I Ready For A Leader
Am I ready to be a Leader?
To me this topic is like double edge sword because I am currently in a couple of leadership roles. My
hope would be that, yes, I am ready. What I have learned in my different roles and what the articles
describe; there are different categories related to leadership. There are managers and there are leaders.
There are different positions that are just managerial, some that require you to be a manager and a
leader and some that are only leader positions. I think the higher up the ladder in a company or
corporation you go the more likely you are to be in the leader role. I think front line or middle
management positions are usually a manager/leader combination.
I feel that my skills are stronger in management and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A leader is able to adapt and embrace change. They walk the talk, they have a vision that others want
to help achieve. Individuals have the desire to be better when they work with a good leader.
I believe that leadership is different depending on what the situation is. Being in a leadership position
with my church and on a community council means I work with an organizations of volunteers .
Everyone is usually willing to perform different duties or assignments, but if they don t take it
seriously and they lack commitment, you can t do a disciplinary action or fire them. You have to be
ready to pick up any slack and complete the assignments. It is still important to have a vision and lead
you team to achieve what that vision is. You need to utilize the strength of each member and to
become a strong team.
As leader in a work environment you have the responsibility to make sure that all employees are
meeting or exceeding their job requirements. You should be developing and helping each employee to
grow, advance and feel valued. You have actions plans to help improve performance and hold them
accountable for their actions.
As a leader for a financial institution; we ve had a couple of guest speakers that talked about
emotional intelligence so I really appreciated the article and the importance that it put on those
components. For me it was very helpful as I thought about Am I ready to be a Leader to do a self
evaluation using these five areas.

My Last Duchess And Arnold Diction
Through the use of diction, poets Robert Browning, Matthew Arnold, and John Donne characterize the
speaker and, in one case, the person to whom the speaker addresses. In My Last Duchess and Dover
Beach, Browning and Arnold depict the nature of their speakers. While Browning exposes the Duke as
pompous and controlling, Arnold portrays his speaker as pessimistic. Donne s A Valediction:
Forbidding Mourning also characterizes the speaker and his wife as having an emotional love. These
characterizations help the poets to create a story involving multiple characters, although only one
character speaks. Therefore, they use diction to tell a story from a single point of view.
Browning utilizes certain diction in the Duke s dialogue to characterize ... Show more content on

Additionally, the speaker explains to his wife that, although he must leave, their love will endure not
yet / A breach, but an expansion, / Like gold to airy thinness beat, implying that their love is as fine as
gold because it is just as malleable (22 24). This conceit also shows that the connection between the
two will stretch until they are together again. Through diction, Donne creates metaphor and conceit so
as to characterize the speaker and his wife as having an emotional love. As such, the speaker illustrates
what he predicts their separation will be like in narrating how they are to act when separated .
Therefore, Donne s Dover Beach depicts emotional story of the separation that the speaker and his

Analysis Of The Book Between The World And Me Essay
Monica Quilatan Professor Writing 37 ICS 249 9:00 to 10:50 26 October 2015 The US is appealing in
the eyes of other countries, and even ourselves, because of the free and equal characteristics we claim
ourselves to have, such as: freedom of religion, freedom to own private property, and freedom of equal
justice. However, in the eyes of an African America, Atlantic Monthly Journalist, we see that all of
these freedoms find a loophole when it comes to the black community. In Ta Nehisi Coates book
Between the World and Me, he writes from a political, yet deeply personal standpoint to analyze today

view. His book is devoted to his fifteen year old son, Samori, and provides him with guidance through
the struggle of racism; all while letting Samori fend for himself. Coates lets his son know all this

The Fujiwara s Influence On The Imperial Family
The Fujiwara clan was founded in the 7th century by Nakatomi no Kamatari during the Heian period.
Later Kamatari conspired with Prince Naka No Oe to take down the Soga clan, one of the most
powerful clans of the Asuka period of the early Japanese state, and to destroy the Soga s influence on
the imperial family (Rhee 3). The Soga s fell out of power and the prince, after being coronated,
granted Katamari a high position in the imperial court; after that their clan name was Fujiwara. The
Fujiwara is one of the four great clans that now dominated the Heian politics, along with the
Mimamoto, the Taira, and the Tachinana (Rhee 5). The Fujiwara reigned prosperously and exceeded in
gaining vast political power through marriage politics. For over three centuries the family claimed
their influence through regents to the emperor but have not reclaimed power since they failed to
prevent Emperor Go Sanjo, the first emperor to not be born from a Fujiwara mother, from ascending
the throne in 1068. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

WWII Allied Forces Looked to Win the War with Operation...
Introduction
17 September 1944, Allied forces looking for a means to win the war by the end of the year, launched
the biggest air and ground offensive in the history of warfare.1 Allied commanders had to find a way
to break through the Siegfried Line. The Siegfried Line was the western defensive line into Germany
extending north from the border of Switzerland to the Ruhr area of Germany. Instead of trying to
break through the line, they decided to move north through Holland.
21st Army Group included 1st Allied Airborne Army and 2nd British Army. 1st Allied Airborne Army

Eisenhower to present his plan. Although this plan met resistance among several other Allied
commanders, Eisenhower approved the mission. The first planning meeting took place that same
evening for Operation Market.
Planning/Preparation
Due to the shortened timeline, the Allies had to act fast if they were going to capitalize on the
momentum gained thus far. From conception to initiation, planning time for Operation Market Garden
was one week. Compared to the months spent planning the airborne invasion of Normandy, Operation
Market Garden s short planning timeline raised doubt and concern among all participants. Most of
which, were concerns over the sheer size of the operation and the fact that it was created with such a
short planning cycle. Another major concern was due to a lack of night illumination, the airborne drop
would be made during the day deep behind enemy lines. As well as, overall mission success would
depend greatly on favorable weather. An uncontrollable factor with a immense impact on the mission.
Deployment
This operation consisted of two separate missions. Operation Market, the airborne assault targeted key
bridges and terrain in the vicinity of four cities. The 101st would be responsible for securing
approximately fifteen miles of the corridor, including the city of Eindhoven and bridges at Zon, St.
Oedenrode, and Veghel. The 82d Airborne Division was to drop in the middle to

I Know You Love Me-Now Let Me Die By Louis M. Profeta...
Many families are willing to do anything to save their loved ones. In the article I Know You Love Me
Now Let Me Die by Louis M. Profeta, the author mentions a time when people died in places with
happy memories that were forgotten once technology began to develop. Because dying in a familiar
environment was the old way of letting a beloved person pass, Profeta uses circular structure to
explore how every family wants to preserve their loved one s life even if the person wants to die.
Some families were able to let their special ones pass with the last days [s]pent with familiar sounds,
in a familiar room, with familiar smells, that gave her a final chance to summon memories that will
help carry her away (Profeta). In the past, the passing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses circular structure to state how people died before to display the importance of the last
phrase in an argument. As a result, many would see how their beloved ones would want to stay in a
comfortable place to leave with happy memories rather than trying to give their families false hope.
Additionally, instead of trying to come up with more ways to save a life of a person that wants to rest
in peace, the doctors and families chose to do what they should instead of what they could and with
that we will close our eyes to familiar sounds in a familiar room, a fleeting smile and a final soft
squeeze of a familiar hand (Profeta). Technology is often thought as something that can be used for
everything but when some can not depend on it anymore, many will become aware of their
surroundings. Families will see how they were not aware of how their loved ones felt when they had
no hope of surviving. Those that have not lived their lives to the fullest would think that any dying
person would want to be given a chance to live longer although the elderly person realizes that it is
their time to leave this

England in 1888 with malign killings and haunting letters that would last for years to come. He was a

The Merchant Of Venice By Michael Radford
The Merchant of Venice has never been Hollywood s favorite Shakespeare play. With deep
homoerotic and anti Semitic undertones, the closest thing we ve had to a mainstream version of the
movie was a parody on The Critic called The Merchant of Venice Beach starring Keanu Reeves. Other
than that, the story of the Jew moneylender Shylock and the comic relief relationship between
Bassanio and the cross dressing Portia hasn t hit the silver screen since the silent film days. Films are
hard to make when it comes to adapting from a play that was written nearly four hundred years ago.
Over the past four centuries, there have been many different interpretations of The Merchant of
Venice, hence the film version by Michael Radford. Radford s version of the play catches the tone of
the play but not every scene was transferred to script form, then into the film. It is not all great, but it
does successfully create a friendly of a very daunting play to adapt. I think one of the most crucial
decisions any director for this play has to make is to decide how to present Shylock. If you have ever
heard the term Shylock as a negative term for a Jewish person or slang for a loan shark, then this play
is where it comes from. William Shakespeare wrote this around the sixteenth century which was a
difficult place for any Jewish person to live in. From what I have gathered from reading the play and
watching the movie, the people of Venice despise Jews. They ridicule them,

Whose Revelation? What is the Revelation? What do the girls learn?
Book two is entitled The Revelation and the girls sections is entitled The Things We Learned. The
Revelation was intended to mainly the Price family, excluding the father. The theme revelation has
another definition: apocalypse. In the bible, the apocalypse leads to destruction and demise right
before when God makes it a better place. In connection to the book, at this time the new prime
minister, Patrice Lumumba was elected. This election set the stage for the independence movement in
the Congo. In addition, Methuselah (the parrot) passes away as soon as he is freed, after being banned
from liberation for most of his life. This foretells the destiny of Congo and the delicate independence
they acquired. The Book of Revelation explains about how God s creation encountered savagery and
anguish so that it will become altered. The Belgian doctor who treats Ruth May for her broken arm
has a little conflict with the Reverend. He prophesies that Congo will experience savagery and anguish
if it changes to a self determining state from a colony. In the Revelation section of the story, all the
members of the Price family come to face a new sense of comprehension about the Congo s culture,
plants, animals and tradition. Throughout the book, the characters go through many hardships and
success which permits them to learn

Moral Dilemmas In Remember The Titans
Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral
dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language
and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and
ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin,
2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing
the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen Howard,
they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the audience s

He seems to want the audience to respond with shock and sympathy as they witness how vile the
black people are treated. One of the few racism dilemma s is shown after Gerry, Alan and Ray are

black people fighting back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination, snarling, Hell why don t
you just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them black animals. This scene was
very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst
reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated poorly and erratically. After Gerry s
disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral dilemma of selfishness. Boone has
always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself, but for the team, however after the
accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about what he wants. When he suggests that
the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes so that they can win, Yoast feels that

Answering Cheevers Questions
Answering Cheevers question, Is College worth the money? is complicated for me for multiple
reasons. College in this state is ridiculous for a number of reasons. Actually, college in America
overall is a huge joke. The expense for school in itself is completely outrageous, that s even before
you add in all the housing, tax, books and other random extra fees. College for most can put an
individual into debt before you even finish your first semester. The fact that you have to take a
required class and be present, but then only to go home to self teach yourself, so that you can actually
understand and learn the material to pass. The amount of money that our parents and students dish out
each year to fund our college tuition is insane, sadly.

Essay on Caffeine Effects In The Brain
Caffeine Effects In The Brain
Caffeine acts in a multitude of ways in the brain. The most recent studies explore the cooperative
effects of adenosine and dopamine, as well as the increase in calcium in the interstitial fluid and
possible accumulation of cyclic adenosine monophospate. The most popular discussions of earlier
studies of caffeine demonstrate its antagonistic effects on adenosine receptors. While it has been
reported that adenosine receptors are located throughout the brain, the various subtypes can be found
in very specific areas.
Studies have also shown that caffeine reactions in the brain are based on the localization of adenosine
receptors, dopamine receptors, and the amount of caffeine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(Garrett, 1997; Myers, 1999) According to the
Pacific Nueropsychiatric Institute caffeine inhibits phosphodiesterase breakdown of cyclie 3 , 5
adenosine monophosphate. (Pharmacology, caffeine, 2) Again, this occurs only in large quantities that
have yet to be naturally found in vivo. (Myers, 1999) Keep in mind that if cyclic AMP had a greater
than normal concentration in the synaptic cleft, it would continue to breakdown adenosine which has a
depressant effect on functions in the brain. For example, adenosine in the central nervous system
inhibits neurotransmitter release and depresses locomotor activity, however with higher concentrations
of cyclic AMP there is less adenosine so, the effects on the biology of the brain are an enhanced
neurotransmitter release, and stimulated locomotor activity (Garrett, 1997). Another way caffeine acts
on the brain is indirectly through the dopamine receptors. As stated by Garrett and
Griffiths (1997), Although caffeine does not bind directly to dopamine receptors a number of
conflicting reports suggest that caffeine can either decrease or increase dopamine release (p.535). For
example, Caffeine significantly decreases dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) levels in the striatum,
hypothalamus, and frontal cortex, but increases DOPAC levels in the nucleus accumbens
(p.535).
Caffeine also is responsible for significant

Essay on Aztec and Inca Religious Zeal
Aztec and Inca Religious Zeal
The Aztec and Inca peoples lived in militaristic and expansionist societies whose ideals were fueled by
their religious convictions. Expansionism was necessary for both societies to support their religious
beliefs. The religious zeal of these two civilizations became something that the leaders of the empires
could not control. These empires were built through ideologically driven conquests, which became the
cornerstones of their societies and something beyond the control of the rulers. Every imperialistic
nation has a motive for expansion. Military, materialism, and missionary are three of the biggest
motives foe expansion that imperialistic countries use to expand their borders. Conquests ... Show

This required the Mexicas to go out and make war with their neighbors and then ruthlessly take
prisoners of war for later sacrifice. It was believed that the strength from the sacrificed captives souls
would strengthen the sun in its ongoing battle with the forces of darkness (Conrad, 38). This need for
the sun to constantly be appeased set the Mexica people out on divine missions for sacrificial bodies
that took the form of imperial conquests. Mexica rulers flooded their lands with propaganda that
promoted their imperialistic religion. Most of the Aztec s art and literature was made up of this
propaganda, which created this religious fervor among the people that grew beyond the control of the
ruling elites. Oral literature, monumental art, written codices, and public and private ceremonies
instilled and continually reinforced belief in the divine struggle and the unceasing need for sacrificial
victims (Conrad, 51). Furthermore, religious zeal was strengthened by the guarantee that immortality
would be granted to warriors who died in the divine quest and increased social standing awaited those
who faired well in wars (Conrad, 52). The Aztec empire was conquering new lands but not staying to
govern them. Moctezuma II inherited not only a tradition of glorious military achievement but also its
product: a far flung, loosely organized, and totally unstable imperial hegemony (Conrad, 60).

Vedic And The Vedic Period
The Vedic period lasted from c. 1750 to 500 BCE. The Vedic texts were arranged when the Indo
Aryans started to inhabit the Ganges plain. With this new settlement, it transitioned to an agricultural
society, and in the need for organization the society created a hierarchical government. The society
had to include older habitants of the Ganges plain, and incorporated them under the Aryan varnas.
They also had to appoint political and religious authority to the Brahmins and Kshatriyas. The Vedas,
also called Śruti, center on the worship of the elements like fire and rivers, worship of heroic gods like
Indra, Varuna and Agni, chanting of hymns and performance of sacrifices. God Indra became the
central deity of the developing Old Indic culture. The philosophy of Vedanta transformed the Vedic
worldview to monistic one. This led to the development of tantric metaphysics and gave rise to new
forms of yoga, such as jnana yoga and bhankti yoga. People prayed for abundance of children, rain,
cattle (wealth), long life and an afterlife in the heavenly world of the ancestors. This mode of worship
has been preserved since then in Hinduism. However, the primacy of Vedic deities has been seconded
to the deities of Puranic literature. According to Muesse, some of the fundamental concepts like
karma, reincarnation and personal enlightenment and transformation did not exist in the Vedic
religion. Brahman is a very specific conception of the Absolute in Vedas. Brahman is neither

And the unit Sales of product 102 for period from January to June 2005 increased about 200,000 units

Improving Airport Security
How can airport security be more advance and safe around the world? Airport security attempts to
prevent any threats or potentially dangerous situations from arising or entering the country. If airport
security does succeed in this, then the chances of any dangerous situations, illegal items or threats
entering into aircraft, country or airport are greatly reduced. As such, airport security serves several
purposes: To protect the airport and country from any threatening events, to reassure the traveling
public that they are safe and to protect the country and their people. There are many ways to improve
airport security, but it will take a lot to do so. One way is hiring and training TSA different. The way

Beginning in December 1972, the Federal Aviation Administration required airlines to scan all
passengers with metal detectors in an attempt to stop hijackers from carrying concealed guns and other
weapons onto flights. Aside from x ray screenings of baggage and metal detector screening of
passengers, TSA officers are empowered to perform pat down screenings and baggage searches for
any passenger that they feel requires additional screening. If the owners bag is locked TSA can cut or
break the lock if the owner is unwilling to open it can open it. In addition to TSA screening measures,
airlines are still responsible for checking passenger information against government issued watch lists
intended to flag potentially dangerous travelers. Just fifteen years ago on September 11, 2001 four
U.S. planes were hijacked. Two of the hijacked planes crashed in the world trade center, while another
one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, and the other one crashed into the Pentagon. Airport security is
a really big problem in the world. Almost three thousand people were killed on that day. That was one
of the saddest days in America, but it also made the country stronger and realizes that airport security
is a major thing that needs to be addressed. Hijacking started in about 1933 and is still going on to this
day. In 1933 a U.S.

Airport Security of Travellers
The most important security measure at an airport is to confirm the identity of travellers. This is done
by checking a photo ID such as driving license. The passengers who are travelling internationally need
to have passport.
Just glancing at a photo ID is not enough, however. The hi tech fashion in airport security today is
biometrics. Biometrics includes checking fingerprints, retinal scans and facial patterns using complex
computer systems to determine whether someone is what they say are or if they match a list of people
the government has determined may be potential terrorists.
The PA system at an airport played an automated message saying they do not leave your luggage
unattended. And check in ask some questions:
Did someone else pack your luggage?
have your luggage in your possession at all times.
Have you given anything or asked you to continue or see anything for them?
You are carrying flammable objects
These are very important questions. A tactic sometimes used by terrorists is to hide a bomb in the
luggage of an unsuspecting person. Another tactic is to give something, maybe a toy or stuffed animal,
someone who is about to board a plane. That seemingly innocent object can be a bomb or other
harmful device.

All passengers must keep track of their belongings as they go through the selection process. It is
suggested that valuables such as wallets, passports, jewellery and cameras are placed in hand luggage

Rion Amalcar Scott s The Etiquette Of Police Brutality
Patrick and Hall in In Defense of Self and Others write, If effective law enforcement is to be
maintained, the race must not be to the swift. The fleeing criminal, regardless of his offense, must be
considered the author of his own misfortune. Policemen only use force in response to the situation
they are in. Day to day Police men and women have to make difficult choices. The decisions they
make often lead to controversy. Two sides are then created. On one side, there are people that believe
police are bullies that do as they wish; the other side believes officers act as they see fit and do the
best they can to keep the public out of harm s way. The Etiquette of Police Brutality by Rion Amalcar
Scott represents the first view and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also starts with how he read about cases of police brutality that mostly involved Black and Brown
suspects. This informative piece s purpose is to show how police officers continue to use excessive
force without consequences. With the recent number of police shootings involving black Americans,
Scott sees police as bullies that do whatever necessary to get their way, so he uses the text to show
them in that light. The few statistics that Scott uses are from credible sources, but the rest of the
writing is purely anecdotal. He relies almost entirely on emotional appeals. In many of the above
cases, such as the Chamberlain case, police were cleared of any wrongdoing or faced relatively light
or unspecified punishments, a situation that I imagine leaves police feeling comfortable in deploying
any act of violence in their toolbox, no matter how reckless, if it leaves them standing when all the
smoke from the gunfire has cleared. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when
a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set
up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal
experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, Scott s writing does do a good job in showing
officers in a completely different light than how Bolgiano portrays them. When assessing a law
enforcement officer s use of

Marriage and Individuality
God created marriage as a union between man and woman. A woman, while still having a mind of her
own and control over her own life, is under the authority of her husband. This frightens some women,
who fear oppression at the hands of their husbands. While it is true that some men abuse the system
that God set up for man and woman, not all men act as such. The Bible states monogamy is what God
laid down as a foundational law of marriage,
[...the Creator made them male and female...] For this reason a man will leave his father and mother
and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh ? So they are no longer two, but one
flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mathew 19.5 6).

Harriet finds Phoebe, an old friend from her years in college, interesting, because her marriage is like
a dream. She has not changed a bit, and although she has children, she and her husband continue to go

are not very successful parents, Phoebe s marriage is one of the success stories that begin to change
Harriet s mindset about the concept of marriage from it being repulsive to it being something
desirable. Marriage is works through compromise between the husband and wife; a woman who does
not wish to be a housewife, but prefers to work can discuss her feelings with her husband in order to
generate a resolution that leaves both the adults and the children happy with the result.
Marriage is a union of two people, melding their old lives with their new one. Mark and Jane insist on

The Conflicts Between Good and Evil Found in To Kill and Mockingbird by Harper Lee
In her book, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses many different characters and parts of the plot to
show how deeply the conflict between good and evil can affect everyday life in a small Alabama town
in the 1930 s. The setting of her book is Maycomb, Alabama. Racism between white and black people
was a very big problem in Maycomb. The white people did not like the blacks and thought they were
bad people. The two main characters are Atticus Finch and Tom Robinson. Atticus is an important
lawyer, and he has two children, Scout and Jem. The conflict of racism explodes when Tom is set up

At first, the Sheriff acted like most of the people in the town, even though his conscience started to
bother him.
At the end of the book, Bob Ewell tried to hurt Scout and Jem in the forest because he wanted revenge
on Atticus. During Tom s trial, Atticus made Bob Ewell very angry at the questions he asked and the
evidence and Bob Ewell wanted revenge. Boo Radcliff killed Bob Ewell and the Sheriff saw it, but he
changed the story to say that it was an accident because he knew Bob Ewell was evil and that Boo was
a good man. The Sheriff s decision was another reminder about the titled of the book, To Kill a
Mockingbird because Boo was a Mockingbird character just like Tom.
Harper Lee also showed a conflict between good and evil by using the characters in her story. She
showed the conflict inside a man s own conscience when Atticus had the courage to stand up for Tom.
The Sheriff also had goodness in his heart when he decided to not tell anyone what he really saw when
the Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell. Another example of conflict within Atticus heart was his fear for his

Promoting Judo to Tier A Elite Sport in Hong Kong Essay

It clearly validates that elitism is not contradictory to popularization and windsurfing is a favourable
demonstration of the above. After the victory of Lee Lai Shan at the 1996 Atlanta Centennial
Olympics, Hong Kong government invested a considerable amount of resources in windsurfing. Judo
can absolutely follow the track of windsurfing since some marvellous Judo players are performing
outstandingly in the international competitions; for example, YU Kin Ting captured a gold medal in
Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games. Promoting judo to Tier A, therefore, helps the promotion of Judo
in the community in fact, which simultaneously indicates that the elevation of Judo is an essential and
compulsory element in the process of popularization and the road of Judo for all .
Judo, in alternative vision, is a special sport that highly emphasizing the moral spirit in respond to the
argument that Judo, as a physical activity, should focus more on the other aspects brought on by
sports, such as, health status enhancement, socio cultural issues, including globalization and
institutionalization of judo, rather than trophies and winning. One can argue that judo elitism alone is
a catalyst of all the issues mentioned above, which is even more effective than other sport events.

Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles
Mel Brooks satirical western comedy Blazing Saddles is the movie that changes a genre, by heavily

ultimately saving the day. A wealthy white man wants to grab a spot of land to build his railroad
through, however there is a town in the way. He sets forth to taking the town until two unlikely heroes
come to the rescue and wittingly save the day. Ultimately throughout the plot there are hilarious
commentaries on things that just don t make sense. The black slaves are always happy and cracking

The movie starts with a very serious and solemn Western song, typical of the era. Almost immediately
following is the nigger work song, which starkly contrasts and sets the tone for the movie. Ultimately,
even after the movie reaches its resolution and we learn that it is on a Hollywood set, the score still
remains Western aside from the movie premier sound effects. Another thing that didn t necessarily
make sense was the cowboy saving the day. Typically, as we have seen through Buffalo Bill namely,
the cowboy swoops in, shoots the bad guy, gets the girl, and uses his strength to ride off on his trusty
stallion. Here Bart concocts a rather intelligent plan, rallies the townsfolk to execute the plan together,
and doesn t really get the girl. (Truly he got the girl a few minutes earlier in the movie but that is an
entirely different can of worms). The movie as a whole, understandably, just doesn t fit in with my
idea of the Wild West. As a comedy, and a hilarious one at that, it just doesn t keep any sense of
realism. As Seth Macfarlane notes in his movie A Million Ways to Die in the West, the West is a

Narrative Essay About My Guinea Pig
Christmas break was finally over, so it was time to return to the stressful world known as school. I
wanted to check on my guinea pig, Sparky, when I first woke up at six o clock a.m. to see how he was
doing. However, once I had lifted the small pink den that he slept under, I had discovered the ugly
truth. The guinea pig that I had adopted from PetSmart nearly two weeks ago lay there unmoving,
motionless. I had tried picking him up to put him in his small carrier, but he was very stiff and heavy,
so I decided to leave him until my parents had found out. He s really dead, isn t he? I thought to

As the industries slowed and plantations lost money they were desperate for new tactics and
inventions so, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. The cotton gin was invented in 1807. Eli had
applied for a patent in October of 1793 but wasn t granted until March of 1794. The cotton gin had
been invented but, was not validated for use until 1807. The invention caused a huge spike in the slave
industry because now the sorting process was expedited and much more efficient. This caused owners
to buy or trade more slaves, they needed more to pick and more to crank the cotton gin. Thought the
gin was efficient, it was very dangerous. For example, in Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird , Tom
Robinson did not have a left hand because it had gotten caught in a cotton gin and brutally tore his
hand apart. The cotton gin was a success for the owners but, a dangerous job for the slaves. Following
the invention of the cotton gin was the Civil War. The cotton gin, along with many other factors, led

there were a lack of people willing and some were forced. However, there were those who volunteered

Introduction
Missionary expansion throughout the centuries has taken a hard, often violent road. The expansion of
Christianity begins with the adherents of Jesus Christ and ended with the premature demise of many
of the disciples. In the centuries following the disciples, many missionaries were faced with
percussion and death as the gospel was proclaimed. As missionary expansion occurs throughout the
centuries, often times facing trial and difficulty, the question comes up; is the capital cost of
missionary expansion worth the monetary value? This paper will highlight many trials that have been
faced by three missionaries in particular and explain often by the words of these missionaries why the
enormous cost of missionary expansion is worth the cost. The thesis of this paper is: everyone is
called to preach the gospel; the calling of the missionary is called to live by faith even when facing
difficulty.

during its theatrical release, four out of 10 make money during their full life cycle. Glickman cited
long term trends, though, to buttress his contention that the industry remains on solid ground. Over the
past five years, he noted, boxoffice has climbed more than $1 billion. And though individual
admissions have been down the past two years, they have risen 20% an average of 2% a year over the

Why The Penny Should Be Abolished Essay
A penny saved is a penny earned, to quote Benjamin Franklin. Unfortunately a penny saved is not
worth a whole lot anymore. Like many other once useful things the penny has become obsolete. The
production and use of the penny in the United States monetary system should be abolished.
Eliminating the penny would not be the first time the U.S. has abolished a small denomination. For
example the half cent coin was eliminated in 1857 with little to no trouble. This was due to the half
cent s production cost exceeding its face value similar to the penny right now. Also the half cent was

Penny candy and similar selling strategies or products do not exist anymore. Not to mention what used
to be worth one cent forty five years ago costs ten cents today. Over time the value of the penny has
depreciated with inflation rendering them useless. Furthermore, since the penny cannot function on its
own in a purchase the production of the penny is pointless.
A third reason why the penny should be abolished is because it is a time waster. When making a
purchase and an annoying penny is needed, precious seconds are wasted digging in pockets or purses.
In a culture where time is money, why is an annoyance like the penny still used. The penny is a
timewaster and its use and production should be halted immediately.
Finally a fourth reason why the penny should be abolished is because its production cost exceeds its
face value. The U.S. Mint is losing money, as it costs 1.5 cents to manufacture a one cent penny. This
results in the U.S. Mint losing millions of dollars per year. For example, in 2016, the U.S. Mint lost
$46 million dollars by producing pennies. This makes no sense logically. Why would you manufacture
a product that you can not make a profit

Enter Hypocrites, Phone Geeks
Prelude...
Ever since a young age, I have been astounded by the lack of sincerity and common since that others
lack. With technology growing rapidly each day, people have evolved into lazy, ignorant, lackadaisical
human beings. As I have grown into a young adult in modern society, I have experienced multiple
events that have made me want to pull my hair out. It doesn t take much to get under my skin, but
some of these events are excruciating and would annoy any other person with a common since.
Hypocrites, phone geeks, and other persons are what annoy me worse. I have always wondered how
somebody can act in such of these ways without receiving any kind of punishment or ill treatment. It
wasn t long until all of these questions I had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt the wind rapidly pick up and I felt the temperature go up vastly as we approached the final gate.
Enter Hypocrites. This sign said. My body began to fuel with hatred and numerous emotions. There is
nothing on this life I despise more then people who do what they say they are against. As we entered
the final gate, I was highly amused at what was before me. The people in this circle had the body of a
bull, and a human head with their mouths sewn shut. They galloped around in a pit with very little
space and they were covered in feces. I figured the mouths were seen shut because of how these
people wasted their words and lied all throughout their lives. They had the body of a bull, well,
because they were full of bull shit obviously. Of all of the famous people I witnessed in this circle,
none stuck out to me more than Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau s reputation is remembered as one
who was a great environmentalist in our world we live in, but down here it is a completely different
story. When he was alive, he criticized people were disrespecting nature. He once set fire to a forest,
nearly burning half of it down. To make matters worse, he worked in a pencil factory which required
logging and trees to be cut down. He also claimed to be a self reliant human being, where this was
completely false. He lived on land owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and his mother did his own
laundry. I was highly amused to see his bull shit finally come full

  • 2. I Ready For A Leader Am I ready to be a Leader? To me this topic is like double edge sword because I am currently in a couple of leadership roles. My hope would be that, yes, I am ready. What I have learned in my different roles and what the articles describe; there are different categories related to leadership. There are managers and there are leaders. There are different positions that are just managerial, some that require you to be a manager and a leader and some that are only leader positions. I think the higher up the ladder in a company or corporation you go the more likely you are to be in the leader role. I think front line or middle management positions are usually a manager/leader combination. I feel that my skills are stronger in management and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A leader is able to adapt and embrace change. They walk the talk, they have a vision that others want to help achieve. Individuals have the desire to be better when they work with a good leader. I believe that leadership is different depending on what the situation is. Being in a leadership position with my church and on a community council means I work with an organizations of volunteers . Everyone is usually willing to perform different duties or assignments, but if they don t take it seriously and they lack commitment, you can t do a disciplinary action or fire them. You have to be ready to pick up any slack and complete the assignments. It is still important to have a vision and lead you team to achieve what that vision is. You need to utilize the strength of each member and to become a strong team. As leader in a work environment you have the responsibility to make sure that all employees are meeting or exceeding their job requirements. You should be developing and helping each employee to grow, advance and feel valued. You have actions plans to help improve performance and hold them accountable for their actions. As a leader for a financial institution; we ve had a couple of guest speakers that talked about emotional intelligence so I really appreciated the article and the importance that it put on those components. For me it was very helpful as I thought about Am I ready to be a Leader to do a self evaluation using these five areas.  ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Last Duchess And Arnold Diction Through the use of diction, poets Robert Browning, Matthew Arnold, and John Donne characterize the speaker and, in one case, the person to whom the speaker addresses. In My Last Duchess and Dover Beach, Browning and Arnold depict the nature of their speakers. While Browning exposes the Duke as pompous and controlling, Arnold portrays his speaker as pessimistic. Donne s A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning also characterizes the speaker and his wife as having an emotional love. These characterizations help the poets to create a story involving multiple characters, although only one character speaks. Therefore, they use diction to tell a story from a single point of view. Browning utilizes certain diction in the Duke s dialogue to characterize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the speaker explains to his wife that, although he must leave, their love will endure not yet / A breach, but an expansion, / Like gold to airy thinness beat, implying that their love is as fine as gold because it is just as malleable (22 24). This conceit also shows that the connection between the two will stretch until they are together again. Through diction, Donne creates metaphor and conceit so as to characterize the speaker and his wife as having an emotional love. As such, the speaker illustrates what he predicts their separation will be like in narrating how they are to act when separated . Therefore, Donne s Dover Beach depicts emotional story of the separation that the speaker and his wife will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of The Book Between The World And Me Essay Monica Quilatan Professor Writing 37 ICS 249 9:00 to 10:50 26 October 2015 The US is appealing in the eyes of other countries, and even ourselves, because of the free and equal characteristics we claim ourselves to have, such as: freedom of religion, freedom to own private property, and freedom of equal justice. However, in the eyes of an African America, Atlantic Monthly Journalist, we see that all of these freedoms find a loophole when it comes to the black community. • 5. The Fujiwara s Influence On The Imperial Family The Fujiwara clan was founded in the 7th century by Nakatomi no Kamatari during the Heian period. Later Kamatari conspired with Prince Naka No Oe to take down the Soga clan, one of the most powerful clans of the Asuka period of the early Japanese state, and to destroy the Soga s influence on the imperial family (Rhee 3). The Soga s fell out of power and the prince, after being coronated, granted Katamari a high position in the imperial court; after that their clan name was Fujiwara. The Fujiwara is one of the four great clans that now dominated the Heian politics, along with the Mimamoto, the Taira, and the Tachinana (Rhee 5). The Fujiwara reigned prosperously and exceeded in gaining vast political power through marriage politics. From conception to initiation, planning time for Operation Market Garden was one week. Compared to the months spent planning the airborne invasion of Normandy, Operation Market Garden s short planning timeline raised doubt and concern among all participants. Most of which, were concerns over the sheer size of the operation and the fact that it was created with such a short planning cycle. With deep homoerotic and anti Semitic undertones, the closest thing we ve had to a mainstream version of the movie was a parody on The Critic called The Merchant of Venice Beach starring Keanu Reeves. Other than that, the story of the Jew moneylender Shylock and the comic relief relationship between Bassanio and the cross dressing Portia hasn t hit the silver screen since the silent film days. Films are hard to make when it comes to adapting from a play that was written nearly four hundred years ago. Over the past four centuries, there have been many different interpretations of The Merchant of Venice, hence the film version by Michael Radford. Radford s version of the play catches the tone of the play but not every scene was transferred to script form, then into the film. It is not all great, but it does successfully create a friendly of a very daunting play to adapt. I think one of the most crucial decisions any director for this play has to make is to decide how to present Shylock. If you have ever heard the term Shylock as a negative term for a Jewish person or slang for a loan shark, then this play is where it comes from. The most recent studies explore the cooperative effects of adenosine and dopamine, as well as the increase in calcium in the interstitial fluid and possible accumulation of cyclic adenosine monophospate. The most popular discussions of earlier studies of caffeine demonstrate its antagonistic effects on adenosine receptors. While it has been reported that adenosine receptors are located throughout the brain, the various subtypes can be found in very specific areas. Studies have also shown that caffeine reactions in the brain are based on the localization of adenosine receptors, dopamine receptors, and the amount of caffeine. ... (Garrett, 1997; Myers, 1999) According to the Pacific Nueropsychiatric Institute caffeine inhibits phosphodiesterase breakdown of cyclie 3 , 5 adenosine monophosphate. (Pharmacology, caffeine, 2) Again, this occurs only in large quantities that have yet to be naturally found in vivo. (Myers, 1999) Keep in mind that if cyclic AMP had a greater than normal concentration in the synaptic cleft, it would continue to breakdown adenosine which has a depressant effect on functions in the brain. For example, adenosine in the central nervous system inhibits neurotransmitter release and depresses locomotor activity, however with higher concentrations of cyclic AMP there is less adenosine so, the effects on the biology of the brain are an enhanced neurotransmitter release, and stimulated locomotor activity (Garrett, 1997). Another way caffeine acts on the brain is indirectly through the dopamine receptors. As stated by Garrett and Griffiths (1997), Although caffeine does not bind directly to dopamine receptors a number of conflicting reports suggest that caffeine can either decrease or increase dopamine release (p.535). For example, Caffeine significantly decreases dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) levels in the striatum, hypothalamus, and frontal cortex, but increases DOPAC levels in the nucleus accumbens (p.535). With this new settlement, it transitioned to an agricultural society, and in the need for organization the society created a hierarchical government. The society had to include older habitants of the Ganges plain, and incorporated them under the Aryan varnas. They also had to appoint political and religious authority to the Brahmins and Kshatriyas. The Vedas, also called Śruti, center on the worship of the elements like fire and rivers, worship of heroic gods like Indra, Varuna and Agni, chanting of hymns and performance of sacrifices. In many of the above cases, such as the Chamberlain case, police were cleared of any wrongdoing or faced relatively light or unspecified punishments, a situation that I imagine leaves police feeling comfortable in deploying any act of violence in their toolbox, no matter how reckless, if it leaves them standing when all the smoke from the gunfire has cleared. However, for much of the populace, that knot in their chests when a squad car sidles up next to them in traffic is the twinge of sheer terror. Scott does not do much to set up how credible he is in the text. Without using facts and evidence or speaking from personal experience, Scott s writing lacks ethos. However, Scott s writing does do a good job in showing officers in a completely different light than how Bolgiano portrays them. When assessing a law enforcement officer s use of ... • 27. Marriage and Individuality God created marriage as a union between man and woman. A woman, while still having a mind of her own and control over her own life, is under the authority of her husband. This frightens some women, who fear oppression at the hands of their husbands. While it is true that some men abuse the system that God set up for man and woman, not all men act as such. The Bible states monogamy is what God laid down as a foundational law of marriage, [...the Creator made them male and female...] For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mathew 19.5 6). Although many women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She has not changed a bit, and although she has children, she and her husband continue to go gallivanting about the world in search of adventure (Sayers, 14 15). Though Phoebe and her husband are not very successful parents, Phoebe s marriage is one of the success stories that begin to change Harriet s mindset about the concept of marriage from it being repulsive to it being something desirable. Marriage is works through compromise between the husband and wife; a woman who does not wish to be a housewife, but prefers to work can discuss her feelings with her husband in order to generate a resolution that leaves both the adults and the children happy with the result. Marriage is a union of two people, melding their old lives with their new one. Mark and Jane insist on maintaining entirely separate lives, which keeps their marriage from working (That Hideous Strength, 12). Lord and Lady Wimsey are able to live happily as a married couple because they communicate with one another (Talboys, 32). When a couple is united, they can combat any force that comes against them. The setting of her book is Maycomb, Alabama. Racism between white and black people was a very big problem in Maycomb. The white people did not like the blacks and thought they were bad people. Another thing that didn t necessarily make sense was the cowboy saving the day. Typically, as we have seen through Buffalo Bill namely, the cowboy swoops in, shoots the bad guy, gets the girl, and uses his strength to ride off on his trusty stallion. Here Bart concocts a rather intelligent plan, rallies the townsfolk to execute the plan together, and doesn t really get the girl. Like many other once useful things the penny has become obsolete. The production and use of the penny in the United States monetary system should be abolished. Eliminating the penny would not be the first time the U.S. has abolished a small denomination. For example the half cent coin was eliminated in 1857 with little to no trouble. This was due to the half cent s production cost exceeding its face value similar to the penny right now. When making a purchase and an annoying penny is needed, precious seconds are wasted digging in pockets or purses. In a culture where time is money, why is an annoyance like the penny still used. The penny is a timewaster and its use and production should be halted immediately. Finally a fourth reason why the penny should be abolished is because its production cost exceeds its face value. The U.S. Mint is losing money, as it costs 1.5 cents to manufacture a one cent penny. This results in the U.S. Mint losing millions of dollars per year.
