Zeus Essay
Zeus, most likely the most renowned god of all gods, the mighty god of lightning has taken part in
some of the most widely known myths of all times. Zeus has taken part in many Greek and Roman
myths alike, either as Zeus or as his Roman counterpart of Jupiter. Unlike most gods in mythology
though, Zeus is the main character in almost all of the myths he is mentioned in. Whether the myth is
about his epic clash against the Titans, his fight against the Giants or even about his extramarital
affairs, Zeus always seems to come out of these conflicts unaffected and triumphant. When examining
Zeus character though, it is important to note that Zeus is a god that exhibits human characteristics
throughout most of his myths. Growth is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Hera found out about Zeus dirty deeds, she convinced Semele to ask Zeus for proof of his true
nature. Zeus agreed and presented himself to her in his true form, Zeus true glory however burned
Semele alive. (ML 301) This myth is a prime example of Zeus human tendencies of acting like a
common man as he gives in to his more primitive needs and cheats on Hera with Semele.
Another example of Zeus predisposition for not having control over his more human needs is the fact
that Aphrodite has power over him. Aphrodite, the very powerful goddess of love and lust, flaunts
about her alleged power over Zeus. This, however, angered Zeus and led to a very stern punishment
for Aphrodite. Zeus was growing tired of Aphrodite s arrogance, so he punished her by making her fall
in love with a mortal named Anchises.
Zeus affinity for being the main character of a myth is no different in the epic myth about his fight
against Cronus and the Titans or the Titanomachy. In this larger than life battle Zeus has to overthrow
his father Cronus and take his predestined place as king of the gods. In this myth however, Zeus has to
grow and overcome many challenges that stand in his way to greatness. Zeus has to ask for help from
his mother in order to be able to free his sibling from his father Cronus who had swallowed them
whole. After Zeus frees his siblings he has to face the mighty Titans, so he asks the Cyclops and the
Hecatonchires to aid him in this battle that lasts

Achilles Hero Behavior Cycle in the Iliad Essay
The Ancient Greeks admired their heroes and tried to learn from both their achievements and their
mistakes. They believed that most great leaders and warriors followed a predictable behavior cycle,
which often ended tragically. In Homer s epic poem, The Iliad, Achilles is a great warrior who traces
the stages of the behavior cycle twice, from arete to hubris to ate and then to nemesis. Achilles is a
highly skilled warrior and a great leader who becomes a narcissist and an arrogant person, which leads
to selfish and childish behavior resulting in the death of his best friend. Following Patroclus death,
Achilles repeats the behavior cycle by regaining his courage and motivation, and goes back to battle
against Hector. The pride he feels in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

longer affect the deathless gods and mortal men! (145). All of these great qualities Achilles possesses
both start two different behavior cycles that start at different times in the epic poem. The great talents
that Achilles possesses cause him to become much admired and well known by both the Greeks and
the Trojans. He begins to believe all the good things people are say and becomes an arrogant, child
like, selfish person which all mark Achilles hubris part of his behavior cycle. Achilles shows his
arrogance when he gets angry with Agamemnon for him wanting take his prize of honor, which
Achilles worked very hard to get. Because of this, Achilles begins to lose his capability to think
straight and weigh all the factors in situations, and withdraws himself from the battle. Later on after
Achilles overcomes the death of his best friend and regains back his courage and pride, Achilles kills
Hector and thinks he is invincible for doing the great deed he did. Achilles fought Hector for honor
over all else and performed the death of Hector almost as a duty and feels proud of himself for doing
so. Before he kills Hector, Achilles declares, I will go forth to slay Hector, who killed the man the I
loved... Until then, may I win great fame and glory, and may every Trojan realize that the greatest of
the Greeks no longer remains apart from battle (145).

The Zoo Story by Edward Albee Essay
The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
In Edward Albee s play, The Zoo Story, Jerry tells Peter bizarre stories about people he has
encountered that influence his shallow and lonely existence, to demonstrate Albee s view that society
is unnecessarily consumed by indifference, unkindness, weakness, and emptiness. In an attempt to
cause Peter to realize that his own life is filled with emptiness and shallowness, Jerry tells Peter about
the lives of some of the people in his boarding house. He talks about the colored queen, the Puerto
Rican family, the landlady, and the woman who cries all the time, in hopes of causing Peter to
compare the meaninglessness of his life to their lives. In doing this, Jerry hopes Peter will realize that

Albee is commenting that people need to foster their inner selves in addition to what they allow others
to see on the outside.
Another interesting piece of information that Jerry presents to Peter about the colored queen is that he
always leaves the door open when he is plucking his eyebrows. Not only does this reinforce the fact
that he is self absorbed and materialistic, but it tells something about the inside of his persona as well.
The act of plucking one s eyebrows is quite painful, and the fact that he leaves his door open when
committing this act of self mutilation reflects the idea that he wants society to be aware of his inner
pain and strife. People are constantly looking for sympathy and for others to tell them that everything
will be all right. The colored queen is no different. He wants people to be aware that he feels pain.
Keeping his door open shows that he, like the rest society, is crying out for help, and wants to be
noticed and cared for.
While the colored queen represents the part of society that wallows in their own self pity, Albee points
out through the use of other minor characters that there are other ways of avoiding pain, and dealing
with that pain. The Puerto Rican family that lives in Jerry s building tries to escape pain instead of
dealing with it or looking for help. Their method is avoidance. They avoid pain by constantly having
fun. Jerry mentions that they entertain a lot, and it

as Shrek when I was the target age. Furthermore, I would reflect the holidays in the packaging more
predominately. Making Pillsbury doughboy a well known positive character throughout schools and
afterschool programs would greatly benefit the company s sales. This can occur by sponsoring an
across the country school board event, such as an a charity event or athletic fun days with the students
such as Me to We day. In addition, I would recommend to create a Pillsbury Dough Boy mascot to
appear at certain community events, where the sales are high in those particular jurisdictions. As well
as playing commercials on children s television channels such as Teletune and Disney. I would further
recommend keeping current on the Advertisements tactics such advertise on the newest and most

The Mystery Of Life Is Not A Problem
The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced. Kimberly. There are
many mysteries out in the world and many people do not know the outcome of ones journey, but
exploring and experiencing new things is something that one should not be afraid of. Amelia Earhart
was an out going person. She was the type of person who was always curious and enjoyed the rush of
an adventure. When she was younger she was a tomboy who did not really care about all of the girly
stuff. This expressed her personality because she liked doing things that most people found
impossible. Amelia was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane. Many people
would probably be scared to do that because of the unknown as Kimberly mention in her quote.
Earhart did everything with a passion as she shared her experiences and knowledge with others so that
they can also enjoy it. Amelia Earhart is admirable not only because she changed history, but because
she did everything with a passion, and she shared her experiences and knowledge with others so that
they could also enjoy them.
Amelia s childhood was full of adventure and traveling the world. Amelia Earhart was born July 24,
1897, she grew up in Atchison, Kansas. Earhart grew up with her sister Muriel, her father and mother,
and her grandparents. Amelia was born in her grandparent s house. (Netzley 12 ; Netzley 13). At the
age of 3, Amelia was sent to stay with her grandmother. (Fleming 7). Whenever

Neoplasm Research Paper
A malignant neoplasm is the medical terminology for Cancer, there are many types of cancers,
however, they all are comprised of unregulated cells that show growth or a change. These cells that are
cancerous, grow at a hasty rate and will take over other parts of the body, whether being another organ
or tissue surrounding the compromised body part. This can also involve the lymph nodes, as well as
travel through the bloodstream. There are many influences that contribute to the chance of developing
cancers, some of these factors include tobacco use, being overweight and not physically active,
exposures to chemicals, and poor nutrition and dietary selections, ones with mutagens in foods,
continued or excessive consumption of alcohol, eating foods which are high in fats, and red meat just
to name of few. Other types of cancer may be factored by family history, known as a genetic risk, as

1. Carcinomas are the most common cancer, these develop first in the epithelial tissue of the skin, or
nearby tissue that surrounds internal organs. Carcinoma in Situ is the beginning, invasive is when it
has started to grow and possibly spread to nearby tissue or organs, and metastic is when it has
travelled to more distal sites from the original site of origin. This form of cancer will usually spread
through the lymphatic system.
2. Sarcomas are cancers that are in the connective tissue of the body. There are two main groups for
this classification of cancer and those are osteosarcoma and soft tissue sarcomas.
3. Another classification of cancer that is one of the most common is Leukemia. Leukemia is cancer of
blood forming tissue. When this type of cancer develops it will affect the immune system by
minimizing its ability to fight infection.

College Football Game Analysis
College football is saturday afternoons. Sitting at home with your dad watching teams from schools
you never heard of. College Football is the reward for spending your morning doing yard work.
College football is tradition, one hundred year rivalries and pregame rituals. While these are all
important aspects of college football, these aren t the conversations the media and student athletes are
having. College basketball is March Madness , filling out the tournament bracket and competing with
friends. It seems as if talking about the weekend s big game has taken a backseat to conversations
about nothing to do with the actual sport. Conversations about how profitable a large school s football
or basketball program is dominate the discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with this is that some college athletes like football players are spending 40 hours a week
practicing with the team, team meetings and other team activities. Athletes also have to travel for
away games which makes the idea of having a job impossible. Between classes, 40 hours of team
activities during the week and weekends spent on the road the athletes have schedule is full (Cooper
12). Robert McCormick who was a attorney for the National Labor Relations Board and he said These
young men are laboring under very strict and arduous conditions, so they really are laborers in terms
of the physical demands on them while they re also trying to go to school and being required to go to
school. (Cooper ). Also if an athlete has a quiz the same day as practice the athlete has to miss the quiz
and take it another time. A lot of athletes are afraid that their hectic schedule will negatively affect
their grades so a lot time they take easy classes that don t require a lot of work. I also believe that if
college athletes were paid then it would incentivize them to finish their degrees most of the top college
basketball players go to school for one year and enter the NBA draft. A lot of students can t afford to
stay in school because they come from a poor background. Just this past year a student from Auburn
left school early to enter the NFl because his mother was homeless.

Investigation of the factors affecting the period of vibration of a weighted cantilever Introduction The
aim of the experiment is to find out how the period T of vibration of a weighted cantilever depends on
the vibrating length L. Hypothesis: Assume the relationship between the vibrating period T and
vibrating length L is in accord with the equation: T=kLn, where k and n are both constant values.
According to the hypothesis, the vibrating period T and vibrating length L is a linear relationship, so
we take logarithms on both sides of the equation. Then, we can get a new equation, which is shown as

Theme Of Death Be Not Proud
Death be not proud is a sonnet written by the poet John Donne (1572 1631) which was published after
he died mainly in 1633. The exact year of the poem is quite ambiguous, as none of his works were
published during his lifetime (Patricia Garland Pinka, 2010). John Donne is known as the greatest
English love poet of the Renaissance Period and often considered as the founder of the metaphysical
poets (Poet.org) for his involvement in both love and religions. For say, he is referred as someone who
affects the metaphysics, not only in his satires, but in his amorous verses, where nature only should

Serbia s Decision to Fight in 1914 and the Role in Retribution War
Serbia joined World War I that started in July 1914 when Austria Hungary attacked the kingdom of
Serbia just at the onset of the world war one. The Serbia army was severely destroyed losing over
three hundred soldiers. At the time the war ended, Serbia lost over one million citizens both civilians
and the soldiers (Fromkin 12).
On 28 July 1914, just a few weeks after the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a
Serbian citizen in Sarajevo, Austria Hungary announced war with Serbia, effectively causing the First

ordered its military generals to mobilize their men that same day and after two days, Germany and
France declared war on each other. The German s soldiers planned an assault on neutral Belgium on
August 4. This forced Britain to declare war on Germany. Consequently, in the summer of 1914, a

The Role Of PTSD In Vietnam Veterans
This is very difficult for people to get jobs and have a social life. PTSD can make somebody hard to
be with. Living with someone who is easily startled, has nightmares, and often avoids social situations
can take a toll on the most resilient family. Research shows that Vietnam Veterans have more marital
problems and family violence. Their children have more behavior problems than do those of Veterans
without PTSD. Veterans with the most severe symptoms had families with the worst communication.
This is because people who have PTSD have a hard time feeling emotions or expressing them. They
may feel detached from others. This can cause problems in personal relationships with the spouse. The

There are some aspects of the game that create an educational learning curve, but the majority is
dependent upon sheer luck .
To win the game syndicates must achieve a profit over the initial $50,000 that they are given. The
game allows for up to 20 transactions to be made per day. This amount is over excessive making
students believe that buying and selling more often is the best way to approach the game. When in
reality the less trading players make the more likely they are to win. Players are only able to invest
less than 25% of their virtual money into one company. Therefore disabling syndicates to invest all

The Impact of Systems Theory and Diffusion of Innovation...
Systems theory versus diffusion of innovation theory: How both have impacted the field of healthcare
The foundational concept of systems theory is as old as Aristotle s statement that the whole is greater
than the sum of its parts. But when the biologist Ludwig Von Bertalanffy created the concept of
general systems theory (GST), he was reacting against a powerful contemporary emphasis within his
field which stressed reductionism rather than a holistic perspective. He fathered an organismic
approach to biology as a reaction to the vitalism reductionism arguments that were rampant in his day,
which focused upon components of organisms instead and the notion that living systems were innately
different than non living systems (Provost 2011). Von Bertalanffy instead stressed that all systems
shared similar properties, regardless of their nature. First and foremost, the components of every
system from a cell to a human being, to a society of human beings must be understood in consort, not
in isolation This signified a unity of the observed universe and hence of science (Provost 2011).
Systems are open, dynamic, and capable of change because they are in constant dialogue with the rest
of the environment. An open system that imports free energy or negative entropy from the outside can
legitimately proceed toward states of increasing heterogeneity and order, whether human and living
and/or nonhuman and conceptual and social (such as a business) (Provost 2011). This

Nutritional Assessment Paper
2. Identify the categories important for a total nutritional assessment. The total assessment includes
the anthropometric data, biochemical data, clinical data and the dietary data. Firstly, the
anthropometric data consists of the height, weight, ideal body weight and body mass index. Perform a
skinfold measurement to determine fat stores. You can measure the most common site (triceps)
skinfold by utilizing a special caliper that measures in millimeters. First, locate the midpoint which is
halfway between the acromion process and the olecranon process, then pinch the skin vertically along
the axis of the humerus. Place the caliper 1 cm below your finger to measure the thickness of the fold

Identity In Elie Wiesel s Nightwood
After reading Nightwood I have been radically altered. Not in the cliché sense where one comes from
reading a book and proclaims his or her life different, but altered in the sense where I have been forced
to confront the issue of my own identity through the text itself. The idea of the human condition which
Barnes explores in the novel brings up for me more questions than answers. Do we all suffer cruelly at
the hands of this abstract notion of love? Can we reconcile, within ourselves, the notions of love,
animalism, identity and sexuality (or other cultural difference) after they are marginalized into the
realm of other? How do we step outside of an ideology produced by the hierarchical formation and
heal the wounds that we inflict on one another? For the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jeanette Winterson in her preface to Nightwood remarked The language [in Nightwood] is not about
conveying information; it is about conveying meaning. It is hard to disagree with Winterson,
especially taken in the context of Barnes not being able to communicate her feelings with people
directly; it makes sense that she would communicate her feelings indirectly via her writing. In my
attempts to explain Nightwood as a whole, that is its language, and the meaning that one can take from
such a book, I find what draws me to this piece of literature aside from its complexity and richness are
the way in which its characters, Felix Volkbein, Robin Vote, Dr. Matthew O Connor and Nora Flood
seek out one another in hopes that the one will fulfill the other s desire. For the analytical discussion
of the novel I would like to read the character Robin Vote, examine the locus of her abject, which is
that place where the meaning between Object and Subject collapses the construction of the I (read:
identity ) and allows the character to experience and occupy the space of symbolic terror as she
sleepwalks in and out of Felix and Nora s

Descriptive Essay On AAmethyst Night
AAmethyst Night It was late afternoon, a tuscan sunset Idyllwild ablaze as it neared dusk. With doors
exposing the symphony of music and chatter emanating from the common room, I stood admiring the
scene before me. Chloe, a light blonde haired girl with coral cheeks a year younger than me, peeked
her head into the room with pleading eyes which bore into my soul. Oh no this little freshman is a
little too happy, I m guessing its another boy in her jazz band. She was desperately begging me to
come with her on a walk to discuss someone at camp who she was fond of. I unenthusiastically replied
yes, forfeiting the opportunity to participate in activities with fellow campers. Struggling to move
from my comfortable place on the plushy couch, I told her I need to get my phone from my room.
Ok, hurry and get your stuff, I m going to be on the deck she laughing replied as she repressed a grin
of success. Grumbling as I grabbed my phone from my room and strolled back to the common room,
the door suddenly burst open, hitting the snowy peach walls with a resounding thud. That will leave a
mark. Before I can fully process who it might have been, out storms Chloe, with tear streaked cheeks
as well as eyes containing terror and confusion. Chasing after her, I frantically tried to think of rational
reasons for her to be in this state of distress. She was one to overreact but this seemed real. As I caught
up to where she sat down carrying a heavy heart, I knew she had experienced

A Brief Introduction to the Pinch Analysis
The economics of industrial production, limitation of global energy supply, and the realities of
environmental conservation are an enduring concern for all industries. Wherever you turn, there s
another entreaty to save energy, reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment for posterity.
Pinch analysis is a tools used to design a heat exchanger networks (HEN) that reduce the energy
usage. This paper will be about brief introduction for the pinch analysis, application of the second law
of thermodynamics in design heat exchanger network
Pinch Analysis:
Pinch technology is the technology that provides a systematic methodology for energy saving in
processes and total sites. The methodology is based upon first low and second low of ... Show more

Minimizing the total entropy produced by heat exchanger network lead to minimizing the use of high
energy quality. The entropy can define for single heat exchanger i.e. exchange heat of one hot stream
with one cold stream as
S=∼▒dS=∫▒dq/T
S=∫_(T_Hi)^(T_Ho)▒(C_H dT_H)/T_H ∫_(T_Ci)^(T_Co)▒(C_C dT_C)/T_C
〖S=C〗_C ln⁡
〖(T_Co/T_Ci 〗) C_H ln⁡
〖(T_Hi/T_Hi 〗)
Sets of heat exchanger network will have constant total entropy when they use same type and amount
of utilities. On the other hand, the entropy will vary for networks having different types and amount of
utilities. The networks entropy that is used high energy qualities is higher than the one that used low
energy qualities. The changes come from using high energy qualities, and this lead to have higher
temperature different in some heat exchangers, hence high entropy. Due to that, the total area of the
networks also will vary with the use of different utilities since total area is in related with temperature
different in heat exchanger. As the temperature different increase the area will decrease.
Furthermore, total entropy can be used as objected furcation in mathematical programing. Total
entropy can help to find total energy required with from each energy levels in small code.
Case study:
The objective of this case study is show the change of total entropy when different types of utility
used i.e. LP steam, MP steam and HP steam. The case study has three hot streams and three

Inequality In Cleveland
Robert Grandalski
Cleveland: The African American Experience
Historical Racial Discrimination and Social Inequality in Cleveland Schools
Cleveland in the 1800s was a time of integration and equality. African Americans living in the city
received excellence treatment and thrived alongside the white citizens. During the 1840s both black
and white children attended the same public schools, where they received the same quality of
education. This was unique for a city at this time and the same could not be said for many other
comparable cities in the United States. Because an integrationist lifestyle thrived in Cleveland, African
Americans were allowed to work unskilled, semi skilled, and skilled jobs with little to no resistance
from other Cleveland ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Free, southern blacks and other minority groups made their way up north in order to fill the
employment gaps left by the start of World War 1. Pamphlets and fliers were sent to the southern
states promising African Americans, many of whom still worked on the plantations of their previous
owners, well paying jobs. What many did not realize, is that, despite the opportunity and hope being
offered, Cleveland was a hotbed of racism and discrimination at this point, and would only worsen
with the arrival of uneducated and unskilled minorities. (Stapleton, 17 July 1997, para. 3 5) Many of
the arriving African American Clevelanders resided in apartments in the city that were close to their
jobs. Many, if not most, of the white Clevelanders made their way out of the city in what became
known as the start of suburbanization. Here, they owned their own homes and automobiles that
allowed them to commute to work in the city. With the increase in population, an increase in housing
was needed, and fast. Unfortunately, this was something that would not happen in time. Before they
knew it, African American Clevelanders were living in overcrowded, overrun locations of low
socioeconomic standing with seemingly nowhere to go. There were some that could who tried to
move into the suburbs, but the white residents would not allow it. Harassment of the new African
American neighbors and sometimes even violence broke out until the family was forced to leave.
Even immigrant groups who had long since shared residence with African American Clevelanders
were starting to become bitter and unwilling to allow the new southern immigrants a place to stay.
With this overcrowding and under housing situation came a decrease in property value and thus less
tax money to be dispersed. Public schools relied on property taxes for funding. Because of this, city
schools, now largely segregated, started to

Calcium Intake Lab Report
Calcium Intake Lab
Calcium is a mineral that is regulated in the blood by the thyroid. According to the Medline Plus
website (2018), Calcium is important for balancing a body s pH, contracting and relaxing muscles,
building strong bones, blood clotting, sending and receiving nerve signals, and keeping a normal
heartbeat (Medline Plus, 2018). When our diets lack in calcium, our body has to work twice as hard
and takes from calcium stores in our bones. As stated in option three, a food journal was kept to keep
track of my calcium intake for two days and compared to a USDA website. These are my findings.
The diet was not varied too much, but it was also a time right before groceries were bought so there
was some junk food binge eating. On the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edward Group (2015, para. 3 10), Calcium Orotate is the most effective form of a calcium supplement
and is great for supporting calcium levels. Other forms of calcium are calcium carbonate, calcium
citrate, oyster shell calcium, calcium gluconate, calcium lactate, calcium phosphate, and calcium
citrate malate, (Group, 2015, para 3 10). This means that there are several different kinds of calcium
supplements but they are all not created equal. Some calcium supplements are more bioavailably
effective than others. Other calcium supplements should be avoided. Calcium carbonate is not high in
bioavaility and requires the production of extra stomach acid to be absorbed. It is also one of the
cheapest and most prevalent forms of calcium supplements sold today , (Group, 2015, para. 3).
In conclusion, having an adequate intake of calcium in important for many functions of the body.
Keeping a journal of daily food intake can help a person to be aware of missing nutrients that are
important for proper functioning of the body. If a person is low on their calcium intake then eating or
drinking foods with dairy will allow a person to increase their calcium, because dairy has the best
bioavailability. However, lactose intolerant people may need to take a calcium supplement in order to
get adequate amounts of calcium.

The George Hotel s Prospects for the future
The George Hotel is a controversial project that will bring much needed rejuvenation to a lacking
lower Gibsons. The George though being battled by many will bring much needed employment
opportunities to the sunshine coast. This expansion to our waterfront will also bring with it a boost in
tourism and keep the bustling culture of lower Gibsons alive. With this project comes heavy
opposition from people all over the Sunshine Coast. Many people feel that the design of this project is
not aesthetically pleasing and will not fit in with the quaint style of our town. I would like to pose the
question what is the style of this town? Is there a style of architecture that is recognizable feature of
Gibsons or does the the differentiation of all buildings make Gibsons unique. One other problem that
has been posed is the breaking of the OCP height restrictions. The proposed height for The George is
25 metres which is approximately 8 stories, double the current OCP restrictions. People worry that if
we were to change the rules for one building would other developers run in and try slip under the rules
too. For this town to further flourish we need to think about changing some of the rules of the OCP to
allow projects that will help further our community culturally, and economically. Economically
speaking The George will provide many full and part time jobs for residents of the Sunshine Coast. A

Measures are always being taken to ensure the safety of the people which makes the society in which
Jonas lives very safe. These measures are what makes the community a safe place to live in. In the
Giver written by Lois Lowry the society that is being shown is taking safety to another level. The
leaders of this society are doing everything they can to protect the citizens. When a jet flew over the
town the leaders did not hesitate to bring everyone to shelter. All of the citizens were ordered to go to
the nearest building and stay there (Lowry 2). This is just a jet and if we saw one in the society we live
in, nothing would be done to protect the citizens because it is not a big deal. So we can already state

Summary Of Bill Clinton s First Lady
When Clinton discussed her experience as a First Lady, the expected tone would have been very
motherly, and of someone that is in the background. As was observed, it was the opposite. When
Clinton spoke of her time as First Lady while her husband Bill Clinton was in office, she spoke up on
important issues such as feminism, and did not blend into the background, as she wanted to be a leader
and inspire other women to do the same. A prime example of this is when Clinton attended the Fourth
World Conference on Women in Beijing, China and delivered a speech that changed the world and
women s rights. Clinton said during her speech at the Fourth World Conference, let it be that human
rights are women s rights are human rights, once and for all

Woodrow Wilson and the Leage of Nations
We cannot be separated in interest or divided in purpose, declared President Woodrow Wilson, We
(must) stand together until the end (Wilson 2). These powerful proclamations were voiced by Wilson
in one of his most famous addresses, the Fourteen Points on January 8, 1918. As the world was in the
midst of the Great War, violence, starvation, and the beginnings of communism plagued Europe. The
question that kept lingering in the minds of everyone affected was what was to come in the future.
President Wilson wanted to offer relief to the crumbling world. He realized that if war was to end, and
lasting peace was to work, the victors must swallow their pride and offer relief to the vanquished
(Lodge 1). In an effort to get this notion going, he outlined a plan that sought to make the world fit and
safe to live in (Lodge 1). It included everything from freedom of the seas to creating an international
organization that would help mediate any upcoming disputes between member nations. Wilson
presented his innovative formula with a confident, high moral tone to his European counterparts using
logical and ethical appeal, as well as repetition, to accentuate a thesis that carried a theme of freedom
and democracy throughout. In the long run, he could not convince his opposition entirely, however, his
work established a foundation for today s system of peaceful negotiating.
When World War I began in 1914, the majority of the United States wanted to remain isolated.

walked over to the bar to place her order for the sampler platter of shrimp, scallops and mussels in
white wine, butter, and garlic broth. The platter was served with a chunk of warm dark Scottish oat
bread with a generous portion of soft creamy butter. She decided to go with a white wine since her
seafood platter came in a wine broth. Aileana thought it s a good thing she had been getting her walks

Interpersonal Communication Is A Key Component Of Every...
As a conflict analysis and resolution major, I took this class because I wanted to learn why
interpersonal communication is such a key component of every conflict. Although conflicts are placed
into levels international, community/organization, and interpersonal all of the conflicts are ultimately
between two parties with grievances. This class has not only taught me about interpersonal theories,
but it also offered a great amount of self reflection. After reviewing all of the topics we covered, I will
reflect on the theories related to forming relationships, maintaining relationships, relational
uncertainty in my own life. My military background contributes to how I form relationships. My
survey results on Interpersonal Skills Related to Forming and Developing Relationships indicated that
I score high in both relationship initiation and negative assertion, but I struggle the most with self
disclosure (Guerrero, Andersen, Afifi, 2014, p. 107 108). Individuals who are skilled relationship
initiation excel at approaching others and making a good first impression (Guerrero, Andersen, Afifi,
2014). After going to six different schools before I graduated from high school, I would say I make
friends fairly easily. My problem with self disclosure or revealing personal information about myself
is that I often do so through negative assertion. Negative assertion is when people reveal the negative
aspects of themselves often to navigate potential problems and save negative

Essay on Voodoo Speech
What Will Be Covered
Today, I m going to be talking about the roots of voodoo and what it actually is, the two types of
voodoo, voodoo rituals and superstitions, and why voodoo is perceived as a negative or controversial
topic.
What Is Voodoo?
I m sure everyone has their own perception of voodoo inside their head. Most people think includes
black magic, evil spirits, and causing harm to others. However, voodoo is actually a complex tradition
of faiths and beliefs that combine into an overall world full of religion and magic. It is believed to
have started sometime around 1724 in Africa, Haiti specifically. Today, there are still people in parts of
the United States that believe in voodoo and practice it. Voodoo embraces the ... Show more content

New Orlean Voodoo Rituals
New Orleans voodoo rituals differ from those of Haitian voodoo because of their emphasis on voodoo
queens, gris gris, superstitions and spells. Voodoo queens were central figures to voodoo in the United
States. They looked over ceremonial meetings and ritual dance while also obtaining income by
making charms, amulets and magical powders that were guaranteed to have special healing powers.
The most legendary voodoo queen was Marie Laveau because of her special powers and ability to do
exorcisms. She quickly overthrew the other voodoo queens of New Orleans. Gris Gris is a voodoo
amulet which is believed to protect whomever wears it from evil and will provide them with good
luck. New Orleans voodoo is also known for their superstitions, however, they aren t central to the
actual faith. These superstitions are just resulted from ancient Louisana voodoo tradition and have
influenced the faith.
Why is Voodoo shown in a Negative Light?
I m sure before I talked about voodoo, you expected something totally different. I, myself, thought
voodoo was actually all about black magic and evil spirits. However, voodoo is not actually negative.
When the early Haitian slaves came over to different parts of the world, they also brought over their
faith. However, because they were black and their religion was not recognized, it was prejudged as
evil. The priests were known as witchdoctors, the Loa were thought to be evil when in reality, the

The Trail Of Tears By Andrew Jackson
The Trail of Tears was a testament to the cruelty and disrespect we showed toward the Native
Americans. This paper will show how the United States used its legislative power and brute force to
remove the Indian tribes. From the election of Andrew Jackson, and the implementation of the Indian
Removal Act. The Creeks, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole and their actions against the removal
process. Finally, how the Cherokee used the legal process to fight evacuation of their nation.
Andrew Jackson was not the first president to order the removal of Indians, but he is definitely the
most infamous. He was elected as the seventh president of the United States in 1828. Not long after
being sworn into office he began to push the issue of Indian removal. He is quoted in a book by John
Ehle as saying Build a fire under them. When it gets hot enough they ll move (Ehle 220). He is stating
that with enough harassment and persistence the natives will be moved from their land. Under Jackson
s promotion the Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830. This granted him the authority to begin
moving the Native Americans to the west of the Mississippi River. So, over the next two decades the
Native Americans were removed from their eastern lands and relocated to what is present day
Oklahoma. Those who could not be negotiated with were forcefully removed. Some even sought legal
action and won, like in 1832 the Supreme Court ruled the federal government must protect the
Cherokee nation. However,

  • 2. Zeus Essay Zeus, most likely the most renowned god of all gods, the mighty god of lightning has taken part in some of the most widely known myths of all times. Zeus has taken part in many Greek and Roman myths alike, either as Zeus or as his Roman counterpart of Jupiter. Unlike most gods in mythology though, Zeus is the main character in almost all of the myths he is mentioned in. Whether the myth is about his epic clash against the Titans, his fight against the Giants or even about his extramarital affairs, Zeus always seems to come out of these conflicts unaffected and triumphant. When examining Zeus character though, it is important to note that Zeus is a god that exhibits human characteristics throughout most of his myths. Growth is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Hera found out about Zeus dirty deeds, she convinced Semele to ask Zeus for proof of his true nature. Zeus agreed and presented himself to her in his true form, Zeus true glory however burned Semele alive. (ML 301) This myth is a prime example of Zeus human tendencies of acting like a common man as he gives in to his more primitive needs and cheats on Hera with Semele. Another example of Zeus predisposition for not having control over his more human needs is the fact that Aphrodite has power over him. Aphrodite, the very powerful goddess of love and lust, flaunts about her alleged power over Zeus. This, however, angered Zeus and led to a very stern punishment for Aphrodite. Zeus was growing tired of Aphrodite s arrogance, so he punished her by making her fall in love with a mortal named Anchises. Zeus affinity for being the main character of a myth is no different in the epic myth about his fight against Cronus and the Titans or the Titanomachy. In this larger than life battle Zeus has to overthrow his father Cronus and take his predestined place as king of the gods. In this myth however, Zeus has to grow and overcome many challenges that stand in his way to greatness. Zeus has to ask for help from his mother in order to be able to free his sibling from his father Cronus who had swallowed them whole. After Zeus frees his siblings he has to face the mighty Titans, so he asks the Cyclops and the Hecatonchires to aid him in this battle that lasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They believed that most great leaders and warriors followed a predictable behavior cycle, which often ended tragically. In Homer s epic poem, The Iliad, Achilles is a great warrior who traces the stages of the behavior cycle twice, from arete to hubris to ate and then to nemesis. Achilles is a highly skilled warrior and a great leader who becomes a narcissist and an arrogant person, which leads to selfish and childish behavior resulting in the death of his best friend. • 5. The Zoo Story by Edward Albee Essay The Zoo Story by Edward Albee In Edward Albee s play, The Zoo Story, Jerry tells Peter bizarre stories about people he has encountered that influence his shallow and lonely existence, to demonstrate Albee s view that society is unnecessarily consumed by indifference, unkindness, weakness, and emptiness. In an attempt to cause Peter to realize that his own life is filled with emptiness and shallowness, Jerry tells Peter about the lives of some of the people in his boarding house. He talks about the colored queen, the Puerto Rican family, the landlady, and the woman who cries all the time, in hopes of causing Peter to compare the meaninglessness of his life to their lives. In doing this, Jerry hopes Peter will realize that his life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albee is commenting that people need to foster their inner selves in addition to what they allow others to see on the outside. Another interesting piece of information that Jerry presents to Peter about the colored queen is that he always leaves the door open when he is plucking his eyebrows. Not only does this reinforce the fact that he is self absorbed and materialistic, but it tells something about the inside of his persona as well. The act of plucking one s eyebrows is quite painful, and the fact that he leaves his door open when committing this act of self mutilation reflects the idea that he wants society to be aware of his inner pain and strife. People are constantly looking for sympathy and for others to tell them that everything will be all right. The colored queen is no different. He wants people to be aware that he feels pain. Keeping his door open shows that he, like the rest society, is crying out for help, and wants to be noticed and cared for. While the colored queen represents the part of society that wallows in their own self pity, Albee points out through the use of other minor characters that there are other ways of avoiding pain, and dealing with that pain. The Puerto Rican family that lives in Jerry s building tries to escape pain instead of dealing with it or looking for help. Their method is avoidance. They avoid pain by constantly having fun. Jerry mentions that they entertain a lot, and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many mysteries out in the world and many people do not know the outcome of ones journey, but exploring and experiencing new things is something that one should not be afraid of. Amelia Earhart was an out going person. She was the type of person who was always curious and enjoyed the rush of an adventure. When she was younger she was a tomboy who did not really care about all of the girly stuff. This expressed her personality because she liked doing things that most people found impossible. Amelia was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane. Many people would probably be scared to do that because of the unknown as Kimberly mention in her quote. Earhart did everything with a passion as she shared her experiences and knowledge with others so that they can also enjoy it. Amelia Earhart is admirable not only because she changed history, but because she did everything with a passion, and she shared her experiences and knowledge with others so that they could also enjoy them. Amelia s childhood was full of adventure and traveling the world. Amelia Earhart was born July 24, 1897, she grew up in Atchison, Kansas. Earhart grew up with her sister Muriel, her father and mother, and her grandparents. Amelia was born in her grandparent s house. (Netzley 12 ; Netzley 13). To win the game syndicates must achieve a profit over the initial $50,000 that they are given. The game allows for up to 20 transactions to be made per day. This amount is over excessive making students believe that buying and selling more often is the best way to approach the game. When in reality the less trading players make the more likely they are to win. Players are only able to invest less than 25% of their virtual money into one company. • 20. The Impact of Systems Theory and Diffusion of Innovation... Systems theory versus diffusion of innovation theory: How both have impacted the field of healthcare The foundational concept of systems theory is as old as Aristotle s statement that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But when the biologist Ludwig Von Bertalanffy created the concept of general systems theory (GST), he was reacting against a powerful contemporary emphasis within his field which stressed reductionism rather than a holistic perspective. He fathered an organismic approach to biology as a reaction to the vitalism reductionism arguments that were rampant in his day, which focused upon components of organisms instead and the notion that living systems were innately different than non living systems (Provost 2011). Von Bertalanffy instead stressed that all systems shared similar properties, regardless of their nature. First and foremost, the components of every system from a cell to a human being, to a society of human beings must be understood in consort, not in isolation This signified a unity of the observed universe and hence of science (Provost 2011). Systems are open, dynamic, and capable of change because they are in constant dialogue with the rest of the environment. An open system that imports free energy or negative entropy from the outside can legitimately proceed toward states of increasing heterogeneity and order, whether human and living and/or nonhuman and conceptual and social (such as a business) (Provost 2011). Not in the clichĂ© sense where one comes from reading a book and proclaims his or her life different, but altered in the sense where I have been forced to confront the issue of my own identity through the text itself. The idea of the human condition which Barnes explores in the novel brings up for me more questions than answers. Do we all suffer cruelly at the hands of this abstract notion of love? Can we reconcile, within ourselves, the notions of love, animalism, identity and sexuality (or other cultural difference) after they are marginalized into the realm of other? Jeanette Winterson in her preface to Nightwood remarked The language [in Nightwood] is not about conveying information; it is about conveying meaning. It is hard to disagree with Winterson, especially taken in the context of Barnes not being able to communicate her feelings with people directly; it makes sense that she would communicate her feelings indirectly via her writing. In my attempts to explain Nightwood as a whole, that is its language, and the meaning that one can take from such a book, I find what draws me to this piece of literature aside from its complexity and richness are the way in which its characters, Felix Volkbein, Robin Vote, Dr. Matthew O Connor and Nora Flood seek out one another in hopes that the one will fulfill the other s desire. For the analytical discussion of the novel I would like to read the character Robin Vote, examine the locus of her abject, which is that place where the meaning between Object and Subject collapses the construction of the I (read: identity ) and allows the character to experience and occupy the space of symbolic terror as she sleepwalks in and out of Felix and Nora s ... With doors exposing the symphony of music and chatter emanating from the common room, I stood admiring the scene before me. Chloe, a light blonde haired girl with coral cheeks a year younger than me, peeked her head into the room with pleading eyes which bore into my soul. Oh no this little freshman is a little too happy, I m guessing its another boy in her jazz band. She was desperately begging me to come with her on a walk to discuss someone at camp who she was fond of. I unenthusiastically replied yes, forfeiting the opportunity to participate in activities with fellow campers. Struggling to move from my comfortable place on the plushy couch, I told her I need to get my phone from my room. Ok, hurry and get your stuff, I m going to be on the deck she laughing replied as she repressed a grin of success. Grumbling as I grabbed my phone from my room and strolled back to the common room, the door suddenly burst open, hitting the snowy peach walls with a resounding thud. That will leave a mark. Before I can fully process who it might have been, out storms Chloe, with tear streaked cheeks as well as eyes containing terror and confusion. The entropy can define for single heat exchanger i.e. exchange heat of one hot stream with one cold stream as S=∼▒dS=∫▒dq/T S=∫_(T_Hi)^(T_Ho)▒(C_H dT_H)/T_H ∫_(T_Ci)^(T_Co)▒(C_C dT_C)/T_C 〖S=C〗_C ln⁥ 〖(T_Co/T_Ci 〗) C_H ln⁥ 〖(T_Hi/T_Hi 〗) Sets of heat exchanger network will have constant total entropy when they use same type and amount of utilities. On the other hand, the entropy will vary for networks having different types and amount of utilities. The networks entropy that is used high energy qualities is higher than the one that used low energy qualities. The changes come from using high energy qualities, and this lead to have higher temperature different in some heat exchangers, hence high entropy. Due to that, the total area of the networks also will vary with the use of different utilities since total area is in related with temperature different in heat exchanger. African Americans living in the city received excellence treatment and thrived alongside the white citizens. What many did not realize, is that, despite the opportunity and hope being offered, Cleveland was a hotbed of racism and discrimination at this point, and would only worsen with the arrival of uneducated and unskilled minorities. (Stapleton, 17 July 1997, para. 3 5) Many of the arriving African American Clevelanders resided in apartments in the city that were close to their jobs. Many, if not most, of the white Clevelanders made their way out of the city in what became known as the start of suburbanization. Here, they owned their own homes and automobiles that allowed them to commute to work in the city. With the increase in population, an increase in housing was needed, and fast. Unfortunately, this was something that would not happen in time. Before they knew it, African American Clevelanders were living in overcrowded, overrun locations of low socioeconomic standing with seemingly nowhere to go. There were some that could who tried to move into the suburbs, but the white residents would not allow it. Harassment of the new African American neighbors and sometimes even violence broke out until the family was forced to leave. Even immigrant groups who had long since shared residence with African American Clevelanders were starting to become bitter and unwilling to allow the new southern immigrants a place to stay. With this overcrowding and under housing situation came a decrease in property value and thus less tax money to be dispersed. Public schools relied on property taxes for funding. These powerful proclamations were voiced by Wilson in one of his most famous addresses, the Fourteen Points on January 8, 1918. As the world was in the midst of the Great War, violence, starvation, and the beginnings of communism plagued Europe. The question that kept lingering in the minds of everyone affected was what was to come in the future. President Wilson wanted to offer relief to the crumbling world. He realized that if war was to end, and lasting peace was to work, the victors must swallow their pride and offer relief to the vanquished (Lodge 1). In an effort to get this notion going, he outlined a plan that sought to make the world fit and safe to live in (Lodge 1). It included everything from freedom of the seas to creating an international organization that would help mediate any upcoming disputes between member nations. Wilson presented his innovative formula with a confident, high moral tone to his European counterparts using logical and ethical appeal, as well as repetition, to accentuate a thesis that carried a theme of freedom and democracy throughout.
