The Economy Of The Us Auto Industry
The US Auto industry is facing the reality that new generations are not the same generations on which
they built their empires. As information and global awareness are more prevalent than ever before, the
consumer only wants to do what feels right to them, not what they have been told to want, and statistic
show that the things the new consumer is looking for above all, is the lower cost of owning a car,
followed fuel efficiency and how environmentally friendly it is.
After the boom of urban sprawled life with the baby boomers, that was maintained to a certain degree
by generation X, the car industry thrived, along with the housing prices, and sales, both industries,
housing and automobile, achieved their greatest heights together, and were similarly affected when the
Great Recession hit. Some have suggested that the automobile sector has experienced the same bubble
as the housing sector and that it will never return to boom conditions again (Boudette and Shirouzu
2008). As the car industry is in the process of recuperation, and as it climbs it is faced with the new
reality of a changing demographics of its consumers.
Generation Y is now the prime target for the auto industry, they are also the largest potential consumer
market, and the auto industry has to work on getting this new generation interested in their products.
To achieve this goal, it is important that the industry acknowledge that the consumer patterns are not
the same. A global consciousness has developed in

The changing NHS: what does this mean for teachers and learners? In the Theory and Practice paper
you looked at some of key learning theories and how these might be used in clinical teaching. There
have been some huge shifts in recent years in the NHS and Higher Education which have changed the
cultures of both. Without going into long sociological explanations, it is useful just to think of some of
the key changes and look at how these have impacted on the role of and expectations from clinical
teachers. Since the late 1990s, when national initiatives to reform undergraduate and postgraduate
medical education were introduced, medical education (which includes clinical training) has gradually
placed greater expectations and more responsibilities on clinical teachers. The Department of Health
initiative UMCISS (Undergraduate Medical Curriculum Implementation Support Scheme) which
supported the reform of all undergraduate curricula in response to Tomorrow s Doctors (GMC, 1993)
had a huge impact on undergraduate medical education. New teaching and learning methods were
introduced into courses such as problem based learning, video teaching and web based learning and
the courses themselves became less informal and more structured in terms of design, delivery and
evaluation. Courses were expected to clearly define aims and learning outcomes, modes of delivery
and assessment and the national agencies responsible for

Milwaukee Of The Civil Rights Movement
During the time of the civil rights movement, milwaukee was considered to be one of the most
segregated cities at the time. An extensive amount of African American had moved to the city during
and after world war II, and by the time of the civil rights movement, the black community had
accounted for 15 percent of Milwaukee s population . It isn t a surprise that majority of African
Americans in Milwaukee lived in the north side of the city, which accumulated increasing volatility
due to limited job opportunities, poverty, and segregation.Racial segregation in Milwaukee and around
the world has always been a phenomenon with intricate historical roots. The complex history of
slavery, employment discrimination, tax inequity, redlining, discriminatory housing policies, and
multiple other issue have lead Milwaukee to be segregated. Despite the fact that Milwaukee s has a
unique history, social forces and government policies created and reinforced residential segregation
throughout the united states, so why is Milwaukee worse than most cities in America? Well suburban
housing is more expensive than city housing and another thing that distinguishes metro Milwaukee
from other areas is the incredible racial disparity in median household incomes in metro Milwaukee,
which prevents many minorities from being able to afford suburban housing. So segregation is a huge
problem in the milwaukee metro area because of the racial disparity in median household incomes,
education, and

Gaius Octavianus As The Ruler Of The Great Roman Empire
Introduction
Gaius Julius Octavianus assumed the throne as the ruler of the great Roman Empire in 30 B.C. During
his reign as emperor which ran for about four and a half decades, Gaius institutionalized Rome with
ideologies and notions that were centered on the combined traditions of Republican Rome and the
realities of the kingship concept. Gaius Octavian was conferred with the title of Augustus in 27 B.C by
the senate. The honorific title of Augustus was a reflection of connotations stateliness and dignity.
Prior to the conferment of the title, an official imperial portrait that embodied the qualities wished to
be projected by Octavian the Emperor Augustus was created. Several hundreds of this portrait were
imprinted on gemstones, coins, monumental reliefs and statues and were disseminated to region of the
empire during and after Gaius reign. The above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prototypical portrait type was copied by court sculptors. The copies were dispersed throughout the
Roman Empire in a bid that further copies could be made and installed in public places. Via the
imprints of the statue on coins, and busts, the empire was consistently reminded of the Emperor s
authority and power. Aristocratic portraits of the late Roman Republic were always conceived as being
veristic, which implies that they documented wrinkles, baldness and the facial impetrations of the
personality they were modeled after. Gaius Octavian looked to a new ideology of Roman art and chose
a more idealized, classicizing portrait which would capture his individual features and portray him as
a never aging, and powerful ruler. In Gaius own opinion it would not be uncommon for the Emperor
to be portrayed with the attributes of gods. He believed that after his passing, he would be deified but
a public representation of himself in life would also depict him as having divine

Patient Safety Thermometer
Patient Safety Thermometer In 2011, even before the Francis report was published, around 1000
frontline clinicians from strategic health authorities took part in a safety express pilot. The pilot was
designed to test innovative way to achieve a reduction in patient harm. However, one of the
programme s successes was a simple audit tool, the Patient Safety Thermometer (Buckley, 2014). The
NHS Patient Safety Thermometer (PST) has been designed to be used by all frontline healthcare
professionals. Power et al (2012), indicates that the PST can be used to take a snapshot measure of
pressure ulcers, harm from falls, urinary tract infection in patients with catheters and VTE. Through
the use of minimal set data, the PST helps signal where individuals, teams and organisations might
need to focus more on detailed measurement, training and improvement (Power et al, 2012). It should
be noted that the NHS Patient Safety Thermometer measures prevalence, not incidence, therefore it is
of benefit to understand the difference between these and how these harms are measured in the tool (
Table 4). The PST provides a temperature check on harm that can be used alongside other measure of
harm to measure local and system progress in providing a care environment that is free of harm (NHS,
2013). Power et al (2012) states that the NHS incentivized the use of the PST within the NHS
operating framework of 2012/13. For the first time, the NHS used the ... Show more content on

Marine Marcoalgaes Lab Report
Photosynthesis of marine marcoalgaes split into 2 processes; light reaction (photochemical reaction
which is affected by concentration of the chlorophyll and irradiance) and the dark reaction (chemical
process, where temperature and concentration of the substrate influence on). However between those
two reactions, there is an intermediates metabolic process, where NADPH and ATP are produced. The
amount of produced NADPH and ATP depends upon light limitation, which later results of dark
reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesis pigments function is to absorb the light energy as photons.
They are localized in the light harvesting antenna protein pigment (LHC) in thylakoid membraines of
the chloroplast. (Dring, 1992) Bladders wrack contain wide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hence most of the energy which was previously absorbed by accessory pigments is actually transfer to
chlorophyll a. This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all other pigments have
the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation cost less energy. However
chlorophyll a can be divided into different forms, which depends upon changes of the maximal
wavelength absorption, which range between 662 and 700 nm. This segregation system allows the
transfer from the short wavelength to long wavelength and appears as a two distinct systems, which
are the photosystem I (PI) and photosystem II (PII). The organization of the systems present as: PI
contains the chlorophyll a longest wavelength absorption type, while PII also contain the chlorophyll
a, but a short wavelength absorption type and additionally the accessory pigments. In the each of the
reactive center there is an energy trap, therefore PI with single molecule of a chlorophyll a with
absorption of 700 nm will have a P700 trap, where PII will result with P 680 690 trap where the
absorption wavelength by different form of chlorophyll a and accessory pigments is shorter. (Dring

Effects Of Artificial Gravity
Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of gravity.
It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts. Artificial gravity can
be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes a body follow a curved
path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its center, the force of rotation
would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the astronaut to experience an outwards
force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be calculated by using the radius between the center
of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut
would experience. Think of it as spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds.
The farther you lean your body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force
you feel and the more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts
need the sense of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have
evolved to live on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body
can experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur.
When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put the
same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee

Representation Of Hamlet
The theatrical representation of Hamlet is one of mystery, action, character development, but most
importantly, tragedy. A considerable amount of people hold a common belief that the play, Hamlet, by
William Shakespeare is a tragedy, due to the fact that all the main characters perish at the end of the
play. An individual might take this stance on this argument upon first hearing. However, the reality of
the situation is that there are numerous parts of the play that show that this statement is not only
incorrect, but an oversimplified version of the bigger truth. Further investigation into this topic will
reveal that, in fact, the decisions the characters make throughout the duration of the play is where the
true tragedy builds up. At first, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with Ophelia s tragedy, Laertes suffers a tragedy of being deceived and used by Claudius as a
result of Hamlet s impulsive behavior as well, further assuring that the tragedy exhibits itself in the
conclusions drawn by the characters in the story. The tragedy inside Laertes that is the causation of
Hamlet s killing of Polonius is evident through the scene where Laertes confronts Claudius on why he
did not punish Hamlet for his malicious act. Claudius then goes on to trick Laertes into plotting
against Hamlet, and Laertes proclaims, And so I have a noble father lost;/A sister driven into desperate
terms/Whose worth. if praises may go back again,/Stood challenger on mount of all the age/For her
perfections. But my revenge will come (4.7.27 31.) At this moment in time, it can be seen that while
Laertes expresses his emotions of rage, he is being manipulated by Claudius, as well as how the
dramatic purpose shows character development, as the tragic outcome of being tricked like this for
personal gain stems from that of how Hamlet s actions had resulted in the loss of his father, which was
ultimately one of Hamlet s rash decisions. Upon closer look, the place where tragedy lies is not only
where all the characters die, but where the outcomes of the decisions the characters make throughout
the course of the play, such as when Hamlet commits homicide towards Polonius, or how Claudius
can cause tragedies with the way he lives his as

The Article On The Right Of Die Still Seems More Theory...
The article of THE RIGHT TO DIE STILL SEEMS MORE THEORY THAN PRACTICE takes a pro
side of the right to die. Due to the problems of protecting the patient from abuse (from ones who
might want the patient dead or prolonging life for ulterior motives), and the decisions and views of
ethics are being made from a professional who may or may not know the patient or their family. These
decisions such as quality of life are being defined and made by society. It seems as though that the
theory is the battle over the patients rights, and the practice is the battle to enforce them. This battle is
catapulted from the fear of liability (civil and criminal), from the institutes and the doctors. These
situations usually leave the patient powerless.
HOW HAS THE TECHNOLOGY AND CAPABILITIES OF MEDICINE AFFECTED THE
DEBATE?
Since the advancement of technology and capability of medicine, the debate has risen to a level of
which it can t be ignored. The fact of prolonging someone s life has to be a factor since it is a
possibility of prolonging it comfortably. Before there were advancement of technology and capability
of medicine most American died at home, with their love ones around and family doctors which would
provide comfort and solace, also in some occasion the doctor would give an extra dose of morphine
for the pain or to help asses in death.

Ted Kennedy Rhetorical Analysis In Jfk Speech
In the library of his father s house, on July 25th, 1969, Senator Edward Ted Kennedy would make one
of the most important speeches of his political career. Th e Senator was well put together, his hair in
place and his suit pressed, impeccable. He was far away from where the accident he was to talk about
had taken place, the Chappaquiddick. A team of his best speech writers had been assembled to create
this famous speech, and the papers lay out before him upon the desk. A firm tone and folded hands
showed resolve as he began to read aloud. Ted Kennedy started his speech by setting the time and
place of the accident to the forefront of the audience s mind. He spoke of how he had left the party
accompanied by the late Mary Jo Kopechne, who Edward stated he had no prior private relationship
with, nor any knowledge of past conduct that would lead to disrespectful speculation of her character.
Edward gave a clear picture of the events that night, using descriptive information to build credibility.

reputation was so tarnished that he should resign his seat in the Senate. He used solemn body language

The Effects Of Sporting Events On Soccer 2010
The stadium was shaking with the thunderous cheers of fans supporting their countries. The
excitement grew as coaches gave last minute instructions to their players. The kick off of the 1966
World Cup, held in England, in which Germany versed England, was moments away. The whistle
blew and the match was on. The first ninety minutes of the match were an exciting battle and the game
ended in a 0 0 score; on to overtime! According to an article written Zoe Doherty During the final,
with eleven minutes gone in extra time, Alan Ball crossed to George Hurst whose subsequent shot
cannoned off the underside of the goal and down either just on or over the goal line. The goal was
controversially allowed, and its validity is still questioned to this day. (Goal line technology in soccer

official s decisions are based upon their judgments and observations. Maybe in 1966 that had to be the
case, but today, thanks to modern technology, that s not so. Rather than relying solely on their personal
observations to determine a call, soccer officials are now being assisted by goal line technology, a tool
to assist them making their official rulings during a game. According to the Fédération Internationale

Goodwill from Shaw s acquisitions represent (i.e., what are some of the economic assets that comprise
this account)? Which intangible assets and liabilities does Shaw amortize over time? Which
intangibles, if any, are not amortized? Shaw defines Goodwill as the excess of the purchase price of

Because the extra profit of these contracts was recognized at acquisition, there must be a reduction in
profits recognized at contract completion to avoid double counting. The amortization of contract

Lost in Translation by Ewa Hoffman Essay
Lost in Translation A Place to Remember
As people grow up, there are special places that remain in the memories. These places become a safe
haven when life becomes too rough to handle. All the bad qualities of this place disappear in their
minds so that only a perfect world exists. This is a place where everything is right and everyday
troubles do not exist. In the novel Lost in Translation by Ewa Hoffman, she describes this paradise of
sorts as her hometown of Cracow, Poland.

From the beginning of Ewa s emigration, she realized the difference in monetary values. In Poland
two dollars could have bought a bicycle whereas on the train the two dollars only bought four bowls
of soup. This is one reason why Cracow was a special place to her; it provided her with luxury.
In Cracow, Ewa was considered a piece of beauty. She was considered a porcelain princess and often
received comments about her attractiveness. She always had the finest clothes and was very up to date
with her sense of style. When arriving in Canada her perception of herself changed as she realized that
she was not the most attractive girl. All of the other girls walked around with thin eyebrows and red
lipstick, whereas Ewa had bushy eyebrows and wore no lipstick. The clothing the Ewa wore was also
quite different than that of Ewa s. Because of her family s lower political caste, her family was unable
to provide the money for Ewa to look like all the other girls. She had to rely on the charitable
donations of people such as the Rosenbergs. In Cracow, this would never be the case.
Growing up in Cracow, Ewa had many close friendships. However, there was one boy in particular
that was always there for her, Marek. Ewa and Marek s parents were best friends which eventually led
to the two children becoming best friends. It was with Marek that Ewa had her first

Inclusion And Full Of Half Truths Essay
Introduction
In 2000, Professor Geneva Gay wrote that culturally responsive teaching connects students by their
cultural knowledge, prior life experiences, in a way that legitimized and validated what students
already know. By embracing all socio cultural realities and having a thorough understanding allows
the culturally responsive teacher to negotiate the classrooms with their students and have an accurate
reflection of their communities where students develop and prosper.
In doing my research, I found this topic to be fascinating, somewhat bias and full of half truths. Of
course, there was research conducted, statistics, graphs, and charts, by so called professionals within
education who want people to believe their conclusions. These findings are merely illusion of
inclusion and used as tools to utilized as it relates to the educational system. Let s study this a little
deeper. For instance, I teach criminal justice in a predominately black high school. This subject affects
all cultures, races, and economic status despite educational levels. It s real, authentic and most of all
troublesome. I must raise several questions of concerns as it relates to culture and diversity on
educational attainment.
The words educational attainment is used mostly by statistician s and defined by the Census Bureau as
the highest level of education one has completed. Educational attainment is one of the primary
indicators of social class in the United States (Ehrenreich, 1989). Is this

Tips For Maintaining Your Car s Tires And Identifying When Replacement Is Needed
Many drivers do not even think about their car s tires until there is a major problem. The truth is that
poorly maintained tires can affect the performance of your car and potentially put you and your
passengers in danger. For example, having your tires underinflated by 25% can cause tire failure to
occur. Her is how you can maintain your car s tires along with signs of when it is time to replace them.
Maintenance
Air Pressure
Take a close look at your tires to find out how much air pressure is needed to keep them properly
inflated. Too much air can cause the tire to have a blowout when driving at high speeds when the
internal temperature increases. Too little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The improper balance will cause unintentional wear and tear on your tires, which can lead to the tires
needing to be replaced sooner than the others.
If you notice that your care is slightly veering to one side when driving while your hands are off the
wheel it could be a sign of a tire misalignment. Your local auto shop can perform a wheel alignment to
get your tired back on track. They will also rotate your tires at the same time to help increase their
lifespan.
Replacement Signs
Tire Tread
You do not need a fancy tire gauge to tell if it is time to replace your tires, because all you need is a
penny. Stick it head first into the tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln s head, it s a sign you need to
get new tires.
Uneven wear is also a clear sign you need replacement. Just run your hand over the tread and feel how
smooth it is. If you feel noticeable bumps in the tread, it is time to replace your tires.
Vibration
If you did not feel the bumps in the tires then you might feel it when driving. Those uneven treads will
translate to a vibration when you driver your car, especially at high speeds. While bad struts and
shocks could also be causing the vibration, confirm your suspicious by investigating the tire

Perfectionism And Procrastination
Procrastination is a common form of self regulatory failure with substantive connections where the
tendency is to put off tasks. (Steel, Farrari, 2013)
Perfectionism is when one sets very high expectations often in an overly critical manner (Frost,
Marten, Lahart, Rosenblate,1990).
There s two types of perfectionism, adaptive and maladaptive where adaptive components are
beneficial to the situational and maladaptive components will be detrimental to the individual. (Piers

Athletes Vs Ncaa Essay
The relationship between a student athlete and a college is contractual in nature. In Barile v.
University of Virginia an Ohio court clarified that this contractual relationship is particularly
applicable if a scholarship or financial aid is involved in the relationship. However, the student
athletes are not in a direct contractual relationship with the NCAA. That contractual relationship exists
between the NCAA and its member institutions. Thus, the only contractual relationship former student
athletes have with the NCAA is as a third party beneficiary. Generally, student athletes are not third
party beneficiaries of the NCAA. However, Bloom v. NCAA clarified that a student athlete may have
standing as a third party beneficiary to the contractual relationship between the NCAA and its member
schools. Essentially, the court found that the NCAA and its members relationship, evidence by the
NCAA constitution, bylaws and regulations, was intended to benefit student athletes like Bloom. It is

Two Perspectives Of The The Book Of Jonah
Disobedience is essentially a prideful power struggle against someone in authority over us. It can be a
parent, a priesthood leader, a teacher, or ultimately God. A proud person hates the fact that someone is
above him. He thinks this lowers his position (Ezra Taft Benson). The book of Jonah is based off of a
man who disobeys God. Jonah disobeys God because he was already aware of how the people of
Ninevah would react to the word of God that he came to share. The Book of Jonah can be used as a
piece of art that describes the late 5th to early 4th century in Nineveh. It shows that God ultimately has
the finally decision and he is able to do things to show others the consequence of being disobedient.
The book of Jonah is written in third person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that lived in the East believed the story of Jonah but didn t believe that Jesus was crucified and
raised from the dead. One major thing that they could never see their God do was allow His prophet to
undergo such humiliation (The Importance of the Book of Jonah). Those that lived in the West
disagreed that Jonah was swallowed by a fish and spit back out in three days. If miracles cannot take
place then the story of Jonah must be false ( The importance of the book of Jonah). However both
cities are incorrect because the two situations cannot coincide without each other. As Jonah was
swallowed by the fish, Jesus was buried in the tomb ( The importance of the book of Jonah). This
passage shows that the two situations were connected to each other. Without one you can t have the
other. As Jonah was given new life, Jesus rose from the death (The importance of the book of Jonah).
From the source The importance of the book of Jonah readers can inform that the East and the West
had their differences like any other crosstown cities. With time there is hope that the two cities can be
educated and shown that without Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, Jonah wouldn t have been able
to repent and pray for deliverance from the belly of the whale. Because of Adam and Eve Jesus
sacrificed his life and allowed men to torture him so those that are like Jonah and don t obey God s
commands can be given a chance to ask for forgiveness and try to do what was right in the first

Alcohol on College Campuses
Alcohol on College Campuses
Did you know 82 92% of college students consume alcohol? (Taylor) Did you drink while in college?
Do you agree with alcohol on college campuses or do you disagree? Why? Restricting alcohol
consumption on campuses sometimes is used to prevent alcohol abuse and alcohol related problems.
Dry campus policies, however, remain misunderstood. According to Dexter M. Taylor, Drinking and
alcohol related problems found on dry campuses were similar to national trends on wet college
campuses (Taylor). Alcohol related problems that occur on college campuses include injuries,
unprotected sex, date rape, poor academics, and health issues. If alcohol was aloud on college

Barn Burning Foreshadowing
In the short story Barn Burning, the narrator, William Faulkner, uses many different types of
descriptions and ways to make the reader think about the whole story. He puts so many conflicts in the
story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way men put
their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols, conflict, and
motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the expensive rug he soils.
Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this eventually leads to the
destruction of the rug. Snopes intentionally messes up this rug that is very expensive, just to make a
point. The rug is a symbol of everything Snopes had pride for and his occasional opportunities. By
him messing it up he shows that anything can be taken away from you; thus, meaning all his
opportunities and pride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of conflict in this story with fire. Fire is mentioned many times in this short story, from
the burning barn or the roadside fires. Fire is used to represent the honor and the way that Snopes
believes. He uses the fire to burn a barn, which sends Confederate troops go searching for the Horse
thief. He tries to use this fire to give him just one second of fame. All he wants is to be in the
spotlights for one second and he uses fire to do that. The last example is by using motif. Faulkner uses
the motif to show how darkness can take over one person s life. For example, Snopes beats Sartoris at
the roadside camp because he was mad Sartoris was planning to reveal his guilt at the courthouse.
This shows that Snopes doesn t care about the truth, all he cares about is how his situation is. Snopes
plans on burning another barn; however, Sartoris stands up for his own morality during this whole
episode. Snopes significantly cares about the way that he looks in everyone else s eyes instead of the

Sectional Tensions Of The Civil War Essay
Throughout early American History, the issue of slavery was considered by many to be unsolvable.
The North and the South were unwilling to compromise once tensions reached a high in the mid 1800
s leading to the Civil War. Already high tensions in the United States between the North and South,
were pushed to a toppling point over the controversy about slavery. It was only a matter of time before
the Nation would have to resolve this issue and attempt to unite the Country. This sectional tension
can be seen during two presidential administrations that either precede, or occur during the Civil War;
the administrations of President Franklin Pierce, and of Abraham Lincoln. Thus, the issue of slavery

While the North grew in manufacturing throughout the 1840 s and 1850 s, the southern economy
remained stagnant. In fact, the slave states possessed only around 18% of the total national
manufacturing capacity during this period. Over half of this manufacturing capacity was located in the
border states, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri, whose populations had questionable
loyalty to the South. These border states were only southern in some aspects, and thus, did not secede
from the Union. Because of the lack of true southern manufacturing, it was hard to generate large
profits, as all agricultural produce had to be shipped North in order to be manufactured. For example,
most cotton from the South was sent to the North for spinning and manufacturing into clothing. From
there, the garments created would be sent back to the South, at a marked up, higher price. The
production difference between the South and the North made the South completely dependent on the
North, economically. According to one southerner, Financially [the south is] more enslaved than [its]

The Influence Of Booker T. Washington On Education
Booker T. Washington had a vital view about education s part in the society. His life account depicts
his admiration for the utilization of instruction and learning. Washington accepted that education and
knowledge helped extraordinarily in making individuals more gainful and fruitful. He knew of the
significance of education and instruction in solving day by day life challenges, and the fact that people
profited extraordinarily from training. Today, our reality has changed a lot in comparison to the
nineteenth century. There is a large contrast as far as innovation, race relations, and the way of life and

Exploring The Role Of Hearing Loss In The 1940 s
Hearing serves a crucial benefit for understanding the world around us. During the 1940 s, Dr.
Ramsdell realized that hearing serves four crucial function; symbolically we are informed or
entertained, aesthetically hearing is naturally pleasing, warningly we are alerted or prepared,
primitively we are aware of our surroundings [1]. The ear is typically divided into three sections, used
to simplify the hearing process. The first section, or the outer ear, is composed of the auricle (skin
covered cartilage), the auditory canal, and the tympanic membrane (the outer layer of the eardrum).
The middle ear section contains the eardrum, tympanic cavity, and the ossicles. These ossicles are

variety hearing problems, we are going to discuss Middle Ear Replacements in this report. Middle Ear
Implants and replacements aim to correct sensorineural hearing issues. Often times, patients will elect
to receive a middle ear implant instead of dealing with the expense and hassle of traditional hearing
aids. Recently, the FDA has approved a middle ear transducer implant called the Vibrant Sound
bridge. The Sound bridge operates by connecting a Floating Mass Transducer to the incus (anvil)
bone. This transducer is connected to external audio processor that is discretely attached externally
above the ear. When the external processor receives a soundwave, a signal is transmitted to the
internal transducer. The transducer then vibrates in such a way that mimics natural middle ear

Domestic Terrorism Related Intelligence
Abstract
Domestic terrorism is like cancer that eats away at the very values and beliefs of the American people.
Instead of combining efforts to peacefully and legally enact change, domestic terrorists take the law
and actions into their own hands. Groups such as eco terrorists use firebombing to make their point
that the Earth will be protected at all costs. That cost even meant human lives. Militia groups feel the
same way. Their goal is not about saving the Earth but rather to change the government. They see it as
too weak to handle the needs of the America people. These individuals use modified firearms,
explosives, and survival tactics. Law abiding citizens are not defenseless, the FBI and NCIRC work
together to help keep America safe.

Will Sewage Treatment Plants Have Effect On Water Birds ...
Will sewage treatment plants have effect on water birds persistence and distribution?
Longji Deng, 100189430, Group 8
Introduction:
Anthropogenic climate warming has elevated the global temperature, and it has risen faster during the
last 40 years. There is no doubt that the temperature change has affected the biological process of
birds such as wintering, migration and breeding. (K Meller 2016) Also the increasing temperature can
cause a poleward geographical distribution.( Rachael H, et al, 2006)
It is certain that artificial ponds have positive effect on water birds breeding and migration as ponds
can provide more food and a safe space, these factors finally result in changing the distribution.
(Sánchez Zapata J A, Anadón J D, Carrete M, et al. 2015) .
Sewage treatment plants are really common and important infrastructures as they play a significant
part in daily life. Almost every river people can find at least one plants. Due to they can be considered
as special artificial ponds, they may have effects on distribution and persistence of water birds.
According to some article, we find that they do have effect of shorebirds (Jose A. Alves, et al, 2012)
However, there are no articles about if the sewage treatment plants have effect of water birds
distribution and persistence. If they do have effect, we still try to find out it s a negative effect or a

Snopes In Barn Burning
Family is the core of society. It is within this nurturing environment that hopes and dreams are
constructed and allowed to grow. Children learn the basic moral values and the socially acceptable
codes of conduct necessary for later life, but they can also absorb unacceptable behaviors by
observing those around them. In Barn Burning, William Faulkner chronicles the life of Abner Snopes,
and the less than perfect relationship he has with his relatives and son, Sartoris. Snopes is a very bitter
and discontented man, one who is envious of his rich land owning neighbors. As a rather violent man,
he has an insatiable desire to control people, and instill fear in their hearts.
Despite his shortcomings, the theme of family loyalty is brought into perspective by Snopes. He
values his familial bonds above all else, even the law. Snopes believes that every family should stand
up for each other, no matter the situation or differences they may have. Unfortunately for his family
(especially his son), Snopes often fails to live up to this ideal. After the court proceedings, Sartoris is

in the sentence: The wagon went on, the store with its quiet crowd of grimly watching men dropped
behind; a curve in the road hid it. (333) Faulkner begins describing how the Snopes family was
leaving the store, but he does not end the sentence expectedly, as he instead states how the corner hid

A Research On Toxic Leadership
Toxic Leadership
Barbara A. Whatcott
Southwestern Oklahoma State University
In today s business environment, leadership is a major topic of discussion and concern. Having the
right leaders in place could be the difference between a successful business and unequivocal failure.
There are many different leadership styles that are proven to be effective and then there is the type of
leadership that leads a business in the opposite direction. This type of leadership is known as toxic
leadership. Research has shown there to be many defining characteristics of a toxic leader and there
are identifiable signs that may be indicative of a toxic workplace. The effects of this type of leadership
and the environment that it creates can be far reaching. However, there are ways to assist individuals
with protecting themselves from a toxic leader and the negative results of working in a toxic
environment.
The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They
have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a
failure of LEADERSHIP. Colin Powell
This quote by Colin Powell describes toxic leadership in the Armed Forces. Toxic leadership is a
failure of leadership. A toxic leader does not lead, they poison the workforce and tarnish the reputation
of organization. Toxic leadership can exist anywhere, from the private sector to the government, to our
military Armed Forces.

What is the American Dream? Is it wealth and power? Or is it liberty and freedom? The American
Dream is different for every individual. In Gatsby s case, his dream revolves around the pursuit of
Daisy. The Declaration of Independence states, All men are created equal, that they are endowed by
their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and pursuit of
Happiness. This statement compresses the wide array of American Dreams into one statement. The
pursuit of happiness is different for every human being. Gatsby s dream was to rise out of a low
economic level and into high wealth, winning Daisy over along the way. The dream of finding fortune,
fame, and true love is something that almost all Americans strive for (Galley). Gatsby was too
ambitious in the pursuit of his dream. During his struggle for Daisy, he failed to recognize that his
vision was not attainable. The American Dream causes corruption in the world. Jay Gatsby
symbolized the quest for the American Dream. He had an extraordinary gift for hope... such as I have
never found in any person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again (Fitzgerald 2). Gatsby

The American Dream is very similar to the story of Sisyphus. Our dream is to reach the top of the hill,
but the boulder continually rolls back down to the bottom. The role of ambition plays a key role in the
quest for the American Dream. Gatsby was too ambitious and he was killed as a result. Fitzgerald s
story is not a commentary on the American Dream in a common sense. It shows negative effects and
criticizes the American Dream. The reality is that we do not always know our American Dream. Until
we truly know what makes us happy, we do not know how to get there. As Tommy Hilfiger said, The
road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive, and passion, it s possible to achieve

The Weaknesses of the Parti Quebecois Bill 60
Secularism Long before the October Crisis in the 1970 s, the Parti Quebecois has been trying to
separate from Canada. The Parti Quebecois has implemented their own charter called Bill 60 in order
amend the current Canada Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is entrenched in the Constitution of
Canada. If this proposed bill were to be passed, it will cause many problems amongst the citizens of
Quebec in terms of diversity as it will be banning some of the most important guaranteed rights stated
in the Constitution: Freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Although there are positives to a
secular state, there are also a few negatives if you were to look closely. Citizens moved to places like
Canada to practice their freedom, not to have them taken away. Taking away these rights could start
separatist groups and maybe even start wars within the province of Quebec. The reason why this bill is
being proposed it that they Parti Quebecois would like to see more equality between men and women
(cbc.ca). There really is no reason for this bill to be passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly
because they are afraid of losing their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular
charter, which has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. If passed,
public sector employees such as teachers, police officers, doctors, and even politicians will be banned
from wearing any religious symbol. Once the bill was proposed, it started a back and

Theme Of Empathy In To Kill A Mockingbird
In Maycomb County, Alabama lives an immature man incapable of empathy because he dwells inside
his isolating prison away from the rest of Maycomb. In Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird,
published in 1960, she includes these caricatures of Maycomb Southerners in the 1930s living
amongst sociopath Arthur Boo Radley. His family imprisoned Boo, middle aged man, on the accounts
of being unstable; yet, he is a paternal guardian to the Finch children from afar. In the 1930s, teenage
delinquency is unacceptable in a local community, forcing him to conform to a social recluse. The
historical 1930s prose does not recognize Boo s childish behavior because the Great Depression and
upcoming World War I tensions led to a loss of innocence in teenagers. But as Scout and Jem
mustered the courage to interact with Boo, these opportunities permit him to enact the father like
empathy Mr. Radley denied him as a teenager. Lee includes interactions between the Finch children
with Boo in order to give him opportunities to develop empathy past his private nature, suggesting
wholesome relationships are possible to achieve through empathy, overpowering familial interference.
Despite Boo s absence from other community members, he exhibits empathy for the Finch children,
Scout and Jem. He offers tokens of kindness like sewing and leaving Jem s pants folded across the
fence...like they were expecting [Jem]... when the pants snagged on the Radley house fence (78). The

The Importance Of Play On Child Development
Introduction to the Issues and Literature Review Play is an important part of children s development,
as it helps us to understand their emotional, social, and physical/motor development. Interaction
during play, or lack their of, can help to explain a child s temperance, their comprehension of social
rules, and their understanding of others (Allen, 2008; Franklin, 2000; Rothbart and Jones, 1998).
Physical and motor movements in play can depict a child s sensory tolerance and preferences
(Williamson and Anazalone, 2008). Most notable, all of these systems work together in play to
understand the rates at which a child is developing and in which areas more support may be needed.
As Rothbart and Jones discuss in their piece Temperament, self regulation and education, children that
have a stronger Behavioral Inhibition System (fear or anxiety reactions) may be more likely to display
introverted or inhibited behavior (1998). These children may be more susceptible to becoming
discouraged and may require more positive feedback from their peers or adults. To further explain,
they might fear punishment for their actions and need positive reinforcement that their behavior is
socially acceptable or they may doubt their own abilities to perform in certain situations. A child s
estimation of their abilities and likelihood of their success in a given situation also may be affected if
he or she tends to be more fearful. They may avoid situations where they feel inadequate and avoid

  • 2. The Economy Of The Us Auto Industry The US Auto industry is facing the reality that new generations are not the same generations on which they built their empires. As information and global awareness are more prevalent than ever before, the consumer only wants to do what feels right to them, not what they have been told to want, and statistic show that the things the new consumer is looking for above all, is the lower cost of owning a car, followed fuel efficiency and how environmentally friendly it is. After the boom of urban sprawled life with the baby boomers, that was maintained to a certain degree by generation X, the car industry thrived, along with the housing prices, and sales, both industries, housing and automobile, achieved their greatest heights together, and were similarly affected when the Great Recession hit. Some have suggested that the automobile sector has experienced the same bubble as the housing sector and that it will never return to boom conditions again (Boudette and Shirouzu 2008). As the car industry is in the process of recuperation, and as it climbs it is faced with the new reality of a changing demographics of its consumers. Generation Y is now the prime target for the auto industry, they are also the largest potential consumer market, and the auto industry has to work on getting this new generation interested in their products. To achieve this goal, it is important that the industry acknowledge that the consumer patterns are not the same. A global consciousness has developed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Theory and Practice paper you looked at some of key learning theories and how these might be used in clinical teaching. There have been some huge shifts in recent years in the NHS and Higher Education which have changed the cultures of both. Without going into long sociological explanations, it is useful just to think of some of the key changes and look at how these have impacted on the role of and expectations from clinical teachers. Since the late 1990s, when national initiatives to reform undergraduate and postgraduate medical education were introduced, medical education (which includes clinical training) has gradually placed greater expectations and more responsibilities on clinical teachers. The Department of Health initiative UMCISS (Undergraduate Medical Curriculum Implementation Support Scheme) which supported the reform of all undergraduate curricula in response to Tomorrow s Doctors (GMC, 1993) had a huge impact on undergraduate medical education. New teaching and learning methods were introduced into courses such as problem based learning, video teaching and web based learning and the courses themselves became less informal and more structured in terms of design, delivery and evaluation. Courses were expected to clearly define aims and learning outcomes, modes of delivery and assessment and the national agencies responsible for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An extensive amount of African American had moved to the city during and after world war II, and by the time of the civil rights movement, the black community had accounted for 15 percent of Milwaukee s population . It isn t a surprise that majority of African Americans in Milwaukee lived in the north side of the city, which accumulated increasing volatility due to limited job opportunities, poverty, and segregation.Racial segregation in Milwaukee and around the world has always been a phenomenon with intricate historical roots. The complex history of slavery, employment discrimination, tax inequity, redlining, discriminatory housing policies, and multiple other issue have lead Milwaukee to be segregated. Despite the fact that Milwaukee s has a unique history, social forces and government policies created and reinforced residential segregation throughout the united states, so why is Milwaukee worse than most cities in America? Well suburban housing is more expensive than city housing and another thing that distinguishes metro Milwaukee from other areas is the incredible racial disparity in median household incomes in metro Milwaukee, which prevents many minorities from being able to afford suburban housing. So segregation is a huge problem in the milwaukee metro area because of the racial disparity in median household incomes, education, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During his reign as emperor which ran for about four and a half decades, Gaius institutionalized Rome with ideologies and notions that were centered on the combined traditions of Republican Rome and the realities of the kingship concept. Gaius Octavian was conferred with the title of Augustus in 27 B.C by the senate. The honorific title of Augustus was a reflection of connotations stateliness and dignity. Prior to the conferment of the title, an official imperial portrait that embodied the qualities wished to be projected by Octavian the Emperor Augustus was created. Patient Safety Thermometer Patient Safety Thermometer In 2011, even before the Francis report was published, around 1000 frontline clinicians from strategic health authorities took part in a safety express pilot. The pilot was designed to test innovative way to achieve a reduction in patient harm. However, one of the programme s successes was a simple audit tool, the Patient Safety Thermometer (Buckley, 2014). The NHS Patient Safety Thermometer (PST) has been designed to be used by all frontline healthcare professionals. Power et al (2012), indicates that the PST can be used to take a snapshot measure of pressure ulcers, harm from falls, urinary tract infection in patients with catheters and VTE. Through the use of minimal set data, the PST helps signal where individuals, teams and organisations might need to focus more on detailed measurement, training and improvement (Power et al, 2012). It should be noted that the NHS Patient Safety Thermometer measures prevalence, not incidence, therefore it is of benefit to understand the difference between these and how these harms are measured in the tool ( Table 4). The PST provides a temperature check on harm that can be used alongside other measure of harm to measure local and system progress in providing a care environment that is free of harm (NHS, 2013). Marine Marcoalgaes Lab Report Photosynthesis of marine marcoalgaes split into 2 processes; light reaction (photochemical reaction which is affected by concentration of the chlorophyll and irradiance) and the dark reaction (chemical process, where temperature and concentration of the substrate influence on). However between those two reactions, there is an intermediates metabolic process, where NADPH and ATP are produced. The amount of produced NADPH and ATP depends upon light limitation, which later results of dark reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesis pigments function is to absorb the light energy as photons. This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all other pigments have the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation cost less energy. • 8. Effects Of Artificial Gravity Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of gravity. It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts. Artificial gravity can be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes a body follow a curved path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its center, the force of rotation would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the astronaut to experience an outwards force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be calculated by using the radius between the center of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut would experience. Think of it as spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds. The farther you lean your body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force you feel and the more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts need the sense of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have evolved to live on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body can experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur. When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put the same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A considerable amount of people hold a common belief that the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare is a tragedy, due to the fact that all the main characters perish at the end of the play. An individual might take this stance on this argument upon first hearing. However, the reality of the situation is that there are numerous parts of the play that show that this statement is not only incorrect, but an oversimplified version of the bigger truth. As with Ophelia s tragedy, Laertes suffers a tragedy of being deceived and used by Claudius as a result of Hamlet s impulsive behavior as well, further assuring that the tragedy exhibits itself in the conclusions drawn by the characters in the story. The tragedy inside Laertes that is the causation of Hamlet s killing of Polonius is evident through the scene where Laertes confronts Claudius on why he did not punish Hamlet for his malicious act. Claudius then goes on to trick Laertes into plotting against Hamlet, and Laertes proclaims, And so I have a noble father lost;/A sister driven into desperate terms/Whose worth. if praises may go back again,/Stood challenger on mount of all the age/For her perfections. But my revenge will come (4.7.27 31.) At this moment in time, it can be seen that while Laertes expresses his emotions of rage, he is being manipulated by Claudius, as well as how the dramatic purpose shows character development, as the tragic outcome of being tricked like this for personal gain stems from that of how Hamlet s actions had resulted in the loss of his father, which was ultimately one of Hamlet s rash decisions. University of Virginia an Ohio court clarified that this contractual relationship is particularly applicable if a scholarship or financial aid is involved in the relationship. Thus, the only contractual relationship former student athletes have with the NCAA is as a third party beneficiary. Generally, student athletes are not third party beneficiaries of the NCAA. However, Bloom v. NCAA clarified that a student athlete may have standing as a third party beneficiary to the contractual relationship between the NCAA and its member schools. He puts so many conflicts in the story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way men put their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols, conflict, and motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the expensive rug he soils. Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this eventually leads to the destruction of the rug. There really is no reason for this bill to be passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly because they are afraid of losing their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular charter, which has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. If passed, public sector employees such as teachers, police officers, doctors, and even politicians will be banned from wearing any religious symbol. • 43. Theme Of Empathy In To Kill A Mockingbird In Maycomb County, Alabama lives an immature man incapable of empathy because he dwells inside his isolating prison away from the rest of Maycomb. In Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, published in 1960, she includes these caricatures of Maycomb Southerners in the 1930s living amongst sociopath Arthur Boo Radley. His family imprisoned Boo, middle aged man, on the accounts of being unstable; yet, he is a paternal guardian to the Finch children from afar. In the 1930s, teenage delinquency is unacceptable in a local community, forcing him to conform to a social recluse. The historical 1930s prose does not recognize Boo s childish behavior because the Great Depression and upcoming World War I tensions led to a loss of innocence in teenagers. But as Scout and Jem mustered the courage to interact with Boo, these opportunities permit him to enact the father like empathy Mr. Radley denied him as a teenager. Lee includes interactions between the Finch children with Boo in order to give him opportunities to develop empathy past his private nature, suggesting wholesome relationships are possible to achieve through empathy, overpowering familial interference. Despite Boo s absence from other community members, he exhibits empathy for the Finch children, Scout and Jem. He offers tokens of kindness like sewing and leaving Jem s pants folded across the fence...like they were expecting [Jem]... when the pants snagged on the Radley house fence (78). The crude stitches on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Importance Of Play On Child Development Introduction to the Issues and Literature Review Play is an important part of children s development, as it helps us to understand their emotional, social, and physical/motor development. Interaction during play, or lack their of, can help to explain a child s temperance, their comprehension of social rules, and their understanding of others (Allen, 2008; Franklin, 2000; Rothbart and Jones, 1998). Physical and motor movements in play can depict a child s sensory tolerance and preferences (Williamson and Anazalone, 2008). Most notable, all of these systems work together in play to understand the rates at which a child is developing and in which areas more support may be needed. As Rothbart and Jones discuss in their piece Temperament, self regulation and education, children that have a stronger Behavioral Inhibition System (fear or anxiety reactions) may be more likely to display introverted or inhibited behavior (1998). These children may be more susceptible to becoming discouraged and may require more positive feedback from their peers or adults. To further explain, they might fear punishment for their actions and need positive reinforcement that their behavior is socially acceptable or they may doubt their own abilities to perform in certain situations. A child s estimation of their abilities and likelihood of their success in a given situation also may be affected if he or she tends to be more fearful. They may avoid situations where they feel inadequate and avoid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
