Professionalism, Integrity, Honesty, And Professionalism
Introduction/Purpose/Objective Professionalism in nursing provides an important framework for the
continual development and advancement in the nursing profession. As healthcare providers, nurses are
held to high standards of practice for providing safe, effective, evidence based care to clients. As the
healthcare system continuously advances, the level of professionalism becomes crucially imperative to
nurses and other professionals. Throughout the years nursing has continuously been regarded as one of
the most trusted professions. As a result of this significant rating, it s important for nurses to maintain
integrity and honesty while upholding the core values of their respective institutions to provide safe
and effective patient centered care (Olshansky, 2011, p. 193). As healthcare professionals, nurses must
strive to incorporate humanistic qualities such as integrity, honesty and compassion into their
respective field of practice. When nurses exhibit a sense of openness and trust into their patient care,
clients can have a sense of assurance that they re in safe hands, gaining the client s trust paves the way
for the client to trust their nurse as an advocate who has their best interest. Nurses act as advocates for
their clients, and therefore, have a responsibility to voice their concerns when it comes to providing
quality care to their clients. Patient advocacy stems from the fact that they may need extra support in
order to secure their choices for

Barn Burning Foreshadowing
In the short story Barn Burning, the narrator, William Faulkner, uses many different types of
descriptions and ways to make the reader think about the whole story. He puts so many conflicts in the
story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way men put
their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols, conflict, and
motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the expensive rug he soils.
Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this eventually leads to the
destruction of the rug. Snopes intentionally messes up this rug that is very expensive, just to make a
point. The rug is a symbol of everything Snopes had pride for and his occasional opportunities. By
him messing it up he shows that anything can be taken away from you; thus, meaning all his
opportunities and pride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of conflict in this story with fire. Fire is mentioned many times in this short story, from
the burning barn or the roadside fires. Fire is used to represent the honor and the way that Snopes
believes. He uses the fire to burn a barn, which sends Confederate troops go searching for the Horse
thief. He tries to use this fire to give him just one second of fame. All he wants is to be in the
spotlights for one second and he uses fire to do that. The last example is by using motif. Faulkner uses
the motif to show how darkness can take over one person s life. For example, Snopes beats Sartoris at
the roadside camp because he was mad Sartoris was planning to reveal his guilt at the courthouse.
This shows that Snopes doesn t care about the truth, all he cares about is how his situation is. Snopes
plans on burning another barn; however, Sartoris stands up for his own morality during this whole
episode. Snopes significantly cares about the way that he looks in everyone else s eyes instead of the
truth and the

Medullary carcinoma can be accounted for fifteen percent of all breast cancer types. This type of
breast cancer occurs in women in their late forties and fifties, with cells that resemble the medulla
being the gray matter of the brain. Infutrating lobular carcinoma is a type of breast cancer that
represents five percent of all diagnosis. This type is often tested positive for estrogen and progesterone
receptors, these tumors normally respond well to hormone therapy. This type also normally appears as
thickening in the upper outer quadrant of the breast. Tubular carcinoma makes up two percent of all
breast cancer diagnosis. This type of breast cancer is typically found in women ages fifty and above.
Tubular carcinoma has an excellent ten year survival rate of ninety five percent. (www.komen.gov)
Muncinous carcinoma represents approximately one percent to two percent of all breast carcinoma.
The main differences in the features are mucus production and cells that are poorly defined. Lastly,
inflammatory breast cancer is a rare and extremely aggressive type of breast cancer that causes the
lymph vessels in the skin of the breast to become blocked. This type of breast cancer has the name

China Earthquake
Sichuan Earthquake Analysis
Introduction
The earthquake happened in May 2008 in Sichuan Area of Republic of China, and it had a Ritcher
scale of 7.9. The tragedy resulted in the death of 69,227 people, 374, 176 had fatal, and minor injuries
and more than 18,000 people went missing. The impact of the earthquake was felt so many miles
away, and it left more than 4.8 million individuals homeless. The tragedy is termed as one of the most
lethal in the history of China (Liu, 1). This natural disaster, like other big disasters, was covered
widely by the media all over the world. The news of Sichuan earthquake hit the headlines of many
newspapers globally. The domestic media was not left behind in analyzing the disaster having 24
hours reports on the events surrounding the earthquake. The America reporters made a comprehensive
coverage of the events. This is because the foreign news reporters were permitted to visit the site of
the quake (Seo et al., 17).
Although both the country s reporters made the coverage, they used different media frame to

The media usually frame the story for the public to understand all these events. Through framing, they
highlight some of the issues to capture the attention of the audience in an individual occurrence (Liu,

Gitlin media frame helps the journalist in recognition, interpretation, and dissemination of the
information. On the other hand, the audience frames are the patterns of cognition and description of
events and idea that news anchors develop in the mind of the spectators. Frame theory argues that
media frames impact the way of thinking in the audience by emphasizing on some areas of events.

Blade Runner Versus Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
Dana Langston
Blade Runner versus Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?...and the stupidity of comparing the two.
So, motherfucking Blade Runner. This piece of fucking cinematic masterpiece was supposedly
inspired by the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?)
written by author Philip K. Dick who was a literal dick I mean he was a piece of shit. Here s the thing
though: I think it s pretty fuckin stupid to compare Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric
Sheep? because they weren t intended to do the same goddamn thing. Lemme explain. Like many
great films, Blade Runner is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? written by sci
fi legend Philip K. Dick. The story follows a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the driving force for Rick Deckard in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is the
money he would be making from retiring the Androids. As he sees it, the more money he makes, the
better an animal he can buy, because apparently he s too good for an electric sheep the pompous
fucking ass. In Blade Runner, the driving force is the fact that Deckard has been forced to retire the
Androids by the police department where, as far as the viewer can tell, Deckard use to work but
eventually quit. With a vast change in society and motivation, Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream
of Electric Sheep? are stupid to compare. It is difficult for one to see the relation in the two, other than
a few basic plot points that are the same. One of these plot points is the character Roy Batty, aka the
sadistic fuckhead that gets pleasure from mankind s heartbreaking distraught caused by Buster
Friendly (who ain t that friendly, friend). In the movie, Roy Batty and the other andies are violent
criminals. They murder quite a few people who get in their way, but they never kill out of some sort of
psychopathic detachment. They murder because they are afraid of dying, because they are plagued by
the fear of the unknown. And when Deckard dangles from the roof of Sebastian s apartment, Roy
reaches out and hauls his enemy onto the roof. In short, the Batty of Blade Runner is a flawed hero
who empathized with Deckard in his last

The Atomic Bomb Of The United States
In 1939, when it was discovered that Germany had the technology to produce a weapon of mass
destruction, the United States was determined that they would not fall trap to the Nazi s reign. World
renowned scientists gathered together and by 1941, the secret project to produce an atomic bomb was
given the code name the Manhattan Project. Nobody expected this weapon to be so powerful, but this
secret weapon had a lasting impact that changed the course of history. The Manhattan Project was
ultimately responsible for the accomplishment of separating a uranium atom, which resulted in a
weapon of mass destruction known as the atomic bomb. This secret project ultimately ended the
Second World War, issued in the nuclear age, and changed the way wars were fought. Interestingly, the
initiation of the Manhattan project can be attributed to two United States immigrants. Just after World
War II had begun, Albert Einstein, who had fled Nazi Germany, and Enrico Fermi, who had fled from
Italy, had come together and decided that the president must be warned of the fact that Germany had
the power to create an atomic weapon. At first, Roosevelt did not see the importance of this project,
and only allotted $6,000 for research. However, when the war with the Axis powers grew, fear also
grew, and the budget for the Manhattan project was ultimately enlarged to $2 billion dollars.
Eventually, Roosevelt established the Advisory Committee on Uranium and the National Defense
Research Committee. At

Linkert Scale Survey
Likert survey scale was invented by Rensis Likert, who was first to apply this approach in surveys to
check attitudes. The main advantage of his method is that it requires less time to develop and is easier
to adopt than the previously used survey methods. Moreover, the Linkert s approach does not require
the use of negative wording points, which is why Linkert scale survey has been used so much.
Likert Scaling is a undimensional scaling method. As in all scaling methods, the first step is to define
what it is you are trying to measure. (Trochim, 2006)
Questionnaire items are simple statements that the subject should be evaluated based on their personal
views. Commonly used five gradations, such as:
1. Strongly disagree
2. Disagree
3. Neither agree or disagree
4. Agree
5. Totally agree.
Statements wordings that are selected depend on the objectives of the researcher, the wording of the
response may also vary, for example from frequent to never go out or always buy never buy. The
number of grades can also be different (from three to nine). Selection of questions in the survey scale
compiled into a pilot study. To do this, create an initial list of questions, which are offered to pilot
survey takers from the chosen group of representatives (team members), they will test each question
for appropriateness. Approvals must be consistent from each pilot test survey taker. Some questions
will have to be taken off from the survey before the final survey is done.

First, Elearn Portal,(2016) post the Kounin Mode theory of Jacob Kounin. He is recognized for two
studies concerning classroom management in the 1970 s. These readings emphasized how teachers
could manage students, lessons and classrooms to reduce the incidence of bad behaviour. This theorist
acknowledged definite teaching techniques that help, and hinder, classroom discipline. Bestowing to
Kounin, the method used, not the teacher s personality, is the most crucial aspect in classroom
management of student behaviour. The title of his book is Discipline and Group Management in
Classrooms which centres on preventive discipline. He says that, good classroom management
depends on operative lesson management. He also acknowledged a group of proactive teacher
behaviours that famed effective classroom managers from ineffective ones. These are; ripple effect,
wittiness, overlapping, effective transitions, momentum, smoothness and class management. (Higgins,
2014)

Visual And Design, An Art Of Thought And Communication
The understanding of all objects that are made for human use are influenced with the themes of
communication. Designs treat form not only as value itself but also in the means of pleasing and
shaping the appearance of objects for an effect that s intended for whatever. Design can be viewed as a
rhetoric, which is an art of reshaping society, changing the course of individuals and setting patterns
for new action. Technologists argue that technology is part of broader art and design, an art of thought
and communication that can move in other s wide range of beliefs by persuasion, about practice life
for the individual and groups. Rhetoricians are expert in form of intended to persuade communication.
Design is an art of thought directed to action that s practiced through persuasiveness of objects and
therefore design invades the lively expression of ideas that are competing about social life.

Some concepts involved through the issue are risk, confidentiality, environmental health, conflict of
interest, and loyalty. First, the company and peter s career will be in risk if he reported the oil spill to
the state. Second, the engineering law requires confidentiality therefore it is irrelevant that peter report
such an issue that is confidential in the company. Third, the tests were only taken 400 feet from the
surface of the groundwater, however maybe there is contamination deeper or other marine life were
affected. Four, most important concept is the conflict of interest since Peter had to either obey the
engineering law that requires confidentiality and neglect his morals or obey the state law and lose his
friendship and career. Five, Jesse trusted Peter to keep this mysterious spill between them; he should
be loyal to him since they have a trusting relationship. Additionally, Jesse noted that he cannot have a
consulting engineer who doesn t value client loyalty. On the other hand, there are some unknown facts
in the issue. According to state law all spills must be reported but what about spills that occurred years
ago? Where the effects of spill seem to have dissipated? Is there any gasoline concentration beyond
the 400 feet of gasoline? Is the marine life affected by the spill? Will the gasoline contaminate the
ground water years later? Who is responsible to

Black Panther Introduction
Culture has many different definitions. Culture could mean someone likes literature, music, food, or
art. Culture is a human tool, but the tool can be very fragile. Culture can change and it can be lost like
it is found. Examinations of cultural objects do not tell us much about the culture of the large society,
but it does show us cultural patterns within a certain culture. These objects can show us a certain piece
of someone s culture and what it means about that particular culture. A cultural object is something
that is made by human beings; it just does not come out of nowhere. I ... Show more content on

This paradigm also takes into account how an audience responds to the cultural object. The final part
of the diamond is the social world, which is the point in the diamond sees if the object fits in the social
world in which it is found (Griswald 1994). Black Panther was written in 1966. This is when we were
dealing with racism all over the country. Black Panther was the first black superhero ever created. The
lines that link these four points say something very specifically. It states that if you have a cultural
object it will always be linked to a creator, receiver, and a social world. You cannot have one without
the other.
Cultural Object
Black Panther has special abilities just like any superhero. Black Panther s knowledge is one of those
powers that let the Panther draw the knowledge, strength, and experiences from every previous Black

strength, endurance, and durability. All of these superhuman abilities come from a heart shaped herb
(CBS Interactive Inc. 2015). The herb also gives the Black Panther a healing factor that is naturally
healing at its peak. Black Panther also has superhuman speed. The Panther can run and move faster
than any normal human. Black Panther has a genius level intellect. T Challa also known as the Black

Mechanical And Transport Properties Of Cellular Solids
Abstract This work presents a novel formulation for a Voronoi type cellular material with in plane
anisotropic behaviour, showing global positive and negative Poisson s ratio effects under uniaxial
tensile loading. The effects of the cell geometry and relative density over the global stiffness,
equivalent in plane Poisson s ratios and shear modulus of the Voronoi type structure are evaluated with
a parametric analysis. Empirical formulas are identified to reproduce the mechanical trends of the
equivalent homogeneous orthotropic material representing the Voronoi type structure and its geometry
parameters. Keywords Lattice structures; Elastic behaviour; Simulation; Finite element analysis 1.
Introduction The mechanical and transport properties of cellular solids have been traditionally
modeled using periodic unit cells representative volumes. Examples of these unit cell topologies are
the hexagonal prismatic and quadrilateral centrosymmetric ones (Gibson and Ashby, 1997), Kelvin
lattices (Choi and Lakes, 1995, Zhu et al., 1997, Warren and Kraynik, 1997, Mills, 2005, Gong et al.,
2005 and Weaire, 2008). The level of disorder associated to the shape and orientation of cells
belonging to real open cell foams has been described numerically by making use of Voronoi diagrams
(Kraynik et al., 2003). Voronoi tessellations create one to one optimal (i.e., minimum distance)

Psychological Effects Of Deindividuation
The need to belong is an innate need among humanity. Whether it means joining a group of people
with the same interests, religious beliefs, or ethnicity, people tend to cling to those who relatively have
the same characteristics. This can simply be observed in a high school cafeteria, most notably
separating groups by athletic or academic interests, within these groups, each person is taking action
to be more liked by each of its members. Although a majority of groups are not extremists, the ones
that are, thrive because of social influence and the need to belong. In comparison to the social
psychological perspective of the Nazi regime, members of the Islamic State (IS) are susceptible to
group polarization due to excessive use of social media. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Nazi regime did not have computers, the social influence of propaganda was still

The Relationship Between The Kongolese And The Portuguese...
Introduction The Portuguese first made contact with the Kongolese in the 1400s sparking a long and
varied relationship between the two kingdoms. In order to better understand how this relationship
played a part in the trade, colonization, and warfare of this region of Africa, the following paper will
discuss the relationship between the Kongolese and the Portuguese up until the Battle of Mbwila, what
occurred at the Battle of Mbwila, and how this battle effectively destroyed the Kingdom of Kongo in
the latter part of the 17th century.
The Kongo Kingdom Portuguese Angola The predecessors of many Angolans moved from different
parts of Africa much sooner than the arrival of the first Portuguese in the late 1400s. By the time of the
Portuguese s landing in Africa, the Kongo Kingdom was already founded in the northwestern part of
modern day Angola. The first Portuguese to explore the Congo River had many intentions. They
planned to bring religion, to promote European ideas of civilization, to find and use resources, and
eventually to build up the slave trade. By the mid 1400s, the Kongo Kingdom was the most influential
of the states located along Africa s Atlantic coastline. The kingdom had been founded in the late 1300s
by a party of Bakongo, which is the plural for Kongolese individuals. These Bakongo had ventured
south of the Congo River into northwestern Angola. The Bakongo then defeated the local population
and built the capital city of Mbanza Kongo, which translates as

What s The Price Of A Bottle Of Water, Or A Ready Meal...
What s the price of a bottle of water, or a ready meal from the corner shop? One pound? Two ninety
nine? The real cost is probably more than you realise. That s because our addiction to plastic is
responsible for one of the worst ecological disasters of the modern age: the build up of plastic in the
world s oceans. Environmental activists have been warning of this ticking bomb for years and
governments around the world are now starting to act. But there are also things that we can all do at
home and in our lives to reduce the damage. THE FACTS The amount of plastic produced worldwide
is estimated to be around 300 million tonnes each year and between 1.5 and 4.5 per cent of that ends
up in the ocean. Were it all to wash up on shore, it would cover every foot of coastline in the world. As
a result, the ratio of plastic to plankton in the Mediterranean is thought to be about 1:2, one in three
species of marine mammals have been found entangled in litter, fish in the North Pacific ingest about
12 to 24 thousand tonnes of plastic every year, and tiny fragments of plastic have even been found in
the arctic ice shelf. Each one of these facts is shocking in its own right, and a tarnish on the human
race. MISCONCEPTIONS It is easy to imagine that you don t contribute to plastic in the ocean. All
the plastic you use goes into the bin and that is dealt with by the council, who surely don t put it in the
ocean. But the truth is that around 80 per cent of rubbish that ends up in the

done to test the social stresses on dyadic synchrony on mothers and infants as well as toddlers and pre
teens. This article extends on previous research on FFSF exposures by observing not only the social
interactions of the mother and infant from face face interactions but also by still face pictures. Also,
assessing the infant s interactive style, the mother s behavior and dyadic synchrony in observing the
responses to the two FFSF exposures 15 minutes apart. This research is relevant to the neuro field, and
how the development of an infant s brain do to social stress. Specific Findings
Design
The article was separated into 12 sub titles, (Methods, Participants, Procedure, Coding, Statistical
Analasis, Results, Stability of Infant s social stress response between FFSF exposures, Predicting
Infant s Response to the First Social Stress, Predicting Infant s Response to the Repeated Social
Stress, Discussion, Conclusion, References). The methods were only slightly modified from the
previous experiment. The mothers and infant s were exposed twice to the FFSF, 15 days apart and in
two minute episode (play, still face, reunion). The episodes were filmed by two cameras, one on the
mother and one on the infant.
Results
The original hypothesis was to be able to modify the infant s behavior and the dyadic synchrony to the
repeated FFSF exposures by shorting the time between the

Common Toad Behavior
Seismic events, if strong enough, are extremely random earthquakes felt in various parts of the Earth.
As astronomer Seth Shostak once said, We still have no way to eliminate earthquakes, wildfires,
hurricanes, floods or droughts (Seth Shostak). Humans cannot stop earthquakes but they can predict
them using modern technology, geo mapping, and by studying behaviours in animals. In this article
we examine how the Common toad (Bufo bufo) behaves before, during, and after an earthquake and
how this can help humans in understanding the early signs of an earthquake.
Before observing the Common toads behaviour, we must explain what goes on during an earthquake
to fully understand the behavioural changes these toads undergo. Through common knowledge, ...

This is why an internal process that may help toads predict earthquakes can be linked to their olfactory
senses and their epidermis. Toads are amphibians making them sensitive to changes in water
chemistry, since they breed and live a majority of their lives in damp habitats. Grant and colleagues
further study the changes in water chemistry with respect to the effect on toads. When an earthquake
occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O radicals. This makes them
extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various reactions once they reach the
surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). The
oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in damp areas gives sufficient
evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active electrolytes and toad s skins are
permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of H2O2 to the presence of an
earthquake in the near future. So the smell of hydrogen peroxide and the feeling of skin being
permeated is a cue for toads becoming aware of a future earthquake (Rachel A. Grant et al.,

Beyond Pink Cadillac
While Las Vegas glitters, Reno has its own aura. Reno got the jump on Vegas when wide open gaming

was 1989 when the National Automobile Museum opened and as Pink Cadillac hit theaters.
Pink Cadillac, starring Clint Eastwood and Bernadette Peters, is one of the best cult classics from the
1980s. Although the plot has been widely panned, the on screen romance between Eastwood and
Peters as well as the stunt work done by Eastwood himself, has attracted a core following. Of course,
the expected auto chase sequence on scenic Highway 89 was the icing on the cake, drawing attention
to Tahoe and Reno, much in the same way Bullitt and The Dead Pool showcased the harrowing streets

Stonewall Riots Research Paper
The Stonewall Riots
Obviously, the gay community will not stop to remember the major events leading to gay liberation in
the U.S. Those who witnessed the June 28, 1969 violent demonstrations by a group of gays at the
Stonewall Inn, located in the Greenwich Village near Manhattan, New York City, will forever
remember the impact of that early morning hours riots against police raid in the history of gay
liberation movement.
Greenwich Village is a known territory for sizable homosexuals; gays and lesbians. The huge numbers

Nevada s Winnings against Protesting a Lottery
Nevada s Winnings against Protesting a Lottery Introducing the option of Nevada having a lottery has
been enticing for many. Although lotteries might provide extra revenue for school, when one takes a

tourists specifically come to play the slot machines, and on average Nevada makes around 9 billion

The Pollution Of The San Joaquin Valley
The Water In The Valley. If the water is contaminated by the airborne pollutants, whether by
depositing through direct water surface contact or by depositing on land and being carried to water
bodies through run off, the residents will face problems. Once in the water, these pollutants can cause
the fish to poison people upon consumption, or the fish could die out. Harmful algal blooms could
occur; the water will become contaminated and unsafe to drink. This might seem like an exaggeration
but in the San Joaquin Valley, the threat is very real. One might say that the people of the San Joaquin
Valley may depend on water more than people elsewhere. The residents need water more because
many of them depend on having enough water for their jobs, not just for their consumption. Being one
of the top agricultural industries, the San Joaquin Valley residents need to have plenty of water for
their industry of choice, whether is be for watering their crops or keeping the cows food (grass) alive,
to ensure that they will be able to bring in profit to the valley and be able to feed themselves and their
families. One of the reasons why the San Joaquin Valley is highly susceptible to water contamination
is because of agriculture pesticides such as the nitrogen based fertilizer called nitrate. Nitrates, once
they ve entered the body, are converted to nitrites (Basic Info. About Nitrate in Drinking Water). If a

Healthcare s Application Of Petronio s Communication...
Healthcare s Application of Petronio s Communication Privacy Management Theory Communication
privacy management theory (CPM) developed by Sandra Petronio in 1991, is a theory about how
people make decisions regarding how they reveal and/or conceal their private information. CPM
functions on the premise that individuals maintain and manage privacy boundaries in their
interpersonal communications depending on the perceived weight of ones benefit and cost of
disclosure (Bridge Schrodt, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how CPM through the
use of three operational theories plays a significant role in our lives and our interpersonal
communications. At its core are three operational theories that act as guiding principles, they are
simple in nature and easily defined how ownership forms personal rules for disclosure; how we
coordinate and control disclosure and relational turbulence that occurs when individual boundary rules
are at odds (Griffin, 2009, p. 121). We will explore each theory and provide real life applications
utilizing examples of how healthcare organizations and providers use CPM in their practice. Privacy
Ownership Through the use of privacy boundaries to divide private and public information CPM
contends that when we disclose private information we depend on a rule based management system to
control the level of accessibility and privacy boundaries to govern self disclosure. As a way to manage
privacy boundaries individuals formulate their

Essay Use of Ability Grouping
Use of Ability Grouping
How widespread is ability grouping? No reliable national surveys of ability grouping in elementary
schools have been conducted, but a consistent picture emerges from several local studies. According to
the article Ability Group Effects: Instructional, Social, or Institutional?, (Pallas, 1994) ability grouping
for reading instruction appears nearly universal, especially in the early grades. Schools seek to create
teachable groups of children within classes containing a broad range of skills, from students who
independently breeze through children s novels to those who have yet to learn basic letter sounds.
Ability grouping in math is less frequent and only in the upper grades, but remains rare at the

Once students are grouped, they generally stay at that level for their school careers, and the gap
between achievement and levels becomes exaggerated over time. The notion that students
achievement levels at any given time will predict their achievement in the future becomes a self
fulfilling prophecy (Slavin, 1990). Wheelock doesn t dismiss all forms of ability grouping. For
example, a group might be set up within a class to help students who are having difficulty with a
specific skill, or a group might be formed to pre teach a skill to a group of students who might have
difficulty grasping a concept.
Advocates
Those that support ability grouping in schools argue that it is not just gifted and talented students that
benefit from this practice. Although students benefit slightly from ability grouping even when course
content is not altered, they could gain much more when the curriculum is adjusted to suit their
academic needs, according to Mary Ann Swiatek (1997). Swiatek argues, students with mathematical
talented are ready to learn statistics/probability, geometry, and pre algebra long before those topics are
introduced in school. If the advanced material is presented, gifted students will learn it, thereby
boosting their academic achievement. (Swiatek, 1997)
Standardized achievement tests show that gifted

Difference Between Locke And Hobbes
In the 18th century, the ideas of philosophers were rising in popularity as people began to question the
societal norm. In the 1600s, Hobbes and Locke shared their ideas about the natural state of man. While
Locke believed that men are born good and naturally know the difference between right and wrong,
Hobbes believed that men were naturally evil and needed a strict government in order to stay under
control. President John Adams shared his views on how he believed America should be run. When
talking about the taxation of American colonists, he shared his belief that The Parliament of Great
Britain can have no more right to tax the colonies than a Parliament of Paris. John Adam s belief can

Many of the colonists were not please with the Parliament of Great Britain imposing major taxes on

Britain of France, had the right to intervene in the taxation of the colonists of an entirely separate
nation. Adams believed that the colonies could function on their own, without help from the
Parliaments of other nations. The ideas of Locke support this, for he has very positive, good natured,
and optimistic views on man. Locke believed that man knows what is right and wrong naturally, and
that we have the ability to fix our problems and conflicts lawfully. These positive views prove that it is
not necessary to have an outside Parliament helping the colonies because the colonists are more than
capable of fixing problems on their own. They had fought for years to become self functioning and
independent, and they did not need the Parliament of Great Britain helping them. As stated by Locke,
men can solve their problems, such as economic issues, lawfully and safely without the help of
another nation. Locke s ideas could be used to support Adam s belief that the colonies did not need
assistance from another nation because they were more than capable of handling their own situations

Bipolar Disorder, formally known as Manic Depression, is a mental disorder where an individual

Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall
The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark.
The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight.
Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the
vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their relationship

too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just as the earth seems to have turned
against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special relationship Adam shared with the animal

importantly began to actively menace him, whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian
state. This is because the concept of death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting
with the lower animals. In addition to threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator
and prey. This new predatory relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship
between people, when Milton compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious

could take place . This state priority was for survival because without relentless enhancements to labor
resources, military methods, and technology, Rome would fall. In fact, Rome nearly fell, and in 31
BC, Octavian established a military dictatorship, called the Principate . The military campaigns
provided the raw material to make the military even stronger labor and new ideas and technology.
The intellect of newly conquered countries brought with them new ideas and new technology. For
example, even the one technology of glass blowing the Empire invented, no Roman ever invented it,
for it seems to have developed in present day Syria. The pace at which technology was applied in the
military quickened because the new ideas

The Effect Of Ph Solution Of Feed Phase On The Removal...
Figure. 7. Effect of pH solution of feed phase on the removal efficiency of citric acid
Transport conditions: Feed phase: citric acid 10 2 M, pH 2 12. Stripping phase: deionized water,
pH=6.8. Membrane: 12.60 cm2 of surface area, Calix[4]resorcinarene (0.15 g/g mixture of polymers),
0.03 ml 2 NPOE/g mixture of polymers. Values obtained after 5 days of experimentation.
3.8 Stability of PIMs
In this study, one PIM was reused, whereas the feed and strip phases were replaced after one cycle
with fresh ones in 5 experiments and each experiment lasted from 4 days. As observed in Fig. 8. The
initial flux of PIM shows a gradual decrease with increasing of cycle s reuse, which may be caused by
the loss of carrier from membrane [37]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion
In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal of
citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum base
polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially alkyl chain
length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the increased rate of
citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the investigated
calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction abilities depend
on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the appropriate length of alkyl
chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency for the citric acid transport by
the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the selective removal, concentration and
purification of citric acid from different media.

  • 2. Professionalism, Integrity, Honesty, And Professionalism Introduction/Purpose/Objective Professionalism in nursing provides an important framework for the continual development and advancement in the nursing profession. As healthcare providers, nurses are held to high standards of practice for providing safe, effective, evidence based care to clients. As the healthcare system continuously advances, the level of professionalism becomes crucially imperative to nurses and other professionals. Throughout the years nursing has continuously been regarded as one of the most trusted professions. As a result of this significant rating, it s important for nurses to maintain integrity and honesty while upholding the core values of their respective institutions to provide safe and effective patient centered care (Olshansky, 2011, p. 193). As healthcare professionals, nurses must strive to incorporate humanistic qualities such as integrity, honesty and compassion into their respective field of practice. When nurses exhibit a sense of openness and trust into their patient care, clients can have a sense of assurance that they re in safe hands, gaining the client s trust paves the way for the client to trust their nurse as an advocate who has their best interest. Nurses act as advocates for their clients, and therefore, have a responsibility to voice their concerns when it comes to providing quality care to their clients. • 3. Barn Burning Foreshadowing In the short story Barn Burning, the narrator, William Faulkner, uses many different types of descriptions and ways to make the reader think about the whole story. He puts so many conflicts in the story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way men put their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols, conflict, and motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the expensive rug he soils. Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this eventually leads to the destruction of the rug. Snopes intentionally messes up this rug that is very expensive, just to make a point. The rug is a symbol of everything Snopes had pride for and his occasional opportunities. By him messing it up he shows that anything can be taken away from you; thus, meaning all his opportunities and pride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of conflict in this story with fire. Fire is mentioned many times in this short story, from the burning barn or the roadside fires. Fire is used to represent the honor and the way that Snopes believes. He uses the fire to burn a barn, which sends Confederate troops go searching for the Horse thief. He tries to use this fire to give him just one second of fame. All he wants is to be in the spotlights for one second and he uses fire to do that. The last example is by using motif. Faulkner uses the motif to show how darkness can take over one person s life. For example, Snopes beats Sartoris at the roadside camp because he was mad Sartoris was planning to reveal his guilt at the courthouse. This shows that Snopes doesn t care about the truth, all he cares about is how his situation is. Snopes plans on burning another barn; however, Sartoris stands up for his own morality during this whole episode. Snopes significantly cares about the way that he looks in everyone else s eyes instead of the truth and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, motherfucking Blade Runner. This piece of fucking cinematic masterpiece was supposedly inspired by the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) written by author Philip K. Dick who was a literal dick I mean he was a piece of shit. Here s the thing though: I think it s pretty fuckin stupid to compare Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? because they weren t intended to do the same goddamn thing. Lemme explain. Like many great films, Blade Runner is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? written by sci fi legend Philip K. Dick. The story follows a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the driving force for Rick Deckard in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is the money he would be making from retiring the Androids. As he sees it, the more money he makes, the better an animal he can buy, because apparently he s too good for an electric sheep the pompous fucking ass. In Blade Runner, the driving force is the fact that Deckard has been forced to retire the Androids by the police department where, as far as the viewer can tell, Deckard use to work but eventually quit. With a vast change in society and motivation, Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? are stupid to compare. It is difficult for one to see the relation in the two, other than a few basic plot points that are the same. One of these plot points is the character Roy Batty, aka the sadistic fuckhead that gets pleasure from mankind s heartbreaking distraught caused by Buster Friendly (who ain t that friendly, friend). In the movie, Roy Batty and the other andies are violent criminals. They murder quite a few people who get in their way, but they never kill out of some sort of psychopathic detachment. They murder because they are afraid of dying, because they are plagued by the fear of the unknown. And when Deckard dangles from the roof of Sebastian s apartment, Roy reaches out and hauls his enemy onto the roof. The Atomic Bomb Of The United States In 1939, when it was discovered that Germany had the technology to produce a weapon of mass destruction, the United States was determined that they would not fall trap to the Nazi s reign. World renowned scientists gathered together and by 1941, the secret project to produce an atomic bomb was given the code name the Manhattan Project. Nobody expected this weapon to be so powerful, but this secret weapon had a lasting impact that changed the course of history. The Manhattan Project was ultimately responsible for the accomplishment of separating a uranium atom, which resulted in a weapon of mass destruction known as the atomic bomb. This secret project ultimately ended the Second World War, issued in the nuclear age, and changed the way wars were fought. Interestingly, the initiation of the Manhattan project can be attributed to two United States immigrants. Just after World War II had begun, Albert Einstein, who had fled Nazi Germany, and Enrico Fermi, who had fled from Italy, had come together and decided that the president must be warned of the fact that Germany had the power to create an atomic weapon. At first, Roosevelt did not see the importance of this project, and only allotted $6,000 for research. However, when the war with the Axis powers grew, fear also grew, and the budget for the Manhattan project was ultimately enlarged to $2 billion dollars. Eventually, Roosevelt established the Advisory Committee on Uranium and the National Defense Research Committee. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Linkert Scale Survey Likert survey scale was invented by Rensis Likert, who was first to apply this approach in surveys to check attitudes. The main advantage of his method is that it requires less time to develop and is easier to adopt than the previously used survey methods. Moreover, the Linkert s approach does not require the use of negative wording points, which is why Linkert scale survey has been used so much. Likert Scaling is a undimensional scaling method. As in all scaling methods, the first step is to define what it is you are trying to measure. (Trochim, 2006) Questionnaire items are simple statements that the subject should be evaluated based on their personal views. Commonly used five gradations, such as: 1. Strongly disagree 2. Disagree 3. Neither agree or disagree 4. Agree 5. Totally agree. Statements wordings that are selected depend on the objectives of the researcher, the wording of the response may also vary, for example from frequent to never go out or always buy never buy. The number of grades can also be different (from three to nine). Selection of questions in the survey scale compiled into a pilot study. To do this, create an initial list of questions, which are offered to pilot survey takers from the chosen group of representatives (team members), they will test each question for appropriateness. Approvals must be consistent from each pilot test survey taker. Some questions will have to be taken off from the survey before the final survey is done. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is recognized for two studies concerning classroom management in the 1970 s. These readings emphasized how teachers could manage students, lessons and classrooms to reduce the incidence of bad behaviour. This theorist acknowledged definite teaching techniques that help, and hinder, classroom discipline. Bestowing to Kounin, the method used, not the teacher s personality, is the most crucial aspect in classroom management of student behaviour. The title of his book is Discipline and Group Management in Classrooms which centres on preventive discipline. He says that, good classroom management depends on operative lesson management. He also acknowledged a group of proactive teacher behaviours that famed effective classroom managers from ineffective ones. These are; ripple effect, wittiness, overlapping, effective transitions, momentum, smoothness and class management. Designs treat form not only as value itself but also in the means of pleasing and shaping the appearance of objects for an effect that s intended for whatever. Design can be viewed as a rhetoric, which is an art of reshaping society, changing the course of individuals and setting patterns for new action. Third, the tests were only taken 400 feet from the surface of the groundwater, however maybe there is contamination deeper or other marine life were affected. Four, most important concept is the conflict of interest since Peter had to either obey the engineering law that requires confidentiality and neglect his morals or obey the state law and lose his friendship and career. Five, Jesse trusted Peter to keep this mysterious spill between them; he should be loyal to him since they have a trusting relationship. Additionally, Jesse noted that he cannot have a consulting engineer who doesn t value client loyalty. On the other hand, there are some unknown facts in the issue. According to state law all spills must be reported but what about spills that occurred years ago? Where the effects of spill seem to have dissipated? Black Panther ( Marvel Comics ) Black Panther (Marvel Comics ) February 17 2015 By, Kyle Marxen Cultural Diamond Paper Page Break Marvel Comics Black Panther Introduction Culture has many different definitions. Culture could mean someone likes literature, music, food, or art. Culture is a human tool, but the tool can be very fragile. Culture can change and it can be lost like it is found. Examinations of cultural objects do not tell us much about the culture of the large society, but it does show us cultural patterns within a certain culture. These objects can show us a certain piece of someone s culture and what it means about that particular culture. A cultural object is something that is made by human beings; it just does not come out of nowhere. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paradigm also takes into account how an audience responds to the cultural object. The final part of the diamond is the social world, which is the point in the diamond sees if the object fits in the social world in which it is found (Griswald 1994). Black Panther was written in 1966. This is when we were dealing with racism all over the country. Black Panther was the first black superhero ever created. The lines that link these four points say something very specifically. It states that if you have a cultural object it will always be linked to a creator, receiver, and a social world. You cannot have one without the other. Cultural Object Black Panther has special abilities just like any superhero. Black Panther s knowledge is one of those powers that let the Panther draw the knowledge, strength, and experiences from every previous Black Panther (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015, para 50). Black Panther also has superhuman agility, senses, strength, endurance, and durability. All of these superhuman abilities come from a heart shaped herb (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015). • 15. Mechanical And Transport Properties Of Cellular Solids Abstract This work presents a novel formulation for a Voronoi type cellular material with in plane anisotropic behaviour, showing global positive and negative Poisson s ratio effects under uniaxial tensile loading. The effects of the cell geometry and relative density over the global stiffness, equivalent in plane Poisson s ratios and shear modulus of the Voronoi type structure are evaluated with a parametric analysis. Empirical formulas are identified to reproduce the mechanical trends of the equivalent homogeneous orthotropic material representing the Voronoi type structure and its geometry parameters. Keywords Lattice structures; Elastic behaviour; Simulation; Finite element analysis 1. Introduction The mechanical and transport properties of cellular solids have been traditionally modeled using periodic unit cells representative volumes. Examples of these unit cell topologies are the hexagonal prismatic and quadrilateral centrosymmetric ones (Gibson and Ashby, 1997), Kelvin lattices (Choi and Lakes, 1995, Zhu et al., 1997, Warren and Kraynik, 1997, Mills, 2005, Gong et al., 2005 and Weaire, 2008). The level of disorder associated to the shape and orientation of cells belonging to real open cell foams has been described numerically by making use of Voronoi diagrams (Kraynik et al., 2003). Introduction The Portuguese first made contact with the Kongolese in the 1400s sparking a long and varied relationship between the two kingdoms. In order to better understand how this relationship played a part in the trade, colonization, and warfare of this region of Africa, the following paper will discuss the relationship between the Kongolese and the Portuguese up until the Battle of Mbwila, what occurred at the Battle of Mbwila, and how this battle effectively destroyed the Kingdom of Kongo in the latter part of the 17th century. The Kongo Kingdom Portuguese Angola The predecessors of many Angolans moved from different parts of Africa much sooner than the arrival of the first Portuguese in the late 1400s. By the time of the Portuguese s landing in Africa, the Kongo Kingdom was already founded in the northwestern part of modern day Angola. The first Portuguese to explore the Congo River had many intentions. They planned to bring religion, to promote European ideas of civilization, to find and use resources, and eventually to build up the slave trade. By the mid 1400s, the Kongo Kingdom was the most influential of the states located along Africa s Atlantic coastline. Environmental activists have been warning of this ticking bomb for years and governments around the world are now starting to act. But there are also things that we can all do at home and in our lives to reduce the damage. THE FACTS The amount of plastic produced worldwide is estimated to be around 300 million tonnes each year and between 1.5 and 4.5 per cent of that ends up in the ocean. Were it all to wash up on shore, it would cover every foot of coastline in the world. As a result, the ratio of plastic to plankton in the Mediterranean is thought to be about 1:2, one in three species of marine mammals have been found entangled in litter, fish in the North Pacific ingest about 12 to 24 thousand tonnes of plastic every year, and tiny fragments of plastic have even been found in the arctic ice shelf. Each one of these facts is shocking in its own right, and a tarnish on the human race. MISCONCEPTIONS It is easy to imagine that you don t contribute to plastic in the ocean. In this article we examine how the Common toad (Bufo bufo) behaves before, during, and after an earthquake and how this can help humans in understanding the early signs of an earthquake. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why an internal process that may help toads predict earthquakes can be linked to their olfactory senses and their epidermis. Toads are amphibians making them sensitive to changes in water chemistry, since they breed and live a majority of their lives in damp habitats. Grant and colleagues further study the changes in water chemistry with respect to the effect on toads. When an earthquake occurs it releases positive hole charge carriers, and are equivalent to *O radicals. This makes them extremely reactive and highly oxidizing, letting them execute various reactions once they reach the surface. One of the reactions is oxidizing H2O (water) into H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). The oxidization of H2O coupled with the fact that toads live mainly in damp areas gives sufficient evidence to the change in toad behaviour. Since H2O2 has active electrolytes and toad s skins are permeable to electrolytes, toads begin to perceive the feeling of H2O2 to the presence of an earthquake in the near future. So the smell of hydrogen peroxide and the feeling of skin being permeated is a cue for toads becoming aware of a future earthquake (Rachel A. Grant et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CPM functions on the premise that individuals maintain and manage privacy boundaries in their interpersonal communications depending on the perceived weight of ones benefit and cost of disclosure (Bridge Schrodt, 2013). The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how CPM through the use of three operational theories plays a significant role in our lives and our interpersonal communications. At its core are three operational theories that act as guiding principles, they are simple in nature and easily defined how ownership forms personal rules for disclosure; how we coordinate and control disclosure and relational turbulence that occurs when individual boundary rules are at odds (Griffin, 2009, p. 121). We will explore each theory and provide real life applications utilizing examples of how healthcare organizations and providers use CPM in their practice. Wheelock doesn t dismiss all forms of ability grouping. Swiatek argues, students with mathematical talented are ready to learn statistics/probability, geometry, and pre algebra long before those topics are introduced in school. If the advanced material is presented, gifted students will learn it, thereby boosting their academic achievement. (Swiatek, 1997) Standardized achievement tests show that gifted ... • 32. Mephastophilis Quotes Mephastophilis is a great substance to Marlowe s play. With being a servant to Lucifer, Mephastophilis enlists people willing to pledge their souls to the Devil. With Dr. Faustus, Mephastophilis convinces Faustus to pledge his soul for years worth of necromantic magic. The dynamic character he is, Mephastophilis is sympathetic towards Faustus, has the sophistication, and provides Faustus with a clear image of Hell. Mephastophilis befriends Faustus and gains his trust, this friendship gives Mephastophilis the guarantee that Faustus soul will end up in Hell. Mephastophilis manipulates Faustus s feelings towards God. In his first appearance, Mephastophilis reveals that he s forever a servant to Lucifer and must do nothing without his master s permission. • 33. Difference Between Locke And Hobbes In the 18th century, the ideas of philosophers were rising in popularity as people began to question the societal norm. In the 1600s, Hobbes and Locke shared their ideas about the natural state of man. While Locke believed that men are born good and naturally know the difference between right and wrong, Hobbes believed that men were naturally evil and needed a strict government in order to stay under control. President John Adams shared his views on how he believed America should be run. When talking about the taxation of American colonists, he shared his belief that The Parliament of Great Britain can have no more right to tax the colonies than a Parliament of Paris. John Adam s belief can be supported by the ideas of Locke. Locke s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the colonists were not please with the Parliament of Great Britain imposing major taxes on them and taking their property. For example, John Adams believed no nation, specifically Great Britain of France, had the right to intervene in the taxation of the colonists of an entirely separate nation. Adams believed that the colonies could function on their own, without help from the Parliaments of other nations. The ideas of Locke support this, for he has very positive, good natured, and optimistic views on man. Locke believed that man knows what is right and wrong naturally, and that we have the ability to fix our problems and conflicts lawfully. These positive views prove that it is not necessary to have an outside Parliament helping the colonies because the colonists are more than capable of fixing problems on their own. They had fought for years to become self functioning and independent, and they did not need the Parliament of Great Britain helping them. As stated by Locke, men can solve their problems, such as economic issues, lawfully and safely without the help of another nation. Locke s ideas could be used to support Adam s belief that the colonies did not need assistance from another nation because they were more than capable of handling their own situations in the right ... Antigone follows her beliefs in following tradition and by doing what she feels is best. Antigone does this because she knows she is doing the right thing and knows that she will be repaid in some way. PepsiCo is also a leading worldwide beverage company, but they are also the parent company of the Frito Lay and Quaker Oats Companies. This makes PepsiCo a leader in the beverage, snack and cereal industries. As consumers, we have indulged in their products for many years. My personal preference has always been Pepsi over Coke, which is why I was very interested in conducting this analysis. Regardless of the results, I will always seek out a Diet Pepsi over a Diet Coke and so will many of my physician friends at Children s Hospital who start their mornings with a Diet Pepsi. These personal preferences are what contributes to a company s profits through net sales. However, the key performance measurement tools used are not based on sales alone. Calculating liquidity, solvency, and profitability ratios on a regular basis give us a better insight on the performance and overall health of a company. • 40. Essay on Milton and the Natural World Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark. The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight. Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their relationship with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. However, as a fallen human, the reader might find the physical changes that Adam, Eve, and the world around them undergo as a result of the Fall to be very compelling. As someone who has never and can never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his infancy in Eden, Adam is presented with all the animals which instinctively subjugate themselves before him. Not only is he clearly meant by God to be superior the animals, he also seems to have some deeper knowledge of their essence, shown by how he named them as they passed and understood/Their nature: with such knowledge God endued/[His] sudden apprehension. (VIII.352 354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and Eve all they wanted, the animals too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just as the earth seems to have turned against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special relationship Adam shared with the animal kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count nance grim/Glared on him passing. (X.712 714) Animals were now not only scared of Man but more importantly began to actively menace him, whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian state. This is because the concept of death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting with the lower animals. In addition to threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator and prey. This new predatory relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship between people, when Milton compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious Wolves (XII.508) who prey on the faithful and subvert God s word. Technology in Ancient Rome and Egypt Technology application of antiquity was so advanced in some areas that only in the last several centuries has modern technology overtaken what existed several millennia ago . The massive building projects of the Giza Plateau and throughout Egypt required heavy lifting and precision surveying technology that did not exist even 100 years ago . The military equipment of ancient Rome, such as artillery machinery, was still state of the art 200 years ago . This objective was first above anything else. Without the military strength to establish and spread the empire, no other artistic, architectural, domestic, or other cultural innovation could take place . This state priority was for survival because without relentless enhancements to labor resources, military methods, and technology, Rome would fall. In fact, Rome nearly fell, and in 31 BC, Octavian established a military dictatorship, called the Principate . Membrane: 12.60 cm2 of surface area, Calix[4]resorcinarene (0.15 g/g mixture of polymers), 0.03 ml 2 NPOE/g mixture of polymers. Values obtained after 5 days of experimentation. 3.8 Stability of PIMs In this study, one PIM was reused, whereas the feed and strip phases were replaced after one cycle with fresh ones in 5 experiments and each experiment lasted from 4 days. As observed in Fig. 8. The initial flux of PIM shows a gradual decrease with increasing of cycle s reuse, which may be caused by the loss of carrier from membrane [37]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal of citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum base polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially alkyl chain length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the increased rate of citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the investigated calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction abilities depend on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the appropriate length of alkyl chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency for the citric acid transport by the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the selective removal, concentration and purification of citric acid from different media.
