Introduction. Erik Erickson’S Interest In How One’S...
Introduction Erik Erickson s interest in how one s environment and social interaction drives human
behavior and the development of personality, led him to create the psychosocial theory, Eight Stages
of Man. Erikson s final four stages of psychosocial development describes a person s development
from adolescence to late adulthood. This paper will analyze the final four stages of development,
which includes: Adolescence, Young Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, and Late Adulthood. However,
one of the major criticisms of the stage theories is that they do not equally apply to all individuals.
Each stage of development looks different depending on a person s culture, gender, environment, etc.
This paper will analyze how each stage is impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
22). This stage may also be impacted by a person s sexual identity. According to Levy (2009),
sexual identity is not simple or clean cut and does not stand alone. It intersects with other aspects of
identity such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, education, and so forth (p. 982). What is
considered normal sexual behavior does not constitute homosexuality. Therefore, adolescents who are
struggling with their sexuality, may run into an identity crisis by trying to find themselves while trying
to appeal to societal norms. While the pressure to conform to the heterosexual norm, gays and lesbians
may struggle with their same sex desires. Further, with this schism between their desires, behaviors,
and identities, individuals may experience isolation, low self esteem, depression, and anger (Levy,
2009, p. 983). Unsuccessful resolution of this crisis may lead to role confusion or identity diffusion
(Robins et. all, 2012, p. 215). According to Robins et. Al (2012), youths who emerge with a strong
sense of identity and individuality gain a lasting ego quality of fidelity, or freely pledged loyalties (p.
215).
Intimacy Vs. Isolation Erik Erikson s sixth stag of psychosocial development is Young Adulthood
(early to late 20s). Erikson describes this stage as the young adult develops ability to give and receive
love;

The Role Of Aggression In Hitchcock s Vertigo
Recently, an incredible amount of attention has been drawn to female survivors of intimate abuse. It
appears though little attention has been paid to why so many women have been assaulted. With this in
mind, I choose to take a closer look at how gendered violence functions in literature and in film.
Furthermore, I wish to discuss how insecurity instigates aggression from male lead characters in
Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo and Leo Tolstoy s The Kreutzer Sonata as a lens for understanding the
figurative sexual trauma that female lead characters experience in these works. In an attempt to better
understand the relationship between men s physical pleasure and women s physical pain, I asked a
main research question: How does aggression function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following Scottie strictly selecting a suit for Judy, he singles out hair styles and makeup for Judy at a
salon. What shade of blonde Judy wants on her hair and what amount of makeup Judy wants on her
face, are ignored possibly not even asked for in this scene. In addition, the salon operator assures
Scottie about his desires being fulfilled by saying, Yes, sir. We know what you want. (Hitchcock
1:50:00 1:52:33) Scottie s authority is emphasized as greater that that of Judy s through her agency
being unknown throughout this scene. His power is further highlighted when Judy returns from the
salon to her apartment. Though Judy is mostly transformed as Scottie desires, he is not satisfied. The
styling of Judy s hair does not match the styling Scottie wants to see; so, Scottie abruptly takes Judy s
hair into his hands and arranges it as her wants showcasing no consent or concern for Judy s desires
(Hitchcock 1:54:00 1:56:00). Scottie is oblivious to Judy s frightened and angered response to him
arranging her hair. He, instead, is focused on perfecting the Judy before him to the Judy in his mind
ignoring her agency again through patriarchal domination (Fabe 363). Similar to when in the
department store, Scottie is navigating his insecurities while transforming Judy, as Marilyn Fabe
argues in Mourning Vertigo ; but, the policing in these scenes is intensified through Scottie taking the
transformation into his own hands. This investment in Judy s actions and image continues to increase

Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary
Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire
By: Deonna Weil Vance
History 111 World Civilization before 1650
Professor Joseph Esposito
August 20, 2014
In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how
Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity
developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the
Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination,
and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The
development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant.
When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel.
These twelve tribes were originally ruled by a series of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first stage created Jewish Christians whom attended a Jewish synagogue with Jewish leadership.
The difference between the Jews and the Jewish Christians was that the Jewish Christians believed
Jesus was their savior. The second stage brought on changes to their belief system and biblical texts.
After branching out and away from Judaism, Christianity created the New Testament. This is very
different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their
own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians
believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the
original ways from the Old Testament. This created different types of Christianity such as Roman
Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, etcetera. Christians believed Jesus was their savior, which separated
them from Judaism. Judaism does not recognize that their Messiah has come, and would not recognize
Jesus as G ds Son. (Murray

Example Of Observation Of Basketball
For my second observation I went back to my elementary school from when I was younger and
observed a second grade physical education class and their teacher Mrs. McFarland. It was a rainy day
so the lesson was held in the cafeteria. I observed Mrs. McFarland teach the first lesson of basketball
to her class, before class she told me that this would be the first lesson of a 6 part lesson. When the
students walked into the cafeteria they immediately sat down in their assigned spots on the floor, Mrs.
McFarland stood up at the front of the room by the stage area and all the students. When all the
students were seated Mrs. McFarland gave a very brief explanation on what the students would be
doing that day and then they started with a warm up. During the warm up the students started out
galloping around the room to music and when the music stop she would shout of jumping jacks and
the students would do jumping jacks until the music came back on. They did this warm up for about 5
minutes and then went back to their spots and sat down. Mrs. McFarland went back to the front of the
cafeteria and began to talk to the students about what they would be doing. She gave a demonstration
of the triple threat position and then asked the students some questions about what they saw her just
do. Next, she had the children grab their our balls and come back to their spot so that they could
practice some ball handling drills. They used their finger tips to ping pong the ball from hand to hand,

Joseph Pierce Research Paper
Joseph pierce is an inventor who created the indoor snow machine. No mess just touchable white
snow that leaves no water. Really it is an amazing piece of work. There is only one problem, well for
now. That is that Joseph is only 9 years old. Joseph is walking to school with his two friends Emily
and Alex in the land of Pictopia. Pictopia is a hidden underwater continent humans made after the
icebergs melted and the ozone was destroyed. Joseph is an A student who is known by everyone in the
school mostly because he spread the word that he is going to make it snow at the winter festival. Since
they are located under water they don t have snow but Joseph can make it possible for this generation
and many more to see the white wonder. The machine works by taking water from surrounding the

Tay Sachs Essay
Imagine that there is a disease that is terrible and causes trouble for you every day, there is no cure,
there is only the dragging on of day after day. This is Tay Sachs Disease, it is a disease that is lifelong,
that is, unless it kills you early on in life. This disease has lots of symptoms. These symptoms are a
result of how the disease affects the brain and its functionality. This disease is an inherited disease,
and is known as a serious genetic disease.( Health and Wellness Resource center and Alternative
Health Module ). This disease is a autosomally recessive disease that is caused by a defect in the
HEXA gene which provides instructions for making part of an enzyme called beta hexosaminidase A,
which is critical in the brain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without this enzyme working properly, there will be a toxic buildup of ganglioside in the brain
causing serious and life threatening complications. ( Student Resources in Context Tay Sachs World of

so serious and normally result in the death of the person that has this disease. The person doesn t
necessarily die from the actual disease sometimes, it can actually be from complications caused by
this disease. 1 in 3600 Jewish infants are born with Tay Sachs disease. ( Student Resources in Context

although it may not seem like it, is a autosomally recessive disease that has to be inherited through
parents that either have the disease or are both carriers. Parents can be carriers and not even know it
because this disease is recessive so both recessive alleles have to be present in order for the disease to
show itself. Interestingly, 1 in 27 eastern European Jews are carriers for this disease. ( Student

Human s Obsession with the Pretty One
Chasing Beauty
Sitting in a bar a few nights ago I noticed two women sitting at a table by themselves. It wasn t long
till a group of four guys asked to join them. As the men pulled up chairs they concentrated heavily to
one side of the table. It didn t take long to figure out they were all pining after the more attractive of
the two women. Why does the pretty woman get all the attention and free drinks, and her homely
friend blends into the wallpaper? We all know attractive people get treated better. It s so ingrained in
human evolution to chase after attractive qualities, and it shapes our every day lives.
Advertising is a good example of our affinity for beauty. Magazines, television, billboards, and
Internet pop up ads use attractive people to sell products. We end up chasing products that we believe
will make us healthier, better looking, or covers our physical flaws. They get beautiful models and
actresses to make consumers think the product is what makes the models and actresses attractive. This
tactic is so effective because it plays on our desire to be attractive. The more attractive we are the
better sexual mates we can attract. Martial arts expert Chuck Norris endorses a home workout product
called the Total Gym. We see Chuck Norris using the product in the commercials, yet it had nothing to
do with the level of fitness he achieved. It doesn t matter though. We see the extremely fit man using a
product so we think if we use it as well we to can be in that kind

Theories of Social Phobia
Learning and Cognitive Theories of Social Phobia: Causation,
Maintenance, and Treatment
University Of Newcastle
Social Phobia, also know as Social Anxiety Disorder, affects between 7 13% of individuals in western
society (Furmark, 2002). It usually presents during adolescences and is typically chronic and lifelong
(Veale, 2003). Two theories have been commonly used to explain the development and maintenance of
the phobia: learning theory and cognitive theory. Both theories alone do not provide a comprehensive
treatment plan, however when used in conjunction are much more effective. Cognitive behaviour
therapy (CBT) identifies both behavioural and cognitive aspects of social phobia. By ... Show more

It proposes that fears and behaviours (both rational and irrational) are acquired through associative
learning. Classical conditioning and operant conditioning are the two models used to explain the
acquisition and maintenance of social phobia. Classical (or Pavlovian) conditioning associates a
neutral stimulus with an unconditional stimulus through paired association. A neutral stimulus is an
object or situation that under normal circumstances wouldn t elicit a fearful response (e.g., meeting
with friends). An unconditional stimulus produces an automatic, unconditioned response (e.g.,
sweating or blushing). If the neutral stimulus is continuously paired with an unconditional stimulus it
will elicit the unconditional response without the unconditional stimulus present. The individual has
now been conditioned to view the social situation as threatening as opposed to non threatening.
Based on this model, prolonged repetition of the eliciting stimulus without an aversive outcome
should result in a progressive reduction of the conditioned response. This is called extinction, a
process of reversal that breaks the association. Learning theory proposes that the treatment to social
phobia is exposure, as the client will be exposed to their fear without an adverse outcome, and over
time extinction will take place. However, social phobia is very resistant to extinction, as people often

Individualism And Transcendentalism Similarities
A city and a forest can be completely different, yet they can be of the closest of similarities. However,
transcendentalists believed that the forest is our home and the city is a shamed copy.
Transcendentalism started with Ralph Waldo Emerson. It mainly focused primarily upon being
different from everyone else and also about how nature is the primary source of life. Being out of the
ordinary and looking to nature almost as a godmother are some of the main points of
transcendentalism. The transcendentalists believed that we should not judge ourselves based upon the
ideas of others. Instead, they believed that we should view ourselves primarily through ourselves.
They also believed that nature provides life for us, while song artists today ... Show more content on

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band that made the song known as Under the Bridge. Within this
song, the lead singer sings about how a city takes care of him. While he sings about a city, the song
also infers that it may not be the machines and pollution helping the man, rather it would be the
natural surroundings that help the man. While the singer doesn t point it out in broad daylight,
throughout the whole song the man sings about how the city supports him. Much like how
transcendentalists believed that nature supports us. Transcendentalists would agree with this belief
because they believed that nature provides life for all. Much like how the singer sang about how the
surrounding areas provided for him. While nature provides and has provided much for humans, the
humans themselves have to go into advancements sometimes without the help of nature. But, nature
can provide a lot for the people of earth. Under the Bridge is full of lines explaining a man s
relationship with nature, and it all describes a very important aspect of transcendentalists

Asian Americans often come together to advocate for their community in various ways. For example,

names that tend to make these lists are Constance Wu, Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Steven Yeun, or John

Comparing and Contrasting Liberal, Socialist, and Radical Feminism
In today s society it is nearly impossible to go a day without being subjected to some form of media
that does not marginalize women. The media takes a myriad of forms that include but are not limited
to televisions, phones, and the radio and it is no surprise that the media has a huge impact on society.
Most of the time the media is heralded as a pivotal source of news and entertainment however, many
look down on the media giving it a negative stigma as being biased and dominated by males. Males
are seen as so called experts on talk shows and are the most common voice in radio commercials.

Because Socialist eminism is strongly rooted in the structure of society, it rejects the individualism
and autonomy that Liberal feminists believed in. (14). Socialist Feminists flourished from the 60 s
through the 70 s from an assortment of groups, and was established as a middle group between
Radical feminism and the Liberal left (Enns). In addition to focusing on women s liberation, early
Socialist Feminist targeted race as well as capitalism s exploitation of the working class as important
elements of woman s liberation.
Because Social Feminism bases itself on the oppression of a Capitalistic Society it is no surprise that it
has seminal roots in Marxist theory. Karl Marx, the founding father of Socialism believed that society
is fundamentally constructed from people s relations and the formation of various social classes as
they work to survive. Where Karl Marx focuses on work as the pivotal element in the division of
society, Social feminists view sex as the big divider (Keohane 6). Social feminists view sex as an
important element in the process of shaping and establishing hierarchies. Social Feminists base their
beliefs on the Marxist concept known as Praxis which, when defined, is the requirement for humans
and society as a whole to make the necessary changes in their environment in order survive (Enns).
The praxis according to socialist feminists establishes oppressive gender

Essay Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion Detection Systems
In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the
notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for
intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS
is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS
watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the
system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the
console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. Through

With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port
scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a
promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then
analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not
however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local
traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of
this.
Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a
computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination
of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state
of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or
periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of
the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire.
Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the
protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent or
system monitors the communication protocol between the

Benjamin Banneker Rhetorical Analysis
Benjamin Banneker s Letter to Thomas Jefferson Rhetorical Analysis Being respectful and thoughtful,
Benjamin Banneker addresses the issue of slavery. Throughout the letter, where the son of former
slaves writes to Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Banneker reasons African Americans are equal to white
men, and refers to the mistreatment of slaves by Americans in order to argue that slavery is morally
wrong. First, Benjamin Banneker reasons African Americans are equal to white men in order to argue
that slavery is morally wrong. For example, through the repetition of the word the Sir , Banneker not
only shows respect towards Thomas Jefferson, but portrays himself as someone knowledgeable. This
helps Banneker argue that is slavery is morally wrong because it shatters the notion of African
Americans being inferior to white people due to Banneker, who is an African American, writing a
letter in a dignified manner. Also, it helps the argument by appealing to Thomas Jefferson s ego and
sense of worth. The repetition of sir makes it more difficult for Jefferson to become angry at Banneker
for being insolent because it doesn t antagonize Jefferson, but recognizes the difference in authority
and position between Banneker and Jefferson while showing that Banneker himself, who is an African
American, is capable and educated. Through sentences ... you have mercifully received and that is the
peculiar blessing of heaven , blessings to which you were entitled by nature , and ... benevolence of
the Father of mankind and of equal and impartial distribution of those right... Mr. Banneker appeals to
Jefferson through religion. This religious appeal aids the argument that slavery is wrong because it
works as the premise to a syllogism; God has made all men equal, African Americans and white
people are men, so they are equal. For Jefferson to dispute this argument, he would have to defy the
premise of his own Declaration of Independence ( We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men
are create equal... ) which would mean the loss of the justification Americans had to declare
independence from Great Britain. Also, Banneker speaks to Jefferson s own values as a religious man
by arguing that he is opposing God s goodwill in the

This period dawn the age of European expansion led by England, France, Portugal, and Spain. The

July 29th , 2015 The Challenge is to Persuade
I believe there are parts of our society that have become fractured and divided somewhat beyond
repair and I think that there is an extent to which doing what is needed takes precedent over gaining
the consent to do it. This is what I mean by the challenge is to persuade, I really feel that those people
who have been manipulated into working against their best interest simply need to be persuaded to a
more progressive viewpoint. And I think they need to be persuaded by seeing the benefits of collective
progressive, work, philosophy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can also define the skill as your ability to change the actions or behaviors of other people, or to
encourage the actions and behaviors of others.
In a business setting this would be a manager s ability to get his employees to do their work more
efficiently; in a relationship this would be the influence to gain compromise from your partner,
siblings or children.
In the public this would be your ability to negotiate with strangers and foreigners, to get out of bad
situations or simply to negotiate better positions for yourself.
How the skill could be useful in business
In the work environment you do not always have the decision making autonomy that you need to
make your ideas a priority so the ability to persuade others to endorse or advocate for your ideas is a
valuable skill. When you re working with others, if you ever take on too much work it would be great
to be able to persuade your coworkers to assist you. You may even need to persuade your supervisors
or shareholders to give you more time instead of putting you under more pressure.
If you are responsible for training customer facing employees in your organization not only do you
have to be able to persuade them you need to be able to teach them persuasion in how to work with
your organization s customers. You may also need to persuade coworkers and employees to get them
more motivated and focused on their work.
If you want to grow in your organization you will find yourself constantly persuading the

Samsara By Ron Fricke
Samsara is a film that takes you on a visual tour of countless extravagant places in the world. Samsara
is an extremely unique film, because it showcases a plethora of different cultures, people, and
landscapes, and seasons. Ron Fricke the director of the film wants us to be aware of all the things that
are going around us. Fricke wants to emphasize avoiding all political correctness and views. I think
that is the overall theme of this film is to show the viewers that we do not need the hustle bustle of
everyday life to function. Instead we can focus on the wonderful things that are around us. We can
connect through meditation but meditation does not have to be positive or optimistic. We can find way
to connect and meditate through anything that has meaning to us in our ... Show more content on

One place that stood out to me and really struck me was one of the first scene in the movie. The
Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii really stood out to me first because I really think volcanos are extremely
interesting. However, the aspects that really stuck out to me about this certain volcano and scene was
the fact that is was just free flowing. When you see this volcano from a safe distance or from the film
you see the vibrant color and all the beauty that is possesses. The volcano is recently peaceful while
watching the lava flow freely in the film. The free flowing of the lava can represent many things, but
one thing that I think Fricke may have been trying to prove was that time is like lava, the lava never
stops for anything or anybody. Likewise, time is never ending and it never stops for anything even
though sometimes we wish it would stop for just a moment. Also while looking at the volcano and the
lava flowing we think about the destruction that what appears to be peaceful lava can cause. Just like
in the world we live in today, things that we come in contact with may seem peaceful but underneath
that beauty is

I Am Working With Other Parts Of The Project
One of the lessons that I have learned through my 4+ years of work experience as an EIT is that a
good Engineer must always be aware of the real life system limitations of any project he/she is
involved with. With experience, not only are you able to keep aware of these limitations, but you can
also prepare for them. As Engineers, when we set out to design a product or system, we are working in
a theoretical world with no limitations or constraints. However, out in the real world, there are
numerous constraints and limitations that come into play when we are forced to integrate our design
into a functioning tool. Many times, on large projects, I m working with different groups and
subcontractors. When I release an engineering drawing, I have to understand that it must cooperate
well with other parts of the project. This takes a lot of coordination with different disciplines, and at
times poses limitations on your design that would otherwise not be present. In my experience, I had to
modify my design many times to better suit the overall structure and project requirements. In other
cases, constraints could be brought upon through legal and/or cosmetic means. For example, I have
been involved in projects where I would draft a design which boasts a solid engineering background.
However, for any number of reasons, the client might not necessarily like something and thus the
design must be re suited to that constraint. However, I have also learned to be mindful in this area. If

It is all about the angles and how you work them. Perspective is easily manipulated and we only see

Holden s Red Hunting Hat Analysis
On the departure of childhood innocence and on the brink of adulthood, J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in
the Rye centers around Holden Caufield, who is caught in the ambiguous limbo as a 1950 s teen
between the child and adult world. Stationed in a mental hospital, Holden tells a retrospective story
after his expulsion from Pencey Prep, a school teeming with phonies according to Holden. Holden
tells a journey of him navigating through New York City meeting old friends and acquaintances to
look for a way to preserve innocence, and to look for a remedy in his growing anxiety for his future in
the cruel, phony adult world. Throughout Holden s coming of age journey, Holden s red hunting hat is

Holden is outspoken about his anger and frustrations, but Holden is also a confused teen that is
apprehensive about people s view of him. When describing his hat, Holden subtly divulges his
insecurities when he says, It only cost me a buck. The way I wore it, I swung the old peak around to
the back very corny, I ll admit, but I liked it that way (18). Holden expresses that he has a particular
style of wearing the red hunting hat; he has his own unique and individual identity. However, Holden
knows that his corny and bizarre way of wearing his hat is unfashionable under societal norms.
Therefore, Holden is pressured into doubt and suppressed of his definitive character by the
superficiality and phoniness of adult society. Again, the red hunting hat manifests Holden s
ambivalence about his individuality and character as Holden puts on his red hunting hat after he knew

encountering a person he knows when he his donning his red hunting hat as he fears judgement and
criticism about his unusual sense of style and character. Internally, Holden is insecure and doubtful
about who he is in society so he is cautious in showing his red hunting hat to people. In a metaphorical

In this article, Eaton expresses his personal opinion about the memoir, suggesting that the memoir s
major flaw is its tendency to act as an inspiration for readers and, simultaneously, provide Christian
guidelines to readers way too often. Throughout the review, Eaton points out all the flaws about this

by explicitly stating his main points at the end of every paragraph. Written by Jeffrey Eaton, an Open

Eaton argues, in depth, how the memoir is not very effective in inspiring readers since they, according
to Eaton, cannot take the memoir seriously. In order to convey his point of view, he uses many
methods to do so, such as providing truthful facts, using quotes as evidence, and choosing a particular
writing style for his review. According to Rachel Whittaker, Drew Brees defines what adversity is and
its powerful influence. In her article, she summarizes all the setbacks the athlete had to go through in
both his career and personal life, which helped him become stronger. For example, mentioning how
Brees shoulder injury lead him to the New Orleans Saints and winning the Super Bowl, about
rebuilding New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and discussing his mother s suicide. By providing
Brees insight on these setbacks and quotes about faith, Whittaker depicts Brees as the ideal Christian

Viking Activity in the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Centuries The pagans from the northern regions came

Originating from the sparsely populated, barren and virtually resourceless land of the Scandinavian

Each Viking race, striving to capture the perceived wealth and fertile lands of their European trading
partners, so different to the barren and resourceless peninsulas of Scandinavia, efficiently moved
throughout areas of Europe, violently conquering as they travelled. The Norwegians moved towards
Western Europe, invading countries such as Scotland, Ireland, Greenland, Iceland and Newfoundland.
The Danish invaded to the South, conquering areas such as the Frankish empire, Seville and Southern
Gaul. The Swedish raiders moved towards the East, invading parts of Russia, Constantinople,
Baghdad, and it is suggested moved even as far as Western China. (David M. Wilson, The Vikings and
Their Origins (New York: A W Publishers inc. 1980), 65 71) United by a common Language, the
Scandinavian people are portrayed by history as little more than violent thieves, who used force to
invade Europe, and terrorised the continent for well over a century.
The Viking attacks throughout Europe were perhaps best characterised by two things: the inhumane
violence and savagery of the attacks, and also the swiftness, stealth and incredible mobility of the
people. Many records of Viking attacks create

Lady Eboshi In Princess Mononoke
Throughout the movie Princess Mononoke, Lady Eboshi is portrayed as a negative character.
Although Lady Eboshi actions may come off as negative, I do believe throughout the movie she also
has many positive characteristics. Lady Eboshi has two very different sides to her. On one hand she
cares deeply about the people within her town and has made work for everyone who has been rejected
by society and on the other hand cares very much so about her power and what she can do to get more.
Although Lady Eboshi cares for everyone in her gated community she cares more about the woman
than the men. Throughout the movie there are many examples of Eboshis feminist attitude but a clear
one is the power and work she gives the women within her community.

With a single train ride back to his home, no one in Russia prepared for their governmental system to
completely alter. With the deposition of Czar Nicholas II, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin returns home at the
peak of the Russian conflict and along the way, he composes the ten directives in 1917 called the April
Theses, which the people of Russia eventually follow with the promises of food, land, equality, and
peace, while the Soviets take charge. With the documentation of the April Theses, Lenin soon

Female Genital Circumcision Essay
The process of female genital mutilation (FGM) or female circumcision is served as a ritual practice in
African countries and cultures, yet doctors are faced with an issue of illegality and immorality when

This practice was scene as both sanitary, holy, and if done properly, harmless. This practice became so

They believe it is a time to celebrate. They feel that a FGM will bring fertility, prevent diseases, and
bring a good husband. Some people think as ridiculously as that, a man will die if he touches a clitoris,
a baby will die if its head touches it, or the clitoris will grow into a penis if left untouched.
There are many complications that girls go through because of these procedures. Since the countries in
Africa are so poor, people cannot afford sanitary hospitalization for their practices. Many times an
FGM will be performed with broken glass, or scissors. Their ridiculous beliefs cross an even more
extreme line when they spread raw egg on the female, or animal excrement because they believe it
will help stop the bleeding.
There are very many complications a woman goes through because of these practices. Girls can often

Aids is also often times possible and sometimes even immediate death. Even if women don t have
immediate complications, they will in the future. Many FGMs will result in tearing, which makes it
more likely to receive HIV.
Not only is this process dangerous to one s health, but also it is also demeaning, since it is completely
disregarding a woman as a sexual being. It a major sexual sensation spot, where as on a male penis, no
sexual sensation is removed, in an FGM, it is completely destroyed.

Should Humans Consume Insects As An Alternate Source Of...
Should Humans Consume Insects as an Alternate Source of Food? Intro Cultivating animals and crops
takes countless amount of hours and use an abundance of resources; furthermore, it produces waste
that can be harmful to the environment. The human population is increasing at an ever increasing rate
and scientists all over the world are trying to solve a global issue. It is estimated by the UN that the
population will hit 9.7 billion by 2050; undoubtedly, these inefficient and wasteful processes will not
suffice. What about insects, there are plentiful in supply and are packed with proteins and other
nutrients that the body needs; furthermore, using insects in our main diets will decrease the need for
domesticated animals which causes creates problems for everyone; in contrast to insects, which have
versatile ways for people to choose from, use less resources, and produce less waste. Lastly, if we
decrease the population of insects it will actually benefit society by limiting the amount of infestation
and their effects on crops, trees, etc. (DeFoliart, 1992) (Premalatha, 2011) (Verkerka, Trampera,
Trijpb, Martensa, 2007). This proposal will examine the nutrients, environmental impacts, ethics, and
effectiveness of an insect diet and will then be presented through a tri fold board with clear pictures,

Data Mining of Chemical Analysis for White Wine Quality
Background Wine was once viewed as a luxury good, but now it is increasingly enjoyed by a wider
range of consumers. According to the different qualities, the prices of wines are quite different. So
when the wine sellers buy wines from wine makers, it s important for them to understand the wine
quality, which is in some degrees affected by some chemical attributes. When wine sellers get the
wine samples, it makes difference for them to accurately classify or predict the wine quality and this
will differentiate their profits. So our goal is to model the wine quality based on physicochemical tests
and give the reference for wine sellers to select high, moderate and low qualities of wines. We

Since our goal is to make model to give reference to the 3 categories, we can re defined the categories
into 3 other than 7 and in this way, we expected to gain more reasonable results and give wine sellers
more accurate models to support their decisions to purchase wines from the wine makers. 3.1
Clustering and redefine data set Considering that clustering s goal is to put objects that are similar
together in a cluster, this matches our goal to make three quality categories. So we decided to use
clustering first to explore if the categories can be parted. Since the XLMiner just can run no more than
4000 records for clustering, we need to reduce our data set size to 4000. First, we eliminated the data
outside of 3 stand deviation range; then we found that the quality 5 has about 1800 records which took
nearly a half of all records which spread 7 qualities, so we randomly selected 80% of the quality 5
records and quality 5 s dominant effect would be reduced. In this way the new data set was
determined. After the new data set was decided, we created a new output variable new quality and the
values are 1, 2, and 3, each representing low quality, mid range quality and high quality. The details
are showed as the tables below: Wine with quality 3, 4, 5 | Wine with quality 6 | Wine with quality 7,

The Importance Of Unreasonable Searches
The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers,

that people have the right to privacy, but when that privacy has the possibility to affect other people
then I think that allows us the freedom to conduct searches. The key word I think here for me is
unreasonable. We can see just as in the shooting that occurred this morning at the Nightclub were
patrons were killed. There were no searches conduct or machines to check for weapons. When it
comes to searches I agree that we should be intrusive with students, but I can t be invasive. Since I

Literature Review Cooperative Communication
CHAPTER 3 COOPERATIVE COMMUNICATION
Background
We have introduced a new form of diversity for the concept of mobile communications system of
cooperation. Cooperation by mobile phone users for each user is assigned. Cooperation can be
considered as a new form of space diversity, antenna diversity in the transmission process, however,
and other complications, Intermobiles noisy channels, each phone has sent a separate message. (W. Yu

According to Cover and El Gamal (1979), a good performance in wireless communications Multiple
Input Multiple Output (MIMO) has drawn attention. The benefits of MIMO communication has been
widely recognized, as it offers a significant increase in performance and range of data offline or
additional bandwidth to transmit power. (Cover and El Gamal, 1979) By increasing the speed and

The Little Mermaid Character Analysis
The Little Mermaid is a Disney animated film that came out in the late 1900s. The movie is about a
teenage mermaid princess named Ariel whose curiosity leads her to defy her father, the mermaid king.
Many American girls enjoy the film during childhood and idolize Ariel. While The Little Mermaid
continues to entertain children, many parents are unaware that the movie can actually do more bad
than good for their little girls . . . Ariel teaches little girls to give up everything that makes them who
they are in order to please a man. In Escape from Wonderland: Disney and the Female Imagination,
Deborah Ross argues that the goals in which Disney female heroes pursue teach little girls to strive for
all the wrong things. For instance, in The Little Mermaid, Ariel risks all of her best attributes to marry
a man and walk the earth as a human. Tying the knot with this man is perceived as her goal in life
which can impress American girls with the belief that the best thing they can achieve is to win a man
and satisfy him. Ross stresses this idea when she writes, what we see her do is flee a world of infinite
possibility to settle in a land of the banal [. . .] yes, she gets her legs, she makes her stand, she marches
but only down the aisle, to marry some guy named Eric (60). With some revision, Ariel does have
some potential to be a good role model for little girls. She could have decided to reveal herself to Eric

According to Berry (2011) s report, the UK government developed the National Employment Savings
Trust (NEST) and automatically enrol workers into pension scheme, which is already leading some
young workers to a long term savings track. Furthermore, Tipper (2014) believes that Generation Y
can resonate with tenable investment approaches if savings sector could build user reliance in
investing by adopting auto enrolment programme. Networking This research proposal uses Delphi
technique to refine the research topic area. It is about forming a group of individuals who are related
to or concerned about the research area to develop a more particular research idea (Saunders et al.,
2006). I explained to three relevant course lecturers that my research idea was involved with helping
young people use financial products to save and plan for their future. And we generated a few specific
ideas, such as: the economic aspects that required young people to start saving; the features that young
people look for in savings projects; roles of governments and savings sector in developing preferable
savings projects. After discussion, I refined my research idea to: what savings projects best appeal to

New Zealand Ministry Of Justice Essay
On 6 February 1840, representatives of the British Crown and numerous Maori chiefs united in the
ceremony of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi documentation in the Bay of
Islands, New Zealand, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1) This, signified the official
colonisation of New Zealand and with this the promise of certain principles that were to be upheld by
the British law, including that of Protection, Participation and Partnership, for all citizens now unified
under the British Crown (MOH, 2000b). (2)
Controversially, due to translational implications the true intention and meaning of the Te Tiriti o
Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi has been often contested due to the Maori losing much of their
Autonomy along with their cultural history, this adversely affecting Maori spiritual, mental, emotional,
and physical health outcomes, both individually as well as within the family structure, which is still
evident 175 years later, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1).
Along with colonisation, many foreign diseases such as measles, mumps, tuberculosis and whooping
cough, that infiltrated New Zealand, proving detrimental for Maori as their immune systems were yet
to develop antibodies and immunity to the newly introduced pathogens, (Pool, 2012). Concurrently,
this resulted in a high morbidity and mortality rate around the end of the 1800s, as according to
statistics, the Maori population declined in number from approximately 100,000 in 1767,

The Importance Of Obedience, And Purity Of Worship
A promise kept, military advancement, faith, a land gift, courage, the importance of obedience, and
purity of worship. These are just a few of the important themes identified in the book of Joshua.
Joshua is the sixth book in the Greek and English Bible; and the first of the twelve historical books. In
the Hebrew Scriptures, Joshua is listed as the first book in the former Prophets section . The book of
Joshua is a history book, containing the account of God fulfilling His promise to Abraham, Isaac,
Jacob, Moses and the rest of the Israelites.
Through this historical narrative we see a faithful God deliver on a promise made hundreds of years
earlier, a new leader come into his own as he leads his people into Canaan and we come to understand
the extreme importance of reading, meditating on and obeying the Word of God. In this book Joshua
tells us how Israel went from a nomadic lifestyle to a nation at rest in a permanent land. It all starts off
with God commissioning Joshua as the new leader of the Nation of Israel. Next, instead of seeing an
unbroken string of military successes and conquests, we read about the high and low points of the
nation s growing possession of Canaan .
From a literary point of view the author of this book uses the narrative style. There is also evidence of
installation genre, and phrase repetition. Verses 1 9 of chapter are the account of God commissioning
Joshua as the new leader of Israel. The commissioning has two parts. First is the promises

How To Use Realism In The Yellow Wall-Paper By Charlotte...
In the past, many authors wrote about the divinity of one with himself and in nature, however, this
transitioned in the late nineteenth century. This literary period, known as realism, targets the everyday
lives of the individual, including a vast amount of details; which The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte
Perkins Stetson perfectly illustrates. This psychological short story exemplifies the characteristics of
the realism most effectively by displaying the characters as the essential focus and being critical of
gender roles.
Throughout this tale, her husband, John, is concentrating on alleviating her, however, he proceeds to
do this in the worst way possible. Without stimulation to the brain, the mind will corrode. Jane writes
in her journal

Introduction Erik Erickson s interest in how one s environment and social interaction drives human behavior and the development of personality, led him to create the psychosocial theory, Eight Stages of Man. Erikson s final four stages of psychosocial development describes a person s development from adolescence to late adulthood. This paper will analyze the final four stages of development, which includes: Adolescence, Young Adulthood, Middle Adulthood, and Late Adulthood. However, one of the major criticisms of the stage theories is that they do not equally apply to all individuals. Each stage of development looks different depending on a person s culture, gender, environment, etc. This paper will analyze how each stage is impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 22). This stage may also be impacted by a person s sexual identity. According to Levy (2009), sexual identity is not simple or clean cut and does not stand alone. It intersects with other aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, education, and so forth (p. 982). What is considered normal sexual behavior does not constitute homosexuality. Therefore, adolescents who are struggling with their sexuality, may run into an identity crisis by trying to find themselves while trying to appeal to societal norms. While the pressure to conform to the heterosexual norm, gays and lesbians may struggle with their same sex desires. Further, with this schism between their desires, behaviors, and identities, individuals may experience isolation, low self esteem, depression, and anger (Levy, 2009, p. 983). Unsuccessful resolution of this crisis may lead to role confusion or identity diffusion (Robins et. all, 2012, p. 215). According to Robins et. • 3. The Role Of Aggression In Hitchcock s Vertigo Recently, an incredible amount of attention has been drawn to female survivors of intimate abuse. It appears though little attention has been paid to why so many women have been assaulted. With this in mind, I choose to take a closer look at how gendered violence functions in literature and in film. Furthermore, I wish to discuss how insecurity instigates aggression from male lead characters in Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo and Leo Tolstoy s The Kreutzer Sonata as a lens for understanding the figurative sexual trauma that female lead characters experience in these works. In an attempt to better understand the relationship between men s physical pleasure and women s physical pain, I asked a main research question: How does aggression function ... His power is further highlighted when Judy returns from the salon to her apartment. Though Judy is mostly transformed as Scottie desires, he is not satisfied. The styling of Judy s hair does not match the styling Scottie wants to see; so, Scottie abruptly takes Judy s hair into his hands and arranges it as her wants showcasing no consent or concern for Judy s desires (Hitchcock 1:54:00 1:56:00). Scottie is oblivious to Judy s frightened and angered response to him arranging her hair. He, instead, is focused on perfecting the Judy before him to the Judy in his mind ignoring her agency again through patriarchal domination (Fabe 363). Judaism And Christianity During The Roman Empire Summary Judaism and Christianity During The Roman Empire By: Deonna Weil Vance History 111 World Civilization before 1650 Professor Joseph Esposito August 20, 2014 In order to decorously portray the evolution of Judaism and Christianity the reader needs to know how Israel was conquered by the Roman Empire. The reader also needs to know how Christianity developed from the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Even though Christianity developed out of the Jewish religion both religions have their differences. Both religions also faced bigotry, discrimination, and hostility due to the Roman Empire. Christian and Judaic history is different in many ways. The development, persecution, and characteristics of each religion are significant. When the Jewish people left Egypt and settled in Israel they established the twelve tribes of Israel. This is very different compared to what Judaism follows in the Old Testament. Christians veritably created their own version of the Old Testament that utilizes their own theologies and ethical ideas. Christians believe that only some parts of the Old Testament applied to them but some wanted to follow the original ways from the Old Testament. It proposes that fears and behaviours (both rational and irrational) are acquired through associative learning. Classical conditioning and operant conditioning are the two models used to explain the acquisition and maintenance of social phobia. Classical (or Pavlovian) conditioning associates a neutral stimulus with an unconditional stimulus through paired association. A neutral stimulus is an object or situation that under normal circumstances wouldn t elicit a fearful response (e.g., meeting with friends). An unconditional stimulus produces an automatic, unconditioned response (e.g., sweating or blushing). If the neutral stimulus is continuously paired with an unconditional stimulus it will elicit the unconditional response without the unconditional stimulus present. The individual has now been conditioned to view the social situation as threatening as opposed to non threatening. Based on this model, prolonged repetition of the eliciting stimulus without an aversive outcome should result in a progressive reduction of the conditioned response. This is called extinction, a process of reversal that breaks the association. Learning theory proposes that the treatment to social phobia is exposure, as the client will be exposed to their fear without an adverse outcome, and over time extinction will take place. However, social phobia is very resistant to extinction, as people often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the letter, where the son of former slaves writes to Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Banneker reasons African Americans are equal to white men, and refers to the mistreatment of slaves by Americans in order to argue that slavery is morally wrong. First, Benjamin Banneker reasons African Americans are equal to white men in order to argue that slavery is morally wrong. For example, through the repetition of the word the Sir , Banneker not only shows respect towards Thomas Jefferson, but portrays himself as someone knowledgeable. This helps Banneker argue that is slavery is morally wrong because it shatters the notion of African Americans being inferior to white people due to Banneker, who is an African American, writing a letter in a dignified manner. Also, it helps the argument by appealing to Thomas Jefferson s ego and sense of worth. The repetition of sir makes it more difficult for Jefferson to become angry at Banneker for being insolent because it doesn t antagonize Jefferson, but recognizes the difference in authority and position between Banneker and Jefferson while showing that Banneker himself, who is an African American, is capable and educated. With experience, not only are you able to keep aware of these limitations, but you can also prepare for them. As Engineers, when we set out to design a product or system, we are working in a theoretical world with no limitations or constraints. However, out in the real world, there are numerous constraints and limitations that come into play when we are forced to integrate our design into a functioning tool. Many times, on large projects, I m working with different groups and subcontractors. When I release an engineering drawing, I have to understand that it must cooperate well with other parts of the project. This takes a lot of coordination with different disciplines, and at times poses limitations on your design that would otherwise not be present. In my experience, I had to modify my design many times to better suit the overall structure and project requirements. In other cases, constraints could be brought upon through legal and/or cosmetic means. For example, I have been involved in projects where I would draft a design which boasts a solid engineering background. However, for any number of reasons, the client might not necessarily like something and thus the design must be re suited to that constraint. However, I have also learned to be mindful in this area. So we decided to use clustering first to explore if the categories can be parted. Since the XLMiner just can run no more than 4000 records for clustering, we need to reduce our data set size to 4000.
