Geert Hofstede Cultural Perspective Theory
Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries or
societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of its
population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty avoidance,
individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term orientation. By
focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide
rates could potentially be explained.
Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self expression.
Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people and prioritize
their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less importance is placed
on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies. Countries such as the
United States, United Kingdom, and Australia are examples of individualistic cultures. In contrast,
collectivistic cultures place an emphasis on collaboration, shared interests and harmony, and focus on
loyalty and cooperation. Collectivist cultures therefore tend to value group efforts over an individual s,
and each person is encouraged to be an active person in society. Southeast Asia, South and Central ...

Therefore, individualistic people tend to not display suicidal behavior, because individualistic people
grow up in types of environment that builds their EQ, which reduces the chances of them attempting
suicide as individualists are better prepared for harmful and stressful situations. In contrast to
collectivistic where uniqueness is not favoured and harmony amongst peers are. This shows that
different cultures have different sets of beliefs and rules which defines how a person behaves and react

Essay on Amnesia in Memento Directed by Christopher Nash
The film, Memento, tells a multidimensional story about a man, Leonard Shelby, who suffers from
short term memory loss illness, anterograde amnesia. He is impaired by this medical issue due to
being hit on the head when defending his wife, who was attacked and raped in their house during the
middle of the night. He kills one of the invaders during the attack. With inability to form new
memories, one of the last things Leonard remembers is seeing his wife, die. He then devotes his life to
finding and killing the second attacker. However, Leonard, being unable to store and remember new
memories, develops a technique to help him recall what has already happened in his life post head
trauma. He does this by using hand written notes, tattoos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie switches back and forth between various series of color and black and white sequences.
The black and white scenes illustrate the story in chronological order; whereas the scenes in color
continue in reverse chronological order, demonstrating the use of flashbacks. However, the opening
credits unfolds a scene of Leonard killing Teddy, who is a claimed and assumed, but unproven police
officer, assigned to the rape of Catherine Shelby, Leonard s wife. He is also an acquaintance of
Leonard, who attempted to assist him in his determined search for his wife s killer. Although, the
audience realizes this beginning scene actually exposes the end of the conclusion of the story. The
black and white sequential scenes and the reversal color scenes alternate awaiting the conclusion of
the film where they meet in the middle of the story.
Director and screenwriter, Christopher Nolan, portrays the movie s protagonist, Leonard Shelby, as a
flawed hero tries to find some justice in an unfair world, as wrong was done onto him with the rape
and murder of his wife. This neo noir thematic device is displayed through Leonard, as he is, at heart,
a genuinely good person, despite making questionably moral decisions, in this case to naivety and
gullibility due to his mental incapability. Suffering anterograde amnesia, the death of his wife is a

Information Is Based On Age And Gender
Information/Measurement My information is based on Age and Gender. Most of my mathematical
data will use (years) as its units. However for standard deviation and the Chi Squared test the expected
values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As for the P values and the Critical values will be given
in exact numbers. Mathematical Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean,
median, mode, and range of both genders. I got this data table from
(http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005061.html). This link leads to a table from the U.S Bureau of the
Census. The table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010. The
median of both genders were found in the 14th spot in the data table. The mode was observed in both
genders. Also observed was that the most occurring ages for both male and female happened in the
same 10 year time span. The process of finding the mean was shown below. Table 1: Raw Data

Significance And Significance Of Onrust Island
Introduction Onrust Island is one of the islands located in Jakarta Bay, along with Cipir Island, Kelor
Island, and Bidadari Island, all four are parts of Onrust Island Archaeological Park. Onrust Island
measured of a 120000 m², although the size is relatively small, Onrust Island is rich in archaeological
remains. The archaeological remains are varied, ranging from 17th to 20th century. Those are the
evidence of the long history of Onrust Island. The early notes on Onrust Island appeared in 1610 when
the VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie) requested approval from Prince of Jayakarta to utilize
Onrust Island for shipbuilding purposes. Subsequently, in 1615 a shipyard was build in Onrust Island
for maintaining VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie) ships (Heuken 2016). The year of 1619

Cirrhotic Essay
Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific
indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients.
The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and
associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse
effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic
ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I: proton pump inhibitors. EVS:
esophageal variceal Sclerotherapy. EVL: esophageal variceal ligation. HE: hepatic encephalopathy.

A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However,
high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic
procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit
becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low
amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9].
These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without
EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas
the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to
bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the
indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as
general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to
gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and
gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence
becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. Currently, PPIs are the
mainstay treatment option of peptic ulcers in the

Metaphors And Symbolism In Death Of A Salesman
ABSTRACT
Miller has been one of the most outspoken American writers of the last four decades. He has held
generally progressive and radical views and has variously written against racism, capitalism and
Vietnam war. All these ideas are amply reflected in his plays. Death of a Salesman was Miller s play
and an instant success. It was hailed as a modern classic and has put Miller among the foremost
playwrights of this century. Death of a Salesman Miller is still concerned with the exploitations of the
individual and the evils of a commercial society. The protagonist Willy Loman ,was a traveling
salesman, and his family were the main characters in this play. The usage of Language, verbalism,
Symbolism were extraordinary and unique from other styles of Drama.

He has ambition and expectations beyond his reach. This aspect is revealed by a contradiction in his
name low man and his dream of high man . In his own vision and dreams, his sons to him are only
boys , kids , little children with nollypops needing his advice and care. He fails to regard them as
grown up adults. Death of a Salesman, on a close examination, will be found a play with logical and
linguistic contradictions. But such contradictions are deliberate and are used to sharpen the effect.
Willy Loman suggests his moral immaturity through logical as well as linguistic contradictions,
especially when offering advice to Biff. He warns his sons: gee is a boy s word , and he uses this term
frequently. He complains: not finding yourself at the age of thirth four is a disgrace! , and greatest
thing in the world for him was to bum around, and that Biff is a lazy bum. And after some he
grumbles: And such a hard worker. There s one thing about Biff he s not

Pro Abortion Cons
Introduction
Abortion is a polarizing topic that everyone will have their own opinion on. Abortions have an
increasing number of cases all over the world. All of these cases have factors such as social economic
issues. As the Merriam Webster dictionary mentions, the termination of a pregnancy after,
accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus: such as a
spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation. Since abortions is
much of a controversial topic, there are many sides to it. The two main sides/groups are pro life and
pro choice. According to the article Pro Life vs. Pro Choice, a person who is pro life believes that the
government has an obligation to preserve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When rape happens, one didn t intend on having/keeping the kid. So, therefore, abortion must happen.
According to a national sample of women it states that there was an estimated of 32,101 pregnancies
result from rape each year. 50% of those women underwent abortions. According to the fact sheet that
Guttmacher Institute has provided online, it states that in the years of 2010 2014 the abortion number
were statistically significant. In most developing countries, there have been 49.3 million abortions.
Advantages Of Abortions
Aborting an unexpected child gives young women a chance to finish/pursue their education.
According to article/blog The Drop Out Crisis and Teen Pregnancy written by Olivia Marshall states
that back in 2011 1.3 million high school students who dropped out; 30 percent of girls cite pregnancy
or parenthood as a key reason of why they left school. Cause a young woman may not have the
resources to still be in school be able to take care of the child. Abortion has also been a help to women
with health problems. Women who have diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, and anemia have
been able to avoid serious medical complications with abortions. There are many other advantages.
Parents used this method to control the family size. Such as being in a family of 6, you feel like
having another one is too high so you abort it. Rape victims also use abortions as an advantage. Rape
victims wouldn t want to keep the unborn child because

WHAT IS POPPING WITH CORN?
Corn is a vegetable I consider a gift and so do Native Americans. It s known and appreciated around

Teosinte, it is believed to be over 80,000 years old, first discovered and cultivated by the Inca s, and
the Mayans almost 5,000 years ago. Scientist are still finding corn pollen in the in the lakes beneath

Disadvantages Of Food Processing Industry
The food handling industry is one of the most delicate industries in the world. Some food processing
industries include cannery, fish processing industry, sugar industry, meat packing plant and slaughter
house among other. The main purpose of such industries is to ensure that consumers get food that is in
good condition thereby avoid any food related illness. Usually, these industries employ the use of
preservatives methods to increase their shelf life so that consumers get these products while still fresh.
The industry changes raw food materials into products that may be easily prepared by consumers. This
industry also provides a market for large scale farmers to sell their products, thus earning the farmers
income in return. This paper will help one understand the importance of such industries to the
economy of any country. Although they are essential, these industries also have their downsides. The
paper will also look at some of the downsides of such industries. To conclude, it will help one take a
stand as to whether the industry is essential or a destruction of human life.
The main purpose of food processing industry is to increase the value of crops. Certain crops cannot
be consumed as they are, straight from the farm. An example of such crops includes coffee, tea, wheat
and tobacco among others. In their raw form, these products cannot be consumed by a human. They
need to undergo processing so that may be of use to man. The food processing industry then comes in.

The Recollection Of A Failure In My Family
Not every family is as picture perfect as they seem. In my family, we like to take family photos to
show our growth and to get to see each other all together. While these family photos are always
pleasant beforehand, they turn out to be a total disaster. Just a couple weeks ago my family had our
pictures taken. The photos turned out extremely well, but if only the camera could see the turbulent
ride that led to a disaster at our house. There were so many people with attitudes and the atmosphere
was so chaotic that everyone was stressed out of their minds.
My first recollection of an event like this would be at my aunt Lori s house. Her husband, my cousin,
and her two daughters live there as well. My cousin is thirty five and her two daughters are fourteen
and nine years old. We also have a black lab that lives with us as well. To start out the day we all have
breakfast at home. Which consisted of french toast, sausage, and hashbrowns. At this point in time
everyone is happy. No attitudes, fighting, or even a scent of bad behavior. After breakfast is where it
starts to go downhill.
It s about 10:30 AM and pictures are at 12:30 AM. We all go our separate ways and start to get ready
and not even 15 minutes my two cousins are fighting over a small, pink, hair brush. A stupid hair
brush. Which is crazy because they have about twenty in the whole house and they only fight over it
because the other one has it. After about three minutes, the anger spread to their mother who was

Justice And Justice In Roscoe Pound s A Theory Of Justice
III. JUSTICE WITH AND WITHOUT LAW
Legal films narrate stories that have been made dramatic by invoking the audience s sense of justice
and injustice. Since the early Greek tragedies, justice betrayed or denied, sought and vindicated, has
been a central element of drama . But what does justice truly mean? Rawls (in his A Theory of Justice)
equates justice with fairness, while Dworkin (in Justice for Hedgehogs) talks of justice encompassing
equality, liberty and most importantly being inseparable from law. More recently, Roscoe Pound (in
his Justice According to Law) highlights the possibility of both justice with law and justice without
law.
Pound states that there was justice even before the law came into being, and even now, the laws are
amended or moulded for every unique situation that presents itself to the system. So, while a certain
measure of justice may be achieved by following the law since it is uniform, ... Show more content on

that while revolutionaries apply force to overthrow an established order and create a new, more fitting

Dopamine Functions In The Brain
Author Sally Robertson discusses how dopamine functions in the brain. Dopamine is a member of a
class of molecules called the catecholamines , which serve as neurotransmitters and hormones. In the
brain, dopamine serves as a neurotransmitter and is released from nerve cells to send signals to other
nerves. Dopamine has already been proven to have roles in thinking, memory, movement and reward.
However, researchers have shown that dopaminergic neurotransmission plays a central role in
modulating pain perception and analgesia within certain parts of the brain including the insula,
thalamus, basal ganglia, anterior cingulate cortex and periaqueductal gray. In cases of acute pain
suffered after an injury, pain signals are sent from the site of

Plato s Ethics: An Overview
This document explores the meaning of human life, its purpose, what it serves for and also what
factors affect them and how. We analyze Plato s expressions and thoughts about what makes us
humans. From virtues to building a perfect city, Plato tries to explain in different occasions the
morality behind humans. He is focused on understanding the why and how can humans reach their
highest potential with the given resources such as nature and others.
Plato begins explaining the beginning. The search for knowledge, the understanding what are things
and what are their purposes. As argued in the Meno, perplexity is an intermediary stage towards
knowledge. As we know, with knowledge comes everything else. It is explained also that in order to
want to seek knowledge, one must possess virtues, like courage. Courage is the one to push you into
knowing something. These are the things that will drive someone into knowing the basis of
everything. For example a square, in order to do one or understand it one must know what are lines,
points, etc.
Next, begins a discussion on what justice and injustice are, a virtue or not, whether they make us
happy or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Written Essays On Topics Such As Abortion, Union Organizing,
written essays on topics such as abortion, union organizing, and the role of women in society. One of
her articles entitled I Want a wife was first published by The feminist magazine Ms. in 1972. After she
wrote it she reprinted it as Why I [Still] Want a Wife in Ms. in
1990 ( Judy Brady. ). The reason she wrote, I Want a wife was because at that time women were
fighting for the right to become an equal in the eyes of society and winning the battle in more ways
than one. Women had earned the right to an abortion, and finally the right to vote.
Judy Brady s was a feminist, a political and environmental activist. She uses her writing to portray a

Each sentence she composes is a candidly charged depiction of what men anticipate from their ladies,
and how she trusts this isn t the way lady ought to experience their lives. My most loved some portion
of this article draws close to the end, where Brady has gone over every one of the things men expect
and closes with a cunning yet hilarious completion. She stated that after every one of the things that
men require out of their ladies, at last, they can simply supplant them with somebody more
appropriate? I trust this was the most genuine piece of her exposition, and trust she accomplished in
achieving ladies of that period. Now, rather than men attempting to make their spouses get things done
for them, they enlist housekeepers to do their undertakings. In the event that I, for one, could enlist
somebody to carry out specific employments for me the rundown could appear to be practically
boundless!
In my opinion what Brady is letting the reader know is very much needed. The wife or mother is the
one who mostly takes care of the children. In the article, Brady said, I want a wife to make sure my
children eat properly and are kept clean. I want a wife who will wash the children s clothes and keep
them mended. I want a wife who is a good nurturant attendant to my children, who arranges for their
schooling, makes sure that they have an adequate social life with their peers, takes them to the park,
the zoo, etc. I

Informative Speech On Gypsum Crystals
Have you ever wondered where bacterias found? Well besides on your own hands, rare bacteria and
viruses can be found in gypsum crystals! When gypsum crystals are formed, over millions of years,
bacteria and viruses are trapped in air bubbles. Then people like me, find and study them. I m a

biologist I work in hot and humid conditions everyday. Therefore, having the proper gear is critical!
So, I will shed some light on this tech. To start, respirators; which are used to breath the hot and heavy

to be most beautiful in my opinion. Overall, these humongous caves are wondrous and vast in size.

Abby Lee Dance Analysis
Being a psychology major, I tend to enjoy dances that appeal to emotion through stories. The dance
that I decided to write this paper on is a small group contemporary piece performed by the Abby Lee
Dance Company. This dance has a sad theme to it, as it deals with the topic of suicide. They use props
including a table and three telephones to add creativity to the piece. This dance is interesting to me
because of the affiliation it has to mental illness, which is personally important to me. This dance,
called Suicide Hotline, features a dancer in a white costume who is going through a tough time, she is
the focus of the group dance. Three other dancers, dressed in black, are there to help her and in a sense

Invasive Species And Its Effects On The Environment
All of our Earth s ecosystems are fragile. The transfer of energy and the interactions within them are
kept in frail balance by nature, similar to a tightrope walker balancing themself at a height of a few
hundred metres. What would happen if that tightrope walker lost his balance and fell? Similarly, what
would happen if a species arrives at a foreign ecosystem? If a non native species negatively affects its
environment, then it is considered an invasive, or alien, species. The human society is in crisis.
Invasive species cause the damage of the native environment. They are one of the causes for the
decline in the human economy. The invasive species also negatively hinder our health. This
phenomenon is occurring in a global scale, impacting Lake Victoria in Africa to the Oak Ridges
Moraine in Canada. People are trying to use different techniques to control the introduction of
invasive species and negate their impact on the native environment. Invasive species are a threat to
their foreign environment and should be prevented from causing further damage. When mentioning
the term invasive species , its definition is ambiguous when taken out of context. It is when a non
native organism, or group thereof, negatively influences its introduced environment. From this
definition, any species on Earth has the potential to be dubbed an invasive species (Environment
Yukon, 2014). Thus, an invasive species can be found anywhere on Earth, and has occurred the
moment following the

Command Economy Vs. Command Economies
A market economy is an economy in which decisions regarding investment production and
distribution are based on supply and demand, and prices of goods and services are determined in a free
price system. (Alvather, 1993) Market economies may be practical, but they also rest upon the
fundamental principle of individual freedom: freedom as a consumer to choose among competing
products and services; freedom as a producer to start or expand a business and share its risks and
rewards; freedom as a worker to choose a job or career, join a labor union, or change employers.
Market economies are not without their inequities and misuses. A number of them genuine, however it
is likewise verifiable that cutting edge private endeavor and entrepreneurial soul, coupled with
political vote based system, offers the best prospect for safeguarding flexibility and giving the most
extensive streets to investment development and success for all. (Davis, 2009) A command economy
is a system where the government, rather than the free market, determines what goods should be
produced, how much should be produced and the price at which the goods will be offered for sale. The
command economy is a key feature of any communist society. Command economy also known as are
not able to proficiently allot merchandise on account of the learning issue that the focal organizer s
powerlessness to observe how much of a good ought to be delivered. Shortages and surpluses are a
common consequence of command economies.

Impact of the Bourgeoisie on Exploration During the Age of Discovery
Thesis: Most people believe that The Age of Discovery was the product of a handful of adventurous
explorers. They were an important part of this Age, but theirs was not the main motivation. I believe
however, that the Bourgeoisie provided the impetus of this Age.
The Bourgeoisie, a social class most distinct from the rest, remains one of the most influential
economic leaders throughout Europe during the Age of Discovery. Exploration and newfound wealth
drove this class into being so powerful that their presence threatened the Aristocracy and social strata.
Let it be known that the drive behind the bourgeoisie was not centered as much on religion as it was

Records describe the self made man society, the Bourgeoisie along with Nobility and the Proletariat.
The ancient Bourgeoisie made up the middle section of merchants who carried on commerce. The
presence of the Bourgeoisie is shown by the law code of the Babylonian king, Hammurabi (2067 2925
BC), which has numerous provisions dealing with merchants and the carrying on of commerce (Palm,
8). Egypt prospered and had a really energetic Bourgeoisie. Thebes became the main metropolis; the
main center for trade. Phoenicia rather than Egypt became the top Bourgeoisie State of the ancient
world. The citizens demonstrated progress in domestic manufacturing, ship construction, foreign
colonization, and general commerce. Exchanging and receiving products of the East and West, they
visited most parts of the world.
Increased competition arose by Greece, Arabia, Lyons, and Asia Minor, not to mention Babylon and
Mesopotamia. Phoenicia still tried to keep her status; for the Phoenicians had great knowledge of
navigation and geography. The Greeks tried to destroy Phoenicia s control, acquiring commercial and
industrial interests that quickly changed as trade with foreign lands rapidly expanded. The business
classes were now obtaining great wealth. The Bourgeoisie business class sometimes became so
powerful that occasionally revolted against the Aristocracy within their own city states. To please the
Bourgeoisie, the Aristocracy would arrange a new classification of the

The Theory Of Plate Tectonics
Plate Tectonics The theory of plate tectonics has been explored throughout history because of
similarities in coastal boundaries and other evidence found such as fossil records, geometric fit,
mountain episodes, the paleoclimate observed, information about the ocean floor, ancient magnetism,
distribution of volcanoes and earthquakes and heat flow from the earths core. There were early
theories from Wegner s continental drift which lacked an explanation for the mechanism that drove the
continents apart, to Wilson s more complete theory of the cyclical opening and closing of the ocean
basins due to movement of the earth s plates. The theory explains how today s continents were once a
large supercontinent that slowly drifted to their present positions and will again form one giant
continent via collision.
According to the Natego film Colliding Continents, the landmasses are liable to drift back to each
other through plate tectonic activity. One of the few places on Earth where one can see continents
being pushed apart is in Iceland, where the mid Atlantic ridge in shows above the surface and shows
how oceanic crust is made, the ridge in Iceland is almost three miles wide on one side you have the
Eurasian plate and the other is the American plate. This rifts grows forming new rock and causes the
continents further apart widening the Atlantic Ocean moving about an inch a year. The theory suggests
that we go through cycles of dispersion and collision over a 100 million year

Critique Of The Cadian Ball
During the late 1800s, many new ideas came with the industrial revolution. With these ideas came
thoughts on how to change the way our sociality was working. Writers especially brought out the
opinions of they these radical ideas, by writing and spreading these ideas. At the Cadian Ball fails to
advocate a change in the social system, by mixing races and classes, but at the same time, and
supports the norm of marring someone of your own class, by have all four of the main characters
marry into the same class.
Within the story all the characters speak the same language, giving everyone an equal ground,
showing that everyone has something in common. During the story the narrator tells us, They
belonged to the younger generation, so preferred to speak English. (Chopin 6). This tells us that they
all speak the same language, with shows that they are all similar, but we can also infer that because
they state that they do this because they are younger, that the older generations, did not do this and
strengthened the divide between classes by speaking different languages.
The Cadian Ball advocates a change in the social class by featuring multi class and race couples, but
does not fully support the statement by having the characters marry others of their class. They talked
low, and laughed softly, as lovers do. (6) Alcee and Calixta are stated as lovers, even though this is the
1800s, there is a mixed race couple, but the story doesn t portray this negative. They also show

Machiavelli The Prince
Political theorist Niccolò Machiavelli s, The Prince , exemplifies an early depiction of several modern
ideological principles that would sustain and preserve nations (especially after the separation of the
church and state) in the sixteenth century. In this critically acclaimed work, Machiavelli satirically
bequeaths a map of qualities that princes should steadfastly uphold and advance. Expressly, the
qualities mapped out are frequently criticized as, crafty, cunning and unscrupulous methods by which
a prince can acquire and maintain political power . One of the most prominent principles that almost
served as a catalyst and enchiridion for Machiavelli s ethical behavior as an eminent political figure of

In fact, he believes it would benefit princes much more to appear virtuous but not to genuinely be
virtuous considering that one who is not too concerned with being convicted by their moral compass
will be more likely to efficaciously claim victory and attain the goals of the state. However, he does
call princes to be able to dissemble and hide their true motives as the individuals/common people of a
state do concern themselves on how governmental officials appear but not necessarily how they really
are (and will still appreciate them greatly despite their deviousness/cruelty especially if the official
seems virtuous and if the people and state are benefitting from the outcomes of the governments

The Active Audience On Pop Culture
The Active Audience
In modern communication, there are various types of culture. The most widely known of these types is
pop culture. Pop Culture in short, is every meme, perspective, image and phenomena that are within
the mainstream of a culture which has created an active audience. This active audience has a role in
pop culture as to how it creates and defines music, movies and race in popular culture.
In a culture, there will always be an active audience in the music industry. In the article Mix it up , it
shows us how the original song from the past is then is then somewhat recreated by the active
audience as an homage. An example is the song Tainted Love and Where Did Our Love . To clarify
both of these songs combined to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, it s Elvis Presley and Big Mama Thornton where Big Mama Thornton originally recorded
Hound Dog to which Elvis Presley s overshadow s Big Mama Thornton original version. For this
reason it depends on which audience the artist wants to attract because Elvis Presley attracted young
teenagers during the 50 s and 60 s and this was during the post World War II baby boom from 1946
1964. To conclude the lively audience is both the consumer and producers when it comes to the music
industry
Movies were a relatively a recent addition to popular culture only beginning at about a hundred years
ago. The reason why it s part of pop culture is the fact that it s an active audience. For example in
Steven J. Ross article, he wrote that by 1910 26 million people, nearly 30% of the American
population when to go watch movies per week and by 1920 it became half of the population. This
shows that their action made the film industry a staple in pop culture from it early beginnings.
Additionally, the active audience can control if the film be part of the mainstream or not. For instance
in order for a film to be mainstream a large group of followers must come with this. An example
would be the Star Wars franchise more specifically the title for the new movie. In the article The Force
Awakens? Star Wars fans wish it was literally anything else . The audience discusses have mix
feelings about the title fitting simplicity and making fun of it giving different

Put It In Space Analysis
put it in space. When a $280 million mission is looked upon as cheap it is safe to assume that space
exploration is indeed very expensive. The cost of the International Space Station alone has been
estimated to cost about $142 billion (Thompson). Due to high costs, people question why money is
being put toward space exploration when there are large amounts of human suffering on Earth. It
seems as though putting even a small fraction of the money that is used to support space programs and
exploration towards aid to areas and countries that are suffering would solve many problems. For
reasons such as this, many critics feel as if the money would be better spent here on Earth rather than
in the great unknown that is space.

Cross Border Terrorism And Kashmir
Cross border terrorism in Kashmir
Since the beginning, Pakistan s two nations theory that The Hindu and Muslim cannot stay together in

of partition and consider that being Muslim majority state contiguous with its territory should be part
of Pakistan. After losing three battle (in 1947 48, 1965, 1971 and Kargil conflict in 1999) on the name
of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan, they failed. Pakistan very well knows that in
conventional war they will never accession Jammu and Kashmir; they approached the low conflict
intensity war with India by using sub national actors as a relatively cheap and easy way to keep Indian
forces to tie down and to balance the conventional asymmetry, for which even death is a laser price to

Genetically Engineered Children Research Paper
Genetically Engineered Children
My personal opinion on genetically engineered children is that there should be research done to aid
the development of it, but there should be a limit. The prescreening of embryos and possible changing
of genes so a child doesn t have a fatal illness is a tool that we should be able to use in the time of
need. The passing on of fatal genes could cease with technology like this, and that is where the
research should be going, not to determining specific traits of a child. The amazing part of being a
human is being complex and diverse and not knowing how your child will be compared to you. To
take away the variation is to take away the amazement of life. If you can pick how smart, tall, and

Many believe the tampering with children in vitro is wrong entirely; saying God s work or fate is
solely in control of these thing; but that isn t valid in my opinion. When you look at the science behind
creating life there is so much left up to simply what chromosomes pair with each other that is what
makes up your child. To just discredit any type of aid that could come to a family whose bloodline
passes on fatal traits is negligence to me. On the other hand, there is a large group of people who don t
focus on the medical benefits of this type of research but simply on the aesthetics of their unborn
child, which seems miniscule and unimportant when you re dealing with life threatening diseases
being passed on, but is an over stepping of boundaries this research could lead to. There is no evident
answer to whether genetically engineered children are immoral or not, but I believe there is a line that
needs to be drawn by who is still to be determined, but the research should still be done in order to get
to a point where we can delegate

Essay on Superman vs. Christ
Faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, jumps tall buildings in a single bound.
Superman is known throughout the world for being the savior of a city called Metropolis. In every
comic book, movie, or action figure ever presented to the public, Superman is a handsome, strong man
who can defeat all odds at all times. The movie Superman was a success, showing how the superhero
saved lives and yet lived a humble life. As one watches the movie, though, he might notice the many
similarities between the plot of the movie and the story of Christ s coming. Superman, savior of the

At the beginning of the movie, it shows three people standing on trial and a vote that was to be
decided by Jor el. Zod, who was one of two men on trial, told Jor el to let him go and that he would let
Jor el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to God and trying
to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in the movie that showed
itself to be on the same path as Christ s coming was when Jor el said the father in the son, and the son
in the father, before he was to send Kah lel off into the universe towards Earth. Another moment was
when Kah lel throws the crystal and his father appears to tell his son that he is pleased with him and
that he should now start his ministry after roaming the wilderness for the past twelve years. Not only
does this scene in the movie agree with the Bible s story of Christ s twelve lost years, but it also is
similar to when Christ was baptized by John. When Christ s baptism took place in the river Jordan, a
voice from Heaven came down upon the crowd and said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am
well pleased. From the beginning to end of the movie, there are times in which Superman looked to be
modeled after the story of Christ s coming.
While the names and the actions matched up for both stories, there were also cases where an object s

  • 2. Geert Hofstede Cultural Perspective Theory Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries or societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of its population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term orientation. By focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical location on suicide rates could potentially be explained. Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self expression. Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people and prioritize their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less importance is placed on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies. Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia are examples of individualistic cultures. In contrast, collectivistic cultures place an emphasis on collaboration, shared interests and harmony, and focus on loyalty and cooperation. Collectivist cultures therefore tend to value group efforts over an individual s, and each person is encouraged to be an active person in society. Southeast Asia, South and Central ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, individualistic people tend to not display suicidal behavior, because individualistic people grow up in types of environment that builds their EQ, which reduces the chances of them attempting suicide as individualists are better prepared for harmful and stressful situations. In contrast to collectivistic where uniqueness is not favoured and harmony amongst peers are. This shows that different cultures have different sets of beliefs and rules which defines how a person behaves and react to certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Amnesia in Memento Directed by Christopher Nash The film, Memento, tells a multidimensional story about a man, Leonard Shelby, who suffers from short term memory loss illness, anterograde amnesia. He is impaired by this medical issue due to being hit on the head when defending his wife, who was attacked and raped in their house during the middle of the night. He kills one of the invaders during the attack. With inability to form new memories, one of the last things Leonard remembers is seeing his wife, die. He then devotes his life to finding and killing the second attacker. However, Leonard, being unable to store and remember new memories, develops a technique to help him recall what has already happened in his life post head trauma. He does this by using hand written notes, tattoos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie switches back and forth between various series of color and black and white sequences. The black and white scenes illustrate the story in chronological order; whereas the scenes in color continue in reverse chronological order, demonstrating the use of flashbacks. However, the opening credits unfolds a scene of Leonard killing Teddy, who is a claimed and assumed, but unproven police officer, assigned to the rape of Catherine Shelby, Leonard s wife. He is also an acquaintance of Leonard, who attempted to assist him in his determined search for his wife s killer. Although, the audience realizes this beginning scene actually exposes the end of the conclusion of the story. The black and white sequential scenes and the reversal color scenes alternate awaiting the conclusion of the film where they meet in the middle of the story. Director and screenwriter, Christopher Nolan, portrays the movie s protagonist, Leonard Shelby, as a flawed hero tries to find some justice in an unfair world, as wrong was done onto him with the rape and murder of his wife. This neo noir thematic device is displayed through Leonard, as he is, at heart, a genuinely good person, despite making questionably moral decisions, in this case to naivety and gullibility due to his mental incapability. Suffering anterograde amnesia, the death of his wife is a fresh, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Information Is Based On Age And Gender Information/Measurement My information is based on Age and Gender. Most of my mathematical data will use (years) as its units. However for standard deviation and the Chi Squared test the expected values will be reduced to 3 significant figures. As for the P values and the Critical values will be given in exact numbers. Mathematical Process As described in my introduction, I have found the mean, median, mode, and range of both genders. I got this data table from (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005061.html). This link leads to a table from the U.S Bureau of the Census. The table is displaying the median age at first marriage between the years of 1890 2010. Cirrhotic Essay Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients. However, high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9]. These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. The photos turned out extremely well, but if only the camera could see the turbulent ride that led to a disaster at our house. There were so many people with attitudes and the atmosphere was so chaotic that everyone was stressed out of their minds. My first recollection of an event like this would be at my aunt Lori s house. Her husband, my cousin, and her two daughters live there as well. My cousin is thirty five and her two daughters are fourteen and nine years old. We also have a black lab that lives with us as well. To start out the day we all have breakfast at home. Which consisted of french toast, sausage, and hashbrowns. At this point in time everyone is happy. No attitudes, fighting, or even a scent of bad behavior. After breakfast is where it starts to go downhill. It s about 10:30 AM and pictures are at 12:30 AM. We all go our separate ways and start to get ready and not even 15 minutes my two cousins are fighting over a small, pink, hair brush. A stupid hair brush. JUSTICE WITH AND WITHOUT LAW Legal films narrate stories that have been made dramatic by invoking the audience s sense of justice and injustice. Since the early Greek tragedies, justice betrayed or denied, sought and vindicated, has been a central element of drama . But what does justice truly mean? Rawls (in his A Theory of Justice) equates justice with fairness, while Dworkin (in Justice for Hedgehogs) talks of justice encompassing equality, liberty and most importantly being inseparable from law. More recently, Roscoe Pound (in his Justice According to Law) highlights the possibility of both justice with law and justice without law. Pound states that there was justice even before the law came into being, and even now, the laws are amended or moulded for every unique situation that presents itself to the system. So, while a certain measure of justice may be achieved by following the law since it is uniform, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a non native species negatively affects its environment, then it is considered an invasive, or alien, species. The human society is in crisis. Invasive species cause the damage of the native environment. They are one of the causes for the decline in the human economy. The invasive species also negatively hinder our health. Phoenicia rather than Egypt became the top Bourgeoisie State of the ancient world. The citizens demonstrated progress in domestic manufacturing, ship construction, foreign colonization, and general commerce. Exchanging and receiving products of the East and West, they visited most parts of the world. Increased competition arose by Greece, Arabia, Lyons, and Asia Minor, not to mention Babylon and Mesopotamia. Phoenicia still tried to keep her status; for the Phoenicians had great knowledge of navigation and geography. The Greeks tried to destroy Phoenicia s control, acquiring commercial and industrial interests that quickly changed as trade with foreign lands rapidly expanded. The business classes were now obtaining great wealth. The Bourgeoisie business class sometimes became so powerful that occasionally revolted against the Aristocracy within their own city states. To please the Bourgeoisie, the Aristocracy would arrange a new classification of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Theory Of Plate Tectonics Plate Tectonics The theory of plate tectonics has been explored throughout history because of similarities in coastal boundaries and other evidence found such as fossil records, geometric fit, mountain episodes, the paleoclimate observed, information about the ocean floor, ancient magnetism, distribution of volcanoes and earthquakes and heat flow from the earths core. There were early theories from Wegner s continental drift which lacked an explanation for the mechanism that drove the continents apart, to Wilson s more complete theory of the cyclical opening and closing of the ocean basins due to movement of the earth s plates. The theory explains how today s continents were once a large supercontinent that slowly drifted to their present positions and will again form one giant continent via collision. According to the Natego film Colliding Continents, the landmasses are liable to drift back to each other through plate tectonic activity. One of the few places on Earth where one can see continents being pushed apart is in Iceland, where the mid Atlantic ridge in shows above the surface and shows how oceanic crust is made, the ridge in Iceland is almost three miles wide on one side you have the Eurasian plate and the other is the American plate. This rifts grows forming new rock and causes the continents further apart widening the Atlantic Ocean moving about an inch a year. The theory suggests that we go through cycles of dispersion and collision over a 100 million year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Critique Of The Cadian Ball During the late 1800s, many new ideas came with the industrial revolution. With these ideas came thoughts on how to change the way our sociality was working. Writers especially brought out the opinions of they these radical ideas, by writing and spreading these ideas. At the Cadian Ball fails to advocate a change in the social system, by mixing races and classes, but at the same time, and supports the norm of marring someone of your own class, by have all four of the main characters marry into the same class. Within the story all the characters speak the same language, giving everyone an equal ground, showing that everyone has something in common. During the story the narrator tells us, They belonged to the younger generation, so preferred to speak English. (Chopin 6). This tells us that they all speak the same language, with shows that they are all similar, but we can also infer that because they state that they do this because they are younger, that the older generations, did not do this and strengthened the divide between classes by speaking different languages. The Cadian Ball advocates a change in the social class by featuring multi class and race couples, but does not fully support the statement by having the characters marry others of their class. They talked low, and laughed softly, as lovers do. (6) Alcee and Calixta are stated as lovers, even though this is the 1800s, there is a mixed race couple, but the story doesn t portray this negative. They also show ... Expressly, the qualities mapped out are frequently criticized as, crafty, cunning and unscrupulous methods by which a prince can acquire and maintain political power . However, he does call princes to be able to dissemble and hide their true motives as the individuals/common people of a state do concern themselves on how governmental officials appear but not necessarily how they really are (and will still appreciate them greatly despite their deviousness/cruelty especially if the official seems virtuous and if the people and state are benefitting from the outcomes of the governments unscrupulous acts). The cost of the International Space Station alone has been estimated to cost about $142 billion (Thompson). Due to high costs, people question why money is being put toward space exploration when there are large amounts of human suffering on Earth. It seems as though putting even a small fraction of the money that is used to support space programs and exploration towards aid to areas and countries that are suffering would solve many problems. The prescreening of embryos and possible changing of genes so a child doesn t have a fatal illness is a tool that we should be able to use in the time of need. The passing on of fatal genes could cease with technology like this, and that is where the research should be going, not to determining specific traits of a child. The amazing part of being a human is being complex and diverse and not knowing how your child will be compared to you. To take away the variation is to take away the amazement of life. On the other hand, there is a large group of people who don t focus on the medical benefits of this type of research but simply on the aesthetics of their unborn child, which seems miniscule and unimportant when you re dealing with life threatening diseases being passed on, but is an over stepping of boundaries this research could lead to. The movie Superman was a success, showing how the superhero saved lives and yet lived a humble life. Zod, who was one of two men on trial, told Jor el to let him go and that he would let Jor el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to God and trying to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in the movie that showed itself to be on the same path as Christ s coming was when Jor el said the father in the son, and the son in the father, before he was to send Kah lel off into the universe towards Earth. Another moment was when Kah lel throws the crystal and his father appears to tell his son that he is pleased with him and that he should now start his ministry after roaming the wilderness for the past twelve years. Not only does this scene in the movie agree with the Bible s story of Christ s twelve lost years, but it also is similar to when Christ was baptized by John. When Christ s baptism took place in the river Jordan, a voice from Heaven came down upon the crowd and said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.
