The Bus A Modern Panacea Summary
Transportation is an everyday occurrence in today s society; it takes you where you need to in a timely
manner. In the article The Bus, a Modern Panacea by Lester Detroit, he explains that taking the VTA is
a cure all solution. Detroit notes that the VTA is convenient because students do not have to drive
around to find parking space. He revels that students can save money with the free Echo Pass that is
provided with registered SJSU students. He also notes that taking the VTA helps with the
environmental problems because it solves traffic congestion, rising oil consumption, and carbon
pollution. With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it
saves money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. Taking the VTA can save thousands
of dollars annually. When people pay for gas it usually costs around three dollars per gallon depending
on the company. Mantill Williams states in her article, Individuals Save $9,343 by Riding Public
Transit Annually , that on a monthly basis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When someone takes the public transit they usually have to walk from place to place to get to where
they need to go. In the article, Healthy alternative: Take mass transit by Larry Copeland, he reveals
that for every thirty minutes someone is in the car it becomes a 3 percent greater chance of obesity. He
also mentions that for every kilometer walked everyday brings a 4.8 percent reduction to that chance.
Copeland mentions the Los Angeles Metro Fit how it encourages people to exercise more by taking
the transit, using the subway, exploring the local attractions, and riding bikes. In my experience, I have
to walk to and from the train station every day taking me about twenty two minutes to walk. Doing
this I have walked over 48 miles. I have found this a very healthy way of exercising. A third reason to
consider taking the VTA is the reason that it is good for the

Everyone Should Visit To Washington D. C. Washington
America is the best country. Everyone that does not live here should visit this beautiful place. It is
amazing because of the freedom, tons of places to visit and of course the food! First, America is a
place everyone should visit because all of the stuff to do. Some places to visit are the Grand canyon,
Washington D.C., Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls,Yellowstone Park, the Florida Everglades and
many others. First, is the Grand Canyon, which is located in Arizona by the Colorado river. It is 277
miles long, 18 miles wide and 6,093 feet deep. That would be a bad fall! It is about 6 million years old
and is home to many animals. Second, is Washington D.C. Washington D.C. is a city full of many

Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. It started being constructed in 1927 between 1934 and
1939 until the builder died after only finishing the heads of each president when originally the
sculptures were supposed to be down to their waists. Fourth, is Niagara Falls. They are three huge
waterfalls that are right on the border of New York and Canada. You can go on tours of the falls, but
be warned you will get wet! The names of the three waterfalls are horseshoe, American and bridal veil
falls and have been there for around ten thousand years already. Next is Yellowstone Park which runs
through Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. It is the very first national park in the world, is over three
thousand miles long and has been a park since around 1872. It is surrounded by canyons, rivers and

see themselves in the mirror they see those words too. They might not be depressed still they carry the

Perspective is everything. Many would argue that perspective doesn t matter; that perspective is just
some deep psychological nonsense that one does not need. Clearly that is not the case at all. It s only
logical fact that a positive outcome of life leads to a positive life. For example the person who

In the Tedtalk, Perception Is Everything, by Rory Sutherland. The advertising guru, Sutherland,
explains Our perception is leaky. We can t tell the difference between the quality of the food and the
environment in which we consume it. All of you would have seen this phenomenon if you have your
car is washed or valeted. When you drive away, your car feels as it drives better. And the reason for
this, unless my car valet is mysteriously changing the oil and performing work which I m not paying
him for and are unaware of, is because perception is in any case leaky. So if you do something that s
perceptional bad in one case, you can damage the other. Anyone s perception can be fixed. Some
gentlemen may think after a car wash their cars perform better but is that really the case? No, the car,
after is cleaning, is now perceived as higher quality, therefore, it performs at a higher level, which then
leads to the perception that the quality of life one lives has evolved. A clean car just makes anyone feel
better. With this information one can know start acknowledging that our perception of ourselves
matters because it can be leaky or fixed. The point is that some of the people out there may not be the
clean car therefor one may feel they don t perform at the same intensity as the cleaner ones. One may
have been born in poverty and therefor

That makes PP can be applied in many sectors.
Lastly, PP has a good resistance to fatigue, which means, even PP products had been used for a long
period of time, they will not have a structural damage easily. That makes the products of PP have a
high durability.
5. Usage
From the properties I have mentioned above, we can conclude that PP has a lot of advantages. And
because PP is very cheap, so it has a widely use in our daily lives.
As PP has a high melting point, one of the major usages of it is to produce dishware or food container,
it can also put into microwave for heating without the risk of being melted or release toxic substances.
Moreover, because PP is very tough, many plastic furniture are also made up of it. Compare to the
furniture made up of metal, PP s furniture can avoid corrosion. And it is more comfortable than metal
furniture because metal will become hot if u sit on it for a period of time, but PP s furniture is
relatively cooler as it is plastic.
Lastly, due to the resistance of fatigue, PP will also use to produce auto parts or industrial fibers, so it
can ensure the risk of breaking down due to fatigue is minimized, and the cost is also lowered.
6. Misconceptions
From the response of the general public to the plastic pellet incident, we can see that most of us may
have some common misconceptions towards the plastic pellets or PP.
Firstly, the PP itself is non toxic. If PP is toxic, then why

Plebeians Underdogs
Plebeians; The Underdogs of Rome
There are multiple reasons why the Plebeians were important to Rome. They were the farmers, the
tradesmen, and the soldiers. They did the brunt of the work. They were also the majority of Roman
citizens. I will attempt to explain why the Plebeians were so important.
Who were the Plebeians? What was their role in Rome? What occupation did they hold? How many of
them were there? All important questions. The Plebeians were members of the general citizenry in
ancient Rome as opposed to the privileged patrician class (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica.,
2014). They were either conquered people who came to live in Rome and eventually became Romans,
or people who sought refuge in Rome from political, criminal, ... Show more content on

You do all the hard labor at work, but your boss gets the promotion? You study harder and get better
grades, yet you can t go to college and that rich kid with a C average can? The Plebeians were
underdogs, not appreciated until they were gone, the majority who were drowned out by the minority.
Many of us can understand that. We have all been in the position of being the underdog, the one who
did it all and never got the credit. Perhaps that is why, in history, the Plebeians are painted as victims
and Patricians as power hungry, greedy noblemen. We feel like we can relate to them, and we do not
feel we can relate to the Patricians. That makes me wonder, are we all just Plebeians, being controlled
by a select few individuals who are lucky enough to be born into success or are we all Patricians,

Justification We Are Saved From The Guilt Of God
By justification we are saved from the guilt of sin and restored to the favour of God. But how can one
be assured their faith has been justified? Assurance was a heated debate during the reformation period.
It is apparent that Wesley wrestled with how to verbalize this piece of salvation puzzle as his critics
found his ideas to be contradictory at times. For sake of clarity, only the explicable attributes for
assurance will be brought forth. First and foremost, God is the source of assurance and not the
individual. Secondly, the fruits of the Spirit are testimony or evidence of justified faith. The Spirit of
God does give a believer such a testimony of his adoption that while it is present to the soul he can no
more doubt the reality of his sonship than he can doubt of the shining of the sun while he stands in the
full blaze of his beams. In other words, a person is assured that their faith has justified them from
being a servant of God to being a child of God because of the witnessed fruits or signs of the Holy
Spirit working within their heart. A third attribute is that assurance is self evident. Even though he
spoke in absolute tones, Wesley contemplated assurance for many years as he reconciled the
experience of others. This eventually led him to acknowledge the idea that assurance could vary for
certain people, in extreme circumstance at most. He also conceded from personal experience that the
intensity of assurance can change over time. How, then, does

Analysis Of The And The Agent
Griffiths also uses two, deeply contrasting ideas to highlight his personal political or social stance, as
the characters of Eddie Waters and the agent, Challenor, are juxtaposed to one another. Water s idea
that one should work through laughter, not for it , implies a deep social purpose to comedy, whereas
Challenor tells the comedians not to be deep...we re servants that s all. They demand, we supply . The
fact that this play itself is a means of utilising comedy to convey deeper ideas, means the audience are
more likely to vie with Waters, since he is encouraging the former ideal. The audience can see this as
Griffith s undying honest belief in human perfectibility coming through, as Chanellor becomes similar

Skippy Dies the narrator uses avant garde literary techniques to both satirise and sympathise with its

Dies, the reader experiences a vast array of methods to satirize the characters; Skippy s relationship

Bravery Bravery is the theme that indicated in the texts The Maze Runner, Tomorrow When The War
Began, World War Z, The Hunger Games. These four texts has shown that sometimes it s a risk to
your own life to be brave. In the book The Maze Runner written by James Dashner, Thomas woke up
and finds himself amidst a group of men in large open spaces surrounded by huge concrete walls that
will lead him to the maze. It opens every morning and closes when the sun sets. Later in the book,
Minho and Alby (the two runners) went into the maze they didn t return on time as usual. People were
waiting for them at the gate including Thomas. At the last second they finally came out, however Alby
was injured and the gate was about to close. Thomas thought he had no choice but to sacrifice himself
for Alby. Thomas knew he had no choice. He moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods

A Spiral Galaxy
NGC 1672, a barred spiral galaxy located in the direction of the southern constellation Dorado lies
more than 60 million light years away. This is a spiral galaxy that s composed of stars in a central bar
shaped design. NGC 1672 is a member of the Seyfert galaxy, which was named after famous
astronomer, Carl Keenan Seyfert, who extensively studied galaxies with active nuclei in the 1940s. In
the middle of NGC 1672 s galaxy, it contains a high surface brightness bar from which four wire like
spiral arms extend outwards. This galaxy s symmetrical look is mainly formed by the four extending
arms of which are bordered with the most spectacular dust lines that extend out from the center.
Unlike the normal galaxies, NGC 1672 s arms do not fully spiral all the way to the center. The arms
are actually connected to both ends of a linear like bar of stars encompassing the nucleus. In fact, the
arms extending from the middle of this galaxy is the main reason I was drawn to this image. The arms
with the beautiful pinkish purple rays look like an Eastern Redbud blossoming in the months of April
May, which have always caught my eye since I was a little kid. Visible from the Southern Hemisphere,
NGC 1672 shows extraordinary regions of star formations. Near the edges of this galaxy s galactic
bar, the greatest clustering of star formations can be found. The picture taken of NGC 1672 above was

Christian Values In The Epic Of Beowulf
Written by a christian poet, the epic of Beowulf clearly outlines that failure to avenge an assault is
considered shameful. However, Christian values say to just turn the other cheek . It is interesting how
this epic poem can have both values at once, because of their clearly cut out contradictions.
Throughout the epic of Beowulf, Christian philosophy is represented in many ways, like how God
protects them from being killed, how God provides them with everything they need in life. However,
there is also a strong, contradicting sense of pageanism and heroic code displayed by Beowulf which
is mostly conflicting with christianity. In the epic Beowulf, Beowulf is portrayed as an internally
conflicted character who while avenging Escher s death, appealing to God for victory and reveling in
his own glory, vacillates between adhering to Christian and pagan values. ... Show more content on

However, later credits all of his glory to God. The christian bible states, If you forgive those who sin
against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father

mom, follows the heroic code and takes revenge, and kills her for killing Aescher. He states It is better
for us all to avenge our friends Through this act, Beowulf shows his orientation towards the Heroic
code, that sets Failure to avenge an assault is considered shameful . However, Beowulf still credits his
victory to God, stating God gives us guidance to those who can find it by no one else This shows his
internal conflict, how he can t decide between pageanism and christianity. On one side, he does
pagean acts that contradict with christian values, but on the other side, he still believes his victory is
all because of God, who is clearly opposing of all pagean

In 2012 there were 338,623 new cases of cancer in the UK. In the same year 161,823 people died from

Along with radiotherapy treatment, chemotherapy is of the most common treatment for cancer in that
it has been proven as one of the most effective. Chemotherapy kills the cancer cells by damaging them
so that they can t reproduce and spread, it uses anti cancer medicines also called cytotoxic medicines

Socioeconomic Inequality Of High School Dropout Rates

compared to White students. In 2012, the dropout rate for African Americans was 7.5 percent. For the
Hispanic population it was 12.7 percent, and for Native Americans it was 14.6 percent. All of these
rates of minority dropout which are all significantly higher than the rates of Whites and Asians/Pacific

High school dropout is not an issue that solely affects North Carolina. In fact, the term dropout factory
is one that can be found in research articles and news reports across the country. This term has been
ascribed to as many as 1,700 high schools nationally (Tyler Lofstrom, 2009). With this volume of
schools being labeled as schools that allow, and possibly even stimulate, large number of students not
to continue onto graduation with their peers, the question is posed; why are students dropping out?
This question does not have one answer, but rather several factors both within and without of the
school s control.
In North Carolina a student can legally stop going to school at the age of 16. However, this is not a
decision that students hastily make, rather it is a gradual process of disengagement (Bridgeland,
DiLulio Jr. Morison, 2006). There are many reasons as to why these students choose to dropout,
including extenuating circumstances they may not be able to control. North Carolina requires a
majority of their districts to have school social workers or counselors document the reasons students
provide for dropping out of school. These reasons vary from school attendance having the highest
percentage of 40.3, community college enrollment, conflicts with work, unstable home environment,
change of location, need to care for children, and incarceration (Public Schools of North Carolina,
2015).
The literature refers to three factors that cause students not

Dysfunctional Leadership
Dysfunctional leadership suffocate others with coercive power and ego, are unpredictable, and often
lack self awareness about their dysfunction (Shuck, Rose, Bergman, 2015).It has an emphasis on
selfishness, as its primary focus is on the leader s goals and objectives contrasted with the needs of
employees and the greater social organization. The impacts of dysfunctional leadership are felt in the
outcomes of the organization that undermines the quality of life for individuals who are could either
be internal or external to the organization and undermine their fundamental objectives. Undesirable
organizational consequences are the result of a dysfunctional leader behavior and vulnerable followers

Several studies suggest that followers require security, safety, predictability, and group membership in
an unstable world. Certain followers gain from dysfunctional activities making contributions to the
toxic foresight of the leader. Needs for identity, social order, coordination of collective activity, and
cohesion exists at the team level. An expected drive to for individuals to conform to group norms,
impersonate people of high status, and submit to figures of authority is also present. As such, it is
important to differentiate the diverse varieties of vulnerable populations. Some followers lack well
defined self concept and those who share in values of the leader, bystanders who let bad leadership to
take place, and acolytes who are the true believers who subscribe to the destruction. Collectively, there
is a creation of two groups of followers which includes the colluders and the conformers (Manning

conformers obey with the dysfunctional leader due to fear. Both categories of followers are driven by
selfishness though have varying concerns. While colluders pursue personal advancement through
involvement with a dysfunctional leader, including promotion and prevention inspiration, conformers
seek to reduce the outcomes of not going along. The foundation of conformers susceptibility is on
negative self assessments, unmet basic needs, and emotional immaturity. Conversely, colluders are

Examples Of Character Changes In Remember The Titans
Describe how a character changes in the film Remember the Titans Explain why this change occurs.
In the film Remember the titans which was directed by Boaz Yakin. I thought that Julius had changed
the most during the film and these changes occurred in these three points. One point is how Julius was
a very strong an opinionated person. The second point is Julius and Gerry finally confronted each
other about getting along and the last point is how coach Boone pushed Julius and Gerry to share the
captaincy roles to work hard together for the team to follow in example.
Julius was a very opinionated person, who was all about himself and not looking after his own team or
anyone else for that matter. For example when Julius was confronted by Gerry, during this
conversation Julius said I m supposed to wear out myself for this team? What team? Nope that s not
what I m going to do is I m going to look after myself. When this confrontation was happening there
were many close up camera shots, this was because the director wanted to show the emotion and anger
in the faces of Gerry and Julius. This shows that Julius is a very opinionated person and he only cares
about himself, this is shown in what he told Julius.

Humanity In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
When one typically thinks about a lottery, images of people yelling for joy and stacks of cash,
typically come to mind. But that is not the case with Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery .
Whereas lotteries typically have a positive connotation, Jackson s lottery is quite the opposite Jackson
s sinister tale, published in the late 1940s, was written in order to highlight the pointless violence and
general inhumanity that was present in the world. Jackson s writing was meant to shock, and in doing
so, make the story s message memorable to readers. In her story, Jackson uses seemingly ordinary
details about the townspeople and the lottery itself, to emphasize her theme that although humanity
claims to be civilized, it is, in reality, inherently barbaric.
Throughout her story, Jackson provides various instances of humanity s pseudo normalcy. First ...

insignificant segment in their day to day lives. Next, Jackson includes how the false sense of
normality created by humanity is presented by its children. Jackson described how the children of the
village had gathered first since school was over for the summer and the feeling of liberty sat uneasily
on most of them . Typically, when children leave school for the summer they are happy. But for the

How Did The Crusades Affect The World
The crusades were a series of wars mainly between the Christians and Muslims over the holy city of
Jerusalem. The Crusades lasted some 200 years. The two religions didn t see eye to eye, the Christians
saw the Islamic religion as a threat to Christianity. In the year 1095 Pope Urban II charged a crusade
against the muslims in Jerusalem. Many people went on a crusade for different reasons. Many were
strictly religious, while others were money related, some even went to avoid imprisonment. The
Crusades still impact the world we live in today. There are many lasting effects that the crusades had
on that part of the world and some even worldwide.
The crusades are important because they were the first time that peoples religion caused them to go to
war. People were brainwashed into thinking that what they were doing was God s will. People were
driven to do things that were one hundred percent contradictory to their religions teachings, the bible
says thou shall not kill . The holy city of Jerusalem is an important place for multiple religions. Two of
the larger ones are Christianity and Islam. These two have many things in common, their differences
are quite minimal compared to other religions. One Pope declared the crusade to regain the city for
Christianity, and it caused not only 200 years of blood battles and crimes, but issues still arise today. ...

Shuzworld Task 2
I was asked to provide a distribution pattern that minimizes shipping costs and provides adequate
availability and demand. I used transportation modeling to solve this problem. Transportation
modeling is an interactive procedure that finds the least costly means of moving products from a series
of sources to a series of destinations (Heizer Render, 2011). This tool is used to determine the best
distribution pattern for multiple locations. It is best for this problem because it allows for us to
determine how many products can be held at each location to give Shuzworld the lowest shipping
costs. The original setup had an optimal shipping cost of $13,600. It had 1300 ... Show more content

Machine 1 had a reliability of 84%, Machine 2 s reliability was 91%, and Machine 3 had a reliability
of 99%. The first possible setup, and ultimately the recommended setup, was to backup Machine 1.
This led to an overall reliability of 84%. Backing up Machine 2 only gave a reliability of 82%.
Backing up Machine 3 only gave a reliability of 76%. Therefore the recommendation is to backup
Machine 1 and increase the reliability to 88%. The next task is to provide the optimum number of
shoelaces to order, using appropriate cost balancing. The economic order quantity (EOQ) is the order
amount that allows for an optimum level of materials at the lowest cost possible. There is a demand
ofr 300,000 shoelaces per year. The setup cost is $125 per order. There is a $.10 holding cost per unit.
The optimal order quantity recommended is 27,386.13 shoelaces per order, with a maximum inventory
of 27,386.13. This means that we will order just the amount of shoelaces needed to fulfill current
production orders. The average inventory is 13,693.06 shoelaces. There will be approximately 10.95
orders per year. The annual setup cost is $1,369.31, and the annual holding cost is $1,369.31. This
makes the total cost per year $2, 738.61. This decision tool allows us to calculate the correct amount
needed per order to ensure that we are lowering operating and holding costs, while keeping production
properly stocked. The last task was to

Block Schedule Advantages
Eyes watching the clock, praying it could move faster. The students are full of joy when the bell
finally rings. Only to wake up tomorrow to repeat it over again. Some teachers and students want to
go to block scheduling for the upcoming school year. Having Advanced Composition in either of the
block schedules has its advantages and disadvantages. In contrast to a traditional school schedule, a
block schedule consists of different variations, such as A/B and 4x4 schedules. In an A/B schedule,
classes meet every other day for an extended period of time. Students take eight classes throughout the
year, taking four classes on A Days and alternating the other four on B Days. The A days would be
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, etc. Each class period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students will have more time in class to ask the teacher questions regarding the particular topic they
are writing about. They will receive better grades on papers because they have more time for student
teacher interaction, Student s grade point averages increased in almost all subjects (Chaika). In
addition to the students, an Advanced Composition teacher would have only three classes to teach in a
semester, reducing the number of students taught regularly. The teacher has more planning time to
organize a solid lesson. Teachers have fewer preparations and more planning time. They teach three
classes of 90 minutes and plan for one 90 minute period, therefore, 25% of their time can be devoted
to planning (Advantages). The learning process is greater for both students and teachers.
Block schedules present both disadvantages and advantages, particularly in regards to a class like
Advanced Composition. Block scheduling is just one of many pieces of the puzzle of school reform.
Many schools across America are transitioning over to block scheduling. In order for block scheduling
to succeed, students and teachers have to be willing to work to achieve the same academic goal of
brilliance. If schools want to produce good writers, they need a block

Comparing Ophelia In A Doll s House And Wuthering Heights
In Poetics, Aristotle argues that tragedy must revolve around a protagonist who exhibits certain
characteristics that lead to their downfall. Hamartia, often associated with Greek tragedy, includes a
moment of anagnorisis, which generally arouses fear and empathy amongst the audience, making it a
cathartic moment in a play. Hamlet, A Doll s House and Wuthering Heights are texts that explore the
tensions and complexities of tragic narrative. To fully understand if the women in these texts are tragic
heroines, it seems necessary to consider the degree to which their ends are tragic. Part of Shakespeare
s tragedy, Hamlet revolves around the character of Ophelia and Hamlet s relationship with her. Due to
the patriarchal ideology of the 16th century, Ophelia is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Occupational Hazard Of The Coal Mining Industry
A research study provided by Harvard concluded that individuals who did not have access to an
adequate health insurance policy had a forty percent higher risk of death than there more financially
inept counter parts. According to this study an average of one American dies every thirty minutes due
to lack of adequate health care due to financial ineligibility. The work force also known as middle
class americans are truly the ones who are directly affected by the intelligibility to afford decent health
care. Consequently working class americans are the ones who traditionally are the unhealthiest due to
the nature of many of the individuals careers. For example, black lung is known occupational hazard
in the coal mining industry. Starting in 1968, there have been 75,000 death contributed to black lung.
It was not until 1978 that the coal miners were compensated for sickness and death contributed to
black lung disease. The debate on whether or not health care is an inalienable right has been discussed
since the late 1800 s. During the reformer and progressive era the federal government took little to
know interest in reforming the health regime in America. The choice was given to the individual states
to decide on what the best method would be. This is when the states ultimately left the health care side
of politics to private and voluntary programs. Up until 1915 health care was not a discussion worth
while to the federal government. Theodore Roosevelt believed every

Laissez Faire Vs Government Intervention
Laissez Faire vs. Government Intervention A Laissez Faire economy is where there is little to no
government interference between two private parties. A Laissez Faire economy with no government
intervention generates many possibilities for economic and social growth. Although this concept
seems like an ideal model for the American culture some could dispute this view, and say that
government intervention within the economy should be the main way business should be conducted in
the economy. When the government intervenes between two private parties the government acts as the
intermediary between the two parties and can settle any problems that may come from these
interactions. Both of these economical concepts were both created so that an economy can be as

With that being said government intervention would be the ideal concept of the economy for
democrats. In the past America has suffered from economical crisis. A prime example of this is the
Great Depression that negatively affected the American economy. Many American lost all their money
through the stock market and inflation was at an all time high. With government intervention, the
government can regulate the up s and down s of the economy and make sure this scenario does not
happen again. Another advantage of government intervention is that the government keeps in mind all
interests of the American economy, poor and rich. The government can regulate how taxes are
dispersed according to the economical class of the individual. This would mean that the rich getting a
larger percentage of their income taxed compared to the lower classes. This concept would ultimately
help stimulate the economy as a whole would assist in the poor becoming the rich. In conclusion the
basic goal of Government Intervention is to make the country as a whole a more efficient and
productive environment that helps

The Pentecostal-Charismatic Movement Paper
Modern Christianity is full of several different practices. Baby dedication is the practice of Christians,
in which the parent(s) declare publicly in front of God, the church, and their family, they will lead
their child in the way God orders life to go, as well as encourage a personal relationship with God
throughout their lifetime as to never fall short of the glory of God. The baby dedication ceremony
historically began with churches who did not baptize babies (Patzia, 1984). Some believers felt it
unnecessary because God does not hold children accountable and they would go to heaven should
something occur prior to their date of accountability. The ceremony begins with the Pastor thanking
God for the blessing of the baby. Then, the parents must dedicate announce they have dedicated their
life to God and will bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One movement in particular is the Pentecostal Charismatic Movement. Although this movement is
rooted in ancient history, the last 100 years the movement has made great strides (Molloy, 2009). The
Pentecostals have faith in the emotional backing of Christian worship. They believe the Holy Spirit
manifests through them using miraculous blessings, such as speaking in tongues (Bartos, 2015). The
first Pentecostal churches first developed in the United States during the early twentieth century;
although, churches using the Pentecostal name have been around since the later part of the nineteenth
century. The growth of the church has been significant in such a short time span and it expands
globally. Traditionally, this movement was associated with the needy people of American culture
(Wheaton College, 2012). However, their ideas have spread quickly to other denominations, especially
with American youth. Several independent networks of churches have since emerged and Pentecostal
ideals have been highly influential. The number of individuals converting here and afar are

The Antamina mine, was the underlying asset of this bidding process which included 40 bidders;
though that number was steadily dwindling, and by June of 1996 was down to only a handful serious
contenders. Within the copper mining industry, there were three dominant players, RTZ CRA,
Noranda, and a joint venture of Inmet Mining and Rio Algom. These three were believed to be the
primary bidders. All three had ancillary mineral mining practices aside from copper, as well as other
areas of business. RTZ CRA was the largest of these three, and was believed to be the best positioned
to prevail on the bidding. The other bidders were smaller in capital but had the same level of mining
experience. The joint venture of Rio Algom and Inmet had only $1.5 billion combined market
capitalization, but Inmet had a healthier capital structure and less financial risk which created a lower
cost of capital. The bidding rules reduced the sensitivity of capital and created comparative advantages
for smaller players. For RTZ CRA to execute on their bid and acquire Antamina at a strategically
economic price, they would have to have made the decision of whether this property would provide
long term economic and strategic value. Since their footprint was global, they would be unable to
introduce certain synergies based on asset proximity of their other properties. Antamina would most
likely have to be acquired and operated as a stand alone project. Internal

important pieces of material in this book. You are not born with courage, friendship makes courage.
The story started with an act of courage when Sophie stood up at the window sill and when she also
sat up and waited for the Queen of England to wake up from her trogglehumper or sleep and open up
the blinds. It takes an exceeding amount of courage to sit on a windowsill sitting high above the

The Land Of Opportunity For Immigrants
The Land of Opportunity Immigrants created America, a nation that has embraced immigration.
Throughout the years, America developed its American Dream concept, which states that anyone can
succeed in the United States as long as that person works hard and does gives up. That concept, hope
or dream attracts thousands of individuals, many of which leave their native countries with their
hearth full of hope and the illusion of reaching and living the American Dream. However, the
wonderful dream in many occasions has become nothing but a horrible and unbearable nightmare.
They arrive to the land of opportunity that they thought was awaiting for them with fortune and
instead encounter a divided society, in which some people understand their plight and sympathize with
them while other look at them with anger, resentment, and even hate as if they are anything but human
beings. To understand the struggle that many immigrants suffer in their quest for a better life, we have
to either be an immigrant, be the descendant of one or become close to one; otherwise, we might not
understand their experience enough to relate to them and what it meant to leave their country, family
and friends behind. Since both legal and illegal immigration exists in America, our society ought to
learn about immigration, what causes it, and what it contributes to our nation s prosperity. I believe
immigrants are essential to the well being of the nation for several reasons. One reason that

Social Phobia And Social Anxiety Disorder Essay
Social Phobia, also called social anxiety disorder (SAD), is one of the most common, but
misconstrued mental health problems in society. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association
of America (ADAA), over 15 million adults suffer from the disorder. First appearing in the DSM III as
Social Phobia, and later in the DSM IV as Social Anxiety Disorder, this newly established disorder
denotes afflicting stress and anxiety associated with social situations (Zakri 677). According to James
W. Jefferson, two forms of Social phobia exist: specific and generalized. Specific social phobia
indicates anxiety limited to few performance situations, while generalized indicates anxiety in all
social situations (Jefferson). Many people often interchangeably link this disorder to shyness a
personality trait. However, although they have striking similarities, the two are divergent. To begin
with, SAD has an extensive etiology ranging from multiple factors. Furthermore, symptoms of various
aspects accompany SAD. Moreover, SAD has detrimental impacts affecting quality of life. Lastly,
SAD has numerous methods of treatment. Social Phobia is prevalent in both women and men
beginning at the onset of puberty (ADAA).
What is the etiology of Social Phobia? James Jefferson describes the causes of SAD as enigmatic . In
other words, researchers have not yet established the causes of SAD. Nevertheless, theories of its roots
surround SAD. Social phobia has an extensive etiology ranging from

nobody living can ever stop me. Another similarity is they are saying that everyone is worth it,

Taking a Look at Political Ideologies
It s an understatement to say our ideology shapes the way we live our lives every day. It affects the
way we view and react to different people. Ideology is a set of beliefs that affects our outlook on the
entire world. Most of the time ideology refers to a set of political beliefs or a set of ideas that relate to
religious views. In a simpler meaning, ideology means having a views or opinions based on your ideas
of that thing.
The Republican ideology today is based on conservatism. They believe in free market economy and
the government s job is to provide for its citizens with military protection. A conservative is someone
who values the heritage that comes from the past. They believe in classical principles and tend to be
more self righteous. Conservative Republicans believe in tradition, less regulation and free enterprise.
They believe in their rights and are hard working. This is the belief that you get what you work for but
the government still helps the ones in need.
Democrats think it is the responsibility of the government to care for all individuals. Democrats are
weak compared to the rest of the political ideologies. They believe the government knows what is best
for the citizens. A Democratic liberal is where democracy uses the principles of liberalism. This
includes social and economic equality. Liberals want the government to help with the lower class and
regulate the rich to ensure they do not have too much power. Liberals do not want a completely free

Women And Women In Giovanni Boccaccio And Francesco Barbaro
Giovanni Boccaccio and Francesco Barbaro provides for not only the men, but women in Italian
society their conventional opinion on the perfect example of how a wife should act and behave in
order to keep the domestic life at peace and whole. Through their story and most gracious outlook on a
woman s life, we can see what a marriage was life during this time. Based upon reading Boccaccio s
Decameron X, the story of the Count of Panago, Gualtieri and his peasant born wife, Griselda, as well
as Barbaro s On Wifely Duties, one may conclude that Barbaro would have considered Griselda a
good wife. In the story, Griselda endured the severe and unheard of trials that Gualtieri imposed upon
her and remained not only tearless but a happy face. From the presuming murder of their own children
to telling Griselda she will no longer be his wife, and be sent back to her poor, little house from where
she came, Griselda concealed her misery and unhappiness, with silence and no tears. Many ways in
her behavior indicates Griselda was the perfect wife during the Renaissance, according to Barbaro;
firstly, her obedience. Barbaro wrote that obedience to the husband was the most important component
in a marriage. In order that a wife does her duty and brings peace and harmony to her household, she
must agree to the first principle that she does not disagree with her husband on any point. Barbaro
implies stealthily that if a wife does not do her duty in agreeing and obeying her husband, she

Analysis Of The Journey Song Dont Stop Believin
The Journey song Don t Stop Believin is one of the band s most famous songs, and arguably their
magnum opus. However, the song itself goes deeper than its literal meaning, and tackles the theme of
finding your identity, following your dreams, and doing what you re passionate about. The name of
the song, Don t Stop Believin , follows its overall message and conveys it to listeners in a way that
they will understand its themes regardless of whether they are listening closely and trying to break it
down, or just singing along.
The first two stanzas read:

boy / Born and raised in South Detroit (2.1 2), describe two different people from two different
settings, who are supposedly united when they take the midnight train goin anywhere . The midnight
train referred to in each stanza might be symbolic for some common goal, or it might be more literal,
as two different people take a train in search of something new in their lives.
The third stanza reads:
A singer in a smoky room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Village Of Forest Park, Illinois
Introduction
When discussing microeconomics, there are several market structures that may have an impact the
economy in the Village of Forest Park, Illinois. These market structures including perfect competition,
monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly have many characteristics and have an impact on
the market as a whole. There are many barriers to entry, competitive pressure and price elasticity that
also impact the economic growth of the village. Other areas that affect the village s economy include
governmental roles and international trade.
Two Characteristics of the Four Market Structures
The major market structures that impact our current economy are perfect competition, monopolistic
competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A monopolistic competition describes a common market structure in which firms have many
competitors or sellers, but each one sells a vaguely distinctive product or service. One of this market
structure s characteristics is that each individual firm makes independent decisions about price and
output, based on its product, its market, and its costs of production (Economics Online, 2015).
Another characteristic is there is freedom to enter or leave the market, since there are no major
barriers to entry or exit. The opposite of this market structure is an oligopoly. Oligopoly means few
sellers. Oligopoly is the market structure in which there are only a few firms or a few firms dominate
the market (Amacher Pate, 2013). In an oligopolistic market, each seller supplies a large portion of all
the products sold in the marketplace. In addition, because the cost of starting a business in an
oligopolistic industry is usually high, the number of firms entering it is low.
Local Market Example
In the Village of Forest Park, the local electric company, ComEd, has a monopoly over the energy
market. While the village residents are able to chose what type of energy they use, whether its coal or
wind, each of the energy providers sell their energy to ComEd who then sets the price for its
consumers. There are no other energy companies or providers in the city, each person must use

1949 Armistice Agreements
Since its establishment in 1948, the State of Israel has fought eight recognized wars, two Palestinian
intifadas, and a series of armed conflicts in the broader Arab Israeli conflict.
Wars and other conflicts
Israel has been involved in a number of wars and large scale military operations, including:
Israeli war of independence Started as 6 months of civil war between Jewish and Arab militias at the
end of the British Mandate of Palestine and turned into a regular war after the declaration of
independence of Israel and the intervention of several Arab armies. In its conclusion, a set of
agreements were signed between Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, called the 1949 Armistice

carried out by the Israel Defense Forces in order to expel PLO forces from the territory. Continuing
ground and rocket attacks, and Israeli retaliations, eventually escalate into the 1982 War.
1982 Lebanon War Began on 6 June 1982, when the Israel Defense Forces invaded southern Lebanon
to expel the PLO from the territory. The Government of Israel ordered the invasion as a response to
the assassination attempt against Israel s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shlomo Argov, by the
Abu Nidal Organization and due to the constant terror attacks on northern Israel made by the
Palestinian guerilla organizations which resided in Lebanon. The war resulted in the expulsion of the
PLO from Lebanon and created an Israeli Security Zone in southern Lebanon.

Independence Of Indi Mahatma Gandhi
There were many Indian nationalists who had wriggled against the British, who had seized the whole
country of India. On the one hand, nationalists were extremists, who had fought against the British
army and sacrifice their lives for the country, while on the other hand, there were modernists, who had
made peaceful and non violent movements against British. These events were marked as of
prominence importance in the history. One of the greatest examples of nationalists in India was
Mahatma Gandhi, a modernist. He had employed Satyagraha (passive resistance) movements like Salt
March, Mass movements, and Quit India movement. He had also made his clothes from a spinning
wheel instead of buying them from English people. As a result of these movements, he made India an
independent nation and gained lots of reverence from Indians
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a small, seaside town in
the Kathiawar peninsula in western India about halfway between Mumbai and Karachi. He was born
at rich family. He was married to Kasturba at age thirteen. Since he was from a rich background, his
relatives were able to send him to England for better education. At England, he studied at University
College of London and became a lawyer. After his education, he went to South Africa to work as a
lawyer. At South Africa, his attendance was required at the lawsuit in Pretoria. So, he took the train
and moved in the first class compartment at first class tickets.

Dworkin Paternalism
How does Dworkin define paternalism, and when does he think it is justified?
In addressing the principle of paternalism, Dworkin notes that there may be more cases in which it
should be justified than what Mill stated. First Dworkin defines paternalism as the interference with a
person s liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good, happiness,
needs, interests or values of the person being coerced , although he later notes that in some cases,
paternalism may also extend to interferences with the liberty of parties whose interests are not in
question . He gives various examples of paternalistic laws and restrictions, such as the laws requiring
motorcyclists to wear safety helmets, regulating the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but
claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better
why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better fulfill
their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that they need
exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious exemptions as they are
advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so to exempt certain
categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and equality. In addition,
most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For example, in many countries,
including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s
face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions allowing the wearing of burkas
would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it enables fugitives to hide easily amongst
many other things.
If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they should
not be prohibited by the law at all. Bou Habib s argument makes sense, but I maintain that religious
exemptions would have negative consequences as it would leads to

ERD (Entity Relation Diagram)
2.1 History of ERD
An entity relationship model (ERM) is an abstract and conceptual representation of data. Entity
relationship modeling is a database modeling method, used to produce a type of conceptual schema or
semantic data model of a system, often a relational database, and its requirements in a top down
fashion. Diagrams created by this process are called entity relationship diagrams, ER diagrams, or
ERDs.
This technique was developed by PETER CHEN in 1976 since ... Show more content on

If an entity set participates in a relationship set, they are connected with a line.
Attributes are drawn as ovals and are connected with a line to exactly one entity or relationship set.
Cardinality constraints are expressed as follows: * A double line indicates a participation constraint,
totality or subjectivity: all entities in the entity set must participate in at least one relationship in the
relationship set; * an arrow from entity set to relationship set indicates a key constraint, i.e. infectivity:
each entity of the entity set can participate in at most one relationship in the relationship set; * A thick
line indicates both, i.e. objectivity: each entity in the entity set is involved in exactly one relationship.
* an underlined name of an attribute indicates that it is a key: two different entities or relationships
with this attribute always have different values for this attribute.
Attributes are often omitted as they can clutter up a diagram; other diagram techniques often list entity
attributes within the rectangles drawn for entity sets. Chen s notation for entity relationship modeling
uses rectangles to represent entities, and diamonds to represent relationships appropriate for first class
objects: they can have attributes and relationships of their own.

negate the assimilationist progress script imposed upon ethnic groups (28). In other words, the
representation of a fluid gender conscious demonstrates the chicanoismo ideology of a new ethnically
blended identity to a gender blended identity which contests the attachment of roles on both a gender
conscious, an ethnic conscious and the majority world culture.
The Mexican American community supports the subservient female role in society portraying them as
docile, reliant and obedient to their male accompaniment. The domestic household utility of Mexican
American woman is symbolized in a variety of household objects including attire that capitulate their
gender representation. For example, as a child, Ermila recognizes her grandmother and female
compassion by her apron, an article of clothing symbolizing servitude. When she spots her without the
apron, she can hardly recognize her without the symbolic article of clothing. In turn, Grandmother
Zumaya has her moments with conflict against the patriarchal Gesellschaft with her husband, in her

infiltrating the domestic household. However, unlike Ermila, Grandmother Zumaya is far too
entrenched by her upbringing and time stay in the older generational Mexican American patriarchal
society to break herself away from it, and her conflict against it never reaches farther from the front
doorstep of her household. Her immediate regression back to confines of the patriarchy, symbolically

Organizational Leadership Essay
As technology accelerates the speed of change, shortens product life cycles, and increases
competition, companies have struggled to keep pace, remain relevant, and develop sustainable
competitive advantages. As a result, companies have come to the conclusion that maximizing the
contributions of their human capital must be a critical component of their strategy to acquire and
sustain a competitive advantage in today s global marketplace (Lyte, 2016). Therefore, in an effort to
increase employee engagement and maximize employee contributions to the organization group

earnings per share 147% higher than their competitors (Sorenson, 2013). As a result, the Gallup
organizations has concluded, the impact of the manager is one of the most robust insights Gallup has
ever discovered and are among the most important drivers of long term organizational success (Rigoni
Nelson, 2016).
Nevertheless, locating or developing leaders that can elicit and sustain high levels of engagement from
employees is challenging to say the least and the impact of failing to select or develop effective
leaders can have catastrophic impacts to an organization. As a result, given this challenge, along with
the complex and rapidly changing nature of the global marketplace, some cutting edge business
leaders have surmised the traditional hierarchical organizational leadership structure can no longer
sufficiently engage employees in a manner that enables organizations to keep pace with the speed of
change. Consequently, several prominent organizations, such as, Zappos, Morning Star, and W.L.

The Narcissism Epidemic Analysis
Narcissism the American way of thinking and we don t have to look far to find it. Todays celebrities
flaunt their oversized egos and too hot for you bodies. Access Hollywood thrives on potential celebrity
truths and gossip magazines. Society operate under the pleasure principle, accepting nothing less that
what we deserve. We buy houses on easy credit with an APR of 18% or higher. Facebook has become
a way of expressing ourselves. Clothing has become optional and we question how we got here? Jean
M. Twenge and W. Keith Campbell, authors of The Narcissism Epidemic, have compiled enticing and
compelling evidence for the development of culturally accepted narcissism. According to the two,
there are more narcissists than ever; even non narcissistic people are being seduced by cultural
emphasis on material wealth, physical appearance, and celebrity gossip (Twenge Campbell, 2009, pp.
1 2). Standards have shifted, trapping otherwise humble people into believing societies standards for
success. Twenge and Campbell s book was designed as a wake up call. The two authors work together
to uncover the truth behind societal narcissism, while revealing its long term consequences. The word

  • 2. The Bus A Modern Panacea Summary Transportation is an everyday occurrence in today s society; it takes you where you need to in a timely manner. In the article The Bus, a Modern Panacea by Lester Detroit, he explains that taking the VTA is a cure all solution. Detroit notes that the VTA is convenient because students do not have to drive around to find parking space. He revels that students can save money with the free Echo Pass that is provided with registered SJSU students. He also notes that taking the VTA helps with the environmental problems because it solves traffic congestion, rising oil consumption, and carbon pollution. With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it saves money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. They might be lucky enough for someone or some awesome event to come by, change the way they viewed the world outside, and the way they view the world inside them. Perspective is everything. Many would argue that perspective doesn t matter; that perspective is just some deep psychological nonsense that one does not need. Clearly that is not the case at all. We can t tell the difference between the quality of the food and the environment in which we consume it. All of you would have seen this phenomenon if you have your car is washed or valeted. When you drive away, your car feels as it drives better. And the reason for this, unless my car valet is mysteriously changing the oil and performing work which I m not paying him for and are unaware of, is because perception is in any case leaky. So if you do something that s perceptional bad in one case, you can damage the other. Anyone s perception can be fixed. Some gentlemen may think after a car wash their cars perform better but is that really the case? No, the car, after is cleaning, is now perceived as higher quality, therefore, it performs at a higher level, which then leads to the perception that the quality of life one lives has evolved. A clean car just makes anyone feel better. With this information one can know start acknowledging that our perception of ourselves matters because it can be leaky or fixed. The point is that some of the people out there may not be the clean car therefor one may feel they don t perform at the same intensity as the cleaner ones. Lastly, PP has a good resistance to fatigue, which means, even PP products had been used for a long period of time, they will not have a structural damage easily. That makes the products of PP have a high durability. 5. Usage From the properties I have mentioned above, we can conclude that PP has a lot of advantages. And because PP is very cheap, so it has a widely use in our daily lives. As PP has a high melting point, one of the major usages of it is to produce dishware or food container, it can also put into microwave for heating without the risk of being melted or release toxic substances. Moreover, because PP is very tough, many plastic furniture are also made up of it. Compare to the furniture made up of metal, PP s furniture can avoid corrosion. And it is more comfortable than metal furniture because metal will become hot if u sit on it for a period of time, but PP s furniture is relatively cooler as it is plastic. Lastly, due to the resistance of fatigue, PP will also use to produce auto parts or industrial fibers, so it can ensure the risk of breaking down due to fatigue is minimized, and the cost is also lowered. 6. The Plebeians were members of the general citizenry in ancient Rome as opposed to the privileged patrician class (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica., 2014). We have all been in the position of being the underdog, the one who did it all and never got the credit. Perhaps that is why, in history, the Plebeians are painted as victims and Patricians as power hungry, greedy noblemen. We feel like we can relate to them, and we do not feel we can relate to the Patricians. • 8. Justification We Are Saved From The Guilt Of God By justification we are saved from the guilt of sin and restored to the favour of God. But how can one be assured their faith has been justified? Assurance was a heated debate during the reformation period. It is apparent that Wesley wrestled with how to verbalize this piece of salvation puzzle as his critics found his ideas to be contradictory at times. For sake of clarity, only the explicable attributes for assurance will be brought forth. First and foremost, God is the source of assurance and not the individual. Secondly, the fruits of the Spirit are testimony or evidence of justified faith. The Spirit of God does give a believer such a testimony of his adoption that while it is present to the soul he can no more doubt the reality of his sonship than he can doubt of the shining of the sun while he stands in the full blaze of his beams. In other words, a person is assured that their faith has justified them from being a servant of God to being a child of God because of the witnessed fruits or signs of the Holy Spirit working within their heart. A third attribute is that assurance is self evident. Even though he spoke in absolute tones, Wesley contemplated assurance for many years as he reconciled the experience of others. This eventually led him to acknowledge the idea that assurance could vary for certain people, in extreme circumstance at most. He also conceded from personal experience that the intensity of assurance can change over time. How, then, does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Christian Values In The Epic Of Beowulf Written by a christian poet, the epic of Beowulf clearly outlines that failure to avenge an assault is considered shameful. However, Christian values say to just turn the other cheek . It is interesting how this epic poem can have both values at once, because of their clearly cut out contradictions. Throughout the epic of Beowulf, Christian philosophy is represented in many ways, like how God protects them from being killed, how God provides them with everything they need in life. However, there is also a strong, contradicting sense of pageanism and heroic code displayed by Beowulf which is mostly conflicting with christianity. In fact, the term dropout factory is one that can be found in research articles and news reports across the country. This term has been ascribed to as many as 1,700 high schools nationally (Tyler Lofstrom, 2009). With this volume of schools being labeled as schools that allow, and possibly even stimulate, large number of students not to continue onto graduation with their peers, the question is posed; why are students dropping out? This question does not have one answer, but rather several factors both within and without of the school s control. In North Carolina a student can legally stop going to school at the age of 16. However, this is not a decision that students hastily make, rather it is a gradual process of disengagement (Bridgeland, DiLulio Jr. Morison, 2006). There are many reasons as to why these students choose to dropout, including extenuating circumstances they may not be able to control. North Carolina requires a majority of their districts to have school social workers or counselors document the reasons students provide for dropping out of school. These reasons vary from school attendance having the highest percentage of 40.3, community college enrollment, conflicts with work, unstable home environment, change of location, need to care for children, and incarceration (Public Schools of North Carolina, 2015). Jackson s writing was meant to shock, and in doing so, make the story s message memorable to readers. The two religions didn t see eye to eye, the Christians saw the Islamic religion as a threat to Christianity. In the year 1095 Pope Urban II charged a crusade against the muslims in Jerusalem. Many people went on a crusade for different reasons. Many were strictly religious, while others were money related, some even went to avoid imprisonment. The Crusades still impact the world we live in today. There are many lasting effects that the crusades had on that part of the world and some even worldwide. The crusades are important because they were the first time that peoples religion caused them to go to war. People were brainwashed into thinking that what they were doing was God s will. People were driven to do things that were one hundred percent contradictory to their religions teachings, the bible says thou shall not kill . The holy city of Jerusalem is an important place for multiple religions. Two of the larger ones are Christianity and Islam. Decision Analysis Task 2 Essay Shuzworld Task 2 Charlene Taylor WGU 000345193 Shuzworld Task 2 I was asked to provide a distribution pattern that minimizes shipping costs and provides adequate availability and demand. I used transportation modeling to solve this problem. Transportation modeling is an interactive procedure that finds the least costly means of moving products from a series of sources to a series of destinations (Heizer Render, 2011). This tool is used to determine the best distribution pattern for multiple locations. Therefore the recommendation is to backup Machine 1 and increase the reliability to 88%. The next task is to provide the optimum number of shoelaces to order, using appropriate cost balancing. The economic order quantity (EOQ) is the order amount that allows for an optimum level of materials at the lowest cost possible. There is a demand ofr 300,000 shoelaces per year. This means that we will order just the amount of shoelaces needed to fulfill current production orders. The average inventory is 13,693.06 shoelaces. There will be approximately 10.95 orders per year. The annual setup cost is $1,369.31, and the annual holding cost is $1,369.31. This makes the total cost per year $2, 738.61. Within the copper mining industry, there were three dominant players, RTZ CRA, Noranda, and a joint venture of Inmet Mining and Rio Algom. These three were believed to be the primary bidders. All three had ancillary mineral mining practices aside from copper, as well as other areas of business. RTZ CRA was the largest of these three, and was believed to be the best positioned to prevail on the bidding. The other bidders were smaller in capital but had the same level of mining experience. The joint venture of Rio Algom and Inmet had only $1.5 billion combined market capitalization, but Inmet had a healthier capital structure and less financial risk which created a lower cost of capital. The bidding rules reduced the sensitivity of capital and created comparative advantages for smaller players. However, the song itself goes deeper than its literal meaning, and tackles the theme of finding your identity, following your dreams, and doing what you re passionate about. The name of the song, Don t Stop Believin , follows its overall message and conveys it to listeners in a way that they will understand its themes regardless of whether they are listening closely and trying to break it down, or just singing along. The first two stanzas read: Just a small town girl Livin in a lonely world She took the midnight train Goin anywhere Just a city boy Born and raised in South Detroit He took the midnight train Goin anywhere The first two lines of each stanza, Just a small town girl / Livin in a lonely world (1.1 2) and Just a city boy / Born and raised in South Detroit (2.1 2), describe two different people from two different settings, who are supposedly united when they take the midnight train goin anywhere . The midnight train referred to in each stanza might be symbolic for some common goal, or it might be more literal, as two different people take a train in search of something new in their lives. The third stanza reads: A singer in a smoky room The smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on The first two lines of this stanza, A singer in a smoky room / The smell of wine and cheap ... These market structures including perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly have many characteristics and have an impact on the market as a whole. There are many barriers to entry, competitive pressure and price elasticity that also impact the economic growth of the village. Other areas that affect the village s economy include governmental roles and international trade. Two Characteristics of the Four Market Structures The major market structures that impact our current economy are perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A monopolistic competition describes a common market structure in which firms have many competitors or sellers, but each one sells a vaguely distinctive product or service. One of this market structure s characteristics is that each individual firm makes independent decisions about price and output, based on its product, its market, and its costs of production (Economics Online, 2015). Another characteristic is there is freedom to enter or leave the market, since there are no major barriers to entry or exit. The opposite of this market structure is an oligopoly. Oligopoly means few sellers. Oligopoly is the market structure in which there are only a few firms or a few firms dominate the market (Amacher Pate, 2013). In an oligopolistic market, each seller supplies a large portion of all the products sold in the marketplace. In addition, because the cost of starting a business in an oligopolistic industry is usually high, the number of firms entering it is low. Local Market Example In the Village of Forest Park, the local electric company, ComEd, has a monopoly over the energy market. While the village residents are able to chose what type of energy they use, whether its coal or wind, each of the energy providers sell their energy to ComEd who then sets the price for its consumers. There are no other energy companies or providers in the city, each person must use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Dworkin Paternalism How does Dworkin define paternalism, and when does he think it is justified? In addressing the principle of paternalism, Dworkin notes that there may be more cases in which it should be justified than what Mill stated. First Dworkin defines paternalism as the interference with a person s liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good, happiness, needs, interests or values of the person being coerced , although he later notes that in some cases, paternalism may also extend to interferences with the liberty of parties whose interests are not in question . He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better fulfill their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that they need exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious exemptions as they are advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so to exempt certain categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and equality. In addition, most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For example, in many countries, including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions allowing the wearing of burkas would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it enables fugitives to hide easily amongst many other things. If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they should not be prohibited by the law at all. Bou Habib s argument makes sense, but I maintain that religious exemptions would have negative consequences as it would leads to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If an entity set participates in a relationship set, they are connected with a line. Attributes are drawn as ovals and are connected with a line to exactly one entity or relationship set. Cardinality constraints are expressed as follows: * A double line indicates a participation constraint, totality or subjectivity: all entities in the entity set must participate in at least one relationship in the relationship set; * an arrow from entity set to relationship set indicates a key constraint, i.e. infectivity: each entity of the entity set can participate in at most one relationship in the relationship set; * A thick line indicates both, i.e. objectivity: each entity in the entity set is involved in exactly one relationship. * an underlined name of an attribute indicates that it is a key: two different entities or relationships with this attribute always have different values for this attribute. Attributes are often omitted as they can clutter up a diagram; other diagram techniques often list entity attributes within the rectangles drawn for entity sets. In other words, the representation of a fluid gender conscious demonstrates the chicanoismo ideology of a new ethnically blended identity to a gender blended identity which contests the attachment of roles on both a gender conscious, an ethnic conscious and the majority world culture. The Mexican American community supports the subservient female role in society portraying them as docile, reliant and obedient to their male accompaniment. The domestic household utility of Mexican American woman is symbolized in a variety of household objects including attire that capitulate their gender representation. For example, as a child, Ermila recognizes her grandmother and female compassion by her apron, an article of clothing symbolizing servitude.
