Proposal Plan Part 1
Proposal Plan, Part I
Vanessa Lecoin
University of Phoenix
HRM 595 Human resources capstone
As vice president of Human Resources for VS Lecoin s Family Hospital I am responsible for 500
employees. I have a proposal that will address what type of staff VS Lecoin s Family Hospital
requires, what type of organizational behaviors we should include in the facility toward our staff,
workforce diversity, implementing diversity, employee relations, and employee retention plans. I also
want to focus on why we should not use outsourcing for this facility.
Brief background on the VS Lecoin s Family Clinic and objectives VS Lecoin s Family Hospital is

By allowing these modifications into action, we will be able to keep our employees and recruit new
ones.
Outsourcing not an option for workforce planning
Outsourcing may not be a good option for organizational workforce planning because VS Lecoin s
Family Hospital is a family and community run organization and outsourcing will not allow the
organization to maintain a warm community atmosphere. Outsourcing creates an atmosphere where
patients may interact with third party vendors during customer service calls or emergency calls with
employees more likely not from the same country, familiar or fluent with the English language, or
speak the language very clearly enough for the patients to understand (Cotriss, 2009). Socially
outsourcing creates a hardship for locals to access the position because the positions is would be
offered to vendors outside the country. Outsourcing is a conflict of interest if VS Lecoin s Family
Hospital hires outside of the community instead of hiring within the community, this would not create
a community atmosphere that goes against VS Lecoin s Family Hospital goal. Outsourcing creates an
environment which the outside sources only know scripted information regarding the organization
instead of acquiring firsthand personal knowledge regarding VS Lecoin

Placebo
The Placebo effect of medication
Do we really need industrial medicine?
In this essay I will begin by explaining the five major points of the placebo effect, such as the
understanding of placebo, the history, phenomenon, experiments and case studies. Placebos are used
in everyday life, from it being your doctor or even a commercial you ve seen on the tv. Do we really
need prescribed medication or do we just think we do?
UNDERSTANDING PLACEBO
(Goldacre, n.d.) The placebo effect is one of the most fascinating things in the whole of medicine. It s
not just about taking a pill, and your performance and your pain getting better. It s about our beliefs
and expectations. It s about the cultural meaning of a treatment . The placebo effect is one ... Show

In an experiment involving pain symptoms, a placebo is giving to control group A and the actual pain
pill is being giving to control group B. In every experiment involving placebo it uses either the single
blinded method or double blinded. In this experiment we are only using the single blinded method and
this is where only the experimenter knows which patient or control group is receiving a placebo. In
some experiments they use the double blinded method to make sure neither the patient or the control
group know that they are receiving a placebo. The reason they do the double blind method is because
when the patient asks the experimenter if she or he is receiving the placebo neither will actually

Similarities Between Gilgamesh And The Bible
Many people and religions around the world have various versions of the flood narrative; The epic of
Gilgamesh, The Bible and Greek mythology are only a few with numerous similarities and
differences. These stories can be compared by how humans were created, how the floods started, the
effects of the flood and how it helped future generations throughout the world.
Between the three flood stories, there are any similarities and differences. In all the stories humans
were created but what was different was how they were created. In The epic of Gilgamesh and The
Bible, humans were both created by God(s). On the other hand, in the Greeks flood narrative, humans
were created by Deucalion and Pyrrha throwing stones. The stories are also similar ... Show more

From the flood, Utnapishtim, Noah and Deucalion were all saved and given different things. In the
Epic of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim was saved and given immortality. In the Bible, Noah was saved,

warned by Prometheus and later given one thing to chose which happened to be man . Lastly,
comparing how the narratives eventually helped humans in later generations. Throughout all the
narratives many things happened that humans have to deal with, ups and downs. These narratives told
to future generations can help people and humans in general deal with life s ups and downs. Also helps
humans deal with their emotions, realizing they are normal and understanding more about life. In all
of the narratives the God(s) were scared, angry or annoyed with humans. Again in all the narratives it
tells their version of how humans were created which gives later generations something to believe in

The Parthenon Marbles
Located on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, the Parthenon is the most famous and most important
piece of architecture in Greece. Standing in ruins as a former temple dedicated to the Greek Goddess
of wisdom, Athena, the Parthenon has held the most important sculptures made by the Greeks. During
the 1800s, when Greece was under the control of the Ottomans, sculptures from the Parthenon were
sent to Britain by Lord Elgin for safe protection. The Parthenon Marbles have since then never been
returned to the Greeks. The sculptures, currently housed in the British Museum in London, should be
returned to their homeland because they are part of Greece s culture, they have a safe home ready for
them in the Acropolis Museum, they are not being cared for as they should, it would most likely boost
the economy, and the English did not have the right to take them in the first place.

called The Townley Venus, and has been in the British Museum collection for more than 200 years. If
people who are employed by the museum are treating statues like this one so carelessly, the Parthenon
Marbles should not be housed in the museum for protection. The argument that people of the British
Museum say is that it was their right to have the sculptures be housed in the museum and they saved
them from further damage. Lord Elgin most likely saved the sculptures from further damage in
Greece, but they are not any more safe being held in the British Museum where there are many

to the double edged sword of patriarchy and capitalist industrial farming, embodied by Larry. Ginny

treacherous undercurrents all the time. I think I m standing on solid ground, but then I discover that
there s something moving underneath it, shifting from place to place. There s always some mystery.
He doesn t say what he means. (104). From Larry, it spreads to all the other characters, like Ginny and

Pete s death is a tragic enactment of this metaphor. He was always silently angry, trying to find some

The Invention Of An Innocent Device
An innocent device that started out just a decade ago as a simple entertainment gadget, the camera
phone has evolved into one of the most widely used item into the daily lives of all the people of the
world over. It is hard to imagine our daily activities that do not involve the use of the camera on the
back of the cellphone, a far cry from what its inventors had first envisioned it was going to do.
Together with social media, the outgrowth of common people reporting events of their daily lives has
become a major source of news and information with no sign of stopping.
Today it s hardly a secret that all news sources big or small depend on this camera wielding citizen as
a major source of information. Top news outlets rely on these citizens journalists with their armature
pictures and videos in their breaking news section for any events around the world. Like their saying
goes, A picture is worth a thousand words , today these first pictures and videos have become their
bread and butter and news agency compete against each other to be the first one to air it.
It is inevitable that as camera phone devices become cheaper and wide spread, local people at the
scene of any incident pulling out their phone and take pictures and videos for whatever the reason is
only going to increase. Thus the question of whether it is safe for people taking the pictures put them
at risk and possibly put others at danger that may result in loss of life is of a serious concern. Also,

Themes Of The Revolutionary War
The American Revolutionary War was also called the American War of Independence and the
Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War was an armed conflict between Great Britain and the
thirteen Northern American colonies, who declared themselves the Independent United States of
America. France who was very eager for revenge after the defeat in the Seven Years War. The French
signed an alliance with the new nation in 1778 that proved decisive in the great victory. The conflict
gradually expanded into a world war with Britain to combat in battle with France, Spain, and the
Netherlands. Freedom and liberty were the major themes of the Revolution. So the idea of liberty was
just a central reality to the lives of most African Americans. To win freedom thousands of slaves
opposed the patriot cause and risked their lives to escape to the British army. Black soldiers were
treated better by the British, but in both armies they were often assigned to do the most dangerous
duties and they received lower payment than white soldiers. Other than doing military service slaves

Essay on Self-Analysis
Self Analysis
Before taking this course my writing styles and habits were very different. I was the typical
procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. This did not
allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for
simple grammatical errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread. My
writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing
because of them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses how to become a better writer.

my weaknesses, but there are still some that I need to work on. Overall I am becoming better at not
procrastinating as much as I used to. This class has helped me to learn to take the little steps along the
way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end. This has also made me realize
that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it will have had more time to develop,
which means that there would have been more opportunities to proofread. I think by learning many
styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing, analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to
be able to write more broadly. By knowing how to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it
will help me in the future for other classes because I will have the knowledge that I need to write these
types of papers. I still procrastinate sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve
on this as time goes along because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which
usually would be better grades.

Lethal Injections and the Involvement of Medical Personnel
Death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of a person as a punishment for a crime.
Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient Mesopotamia,
the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a common practice
in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death penalty had been
carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the Unites States
method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous methods, such as
electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due to certain drugs being
injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due to its medical nature,
medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the drugs, but is it ethical for
them to participate in the execution of people?
Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before
the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a
hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. Within the room, there is a cardiac monitor, and
other medical items. The inmate is then strapped to trolley, much like the one below: And hooked up

Healthy People 2020 Research Paper
Both Healthy Alaskans 2020 and Healthy People 2020 have similar goals: increase the number of
people who exercise everyday or weak. The starting point, the first action, is always educating the
public or school so that people will understand that exercise is something that will prevent obesity and
will greatly improve people s health, which could also affect the length of a person s lifespan. Along
the starting point, assistance from other organizations and programs are needed in order to carry out
the action. Moreover, depending on who the audience is, there will be different ways of educating
them. For example, a way to teach students would be to have presenters and more exciting activities
that will make students want to participate. Another example is to provide easy access to the public so
that more and more people will consider exercising. Small events such as sports competitions will also
entice the people. Though the goals are the same, the strategies and plans on how the goal is met ...

Explaining A Sociological Imagination
Before I begin to explain what a sociological imagination is I would like to explain when this physical
theory started and tell you that it was once called something else before that. Sociology was
discovered in the early 17th century in The Age of Enlighten Where the scholars wanted a more
scientific theory then just basing everything off of things being super natural. Sociology was once
called social physics by August Comte. Sociological imagination is when you take all your personal
beliefs and opinions on things out of the equation and truly try to understand the situation for what it
actually is and grasp that there are going to be certain scenarios that happen that are not always self
inflicting.

Characterization In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Exploring the idea that all men are born sinners, O Connor demonstrates immoral indulgences
entertained by various characters. Readers are introduced to grandmother, an elderly woman whose
consistent unscrupulous behavior exhibits her inner motives. Grandmother uses subtle, indirect
confrontation to get her way until she is faced with The Misfit, a runaway criminal who believes that
crime is a justifiable. In A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Flannery O Connor uses characterization to
display a loss of morals, imagery to portray evil in society, and symbolism to emphasize the struggle
of obtaining grace to prove how life is nihilistic without religion. Characterization is used not only to
amuse readers, but to also display an understanding of human nature, in this case a decline in values.

Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini
In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by
Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different perspective
of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content based from the
script stories. For instance, from a stage production perspective, the constructing style of the scenes,
walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on stage has specified the
background story setting while different style of composing, designing and painting of the scenery
represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during the process of theater
production.
The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world
renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Will of the Reich Party Congress
1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as pieces
of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within the art and
film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also reference as the
protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her grandniece Katherine. On

Child Left Behind Failure
The No Child Left Behind Act failed to markedly improve public education, and as NCLB is due for

students in impoverished areas. This paper will explore the absence of any attempts at integration in

The idea that socioeconomic status plays a significant role in academic success was first introduced in
a 1966 report by James Coleman, who found that an individual student s socioeconomic status is the
best predictor of academic success, and that the socioeconomic status of a student s peers also exerts a
significant influence on academic performance. Coleman reported student body characteristics
[account for] an impressive percent of variance in student achievement, and the influence appears
greatest on students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Coleman s findings, though discovered nearly
50 years ago, hold true today; a reanalysis of Coleman s data in 2010 using a more sophisticated
statistical technique found that the social class of the school matters even more to student achievement
than does the SES [socioeconomic status] of the family. Further research from 2009 has found that
black and Latino students had smaller achievement gaps with white students when they were less
likely to be stuck in high poverty school environments, while a study in 2005 found that a school s
SES had as much impact on the achievement growth of high school students in math, science, reading,
and history as a student s individual economic status. It is also worth noting other studies have found
that poor students in middle class schools achieve at higher levels than poor students in predominantly
poor schools, even when the poor schools spend more per pupil. The success of socioeconomic
integration is evident even in other nations; Finland, for example, a country with a remarkable
education success story, has the lowest degree of socioeconomic segregation of the 57 countries
participating in PISA (the Program for International Student

Summary Of Oppression By Paul Laurence Dunbar
Oppression is at the root of many of the most serious, enduring conflicts in the world. Times were
tough in America during the turn of the century. Lots of changes were occurring, and many folks had a
difficult time coming to terms with them. Black Americans in particular found themselves caught in a
culture that appeared somewhat better than it had been before and during the Civil War. But the fact of
the matter was: things just weren t so peachy. This poem is a reaction to the racial climate of the late
nineteenth century. The son of former slaves, Paul Laurence Dunbar, was born on June 27, 1872 in
Dayton, Ohio to parents who had been enslaved in Kentucky before the American Civil War. At age
33, he died of tuberculosis on February 9, 1906. He was the first African American poet to reach a
wide audience, publishing verse poems and short stories before his early death. His use of both negro
dialect and standard English helped to portray his cultural lifestyle, joys, and tribulations
distinguishing him from other writers of the late 1800s, early 1900s. In his poem, the speaker opens
the poem with the declaration that we wear masks that hide our true feelings. He goes on to emphasize
the severity of the pain and suffering that these masks try to cover up. By the end we understand that
all of the politeness and subdued emotions are just phony disguises of the painful truths that hide
behind them. With that knowledge, he try s to get his audience to understand his purpose in

empowerment in the workplace. The principles include, Trust in people; Invest in people; Recognize
accomplishments; Decentralize decision making; and View work as a cooperative effort (Cole as cited
by Manning and Curtis, 2015, p. 177). Employee empowerment retains a critical role in the success of
leaders and organizations.

The Negative Effects Of Social Media And Technology
There are numerous ways education can be acknowledged. In the earlier years, when our parents used
to attend school, they used simple tools to learn like a pencil and paper. They had to carry textbooks
and stationeries, not tablets and styluses. But, in this generation, technology has conveyed over on
how we perceive and understand education. The development of technology is escalating at a brisk
pace. Furthermore, bullying is also associated with the majority of the school in the First World
Countries, operate technology and social media to exchange information, and it s viewed as a mean to
study.
Technology has provided people, especially students the freedom to achieve various conventional
methods of learning. But, it also comes with multiple downfalls. School children are young; their
mentality lacks judgment. Children can be easily influenced and lead astray, if not supervised
accordingly. Kids get attracted toward the outside world, strangers, and today s media easily. It is
difficult for them to differentiate between right or wrong. If a particular situation happened to take
place, it could potentially lead to tragic or even deadly events. The application of social media is
drastically increasing, and so is the means to communicate. In a school like an area, the use of social
media can be deadly for a student. Teachers find digital tools helpful but 87% also say that sites like
YouTube are the most prominent distraction. Consistently, social media could act as a

Analyzing The Pros And Cons Of The Following Options
3. Provide a detailed analysis of the pros and cons of the following options
a. Monitor forms a company owned research division in India
Pros
Develop knowledge center in fast growing emerging economy. Opening a knowledge center in India
allows Monitor to gain a foothold in what is sure to be a significant economic contributor to the world
economy in the coming years. Although the economy has slowed down recently, and the on going
problems of political corruption and poor infrastructure make business in India challenging, the long
term pull of a country with over 1/7 of the world s population is sure to remain. Developing this
knowledge center gives Monitor the opportunity to continue to grow its presence in the region and

Acquire the leveraged economics of thought leadership. The unique model of thought leadership
would allow Monitor to develop research papers or models that it could resell to multiple clients. This
dynamic produces far better economics than the selling human hours model as it is more profitable on
a scaled basis. Since Monitor already has a well established base of clients with its consulting
relationship, developing intellectual property it could sell to those clients and use to build out its client
rolodex will serve to improve the notoriety of the firm. In addition to the profitability this model
provides, it gives the firm a reputation for being a thought leader in the industry and could increase
client pull if executed successfully.
Cons
Dilutes brand with possibly inferior work product. The downside to acquiring talent in an emerging
economy is that in many cases that talent may not be able to product a work product that is on par with
expectations in countries where your client base operations. While measures can be taken to improve
quality ( increasing the number of employees + hiring only the top talent ), these measures will only
serve to increase the costs of operating in this environment and undermine the primary driver for
entering the country. Further, obtaining the right mix of cost and quality will require significant
managerial oversight, which the firm may not have the bandwidth to provide.
Profitability gains may not be achieved due to

Elizabeth And Mr Darcy Relationship Essay
The Evolution of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy s Relationship When it comes to love, some people think
opposites attract. Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice tells the story of an unlikely relationship between
two people with opposite personalities. Elizabeth Bennett is free thinking and playful. Fitzwilliam
Darcy is a wealthy, snobbish, shy man. As the book begins, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth instantly dislike
one another. Mr. Darcy thinks Elizabeth s appearance and social connections are beneath him.
Elizabeth thinks Mr. Darcy is prideful, rude and snobbish. In a short time though, Mr. Darcy sees that
there is more to Elizabeth than he first noticed. Later, Elizabeth finds there is more to Mr. Darcy.

Darcy realizes that his pride is keeping he and Elizabeth apart. Mr. Darcy earns Elizabeth s love by
fixing all the wrongs he has committed to her and her family. He brings Elizabeth s sister and Mr.
Bingley back together, saying, I told him, moreover, that I believed myself mistaken in supposing, as I
had done, that your sister was indifferent to him; and as I could easily perceive that his attachment to
her was unabated, I felt no doubt of their happiness together (Chapter 58 ). Elizabeth is also grateful
when Mr. Darcy persuades Wickham to marry Lydia as shown in this quote: The vague and unsettled
suspicions which uncertainty had produced of what Mr. Darcy might have been doing to forward her
sister s match, which she had feared to encourage as an exertion of goodness too great to be probable,
and at the same time dreaded to be just, from the pain of obligation, were proved beyond their greatest
extent to be true! Elizabeth sees that Mr. Darcy is good at heart (Chapter 52). With this new
information, she accepts his second marriage

Enlightenment Of Jainism Research Paper
Students of Jainism, believe that their soul will always be reincarnated after life. However, your
reincarnation is dependent on your past lives. Furthermore, if your past life was harmonious with the
beliefs and righteousness, you will be reincarnated into a better life; consequently, if you lead a
negative life you will fall back in your reincarnation. Your soul is capable of achieving a certain
amount of good karma that will lead you to enlightenment and possibly even stop you from being
reincarnated again. This also works with negative karma; if throughout life you are rude and only care
for yourself you may end up under the world.
The path to enlightenment is a very difficult one, one s positive or negative karma is not a complete
reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of someone who accomplished what Jains are all hoping to accomplish was Mahavira. It
was foretold that Marhavira was born into a wealthy family; however let go of that path. Letting go of
his fortune, Marhavira focused on self discipline and deep meditation. He was ridiculed by the other
villagers, but did not care. Soon, he would pull out all of his hair and leave it all behind. Also, it was
said that the only thing he owned was a loincloth that he would lose. Marhavira left the city to
meditate for many years with no possessions, he let go of everything he once owned: clothes, money,
possessions, even his own hair. Mahavira no longer cared for the materials in his life, and left the city
and was able to reach enlightenment through mediation and relinquishment.
Although the path of Jainism is a difficult one, those who practice Jainism have the hope of reaching
this supreme enlightenment like Mahavira. They hope that one day, they will have enough positive
karma to allow them to surpass the ability to be reincarnated. Many practice jainism through extreme
situations. Some will only take a few steps a day due to the fact that they may accidentally step or
harm an

10 Competitive Advantage Analysis
When a company succeeds in creating more value for customers than its competitors, that company is
said to enjoy competitive advantage in an industry. A competitive advantage exists when the firm is

Tobacco And Its Effects On The United States
Tobacco is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States. According to the American
Lung Association in 2009, 20.6% of adults were current smokers. In 1970, the United States banned
television and radio advertisements of cigarettes. Across the world countries battle similar issues in
how to help prevent deaths, lower healthcare costs, and educate the population. Countries have banned
advertising, posted health causes, renamed brands, and even included informational fliers in packs of
cigarettes. In 2001, The Government of India decided to ban the advertising of cigarettes. This ban
was created to help the youth of India and hoped to reduce the amount of future smokers. The
proposal of this restriction caused debates between the government, advertising companies, and
tobacco manufacturers. The supporting and dismantling arguments for these ethical and commercial
causes of the ban have enabled the government to make their final decision. The Government of India
has created an anti tobacco plan to tackle the growing issues of tobacco, health concerns, and rising
death toll. Their first goal was to eliminate advertising as this was perceived to encourage the youth to
take up the dangerous habit. This ban posed ethical and commercial challenges for both sides of the
argument. The government has the power to pass laws to help prevent people from smoking and
protect its people. They found the ethical decision was to use this power by creating and

Examples Of Imperial Discourse In A Passage To India
On the other hand, imperial discourse hinders the development of the self image of the colonized.
Obviously, colonial discourse determines the goal of the colonized. In this connection, it may be
mentioned that after the trial Aziz tries to raise his voice against the colonizers. Though after being
acquitted of the charge of Adela he was furious with her, ultimately he could not take any effective
action except hating her. But he cannot proceed with his determination. He cannot escape the profound
influence of the world of the colonizers. In this connection Peter Morey has said: Imperial discourse
must, by necessity, be dialogical in a regime that purports to govern by consent. It constitutes a two

A House Amid The Thickets Analysis
Akinari s use of dramatic irony also deserves attention. In A House Amid the Thickets, Akinari utilizes
literary interlacing to provide the reader with information on both Miyagi s and Katsushiro s status.
For example, when Katsushiro leaves the reader learns that Miyagi writes poetry (122) and that a man
tries to seduce her, which prompts her to bolt the door and decline all visitors (123). The reader then
learns in the next few paragraphs that Katsushiro makes a great profit in Kyoto (123) and finds
himself accosted by robbers (123 124). After these moments, seven years pass and Katsushiro finally
embarks on the trek back home, where he learns all the reader learns earlier. Dramatic irony factors
into Akinari s use of interlacing because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To address a possible counterargument, yes, Manago is technically a serpent demon. But, this demon s
portrayal of a women plays an integral role in the tale. Hence, if the characters realize Manago s true
identity as a demon from the beginning, the tale ends abruptly. Contrasting from Miyagi and Tomiko,
Manago and Miyagi s ghost display agency, power, and craftiness. Beginning with Miyagi s ghost, she
represents craftiness and power: Or was it her ghost, he thought, her ghost yearning for love that came
back to meet me? It was just as I remembered her, and in excess of grief, he began to weep (129).
Here, Miyagi s ghost not only creates an artifice that deceives Katsushiro (craftiness), but she also
elicits a wave of emotion from him because her trick forces Katsushiro to come to terms with his
neglect of his wife. The power for a woman in Edo era Japan to shame a man to the point of
repentance and emotional instability truly demonstrates the influence of the supernatural to subvert
societal norms. Greater Learning claims: In her dealings with her husband, both the expression of her
countenance and style of her address should be courteous, humble, and conciliatory, never peevish and
intractable, never rude and arrogant that should be a woman s first and chiefest care (38). Miyagi s
ghost rejects this rule entirely. What humility or courtesy resonates in the ghost of a man s wife

Outsourcing creates an atmosphere where patients may interact with third party vendors during customer service calls or emergency calls with employees more likely not from the same country, familiar or fluent with the English language, or speak the language very clearly enough for the patients to understand (Cotriss, 2009). Socially outsourcing creates a hardship for locals to access the position because the positions is would be offered to vendors outside the country. Outsourcing is a conflict of interest if VS Lecoin s Family Hospital hires outside of the community instead of hiring within the community, this would not create a community atmosphere that goes against VS Lecoin s Family Hospital goal. Standing in ruins as a former temple dedicated to the Greek Goddess of wisdom, Athena, the Parthenon has held the most important sculptures made by the Greeks. During the 1800s, when Greece was under the control of the Ottomans, sculptures from the Parthenon were sent to Britain by Lord Elgin for safe protection. The Parthenon Marbles have since then never been returned to the Greeks. The sculptures, currently housed in the British Museum in London, should be returned to their homeland because they are part of Greece s culture, they have a safe home ready for them in the Acropolis Museum, they are not being cared for as they should, it would most likely boost the economy, and the English did not have the right to take them in the first place. Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient Mesopotamia, the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a common practice in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death penalty had been carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the Unites States method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous methods, such as electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due to certain drugs being injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due to its medical nature, medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the drugs, but is it ethical for them to participate in the execution of people? Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. The idea that socioeconomic status plays a significant role in academic success was first introduced in a 1966 report by James Coleman, who found that an individual student s socioeconomic status is the best predictor of academic success, and that the socioeconomic status of a student s peers also exerts a significant influence on academic performance. Coleman reported student body characteristics [account for] an impressive percent of variance in student achievement, and the influence appears greatest on students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Coleman s findings, though discovered nearly 50 years ago, hold true today; a reanalysis of Coleman s data in 2010 using a more sophisticated statistical technique found that the social class of the school matters even more to student achievement than does the SES [socioeconomic status] of the family. Further research from 2009 has found that black and Latino students had smaller achievement gaps with white students when they were less likely to be stuck in high poverty school environments, while a study in 2005 found that a school s SES had as much impact on the achievement growth of high school students in math, science, reading, and history as a student s individual economic status. It is also worth noting other studies have found that poor students in middle class schools achieve at higher levels than poor students in predominantly poor schools, even when the poor schools spend more per pupil. • 19. Summary Of Oppression By Paul Laurence Dunbar Oppression is at the root of many of the most serious, enduring conflicts in the world. Times were tough in America during the turn of the century. Lots of changes were occurring, and many folks had a difficult time coming to terms with them. Black Americans in particular found themselves caught in a culture that appeared somewhat better than it had been before and during the Civil War. But the fact of the matter was: things just weren t so peachy. This poem is a reaction to the racial climate of the late nineteenth century. The son of former slaves, Paul Laurence Dunbar, was born on June 27, 1872 in Dayton, Ohio to parents who had been enslaved in Kentucky before the American Civil War. At age 33, he died of tuberculosis on February 9, 1906. He was the first African American poet to reach a wide audience, publishing verse poems and short stories before his early death. His use of both negro dialect and standard English helped to portray his cultural lifestyle, joys, and tribulations distinguishing him from other writers of the late 1800s, early 1900s. In his poem, the speaker opens the poem with the declaration that we wear masks that hide our true feelings. He goes on to emphasize the severity of the pain and suffering that these masks try to cover up. By the end we understand that all of the politeness and subdued emotions are just phony disguises of the painful truths that hide behind them.
