Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Case Study
After their successful work with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, St. Jude Children s Hospital decided
to expand their efforts outwards and focus on another type of leukemia that attacks the lives of
children every year. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer that begins in bone marrow and quickly
multiplies and spreads to white blood cells, makes up 20% of all childhood leukemia (Pui 51). The
first AML study at St. Jude began in 1986. Before the start of this project, only one child out of every
58 children suffering from this illness survived for a time greater than five years; however, by the end
of the first study completed in 1973, the rate of remission had increased to 66%. Although St. Jude
was ecstatic that they had brought the rate of remission ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jude has continued to go beyond other hospitals in the United States when it comes to research in the
Pediatric Genome Project. Organizing the genetic base of complex diseases like pediatric cancer has
been the hardest challenge scientists have had to overcome in order to understand the molecular
background of certain disease (Hussain). In order to create a treatment with the hopes of ending
childhood cancer, St. Jude Children s Hospital recognized the importance of designing a project that
would allow them to organize the landscape of certain mutations commonly appeared in a specific
disease. In January 2010, St. Jude Children s Research Hospital collaborated with Washington
University to play an essential role in completing the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, an
international effort to identify the genetic mutations that cause the formation of cancer tumors and to
develop new treatments to target these illnesses. This three year, $65 million dollar project was
developed in order to sequence the genetic orientation of over 600 pediatric tumors and non tumor
germline samples. After the completion of this project, researchers were shocked at the success from
this project (Downing). This study concluded that variations in repetitive DNA sequences,
heterogeneity within tumor samples, and mutations affecting the regulatory regions of genes are the
focus of the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project s team after completing their complex study of the

The Problem Of Human Trafficking
Imagine being taken from the comfort of your house and family. Then envision that you are forced to
either inject or ingest as drugs to give sexual pleasure to one person while the other reaps financial
benefits. You are experiencing such atrocity at the same moment in which your loved ones are mourn
your loss. Eventually, you are unrecognizable and affected by traumatizing experiences. The effects
that you frequently feel are numb and now you are suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. This is
the reality that many endure on daily basis. It is caused by the constant practice of human trafficking.
According to the United Nations of Drugs and Crime, Human Trafficking of a Person is the
recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of
force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a
position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of
a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall
include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual
exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal
of organs . Human Trafficking is not something that is new to the world. Infact Human Trafficking has

Effectiveness Of Placebo And Treatment
Aim of literature review
Many papers have been published to purpose the effectiveness of placebo on analgesia, with various
theories supporting the case. Although the literatures are in general agreement on placebo analgesia
there is some disagreement to the mechanism of pain relief. The various theories that will be looked at
are expectation activated opioid system, condition activated specific subsystems and doctor patient
relationship. The primary focus of the paper is neurobiological effect of placebo analgesia in which it
is key to remember that the neurobiological mechanisms occur in different physiological systems in
various medical conditions and in healthy volunteers (Finniss et al, 2010).

The brain is relatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are four lobes; frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe and temporal lobe. The brains structure
is divided because different parts of the brain have control over different parts and actions of the body.
The main role of the brain is to help maintenance and function of the whole body (Bear, Connors and
paradise, 2007).
The nervous system of the body is the communication and control network it comprises of the central
nervous system (CNS), peripheral nervous system (PNS) and the autonomic nervous system
(ANS).The brain and the spinal cord comprise to form the CNS, this is the body s main control centre.
The PNS is a complex network of nerves branching across the whole body, 12 pairs of cranial nerves
originate from the brain and 31 pairs of spinal nerves originate from the spinal cord. These nerves
transmit information between the body and the brain via nerve impulses. The ANS shares nerve
structures with both the CNS and PNS, it functions automatically with no conscious awareness to
control the body s basic functions like heart rate. In the PNS there are two divisions; afferent and
efferent. The afferent division controls signals sent to the brain and the efferent division controls
message from the brain to the body. Sensory inputs travel via the afferent division to signal the brain
for processing, co ordination and interpretation. The brain makes a suitable decision to the signal sent

Neonatal Nursing
Neonatal nurses spend their career working with babies, those that are healthy and those that are not.
Working with newborns is guaranteed to have its challenges, especially for those particular nurses
who choose to work in the neonatal intensive care unit. The neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU, is
where the infants suffering from potentially fatal diseases/disorders are held. NICU nurses struggle
with life and death situations each and everyday, which is sure to be accompanied by specific
emotions such as moral distress. In the words of researcher Kain (2006), moral distress is defined as
uncomfortable, painful emotions that arise when institutional constraints prevent the nurse from
performing nursing tasks that are deemed necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurses were asked to explain what they felt their obligations were to the newborn and the
newborn s family (p. 579). According to Epstein s research, talking to the parents is one obligation
that begins a long list of many more. Nurses are forced to confront the parents of fatally ill infants and
inform them that their child is going to die. The nurse presents parents with the decision to withdraw
their child from life support and allow them to die peacefully, and sometimes the nurse is even asked
to help the parents make this life changing decision (p. 580). Once a decision is made to withdraw life
support, the nurses then have to assist the parents in timing the withdrawal. Nurses comforted parents
by assuring them that the withdrawal of life support did not need to happen right away (Epstein, 2010,
p. 581).
Just like in every other decision a person makes in life, the consequences of the decision almost
immediately follow. It is rightfully assumed that once a parent makes the decision to allow their infant
to die they would welcome support from anyone who offered. The nurses that participated in Epstein s
study shared the same opinion. Another obligation felt by the NICU nurses was being there for the
parents. Epstein (2010) explained how these nurses felt a strong obligation to stay with the parents as
their child slowly faded away. Some nurses felt the need to

Aeropostale Valuation
Executive Summary Since its inception in 1987, Aéropostale, named after the 1920s French airmail
firm, has become one of the leaders in designing, making and retailing of teen casual apparel and
accessories. Aéropostale stores are primarily located in malls, shopping plazas and large outlet centers
where they can best reach their teen clientele. The company s main competitors include other clothing
brands that cater to teens. Some of these competitors that we considered for Part I of this analysis were
Gap Inc. , Abercrombie, Forever 21, Express Inc., and American Eagle Outfitters. During our analysis
of historical and current financial performance of Aeropostale, we found out that the main triggers of

This is because the market will likely eventually become too saturated to sustain 3% growth on the
increasing stores base. Also the effects of the short run growth drivers will likely taper off after some
years. In the long run, the company may likely have to close more stores than it opens to maintain its
strong store productivity levels. (2) Given the short run period growth drivers outlined, especially the
impact of the economic recession, store productivity is expected to increase. We have assumed a
ceiling of ~$750 sq.ft; as only very high end boutique apparel stores have sustained such productivity
levels. From 2014, productivity is forecast to decrease to normal industry average levels of sales of
~$550 $600/Sq.ft. (3) Average Sq.ft/store is assumed to remain the same over the forecast period. This
assumption appears reasonable since historically the four year CAGR is 0.43%. 3 (4) The same
store revenue growth rate provided in the 10 Q for 2010 is assumed for the shortrun; as the company
has proven that it can achieve that. However, as the stores base increases in the long run, it become
harder to sustain this growth rate. Therefore we have assumed a lower long run rate; more aligned to
more mature companies in the industry. Sensitivity Analysis Upon conducting the sensitivity analysis
(see Exhibit 1), we determined the key factors driving the valuation: ï‚· Discount rate ï‚· Tax rate ï‚·

Empathy And Morality
The golden rule everyone is taught is to treat others the way you want to be treated . Today, the rules
of morality are argued to be either aided or hindered by empathy. In Empathy Can Lead to Short Sited
and Unfair Moral Bias, Author, Paul Bloom, claims it hinders morality, while citing better alternatives
to morality like compassion and reason. Author of Moral Wisdom Requires Empathy , Jamil Zaki,
disagrees claiming empathy guides morality. Imagine a child stealing another child s toy and then
seeing him cry, but moments later to get it stolen again. At first, he may feel compassion and
dominance. This child may never feel that he did wrong. However, after the same thing happened to
him, he will certainly know he has done wrong. Empathy

destination, satisfying the total demand at each destination.
The constraints include: the availability of trucks and cranes at the locations, types of trucks and
cranes needed for specific products and origin destinations, the time and cost involved with each type
of truck and crane (time and money constraint), time of arrival of trucks at destinations, which decide
the number of cranes needed for unloading, and, finally, labor and policy constraints (such as the

Essay on Eliminating Abbreviations Errors in the Medical...
How can eliminating abbreviations reduce errors?
The use of abbreviations shortens length of many words thus really help healthcare professionals in
saving time spent in writing notes. Abbreviations however do not always provide positive
contributions due to misconceptions, misunderstandings, and misinterpretations leading to
commitment of errors in the practice. Similarities in abbreviations for instance could root to a grave
mistake. For instance the q.d. which an inscriber would like to indicate as every day could be
erroneously interpreted as q.i.d. which means four times a day. Such error could result to over dosage
when a certain medication is taken four times in a day instead of just once. Though some

Policies would need to provide lists of accepted abbreviations and their standard meaning. That would
be one of the best ways of preventing creation of abbreviations or assigning different meaning on a
certain standard abbreviation. Despite of universal standard policies on the use of abbreviations,
organizations would know better the strength and flaws of using abbreviations in particular healthcare
facility. Organizational policies should therefore be also developed which would include the universal
standard policies and organizational policies believed to maintain safety practice. The policy should
clearly specify the abbreviations that can be safely used and their standard meanings in the
organizations and those that should not be used providing the common errors generated. The policy
must also indicate the forms of written paper that allows using abbreviations. The Institute for Safe
Medication Practices for instance has provided lists of abbreviations that should never be used to
communicate medical information (ISMP, 2007). Policies should also provide simple yet concise
guidelines on the use of abbreviations. The methodologies of quality control such as through periodic
audit on proper usage of abbreviations should be also specified. The persons authorized to use
abbreviations should be also clearly specified. The policy would need regular updating and should
therefore clearly specify the dates. If necessary, consequences of non obedience to the policy

Persuasive Essay About Cheating
Everyone Does It For most, it is their worst nightmare to be caught in situations of misconduct.
Starting with a simple problem an unfinished test or loneliness ,these situations entice an act of terrible
character. In most instances, the immoral choice stem from a yearning of something positive: a
passing grade, attention, a win by attaining what they want. Although it can make a heart race, this act
does not risk bodily injury (nothing similar to skydiving or roller coasters). The act is not not
revealing a crush or stumbling over words during a public speech; it is sinister, scandalous, and
selfish. Most do it, yet all fear it cheating. The last five minutes of class flew by, and with seven
unanswered questions there are only a few options: leave them blank, copy the answers of the closest
person, or guess. These choices are black and white; two choices are good while the latter is unethical.
Since cheating is trivial to most students, they go with that choice. Cheating requires less work and is
a considerably easy task to accomplish, and teachers take it seriously. In the directions before a test
these words are always mentioned, No phones, no talking, keep your eyes to yourselves. Cheating will
result in a zero. The only person you hurt is yourself. Although the last statement leaves the listener
with a feeling of unease and disdain for the cheating they have committed at any point in their life, the
statement is not always true.
The instance of cheating at school

The Arab Spring And The Middle East
The Arab Spring has largely affected the politics in the Middle East. While Tunisia is arguably the
only country that was able to find some sort of success from the uprisings, most of the other countries
were not as lucky. Being such a microcosm, the middle east has become a place for larger players to
fight for their interests through the use of proxies. A noteworthy example of this would be the civil
war that is occurring in Syria. Pro democracy protests broke out in the Southern city of Deraa after the
arrest of some teenagers who had painted a revolutionary message on school wall (Syria: The Story of
the Conflict). When security forces responded to by opening fire on demonstrators, killing many, even

Western powers believed this was the result of the Assad government, while the government blamed
rebel forces. The threat of U.S military intervention proved successful in pressuring Assad to get rid
Syria of its chemical weapon arsenals (Syria: The Story of the Conflict).
As a result of Syria s civil war, Syria has become a vacuum that has made it possible for a plethora of
rebel groups to fight and thrive. The group catching much of the world s attention recently is ISIS, a
Sunni insurgent group that has taken over territory in much of the country and in 2014 has established
itself as a caliphate in the Capital of Raqqa. They are most notable for their extreme jihadism that has
resulted in the deaths of thousands, including public beheadings and executions. While ISIS does not
back the Assad regime, they seem to have come to an agreement where they do not directly attack
each other. In fact, ISIS sells oil from the oil fields they have seized in Syria and sells it back to the
Assad regime. The Syrian government has also enjoyed the support from other Shia militia groups,
most popularly Lebanon s Shia Islamist Hezbollah party, who has been quintessential on the
battlefield against Sunni rebels (Gilsinan).
This proxy war has large world powers aiding in both the government, and the rebel s favor. Iran and

the war rages on. Tehran is believed to be spending

There s A Certain Slant Of Light And William Blake s London
Emily Dickinson s There s a certain slant of light and William Blake s London are two poems that
contain the same theme about despair, yet express that theme very differently. Both poems contain the
theme about how despair causes people to be trapped in a constant cycle of pain and loss, and that
there is no way to break this cycle. The way that the author expresses this theme is very different.
Dickinson s poem presents despair that seems to come from heaven, and with this despair her life has
no meaning. Blake s poem presents despair only through people in society, and that despair comes
from oppression and confinement. These two poems are similar in that they express the theme of how
despair corrupts all, yet they differ in how they present despair in society and provide an insight to
how each author view the world. Both There s a certain slant of light and London contain the central
theme that despair corrupts the mind, and makes people believe that their lives have no meaning.
These poems tell how outside forces oppress society, and that these forces continually beat down the
people into making them feel worthless. This feeling of worthlessness expressed through the speaker
of each poem. Each poem expresses the belief that society cannot escape this feeling of despair, and
that there is no hope for a better life. Both poems create this theme through their dark settings of
hopelessness and misery. The setting in each poem reinforces that there is no escape

Alienation In Gods And Monsters By Lana Del Rey
For many aspiring people, life tends to be a struggle for happiness. Whether old or young, rich or
poor, timid or bold, people often find themselves pressured by society to change, or else they will be
rejected. Under this overwhelming pressure that one may face at some point in his or her life, the
victim will forcibly conform to the confined margins of popular society the one that states that
everyone must be the same in both mentality and body image. In the song Gods Monsters, Lana Del
Rey emphasizes the importance of self identity through her narrative of alienation in Hollywood.
Using an eerie tune with supernatural metaphors relating her life to the evils of Hollywood, Del Rey
ultimately conveys that every life is unique and beautiful. Gods Monsters was written by Lana Del
Rey and released on her album Paradise in late 2012, just as she made her major debut into the music
industry. The alternative pop hit bears an unusually dark atmosphere and soft spooky vocals from
Lana Del Rey. The song emphasizes an early struggle of isolation that Lana faced as she was gaining
weight in the music industry. In 2014, Gods Monsters was featured in a musical scene on an episode

She is no longer blinded by the naivety that she had when she came to Hollywood. Lana repeatedly
echoes this perception throughout the song several times, singing, It s innocence lost, innocence lost
(Del Rey). She can see the world for the monsters that it comprises. However, Lana now realizes what

Sociological Imagination Analysis
According to C. Wright Mills, the sociological imagination is when an individual views his society as
the potential reason for his or her daily successes and/or failures. People often view their personal
issues as social problems and try to connect their individual experiences with the mechanisms of
society. Mills believes that this is the way for individuals to gain an understanding of their personal
predicaments. The sociological imagination helps people connect their own problems with public
problems and their history.
In order for an individual to figure out the causes of their problems, they first have to be able to
understand the causes of the problems in the society in which they are living in. The sociological
imagination tries to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A trouble occurs within an individual s relations with others. A trouble is a private matter where
personal values are felt to be threatened. Issues, on the other hand, deal with matters that go beyond
the immediate environment of an individual. Issues are public matters. Where values shared by publics
are threatened. An issue, Mills explains, often involves a crisis in institutional arrangements.
If people are suffering due to public institutions whether by design or through their failures we as a
society need to recognize the patters. Not at the individual trouble level, but as a public issue. Wright
Mills major focus was mainly focused on social inequality, the authority of elites, the declining middle
class, the relationship between individuals and society, and the importance of an historical perspective
as a key part of sociological thinking.
The empowering nature of the sociological imagination points to another fundamentally significant
aspect of the sociological perspective that society and all that happens within it is made by people.
Society is a social product, and as such, its structures, its institutions, norms, ways of life, and
problems are changeable. Just as social structures and forces act on us and shape our lives, we act on
them with our choices and actions. Throughout our daily lives and sometimes momentous ways, our
behavior both validates and reproduces society as it is, or it

Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon A Time
Stories hold numerous aspects within their words to withdraw many emotions from us. Stories,
although known for their use of entertainment, teach humans about themselves. From birth, fear
becomes one of the primal emotions in the minds of people everywhere. Throughout the entire world,
people fear much of the environment around them, but there are truly five main fears that are the
epitome of all that people fear. These five consist of mutilation, separation, loss of autonomy, ego
death, and extinction. The fear of extinction is one that most humans can relate to, and all will
eventually face for themselves, making it an anxiety for more than half of earth s population. From the
beginning of time, authors have used stories to teach people about themselves, especially aspects of
their emotions. In the short story Once Upon a Time, the author, Nadine Gordimer, uses metaphor to
explicate the terror of extinction in humans and communicate to the audience that death is inevitable.
At the story s unconventional beginning, a seemingly picture perfect family is living in what seems to
be a beautiful house in a rich suburb ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is inevitable and must not be avoided, lest an undesirable chain of events take place. With Gordimer s

effects that come about when they hide from death. Throughout history, authors have written to
educate people about themselves. Gordimer s teaching about the resistance to death clearly captures
the worldly mindset of humans and their feeling of entitlement to life. No matter how strongly a

Art In The Renaissance
During the period of the Renaissance, many prolific artists were commissioned by prominent families
and or groups to create works of art to show personal affluence and dedication to a faith or deity.
These actions, seemingly harmless, gave rise to much competition between cities, and some more so
than others. Such competition was common, especially considering the fact that Italy was not yet a
unified country and was divided up into various city states. As the city states were ruled by affluent
families, or prominent groups of people such as guilds or church leaders, rivalries often were due to
disputes between said groups. Such was the case in Florence and Siena, as their many wars against
one another sealed their opposition. To demonstrate this competition between major cities, one must
look at works of art in each respective city and how each relates to one another. To do this, one can
look at two prominent Maestá paintings commissioned in both Florence and Siena by the same artist.
To begin, artists were influenced by the city in which they were commissioned. In this, artists work
often reflects styles or themes of the cities in which they are working at certain points in time. Take
Duccio for example. His first commission for a Maestá was in Florence for a Dominican oriented
group that sought to do good deeds in the name of the Virgin Mary. Therefore it comes as no surprise
that the altarpiece for the Santa Maria Novella church would depict the Virgin Mary and the Christ
Child as the main subject matter. As Duccio was a Sienese painter and was influenced by other
Sienese painters, many aspects of Sienese artistry is evident in his paintings, but he clearly adheres to
the vertical style altarpieces with which many Florentines were commissioning around that time that
were depicting the same subject matter. In the painting, the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child sit in the
middle while various angelic beings, possessing the likenesses of different saints, hover around the
throne. The throne that the Virgin Mary sits on is not large and does not take up a lot of space, thus
allowing the few figures on the sides of the throne to float freely. In the painting, Duccio portrayed his
figures in a more natural

First of all, Lu Podesta resigns from mayor because his daughter is being accused of having an affair.

In the French Law Requires Models to Get Their Body Weight Certified , the French National
Assembly passed a bill which requires models to provide a doctor s note stating that they are healthy.
The first law was not successful because it required models BMI (body mass index) which is not an
accurate measure to determine if a model is healthy or not. The second law states that a doctor s note
is still needed, but the doctor has to take into consideration the weight, gender and body shape of the
model. If the model disobeyed the law, they would have to pay $82,000 fines as ... Show more content

Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder Research Paper
Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is part of many veteran s lives in the U.S. today. PTSD is a
serious mental and emotional disorder that people often don t understand or don t know about. It s
defined as a mental illness that develops after a person has lived through a traumatizing event, such as
sexual assault, physical abuse, threat of death, or serious injury. Most people who experience a
distressing event don t develop PTSD, but for those who do, it s extremely terrifying to go through.
Many U.S. veterans have to deal with serious emotional and mental trauma after their time of fighting
is over. There aren t any statistics that show exactly how many people and veterans in the U.S. have
PTSD, because most veterans don t know they have a mental disorder. They don t seek help; therefore
statistics aren t certain. Studies have shown that at least 70% of adults have gone through a traumatic
event, and 20% of those people develop PTSD. That s approximately 31.3 million people. Further
investigation confirms that women are more likely to develop the illness than men are; approximately
1 out of 10 women will or have had PTSD. Combat veterans are even more likely to be diagnosed
with PTSD after returning from the military, and an estimated study says that one out of every five
veterans have or will develop the disorder. The military consists of 17% women, and 71% of those
women develop PTSD from sexual assault within the ranks. These are studies and estimates

Blood Spatter Analysis
Analyzing blood spatter at crime scene is a science that has developed significantly over the last 20
years. David Camm was arrested for the murder of his wife and two children in 2000. Several blood
spatter specialist would be called to the stand to testify on the blood spatter evidence that was found in
the crime scene with varying results. Most notably, Robert Stites, a blood spatter analyst from
Portland Oregon credentials and capability would be called into question many times. Experience,
knowledge and credibility of the blood spatter analyst as well as the blood evidence found at the scene
led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who
arrived home in September 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead in their car. David Camm
had been playing basketball with family and friends in a church gym, as he did every week. He left the
church around 9:17pm, drove home, discovered the bodies and called the police in a span of 12
minutes. David s wife, Kimberly, and their children, 5 year old daughter Jill, and 7 year old son Brad
were at swim class until 7 p.m before they arrived home (Fisher, 2013). David Camm became the
police s prime suspect almost immediately. The police theorized that Camm had arrived home at 9:22,
killed his family, disposed of the gun (it has not been recovered), cleaned up the crime scene, then
called 911 (Fisher, 2013). However, upon closer examination of the crime scene, specifically the blood

The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock Essay
The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock
The Woodstock festival descended on Bethel, New York promising three days of peace and music.
Event organizers anticipated 15,000 people would attend but were overwhelmed by the 300,000
people that flooded this rural area of New York state from August 15 17, 1969. While these facts are
well known and indisputable, the festival itself has proven to be a controversial endeavor. What began
as a small business venture was soon brimming with the controversy of an entire decade. It becomes
clear when examining the strikingly different accounts of the festival that reactions varied depending
on the fundamental values and personal circumstances specific to each observer and to the ... Show

This approach gives the book a distinct atmosphere as it reads like one giant conversation, allowing
the reader to appreciate Woodstock as the undertaking of many.[3] An examination of Joel Makower s
other work reveals his qualifications to describe Woodstock s status as a business venture. He has
authored or co authored at least twenty books, many of which involve business and investing. His
other works include studies of the media and an American history sourcebook.[4]
While Makower s description of the production of Woodstock outlines an outwardly gradual process
of preparation and decisions, newspapers of the era provide the initial shock and public reaction of the
festival. Outrage felt by local citizens of Bethel is displayed in an article written by Alfonso A.
Narvaez and printed in The New York Times on August 20, 1969. The article conveys the frustration
felt by local residents as an influx of thousands caused massive traffic jams, widespread property
damage, and a shortage of basic necessities and sanitary facilities. Many local businesses were ill
prepared to provide needed goods and services to such an enormous group of people. The Bethel post
office was closed while dairy farmers were forced to dump fresh milk because neither mail trucks nor

Theories Of International Relations
International relations theory is the study of international relations (IR) from a theoretical perspective.
It attempts to provide a conceptual framework upon which international relations can be analyzed.
There are several international theories, realism, liberalism, idealism, Marxism and functionalism are
only few of the examples.
Like political scientist Stephen M. Walt who published a much cited survey of the field in, One World,
Many Theories, in 1998. I also believe that there are three dominant approaches: realism, liberalism,
and an updated form of idealism called constructivism that can explain the world order today. Walt
argued that these theories shape both public discourse and policy analysis. Realism focuses on the
shifting distribution of power among states. Liberalism highlights the rising number of democracies
and the turbulence of democratic transitions. Idealism illuminates the changing norms of sovereignty,
human rights, and international justice, as well as the increased potency of religious ideas in politics.
At realism s core is the belief that international affairs are a struggle for power among self interested
states. Clear sighted states can mitigate the causes of war by finding ways to reduce the danger they
pose to each other. Nor is realism necessarily amoral; its advocates that a ruthless pragmatism about
power can yield a more peaceful world, if not an ideal one. In recent decades, the realist approach has
been most fully articulated by

Pathology and Epidemiology of Anterior Poliomyelitis Essay
Anterior Poliomyelitis is a highly infectious disease that attacks the anterior horn of the spinal cord.
Poliomyelitis translates to grey spinal matter inflammation. Polio is caused by a picorna virus that
enters the body through mucus membranes and then multiplies in the throat and being an acidophile,
can survive well in the stomach and small intestine. When viremia occurs and persists, the virus will
penetrate the capillary wall. Once this happens, it enters the central nervous system and begins
attacking motor neurons. Polio is tissue specific and will only multiply and attack neurons. this strict
neuronotropism and definite tissue specificity of poliomyelitis virus is reflected not only in its limited

This is when viremia will occur and the virus will begin to spread. If it does not reach the central
nervous system then the patient will only have abortive poliomyelitis. They will have some flu like
symptoms and experience a full recovery. As the virus goes further, one may become stricken with
aseptic meningitis. This polio is considered non paralytic, has the same symptoms as abortive
poliomyelitis, and irritates the meninges. This causes back and neck pain and stiffness but has a full
recovery. The worst case scenario is paralytic poliomyelitis. This occurs when the virus begins
replicating in the brain stem and anterior horn causing cell destruction and neurological damage in the
form of paralysis. This is very rare and occurs in less than 2% of infections. While paralysis of the
legs is most common, it can affect the arms, or worse, spread to the trunk. When the legs are affected,
the patient is fitted with braces to help with recovery (Figure 1) If it continues and reaches bulbar
polio, the brain stem becomes paralyzed and generally the patient will die from asphyxiation. (Flynn)
Almost 15 years later the iron lung was invented to help people at this stage survive, but currently,
there was nothing they could do.

The New Business Idea Of Cindy

The new business idea of Cindy is very innovative but being an intelligent businessman Cindy should

her contracting business for installing solar panels. Cindy has not only to look for the growth
prospects of solar energy equipment which will make use of solar energy to harness and convert it into
other types of energy which can be used for daily chores work. Being a student of economics, I would

Some of the solar companies have generated good amount of revenues last year. Moreover, Federal,
state and local governments offer incredible solar tax credits and rebates to encourage homeowners to
switch to renewable energy to lower their energy usage and switch to solar power. The amount of the
rebate subsidy varies by program, but some are generous enough to cover up to 30% of your solar
power system cost. Therefore, it would be beneficial for Cindy to set up such solar installation
company. The federal government allows you to deduct 30% of your solar power system costs off
your federal taxes through an investment tax credit (ITC). If you do not expect to owe taxes this year,
you can roll over your credit to the following year. Such huge incentives and benefits from the side of
government will satisfy the social soul of Cindy as she likes to work for the society.
These incentives dramatically lower the cost of a solar power system or energy efficiency project.
These tax credits and rebates often make solar power less expensive than power from the utility
company. We will start from the overview of the U.S economy, the current GDP volume and the
contribution by each sector. The inflation rate and the unemployment rate would also have great
impact on the growth and the operations of the business in U.S. With crude oil prices

How Did Lenin s Use Of Power
Despite having other methods of control such as: Lenin s power and the soviet constitution, the
Bolshevik leadership s main method of control was terror. Although this was the main method of
control the Bolshevik leadership only had a certain degree of control over the party that was not great
between 1917, when the party seized power to 1924, when the soviet constitution was established.
Bolshevik use of terror enabelled the leadership to reinforce their hold over the party. This was due to
Cheka; Lenin s secret police who were formed in 1917. Their role was to deal with counter revolution,
sabotage and speculation. This was important to avoid opposition in the party; increasing the strength
of leadership. To create a wider use of terror in 1922 Cheka was replaced with the OGPU, which made
arrests and tourtière more bureaucratic and discreet. Under Lenin s control one third of the party was
purged, this would make the use of terror a main method for ridding the leadership of opposition and
losing support. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The constitution strengthened the control of the Party over outlying regions of the old Russian Empire.
This would ve been important for part leadership as by increasing the regions under soviet control
they would increase support for the government. The extending of the part to the other regions
tightened authority in the Soviet state. To extend the Soviet Union the Red Army was sent into the
regions. This shows a further use of terror by the Bolshevik leadership. The constitution did mean that
party bodies were strictly under control of the central Party structure. Resulting in the constitution

Frankenstein Novel Analysis Essay
Myrjun Angeles Ms. Ammendolia EWC4UI 10/13/17 Frankenstein Novel Analysis Frankenstein is
partly an epistolary novel. In what way do the letters at the beginning of the text help frame the story
that follows? The series of letters at the beginning of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley are from Robert
Walton, and were sent to his sister, Margaret Saville. In each letter, Walton tells his sister of updates
while he s on one of many sea trips and to coincide with that, readers of the novel get a glimpse of the
personal turmoil he is facing. On his trip, Walton meets a stranger who he thinks can be the one to

So that s why when he encountered the stranger, he immediately found a sense of comfort in confiding
in him because he finally satisfied his need for companionship. In Frankenstein s situation, he too was
seeking a friend because he shared Walton s desire for companionship. The parallel storylines between
a human and a monster make it evident that the two beings, though physically different, may not be as
contrasting as initially thought. Frankenstein is a story within a story. What effect does this technique
have upon the narrative? The story within a story technique can also be called frame story/narrative. In
Frankenstein, this technique helps introduce different characters as well as their perspectives. Through
the letters written by Robert Walton to Margaret Saville, readers learn about Victor Frankenstein and
his creation s story. If one thinks about it, this novel actually has many layers, and can be referred to as
a story within a story that s within another story. The reason being is in Walton s letters, we learn of
Victor Frankenstein and his adversity when he created the monster, which is the last narrative the
readers experience. To restate, this technique brings together the individual stories of Walton, Victor
and Frankenstein in many ways that overall become clearer in the initial letters Mary Shelley uses in
the beginning of the novel. Explain the purposes of each of the following characters in the story. Why
does Shelley need them? How are they

important, but I have a feeling that it is going to play a big part in the story. Something else I noticed
after reading Chapter three was that Alex had more than one problem. I didn t really understand his

How effective was opposition to the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945?
Hitler s dictatorship of Germany reformed it into a totalisation state, which meant that the Nazi party
were the only party that held political importance and therefore other opposing parties were banned.
Opposition consisted of Germany s general public, Churches and religious followings, such as
Christian and Protestant, and anti Nazi groups. The control the Nazi party had in Germany made it
difficult for any opposition to be able to have an effect on the Nazi regime safely. That was because

Some studies have shown that glucosamine is as effective as nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs

Evaluation Of An Extraverted Feeler With Sensing Strengths
After taking the MBTI assessment, I learned that I am ESFJ, other wise known as an extraverted feeler

things. Sensing tends to focus on the present and concrete information. Feeling tends to be based
primarily on values and on subjective evaluation of person centered concerns. Finally, judging tend to
like a planned and organized approach to like and prefer to have things settled. My dominant strength
is feeling and being able to help other people. With feeling being my biggest strength, we are best
when responsible for winning peoples cooperation with personal caring and practical help. By reading
on ESFJ, I found out that I am sociable, orderly, opinioned, conscientious and realistic. All of these
definitions fit my personality perfectly and really define who I am. An ESFJ has many amazing
qualities and one of them is the ability to radiate sympathy. They tend to concern themselves with the
people around them and value harmonious people. Being harmonious is really big for an ESFJ
because they find value in other peoples opinions and feel everyone needs to be heard. They want to
live in a harmonious life so avoid conflict. The strengths ESFJ s have could go on forever, but a huge
strength is compassion. Their compassion and awareness of physical conditions often attracts them to

Dendrite Vs Neuron
In our human brains, there are about one billion nerve cells, called neurons. They transport
information from one part of the brain to the other part of the brain. Which mean neurons are passing
signals to other neurons. Because of this system, we are able to have thoughts, memories and moods.
Neurons have numerous branches, called dendrite. There are branching like fibers helps to receive
information and pass it to other cells. Then on to the axon. Comparing to dendrite, axon is a lot longer
and it takes the information away from the cell body. Each neuron has only one axon but like dendrite,

Dopamine plays the role of moods, motivation, learning, and movement. Malfunctions of this

One way Jackson shows her dislike of the lottery and its outcome is the tone she uses. The tone that
she uses is a negative tone. Irrationality is a key component outlining Jackson negative tone of
tradition that plays a major role in people s actions. An example is when the women came shortly after
[the] menfolk (Jackson 2). That shows the key component of irrationality since that statement is
referring to the status of men being superior to women by the women going to the traditional event of
the lottery, right after the men. Furthermore, that statement shows dislike towards the lottery

Intelligent Transmission And Distribution Of Smart Grid...
Intelligent Transmission Distribution System in Smart Grid Technology
Hrishikesh Ganesh Divekar
New Jersey Institute of Technology
Abstract: Smart grid technology is the combination of existing electrical architecture i.e power
generation, switchgear, power systems and digital technologies which provides smart, efficient,
reliable and cost effective ways to distribute electricity. It makes optimal use of power by monitoring,
analysis, control, and provides flexible distribution to maximize the throughput of the electrical
system.
The research paper explores the delivery and distribution of power using smart grid technology. As
delivery is the important aspect after generation, for efficient transmission of power substation
automation, outage restoration and power system analysis plays important role. The paper focuses on
distributive approach and its effective ways which will reduce the power leakage, which generally
takes place during transmission. It also explains working of various industrial and commercial
applications which uses smart grid technology i.e electrical appliances, vehicles running using
renewable source.
I.INTRODUCTION
A smart grid refers to a modernized electricity network that monitors, protects, and optimizes the
operation of its interconnected elements .The electrical sector is set to make the changes from a
centralized, producer controlled network to one that is less centralized and more consumer based. The
transformation to a smarter grid

Hypothesis:
Chapter 1: Introduction Each year a great amount of money are being wasted in smoking. Although it
is quite obvious that smoking habit is dangerous and injurious to health but still a larger number of
people especially teenagers attracting and getting involved in smoking habit day by day. Some reasons
of this addiction are obvious such as influence of friends or community member as teenage is an
enjoyable period of life span which offers all delights, it can be positive or negative as well. Some teen
do experimental smoking just for taste in friends gathering but this experience enters in their life as a
regular experiment. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nicotine brings up a level of good feelings. Cigarette smokers are aware when nicotine levels and
good feelings begin to decrease and light up quickly enough to stay in their personal comfort zone.
However, they may not realize that avoiding their feelings is not the same as taking positive steps to
create a life of greater potential and meaning.
Foreign Studies

Smoking is an addiction that can lead to very serious health threats, including lung disease, cancer and
stroke. The Campaign for Tobacco Free Children reports startling statistics regarding teen smoking:
Every year more than 300,000 kids under the age of 18 start smoking. Approximately 30 percent of
these new adolescent smokers will die from smoking related causes. Understanding the influences that
cause teens to smoke may help parents find a way to approach their teens so that they won t want to
begin the habit.
Peer Pressure
As a part of teens everyday lives, peer pressure can be a strong influence when it comes to smoking
that first cigarette. MayoClinic.com advises parents to expect that your child will be exposed to
friends who smoke and who encourage your child to join in. Initiating a conversation about how to
deal with the pressure to use tobacco products, alcohol or engage in other risky behavior can prepare
your child for situations in which you d like him to say no. An interesting fact regarding peer pressure
and smoking is related by the

Becoming A Neurosurgeon
Ever thought about people that do surgery on others brains. These people are called neurosurgeons,
they save people s lives, my goal is to be just like them. Then have you ever heard of the University of
California, San Francisco s medical school, their school is top ranked for neurosurgery. Which means
if I go to the University of California, San Francisco for neurology, I could become an amazing
neurosurgeon, pursue my goal, and learn more than I ever had. Now becoming a Neurosurgeon, wasn t
always my goal, but it has been influenced by some characteristics and personal experiences. For
instance I could save people s lives, and improve their daily average life majorly. Now this reason
didn t just come normally to me, when I was much younger I remember witnessing my grandpa, and
aunts funeral for losing to Brain Cancer, by massive tumors. Having ... Show more content on

To start off its very difficult to make a neurosurgeon become successful because of all the years of
school you have to go through. Like you have to go through about 6 7 years, not counting finding an
actual job, to become a surgeon of any kind. Not to forget that you are having to have lots of
responsibility. Having responsibility is something that you need life long, but in neurology is where
you need it most. Just think about it, you are responsible for their brain, for their life, for their relatives
if something happens, thats a lot to take in which could really hurt your medical career if not taken
into consideration. But also the fact about being committed to the job. In a way, you need to be
married to the job. Not actually, but commitment is one of the biggest reasons why everyone can not
be successful, you can t just give up under pressure. Which most people tend to do. With all of these
risks to not become successful, I think that neurosurgery still is the best pick for

Computers And The Field Of Computer Engineering
Electrical engineering is a wide field of study and the field of computer engineering is very intriguing.
Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100 years which is
a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and finding
advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always something new that
s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent advancements in what could
shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a new age of computing. That great
leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two years theirs been a lot of new and
exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first came up with the idea was Feynman
a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers. That they just couldn t handle the
amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with the first concepts of a quantum
computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward that can be attributed to a few
factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like google, Intel and IBM have started
to or have increased their resources and manpower on making quantum computing a reality. In 2014
John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara were working to make
qubit gates more reliable and controllable. During their research and experimentation, they got a

  • 2. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Case Study After their successful work with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, St. Jude Children s Hospital decided to expand their efforts outwards and focus on another type of leukemia that attacks the lives of children every year. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer that begins in bone marrow and quickly multiplies and spreads to white blood cells, makes up 20% of all childhood leukemia (Pui 51). The first AML study at St. Jude began in 1986. Before the start of this project, only one child out of every 58 children suffering from this illness survived for a time greater than five years; however, by the end of the first study completed in 1973, the rate of remission had increased to 66%. Organizing the genetic base of complex diseases like pediatric cancer has been the hardest challenge scientists have had to overcome in order to understand the molecular background of certain disease (Hussain). In order to create a treatment with the hopes of ending childhood cancer, St. Jude Children s Hospital recognized the importance of designing a project that would allow them to organize the landscape of certain mutations commonly appeared in a specific disease. In January 2010, St. Jude Children s Research Hospital collaborated with Washington University to play an essential role in completing the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, an international effort to identify the genetic mutations that cause the formation of cancer tumors and to develop new treatments to target these illnesses. This three year, $65 million dollar project was developed in order to sequence the genetic orientation of over 600 pediatric tumors and non tumor germline samples. After the completion of this project, researchers were shocked at the success from this project (Downing). This study concluded that variations in repetitive DNA sequences, heterogeneity within tumor samples, and mutations affecting the regulatory regions of genes are the focus of the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project s team after completing their complex study of the genome ... The nurse presents parents with the decision to withdraw their child from life support and allow them to die peacefully, and sometimes the nurse is even asked to help the parents make this life changing decision (p. 580). Once a decision is made to withdraw life support, the nurses then have to assist the parents in timing the withdrawal. Nurses comforted parents by assuring them that the withdrawal of life support did not need to happen right away (Epstein, 2010, p. 581). Just like in every other decision a person makes in life, the consequences of the decision almost immediately follow. It is rightfully assumed that once a parent makes the decision to allow their infant to die they would welcome support from anyone who offered. Also the effects of the short run growth drivers will likely taper off after some years. (2) Given the short run period growth drivers outlined, especially the impact of the economic recession, store productivity is expected to increase. We have assumed a ceiling of ~$750 sq.ft; as only very high end boutique apparel stores have sustained such productivity levels. From 2014, productivity is forecast to decrease to normal industry average levels of sales of ~$550 $600/Sq.ft. (3) Average Sq.ft/store is assumed to remain the same over the forecast period. This assumption appears reasonable since historically the four year CAGR is 0.43%. 3 (4) The same store revenue growth rate provided in the 10 Q for 2010 is assumed for the shortrun; as the company has proven that it can achieve that. However, as the stores base increases in the long run, it become harder to sustain this growth rate. Mills believes that this is the way for individuals to gain an understanding of their personal predicaments. If people are suffering due to public institutions whether by design or through their failures we as a society need to recognize the patters. Not at the individual trouble level, but as a public issue. Wright Mills major focus was mainly focused on social inequality, the authority of elites, the declining middle class, the relationship between individuals and society, and the importance of an historical perspective as a key part of sociological thinking. These five consist of mutilation, separation, loss of autonomy, ego death, and extinction. The fear of extinction is one that most humans can relate to, and all will eventually face for themselves, making it an anxiety for more than half of earth s population. • 19. Art In The Renaissance During the period of the Renaissance, many prolific artists were commissioned by prominent families and or groups to create works of art to show personal affluence and dedication to a faith or deity. These actions, seemingly harmless, gave rise to much competition between cities, and some more so than others. Such competition was common, especially considering the fact that Italy was not yet a unified country and was divided up into various city states. As the city states were ruled by affluent families, or prominent groups of people such as guilds or church leaders, rivalries often were due to disputes between said groups. Such was the case in Florence and Siena, as their many wars against one another sealed their opposition. To demonstrate this competition between major cities, one must look at works of art in each respective city and how each relates to one another. To do this, one can look at two prominent Maestá paintings commissioned in both Florence and Siena by the same artist. To begin, artists were influenced by the city in which they were commissioned. In this, artists work often reflects styles or themes of the cities in which they are working at certain points in time. Take Duccio for example. His first commission for a Maestá was in Florence for a Dominican oriented group that sought to do good deeds in the name of the Virgin Mary. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the altarpiece for the Santa Maria Novella church would depict the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child as the main subject matter. As Duccio was a Sienese painter and was influenced by other Sienese painters, many aspects of Sienese artistry is evident in his paintings, but he clearly adheres to the vertical style altarpieces with which many Florentines were commissioning around that time that were depicting the same subject matter. In the painting, the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child sit in the middle while various angelic beings, possessing the likenesses of different saints, hover around the throne. The throne that the Virgin Mary sits on is not large and does not take up a lot of space, thus allowing the few figures on the sides of the throne to float freely. • 23. Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder Research Paper Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is part of many veteran s lives in the U.S. today. PTSD is a serious mental and emotional disorder that people often don t understand or don t know about. It s defined as a mental illness that develops after a person has lived through a traumatizing event, such as sexual assault, physical abuse, threat of death, or serious injury. Most people who experience a distressing event don t develop PTSD, but for those who do, it s extremely terrifying to go through. Many U.S. veterans have to deal with serious emotional and mental trauma after their time of fighting is over. There aren t any statistics that show exactly how many people and veterans in the U.S. have PTSD, because most veterans don t know they have a mental disorder. They don t seek help; therefore statistics aren t certain. Studies have shown that at least 70% of adults have gone through a traumatic event, and 20% of those people develop PTSD. That s approximately 31.3 million people. Further investigation confirms that women are more likely to develop the illness than men are; approximately 1 out of 10 women will or have had PTSD. Combat veterans are even more likely to be diagnosed with PTSD after returning from the military, and an estimated study says that one out of every five veterans have or will develop the disorder. The military consists of 17% women, and 71% of those women develop PTSD from sexual assault within the ranks. These are studies and estimates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most notably, Robert Stites, a blood spatter analyst from Portland Oregon credentials and capability would be called into question many times. Experience, knowledge and credibility of the blood spatter analyst as well as the blood evidence found at the scene led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who arrived home in September 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead in their car. David Camm had been playing basketball with family and friends in a church gym, as he did every week. He left the church around 9:17pm, drove home, discovered the bodies and called the police in a span of 12 minutes. David s wife, Kimberly, and their children, 5 year old daughter Jill, and 7 year old son Brad were at swim class until 7 p.m before they arrived home (Fisher, 2013). David Camm became the police s prime suspect almost immediately. The police theorized that Camm had arrived home at 9:22, killed his family, disposed of the gun (it has not been recovered), cleaned up the crime scene, then called 911 (Fisher, 2013). The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock Essay The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock The Woodstock festival descended on Bethel, New York promising three days of peace and music. Event organizers anticipated 15,000 people would attend but were overwhelmed by the 300,000 people that flooded this rural area of New York state from August 15 17, 1969. While these facts are well known and indisputable, the festival itself has proven to be a controversial endeavor. What began as a small business venture was soon brimming with the controversy of an entire decade. • 26. Theories Of International Relations International relations theory is the study of international relations (IR) from a theoretical perspective. It attempts to provide a conceptual framework upon which international relations can be analyzed. There are several international theories, realism, liberalism, idealism, Marxism and functionalism are only few of the examples. Like political scientist Stephen M. Walt who published a much cited survey of the field in, One World, Many Theories, in 1998. I also believe that there are three dominant approaches: realism, liberalism, and an updated form of idealism called constructivism that can explain the world order today. Walt argued that these theories shape both public discourse and policy analysis. Realism focuses on the shifting distribution of power among states. Liberalism highlights the rising number of democracies and the turbulence of democratic transitions. Idealism illuminates the changing norms of sovereignty, human rights, and international justice, as well as the increased potency of religious ideas in politics. At realism s core is the belief that international affairs are a struggle for power among self interested states. Clear sighted states can mitigate the causes of war by finding ways to reduce the danger they pose to each other. Nor is realism necessarily amoral; its advocates that a ruthless pragmatism about power can yield a more peaceful world, if not an ideal one. Poliomyelitis translates to grey spinal matter inflammation. Polio is caused by a picorna virus that enters the body through mucus membranes and then multiplies in the throat and being an acidophile, can survive well in the stomach and small intestine. When viremia occurs and persists, the virus will penetrate the capillary wall. Once this happens, it enters the central nervous system and begins attacking motor neurons. Some reasons of this addiction are obvious such as influence of friends or community member as teenage is an enjoyable period of life span which offers all delights, it can be positive or negative as well. Some teen do experimental smoking just for taste in friends gathering but this experience enters in their life as a regular experiment. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nicotine brings up a level of good feelings. Cigarette smokers are aware when nicotine levels and good feelings begin to decrease and light up quickly enough to stay in their personal comfort zone. However, they may not realize that avoiding their feelings is not the same as taking positive steps to create a life of greater potential and meaning. Foreign Studies By: Erica Roth Smoking is an addiction that can lead to very serious health threats, including lung disease, cancer and stroke. The Campaign for Tobacco Free Children reports startling statistics regarding teen smoking: Every year more than 300,000 kids under the age of 18 start smoking. Approximately 30 percent of these new adolescent smokers will die from smoking related causes. Understanding the influences that cause teens to smoke may help parents find a way to approach their teens so that they won t want to begin the habit. Peer Pressure As a part of teens everyday lives, peer pressure can be a strong influence when it comes to smoking that first cigarette. MayoClinic.com advises parents to expect that your child will be exposed to friends who smoke and who encourage your child to join in. • 44. Becoming A Neurosurgeon Ever thought about people that do surgery on others brains. These people are called neurosurgeons, they save people s lives, my goal is to be just like them. Then have you ever heard of the University of California, San Francisco s medical school, their school is top ranked for neurosurgery. Which means if I go to the University of California, San Francisco for neurology, I could become an amazing neurosurgeon, pursue my goal, and learn more than I ever had. Now becoming a Neurosurgeon, wasn t always my goal, but it has been influenced by some characteristics and personal experiences. For instance I could save people s lives, and improve their daily average life majorly. Now this reason didn t just come normally to me, when I was much younger I remember witnessing my grandpa, and aunts funeral for losing to Brain Cancer, by massive tumors. Having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start off its very difficult to make a neurosurgeon become successful because of all the years of school you have to go through. Like you have to go through about 6 7 years, not counting finding an actual job, to become a surgeon of any kind. Not to forget that you are having to have lots of responsibility. Having responsibility is something that you need life long, but in neurology is where you need it most. Just think about it, you are responsible for their brain, for their life, for their relatives if something happens, thats a lot to take in which could really hurt your medical career if not taken into consideration. But also the fact about being committed to the job. In a way, you need to be married to the job. Not actually, but commitment is one of the biggest reasons why everyone can not be successful, you can t just give up under pressure. Which most people tend to do. With all of these risks to not become successful, I think that neurosurgery still is the best pick for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Computers And The Field Of Computer Engineering Electrical engineering is a wide field of study and the field of computer engineering is very intriguing. Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100 years which is a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and finding advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always something new that s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent advancements in what could shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a new age of computing. That great leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two years theirs been a lot of new and exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first came up with the idea was Feynman a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers. That they just couldn t handle the amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with the first concepts of a quantum computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward that can be attributed to a few factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like google, Intel and IBM have started to or have increased their resources and manpower on making quantum computing a reality. In 2014 John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara were working to make qubit gates more reliable and controllable. During their research and experimentation, they got a fidelity of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reaction in terms of color change was recorded. o Again, 3mm diameter spots of each cation solution were added to a second filter paper labeled, . Then spots were added to the cation solution spots which were both approximately 3mm in diameter. The results of this were then recorded. o The last spot test added four spots of each cation solution to their respective sections in the third filter paper. After the 3mm in diameter spots of cation solution were added, 3mm spots of DMG were added on top of the cation solutions. After adding the DMG, in a fume hood, the filter paper was placed in 600 mL beaker adjacent to a 50 mL beaker than contained 25 mL of half concentrated The results of color change were recorded. After the ten minutes expired, chromatogram one was removed from the beaker and it was covered.
