Who Is The Husband In Cathedral
If Cathedral were to have been told by the wife in the story instead of the husband, I would expect the story to be less
skeptical of Robert but not have a point made at the end. The wife has known Roger much longer than her husband.
She is also very close with him. The husband seems nervous to have a blind man in his home. He seems skeptical to
open his home to the man probably because he does not know what to expect seeing as he has never met a blind
person before. The wife would not be nervous because she knows how to help and take care of Robert after being his
care takers for a short while.
However, the husband s skepticism and premature judgement of Robert is the entire lesson of the story. After not fully
welcoming Robert into his

What Is Mental Health Normal Or Abnormal
Mental Health Normal or abnormal.
Mental health is described as a state of emotional and psychological well being in which an individual is able to use
his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life.
The impairment of behaviour in psychological and interpersonal disciplines in daily life are some of the aspects that
are more likely to be considered as a sign of abnormality. Another aspect of abnormality in society is that when a
person contrast in behaviour and intelligence from the majority of people, wether good or bad, is classed under an
abnormal behaviour, it is also known as statistical infrequency. One of the well known case emerged in USA, where
58 year old man from USA, remembers up to half the days of his own life in shockingly vivid detail (The Telegraph).
He was diagnosed with a condition called hyperthymestia, meaning overdeveloped memory. This rare condition is
only discovered in just four people around the world. Another aspect of measuring mental health is deviation from
social norms and cultural relativism. For example, homosexuality is still considered as a mental illness or abnormal
behaviour in most of the countries, including India and Africa.
The two different form of classification systems are widely used to identify the psychological disorders in depth. An

hundred feet from the field, too far for human eyes to see, a wolf! I tried to decide whether being plucked or eaten
being was worse. I decided to be plucked instead. So I landed a few feet from the villagers, out of Kilf s eyesight. One

First Component Of My Observation Assignment
On March 18, 2017, I began the first component of my observation assignment. In contemplating where I was to do
my observation, I wanted to find a location with a lot of people, a location that was indoors, and a location that would
provide me with a wide point of observation that would allow me to peacefully and conspicuously observe people
while taking notes in my notebook. As a result, I decided on the second floor above the lounge area in the Santa Anita
mall, located in Arcadia, CA, on a Saturday afternoon. Prior to beginning my observation, I did not expect to be
nervous, but as soon as I parked in the parking lot and began making my way to my observation point with my
notebook and pens clenched in my hand, feelings of nervousness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, when people alter their behaviors, it sometimes becomes impossible to know when a person is truly
being themselves. This type of playing the part leads into the sociological theory known as Dramaturgy. Dramaturgy
was first theorized by Erving Goffman. Goffman believed that people conduct themselves differently in different
situations to appear in some way that is advantageous, kind of like actors playing different characters in films. For
instance, there was a group of teenagers who were taking lots of pictures with each other. However, one boy was just
off to the side calmly looking at his friends. After a few minutes of this, his attitude completely changed, and he
jumped into one of the pictures with his friends and began taking more pictures. After they all took pictures, they all
left to another part of the mall, and this boy returned back to his calm self. This was a perfect example of someone
who was playing the part of appearing more social even though he may not have actually felt that way. In addition,
usually at in door stores and restaurants, dogs, or other pets, are not allowed because they can be messy or impact
people s enjoyment. Whiling observing, two women sat down below me in the lounge area. One of the women had a

Themes Of Ecocriticism In Literature
Eco criticism is a branch of literature that examines the connection between ecology and it s relationship between the
literary texts . By the words of Cheryll Glotfelty defines eco criticism as Simply defined, eco criticism is the study of
the relationship between literature and the physical environment. Eco criticism is the term that examines the green
studies in various literary texts. Eco criticism examines a particular piece of literary work from an ecological

Eco critical studies probe into the relationship between the writer s texts and nature. Eco criticism is an ecological
approach towards literary studies. The word Eco is the short form of ecology. Ecological studies probe into the
attitude of humans towards nature. It ventures to traverse the different aspects of the environment in literary texts and
conceptual discourse. In Indian fictions some authors use ecological concept as the centre and some takes it as
secondary. Ecocritical readings of canonical texts, the, begin by adding a different perspective, and are not limited to
works self evidently about nature (Barry 250). In Indian fiction there are not many novels that deal with the theme of
ecocriticism. So in that concern, the dissertation concentrates on Amitav Ghosh s novel The Hungry Tide in an eco
critical perspective. The story has been developed by the Sundarbans region in India that acts as a backbone of the
story. The novel brings how the connection between human and nature is not just interdependent but

Key Characteristics Of Data Warehouse By William H. Immon
Data warehouse does not mean just place for store data or save historical record of data, the form of multi data source
can be deceptive. Because, you can control of how big of data warehouse will be. Data warehouse was founded by
William H. Immon and he defines it as subject oriented, integrated, nonvolatile, time variant collection of data
organized to support management needs The major of subjects is arranged in data warehouse. For example, inventory,
products and customer, to get more benefits form data warehouse it must be integrated by collecting from databases
across enterprises, the information for customers should have code or described specifically according to departments.
All departments the procedures on database are updated on a regular basis with deletion, insertion and changes. The
operations that only be in data warehouse the data can be loaded and the data can be accessed. Once whole data forms

Midnight Blue Research Paper
The colors I chose for my family have reasons. I chose the color black for my sister, Tabitha, because she has a dark
personality. She likes to be alone, and not be bothered by anyone. For my mother on the other hand, I chose Purple
Pizzazz. She tries to help everyone at the best of her ability and take care of my family so I chose a color that popped
out and a color that looked important. For my father I decided on the color Midnight Blue. I think blue is an
intelligent and strong color and my dad s is very smart and strong. For me I could only think of Lime green. Lime
Green is a balanced color but it can also mean envy. I try to stay balanced but sometimes I go over the edge and that is
why I chose Lime Green as my color.

Hanukkah celebrations is another. They make this food for other reasons too. The first is to honor the Holy oil and
another reason is because they like to make and eat these fried foods. Dairy food wasn t popular until the middle ages

The Inflammatory Response in the Pathogenesis of Asthma
In this article Dr. Foaud explains the inflammatory response that occurs in the airways of asthma patients and how the
different types of cells and respiratory epithelial interact in the process. Respiratory epithelium, mast cells,
eosinophils, basophils, and leukocytes all play an critical part in not only the inflammatory response but also in the
way that they may be utilized to inhibit the response to help treat asthma. The article also explains how chemokines

Factors that may be modified include, obesity, smoking, allergen exposure, infections, drug and non adherence to
management regimens.
One study concluded that almost 75 % of asthma patients seeking emergency room treatment were overweight or
obese (Jilcy, Aronow, Chandy, 2012). Being obese or overweight can lead to a compromise in ventilation and
restrictions in tidal volume (VT). Studies have show that weight loss eases symptoms of asthma and if possible a
weight loss program should be implemented (Jilcy et al., 2012).
Decreasing exposure to allergens in the environment, workplace and food can help lower the number of
exacerbations. It is thought that continued exposure to allergens can lead to chronic inflammation and airway
remodeling. The elimination of dander, dust mites, dust, and other allergens has been shown to alleviate symptoms
and should be made a priority especially smoking. For homes that have pets or other sources of allergens installing
filters on the HVAC registers in home will help reduce the amount of allergens put back into the

Mass Migration to America During the 19th Century
This essay will address the reasons as to why there was mass migration to the United States of America during the
nineteenth century. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to industrialisation and employment
and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the
reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is
important to emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country.
With all of this considered, this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard
in the decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach of this
essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America. In the nineteenth
century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the century, and the later half of the
century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled
with family, and intended to acquire land and settle permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half
of the century were drawn from urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants
were typically unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton,

An Experiment to Prove the Need for Light in Photosynthesis
In conclusion to my investigation light is definitely needed and is important in the process of photosynthesis. Light is
not only important in the light dependant stage but the light independent stage wouldn t occur without light because
light is changed from light energy to chemical potential energy and is carried out through the ATP and NADPH which
takes the energy to the Calvin stage where that energy is used to make other organic compounds that we may be able
to use like glucose. I also learned that light helps in the breaking down process of chemical compounds and without
light, there is no photosynthesis and that means not oxygen for respiration for organisms. Without light, since it s a
limiting factor, and photosynthesis does not occur the whole earth would be affected, there would be more carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere causing global warming, there is a knock on effect of how the Earth would be affected if
there was no light for photosynthesis. Light is a very important
Article 1:
Light is needed in the first stage which is called the light dependent stage. Light is absorbed in the leaf, also called the
lamina, because it has a greater surface area and has more chloroplast where you find chlorophyll which absorbs the
light. This raw factor is very limiting to this process, without it photosynthesis will not happen, even if you increase
the amount of carbon dioxide and temperature it still won t occur. This article is relevant to my investigation and has

George Santayana And Transcendentalism

his family to the United States when a child. Santayana spent a substantial amount of his time working at Harvard

These entitlements accompany Santayana well with is his mature philosophy. He was skeptical about religious matters
and believed that the pervasiveness of religious beliefs and faiths are of value of understanding but not accepting or

Either we share Emerson s intuition or we do not. Either we see the beauty of the whole or we do not. And if we do
share Emerson s spirituality, we also share his category of mistakes, the confusion of the logical relationship between
good and evil with the possibility that good deeds or characters may emerge in response to evil experiences. Later,
Santayana concludes that Emerson is optimistic in regards to his nature, his form of life, or his character rather than
his thought. Although Emerson thinks he is making a critical point, actually it is his gratuitous affection for any and
all things natural, in other words, his way of living rather than a theory or ways of thinking. Emerson s optimism is
something that has to be shown or exemplified biographically, not vindicated metaphysically or epistemologically. In
conclusion, Santayana believes Transcendentalists think nature is a product of the mind, and without the mind nature
would not exist. Both Calvinism and Transcendentalism were beginnings to a presented belief. In order to categorize
one as such, Santayana describes the mind to be distressed, and have other radical subjective criticism of knowledge.
When these two ideas disappeared, systems ceased to be sensibly understood. They became only sacred mysteries.
Therefore making the transcendental system seem especially

Pop Music Legends Of The 1960 S
One of the most colorful music legends of the 1960 s was Janis Joplin. Blues legend Janis Lyn Joplin was born on
January 19th 1943 and is the oldest child. Janis was born and raised in the small Southern petroleum industry town of
Port Arthur, Texas. By all accounts, however, Janis seems to have been a normal and happy child, who fitted society s
usual definition of pretty .It was in Janis adolescence that the hang ups and hassles that were to affect the path of the
rest of her life. In a sense, her rigid upbringing played a large part in making Janis who she was. This would never
have been admitted at the time, but, predictably, the Port Arthur ethic created a fire inside Janis and kept it burning
until her death. Janis troubles began, when she was a teenager with her good looks gradually began to disintegrate, her
soft blonde hair turned into an unruly brown mane. She also developed severe acne, which would scar her mentally as
well as physically. Hence, Janis became something of a loner, as was named the ugly girl. She soon began avoiding
mirrors, and her anxiety about her looks was made worse by the constant taunts by peers, who rejected her and often
made fun of her. When Janis found that society had rejected her, she rejected it. Janis grew up on classical music and
country music back in Texas, discovered the blues in Louisiana. Janis was soon inspired to both learn and appreciate
music, and its roots were her idols included Odettea, Leadbelly and Bessie

Marius s Loyalty To Power
Besides gaining an army, Marius gained something else: the extreme personal loyalty of the same landless masses
which he recruited into his army. The recruiting of the masses would change the entire relationship between citizens,
generals, the Senate and Roman institutional ideology. Prior to Marius, the armies may have been loyal to a particular
commander or general, but still fought first and foremost for the Senate and People of Rome, as well as the
preservation and expansion of their own estates. After Marius, they fought for their Legate, that is their legally
appointed commander, and for the plunder and glory he could provide. These troops had no life outside the army, and

What they have but heard or read, I have witnessed or performed. What they have learned from books, I have
acquired in the field; and whether deeds or words are of greater estimation, it is for you to consider. Marius clearly
understood that the military and its functions were not in a vacuum in relation to politics and moved to capitalize on
this realization. His movement through politics would foreshadow those of his nephew Gaius Julius Caesar, 50 years

Emotions In The Novel The Mark Of The Dragonfly
In the novel The Mark of the Dragonfly, the main character Piper had many different emotions throughout the book.
Sometimes Piper has more positive and joyful emotions, while on the other hand she might have negative and not so
jolly emotions. Piper s emotions change over the course of the novel and are different from the beginning of the novel
towards the ending of the novel. In page 24 in the book it states, A cold knot of dread settled in Piper s stomach. Isn t
he with you? That sentence would show Piper feeling fear or dread , when she realized that Micah was missing. This
is giving me the idea that the emotion that Piper is feeling, is going to change the way the author writes the book, like
when the author used a cold knot of dread. That would show, since Piper is feeling fear, the author includes more
descriptive language that in other parts of the novel. Another emotion change Piper had earlier in the book was in

DNA In Crime Scene Investigation
Nowadays, DNA is a crucial component of a crime scene investigation, used to both to identify perpetrators from
crime scenes and to determine a suspect s guilt or innocence (Butler, 2005). The method of constructing a distinctive
fingerprint from an individual s DNA was first described by Alec Jeffreys in 1985. He discovered regions of
repetitions of nucleotides inherent in DNA strands that differed from person to person (now known as variable
number of tandem repeats, or VNTRs), and developed a technique to adjust the length variation into a definitive

Each person inherits two copies of these markers from his or her mother and father, so a higher similarity denotes a
closer biological relationship. The probability of two samples matching is around one in a billion (dna.gov). DNA
profiles are compiled by using gel or capillary electrophoresis to separate samples into a pattern distinctive of the
subject s DNA based on ionic charge, size, or mobility. Usually, samples in the database are searched at moderate
stringency, which requires that all alleles between the two samples match, but the number of alleles can vary,
accounting for DNA contamination or degradation. Partial, or candidate, matches are samples that have a similar
number of alleles in the forensic profile but are not exact, and are used in familial DNA searching to find close
biological relatives of the original forensic profile. Other evidence is used to determine relatives, including Y
chromosome analysis, which traces family relationships based on the fact that the Y chromosome is transmitted
directly between a father and his sons; age; and geographic location. The process is based on the principle that first
order relatives have closer DNA profiles than unrelated individuals, and also on the sociological assumption that
criminal tendencies appear in families; according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics Correctional Populations

Police Brutality Of Police Officers
Recently police have come under fire for the deaths of many unarmed African American males. This has broken the
trust between civilians and police and torn our country apart. People are frustrated about the killings of unarmed
citizens and how it seems every officer can get away with killing an unarmed suspect. Back in 1994 a law was passed
that required the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to record date on police involved shooting and deaths by
police officers. Except where are the numbers that would show there is an increase in unarmed African American
deaths from police officers? The 1994 law requires the FBI to keep record of police shootings across the United
States. However, the only police shooting records that could be found on the FBI website was Justified Homicide
From on Duty Officers from 2008 2012 . So the question becomes where is the data that proves there is an increase in
African American deaths by the hands of police officers. With the recent outcry of Police Brutality you would think
that the FBI would ve released records or started recording any and all police shootings. Experts say that we aren t
experiencing an increase in police shootings just an increase in media coverage of police shootings. According to a
professor from University from Albany who teaches sociology says his research has found that major news agencies
have elevated the coverage of police fatalities despite the decrease of police killings according to statistics. Aaron

Los Angeles Union Station Research Paper
The Los Angeles Union Station Los Angeles Union Station began as a thought in the early1900 s but it was not until
1933 that construction began based upon the plans of Parkinson and Parkinson, a father and son team. With the
collaborative efforts of many designers, such as Herman Sachs and Warren Hoak, construction was completed in
1939. The only major structural changes made since then have been the massive semi dome on the east side, and an
office complex that was added in the 1990 s. The elements used for a building must blend together or the design will
not seem unified and LAUS is an iconic and almost seamless cultural blend of old style Spanish Colonial Revival,
which includes elements of Romanesque Revival as well as Moorish Revival and Southwestern elements with the
newest style of the period known as Art Deco Modern Streamline. Constructed at the tail end of the glamour and
opulence associated with the railway romanticist era, it has been credited by many as the last great train station ever

The Importance of Elections as a Linkage Institution and...
14 October 2012 American Politics Midterm Exam Question 3 The Importance of Elections as a Linkage Institution
and Voting Linkage institutions can be defined as institutions that connect citizens with the government. Examples of
linkage institutions include elections, political parties, interest groups, and the media. Elections specifically are
supposed to encourage public participation in the selection of governmental officials. Unfortunately, low voter turnout
has proved that elections are an imperfect linkage institution. Elections depend on voters to be successful, and some
factors that relate to the likelihood of voting include age, education, and race. Although some people underestimate
the power of the vote, voter turnout is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment, African Americans were disenfranchised in the South by
intimidation and electoral trickery, including whites only primaries, rigged literacy tests, and poll taxes (Patterson
2011, p. 180). The Freedom Riders rode through the South, enduring harassment and imprisonment to encourage
other African Americans to vote. Voter turnout in African American communities is greatly encouraged. Personally,
coming from an African American family, I was strongly encouraged by my parents and grandparents to vote when I
was of legal age. My family instilled the importance of voting in me at a very young age. Although voter turnout
among African Americans is still fairly low, in the 2008 presidential election African Americans had the second
highest voter turnout, behind non Hispanic Caucasians (African Americans, n.d.). Race can influence voter turnout
because with African Americans specifically, although rates are getting better, they are still not high. One factor that
decreases voter turnout is the misconception that a person s vote does not matter. Alienation is a feeling of personal
powerlessness that includes the feeling that the government does not care about individual people. These people
believe that the government will not respond to their concerns even if they do vote. The problem is that a large portion
of the population shares this attitude. People can have negative

Busch Inbev Merger
In May of 2016, The European Commission signed off on Anheuser Busch InBev s more than $100 billion merger
with SABMiller after the companies agreed to sell SABMiller s premium brands in Europe and some other European
operations (Bray). The merging of SABMiller and AB Inbev create the worlds largest beer company accounting for
approximately 30% of beer industry sales (Bray). Margrethe Vestager, the commissioner in charge of European
competition policy defended the decision to allow the merger to go through by stating Today s decision will ensure
that competition is not weakened in these markets and that E.U. consumers are not worse off....Europeans buy around
125 billion euros of beer every year, so even a relatively small price increase could cause considerable harm to
consumers (Bray).
The European Commission believed that allowing the merger was in the best interest of both consumers and for the
beer market itself. I wholeheartedly disagree with that decision. Consolidating firms only decreases competition. John
Colley, associate dean at Warwick Business School agrees, Generally speaking, as industries consolidate down to
fewer players, prices increase because there is less competition... You tend to end up with less choice of products too
(Thomas). There are four major European beer brewers and with this merger two of the largest are now consolidated.
The consolidation significantly increased the number of national markets where the merged entity and the two

Herbert Hoover and Franklin Delano Roosevelt were both Presidents, however, they both had completely opposing
views. President Hoover believed in rugged individualism , where every person looked solely for their personal gain,

government was strong . Hoover did not want to injure the initiative and enterprise of the American people , so when
he took action, it was too late. He created a few relief groups, like the President s Organization for Unemployment

can be analyse through the behavioral evaluation methods and the comparative evaluation methods. The problems that
was created by the PPP were: customer satisfaction, and internal completion, or in the other words, inability to
differentiate between self and other.
Customer satisfaction is a key to any business, because happy customers can lead to more sales and profit. After the
PPP introduced by the Safelite, mangers pushed their technicians to do more jobs and work faster. The technicians
themselves were also work faster too, because they were received higher pay. The management team at Safelite were
asked to install a certain number of glass units per day which caused stores versus each other. These problems as a
whole bring down the customer satisfaction, because technicians tried to do installation as quickly as possible, so this
made a quality problem. For instance, windshields were not properly installed. Although other technicians were
sending to do re installation of the same job with no pay which caused unhappy technician but customers were
unhappy because they should reschedule their time for the same job. In other cases, technicians did not vacuum up the
broken glass in customer s car, so they can rush to the next job.

Exploitation of Imagery in The Dead and Araby by James Joyce
James Joyce, the author of both Araby and The Dead, exploits a sense of imagery throughout both short stories. Araby
and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is
applied to express feelings and expressions from one character to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has
an undying admiration for Mangan s sister. James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast
imagery. The Dead also includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery.
Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension. In The Dead, Gabriel,
the main character, dislikes the country of Ireland he lives in, so he flees. Throughout this, Gabriel describes how
Ireland is boring and cold, displaying kinesthetic imagery. The Dead and Araby both include vivid imagery,
kinesthetic imagery, and auditory imagery.
Vivid imagery can be seen all throughout Araby. Vivid imagery is detailed writing that gives you a sense of an image
while you read. The story begins with North Richmond Street, being blind, was a quiet street and continues to say, An
uninhabited house of two storeys stood at the blind end, detached from its neighbours in a square ground. The other
houses of the street, conscious of decent lives within them, gazed at one another with brown imperturbable faces (
Araby 1019). The way this imagery is used shows

The story tells of a women of the name Hester Prynne who commits adultery with a man who is kept a mystery until
the end of the book, and bears a daughter named Pearl. It follows the lives of the people in Boston, Massachusetts
from the point of the beginning of Pearl s life, to the death of Hester. Though the books tells of the many scenes of
Hester s life, I believe that through it all, Hester Prynne is a heroine and has many traits of being so in this book. I
believe that she is a heroine because she was brave, she was faithful to who she really loved, and she was calm
through it all. Hester Prynne was a heroine because

Crisis Communication Research Paper
Over the past couple of years public safety agencies have discovered the importance of crisis communication;
meaning that communication is key in crisis situations, whether it be the use of social media or building strong
rapport with the public. Understanding that viewing the public as an asset instead of a burden can greatly improve the
overall response in a crisis situation and lessen the burden on public safety professionals.

For example they may broadcast that they are looking for an individual with certain characterises and emphasis for
people to stay away because said individual is dangerous. This allows people to be vigilant of that person and at the

Disadvantages of Social Media
Although social media has improves our rate of communication it is important to remember that it is not flawless. One
example is the age demographic, the older generation might not have twitter or Facebook therefore, will not receive
an agencies emergency post. At the same time the younger generation (8 16 years) might not be interested in police
agencies Facebook pages therefore, they will also not receive an agencies emergency post.
The major flaw in the relationship between social media and police agencies it that they have to establish a
relationship. People have to physically like or follow a certain group on Facebook or Twitter it is not automatic. A vast
majority of people do not do this, for example the population of Edmonton as of 2011 was 812,200 yet the amount of
people who follow the Edmonton police service on Facebook is only 89, 555 which equates to

of the storm, Alcee and Calixta make out and have a sexual intercourse and as the storm stops, Alcee leaves while

Advertising Is A Key Factor
Introduction to advertising
It is clear that advertising is not a new phenomenon, throughout its many forms advertising has not only been around
for decades but for centuries. Advertising however as we know it can be seen to have been developed In the early 18th
century, where by newspapers offered the ability to communicate entire pages of advertisements to the mass market.
Advertising nevertheless is no doubt a powerful tool which adapts the way consumers perceive a product and if pulled
off successfully can be the biggest factor of success.
Approaches to advertising
Simon Broadbent believes that there are 456 theories about what advertising is and how it works (Broadbent, 1992).

(Goddard. A 2002)
In concept, advertising is a mediator of choice, the most key aspect of advertising is that it makes the consumer a
directly active agent in the economic cycle. Today advertising has become a key aspect of the marketing mix; it has
two key mechanisms, information and persuasion. With the mix of these two, the possibilities are endless (Miles, Hart
1993). Advertising works as a direct form of persuasion and come in a variety of different platforms that effectively
influence and affect consumer behaviour.
Although there is more than one theory when it comes to advertisement, most share a common argument that
expresses the importance that advertising brings to a business. Advertising becomes the focal point and the direct link
between businesses and there target market. Advertising does not only account for the sales of a product but in fact
becomes a main factor as to how a business is adapted by consumers. THEORY OF HOW EVERYONE ADAPTS IT

Advertising often requires a substantial amount of funding and this often comes from a large portion of the
operational budget of business. This therefore means that it is highly important to measure the success of an
advertising campaign however this process is not easy. Basu expresses that measuring the success of an advertising

Lab Report On Microbial Unknowns Essay
Microbial Unknowns Objective: In the past couple of weeks, our class received a single broth that contained two
species of bacterium. One bacterium was gram positive and one bacterium was gram negative. We were required to
use our techniques and knowledge we learned in class to separate and identify the two species we were given in our
broths. Methodology: Day One: On the first day of our Biochemical Unknown Lab we were given a tube that
contained broth media which held two different types of bacterium. Once we were given our broths, we had to streak
two Nutrient Agar plates with the mixed culture tube by using a loop. After I streaked my Nutrient Agar plates, I
decided to perform a gram stain. First I flamed the loop and set it aside to cool. After I flamed the loop I prepared two
slides with a drop of water in the middle. Once the loop was cool I dipped the loop into the broth and smeared the
loop onto both slides mixing the unknown bacterium with the water. I flamed my loop, set it aside, heat fixed both
slides, and let the slides air dry. Once the slide were dry I set them on two rods above the drainage area and covered
the smears with Crystal Violet. I let the Crystal Violet sit on the smear for one minute and rinsed off the Crystal
Violet. Once the Crystal Violet was rinsed I applied Grams Iodine and let that sit for one minute. After one minute
passed I rinsed the slide again and moved on to applying the alcohol. I dripped the alcohol onto the slide until the

The Power Of Language
The Power of Language
Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one another. Language
itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show love or hate, and could give meaning. For
example an object has no identification unless the power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its
ability and function. Language often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures
of the Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The Metamorphoses , two pieces
of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew
Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also
believed to be the very first book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek
Mythology, where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things. Both
texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life.
Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects usually appear before
words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and given a meaning. However that does not
seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. In Genesis, God spoke the world into existence. Before

  • 2. Who Is The Husband In Cathedral If Cathedral were to have been told by the wife in the story instead of the husband, I would expect the story to be less skeptical of Robert but not have a point made at the end. The wife has known Roger much longer than her husband. She is also very close with him. The husband seems nervous to have a blind man in his home. He seems skeptical to open his home to the man probably because he does not know what to expect seeing as he has never met a blind person before. The wife would not be nervous because she knows how to help and take care of Robert after being his care takers for a short while. However, the husband s skepticism and premature judgement of Robert is the entire lesson of the story. After not fully welcoming Robert into his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is Mental Health Normal Or Abnormal Mental Health Normal or abnormal. Mental health is described as a state of emotional and psychological well being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life. The impairment of behaviour in psychological and interpersonal disciplines in daily life are some of the aspects that are more likely to be considered as a sign of abnormality. Another aspect of abnormality in society is that when a person contrast in behaviour and intelligence from the majority of people, wether good or bad, is classed under an abnormal behaviour, it is also known as statistical infrequency. One of the well known case emerged in USA, where 58 year old man from USA, remembers up to half the days of his own life in shockingly vivid detail (The Telegraph). He was diagnosed with a condition called hyperthymestia, meaning overdeveloped memory. This rare condition is only discovered in just four people around the world. Another aspect of measuring mental health is deviation from social norms and cultural relativism. For example, homosexuality is still considered as a mental illness or abnormal behaviour in most of the countries, including India and Africa. The two different form of classification systems are widely used to identify the psychological disorders in depth. An International Classification of Diseases 10th edition (ICD 10; World Health Organization, 1992) and the Diagnostic and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. First Component Of My Observation Assignment On March 18, 2017, I began the first component of my observation assignment. In contemplating where I was to do my observation, I wanted to find a location with a lot of people, a location that was indoors, and a location that would provide me with a wide point of observation that would allow me to peacefully and conspicuously observe people while taking notes in my notebook. As a result, I decided on the second floor above the lounge area in the Santa Anita mall, located in Arcadia, CA, on a Saturday afternoon. Prior to beginning my observation, I did not expect to be nervous, but as soon as I parked in the parking lot and began making my way to my observation point with my notebook and pens clenched in my hand, feelings of nervousness ... This type of playing the part leads into the sociological theory known as Dramaturgy. Dramaturgy was first theorized by Erving Goffman. Goffman believed that people conduct themselves differently in different situations to appear in some way that is advantageous, kind of like actors playing different characters in films. For instance, there was a group of teenagers who were taking lots of pictures with each other. However, one boy was just off to the side calmly looking at his friends. After a few minutes of this, his attitude completely changed, and he jumped into one of the pictures with his friends and began taking more pictures. After they all took pictures, they all left to another part of the mall, and this boy returned back to his calm self. This was a perfect example of someone who was playing the part of appearing more social even though he may not have actually felt that way. In addition, usually at in door stores and restaurants, dogs, or other pets, are not allowed because they can be messy or impact people s enjoyment. The word Eco is the short form of ecology. Ecological studies probe into the attitude of humans towards nature. In Indian fictions some authors use ecological concept as the centre and some takes it as secondary. Ecocritical readings of canonical texts, the, begin by adding a different perspective, and are not limited to works self evidently about nature (Barry 250). In Indian fiction there are not many novels that deal with the theme of ecocriticism. • 15. Mass Migration to America During the 19th Century This essay will address the reasons as to why there was mass migration to the United States of America during the nineteenth century. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. With all of this considered, this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard in the decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America. In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the century, and the later half of the century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton, ... • 16. An Experiment to Prove the Need for Light in Photosynthesis In conclusion to my investigation light is definitely needed and is important in the process of photosynthesis. Light is not only important in the light dependant stage but the light independent stage wouldn t occur without light because light is changed from light energy to chemical potential energy and is carried out through the ATP and NADPH which takes the energy to the Calvin stage where that energy is used to make other organic compounds that we may be able to use like glucose. I also learned that light helps in the breaking down process of chemical compounds and without light, there is no photosynthesis and that means not oxygen for respiration for organisms. Without light, since it s a limiting factor, and photosynthesis does not occur the whole earth would be affected, there would be more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere causing global warming, there is a knock on effect of how the Earth would be affected if there was no light for photosynthesis. Light is a very important Article 1: Light is needed in the first stage which is called the light dependent stage. Light is absorbed in the leaf, also called the lamina, because it has a greater surface area and has more chloroplast where you find chlorophyll which absorbs the light. This raw factor is very limiting to this process, without it photosynthesis will not happen, even if you increase the amount of carbon dioxide and temperature it still won t occur. And if we do share Emerson s spirituality, we also share his category of mistakes, the confusion of the logical relationship between good and evil with the possibility that good deeds or characters may emerge in response to evil experiences. Later, Santayana concludes that Emerson is optimistic in regards to his nature, his form of life, or his character rather than his thought. Although Emerson thinks he is making a critical point, actually it is his gratuitous affection for any and all things natural, in other words, his way of living rather than a theory or ways of thinking. Emerson s optimism is something that has to be shown or exemplified biographically, not vindicated metaphysically or epistemologically. In conclusion, Santayana believes Transcendentalists think nature is a product of the mind, and without the mind nature would not exist. Both Calvinism and Transcendentalism were beginnings to a presented belief. In order to categorize one as such, Santayana describes the mind to be distressed, and have other radical subjective criticism of knowledge. In page 24 in the book it states, A cold knot of dread settled in Piper s stomach. Isn t he with you? That sentence would show Piper feeling fear or dread , when she realized that Micah was missing. This is giving me the idea that the emotion that Piper is feeling, is going to change the way the author writes the book, like when the author used a cold knot of dread. That would show, since Piper is feeling fear, the author includes more descriptive language that in other parts of the novel. Another emotion change Piper had earlier in the book was in page 112, Piper s stomach clenched when she heard those words. That would show Piper feeling uneasy, or scared which ... The author might have also included this in order to have Piper be more brave throughout the rest of the book, which would eventually help her win her battle against Doloman. Another emotion change was in page 207 when it said, Let it go. Piper advised, pulling Anna toward another chair. This would support the last emotion of standing up and not letting others bring you down, which could possibly lead up to a theme. DNA In Crime Scene Investigation Nowadays, DNA is a crucial component of a crime scene investigation, used to both to identify perpetrators from crime scenes and to determine a suspect s guilt or innocence (Butler, 2005). The method of constructing a distinctive fingerprint from an individual s DNA was first described by Alec Jeffreys in 1985. He discovered regions of repetitions of nucleotides inherent in DNA strands that differed from person to person (now known as variable number of tandem repeats, or VNTRs), and developed a technique to adjust the length variation into a definitive identity marker (Butler, 2005). Since then, DNA fingerprinting has been refined to be an indispensible source of evidence, expanded into multiple methods befitting different types of DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each person inherits two copies of these markers from his or her mother and father, so a higher similarity denotes a closer biological relationship. The probability of two samples matching is around one in a billion (dna.gov). DNA profiles are compiled by using gel or capillary electrophoresis to separate samples into a pattern distinctive of the subject s DNA based on ionic charge, size, or mobility. Usually, samples in the database are searched at moderate stringency, which requires that all alleles between the two samples match, but the number of alleles can vary, accounting for DNA contamination or degradation. Partial, or candidate, matches are samples that have a similar number of alleles in the forensic profile but are not exact, and are used in familial DNA searching to find close biological relatives of the original forensic profile. Other evidence is used to determine relatives, including Y chromosome analysis, which traces family relationships based on the fact that the Y chromosome is transmitted directly between a father and his sons; age; and geographic location. The process is based on the principle that first order relatives have closer DNA profiles than unrelated individuals, and also on the sociological assumption that criminal tendencies appear in families; according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics Correctional Populations ... • 25. Police Brutality Of Police Officers Recently police have come under fire for the deaths of many unarmed African American males. This has broken the trust between civilians and police and torn our country apart. People are frustrated about the killings of unarmed citizens and how it seems every officer can get away with killing an unarmed suspect. Back in 1994 a law was passed that required the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to record date on police involved shooting and deaths by police officers. Except where are the numbers that would show there is an increase in unarmed African American deaths from police officers? The 1994 law requires the FBI to keep record of police shootings across the United States. However, the only police shooting records that could be found on the FBI website was Justified Homicide From on Duty Officers from 2008 2012 . So the question becomes where is the data that proves there is an increase in African American deaths by the hands of police officers. With the recent outcry of Police Brutality you would think that the FBI would ve released records or started recording any and all police shootings. Experts say that we aren t experiencing an increase in police shootings just an increase in media coverage of police shootings. Elections specifically are supposed to encourage public participation in the selection of governmental officials. The Freedom Riders rode through the South, enduring harassment and imprisonment to encourage other African Americans to vote. Voter turnout in African American communities is greatly encouraged. Personally, coming from an African American family, I was strongly encouraged by my parents and grandparents to vote when I was of legal age. My family instilled the importance of voting in me at a very young age. Although voter turnout among African Americans is still fairly low, in the 2008 presidential election African Americans had the second highest voter turnout, behind non Hispanic Caucasians (African Americans, n.d.). Race can influence voter turnout because with African Americans specifically, although rates are getting better, they are still not high. One factor that decreases voter turnout is the misconception that a person s vote does not matter. Alienation is a feeling of personal powerlessness that includes the feeling that the government does not care about individual people. These people believe that the government will not respond to their concerns even if they do vote. The problem is that a large portion of the population shares this attitude. Araby and The Dead both share and differ from each other in the ways the imagery is shown. The vivid imagery in Araby is applied to express feelings and expressions from one character to another. The main character, an unnamed boy, has an undying admiration for Mangan s sister. James Joyce describes the boy s obsession with Mangan s sister in vast imagery. The Dead also includes many senses of imagery, but shows kinesthetic imagery rather than vivid imagery. Kinesthetic imagery is an imagery that is portrayed through the movement and physical tension.
