Workplace Violence Paper
Workplace Violence 2
Workplace violence has increased over the past few years. The violence deals with harassment and
threatening disruptive behavior. Workplace violence can occur between employee, employers,
customers and patients. In some cases of violence in workplace can end up as a homicide. The goal is
to look at the prevention and training methods that are in place to help make an individual work
environment safe. Violence on the job can happen at any given time and usually come from disgruntle
employees and customers. Examples of people susceptible to violence are public service workers,
healthcare professionals and law enforcement. Preventing workplace violence is a growing concern in
the United States. Public interest and media attention have focused primarily on dramatic but very rare
types of violence such as shootings by disgruntled employees in office buildings. Planners of
workplace violence programs face the dual challenge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most companies and government agencies have policies in place that can support the vision of non
violence in the workplace. Berman noted that workplace violence is not new, but it periodically
emerges as a priority for an organization. It is clear that workplace violence requires a comprehensive
approach and training should be recurrent (Berman 2013, 351 352). Theses comprehensive approaches
should deal with strategies in identifying the problem, zero tolerance policy and after action review
plan. Overall the plan should focus on the potential of violence happening within their companies and
government agencies. Federal employees in organizations such as the National Institute for

Negative Effects Of Year-Round Schooling
In the modern world, parents are left with deciding whether their children should attend a year round
school or a school with a more traditional schedule. These issues may not seem that important, but
they affect students and the communities they grow up in. Aspects against this issue say they cause
lost opportunities due to not being able to work, higher school cost, decrease participation, and make it
hard on family life.
Students tends earn more money in the summer because they have lots of time with no school
responsibilities which affects their communities (ed week 3). Community colleges would be affected
dramatically by year round schooling. Community colleges are affected in that students wouldn t be

Not being able to have family life is an issue because it is important for children s development to
spend quality time with their families (ed news 2). Extracurricular activities are another dimension
that can be negatively influenced by year round schooling (ed news 2). Teachers would also have
difficulty adapting to a year round schedule because planning activities during the school year would
make it hard for them to create time for family life (ed news 2). With the year long schedule, it would
make it almost impossible to schedule family vacation and family time. Sport are another aspect that
year round schooling effects, due to the fact that students wouldn t have enough time for practice
(Julia Stines, Normal 3). All in all year round schooling would affect family life for students, teachers,

The Asss In The Lion s Skin
According to Barbius in http://www.taleswithmorals.com/aesop fable the ass in the lion s skin.htm on
1912. The fable states that An Ass once found a Lion s skin which the hunters had left out in the sun to
dry. He put it on and went towards his native village. The Ass found the Lions skin and put it on
knowing that it was not his. The Ass did not think much of taking the Lion s skin and wearing it as his
own because the hunters left the skin out to dry. To add on, the fable states that All fled at his
approach, both men and animals, and he was a proud Ass that day. The Ass went into his village and
scared all of the people and animals because he looked like a lion. The Ass thought it was fun and cool
that he was terrifying the innocent people and did not feel guilty at all. Lastly, the fable states that In
his delight he lifted up his voice and brayed, but then everyone knew him, and his owner came up and
gave him a sound cudgelling for the fright he had caused. And shortly afterwards a Fox came up to
him and said: Ah, I knew you by your voice. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Multilingualism As An Official Language
Every nation should set multilingualism as their main objective. There are many benefits both at an
individual level as well as at state level for people to be multilingual. Firstly, knowing multiple
languages helps us to adapt into and interact in this globalised world we live in. Secondly, being able
to express ourselves in a language we identify ourselves most with, and have the strongest knowledge
of, is a human right.
It is important to make a distinction between a national language and an official language before
discussing any further. National language is a language associated with a particular country where it is
recognised as a symbol of national identity (Joan Swann, 2004) whereas an official language can be
defined as a language which is used for political, legal and administrative communications within a
given political territory. (Joan Swann, 2004) This essay will focus on national languages and their
importance across the globe from small communities to national level without overruling the
importance of having official language(s) helping to run governments.
Due to globalisation, the world nowadays is significantly interconnected economically,
technologically and culturally. Even though globalisation is not a new phenomenon, and can be argued
to have started already in the 1500s when the transatlantic exploration and consolidation of European
hegemony began, the pace and the scope of it is greater than ever² (Ruth Wodak, 2011). Consequently,

In fact, an expert from the L.A. Sheriff s Department who testified at the Sleepy Lagoon trial is quoted
as saying:
Let us view it from the biological basis. . . Total disregard for human life has always been universal
throughout the Americas in the human population. And this Mexican element feels a desire to kill or at
least to draw blood (Tobar, 1997). On top of the racism faced in the courtroom was the media bias
against the Mexican American population. In the process of covering events in the city, the then
Hearst owned papers did a series of articles on the pachuco gangs, depicting Mexican American
neighborhoods as being fraught with violence, places of raping and pillaging (Tobar, 1997). This was
the atmosphere of the city at the time of the Sleepy Lagoon murder in 1942, when the body of Jose
Diaz was found at a common swimming hole after a party. Because of the public outrage over
pachuco gangs, which was instigated by the media, the sheriff s department went on a sweep of the
city s barrios, rounding up and arresting over 600 young men in connection to the Sleepy Lagoon case.
Eventually 24 men were indicted for murder, and 12 were convicted (Tobar, 1997). During the trial in
early 1943, the defendants were forced to stay within a prisoners box and not

Analysis Of Thomas Gainsborough s Portrait Of Grace...
Thomas Gainsborough presents a fabulous portrait of Grace Dalrymple Elliott. This is a full length
painting believed to be commissioned by her lover, Earl of Cholomondeley in 1777 (Major, 2016).
This portrait goes beyond a simple painting of a mistress. Rather, Gainsborough s portrait of Grace is
a study of striking and noble beauty versus a celebration of female sexuality as a commodity.
Gainsborough accomplished this art piece by using several uncommon practices in his portrait making
techniques. The first is using a six foot handle brush working directly on the canvas to give himself a
better viewpoint of his work. Second, Gainsborough often painted by candlelight, attempting to
simulate the soft lighting in which the painting would be viewed (Information for Parents, n.d.).
Gainsborough was very successful in creating an atmospheric mood and unity between the
backgrounds and figures in his paintings. He displayed great skill in the use of color repetitions and
contrasts, fluid brushstrokes, and highlighting. Grace, in her full length portrait, appears both self
confident and majestic as she leans forward on her left foot. She is wearing a simple, snug ribbon
choker around her throat that graciously drapes down the front of her chest where she clasps the train
of her gown in a gesture of vulnerability. Her other jewelry is a pair of small stud gold earrings and a
layered bracelet of strung pearls on both wrists adds a unique touch to not over power or

What Does Masculine Mean To Me
Masculine to me means that not only are you physically strong mentally and emotionally strong. It
also means that you carry yourself with confidence and humility and compassion. To me it s important
that a male is able to express his emotions without feeling weak. To me, masculine, means to respect
others no matter what circumstance and be responsible.
I get my idea of what it means to be a good man from my own believes, some of my family ideas, and
from the Bible. I believe that these characteristics decide what a man is: Educated, hard working,
compassionate, humble, taking responsibility for their own , loving, and brave. Even being
emotionally vulnerable is another characteristic that describes a man to me.

Taking a Look at International Migration
Over the past number of decades, international migration has caused a significant shift in the
distribution of the world s population, leading to great concern for many countries around the globe
(McKeown, 2004: 159). Migration is often seen as a way to deal with bad political institutions,
conflicts or a chance to boost economic opportunities. While a person s decision to migrate is
normally recognised as an entirely individual choice and the possibility for a person to improve their
quality of life, in some cases an individual does not always get a choice in migrating (Drabo and
Mbaye, 2011: 2). Environmental change has always been linked to global migration flows and can
result in large population movement across the world (International Organization for Migration,
2008). According to the European Commission (2013: 3), there is growing evidence to show that
climate change, climate induced events and environmental disruptions are likely to assume greater
importance in influencing migration, especially in developing countries. Throughout history, climate
change has created mass movements of population and the natural environment is probably the oldest
determinant of migration and population displacement. It is predicted that by the half century, 200
million people could be permanent or temporary environmental migrants within their own countries or
overseas (Drabo and Mbaye, 2011: 2). These large figures tend to dominate the current debate on the
relationship between the

A Lesson Plan For A Teacher
Every teacher is responsible for planning what will be taught to their students every week. Each day
the students will have certain activities and work that all comes together under the same category. This
is what is called lesson plans, and they are a very important part of keeping the class together and also
help the teacher stay organized. There are many different ways in which one can set up their lesson
plans, but it is very important to have them done the correct way rather than the wrong way to get the
full benefit from them. I was able to find two different lesson plans that represent the correct way and
also the wrong way. The correct one I was able to find on reading.org and the other one I found on
esltreasures.com. Each one was created for the beneficial knowledge of the student, however they are
very different and only one will help them obtain that knowledge. The first lesson plan that I found on
esltreasures.com was a very simple lesson plan, which appears to be more of an agenda with different
times with each activity. The lesson is supposed to be directed for a class of junior beginners and is
meant to cover a grammar lesson along with spelling and vocabulary. However everything is done in
unrealistic time frames. All the activities are between 5 to 20 minutes each. Since the subject being
taught is grammar and vocabulary, there is an assignment for a spelling game, but it is only for 10
minutes. There is also a grammar point explanation that is only 2 3

The Worst Time Of My Life
Tissues boxes, and powerade bottles cover my floor as I lie in my bed wishing it would be over. It
hurts to move and even worse when I try to lay on my left side, I hate having to bear through the pain
but, I had no choice. Most kids would like to stay home from school every once in a while maybe
because they don t want to go to school or because they re sick. Some would pay to be sick and stay
home a day or two but, me on the other hand I can t just stay a day or two; I usually stay weeks
because I always have it bad but this year had to be the worst time of my life. Every year it would
always come in the winter time, the worst time to be sick honestly. The coughing always comes first I
usually don t think nothing of it but then I receive a stuffy nose that finds its way to make me sneeze
and sound congested. However, the last time I got sick was a little bit more than an average cold. It
was Late January early February, I started to get the simple signs of a cold right after basketball
season. I stayed home just one day since my body started to ache with every moment I made. I went
back to school but my health was just getting worse and worse every day I went to school. After that
my mom thought it was probably the flu or maybe strep throat so I went to the doctor that following
week hoping we could get the answer to our questions. When I went to the doctors they called me
back so they could run all the possible test of viruses I could possibly have. They ran two tests

During Richard Nixon s Watergate Scandal
US History
5.5.16
Watergate Scandal During Richard Nixon s Presidency in 1972, five people broke into the Democratic
National Committee (DNC) in Washington D.C., these five burglars were trying to find secret
documents and tried to wiretap phones. The five were all connected to Nixon s campaign, raising
some flags about him being involved, somehow ordering them to do this. After suspicions grew, and
he found out about him getting impeached, he resigned as President, leaving Gerald Ford as the 38th
president of the US. Gerald Ford did something that would ruin his image, he gave Richard Nixon
pardon for all the wrongdoings that he s ever done while in office. Was he right for doing this? When
Ford gave Nixon pardon, he was just trying to focus more on America becoming whole again. He didn
t want the people to concentrate on Nixon s trial, and he did not want it to be all over the papers. He
also wanted to avoid other problems within the US because the Vietnam War was still happening. As
the result, President Ford was right to give Nixon pardon. President Ford was right to give Nixon

Oliver Stone Biography
Oliver Stone had his breakthrough in the film industry when he wrote the screenplay for Midnight
Express (1978), directed by Alan Parker. The film was a hit and earned Stone his first Academy Award

Daft Punk Research Paper
The early days of EDM as concert attractions were off to an unsteady start with an audio/visual setup
consisting of little more than a few speakers and a film projector. Although, the shows changed and
matured with the genre, many point to Daft Punk s first appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and
Arts festival in Indio, California, in 2006 where the duo unveiled their now legendary pyramid as a
game changer. Manning a 24 foot tall aluminum pyramid of custom built supercomputers covered
with screens, Daft Punk created what many believe to be the best electronic show ever assembled, a
veritable LED infused honeycomb pulsing with music and purpose. The idea for the pyramid stage
setup came from Daft Punk s 2005 video for Technologic, which featured a little robot who chants the
song s lyrics which flash on a television monitor while sitting in a little red pyramid on a pyramid
themed stage where Bangalter and de Homem Christo are playing base guitars. The two thought it
would be funny to be perched in a larger pyramid in a crazy, tricked out show while trying to bring a

Selma Is Now Analysis
Following the end of the Civil Rights Movement many Americans believed this would be the end of
race issues in the United States. They believed that the sit ins, marches, and protests that caused
President John F. Kennedy to issue civil rights legislation ended race problems making the United
States a post racial society. However, as recent racial tensions in the United States and the anniversary
of the Selma Voting Rights March and Voting Rights Act many historians have questioned whether the
Civil Rights movement ended. Society has drawn a correlation between the fight for justice now with
the justice African Americans fought for in the 1950s and 1960s. The Selma March which is

No, Not Really LaGrand gives lynching statistics to showcase the cruelty of the Jim Crow Era stating
The Equal Justice Initiative has recently documented 3,959 African Americans lynched between 1877
and 1950. Lynch mobs cast a wide net. They targeted Black men accused of crimes, those accused or
suspected of sexual relations with white women, and those seen as being impudent to white man, in
the words of one lynching record. Lynchings were barbaric, often involving the ritualistic burning and
dismemberment of dead bodies . These lynching statistics are devastating and harsh, but they are still
comparable to police shooting statistics in numbers. Hobbs shares statistics as well stating Federal
data show that between 2010 and 2012, 1,217 deadly police shootings occurred and black men
between the ages of 15 and 19 were killed at a rate of 31.17 per million, while 1.47 per million white

Chilean Human Rights Violations Had An Undoubted...
The case about Chilean human rights violations had an undoubted international significance. Its
highest point came with the arrest of General Pinochet in London in 1998, at the request of arrest
warrant and subsequent processing issued by Judge Garzón.
The detention lasted for 503 days; nearly a year and a half that gave rise to several judicial and
political actions and reactions that serve as the basis of understanding of the topic of the essay. On the
one hand, the debate on universal jurisdiction and protection of human rights was intensified both
internationally and domestically. On the other hand, different attitudes become evident within Spain:
were actors like Castresana, Garzón and Garcés who pushed and pressured for the process (largely
motivated by the various associations of victims), while the Prosecutor and the Government showed a
somewhat reluctant and even contrary position to it.
Without going into further details about British courts decisions, it suffices to recall that the House of
Lords Committee finally decided that Pinochet had no criminal immunity and that his extradition was
possible . Nonetheless, a political decision based on humanitarian grounds freed Pinochet, who
returned to Chile when some legal proceedings had already initiated to investigate human rights
violations occurred during both the coup and Pinochet s mandate, and he was finally put into trial.
Once again, external pressures were significant factors when promoting domestic

Great Expectations Manipulation
Some people spend their whole life trying to accomplish a particular something. It might be an
achievement or just simply trying to be perfect, but what actually define us as a person and the true
value of our lives? How can we possibly know if the life we are living now will be worthy in the end
and we will not regret anything when we look back onto it? In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens,
he states that life would not be as gratifying if one s life is filled with manipulation and comparison,
instead one must self seek and enhance himself/herself in every aspect throughout the course of life.
In the first part of Dickens novel, all I can deduce from Joe, Pip s brother in law, is the fact that he

pointless to live, as one cannot appreciate the goodness in life. No doubt education plays a crucial role
in creating a success life, however do not let those standards conceal who you truly are or alter your
purpose in life. Joe demonstrated to Pip that life without literacy could also be worthwhile as long as
you successfully seek your own self and find your own purpose in life by improving a little bit each

Missing White Woman Syndrome Summary
The disappearance and death of Maylin has created an awareness of not only her disappearance, but of
many other Latina s who have gone missing. This article states that missing Latina s are not getting
the news coverage they deserve. It also talks about how white women are innocent victims in
disappearance scenarios, whereas black women and Latina s are involved in activities that in some
form lead to their kidnapping and death. This article explains how more news coverage on missing
women of color could make a difference in whether they are found alive or dead. This is something
that is true because the more the public is informed on missing people the more they will be able to

Harriet Tubman Fight for Freedom Essay
A Long Journey Fighting Slavery A strong and powerful lady said these wise words: There was one of
two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if I could not have one, I would have the other; for no man

Usui Reiki Research Paper
THE CONCEPT OF REIKI
Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing through the laying on
of hands. Despite being often referred to as spiritual healing, reiki is a secular practice and is unrelated
to any religion or faith system. Rather, it centres on the belief that all beings are created and sustained
by a universal life force energy, which, if disrupted, weakened or blocked, can result in emotional
and/or physical dis ease. Reiki practitioners act as a channel for this energy, which flows through them
and into the recipient via a series of hand positions relating to the seven main chakras, which in turn
are linked to the body s endocrine system, thereby restoring the energetic balance and encouraging the
body to self heal. As the flow of reiki energy is absorbed by the recipient through both the subtle and
physical bodies, reiki ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Globalization And Its Impact On The Global Economy
Globalisation has made up enormously over the last half century after taking place for hundreds of
years. Globalisation development of the increasingly interconnected which results massively increased
trade and culture exchange. This production has had an increase of goods and services; the biggest
companies are now multinational corporations with subsidiaries in many countries (Bbc.co.uk, 2016).
Globalisation has a greater scale in the international movement of goods and services, economical
investment and the people and information. Results of globalisation indicates that the world
development may be more sustainable. Political relations and the global environmental have become
successfully intertwined, an increase in the global economic incorporation (Martens and Raza, 2016).
Globalisation has resulted in: increased international trade a company operating in more than one
country greater dependence on the global economy freer movement of capital, goods, and services

Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is the study of energy levels in atoms or molecules, using absorbed or emitted
electromagnetic radiation. There are many categories of spectroscopy eg. Atomic and infrared
spectroscopy, which have numerous uses and are essential in the world of science. When investigating
spectroscopy four parameters have to be considered; spectral range, spectral bandwidth, spectral
sampling and signal to noise ratio, as they describe the capability of a spectrometer. In the world of
spectroscopy there are many employment and educational opportunities as the interest in spectroscopy

History of Spectroscopy =======================
Spectroscopy has been used as a method of quantitative chemical analysis before the beginning of the
twentieth century. Spectroscopy started in 1666 when Sir Isaac Newton passed rays of light from the
sun through a glass prism and observed the colours of the visible spectrum, another great
breakthrough concerning spectroscopy was the suggestion of transition between energy levels within
atoms as the source of spectral lines was great contribution made by Niels Bohr in 1913. At the end of
the nineteenth century, spectroscopy was limited to the absorption, emission, and the scattering of
visible, ultraviolet, and infrared electromagnetic radiation. However, during the twentieth century,
spectroscopy was extended to include other forms of electromagnetic radiation including photo
spectroscopy e.g X rays, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as particle spectroscopy.

My Career At Loyola University Chicago
After a long eight months, I can now look back and say that I completed my first year of college. It is
safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was in high school. Many adjustments,
such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be made. However, I think that those adjustments had made
me a more accountable student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to
enter my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I personally feel
that I am still a planet s distance away from figuring out who I really am, but I think that as long as I
can keep being the best person I can be, I can accomplish what I want to do during my post collegiate
career. In this essay, I will talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago,
emphasizing my field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to
take to get there. My current major at Loyola Chicago is Health Systems Management otherwise
known as H.S.M. which as it implies, revolves around the health care industry. I was originally an
Economics major with the Liberal Arts and Sciences school. At the time, I thought that Economics
was the major for me because I really enjoyed the topic when I was in high school, and I was also into
business. I did well in both semesters; however, I was also interested in learning about the health care
business. I did not know that Loyola had a major focusing on health care until I talked

Deborah Tannen Essay
We are all the same. People always said. But is this really the case? For people, are we really all the
same between men and women? Do men and women really linve in same worlds? When people say
same , it s about the way we communicate, about our lifestyle and emotions.
Deborah Tannen, 1990, strongly believes that men and women have different ways of communicating.
Tannen believes that the best way to describe communication between the genders is in a cross
cultural format. She called this, Genderlect theory of Deborah Tannen. This theory mostly focuses on
how the two genders, male and female, are made of different things and how both genders has
contrasting styles, in terms of the way they communicate. According to Griffin, E. (2009), there ...

Some of other most important component of the group we can find Piet Mondrian which was a
painter; Cornelis Van Eesteren which was an architect; and of course one of the main exponent of the
De Stijl architecture Gerrit Rietveld which was an architect. The De Stijl art movement had just one
goal: to make art that was as simple as possible. They wanted to purify art to precision and perfection.
Two important elements were composition and balance in their work, making the De Stijl art
movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and modern architecture such as we
can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the International Style. The De Stijl movement
was theorized on the fundamental principles of the simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares,
and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem
(such as blue, yellow, red, white and black). Also the association between positive and negative. The
goal of the movement in design was to make simple things such as furniture and buildings a piece of
art itself. It was a an abstract movement with the idea of the form following function and the emphasis
on the structural components. Van Doesburg described the style by saying, The new architecture is anti

To make matters even more confusing, there are those within the Business Analyst community who
have begun to distinguish between business analysts who focus on defining software requirements and
those business analysts who are focused on improving business processes. SAP, for example, has set
up a website1 for Business Process eXperts (BPXs), a group of analysts with more extensive business
process capabilities.
This vagueness between BA and BPM roles creates confusion in practice and academia, which
impacts on role designs, skills assessment, human resource development, recruitment and professional
development. The impact of such was made clear at a Leonardo Process Days 2010 conference panel
where BA and BPM role differentiation was reviewed. An outcome of this discussion was a consensus
that i) Practitioners struggle to recognise and articulate the skills required (BA, BPM or both?) for
various organisational initiatives and how to locate appropriate talent to fill these roles ii)
Academics fail to position BA and BPM as separate professions and often bundle them as the same in
their course descriptions and marketing iii) Students and prospective candidates for employment
vacancies therefore remain confused about the specific skill sets required of a BPM professional a nd/

Bigotry And Prejudice Similarities
Prejudice and bigotry are similar in ways of singling out a group of people and disliking them. In
history prejudice has escalated quickly into wars, most notable of such would be, world war II (Hitler
s concentration camps) and the American Civil war (battle for slave freedom in the U.S.) Anybody is
capable of being prejudice, the battle of prejudice has been around as long as we have documentation
for. Prejudice is even found in the Bible, when the Hebrews were being held as slaves in Egypt and
Moses came in leading them to the promise land of Jerusalem. Prejudice is caused by the stereotyping
of a group of people without getting to know them. One could link this to sociocultural psychology,
because they are basing their hatred to a certain

What Can Stop Kids From Dropping Out By David L. Kirp
David L. Kirp, a professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley, wrote a New
York Times article in April 2016 regarding one of America s leading problems. The purpose of this
final essay is to summarize the article, critique it, analyze the article using the definition of successful
intelligence as the analytical tool, and finally conclude by answering the so what question. Kirp s
article entitled, What Can Stop Kids from Dropping Out, begins by citing some startling statistics; the
number of college dropouts is severely damaging our economic system. According to the article, and
an American Institute for Research, $4.5 billion is being lost in earnings and taxes nationwide due to
this issue. The article goes on to explain how this is not just a problem, but how it is a scandal.
Colleges are blaming high schools for the number of students whom arrive at college and quickly drop
out. Kirp explains that it isn t the high school s fault. Colleges don t provide enough academic
feedback, financial assistance, or personalized attention for their students. Georgia State is looking to
solve the issue at their own school. They have taken steps to reach out to students as soon as they start
to lose interest in their studies. They hire upperclassmen as tutors; they know that students are more
likely to go to their peers for help rather than professors. Georgia State provides small grants for
students who need the extra few hundred dollars

The poem Po Boy Blues was composed by Langston Hughes during 1926, his early writing era. His
poetry was inspired by his family s history, a history full of abandonment, betrayal, and violence. His
father abandoned him seeking to find a life less confrontational to a black man, leaving Langston
Hughes to face being raised by his grandmother in the very same hostile environment his father sought
to escape. His mother betrayed him as she never embraced him with a mother s love not only once

For this week s Assignment we are given a word problem involving buried treasure and the use of the

expressions which is in this problem. The problem is as, Ahmed has half of a treasure map, which
indicates that the treasure is buried in the desert 2x + 6 paces from Castle Rock. Vanessa has the other
half of the map. Her half indicates that to find the treasure, one must get to Castle Rock, walk x paces
to the north, and then walk 2x + 4 paces to the east. If they share their information, then they can find
x and save a lot of digging. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Running with this information can now write out the equation AB2 + BC2 = AC2. One important
thing is that we must note that AB is equal to X and the line segment of BC is equal to that of 2x+4,
and that AC will be equal to that of 2x+6. So we will now input this information to create (x)2 + (2x +
4)2 = (2x + 6)2 and begin factoring each term into two sections. These two sections will be as x*x +
(2x + 4)(2x + 4) = (2x + 6)(2x + 6). x times x is x2. An important tool to use now would be the FOIL
method, so we will take (2x + 4)(2x + 4) and create 4x2 + 16x + 16. Right off the bat we notice that
we have like terms. So we will add x2 to 4x2 to get 5x2. This will create 5x2 + 16x + 16 = 4x2 + 24x+
36. Now we will use the subtraction property to get 5x2 4x2 + 16x 24x + 16 36 = 0, however we still
have like terms, so because 5x2 is a like term with 4x2 we will add them together to get x2. We will
also combine 16x and 24x and also 16 and 36 which are also like terms and create 8x and 20, our
equation should now look like x2 8x 20 = 0.We will now factor the equation from left to right, first
factoring x2 which has 1 coefficient so the fact will be 1 and 1. The other term will be 20 which have
no coefficient so we will do 5x4 and then 4 still can be divided so 2x2. This will create 20=225.
We will now take a look using the Prime Factorization formula which will aid us in finding the

Strange as it may sound, Canadians truly love they re magazines. According to Magazines Canada
(2012), which is an organization funded by the Canadian government, Canadians read more

in which magazines play a part in Canadian culture. In 1960 the Royal Commission on Publications
found that 75% of the general interest magazines bought in Canada were American publications, that
Time and Reader s Digest took 40 cents out of every dollar of magazine advertising, and that there
were only 5 Canadian general interest consumer magazines (S. Martin, S. Sarfati, 2013). Harsh
restrictions on foreign publications were recommended but these recommendations ... Show more

O Captain! My Captain!, Dead Poets Society is an all American classic; Our fearful trip is done, With
its subtle undertones and prominent connotations, stitched together by its optimistic views on life, all
contribute to the widespread epidemic of dreaming and living lives to the fullest. The ship has weather
d every rack, the prize we sought is won, When a new English teacher, Mr. John Keating (Robin
Williams), begins teaching at Welton s all boys academy, Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard) and his
group of friends embark on a taboo journey of taking the chances of a lifetime. The port is near the
bells I hear, the people all exulting, But what happens when the headmaster, Mr. Nolan (Norman
Lloyd), uncovers the truth of Mr. Keating s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music score impacts the audience by coordinating feeling and sound; Music has its own themes
and contrasting ideas already set. The music can also set the scene and stand symbolic in nature for
what the next scene might bring. Maurice Jarre, the main artist of the soundtrack, sticks with a light
and innocent leitmotif throughout most of the exposition. The opening scene s melody is very lyrical
and calming in nature although the soundtrack for Dead Poets Society is much like one song, not
much difference with piano and harp features. When there are downcasted moods, the bass lines seem
to broaden and grow in volume. The music choices were at the time modern and has a European
atmosphere, which helps guide the general tone of an traditional english boarding school. The last
song was the popular Beethoven symphony no. 9, which had a triumphant feel; The biggest song of
the film was called Keating s triumph which is the loudest scene with bagpipes. The song with the
saddest subject was a slow, serious song with monk like hum. The music in Dead Poets Society alters

related to disruption of these structures by her bone fractures? How is the sign or symptom related to

The Haversian system houses the blood vessels in Mrs. Morgan s compact bone. The bone tissue
sticking out the skin, the bruising and the extensive bleeding from the arm are the signs and symptoms
related to the disruption of these structures by her bone fractures. The bleeding and the bone tissue
sticking out of the skin shows how the blood vessels within the Haversian system, such as the
periosteal arteries supplying the outer area and the nutrient artery which supplies the inner part of
bone have been disrupted. The disruption of these arteries within the Haversian system will then make

  • 5. The Importance Of Multilingualism As An Official Language Every nation should set multilingualism as their main objective. There are many benefits both at an individual level as well as at state level for people to be multilingual. Firstly, knowing multiple languages helps us to adapt into and interact in this globalised world we live in. Secondly, being able to express ourselves in a language we identify ourselves most with, and have the strongest knowledge of, is a human right. It is important to make a distinction between a national language and an official language before discussing any further. National language is a language associated with a particular country where it is recognised as a symbol of national identity (Joan Swann, 2004) whereas an official language can be defined as a language which is used for political, legal and administrative communications within a given political territory. (Joan Swann, 2004) This essay will focus on national languages and their importance across the globe from small communities to national level without overruling the importance of having official language(s) helping to run governments. Due to globalisation, the world nowadays is significantly interconnected economically, technologically and culturally. Even though globalisation is not a new phenomenon, and can be argued to have started already in the 1500s when the transatlantic exploration and consolidation of European hegemony began, the pace and the scope of it is greater than ever² (Ruth Wodak, 2011). On top of the racism faced in the courtroom was the media bias against the Mexican American population. In the process of covering events in the city, the then Hearst owned papers did a series of articles on the pachuco gangs, depicting Mexican American neighborhoods as being fraught with violence, places of raping and pillaging (Tobar, 1997). This was the atmosphere of the city at the time of the Sleepy Lagoon murder in 1942, when the body of Jose Diaz was found at a common swimming hole after a party. Because of the public outrage over pachuco gangs, which was instigated by the media, the sheriff s department went on a sweep of the city s barrios, rounding up and arresting over 600 young men in connection to the Sleepy Lagoon case. • 8. Analysis Of Thomas Gainsborough s Portrait Of Grace... Thomas Gainsborough presents a fabulous portrait of Grace Dalrymple Elliott. This is a full length painting believed to be commissioned by her lover, Earl of Cholomondeley in 1777 (Major, 2016). This portrait goes beyond a simple painting of a mistress. Rather, Gainsborough s portrait of Grace is a study of striking and noble beauty versus a celebration of female sexuality as a commodity. Gainsborough accomplished this art piece by using several uncommon practices in his portrait making techniques. The first is using a six foot handle brush working directly on the canvas to give himself a better viewpoint of his work. Second, Gainsborough often painted by candlelight, attempting to simulate the soft lighting in which the painting would be viewed (Information for Parents, n.d.). Gainsborough was very successful in creating an atmospheric mood and unity between the backgrounds and figures in his paintings. He displayed great skill in the use of color repetitions and contrasts, fluid brushstrokes, and highlighting. Grace, in her full length portrait, appears both self confident and majestic as she leans forward on her left foot. She is wearing a simple, snug ribbon choker around her throat that graciously drapes down the front of her chest where she clasps the train of her gown in a gesture of vulnerability. Her other jewelry is a pair of small stud gold earrings and a layered bracelet of strung pearls on both wrists adds a unique touch to not over power or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at International Migration Over the past number of decades, international migration has caused a significant shift in the distribution of the world s population, leading to great concern for many countries around the globe (McKeown, 2004: 159). Migration is often seen as a way to deal with bad political institutions, conflicts or a chance to boost economic opportunities. While a person s decision to migrate is normally recognised as an entirely individual choice and the possibility for a person to improve their quality of life, in some cases an individual does not always get a choice in migrating (Drabo and Mbaye, 2011: 2). Environmental change has always been linked to global migration flows and can result in large population movement across the world (International Organization for Migration, 2008). According to the European Commission (2013: 3), there is growing evidence to show that climate change, climate induced events and environmental disruptions are likely to assume greater importance in influencing migration, especially in developing countries. Throughout history, climate change has created mass movements of population and the natural environment is probably the oldest determinant of migration and population displacement. It is predicted that by the half century, 200 million people could be permanent or temporary environmental migrants within their own countries or overseas (Drabo and Mbaye, 2011: 2). The detention lasted for 503 days; nearly a year and a half that gave rise to several judicial and political actions and reactions that serve as the basis of understanding of the topic of the essay. On the one hand, the debate on universal jurisdiction and protection of human rights was intensified both internationally and domestically. On the other hand, different attitudes become evident within Spain: were actors like Castresana, Garzón and Garcés who pushed and pressured for the process (largely motivated by the various associations of victims), while the Prosecutor and the Government showed a somewhat reluctant and even contrary position to it. Ah Choo Unlike a simple sneeze, this was a two part explosive nasal oral unrepressed force. Depriving the instigator, or better, its victim, of his anonymity, dignity, including self composure. A barreling echo of sound waves hurtling through the vaunted vestibule of an unassuming school building. Then crashing into my ear, with an unmistakable booming rhapsody. A refrain of Hail Mary, Jesus Christ! and Oh, God! Help Me! from a solitary, beleaguered, then surrendering soul. I confess a certain religiosity, as I was attending Roman Catholic Elementary School. Servicing us was a brood of Irish Italian nuns together with laypersons. All devoutly fulfilling the task of educating their passel of pupils. Pars I. Magna Sternumenta Big Sneeze Part 1 Ahh... There are many categories of spectroscopy eg. Atomic and infrared spectroscopy, which have numerous uses and are essential in the world of science. When investigating spectroscopy four parameters have to be considered; spectral range, spectral bandwidth, spectral sampling and signal to noise ratio, as they describe the capability of a spectrometer. History of Spectroscopy ======================= Spectroscopy has been used as a method of quantitative chemical analysis before the beginning of the twentieth century. Spectroscopy started in 1666 when Sir Isaac Newton passed rays of light from the sun through a glass prism and observed the colours of the visible spectrum, another great breakthrough concerning spectroscopy was the suggestion of transition between energy levels within atoms as the source of spectral lines was great contribution made by Niels Bohr in 1913. At the end of the nineteenth century, spectroscopy was limited to the absorption, emission, and the scattering of visible, ultraviolet, and infrared electromagnetic radiation. However, during the twentieth century, spectroscopy was extended to include other forms of electromagnetic radiation including photo spectroscopy e.g X rays, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as particle spectroscopy. It is safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be made. However, I think that those adjustments had made me a more accountable student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I personally feel that I am still a planet s distance away from figuring out who I really am, but I think that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can accomplish what I want to do during my post collegiate career. In this essay, I will talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to take to get there. My current major at Loyola Chicago is Health Systems Management otherwise known as H.S.M. which as it implies, revolves around the health care industry. Two important elements were composition and balance in their work, making the De Stijl art movement influential in the next few decades of modern design and modern architecture such as we can see in Le Corbusier or Mies Van De Rohe or in the International Style. The De Stijl movement was theorized on the fundamental principles of the simple geometry (such as straight lines, squares, and rectangles) with asymmetrical arrangements as well as the use of true primary colors in tandem (such as blue, yellow, red, white and black). Her half indicates that to find the treasure, one must get to Castle Rock, walk x paces to the north, and then walk 2x + 4 paces to the east. If they share their information, then they can find x and save a lot of digging. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running with this information can now write out the equation AB2 + BC2 = AC2. One important thing is that we must note that AB is equal to X and the line segment of BC is equal to that of 2x+4, and that AC will be equal to that of 2x+6. So we will now input this information to create (x)2 + (2x + 4)2 = (2x + 6)2 and begin factoring each term into two sections. These two sections will be as x*x + (2x + 4)(2x + 4) = (2x + 6)(2x + 6). x times x is x2. An important tool to use now would be the FOIL method, so we will take (2x + 4)(2x + 4) and create 4x2 + 16x + 16. Right off the bat we notice that we have like terms. So we will add x2 to 4x2 to get 5x2. This will create 5x2 + 16x + 16 = 4x2 + 24x+ 36. Now we will use the subtraction property to get 5x2 4x2 + 16x 24x + 16 36 = 0, however we still have like terms, so because 5x2 is a like term with 4x2 we will add them together to get x2. We will also combine 16x and 24x and also 16 and 36 which are also like terms and create 8x and 20, our equation should now look like x2 8x 20 = 0.We will now factor the equation from left to right, first factoring x2 which has 1 coefficient so the fact will be 1 and 1. The other term will be 20 which have no coefficient so we will do 5x4 and then 4 still can be divided so 2x2. This will create 20=225. We will now take a look using the Prime Factorization formula which will aid us in finding the number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
