Poverty In Detroit Research Paper
Poverty in Detroit Being home to Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, Detroit was the nation s auto
industry capital in the 1950s ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). The city was thriving, bringing in more
income and more people each year, which led to Detroit s expansion and population peak becoming
the 4th largest city in America. But if the city was doing so well, then what caused such an economic
downfall to put them in the impoverished state they are facing today?
Most of Detroit s economic downfall was because of the reliance on a single industry, which at the
time was the auto industry ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Although this industry was thriving in
every way possible, the city became too reliant on it because when the auto industry left Detroit, the
economy made a dramatic decrease. While the auto industry was still there, the city ... Show more

Because many people abandoned their homes, the city now has fewer tax payers, and many vacant
homes. This task to shrink the city would be easier if these abandoned homes were next to each other
in convenient chunks, but it appears that Detroit is not so lucky, for the abandoned homes are spread
out all across the city making any efforts to shrink the city extremely difficult ( Anatomy of Detroit s
Decline ).
Another trial that the city faces is the development of the children (Bouffard, Karen). More than 59%
of the children in Detroit live below the poverty line (Bouffard, Karen). However, there is good news
in the midst of all this bad; Bill Ballmer, owner of the L.A. clippers, grew up in Detroit and is now
focusing on helping Detroit s economy, specifically the children ( Letter: Ending Poverty in Detroit ).
He is doing so by opening an office in Detroit that focuses on fighting poverty and enhancing the
development of Detroit s youth ( Letter: Ending Poverty in

Compare And Contrast Burgmont And Boone
Lacey Rucker Professor Pasley History of Missouri 2440 Missouri Experience 28 November 2014
The Lives of Boone and Bourgmont Étienne de Veniard, sieur de Bourgmont and Daniel Boone led
very interesting lives. Both of them being explorers of Missouri and sharing love for the land. Though
they were both explorers, they still resided very different lifestyles. Bourgmont was an entire life
ahead of Boone. Bourgmont was considered an outlaw when he first became the explorer of the
Missouri River basin while Boone was thought more of as a hero. Despite their differences, both men
had a large impact on Missouri. Étienne de Veniard, sieur de Bourgmont was the first white man to
thoroughly document his observations as he traveled the Missouri River. ... Show more content on

The first, what reparation could the governor propose if he were to lead a sizeable emigrant group to

conveying his pleasure. He informed Boone that even though the Spanish had regulations that
restricted the individual grants, he would waive it for Boone. Also, because he was the leader of this
company, Trudeau would grant a thousand units of land to Boone for him and the families that were
settling under his omens. And as for the religious wants, they would not be implemented (Boone,

Accident Fall are the Main Cause of Dental Trauma in India...
In developing countries like India, accident falls are the main cause of dental trauma and anterior teeth
are frequently affected10.The treatment options are decided by the position of the fracture line, length
of the remaining root segment and the presence or absence of a coronal segment. The chances of
healing with calcified tissue is poorest in cervical third fractures.1,11 If the fracture line extends below
the level of the alveolar bone crest and the apical root segment has sufficient length, the treatment
alternatives are crown lengthening, orthodontic extrusion, reattachment, post crown and extraction.
Crown lengthening is performed if the fracture line is not more than 1 2 mm below the alveolar bone
crest. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bonding of the fractured tooth fragment provides a more resistant restoration to staining, abrasion
than composite reconstruction, hence implicating positive psychological, emotional and social
response from child as well as parents.
Composite resins are proved to have an irritating effect on periodontal tissues especially fibroblast17 ,
White Mineral Trioxide Aggregate was used in the present case to seal the fracture line enabling lesser
possibility of leakage of dual cure composite across the fracture line. Even enzyme linked
immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has evidently demonstrated the stimulatory effect of Mineral Trioxide
Aggregate on the production of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP 2) and TGF 1 by fibroblasts of
human periodontium18 The present case report concluded that composite reinforced fiber post used
with white Mineral Trioxide Aggregate for reattachment of mobile coronal segment was observed

JetBlue Beginnings and Operational Methods
This section details the history of JetBlue, focusing on the activities of founder, David Neeleman.
JetBlue Airways, based in Forest Hills, New York, was founded in February, 1999, by David
Neeleman, the son of Mormon missionaries. He was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil, but raised in a tightly
knit Mormon family (Gajilan, 2003). After serving as a Brazilian missionary during college,
Neeleman returned to his family s base in Salt Lake City and began an enterprising condominium

Similarly, Neeleman investigated meal service and found that customers would be satisfied with light
snacks and sodas in lieu of lunch and dinner entrees. JetBlue saved roughly $3 per passenger by
cutting out meal service (Barney and Hesterly, 2010), but selected premier label snacks, such as Terra
Blue potato chips (Gajilan, 2003). The notable cost saver was utilizing flight crews to clean airline
cabins after each flight, which was inspired by the similar team player culture found at Southwest.
Special cleaning crews were not needed, and JetBlue was able to speed airplane turnaround time to 35
minutes. This number was substantially below the industry average of one hour, and the quicker
turnaround was implemented largely to sell more flights daily (Gajilan, 2003). Neeleman utilized his
knowledge of electronic ticketing and Internet based reservations to further reduce staff engaging in
customer transactions. A major operational cost saving involved entering the major air industry with a
new fleet of Airbus aircraft. Although European made, Airbus was chosen due to their fuel efficiency,
easier maintenance, and five year warranty (Gajilan, 2003). Neeleman realized that quick turnaround
time was a crucial factor in maximizing profits by simply keeping the new planes in the air longer
than the competition. Because JetBlue worked largely out of secondary airports (Midway vs. O Hare),
its flights avoided more

This organization offers meeting spaces for support/therapy groups to meet regularly in hopes of
adding and addiction free society. The room was setup with about 25 chairs formed in a circle with a
small opening for people to walk through. The meetings are 1 hour long. I forgot to count the number
of people but if I remember correctly it was approximately 23 people attending including myself. The
meeting that I attended was a support group for children of alcohol parents. The group is called ACA
(Adult Children of Alcoholics) and they meet weekly. The meeting that I attended was held on Friday
November 17, 2017 from 12:00pm 1:00pm. It is considered and open group and people are welcome

Essay Corrections System
When it comes to corrections, it is clear what their mission is and that is to incarcerate criminals,
however it also ensures that those incarcerated receive treatment to prepare them for reintegration and
reentry into society. Ever since the creation of prisons, some wonder how we managed to survive
without them in the past. Unfortunately, we do have neither the resources nor the capital to incarcerate
all who chose to engage in criminal behavior. Utilizing other programs like probation are needed in
order to accommodate those who wish to offend. According to McShane and Emeka (2011) there is
currently over 5 million probationers and parolees in the United States and these programs represents

population by 30,000 inmates.
The public is concerned because; some of those offenders will end up living among us in our
neighborhoods. It appears like the Supreme Court officials have forgotten that the offenders that they
are releasing are criminals. Why are these officials willing to place a large amount of these offenders
that were convicted by the courts back into society and jeopardize our public safety? I am concerned
that due to the high case load our probation and parole officers face that many of these offenders will
go unsupervised. Fortunately, our corrections system still continues to hire new officer to help with
probation and parole which are the two major programs that track and ensure most of these offenders
are being supervised and they also help with prison overcrowding. Probation has been part of our
society for many years. Probation was first used as a rehabilitative and supervisory tool to keep those
low level offenders out of jail. Today it is used as a strict supervisory tool that monitors offenders at
home. Our corrections system is constantly changing and

Louise Erdrich s Tracks Essay example
Louise Erdrich s Tracks
In Louise Erdrich s Tracks ;, the readers discovers by the second chapter that there are two narrators,
Nanapush and Pauline Puyat. This method of having two narrators telling their stories alternately
could be at first confusing, especially if the readers hasn t been briefed about it or hasn t read a
synopsis of it. Traditionally, there is one narrator in the story, but Erdrich does an effective and
spectacular job in combining Nanapush and Pauline s stories. It is so well written that one might
question as he or she reads who is the principal character in this story? Being that there are two
narrators, is it Nanapush, the first narrator, him being a participant in the story, who tells his story in

With the importance of Fleur throughout Tracks ;, she can be symbolized as being the nucleus of an
atom. Fleur, being the nucleus while the two narrators are like protons and electrons orbiting around
Fleur. Without the nucleus of an atom, there wouldn t be an atom; just as if there were no Fleur, the
two narrators wouldn t have someone to focus on. On the other hand, if the atom were missing some
electrons or protons, there would be an imbalance, but there would still be some form of an atom. In
other words, each narrator s story can be considered a separate entity. It might not be as complete if
the two stories were together, but because each story has a subject, a motivation and a conclusion. It
can survive on its own. But, because of Fleur s importance in both stories, she cannot be excluded
from either story without afflicting it detrimentally. If we relate this to the novel and eliminate Pauline
and her story, we still have Nanapush telling the history of Fleur and the Chippewa s to Lulu.
However, what is the significance of Nanapush telling Lulu about the history of both her tribe and her
mother?
The reasons are two fold. First, to reunite Lulu and her mother, Fleur. It seems that right from the

Effects of pH on Enzyme Activity
Aim
To investigate the effects of pH on enzyme activity
Research question
To what will pH levels 1,7,12 affect the rate at which liver catalase catalyzes the decomposition of
10ml of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to water (H2O) and oxygen (O2) exemplified by the volume of
foam reached in 1 minute
Hypothesis
Since the optimum pH of liver catalase is approximately 7. I expect the greatest volume of foam to be
achieved at pH of 7 because it is the optimum pH of liver catalase. I also expect to see lower
maximum volumes of foam in pHs 1 and 12
Variables
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE pH (1,7,12) (acidic pHs will be made by diluting concentrated HCL,
alkaline pHs will be made by diluting concentrated NaOH and a neutral pH will come from distilled
water alone)
DEPENDANT VARIABLE
Volume of foam (when H2O2 decomposes it forms H2O and O2 when the oxygen combines with the
foaming agent it produces foam )
Reaction:
H2O2(aq) → H2O (l) + O2 (g)
Controlled variables
What is controlled Method of control Why it is controlled
Temperature Temperature will be controlled but turning of the AC and the fans closing the windows
and the door during the experiment, also a insulating mat will be placed underneath the reaction vessel
Temperature must be controlled as it has a capability to affect the rate at which the enzyme will
catalyze a reaction. It does this by supplying or taking away the enzymes and the substrate molecules
with kinetic energy which

The Difference Between Tangled and Rapunzel The Short Story
Tangled In many fairy tales, there is always a damsel in distress that is beautiful and the male
character always falls in love with her. In Rapunzel the short story, Rapunzel is put into a tower and
lives there most of her young life by her mother before her prince comes to recuse her. The difference
between Tangled and Rapunzel the short story is that, Rapunzel is the princess and her prince is
actually a thief, which ends up falling in love with her. Tangled illustrates how a naïve and beautiful
heroine, evil mother figure, and a shallow egotistical hero can make a fairy tale story end with love
and marriage.

So ingrained is the image of women s beauty in fairy tales that it is difficult to imagine any that do not
highlight and glorify it. (722). Therefore, each story uses beauty to draw in a bigger audience because
no one wants to see an ugly duckling. This is how the media portrays women today, that they should
be skinny and beautiful and if they are not then no one will want to be like them; the young beautiful
women get more rewards. What that shows girls is that they must be a fairy tale character just to be
noticed, but what they do not understand is how naïve Rapunzel is to her surroundings because mother
Gothel will not let her out of the tower. Since Rapunzel has only been around her mother, she has no
concept of the outside world and the people in it. Rapunzel is naïve and does not want to disobey her
mother, but wants to see the floating lanterns for her birthday. Rapunzel is also selfless and does not
want to disappoint her mother, but she still craves the outside world. Mother Gothel is always telling
her that the people will only use her for her hair and that she will not be able to take care of herself.
When leaving the tower she has conflicting emotions and has a hard time deciding to go forward or to
just stay. She does not want mother Gothel to be heartbroken and disappointed in her decision to leave

Analysis Of We Need To Talk About Kevin
I agree with this statement because subtle conflict creates rising tension which helps to create the
drama of a text. We Need to Talk about Kevin (2011), directed by Lynne Ramsay, is a film set in New
York from 1900 s 2001 about a woman, Eva Katchadourian, who encounters her past life elliptically
leading up to her sons massacre. Through the themes of guilt, motherhood and nature versus nurture,
we are able to truly experience the drama of the film through techniques such as cinematography,
colour palette and dialogue. The drama of We Need to Talk about Kevin is developed throughout the
film in many scenes that create rising tension leading up to the climactic point. In the scene where Eva
is in a prenatal class, a wide shot helps us to recognise that she is very melancholic and withdrawn
from the other pregnant women surrounding her. The close up shots of the surrounding women s
babies while Eva still has her shirt on is interpreted as Eva coming to terms with her loss of
independence and freedom. This scene creates an effect of misery and loathing through the lighting
technique. It is very dark and not very colourful or full of life like it should be. This scene was
explored by viewers to see that Eva was miserable without her independence ad that in fact she did not
want to become a mother. It also helps viewers to understand that motherhood isn t for everybody but
societal pressure makes women think that we have to have babies or we are not giving back to the

Essay On Truman s Controversial Decision
On August 6th, 1945, a US B 29 bomber took off from an air base, carrying a package that would
forever change the nature of war and be a subject of debate throughout the rest of the century. At
approximately 9:15am, a large, mushroom shaped cloud rose over Hiroshima, Japan. The first atomic
bomb had been used in combat. The surrender of Japan a week later marked the end of a long struggle
for freedom, democracy, and peace. At the same time, it marked a change in the nature of war.
American President Harry Truman s controversial decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan ended
the Second World War and began the nuclear age. Since the end of the war, Truman s decision has
been a subject of debate, largely due to the high civilian death toll that resulted from the bombings.
However, the context of the time period and the need to end the Second World War made the use of
the nuclear weapons a necessary action to force the surrender of Japan. Truman s decision to use the
atomic bomb against Japan was justified by the historical context of the Second World War and Japan
s refusal to surrender unconditionally. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified in the
historical context of the Second World War. During this time period, the world abandoned morality in

City Of Fortune
Many books have been written on the topic of cities. They are great way to represent a larger view of
the time period that the books focus on. City of fortune does exactly that by showing how Venice fell
in power during the 1400 s. In a very similar regard a book called Lords of the Sea did the same thing.
They both focused on broad events, cultural interactions, and great peoples to get their point across.
By comparing how they both approach the same the same sort of topic, one can get an idea of how
well City of Fortune completes its goal of showing a good representation of the 1400 s.
Like in lords of the sea, City of fortune does not focus on the small things. Aside from a few first
person accounts most of the book is based on the larger details of the city. The author does this to not
give an impression of what the people were like, but to show how empires in general acted against
each other. With this larger approach to viewing the city one can get a better view of the cities place

Baseball And The American Civil War Essay
Baseball, a game played between two teams of nine on a field with a diamond shaped series of four
bases. A prestige and unique game that is played all over the world but most beloved in the United
States, hence, why people refer to it as the national pastime due to its tradition and popularity.
Baseball consists of many complex rules and an extended history. In order for one to fall in love with
the game such as America has, one must understand the rules and history of baseball. Baseball
originates back to 1800s, from a man named Abner Doubleday, who was a Union Officer during the
American Civil War. Some say he invented the game in Cooperstown, New York, in 1839. There s
limited amount of information and facts on Doubleday being the original creator of the game. A more
accurate response to the question of how baseball originates would be that many scholars believe that
baseball was invented way before we can tell. In ancient cultures, such as those of the Persians and
Egyptians, there is evidence of games being played with balls and sticks. Games similar to baseball
continued to be played by civilizations throughout history but it was not until the early 1600s that
Europeans first brought games involving a ball and a stick to the Americas. There were a number of
various games played with a ball and a stick but the one that most resembled baseball was an English
game called Rounders. The rules of Rounders are a lot simpler than the ones of modern day baseball

Essay Biodiesel vs. Ethanol
Biodiesel vs. Ethanol
Both biodiesel and ethanol are derivatives of biomass that have been processed to create a liquid
biofuel. Both types of biofuels have been touted as secure and environmentally safe alternatives to
fossil fuels, however the research verifying these claims is extensive but often contradicting. In the
following paper, the efficiency and quality of the two types of biofuel will be discussed. The effects of
variables such as source materials and production techniques on efficiency and quality will be
considered. Due to the limited scope of this paper however, only generalized net analyses of ethanol
and biodiesel production will be considered. The production of ethanol requires one of two source
materials, cellulose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important similarity between production of biodiesel and production of ethanol is that at some
point during processing both systems require an input of either fossil, hydro, electric, solar, or wind
energy. Thus, in order to determine if the use of biofuels for mobile transportation purposes is more
efficient than using fossil fuels, net energy analyses must be considered (Malca and Freire, 2006).
It is significant to note that net energy analyses of both types of biofuels will differ based on source
matter, differential processing technologies, crop production techniques, and the amount of biofuel
being utilized. For example, bioethanol that is produced from wheat has a greater energy renewability
efficiency value (ERenEF) (48%) than does ethanol produced from corn. ERenEF measures the
fraction of final fuel energy obtained from renewable resources (Maca and Freire, 2006). This
indicates that a greater percentage of the energy from wheat based ethanol is renewable, as compared
to energy from corn based ethanol.
Similarly, different processing technologies affect the energy renewability efficiency of ethanol. The
use of ethyl tertiary butyl ether as a fuel oxygenate will increase an ERenEF when compared with the
use of methyl tertiary butyl ether is as a fuel oxygenate. Different crop production techniques (e.g. no

Themes In Purple Hibiscus
In American culture there are an abundance of actors, artists, and musicians that are popular even
though they do not carry out acceptable decisions. This relates to the book Purple Hibiscus by
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, were one of the themes is how fame does not dictate personal worth. The
book shows this through the conflict of Papa and his family, who he abuses constantly, the character
Papa Nnukwu, and the Missal symbol.
The conflict between Papa and his family showed fame did not dictate Papa s personal worth. In
Purple Hibiscus Papa is considered by the people around him to be a well respected individual, and is

of person to commit violent acts against his family. In the first part of the book Mama is pregnant
again after many miscarriages. After mass their whole family decides to visit Father Benedict like they
normally do. Since Mama is pregnant, she feels sick and might throw up, she would like to stay in the
car. She voices this to Papa who is upset by her decision to do so. She finally agrees to go in so she
doesn t make Papa upset. Later Papa is still upset by this and beats her, Mama is slung over his
shoulder like the jute sacks of rice his factory workers bought in bulk at the Seme Border, (Kambili

against family, or anyone, is not morally right. Another example

The Period between 1820 and 1840 in the United States
The period between 1820 and 1840 was a highly changing period for politics in the United States. The
passing of the Federalist Party ended the two party system that also included the Democratic
Republicans. The Era of Good Feelings was ushered in and campaigns and elections hereon out were
changed drastically. Campaigns, running mates, and an increase in suffrage especially transformed the
elections in 1824, 1828, 1832, 1836, and 1840.
The period between 1816 and 1824 is commonly and wrongly labeled the Era of Good Feelings
because of the single party politics that took place in the United States. The Democratic Republicans,
led by James Monroe, were the only political party at the time. There was far less voter tension
because there was only one party running. However, Martin Van Buren (Document C) was against the
single party politics and argued that having two parties competing against each other would be
beneficial and desirable. He writes to Thomas Ritchie that the revival of old party distinctions would
be highly salutary and beneficial to the country. Van Buren believed that it would unite the Southern
planters with the Republicans of the North. In 1824 however, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Clay
teamed up to defeat the man who had garnered the most votes by any individual. The plan worked and
the two won the presidency. It was dubbed as the Corrupt Bargain because the two had stolen the
presidency from Jackson.

How Did Classical Music Influence Mozart s Life
Most people, when they hear the first notes of Symphony No. 40 in g minor, instantly recognize that it
was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but if they hear the name Donna Elvira, a strong female
opera character, Mozart s name doesn t exactly come to mind. The Classical age, when Mozart lived,
was filled with many incredible composers and was heavily influenced by the Catholic church. Many
people influenced Mozart s life but three of the most impactful people or groups were his family,
Haydn and various members of royalty that he encountered. Mozart impacted almost every kind of
music, but the two that he arguably changed the most are opera and spiritual music. Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart lived in Austria during the Classical period, a time when the Catholic church was
influential; educated by his father and Haydn, he became arguably the world s best ... Show more

The Classical Age of music lasted from 1750 to 1820. The middle of the eighteenth century witnessed
perhaps the most comprehensive change that has ever taken place in the history of Western music.
This quote, stated by F.E. Kirby, shows how revolutionary the classical music was at the time. This
change in music history led to some of the most revolutionary music in history. This quote claims that
classical music was a large impact on the rest of the music in music history. The Classical age was
when the Baroque style of music, very complicated and many melodies at once, slowly changed into
the Classical style, a more formal and graceful style of music. Over the course of the Classical era the
music became more complex and led into the Romantic Era. During the Classical Age of Music there
were many influences on the people and music that lived and were composed, one of the main

Analysis Of The NBA Finalss
The Marquee match up in the 2017 NBA Finals will surround Lebron James vs. Stephen Curry.
Despite not matching up positions wise, James and Curry will meet in their third consecutive NBA
Finals, having split the pair. Just like in a good ol fashion game of 1 on 1, the third game decides the
tie break. Positions wise, James and Kevin Durant will be the main story of the finals with Curry and
Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up is Klay Thompson
and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a traditional big 3. Contrary to
popular belief, a big 4 is not what the Warriors have had throughout these playoffs. In the postseason,
Klay Thompson has averaged a meager 14.4 points per ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but rather in
their confidence. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson s seems to be
at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense differ,
however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35. Thompson is looked upon to do
more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team s best
perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it is
J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for
Smith in the event of lackluster play. The addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2
guard spot, with a deadeye three point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in
the long ball department. A defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their
disposal. A great defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, Shump often times has a
sporadic offensive game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden.
Looked upon to be that fourth scorer for Cleveland s front line, Smith will have to come into the
lineup prepared to play smart above all things, and execute at an efficient rate. The Warriors also have
flexibility and

The Importance Of Effective Teaching Practices Essay
Demonstrating Effective Teaching Practices Criterion two of the Teacher and Principal Evaluation
Program is Demonstrating Effective Teaching Practices (CEL 5D+, 2014, p.3). The focal point of this
criterion is developing teaching practices that engage all or most students. Implementing effective
teaching practices positively affects students in a variety of ways. It allows students to learn the
necessary skills for them to be independent lifelong learners, helps them develop a deeper
understanding and meaning of texts, find solutions to real world problems, increase comprehension,
thinking and reasoning skills as well as increases achievement (Alozie Mitchell, 2014; Chun Jang,
2012; Murphy, Wilkinson, Soter, Hennessey, Alexander, 2009; Ong, Hart, Chen, 2016; Patrick, Ryan
and Kaplan, 2007; Van de Pol, Volman, Oort, Beishuizen, 2015). Criterion two includes four sub
criterions. This section will provide a description and empirical evidence to support the following four
sub criterions: quality of questioning, expectation and support and opportunity for participation and
meaning making, substance of student talk and finally, scaffolding tasks. Quality of Questioning The
first component of the second criterion is quality of questioning (CEL 5D+, 2014). In order for
teachers to become proficient in this area they must frequently ask[s] questions to probe and deepen
students understanding (CEL 5D+, 2014, p.3). This component also includes continually helping

Sports And The National Football League
Introduction
There are currently four major professional athletic leagues in America: the National Football League
(NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National
Hockey League (NHL). When fans watch their home teams play, it brings great pleasure and
excitement to those who love sports, especially when their home team wins a game. Even if they do
not win, fans will stick by their teams. Local businesses go great lengths to show support for their
local teams. For example, the Reunion Tower in Dallas changes its light colors to support the local
teams on game days. Sports also have a way of connecting fans with places as they cheer for a
touchdown, homerun, or goal at public restaurants and bars. Because team owners are aware that pro
sports play an important role in American society, they brainstorm for new ways to earn additional
income besides selling merchandise and tickets. Now, Sports team owners want to build new state of
the art arenas with premium seats, suites, clubs, and bars to obtain more revenue. The only thing is,
they are not the only ones paying for it. It has become more and more popular in America for
taxpayers to fund renovated or new professional sports arenas located in their cities. However, one
question that ponders the mind of taxpayers is, should the public have to fund the construction of a
renovated or new sports arena in their town? According to Pacific Standards magazine, Over the past
20 years,

Performance Evaluation Of Hybrid Air Conditioning System
In hot and humid climate where simple vapor compression system does not perform well, desiccant
based air conditioning system can do better since it is capable to overcome the bulk of moisture i.e.
latent load. However, removing the moisture from the air at the cost of sensible load, it increases due
to heating of the air. This paper represents the Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Air Conditioning
system using Indirect Evaporative Cooling Approach. The experimentation has been done with
various cycle of operation viz. ventilation, mixed, with different dessicant materials and dessicant
wheel speed. In desiccant wheel, if the regeneration temperature increases, the loads gets completely
separated, thereby performance of cooling coil improves a lot i.e. 70% to 80%. However, system
performance decreases due to increased power at higher regeneration temperature and the latent load
does not get reduced in the same proportionate. Performance of cooling coil is significantly governed
by latent load. Dehumidification is more at low humidity and it decreases with increasing regeneration
temperature. Hybrid air conditioning can be a good option when the humidity level is high.
Index Terms Evaporative cooling, humidifier, air conditioining
I. INTRODUCTION The indirect evaporative cooling works on the principle that when water
evaporates it carries out the heat. The heat is exchange on the set of polymer plates called as cross

The Garment and Textile Industry in Bangladesh Essay
Case 3
Professor
September 3, 2014
Bangladesh is a south Asian country and has an approximate population reaching 164 million. The
manufacturing industry is what Bangladesh is known for. That industry also accounted for almost 12%
of GDP in 2009 and 2010 with employing over four million people (The Bangladesh Accord
Foundation, 2014). The labor force is made up of young, urbanizing, mainly women. Bangladesh
accounts for approximately 78% total exports (The Bangladesh Accord Foundation, 2014), which is
second to China.
The cost is kept low with labor and the production. This helps competing in the export trading world. I

Bilateral agreements with 28 countries and Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) of the EU are
key reasons for Bangladesh RMG products having access to global markets (Board of Investment
Bangladesh, 2012).
Best alternative
The best alternative would be improve the infrastructure, and increase the price of exporting, but still
lower than any other country. Bangladesh would make a larger profit and could put more money on
fixed and creating the ports and roads which in return will make it easier for the buying countries. If
the prices continue to stay low, the country may not have enough money for infrastructure.
Bangladesh would have more money to help with the electricity outages which can also help business
buy producing more and exporting more.
Implementation plan The implementation would be analyzing the competitions textile export prices,
and then increase the price to keep it right below the competition. This will allow Bangladesh to gain
more profit and place that into infrastructure. They would also want to focus on the electricity so labor
improves and more textiles can be made. This plan will allow for easier flowing importing and most
importantly exporting. This will also create a better working environment in the textile mills and will
create more production.

shuffled into the insanity that often accompanies stardom.
New Jersey based clinical psychologist Eileen Kennedy Moore tells us that Childhood is about finding
out who you are and being able to relate to others, and those things are harder to learn when you are
famous. That amount of public scrutiny makes it hard on kids to do that. They can t mess up. So they
have to adopt a very self assured, precocious identity very quickly, (Freydkin, 2013) Amanda

Knee Injury Research Paper
Athletes Suffering from Knee Injuries are Opting for Cold Laser Therapy over Knee Surgery
By Juliet Peters
Aug 22, 2011
A knee injury can be a painful and debilitating setback for anyone, however for athletes experiencing
knee problems it can be a deal breaker that threatens to take them out the game. This is why many
professional athletes are opting to treat their knee injuries with cold laser therapy rather than go
through traditional knee surgery. Unfortunately, the athletes who rely on their knees the most are also
the ones who are prone to knee injuries. Knee damage is extremely common in many sports,
especially long distance running, competitive cycling, basketball, tennis, volleyball, skiing and weight
lifting. Most athletes training ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why today s athletes are turning to cold laser therapy to treat knee injuries rather than undergo
knee surgery. They realize arthroscopic knee surgery is invasive and doesn t work most of the time,
and often leaves athletes dealing with the effects of less cartilage, and more arthritis in the knee. In
addition, knee replacements for young athletes aren t really an option because they typically should
only be performed on patients sixty five and older due to the lifespan of the prosthetic. Another reason
athletes make the decision to have cold laser therapy over knee surgery is the fact that there is a long
period of downtime after the surgery that would take them away from training for their sport. Cold
laser therapy or low level laser therapy is an approved method of treatment by the U.S Food and Drug
Administration, and it is primarily used to relieve pain and the debilitating inflammation resulting
from tendonitis, arthritis or a torn meniscus. It also helps speed up the healing process so that athletes
can get back to their sport quicker. Cold laser therapy is the number one choice among athletes to
rehabilitate knee injuries because this noninvasive treatment provides them with safe, livable solutions
for pain relief and allows them to get back to doing what they love without any

  • 2. Poverty In Detroit Research Paper Poverty in Detroit Being home to Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, Detroit was the nation s auto industry capital in the 1950s ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). The city was thriving, bringing in more income and more people each year, which led to Detroit s expansion and population peak becoming the 4th largest city in America. But if the city was doing so well, then what caused such an economic downfall to put them in the impoverished state they are facing today? Most of Detroit s economic downfall was because of the reliance on a single industry, which at the time was the auto industry ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Although this industry was thriving in every way possible, the city became too reliant on it because when the auto industry left Detroit, the economy made a dramatic decrease. While the auto industry was still there, the city ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because many people abandoned their homes, the city now has fewer tax payers, and many vacant homes. This task to shrink the city would be easier if these abandoned homes were next to each other in convenient chunks, but it appears that Detroit is not so lucky, for the abandoned homes are spread out all across the city making any efforts to shrink the city extremely difficult ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Another trial that the city faces is the development of the children (Bouffard, Karen). More than 59% of the children in Detroit live below the poverty line (Bouffard, Karen). However, there is good news in the midst of all this bad; Bill Ballmer, owner of the L.A. clippers, grew up in Detroit and is now focusing on helping Detroit s economy, specifically the children ( Letter: Ending Poverty in Detroit ). He is doing so by opening an office in Detroit that focuses on fighting poverty and enhancing the development of Detroit s youth ( Letter: Ending Poverty in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of them being explorers of Missouri and sharing love for the land. Though they were both explorers, they still resided very different lifestyles. Bourgmont was an entire life ahead of Boone. Bourgmont was considered an outlaw when he first became the explorer of the Missouri River basin while Boone was thought more of as a hero. Also, because he was the leader of this company, Trudeau would grant a thousand units of land to Boone for him and the families that were settling under his omens. In developing countries like India, accident falls are the main cause of dental trauma and anterior teeth are frequently affected10.The treatment options are decided by the position of the fracture line, length of the remaining root segment and the presence or absence of a coronal segment. The chances of healing with calcified tissue is poorest in cervical third fractures.1,11 If the fracture line extends below the level of the alveolar bone crest and the apical root segment has sufficient length, the treatment alternatives are crown lengthening, orthodontic extrusion, reattachment, post crown and extraction. Even enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has evidently demonstrated the stimulatory effect of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate on the production of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP 2) and TGF 1 by fibroblasts of human periodontium18 The present case report concluded that composite reinforced fiber post used with white Mineral Trioxide Aggregate for reattachment of mobile coronal segment was observed successful. Jetblue JetBlue Beginnings and Operational Methods Steve Brindza Ohio Dominican University JetBlue Beginnings and Operational Methods This section details the history of JetBlue, focusing on the activities of founder, David Neeleman. JetBlue Airways, based in Forest Hills, New York, was founded in February, 1999, by David Neeleman, the son of Mormon missionaries. He was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil, but raised in a tightly knit Mormon family (Gajilan, 2003). Similarly, Neeleman investigated meal service and found that customers would be satisfied with light snacks and sodas in lieu of lunch and dinner entrees. JetBlue saved roughly $3 per passenger by cutting out meal service (Barney and Hesterly, 2010), but selected premier label snacks, such as Terra Blue potato chips (Gajilan, 2003). The notable cost saver was utilizing flight crews to clean airline cabins after each flight, which was inspired by the similar team player culture found at Southwest. Special cleaning crews were not needed, and JetBlue was able to speed airplane turnaround time to 35 minutes. This number was substantially below the industry average of one hour, and the quicker turnaround was implemented largely to sell more flights daily (Gajilan, 2003). Neeleman utilized his knowledge of electronic ticketing and Internet based reservations to further reduce staff engaging in customer transactions. A major operational cost saving involved entering the major air industry with a new fleet of Airbus aircraft. Although European made, Airbus was chosen due to their fuel efficiency, easier maintenance, and five year warranty (Gajilan, 2003). Neeleman realized that quick turnaround time was a crucial factor in maximizing profits by simply keeping the new planes in the air longer than the competition. Because JetBlue worked largely out of secondary airports (Midway vs. O Hare), its flights avoided more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Corrections System When it comes to corrections, it is clear what their mission is and that is to incarcerate criminals, however it also ensures that those incarcerated receive treatment to prepare them for reintegration and reentry into society. Ever since the creation of prisons, some wonder how we managed to survive without them in the past. Unfortunately, we do have neither the resources nor the capital to incarcerate all who chose to engage in criminal behavior. Utilizing other programs like probation are needed in order to accommodate those who wish to offend. The public is concerned because; some of those offenders will end up living among us in our neighborhoods. It appears like the Supreme Court officials have forgotten that the offenders that they are releasing are criminals. Why are these officials willing to place a large amount of these offenders that were convicted by the courts back into society and jeopardize our public safety? I am concerned that due to the high case load our probation and parole officers face that many of these offenders will go unsupervised. Fortunately, our corrections system still continues to hire new officer to help with probation and parole which are the two major programs that track and ensure most of these offenders are being supervised and they also help with prison overcrowding. Louise Erdrich s Tracks Essay example Louise Erdrich s Tracks In Louise Erdrich s Tracks ;, the readers discovers by the second chapter that there are two narrators, Nanapush and Pauline Puyat. This method of having two narrators telling their stories alternately could be at first confusing, especially if the readers hasn t been briefed about it or hasn t read a synopsis of it. Traditionally, there is one narrator in the story, but Erdrich does an effective and spectacular job in combining Nanapush and Pauline s stories. It is so well written that one might question as he or she reads who is the principal character in this story? Without the nucleus of an atom, there wouldn t be an atom; just as if there were no Fleur, the two narrators wouldn t have someone to focus on. On the other hand, if the atom were missing some electrons or protons, there would be an imbalance, but there would still be some form of an atom. In other words, each narrator s story can be considered a separate entity. It might not be as complete if the two stories were together, but because each story has a subject, a motivation and a conclusion. It can survive on its own. But, because of Fleur s importance in both stories, she cannot be excluded from either story without afflicting it detrimentally. If we relate this to the novel and eliminate Pauline and her story, we still have Nanapush telling the history of Fleur and the Chippewa s to Lulu. However, what is the significance of Nanapush telling Lulu about the history of both her tribe and her mother? The reasons are two fold. First, to reunite Lulu and her mother, Fleur. • 12. Effects of pH on Enzyme Activity Aim To investigate the effects of pH on enzyme activity Research question To what will pH levels 1,7,12 affect the rate at which liver catalase catalyzes the decomposition of 10ml of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to water (H2O) and oxygen (O2) exemplified by the volume of foam reached in 1 minute Hypothesis Since the optimum pH of liver catalase is approximately 7. I expect the greatest volume of foam to be achieved at pH of 7 because it is the optimum pH of liver catalase. I also expect to see lower maximum volumes of foam in pHs 1 and 12 Variables INDEPENDENT VARIABLE pH (1,7,12) (acidic pHs will be made by diluting concentrated HCL, alkaline pHs will be made by diluting concentrated NaOH and a neutral pH will come from distilled water alone) DEPENDANT VARIABLE Volume of foam (when H2O2 decomposes it forms H2O and O2 when the oxygen combines with the foaming agent it produces foam ) Reaction: H2O2(aq) → H2O (l) + O2 (g) Controlled variables What is controlled Method of control Why it is controlled Temperature Temperature will be controlled but turning of the AC and the fans closing the windows and the door during the experiment, also a insulating mat will be placed underneath the reaction vessel Temperature must be controlled as it has a capability to affect the rate at which the enzyme will catalyze a reaction. • 13. The Difference Between Tangled and Rapunzel The Short Story Tangled In many fairy tales, there is always a damsel in distress that is beautiful and the male character always falls in love with her. In Rapunzel the short story, Rapunzel is put into a tower and lives there most of her young life by her mother before her prince comes to recuse her. The difference between Tangled and Rapunzel the short story is that, Rapunzel is the princess and her prince is actually a thief, which ends up falling in love with her. So ingrained is the image of women s beauty in fairy tales that it is difficult to imagine any that do not highlight and glorify it. (722). Therefore, each story uses beauty to draw in a bigger audience because no one wants to see an ugly duckling. This is how the media portrays women today, that they should be skinny and beautiful and if they are not then no one will want to be like them; the young beautiful women get more rewards. What that shows girls is that they must be a fairy tale character just to be noticed, but what they do not understand is how naïve Rapunzel is to her surroundings because mother Gothel will not let her out of the tower. Since Rapunzel has only been around her mother, she has no concept of the outside world and the people in it. Rapunzel is naïve and does not want to disobey her mother, but wants to see the floating lanterns for her birthday. Rapunzel is also selfless and does not want to disappoint her mother, but she still craves the outside world. • 14. Analysis Of We Need To Talk About Kevin I agree with this statement because subtle conflict creates rising tension which helps to create the drama of a text. We Need to Talk about Kevin (2011), directed by Lynne Ramsay, is a film set in New York from 1900 s 2001 about a woman, Eva Katchadourian, who encounters her past life elliptically leading up to her sons massacre. Through the themes of guilt, motherhood and nature versus nurture, we are able to truly experience the drama of the film through techniques such as cinematography, colour palette and dialogue. The drama of We Need to Talk about Kevin is developed throughout the film in many scenes that create rising tension leading up to the climactic point. In the scene where Eva is in a prenatal class, a wide shot helps us to recognise that she is very melancholic and withdrawn from the other pregnant women surrounding her. The close up shots of the surrounding women s babies while Eva still has her shirt on is interpreted as Eva coming to terms with her loss of independence and freedom. This scene creates an effect of misery and loathing through the lighting technique. It is very dark and not very colourful or full of life like it should be. This scene was explored by viewers to see that Eva was miserable without her independence ad that in fact she did not want to become a mother. It also helps viewers to understand that motherhood isn t for everybody but societal pressure makes women think that we have to have babies or we are not giving back to the ... Essay On Truman s Controversial Decision On August 6th, 1945, a US B 29 bomber took off from an air base, carrying a package that would forever change the nature of war and be a subject of debate throughout the rest of the century. At approximately 9:15am, a large, mushroom shaped cloud rose over Hiroshima, Japan. The first atomic bomb had been used in combat. The surrender of Japan a week later marked the end of a long struggle for freedom, democracy, and peace. At the same time, it marked a change in the nature of war. American President Harry Truman s controversial decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan ended the Second World War and began the nuclear age. Since the end of the war, Truman s decision has been a subject of debate, largely due to the high civilian death toll that resulted from the bombings. However, the context of the time period and the need to end the Second World War made the use of the nuclear weapons a necessary action to force the surrender of Japan. Truman s decision to use the atomic bomb against Japan was justified by the historical context of the Second World War and Japan s refusal to surrender unconditionally. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified in the historical context of the Second World War. During this time period, the world abandoned morality in a ... City of fortune does exactly that by showing how Venice fell in power during the 1400 s. In a very similar regard a book called Lords of the Sea did the same thing. They both focused on broad events, cultural interactions, and great peoples to get their point across. By comparing how they both approach the same the same sort of topic, one can get an idea of how well City of Fortune completes its goal of showing a good representation of the 1400 s. Like in lords of the sea, City of fortune does not focus on the small things. Aside from a few first person accounts most of the book is based on the larger details of the city. The author does this to not give an impression of what the people were like, but to show how empires in general acted against each other. A prestige and unique game that is played all over the world but most beloved in the United States, hence, why people refer to it as the national pastime due to its tradition and popularity. Baseball consists of many complex rules and an extended history. In order for one to fall in love with the game such as America has, one must understand the rules and history of baseball. Baseball originates back to 1800s, from a man named Abner Doubleday, who was a Union Officer during the American Civil War. Some say he invented the game in Cooperstown, New York, in 1839. There s limited amount of information and facts on Doubleday being the original creator of the game. A more accurate response to the question of how baseball originates would be that many scholars believe that baseball was invented way before we can tell. In ancient cultures, such as those of the Persians and Egyptians, there is evidence of games being played with balls and sticks. Games similar to baseball continued to be played by civilizations throughout history but it was not until the early 1600s that Europeans first brought games involving a ball and a stick to the Americas. There were a number of various games played with a ball and a stick but the one that most resembled baseball was an English game called Rounders. • 19. Essay Biodiesel vs. Ethanol Biodiesel vs. Ethanol Both biodiesel and ethanol are derivatives of biomass that have been processed to create a liquid biofuel. Both types of biofuels have been touted as secure and environmentally safe alternatives to fossil fuels, however the research verifying these claims is extensive but often contradicting. In the following paper, the efficiency and quality of the two types of biofuel will be discussed. The effects of variables such as source materials and production techniques on efficiency and quality will be considered. Due to the limited scope of this paper however, only generalized net analyses of ethanol and biodiesel production will be considered. The production of ethanol requires one of two source materials, cellulose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An important similarity between production of biodiesel and production of ethanol is that at some point during processing both systems require an input of either fossil, hydro, electric, solar, or wind energy. Thus, in order to determine if the use of biofuels for mobile transportation purposes is more efficient than using fossil fuels, net energy analyses must be considered (Malca and Freire, 2006). It is significant to note that net energy analyses of both types of biofuels will differ based on source matter, differential processing technologies, crop production techniques, and the amount of biofuel being utilized. For example, bioethanol that is produced from wheat has a greater energy renewability efficiency value (ERenEF) (48%) than does ethanol produced from corn. ERenEF measures the fraction of final fuel energy obtained from renewable resources (Maca and Freire, 2006). This indicates that a greater percentage of the energy from wheat based ethanol is renewable, as compared to energy from corn based ethanol. Similarly, different processing technologies affect the energy renewability efficiency of ethanol. The use of ethyl tertiary butyl ether as a fuel oxygenate will increase an ERenEF when compared with the use of methyl tertiary butyl ether is as a fuel oxygenate. This relates to the book Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, were one of the themes is how fame does not dictate personal worth. The book shows this through the conflict of Papa and his family, who he abuses constantly, the character Papa Nnukwu, and the Missal symbol. The conflict between Papa and his family showed fame did not dictate Papa s personal worth. In Purple Hibiscus Papa is considered by the people around him to be a well respected individual, and is praised by everyone to for his contributions to the community. It is presumed he would not be the type of person to commit violent acts against his family. In the first part of the book Mama is pregnant again after many miscarriages. After mass their whole family decides to visit Father Benedict like they normally do. Since Mama is pregnant, she feels sick and might throw up, she would like to stay in the car. She voices this to Papa who is upset by her decision to do so. She finally agrees to go in so she doesn t make Papa upset. Later Papa is still upset by this and beats her, Mama is slung over his shoulder like the jute sacks of rice his factory workers bought in bulk at the Seme Border, (Kambili 33). The passing of the Federalist Party ended the two party system that also included the Democratic Republicans. The Era of Good Feelings was ushered in and campaigns and elections hereon out were changed drastically. Campaigns, running mates, and an increase in suffrage especially transformed the elections in 1824, 1828, 1832, 1836, and 1840. The period between 1816 and 1824 is commonly and wrongly labeled the Era of Good Feelings because of the single party politics that took place in the United States. The Democratic Republicans, led by James Monroe, were the only political party at the time. There was far less voter tension because there was only one party running. However, Martin Van Buren (Document C) was against the single party politics and argued that having two parties competing against each other would be beneficial and desirable. He writes to Thomas Ritchie that the revival of old party distinctions would be highly salutary and beneficial to the country. Van Buren believed that it would unite the Southern planters with the Republicans of the North. In 1824 however, John Quincy Adams, and Henry Clay teamed up to defeat the man who had garnered the most votes by any individual. The plan worked and the two won the presidency. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson s seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35. Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team s best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. Performance Evaluation Of Hybrid Air Conditioning System In hot and humid climate where simple vapor compression system does not perform well, desiccant based air conditioning system can do better since it is capable to overcome the bulk of moisture i.e. latent load. However, removing the moisture from the air at the cost of sensible load, it increases due to heating of the air. This paper represents the Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Air Conditioning system using Indirect Evaporative Cooling Approach. The experimentation has been done with various cycle of operation viz. ventilation, mixed, with different dessicant materials and dessicant wheel speed. In desiccant wheel, if the regeneration temperature increases, the loads gets completely separated, thereby performance of cooling coil improves a lot i.e. 70% to 80%. However, system performance decreases due to increased power at higher regeneration temperature and the latent load does not get reduced in the same proportionate. Performance of cooling coil is significantly governed by latent load. Dehumidification is more at low humidity and it decreases with increasing regeneration temperature. Hybrid air conditioning can be a good option when the humidity level is high. Index Terms Evaporative cooling, humidifier, air conditioining I. They realize arthroscopic knee surgery is invasive and doesn t work most of the time, and often leaves athletes dealing with the effects of less cartilage, and more arthritis in the knee. In addition, knee replacements for young athletes aren t really an option because they typically should only be performed on patients sixty five and older due to the lifespan of the prosthetic. Another reason athletes make the decision to have cold laser therapy over knee surgery is the fact that there is a long period of downtime after the surgery that would take them away from training for their sport. Cold laser therapy or low level laser therapy is an approved method of treatment by the U.S Food and Drug Administration, and it is primarily used to relieve pain and the debilitating inflammation resulting from tendonitis, arthritis or a torn meniscus.
