The Rise Of The Great Wall Of China
In 1974 in the Shaanxi province of, China, peasants digging a well near the city of Xian stumbled
upon a cache of life size, terracotta figures of soldiers, which was later determined to be the burial
complex of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Qin Shi Huang. Qin Shi Huang has ruled China from
221 B.C. to 207 B.C. The emperor was credited with a series of public works projects, including an
early iteration of the Great Wall, a standardized written language for the whole empire, and a system
of weights. An estimated amount of 700,000 laborers worked to construct his burial complex at Xian
as well as approximately 8000 figures to guard his spirit in the afterlife. Since the discovery of the
tombs, archaeologists have continued to find additional artifacts near the site to find more information
about China. The site also has become a popular tourist attraction. ... Show more content on

Huang gets credit for unifying these provinces under one centralized government and establishing the
capital of Xianyang. With centralization came the power to direct a huge force able to accomplish
many things such as, remarkable building projects, a huge park for hunting and other outdoor
recreation, and an early version of the Great Wall of China, which was a massive wall built to protect
China s northern borders. Another major project they did was the emperor s elaborate burial complex,
which was constructed during his lifetime. It took an estimated 700,000 workers and took about three

The United States National Debt Essay
Many Americans today are aware that the United States is in debt, however, some may not realize by
how much. Currently, the United States National Debt is up to 18 trillion dollars and is steadily
increasing. This is a serious problem for the U.S., especially for millennials, who are going to be the
ones living and dealing with the debt left behind for them. Increased spending, borrowing from China,
and interest on the money borrowed are setting up our economy for an eventual crash, one that the
upcoming generation may not be prepared for. Every dollar that accumulates into the debt will have to
be repaid with interest at some point, making it harder to pay back. To gain a better understanding of
how the U.S. dug itself into such a deep hole, one should start at the beginning of where the debt
started. Entering into the twentieth century, Americans usually only made bigger purchases if they had
the total amount of money ready to be used all at one time. Once the idea of credit became popular,
Americans started to make those purchases sooner and they only had to pay back the money small
amounts at a time. This method of spending raised the standard of living in America while also raising
the level of debt. It took off from there, people became hooked on being able to pay small amounts of
a big purchase in increments instead of one lump sum. Government programs also started
accumulating debt of their own. Eventually, the United States was racking up debt into several

A Short Note On Da And Its Attack On America On September...
Introduction
This memo will contain information concerning Al Qai da and its attack on America on September 11,
2001. This act of terrorism, as it is related to President Bush s speech on September 20, 2001, will
show the accuracy of statements made by the President and any inaccuracies will be addressed in the
memo.
Background
Al Qai da began in the 1980 s due to the war between the Russians and Afghanistan. Al Qaeda The
Base was developed by Usama Bin Laden and others in the early 1980 s to support the war effort in
Afghanistan against the Soviets. (FBI.gov). Bin Laden created the group based on Syyid Qutb s
teachings that Jihad should be waged in order for the Quran to be what is followed in society. It should
be noted that after victory in Afghanistan the fighters that were in The Base began going to countries
in the Middle East spreading the jihad mantra around. With this happening rising opposition began
against the U.S. and other non Islamic governments. It is also prevalent to remember the 1988
bombings of our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in which Bin Laden perpetrated.
The precepts in Al Qai da are attributed to; dislike of non Islamic countries, Jihad and dying in the
name of Jihad.
Al Qai da as mentioned earlier had began waging war against the United States long before this month
such as on October 12, 2000, a small boat loaded with explosives plowed into the hull of the U.S.S.
Cole, an American naval destroyer docked off the coast of Yemen. 17

Role of Digital Media in Anticipatory Shipping:
Gone are the days where marketers solely rely on TV or print media to market their products. In this
digital world major part of advertisement budget is allocated to the digital media advertising. One may
think this is the maximum extent to which a company can go to improve its market presence. But
Amazon is undoubtedly way ahead in utilizing digital media for their research. A quintessential to that
is the current idea of Anticipatory Shipping. Even though there are some loopholes in the whole idea
the way they designed the whole structure of this delivery system is quiet fascinating. They have
divided the whole model into two parts

2) Shipping model

Descriptive Essay On Mexican Mayan Temple
5 Must see Mexican Mayan Temples
Without a doubt, one of the most visually stunning and physically overwhelming things I ve come
across on my travels are the ancient temples of Central America. In this article, I m going to delve into
some of the ones I was lucky enough to experience. Now, it s important to point out early on, that this
is by no means a list of the best temples and covers only a very, very small portion of a vast expansive
network of temples scattered across the continent. However, this is a list of my personal favourites and
of temples, I would highly recommend anyone in the area (or thinking of going to the area) visits.

The place with all of this and much more sits approximately 25 miles Northeast of Mexico City, in the
San Juan Teotihuacán municipality. Covering a total surface area of 32 square miles and with an
estimated population of more than 125,000 at its peak, Teotihuacán is a goliath complex which
consists of multiple elements. Including an impressive array of temples. Predictably, when you step
foot on the Avenue of the Dead and you gaze down the wide expansive pathways at the Pyramids of

third largest in the world (after Cholula Giza) but further down the valley overshadowing The Moon is

Bruce Dawe Analysis
How often do we feel frustrated at how people are treated?
How many times do we feel stressed and stretched by the insane demands of the modern world (and
what it expects of us).Ladies and gentlemen these questions can be confronted through the poetry of
mid 19th century Australian Bruce Dawe as the concepts he explores sare universal relating to a wide
audience throughout all time hence appealing to our contemporary audience today. Dawe s poems
Enter so much without as knocking and Homecoming explores the ideas of the bustle and stress of
modern life, the intrusion of media which fragments our social relations the emotional trauma of
family and the senseless nature of war through the dehumanization of soldiers.I am professor Jessica
Galazzo of literature at the University of Canberra and I today present to you, the national library
because i firmly believe that Dawe has made a powerful impact and strong connection to a
contemporary audience.
Dawe s poem Enter without so much as knocking confronts us with bustles and stresses of modern day
life many aspects of which, which corrupts our childhood innocence acknowledging Dawes powerful
link to a contemporary audience. The turmoil of the persona during their birth and upbringing in the
opening stanzas demonstrates the use of simple sentences which reflects the innocence of the child
before the stresses of his life begin to take over. In beginning of the poem the use of imperatives

3rd Grade Bilingual Education Curriculum
Over the years data has become a major part of school starting in pre kindergarten. Evaluations
happen every day in school. The only thing that make a different is when and what type. Is the
evaluation given after instruction daily or just after a unit? Next, what happens with the data from the
evaluation? Are the standards retaught or is it just time to move to the next unit? Being a teacher it is
baffling how you can teach a whole lesson and only half if that many of your students understood. The
concerning point is that you re not only responsible for the half that understand. You are also
responsible for the half that didn t understand. After teaching for so many years now I have noticed
there is not a perfect class. With knowing this when teachers receive bad test results on an assessment
they should ask their selves the same questions. Why do they not understand and what can I do
differently? However, these are the question that the teacher is being ... Show more content on

The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion,
the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his
representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of
evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is
grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is
to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had
deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is
mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him
more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating
the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say,
Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the
raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will
leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that
maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so
lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then
decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the
word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad
like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of
the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt,
and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and
he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the
word nevermore in a

Similarities Between Federalists And Democratic Republicans
The federalists and democratic republicans were two political parties who were against each other.
Even though, both parties believed that what they were doing was best for the nation, they each had
differences. The federalists believed in strong government and was led by George Washington, John
Adams, and Alexander Hamilton. In the other hand, Democratic republicans believed in a smaller
government, debated the political and economic future of the nation, and was led by Thomas Jefferson
and James Madison.
The federalists favored a strong central government because they believed that if the states had too
much power the government wouldn t be able to protect the rights of the citizens. Alexander
Hamilton, leader of the federalists, believed in a loose constitution, taking action on whatever the
people wanted as long as it wasn t listed in the constitution. Federalists concluded that the United
States should be able to manufacture and trade. The federalists were strong in New England and had
support from the northern east, they supported the Britain with whom they traded with.
In contrast, the democrats emphasized the state governments should have most of the powers rather

The Life and Achievements of Harriet Tubman Essay examples
We know her as the Moses of her people; she left a remarkable history on the tracks of the
Underground Railroad that will never be forgotten. Harriet Tubman born into slavery around 1820 in
Dorchester County, Maryland, Harriet Tubman was a nurse, spy, social reformer and a feminist during
a period of economic upheaval in the United States. For people to understand the life of Harriet
Tubman, they should know about her background, her life as a slave, and as a free woman.
The first contribution of Harriet Tubman is that she served as a spy for the union army, because she

The second contribution of Harriet Tubman is that she was a conductor in the Underground Railroad, a
network of antislavery activists who helped slaves escape from the south. On her first trip in 1850,
Tubman bought her sister and her sister s two children out of slavery in Maryland. In 1851, she helped
her brother out of slavery, and in 1857 she returned to Maryland to guide her old parents back to
freedom. Overall Tubman made about nineteen trips to the south and guided about three hundred
slaves to freedom. But during those travels Tubman faced great danger in order not to get caught she
would use disguises and carries a sleeping powder to stop babies from crying and also always carried

Violence And The Problem Of Sexual And Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is an issue that keeps increasing. The abusers usually have issues such as, drinking,
major aggression problems, and some may even have a mental illness. In domestic violence there are
many different types of abuse that a person can go through. Domestic Violence is the most common
but there is also Sexual and Mental Violence. There are many problems that lead up to domestic
violence but also there´s many solutions.
A major problem of domestic violence is the abuser is gaining control over someone and their life.
¨Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain
total control over you. An abuser doesn t play fair. (domestic violence)¨. The abuser (man or woman)
uses fear, shame, guilt, and will use the people you love against someone. The abuser also threatens
them and hurts them and people around them that they could run to for help. The abuser uses their fear
of them, makes them feel like they re worthless, makes all the money and isolates them from family
and friends unless they are there to keep them from telling family or friends about what s going on or
leaving them.
Many abusers have a drinking problem, and this is also another big leading cause to abuse. Research
shows that drinking and alcohol abuse lead to physical aggression. People who tend to already have a
problem with anger and drink get so much worse and get out of control. ¨Alcohol use has been
reported in between 25 percent and 85 percent

Order Of Merit List
The draw down the Army is currently experiencing introduced changes to the Army s retention
program and the service of some Soldiers is no longer a given. A tri signed memorandum from senior
Army leadership changed the way retention will operate in the future. As a result, Army leadership
implemented the Order of Merit List (OML) causing commanders at all levels to face tough decisions
that will challenge their ethical demeanor. Subjecting our Soldiers to this type of treatment is unjust.
The use of the OML determines the best qualified Soldiers throughout formations. Though the OML
may identify the top performers, it does not take into account the Soldiers future potential. Looking at
the situation through the ethical decision making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ethical issue resonates here. Leaving the interpretation of what best qualified meant up to each
commander. Subsequently, every commander had a different perception of what best qualified meant
to them. Within the Third Infantry Division (3ID), they developed an Order of Merit List (OML) to
help commanders identify the best qualified Soldiers in their formations. This directive came from the
3ID Commanding General (CG). Each brigade constructed an OML by utilizing Soldiers weapon
score, physical fitness test score, if they appeared before a Soldier of the Month board, previous
awards, military and civilian education, deployment history, and the first line supervisors
recommendation to come up with a total point value. The Third Infantry Commander named this the
Commanders Assessment Tool for Retention (CAT R). Soldiers with the highest score would have the
first opportunity to reenlist. Soldiers would have two weeks to make a decision to reenlist or not.
Soldiers that elected not to reenlist went to the bottom of the OML until the next quarter. This allowed
only the best qualified Soldiers to reenlist. Just as the Army is an all volunteer force so is retention of
our Soldiers. This process led commanders to face tough decisions. By choosing, who gets to reenlist
and who does not base upon how a Soldier performed, it never addressed the Soldiers future potential.
The Commanding General of the Third Infantry Division (3ID) took the tri signed letter out of
context. Subjecting Soldiers to this type of treatment was wrong. These are the very same Soldiers that
deployed into harms way some multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan to defeat our adversaries, and
now we are questioning their service and if they are good enough. According to General Odierno the
previous Chief of Staff of the Army, one of the hardest things Soldiers will face in their

Makeup Industry Analysis Paper
For the black woman struggling to find the right shade of makeup have no fear! It has always been
very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades the melanin
filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of these products has

product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines affordability and product
quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup will cover and how much product is
used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most important quality of a foundation brand is
the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits itself to the skin tones of a light skin African

Principles Of Business Law By Robert W. Emerson Essay
Running a company can be very difficult and challenging. There are many rules and ethics that applies
in the business world. Most of them can refer to legal terms, confidential activities, and agency, etc.
However, one book explains more in depth about business law called Business Law. The book was
published in 2009 (Emerson, 2009). It is also written by an American author named Robert W.
Emerson. His book contains a variety of valuable chapters that give details on the principles of
business law. The book also provided useful ideas how tort responsibility can be take part of a lawsuit.
The most important thing in Emerson s book is useful details about the nature of business law
throughout most of his chapters. In this paper, I will discuss briefly about the topics in chapters
fourteen to eighteen.
In Emerson s book, chapter fourteen explains a great deal about the principles of business law. Its
main discussion is agency, which means a lawful relationship when someone interacts for someone
else (Emerson, 2009). An example of this would be a friend of mine, who works for me at my men s
clothing store. I am known as the owner of the business, while my friend assists me with any tasks that
needs to be done. Agency is very common in large companies, and they are important when it comes
to building relationship with other people. The reason why is because there is a level of trust and
confidence required. If an organization do not feel their agent is not suitable, then they can

Hauerwas s eyes are more about forming narrative, and the reason why he sees it that way is because
of how ethics is following scripture of the Bible. Hauerwas explaining that the Christian ethics are
going to be more about people following into this study and relying on the Bible in order to help them
out of certain situations. Hauerwas explains that it is more about a narrative community instead of
being an ethical study, alongside with the Enlightenment Model which he discusses he does not like as
well. The Enlightenment model is explained as to being a rationality about the Christian ethics and
only focusing on scripture for those in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well, he explains that the true focus is to explain the Christian ethics is something that would not
be separated from the theology, and is defined in that alone as a story book. For results of Wilkens
looking over this study he found more of problems with Hauerwas s study. The results showed that
Hauerwas was positive about becoming a better person down the road. As for the negative side of this
study was that there was too much ambiguity about Christians, as well as the lines between scripture
and community is not clear, the community is never explained by Hauerwas, and lastly, the Christian
story is not a true story. The importance of this study of Hauerwas is going to be because of the fact
there are positive sides, and as well as negative sides about different ethical studies. Wilkens explains
this as being an important study because of this being where our lives begin with studies like this.
Ethic studies show us different ways of seeing the world. Hauerwas s study on Christian ethics, has
been something that is going to aimed at most believers as well as he is going to show that Christians
morality is more than following rules and legalism. Hauerwas is more about the grounding ethics that
are about the Scripture and the traditions that come along with being a Christian. Other things that are
going to be important for this study is that of being able to show that there are positive things about
the Christian ethics, and the negative that most of the ethic does not explain for us. Hauerwas s is also
going to show critics about the Enlightenment model, and with that being of notion of rationality and
focusing on just the Christian

Edgar Allan Poe Essay
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe was born near London on the 19th of January 1809. His mother was an actor and his
father was a doctor. When Poe was 2 years old his father disappeared. His mother, who was seriously
ill in tuberculosis, took Poe and his sister to Richmond, Virginia. Poe s mother died soon after this.
The two siblings became then separated and Poe was taken care of by the wealthy family of the
Allans. Due to Mr. Allans work the family had to move to England, where they spent five years. In
1826 Poe started at quot; The University of Virginia quot;.

Poe was fascinated by the mystical and the unknown. He was also interested in the human
subconscious and why a human being react in a certain way at a certain time. His stories are often
about dark castles and castle ruins which often have secrets buried deep down in the walls where they
have been for centuries. Most likely in a moonlit desert landscape. Magical experiments and hypnosis
play a big part in Poe s works. Many people thinks that Edgar Allan Poe was one of the first detective
story writer with the short story quot; The murders in the Rue morgue quot;, where the detective
Monsieur Dupin solves a strange homicide case where a giant monkey is the murderer. This short
story is a bit different because there is for example a three page laying out about algae and mosses in
the story.
Poe had a rhythmic and floating language in his texts and to show this, I have a couple of excerpts
from the poem quot; The Raven quot;. There are also examples of the mystical that often is found in
Poe s productions. The poem is written in four
stroke iamb.
The Raven
quot; Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. quot;
quot; Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.

Bruno Carvajal Sunyoung Hwang Bosede Omolehinwa | Our goal when we created Tesla a decade ago
was the same as it is today: to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport by bringing compelling
mass market electric cars to market as soon as possible. 1
These are the words of Elon Musk, the co founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, a technology company

Tesla has several key drivers of differentiation, which makes the company occupy a unique position in
the market (Fig 5). Some key skills that have allowed Tesla to enjoy its competitive advantage are: *
Technology amp; Innovation Development: Its focus has allowed the company to move faster and
create groundbreaking ideas in EV technology. The list of patents is extensive (Fig 6). * Human
Resources Management: Tesla is constantly aiming at recruiting and working with the best talents
within the technology industry to achieve superior product development. * Company s culture: Unlike
most companies, Tesla is still being funded by its investors, betting on establishing a new propulsion
standard and making profits in the long run. Without the support of its CEO Elon Musk, this most
probably would not have been possible.
Tesla s differentiation strategy will most probably be sustainable in the long run, but only if the
company keeps its essence of innovation. Although a differentiation strategy is harder to replicate than
a cost advantage strategy, Tesla needs to innovate and improve their products or other competitors will
find ways to replicate their products, even more now that Tesla released its patents. Tesla has already
gained a reputation and position in the global market, the key for sustainability is how they manage to

Benefits Of Gene Therapy For Parkinson s Disease
Gene therapy for Parkinson s disease (PD) is an alternative to current pharmacologic and surgical
treatments; the former are limited by motor and non motor complication, and both by lack of
neuroprotection. Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally significant,
long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving gene replacement, attempts to
correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by expressing unmutated
gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is linked to a single genetic
mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy to neurology is limited.
Another goal of gene therapy is to transfer therapeutic proteins to a targeted area of the central
nervous system (CNS), not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The age old problem with the use of proteins to treat neurodegenerative diseases is that they are large,
partially polar and often labile entities that, when injected, can aggregate, misfolded and tolerated
other changes that render them biologically ineffective or worse. Moreover more problematic for CNS
indications, they do not readily cross the blood brain barrier and, when injected directly into the brain,
do not spread significantly from the point of injection, thus reducing their exposure to the targeted
tissue, which greatly decreases their therapeutic effect, finally, when protein delivery is mistargeted,
significant side effects can occur (17 20). Gene therapy (gene transfer) refers to the use of a modified
viral vector to introduce genetic information to site specific host cells to induce targeted, long term,

Altruism VS The Selfish Gene Essay
Would you give a penny to the needy? How about a kidney? A heart?
The thought of spring break brings up images of partying in warm weather, drunken one night stands,
and the raging hangovers that follow; yet for Rachel Garneau, a junior at Notre Dame, it represented
an pseudo holiday opportunity for giving, and give she did. This twenty year old gave up a kidney for
a complete stranger. There was an air of psychosis to her as she walked right into the University Of
Chicago s Bernard Mitchell Hospital, calm as ever; her demeanor quite indifferent, her nonchalance
quite unnerving. Funny how we find this act of complete altruism weird ; because it is weird, all that

Studies conducted on the early developmental egalitarianism and parochialism in children show that
other regarding factors are, to some extend, exist as inherent tendencies in all humans: when allowed
to choose between how candy is distributed among an anonymous partner and themselves, the
children chose to be heavily selfless in their distribution. As Fehr et al. come to this startling
conclusion in their paper Egalitarianism in young children , we see how proper upbringing and
cultural norms are not solely responsible for our altruistic nature. We have evolved to take others into
consideration in our choices; we have evolved a heart .
The innateness of these selfless tendencies is exemplified by the close study of our primitive
ancestors. Frans de Waal, professor of psychology at Emory University, studied the habit of the greater
apes. In his work Homo homini lupus? Morality, the Social Instincts, and our Fellow Primates ,
deWaal talks about the surprising altruism we see in nature. Adult chimpanzees consolidate each other
after a fight; questioning all we know about how the wild is a cutthroat struggle for survival.
The most striking evidence was that of the lesser evolved Capuchins. In an experiment to test altruism
in the very basic human precursors, deWaal separated two Capuchian monkeys, Vulcan and Vergil,

Recalling memories are something we do multiple times every day. Memories are a place where
emotions, feelings, experiences, and who we are as a person reside. Without our memories, we would

memories which were once joyful will then become sad. Those now sad memories have the ability to

Beowulf As A Epic Hero
A hero is defined in Merriam Webster as a ...legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with
great strength or ability...who shows great courage . In order for someone to be recognized as a hero,
they must demonstrate bravery and stand up for what is fair and just, even when they face conflict.
Most traditional heroes are chivalrous and selfless, but in some cases, the hero desires power, fortune,
and a high status, which makes him focus on his own advantages without much concern for others.
During the Anglo Saxon to Medieval period in Britain, heroes changed from acting selfishly to nobly
as exemplified by Beowulf and Arthur. Beowulf is a legendary hero, whom people have told many
stories about, but he is also extremely selfish. When Beowulf is stopped and questioned by the
watchman about his soldiers and past life, he states that his father was a famous soldier, known far and
wide as a leader...men all over earth surely remember him still (Beowulf 27). By telling the watchman
this, he brags about his distinguished father and his superiority, proving that Beowulf himself should
also be highly regarded. This is one of the first moments in the story the reader notices Beowulf s
boastful and egoistical character. In addition, Beowulf does not seek to conceal his desire for praise.
He boasts of his exploits with a child s simplicity of enjoyment because he craves recognition of his
impressive feats (McNary). Author Sarah McNary conveys that heroes of this time only

The LBC Play
The LBC event I attended this weekend was, the play The Boy Who Loved Monsters and The Girl

evident from the above discussion, students performed better on stations assessing practical skills than
the PEP stations focused on critical thinking. It should also be noted that students tended to struggle

While reading the title, we already get to know that the main plot will be about some kind of a tragic
love.
First of all, the poem deals with the comparison of different kind of feelings. Love and death are
incredibly close to each other in this poem, actually they complement each other. Love is like a great
power, which can destruct everything, defencelessness is the main goal of this feeling. Beauty is just
an illusion, and all illusions are just nightmares. The ballad shows, that nothing is certain, permanent,
love can disappear in a second. Moreover, destruction and creation are really close to each other. In a
nutshell, we can see that love and death are the two main feelings, which are linked to each other in
every period of life. Secondly, the atmosphere, the places are also very significant in the poem. The
setting of the poem is like a medieval tale with fairies, knights and unrealistic places. Obviously, the
ballad starts with autumn like pictures, there are no birds, which are the symbols of the lack of love.
The nature is not the symbol of life in the first and second stanzas, it is the symbol of death. The
knight, the main character, who should be a strong, brave man, is now wandering aimlessly, he is pale,
he has a fever, which can be the sign of sickness, death. Because of the fact that it is autumn, it is not
surprising, that even the lively characters are colourless,

Sacagawea History
Idaho has a fascinating history. From the state s Native American history and settlers to World War II,
and the states 1900 s disaster, Idaho has an exciting past. Plus Idaho has the best potatoes!
In August 1805, four European white men on horses arrived in what s now the Idaho Montana border.
The men were Captain Meriwether Lewis, John Shields, George Drouillard, and Hugh Mc Nell. All
these people belonged to a group of 59 explorers called the Corps of Discovery. In what is now South
Dakota a Shoshone woman, Sacagawea, became part of the expedition.
Corps of Discovery met a traveling band of Shoshones before they entered Idaho. Sacagawea
recognized their leader, he was her brother who she had not seen in five years. Lewis and Clark were
not successful without Sacagawea. When Sacagawea was little she was kidnapped from her people
and taken to live with the Mandan tribe. Sacagawea married a french trapper. Both Sacagawea and her
husband joined Lewis and Clark s expedition. She was very helpful for talking with native people and
trading.
David Thompson, a Canadian explorer, built a fur trading post on the shores of Lake and Oreille in
1809. Two more posts were built in 1834. One of the forts is called Fort Hall, founded by the

  • 2. The Rise Of The Great Wall Of China In 1974 in the Shaanxi province of, China, peasants digging a well near the city of Xian stumbled upon a cache of life size, terracotta figures of soldiers, which was later determined to be the burial complex of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Qin Shi Huang. Qin Shi Huang has ruled China from 221 B.C. to 207 B.C. The emperor was credited with a series of public works projects, including an early iteration of the Great Wall, a standardized written language for the whole empire, and a system of weights. An estimated amount of 700,000 laborers worked to construct his burial complex at Xian as well as approximately 8000 figures to guard his spirit in the afterlife. Since the discovery of the tombs, archaeologists have continued to find additional artifacts near the site to find more information about China. The site also has become a popular tourist attraction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. The United States National Debt Essay Many Americans today are aware that the United States is in debt, however, some may not realize by how much. Currently, the United States National Debt is up to 18 trillion dollars and is steadily increasing. This is a serious problem for the U.S., especially for millennials, who are going to be the ones living and dealing with the debt left behind for them. Increased spending, borrowing from China, and interest on the money borrowed are setting up our economy for an eventual crash, one that the upcoming generation may not be prepared for. Every dollar that accumulates into the debt will have to be repaid with interest at some point, making it harder to pay back. To gain a better understanding of how the U.S. dug itself into such a deep hole, one should start at the beginning of where the debt started. Entering into the twentieth century, Americans usually only made bigger purchases if they had the total amount of money ready to be used all at one time. Once the idea of credit became popular, Americans started to make those purchases sooner and they only had to pay back the money small amounts at a time. This method of spending raised the standard of living in America while also raising the level of debt. It took off from there, people became hooked on being able to pay small amounts of a big purchase in increments instead of one lump sum. Government programs also started accumulating debt of their own. Eventually, the United States was racking up debt into several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Short Note On Da And Its Attack On America On September... Introduction This memo will contain information concerning Al Qai da and its attack on America on September 11, 2001. This act of terrorism, as it is related to President Bush s speech on September 20, 2001, will show the accuracy of statements made by the President and any inaccuracies will be addressed in the memo. Background Al Qai da began in the 1980 s due to the war between the Russians and Afghanistan. Al Qaeda The Base was developed by Usama Bin Laden and others in the early 1980 s to support the war effort in Afghanistan against the Soviets. (FBI.gov). Bin Laden created the group based on Syyid Qutb s teachings that Jihad should be waged in order for the Quran to be what is followed in society. It should be noted that after victory in Afghanistan the fighters that were in The Base began going to countries in the Middle East spreading the jihad mantra around. With this happening rising opposition began against the U.S. and other non Islamic governments. It is also prevalent to remember the 1988 bombings of our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in which Bin Laden perpetrated. The precepts in Al Qai da are attributed to; dislike of non Islamic countries, Jihad and dying in the name of Jihad. Al Qai da as mentioned earlier had began waging war against the United States long before this month such as on October 12, 2000, a small boat loaded with explosives plowed into the hull of the U.S.S. Cole, an American naval destroyer docked off the coast of Yemen. 17 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Descriptive Essay On Mexican Mayan Temple 5 Must see Mexican Mayan Temples Without a doubt, one of the most visually stunning and physically overwhelming things I ve come across on my travels are the ancient temples of Central America. In this article, I m going to delve into some of the ones I was lucky enough to experience. Now, it s important to point out early on, that this is by no means a list of the best temples and covers only a very, very small portion of a vast expansive network of temples scattered across the continent. However, this is a list of my personal favourites and of temples, I would highly recommend anyone in the area (or thinking of going to the area) visits. Tulum In many senses, Tulum has it all. White beaches, crystal clear water, friendly locals and to top it all off, overlooking the serene beach, a Mayan temple. Situated on the Yucatán Peninsula ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst they booted severed heads off the edge. Teotihuacán The Valley of the Dead, Temple of the Feathered Serpent, Pyramid of the Moon and The Pyramid of the Sun. All spectacles in their own right. All undoubtedly must sees , but all in one place? Teotihuacan. The place with all of this and much more sits approximately 25 miles Northeast of Mexico City, in the San Juan Teotihuacán municipality. • 11. The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say, Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the word nevermore in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ethical issue resonates here. Leaving the interpretation of what best qualified meant up to each commander. Subsequently, every commander had a different perception of what best qualified meant to them. Within the Third Infantry Division (3ID), they developed an Order of Merit List (OML) to help commanders identify the best qualified Soldiers in their formations. This directive came from the 3ID Commanding General (CG). Each brigade constructed an OML by utilizing Soldiers weapon score, physical fitness test score, if they appeared before a Soldier of the Month board, previous awards, military and civilian education, deployment history, and the first line supervisors recommendation to come up with a total point value. The Third Infantry Commander named this the Commanders Assessment Tool for Retention (CAT R). Soldiers with the highest score would have the first opportunity to reenlist. Soldiers would have two weeks to make a decision to reenlist or not. Soldiers that elected not to reenlist went to the bottom of the OML until the next quarter. This allowed only the best qualified Soldiers to reenlist. Just as the Army is an all volunteer force so is retention of our Soldiers. This process led commanders to face tough decisions. By choosing, who gets to reenlist and who does not base upon how a Soldier performed, it never addressed the Soldiers future potential. The first, involving gene replacement, attempts to correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by expressing unmutated gene. The thought of spring break brings up images of partying in warm weather, drunken one night stands, and the raging hangovers that follow; yet for Rachel Garneau, a junior at Notre Dame, it represented an pseudo holiday opportunity for giving, and give she did. This twenty year old gave up a kidney for a complete stranger. There was an air of psychosis to her as she walked right into the University Of Chicago s Bernard Mitchell Hospital, calm as ever; her demeanor quite indifferent, her nonchalance quite unnerving. Studies conducted on the early developmental egalitarianism and parochialism in children show that other regarding factors are, to some extend, exist as inherent tendencies in all humans: when allowed to choose between how candy is distributed among an anonymous partner and themselves, the children chose to be heavily selfless in their distribution. As Fehr et al. come to this startling conclusion in their paper Egalitarianism in young children , we see how proper upbringing and cultural norms are not solely responsible for our altruistic nature. We have evolved to take others into consideration in our choices; we have evolved a heart . The innateness of these selfless tendencies is exemplified by the close study of our primitive ancestors. Frans de Waal, professor of psychology at Emory University, studied the habit of the greater apes. In his work Homo homini lupus? Morality, the Social Instincts, and our Fellow Primates , deWaal talks about the surprising altruism we see in nature. Adult chimpanzees consolidate each other after a fight; questioning all we know about how the wild is a cutthroat struggle for survival. The most striking evidence was that of the lesser evolved Capuchins. In an experiment to test altruism in the very basic human precursors, deWaal separated two Capuchian monkeys, Vulcan and Vergil, giving one the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for someone to be recognized as a hero, they must demonstrate bravery and stand up for what is fair and just, even when they face conflict. Most traditional heroes are chivalrous and selfless, but in some cases, the hero desires power, fortune, and a high status, which makes him focus on his own advantages without much concern for others. During the Anglo Saxon to Medieval period in Britain, heroes changed from acting selfishly to nobly as exemplified by Beowulf and Arthur. Beowulf is a legendary hero, whom people have told many stories about, but he is also extremely selfish. When Beowulf is stopped and questioned by the watchman about his soldiers and past life, he states that his father was a famous soldier, known far and wide as a leader...men all over earth surely remember him still (Beowulf 27). By telling the watchman this, he brags about his distinguished father and his superiority, proving that Beowulf himself should also be highly regarded. This is one of the first moments in the story the reader notices Beowulf s boastful and egoistical character. In addition, Beowulf does not seek to conceal his desire for praise. He boasts of his exploits with a child s simplicity of enjoyment because he craves recognition of his impressive feats (McNary). Author Sarah McNary conveys that heroes of this time only ... First of all, the poem deals with the comparison of different kind of feelings. Love and death are incredibly close to each other in this poem, actually they complement each other. Love is like a great power, which can destruct everything, defencelessness is the main goal of this feeling. Beauty is just an illusion, and all illusions are just nightmares. The ballad shows, that nothing is certain, permanent, love can disappear in a second. Moreover, destruction and creation are really close to each other. In a nutshell, we can see that love and death are the two main feelings, which are linked to each other in every period of life. Secondly, the atmosphere, the places are also very significant in the poem. The setting of the poem is like a medieval tale with fairies, knights and unrealistic places. Obviously, the ballad starts with autumn like pictures, there are no birds, which are the symbols of the lack of love. The nature is not the symbol of life in the first and second stanzas, it is the symbol of death. The knight, the main character, who should be a strong, brave man, is now wandering aimlessly, he is pale, he has a fever, which can be the sign of sickness, death. Because of the fact that it is autumn, it is not surprising, that even the lively characters are colourless,
