Third Country Processing In Australia
Immigration, worldwide, is under pressure. At present, Australia s immigration system and policies are
not in compliance to the international and constitutional obligations particularly in regards to the
system of Third Country Processing . On 13 August 2012, Third country processing was introduced
for asylum seekers. The asylum seekers who venture to Australia by boat without a valid visa, must be
transferred at the earliest convenience to a third country, specifically Nauru or Papua New Guinea
(PNG), unless the Minister of Immigration states otherwise (Australian Human Rights Commission,
2014). A brief overview of the timeline of third country processing in Australia shows that on 13
August 2012, the regime was initially only for asylum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also possibly be extended to its actions outside of Australian territory (Legal Consequences of
the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, 2004). If Australia is considered to
have effective control over the treatment of asylum seekers whom they have or already transferred to a
third country, then Australia is obligated to continue to treat them consistently whilst upholding the
human rights obligations it was agreed to bound by according to the decisions made in the European
Court of Human Rights in Bankovic v. Belgium and other in 2001. However, there have been multiple
cases which have caught the attention of UN Human Rights Council in the recent report of UN Special
Rapporteur on Torture. One of the cases (Case No. AUS 4/2014) mentioned the allegations concerning
the situation of two Sri Lankan asylum seekers and migrants (203 in total), and their secluded
detention and imminent deportation to Sri Lanka by the Australia Government, in contravention of
Australia s non refoulement obligations. When the Australian Government made a state reply on the
10th of July 2014, 2 days after the case was noticed, The Rapporteur found that the Government fails
to fully and expeditiously comply with its international customary law obligations to investigate,

Shut your eyes to estrangement, then fix your gaze upon unity... This span of earth is but one

prisoner in a culturally stunted corner of the 19th century mideast have with the progressive spirit of
our age? The spirit of a beaten mankind arising, phoenix like, from the ashes of pride and prejudice to
the glory of unity and brotherhood. Well, everything. Biased though I may be, as a Baha i I also
embrace wholeheartedly the inspiration of every visionary that has called for a wider appreciation of
humanity. Thoreau, Tolstoy, Gandhi and Dr. King come readily to mind. Today Baha is everywhere

pause and glance at the quiet revolution of human consciousness brought about by this serene child
prodigy born on 12 November, 1817 to one Khadijih Khanum and Mirza Buzurg. A few years back I
threw myself into an amateur historical research project. Mainly for my own sport. My ambitious
purport was to scan through all the known historical figures preceding Baha u llah. Leastways those

outset I summarily dismissed all hypocritical imperialist declarations and manifests for world peace.

In The Philosophy Of Mind, One Of The Most Prominent...
In the philosophy of mind, one of the most prominent philosophical theories is Monism. Monism, by
itself, is the theory that reality consists of only one kind of substance. Likewise, Anomalous Monism
theorized and developed by Donald Davidson in his work, Mental Events, proposes that reality
consists of one kind of substance, namely, physical substance. That is, according to Davidson, all
mental events are a part of the physical realm. Furthermore, Anomalous Monism, also known as the
token identity theory, is Davidson s attempt to rectify the problem of the mind body relationship which
questions how the human mind and the body can causally interact. However, it appears that Davidson
s Anomalous Monism states a contradiction. As such, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the acceptance of the principle of anomalism of the mental would have us deny that there is
such a causal law. On the other hand, if one accepts the truth of the principle of the nomological
character of causality and the principle of anomalism of the mental, it would imply that mental and
physical events do not causally interact. But how can this be the case if we were to accept the truth of
the principle of causal interaction? Lastly, the third contradiction arises from accepting the truth in the
principle of causal interaction and the principle of anomalism of the mental. By accepting these two
principles/statements, it would imply that there are no causal laws that dictate such causal
relationships.
Acknowledging these contradictions, Davidson proposes a solution to reconcile these contradictory
principles/statements. The solution is to have mental events be described as physical events. In other
words, Davidson argues that mental events which causes physical events are subject to a causal law
only when the mental event is described under a physical description. If, however, the mental event is
described as a mental event then the principle of anomalism of the mental would dictate that there is
no causal law. But, as David argues, the solution is to not describe it as a mental event but to describe
it as a

College Students In Debt Analysis
A recent study done in 2012 has shown that about 1.3 million college students are in debt, that is a rise
from 2008 study with only 1.1 million students in debt. Throughout our country s history, education
has always been important and we have always allowed and pushed every citizen to get an education.
Of course, some will argue that college can be affordable due to scholarships, choosing to work before
going to school, or going to a community college. The reality is, most high school seniors who want to
pursue college want a real education and want to go away to study without the weight of knowing they
will be owing thousands in loans. As an American citizen these students have the right to being able to
attend their college of choice and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through research, many countries around the world give their citizens options for affordable
secondary education. For example, Mexico, Belgium, Germany, and France are just some of the
countries with free or affordable education, in fact, Mexico s public universities are almost completely
free. Paraphrased from Topuniversities.com, Based on official figures from the German Education
Exchange, that the average cost of studying in Germany is roughly $10,520 per year. Germany pays
higher taxes than the United States, that is how the tuition is practically free. Germans pay a 39.5%
social tax, while Americans only pay a 24.8% social tax (Kohli, 2015). Americans pay social taxes just
like Germans but America s social tax is not high and the tax does not go toward secondary education
the way it does in Germany. Germany s social tax helps their older citizens and their younger citizens,
something the American government needs to look at doing. Next, Belgium also pays a higher social
tax, their social tax is higher but the only thing that changes the cost of the education is where it is
located. As stated by editor Dana Vioreanu Belgium bases their tuition off of the regions in Belgium
and almost none of the universities charge more than 835 EUR per year (Vioreanu, 2016). Belgium
charges what they do because of where the colleges are located, if a college is in an expensive

Essay An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form
An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form Wideman s quotation from Brothers and Keepers could be
interpreted to say a number of different things. The interpretation I could make is no person could
explain the reason things are the way they are in life. In trying to come up with a logical answer they
dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that
things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have
the power to control their own destinies. They are simply a product of their own environments and the
events that make and shape them. John Edgar Wideman s Our Time is an essay ... Show more content

The epilogue helps me to kind of understand where John and Robby are coming from but still does not
justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member
died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a
picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of
Robby s friend Garth in Robby s point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby s
behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views
Robby. He understands Robby s behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that
Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that
Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby
in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a
book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby s story because he was
tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar
seems very sick, he s stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of
it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. He vowed to make it to the top of the

Should Schools Display The Ten Commandments
Why don t schools display the ten commandments To many people think that the ten commandments
are out of date, but the ten commandments could help students more than a code of ethics. More and
more schools are removing the ten commandments from their schools. Even though separation of state
and religion is a law, it could be offensive to non christian, and the ten commandments are viewed as
out of date. The ten commandments should still be displayed in public government buildings and in
schools. Just because some supreme court decided it illegal to display the ten commandments in
public buildings doesn t mean that he ruling can t be overturned let s look at some statistics on this
subject. So here some statistics taken on february 25 27 of 2005. The question asked was do you think
supreme court should or should not allow the texas state government to display a monument to the ten
commandments? 76% said they should. Here more statistics taken on february 25 27, 2005. The
question was how would you, personally, feel if there was a monument to the ten commandments on
the grounds of your state s capitol building? 56% found it appropriate while 24% did care and only
20% found it inappropriate. There also some statistics from june 25 27, 1999. The question asked was
do you favor or oppose allowing public schools to display the ten commandments? 74% favored it. So

The unit of analysis is an individual instead of a trip. The coefficient is insignificant, suggesting that
individuals do not choose to avoid driving trips altogether after reading environmental coverage. In
many cases, there are not adequate substitutes for driving. For example, if a household is located in a
rural or suburban area, many or all of the potential destina tions for day to day travel may be
inaccessible without driving. Even in urban areas options such as walking or public transit may be
unappealing if the weather is partic 24 ularly unpleasant. In column (2) of Table 5, I focus on
households that have readier substitutes for driving those who live in urban areas on days when the
temperature is between 50°F and 85°F (10°C and 30°C). The results show that individuals in these
households do indeed drive less. For every environmental articles they receive in the past week they
reduce the number of driving trips per day by approximately 0.14. Column (4) shows that
environmental coverage increases the number of walking trips on these days by 0.10, suggesting that
much of this is substitution towards walking. Individuals are not choosing to avoid trips because of
environmental coverage, but are switching to low or no emissions modes of travel if those modes are
reasonable substitutes. The results in Tables 2, 4, and 5 paint a consistent picture. If an individual is

Importance And Importance Of Assembly Line
Importance of the Moving Assembly Line and the Model T Ford Before the world entered into the
Industrial Revolution, all goods were made by hand and took weeks to months to produce. After the
Industrial Revolution had begun, the first concept of the assembly line was created. The assembly line
was comprised of each individual worker doing a certain job of producing a single part of the final
product. Prior to Henry Ford, assembly lines involved horses carrying parts from one worker to the
next to create the end product. The implementation of Ford s moving assembly line established a
world where mass production found widespread popularity for being the dawn of the automotive
industry due to its many benefits. Prior to Ford s moving assembly line, the Model T was a luxury
only accessible to the wealthy, yet it later became a car for all. The Model T was a car that followed
the production of the Model N both of which were meant to be cheap in comparison to earlier
automobiles. From its inception, the Model T has been meant to be the first car readily available to the
masses. Before the moving assembly line was implemented, the Model T was already a sturdy and
relatively inexpensive automobile yet, not inexpensive enough for Ford who was determined to build

An example of mass production meeting those needs is the modern cell phone of which Samsung has

something in large quantities, therefore a product can not be produced in large amounts without an
assembly line automating the task at hand. The task of mass production can only ever be achieved

Dbq Cherokee Indian Removal
All men are equal but not the Cherokees? It was not necessary for the Cherokees to be removed from
their land because the Cherokee had many rights and many of them were violated by the government.
The Cherokee were trying everything they could to stay in their land but they could not. For they were
removed inhumanely while attempting to save their nation from being wiped off the face of the earth.
The Cherokee indians were being forced out of the land that rightfully belonged to them. During the
indian removal act of 1830 the Cherokee indians were being forced off their land that was rightfully
theirs for natural resources, gold, and land that the United States of America said that belonged to

Strategic Stewardship
As a private church school where the majority of students come from the sponsoring church and the
churches in the surrounding areas, it is imperative that the school to operate in a spiritual climate that
fosters a strong Biblical curriculum and chapel program that parents want. The primary reason that the
families send their children to our school is that the truths of Scripture are openly and passionately
taught in the classrooms, as well as prayers and the discipleship worldview in all areas of life are

The textbook talks about increasing marginal values by recruiting, hiring and retaining quality
teachers. The school currently has dedicated and wonderful teachers who are willing to sacrifice
higher paying public school positions and teach at the Christian school because they love the spiritual
and family like school atmosphere. However, the school has to face the fact that less than 25% of
teachers have advanced degrees currently. To be academically competitive with public schools and
other private schools in the vicinity, hiring more high caliber teachers is an absolute necessity. This
again is a costly endeavor. Creating differentiated salary ranges suggested by the author in the text
might be a good way to recruit quality teachers without financially burdening parents too much.
Achieving academic excellence will help to attract parents who want their children to receive
spiritually sound as well as academically challenging quality education.
Maintaining and upgrading facilities is another area that needs attention. Replacing an old roof and
applying a fresh coat of paints inside and outside of the building will project more welcoming feeling
to potential parents and students. Repurposing existing offices and classrooms and upgrading media
center should be considered in strategic planning.

The Gulag
One day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich by Alex Solzhenitsyn, published in 1962 describes the Gulag
as a prison used by the Soviet government under Stalin to dehumanize it s prisoners. Despite being in
the Gulag, Alexander Solzhenitsyn manages to survive these experiences and describes them through
the use of Ivan and his fellow protagonists. Solzhenitsyn explores this topic by employing vivid
imagery while appealing to the Russian people with his symbolism and allegories. The combination of
themes and motifs communicate to the Russian people how a few prisoners managed to survive in
such a prison that was meant to take away their humanity and transform them into mindless slaves.

Csikszentmihalyi s Happiness Revisited
Authored by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Happiness Revisited is a study on happiness and creativity.
Csikszentmihalyi defines happiness in terms of how we achieve it. He suggests that people achieve
happiness not by trying to look for it directly (609) but by looking for it directly. He also added that by
achieving control over the contents of our consciousness (609), a circuitous path begins, thus the
beginning of achieving happiness. Further, Csikszentmihalyi stated that just like happiness, success is
not to be pursued but ensued. This statement is ideally illustrated by Viktor Frankl s book on Man s
Search for meaning: Don t aim at success the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are
going to miss it (609). As quoted by Csikszentmihalyi that people often end up feeling that their lives
have been wasted, and instead of being filled with happiness their years were spent in anxiety and
boredom (608). He added that despite the comfort of today s modern living; the contentment does not

Essay on John Hersey s Hiroshima
John Hersey s Hiroshima
In John Hersey s Hiroshima, he based his book upon the one perspective that, the bombing of
Hiroshima was an act of inhumanity. What Hersey failed to do was to give the perspective of the
Americans. Hersey did not account for the Pearl Harbor bombing of 1941 or the death march in the
Japanese Bataan Camps in 1942. Without giving both perspectives, Hersey does not give the reader a
fair chance to form their own opinion; instead, the reader is swayed into Hersey s bias beliefs of the
event. Hersey s Hiroshima was originally an article written for The New Yorker Magazine in order to

One scientist from the Manhattan Project, the creators of the atomic bomb, in response to Hersey s
article in the New Yorker wrote, I am filled with such shame to recall the whoopee spirit, at the
announcement of bombing Hiroshima (The New Yorker). This type of reaction, after reading Hersey s
vivid work on the Hiroshima bombing, is understandable and expected. What Hersey failed to do was
to give the other perspective, of why America took these actions against Hiroshima? The two major
historic events that Hersey failed to mention were the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death march at
the Bataan Camps. These two instances show the attacks that Japan made against America. December
7, 1941, Japan performed a surprise attack on America at Pearl Harbor. According to Japanese feudal
code of honor, the idea of a surprise is recommended and it raises no moral problems (Sulzberger
146). During Japan s attack, they broke the seal of trust. Japan s Ambassador and Diplomatic agent
were in Washington pretending to have been seeking a negotiated settlement between the two
countries (Sulzberger 146). America lost over 3,000 service men from this bombing. This type of
betrayal could only cause anger and determination to strike back. The death march at the Japanese
Bataan Camp, of April 1942, Japanese officers enslaved about 75,000 men, 12,000 of which were
American soldiers (Bergamini 1168). The soldiers were forced to march sixty miles with

Effects Of Music On Rosa Chinensis Plants
The last study that I reviewed was a study ran by Vidya Chivukula and Shivaraman Ramaswamy
called, Effects of Music on Rosa Chinensis plants. Chivukula was a biotechnology major and
Ramaswamy has a masters in nanotechnology. Their experiment tested to see if Rosa Chineses plant
growth was effected by music or sound in their surroundings. They chose to run this experiment
because they believed it would be beneficial to understand the growth of a plant and how its
surroundings may affect it. For this experiment that took thirty bulbs from one mother Rosa plants and
separated them into five groups. One group was the controlled group and the other four were given a
certain type of music to grow with, rock, Western classical, Indian classical, and verdic chants. These
plants were exposed to this music for sixty minutes in the morning between 6:00 AM 7:00 AM,
immediately after sun rise for a period of sixty two days. They made sure that each group was given
the same of water, sunlight and blockage from ambient noise. This experiment did not have as much
background information as the other source but gave similar results. The plants exposed to Indian
classical, Vedic chants, and Western classical grew much more than silence and even more than rock.
Rock in the experiment seemed to hurt the plants, similar to Retallack s results.

Giardia Intestitis
Giardiasis is a diarrheal infection, caused by the microscopic parasite Giardia lamblia, and one of the
most common intestinal parasitic disease affecting humans in the United States. Parasitic organisms
need to feed off their host to survive. Giardia lamblia is a pathogenic flagellated protozoan, and the
most common flagellate isolated in clinical specimens. However, due to the variability in the
concentration of the organisms found in the various stool samples, sensitive and specific fecal
immunoassays should be used for detection of the Giardia trophozoites and cysts. While viewing the
trophozoite straight on, the ventral view presents a unique symmetrical heart shape, this with the

Once ingested, the cyst undergoes, excystation (parasites escape cyst) within the stomach and
duodenum because of the acids and enzymes present. Each cyst produces two trophozoites, and as
they reach the small intestine, begin to multiply rapidly. It is as the trophozoites enter the large
intestine that encystation occurs (the process of forming the cyst), due to the presence of neutral pH
and secondary bile salts. The cysts then continue toward the colon, exiting in the feces and out into the
environment. Although both the trophozoites and cysts are present in the stool, it is the cyst that is the
means of transmission of the parasite. The Giardia cysts are resilient forms that have the capability to
survive for two months in the environment. This parasite is typically found in freshwater
environments such as rivers, lakes, municipal water systems, wells and swimming pools. These fresh
bodies of water can harbor Giardia through fecal, human or animal contamination. The cycle then
continues as the cysts are once again ingested along with water or food contaminated by infected
people, objects or animals. It takes as little as, 10 to 100 cysts, for transmission to occur, which
compounds the probability of infection as this parasite is found

Many readers of the book The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon may
conclude that the father of Christopher is in the absolute wrong for hiding and lying about his mother s
death to Christopher. The father is doing his best to take care of a special kid who does not fully
understand human emotions and feelings which creates a barrier to the outside world. As the book
progresses the father does hit Christopher, but that is a simple reaction to Christopher s persistent
pushing around. Eventhough alcohol creates some of the anger in the father, the alcohol I think is a
coping mechanism for the father to get over his wife leaving him. Christopher s father really loves his

Skin Breakdown Paper
Background For my practice I was fortunate to be able to work at the Bethany in Cochrane. This
facility was well kept and has much of the equipment to properly and holistically care for their
residents. While in practice, I was able to help with a variety of tasks, including morning care and bed
making. An essential element of morning care was a skin assessment, typically to look for bruises, dry
spots, and most importantly, ulcers. Ulcers are painful and can decrease quality of life (Ricci, 2013).
Skin breakdown is typically caused by moisture, skin pH, microorganisms, and friction (Flynn, 2011).
The use of stretchy polyester cotton blend sheets at the facility led to the inquiry of skin integrity and
the influence of fabrics on aging skin. I began to wonder if fabric breathability make that much of a
difference, which lead me to the question of fabrics and facts. Does the use of polyester sheets, cotton

For this study researchers assessed 32 different fabrics made of polyester, cotton, viscose fibers,
polypropylene, and a blend of the fabrics to determine the thermal conductivity, the wicking ability,
the breathability of the fabric, and the fabrics ability to absorb water (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In order to
collect accurate data researchers used an Alambeta thermos tester, a specialized machine to measure
heat and moisture. In this study, polyester and cotton alone caused higher thermal resistance than a
cotton polyester blend (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). A strait cotton or polyester blend was found to be better at
wicking away moisture, which is one of the main causes of skin breakdown (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In the
conclusion of the study the researchers determined that channeled polyester was the best choice for
bedsheets due to combined factors (Basal Ilgaz,

The Effects Of War On Soldiers By Erich Maria Remarque s...
The effects of war on soldiers cannot be understated. Soldiers throughout history have suffered, both
physically and mentally. Soldiers go through rigorous methods of preparation, making sure they are fit
to fight all types of enemies. This preparation helps mentally, but it is often not enough. Many soldiers
are not fit for the horrors of war, a scenario far more common during the days of military drafts.
Young men are thrown into wars, and leave with everlasting mental scars. Paul Bäumer, the center
piece of Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, is one of these young men. The
novel follows Paul s experience through World War I, as he gets a first hand look at the front line of
war. Readers experience almost all aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul joins a few locals in a discussion about the war. He is hounded about specific war actions, given
no option but to listen to varying opinions on the mistakes at the frontline. The locals dismiss Paul s
opinion, deeming him unknowledgeable. Their departing statement shows little to no respect to a
soldier fighting their war, saying I hope we will soon hear something worth while from you
(Remarque 168). A statement that is dismissive and insulting, and one that is echoed throughout the
town. Armchair generals often think they have all the answers during a war, when in fact they have no
experience in the war. They are often insulting and offensive, as seen in Paul s experience. These
members of society are often blinded by their own opinions, not taking into consideration the mental
strength it takes to fight for one s country. Paul does not find a home when he goes on leave. He finds
a foreign place that was once home. He is constantly reminded by the horrors of war, while he leasts
expects it, both physically and mentally. This struggle is met by the unintentional disrespect shown by
some of the locals. All this adds up to a mental struggle a soldiers should not have to deal with during
a time of leave, and one that will come back to him during his return to the frontline. The events of
Paul s homecoming had a lasting effect on his emotional stability during the war. Before his leave, he
shows little to no sign of emotional

Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone
Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is
experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker
of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting
because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive
diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with.
Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is
in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the
descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low.
(Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that
he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is
currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself
from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because
your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has
caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings
of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather

Not All Deviant Acts Are Criminal
Deviance affirms cultural values and norms, it also clarifies moral boundaries, promotes social unity
and provides jobs to control deviance. Deviant behaviour is contextual in nature in that cultural
differences make it very problematic to define deviance. One may ask this question on deviance, are
humans genetically predisposed at birth with the characteristics that make them act deviantly, or do
the people around them influence them to act this way. This writer seeks to expound on the fact that
deviance is not only criminal and will also highlight the causes and circumstances where individuals
end up exhibiting deviant behaviour. Deviance is defined by Haralambos (2006) as acts which do not

The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by stipulating that
men are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to their man. This is
explained in the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26. In this verse, women are
supposed to be submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the heads. The interpretation is
that the man has overall say over his wife or to some extent even sisters. This status usually ends up
with the man being abusive and inequity also takes place. In reaction and to some extent retaliation,
the women become deviant. They may stop respecting the man, they may start behaving in a wild
manner, dress the opposite and many other contrary actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule.
In the social set up, this deviance will not be criminal but results in some labelling. The radical
feminists argue that patriarchy promotes deviance. In this writer s society, women serve men in all
aspects be it household chores and sexual conjugal rights because of the norms of the area which are
highly patriarchal. The resultant effect is that man are in most cases abusive to the extent that they
batter their wives if they find no cooked food at home or if their clothes are not washed and ironed
properly. As a result of the abuse, women become rebellious and act otherwise resulting in them being
labelled deviant because of non conformity with societal values

First And Fourth Crusades Comparison Essay
Many have priorly stated that history repeats itself time and time again. This can be seen throughout
history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels between the First
and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade and how it
compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusade was launched in 1095 by Pope
Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting army swept through Asia Minor
and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way. Upon the successful conquering of the
region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves forming four crusader states: County of
Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and
dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs in the fourth crusade. Upon conquering
Constantinople in April of 1204, the crusaders proceed to divide the land among themselves much like
they did earlier. They divided the land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This crusade would grant remission of sin to those who undertook the crusade. Harris again remarks
on the similarities, The reaction in the papal curia when news arrived that Constantinople had fallen

Edition). Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that without Constantinople, the way to
Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy Land would fail. This call to crusade is
similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem.
However, here these parallels end. Unlike in the Third Crusade, Pope Urban IV s call for crusade fails
and no armies are sent forth. At least none that could constitute a strict crusade due to a lack of
promised remission of

For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all

tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere,

It began when the United States discovered that there were missiles in their neighboring country Cuba.
The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed their
missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of
Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last
second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban
Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the
parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades
because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the
Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile
Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades
started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the
Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take
over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles
into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former President and Communist Leader of
Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, died. No one is sure if the force of the revolution and the crisis
will dissipate without Mr. Castro and, eventually, his brother. But Fidel Castro s impact on Latin
America and the Western Hemisphere has the earmarks of lasting indefinitely (DePalma). The
capacity of his identity remains inevitable, for better or worse, not only in Cuba but also throughout

  • 2. Third Country Processing In Australia Immigration, worldwide, is under pressure. At present, Australia s immigration system and policies are not in compliance to the international and constitutional obligations particularly in regards to the system of Third Country Processing . On 13 August 2012, Third country processing was introduced for asylum seekers. The asylum seekers who venture to Australia by boat without a valid visa, must be transferred at the earliest convenience to a third country, specifically Nauru or Papua New Guinea (PNG), unless the Minister of Immigration states otherwise (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2014). A brief overview of the timeline of third country processing in Australia shows that on 13 August 2012, the regime was initially only for asylum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can also possibly be extended to its actions outside of Australian territory (Legal Consequences of the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, 2004). If Australia is considered to have effective control over the treatment of asylum seekers whom they have or already transferred to a third country, then Australia is obligated to continue to treat them consistently whilst upholding the human rights obligations it was agreed to bound by according to the decisions made in the European Court of Human Rights in Bankovic v. Belgium and other in 2001. However, there have been multiple cases which have caught the attention of UN Human Rights Council in the recent report of UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. One of the cases (Case No. AUS 4/2014) mentioned the allegations concerning the situation of two Sri Lankan asylum seekers and migrants (203 in total), and their secluded detention and imminent deportation to Sri Lanka by the Australia Government, in contravention of Australia s non refoulement obligations. When the Australian Government made a state reply on the 10th of July 2014, 2 days after the case was noticed, The Rapporteur found that the Government fails to fully and expeditiously comply with its international customary law obligations to investigate, ... • 4. The, Mahatma And Dr. King Shut your eyes to estrangement, then fix your gaze upon unity... This span of earth is but one homeland and one habitation. Baha u llah (1817 1892) What possible connection could a Persian prisoner in a culturally stunted corner of the 19th century mideast have with the progressive spirit of our age? The spirit of a beaten mankind arising, phoenix like, from the ashes of pride and prejudice to the glory of unity and brotherhood. Well, everything. Biased though I may be, as a Baha i I also embrace wholeheartedly the inspiration of every visionary that has called for a wider appreciation of humanity. Thoreau, Tolstoy, Gandhi and Dr. King come readily to mind. Today Baha is everywhere gather to commemorate the 196th anniversary of the birth of Baha u llah. It would be only befitting to pause and glance at the quiet revolution of human consciousness brought about by this serene child prodigy born on 12 November, 1817 to one Khadijih Khanum and Mirza Buzurg. A few years back I threw myself into an amateur historical research project. Mainly for my own sport. My ambitious purport was to scan through all the known historical figures preceding Baha u llah. Leastways those that have mentioned the unity of mankind or the brotherhood of man, even if only passingly. At the outset I summarily dismissed all hypocritical imperialist declarations and manifests for world peace. Such as the Roman Pax Romana or the Nazi German one People, one Nation, one Leader. • 5. In The Philosophy Of Mind, One Of The Most Prominent... In the philosophy of mind, one of the most prominent philosophical theories is Monism. Monism, by itself, is the theory that reality consists of only one kind of substance. Likewise, Anomalous Monism theorized and developed by Donald Davidson in his work, Mental Events, proposes that reality consists of one kind of substance, namely, physical substance. That is, according to Davidson, all mental events are a part of the physical realm. Furthermore, Anomalous Monism, also known as the token identity theory, is Davidson s attempt to rectify the problem of the mind body relationship which questions how the human mind and the body can causally interact. However, it appears that Davidson s Anomalous Monism states a contradiction. As such, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the acceptance of the principle of anomalism of the mental would have us deny that there is such a causal law. On the other hand, if one accepts the truth of the principle of the nomological character of causality and the principle of anomalism of the mental, it would imply that mental and physical events do not causally interact. But how can this be the case if we were to accept the truth of the principle of causal interaction? Lastly, the third contradiction arises from accepting the truth in the principle of causal interaction and the principle of anomalism of the mental. By accepting these two principles/statements, it would imply that there are no causal laws that dictate such causal relationships. Acknowledging these contradictions, Davidson proposes a solution to reconcile these contradictory principles/statements. The solution is to have mental events be described as physical events. In other words, Davidson argues that mental events which causes physical events are subject to a causal law only when the mental event is described under a physical description. If, however, the mental event is described as a mental event then the principle of anomalism of the mental would dictate that there is no causal law. But, as David argues, the solution is to not describe it as a mental event but to describe it as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

College Students In Debt Analysis A recent study done in 2012 has shown that about 1.3 million college students are in debt, that is a rise from 2008 study with only 1.1 million students in debt. Throughout our country s history, education has always been important and we have always allowed and pushed every citizen to get an education. Of course, some will argue that college can be affordable due to scholarships, choosing to work before going to school, or going to a community college. The reality is, most high school seniors who want to pursue college want a real education and want to go away to study without the weight of knowing they will be owing thousands in loans. Through research, many countries around the world give their citizens options for affordable secondary education. For example, Mexico, Belgium, Germany, and France are just some of the countries with free or affordable education, in fact, Mexico s public universities are almost completely free. Paraphrased from Topuniversities.com, Based on official figures from the German Education Exchange, that the average cost of studying in Germany is roughly $10,520 per year. Germany pays higher taxes than the United States, that is how the tuition is practically free. Germans pay a 39.5% social tax, while Americans only pay a 24.8% social tax (Kohli, 2015). Americans pay social taxes just like Germans but America s social tax is not high and the tax does not go toward secondary education the way it does in Germany. Germany s social tax helps their older citizens and their younger citizens, something the American government needs to look at doing. Next, Belgium also pays a higher social tax, their social tax is higher but the only thing that changes the cost of the education is where it is located. As stated by editor Dana Vioreanu Belgium bases their tuition off of the regions in Belgium and almost none of the universities charge more than 835 EUR per year (Vioreanu, 2016). Essay An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form Wideman s quotation from Brothers and Keepers could be interpreted to say a number of different things. The interpretation I could make is no person could explain the reason things are the way they are in life. In trying to come up with a logical answer they dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have the power to control their own destinies. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of Robby s friend Garth in Robby s point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby s behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views Robby. He understands Robby s behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby s story because he was tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar seems very sick, he s stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. Importance And Importance Of Assembly Line Importance of the Moving Assembly Line and the Model T Ford Before the world entered into the Industrial Revolution, all goods were made by hand and took weeks to months to produce. After the Industrial Revolution had begun, the first concept of the assembly line was created. The assembly line was comprised of each individual worker doing a certain job of producing a single part of the final product. Prior to Henry Ford, assembly lines involved horses carrying parts from one worker to the next to create the end product. The implementation of Ford s moving assembly line established a world where mass production found widespread popularity for being the dawn of the automotive industry due to its many benefits. He also added that by achieving control over the contents of our consciousness (609), a circuitous path begins, thus the beginning of achieving happiness. Further, Csikszentmihalyi stated that just like happiness, success is not to be pursued but ensued. This statement is ideally illustrated by Viktor Frankl s book on Man s Search for meaning: Don t aim at success the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it (609). As quoted by Csikszentmihalyi that people often end up feeling that their lives have been wasted, and instead of being filled with happiness their years were spent in anxiety and boredom (608). What Hersey failed to do was to give the other perspective, of why America took these actions against Hiroshima? The two major historic events that Hersey failed to mention were the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death march at the Bataan Camps. These two instances show the attacks that Japan made against America. December 7, 1941, Japan performed a surprise attack on America at Pearl Harbor. According to Japanese feudal code of honor, the idea of a surprise is recommended and it raises no moral problems (Sulzberger 146). During Japan s attack, they broke the seal of trust. Many readers of the book The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon may conclude that the father of Christopher is in the absolute wrong for hiding and lying about his mother s death to Christopher. The father is doing his best to take care of a special kid who does not fully understand human emotions and feelings which creates a barrier to the outside world. As the book progresses the father does hit Christopher, but that is a simple reaction to Christopher s persistent pushing around. Eventhough alcohol creates some of the anger in the father, the alcohol I think is a coping mechanism for the father to get over his wife leaving him. Christopher s father really loves his son, his love is hidden through indirect characterization and shows its parts throughout the book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 29. Skin Breakdown Paper Background For my practice I was fortunate to be able to work at the Bethany in Cochrane. This facility was well kept and has much of the equipment to properly and holistically care for their residents. While in practice, I was able to help with a variety of tasks, including morning care and bed making. An essential element of morning care was a skin assessment, typically to look for bruises, dry spots, and most importantly, ulcers. Ulcers are painful and can decrease quality of life (Ricci, 2013). Skin breakdown is typically caused by moisture, skin pH, microorganisms, and friction (Flynn, 2011). The use of stretchy polyester cotton blend sheets at the facility led to the inquiry of skin integrity and the influence of fabrics on aging skin. I began to wonder if fabric breathability make that much of a difference, which lead me to the question of fabrics and facts. Does the use of polyester sheets, cotton sheets, or cotton polyester blend sheets decrease the risk of skin breakdown in long term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this study researchers assessed 32 different fabrics made of polyester, cotton, viscose fibers, polypropylene, and a blend of the fabrics to determine the thermal conductivity, the wicking ability, the breathability of the fabric, and the fabrics ability to absorb water (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In order to collect accurate data researchers used an Alambeta thermos tester, a specialized machine to measure heat and moisture. In this study, polyester and cotton alone caused higher thermal resistance than a cotton polyester blend (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). A strait cotton or polyester blend was found to be better at wicking away moisture, which is one of the main causes of skin breakdown (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In the conclusion of the study the researchers determined that channeled polyester was the best choice for bedsheets due to combined factors (Basal Ilgaz, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Effects Of War On Soldiers By Erich Maria Remarque s... The effects of war on soldiers cannot be understated. Soldiers throughout history have suffered, both physically and mentally. Soldiers go through rigorous methods of preparation, making sure they are fit to fight all types of enemies. This preparation helps mentally, but it is often not enough. Many soldiers are not fit for the horrors of war, a scenario far more common during the days of military drafts. Young men are thrown into wars, and leave with everlasting mental scars. Paul Bäumer, the center piece of Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, is one of these young men. The novel follows Paul s experience through World War I, as he gets a first hand look at the front line of war. Readers experience almost all aspects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul joins a few locals in a discussion about the war. He is hounded about specific war actions, given no option but to listen to varying opinions on the mistakes at the frontline. The locals dismiss Paul s opinion, deeming him unknowledgeable. Their departing statement shows little to no respect to a soldier fighting their war, saying I hope we will soon hear something worth while from you (Remarque 168). A statement that is dismissive and insulting, and one that is echoed throughout the town. Armchair generals often think they have all the answers during a war, when in fact they have no experience in the war. They are often insulting and offensive, as seen in Paul s experience. These members of society are often blinded by their own opinions, not taking into consideration the mental strength it takes to fight for one s country. Paul does not find a home when he goes on leave. He finds a foreign place that was once home. He is constantly reminded by the horrors of war, while he leasts expects it, both physically and mentally. This struggle is met by the unintentional disrespect shown by some of the locals. All this adds up to a mental struggle a soldiers should not have to deal with during a time of leave, and one that will come back to him during his return to the frontline. The events of Paul s homecoming had a lasting effect on his emotional stability during the war. Before his leave, he shows little to no sign of emotional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with. Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low. (Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deviant behaviour is contextual in nature in that cultural differences make it very problematic to define deviance. One may ask this question on deviance, are humans genetically predisposed at birth with the characteristics that make them act deviantly, or do the people around them influence them to act this way. This writer seeks to expound on the fact that deviance is not only criminal and will also highlight the causes and circumstances where individuals end up exhibiting deviant behaviour. The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by stipulating that men are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to their man. This is explained in the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26. In this verse, women are supposed to be submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the heads. The interpretation is that the man has overall say over his wife or to some extent even sisters. This status usually ends up with the man being abusive and inequity also takes place. In reaction and to some extent retaliation, the women become deviant. They may stop respecting the man, they may start behaving in a wild manner, dress the opposite and many other contrary actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule. In the social set up, this deviance will not be criminal but results in some labelling. The radical feminists argue that patriarchy promotes deviance. In this writer s society, women serve men in all aspects be it household chores and sexual conjugal rights because of the norms of the area which are highly patriarchal. The resultant effect is that man are in most cases abusive to the extent that they batter their wives if they find no cooked food at home or if their clothes are not washed and ironed properly. • 36. First And Fourth Crusades Comparison Essay Many have priorly stated that history repeats itself time and time again. This can be seen throughout history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels between the First and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade and how it compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusade was launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting army swept through Asia Minor and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way. Upon the successful conquering of the region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves forming four crusader states: County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs in the fourth crusade. Upon conquering Constantinople in April of 1204, the crusaders proceed to divide the land among themselves much like they did earlier. They divided the land ... Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that without Constantinople, the way to Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy Land would fail. This call to crusade is similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem. However, here these parallels end. Kennedy in June 1963, when there were signs of lessening tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere, or in irradiated outer space. Also, the United States placed their missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles into the United States.
