Romeo And Juliet Tybalt Conflict
Forever drawing their words, the Capulets and Montagues reveal no temptation to halt the ancient
feud between them. As the son of the Montague, Romeo, reveals his presence in a Capulet party,
Tybalt flares with rage, declaring to Lord Capulet, That men there s a Montague, our foe. A villain
who has come here in spite to mock at our celebration tonight. (I.v.62 64). Tybalt conveys his irritation
towards Lord Capulet, exhibiting his passion and devotion towards the conflict among the two
families. Although the reason for Tybalt s frustration reaches Capulet, Capulet mentions how the
Montagues can stay as long as they remain civil. Thus, originating a question in the reader s mind as
to why people of the newer generation express more emotions ... Show more content on

However, the inquiry at hand does not emphasize the hatred among the two houses, but instead,
questions their reasoning for such an ongoing rivalry. Friar Lawrence additionally states, For this
alliance may happily prove to end your families feud, their hate remove. (II.iii.96 97). Not only does
the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as
the Montague, Friar Lawrence. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly based
off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles the
rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of impartiality
from youths. Moreover, the audience can infer how if these characters consider the thoughtless
purpose of the conflict, problems would not have surfaced when Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and
Juliet, where his only motive composes of the elimination of the Capulet Montague strife. Through the
inclusion of an unknown purpose for the obstinate feud, William Shakespeare depicts a probable
reason for the troubles and possible despair of various

Unrestricted Progression
The Light of Unrestricted Progression The average human lifestyle has drastically improved over the
past several years. Advances in medicine and technology have directly led to an irrevocable increase
in both the quality of living, as well as the length of average lifetimes. Prior to this modern revolution
of medical applications, humans who lived during the middle ages were stricken with plagues, disease,
injuries, and other difficulties with health that greatly wreaked havoc on mortality rates. Since
remaining in a state of adequate health is so fundamental to human satisfaction and progression,
individuals have historically centered the majority of their existence on ensuring that the underlying

The benefits and opportunities to embrace engineering far outweigh the difficulties in the process, but
despite this, my pure love for mathematics has been the major contributor to my ambitions. From a
young age, I found math incredibly enjoyable. The order and consistency found through something as
simple as the order of operations served as a driving force to my curiosity and dedication to the
subject. As the mathematical concepts intensified, I was able to adequately keep up and enjoy the
journey along the way. While signing up for my senior year classes, the decision to take calculus was
made easily. While speaking with the instructor, Yvonne Sebastian, I discovered that her love for math
was derived from similar feelings. In an interview with Sebastian, she stated, Math is a beautiful thing.
Numbers are incredibly simple, but they can be used to calculate very complex scenarios. No matter
how difficult a problem may seem, there is always a solution, an answer that can be found and
understood through the power of math (Y. Sebastian, personal communication, February 14, 2017).
Interacting with a teacher who understood to a great level of degree my similar feelings regarding
math has been an incredible motivator in my desire to pursue a career which incorporates mathematics
frequently. For any individual to be happy with their occupation, I would argue that they must
experience a desire to progress

An Inappropriate Medication For Medical Patient Safety...
INTRODUCTION An inappropriate medication use that can harm a patient or no therapeutic effect is
considered as the pharmaceutical error, as according to the Malaysian National Patient Safety Council.
The pharmaceutical error can be caused by the mistakes done by physicians, pharmacists, healthcare
professionals, nurses or patients itself in either diagnosis or administration of drugs. The
pharmaceutical error is an event that can be prevented. Generally, every step in treating of a patient,
including diagnosis, dispensing of drugs and administration, should be done accurately without
estimation. The consequences of medication error can lead to complication or death in patients.
According to American Hospital Association, the medication error can be caused by incomplete
patient information (such as history of patient), unavailable information of drugs (which is lead to
wrong route of administration), miscommunication of prescription order, lacks of appropriate labelling
or even environmental factors. For instance, a patient complained that his skin began to rash and itchy
after taking certain drugs. After investigation, there was no error in diagnosis in his disease, but the
problem was the patient did not mention his allergy to certain drug contents and there was no any drug
allergy test such as blood test and skin test before dispensing the drug. From this example, it had
proven that how importance are the records and details of patients in dispensing the medications.

Rocky Mountain Locust Essay
First part (physical description): Jackson: The Rocky Mountain Locust, Melanoplus spretus, resembles
the common grasshopper. It is of the Acridinae or short horned grasshopper, family, a family found all
through North America, distinguished by a spine located near where the first two legs attach. The
Rocky Mountain Locust was 20 35 mm in length, or around 1 inch long. The Locust could also rub its
legs together to chirp and had wings were long and capable of flight. The wings stretched further past
its abdomen in comparison to its closest living relative, Melanoplus sanguinipes, the red legged
grasshopper. The Rocky Mountain Locust was migratory, swarming from California to North Dakota
and Texas.
Second part (behavioral characteristics):
Artemis: Locusts have two phases: 1) a phase in which they are solitary, and 2) a phase in which they
swarm together in large groups, this is called the gregarious phase . The locusts used to swarm every 7
12 years and would cover huge areas. One swarm in 1875 was said to be 110 miles wide and 1800
miles long and was tracked by telegraph. This swarm has gone into the record books as the largest
mass of animals in recorded history. It was a lot of insects! Locusts swarm after a large enough group
has gathered together, usually after periods of rain, which led to an increase in the plants that the
insects eat. If enough locusts group together, they will stimulate the release of a chemical called
serotonin in their bodies. The

Humorous Narrative Of Chiachaiachaiach
Humorous Narrative Chiachaiachaiach A television news broadcast interrupts a loud conversation,
everyone that had been talking stopped to listen to the next installment of the story of notorious
gangster Breven Caltavious. The silence is filled by a droning local news anchor telling the gruesome
but brief account of how Breven Caltavious died. A story like this could never be broadcasted over the
news; no one knew how the story really ended but the story of how it began was widely known. As
everyone knows, this story begins near a churning river near Ashland Ohio. Breven, before he added
Caltavious to his name, was just known as Breven in the box. Breven was known as the town idiot and

Familiarity Principle
Familiarity Principle/ Mere Exposure Effect
One example of how evolutionary perspectives can inform social psychological research is the
concept of the mere exposure effect or familiarity principle. The mere exposure effect is a
psychological phenomenon by which people tend to develop a preference for things merely because
they are familiar with them (Zajonc, 2001). In a recent experiment/study by ________ (___), it was

75% of male participants indicated that they would ask a woman to have sex with them after a brief

My Old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General ( Bg )
I have chosen to write about my old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General(BG) Peter Jones. The
then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq.
He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an unwavering
presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my
military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success
whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I have set my standards of
leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of influence. I will outline some
examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were numerous times were people would try and pressure him into a decision by noting there
was no time for indecision. He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before
reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what
a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He
was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed
due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed
this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward
position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area
for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He
had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told
numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had
planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I
learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong
intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. BG Jones was a lead from
the front style of leader. He would not sit idly by while his

Santa Ana Winds In Joan Didion s Santa Ana
In her article Santa Ana , Joan Didion explain how the Santa Ana winds affect human behavior. While
informing the reader with facts about the Santa Ana she demonstrates that the Santa Ana winds cause
people to act irritably, erratically and strangely and makes people become greatly unhappy.
When describing the winds, Didion paints a somber and gloomy picture. There is something uneasy in
the Los Angeles air... some unnatural stillness, some tension, starts the article off with the image of
Los Angeles people in a sense of stillness or tense. Didion continues by explaining that the uneasiness
is because the Santa Ana winds have arrived. Through the pictures that Didion paints, the reader
begins to see the Santa Ana winds as an uncomfortable atmosphere. She then adds, Blowing up
sandstorms out along Route 66... we will see smoke back in the canyons, and hear sirens in the night,
further proving the uneasiness that comes with the somber image of Los Angeles. The baby frets. The
maid sulks, she adds, painting the distressing image of the effect that the Santa Ana has on people.

Kant s Theory Of Doubt
DOUBT AND CERTAINTY: A PHILOSOPHICAL RELATIONSHIP OF THE TWO
PARADOXICAL NOTIONS
I. INTRODUCTION
It is a human nature to be somewhat terrified to the unknown. However, the world is a giant
conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other hand,
humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain and aware
on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it possible for
humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans do not have
any hint of doubt?
The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality,
existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. Philosophizing is asking the right questions to
come up with the right answers. Relevantly, the feeling of doubt impels man to ask philosophical ...

EXPOSITION OF THE TWO NOTIONS
A. Understanding Doubt
Doubt is generally defined as a state of mind; some would say an affliction of the mind. It refers to a
condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as true. 1
When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the correctness
of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something.
Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of
quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably
not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a very
probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not accept
the statement as absolutely true.
Additionally, if a doctor were to tell a close relative of a seriously ill patient that there is a very good
chance of recovery, one may have some doubts about what the physician

2.1 Web Accessibility
Currently the use of multimedia such as sound, still images, moving images are all used in all website
to make their content more interesting and to make the design of the website aesthetically pleasing,
interesting and easy to read. Therefore, it is a necessity to think how accessible of the content of the
website is, this is called web accessibility which accommodates all the users, such as those with
disabilities, normal users, or elderly. This is particularly important for those with disabilities, websites
should be made with consideration for this group and the content and services should be made
accessible as equal as those normal users (Henry, 2006). Carter and Markel (2001) found that only 1%
of web developers pay attention to the accessibility of the website, this is because most web
developers believe that to make the website accessible a lot of resources would be required, such as
times and money. Currently, there are many websites being developed and more users using. When

Prevention of Criminal Activity in Society
Introduction With the passage of time, as human life has become faster paced and the greed of wants
have increased, crime rates in the society have increased as well. While there are laws and legislations
to deal with criminals but that is once the act of crime has been performed. Like they say, prevention
is better than cure, it is advisable to take steps on individual level to prevent a criminal activity to curb
the risks of damage. One of the highest prevalent criminal activity in the world, and in the United
States of America in particular are robberies. Robberies generally involve armed criminals invading a
premises and looting away the valuables in both cash and kind. Over a period of time technology has
been invented and incorporated in security systems to prevent the risk of robberies. That said, without
an efficient security management plan, that kind of a technology can not only prove to be futile, but
can also backfire. It is therefore very necessary to have an efficient security management plan in place
that is in compliance with the overall security measures of the premises. One of the most vulnerable
places for robberies are banks, and mainly commercial banks. Banks are prone to robberies because
not only they offer huge amount of money accumulation at a single point at a single time, but also
their public accessibility makes penetration easy for robbers. However, over a period of time, after
security systems have been revolutionized, even bank robbers

Effects Of Stigma On African Americans
Social stigma is defined as the censure of, or dissatisfaction with, a person due to a physical, social, or
psychological feature(s) that differentiates that individual from the cultural norm (Goffman, 1963).
Being accepted by others is considered an essential human need, being ostracized or marginalized can
be psychologically deleterious for the stigmatized individual (Goffman, 1963). Dating back to our
caveman days, stigma has a profound impact on people s mental and physical health in a variety of
populations, as well as their fight for survival in the wild (e.g., the effect of racism on
African Americans: (Voelkl et al 1991). In addition to overt stigmas, such as those attached to an
individual s race and gender, there are also stigmas that are attached to less apparent, concealable
identities, such as those attached to an individual s sexual orientation, mental illness and so on
(Pachankis, 2007).
In a culture that exalts motherhood to the highest conceivable honor a woman can achieve there is a
group of people that are only recently talked about that are stigmatized they are women who do not
have children the childless or child free women.
In traditional societies, the childless woman was marked in some sense as having failed in satisfying a
fundamental female function bearing children. She may have been pitied or scorned or even treated
with consolation by fecund contemporaries but she remained nonetheless an outsider, a woman who,
for whatever reason,

Recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate Essay
Recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate
In the United States, over 245 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) was produced by
consumers in 2005. This is approximately 4.5 pounds of trash per person per day.[3] This same year,
79 million tons of waste were recycled, a dramatic increase from 15 million tons in 1980.[3] Of the
total MSW in 2003,11.1% (26.7 million tons) was plastic. Although only 3.9% of plastics disposed in
2003 were recycled, PET was recovered at a rate of 25%.[4]
There are six classifications of plastics, each assigned a number. Numbers 1 and 2 are commonly
recycled, 4 is recycled less, and the others are generally not recycled. The first is polyethylene
terephthalate (PET).[2] PET is commonly used in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other plastics, marked with a 7, are made of mixtures of plastics and have no recycling potential.[2]
The plastic Grace and I chose was polyethylene terephthalate. It is used for water and soft drink
bottles, peanut butter jars, and other impact resistant bottles as well as textiles.[1] PET is a semi
crystalline, thermoplastic polyester.[6] Its mechanical properties include excellent tensile and impact
strength, chemical resistance, clarity, processability, color ability and thermal stability. PET is
mechanically processed by extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding.[1] The post consumer
PET recycling industry was initiated by the fact that it is non degradable in nature, since its molecules
are too large to decompose.[1] There are four methods of processing PET: primary, mechanical,
chemical, and energy recovery.[6] Primary recycling is the most popular, inexpensive method as it
deals only with uncontaminated, clean waste PET. This ensures a quality product. Mechanical
recycling of PET consists of contamination removal and extrusion into the appropriate shape for the
desired use after recycling. In contamination removal, the PET bottles are sorted, ground into flakes,
and washed. PVC must be separated from bottles in order to keep the product as pure as possible.[1]
After grinding, flakes are washed with water and detergent or a solvent. Flakes must be dried
thoroughly in order to obtain a quality product. Finally, flakes are

One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula
Jeffrey Hinkle
Professor Ramirez
English 303B

Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram
Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger. Uniquely,
in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were asleep, and
their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story so far in Dracula,
because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when people are sleeping.
Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big emphasis on sleeping
throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person in their most vulnerable
state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unwise to sleep anywhere in the castle, besides his room. Of course, this gives me an unnerving
feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be wise for Harker to
heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and he found himself in
grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the same room he fell asleep in.
However, Dracula stepped in and saved Harker, but I found out exactly how weak a person is when

Social Dominance Theory Of Police Brutality
Violence: Police Brutality
Police brutality is a kind of human rights violation that occurs in every community due to the use of
excessive force. Many people have witnessed or have become victims of police brutality. In their line
of duty, police officers are sometimes faced with threatening circumstances that enable them to make
haste decisions when expecting the worst at the same time hope for the best outcome. A police officer
is given the power to maintain law and order as well as to take away any right of a citizen when a
situation permits (Heydon, 2005). Thus, they have the responsibility to apply the forces in a
recommended way. Therefore, police are trained to use the least amount of force necessary to make an
arrest by using escalations of force. However, sometimes police exceed the minimum amount required
to diffuse an incident or protect them, which leads to misconduct or undue violence when not
warranted.
Police brutality and their behaviors can be explained based on different theories. For example, the
social dominance theory asserts that the white people are the dominant group in the
American society. Thus, they are not succumbed to the police brutality compared to other races
(Chaney and Robertson 480). This social dominance theory is then used by the whites to justify the
police behaviors of the use of excessive force on blacks by mentioning that the blacks indeed deserve
brutality by the police officers since they normally resist arrests, they engage in thug activities as well
as taking prohibited drugs. Based on the theory, it is noted that about 38% of the Whites and 90% of
the blacks view police brutality to be targeting the blacks (Chaney and Robertson 480). Consequently,
the officers who participate in such acts are usually promoted to higher ranks rather than facing
interdiction or charges. These are normally done by the justice system even if there is a strong
evidence which includes camera footage, testimonies from witnesses as well as analysis from the
experts. For example, Eric Garner s case portrayed a scene whereby a police officer was acquitted of
murder charges despite numerous evidences that was odd with the acquittal (Chaney and Robertson
480).

IRISH IMMIGRATION IN 1850 S 3
Most of the Irish immigrants faced many prejudices and segregation. The nativists and the other
immigrants were afraid of them because of their religion and beliefs. They were forced to live in slums
and in poverty because they could not find jobs. The only work they could find was in servitude and
menial labor jobs. They were under educated and poor. The Irish were thought to be stupid and
ignorant, so they stayed to themselves.
The Irish emigrants entered a land with new social and cultural differences. At this time the African
Americans and Asian Americans were involved in disputes, along with the European Americans. Add
to this the disruptions between the Catholics and Protestants and there was not much peace in the

Mahatma Gandhi Contributions
Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October 2nd, 1869. His parents were Karamchand
Uttamchand Gandhi and Putlibai Gandhi. He was named Mahatma in his early life, which means great
soul and some said he was a reincarnation of Vishnu, who was the second god in the Hindu group of
three. Gandhi was influential in religious, political and equality practices.
In Gandhi s early life (30 to early 40 s) he accomplished life changing events that set him on a path
that leads to helping all kinds of people. His first major influence was when he fought against racial
discrimination in South Africa in 1893. At the time of his arrival he faced common discrimination
against people of color. The Natal Assembly was going to make a law that banned voters that were not
of European origin. Another influence he had was in 1906 in South Africa. There was a law placed
that required all Asian men who were in the Transvaal Province to be fingerprinted and have a form of
pass. So Gandhi started the Satyagraha (AKA truth force) campaign of nonviolent resistance. He
advised that Indians defy the law and take the punishments that come with the act of rebelliousness.
This movement got more serious in 1914 when there was a £3 tax on ex indentured Indians and the
state refused to acknowledge Indian marriages. Satyagraha went on for 7 years, during which
thousands of Indians were put into cuffs and some were killed. In 1914 the £3 tax was removed and
marriages were recognized due to the uproar

B2B eCommerce Best Practices Guide Accepting Online Payments
Accepting Online Payments from Multiple Gateways
Traditional B2B invoicing, on account arrangements and payments by check prove increasingly
inefficient when companies can get immediate payments using credit cards and integrating other
mobile payment systems into their eCommerce platforms. Technology and faster communications,
secure encryptions of financial information and growing acceptance of mobile payments are
influencing business to business organizations to offer more payment options to their customers.
Integrating multiple payment solutions not only leads to faster payments and better cash flow but also
simplifies accounting and provides backup verifications of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Studies show that eight billion invoices paid by check cost U.S. businesses $100 billion in annual
processing costs.[1]
Most B2B companies struggle to implement electronic payment systems primarily because of the
challenges of integrating with out of the box accounting software and antiquated legacy systems.
However, 91 percent of all adults now use mobile phones and can easily pay companies directly with
check cards, credit cards or other mobile payment options.[2] Customizing a B2B website for multiple
payment options provides long term benefits that will only increase with time and enable increased
automation of company processes. These include automated options for recurring billing, interactive
voice response or IVR technology for confirming orders and taking credit card or billing information
and Virtual Negotiation technology for speeding agreements and handling payment disputes. Mobile
payments grew more than 9 percent annually in 2013 and now account for more than 40 percent of
global revenue.[3] McKinsey predicts a sustained annual growth rate for mobile payments in excess of
6 percent that should surpass $2 trillion annually by 2020.
Accepting multiple payment types increases the value of any eCommerce platform by empowering
customers and simplifying the billing payment cycle. It s a new world for B2B companies that stand to
benefit from these technologies, but there are

Wildland Fire Essay
Virtually everywhere in the United States is affected to one degree of another by wildland fires. Even
if a community is not directly involved with the fire itself, chances are that some of its members have
gone to help fight wildland fires in other areas of the country by providing manpower, financial
support, or other humanitarian aid.
Policies regarding the handling of wildland fires continue to change and evolve as new information is
learned each fire season. Attitudes have changed between complete wildland fire suppression to no
suppression at all. We now seem to have reached a balance between the two schools of thought and
fall somewhere in the middle.

605). Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it only changes form. There are several sources of heat.
These sources are chemical, mechanical, electrical, and nuclear.
Chemical The most common source of heat for the purpose of firefighting comes from chemical
reactions. When something burns, it is the result of a chemical reaction where heat is being released.
Pyrolysis is the decomposition or transformation of a compound caused by heat. (Coleman, et al. 81)
Mechanical The mechanical source of heat deals the heat that is created from friction. Friction is a
resistive force that occurs from the rubbing or compression of materials. For firefighters, this source of
fire is seen mostly in industrial machinery (Coleman, et al. 81).
Electrical An electric current exists when there is a net flow of charge through a given area. Electrons
flow from the negatively charged region to the positively charged region. This is usually accomplished
by using an electrical conductor which allows the electrons to pass freely through the material
(Serway, et al. 709). This flow of electrons can generate heat when collisions between the molecules
and electrons occur. These collisions then cause the molecules to break apart thus releasing heat. Some
common examples of electrical energy are lightning, static electricity, and wiring outlets (Coleman, et
al. 82). For the wildland firefighter, lightning is probably the

Essay On Stimulants
Some of the most commonly abused substances, that can cause serious psychological and physical
side effects are stimulants. Substance abuse has been a problem in the United States and many other
countries for a long time, stimulants are one of the biggest problems that the United States faces today.
One specific drug that is abused is crack and crack cocaine. By examining the history of stimulants
such as crack and crack cocaine, it s connection to crime and violence will be revealed. Psychoactive
drugs, such as stimulants have a lot to do with the alteration or manipulation of brain activity (Cherry,
K., 2015). A good example of how stimulants can alter brain activity would be, after a person takes a
drugs such is cocaine they may experience a feeling of elevated alertness temporarily. According
toCherry, K. (2015), drugs that are classified as stimulants include: caffeine, narcotics, cocaine,
amphetamines and prescription drugs. The most common legitimate use for stimulant that drugs,
would be for ADHD. The most common illegal uses for stimulant drugs would be for sports, parties
and college students (studying). Stimulants work by increasing the speed of the the messages going

drugs are widely used very addictive, while some of these drugs are illegal many of them are not. The

10 Things I Hate About You Gender Stereotypes
In today s society, men and women are confronted with gender stereotypes daily. In the texts Ten

Darrow and Stupid Girls by Pink, the roles of men and women are perceived in different ways. Some
characters in each text challenge the typical stereotype whilst others accept it.

Cause and Effect in David Hume’s An Enquiry Concerning...
Cause and Effect in David Hume s An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding
In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, David Hume states, there is not, in any single,
particular instance of cause and effect, any thing which can suggest the idea of power or necessary
connexion (Hume, 1993: 41). Hume establishes in section II that all ideas originate from impressions
that employ the senses (11). Therefore, in order for there to be an idea of power or necessary
connexion, there must be impressions of this connection present in single instances of cause and
effect; if there are no such impressions, then there cannot be an idea of necessary connexion (52). To
illustrate his statement, Hume examines four situations: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From here follows three arguments. The first argument proposes that conscious of our will stipulates
our understanding of the connexion between soul and body and how these two operate with each other
to create our will. Since we have no concept of the union of soul and body, there is no impression of
connexion present through these means. The second argument raises the issue of why there are
involuntary organs, such as the heart, that the will is unable to control (43). If we were truly
knowledgeable about the power with which the will functions we would understand the existence of
these limitations of the physical body and the reason behind the difference between voluntary and
involuntary organs. The third argument addresses the motion of the body. The mind wills an event and
the motion is observed, but we are unable to observe or conceive the tie [ connexion ], which binds
together the motion and volition, or the energy by which the mind produces this effect (49). Hume
summarizes that these three arguments prove that our idea of power is not copied from any sentiment
or consciousness of power within ourselves (44).
Next, Hume explores the existence of necessary connextion when the will commands a new idea.
Again there are three arguments. In the first argument the soul s production of an idea is examined: it
is a real creation; a production of something out of nothing (45).

Worldcom Case Summary
I learned some new things from the case article that were not mentioned in Cynthia Cooper s book
titled Extraordinary Circumstances. However, the gist of it was the same. I will focus my paragraphs
based on the three questions.
What are the pressures that lead executives and managers to cook the books? There are several factors
that can come into play. For WorldCom, it started with the deterioration of the industry in 2000. This
was due to overcapacity, heightened competition, the economic recession, the dot com bubble
collapse, and a reduced demand for telecommunications services. All of these factors put extra
pressure on WorldCom s most important performance indicator, the expense to revenue ratio. The
company was so concerned about keeping it above 42% that they were willing to do anything, even
commit fraud. Bernie Ebbers told the senior staff that they would lose everything if the company did
not improve its performance.
This leads into my second pressure, which deals with personal lives. Employees were receiving
tremendous benefits due to the company s great performance. However, if the company did not
improve, people s salaries would be cut or even worse, their jobs would be cut. That is why so many
people were willing to engage in the fraud, because they felt WorldCom was supplying a salary and
benefits that other companies would not be able to match. Betty Vinson was a prime example. She
knew that releasing line accruals was wrong, but needed to

St. Louis Catholic School
When driving past the modest copper bricked building topped with a bulky black roof, one might only
see it as just a school for children; however, there is so much more to it than what meets the eye. The
large black cross that clings to the front entrance wall suggests to its visitants the school s religious
affiliation which is further evidenced by the name St. Louis in slate black lettering on the wall parallel
to it. St. Louis Catholic School was established in 1964 in Princeton, Illinois as a pre school through
eighth grade elementary school and is still today. It remains the only Catholic elementary school in
Bureau Country, making it unique to the area. Although the class sizes tend to be small with regards to
the quantity of students, the many experiences that the school provides including the encouragement
of creativity, providing a friendly and comfortable classroom environment and the stress on the
formation of a loving community live with the students for the majority of their lives. St. Louis, as a
school, provides children with the opportunity to be as imaginative as they can possibly be. This
imaginative spirit is observed by the effulgently colorful pictures created by the fictive minds of the
students, starring center stage on the windows that wrapped themselves tightly around the school like
a bow on a package. Next to the building lies a lengthy plot of land. On it resides a flamboyantly
colored playground set which lures adventurous children in to

Jane Eyre vs Wide Sargasso Sea Essay example

Symbolism through Theme Of Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea To produce a mighty book, you must
choose a mighty theme. No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea, though many
there be that have tried it, stated Herman Melville. As implied, without theme, no novel can be
considered mighty or have any depth. Theme is essential in any work of art. Jane Eyre is a novel by
Charlotte Brontë that takes the reader through the experiences of Jane Eyre, from childhood to
adulthood. This includes her love for Mr. Rochester, who is the master of Thornfield Hall, the school
in which Jane works at as an adult. Wide Sargasso Sea, a novel by Jean Rhys, includes ... Show more

In some cases, it is a symbol used in some cases for rebirth or new life. Jane is often compared to fire
while Antoinette is intrigued by fire. Jane is referred to as a ridge of lighted health, alive, glancing,
devouring (Wide Sargasso Sea, Chapter 4). Also, in Wide Sargasso Sea, Rochester loves the immense
fireflies as he also loves the candles that Antoinette repeatedly puts out around the house. This theme
of fire is obvious in two particular cases. One of these cases is when Coulibri is burned and Anette
falls into insanity, and the other being when Bertha burns Thornfield down, ultimately killing herself
and seriously injuring Rochester (Symbolism in Wide Sargasso Sea). In addition, Rochester, in Wide
Sargasso Sea, describes the West Indies as fiery . This shows his dislike of the land he is not familiar
with until it increases and reaches the point when he decides to shoot himself. This scene relates to the
scene in Jane Eyre when Jane hears Rochester s voice as she walks through the woods. Fire relates
Jane and Antoinette in different ways. Fire additionally describes Jane s love for Rochester, while on
the other hand; it describes Antoinette s pain and fear, whereas it also links Jane and Bertha. The fire
that Jane possesses is her love for Rochester as she describes it as fiery iron grasped my vitals, and
Bertha s literal setting of the fire that kills her. This is symbolic of the new

Mortgage Underwriting Essay
When a lender is offering a mortgage loan to a borrower, he or she has to determine what are the risks
involved. In order to determine these risks, the lender uses a process known as mortgage underwriting,
in which some parameters are assessed. The underwriters consider risks that fall under the category of
credit, capacity and collateral. The decision of the underwriter is the final one to either approve a loan
or decline it. This process is so cumbersome that lenders at times contract mortgage underwriting.
There are several benefits of using contract mortgage underwriting services.
Since this is a complex process, small businesses that are trying to gain foothold in the market do not
have enough money to employ enough mortgage underwriters. Mortgage processing is a competitive
industry and it is possible that small businesses face stiff rivalry from their competitors. Stiff
competition coupled with meager working capital is often an impediment in using in house mortgage
underwriters. Thus it makes sense to hire contract underwriting services. ... Show more content on

Every borrower and every loan is different. A guideline that is working well for one borrower may not
fit another borrower. However, there are certain aspects that are standard for every borrower. There is
an old saying that goes like this: If your portfolio does not have one foreclosure, you are not accepting
enough risk. So even if the borrower has met all guidelines of the loan program he or she has applied
to, the mortgage underwriter will still assess it carefully and will exercise caution. It is important for
the underwriter to review a loan application from all points of view otherwise the banks may turn
down a loan. If a loan application shows high risk from one point of view, but shows low risk overall,
there is a chance that the loan may be

Alexie, it says that But I felt no such need that night, and I realized we d completed the rebuilding

dusty and shuttered house (166). The man told a lie beside his girlfriend a few years ago, which
caused a problem between their relation and it lasted for almost thirty years. In my opinion, the
problem was caused by the character of the man, but it happened when he was young. When people
were young, they might not think in a mature way, so it was possible for them to make mistakes.
However, the problem still existed for a long period, that s why people marriage is a tough stuff. Each

Then he stepped into his back room and returned with my grandmother s regalia. Take it, I don t want

opinion, I think at first, the pawnbroker didn t want the Indian s money at all. $999 is not expensive
for the regalia, but it is unaffordable for a homeless Indian. When he asked the Indian for the price, he
was thinking that he would not get the $999 at all. He even gave him $20 to start raising money. I
think he just wanted this homeless Indian to prove that even if he was homeless, he could still raised
much money in a day. Actually, he was expected the Indian to collect $500 and said I did my best to
him. If the Indian could collect such a big amount of money, the Indian would be confidence of his

New World Order in Conspiracy Theory
New World Order (conspiracy theory)
This article is about the use of the term New World Order in conspiracy theory. For other uses, see
New World Order (disambiguation).
The reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States (1776). The Latin phrase novus ordo seclorum ,
appearing on the reverse side of the Great Seal since 1782 and on the back of the U.S one dollar bill
since 1935, means New Order of the Ages and only alludes to the beginning of an era where the
United States of America is an independent nation state, but is often improperly translated by
conspiracy theorists as New World Order .[1]

Thus, activists around the globe formed a world federalist movement bent on creating a real new
world order.[11] In the 1940s, British writer and futurist H. G. Wells would go further by
appropriating and redefining the term new world order as a synonym for the establishment of a
scientifically managed world state and socialist economy.[12]
During the Red Scare of 1947 1957, conspiracy theorists of the American secular and Christian right
increasingly embraced and mongered unfounded fears of Freemasons, Illuminati, and Jews being the
driving force behind an international communist conspiracy . The threat ofworld communism in the
form of a state atheistic and bureaucratic collectivist world government, demonized as a Red Menace ,
therefore became the main focus of apocalyptic millenarian conspiracism.[13]
In the 1960s, right wing populist individuals and groups with a producerist worldview, such as
members of the John Birch Society, disseminated a great deal of conspiracy theories claiming that the

  • 2. Romeo And Juliet Tybalt Conflict Forever drawing their words, the Capulets and Montagues reveal no temptation to halt the ancient feud between them. As the son of the Montague, Romeo, reveals his presence in a Capulet party, Tybalt flares with rage, declaring to Lord Capulet, That men there s a Montague, our foe. A villain who has come here in spite to mock at our celebration tonight. (I.v.62 64). Tybalt conveys his irritation towards Lord Capulet, exhibiting his passion and devotion towards the conflict among the two families. Although the reason for Tybalt s frustration reaches Capulet, Capulet mentions how the Montagues can stay as long as they remain civil. Thus, originating a question in the reader s mind as to why people of the newer generation express more emotions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the inquiry at hand does not emphasize the hatred among the two houses, but instead, questions their reasoning for such an ongoing rivalry. Friar Lawrence additionally states, For this alliance may happily prove to end your families feud, their hate remove. (II.iii.96 97). Not only does the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as the Montague, Friar Lawrence. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly based off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles the rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of impartiality from youths. Moreover, the audience can infer how if these characters consider the thoughtless purpose of the conflict, problems would not have surfaced when Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet, where his only motive composes of the elimination of the Capulet Montague strife. Through the inclusion of an unknown purpose for the obstinate feud, William Shakespeare depicts a probable reason for the troubles and possible despair of various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Unrestricted Progression The Light of Unrestricted Progression The average human lifestyle has drastically improved over the past several years. Advances in medicine and technology have directly led to an irrevocable increase in both the quality of living, as well as the length of average lifetimes. Prior to this modern revolution of medical applications, humans who lived during the middle ages were stricken with plagues, disease, injuries, and other difficulties with health that greatly wreaked havoc on mortality rates. Since remaining in a state of adequate health is so fundamental to human satisfaction and progression, individuals have historically centered the majority of their existence on ensuring that the underlying requirements necessary for life were being ... The benefits and opportunities to embrace engineering far outweigh the difficulties in the process, but despite this, my pure love for mathematics has been the major contributor to my ambitions. From a young age, I found math incredibly enjoyable. The order and consistency found through something as simple as the order of operations served as a driving force to my curiosity and dedication to the subject. As the mathematical concepts intensified, I was able to adequately keep up and enjoy the journey along the way. While signing up for my senior year classes, the decision to take calculus was made easily. While speaking with the instructor, Yvonne Sebastian, I discovered that her love for math was derived from similar feelings. In an interview with Sebastian, she stated, Math is a beautiful thing. Numbers are incredibly simple, but they can be used to calculate very complex scenarios. No matter how difficult a problem may seem, there is always a solution, an answer that can be found and understood through the power of math (Y. Sebastian, personal communication, February 14, 2017). Interacting with a teacher who understood to a great level of degree my similar feelings regarding math has been an incredible motivator in my desire to pursue a career which incorporates mathematics frequently. • 4. An Inappropriate Medication For Medical Patient Safety... INTRODUCTION An inappropriate medication use that can harm a patient or no therapeutic effect is considered as the pharmaceutical error, as according to the Malaysian National Patient Safety Council. The pharmaceutical error can be caused by the mistakes done by physicians, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, nurses or patients itself in either diagnosis or administration of drugs. The pharmaceutical error is an event that can be prevented. Generally, every step in treating of a patient, including diagnosis, dispensing of drugs and administration, should be done accurately without estimation. The consequences of medication error can lead to complication or death in patients. According to American Hospital Association, the medication error can be caused by incomplete patient information (such as history of patient), unavailable information of drugs (which is lead to wrong route of administration), miscommunication of prescription order, lacks of appropriate labelling or even environmental factors. For instance, a patient complained that his skin began to rash and itchy after taking certain drugs. After investigation, there was no error in diagnosis in his disease, but the problem was the patient did not mention his allergy to certain drug contents and there was no any drug allergy test such as blood test and skin test before dispensing the drug. From this example, it had proven that how importance are the records and details of patients in dispensing the medications. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is of the Acridinae or short horned grasshopper, family, a family found all through North America, distinguished by a spine located near where the first two legs attach. The Rocky Mountain Locust was 20 35 mm in length, or around 1 inch long. The Locust could also rub its legs together to chirp and had wings were long and capable of flight. The wings stretched further past its abdomen in comparison to its closest living relative, Melanoplus sanguinipes, the red legged grasshopper. The Rocky Mountain Locust was migratory, swarming from California to North Dakota and Texas. Second part (behavioral characteristics): Artemis: Locusts have two phases: 1) a phase in which they are solitary, and 2) a phase in which they swarm together in large groups, this is called the gregarious phase . The locusts used to swarm every 7 12 years and would cover huge areas. One swarm in 1875 was said to be 110 miles wide and 1800 miles long and was tracked by telegraph. This swarm has gone into the record books as the largest mass of animals in recorded history. It was a lot of insects! Locusts swarm after a large enough group has gathered together, usually after periods of rain, which led to an increase in the plants that the insects eat. If enough locusts group together, they will stimulate the release of a chemical called serotonin in their bodies. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Familiarity Principle Familiarity Principle/ Mere Exposure Effect One example of how evolutionary perspectives can inform social psychological research is the concept of the mere exposure effect or familiarity principle. The mere exposure effect is a psychological phenomenon by which people tend to develop a preference for things merely because they are familiar with them (Zajonc, 2001). In a recent experiment/study by ________ (___), it was found that __________________, indicating that that the likelihood of human relationships increased significantly after close contact. ______ participants ranked __________. ________% of ________had lifelong partners or were married to people whom they interacted closely with. • 8. My Old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General ( Bg ) I have chosen to write about my old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General(BG) Peter Jones. The then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq. He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an unwavering presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I have set my standards of leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of influence. I will outline some examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an ... He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. However, the world is a giant conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other hand, humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain and aware on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it possible for humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans do not have any hint of doubt? The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality, existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. EXPOSITION OF THE TWO NOTIONS A. Understanding Doubt Doubt is generally defined as a state of mind; some would say an affliction of the mind. It refers to a condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as true. 1 When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the correctness of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something. Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a very probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not accept the statement as absolutely true. Additionally, if a doctor were to tell a close relative of a seriously ill patient that there is a very good chance of recovery, one may have some doubts about what the physician ... • 13. Prevention of Criminal Activity in Society Introduction With the passage of time, as human life has become faster paced and the greed of wants have increased, crime rates in the society have increased as well. While there are laws and legislations to deal with criminals but that is once the act of crime has been performed. Like they say, prevention is better than cure, it is advisable to take steps on individual level to prevent a criminal activity to curb the risks of damage. One of the highest prevalent criminal activity in the world, and in the United States of America in particular are robberies. Robberies generally involve armed criminals invading a premises and looting away the valuables in both cash and kind. Over a period of time technology has been invented and incorporated in security systems to prevent the risk of robberies. That said, without an efficient security management plan, that kind of a technology can not only prove to be futile, but can also backfire. It is therefore very necessary to have an efficient security management plan in place that is in compliance with the overall security measures of the premises. One of the most vulnerable places for robberies are banks, and mainly commercial banks. Banks are prone to robberies because not only they offer huge amount of money accumulation at a single point at a single time, but also their public accessibility makes penetration easy for robbers. • 14. Effects Of Stigma On African Americans Social stigma is defined as the censure of, or dissatisfaction with, a person due to a physical, social, or psychological feature(s) that differentiates that individual from the cultural norm (Goffman, 1963). Being accepted by others is considered an essential human need, being ostracized or marginalized can be psychologically deleterious for the stigmatized individual (Goffman, 1963). Dating back to our caveman days, stigma has a profound impact on people s mental and physical health in a variety of populations, as well as their fight for survival in the wild (e.g., the effect of racism on African Americans: (Voelkl et al 1991). In addition to overt stigmas, such as those attached to an individual s race and gender, there are also stigmas that are attached to less apparent, concealable identities, such as those attached to an individual s sexual orientation, mental illness and so on (Pachankis, 2007). In a culture that exalts motherhood to the highest conceivable honor a woman can achieve there is a group of people that are only recently talked about that are stigmatized they are women who do not have children the childless or child free women. In traditional societies, the childless woman was marked in some sense as having failed in satisfying a fundamental female function bearing children. Recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate Essay Recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate In the United States, over 245 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) was produced by consumers in 2005. This is approximately 4.5 pounds of trash per person per day.[3] This same year, 79 million tons of waste were recycled, a dramatic increase from 15 million tons in 1980.[3] Of the total MSW in 2003,11.1% (26.7 million tons) was plastic. Although only 3.9% of plastics disposed in 2003 were recycled, PET was recovered at a rate of 25%.[4] There are six classifications of plastics, each assigned a number. PET is mechanically processed by extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding.[1] The post consumer PET recycling industry was initiated by the fact that it is non degradable in nature, since its molecules are too large to decompose.[1] There are four methods of processing PET: primary, mechanical, chemical, and energy recovery.[6] Primary recycling is the most popular, inexpensive method as it deals only with uncontaminated, clean waste PET. This ensures a quality product. Mechanical recycling of PET consists of contamination removal and extrusion into the appropriate shape for the desired use after recycling. In contamination removal, the PET bottles are sorted, ground into flakes, and washed. PVC must be separated from bottles in order to keep the product as pure as possible.[1] After grinding, flakes are washed with water and detergent or a solvent. One Of The Most Important Elements In Dracula Jeffrey Hinkle Professor Ramirez English 303B 13 July 2016 Quiz 2 on Dracula One of the most important elements in Dracula is imagery, and I believe Bram Stroker uses sleeping to show weakness in his characters and to develop a sense of danger. Uniquely, in the Victorian age, people believed a person s mind was only healthy when they were asleep, and their bodies were safer when awake. Of course, this goes hand in hand with the story so far in Dracula, because the majority of the danger in Dracula takes place at nighttime when people are sleeping. Furthermore, I believe this may be why Stroker has placed such a big emphasis on sleeping throughout Dracula; in fact, Stroker demonstrates how sleeping puts a person in their most vulnerable state. ... Of course, this gives me an unnerving feeling and a curious thought as to what else is in the castle, but I know it would be wise for Harker to heed Dracula s words. In the end, Harker did not listen to Dracula s words and he found himself in grave danger when he awoke to three blood thirsty women standing in the same room he fell asleep in. • 19. Social Dominance Theory Of Police Brutality Violence: Police Brutality Police brutality is a kind of human rights violation that occurs in every community due to the use of excessive force. Many people have witnessed or have become victims of police brutality. In their line of duty, police officers are sometimes faced with threatening circumstances that enable them to make haste decisions when expecting the worst at the same time hope for the best outcome. A police officer is given the power to maintain law and order as well as to take away any right of a citizen when a situation permits (Heydon, 2005). Thus, they have the responsibility to apply the forces in a recommended way. Therefore, police are trained to use the least amount of force necessary to make an arrest by using escalations of force. However, sometimes police exceed the minimum amount required to diffuse an incident or protect them, which leads to misconduct or undue violence when not warranted. Police brutality and their behaviors can be explained based on different theories. For example, the social dominance theory asserts that the white people are the dominant group in the American society. Thus, they are not succumbed to the police brutality compared to other races (Chaney and Robertson 480). This social dominance theory is then used by the whites to justify the police behaviors of the use of excessive force on blacks by mentioning that the blacks indeed deserve brutality by the police officers since they normally resist arrests, they engage in thug activities as well as taking prohibited drugs. Based on the theory, it is noted that about 38% of the Whites and 90% of the blacks view police brutality to be targeting the blacks (Chaney and Robertson 480). Consequently, the officers who participate in such acts are usually promoted to higher ranks rather than facing interdiction or charges. These are normally done by the justice system even if there is a strong evidence which includes camera footage, testimonies from witnesses as well as analysis from the experts. For example, Eric Garner s case portrayed a scene whereby a police officer was acquitted of murder charges despite numerous evidences that was odd with the acquittal (Chaney and Robertson 480). Gandhi was influential in religious, political and equality practices. In Gandhi s early life (30 to early 40 s) he accomplished life changing events that set him on a path that leads to helping all kinds of people. His first major influence was when he fought against racial discrimination in South Africa in 1893. At the time of his arrival he faced common discrimination against people of color. The Natal Assembly was going to make a law that banned voters that were not of European origin. Another influence he had was in 1906 in South Africa. There was a law placed that required all Asian men who were in the Transvaal Province to be fingerprinted and have a form of pass. So Gandhi started the Satyagraha (AKA truth force) campaign of nonviolent resistance. He advised that Indians defy the law and take the punishments that come with the act of rebelliousness. This movement got more serious in 1914 when there was a £3 tax on ex indentured Indians and the state refused to acknowledge Indian marriages. Pyrolysis is the decomposition or transformation of a compound caused by heat. (Coleman, et al. 81) Mechanical The mechanical source of heat deals the heat that is created from friction. Friction is a resistive force that occurs from the rubbing or compression of materials. For firefighters, this source of fire is seen mostly in industrial machinery (Coleman, et al. 81). Electrical An electric current exists when there is a net flow of charge through a given area. Electrons flow from the negatively charged region to the positively charged region. This is usually accomplished by using an electrical conductor which allows the electrons to pass freely through the material (Serway, et al. 709). This flow of electrons can generate heat when collisions between the molecules and electrons occur. These collisions then cause the molecules to break apart thus releasing heat. Cause and Effect in David Hume s An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, David Hume states, there is not, in any single, particular instance of cause and effect, any thing which can suggest the idea of power or necessary connexion (Hume, 1993: 41). Hume establishes in section II that all ideas originate from impressions that employ the senses (11). Therefore, in order for there to be an idea of power or necessary connexion, there must be impressions of this connection present in single instances of cause and effect; if there are no such impressions, then there cannot be an idea of necessary connexion (52). To illustrate his statement, Hume examines four situations: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From here follows three arguments. The first argument proposes that conscious of our will stipulates our understanding of the connexion between soul and body and how these two operate with each other to create our will. Since we have no concept of the union of soul and body, there is no impression of connexion present through these means. The second argument raises the issue of why there are involuntary organs, such as the heart, that the will is unable to control (43). If we were truly knowledgeable about the power with which the will functions we would understand the existence of these limitations of the physical body and the reason behind the difference between voluntary and involuntary organs. The third argument addresses the motion of the body. The mind wills an event and the motion is observed, but we are unable to observe or conceive the tie [ connexion ], which binds together the motion and volition, or the energy by which the mind produces this effect (49). Hume summarizes that these three arguments prove that our idea of power is not copied from any sentiment or consciousness of power within ourselves (44). Next, Hume explores the existence of necessary connextion when the will commands a new idea. Again there are three arguments. In the first argument the soul s production of an idea is examined: it is a real creation; a production of something out of nothing (45). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the gist of it was the same. I will focus my paragraphs based on the three questions. What are the pressures that lead executives and managers to cook the books? There are several factors that can come into play. For WorldCom, it started with the deterioration of the industry in 2000. This was due to overcapacity, heightened competition, the economic recession, the dot com bubble collapse, and a reduced demand for telecommunications services. All of these factors put extra pressure on WorldCom s most important performance indicator, the expense to revenue ratio. The company was so concerned about keeping it above 42% that they were willing to do anything, even commit fraud. Bernie Ebbers told the senior staff that they would lose everything if the company did not improve its performance. This leads into my second pressure, which deals with personal lives. Employees were receiving tremendous benefits due to the company s great performance. However, if the company did not improve, people s salaries would be cut or even worse, their jobs would be cut. That is why so many people were willing to engage in the fraud, because they felt WorldCom was supplying a salary and benefits that other companies would not be able to match.
