Her Movie Relationships
Her is a movie about the story of a man, Theodore, who falls in love with his artificially intelligent
operating system, Samantha. The movie shows how a relationship began, grew and ended between a
man and an operating system. This type of relationship is rare, furthermore, there is no artificial
intelligence that is in the same stage of intelligence as Samantha. Nonetheless, the relationship
between the two raises questions as to how genuine and true the relationship is. Before beginning to
analyze the relationship between Theodore and Samantha, there are other real stories that could help
better understand the type of relationship Theodore and Samantha had.
Jack and Oskar were two twin brothers who were separated a little after birth due to their parent s
separation. Jack grew up with his Jewish father and his family while Oskar grew up with his mother
and her German family. Oskar attended a Nazi run school and later joined a Hitler youth, ... Show

Schifferstadt Historical Site
It is simple to overlook a historical site or museum when it is in your local area and pass it on the
daily. Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is the historical site I continually disregarded until I had a
class trip there, it is less than a half mile away from school and I always pass it driving home, it is
bizarre that I have never visited there before the trip. Schifferstadt is located directly off of route 15
North on Rosemont avenue, it is a colonial German stone house that was built in 1758 by the Brunner
family. The historical site is currently owned by the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation, and has
been since 1974. The site is different than some typical lager museums, there are no self led tours,
only docents tour individuals and groups throughout the house. The staff was extremely helpful,
insightful, and friendly and the tour was well put together and tremendously informational. There are a
few flaws that I detected throughout the visit, however, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our docent was extremely information and always had an answer to ever question someone asked.
Docents with the ability to absorbed knowledge from guests and from the actual historical site are the
most helpful for tours. I felt as if the docents were very well trained and extremely kind. Even though
the actual Brunner house is not very large and does not house many artifacts there is so much
information to learn. Some of the programs and special events that Shifferstadt offers are 3rd and 4th
grader lesson plans, gests speakers, Oktoberfest, museums by candlelight, and many more. All of these
events help raise awareness of Shifferstadt, and also the preservation of historical sites in Frederick.
Small house museums normally do not have much advertisement in the local area, and even state
wide, this can conclude the small amount of visitors at

Maple Syrup Urine Disease Analysis

Maple Syrup Urine disease
Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by deficiency of certain
enzymes (branched chain alpha keto acid dehydrogenase complex) required to break down
(metabolize) specific amino acids in the body.(WebMD, 2015)
History
MSUD was first brought up by a pediatrician by John Menkes in 1954. He first noticed it by observing
a family that happened to have several cases of MSUD. In the study he had lost four babies within
three months. Physicians and biochemists both worked as a pair to define this inborn error of
metabolism. In history these problems in nature acted as a tool for investors as a genetic tool to tell us
unknown pathways and why MSUD is used as this role for BCAA(in ... Show more content on

The odor is caused when someone is not able to metabolize the branched chain a ketoacid (BCKA).
This problem happens because of their branch chain amino acids (BCAA); leucine, isoleucine, and
valine.
Other Problems Associated With Maple Syrup Urine Disease(Diet) Leucine is not a good acid to to
have while having MSUD, but it is a necessary amino acid that you need to have. It is the most toxic
of the BCAA and it is in foods in higher percentages than valine or isoleucine. Every patient is
different so their tolerance of leucine has to be calculated to follow the measurement of BCAA levels.
Then it has to be remeasured at the correct intervals for the first six to 12 months. (Diet.com, 2004)
Risk Factors The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) says that MSUD happens to
males and females at the same rate. The risk of having any form of MSUD depends if your parents
have this disorder or not. If both of the parents have the disorder, each child has a 25 percent chance of
getting two mutated genes and getting MSUD, the child would have a 50 percent chance from getting
one normal gene from each parent. The parent or parents are not able to pass on the gene to their
children if they have two normal genes for MSUD. (Healthline,

High School Drum Research Paper
For the last ten years, drums have been ringing in my ears. When I started I was a little bored out
because I only knew basic beats, until middle school. I don t know how but I got into heavy metal,
with the band named Avenged Sevenfold . The drummer was phenomenal, so I was inspired to get
behind the drumset and learn the songs. So I would consider myself a self taught drummer.
When sophomore year of started, I got into a heavy punk band named Infadel . They didn t care how
old I was, it was the skill they were looking for. A few practices, and I lost interest because it was
repetitive for every song, and I ending up quitting. The reason I loved metal is because the
instrumentals and the melodies, but this band was just power and screaming. Then junior year came,
and the band contacted me and said We found a person who is the same age and skill level as you, you
should meet him, and make your own band and music! So I gave it a shot, and it was great. Except for
the alcohol and drugs which I would always refuse, I told the band I only in for the music. But busy

leader for that school band, I hold responsibilities and I want to keep those responsibilities coming
back as an alumni. Since I always am on most people s case when they play to point things out to
them, the band knows my name, and knows why I love this class. I love to teach younger students so
they can pick up a new hobby and hopefully pursue it. I used to see myself to be a famous drummer in
like a heavy metal band in the future, but I see a brighter future teaching and doing what I love. Music
is what pushes me and entertains me no matter what the genre or style it is. It is a beautiful sight to see

The Englewood Board Of Education Meeting
The Englewood Board of Education meeting took place at the Grieco Elementary School in
Englewood, NJ. On March 17, 2016 and began promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria. The board is
made up of nine board members all sitting at a long table with the President of the board, Mr. Devry
Pazant who sat at the center of the table beside the newly appointed Superintendent, Mr. Robert
Kravitz.
I think it is important to point out a little background information on the Englewood School Board. I
have attended several of the school board meetings over the past three years and have witnessed a lot
of bitterness and dissatisfaction among the board members and attendees. It stems from a history of
inequities in the school system and a separation of high school and an Academy program that appears
to receive a large operating budget and administrative support on the same campus. With that said
there are members on the board who have children in the Academy program who have a vested
interest in the success of the program over what is best for all the students who attend the high school
or the program.
The Board President called the meeting to order, and the board secretary did the roll call. The agenda
was comprised of various reports and the secretary would go though each agenda item, beginning with
the board secretary s report, finance, personnel, listing of approvals for salaries that included names of
staff/faculty, retirements, leave of absences, bills, travel, field trips, etc.

The Effect Of Bovine Growth Hormone Injections On Cows
According to Purdue University the United States is responsible for the production of over 20 billion
gallons of milk per year. This milk is either pasteurized and sold or further manufactured into other
forms of dairy such as cream cheese or ice cream. Many Americans have an unrealistic dream of
where their milk is produced; a grassy farm where the cows are able to roam freely and be milked by
hand. However, this is not the reality in America. Today, most dairy farms use machinery to milk their
cows and often leave them in cramped spaces. In order to increase the amount of milk a cow produces,
farmers have started to treat their cows with bovine growth hormone. Because of this practice many
arguments have come up to stop the use of Bovine Growth Hormone injections in cows. This is due to
the alleged side effects this milk is said to produce; for example cancer or antibiotic insensitivity. This
leaves anyone who drinks milk is potentially susceptible to these effects. The FDA gives details of the
biology of Bovine Growth Hormone. Bovine Growth Hormone is naturally found in all animals,
including humans, and enhances growth, development and health maintenance. It was discovered that
by injecting cows with the hormone, found in the pituitary gland, then their milk production would
increase. In the 1980 s it became possible to mass produce the hormone. Monsanto, Eli Lilly, Upjohn,
and American Cyanamid are the four companies that marketed bovine growth hormone. Monsanto

The Shared Frame of Reference suggested by Willbur Schramm model is integrated with social media
because it offers consumers to share their experience in the communication process. Calder and
Malthouse (2005) supports that everything that influence the customer s experience is a potential
marketing vehicle. Therefore, in order to illustrate the theory of social media marketing in context of
organization, this paper will look at the impact of social media marketing in Dell Corporation in the
United States.
5. Dell Business Model The founder of Dell Computer Incorporation is Michael Dell in 1984. Dell s
primary products are personal and office computers and business of Dell also engages in other
products such as printers and software. A feature that determines PC companies such as Dell to
manage their products is through standardization of PCs. The main benefit of standardization is that it
helps Dell to reduce the cost of productions. However, when Dell adopted standardization strategy, it
made Dell more generic with other PCs companies such as IBM, Compact and Hewlett Packard since
most of PCs companies had access to the same suppliers such as Intel and Microsoft.
Therefore, Dell started a new direct business model based on customization approach that enables
computers or laptops to be produced according to customers requirements in order to be more
competitive. However, standardization approached has still remained in Dell s business model. The

In the event that management s view is one that is pessimistic, the maximin rule would apply. BioMed
would set production at 342 units of production in order to minimize the maximum worst payoff
which is this case, is a loss of $249.
Management should be aware that both of the above options fail to consider any of the good or bad
outcomes.
BioMed management may also consider applying the minimax regret rule. Under this rule,
management would make a decision with the minimum worst potential regret by identifying the
maximum possible potential regret for each decision. In this case, production would be set at 407 units
yielding a maximum possible regret of $1,526.
This report provides a clear recommendation for average daily production capacity for the next 12
months. The analysis and various decision rules will assist management to provide a direction that will
enable the best outcome when faced with uncertainty when combined with the risk tolerance.

had been the only time where she felt wanted by him. He had focused all of his attention on her, which

her life that affected her the most surrounding the various discoveries she has made. In the story her
strong feelings of who and who not to trust are shown later on in the novel.
Anil s life takes her to Colombo where her work has her partnered with Sarath Diaysena. He has been
asked by the government to help Anil identify skeletons. Her interactions with Sarath create questions
of trust in her mind. Anil becomes suspicious of Sarath after a discussion with his landlord about
Sarath s wife. Sarath explained that his marriage had ended in tragedy with his wife s death. As Sarath
uncovers mysteries that are a result of violence, more mysteries cloud around his personal life. From
experience, part of his distrusting and odd behavior came from the unexpected death of his beloved
wife, who also held a small secret. At the time of the erupting conflicts, she committed suicide.

A review of literature was done and then based on the research; a survey was conducted to find out
what factors contribute to classroom teachers use of computers in instruction. Two previously tested
instruments that were used in large scale surveys were used to develop this survey. Validity and
reliability were established through the piloting procedures of Tailored Design Method (Franklin,
2007). A modified pilot study or pretest was done by experts in education, research, and technology.
According to Lodico, Spaulding, and Voegtle (2010) any survey should be pilot tested with a small
group that was similar to the actual participants. The quantitative design used was correlation. This
study was a prediction study. The criterion variable was how much and in what ways teachers used
computers. The predictor variables were the factors of leadership, time, and access and availability
(Franklin, 2007). A five step process was used to collect the data. There were four contacts by first
class mail and the final contact was made by priority mail. According to the article, inferential and
descriptive statistics were used in this study. Data was put into a statistical software program where
the frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations for each survey question were computed
and then reported in tables. Multiple correlations were computed and tested for significance (Franklin,

). Another myth is that Latin America is behind the U.S. However, government power and initiatives
have also disproved this. While the U.S. has never had a female president or even vice president, four
Latin American countries have female leaders: Brazil s Dilma Roussef, Costa Rica s Laura Chinchilla,
Argentina s Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Chile s Michelle Bachelet. (Weiss, L., 2014). Another
stereotype is that immigrants are taking money away from the United States. Despite the speculation
about the financial cost of immigrants, Norris Tirrell (2002) reported that immigrants cost Florida a

they are not believed to be Latino which can be very painful as it looks to erase their Latin roots.

Blue Collar Work Essay
Mishal Atiqur Due to technology advancing, the Western World has changed its industrial workforce
into more of a technological one. In this new work environment, service (white collar) workers have
become more valued than labor (blue collar) workers. Overtime, Western cultures have created an
assumption that service workers typically have higher paying salaries, higher statuses, and more
demanding positions when compared to labor workers. On the other hand, labor workers are labeled as
uneducated, unskillful, and lower in status. Because of these assumptions, people lean towards an

Alan Chalmers s Theory Of Scientific Knowledge
Falsification in Science the Hypothetico deductive method
Scientific knowledge is proven knowledge. Scientific theories are derived in some rigorous way from
the facts of experience acquired by observation and experiment. Science is based on what we can see
and hear and touch, etc. Personal opinion or preferences and speculative imaginings have no place in
science. Science is objective. Scientific knowledge is reliable knowledge because it is objectively
proven knowledge.
Alan Chalmers, What Is This Thing Called Science?, 1982, p.1.
Chalmers represents the traditional inductivist view with his statement on science. An inductivist
makes observations, then creates a general statement that aims to explain the encountered
phenomenon. However, Karl Popper, another scientific philosopher, has completely rejected this
scientific method and has argued against the sole use of induction when conducting scientific research.
Unsatisfied with Chalmers method, and the traditional inductive method in general, he instead made
his own version of the scientific method, dubbed the hypothetico deductive method . These two
scientific methods contrast each other, and to demonstrate their difference Chalmers statement will be
evaluated using the typical view of one who subscribes to Popper s hypothetico deductive method of
falsification. I will then evaluate the two methods, commenting on their individual limitations and
merits.

organizational values. (Dayton Business Journal website, 2002, para 1) Therefore, the Hearthside can
be said to have a strong organizational culture. This is demonstrated through the employee s
dedication to the same goal of providing quality service. This can be seen through Gail as she
attempted to provide extra croutons on the salad, waitresses using tip money to provide a customer
with a meal, the cooks cooking the food in a quality way and having the food out on time, and even
the dishwashers taking some sort of pride in accomplishing the dishes in a timely matter. Ironically the
biggest detriment to providing quality service at the Hearthside was management and their stingy
policies, which demand a mandated amount of sour cream or croutons. The identity of the Hearthside
is a difficult one to define and discuss because Ehrenreich doesn t provide us with much information
about their advertising, logos, or mission statements, but from what the book indicates Hearthside can
identify as a family restaurant . This identity can be shown through the type of clientele. ( The
plurality of my customers are hardworking locals truck drivers, construction workers, even
housekeepers from the attached hotel. Ehrenreich pg. 19) The Hearthside adds to their

Alinsky s Rules For Radicals Analysis
Alinsky s rules for radicals were written by Saul Alinsky in 1972. The rules were created to develop a
process for organization. Alinsky s rules were broken into two different types, tactics with 13 rules and
ends and means with 11 rules. The four rules I chose to discuss were from the tactics list of rules.
Alinsky s rules for radicals are applicable in many ways and also are somewhat biased. The first rule I
chose was the seventh rule of tactics, Alinsky states, A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a
drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues. . I agree with the purpose of
this rule because people need variety in an organization or else they get bored. People need any kind
of variations of work that they can get within an organization over a prolonged period of time in order
to stay productive and efficient. Variation also allows for the members of an organization to gain
additional experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with this rule because we, as human beings, are prone to over complicate a simple situation.
For example, we look at a situation, we then get overwhelmed by it, then, when the situation is over,
we feel as though we shouldn t have been worried about the situation at all. A Biblical example of this
tactic is in Genesis 3, starting in verse 1 by saying Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the
wild animals that the Lord God made and finishing in verse 15 by the Lord saying to the serpent He
will strike your head and you will strike his heel (HCSB). At first, the serpents description makes him
seem very intimidating but within the same chapter the serpent was told how he will meet his ends,
which discredits any prior intimidation that the serpent had. This tactic is true for all organizations
because despite how difficult a challenge may seem, people are more than likely willing to help if they

Aerial Ethnographic Research
The cultural myths within this concrete jungle are prominent in this picture; and like most cultural
myths, the reality is far more complicated than these ideology have made it seem. While the immense
complexity of this society cannot be captured in a single image, this photo of Central Park and the
outlying city shows us the cultural features that are not visible or not obvious from ground level. The
rigid geometric shapes and lines of the buildings blur together to form a vast expanse of buildings that
extends toward the outer edges of the photograph and the enormity of it all hints at the rich culture that
resides within. It is simple to see how the city became known for being a melting pot demographic
with its tightly packed structures. The tremendous culture as well as the cityscape seem to burst out of
the picture and the sizable towers on the right seem to reach improbable heights. Similar to aerial
photography itself, when the essence of what you want to capture ... Show more content on

Historically, aerial imaging was used for many different task such as map making, archeology, war
strategizing, and environmental studies just to name a few. Accordingly, aerial images give a broad
overview of the world and correspondingly provide an insight into human history and human culture.
In particular, this image of New York places the vast amount activity that takes place into one
framework; this gives us some insight into understanding the urban development that has occurred
over the past four centuries, since the land was sold. Over the centuries, New York has grown
immensely in population and in urban structures. Compared to the best aerial images we have of New
York from the past, this photo is incredible in its overlying density of its buildings that appear to blend
together in various shades of blue, red, and

Romeo And Juliet s Tragedy
Romeo and Juliet s Tragedy Tragedy is an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress. The
shocking love story of Romeo and Juliet ended with two teens hasty decisions to commit suicide.
William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, focused on the love story of two
teenagers, Romeo and Juliet. For they thought death was the only option, death they chose, but they
thought wrong. Like many others in life, if only Romeo and Juliet had pondered a little longer, waited
till their feelings of desperation dispersed, the tale of Romeo and Juliet could have ended with a
different story. In the moment that Juliet finds out Romeo is dead, she is frozen with shock. With the
lines Juliet says, she proves she made rash and impulsive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a situation where the decision is big and will have a huge impact on life, the decision must be made
with careful and cautious thinking. It is also important to think with a clear mind to be able to
rationally think about the possibilities of each and every choice. Your emotions can point you in a
direction that might not always be leading you to the best choice, says Frank (Heiman 1). Emotions
are factors that might not point in the right direction. At the moment, everything will feel all right until
later on, when the emotions have changed, there will be regrets. It s important to look for the best
possible option instead of settling in with a just okay . . . . they re [teens are] taxing a system that isn t
fully developed, Aguirre says. No wonder some are unable to handle it, and find themselves
overwhelmed (Maclean 1). Because they are teens, their brains aren t fully developed yet. Romeo and
Juliet were not able to handle the stress and weren t able to stand it. Instead of taking the time to sort
out their emotions, they jumped off a cliff without a parachute. The short lives of Romeo and Juliet
could have been prevented if they and those around Romeo and Juliet were able to make decisions
more wisely. Romeo and Juliet made bad decisions like real people. The story shocked many, but very
accurate to real life. As life continues on, many will learn from the story of Romeo and Juliet that
decisions shouldn t be rushed and that they need to be considered from all sides. Nevertheless, the
story of Romeo and Juliet will always be a masterpiece with detailed and realisticrealitistic characters

Enzymes
Enzymes in detergent
1) What enzymes are used to make this product?
There are essentially six main enzymes involved in detergent, specifically amylases, proteases, lipases,
pectinases, cellulases, and mannanases. Each of these enzymes are responsible for targeting stains
containing specific macromolecules like carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.
2) What type of reactions do the enzymes catalyze, and why is this of value?
Amylases are typically responsible for catalysing the breakdown of starches which can be of value in
removing the stains of foods such as cereals, pastas, and gravies. The enzyme hydrolyses the bonds
within the starch molecule which decomposes it into dextrins and other oligosaccharides, which are
soluble and can easily be removed in the wash. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the source of two types of proteases are Bacillus alcalophilus and Bacillus lentus. The
most common sources of amylases are the bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, and
Bacillus licheniformis. On the other hand, lipases are currently being sourced from yeast, bacteria,
fungus, and from mammals. Biotex is the main source of cellulases, and have been in use since 1987.
4) Have the enzymes been modified for the process?
One example of enzyme modification for its use in detergents are cellulases. This enzyme which is
used to maintain the quality and brightness of clothing can be chemically modified to have a greater
stability when used in an alkaline medium. This is done by exposing the cellulases to certain reagents
like malcic anhydride. Another example of a modified enzyme would be the alkaline protease, which
replaced the endogenous protease. This enzyme was derived from an alkalophilic strain of bacteria
called Bacillus cereus, and is currently being used due to its stability at higher water temperatures.

Utilize These Tips To Get The Cheapest Auto Insurance
The general concept of finding out about auto protection will make a few individuals begin sweating
apprehensively. Truly the more you know the less befuddling it turns out to be, much the same as
whatever else in life.
When you are driving out and about, ensure that you comply with as far as possible. There is no
motivation to get pointless tickets, which can cost you a ton of cash and raise your protection rates
throughout the year. Drive securely on the off chance that you need to expand your money within
reach.

Protection for games autos is commonly more costly on the grounds that these autos have a high
burglary rate and poor crash execution. Notwithstanding, it pays to search around in light of the fact
that diverse protection organizations have distinctive techniques for choosing what characterizes a
games auto. While any little, quick auto with two entryways is for the most part considered a games
auto, the inquiry gets trickier with regards to four entryway autos. Because one office characterizes
your vehicle as a games auto doesn t mean the following one will do

Self-Esteem And Self Esteemcy
Build their self esteem, self determination and efficacy
From the different challenges identified, it was established that adolescent girls were often confronted
with many identity conflicts and low self esteem. It was during the adolescent stage that many girls
experience new societal expectations and responsibilities, which often resulted in identity confusion or
internal conflict that needed to be resolved during adolescence. Consequently, the best ways of
engaging girls were to first build their self esteem, self determination, self efficacy and confidence.
According to Powell (2004), by being supportive and giving tasks and challenges that raise self
esteem, adolescent girls may be able to have success in school and develop self motivation. Powell
(2004) stressed the need for supportive environments and the need to allow adolescents to develop
their own unique identities. According to Erickson (1968), adolescents were often at the fifth
psychosocial stage of human development. This stage was called Identity versus Identity Confusion.
According to Erickson, if adolescents were not allowed to explore their new roles and follow a future
positive path, they may remain confused about their identity. Resolving conflicts during adolescence,
according to Erickson, assists adolescents to become who they would be, unique individual,
progressing further into higher developmental stages. Erickson noted that for adolescents to become
autonomous, their self concept and self esteem

Why I Want To Understand The Brain By Anne Sexton
Sexton s poem allowed me to understand what it must feel like to live with a mental illness such as
depression. I was quite frightened to find that Sexton constantly wanted to kill herself. Her
confessional style of poetry allowed me to understand that this type of mental illness is a reality for
people. The way in which Anne Sexton describes her desire for death, allowed me to understand the
power depression held on her mind and body. The need to end her life must have meant that dying
outweighed any need to live. Anne Sexton had two children and I am shocked she would abandon
these two children for an escape from the world. I realised Sexton s drive to kill herself was greater
than the love for her own family. Even though it was selfish of

My Life At The United States Essay
I retired at age 65, my wife said: you re not going to retire, and I said: I m leaving, if you want, you
can stay in the business alone. She decided she didn t want to stay alone so she retired with me. We
are international travelers, we travel all the time. We have a beautiful house, we have a beautiful life.
We are healthy. I ve been all over the world in the past ten years, China, Cambodia, New Zealand,
Laos, Tibet, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Alaska, all throughout South America, Rome, Holland. In June,
we re leaving to Serbia and to the Baltics. We go to Israel almost every year and go on big
international trips about twice a year. We travel locally often, to Vegas, Maryland to visit our daughter
, and New York. When we re not traveling, we babysit our grandchildren, being a grandparent is my
job now. When their parents go away, they hire a babysitter but we check on them every day. We take
them out for dinner or pizza so they re happy. We also still have real estate, we still manage the
properties; my wife is the book keeper for the buildings we own. I take care of my flowers, I have a
large garden at home; I love gardening I learned on the Kibbutz, when I worked in the field. Over the
years, we ve bought and sold various buildings but owning rental properties has been a steady part of
our lives. We never stop working, not hard physically, but we are busy. I go talk about the Holocaust at
my granddaughter s school once a year the girls are happy because they get to miss

Enron Essay
As Bethany McLean and Peter Elkind portray in The Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise
and Scandalous Fall of Enron, there was a chain reaction of events and a hole that dug deeper with
time in the life span of, at one time the world s 7th largest corporation, Enron. The events were
formulated by an equation with many factors: arbitrary accounting practices, Wall Street s evolving
nature and Enron s lack of successful business plans combined with, what Jeff Skilling, CEO of
Enron, believed was the most natural of human characteristics, greed. This formula resulted in fraud,
deceit, and ultimately the rise and fall of Enron.
Kenneth Lay created Enron in 1985 as a result of the merger of Houston Natural Gas and Internorth.

Next came California s rolling blackouts caused by Enron s traders. By turning the power off and on
in California, they could control the price of electricity, essentially stealing people s money. Because
they could manipulate the price, they made hefty bets on it, and in turn made over $2 billion dollars
for Enron. Just before the fall of Enron, the insiders sold off nearly $1 billion dollars prior to the
annunciation of the bankruptcy of Enron. What caused so many executives and employees to behave
in such a fraudulent way? As Skilling put it, the biggest motivator for humans is money. Enron s
executives received large quantities of stock options, motivating them to manipulate earnings which
would cause an increase in the stock price. The nature of Enron s executives also played a big role in
influencing employees to display similar characteristics of aggression, arrogance, greed and
dishonesty. Executives at Enron were known to take extreme dirt biking trips to places like Mexico,
where they could dangerously travel 1200 miles of rugged terrain. Stories of broken bones, stitches
and flipping jeeps became legendary at Enron, and fed the macho personality of the employees. Top
management gave its managers blank orders, to just do it (60). In turn, employees attempted to not
only crush outsiders, but eachother. Skilling encouraged this behavior, saying he wanted them to

The Driverless Car
The most innovative item in the google toolbox is the driverless car. The term driverless seems to
leave one with the impression that a car is spinning around in the streets. The driver is not a human
being it is a computer. That in its own tittle would be just as common as a washing machine washing
clothes without a operator. Technology today is aimed at getting rid of the human being. This is done
not always in the sake of cost. Sometimes it is done for the advancement of technology. This self
driving car technology is a very hot item for the industry. Making this technology become a reality can
be accomplished in my life time. From the lab to the street is almost complete. This technology was

Essay On Post Test
Pretest, Posttest, Interview Questions:
The pre test (Show What You Know) and post test (Show What You Have Learned) that I designed
had similar questions to what the students were going to see within the lesson. When giving them the
pre test a few students got neverous but I assured them that this is for my own information so I can
better teach everyone. I told them to all at least try and answer the questions to the best of their ability.
Both the pre test and post test are attached at the end of the lesson. The following are the results of the
pre test and post test. Students coded in green increased from pre to post test, students in yellow
remained the same, students in red lost points from pre to post test. The two students with an asterisk
are the interviewed students.
After careful consideration and a conversation with my host teacher, I chose to interview Z.D. as my
student at a higher mathematical level and D. W. as my student at a lower mathematical level.
Although, Z. D. s score went down from the pre test to the post test, his work showed that his
mathematical understanding increased due to the lesson. He only lost points on providing his answers
in simplest form, meaning he needs practice on reducing fractions. I chose D.W. because he is
struggling in the class but did show improvement from pre to post test. It is important to note that
D.W. is currently being tested for special education after being in tier three instruction for math and

Basic Instructions For Knitting All Animals
Basic Instructions for Knitting All Animals
Heads and Tails
No matter which animal you re making, the basic leg and body patterns and assembly instructions are
the same. You ll find these patterns and instructions on the next pages of this document.
The head, tail, and details are what make each animal distinct and different. These patterns and
instructions as well as optional changes for the legs and bodies are found in the specific animal
instruction pages in a separate document.
Materials and Tools
The great thing about making these animals is that you re free to use whatever colors and sizes of yarn
that you already have on hand, or that fit the needles you already own. Larger yarns and needles make
larger animals.
There are only two rules regarding the materials and tools you should use:
 Use a similar weight of yarn for the entire animal.
 Use knitting needles at least two sizes smaller than those recommended for the yarn you want to
use. This makes the stitches tighter so they don t stretch and show the stuffing.
Basics
The general instructions for all animals are:
 Work in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side) unless otherwise noted.
 Patterns show only rows with increases, decreases, or color changes. When a row isn t shown on a
pattern, continue in stockinette stitch without any changes from the previous row.
 When casting on and binding off, leave enough yarn to sew seams with later.
 Head, tail, and detail

Maple Syrup Urine Disease Analysis 160030 Maple Syrup Urine disease Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by deficiency of certain enzymes (branched chain alpha keto acid dehydrogenase complex) required to break down (metabolize) specific amino acids in the body.(WebMD, 2015) History MSUD was first brought up by a pediatrician by John Menkes in 1954. He first noticed it by observing a family that happened to have several cases of MSUD. In the study he had lost four babies within three months. Physicians and biochemists both worked as a pair to define this inborn error of metabolism. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The odor is caused when someone is not able to metabolize the branched chain a ketoacid (BCKA). This problem happens because of their branch chain amino acids (BCAA); leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Other Problems Associated With Maple Syrup Urine Disease(Diet) Leucine is not a good acid to to have while having MSUD, but it is a necessary amino acid that you need to have. It is the most toxic of the BCAA and it is in foods in higher percentages than valine or isoleucine. Every patient is different so their tolerance of leucine has to be calculated to follow the measurement of BCAA levels. Then it has to be remeasured at the correct intervals for the first six to 12 months. (Diet.com, 2004) Risk Factors The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) says that MSUD happens to males and females at the same rate. The risk of having any form of MSUD depends if your parents have this disorder or not. If both of the parents have the disorder, each child has a 25 percent chance of getting two mutated genes and getting MSUD, the child would have a 50 percent chance from getting one normal gene from each parent. The parent or parents are not able to pass on the gene to their children if they have two normal genes for MSUD. (Healthline, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think it is important to point out a little background information on the Englewood School Board. I have attended several of the school board meetings over the past three years and have witnessed a lot of bitterness and dissatisfaction among the board members and attendees. It stems from a history of inequities in the school system and a separation of high school and an Academy program that appears to receive a large operating budget and administrative support on the same campus. With that said there are members on the board who have children in the Academy program who have a vested interest in the success of the program over what is best for all the students who attend the high school or the program. The Board President called the meeting to order, and the board secretary did the roll call. The agenda was comprised of various reports and the secretary would go though each agenda item, beginning with the board secretary s report, finance, personnel, listing of approvals for salaries that included names of staff/faculty, retirements, leave of absences, bills, travel, field trips, etc. ... • 9. The Effect Of Bovine Growth Hormone Injections On Cows According to Purdue University the United States is responsible for the production of over 20 billion gallons of milk per year. This milk is either pasteurized and sold or further manufactured into other forms of dairy such as cream cheese or ice cream. Many Americans have an unrealistic dream of where their milk is produced; a grassy farm where the cows are able to roam freely and be milked by hand. However, this is not the reality in America. Today, most dairy farms use machinery to milk their cows and often leave them in cramped spaces. In order to increase the amount of milk a cow produces, farmers have started to treat their cows with bovine growth hormone. Because of this practice many arguments have come up to stop the use of Bovine Growth Hormone injections in cows. This is due to the alleged side effects this milk is said to produce; for example cancer or antibiotic insensitivity. This leaves anyone who drinks milk is potentially susceptible to these effects. The FDA gives details of the biology of Bovine Growth Hormone. Bovine Growth Hormone is naturally found in all animals, including humans, and enhances growth, development and health maintenance. It was discovered that by injecting cows with the hormone, found in the pituitary gland, then their milk production would increase. In the 1980 s it became possible to mass produce the hormone. Scientific theories are derived in some rigorous way from the facts of experience acquired by observation and experiment. Science is based on what we can see and hear and touch, etc. Personal opinion or preferences and speculative imaginings have no place in science. Science is objective. Scientific knowledge is reliable knowledge because it is objectively proven knowledge. Alan Chalmers, What Is This Thing Called Science?, 1982, p.1. Chalmers represents the traditional inductivist view with his statement on science. An inductivist makes observations, then creates a general statement that aims to explain the encountered phenomenon. However, Karl Popper, another scientific philosopher, has completely rejected this scientific method and has argued against the sole use of induction when conducting scientific research. Unsatisfied with Chalmers method, and the traditional inductive method in general, he instead made his own version of the scientific method, dubbed the hypothetico deductive method . The first rule I chose was the seventh rule of tactics, Alinsky states, A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues. . I agree with the purpose of this rule because people need variety in an organization or else they get bored. People need any kind of variations of work that they can get within an organization over a prolonged period of time in order to stay productive and efficient. Variation also allows for the members of an organization to gain additional experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with this rule because we, as human beings, are prone to over complicate a simple situation. For example, we look at a situation, we then get overwhelmed by it, then, when the situation is over, we feel as though we shouldn t have been worried about the situation at all. A Biblical example of this tactic is in Genesis 3, starting in verse 1 by saying Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God made and finishing in verse 15 by the Lord saying to the serpent He will strike your head and you will strike his heel (HCSB). At first, the serpents description makes him seem very intimidating but within the same chapter the serpent was told how he will meet his ends, which discredits any prior intimidation that the serpent had. This tactic is true for all organizations because despite how difficult a challenge may seem, people are more than likely willing to help if they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aerial Ethnographic Research The cultural myths within this concrete jungle are prominent in this picture; and like most cultural myths, the reality is far more complicated than these ideology have made it seem. While the immense complexity of this society cannot be captured in a single image, this photo of Central Park and the outlying city shows us the cultural features that are not visible or not obvious from ground level. The rigid geometric shapes and lines of the buildings blur together to form a vast expanse of buildings that extends toward the outer edges of the photograph and the enormity of it all hints at the rich culture that resides within. It is simple to see how the city became known for being a melting pot demographic with its tightly packed structures. The shocking love story of Romeo and Juliet ended with two teens hasty decisions to commit suicide. William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, focused on the love story of two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet. For they thought death was the only option, death they chose, but they thought wrong. Like many others in life, if only Romeo and Juliet had pondered a little longer, waited till their feelings of desperation dispersed, the tale of Romeo and Juliet could have ended with a different story. It is also important to think with a clear mind to be able to rationally think about the possibilities of each and every choice. Your emotions can point you in a direction that might not always be leading you to the best choice, says Frank (Heiman 1). Emotions are factors that might not point in the right direction. At the moment, everything will feel all right until later on, when the emotions have changed, there will be regrets. It s important to look for the best possible option instead of settling in with a just okay . . . . they re [teens are] taxing a system that isn t fully developed, Aguirre says. No wonder some are unable to handle it, and find themselves overwhelmed (Maclean 1). Because they are teens, their brains aren t fully developed yet. Romeo and Juliet were not able to handle the stress and weren t able to stand it. Instead of taking the time to sort out their emotions, they jumped off a cliff without a parachute. The short lives of Romeo and Juliet could have been prevented if they and those around Romeo and Juliet were able to make decisions more wisely. Romeo and Juliet made bad decisions like real people. The story shocked many, but very accurate to real life. As life continues on, many will learn from the story of Romeo and Juliet that decisions shouldn t be rushed and that they need to be considered from all sides. • 25. Enzymes Enzymes in detergent 1) What enzymes are used to make this product? There are essentially six main enzymes involved in detergent, specifically amylases, proteases, lipases, pectinases, cellulases, and mannanases. Each of these enzymes are responsible for targeting stains containing specific macromolecules like carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. 2) What type of reactions do the enzymes catalyze, and why is this of value? Amylases are typically responsible for catalysing the breakdown of starches which can be of value in removing the stains of foods such as cereals, pastas, and gravies. The enzyme hydrolyses the bonds within the starch molecule which decomposes it into dextrins and other oligosaccharides, which are soluble and can easily be removed in the wash. ... The most common sources of amylases are the bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, and Bacillus licheniformis. On the other hand, lipases are currently being sourced from yeast, bacteria, fungus, and from mammals. Biotex is the main source of cellulases, and have been in use since 1987. 4) Have the enzymes been modified for the process? One example of enzyme modification for its use in detergents are cellulases. This enzyme which is used to maintain the quality and brightness of clothing can be chemically modified to have a greater stability when used in an alkaline medium. This is done by exposing the cellulases to certain reagents like malcic anhydride. Another example of a modified enzyme would be the alkaline protease, which replaced the endogenous protease. This enzyme was derived from an alkalophilic strain of bacteria called Bacillus cereus, and is currently being used due to its stability at higher water temperatures. 7) What careers are associated with the industry that produces the product you ... Self-Esteem And Self Esteemcy Build their self esteem, self determination and efficacy From the different challenges identified, it was established that adolescent girls were often confronted with many identity conflicts and low self esteem. It was during the adolescent stage that many girls experience new societal expectations and responsibilities, which often resulted in identity confusion or internal conflict that needed to be resolved during adolescence. Consequently, the best ways of engaging girls were to first build their self esteem, self determination, self efficacy and confidence. According to Powell (2004), by being supportive and giving tasks and challenges that raise self esteem, adolescent girls may be able to have success in school and develop self motivation. Powell (2004) stressed the need for supportive environments and the need to allow adolescents to develop their own unique identities. According to Erickson (1968), adolescents were often at the fifth psychosocial stage of human development. This stage was called Identity versus Identity Confusion. According to Erickson, if adolescents were not allowed to explore their new roles and follow a future positive path, they may remain confused about their identity. Resolving conflicts during adolescence, according to Erickson, assists adolescents to become who they would be, unique individual, progressing further into higher developmental stages. • 28. Why I Want To Understand The Brain By Anne Sexton Sexton s poem allowed me to understand what it must feel like to live with a mental illness such as depression. I was quite frightened to find that Sexton constantly wanted to kill herself. Her confessional style of poetry allowed me to understand that this type of mental illness is a reality for people. The way in which Anne Sexton describes her desire for death, allowed me to understand the power depression held on her mind and body. The need to end her life must have meant that dying outweighed any need to live. Anne Sexton had two children and I am shocked she would abandon these two children for an escape from the world. I realised Sexton s drive to kill herself was greater than the love for her own family. Even though it was selfish of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Enron Essay As Bethany McLean and Peter Elkind portray in The Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of Enron, there was a chain reaction of events and a hole that dug deeper with time in the life span of, at one time the world s 7th largest corporation, Enron. The events were formulated by an equation with many factors: arbitrary accounting practices, Wall Street s evolving nature and Enron s lack of successful business plans combined with, what Jeff Skilling, CEO of Enron, believed was the most natural of human characteristics, greed. This formula resulted in fraud, deceit, and ultimately the rise and fall of Enron. Kenneth Lay created Enron in 1985 as a result of the merger of Houston Natural Gas and Internorth. Within a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next came California s rolling blackouts caused by Enron s traders. By turning the power off and on in California, they could control the price of electricity, essentially stealing people s money. Because they could manipulate the price, they made hefty bets on it, and in turn made over $2 billion dollars for Enron. Just before the fall of Enron, the insiders sold off nearly $1 billion dollars prior to the annunciation of the bankruptcy of Enron. What caused so many executives and employees to behave in such a fraudulent way? As Skilling put it, the biggest motivator for humans is money. Enron s executives received large quantities of stock options, motivating them to manipulate earnings which would cause an increase in the stock price. The nature of Enron s executives also played a big role in influencing employees to display similar characteristics of aggression, arrogance, greed and dishonesty. Executives at Enron were known to take extreme dirt biking trips to places like Mexico, where they could dangerously travel 1200 miles of rugged terrain. Stories of broken bones, stitches and flipping jeeps became legendary at Enron, and fed the macho personality of the employees. Top management gave its managers blank orders, to just do it (60). In turn, employees attempted to not only crush outsiders, but eachother. Skilling encouraged this behavior, saying he wanted them to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Post Test Pretest, Posttest, Interview Questions: The pre test (Show What You Know) and post test (Show What You Have Learned) that I designed had similar questions to what the students were going to see within the lesson. When giving them the pre test a few students got neverous but I assured them that this is for my own information so I can better teach everyone. I told them to all at least try and answer the questions to the best of their ability. Both the pre test and post test are attached at the end of the lesson. The following are the results of the pre test and post test. Students coded in green increased from pre to post test, students in yellow remained the same, students in red lost points from pre to post test. Although, Z. D. s score went down from the pre test to the post test, his work showed that his mathematical understanding increased due to the lesson. He only lost points on providing his answers in simplest form, meaning he needs practice on reducing fractions. • 33. Basic Instructions For Knitting All Animals Basic Instructions for Knitting All Animals Heads and Tails No matter which animal you re making, the basic leg and body patterns and assembly instructions are the same. You ll find these patterns and instructions on the next pages of this document. The head, tail, and details are what make each animal distinct and different. These patterns and instructions as well as optional changes for the legs and bodies are found in the specific animal instruction pages in a separate document. Materials and Tools The great thing about making these animals is that you re free to use whatever colors and sizes of yarn that you already have on hand, or that fit the needles you already own. Larger yarns and needles make larger animals. There are only two rules regarding the materials and tools you should use:  Use a similar weight of yarn for the entire animal.  Use knitting needles at least two sizes smaller than those recommended for the yarn you want to use. This makes the stitches tighter so they don t stretch and show the stuffing. Basics The general instructions for all animals are:  Work in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side and purl on the wrong side) unless otherwise noted.  Patterns show only rows with increases, decreases, or color changes. When a row isn t shown on a pattern, continue in stockinette stitch without any changes from the previous row.  When casting on and binding off, leave enough yarn to sew seams with later.  Head, tail, and detail ...
