Why Is Oprah Winfrey Important
The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams, Oprah Winfrey once stated

The Key Aspects Of Mechanics Essay
These tricks that the top level athletes perform all relate to the laws of physics, every trick has
components of mechanics whether it be performed in a half pipe or just straight off the ground. The
key aspects of mechanics that are essential for these tricks performed in a half pipe include Torque,
Momentum, Centripetal force, Velocity, Acceleration; they also need to follow the laws of projectile
motion, conservation of energy. All of these play a role in helping the top athletes perform tricks and
giving them the ability to rotate in the air at will and land safely.
The law of motion is Newton s first law of physics that relates to inertia. This law state that an object
will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion (rotating, moving straight) unless
acted upon by external forces. This and the law, conservation of momentum, explain how the rotation
occurs in the air. If you re rotating, you ll keep rotating unless a twisting force, or torque, acts to stop
you. In other words if you re not rotating, you can t rotate unless a torque starts you rotating. Both of
these apply to when snowboarders and skateboarders are in the air doing tricks. In relation to athletes
it means that they will stay rotating and moving in an upward direction if it weren t for external forces
such as gravity which helps decelerate them at 9.8ms 2 until they reach a final velocity of 0ms 1 and
other external forces such as air resistance/friction that help slow down the

The 18th Amendment And The Era Of Social Reform
The 18th Amendment was passed in 1918 to prohibit the manufacture, transport and sale of alcoholic
beverages. While it had noble intentions,it produced another entire set of problems for the country.
The amendment itself was repealed in 1933 in an effort to restore order. Why was this ammendement
ever introduced, by whom and what events led to national attention because of it? With the era of
social reform grew the increase in alcohol consumption. It was believed by certain groups/ people that
there was a distinct link between this and the breakdown in family dynamics ( domestic violence,
abuse) and the productivity of the workforce. There was strong debate for and against this
ammendement . The Assosociation Against the

Jaws Novel And Film Analysis
The lure of the sandy beaches appeals to people worldwide. Television shows, movies and the draw of
the beach lifestyle have a universal attraction that one can t help but want to visit. The sun, surf,
barbeques, nothing could ruin a day like that; nothing but a fin in the water. Most beach goers have not
experienced seeing a shark fin in the water, let alone a shark attack. Sharks may be in the close
proximity where humans are but they don t actively go hunting for humans. Media has fed into mass
hysteria and fear of sharks, leading to the mass killing and endangering of a vital creature to the

What Did God Have To Say About The Strange Object In The...
Back in the Throne Room, the councillors wanted an answer. The prisoners looked at Karjon for a
response. Before we answer, we request an answer of our own. What did God have to say about the
strange object in the sky that almost crashed into God s World? The councillors looked at one another
as if it was sacrilege to talk about it. Sargon could see that he was the one to provide some
explanation. He did consider the position they were in and was sorely tempted to just not give an
answer without any further comment. But his desire to debate these religious issues got the better of
him. That object, whatever it was, God successfully veered it away from his World. He was able to

The one who openly rejected God! The one who turned his back on his religion. Well that explains
everything! A councillor replied. Volgon was now quite angry and upset. You ignorant fools. Fursha
had nothing to do with that object. It came from beyond God s World. We were with Fursha when it
first appeared from outside God s World. We can even point to the part of the sky it came from. No,
Fursha is totally innocent. Another God sent it! This had the reaction of all the council members
standing up. Never had they heard such blasphemy. Members had been killed for less. Consequently
this gave Sargon an idea. He grabbed a spear off the nearest Enforcer. You have blasphemed against
our Lord and Protector. Our laws are very clear! There is no other way forward. Sargon announced
and without any warning he plunged the spear into Volgon. The others gasped in response and grabbed
Volgon as he fell to the ground. They looked back up at Sargon who had casually retaken his seat. He
showed no remorse at all. Werten, in particular, was angry to the point of madness. He leapt up in a
futile effort to attack Sargon. But several Enforcers grabbed him before he could get anywhere near.
Why did you do that? Karjon eventually said. We were just debating a point. He did not deserve to
die! What kind of God would condone such an action? Sargon rose again. It is clear to me that your

1931 China Research Paper
The China floods of 1931 is known as possibly the worst natural disaster of all time. The 1931
Chinese floods were a series of horrible floods that decimated China and lasted around three months.
The death toll ranges from one hundred and forty five thousand to four million people and floods were
estimated to have affected over twenty eight million people. Large amounts of people drowned during
the flood but some died from waterborne diseases. The cause for the floods were many independent
variables which combined to create a dramatic flood that came to China overnight. This natural
disaster could have actually been averted if proper flood control measures had been put in place and

My Cultural Identity In Remember The Titans
What is cultural identity? What is my cultural identity? We can go into my mind to see what we can

The Lucid Dreaming And How Can It Be A Method Of...
Introduction
Those who experience lucid dreaming in the stage of REM sleep are aware of their dreams and able to
control their dreams. Lucid dreaming could be a possible treatment for those with post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) who suffer from nightmares. During lucid dreaming in a nightmare, the PTSD
patients would be able to let go of their fear by recognizing the threats they have in their dreams are
not real. PTSD patients can also transform their dreams into something more pleasant or try to wake
up from their sleep. A case study proved this idea to be true; the reoccurring dreams the patients would
experience were going away after they were introduced into lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming could be
difficult to accomplish, but there are several techniques that can trigger lucid dreaming. For a period
of time, researchers have been pondering and searching for ways to help those who suffers from post
traumatic stress disorder. This topic is interesting to investigate lucid dreaming and how can it be a
method of psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder. During this research, online, primary, and
book resources were used. Therefore, this essay will deal with the following research question: How
can lucid dreaming be used as a method of psychotherapy in those who suffer from post traumatic

The Underground Railroad Is Not Like The Railroad
The Underground Railroad is not like the railroads that we see today, they were not made of box cars
and rails. They were routes that the slaves took to get to freedom, these railways were built or used in
late 1786 to 1865. They went from as far west as Kansas, and Texas and as far south as Florida, they
all were made to go north to Canada, or to Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands where slavery is illegal.
This was an impossible task for the slaves to do on their own. There were many factors on how they
found their way and the people who helped them on their journey, which I will discuss later
throughout this paper. There over 3000 people who helped the runaway slaves to freedom. (The
Underground Railroad).
There are a few that stand out in history: Harriett Tubman, Levi and Catharine Coffin, William Still,
John and Jean Rankin, and Captain John Brown. Each of these people has great stories to tell about
their journeys and helping the black folk to freedom. Let s talk about a couple of these famous people
for a minute and how they got their names.
The Conductor or Station Master. These were the names given to these courageous people, who
helped the slaves to freedom and whom also had bounties on their heads for helping these folks to
freedom. These folks who we called conductors would go back to the plantations and act as slaves to
throw off the white folk who owned them. Also, they had to gain the slaves trust for them to follow

With complete notion and awareness of how each country has their set of rules, the goal of IFRS is to

the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to do with

detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the
Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The narrator is the
detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is
weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to
protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the
presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the
reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that
the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph
8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex president of a South
American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central

the people involved in the story. By giving a brief

Analysis Of The Scarlet Ibis
I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death
. The Scarlet Ibis is a short story that was set in 1918 and it was written by the author, James Hurst.
The story is about a young boy (that goes by Brother in this story) who receives a younger brother by
the name of William Armstrong. From the start, Brother noticed something off about his younger
brother. It is believed that the young boy had a condition called Hydrocephalus , also known as water
on the brain. He is believed to have this condition because his head is significantly larger than his
body and that is an effect of Hydrocephalus. Due to his condition, the boy was not able to do much of
anything. Brother thought that the name William Armstrong was not very fitting for the young boy, so
he decided to rename him Doodle. As the story progresses, Brother tries his hardest to make Doodle
able to do the things that a normal boy can do. In the end of the story, Doodle dies. It is arguable of
whether or not Brother was responsible for Doodle s death or not. Even though most people believe
that Doodle s death was caused by the storm or just his condition, Brother was responsible for Doodle
s death.
Some people may argue that Brother was not responsible for Doodle s death. This is one of the most
controversial topics for the story The Scarlet Ibis . Everyone has their own opinion about what caused
the death of Doodle. There are some significant things within the story that would clue to the fact that
something else was responsible for Doodle s death. There are some people that believe the parents are
responsible for the death of Doodle and on the other hand, some people believe that the storm that
came in the story near the end is what killed him. Evidence can be found in the text that can back up
most of these theories but the evidence that points to Brother being responsible for Doodle s death is
overwhelming. For example, there is a moment within the story where Brother shows his parents that
Doodle can walk and when his father asks why he is crying he says They didn t know that I did it just
for myself, that Doodle walked only because I was ashamed of having a crippled brother. This shows

Similarities Between The Odyssey And The Penelopiad
History is told in the viewpoint of the victor. For thousands of years, a wrong in a textbook may not be

one major part of the story Odysseus telling of the tale. His wife, only had few things said about her in
Odysseus s epic telling of his journey. What she experienced at home was much different from what
Odysseus did on his journey. In the epic poem The Odyssey , and the book The Penelopiad , Penelope

Analysis of the Research Process in a recently published Business Research Study
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze a recently conducted business research study in a
view to assess whether the researcher has followed all the basic and essential steps of the Business
Research Process or not. A Formal business research report starts with a brief introduction to the topic
and clearly defines the Statement of the problem. In the subsequent sections, a comprehensive
literature review is presented to give some background knowledge and explain the topic in the light of
relevant past research studies (Sekaran Bougie, 2010). The researcher proceeds with defining his
population, sample size, and methodology for his research study. Afterwards, he develops hypotheses
and uses different analytical and statistical tools to draw results and present his final conclusion
(Saunders, Lewis, Thornhill, 2006). The research study under analysis was conducted by Salim
Darmadi in Indonesia to analyze the relationship between the placement of females in the
Management Board of a firm and the financial performance of that firm. The researcher has reviewed
a number of articles and research studies from relevant Business, Economics, and Management
journals. The paper contains a detailed background and supporting knowledge in the Literature review
section. The author has used different regression models to analyze the dependent and independent

Developing and managing offerings constitute one of the highest risk any organization can make.
These are decisions that can led to bankruptcy if it fails nonetheless firms needs to continuously seek
for ways to meet those needs if they must stay in business. Sure, in your area you have seen some
businesses shut their doors after just a few periods of existence. Some firms like Adidas, Samsung and
Nike have more than one product while others have just one. What is certain in this relationship is that
the development process follow seven steps principles but may differ based on the business make up
and the organization. The first step of this process is idea development. Ide Generation. Conception

Difference Between Shallow And Deep Complexity
Abstract In order to understand fault structure, there is a need to first understand fault complexity.
Images of faults at depth and near surface reveal complexities that characterize properties such as
geometry, composition and stress states of that fault s structure. While this is true for both passive and
induced imaging, a true passive source image is without the changes in fault structure due to any
induced mechanism. This is something to consider when discussing fault complexity at near surface
versus depth, as it is already difficult to distinguish the direction of complexity within a fault already.
Current seismic research has been unable to understand if fault complexity is derived from a point at
depth, or expands from surface complexity into depth. It is critical to understand the relationship
between shallow and deep complexity in order to predict where that origin may have been and what
caused its expansion. Passive source imaging has been able to help describe the factors that attribute to
this complexity by providing a way to visually see subsurface data, but has not yet fully answered the
complexity question.
Introduction
Fault structure is the aftermath of a slipping event in the lithosphere that produces high velocity
compression waves that can be imaged as they travel through and across the surface of the lithosphere.
These waves affect and change, or in other words add complexity to the structure of the lithosphere
within the fault zone. This

Character Analysis Of Chuck Bass
The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary characters. In the first
episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed teenager. In fact, referring to the show s
primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests, that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring
to Blair Waldorf, he insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only
views his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first season, in
particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and sexually aggressive
(McNear, 2017). Furthermore, he rarely thinks, or cares, about consequences because he never

Misleadingly, Chuck guides Serena to the kitchen, where he orders the chef to make her a sandwich.
While in the kitchen, he suggests, if you re looking for a way to thank me I have a couple of ideas. He
then forces himself upon Serena despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her.
Fortunately, Serena hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of
serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to give true consent. So,
even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked the clear capacity to do so, thus making
it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press
charges against her perpetrator. In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no
repercussions for his first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party.
Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity. Chuck, on the other
hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman with wealth. In the scene leading up to
his assault upon Jenny, he references the purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of
Jenny s innocence. Chuck then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire
encounter, Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of

Analysis on Silver Linings Playbook
The film I chose to analyze is Silver Linings Playbook because I was interested in the story when I
read the synopsis of the movie. I thought that this would be a simple movie where the main characters
would help each other because they had something in common. Reading the synopsis, I also thought
that Pat would be back together with his wife, but at the end he found another love. In the next
paragraphs I will show my knowledge on what I have learned this semester. On my analysis of Silver
Linings, I will give examples that has the concept of language, nonverbal communication, listening,
emotions, conflict, and close relationships.
The first concept is language (a system comprised of vocabulary and rules of grammar that allows us
to engage in verbal communication, Ch. 4, pg 72). The whole movie it was in English, so everyone
understood each other. When watching, everyone understood what each other were saying but
sometimes they don t because they are using words that the other side wouldn t understand. There was
this scene where Pat and Tiffany were talking about what medication they use to have during dinner.
The wife and husband who invited them didn t really look at their perspective in a deeper level. People
who surrounded Pat and Tiffany sometimes wouldn t acknowledge their viewpoint and this is called

Execution In Early-Modern Europe
Maintenance of power and fear is an essential action by the majority of monarchs and rulers within the
early modern age. Without the populace living within a mental state of worry, and being constantly
agitated by the looming threat of capital punishment, the European continent would not be unified
between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. This concept of mass horror and tyranny was modelled
around the use of capital punishment, torture, and execution, and through the public action of these
forms of justice, the monarchs and spiritual leaders kept an ability to rule with an iron fist over the
populace of a nation state. However execution was also a public affair and was enjoyed by the masses
to a large extent due to the sense of justice and vengeance it created, and a feeling of freedom from
lawless criminals due to the large punishment awaiting them if citizens were to break the strict and
direct laws of kingdoms. Another aspect of execution was the role of religion and The Roman Catholic
Church in regards to the execution of religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

society and individuals to a maximum extent. Execution, was a large weapon of terror for European

Executive Summary
The disappointing sales performance during the Christmas 1999 season ended up being a priceless
lesson for TiVo s marketing team: it was the catalyst that created the need for a TiVo s new
communications strategy. However, defining this new marketing campaign was challenging,
especially after the feedback received about the product indicated issues like limited awareness and
hard to communicate functionalities. The main focus of this new marketing campaign is to select a
positioning strategy that will speed up the adoption of TiVo among consumers. The marketing team
has three options on how to position TiVo: 1) as an enhanced digital video recorder, 2) as a product
that gives viewers the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Viewers can pause live television to attend interruptions such as phone calls or unexpected visits. It
gives viewers the freedom to watch whichever program they want, whenever they want. With TiVo s
capacity to store up to 30 hours of recorded television, users reduce the hassle of using videotapes to
record television programs. Users virtually eliminate the possibility of missing their favorite shows,
since they can set up TiVo to record them. With these aforementioned features, TiVo will revolutionize
the way Americans view television.
Price. The current price of $999 for the 30 hour TiVo box is extremely high. It can easily discourage
any early adopter or a TV addict. Hence, the marketing team should reduce the price to $399, even
lower if financially viable. The more attractive the ticket (i.e. TiVo Box) for the ultimate TV
experience, the easier consumers will be lured in. The service fee structure seems at a very reasonable
price, it requires no major price adjustments.
Place. Electronic retail stores, such as Best Buy, Circuit City, and Sears serve as the best channels to
sell the product. It is imperative that the marketing team develops a training program for the sales
force of those retail outlets. Many consumers will have their first TiVo experience in a retail store;
hence, the salespeople must be prepared to demonstrate the benefits of TiVo in a flawless way. The
internet should be used as another channel to sell the product, especially the

Dysfunctional Family Dynamics And The Integral Value Of...
Examples of dysfunctional families can be seen everywhere in society on television, in movies, in
music, and of course, in literature. Many books have recently been published that include complex,
conflicted families. The purpose of using dysfunctional families in popular literature is to make the
story more relatable, show different views on the traditional family dynamic, and to spark interest with
readers. These three intentions are shown in both George RR. Martin s Game of Thrones and Alice
Munro s Who Do You Think You Are?. Both works contain complex characters that illustrate
abnormal family dynamics and the integral value of dysfunctional families in literature. This idea of
dysfunction among families can be seen in the Lannister and Stark families in Game Of Thrones and
Rose s immediate family and her husband in Who Do You Think You Are?. The Lannister family in
George RR. Martin s Game Of Thrones are one of the most powerful and rich families in the series.
They are a prosperous dynasty and live the lives of kings and queens. However, they are also one of
the most dysfunctional families in all of literature. The lives of the Lannister family are filled with
incest, betrayal, murder and destruction. The Stark family are yet another example of dysfunction in a
family structure seen in Game Of Thrones. Rose s family in Alice Munro s Who Do You Think You
Are? are the cause of her having a very sad childhood. She resides with her father, his second wife

Life and Music of Stephen Foster
Stephen Collins Foster was born on July 4, 1826 by the Allegheny River in Lawrenceville, PA.
Stephen was not a big fan of school, instead he preferred to indulge himself in music rather than other
subjects. Stephen was tutored and then went to private academies in Pittsburgh and north central
Pennsylvania. He eventually became a well educated person for his day. Stephen was also very literate
in music. It is said that he received his formal music training from a German immigrant, Henry
Kleber. Henry Kleber was very accomplished and versatile and would eventually have a major
influence on the musical life of Pittsburgh. As a teen, Stephen hung out with other teens from some of
Pittsburgh s most respectable families. Stephen was also a part of an all male secret club called the

Wednesday Wars By William Shakespeare
The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice. This
line is used in the book Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This line means that people should not be
forced to be kind or show mercy. Showing mercy is something that should happen naturally in humans
and not be to benefit themselves or be forced to do it. It should come from the kindness of your heart.
Relating to the plot line of Wednesday Wars, the mean old teacher, Mrs. Baker, shows mercy towards
one of her students, Holling Hoodhood, when Holling brings in cream puffs for the whole class to eat,
but the class rats eat and destroy all of the cream puffs. To illustrate, the text states, Thank you for the

everything fine again. And sometimes the quality of mercy is strained (page 72). The meaning behind
this quote is very true to reality. It means that with all the bad things going on in the world, there is not
always someone to be the knight in shining armor, or to be the good guy and save the day. People are
not always nice to each other. Sometimes tragedies happen, and even though they are never happen, it

Movies Are The Power Of Movies In The World
You humans slaughter each other because of the color of your skin, or your faith, or your politics, or

said by the strongest villain in comic book history as he described humans in the war against Mutans.
Throughout the years comic books have become the beacon of hope civilization needed to overcome
the toughest of times. From the Civil war to Nuclear Warfare heroes were created for the purpose of
keeping children s happiness from fainting into darkness. Batman, Superman, Thor, Hulk and She
Thor were the beacon of light of my childhood and the reason why I dreamt about a better civilization.
Comic books have the power to make even famous of people realize how amazing they are as Nicolas
Cage described Are modern mythology, they reflect our fears, embody our ideals, and personalized
our culture. Our civilization has created movies, books, action figures and tv shows as they ingrained
comic books into our everyday culture. We identify heroes by their persona as we have become to
known Superman as the man of steel and Batman as the Dark Knight these characters have paved the
way for new beginnings, ideals that weren t imaginable at the time they were created.

Summary Of Hungry Minds By Ian Frazier
Hunger is something we experience every single day, but the hunger I am talking about isn t what you
are thinking. Hunger is when something is missing or absent. It can be emotionally, physically,
physiological or spiritual. We are always hungry for something in life and as an adult, you are never
truly full. We are constantly striving for more and to fulfill all types of hunger. This is perfectly
described in the of Ian Frazier s article, Hungry Minds.
Frazier describes different people that are involved with the soup kitchen and they are all there
because they are hungry, some for food but majority is there to fulfill a deeper hunger. Father Rand
Frew was the one who suggested to start the soup kitchen because he wanted to feed his need of
starting something that would make a difference. I can relate to Father Rand Frew in this aspect
because I am too hungry for that. I want to make a difference and right now in my life, I feel deprived
of this. That is why I am here at Warner Pacific College to fulfill that hunger. I am exhausted of my

overlooked. I am looking to get the Atta boy! or the pat on the back but all I get right now is a

overturned, there are slow motion shots highlighting the importance and drama of this twist in the
story. These shots are particularly effective in leaving no doubt in the audience s mind that the riots are
extremely substantial within the movie and are going to lead to many different means of consequence.
In addition, handheld cameras are used during the riot, in order to highlight the franticness of the
people. The nature of the shots reflect irrevocably the sentiments of the citizens of the town, in that
they are confused, unaware of what is happening and everything is not straight forward and slow

during the slow motion scenes, the sound of the riots is faded almost to silence, with only large

The Key AspectsOf Mechanics Essay These tricks that the top level athletes perform all relate to the laws of physics, every trick has components of mechanics whether it be performed in a half pipe or just straight off the ground. The key aspects of mechanics that are essential for these tricks performed in a half pipe include Torque, Momentum, Centripetal force, Velocity, Acceleration; they also need to follow the laws of projectile motion, conservation of energy. All of these play a role in helping the top athletes perform tricks and giving them the ability to rotate in the air at will and land safely. The law of motion is Newton s first law of physics that relates to inertia. This law state that an object will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion (rotating, moving straight) unless acted upon by external forces. This and the law, conservation of momentum, explain how the rotation occurs in the air. If you re rotating, you ll keep rotating unless a twisting force, or torque, acts to stop you. In other words if you re not rotating, you can t rotate unless a torque starts you rotating. Both of these apply to when snowboarders and skateboarders are in the air doing tricks. In relation to athletes it means that they will stay rotating and moving in an upward direction if it weren t for external forces such as gravity which helps decelerate them at 9.8ms 2 until they reach a final velocity of 0ms 1 and other external forces such as air resistance/friction that help slow down the ... The 18th AmendmentAnd The Era Of Social Reform The 18th Amendment was passed in 1918 to prohibit the manufacture, transport and sale of alcoholic beverages. While it had noble intentions,it produced another entire set of problems for the country. The amendment itself was repealed in 1933 in an effort to restore order. Why was this ammendement ever introduced, by whom and what events led to national attention because of it? With the era of social reform grew the increase in alcohol consumption. What Did GodHave To Say About The Strange Object In The... Back in the Throne Room, the councillors wanted an answer. The prisoners looked at Karjon for a response. Before we answer, we request an answer of our own. What did God have to say about the strange object in the sky that almost crashed into God s World? The councillors looked at one another as if it was sacrilege to talk about it. Sargon could see that he was the one to provide some explanation. He did consider the position they were in and was sorely tempted to just not give an answer without any further comment. But his desire to debate these religious issues got the better of him. The one who openly rejected God! The one who turned his back on his religion. Well that explains everything! A councillor replied. Volgon was now quite angry and upset. You ignorant fools. Fursha had nothing to do with that object. It came from beyond God s World. We were with Fursha when it first appeared from outside God s World. We can even point to the part of the sky it came from. No, Fursha is totally innocent. Another God sent it! This had the reaction of all the council members standing up. Never had they heard such blasphemy. Members had been killed for less. Consequently this gave Sargon an idea. He grabbed a spear off the nearest Enforcer. You have blasphemed against our Lord and Protector. Our laws are very clear! There is no other way forward. Sargon announced and without any warning he plunged the spear into Volgon. The others gasped in response and grabbed Volgon as he fell to the ground. They looked back up at Sargon who had casually retaken his seat. He showed no remorse at all. Werten, in particular, was angry to the point of madness. He leapt up in a futile effort to attack Sargon. But several Enforcers grabbed him before he could get anywhere near. Why did you do that? Karjon eventually said. We were just debating a point. When MCF 7 and HepG2 cell lines treated with 5 ALA (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2mM) alone for 4h then incubated for 24h, 5 ALA did not induce cytotoxic effects on both cell lines. The Lucid DreamingAnd How Can It Be A Method Of... Introduction Those who experience lucid dreaming in the stage of REM sleep are aware of their dreams and able to control their dreams. Lucid dreaming could be a possible treatment for those with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who suffer from nightmares. During lucid dreaming in a nightmare, the PTSD patients would be able to let go of their fear by recognizing the threats they have in their dreams are not real. PTSD patients can also transform their dreams into something more pleasant or try to wake up from their sleep. A case study proved this idea to be true; the reoccurring dreams the patients would experience were going away after they were introduced into lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming could be difficult to accomplish, but there are several techniques that can trigger lucid dreaming. For a period of time, researchers have been pondering and searching for ways to help those who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. This topic is interesting to investigate lucid dreaming and how can it be a method of psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder. The Underground RailroadIs Not Like The Railroad The Underground Railroad is not like the railroads that we see today, they were not made of box cars and rails. They were routes that the slaves took to get to freedom, these railways were built or used in late 1786 to 1865. They went from as far west as Kansas, and Texas and as far south as Florida, they all were made to go north to Canada, or to Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands where slavery is illegal. This was an impossible task for the slaves to do on their own. There were many factors on how they found their way and the people who helped them on their journey, which I will discuss later throughout this paper. There over 3000 people who helped the runaway slaves to freedom. (The Underground Railroad). There are a few that stand out in history: Harriett Tubman, Levi and Catharine Coffin, William Still, John and Jean Rankin, and Captain John Brown. Each of these people has great stories to tell about their journeys and helping the black folk to freedom. Let s talk about a couple of these famous people for a minute and how they got their names. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the narrator is the detective. Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the Continental Detective Agency doesn t handle) I like weddings as little as any. The narrator is the detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the reader s doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of TheScarlet Ibis I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two vines, life and death . The Scarlet Ibis is a short story that was set in 1918 and it was written by the author, James Hurst. The story is about a young boy (that goes by Brother in this story) who receives a younger brother by the name of William Armstrong. From the start, Brother noticed something off about his younger brother. It is believed that the young boy had a condition called Hydrocephalus , also known as water on the brain. He is believed to have this condition because his head is significantly larger than his body and that is an effect of Hydrocephalus. Due to his condition, the boy was not able to do much of anything. Brother thought that the name William Armstrong was not very fitting for the young boy, so he decided to rename him Doodle. As the story progresses, Brother tries his hardest to make Doodle able to do the things that a normal boy can do. In the end of the story, Doodle dies. It is arguable of whether or not Brother was responsible for Doodle s death or not. Even though most people believe that Doodle s death was caused by the storm or just his condition, Brother was responsible for Doodle s death. Some people may argue that Brother was not responsible for Doodle s death. This is one of the most controversial topics for the story The Scarlet Ibis . Everyone has their own opinion about what caused the death of Doodle. There are some significant things within the story that would clue to the fact that something else was responsible for Doodle s death. There are some people that believe the parents are responsible for the death of Doodle and on the other hand, some people believe that the storm that came in the story near the end is what killed him. Evidence can be found in the text that can back up most of these theories but the evidence that points to Brother being responsible for Doodle s death is overwhelming. For example, there is a moment within the story where Brother shows his parents that Doodle can walk and when his father asks why he is crying he says They didn t know that I did it just for myself, that Doodle walked only because I was ashamed of having a crippled brother. Difference Between ShallowAnd Deep Complexity Abstract In order to understand fault structure, there is a need to first understand fault complexity. Images of faults at depth and near surface reveal complexities that characterize properties such as geometry, composition and stress states of that fault s structure. While this is true for both passive and induced imaging, a true passive source image is without the changes in fault structure due to any induced mechanism. This is something to consider when discussing fault complexity at near surface versus depth, as it is already difficult to distinguish the direction of complexity within a fault already. Current seismic research has been unable to understand if fault complexity is derived from a point at depth, or expands from surface complexity into depth. It is critical to understand the relationship between shallow and deep complexity in order to predict where that origin may have been and what caused its expansion. Passive source imaging has been able to help describe the factors that attribute to this complexity by providing a way to visually see subsurface data, but has not yet fully answered the complexity question. Introduction Fault structure is the aftermath of a slipping event in the lithosphere that produces high velocity compression waves that can be imaged as they travel through and across the surface of the lithosphere. These waves affect and change, or in other words add complexity to the structure of the lithosphere within the fault zone. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Character Analysis OfChuck Bass The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary characters. In the first episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed teenager. In fact, referring to the show s primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests, that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring to Blair Waldorf, he insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only views his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first season, in particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and sexually aggressive (McNear, 2017). He then forces himself upon Serena despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her. Fortunately, Serena hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to give true consent. So, even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked the clear capacity to do so, thus making it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press charges against her perpetrator. In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no repercussions for his first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party. Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity. Chuck, on the other hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman with wealth. In the scene leading up to his assault upon Jenny, he references the purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of Jenny s innocence. Chuck then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire encounter, Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of ... Analysis On SilverLinings Playbook Essay Ailleene Mendoza Interpersonal Communications Section Intercultural Film Analysis Paper Dec. 10, 2016 Analysis on Silver Linings Playbook The film I chose to analyze is Silver Linings Playbook because I was interested in the story when I read the synopsis of the movie. I thought that this would be a simple movie where the main characters would help each other because they had something in common. Reading the synopsis, I also thought that Pat would be back together with his wife, but at the end he found another love. In the next paragraphs I will show my knowledge on what I have learned this semester. On my analysis of Silver Linings, I will give examples that has the concept of language, nonverbal communication, listening, emotions, conflict, and close relationships. The first concept is language (a system comprised of vocabulary and rules of grammar that allows us to engage in verbal communication, Ch. 4, pg 72). The whole movie it was in English, so everyone understood each other. When watching, everyone understood what each other were saying but sometimes they don t because they are using words that the other side wouldn t understand. There was this scene where Pat and Tiffany were talking about what medication they use to have during dinner. The wife and husband who invited them didn t really look at their perspective in a deeper level. People who surrounded Pat and Tiffany sometimes wouldn t acknowledge their viewpoint and this is called perspective taking (Ch. 4, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Execution In Early-ModernEurope Maintenance of power and fear is an essential action by the majority of monarchs and rulers within the early modern age. Without the populace living within a mental state of worry, and being constantly agitated by the looming threat of capital punishment, the European continent would not be unified between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. This concept of mass horror and tyranny was modelled around the use of capital punishment, torture, and execution, and through the public action of these forms of justice, the monarchs and spiritual leaders kept an ability to rule with an iron fist over the populace of a nation state. However execution was also a public affair and was enjoyed by the masses to a large extent due to the sense of justice and vengeance it created, and a feeling of freedom from lawless criminals due to the large punishment awaiting them if citizens were to break the strict and direct laws of kingdoms. Dysfunctional Family DynamicsAnd The Integral Value Of... Examples of dysfunctional families can be seen everywhere in society on television, in movies, in music, and of course, in literature. Many books have recently been published that include complex, conflicted families. The purpose of using dysfunctional families in popular literature is to make the story more relatable, show different views on the traditional family dynamic, and to spark interest with readers. These three intentions are shown in both George RR. Martin s Game of Thrones and Alice Munro s Who Do You Think You Are?. Both works contain complex characters that illustrate abnormal family dynamics and the integral value of dysfunctional families in literature. This idea of dysfunction among families can be seen in the Lannister and Stark families in Game Of Thrones and Rose s immediate family and her husband in Who Do You Think You Are?. The Lannister family in George RR. Martin s Game Of Thrones are one of the most powerful and rich families in the series. They are a prosperous dynasty and live the lives of kings and queens. Wednesday Wars ByWilliam Shakespeare The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of Venice. Summary Of HungryMinds By Ian Frazier Hunger is something we experience every single day, but the hunger I am talking about isn t what you are thinking. Hunger is when something is missing or absent. It can be emotionally, physically, physiological or spiritual. We are always hungry for something in life and as an adult, you are never truly full. We are constantly striving for more and to fulfill all types of hunger. This is perfectly described in the of Ian Frazier s article, Hungry Minds. Frazier describes different people that are involved with the soup kitchen and they are all there because they are hungry, some for food but majority is there to fulfill a deeper hunger. Father Rand Frew was the one who suggested to start the soup kitchen because he wanted to feed his need of starting something that would make a difference.
