Use Of Effective And Efficient Communication
Clinical Question In the clinical health care setting, health care professionals such as nurses, use
effective communication tools such as handoffs and bedside reporting. Handoffs has been the main
known communication method used to transfer critical information that leads to a continuity of care
and safety for the patient. Bedside reporting allows the oncoming nurse to physically see the patient,
allowing questions to be asked and participation. Effective and efficient communication has been the
main focus of many research studies that observe, analyze and evaluate the methods like bedside
reporting and handoffs. The main question is: Does one method improve patient care and safety over
the other?
Significance of Problem
As the health care field has evolved over the years, ineffective handoffs may pose a potential risk in
patient care and safety which may include wrong placement surgery, medication errors or patient
death (Friesen, White Byers, 2008). It has been done traditionally at the nurse s station and research
has displayed that uneventful episodes or accidents were more likely to occur during the shift report
(Ofori Atta, 2015).
Purpose of Paper In this paper, Appraising the Evidence: Bedside Report Vs. Handoff , the main focus
is to interpret two articles that undergoes research for bedside reporting and handoff and if one method
improves patient safety and outcome over the other. Interpreting of these articles will like at the
positive and negative aspects

Neuromuscular Dysphagia Treatment
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is a type of therapy used as a form of treatment for
swallowing disorders (dysphagia). This method involves placing electrodes on one or several external
sites on the anterior neck to which an electrical current is applied to peripheral tissue targets (Clark,
Lazarus, Arvedson, Schooling, Frymark, 2009, p 362). it is hypothesized that such stimulation aims to
improve function by strengthening the swallowing musculature or by stimulating the sensory
pathways relevant to swallowing or both. To facilitate strengthening, muscle contractions elicited via
NMES generally recruit larger and more motor units than voluntary contractions, causing metabolic
responses within the muscle tissue that ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary diagnosis associated with these participants dysphagia is stroke in three out of the six
participants , and all participants were under the age of 90 (Carnaby Mann and Crary, 2008). The
investigation was about whether NMES was effective treatment for swallowing disorders. The
participants had to obtain a score of 23 or greater on the mini mental state examination (MMSE) and a
score of 5 or less on the Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS), and lastly the participants could not
have received swallowing therapy within the last three months (Carnaby Mann and Crary 2008).
Before therapy began baseline scores were collected including clinical and instrumental swallowing
evaluation, documentation of weight and the participants of self perception of swallowing ability. The
Mann Assessment of swallowing ability (MASA) was used to assess swallowing ability. A
videofluoroscopic swallowing evaluation was conducted to confirm the presence of pharyngeal
dysphagia (Carnaby Mann and Crary 2008). Materials used in this examination were thin liquid,
nectar thick liquid, and pudding in both 5ml 10ml amounts, and modified per participant. Effort was
made to present each material to each participant, but if participant aspirated in large quantities the

The Public Broadcasting Service At The Super Bowl Halftime
The Public Broadcasting Service which was founded in 1970 was the first network to ever show
nudity on television. Once in 1975 and a rerun in 1986, ever since then it had been escalating. It
started off with full frontal female nudity, at the time it wasn t too bothersome, but since then, time has
been changing. As of 2004 and because of Janet Jackson s breast during the live performance at the
super bowl halftime show caused a moral panic causing the Federal Communications Commissions to

Anyone who has seen the show will tell you that it is about a man addicted to alcohol, drugs and sex.
At times it may seem like he is selfish and fears no consequences for his actions. Some may even say
he is a womanizer who doesn t respect or even care for the women he speaks to. As the show goes on,
it is clear that there is more to Hank than just booze, cigarettes and females. He is still in love with his
ex; Karen who is played by Natascha McElhone. He is a father of a 12 year old girl named Becca
whom he shares with Karen, the love of his life, or so he thinks. After moving to Los Angeles, he
suffers from writer s block and gets caught up in the cities superficiality and shallowness. This causes
Hank to get deeper into his self destructive tendencies. The relationship he has with his daughter is
quite abnormal, although she is 12 she s been exposed to more mature things which has caused her to
grow up a bit quicker. Hank being the alcoholic he is falls asleep on the couch during his turn to take
of Becca. She gives him a blanket, blanket, and even makes breakfast for him in the mornings. Becca
even asks about Hank s vasectomy he gets done in one episode and asks him how the boys are doing .
To most people this would seem a bit inappropriate and even child neglect. In the first episode, it starts
off with Hank running out of a woman s bed whose husband just got home. First thing being portrayed
could be is that he has no morals, why

Anteaters Research Paper
Anteaters are edentates. Edentates are animals that do not have teeth. Anteaters do not eat apples, but
they eat about 30,000 ants and terminates a day. The anteater uses its large sharp claws to rip open an
anthill or termite mound. Then he uses a very long, sticky tongue to catch them. Anteaters walk on
their knuckles so their long claws don t hurt them. A baby anteater is called a pup and rides on its
mom s back for about a year. When an anteater feels threatened, it will stand on its hind legs, hold its
arms out wide and show its claws. Can you stand up tall, hold out your arms and spread your fingers

The Neo Classical Model Of Economics
MONETARISM The 1930 s saw the neo classical model of economics, championed by Walras and
Mengers, crumble as rates of unemployment rose exponentially on a global scale. In the midst of this
economic crisis Keynes offered solution to the crisis in his 1936 General theory of Employment,
Interests and Money . He successfully argued that the state was alone capable of steering the economy
to produce social stability and social justice (Valentine, 2003) Thus the post war consensus was
formed and consequentially the centre ground of politics redefined, Keynesianism socialist model
would hold sway for the quarter century following World War II. The decade of the 1970s was
characterized by high and rising inflation and slow economic growth (Jahan and Papageorgiou, 2014).
Keynesianism couldn t answer the soaring inflation, Hayek, who warned Keynesianism was a road to
serfdom (The Economist, 2013) and Friedman s neoliberal model could and Thatcher recognised this.
The essential economic task of Thatcher was the desertion of Keynesian macro economics (Valentine,
2013). The result was an adoption of Monetarism, a belief in controlling the money supply as a means
of controlling inflation (Viven, 2003). The 1970 s economy was corroded to the breaking point due to
the clout of the unions. Edward Heaths Conservative government was plagued by continuous strikes
that led to the declaration of the three day working week. Inflation was rising as high as 24%, with one

The Psilocybin Mush Rooms-Personal Narrative Essay
Rolling hills, worn down shacks with baron farmland, signs saying conserve your water, California.

hippies, home to some of the best music of all time and, well known for it s groovy vibes. After a
quick stop by Fisherman s Wharf and a few twists down Lombard Street, we arrived at the intersection

Bladder cancer is a cancer that forms in a person s bladder and often begins with cells that line the
bladder. The early symptoms of bladder cancer are blood in the urine, frequent or painful urination,
back or pelvic pain.
My father had bladder cancer in his early 90 s and I did not give much thought to what caused the
cancer since most of his siblings had previously passed due to some form of cancer. However, I have
now learned that bladder cancer is mainly common in someone that is older than 55 years of age with
an average age at diagnosis of 73. Diagnosis of bladder cancer in someone younger than the age of 40
is very rare but it still could happen at any age. Bladder cancer is also more common in men than

Rappaccini s Daughter, By Susanna Rowson
Literature has historically been a means of passing traditions down, providing entertainment, inspiring
creative ideas, and transferring knowledge through several generations. In society, literature can be
embraced for its innovation or condemned for the values it intently expresses against societal,
political, and even religious views. Social criticism in literature is meant to directly or subtly call out
the flaws in the social structure in an attempt to create awareness or evoke reforms. Many literary
works invent characters who either gladly embrace gender and sexuality norms or are predisposed to
them and live unconsciously, but are ultimately ruined in the end as a means to show the issue with
definitive terms that categorize individuals. In 1791, British American novelist Susanna Rowson
published her novel Charlotte Temple in England, and later it published in 1794 in the United ... Show

The story describes the life of a young woman who is engineered into romantically falling in love with
the soldier John Montraville and eloped to America with him. Leaving behind her family and morals
that she grew up on, Charlotte Temple faces struggles and hard times as she is ultimately abandoned in
a new country. American gothic novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne created the short story Rappaccini s
Daughter in 1844, and it depicts a young student, Giovanni Guasconti, and his travels to Italy for
school. Living next to a discrete scientist whose daughter tends to the garden in their backyard,
Giovanni investigates the beautiful creature to find that she had been converted to a science
experiment by her father s doing. These two works purposefully incorporate sexual connotations and
marginalized female protagonists to criticize societal gender roles set for females and the
hypersexualized nature that women are

New Football Stadium Of Las Vegas
New football stadium coming to Las Vegas
Excitement has engulfed Nevada following the news that a new stadium could soon grace the world
famous Las Vegas Strip. On August 26, The Las Vegas Review Journal reported that a 62 acre piece of
land belonging to a consortium of banks from New York and Dallas was favored as the venue to host
the $1.9 billion, 62,000 sitter Raiders football arena. The banking consortium operating under the
Nevada Land Group LLC includes Credit Suisse Management, Barclays Bank, NexBank, and
Highland Capital Management. The much sought swathes of land lie west of Mandalay bay and
Interstate 15. The cost of land, and undisclosed site infrastructure is expected to cost between $350
million to $400 million. The deal, whose details are yet to be fully revealed, is a partnership between
Raiders Football Team, Las Vegas Sands Corporation and the state of Nevada.
If the plans are realized, a company called Majestic Realty will be tasked with building the ultra
modern stadium. Owing to the stadium revelations, the Raiders is planning to write to the Football
governing body, the National Football League to request for permission to relocate the franchise to
Las Vegas from its current base at Oakland Alameda Coliseum in Oakland California. The multi
purpose stadium was constructed in the mid 60 s is shared by both professional baseball and football
clubs. The seating capacity for football and baseball stadiums is 56,000 and 35,000 respectively. It is

The rise of seaside resorts
In 1752 Dr Richard Russell published Concerning the Use of Sea Water which led to an increase in
seaside resorts as doctors began to realise that the healing and relaxing minerals that were present in
spa waters were also to be found in the sea. Resorts such as Southend, Brighton and Blackpool began
to increase in popularity. Accommodation, catering and entertainment facilities were developed in the
resorts, some of which benefited from the introduction of steamboat services in the early nineteenth
century, a factor that led to the contribution of many of the piers still seen at seaside resorts today.
The introduction of holiday camps
The first purpose built holiday camp was opened by Billy Butlin in 1936 at Skegness. Holiday camps
worked on the simple principle that if the children were happy on holiday then the parents would be
happy as well. Holiday camps provided entertainment and activities for both parents and children at a
low, all inclusive rate with the added bonus of a child minding service to allow the parents to enjoy
themselves. Butlin s and Warners became market leaders in this type of holiday which still survives to
this day.

Napoleon Hero or Tyrant?
Napoleon Bonaparte goes down in history as one the greatest military commanders of all time. Many
consider him a hero of the French people and the people of the conquered lands spreading his reforms
everywhere. Others believe that he is a tyrant, oppressing citizens and engaging in aggressive
unnecessary wars. This is a controversial topic and both sides can bring up compelling arguments.
First we must define a hero and tyrant, a hero is someone who is courageous, brave and positively
impacts people around him and leaves a legacy. Napoleon directly fits that definition. A tyrant is a
cruel oppressive ruler who treats people unfairly. Napoleon Bonaparte leaves a heroic legacy due to
the actions in his life such as being a brave and courageous soldier, furthering public works in France

crumbling government. He organized a coup d etat, overthrew the government and rose to power. He
heroically crowned himself emperor. He won over the people s trust after being victorious at his first
battle by driving the british out of Toulon. Napoleon was fair and set up a consulate, a three man
governing board. Another way Napoleon shows heroic traits is by giving power to the people with the
Plebiscites, allowing the people to have a fair voting system. As a military commander, Napoleon
fought in the front lines with his men. He had strong leadership, good tactics, new plans every battle,

Features of Decision Making in a Political System
WHAT FEATURES OF DECISION MAKING IN POLITICAL SYSTEMS INFLUENCE THE
PRACTICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS?
INTRODUCTION
The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led to a
demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the
decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a
plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure,
accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. This stems from the
fact that issues that are significant in one political system might not be as significant in another
(Lowery, Poppelaars and Berkhout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand with
EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather grant
access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues.
With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on
influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008) as
they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government
(Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly
business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective
business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect
businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007).
The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the
practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and human,
to carry out their activities. The EU commission is highly short staffed, and in need of OCS to provide
technical information and act as contributory agents (Greenwood 2007). Therefore, OCS play
consultative and cooperative roles particularly in the Commission as

Summary Of The Actual Facts Of The Eric Garner Case
On July 17th of last year Eric Garner was stopped by the police to be confronted about selling untaxed
loose cigarettes illegally. Eric Garner verbally resisted arrest by arguing with the cops about the terms
of his arrest. After bickering for a few minutes the cops proceed to perform a chokehold like
maneuver, which acted as a catalyst toward the imminent death that would come of Garner. Prior to
Garner s encounter with Daniel Pantaleo his aggressor and rest of the NYPD cops, he already had
several health issues such as diabetes and asthma. Consequently, this sparked a powder key of
mammoth proportions, with outbreaks of destructive riots and protests. Furthermore, two notable
contrasting interpretations of this controversial case are those of CNN s news article titled Key figures
in Eric Garner case speak out one year later written on July 17, 2015 by David Shortell which leans
more toward the side of Garner, as they uncovered information on how unjust and insufficient the
police and EMT protocol followed, on the other hand there is the article by Breitbart that is greatly in
favor of police officer Pantaleo titled The Actual Facts of The Eric Garner Case Written on December

The beginnings and ends of what we choose to call centuries are almost invariably years of little
significance. But there is little agreement over when the twentieth century c.e. arrived, and there were
several points both before the year 2000 (the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reunification of
Germany, the surge of globalization from the mid 1990s) and afterward (9/11, or the global recession
of 2008) when one could quite plausibly argue that a new era had begun. A compelling case can be
made for viewing the decades of the global scramble for colonies after 1870 as a predictable
culmination of the long nineteenth century, which was ushered in by the industrial and political
revolutions of the late 1700s. But at the same time, without serious attention to the processes and
misguided policies that led to decades of agrarian and industrial depression from the late 1860s to the
1890s, as well as the social tensions and political rivalries that generated and were in turn fed by
imperialist expansionism, one cannot begin to comprehend the causes and consequences of the Great
War that began in 1914. That conflict determined the contours of the twentieth century in myriad
ways. On the one hand, the war set in motion transformative processes that were clearly major
departures from those that defined the nineteenth century world order. On the other, it perversely

Vasoconstriction Research Paper
Humans help maintain their body temperature by wearing clothes. When someone is surrounded by
something that is cooler than their body temperature, like air, or water, the body will lose heat.
Although clothing and shelter helps people stay warm, our body has adapted vasoconstriction as a way
to keep critical organs warm. Vasoconstriction is the tightening of blood vessels. Vasoconstriction
causes the blood flow to reduce which conserves body heat. However, vasoconstriction can also lead
to numbness, loss of hands, fingers and etc. The human body also uses shivering to maintain body
temperature. For example, shivering increases internal heat production by causing the muscles to
contract and relax rapidly.
Heat loss from the body primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frostnip occurs when water on the skins surface freezes. When recognizing frostnip some signs and
symptoms you should look for are: if the skin appears red and swollen, area is still painful and
repeated frostnip in the same area. When caring for frostnip you should gently warm the affected area.
You can do this by placing it against a warm body part. However, do not rub the affected area.
Frostbite is when the skins tissue becomes damage. This only happens in below freezing temperatures.
When recognizing a superficial frostbite, the skin should be white or grayish yellow, the affect part
should be cold and numb and the skin surface will feel stiff. When recognizing a deep frostbite, the
affect part should feel very hard, blisters might appear, or if the affected pain stops hurting. When
caring for a frostbite victim, first get the victim out of the cold and into a warm place. Next, remove
any wet clothing and seek medical attention. After, if the affect part is partially thawed, place the
affected area in warm water. After thawing: treat the victim as a stretcher case is the feet is affected.
Also, protect the area from contact. Furthermore, place a dry, sterile gauze between the toes and the
fingers to absorb moisture. Then, slightly elevate the affected area. If advised by a physician, apply
aloe vera gel, this will help the skin heal. Lastly, give the victim an aspirin, this will help limit the pain

Life Of Pi Close Reading Analysis

Yann Martel manipulates the narrative style and structural devices within this passage to support the
will to survive theme that is present in Life of Pi. Before the shipwreck, Pi was a spiritual individual
with a strong appreciation for the joy and peace in life. Pi commonly experienced cruelty and doubt
from his family and friends; however, he remained calm by following the guidance from his three
religions. After the shipwreck, the spirituality within Pi s life was tampered with because the chaotic
and brute actions of the animals threatened to separate Pi from his peaceful demeanour. At first, Pi
maintained his interaction with God, but as the days passed and the conditions worsened, Pi s animal
instincts began to develop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard Parker is a manifestation of the qualities that Pi needs; however, an abundance of these
qualities will contribute to Pi s downfall. This concept is also represented later in the book when the
blind French cook tries to trick Pi. The cook s primitive side overpowered him, causing him to die in
the jaws of Richard Parker. If Pi did not tame his savagery, he would have been consumed by it, which
would be represented by a fatal attack from Richard Parker. While contemplating the confrontation of
his survival instincts, Pi says, to know that and to apply it are two very different things (Martel 246).
This quotation describes the concept of survival in a lifeboat and in the real world. In both settings, it
is difficult to deny yourself access to something that is lurking inside of you and pushing with so
much force. Whether this quality is easily spotted or difficult to uncover, it is important to study it and
decide if it is changing your character. Fortunately, Pi discovered early in his journey that the
primitive qualities he was developing for survival were threatening to dominate him. After taming his
savagery, Pi is pleased with his decisions and says Isn t that what all survivors say? (Martel 247). This
quotation depicts the satisfaction in taming your inner self, while still allowing your fierce qualities to

is a mother figure to Juliet and is her main confidant. The nurse makes several important contributions
in the play by helping Juliet with her affairs with Romeo, as well as offering Juliet information,
comfort, and advice. One of the most influential contributions to the plot of the play that the nurse

Forgiveness Vs. Condemnation In Dante Alighieri s The...
As the second part of Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy, The Purgatorio serves as an allegorical bridge
between the two other works, much like Purgatory serves as a bridge into Heaven. Purgatory is
characterized by repentance as sinners here are given the chance to work towards redemption, as
opposed to Hell where sinners are punished for eternity with no hope for forgiveness. The idea of
forgiveness versus condemnation can be seen in the comparison of Cato and Virgil, a man forgiven
and a man condemned. Cato, like Virgil, died before the birth of Christ but repented in the final
moments of his life and was given a place in Purgatory, despite being a pagan and committing suicide.
Cato s story proves that choosing repentance is the key and Virgil, ... Show more content on

The psychological implications of nature versus nurture in one s later life and development have been
contested for years, and I have a tendency to stick very close to the middle; I believe Dante would as
well. He gives a very clear answer as to whose responsibility it is (our own) to make decisions and
gain entrance into Purgatory, while also making some concessions for circumstance and nature, for
Virgil says the only road I could have taken was the road I took, (I 62 63) emphasising how he was
constrained by the options available. But this constrainment does not, in any way, alleviate the
responsibility we have for our own souls, but instead teaches us that we should act the best we can,
given our lives and histories, in order to be the most virtuous people we can be. The view is also
somewhat more forgiving than other interpretations, as it is always possible to return to the path and
Goodness has arms so wide that It accepts whoever would return (III 122 123). This belief in
redemption mimics my own belief in the human ability to change and become better than we were
before by choice. Dante repeatedly states that we must chose the path of goodness for ourselves and
can be guided but never forced, something I agree with wholeheartedly, for is a forced repentance
really repentance at all? The discussion of the afterlives of Cato and Virgil show the importance of
choice, given Cato s

Dress Codes Inhibit Clothing
Through the beginning of time since clothing has started being worn to cover our body parts,
standards and trends have developed itself over time by an invisible hand. Thus this created many
perceptions society starts to perceive in different ways regarding how a clothing item is worn.
Whether someone had the final say in what people wore what meant anything, we are not sure of
when and why. But how does a piece of fabric help present what an individual is just by the aesthetics
and how does what we wear affect us as the wearer? Fashion is just perceived as an unimportant
subcategory of the arts and doesn t have much to do with us but it does more than what meets the eye.
It has a lot of impact on the wearer s mindsets, dress codes inhibit ... Show more content on

Many problems have arose over the years that consumers may not be as aware of. First off, plus size
clothing are more expensive than non plus size clothing because manufacturers claim it requires more
fabric to make. Then can they explain why shorts cost the same as jeans if not cheaper and why do t
shirts cost the same as crop tops for women? Another really big issue that is present is how companies
present their advertisements they almost always only use skinny models to wear their clothing. It
creates false ideal body image for consumers because they think they don t look good in the item and
consequently, also causes eating disorders and a lack of confidence by many shoppers. Double
standards are one of the very big issues in fashion we are moving towards a very innovative society
and it is about time we stop seeing fashion as such a feminine thing to be interested in because men
can also be self conscious about what they wear without having to be seen as a homosexual. We also
have to work towards in changing how people perceive others predetermined by the brands they can
afford. Shown in Workman s experiment, the assumptions that people who only wear store brand jeans
are seen less of a tidy person compared to a person in high end brand jeans is not reasonable. Some of

Summary Of Slavery In The Comedy Of Errors
In The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare adds a frame story. Egeon plays the doting father of the lost
twins, only appearing in the first and final acts, but is incredibly important as a device to frame the
action of the play. Though the play is a comedy, Egeon grounds the action in tragedy. Subsequently,
because the conceit of the play is so complicated, Shakespeare has the characters speak to each other
in an indirect way, so they don t get to the heart of all the confusion until the play s resolution. Their
content is not often relevant to their conversation partner, but it s usually sharp and clever enough that
they could be thought to be punning or otherwise joking around. There s enough playfulness in what is
said, that the confused character often dismisses the confusing messages because of the light way in
which they re communicated. This veiled style of speaking allows the interactions to occur on
different levels, one of which makes sense to each conversation partner, even if it doesn t make for
coherent conversation. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare adds vital social commentary regarding
slavery. The rough treatment of the Dromios and their ambiguous servant/slave status reflect similar
features of Elizabethan servitude. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare constructs the Dromios so as
to condense the potential slavishness of sixteenth century English service. The play s focus on slavery
widens to encompass the institution of marriage and the individual s ordering

The Origin Of A Mango
When firstly experienced a mango, I was surprised at the terrific flavor as well as its big size of seed.
As the world is globalized on account of development of technology and transportation, even though
mango is one of fruits from tropical countries, it is easily introduced to people s table.
Part I
▶ History
The origin of mangos is northeast India and Myanmar (formerly Burma) traces back to 4000 B.C.
It is believed that mango was transferred to East Asia about 400 B.C by Buddhist monks.
In East Africa, they have been cultivated since 10th century, in Philippines, in the 15th century. Also,
they were introduced by Persian traders to the Middle East and East Africa in the 10th century.
After discovery of new world (the American Continent), mango seeds were brought by Portuguese
traders to their African and Brazilian colonies in the 16th century. The name mango was adopted by
the Portuguese derived from Malay manga or Tamil mankay (man : mango tree + kay : fruit). (Online
Etymology Dictionary, N/A)
It is said that mangoes started to be cultivated in the American colonies in the 17th century. At that
time, mangoes should be pickled since there was no method to preserve. (mapsofworld, 2011),
(Shortnotes of History, 2011)
In 1750, Puerto Rico started to grow mango.
In 1782, mango was introduced to Jamaica. (Mango Maven, N/A)
In the 19th century, the mango was cultivated in Mexico.
In the 1830 s, it started to be grown in Florida, and in the 1880 s in California.

East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) provides emergency 999, urgent care and
patient transport services for 4.8 million people within the six counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire,
Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.
Main Customers
Our main customers are members of the public calling 999 emergency services. In addition we have a
Patient Transport Service (PTS) who undertake journeys to and from routine health appointments.
Purpose and Goals of the Organisation
All NHS ambulance services must respond to 75% of Category A emergency calls (the most serious

This has seen EMAS move from transporting patients to the healthcare provider, into a service that
takes healthcare to the patient within the community (EMAS 2011).
Reconfiguration within the service is a further external factor. EMAS has been influenced by the
merger in 1999 and 2006 of six previous ambulance services into the East Midlands. Over recent
years, we have seen a shift from traditional command and control cultures of the former organisations,
to localised, empowered management teams working within the heart of their communities.
Becoming an NHS Foundation Trust is an external factor that is already having a major impact. An
NHS Foundation Trust is a new form of NHS organisation with greater freedom from Government
control so that it can better meet the needs of local communities. We are currently developing our
application. NHS Foundation Trust status will provide the freedom to invest surplus funds. We will be
able to plan for a longer period, 5 years plus so we can be more confident in how we will develop.

The Craft Beer Industry How Brew Stooges Made Their Mark...
Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft beer
industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama. Five years
ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and the only of its
kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went for a span of 71
years without a single commercially brewed local beer.
As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern city,
population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewing industry is
concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any can
claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five years, old
veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come along to reap the
rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a work in progress, but to
compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely repeal of some antiquated laws
that held the brewing industry back a home brewing ban, an ABV cap, a ban on large format bottles
craft beer is now free to thrive.
None of this would likely have happened without the first brewery, the now defunct Olde Towne
Brewing Company, which opened in 2004 to snap the 71 year drought. It s difficult to overstate

It s important for an innovation system that knowledge can diffuse from one company to another,
especially in a heterogeneous context. It can be measured by number of workshops, conferences and
mapping size of the network.
Guidance of the search
Due to limited resources, companies have to choose what they want to develop and investigate. The
things they choose are the things of which they think it can positively change their processes. This
function can be measured by mapping the specific targets of firms, companies and governments.
Market formation
It s almost impossible for new technologies to compete directly from the beginning with incumbent
technologies. Therefore these new technologies need niche markets or (governmental) subsidies to
exist. This function can be measured by the number of niche markets and the number of subsidies.
Resource mobilization
There are financial and human inputs necessary to make the other functions working properly. It is
hard to measure this function, the best way is to interview different actors and institutions.
Creation of legitimacy/counteract resistance to change
Often when there is a new technologie an old one has to be overthrown. This can be measured by
mapping the growth and lobby actions of investment groups.
According to Porter there are 4 determinants to indicate whether there is competitive advantage in an
innovation system. The 4 determinants are:

New Dannonpa V3 Game Analysis
I created an album cover for the original soundtracks of the game: New DanganRonpa V3. An album
which contains all the soundtracks used in the game. This is a mystery game based around high school
students who are trapped in a school setting. In order to escape, students must murder each other and
lie through a debate without getting caught by the rest. The design of this game is inspired by the
infamous psychological horror film, Saw.
The design is largely made up of a colour that s close to magenta. The reason being that magenta is
used to represent the colour of blood in the game. There is also a hidden face within the texts. The
weird wing like shape and a dot is actually the eyes of the game mascot who is also a representation of
the antagonist.
My design is partly inspired by two Pop artists, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. In terms of using

The brighter pink and a darker green. Not only do the hues create a contrast, the smaller and bigger
shapes are also a example of contrast between shapes. All shapes and texts are tightly placed together
to represent a feeling of unease and a sense of being trapped. Which is one of the major point in this
game. There is no clear balance to this design. However, each lines leads to the where the title of the
game resides to draw attention to the title of the game.
As I was creating this cover, I wanted convey a bright and lighthearted feeling. Which is what the
producers want the players to think in at first. Yet at the same time, I wanted to hint a feeling of being
trapped in a mess. This game is targeted towards older teens who seeks thrills in a game full of
unknown pasts, mysterious murders, and deducing theories. Through my design, I believe I was able
to create mix feelings within the target audience. A cover which makes them curious as to why a cover
is able to have such bright colours, yet give off such an uneasy

Political Differences Between Football And Football
Politics doesn t belong in football is what I heard my Dad say as a Jeremy Corbyn banner was raised
in the kop. I watch football to get away from Politics is a comment I saw in /r/soccer and that got me
thinking, isn t football the worst place to come to get away from politics.
I want to start with my overall point. Politics and Football are intricately intertwined. Politics often
manifests itself through Football, whilst Football has also been used for political propaganda. One of
the ways this is achieved is through local and national identities becoming associated and represented
by Football clubs. This brings us to the first example of politics being intertwined with Football with
FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The club not only has become enriched with a political background, but in fact their biggest rivalry
and possibly the biggest rivalry in the world has its political roots. El Clasico is a rivalry defined by
distance, the distance between what the two clubs stand for and represent. With Madrid representing
Spanish nationalism and Barcelona representing Catalan nationalism.
During the Franco regime Catalans saw Madrid as a tool Franco would use to humiliate the city in
another domain. The example most cited in the book Barça was the 1943 Copa Del Rey. Barça held a
3 0 lead going into the second leg, with a few controversial decisions. The home fans who would boo
the officials would be labeled in the media as enemies of the Spanish stat . Rumoured in this book

Analysis Of The Book Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a Netflix original British science fiction television series that is macabre and uses

wonderfully incorporates race, gender, and sexuality as well as other topics such as ableism and
classism. In this paper, four distinct episodes in the show that represented these themes were explored.
We chose to focus on the episodes Men Against Fire, Fifteen Million Merits, San Junipero, and White

because they were seen as imperfect males; rather, the multiple biological differences that were

Handoffs has been the main known communication method used to transfer critical information that leads to a continuity of care and safety for the patient. Bedside reporting allows the oncoming nurse to physically see the patient, allowing questions to be asked and participation. Effective and efficient communication has been the main focus of many research studies that observe, analyze and evaluate the methods like bedside reporting and handoffs. The main question is: Does one method improve patient care and safety over the other? Significance of Problem As the health care field has evolved over the years, ineffective handoffs may pose a potential risk in patient care and safety which may include wrong placement surgery, medication errors or patient death (Friesen, White Byers, 2008). It has been done traditionally at the nurse s station and research has displayed that uneventful episodes or accidents were more likely to occur during the shift report (Ofori Atta, 2015). • 3. Neuromuscular Dysphagia Treatment Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is a type of therapy used as a form of treatment for swallowing disorders (dysphagia). This method involves placing electrodes on one or several external sites on the anterior neck to which an electrical current is applied to peripheral tissue targets (Clark, Lazarus, Arvedson, Schooling, Frymark, 2009, p 362). it is hypothesized that such stimulation aims to improve function by strengthening the swallowing musculature or by stimulating the sensory pathways relevant to swallowing or both. To facilitate strengthening, muscle contractions elicited via NMES generally recruit larger and more motor units than voluntary contractions, causing metabolic responses within the muscle tissue that ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The primary diagnosis associated with these participants dysphagia is stroke in three out of the six participants , and all participants were under the age of 90 (Carnaby Mann and Crary, 2008). The investigation was about whether NMES was effective treatment for swallowing disorders. The participants had to obtain a score of 23 or greater on the mini mental state examination (MMSE) and a score of 5 or less on the Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS), and lastly the participants could not have received swallowing therapy within the last three months (Carnaby Mann and Crary 2008). Before therapy began baseline scores were collected including clinical and instrumental swallowing evaluation, documentation of weight and the participants of self perception of swallowing ability. The Mann Assessment of swallowing ability (MASA) was used to assess swallowing ability. A videofluoroscopic swallowing evaluation was conducted to confirm the presence of pharyngeal dysphagia (Carnaby Mann and Crary 2008). Materials used in this examination were thin liquid, nectar thick liquid, and pudding in both 5ml 10ml amounts, and modified per participant. Once in 1975 and a rerun in 1986, ever since then it had been escalating. It started off with full frontal female nudity, at the time it wasn t too bothersome, but since then, time has been changing. At times it may seem like he is selfish and fears no consequences for his actions. Some may even say he is a womanizer who doesn t respect or even care for the women he speaks to. After moving to Los Angeles, he suffers from writer s block and gets caught up in the cities superficiality and shallowness. This causes Hank to get deeper into his self destructive tendencies. The relationship he has with his daughter is quite abnormal, although she is 12 she s been exposed to more mature things which has caused her to grow up a bit quicker. Hank being the alcoholic he is falls asleep on the couch during his turn to take of Becca. She gives him a blanket, blanket, and even makes breakfast for him in the mornings. Becca even asks about Hank s vasectomy he gets done in one episode and asks him how the boys are doing . To most people this would seem a bit inappropriate and even child neglect. • 6. The Neo Classical Model Of Economics MONETARISM The 1930 s saw the neo classical model of economics, championed by Walras and Mengers, crumble as rates of unemployment rose exponentially on a global scale. In the midst of this economic crisis Keynes offered solution to the crisis in his 1936 General theory of Employment, Interests and Money . He successfully argued that the state was alone capable of steering the economy to produce social stability and social justice (Valentine, 2003) Thus the post war consensus was formed and consequentially the centre ground of politics redefined, Keynesianism socialist model would hold sway for the quarter century following World War II. The decade of the 1970s was characterized by high and rising inflation and slow economic growth (Jahan and Papageorgiou, 2014). Keynesianism couldn t answer the soaring inflation, Hayek, who warned Keynesianism was a road to serfdom (The Economist, 2013) and Friedman s neoliberal model could and Thatcher recognised this. The essential economic task of Thatcher was the desertion of Keynesian macro economics (Valentine, 2013). The result was an adoption of Monetarism, a belief in controlling the money supply as a means of controlling inflation (Viven, 2003). The 1970 s economy was corroded to the breaking point due to the clout of the unions. Edward Heaths Conservative government was plagued by continuous strikes that led to the declaration of the three day working week. Inflation was rising as high as 24%, with one million ... As the grateful dead is jamming in the background, four of my best friends and I approach the Bay Area. I had always wanted to visit San Francisco, for the history and the culture, however, our stop here was for a mission. We were looking for Psilocybin Mushrooms so that we could trip while camping in the Redwood Forest. San Francisco has always been a world leader for the psychedelic community due to none other than the infamous Haight Ashbury. It was the breeding ground for hippies, home to some of the best music of all time and, well known for it s groovy vibes. After a quick stop by Fisherman s Wharf and a few twists down Lombard Street, we arrived at the intersection of Haight and Ashbury. As we walk we see multiple groups of hippies passing spliffs and playing music, the bright neon signs with the words Smoke Shop at every overhang, the classic Ben and Jerry s where Jerry Garcia found his love for what would eventually be the signature Cherry Garcia. The early symptoms of bladder cancer are blood in the urine, frequent or painful urination, back or pelvic pain. My father had bladder cancer in his early 90 s and I did not give much thought to what caused the cancer since most of his siblings had previously passed due to some form of cancer. However, I have now learned that bladder cancer is mainly common in someone that is older than 55 years of age with an average age at diagnosis of 73. Diagnosis of bladder cancer in someone younger than the age of 40 is very rare but it still could happen at any age. Bladder cancer is also more common in men than women and in white males ... • 9. Rappaccini s Daughter, By Susanna Rowson Literature has historically been a means of passing traditions down, providing entertainment, inspiring creative ideas, and transferring knowledge through several generations. In society, literature can be embraced for its innovation or condemned for the values it intently expresses against societal, political, and even religious views. Social criticism in literature is meant to directly or subtly call out the flaws in the social structure in an attempt to create awareness or evoke reforms. Many literary works invent characters who either gladly embrace gender and sexuality norms or are predisposed to them and live unconsciously, but are ultimately ruined in the end as a means to show the issue with definitive terms that categorize individuals. American gothic novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne created the short story Rappaccini s Daughter in 1844, and it depicts a young student, Giovanni Guasconti, and his travels to Italy for school. Holiday camps worked on the simple principle that if the children were happy on holiday then the parents would be happy as well. Holiday camps provided entertainment and activities for both parents and children at a low, all inclusive rate with the added bonus of a child minding service to allow the parents to enjoy themselves. Napoleon Bonaparte goes down in history as one the greatest military commanders of all time. Many consider him a hero of the French people and the people of the conquered lands spreading his reforms everywhere. Others believe that he is a tyrant, oppressing citizens and engaging in aggressive unnecessary wars. This is a controversial topic and both sides can bring up compelling arguments. First we must define a hero and tyrant, a hero is someone who is courageous, brave and positively impacts people around him and leaves a legacy. Napoleon directly fits that definition. INTRODUCTION The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led to a demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure, accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand with EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather grant access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues. With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008) as they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government (Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007). The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and human, to carry out their activities. The beginnings and ends of what we choose to call centuries are almost invariably years of little significance. But there is little agreement over when the twentieth century c.e. arrived, and there were several points both before the year 2000 (the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reunification of Germany, the surge of globalization from the mid 1990s) and afterward (9/11, or the global recession of 2008) when one could quite plausibly argue that a new era had begun. A compelling case can be made for viewing the decades of the global scramble for colonies after 1870 as a predictable culmination of the long nineteenth century, which was ushered in by the industrial and political revolutions of the late 1700s. But at the same time, without serious attention to the processes and misguided policies that led to decades of agrarian and industrial depression from the late 1860s to the 1890s, as well as the social tensions and political rivalries that generated and were in turn fed by imperialist expansionism, one cannot begin to comprehend the causes and consequences of the Great War that began in 1914. If Pi did not tame his savagery, he would have been consumed by it, which would be represented by a fatal attack from Richard Parker. • 23. Forgiveness Vs. Condemnation In Dante Alighieri s The... As the second part of Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy, The Purgatorio serves as an allegorical bridge between the two other works, much like Purgatory serves as a bridge into Heaven. Purgatory is characterized by repentance as sinners here are given the chance to work towards redemption, as opposed to Hell where sinners are punished for eternity with no hope for forgiveness. The idea of forgiveness versus condemnation can be seen in the comparison of Cato and Virgil, a man forgiven and a man condemned. Cato, like Virgil, died before the birth of Christ but repented in the final moments of his life and was given a place in Purgatory, despite being a pagan and committing suicide. Cato s story proves that choosing repentance is the key and Virgil, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The psychological implications of nature versus nurture in one s later life and development have been contested for years, and I have a tendency to stick very close to the middle; I believe Dante would as well. He gives a very clear answer as to whose responsibility it is (our own) to make decisions and gain entrance into Purgatory, while also making some concessions for circumstance and nature, for Virgil says the only road I could have taken was the road I took, (I 62 63) emphasising how he was constrained by the options available. But this constrainment does not, in any way, alleviate the responsibility we have for our own souls, but instead teaches us that we should act the best we can, given our lives and histories, in order to be the most virtuous people we can be. The view is also somewhat more forgiving than other interpretations, as it is always possible to return to the path and Goodness has arms so wide that It accepts whoever would return (III 122 123). This belief in redemption mimics my own belief in the human ability to change and become better than we were before by choice. • 25. Summary Of Slavery In The Comedy Of Errors In The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare adds a frame story. Egeon plays the doting father of the lost twins, only appearing in the first and final acts, but is incredibly important as a device to frame the action of the play. Though the play is a comedy, Egeon grounds the action in tragedy. Subsequently, because the conceit of the play is so complicated, Shakespeare has the characters speak to each other in an indirect way, so they don t get to the heart of all the confusion until the play s resolution. Their content is not often relevant to their conversation partner, but it s usually sharp and clever enough that they could be thought to be punning or otherwise joking around. There s enough playfulness in what is said, that the confused character often dismisses the confusing messages because of the light way in which they re communicated. This veiled style of speaking allows the interactions to occur on different levels, one of which makes sense to each conversation partner, even if it doesn t make for coherent conversation. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare adds vital social commentary regarding slavery. The rough treatment of the Dromios and their ambiguous servant/slave status reflect similar features of Elizabethan servitude. Company Overview During this presentation we will be going into depths concerning the craft beer industry and how Brew Stooges made their mark on the industry in Huntsville, Alabama. Five years ago, in early 2010, there was a single brewery in Huntsville, Alabama, one brewery, and the only of its kind to open since the repeal of national prohibition in 1933. The city literally went for a span of 71 years without a single commercially brewed local beer. As of June 2015, there are eight breweries in Huntsville, soon to be nine. This smallish southern city, population 180,000, has undergone a total transformation as far as its craft brewing industry is concerned. Like so many other American cities, beer has come into the vogue, but few if any can claim to have experienced such as a rapid, radical, city defining seismic shift. In just five years, old veteran brewing presences have been established and a younger generation has come along to reap the rewards of a clientele that continues to refine its taste. It s still very much a work in progress, but to compare the before and after statistics is shocking. Thanks to a timely repeal of some antiquated laws that held the brewing industry back a home brewing ban, an ABV cap, a ban on large format bottles craft beer is now free to thrive. None of this would likely have happened without the first brewery, the now defunct Olde Towne Brewing Company, which opened in 2004 to snap the 71 year drought. It s difficult to overstate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s important for an innovation system that knowledge can diffuse from one company to another, especially in a heterogeneous context. It can be measured by number of workshops, conferences and mapping size of the network. Guidance of the search Due to limited resources, companies have to choose what they want to develop and investigate. The things they choose are the things of which they think it can positively change their processes. This function can be measured by mapping the specific targets of firms, companies and governments. Market formation It s almost impossible for new technologies to compete directly from the beginning with incumbent technologies. Therefore these new technologies need niche markets or (governmental) subsidies to exist. This function can be measured by the number of niche markets and the number of subsidies. Resource mobilization There are financial and human inputs necessary to make the other functions working properly. It is hard to measure this function, the best way is to interview different actors and institutions. Creation of legitimacy/counteract resistance to change Often when there is a new technologie an old one has to be overthrown. • 33. New Dannonpa V3 Game Analysis I created an album cover for the original soundtracks of the game: New DanganRonpa V3. An album which contains all the soundtracks used in the game. This is a mystery game based around high school students who are trapped in a school setting. In order to escape, students must murder each other and lie through a debate without getting caught by the rest. The design of this game is inspired by the infamous psychological horror film, Saw. The design is largely made up of a colour that s close to magenta. The reason being that magenta is used to represent the colour of blood in the game. There is also a hidden face within the texts. The weird wing like shape and a dot is actually the eyes of the game mascot who is also a representation of the antagonist. My design is partly inspired by two Pop artists, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. In terms of using a colour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brighter pink and a darker green. Not only do the hues create a contrast, the smaller and bigger shapes are also a example of contrast between shapes. All shapes and texts are tightly placed together to represent a feeling of unease and a sense of being trapped. Which is one of the major point in this game. There is no clear balance to this design. However, each lines leads to the where the title of the game resides to draw attention to the title of the game. As I was creating this cover, I wanted convey a bright and lighthearted feeling. Which is what the producers want the players to think in at first. Yet at the same time, I wanted to hint a feeling of being trapped in a mess. This game is targeted towards older teens who seeks thrills in a game full of unknown pasts, mysterious murders, and deducing theories. Through my design, I believe I was able to create mix feelings within the target audience. A cover which makes them curious as to why a cover is able to have such bright colours, yet give off such an uneasy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Political Differences Between Football And Football Politics doesn t belong in football is what I heard my Dad say as a Jeremy Corbyn banner was raised in the kop. I watch football to get away from Politics is a comment I saw in /r/soccer and that got me thinking, isn t football the worst place to come to get away from politics. I want to start with my overall point. Politics and Football are intricately intertwined. Politics often manifests itself through Football, whilst Football has also been used for political propaganda. One of the ways this is achieved is through local and national identities becoming associated and represented by Football clubs. This brings us to the first example of politics being intertwined with Football with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The club not only has become enriched with a political background, but in fact their biggest rivalry and possibly the biggest rivalry in the world has its political roots. El Clasico is a rivalry defined by distance, the distance between what the two clubs stand for and represent. With Madrid representing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona representing Catalan nationalism. During the Franco regime Catalans saw Madrid as a tool Franco would use to humiliate the city in another domain. The example most cited in the book Barça was the 1943 Copa Del Rey. Barça held a 3 0 lead going into the second leg, with a few controversial decisions. The home fans who would boo the officials would be labeled in the media as enemies of the Spanish stat . We chose to focus on the episodes Men Against Fire, Fifteen Million Merits, San Junipero, and White Bear from the show Black Mirror. She says: Women continued to be perceived as inferior to men, but no longer because they were seen as imperfect males; rather, the multiple biological differences that were identified cast them as weaker, more vulnerable, and so on (Fisher). This is how women are seen and treated in this episode: as inferior and only useful as sexual objects. Lastly, Fifteen Million Merits looks at able bodyism through the existence of the lemons, or the lower class. These people are only part of the lower class because they are heavy, and are thus unable to keep up with the all day bike exercises. The lemons are subjected to humiliation on tv shows, are shot in video games, and are badmouthed by those on the bikes, all because they are heavier than everyone else.
