Zeitoun Essay Questions
Questions for Zeitoun
1. How do disastrous situations bring about the extremes of human nature? What motivates the
behaviors?
In disastrous situations, humans are brought to the extremes. At first, people panic and become
desperate for any solution, as seen on pg. 74 where Kathy describes an empty shelved Walmart that
looked like the end of the world. Greed and lawlessness due to a lack of police is also an extreme; this
is seen on pgs. 128 129 when Zeitoun encounters a gang robbing a Shell station on his way to work, it
had thugs armed with guns. It is even more clear on page 175, where Mayor Nagin described the
events in the Superdome, About three days we were basically rationing...that s why the people, in my
opinion, they got to this almost animalistic state...they were trapped...for five days watching dead
bodies, watching hooligans killing people, raping people... Mayor Nagin says that the feeling of
desperateness, of being trapped, and of helplessness made people animalistic. On the other hand and
to a lesser extent, people like Zeitoun show an opposite extreme. After Katrina, Zeitoun developed a
hero complex after rescuing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time, the direness of a situation could make a person do anything to survive, and he/she might
only see the full scope afterwards. This can be seen in Officer Gonzales and Lima s confessions. They
both said that New Orleans was like a third world country or a place of anarchy. This made both of
them uneasy, Lima saying My state of mind was rattled. Under the threat of gangs, Lima and Gonzales
arrested Zeitoun and his three friends but only later did they realize that Zeitoun et al were innocent;
Gonzales eventually expressed his regret. Zeitoun also fought for life by enduring prison treatment
with his deteriorating physical condition. He also felt guilty that he could not comfort his worrying
wife and children because of his choice to stay in New Orleans that wound him up in

Cango s Hierarchical Structure
Advantage Plus has also noticed several issues surrounding CanGo s current organizational structure.
The current setup is quite hierarchical in design, with several different layers of personnel comprising
the company. The bottom layer of the company consists of four staff members (Debbie, Whitney,
Nick, and Gail). These four individuals report to five different managers. These managers include
Clark (Director of Finance), Maria (Director of Human Resources), Warren (Director of Operations),
Ethel (Director of Accounting), and Andrew (Director of Marketing.) At the top of the hierarchical
structure is Elizabeth Bennet (CEO/Founder of CanGo). Rather than continuing to operate in its
hierarchical structure, CanGo should seriously consider embracing

Being A Paramedic Essay
The Path of Paramedics
Caring for patients in the EMS environment is like riding a motorcycle: The moment you get
comfortable and think you ve seen everything, you become dangerous(David Persse)! Just one day in
the life of a paramedic and you will second think anything you thought you knew. They must be
prepared or any and everything that could possibly happen. They can hold your life in their hands and
they have to have the skills to sustain in until the hospital is reached. Becoming a paramedic is the
right choice because, everyday seems like an adventure, the schedule is as set as stone, and you have
the chance to save lives without eight years or more in medical school(Devantier, Alecia T., and Carol

You could pull up to any scene imaginable, even some you see in the movies. No matter how crazy it
might seem, you have to think and work fast if you are going to save someone else. You may have a
shift that leaves you completely exhausted, but you gave everything in you to give them a second
chance. You may not have the schooling or the training doctors do, but you still have the ability to save
people. Works Cited

Rotavirus
Rotavirus is commonly spread from person to person. It is highly contagious and passes easily through
the fecal oral route by way of contact with contaminated hands or objects, such as toys and surfaces,
through tainted food or water, in respiratory droplets or on water contaminated with feces. Infected
children begin to shed rotavirus in their stools 76 before the onset of symptoms and can excrete up to
1011 rotavirus particles per gram of fecal matter, much more than the number of 100 particles required
to infect new contacts. The risk of rotavirus transmission can be reduced by frequent hand washing
and treatment of contaminated materials at high temperatures, namely above + 50°C. Rotaviruses are

documented in hospitals 53, nursing homes and military barracks. In view of the fact that rotavirus is

Criminal Processes in England and Wales
Criminal process in England and Wales
The values of accountability, effective performance, rights protection, democracy and confidence are
primarily promoted by the oversight of the criminal process provided by the courts, independent
administrative bodies and the public. There are five principal contexts in which the courts operate to
oversee police policy and conduct. These are: judicial review hearings; during the trial process; via
criminal prosecution of the police; at an inquest in the coroner s court; and where a civil action is
brought. English criminal law procedures are majorly acts of parliament. In England there is the
existence of The Crown Prosecution Service which is run by the director of public prosecution, the
director of public prosecution is appointed by the attorney general under his superintendence. In
England the work of defending suspects and defendants is done by defense lawyers. Defense lawyers
are in two categories; solicitors and barristers. Other participants in the criminal process include the
police whose primary role is to investigate. The police investigators in England and Wales differ
significantly from their counterparts in the continental Europe in the way they are organized and the
duties that they are entrusted. In England and Wales police are largely independent of direct
government control. In addition to the police there are other agents of investigation like the Inland
Revenue and Customs and Exercise and the Serious Fraud

Loss Of Hope In The Trial And The Narrative Of Arthur...
Loss of Hope is a major theme in The Trial and The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. In both of the
stories, the main characters show what it means to have lost hope. In The Trial, on his thirtieth
birthday, Josef K. is arrested unexpectedly. He has no idea what he did or did not accomplish. The trial
lasts a year and he never found out what it is about, so he gives up. Josef K. did not know what he did
wrong. The trial is never ending, he never found out what it is about, so he gives up. In The Narrative

Josef K. and Pym are victims of loss of hope. As the trial continues Josef K. keeps giving up. He is
still unaware of what he did, and of what will happen to him. Josef K. states, By running off some
unknown painter, with , as he had to admit, very little hope of any vague benefit, this quote is showing
that K has slim to nothing for lawyers, he has been looking and all he can find is a painter to help. All
he wants is some help, and for him life to go back to normal, but he knows deep down that there is no
hope. Pym keeps giving up hope, he states, May God forgive me, but now, for the first time, there
flashed through my mind a thought, a thought which I will not mention, and I felt myself making a
step toward the ensanguined spot, what he is saying is that he doesn t want to think or see the death of
Augustus. He doesn t want to realize that he is gone. This is an example if loss go hope because even
if he knows that Augustus will not recover he doesn t want to believe it, which causes him to give up
and lose hope. Pym is constantly having obstacles thrown at him, and that is the reason he loses hope.
One quote that Pym stated is, We had little hopes that Augustus would recover, as he evinced no signs
of life; but, upon getting to him, we discovered that he had merely swooned from the loss of blood,
Pym is saying that Augustus fainted from all of the blood, and there was no hope

Mercedes Archetypes
Mercedes: Mother Figure A mother archetype is a person who is caring a protective figure that show
motherly intention. I choose Mercedes because she is the wife of Charlie and since she is a wife, I
think that she would be a great mother archetype. Usually a wife is a very caring and is supportive
figure so I think it will fit her well. Mercedes is the only woman in this text not counting female dogs,
and unfortunately represents a bunch of gender stereotypes that existed around the turn of the 20th
Century. She is weak, impractical, and overly sentimental and emotional. This is why I think she is a
great mother figure because her emotions cause her to be caring and loving like a mother. Mercedes is
a very emotional character and has a heart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evolution Of Rap During The 80 s
The evolution of rap during the 80 s, 90 s and 2000 s until now. Introduction: What is rap? Rap is
defined in the dictionary as: a style of popular music, developed by disc jockeys and urban blacks in
the late 1970s, in which an insistent, recurring beat pattern provides the background and counterpoint
for rapid, slangy, and often boastful rhyming patter glibly intoned by a vocalist or vocalists. Which
implies that rap is defined by its fast, narcissistic, aggressive, and rhyming lyrics. Simply said rap is
talking slightly faster than usual often accompanied by music. Rap originated in ghettos where youth
had to deal with gangs, drugs, murders, rape, and racial profiling by the police. This is why rap lyrics
are often about violence, drugs, money and sex, which was very controversial and often protested by
parents and politicians. In this assignment I will research and discuss the origins and development of
rap on a 30 year timeline, as well as the surrounding controversy and internal conflicts of the rap
industry. Motivation: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

age of rap basically ended during my childhood. I picked English as the subject; not only because all
the songs are in English, but also because a lot of the rap songs can easily be mistaken for one of

Pharmaceuticals, insurance, air transport, health professionals, and others. To reach the goals of the

number 5 in the amount of money spending. As the group is composed of health care professionals, it

support of Medicaid program will have severe health impact on millions of low income families in the

Using Technology Into Your Classroom
Creating a WebQuest
In many classrooms today, the use of technology is becoming more popular in the classrooms. Many
teachers are incorporating the use of technology into their lessons and methods of teaching. One way
to introduce technology into your classroom is to create a WebQuest.
What is a WebQuest you may ask? Well, a WebQuest is an inquiry base lesson format where students
take information they are given and create new information to make meaningful projects that they can
present in different ways. In other words, students go on a quest using the web to find answers to the
questions given or complete a task, learning more on the subject while doing so.
Why use a WebQuest
A WebQuest is an interactive way to get students involved in the lesson, promotes higher level
thinking, and gets students more familiar with different aspects of the Internet. So, whether you are an
education student new to the topic or an experienced teacher educator looking for new methods
involving technology, learning how to make a WebQuest is a useful tool to have.
A few tips before beginning.
1. Become familiar with resources available online.
2. Find topics that fit within the curriculum and which there are materials online. It makes sense to
choose a project that couldn t be done as well without web access.
3. Choose a template that fits the subject and classroom. Pre made templates can be found online, or
one can be created in Word, Powerpoint, even Excel. Keep in mind of what

A Soldier s Dignity In The Life Of A Fallen German Soldier
The thought of being entangled in barbed wire after being shot is an idea that makes me cringe. I
cannot fathom the pain that the soldiers in these situations must have felt, but I can understand the
factors that allowed for their killing. I believe the moral factor most relevant in mercy killing is
dignity. As humans, we offer sympathy for our peers that are suffering. In addition, we help them to
keep their dignity by trying to ease their pains. In the second scenario, the author describes a scene in
which a fallen German soldier screams in pain and calls for his mother throughout the night. It is
understood that the German will not survive as he was stranded, and as members of the same
profession, we should respect the German s dignity by putting him out of his suffering. Considering
that he will not survive, we recognize the pain he feels is unwarranted, so why allow him suffer and
scream? More generally, the purpose of mercy killing is not to commit a malicious act against a friend
or foe, but it is to induce their inevitable death with less suffering. By ending the torment of those in
pain, we are respecting their dignity by not allowing them to experience unnecessary agony. In ...

This is the reason I would respect a person s decision to be killed. There are many scenarios when
people are in shock from the pain they are experiencing, and they do not have the ability to say they
want the agony to end. In these situations, I believe their screams and cries of pain speak for
themselves. I understand the right of self determination can be stretched to where a person s desires
infringe on the rights of others, so I believe everyone has this right until they are harming others. In
times of war, I think I share this belief with many other members of the military, who out of
compassion, could not let their comrades suffer in agony while they watched

The Admnistrator of the Highway Department Essay
The administrator of the highway department was given a task to find a way to fill more potholes. This
program to fill more potholes would decrease the number of complaints in the city and the number of
damages to the residents cars. To do this, the Highway Administrator implemented a goal setting
program, in hopes this would encourage the workers to fill more potholes. This program sets a
standard for each crew to fill a certain amount of potholes per day, no matter the location of where the
crew was working. The results will then be posted for all of the crews to observe and compare. As an
incentive to fill as many potholes as possible, the crew who filled the largest amount of potholes each
week was given a reward. I personally believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard set by the highway administrator were that each crew was to fill 20% more potholes than
they usually fill on a daily basis. This aspect of the goal is extremely efficient and specific which gives
the workers a clear idea of what they need to do at work. If the goal were to simply fill more potholes
than you normally fill than each crew could fill one more pothole than they normally do and still meet
the goal but this would probably not get the work done as fast and it needs to be. This goal is also a
clear standard because of the different working conditions each crew operates in. Asking each crew to
fill 5 more potholes than normal might prove to be easy for one crew and extremely hard for another,
depending on the conditions. Each crew was also given a step by step sheet on how to properly fill
each pothole. This will make each fill last longer, therefore, making less work for the future.
The feedback that accompanies each goal comes at the end of each week. Feedback is objective
information about performance. Motivational feedback serves as a reward and the highway
administrator clearly understands that since he is using rewards to drive his employees productivity.
(Hogue, 2004) Each week, the highway administrator will post performance data on a board for all of
the other crews to view. Since there are only rewards and no harsh consequences, this creates friendly
competition for each crew. The crew who has the most potholes

Native Americans In The Film, Westward Expansion
Set in 2154 on the lush moon of Pandora, director James Cameron once again captivates his audience

Ethical Dilemmas in the Nursing Field
There are several dilemmas in the nursing field though nurses reactions to ethical dilemmas are based
on their individual values and beliefs as well as ethical principles, professional codes and the climate
of the healthcare setting. Nurses encounter ethical dilemmas when conflicting values and judgments
are present regarding what is the best course of patient care. Ethical dilemmas are faced by nurses on a
daily bases. I am choosing two of these dilemmas to address.
1. Empirical Knowledge vs. Personal Beliefs:
Empirical knowledge is the type of knowledge that includes empirical research, scientific enquiry,
reductionism and positivism, it is often viewed as true or valid knowledge that can be theoretically
explained by scientific traditional ideas like psychology, pharmacology, sociology and biology or by
rigorous empirical testing which include knowledge from books, journals and conferences.

Human Beings Have a Right to Die Essay
Do people have the right to die? Is there, in fact, a right to die? Assisted suicide is a controversial topic
in the public eye today. Individuals choose their side of the controversy based on a number of
variables ranging from their religious views and moral standings to political factors. Several aspects of
this issue have been examined in books, TV shows, movies, magazine articles, and other means of
bringing the subject to the attention of the public. However, perhaps the best way to look at this issue
in the hopes of understanding the motives behind those involved is from the perspective of those
concerned: the terminally ill and the disabled.

In the nursing home, they are understaffed, and do not have the proper understanding of your

Once having a mere glimpse into the lives of the terminally ill or disabled, some are able to
understand their plight; but usually most are not. In most cases, these people are able to take what they
ve been given and deal with it. However, in some cases, some simply can not tolerate their lives as
they are. They feel that the only solution to their problem is to end their lives. Unfortunately, in some
cases, the terminally ill or disabled are not capable of accomplishing this task by themselves, and are
left trapped in a life that they do not want. In these cases, when one wishes to end his life and is
terminally ill, disabled, or otherwise unable to do so independently, he should have the right to die by
assisted suicide. Although most people that are terminally ill or disabled do not wish to end their lives,
there are still those few who do. While examining the issue of assisted suicide, three facets of the
controversy must be considered: the political, the moral, and the human or compassionate views. By
supporting their decision, we support their right to choose and decide what they want to do with their

The Meaning Of The Word In English Literature
During literature class, where we read narrative that goes from the middle ages to the present, I noted
that in many writings, several words appeared constantly in different stories from different authors
that nowadays, are less used or uncommon. Including bosom , alas , nay , gay . Where bosom was
used to refer to the chest as the seat of emotions. Alas used an exclamation to express sorrow, grief,
pity, or concern. These words were commonly used in the Middle English 1225 75. Nay is a denial or
refusal that was substituted simply for no . However, the word that had an even more drastic change of
its meaning was gay .
This project analyzes and investigates how common this word was in the English narrative. A
hypothesis will be created of the reasons why its meaning may have changed. An example of its use in
literature will be presented through different periods of time with different authors. At the beginning,
according to the Oxford dictionary and the website dictionary.com, gay evolved from given to or
abounding in social or other pleasures; bright or show; having or showing a merry, lively mood. To ,
in a certain period of time, changed drastically to mean sexually unrestrained or having loose morals.
Turned to be an offensive synonymous for awkward, stupid, bad or lame. At the end, nowadays is
relating to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one s own
sex; homosexual.
Hypothesis: Originally, the word gay

Elizabethan Pirates Essay
Elizabethan Pirates
Did you ever think that some pirates fought for their country? Contrary to what some might believe,
Elizabethan pirates, or privateers, fought for Queen Elizabeth of England. Also, for various reasons
they were called sea dogs and buccaneers. The privateers were actually encouraged by the government
to pillage their enemies. Elizabethan privateers were enlisted and licensed by the government, were
unified in their cause, focused more on capturing than destroying enemy ships, and were made famous
through their victories.
In the Elizabethan Era, England and Spain were in conflict due to their differences in religion. With
the arrival of Queen Elizabeth, the official religion of England changed to Protestant (Religion ...

These pirates then became known as privateers because of their new alliances. A pirate will attack
anybody, regardless of nationality, whereas a privateer has a license and will attack only the enemies
of his/her country (Elizabeth s Sea Dogs).
Another interesting fact about privateers is that they were unified in their cause. Regular pirates have
little to no affiliation with each other, whereas all the privateers that Queen Elizabeth hired worked
together to achieve the same goal. Because of this, they accomplished very large feats. If they hadn t
worked together, winning the war would have been extremely difficult. The teamwork of the
privateers is what intimidated the King of Spain and allowed them to severely damage the Armada
(Sir Francis Drake). The unity of the privateers with the Royal English Navy also had a large impact
on the war. If England was to win, teamwork between the Navy and the privateers was very important.
If they hadn t gotten along, several battles could have been lost just because of arguments.
Elizabethan privateers focused on capturing ships rather than destroying them. This way, they and
Queen Elizabeth could profit from their victories. If the privateers had destroyed the ships, there
would have been no gain at all for the English. By capturing the ships, they acquired the loot and the
ships

Sulphuric Acid Lab
From this lab experiment, I can conclude that the red cabbage solution is an effective indicator for the
acidic, basic and neutral chemical compounds. I learned that the universal indicator is also a good
solution for the three types of compounds. The colours are different depending on what substance you
are testing. The colours that we discovered in the pH scale are pink, red or orange. As for bases the
colour was either light or dark green sometimes yellow. The colours for neutral, were violet or
purple. In real life we are exposed to acids and bases everyday. For example, citric acid is in lots of
citrus foods such as lemons, oranges and grapefruits. It is also added to foods for flavouring, non

Unethical Ethics Of Advertising
Everyday, everywhere we are being inundated with advertisements. Whether it be while you are
walking down the street, shopping at the supermarket, or even in the safety of your own home
enjoying some tv in your down time. Advertising, whether it be big or small is everywhere; and in fact
there are many issues with it. Advertising that promotes a service or product in a deceptive way is
highly unethical. This is because it doesn t provide the customer with enough information that they
need in order to make a good, educated decision. And on another note, advertising is manipulative
because of the way it promotes consumption at such a large scale. Some of the main reasons for
advertising being dishonest are because it displays false savings, it exhibits unnecessary upselling and
possibly most importantly, it feul s wasteful consumerism. The significance of this problem, comes in
the form of the large sums of money people waste on products they don t need and once purchased,
realise they don t want. Frankly it is just too overt to look past.
A way that advertising is deceptive is by showing false savings. Advertising a shocking price cut is a
common marketing tactic, but some businesses inflate their prices beforehand just so they can
advertise the sizable price cut. In effect, the customer does not receive a good deal because the
discount reflects virtual, not actual, savings. Word s such as closeout and clearance are commonly
used by companies, which give consumers the

Quebec Should be Independent Essay
The French pioneers arrived on the land of today s Canada before the 17th century, in which they

tension between the two ethnicities worsened, so the French asked for an independent nation. Canada

Physician Attitude And Behavior Associated With Direct And...
Patient Physician Attitude and behavior associated with Direct to Consumer (DTC) promotion of
Prescription/OTC medications
RESEARCH PURPOSE: One of the triumphs of the biomedical revolution of the past 30 years is the
development of a large and growing pharmacopeia of therapeutic drugs. Used appropriately, these
drugs enhance patient s quality of life, improve functional capacity and sometimes extend life.
However in the aggregate, prescription drugs represent a substantial health care expenditure. To
ensure steady demand for their products, pharmaceutical manufacturers have traditionally deployed
large armies of sales representatives marketing their ways to physician (1). Lately the pharmaceutical
industry had altered its marketing strategy by increasing its reliance on direct to consumer (DTC)
advertising. The amount to money spent on DTC advertising has risen from 600 million to 8 billion in
the last decade (2). Almost 145 million U.S. adults look up for health information online in 2008.
Views on DTC ads (DTCA) center on three effects: cost, communication, and health of the public.
Critics claim that DTCA raises health care costs by stimulating consumers to demand newer, more
expensive drugs, often with high profit margins (3, 4). The pharmaceutical industry rejects arguments
that DTCA is inflationary, and while not denying the profit motive, it points out that DTCA serves a
patient education function. The industry s argument is that patients are highly motivated to

Biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Background Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 1791) was one of the Classical Era s most prolific and
influential composers. Born in Austria, he composed over 600 musical works symphonies, operas,
concerti, chamber music and choral pieces. His father, Leopold was a minor composer but
experienced teacher and deputy Kapellmeister to the Archbishop of Salzburg. Wolfgang was brilliant
from early childhood, and began to compose for the piano by the age of 5, causing his father to give
up composition when he realized how much musical talent his son had. From then on, Leopold was
Wolfgang s only teacher and, along with music, tutored his children in languages and basic academics.
Between 1762 and 1773 Wolfgang and his family travelled through much of Europe; he and his sister
Nannerl performing as child prodigies. During the trip, Wolfgang was exposed to a number of
different composers; Johann Christian Bach was of particular influence during a 1765 London visit.
The trips were quite hard on all the family because they had to endure poor conditions while they
waited for invitations and money from the royals of the time. In 1770, he wrote Mitridate re di Ponto,
and then two more operas, Leopold hoping that Wolfgang would get a professional appointment in
Italy, but this was not to happen. Between 1773 and 1777 Wolfgang was employed as a court musician
by the ruler of Salzburg, during which time he composed five violin concerti and then several piano

The Pros And Cons Of Alcohol Advertisements
Many entrepreneur s objectives are to grab the people s attention to focus on their product or
understand the reasoning why they promote it in that way. People get different messages throughout
the advertisement that is promoted. These people tend to go after what society goes after. If the
product is not on trend, then it must have a creative slogan for the society, so they have something to

could be reached out. As an example, the first advertisement of Budweiser consists of animals. Ethos

If a situation like this were to arise than the company with the least costs and own distribution center
will most likely be the only one to survive due to the fact that they will be able to offer the consumer
the one thing that they want the most, the cheapest price. * Threat of new entrant:
The threat of new entry in today s beverage market is low because of several factors. However we are
only going to discuss the main points of why the threat is low in today s market which include; High
cost barriers due to the role of bottlers, saturated American market due to brand loyalty created by
Pepsi and Coke, emerging markets laws and regulations, and costly risks to match consumer taste
trends and preferences.
Each of the 3 main competitors in the beverage industry has some type of bottling process which is a
part of their manufacturing and distribution process. As I stated above, in rivalry among competitors,
some of the competitors such as Pepsi and Coke own their own bottling companies. This is a major
advantage to possess however if they do not own them then they have created legal documented
agreements with these franchises to only allow their products to be bottled in that particular location.

  • 2. Zeitoun Essay Questions Questions for Zeitoun 1. How do disastrous situations bring about the extremes of human nature? What motivates the behaviors? In disastrous situations, humans are brought to the extremes. At first, people panic and become desperate for any solution, as seen on pg. 74 where Kathy describes an empty shelved Walmart that looked like the end of the world. Greed and lawlessness due to a lack of police is also an extreme; this is seen on pgs. 128 129 when Zeitoun encounters a gang robbing a Shell station on his way to work, it had thugs armed with guns. It is even more clear on page 175, where Mayor Nagin described the events in the Superdome, About three days we were basically rationing...that s why the people, in my opinion, they got to this almost animalistic state...they were trapped...for five days watching dead bodies, watching hooligans killing people, raping people... Mayor Nagin says that the feeling of desperateness, of being trapped, and of helplessness made people animalistic. On the other hand and to a lesser extent, people like Zeitoun show an opposite extreme. After Katrina, Zeitoun developed a hero complex after rescuing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time, the direness of a situation could make a person do anything to survive, and he/she might only see the full scope afterwards. This can be seen in Officer Gonzales and Lima s confessions. They both said that New Orleans was like a third world country or a place of anarchy. This made both of them uneasy, Lima saying My state of mind was rattled. Under the threat of gangs, Lima and Gonzales arrested Zeitoun and his three friends but only later did they realize that Zeitoun et al were innocent; Gonzales eventually expressed his regret. Zeitoun also fought for life by enduring prison treatment with his deteriorating physical condition. He also felt guilty that he could not comfort his worrying wife and children because of his choice to stay in New Orleans that wound him up in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Criminal Processes in England and Wales Criminal process in England and Wales The values of accountability, effective performance, rights protection, democracy and confidence are primarily promoted by the oversight of the criminal process provided by the courts, independent administrative bodies and the public. Josef K. states, By running off some unknown painter, with , as he had to admit, very little hope of any vague benefit, this quote is showing that K has slim to nothing for lawyers, he has been looking and all he can find is a painter to help. All he wants is some help, and for him life to go back to normal, but he knows deep down that there is no hope. Pym keeps giving up hope, he states, May God forgive me, but now, for the first time, there flashed through my mind a thought, a thought which I will not mention, and I felt myself making a step toward the ensanguined spot, what he is saying is that he doesn t want to think or see the death of Augustus. He doesn t want to realize that he is gone. This is an example if loss go hope because even if he knows that Augustus will not recover he doesn t want to believe it, which causes him to give up and lose hope. Pym is constantly having obstacles thrown at him, and that is the reason he loses hope. I choose Mercedes because she is the wife of Charlie and since she is a wife, I think that she would be a great mother archetype. Mercedes is the only woman in this text not counting female dogs, and unfortunately represents a bunch of gender stereotypes that existed around the turn of the 20th Century. • 10. Evolution Of Rap During The 80 s The evolution of rap during the 80 s, 90 s and 2000 s until now. Introduction: What is rap? Rap is defined in the dictionary as: a style of popular music, developed by disc jockeys and urban blacks in the late 1970s, in which an insistent, recurring beat pattern provides the background and counterpoint for rapid, slangy, and often boastful rhyming patter glibly intoned by a vocalist or vocalists. Which implies that rap is defined by its fast, narcissistic, aggressive, and rhyming lyrics. Simply said rap is talking slightly faster than usual often accompanied by music. Rap originated in ghettos where youth had to deal with gangs, drugs, murders, rape, and racial profiling by the police. This is why rap lyrics are often about violence, drugs, money and sex, which was very controversial and often protested by parents and politicians. In this assignment I will research and discuss the origins and development of rap on a 30 year timeline, as well as the surrounding controversy and internal conflicts of the rap industry. I cannot fathom the pain that the soldiers in these situations must have felt, but I can understand the factors that allowed for their killing. I believe the moral factor most relevant in mercy killing is dignity. As humans, we offer sympathy for our peers that are suffering. In addition, we help them to keep their dignity by trying to ease their pains. In the second scenario, the author describes a scene in which a fallen German soldier screams in pain and calls for his mother throughout the night. It is understood that the German will not survive as he was stranded, and as members of the same profession, we should respect the German s dignity by putting him out of his suffering. Considering that he will not survive, we recognize the pain he feels is unwarranted, so why allow him suffer and scream? If the goal were to simply fill more potholes than you normally fill than each crew could fill one more pothole than they normally do and still meet the goal but this would probably not get the work done as fast and it needs to be. This goal is also a clear standard because of the different working conditions each crew operates in. Asking each crew to fill 5 more potholes than normal might prove to be easy for one crew and extremely hard for another, depending on the conditions. Each crew was also given a step by step sheet on how to properly fill each pothole. This will make each fill last longer, therefore, making less work for the future. Nurses encounter ethical dilemmas when conflicting values and judgments are present regarding what is the best course of patient care. Ethical dilemmas are faced by nurses on a daily bases. I am choosing two of these dilemmas to address. 1. Empirical Knowledge vs. Personal Beliefs: Empirical knowledge is the type of knowledge that includes empirical research, scientific enquiry, reductionism and positivism, it is often viewed as true or valid knowledge that can be theoretically explained by scientific traditional ideas like psychology, pharmacology, sociology and biology or by rigorous empirical testing which include knowledge from books, journals and conferences. Example: If a patient is diagnosed with cancer the nurse has a simple list of description like observations, tables of evidence, graphs, empirical hypothesis, empirical definitions, generalizations, and scientific laws with no personal knowledge to help the patient understand. Regular pirates have little to no affiliation with each other, whereas all the privateers that Queen Elizabeth hired worked together to achieve the same goal. Because of this, they accomplished very large feats. If they hadn t worked together, winning the war would have been extremely difficult. The teamwork of the privateers is what intimidated the King of Spain and allowed them to severely damage the Armada (Sir Francis Drake). The unity of the privateers with the Royal English Navy also had a large impact on the war. If England was to win, teamwork between the Navy and the privateers was very important. If they hadn t gotten along, several battles could have been lost just because of arguments. Elizabethan privateers focused on capturing ships rather than destroying them. Whether it be while you are walking down the street, shopping at the supermarket, or even in the safety of your own home enjoying some tv in your down time. Advertising, whether it be big or small is everywhere; and in fact there are many issues with it. Advertising that promotes a service or product in a deceptive way is highly unethical. This is because it doesn t provide the customer with enough information that they need in order to make a good, educated decision. There wouldn t be anything to smile about if I got fired for being too slow. Hey, Sam. Maxie. Hey, Bucky, she replied, You finally got a free afternoon? Hardly. No, girl, I m on the clock right now. Just dropping off some parts to a guy up the block.
