The Characteristics Of The Taj Mahal Of India
Parodi (2000) stated that the Mausoleum of Akbar at Sikandra close Agra was begun by Akbar and
finished by his child Jahangir in 1612 A.D. who changed the initial design of his dad. Moreover,
planned on the model of a Buddhist Vihara, it is set in the focal point of a square garden. The nook
divider on every side has a portal. The core way has four white marble minarets in the four corners
and the mausoleum has five patios, ascending from the storm cellar, one over the other, decreasing in
size as they climb. The red sandstone passage portal is the biggest and is luxuriously improved with
decorated shaded stonework. With its enchanting extents, it is independent from anyone else a work of
art (Parodi, 2000).

that has unique interior characteristics. One of the most prominent characteristics of the Mughal
Interior Architecture and Design is the Synthesis of Indian and Persian Style. The buildings contain
the style of both the culture and tradition due to which their designs are exceptional and unique. The
construction is also made in the manner that makes the existence of these buildings inimitable. The Taj
Mahal is based on square platform and made up of white marble all over the building. This type of
structure and design is not found in any other building. Therefore, based on the case study of Taj

My Education, And The Influence Of Education
When you compare the world I come from to the world of some others, I came from an exceptional
world. Coming from a home with both parents, exceptional neighborhood, and growing up in church
all my life has taught me many lessons in life that eventually influence many of my decisions. Where I
come from has influenced me a lot. While I did grow up in a stable home, I also experienced many
bad things in different surroundings in my life that have influenced me to focus on my education and
make a difference in my community. I spent many summers staying with my grandmother who lived
in a rough neighborhood. Spending time in that neighborhood during a number of summers have
exposed me witnessing the struggle of many different people and also seeing people like my own
brother be badly affected by his environment in a rough neighborhood being lead to make bad
decisions in life. Seeing my brother drop out of high school, join a gang, and eventually end up in bad
area in his life influenced me to pursue my education and go to college to be the best I could be so I
wouldn t end up in the same position that he did. Not only did that experience influence me to want to
pursue the best education I could but it also made me want to be able to use my education and life
experiences to mentor others and show them the importance of pursuing an education and careers.
When it comes to mentoring younger men and doing community outreach, I felt like the best way for

Body Mechanics Essay
Body Mechanics Seminar Work related interventions are a central part of occupational therapy
practice and occupational therapists recognize the importance of healthy engagement within the
workplace (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2014; Wilcock Townsend as cited
in AOTA, 2014). Occupational therapists possess skills necessary to assess individuals engaged in
work activities and recognize potential dangers related to poor body mechanics (Opp, 2016). Opp
(2016) acknowledged a recent increase in employers taking a proactive approach in preventing work
related injuries and incorporating occupational therapists as means to evaluate the work environment
and make practical recommendations to reduce the risk of workplace injury (Opp, 2016). Body

Modernism In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
The movement of Modernism forced its way through the world in the early 20th century, and it faced
mixed reviews from the citizens of both America and Europe. On one side, there were those who
praised it and its dedication to individualism and its battle against architectural conservatism. This
perspective is show in Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead through the eyes of the protagonist Howard
Roark. Roark is a cold and uncompromising Modernist architect who believes that the ultimate crime
of humanity is the generic, uninspired, and collectivist architecture that runs rampant through the city
of New York. Housing projects were one of the top examples of what Roark saw as wrong with
society; what some citizens saw as generous and comforting, Roark saw as conformist and comparable
to the evil of the Nazis (Schleier, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roark s extreme perspective defined what it meant to be an architect for two generations. Ayn Rand
called the summation of Howard Roark s ideas objectivism. This hyper Modernist viewpoint makes
itself apparent in the plethora of skyscrapers and also in the praise and worship of these magnificent
edifices. The skyscrapers reach towards the heavens, blotting out the sky and serving as a monument
to the triumph of the individual over mediocrity. They are a product of the human mind and often took
the place of sacred religious structures (Schleier, 322). No other inanimate object held as much power
as the modern skyscraper, and those who designed them were meant to hold steadfast in both their
ideas and their blueprints. On the other side of the Modernist battle, there were those who struggled
against the Modernist urban renewal. They valued the tradition and culture that aged buildings nestled
in their crumbling doorways and cracked windows. They wanted to continue constructing edifices that
would tell stories and invite others in. This outlook was demonstrated in the film Mon Oncle, directed

Live Like You Were Dying Poem Analysis
Early October 2016 to January 2017, was the hardest time ever in my life. In October we found out
that my Grandpa had a very aggressive form of stage four brain cancer. We knew that there was
something wrong but we never thought it would be that bad. For the next month, the doctors ran tests,
decided on a game plan, and gave results. My grandpa was in severe pain and confusions. We got the
results that he would need to go through surgery on his brain to remove the tumor. This was around
November 15. That was probably the scariest day of my life. His surgery and I will never forget, was
at 12:10 pm. I remember sitting at the kitchen counter and I just prayed for half an hour. After that, I

The title of the song is the theme in itself, Live Like You Were Dying. Other quotes include, And a
moment came that stopped me on a dime , Someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were
dying , and Like tomorrow was a gift . These quotes really help us to understand the theme of living
like we are dying. There are also poetic devices found in the song that drives home the theme. First is
the imagery of the lyrics And a moment came that stopped me on a dime. This really means that this
event stopped him all of a sudden, or suddenly. Another part of the song that shows a pattern is the
ends of the first two lines when they use words like 40 and me, words that rhyme and are soft and then
when you get to the third line that says Stopped me on a dime , dime is a hard word and really wakes
you up . The rhymes, divin and climbin; deeper and sweeter; book and look, are words that show
action and love. Words that show you are doing something with your life. There is also a play on
words, I became a friend a friend would like to have. It means that he became a friend that someone
would like to have. These are just some of the poetic devices shown in the song Live Like You Were

The Bridges Of Francesca Analysis
For a romance about Francesca Johnson and Robert Kincaid, The Bridges of Madison County
mentions Francesca s husband Richard a surprising number of times. When the story begins, Italian
immigrant turned farmer s wife Francesca is home alone while her husband and teenaged children
show a steer at the Illinois State Fair. Robert, a travelling photographer assigned by National
Geographic to shoot the Madison County bridges, stops by Francesca s home to ask for directions,
leading to an affair. Richard Johnson may be out of sight for much of the story, but he is often on the
minds of both Francesca and Robert. He influences their relationship from the moment Robert Kincaid
s truck pulls into the driveway.

relationship. They were never going to be perfect, but in the end, they lived a full life together. After
Richard s death, Francesca reflects on this. xx It was worth staying in Madison County, but that does
not mean it was perfect. In Francesca s letter, she recounts her husband s dying words. xx No matter

Richard may never have understood his wife, but there is no doubt he loved her deeply.
Richard Johnson, the plain farmer of Madison County, played as large a role in the events of The
Bridges of Madison County as Francesca and Robert did, though he only appears in person on a
handful of pages. He may have been out of sight often, but he was never forgotten and his influence is
one of the strongest forces driving this story. He was not perfect, but he wanted to see Francesca

Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana Essay
Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana Every year, 400,000 Americans die of complications caused by
tobacco products. Smoking kills more Americans each year than alcohol, crack, heroin, murder,
suicide, car accidents, fires, and AIDS all put together. Every week, eight children under the age of
eighteen die from alcohol related crashes. Alcohol abuse contributes to almost 50% of all traffic
accidents, suicides, and homicides. However, despite the proven dangers of these socially acceptable
drugs, they are still legal. Marijuana, a much less acceptable drug, is not legal however, despite the
fact that research has yet to pin any specific dangers to this drug. Aside from the health issues of

Beowulf s Heroic Code
Beowulf remains one of the most important works of English literature though it was written centuries
ago. One reason for this fact is that many of the themes that it touches on are still pertinent in today s
extremely different society. One of the most prevalent themes found in Beowulf is the importance of
the heroic code. Much of this epic poem is dedicated to conveying and exemplifying the heroic code
which values such attributes as strength, courage and honor. Conflicting with this ideology are other
factors such as Christianity, and these tensions affect the lives and decisions of the narrative s
characters. Over the course of the poem, Beowulf matures from a gallant warrior into a wise leader.
This transition illustrates that a sometimes conflicting code of values goes along with each of his roles.
In Germanic societies, such as the one in which Beowulf takes place, there were heroic codes which
defined how a noble person should act. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning he is a brave fighter, but by the end, he has become a wise and noble king. This
transition shows that perhaps a different code is necessary to fulfill these different roles. These sets of
values illustrate early on in the poem the contrary outlooks of Beowulf and Hrothgar. Early in the
poem, Beowulf is young, brave and has no one to worry about but himself. Because of this he can risk
everything in his quest for personal glory. Hrothgar, on the other hand, is responsible for the lives of
many people, and therefore seeks their safety rather than his own honor. Hrothgar s example becomes
invaluable to Beowulf in preparation for the time when he will take the throne. He learns that as a
king, it is his duty to praise his warriors as well as protect his people. Hrothgar emphasizes the
importance of creating a stable environment. He also says that having good relationships with one s
own men, as well as with other groups, is

Pre Colonial And Colonial Settlements Essay
Pre colonial and Colonial Settlements Pre colonial settlement began in the United States when Paleo
Indians, now known as Native Americans, crossed the Bering Strait, an ice bridge that connected the
Eastern and Western Hemisphere. This was a crossover from Russia into to United States in which
large groups began to settle and form a life. Although this large groups would constantly move around,
in which they are known as Nomads, primarily the United States was their new found home. They
would endure activities such as fishing and hunting as basic survival skills. Around 1492, European
nations came to the Americas to increase their wealth and broaden their influence over world affairs.
The Spanish were among the first Europeans to explore the New World. (Colonial America, n.d.) This
exploration led to more groups of people travelling to seek a better world. By 1650, however, England
had established a dominant presence on the Atlantic coast. The first colony was founded at
Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607. Many of the people who settled in the New World came to escape
religious persecution. The Pilgrims, founders of Plymouth, Massachusetts, arrived in 1620. (Colonial
America, n.d.) The claim of the New World was taken by British settlers, although Native Americans
were the first to settle. Native Americans helped to flourish the lands, along with the new settlers. By

Teen Dating Violence
What is Teen Dating Violence?
Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs
within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former
partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent
national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or
intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of
adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported
experiencing TDV between the ages of 11 17 (CDC, 2014). Also, black students experience TDV

Some of the economic effects associated with IPV are as follows: employers lose between $3 5 billion
dollars per year for increased medical costs of battered victims and businesses lose an additional $100
million dollars in lost wages, sick days, and absenteeism. Also, nearly 2 million workdays are lost to
domestic violence annually and overall domestic violence costs the United States $67 billion dollars,
annually (NCADV, n.d.). IPV causes a huge lapse in profitability and productivity.
Using Public Service Announcements to Address other Public Health Issues Among Adolescents
Public service announcements have long been a tool of public health professionals and organizations
to prevent public health crises through awareness and instruction. For this intervention, public service
announcements via television and radio stations will be implemented to bring about prevention of teen
dating violence. Anti tobacco campaigns have utilized public service announcements to campaign the
detrimental effects of tobacco consumption as well as raise awareness regarding cessation resources.
In 2000, California held a media campaign that accounted for a 2 3% reduction in the sales of cigarette
packs. Despite the seemingly low effect of media campaigning, it has been proven that each dollar
invested in the anti tobacco advertising results into a per capita decrease of 7.7 packs of cigarettes

Maslow identified needs that must be built upon for development to occur. These needs are
physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self actualization (Maslow, 1943). Physiological
needs include access to food, water, shelter, sex, and breathing. If students do not have access to food,
then their basic needs are not being met. If their basic needs are not being met, then they will have
difficulty reaching esteem and self actualization. This is an issue because higher education serves as a
tool for students to gain experience in the realm of self actualization (problem solving, creativity, and
morality). Other institutions are having issues with hunger on their campuses. The University of
California Los Angeles has a small food pantry on campus. The food is donated and students can take
what they need (NPR). The University of Missouri has a student run food pantry close to campus. This
pantry allows students, faculty, and staff to take food once a month. It does not require proof of need

administration is wanting more support from the student population (CSU Article). It is beneficial to
have the investment from students, since they will be using the pantry and can help spread information

California s Court of Appeal Clarifies Application of anti SLAPP Statutes to Attorney Malpractice
Actions California s anti SLAPP statute (codified in Code of Civil Procedure section 425.16) protects
the Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and right of petition by subjecting any cause of action
that chills these rights to be subject to a special motion to strike. In the context of a complaint against
an attorney for malpractice, the California Court of Appeal recently clarified its application under
existing precedent and held the anti SLAPP statute did not apply to claims against attorneys by former
clients. In Loanvest I, LLC v. Utrecht et al (2015) 235 Cal.App.4th 496, the plaintiff brought an action
against its attorneys for malpractice for failing to put its interests before a former client, resulting in
damage. At the trial level, the court granted the defendant law firm s special motion to strike under the
anti SLAPP statute, finding that the malpractice claim was based upon an act in furtherance of the
protected right of petition. The plaintiff thereafter appealed. In making its decision, the trial court
relied heavily upon Peregrine Funding, Inc. v. Sheppard Muillin Richter Hampton (2005) 133
Cal.App.4th 658 where the Court of Appeal previously held that claims based upon allegations made
by attorneys in judicial filings were within the scope of the anti SLAPP statute and protected. For a

Starbucks is its competitors such as McDonald s McCafe coffee which offers quality products at much

Power And Power In Judith Slaying Holofernes By Artemisia...
Violence and gore are not uncommon themes in art, however, few paintings depict bloodshed and
power with such resounding naturalism as Artemisia Gentileschi s work titled Judith Slaying
Holofernes . The work is an oil on canvas completed in the Baroque era sometime between 1614 to
1620, and depicts Judith and her maidservant holding down the struggling Holofernes as Judith pulls a
sword through his neck. Gentileschi utilizes a combination of chiaroscuro and diagonal lines to not
only create the lifelikeness and drama of the moment, but also to demonstrate the motions of the
struggle as well as continually draw the focus back to the goriest part of the scene with the bloody
head of Holofernes.

Likewise, half of each woman s facial features are obstructed by shadows creating a deep sense of the
ruthlessness in their commitment to holding down and killing Holofernes. Moreover, Holofernes face
itself is completely covered in a light shadow compared to the brightness of his arms already giving a
perception that his head is separated from his body and his grim fate is imminent.
In addition to Gentileschi s use of chiaroscuro to provide lifelikeness and focus, she poses Holofernes,
the maidservant, and Judith at natural angles that provide an idea of the strength involved for
maidservant to hold Holofernes down and for Judith to pull the sword through this neck while
gripping the hair and beard. Notably, each character is posed in a diagonal position, adding to the
feeling of the motion involved in the struggle as the women hold down this large man to behead him.
Beginning with Judith, her entire body is angled at a slant, both arms locked in a diagonal position, as
well as the right knee placed at a diagonal on the bed displaying the commitment and power it takes to
hold Holofernes down while pulling the sword through his neck. Similarly, the maidservant s back is
positioned at a steep angle demonstrating the amount of weight she would be placing into her upper
body and arms to hold Holofernes down as he pushes back on her with his right arm. Lastly, the sharp
downward angle of Holofernes head as it hangs off the edge of the bed adds to the

Property in Second Treatise of Civil Government and Robinson Crusoe
Both John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil Government and Daniel Defoe s Robinson Crusoe deal
with the question of property. In these two texts, the following questions arise: when does common
property become an individual s property; and what factors make the appropriation of property
justifiable or not? These questions may be answered by looking at each author s political views,
followed by how they are incorporated in their work. Locke outlines the procedures for the transition
of property to private ownership, while Defoe details the way Crusoe appropriates property (i.e., food,
accommodations, and slaves) during the course of his stay on the ... Show more content on

But even though the topic came up incidentally, Locke had much to say about it. He dedicated an
entire chapter in his Treatise to discussing property and its importance in the laws of nature and
government.
Throughout Chapter V of his Second Treatise,
Locke uses the term property ...to connote that something is one s own, either inclusively or
exclusively. That is, anything which is in any sense one s own is one s property. This seems to be the
conventional seventeenth century use of the term (Tully 112).
Locke argues that natural reason...tells us, that men, being once born, have a right to their preservation
(Locke 352). After establishing this principle, Locke continues to surmise that God has given the
earth...to mankind in common. But this being supposed, it seems to some a very great difficulty how
any one should ever come to have a property in any thing (Locke 353). This puzzling question may
have different answers that all seem relative. Nonetheless, says Locke, every man is his own property
and this nobody has a right to but himself (Locke 353). But, beyond this view, where else does private
property originate?
According to Locke, common property becomes individual property the moment one adds his or her
labor to it. As Locke argues,

Constitutionality of Stop and Frisk
Abstract
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects one s rights against unreasonable
searches and seizures. It also states that no warrants shall be issued without probable cause. Probable
cause can be defined as a person of reasonable caution who believes that a crime has been committed
and the person accused has committed that crime. Modern law has afforded police officers an
incentive to respect this amendment, known as the stop and frisk act. The Stop and Frisk law allows
police officers to stop someone and do a quick search of their outer clothing for weapons: if the officer

On October 31, 1963, a Cleveland police detective named Martin McFadden saw two men, John W.
Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking suspicious. One would walk by a
certain store window, stare in, and walk back to the other to confer. This was repeated several times,
and the detective believed that they were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer approached the

in their answers, Officer McFadden patted them down and discovered that both men were armed. He
proceeded to remove their guns and arrested them for carrying concealed weapons. Terry was then

The Importance Of Drinking Water
Introduction
Body Paragraph #1 Background:
The absolute most important thing to human life is water, without water all life on Earth would not
exist. Thankfully water quality is highly important and monitored to ensure its safety for human
consumption. According to the U.S. Geological Survey s (USGS) Water Science School over 96% of
the Earths, water is Ocean salt water, making less than 4% of drinkable water more valuable. (Where s
the World s Water? 2016). Having clean drinking water is not only important for our survival as
humans, but it is also important because it prevents the development of various types of diseases that
can take out villages or small cities with one outbreak. According to Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention about, 2,200 children die every day as a result of diarrheal diseases, due to unsafe drinking
water 88% of these deaths are due to inadequate availability of water for hygiene, and lack of access
to sanitation. (Global Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH, 2015). Taking the necessary steps and
precautions to ensure everyone has access to clean water can reduce the threats of many diseases.
Body Paragraph # 2 Objective:
In the experiment, a series of test will be conducted, logged, and introduced to several contaminants in
order to make the water undrinkable. The contaminated water will then be filtered through several
different techniques designed to make the water fit for consumption again. The entire process with

seven different facets of social media usage. Those being: Identity, bullying, privacy, addiction,
danger, inequality, literacy, and being public. Boyd uses countless personal interviews with teenagers
varying in age but primarily teens ranging from ages 13 17. Her main objective throughout the novel
is to empathize with today s youth to better understand how and why they use social media. She
believes that a lack of understanding by older generations is what leads to the negative stigma around
the younger generation and it s social media usage. Throughout the book you can find thematic
elements of power, social norms, and race. Boyd believes the teen network phenomenon is not a
completely new concept but one that is a deviation from past events. The introduction of any new

Should Nuclear Power Plants Be Banned
Should nuclear power plants be banned?
Nuclear power plants have been around for many years. The first nuclear power plant was built in
1954. The controversy over them is whether they are harmful or beneficial to the environment and to
humans. We as humans tend use a lot of energy. Nuclear power plants are so called a strong candidate
for supplying our energy. There are many harmful remarks on nuclear power plants, and today I am
here to talk about why they should be potentially reduced if not banned. For starters it can lead to
cancer for children young of age, it can be used a weapon for destroying or targeting our country, and
how expensive they are related to other fuel factors. For instance, nuclear power plants are shown to
have an effect on kids with cancer. According to Ten Strikes Against Nuclear Power, There are
growing concerns that living near even accident free nuclear plants increases the risk for childhood
leukemia and other cancers. One Texas study found increased cancer rates in north central Texas since
a nuclear power plant was established in 1990, and a recent German study found childhood leukemia
clusters near several nuclear power sites in Europe (source 2). These power plants are causing
innocent kids to get cancer and leukemia which plays a huge role in a child s life who suffers from
one. Even though it is accident free it can still lead to other types of accidents. In many cases nuclear
power plants can be used as a weapon for many things involving nuclear. According to Ten Strikes
Against Nuclear Power, Nuclear reactors represent a clear national security risk, and an attractive
target for terrorists (source 2). Nuclear missiles, bombs, and other sorts of weapons can be used to
destroy or target our country. Robert Kennedy had found out that there are at least eight relatively easy
ways to cause a major meltdown at a nuclear power plant (source 2). Most nuclear power plants are
used as a target and advantage for war on other countries, including ours. In addition to the reasons
why nuclear power plants are harmful is the fact that they cost so much money to build. According to
What is Nuclear? Nuclear reactors are generally large and complex, with lots of reinforced

The Influence Of Hadrian On The Roman Empire
Hadrian ruled the Roman Empire at the time it was considered the greatest empire in the history of the
world. According to Elizabeth Speller, Hadrian was the first Roman Emperor who went beyond the
common stereotype of good and bad Roman leaders (Speller 230 288). She describes his regime as
that which had a wavering beginning, a celebrated middle and a disastrous ending. He is known for
having made several travels and visiting almost all the provinces during his regime. However, his
travels were not pleasure oriented but rather driven by his determination to see the Roman Empire get
to the top by constantly keeping in check the discipline of the army around the provinces and ensuring
that the provinces had the right administration. Being the fourteenth Roman Emperor, Hadrian is
ranked third among the five best emperors who ever ruled the Roman Empire and emerged as the few
leaders who ruled justly. Speller also cites his great public speaking ability and his excellent
philosophical knowledge as some of the reasons which made him more powerful and projected his
authority. Therefore, it is important to note that there are several attributes, deeds and projects that
Hadrian used to project his authority and power.
Romans remember him for his massive contribution to the empire by actively taking part in projects
involving building where he built one of the greatest walls in the world knows as the Hadrian s Wall.
Even though he spent much time travelling and away from Rome

Boeing Pros And Cons
When analyzing investment decisions, we did not consider in any detail the largest investment
decisions that most firms make, i.e., their acquisitions of other firms. Boeing s largest investment of
the last decade was not a new commercial aircraft but its acquisition of McDonnell Douglas in 1996.
At the time of the acquisition, Boeing s managers were optimistic about the merger, claiming that it
would create substantial value for the stockholders of both firms. What are the principles that govern
acquisitions? Should they be judged differently from other investments?
Firms are acquired for a number of reasons. In the 1960s and 1970s, firms such as Gulf and Western
and ITT built themselves into conglomerates by acquiring firms in other lines of business. In the
1980s, corporate giants like Time, Beatrice and RJR Nabisco were acquired by other ... Show more

Minorities In The Movie Crash
There is no denying that the criminal justice system is downright corrupt, unjust, and powerful. By
corrupt, the criminal justice system degrades the power it possesses to perform in its out most
potential. By unjust, the criminal justice system disposes of equal treatment and exhibits
discrimination of individuals of society. By powerful, the criminal justice system utilizes discretion
and fear to respond to situations that entail the lives of racial minorities. These ideas extend to a much
greater problem which is the disposition on minorities. There is the majority group, also known as the
dominant group, and there are the minority groups, also known as the subordinate group. The

The people of a minority group who are at a greater risk of being subjected to the criminal justice
system are the African Americans and Hispanics. It is not surprising these two groups are more prone,
yet throughout the remainder of this paper, certain concepts/themes will be further analyzed from a
chosen film to portray the reality minorities face with and in the criminal justice system and society.
The criminal justice system, in regards to the film Crash, was reflected in such a way that is
understood in today s system. For example, police officers were quick to perceive African Americans
as wrongful doing. The process of interrogation came down to force and inappropriate handling of an
African American woman. Such stop and frisk resulted in degrading the dignity of both African
American persons stopped by the White officers and the bad conduct performed by the older White

The earth is constantly changing and moving. That is why I believe in 1 million years that South
America and Africa will be far, far apart. I know this because of plate movement. In the
Geochronology map it shows that when plates spread a part which is a divergent boundary, then as
magma heats and cools, new sea floor is created and the old sea is pushed out with the continents. This
shows that the plates will keep spreading and causing the new ocean floor to be their and the more the

I end up this discussion by emphasizing that the basic procedure to find a market response is to
associate some measure of market return on securities with some measure of the information content
of the financial statements. I then review the 1968 Ball and Brown study. Since their methodology
takes some getting used to for students who have not seen it before, I stick fairly closely to the
coverage in Section 5.3, although the article itself could usefully be assigned as reading by instructors
who wish to consider BB s procedures in greater depth. I concentrate on explaining how BB
operationalized the measurements of market return and information content of net income. Figure 5.3
is useful in this regard. The figure also ties nicely back to the efficient securities market theory of
Chapter 4, and the discussion in Example 3.3 of the dichotomization of factors affecting share price
into market wide and firm specific factors (Example 3.3 is optional reading, however). I go on to
review briefly the ERC research outlined in Section 5.4, as an example of an important direction in
which the Ball and Brown methodology has developed. I concentrate on persistence as an explanatory

Family Marriage And Family
I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show
unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to
Balswick Balswick, (2014) continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and
self fulfillment. In today s society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment.
We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says
to commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act. Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when
we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God
designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to
Balswick Balswick (2014, Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become
one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness, (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing
that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death
do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. God
designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God,
(Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship.
Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as only being about sex. Balswick (2014)

Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift
Renowned author, Jonathan Swift, in a modest proposal, shares the answer to solving all of our
economic troubles. He suggests that we fatten our infants for a year or so, making them nice and
plump, then, sell them as livestock to the rich to devour as an exquisite cuisine. Now, I m not sure how
modest this proposal is, but I m all for it! A human arm, fried with salt and pepper sprinkled on top is
not the typical meal you will see at the dinner table in the average American household; although, it
would be a nice way to spice it up a bit.
Modern day cannibalism is practiced in many cultures around the world; however, it has been deemed
as insane and those who practice it, society rules them as drug addicts or mentally ill; however, these

An uninformed mind would believe that it is when people go around killing and eating people like
turkeys on Thanksgiving, well that is not completely correct. It is actually more complex than the
common man would expect. Non Survival Cannibalism has been present on the battlefield of many
wars. In some ways, it was used as a war tactic which required a soldier to eat another warrior or
soldier to petrify its enemies. During World War II, the Japanese were known for executing this war
strategy against nations including America. Now, don t get me wrong, I would fight for this country;
however, as I soldier, if I witnessed the enemy take a bite out of another man s arm, I m calling a
truce! *begin to wave white flag*. Other militants would participate in anthropophagy for the pure
desire of human flesh. Cambodian troops during the Khmer Rouge Rebellion in the 70 s devoured the
hearts and livers of their dead enemies on the battlefield which is pretty extreme. However, there are
some tribes who exercise non survival cannibalism for deeper religious meanings. The Aghori tribe
based in India is known for is traditions. The clan covers their bodies in the ashes of the deceased and
drink from the skulls of the departed which they into bowls to become spiritually enlightened. Josh

Oath Of The Horatii Analysis
I would agree with the statement that impressionism is often considered the first, true, modern art
style. Impressionism was birthed, in Paris, by artists whose works were deemed unacceptable for
display in the official salons sanctioned by the Royal Academy . As a reaction to the more traditional
linear style paintings, the impressionists focused on including the essential element of movement to
enhance the human experience and perspective. Impressionists abandoned traditional linear
perspective and avoided the clarity of form that had previously served to distinguish the more
important elements of a picture from the lesser ones ( Impressionism , n.d.). Impressionists aimed to
stray from the traditional perfectly liner and symmetrical forms in works of art by focusing on the
actual perception of the world, which was, perpetually, imperfect. One work of art that exhibits the
traditional linear style of art would be Jacques Louis David s painting, Oath of the Horatii, pictured
below. The linear characteristics seen in other traditional works of art are also clearly evident in the
schematic below of David s painting as all of the linear aspects of the painting exist to draw the viewer
s focus to their convergence at the central point. Impressionist paintings, however, were geared

  • 3. My Education, And The Influence Of Education When you compare the world I come from to the world of some others, I came from an exceptional world. Coming from a home with both parents, exceptional neighborhood, and growing up in church all my life has taught me many lessons in life that eventually influence many of my decisions. Where I come from has influenced me a lot. While I did grow up in a stable home, I also experienced many bad things in different surroundings in my life that have influenced me to focus on my education and make a difference in my community. I spent many summers staying with my grandmother who lived in a rough neighborhood. Spending time in that neighborhood during a number of summers have exposed me witnessing the struggle of many different people and also seeing people like my own brother be badly affected by his environment in a rough neighborhood being lead to make bad decisions in life. Seeing my brother drop out of high school, join a gang, and eventually end up in bad area in his life influenced me to pursue my education and go to college to be the best I could be so I wouldn t end up in the same position that he did. Not only did that experience influence me to want to pursue the best education I could but it also made me want to be able to use my education and life experiences to mentor others and show them the importance of pursuing an education and careers. When it comes to mentoring younger men and doing community outreach, I felt like the best way for me to help people and mentor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Body Mechanics Essay Body Mechanics Seminar Work related interventions are a central part of occupational therapy practice and occupational therapists recognize the importance of healthy engagement within the workplace (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2014; Wilcock Townsend as cited in AOTA, 2014). Occupational therapists possess skills necessary to assess individuals engaged in work activities and recognize potential dangers related to poor body mechanics (Opp, 2016). Opp (2016) acknowledged a recent increase in employers taking a proactive approach in preventing work related injuries and incorporating occupational therapists as means to evaluate the work environment and make practical recommendations to reduce the risk of workplace injury (Opp, 2016). • 5. Modernism In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead The movement of Modernism forced its way through the world in the early 20th century, and it faced mixed reviews from the citizens of both America and Europe. On one side, there were those who praised it and its dedication to individualism and its battle against architectural conservatism. This perspective is show in Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead through the eyes of the protagonist Howard Roark. Roark is a cold and uncompromising Modernist architect who believes that the ultimate crime of humanity is the generic, uninspired, and collectivist architecture that runs rampant through the city of New York. Housing projects were one of the top examples of what Roark saw as wrong with society; what some citizens saw as generous and comforting, Roark saw as conformist and comparable to the evil of the Nazis (Schleier, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roark s extreme perspective defined what it meant to be an architect for two generations. Ayn Rand called the summation of Howard Roark s ideas objectivism. This hyper Modernist viewpoint makes itself apparent in the plethora of skyscrapers and also in the praise and worship of these magnificent edifices. The skyscrapers reach towards the heavens, blotting out the sky and serving as a monument to the triumph of the individual over mediocrity. They are a product of the human mind and often took the place of sacred religious structures (Schleier, 322). No other inanimate object held as much power as the modern skyscraper, and those who designed them were meant to hold steadfast in both their ideas and their blueprints. On the other side of the Modernist battle, there were those who struggled against the Modernist urban renewal. They valued the tradition and culture that aged buildings nestled in their crumbling doorways and cracked windows. They wanted to continue constructing edifices that would tell stories and invite others in. This outlook was demonstrated in the film Mon Oncle, directed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Live Like You Were Dying Poem Analysis Early October 2016 to January 2017, was the hardest time ever in my life. In October we found out that my Grandpa had a very aggressive form of stage four brain cancer. We knew that there was something wrong but we never thought it would be that bad. For the next month, the doctors ran tests, decided on a game plan, and gave results. My grandpa was in severe pain and confusions. We got the results that he would need to go through surgery on his brain to remove the tumor. This was around November 15. That was probably the scariest day of my life. His surgery and I will never forget, was at 12:10 pm. I remember sitting at the kitchen counter and I just prayed for half an hour. After that, I remember going on my computer and searching on Google ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title of the song is the theme in itself, Live Like You Were Dying. Other quotes include, And a moment came that stopped me on a dime , Someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying , and Like tomorrow was a gift . These quotes really help us to understand the theme of living like we are dying. There are also poetic devices found in the song that drives home the theme. First is the imagery of the lyrics And a moment came that stopped me on a dime. This really means that this event stopped him all of a sudden, or suddenly. Another part of the song that shows a pattern is the ends of the first two lines when they use words like 40 and me, words that rhyme and are soft and then when you get to the third line that says Stopped me on a dime , dime is a hard word and really wakes you up . The rhymes, divin and climbin; deeper and sweeter; book and look, are words that show action and love. Words that show you are doing something with your life. There is also a play on words, I became a friend a friend would like to have. It means that he became a friend that someone would like to have. When the story begins, Italian immigrant turned farmer s wife Francesca is home alone while her husband and teenaged children show a steer at the Illinois State Fair. Robert, a travelling photographer assigned by National Geographic to shoot the Madison County bridges, stops by Francesca s home to ask for directions, leading to an affair. The next day, when Francesca sees Robert leave town and breaks down crying, xx After Francesca finished mourning Robert s departure, it is likely she and Richard worked on their relationship. They were never going to be perfect, but in the end, they lived a full life together. After Richard s death, Francesca reflects on this. xx It was worth staying in Madison County, but that does not mean it was perfect. In Francesca s letter, she recounts her husband s dying words. xx No matter how hard Richard tried, he was never everything Francesca wanted, but he wishes he could have been. Richard may never have understood his wife, but there is no doubt he loved her deeply. Richard Johnson, the plain farmer of Madison County, played as large a role in the events of The Bridges of Madison County as Francesca and Robert did, though he only appears in person on a handful of pages. He may have been out of sight often, but he was never forgotten and his influence is one of the strongest forces driving this story. Smoking kills more Americans each year than alcohol, crack, heroin, murder, suicide, car accidents, fires, and AIDS all put together. Every week, eight children under the age of eighteen die from alcohol related crashes. Alcohol abuse contributes to almost 50% of all traffic accidents, suicides, and homicides. However, despite the proven dangers of these socially acceptable drugs, they are still legal. Oddly enough, these hearings were bases solely on the propaganda of the media. When the American Medical Association (AMA) came forward to state, among other things, that there was no proof that marijuana was at all harmful and that prohibiting the drug would severely compromise physicians abilities to utilize the therapeutic qualities of the plant, AMA Legislative Council Dr. William C. • 9. Beowulf s Heroic Code Beowulf remains one of the most important works of English literature though it was written centuries ago. One reason for this fact is that many of the themes that it touches on are still pertinent in today s extremely different society. One of the most prevalent themes found in Beowulf is the importance of the heroic code. Much of this epic poem is dedicated to conveying and exemplifying the heroic code which values such attributes as strength, courage and honor. Conflicting with this ideology are other factors such as Christianity, and these tensions affect the lives and decisions of the narrative s characters. Over the course of the poem, Beowulf matures from a gallant warrior into a wise leader. This transition illustrates that a sometimes conflicting code of values goes along with each of his roles. In Germanic societies, such as the one in which Beowulf takes place, there were heroic codes which defined how a noble person should act. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning he is a brave fighter, but by the end, he has become a wise and noble king. This transition shows that perhaps a different code is necessary to fulfill these different roles. These sets of values illustrate early on in the poem the contrary outlooks of Beowulf and Hrothgar. Early in the poem, Beowulf is young, brave and has no one to worry about but himself. Because of this he can risk everything in his quest for personal glory. Hrothgar, on the other hand, is responsible for the lives of many people, and therefore seeks their safety rather than his own honor. Hrothgar s example becomes invaluable to Beowulf in preparation for the time when he will take the throne. He learns that as a king, it is his duty to praise his warriors as well as protect his people. Hrothgar emphasizes the importance of creating a stable environment. • 10. Pre Colonial And Colonial Settlements Essay Pre colonial and Colonial Settlements Pre colonial settlement began in the United States when Paleo Indians, now known as Native Americans, crossed the Bering Strait, an ice bridge that connected the Eastern and Western Hemisphere. This was a crossover from Russia into to United States in which large groups began to settle and form a life. Although this large groups would constantly move around, in which they are known as Nomads, primarily the United States was their new found home. They would endure activities such as fishing and hunting as basic survival skills. Around 1492, European nations came to the Americas to increase their wealth and broaden their influence over world affairs. The Spanish were among the first Europeans to explore the New World. (Colonial America, n.d.) This exploration led to more groups of people travelling to seek a better world. By 1650, however, England had established a dominant presence on the Atlantic coast. The first colony was founded at Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607. Many of the people who settled in the New World came to escape religious persecution. The Pilgrims, founders of Plymouth, Massachusetts, arrived in 1620. (Colonial America, n.d.) TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported experiencing TDV between the ages of 11 17 (CDC, 2014). Also, nearly 2 million workdays are lost to domestic violence annually and overall domestic violence costs the United States $67 billion dollars, annually (NCADV, n.d.). IPV causes a huge lapse in profitability and productivity. Using Public Service Announcements to Address other Public Health Issues Among Adolescents Public service announcements have long been a tool of public health professionals and organizations to prevent public health crises through awareness and instruction. For this intervention, public service announcements via television and radio stations will be implemented to bring about prevention of teen dating violence. Anti tobacco campaigns have utilized public service announcements to campaign the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption as well as raise awareness regarding cessation resources. In 2000, California held a media campaign that accounted for a 2 3% reduction in the sales of cigarette packs. Despite the seemingly low effect of media campaigning, it has been proven that each dollar invested in the anti tobacco advertising results into a per capita decrease of 7.7 packs of cigarettes (Atkin, ... If their basic needs are not being met, then they will have difficulty reaching esteem and self actualization. In the context of a complaint against an attorney for malpractice, the California Court of Appeal recently clarified its application under existing precedent and held the anti SLAPP statute did not apply to claims against attorneys by former clients. In Loanvest I, LLC v. At the trial level, the court granted the defendant law firm s special motion to strike under the anti SLAPP statute, finding that the malpractice claim was based upon an act in furtherance of the protected right of petition. Violence and gore are not uncommon themes in art, however, few paintings depict bloodshed and power with such resounding naturalism as Artemisia Gentileschi s work titled Judith Slaying Holofernes . The work is an oil on canvas completed in the Baroque era sometime between 1614 to 1620, and depicts Judith and her maidservant holding down the struggling Holofernes as Judith pulls a sword through his neck. Gentileschi utilizes a combination of chiaroscuro and diagonal lines to not only create the lifelikeness and drama of the moment, but also to demonstrate the motions of the struggle as well as continually draw the focus back to the goriest part of the scene with the bloody head of Holofernes. In addition to Gentileschi s use of chiaroscuro to provide lifelikeness and focus, she poses Holofernes, the maidservant, and Judith at natural angles that provide an idea of the strength involved for maidservant to hold Holofernes down and for Judith to pull the sword through this neck while gripping the hair and beard. Similarly, the maidservant s back is positioned at a steep angle demonstrating the amount of weight she would be placing into her upper body and arms to hold Holofernes down as he pushes back on her with his right arm. Property in Second Treatise of Civil Government and Robinson Crusoe Both John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil Government and Daniel Defoe s Robinson Crusoe deal with the question of property. These questions may be answered by looking at each author s political views, followed by how they are incorporated in their work. The controversy over them is whether they are harmful or beneficial to the environment and to humans. We as humans tend use a lot of energy. Nuclear power plants are so called a strong candidate for supplying our energy. There are many harmful remarks on nuclear power plants, and today I am here to talk about why they should be potentially reduced if not banned. For starters it can lead to cancer for children young of age, it can be used a weapon for destroying or targeting our country, and how expensive they are related to other fuel factors. For instance, nuclear power plants are shown to have an effect on kids with cancer. According to Ten Strikes Against Nuclear Power, There are growing concerns that living near even accident free nuclear plants increases the risk for childhood leukemia and other cancers. One Texas study found increased cancer rates in north central Texas since a nuclear power plant was established in 1990, and a recent German study found childhood leukemia clusters near several nuclear power sites in Europe (source 2). These power plants are causing innocent kids to get cancer and leukemia which plays a huge role in a child s life who suffers from one. Even though it is accident free it can still lead to other types of accidents. In many cases nuclear power plants can be used as a weapon for many things involving nuclear. She describes his regime as that which had a wavering beginning, a celebrated middle and a disastrous ending. Being the fourteenth Roman Emperor, Hadrian is ranked third among the five best emperors who ever ruled the Roman Empire and emerged as the few leaders who ruled justly. Speller also cites his great public speaking ability and his excellent philosophical knowledge as some of the reasons which made him more powerful and projected his authority. I concentrate on persistence as an explanatory variable for the ERC since this concept is Copyright 2009 Pearson Education Canada 128 Instructor s Manual Chapter 5 useful in understanding and motivating the reporting of unusual, non recurring, and extraordinary items (Section 5.5), and it appears ... • 32. Family Marriage And Family I am learning many things about family, marriage and relationships. God wants us to show unconditional love towards others as he has showed us. Marriage takes commitment, according to Balswick Balswick, (2014) continued commitment in modern marriage is contingent on happiness and self fulfillment. In today s society it seems like convenience is more of a priority than commitment. We must first be committed to our God who is wholeheartedly committed to us. In Psalms 37:5 it says to commit your way to the lord trust in him, and he will act. Marriage is difficult, but it is easier when we depend on God and not man. Some of the things I will discuss are family, marriage and what God designed it for. I will also talk about my own experience with marriage and family. According to Balswick Balswick (2014, Marriage is the process whereby a man and a woman marry and become one, yet maintain their individual distinctiveness, (p. 4). This is a very sensitive topic for me seeing that I have two failed marriages. When I walked down the aisle and made that commitment until death do us part I did not realize that it would not be death but selfishness that pulled us part instead. God designed marriage to provide, partnerships, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God, (Heffernan, 2014, p. 7). I now understand what intimacy is and how important it is in a relationship. Many individuals including myself mistake intimacy as only being about sex. Balswick (2014) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Modest Proposal By Jonathan Swift Renowned author, Jonathan Swift, in a modest proposal, shares the answer to solving all of our economic troubles. He suggests that we fatten our infants for a year or so, making them nice and plump, then, sell them as livestock to the rich to devour as an exquisite cuisine. Now, I m not sure how modest this proposal is, but I m all for it! A human arm, fried with salt and pepper sprinkled on top is not the typical meal you will see at the dinner table in the average American household; although, it would be a nice way to spice it up a bit. Modern day cannibalism is practiced in many cultures around the world; however, it has been deemed as insane and those who practice it, society rules them as drug addicts or mentally ill; however, these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An uninformed mind would believe that it is when people go around killing and eating people like turkeys on Thanksgiving, well that is not completely correct. It is actually more complex than the common man would expect. Non Survival Cannibalism has been present on the battlefield of many wars. In some ways, it was used as a war tactic which required a soldier to eat another warrior or soldier to petrify its enemies. During World War II, the Japanese were known for executing this war strategy against nations including America. Now, don t get me wrong, I would fight for this country; however, as I soldier, if I witnessed the enemy take a bite out of another man s arm, I m calling a truce! *begin to wave white flag*. Other militants would participate in anthropophagy for the pure desire of human flesh. Cambodian troops during the Khmer Rouge Rebellion in the 70 s devoured the hearts and livers of their dead enemies on the battlefield which is pretty extreme. However, there are some tribes who exercise non survival cannibalism for deeper religious meanings. The Aghori tribe based in India is known for is traditions. The clan covers their bodies in the ashes of the deceased and drink from the skulls of the departed which they into bowls to become spiritually enlightened. Josh Clark, the Senior writer at How Stuff Works, explains that some humans believe that certain parts of the body contain mystical properties that can be transferred from one human to another through ingestion . These individuals also believed strongly in the symbolic value of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Oath Of The Horatii Analysis I would agree with the statement that impressionism is often considered the first, true, modern art style. Impressionism was birthed, in Paris, by artists whose works were deemed unacceptable for display in the official salons sanctioned by the Royal Academy . As a reaction to the more traditional linear style paintings, the impressionists focused on including the essential element of movement to enhance the human experience and perspective. Impressionists abandoned traditional linear perspective and avoided the clarity of form that had previously served to distinguish the more important elements of a picture from the lesser ones ( Impressionism , n.d.). Impressionists aimed to stray from the traditional perfectly liner and symmetrical forms in works of art by focusing on the actual perception of the world, which was, perpetually, imperfect. One work of art that exhibits the traditional linear style of art would be Jacques Louis David s painting, Oath of the Horatii, pictured below. The linear characteristics seen in other traditional works of art are also clearly evident in the schematic below of David s painting as all of the linear aspects of the painting exist to draw the viewer s focus to their convergence at the central point. Impressionist paintings, however, were geared towards portraying nature in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
