit by a devastating plague. Creon s actions were the catalyst for these disasters, which is why
he should be regarded as a tyrant. Creon should be remembered as a cruel and oppressive tyrant who
demonstrated reckless decision making skills, and caused the cruel death of three members of the
family. For this, Creon should be eternally scorned as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We should condemn Creon as an oppressive tyrant due to the heart wrenching blood on his hands. I
believe Creon was a homicidal King, guilty of second degree murder. Creon has caused the death of
three members of his family. The first death that Creon caused was the death of his niece Antigone.
Antigone s death was the result of Creon s decision to exile Antigone, along with Creon s attitude
towards Polyneice s burial. As a result of Creon s actions, poor Antigone committed suicide, hanging
herself in her temporary prison. If Creon had not declared the law to punish anyone who buried
Polyneices and sentenced Antigone to exile she wouldn t be in her prison in the first place. Also if
Creon was not stubborn and changed his mind quickly after being presented evidence by Teresias,
precious time would be saved and Creon might have had a chance to free Antigone before she killed
herself. Because of Creon s declaration of the unjust law and his stubbornness that wasted time, death
followed Antigone like a shark follows schools of fish. As well as Antigone s death, Creon s own son
Haimon died as a result of Creon s actions. Haimon commited suicide by stabbing himself with a
sword. Before stabbing himself, Haimon spat in his face. He said not a word staring and suddenly
drew his sword and lunged, (241). Haimon spat in Creon s face and tried to slice at him with a sword,
which showed that Haimon had strong animosity towards his father s hubris. I can

US Bombing In Syria
US airstrikes on a village north of the Syrian city of Raqqa killed at least 11 civilians, including four
children and six women, a UK based monitoring group reported Wednesday.
The bombing raid, which was launched just before midnight, is part of a protracted air war being
waged by the US military that has killed and wounded thousands of civilians in both Syria and
neighboring Iraq over the past three years.
In Syria, the airstrikes, ostensibly aimed against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), are being
carried out without any authorization from either the United Nations or the government in Damascus,
making them acts of aggression and war crimes.

The arming of the YPG is part of a steady escalation of the US intervention in Syria, which has seen
the number of US troops operating in the country double over the past few months. Moreover, the
Trump administration used the pretext of a chemical weapons attack, attributed without any
substantive evidence to the Syrian government, to launch an attack that rained 59 cruise missiles on a
Syrian government air base last month.
Meanwhile, US troops are participating in massive military exercises in Jordan, close to the Syrian
border, prompting growing speculation that a US invasion may be in preparation. Photographs taken
by Syrian drones have shown massed armor and large numbers of attack helicopters deployed near the
border. Photographs also were posted on a rebel website appearing to show US special operations
troops training a moderate rebel faction known as Mughawir al Thowra in Syria s al Tauf region near
both the Jordanian and Iraqi borders.

  • 2. Why Is Artemidorus The Most Honorable Man In Julius Caesar Artemidorus or Pindarus? Some of the most honorable people are some of the most forgotten or irrelevant whereas some of the most corrupt are the most known. There are more corrupt men than honorable men in the world. Without honorable men, the world would overflow with corrupt people. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has both honorable and corrupt men within the play. In my opinion, Artemidorus is the most honorable man is the play, whereas Pindarus is the most corrupt man in the play. To begin with, an honorable person is someone who can be trusted and are highly respected by everyone. Honorable do the right thing even if it s the hardest thing to do. Artemidorus is one of the most forgotten characters in the play, but plays a significant role. Artemidorus is the most honorable man in the play. Artemidorus writes a letter to Julius Caesar telling him about the conspiracy and names all the conspirators. By doing this he is risking his life to protect the life of Julius Caesar, because he is a devoted friend. Artemidorus then proceeds to go out and wait for Caesar to pass by to give him the letter on his way to the Senate to be pronounced King. This shows that no matter what the cost is, Artemidorus stands up for what he believes in and has the best intentions in mind. Artemidorus writes in this letter that despite the whole conspiracy going on, the gods are on Caesar s side. By telling him this in the letter it shows that even when times are bad, he always has something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Passing On The Gift Dan West Character Analysis Dan West was an exceptional man and a great leader. He graduated from Manchester College in 1917. He knew most of the students, and his classmates remember him as a friendly and social person (Yoder 22). He enjoyed thinking deeply about topics which greatly impacted his leadership skills and qualities. In Passing on the Gift: The Story of Dan West by Glee Yoder, a quotation from The Goshen News after Dan West died stated, The Church lost a plain and simple man, who saw in every person a divine image; his goal in leadership was to enable others to let this image come alive (165). Dan West loved the Church of the Brethren. Dedicated to spreading peace and ending hunger, he created the Heifer Project, an organization giving animals such ... In Passing on the Gift: The Story of Dan West, Glee Yoder states, He had a knack, a way of conveying a certain amount of support and at the same time challenging each person to pursue his or her own thoughts (133). Dan West demonstrated this quotation on summer with a group of campers. At a camp, Dan decided to challenge the campers by starting a talk session called open forum where he took a group of campers, and by the end of the discussion, every single camper wanted to join in on the discussion. He wanted everyone to feel as though they had something special and unique to contribute to the group. Willing to listen, Dan allowed and encouraged each person to speak (Yoder 36, 37). He enabled others to act, according to Kouzes and Posner s principles of leadership. Enabling others to act requires a leader to incorporate others in a conversation and actively listen to them. Dan West demonstrated this when he allowed every camper who wanted to speak, speak. He wanted each camper to feel special; therefore, he involved each one. He helped many to believe in their own worth, including the slow ones as well as the brilliant. He encourages persons to develop their own potential in their own way (Yoder 37). • 4. Triangular Number Of Triangular Numbers Triangular Numbers Eli Nazarian Ms. Ramson H Algebra 2A October 21, 2014 A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when they are put together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides). The most common object used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the triangle represent the triangular number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots which form a triangle. The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than the previous one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so on. When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number. For example, triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a triangular number of six. The letter T, followed but a number represents a certain triangle. The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is: Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2 T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the equilateral triangle. If a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N. The final answer of the problem would equal the number objects (dots) in the equilateral triangle. Example: n= length of 6 Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2 Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2 Solve. T6th= 6(7) T6th=42 T6th=21. 2 2 The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dziga Vertov Dziga Vertov s Man with a Movie Camera presents the everyday urban activities of people from the Soviet Union. Since the documentary film has no story at all, it also does not have continuity of action. This 1929 documentary made use of montage where images were edited together without visible or apparent connection between shots. This documentary film is considered as one of the greatest films of all time. It has neither actors nor story. It basically follows a camera man and his views of the Russian city. It is about film techniques and the process required in making one. Vertov believed that a camera has the power to unveil those aspects of the filmed events which otherwise cannot be perceived. During that time, there are variety of camera angles and editing styles and techniques that are being demonstrated in films. And one important aspects of this particular documentary film that is visible as the scene progresses is the type of montage used. Man with a Movie Camera consists of a series editing and collision editing which have their own purpose; there are scenes that show the man carrying his camera then quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For him, montage is a collision wherein the collision of two factors gives rise to an idea. An example of this in the documentary film is when a woman wakes up and starts to wash her face, then the film cuts to water cleaning off a pole. As the scene progresses, it shows a woman wiping herself using a cloth, then cuts to a woman wiping off a window (probably using a similar cloth). Lastly, the film cuts back to the woman cleaning her face and starting blinking as the windows starts to open and close at the same time (simultaneously with her blinking). This particular scene produces different interpretations but it may also imply (since collision editing was used) that the woman s life is similar to the life of the Russian city; they both go through ... • 6. Modernism And Postmodernism In The Twentieth Century Twentieth century is marked with two epochs, first half is known as modernism and second half is named as postmodernism. In the latter half of twentieth century there was an overall transferal in terms of culture, economics, religion, history, linguistics, social behavior, philosophy, arts, architecture, and literature. The world has entered into a new phenomenon that is being defined with the prefix of post . For istance from structuralism to poststructuralism, colonialism to postcolonialism, positivism to postpositivism and modernism to postmodernism. In Location of Culture Homi K Bhabha has defined the prefix of post under the context of post colonialism. He is of the view that post is such a prefix that does not give any direction rather it is directionless. The word which he has used to define this prefix is beyond (Bhabha, 1994) and defined that in this world beyond, there is no direction. Postmodernism is an approach that carries with it a wide variety of meanings, interpretations and phenomenons. It may refer to a concept, a practice, a life style, a new period etc. It is all permeating concept and has stretched in all directions across different borders, different debates, different disciplines and different discursive boundaries. Dick Hebdige gives a periodic list of the definitions of postmodernism in Hiding in the Light: On Images and Things. • 7. Rap Music And Its Effects On Modern Music Industry SOUTHERN RAP Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, and Virginia Beach, just like the names implies. Rap music has transformed modern music greatly during the decade of 1997 and 2007 (Dyson 61). The decade has seen the southern artists rise to both national and international prominence. The southern cities have churned up modern rap artists like Dwayne Michael (Lil Wayne), Clifford Joseph (T.I) and many others .This papers aims to examine various artists, music and scholarly articles in analyzing rap music in southern cities and its effects on modern music industry. In 1995, an Atlanta based rap group Goodie Mob introduced the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for their own economic prosperity (63). The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66). Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries. Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap genre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Playing against a Computer or a Human Research Background and significance Individuals participating in an interaction perceive one another as rational agents who possess beliefs, desires and intentions that might be different than their own. Assumptions made about these mental states are used to interpret and predict behavior. Conferring such attributes to an agent (human, computer, whatever) has been described as adopting an intentional stance (Dennet, 1996). Adopting an intentional stance is part of our broader ability to mentalize which involves representing and attributing mental states to oneself and others. Research concerned with understanding the neural system of mentalizing has indentified a network of regions that minimally involve the temporoparietal region (TPJ) and the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) (Abu Akel and Shamay Tsoory, 2011). However, it is not completely clear the extent to which humans readily mentalize (or adopt an intentional stance) with other humans or non humans (e.g., computers). Thus an important goal of this study is to investigate how the neural network associated with adopting an intentional stance is modulated under various interaction conditions in which the interacting partner and the context are varied. Several studies employing various interactive games have been conducted to uncover the neural basis involved in adopting an intentional stance. These studies followed a similar script according to which participants were led to believe that they are playing either against a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Reflective Commentary On Alison Bechdel s Fun Home Creative Response Reflective Commentary I reworked Daniel Defoe s Roxana in the graphic novel style of Alison Bechdel s Fun Home. Initially, the reason I chose the two novels was to see how well the oldest text on the course could be adapted into the newest. Interestingly the texts proved to be quite similar in narrative; both are versions of autobiography (although one fictional and one true), both feature a retrospective first person, self conscious narrator (Booth 155), and both centre around a female protagonist deviating from societal norms of the time. Fittingly enough Roxana also mentions her father in the beginning, although she leaves him dead quite quickly. Adapting a novel into a graphic novel is a drastic stylistic change, and my biggest concern was to keep my adaption steadily tied with the two texts, whilst trying not to get too carried away in the creative process. I based my process of making the comic on an interview with Alison Bechdel, where she explains how she planned the text in Adobe Illustrator, sketched and inked by hand, and finally rendered the panels digitally ( Alison Bechdel ). Like Bechdel, I relied extensively on Google images for various details of 17th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The italicised words and German capitalization gets lost in the all caps form of the graphic novel, yet something lingers in terms of autonomy of the author. It has a disregard of normal stylistic considerations affected not only by Defoe as a writer but also a progress towards a more factual prose in the late seventeenth century (Watt 105). Nowadays, the fixed structure of grammar allows for little waywardness in format, apart from in the graphic novel. Like Defoe, the individual artist has a certain freedom of choice, affected only by general conventions, of where to place the text and how to guide the reader it is an interesting case of a rare anarchic individuality in ... • 10. Similarities Between The Pharisees And Sadducees The Pharisees, Sadducees and Essenes were three religious groups who lived in Palestine during the time of Jesus who was a first century Jew. The Pharisees and Sadducees were two well known Jewish sects from the time of Jesus. Both opposed Jesus during his ministry. Historically they have been derived from three main sources; the works of Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, the early Rabbinic writing, 150CE and the New Testament. Recently found in the Dead Sea Scrolls at Quinram; each has its limitations. The Pharisees were frequently the adversaries of Jesus although some had befriended him (Luke 7:36, 11:30, 14:1) and he was warned of danger by some (Luke 13:3). Nicodemus believed in him but secretly. The Pharisees are linked with the Hasidim of the Maccabean period (M2: 42 48). In brief, both of the Moore s Laws express the idea that the transistors in the integrated circuit will be doubled every two years while the cost of the production will be halved at the same rate of doubling. The Moore s Law was not such accurate from 1965 to 1975. At that time, the time for doubling is about 12 months when the hypothesis was first in 1965. However, it decreased to about 18 24 months in the last ten years. Therefore, many people thought the hypothesis was wrong. Even after the adjustment of Moore s law, the questions still exist. Many people believed that development of transistors would meet a physical limit leading to the end of Moore s law. However this time, the fact prove that they were wrong. In that following 30 years, the Moore s Law was very accurate. As the following diagram shows, the transistors in circuit was about 2300 in early 1970s. Then it increased to 29000 in the later 70s. The Performance Measurement Of The Balanced Scorecard Balanced Scorecard A performance measurement tool The balanced scorecard (BSC) is an extensively used performance measurement tool introduced to take the strategy and vision of the business into real action from four perspectives: financial, customers, internally progress and learning and grow. (Kaplan and Norton, 1996) From all these four perspectives, it can be seen that this measurement tool is different from others because it concentrates on both financial and operational information rather than only financial figures which make the tool provide a more comprehensive of the business to shareholders and customers. In these years, BSC has developed from the performance measurement tool to a strategic management system. ( Kaplan and Norton, 1996, p 37) However, this essay aims at introducing the balanced scorecard as a performance measurement from its origins, why business needs it, how it can be utilized, how the business can get benefits from adopting this measurement tool and what potential problems and limits it has. In the modern business world, intangible assets take a larger proportion than tangible assets in the structure of total assets because the modern business tends to provide service more than products and shareholders and customers pay more attention to the intangible assets rather than tangible assets. However, the actual value of intangible assets is difficult to calculate and present in the real business. In this situation, the balanced scorecard is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Safety regulations were not originally in use when automobiles were first on the road which led to the invention of traffic lights, cat s eyes, and painting of lines in the road to assist drivers. Vehicles have come a long way since their introduction into American society and they continue to change as newer technology grows. At the turn of the century many homes were cleaned by hand, food was prepared in stoves, and children played in sitting rooms or outside. Technology allowed for changes to be made in the home over the course of just a few years with the introduction of toasters, refrigerators, televisions, and vacuum cleaners. Cooking for the household became easier with the advancements of gas and eventually electric ranges. Busch describes how the shift from gas range to electric range was beneficial as the units were smaller allowing more space in the kitchen, there was better temperature control, and oven heat control and exterior coolness since older gas ranges lacked oven thermostats and insulation. Refrigerators had been around for years, but were large and took up much of the room in a kitchen. Isenstadt states, Electric refrigerators in the 1920s and 1930s were seen as a large step toward modernization of the home. Shortly after this time customization of refrigerators became popular and with advances in the electrical components involved the units became smaller. In 1908 advertisements became popular for upright vacuum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Paradox Commandments Analysis A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes emotion in its reader. However, there are poems with another purpose besides making the audience feel something. Some poems are used to educate, inspire, or give advice to it s readers. Two poems that offer excellent advice about how to live life happily and successfully are If by Rudyard Kipling and The Paradoxical Commandments by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If and Dr. Kent M. Keith, the author of The Paradoxical Commandments give both similar and different advice, but this advice is directed at two different audiences because of the way it is presented in the poems. The largest difference between these poems is the demographic they are written for. If is undeniably male dominant in comparison to The Paradoxical Commandments which has advice directed at anyone who chooses to read it. The first indication that If has advice specifically given to males is in line three when Kipling says, If you can trust yourself when men doubt you, This line could have easily been adjusted to ... when people doubt you, to allow all readers to relate to it. The second time Kipling makes it obvious his words are for male readers only is the second line of the final stanza Or walk with Kings nor lose the common touch. Kings are clearly masculine, and as powerful as a person can get in Kipling s eyes. The final line of the poem And which is more you ll be a man, my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Is Creon A Tyrant Friends, Thebans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Recently many things have happened, and we must now decide how to remember Creon, either as a patriot who was extremely devoted to his country, or as a cruel and oppressive tyrant. There is little to praise about Creon, as he has caused tragedy to strike our wonderful kingdom. Three members of the Theban monarchy have committed suicide, and now we are hit by a devastating plague. Creon s actions were the catalyst for these disasters, which is why he should be regarded as a tyrant. Creon should be remembered as a cruel and oppressive tyrant who demonstrated reckless decision making skills, and caused the cruel death of three members of the family. For this, Creon should be eternally scorned as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We should condemn Creon as an oppressive tyrant due to the heart wrenching blood on his hands. I believe Creon was a homicidal King, guilty of second degree murder. Creon has caused the death of three members of his family. The first death that Creon caused was the death of his niece Antigone. Antigone s death was the result of Creon s decision to exile Antigone, along with Creon s attitude towards Polyneice s burial. As a result of Creon s actions, poor Antigone committed suicide, hanging herself in her temporary prison. If Creon had not declared the law to punish anyone who buried Polyneices and sentenced Antigone to exile she wouldn t be in her prison in the first place. Also if Creon was not stubborn and changed his mind quickly after being presented evidence by Teresias, precious time would be saved and Creon might have had a chance to free Antigone before she killed herself. Because of Creon s declaration of the unjust law and his stubbornness that wasted time, death followed Antigone like a shark follows schools of fish. As well as Antigone s death, Creon s own son Haimon died as a result of Creon s actions. Haimon commited suicide by stabbing himself with a sword. Before stabbing himself, Haimon spat in his face. He said not a word staring and suddenly drew his sword and lunged, (241). Haimon spat in Creon s face and tried to slice at him with a sword, which showed that Haimon had strong animosity towards his father s hubris. I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. US Bombing In Syria US airstrikes on a village north of the Syrian city of Raqqa killed at least 11 civilians, including four children and six women, a UK based monitoring group reported Wednesday. The bombing raid, which was launched just before midnight, is part of a protracted air war being waged by the US military that has killed and wounded thousands of civilians in both Syria and neighboring Iraq over the past three years. In Syria, the airstrikes, ostensibly aimed against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), are being carried out without any authorization from either the United Nations or the government in Damascus, making them acts of aggression and war crimes. The monitoring group Airwars has cited reports of as many as 13,407 civilians killed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arming of the YPG is part of a steady escalation of the US intervention in Syria, which has seen the number of US troops operating in the country double over the past few months. Moreover, the Trump administration used the pretext of a chemical weapons attack, attributed without any substantive evidence to the Syrian government, to launch an attack that rained 59 cruise missiles on a Syrian government air base last month. Meanwhile, US troops are participating in massive military exercises in Jordan, close to the Syrian border, prompting growing speculation that a US invasion may be in preparation. Photographs taken by Syrian drones have shown massed armor and large numbers of attack helicopters deployed near the border. Photographs also were posted on a rebel website appearing to show US special operations troops training a moderate rebel faction known as Mughawir al Thowra in Syria s al Tauf region near both the Jordanian and Iraqi borders. While Washington escalates its intervention in Syria, the bloody US backed siege of Iraq s second largest city, Mosul, continues to grind on into its eighth month, with thousands of civilians killed and hundreds of thousands driven from their ...
