Successful companies must continue to meet the demands of revolving markets. Technology is
assisting companies grow at a rapid pace. Organization structures must be looked at and scrutinized

planned in order to minimize the stress on its employees. Several modern companies have come up
with creative ways to keep employee morale at a constant high level and compete with an ever so
demanding market.

The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross Essay
The Painted Door, by Sinclair Ross published in New York in 1941. Is isolation the enemy of our
improvement, or is our worst possible counselor? The letter i in illness is isolation, it is a feeling
through which a person feels and has thoughts about being rejected by others, which leads us to the
conclusion that being in that state of mind leads a person in the company of our worst enemy, the one
within ourselves. Being Isolated from John was the loneliness Ann had felt which made her feels like
it was forced upon her, like a punishment. Wisdom and Knowledge are related to the painted door as
Ann experiences loneliness and isolation from her husband John since he is occupied with work all
day. Pay no attention to me. Seven years a farmer s wife it s time was used to staying alone. John
leaves, trusting both Ann and Steven to have a friendly game of cards. When John returns he sees the
unexpected, he finds both Anna and Steven in bed, at the sight of that John rushes out and freezes
himself to death. Ann now will have to use her wisdom through her knowledge and experience to face
her, even more, loneliness and isolated future without john. Sinclair believes that Isolation will test
and perhaps divide relationships. We all have current times when things don t run the way we imagine
them to run, our relationships seem to break apart due to varies reason, it may be that we are distracted
by certain issues or that we have a conflicting expectation or that we just have

Dead Sea Srolls Study Guide
1. What are some methodological issues scholars encounter studying the Hebrew Bible and the
histories of ancient Israel?
There are so many different variations of the same text that the story cannot be aligned with assurance
for some scholars. There are different perspectives regarding the same stories in history, therefore they
have been separated into their own collections of literature; such as canonization and biblical text
recognized by different sects. Not all of the Hebrew Bible was written in Hebrew, in fact, some of the
scriptures were written in Aramaic. Scholars also run into the issue with sources by means of
interpretation and preservation. Primary sources like the Dead Sea Scrolls are easier to extract
information from rather than archeological artifacts that are likely to be open to interpretation.
2. What do multiple canons and collections of texts tell us about canonization? Why do scholars
consider canonization a process, not a moment? What is the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and
what do they tell us about textual traditions during the Second Temple period?
The canon books were prized text that was held in high regards to wisdom and history of the culture.
The content of these books was from the laws of Moses to the birth and death of humanity and all that
was in between, about a three thousand year timeframe. The preservation of these scriptures including
additions to, removal of, or any alterations to the text was guarded by the authors, even

Texas Supreme Court Case Analysis
Texas consists of three branches of government; the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. Texas
government is modeled very similarly to The United States three branches. Specifically within the
judicial branch, there is a Supreme Court, which is the highest federal court of The United States
[National]. There is also a Supreme Court in Texas; which is the highest court in the state. A 5 4
decision by The United States Supreme Court on June 26th, 2015 ended all state bans on same sex
marriage and requires all fifty states to recognize marriages legally performed in other states.
Immediately after this historic decision was made, in disobedience of the Supreme Court, Texas
attorney general said, that county clerks can refuse to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples if
they object on religious grounds. This was Texas initial reaction to the ruling. Former Texas Gov. Rick
Perry, a presidential contender, said he was disappointed with the ruling and as president, I would
appoint strict constitutional conservatives who will apply the law as written.
The issue here is that states such as Texas feel as if The Supreme court has ... Show more content on

Carpe Diem
Both, To the Virgins, To Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and A Psalm of Life , by Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow, conveys, through a persona, a matured perspective of Carpe Diem. Both poets
communicate their individual opinion, Longfellow s 19th century poem discusses the importance of
creating a legacy and leaving an impact on time, whereas Herrick s 17th century cavalier style poem
implies the significance of retaining the prime years of your life, and portrays the brevity of the life
cycle. These main aspects of Carpe Diem are expressed through various visual and auditory features to
manifest an idea to readers about how to seize the day.

Herrick discusses the inevitability of death but the tone maintains the positive and cheerful nature. The
tone promotes optimism to us readers and reflects how Herrick views life. Herrick uses alliteration
throughout the poem, such as in stanza 1 with same and smiles , or stanza 2 with higher and he s .
These examples of alliteration create focus on the importance of the ideas the poet presents on Carpe
Diem. The auditory features cooperate to communicate Herrick s main ideas on the notion of how to
seize the day.
In A Psalm of Life , Longfellow develops ideas on Carpe Diem through visual representations. The
poet, using a powerful extended metaphor in stanza 5, expresses life as a battle using striking visual
imagery with the phrase, In the world s broad field of battle . A military battle negatively connotes
hardship and unpredictability , reflecting the nature of suffering in life. The metaphor continues
throughout the stanza conveying to readers not to be dumb, driven cattle whereas to be a hero in the
strife! . This compelling idea supports the theme of creating a legacy and promotes being courageous.
Longfellow reinforces his agnostic ideas, which are disagreed with by Herrick, about religion several
times in the poem, suggesting religion holds people back from seizing the day. In stanza 6, the

was stunning inside. The conservatory is one of the best preserved in the UK. Glorious landscapes
designed by Capability Brown, this year we celebrate 300 years since his birth. Beautiful scenes

The garden has lots of colour; one of the many features is a lovely lake complete with white swans.
Many follies like the goat house, the duck house and a tea room. Most of the gardens have peacocks.
They paid a visit to the home of Gertrude Jekyll, for George s group this this was like a pilgrimage as
they were all very keen garden lovers. She is responsible for what we now call a cottage garden. Next
on the list was the magnificent Nymans Garden, George called it a cottage garden on steroids, this is
top of the list of gardens to visit in the UK. We saw Gravetye Manor, this is now a very exclusive
hotel and the garden has been transformed. On to Wisely garden on the outskirts of London and then
to magnificent Sissinghurst Castle, the third most visited garden in England. The roses which clad the
castle were in bloom and the aquilegias were huge. I must mention the spectacular carpets of bluebells
in many of these gardens, in some cases spectacular drifts to the water s edge. Many of these gardens

The Discovery Of The Pahlavi Dynasty
The 1979 uprisings were aimed at getting rid of the Pahlavi dynasty which contained only two kings,
Reza Shah and Mohammed Reza Shah. Before the Pahlavi s, Iran was ruled by the Qajar dynasty, and
before that the Safavids. The safavids and Qajar s were responsible for two of the most important
aspects of Iran: The safavids made Shia Islam the official state religion in Iran, starting with Ismail 1
in 1501, and the Qajar s gave the muslim clergy The ulema political power. The first major revolution
in Iran was in 1906. It forced the ruling Qajar s to accept a constitution, it created a parliament and put
some limits on the king. It ultimately failed party because the clergy withdrew their support, partly
because the Shah worked very actively against it, and the Russian and the British worked to keep
Persia weak so they could continue to try to dominate the region. After WW1, Europeans rivalries
heated up because of the discovery of oil in the Middle East. The British established Iranian Oil
company and they helped to engineer the change in dynasty by supporting military commander Reza
Khan. Later on Reza Khan became Shah and he attempted to turn Persia, which he re named Iran
1935, into a modern, secular, western style state. Reza Shah is remembered for his dictatorial
repression, which led the clergy against him. During WW2 Reza Shah abdicated and his young son
Mohammad Reza Shah became the leader of Iran until 1979. The Shah in 1979 was an autocrat and he

Soccer Injuries For Soccer
Introduction: Soccer is the most popular sport in the entire world. Soccer continues to emerge as a
major sport in countries like United States and even China, while it remains the fastest growing team
sport. The sport s characteristics and its required functional activities demand certain technical skills
and healthy physique from each player. As a result, there are disadvantages of playing the sport as
injuries and medical problems occur. Soccer injuries are a big factor of the sport, that is really
important to address. This report describes the most common types of injuries(Ankle sprains,
Hamstring, Knee), causes of injuries, effects of injuries and prevention/treatment of injuries for soccer.
Most common types of injuries: First, there are three most common types of soccer injuries, which are
ankle sprains, hamstring and muscle cramps. Ankle sprains are the most common injuries that occur in
the sport. This injury occurs when the foot suddenly twists or rolls, which then forces the ankle joint
to be out of its normal position. As a result, the ligaments around the ankle stretch or tear. The number
of ligaments torn or disrupted determines the degree of the injury. The more ligaments affected, the
worse the injury is. Syndesmosis, also known as high ankle injuries, usually occur as the player is
pushed backwardly on another player s planted foot. This type of injury usually needs 2 4 weeks of
recovery. In addition, when the deltoid ligament is affected in the

Renaissance Art in Fifteenth Century Italy
The renaissance era is the mark of the rebirth period. It s the beginning of the modern world and the

Introduction:
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a clinical radiological syndrome
characterized by a set of neurological symptoms including impaired consciousness, cognitive
disorders, seizures, visual disturbances which have been encountered in patients with eclampsia,
malignant hypertension and connective tissue disease etc. The symptoms are closely related to the
location of pathological changes in the brain; bilateral occipital parietal region is most often affected.
Both focal neurological symptoms and encephalopathy are usually transient 1. We present the case of

Humans will be pushed to a new future: obesity, lazy, careless, and an increasing in respiratory and

will turn into. The technology is pushing us into that type of world: the empty world full of garbage,
no trees, plants, animals, etc. There is rarely any life on earth. People are ignoring their surroundings,
going nowhere in life because they stopped for watching technology. They aren t creating any
memories and friends, not even caring about their emotional, mental, and physical health, even if they

Essay on Isaac Storm
Isaac Storm
On Friday evening, September 7, 1900, many of the 37,000 residents of Galveston, Texas, were
settling down to dinner, few if any of them concerned about the steady 15 mph northerly wind rattling
their windows. Within 48 hours, at least 8,000 of the townspeople would be dead, victims of the single
worst natural disaster in U.S. history. Relatively few people are aware that the deadliest natural
disaster in the United States was the hurricane that struck Galveston Island on September 8, 1900. One

to the Western Union office in Houston. At five o clock the anemometer recorded winds of 102 mph
before itself was carried away in a rush. Like that, the full fury of the storm was upon the island.
Waters from the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay quickly rose to meet each other, effectively
swallowing the island.
Throughout the night, the people of Galveston fought to survive. Buildings and homes began
collapsing; blowing debris killed or maimed many people who managed to remain above the rising
tide. Water poured through second story windows, forcing hundreds into the ocean where they were
drowned or killed by wind driven debris. The tide reached 15 feet with breakers more that 25 feet.
Many survivors, including Isaac, his three daughters and brother, spent the night clinging to the
remains of their homes.
By the morning, floodwaters had drained back into the sea. The corpses of people and animals lay
intermingled through out the island; some were struck down in the street by debris, while others were
crushed beneath their shelter or drowned. At least 6,000 to 7,000 Galveston resident were dead. Isaac
survived along with his 3 daughters and younger brother Joe, but Isaac s wife Cora did not survive.
Her body was found a few weeks later, identified by her engagement ring, which from then on Isaac

Point Of View In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow...
A story s point of view helps the reader get the writer s perspective. As such, one can determine the
truth about a character thus affecting their response to the character. It also influences the reader s
response based on what the narrator knows or their objective. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The
Yellow Wallpaper the point of view is in the first person. The narrator participates in the action of the
story. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, the writer uses the third person point of view and lets
the reader know how the character feel. As such, one learns about the characters through an outside
voice. As such, the narrative of any story is a crucial asset to help the reader get the point, theme, or
message of the material.

The viewpoint of this story is meant to create sympathy for Miss Emily regarding her obsession with
Homer, without condemning her.
The Yellow Wallpaper can also be tied to this theory since it spins an exciting tale of how a wife of a
doctor becomes guilt ridden with depressed after the birth of her child. As a result, her physician
husband decides to place her under homecare to help cure her of her disease (3). However, this only
serves to intensify her illness and put a damper on her marriage. The first person point of view in this
story helps one to catch a vision of what a suffering woman must endure. The first narrative also
influences the reader to be able to connect to the narrator in a humane way.
Further, the first person standpoint in this story provides the reader access only to the woman s
thoughts thus limiting the reader. However, the limited point of view in this story helps is crucial in
letting the reader get into the shoes of the wife and experience the feeling of isolation throughout the
story. The limitation of the viewpoint also involves narrating the story in the present, which prohibits
the main character from the benefit of hindsight

Contagious Nature Of Kind Acts
During the second week of the new year, Mrs. Thompson s language arts classes conducted an
experiment in order to demonstrate the contagious nature of kind acts. To accomplish this, they
received slips of paper from Mrs. Thompson that could be transferred to recipients of kind acts to be
redistributed. This produced a continuous cycle of kind acts that is still in effect, which provides the
world with an example of the contagious behavior of acts of kindness. Be kind whenever possible. It is
always possible. These are the words of the current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, a man who dedicated
his life to obtaining equality for the people of Tibet. Although impossible to impact the world in a
manner identical to that of the Dalai Lama, we possess the capability to alter it, nevertheless, by
performing seemingly insignificant acts of kindness. Completing tasks that may comprise of merely
retrieving a fellow student s fallen pencil can have profound effects on society, for these acts tend to
spread in a similar vein to contagions. Therefore, a single act of kindness may develop into thousands
of kind actions, which can form a superior town, city, country, and world. While not uncommon,
random acts of kindness do not occur as frequently as devastating events, so they tend to appear rarely

provided will show the difference in states that utilize capital punishment more than other states that
have not abolished the deterrence method. The second section will be discussing the retribution
relating to capital punishment. It also covers unanswered questions that relate to utilizing methods of
execution on innocent people. The last section covers the Eighth Amendment violation relating to
cruel and unusual punishment. It also discusses some of the botched executions that have been
conducted over the years.
Deterrence
Recent studies by sociologist suggest that capital punishment and/or the death penalty, does not deter
crimes such as murder . On the other hand, recent empirical studies conducted by economists suggest
that capital punishment does deter crimes such as murder

It s All True Analysis
The Bruce Conner: It s All True exhibition displayed at the Museum of Modern Art is comprised of
over 250 works. The massive exhibit is unique and gives the audience an array of oil paintings, film,
assemblage, and more. The title It s All True comes from a letter Conner wrote in 1999 where he
describes his work with over two dozen adjectives such as, beautiful, bewildering, horrible,
contemporary, masterpieces, etc. Confirming that anything people see or feel is the truth about his
work. As I examined each of Conner s pieces, I found that I asked the question, What was the
inspiration behind this work? Child and Couch were among many works that I found difficult to
appreciate. It resembled death and was uncomfortable to look at. Many of

Diesel Fuel Prices Trucking Industry Essay
The recent surge in the cost of heating oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline in the United States has had
significant impact on many sectors of the U.S. economy, but most importantly it has had quite a
devastating affect on the trucking industry. This is important due to the fact that nearly 70% of U.S.
communities rely solely on trucking for their supplies ( ATA 23). If the government continues it s trend
of non intervention and refuses to place pressure on OPEC, the prices will continue to soar well over
the two dollar mark, and cause the trucking industry as a whole to shut down bringing the U.S.
economy to a grinding halt.
What is the reason that gasoline and fuel prices are so high? Most people believe it is because of

4). A clear example of this can be seen by The Chrysler Corporation s sales of Dodge Ram pickup
trucks. Once the 11th best selling vehicle, it is now the 4th best seller; above the more fuel efficient
Ford Taurus and Honda Accord (Phillips 22).
The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and EIA (Energy Information Administration) both play
key roles in the types of fuel we can run in our cars and trucks and thus they indirectly play a role in
the overall price package that we consumers have to pay. When fuel arrives in the United States about
95% of it is in its natural state; that is crude oil. It is then pumped or shipped to refineries where
certain qualities are achieved such as diesel fuel, kerosene, gasoline, and heating oil. The EPA s role is
to regulate the amount of additives and other chemicals that are added to the fuels, which give them
certain cleansing and lubricating properties. An important and very controversial additive in diesel
fuel is sulphur.
All grades of diesel fuel, No.1 (kerosene), No.2 on road fuel, and No.3 off road fuel, have sulphur in
them to keep the engines burning clean and to allow the fuel to burn properly (diesel fuel is almost
non flammable in it s virgin state without additives). Sulphur however is a dangerous pollutant and has
very damaging affects on the ozone layer, thus it is the EPA s responsibility to step in and decide on

The evaluation of Wal mart in China in terms of PEST and SWOT models
Political factor
It s a trend that the Chinese government increasingly open market to foreign investors by reducing the
barriers of entry. Recently, the State Council of China has altered the foreign investment policies,
encouraged and supported the foreign investment on the service sector, especially the labour intensive
but environmental friendly business in low developed central or western China (Chen Liang, 2010).
The government has also permitted the foreign investors to set up partnership business with local
firms (Cao Tai, 2009) rather than formerly approved options of joint venture and wholly owned. On
the other hand, the current government and communist party are working to ease the social inequality.
The minimum wage and annual income protection have been approved and increased in China at
present (Wang et.al., 2009). Also, they have promoted the establishment of government led labour
union in major foreign business and expect to require all of them to set up in later (Kahn, 2006), which
aim to create official approved labour protection chapter and collective bargaining in foreign firms.
Economic factor
At present, the Chinese economy has partly recovered from previous strike of global economic crisis.
With sizable fiscal stimulus in public sector and release of massive lending in recent years,

Willy Loman, a salesman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman had the American dream which is

so that the audience can see themselves in him, and hero must have discovered his fate by his own
actions, not by things happening to him.
The first Aristotelian trait that represents Willy Loman is his arousal of empathy towards the audience.
Willy is can be seen as a relatable character for most men, which is why so many men wanted to play
his part. Willy symbolizes how a simple man living the wrong dream. Growing up Willy showed

Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis TertiusBy Jorge Luis Borges
Ana Bahena English 102D Izenberg November 2, 2017 Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Jorge Luis Borges
is widely known for his bizarre short stories that question all aspects of life and our world. Tlon,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is no different putting into question everything we believe to be true. Tlon,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a narrative account of an individual who has discovered the fictional land of
Uqbar in one of the version of an encyclopedia. Throughout the story, the man keeps investigating
more on this place and finds that its importance comes from Tlon, one of the subdivisions of Uqbar,
and its literature. Tlon is an ideal world, which the reader later finds out, created by a secret society,
Orbis Tertius and has been equipped with its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how many variations of Uqbar (Ukbar, Ucbar, Ookbar, Oukbahr) he searches for, he cannot
seem to find this place. In order to appease the narrator, Casares tells him that [Uqbar] was a region in
Iraq or Asia Minor (Borges 68). Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects
with so that the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although completely
doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes just to make sure that Uqbar is
not real, as he believes it to be. This part in the short story, although minute, is crucial because it
causes tension between that the narrator believes to be real and that which he doubts to be real. In this
same manner, the text itself is causing tension between what the reader knows to be real and what is
fiction. The reader assumes that what he/she is reading is fiction, but this comes in conflict with the
constant use of real works and people such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, the N.R.F, Bioy Casares,
Justus Perthes, and many others. The specificity of terms and names of real authors and theorists that
are fused into the work bring an apparent legitimacy to what is read. Yet, as the reader continues, the
story becomes seemingly false. The reader s experience is mirrored in the text as the narrator goes
through a similar development of realization regarding the encyclopedia entry on Uqbar. As

Visualizing Nutrition
Before I was able to describe the similarities and differences of the diets, I first needed to figure out
what exactly they were. The DASH eating plan as intentions to lower hypertension, USDA food
patterns were created for citizens to follow their dietary guidelines, and the Mediterranean diet is not a
diet, if is a lifestyle (Wiley, Visualizing Nutrition) that one will normally continue with. Some
similarities between the diets are that they all want you to intake the correct amount of food, no more
no less, and they all focus on very similar types of food. While reading our Visualizing nutrition book,
I learned that all of these eating styles they are all very nutrient dense styles of eating, including fish,

Some of these common claims say promise of fast weight loss quantities and imitations, promotes
specific food combinations, and no need to be physically active. (WordsonWellness). You never want
to all of the sudden and dramatically lose weight, it is far better to gradually lose weight. FAD diets
that avoid eating multiple food groups take away the vitamins that the human body needs to survive
and be healthy. FAD diets that tell you to eat at certain times are also incorrect, you should eat when
you feel hungry but only eat until you are satisfied and not full. Lastly, diets that say you do not need
any physical activity may be shedding weight off of your body, but you are not gaining muscle and
becoming stronger, in the long term you may even feel weaker. Many people who become apart of the
FAD diet community think that their health will improve, in some cases this is inaccurate. Based on
what I have learned in past nutrition classes and my own personal experience they can actually be very
bad for your health, not just the inside of your body, but the outside too. You may notice muscle and
even hair loss. I had a friend who started losing her hair when starting a very common FAD diet. You
will also notice deficiencies in your nutrition especially if you cut out carbs because they are the main
source of our energy.

Canon V. Canon s Strategic Perspective
During the 1960 s, when Canon directly challenged Xerox in the copier market, it is apparent that the
organisation used a range of competitive strategies to achieve surpassing success. Unlike Xerox,
Canon focused their attention on quality, reliability and serviceability from the outset. This
combination along with Canon s expertise, experience and knowledge of this industry, have allowed
them to successfully challenge and sustain their competitive position in the market.
Canon s strategic perspective was a strong mechanism for their sustained competitive advantage,
adopting an inside out approach. Canon s strategy was a product focus, whereby it deployed its

The development of the personal copier market for example, was based on an identified need in the
market, with a clear specification of the product that would meet customer requirements. Evaluating
the market and identifying a specific niche in the market to target was important for Canon, as they
needed to narrow their competition by offering an innovative product to establish themselves as a
pacesetter within the industry.
In the late 1960 s Canon initially adopted a business level strategic vision of focusing on the small
copier niche that was left underserved by the organisations rivals using an innovative technology that
was different from that of their competitors. Strategic planning at Canon fundamentally involved
identifying areas within the market that were not well served by existing members of the industry,
such as Xerox, and allocating resources to exploit this market opportunity. This aspect of their strategy
was an attempt to avoid competitive threats; this is reflected in Porters generic competitive strategies
model. The focus strategy involves a firm concentrating on particular niche markets and, by
understanding the dynamics of that market, developing uniquely low cost or well specified products
for that segment. According to the case study Canon independently developed a new technology for
copiers, unlike the technologies already existing in the market. This decision allowed Canon to

summer, and before the family would fly down south for the winter. The family wanted him to fly
before they left, so he practiced for a week trying to fly. The family prepared and eventually left to
South America. The family lived like they did for 4 months and flew back when they thought it was a
good time to go. The baby parrot was left behind. The parrot did not know what to do, so he went out
exploring for birds or at least someone he could talk to. After 10 minutes of looking, he found a whole
tree full of parrots like him. He thought he would talk to them but the other parrots did not know what

Rubella and Neonatal Effects Essay example
Rubella and Neonatal Effects Rubella is an essentially harmless disease that resembles measles,
however, it is highly teratogenic to a developing fetus. If a pregnant woman contracts rubella, the fetus
is at risk to develop Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) which can result in tissue and organ
damage. Proper nursing interventions and teaching should be done to prevent the spread of rubella and
to lower the rates of CRS.
A History and Epidemiology for Rubella
Until the 18th century, rubella was often confused with measles and scarlet fever. In 1952 and 1958,
two German scientist were able to isolate the rubella virus and it was given the name German Measles
until 1866 when a Scottish physician gave it the name Rubella (Duszack, ... Show more content on

After sixteen weeks of gestation, the risk of fetal death, malformation, and miscarriage is much less.
Since the effects of CRS vary with gestational age at the time of infection, accurate gestational dating
should be established, as it is critical to counseling (Dontigny, Arsenault, Martel, 2008, p. 155).
Consequences of Maternal Infection for Unborn Fetus
The rubella Virus is very teratogenic, and should a maternal infection occur, the developing fetus
might develop congenital rubella syndrome. As said earlier, amount of injury to the developing fetus is
highly dependent on what stage of development the fetus is in. The rubella virus targets all organs and
tissues of the body and has a wide range of effects.
Tests to determine Maternal and Fetal Infection
Tests can be done to determine maternal or fetal infection of the rubella virus. According to Dontigny
et al. (2008) if maternal infection is suspected, a serology test using enzyme linked immunoassay
(ELISA) is used to test for rubella specific IgM and IgG antibodies in maternal blood. A rise in rubella
IgG antibodies, a positive serologic test for IgM antobodies and a positive rubella culture are essential
to maternal diagnosis of infection (Dontigny et al., 2008). If maternal infection has been determined,
test to determine if the virus has spread to the fetus should be performed

The s First Modern Grocery Store
Moreover, on that bright June day the hurry and spring in the pretty redhead s step had a teeny bit to
do with what her best friend, Sylvia, had told her earlier that same morning: someone new had come
to town; a handsome, mysterious young man. All the harbor girls whispered in delight; gossiping,
speculating and wondering who would land the first date with this new guy. Rumors had it that he had
started work at the newly opened First National, the harbor s first modern grocery store. Oh sure, there
were fish markets and butcher shops and the likes, but mostly, folks had milk, cheese and butter
delivered, and the majority of women made their own bread and put up their own vegetables and
preserves. However, now with this new grocery store, their basics could all be purchased in one locale.
The young man that the girls were all buzzing about had only been in Cutler Harbor for two days or
so, no one had met him yet. It was Priscilla, who told Natalie; he lived in Damariscotta, some twenty
miles away (he did). Then Natalie told Sylvia that she heard he had a car (he did not). In conclusion,
Sylvia told Lelia he looked like a dreamboat, just like Clark Gable (he did). The person Lelia had
worn her hand sewn dress for, and couldn t wait to witness with her own eyes was Owen Isaac Bauer.

  • 5. Dead Sea Srolls Study Guide 1. What are some methodological issues scholars encounter studying the Hebrew Bible and the histories of ancient Israel? There are so many different variations of the same text that the story cannot be aligned with assurance for some scholars. There are different perspectives regarding the same stories in history, therefore they have been separated into their own collections of literature; such as canonization and biblical text recognized by different sects. Not all of the Hebrew Bible was written in Hebrew, in fact, some of the scriptures were written in Aramaic. Scholars also run into the issue with sources by means of interpretation and preservation. Herrick discusses the inevitability of death but the tone maintains the positive and cheerful nature. The tone promotes optimism to us readers and reflects how Herrick views life. Herrick uses alliteration throughout the poem, such as in stanza 1 with same and smiles , or stanza 2 with higher and he s . These examples of alliteration create focus on the importance of the ideas the poet presents on Carpe Diem. The auditory features cooperate to communicate Herrick s main ideas on the notion of how to seize the day. In A Psalm of Life , Longfellow develops ideas on Carpe Diem through visual representations. The poet, using a powerful extended metaphor in stanza 5, expresses life as a battle using striking visual imagery with the phrase, In the world s broad field of battle . A military battle negatively connotes hardship and unpredictability , reflecting the nature of suffering in life. The metaphor continues throughout the stanza conveying to readers not to be dumb, driven cattle whereas to be a hero in the strife! . This compelling idea supports the theme of creating a legacy and promotes being courageous. Longfellow reinforces his agnostic ideas, which are disagreed with by Herrick, about religion several times in the poem, suggesting religion holds people back from seizing the day. Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects with so that the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although completely doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes just to make sure that Uqbar is not real, as he believes it to be. The reader assumes that what he/she is reading is fiction, but this comes in conflict with the constant use of real works and people such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, the N.R.F, Bioy Casares, Justus Perthes, and many others. Since the effects of CRS vary with gestational age at the time of infection, accurate gestational dating should be established, as it is critical to counseling (Dontigny, Arsenault, Martel, 2008, p. 155). Consequences of Maternal Infection for Unborn Fetus The rubella Virus is very teratogenic, and should a maternal infection occur, the developing fetus might develop congenital rubella syndrome. As said earlier, amount of injury to the developing fetus is highly dependent on what stage of development the fetus is in. The rubella virus targets all organs and tissues of the body and has a wide range of effects. Tests to determine Maternal and Fetal Infection Tests can be done to determine maternal or fetal infection of the rubella virus. According to Dontigny et al. (2008) if maternal infection is suspected, a serology test using enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA) is used to test for rubella specific IgM and IgG antibodies in maternal blood. A rise in rubella IgG antibodies, a positive serologic test for IgM antobodies and a positive rubella culture are essential to maternal diagnosis of infection (Dontigny et al., 2008). If maternal infection has been determined, test to determine if the virus has spread to the fetus should be performed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay on Ethical Dilemma Ethical Dilemma If the accusations against Noca Cola (N C) were true and founded then the ethical dilemma of deception and contributing to an epidemic would exist. The information provided about the study doesn t clearly identify that N C is not decreasing water available to people in need. Based on the results from the thorough investigation identifying that Noca Cola uses a very small supply of water in the formula for the soft drinks and that it is a statistically insignificant amount relative to the water shortages in the country the ethical dilemma can be possibly removed for me. However, I would need to gather more information on the details of the investigation to determine if there were a ethical challenge in taking this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plan Initially, my focus would be on learning as much as possible about the Indian culture in which the N C plant is located. I would spend at a minimum a week in the local community to observe and learn as much as possible. A day or two would be spent at the plant observing and talking with various employees. An employee of the plant would be my guide to show me the community and assist with any communication barriers that may exist. I would ask the guide to assist in finding individuals that I could gather information from the provide insight from the members of the local community. My communication would be open and honest with the plant employees and community members. I would make it clear that it was my responsibly to work with all involved parties to find a resolution to the concerns regarding N C exhausting needed resources. A meeting would be requested with the local government representatives, in which their concerns would be heard and learned. Views of plant workers, local community members and government representatives regarding the accusations and investigation results would be complied, compared and contrasted. This information would be taken this into consideration when taking the next step of my plan. Results of the investigation would be shared with the representatives from the government, the plant workers, and community members. This would be done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The s First Modern Grocery Store Moreover, on that bright June day the hurry and spring in the pretty redhead s step had a teeny bit to do with what her best friend, Sylvia, had told her earlier that same morning: someone new had come to town; a handsome, mysterious young man. All the harbor girls whispered in delight; gossiping, speculating and wondering who would land the first date with this new guy. Rumors had it that he had started work at the newly opened First National, the harbor s first modern grocery store. Oh sure, there were fish markets and butcher shops and the likes, but mostly, folks had milk, cheese and butter delivered, and the majority of women made their own bread and put up their own vegetables and preserves. However, now with this new grocery store, their basics could all be purchased in one locale. The young man that the girls were all buzzing about had only been in Cutler Harbor for two days or so, no one had met him yet. It was Priscilla, who told Natalie; he lived in Damariscotta, some twenty miles away (he did). Then Natalie told Sylvia that she heard he had a car (he did not). In conclusion, Sylvia told Lelia he looked like a dreamboat, just like Clark Gable (he did). The person Lelia had worn her hand sewn dress for, and couldn t wait to witness with her own eyes was Owen Isaac Bauer. Beyond a doubt, his handsome appearance unearthed the dreamboat the gossip had depicted him. His broad shoulders, combined with a thin build, had him appear much taller than his measured ... • 38. The Machine Stops Essay example In The Machine Stops, E.M. Forster projects life years from now where people live underground with extreme technological advances. Also, people live separated in little rooms where they find a variety of buttons they can press in order to perform any task they desire. They do not communicate with people face to face as often as we do now. Without a doubt, their society is very different from ours. All of the inhabitants are used to living along with the Machine and it is hard for them to imagine life without everything the Machine is able to facilitate. People are so caught up with technology that they find it absurd to spend time in nature. Because of the dependence people have towards the Machine, they have somewhat lost their humanity ... It is weird to see this kind of behavior coming from a mother because mothers usually worry a lot for their children and try to dedicate as much time as possible to them. At last she decides to visit him and uses the air ship as transportation. As Vashti expresses her experiences in her journey, one notices how inhumane and out of touch she and everyone else is. She is shocked when a man dropped his book and he, himself, picks it up from the floor without any help from the Machine. Vashti becomes very anxious because she is not used to this type of behavior and neither talking or interacting with people. It was three months ago the last time she actually had a face to face conversation with someone and so feels very intimidated and scared. People were almost exactly alike all over the world, but the attendant of the air ship, perhaps owing to her exceptional duties, had grown a little out of the common. She had often to address passengers with direct speech, and this had given her a certain roughness and originality of manner. (p.118) Because she was feeling uncomfortable in this voyage she finds support and comfort by touching and reciting to the Book which is a manual that teaches people how to function the Machine. Vashti also became annoyed when a ray of sunlight was touching her; the attendant had to move her to another seat because of all her complaints. Apparently, Vashti tripped and the attendant grabbed her with the intention of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
