The Pros And Cons Of Belgian Federalism
Dr. Wilfried Swenden, a professor at Edinborough University in his research paper called Belgian
Federalism: Basic Institutional Features and Potential as a Model for the European Union , argues
that there are positive as well as negative aspects as Belgium as a federal state. The good things
about it is that it managed to lower the amount of tension between the different language speaking
groups. He supports it by stating that the amount of demonstrations has gone down since
federalization of the country and that that can be linked to the success of the government. One of
the critiques that is often raised that it is very costly. Certainly, the process itself costs money,
however, it could lower the expenses by stopping some of the costly proto federal practices aimed
at concealing disputes between the two Communitiesin a unitary context (Swenden, 2003). He also
argues that the state of public finance is better nowadays than in was before the reforms. One of his
strongest arguments is that people have actually started identifying more with Belgiumthan before
when they allowed to identify with their region too. Swenden calls it the Moreno question the share
of citizens who have been willing to shift their identity to the Belgian end of the continuum has
increased, rather than decreased over time (Swenden, 2003).
However, there are some disadvantages. Like that Belgium while having three regions and
communities is actually bipolar in character. The German speaking

Crystal Violet Kinetics
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was studying the reaction rate of crystal violet with NaOH by
observing the concentration using the MicroLAB colorimeter, monitoring how the reactant
concentration affects reaction rate constant, determining the reaction order, and to calculate the
reaction pseudo rate constants and the true value rate constant. The rate of the reaction of crystal
violet with NaOH is given by the generalized rate law, rate = k [OH ]x [CV]y where k is the rate
constant for crystal violet and CV is crystal violet, C25H30N3+. Where x and y are the reaction
orders. The equation can be rewritten as:
Eq.1 k = k[OH ]x
Since solutions of crystal violet obey Beer s law, absorptivity can be calculated using the following
equation:
Eq.2 At = Оµ l[CV]t
Where A is the initial absorbance when the experiment first starts, l is the path length of the cuvette
(2.54 cm), and [CV]t is the initial concentration of crystal violet.
Procedure:
Determination of Reaction Order in Crystal Violet
MicroLAB Kinetics program was opened, then the colorimeter was calibrated to a 100%
transmission by filling a marked, clean, clear cuvette, about Вѕ full of deionized water. The cuvette
was wiped with a Kimwipe from the outside before putting it in the colorimeter. The cuvette was
inserted in the chamber, then the cap was closed, and the Read Blank button was clicked to start the
calibration.

Gender, Sex, and the Challenge of Feminism
Gender, sex, and the challenge of feminism
As with considerations of race, feminism raises issues for political philosophy not only deserve
several book length treatments (rather than the chapter section it will get here), but also arguably
should infuse all aspects of political thought. Feminists have plausibly claimed that considerations
of gender and gender related inequalities play a role in the most basic dynamics of social life in the
structure of families, defining identities and opportunities for self fulfillment, in creating roles and
expectations regarding intimate relations, and the like so that attention to such inequalities is
central to the examination of social life and political institutions. What follows, then, is a very
selective discussion of some of the ways that feminism raises fundamental issues which force a
basic alteration and reconstruction (and some would argue wholesale rejection) of mainstream
liberal political theories.
There are many kinds of feminisms and the differences among them are as philosophically
interesting as are their similarities. In the present discussion, feminism refers generally to a
perspective on society, on social relations, and on oneself; it is a perspective that puts the
viewpoint and needs of women, and in particular the inequalities and injustices that have involved
and do still involve women in society, at center stage. More than a set of shared beliefs or
principles, feminism is an orientation characterized by

Representing Broadband Application Provider s view on FCC rules for preserving the open internet
Executive Summary
This policy brief puts forward the point of view of the Broadband application provider regarding
the open internet rules proposed by the FCC. The broadband application providers support the open
internet rules, which states that the internet should be transparent and the access to it should be
blocking and free from unreasonable discrimination. This rules will allow broadband application
providers to provide their content to all the users without unnecessary blocking by the ISPs. This
policy brief first describes the FCC s idea of the open internet. Secondly, it describes the problems

On the open internet, people can communicate freely with others, transmit and receive information
of their choice, and develop and use applications of their own choice. This is sometimes, also
referred to as Net Neutrality or Network Neutrality .
b) FCC s idea of open internet.
On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4].
This Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line
providers and wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband
providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from
carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content.
This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules
1. Transparency:
FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate
information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and
conditions of their broadband services. The disclosure should contain all the information necessary
for the consumers to make suitable choices for buying content, service and application [5].
However, the service provider does not need to disclose any security information or competitively
sensitive information [5].
2. Blocking:
FCC suggests that fixed broadband providers should not block consumer from accessing any lawful
content, services, applications or non harmful devices. It also suggests

Develop a well thought contingency plan
Companies almost always go through difficult times. And although those difficult times may appear
out of nowhere, most of the time, the warning signs are always there.
Therefore, it is imperative to learn to recognize the signs of problems.
By identifying potential problems before they arise, you can try to prevent them from occurring
completely.
Learn from your mistakes and build on your successes
Of course, just as you are likely to experience success in the things you do, it is also likely that you
will also make mistakes.
And when it comes to business, you will have the opportunity to improve in both scenarios.
Ask yourself what did you do wrong or what did you do well, why it worked or not, and what can
be done differently.
These questions will help you make educated and intelligent business decisions that will help your
business prosper.
Focus on your customers
Always be courteous, professional and provide a quality service or product, since it is much easier
to sell to a satisfied customer than to try to bribe a new potential customer.
This will leave your customers excited and will be willing to return.

Education, Education And The Value Of Education
It is clear that colleges are starting to fall behind on teaching the basic principles that should come
with an education. It is shocking that my underlying fear of society not being taught enough to
survive in the real world is indeed true. With public education being degraded to only useless
common core principles, it is almost like society is purposely being dumbed down for the benefit
of the elite. These essays did, in fact, educate me on the valuable importance of the humanities
along with STEM educationas both are beneficial when joined together. I have learned that the
humanities are actually the key to creating a well informed, educated person with the ability to
think for themselves. I have always had questions regarding the structure of education and its
higher cost when I was younger, moreover, I will say that these six essays have answered the
questions I have always pondered. These essays were beneficial in convincing me of the value of an
education by answering my long awaited question about education, convincing me of why the
humanities are important alongside STEM based learning, and that our society is on the path to a
downfall if these problems involving the lack of the humanities are not solved soon. When I first
read these essays, I was regarding them with the mindset of another assignment I would be
compelled to complete as I was not taking them as seriously when I tried reading them with the
mindset of just trying to complete an assignment. However,

How Did Kotoku Change
Kotoku was born in 1871 in rural Tosa and matured in the hectic reform years of the Meiji
period. During his maturity, Japan was undergoing changes that lead to impending dangers. The
years of the Meiji Restoration in 1868 changed from feudal system of the Edo period to a
compulsory system of equal education and enlistment to the army. Japan underwent intense
reforms that changed its social, political, and economic aspects. The reforms shook the
foundations of the dying regime and gave birth to a new society. The social Caste system was
toppled, and the day to day lives of the Japanese changed with a revolution. This achievement
was shortly thereafter betrayed by the ruling party. The ruling elite s imperialistic pursuit was
viewed as a betrayal to the Meiji Restoration. The revolution promised a fair society in
submission of universal ideals. While in Tosa, Kotoku was educated in the new educational
system and its new political ideals, which had opened up due to radical Meiji reforms. He was
known as a socialist and anarchist because of his distaste towards the political leaders as he felt
betrayed by the promise of the Meiji restoration. The revolution became a restoration of the past and

Comparing Odysseus And God In Homer s The Odyssey
In Homer s The Odyssey, Odysseus tests his servants, family, and the suitors, and in the Book of
Genesis God tests Abraham. Odysseus returns home alone and unrecognized to find his home in
disarray, unsure of who and who cannot be trusted. In the Book of Genesis, Abraham is tested to
assure he is loyal to, and trusts, the Lord. Odysseustests the loyalty of his servants and family
members, as well as the suitors, likewise, Abraham s faith is assessed by God as he commands
Abraham to sacrifice his son. The similarities between Odysseus and God, and their assessment of
others, draw further on the concept of crossing the boundary between humans and the divine; both
Odysseus and God use testing as a form of bringing justice to a world that lives without a justice
system.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

man. It is in this disguise as a beggar that Odysseus is is able to go about testing the people of

Q2. How did they change the marketing mix to fit their new target market?
п‚ў They
targeted those people who would recognize and appreciate quality lodging and not those who were
seeking cheap sleep . п‚ў Inviting potential guests or individuals who might influence visitor hotel
selection to launch parties, swim parties, cocktail parties and other planned events. п‚ў Targeting
supportive hospitality businesses. п‚ў Packages that supported local businesses were developed.
Q3. Would you retain the Quality Inn flag? Explain your decision.
п‚ў Yes,
they should retain the Quality Inn flag as they have worked hard to remodel and reposition a
declining hotel and earned appreciation from the townspeople and also it helped the town and the

had paid off. п‚ў There is a value in the flag and if they don t retain the flag then anyone else

He enters the cafГ© and waits in line, admiring the way one of the workers does her job. Her
name was Elizabeth. She would see Dominic almost every morning, asking for his usual order:

started to prepare his tea. She has long brown hair tied in a ponytail, black eyes, and a pretty rose
coloured face. For a while now, Elizabeth would put aside Dominic s cookies, as she was sure as
the sun shines, that he would be asking for them, and felt that it is wrong to sell them to a different
customer. Dominic opened his bookstore and gazed upon the thousands of books placed on shelves,

Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn?
Project Design Plan.
This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the storage temperatures
of the kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for 24 hours yield more or less popped
kernels than popcorn kernels stored at room temperature? By performing this experiment we can
decide how to maximize our food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from
the local food store that have the same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of
the bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a standard household freezer for twenty four hours. The

Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you chose from your
time testing trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on most microwaves. It is
important to test the time with one frozen and one shelf stored popcorn package. This will allow
us to record the exact time needed to perform our test on the remaining bags of popcorn.
7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one bag of room
temperature popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial separately.
8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the average of each
trial and compare the final results.
Reasoning of this design.
The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of popcorn claims
to have the highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method of experiment because we
can control the variables of the experiment. By controlling the temperature we can determine
which method will yield the most amount of popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to
have the most yield of popcorn or studies on brands. This experiment can be used on all brands as
long as the brand name stays the same.

Both women in the stories suffer from an illness, both physical and mental, an extent in both
stories. Though there is emotional detachment, there is still some form of love, though it may have
lead
to spousal abuse. Though their husbands were taking action for their illnesses it seems that the
husbands only thought of their wives by their illnesses, not as a person having one. This caused a

The techniques include, appeal to authority, and bandwagon. In the opening paragraph, Seitz
appeals to authority. The line, In November 2013, I was privileged to lead a United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops delegation traveling to Southern Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala
and Honduras to examine and understand the flight of unaccompanied migrating children and
youth... (p. 189) was used to build up his credibility since he has experience. Sietz also appeals
to sympathy on different occasions. The first instance is when he states, Mr. Chairman I would
like to share the stories of three children one from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to give
the committee a sense of the reality of the violence they are fleeing: (p. 190). The simple thought
of hearing these children s stories evokes emotions of sympathy. Another instance is his
conclusion when he states, I ask you to consider the individual stories of these vulnerable child
migrants and open your minds and hearts to their plight while seeking meaningful and long term
regional solutions. I ask you to respond to the needs of these children not to turn them away or
ostracize them as Americans are a compassionate people (pg. 193). The words vulnerable and
plight as well as the line open your minds and heart evoke sympathy. Lastly, the line, As Americans
are a compassionate people (p. 193) is borderline bandwagon because it could insinuate that if you
disagree then you are not compassionate or American.
After reading both sides of the arguments I found Dan Coats argument most biased because it

Mechanical Bowel Preparation Research
Mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) became the standard of care for elective colorectal surgery
once its association with decreased anastomotic dehiscence, surgical site infections (SSI)1, and
overall reduced morbidity and mortality emerged2. Originally, the guidelines and recommendations
for MBP were based on expert opinion and theory rather than randomized controlled trials (RCTs).3
When researchers began testing the theory in large randomized controlled studies, the results
challenged the benefits of MBP. A substantial amount of literature found the practice to either found
no effects, or found negative post operative effects.3 5 Although current research has casted doubt

The Music Of New Orleans Jazz
Music is a form of art that is expressed through the creation of sound based on several cultures
throughout the world. New Orleans Jazz is a genre of music originating in the 19th century that
allowed people, especially of African American decent, to feel to express their love and excitement
for the jubilant music. Jazzis a unique style of music that is often performed by brass band
musicians using simple instruments to create a distinctive musical sound. Two distinguished
musicians, Louis Armstrongand Dizzy Gillespie, rose to fame with their musical talents in the jazz
community around the world. These two musicians born below the Mason Dixon line would
acquire their popularity by performing nationwide, but their childhood, musical careers, and
legacies would be totally different. Daniel Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans, Louisiana
in the early 20th century. Being born into poverty, his upbringing was extremely rough, and not
having parental guidance contributed to his troubled childhood. Armstrong s father abandoned his
mother and sister at an early age, and his mother eventually left Armstrong in the care of his
grandmother. Being unsupervised, Louis often roomed the streets and stayed in trouble with the
law. His troubles landed him in a facility similar to a boarding school near Storyville, where they
helped steer troubled teens down the right path to success. School was be the place where
Armstrong fell in love with music. The streets of New Orleans were a

The Boxer Primer
With the progress of the metallic cartridge case and the advancement of smokeless powder, a
reliable ignition method was needed. When loading ammunition, the ignition method utilized is
the primer. Today s primers are basically a tiny cup of an explosive that ignites the powder
charge. Dating back to 1805 and developed by Reverend Forsyth, this detonating powder was a
mixture of fulminate of mercury and potassium chlorate. Not only does the invention of the
primer offer convenience its more reliable. Even with the Flintlock ignition system dominating
firearms and obscurity over percussion cap claims, Joshua Shaw is given credit for creating the
percussion cap in 1814. This percussion cap primer used an explosive mixture of fulminate of
mercury, chlorate of potash, and ground glass in a small cup. This priming cup was positioned
beneath the hammer and would explode releasing gas into the flash hole of the nipple when
released. The charge would ignite the powder charge propelling the projectile out of the muzzle.
In today s modern cartridges, the basic components are very similar, but with upgrades.
Everything is self contained and easier to place into a cartridge case. The nipple location has
changed, and is located inside the case for a Berdan or in the form of an anvil in the Boxer primer.

fulminate of mercury damaging the cases chemically and stopping the cases from being reloaded

Prediction Energy Essay
Insight #2: Prediction architecture is energy efficient when sensing low spatial frequency images.
The power consumption in this prediction architecture can be divided into three parts: the switched
capacitor array, the comparator, and the digital circuits. Power analysis of the switched capacitor
array is based on the charging and discharging energy during A/D conversions. At the beginning of
the conversion, the capacitors are reset to GND. In the first bit conversion, the bottom plate of the
capacitor is switched to VREF , and VDAC is charged to 1/2 VREF . This switching energy is
8CVREF 2. At this moment, if VIN VDAC, then the current capacitor is kept to VREF and next
capacitor is switched to VREF, so VDAC is charged to 3/4 VREF. In... Show more content on

Prediction Architecture with Event Based Sensing The preliminary results demonstrated the
feasibility of the Prediction Architecture image sensors. We propose to further explore the
prediction architecture in audio and other sensors such like temperature, pressure, or radar sensors
by combining the prediction circuits with event based processing circuits.
Prediction architecture sensors for time domain signal sensors In the published preliminary results,
we have successfully demonstrated the prediction architecture in 2 D image sensors. We are
planning to study the prediction circuit structure for other time domain signals such as audio,
temperature, pressure, and radar signals using event based methods. Thus, when the input signal is
silent, the sensor will predict that the next sampling is still silent, while the input signal starts
launching a spike, the prediction circuit should predict the next sampling by extrapolating the
slope, by doing so the analog to digital comparing power can be greatly saved since if the input
signal is sparse, most of the prediction will be correct. The

Comparing Plath s The Bell Jar And Its Affiliates
The Bell Jar and Its Affiliates
Frequently, a writer will express the same symbols and themes in a variety of their works. This
is the case with Sylvia Plath, who not only wrote a multitude of poems, but also wrote the
renowned novel, The Bell Jar. Three of Plath s poems that share similar elements to her novel are
Lorelei , Daddy , and The Applicant . These ideas include death beckoning the characters, an
unstable family unit, and sexism towards women. The poems Lorelei , Daddy , and The Applicant
can be compared to Plath s novel The Bell Jar, by examining the key themes and characteristics of
the works. The first of Plath s poems that is comparable to The Bell Jar is Lorelei . In both of the
works, death beckons to the characters. In Lorelei , siren like creatures beckon for the speaker to
drown herself. The speaker notes how their ice hearted calling (Lorelei 31) is compelling her to
commit suicide. This can be compared to the ocean waves in The Bell Jar, which [draw] back, like

detests these ideals, refusing to learn a new way of writing as [she] hate[s] the idea of serving
men in any way (Bell Jar 76). Esther also goes so far as to proclaim that she does not want to get
married. She states that the last thing she want[s is] infinite security and to be the place an arrow
shoots off from. [She wants] change and excitement and to shoot off in all directions [herself],

Golden Age Of Equality
As the bullet pierced Harrison s heart, the audience froze while thinking if their society was truly
equal. The movie 2081 gives us a fresh new meaning of equality. The society forces people s
talents to be equal, so no one would have an advantage. This includes their strength, intelligence,
and beauty. The society would call it the Golden Age of Equality however Harrison would disagree
with that statement. 2081 and the real society can be very different on how they treat the
extraordinary and their meaning for handicap, while at the same time they can both be similar like
how they both have punishments and there s a type of policeforce to keep citizens safe.

A very unusual and new concept that 2081 uses is that they try conceal people s intelligence,
strength, and beauty while while the real world wants you to improve or express those qualities.
In the beginning of 2081, its states, The strong wore weights to make them weaker; the
intelligent wore earpieces that kept them from taking unfair advantage of their brains, Even the
beautiful, sometimes wore masks in situations where their beauty might simply be too
distracting. This explains how the society in 2081 brings down the intelligent, the strong, and
the beautiful, preventing them to reveal any of those qualities. However, the real world rewards
all of the things that the government in 2081 tries to hide. For example, in a high school
graduation the school would give recognition to the valedictorian, which encourages students to
do better in academics. While in 2081, they would not honor or give recognition the intelligent,
instead they would try to make them more unwise, so no one would see the person s real
capabilities. The real society would never attempt to make a student more unwise like how the
society in 2081 would. Our school system encourages for improvement on test scores or grades,
and not disprovement. In 2081, the society has a different perspective of a handicapped person
from the real world. The real world views a handicap person as someone with a disadvantage
while in 2081 they view it as someone who has an advantage. In 2081, Harrison was considered,
handicap even though he was a genius and strong. However, this is different to the real society
because a handicap person today, would be someone with a physical or mental problem such as
someone who can barely walk. This shows, that a handicapped person from 2081 would have the
exact opposite skills as a handicap person in the real society. The society of 2081 would label a

According to www.ghc.org/, five most common childhood illnesses are: Chickenpox; Colds;
Coughs, Croup, and Diarrhea. Let s look at the symptoms of these illnesses as well as at their
treatment.
1.Chickenpox: Chickenpox is an infection caused by varicella zoster virus. Signs and symptoms of
chickenpox may include:
Slight fever may be present before a rash develops. Rash usually first appears on body, face, and
scalp. It then spreads to limbs. Rash begins as small, red, flat spots that develop into itchy fluid
filled blisters. Blisters are usually less than Вј wide and have a red base. After the blister breaks,
open sores will crust over to form dry, brown scabs. (BCCDC, 2009)

followed by injuries due to being struck by or against an object. Other most common types of
injuries are overexertion, transportation related injuries, and various cuts (CDC 2008).
Treatment of Childhood Injuries
1.Falls: during falls children might break bones or injure joints and muscles.
If you suspect a fracture, follow these steps (1) Have the child rest. Immobilize the area. (2) Call 9

Translation Of Evidence And Practice
Translation of Evidence to Practice Does the compliance with a sedation protocol improve after
nurses receive a sedation competency over a three month period? The available data supported the
hypothesis that nursing education and competency can lead to consistent best practices and
positive outcomes for patients. The answers to this research question can help develop interventions
that support best practices for patients who are mechanically ventilated and receiving intravenous
sedation. The literature supported a positive impact on patient outcomes when sedation awakening
trials (SAT) and spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) were coordinated (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien
Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The literature also supported the compliance of
the coordination was more predictable when the nursing division was provided with protocol
education (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The
summation of findings indicates that when education was integrated with the research methods, the
outcomes related to nursing compliance were consistent and led to the completion of best practices.
Nursing education was a controlled variable in research that found a positive correlation with SAT
and SBT and outcomes for patients. Additionally, research without this controlled variable found
inconsistencies with the performance of SAT/SBT and related outcomes. As a result, the particular

Innovative Entrepreneurship Importance
Entrepreneurship is an essential part of economic development, and it has been so especially since
the industrial revolution. Development is achieved for example through innovation, which the
Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD, 2005) defines as the
implementation of a new or significantly improved product (good or service), or process, a new
marketing method or a new organisational method in business practices, workplace organisation or
external relations . Innovative performance is an essential part when determining competitiveness
and progress on a societal level. The following chapters will focus solely on innovative and
opportunity entrepreneurs, as necessity entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs that imitate others
contribute little to none towards economic development. Entrepreneurships often quoted definition
is that it is about the discovery and exploitation of opportunities (Shane Venkataraman 2001). Why
is innovative entrepreneurship important? Innovative entrepreneurship plays an important role in
today s society across different countries and institutional contexts and by contributing to economic
development, it is a catalyst for institutional development and structural change, and it helps
addressing challenges that policy makers are trying to overcome. Such challenges include economic
growth, climate change, sustainable development, maintaining biodiversity, socioeconomic issues,
job creation and poverty. The level and type of impact

The Ideal Business Model Of A Company
Part в…Ў emphasizes opportunity and the importance of it. The author uses a whole sector to talk
about opportunity, so we can understand how crucial opportunity is to a company. For a CEO as
me, I need to understand how to not only seek opportunities but also seize them.
Ideal business is a dream for a company. It is the best business model in the most ideal
environment for a company, and the most optimal results for the company from that business
model. A company can set a direction based on the ideal business, and adjust the route to the ideal
result. However, the ideal business is just a model, and the company cannot regard it as a plan.
In order to set an ideal business, the first thing a CEO needs to know is the dream of the
company: what is the goal for our company in a period of time? The goal should be realistic and
have some difficulties to achieve, because if it is too easy to reach, the employees will not try
their best, and the company cannot develop. To set the goal, the CEO needs to discuss with the
directors of each department and ask about their advice. They do not need to provide a complete
plan. Instead, they need to tell the CEO what are their ideal markets and results for their
departments. After summarizing their ideal models, he needs to create the ideal business for the
company and discuss it with the shareholders. Sometimes, the shareholders can be unrealistic, so
the CEO needs to convince them that their ideal business should be realistic and

What is a river basin? A river basin is an area of land that water flows across or under to make it s
way to a river. Just like a bathtub, it catches all the water that falls within its sides, and its sends

Confucianism
What is the ideal person supposed to be or do? In any religious system, this is always the
paramount question. Confucianism itself is not a religion, per se, but a set of first principles of
social organization and behavior, so there are no larger otherworldly implications to the Confucian
plan for humanity. For Confucius, life consists of ethical principles: the central problem with
humanity is anything which exacerbates humantendencies towards social disharmony. The
Confucian system is one in which social order is paramount: Douglas Soccio defines Confucius
not as a religious figure or philosopher per se, but as the social sage (Soccio 33). Confucius offers
no prescriptions about deities or the afterlife, but instead gives rules of conduct in essence a manual
of etiquette, which manages to raise etiquette to the level of a Kantian moralimperative which
results in the larger set of ethical precepts that comprise the teachings of Confucius. For Confucius,
the goal for every human being is to live in greatest harmony within society, which means adhering
to specifically defined social roles. In some sense, Confucianism is not a religionbut it places its
most reverent attitudes towards the idea of education Confucius himself is presented as no more
than a teacher (of right behavior, of rules of conduct, more than a teacher of moral inquiry) and
good education is central to the Confucian concept of good behavior and for its fairly
circumscribed sense of any the larger

Class Conflict In The Outsiders
Have you ever had a simple feud between peers, or even close friends? Imagine if you had a
fight over social classes, would it be worse? S.E. Hinton, the author of the 1967 novel, The
Outsiders, uses unique characters, symbols, and hectic events to prove that class conflict is
pointless, unwarranted, and destructive. In the novel, fictional characters are brought to life by
the author, as she connects and compares their taxing lifestyle to that of the reader. Using 14
year old boy, Ponyboy Curtis who is a greaser who has it fairly bad, living with only his brothers
after his parents dies in a tragic car accident, Hinton shows that it s tough all over, no matter your
social status. Ponyboy can only rely on Sodapop and Darry, and the rest of the gang. The author
displays class conflict throughout the book, by using the socs, or ,the rich kids with mustangs
and madras, showing that this dispute, between the greasers and socs, does not make life any
easier. The Outsiders uncovers that blood, may not be thicker than water, after all. Hinton
created unique characters to display her overall theme of the book. Ponyboy Curtis is the
protagonist in The Outsiders. Hinton shows Pony as a young greaser who doesn t use his head
much, unless it is for books or movies. Although not much has happened in his life as a greaser,
a lot has happened to his fellow greasers. For example, Johnny Cade; the boy who had a horrible

Hyperthyroidism Occurs When The Thyroid Gland
Hyperthyroid Disease Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland, a butterfly shape in front of
the neck, overproduces thyroid hormone. The thyroid gland is abundant with blood vessels and it
secretes thyroid hormone (Kumar 22). Thyroid hormone influences many different internal body
functions such as, metabolism, growth, development, turning food into energy, and increases body
temperature. Thyroidhormone is very important for brain development and normal growth during
infancy; furthermore, a newborn s blood drawn from their heel and sent for screening determines of
level of thyroid stimulating hormone (Samuels 2). However, when the thyroid gland over produces
thyroid hormonea lot of things in the body development can go wrong. The over produced thyroid
hormone forces the body to expedite. It is important to know that one has hyperthyroidism, because
it can result in heart, bone problems, and thyroid storm; which heart rate, blood pressure, and the
increase in body temperature can be fatal. Hyperthyroidism is more common in females than males
and the older a person is the more likely they will have it. Around 27 millions of American have
thyroid disease, however only 14 million receive treatment. Also, stress is the main aspect that
affects the thyroid gland in either over producing or under producing thyroid hormone (Kumar 22).

Subject Matter Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction is a term that defines whether a court has the power or authority to hear and/or decide
a particular case (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.61). Jurisdiction is important because it puts
limits on the power of a court to hear certain cases. Courts cannot possibly hear every case that is
brought before them; therefore, they must use the proper jurisdictionin order to prevent confusing
and conflicting results. There are two categories of jurisdiction: subject matter jurisdiction and
personam jurisdiction. Subject matter jurisdiction gives reference to the authority of a court to
hear a particular type of case whereas, personam jurisdiction gives reference to the courts authority
over an individual or corporation (Schaffer, Agusti, Dhooge, 2015, p.62). Federal courts hear cases
from any state as well as some cases where there is one party outside of the United States; however,
they are only allowed to hear cases where federal jurisdiction can be established. This basically
means that the court must have subject matter jurisdiction of the suit as well as personal jurisdiction
over the involved parties (personam jurisdiction). General jurisdiction may be present when a court

Short Essay On Sophocles
The Ancient Greeks were fans of plays and feats of prowess while simultaneously proving
themselves better than everyone else. Sophocles is regarded as one of the most decorated Greek

accomplishments as well, not to mention his esteemed writing career ( Ancient Greece Sophocles;

his death in 405 BCE, who influenced every playwright to follow. Sophocles was born in 496
BCE in Hippeios Colonus, a town near Athens, Greece. He was raised by his father, Sophilus, who

No More Boomerang By Oodgeroo Noonuccal
The poem No More Boomerang, written by Oodgeroo Noonuccal (Kath Walker) provides many
examples of contrast, showing how things of the old have been replaced by the new, and rhyme,
shown between the stanzas allowing for the remembrance of the message more easily, to convey
its message. An examples of this is No more message stick, lubras and lads, Got television now,
mostly ads. This part of a stanza provides evidence that during the aboriginal times for
entertainment or pleasure they had message sticks, lubras and lads, whereas nowadays people have
television to use, mostly containing ads, for enjoyment. This is one examples that the poems
provides that illustrate for us how the times of the old is being replaced by the new. The rhymeis

Similarities Between Egypt And Ancient Civilizations
Throughout human history we have had government. Almost every civilization that humans have
founded over the years has had some form of government. They include dictatorships, republics,
oligarchies, and monarchies. Monarchies have been a common one through history. A monarchy
is a form of government in which a country is ruled by a figured such as king or emperor. Since it
was created many different forms of monarchy developed as different civilizations changed it to
meet their needs. They changed the roles the ruler played in the government to the way the ruler
was picked. Even though they changed much about it some civilizations used similar methods
when it came to their version of the monarchy. So while some places the monarchies looked very
different in other places they look very similar. This means that over the course of history from
ancient civilizations to modern forms of monarchies there have been similarities. Egypt was among
one of the large ancient civilizations in its time. It lasted around thirty centuries from its start to its
fall to Alexander the Great (History.com). Over this thirty century period the civilization saw many
different rulers and many different eras including the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, the
New Kingdom, and the Late period (Sayre 65 90). Over these many rulers or pharaohs as they
were called many different changes took place in Egypt. One thing did not change though and that
was that the pharaohs held the power over everyone in

Legalizing Marijuana. Marijuana, Also Called Herb, Weed,
Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana, also called herb, weed, herb, pot, grass, and a vast number of
other slang terms, is a greenish gray combination of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of
Cannabis sativa, the hemp plant. Some individuals smoke marijuana in hand rolled cigarettes
called joints; many use pipes, water pipes, or marijuana cigars called blunts (often made by
cutting open cigars and replacing some or all the tobacco with marijuana). Marijuana is frequently
mixed into foods (edibles) such as brownies, cookies, or candies, particularly when it is sold or
consumed for medicinal purposes. Stronger varieties of marijuana include Sinsemilla (from
specially tended female plants) and concentrated resins containing high doses... Show more content

According to government surveys, 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past
year, and more than 14 million do so on a regular basis, despite harsh laws against its use.
Marijuana is far less hazardous than tobacco or alcohol. Nearly 50,000 people die each year
from alcohol poisoning. Additionally, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to
smoking tobacco. By comparison, marijuana is non hazardous and cannot cause death by
overdose. The United States public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it. (NORML)
The legalization of marijuana is a liberty that people deserve to choose for themselves.
Legalization would also reduce crime, and give sick patients a new effective medicine. The most
important reason for marijuana to be legalized is because people deserve to be free, and have the
choice to smoke marijuana. As the members of what we call a free nation should have the right to
make decisions for ourselves. Marijuana is less hazardous than other drugs that are already legal,
like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana also takes part of some religions. Just as Christians drink wine
on certain occasions, religions such as some Buddhists, Hindus, and Rastafarians use marijuana in
their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These individuals have the right to exercise their religion,
and The First Amendment in our Constitution protects these rights. Smoking marijuana does not
cause harm to others; therefore,

History of Clothing
The History of Clothes
Egypt
Men
All men wore a wrap round skirt that was tied at the waist with a belt. Sometimes the material
was wrapped around the legs as well. The length of the skirt varied depending on the fashion of
the time in the time of the Old Kingdom they were short while in the Middle Kingdom they were
calf length. During the New Kingdom period it was fashionable to wear a pleated garment.
Rich Egyptian men were able to afford the best quality linen which was very fine and almost see
through. Rich Egyptian men also wore as much jewelry as they could afford and decorated their
clothes. They also wore headdresses for special occasions.

Women
Women also wore different kinds of clothes depending on who they were. All women wore at least
one tunic down to their ankles. Many women, if they could afford it, wore a linen under tunic and
a woolen over tunic, and often a wool cloak over that if they were going outside. On their legs
women sometimes wore woven tights or socks, but women never wore pants. Nuns wore tunics like
other women, but generally in black or white rather than colors. Noblewomen often wore fancy tall
hats, sometimes with streamers coming off them. They sometimes plucked the hair from their
foreheads to give themselves very high foreheads which people thought were beautiful.
17th Century
At the beginning of the 17th century men wore starched collars called ruffs. Women wore frames
made of wood or whalebone under their dresses. However the farthingale was soon discarded and
the ruff evolved into a large lace collar (for those who could afford it!).
Men
In the 17th century men wore knee length, trouser like garments called breeches. They also wore
stockings and boots. On the upper body men wore linen shirts. In the early 17th century they
wore a kind of jacket called a doublet with a cape on top. Men wore their hair long. They also wore
beards.
In the late 17th century a man s doublet became a waistcoat and men wore a frock coat over it.
With breeches it was rather like a three piece suit. Men were now clean shaven and they wore wigs.
Women

Marketing Concept Of Customer Generating Marketing
Customer generating marketing has become very popular nowadays given the explosion in digital
and social media. Engaging customers on a more personal interactive level is key to your bottom
line. The marketing concept suggests that company strategies should revolve around creating
customer value by engaging customers and building profitable relationships. In order for your
company to be successful, all members of the company must participate in marketing, not just the
marketing department. They must want to create value for the customer in order to engage them. It
is a team effort. That is why it is important to understand marketing and how you play a role or fit
in it.
A value delivery network is key to delivering customer value. Suppliers, distributors, employees, and
customers must work together closely to improve the performance of the entire system. Developing
differentiation in the market contributes in creating superior customer value in order to capture
value in return. Companies that understand their brand and communicate it well to their targeted
audience are going to achieve success. As consumers change, companies must change with them. If
they fail to adapt, it is a good chance they will be left behind. T Mobile is a good illustration of
creating differentiation and adapting to consumer changes in the market. Cellular customers have
become tired of being locked into two year agreements with their cellular providers. They wanted to
have the freedom of switching

Pros And Cons Of Nationalization And Regulation Of The...
Nationalization and Regulation of the American Healthcare System According to a study from
The American Journal of Medicine, more than 60% of bankruptcies in America are due to
medical bills. We are spending more and more each year on health care, much more than other
countries whose healthcare quality is on par with ours. These high costs are the result of our
flawed system that favors corporations over individuals and is in a dire need of reform. As tax
paying Americans, we should be willing to pay higher taxes in exchange for affordable healthcare,
as those living in an industrialized country should not have to worry about essential services such
as health care. This increase in taxes can be invested to construct an infrastructure for regulating the
costs of and standardizing medical services, as well as to fund medical research, among other
benefits for every person. The cost of hospitalization and prescription medication is exorbitant.
Healthcare insurance is not cheap either. Insurance companies insist that they provide members
with a broad range of benefits and conscientious service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article Insured, but Not Covered, Rosenthal points out that, despite being insured through
Empire Blue Cross, Karen Pineman had to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a physical
therapist when she broke her ankle while playing tennis, simply because her insurer refused to
cover it. There are many more cases such as Pineman s, where patients are forced to pay out of
pocket since their insurance policy does not cover their specific treatments. The expenses can
amount to thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars for treatments of more serious
illnesses such as cancer. This is a severe flaw in our current healthcare system, one that could
devastate individuals such as Pineman, sinking them deeply in debt and forcing them into

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Belgian Federalism Dr. Wilfried Swenden, a professor at Edinborough University in his research paper called Belgian Federalism: Basic Institutional Features and Potential as a Model for the European Union , argues that there are positive as well as negative aspects as Belgium as a federal state. The good things about it is that it managed to lower the amount of tension between the different language speaking groups. He supports it by stating that the amount of demonstrations has gone down since federalization of the country and that that can be linked to the success of the government. One of the critiques that is often raised that it is very costly. Certainly, the process itself costs money, however, it could lower the expenses by stopping some of the costly proto federal practices aimed at concealing disputes between the two Communitiesin a unitary context (Swenden, 2003). He also argues that the state of public finance is better nowadays than in was before the reforms. One of his strongest arguments is that people have actually started identifying more with Belgiumthan before when they allowed to identify with their region too. Swenden calls it the Moreno question the share of citizens who have been willing to shift their identity to the Belgian end of the continuum has increased, rather than decreased over time (Swenden, 2003). However, there are some disadvantages. Like that Belgium while having three regions and communities is actually bipolar in character. The German speaking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Investigating The Reaction Rate Of Crystal Violet orah Albaiz CHMY143 016 Katie Link Lab Partner: Lydia Aman Crystal Violet Kinetics Purpose: The purpose of this experiment was studying the reaction rate of crystal violet with NaOH by observing the concentration using the MicroLAB colorimeter, monitoring how the reactant concentration affects reaction rate constant, determining the reaction order, and to calculate the reaction pseudo rate constants and the true value rate constant. The rate of the reaction of crystal violet with NaOH is given by the generalized rate law, rate = k [OH ]x [CV]y where k is the rate constant for crystal violet and CV is crystal violet, C25H30N3+. Where x and y are the reaction orders. The equation can be rewritten as: Eq.1 k = k[OH ]x Since solutions of crystal violet obey Beer s law, absorptivity can be calculated using the following equation: Eq.2 At = Оµ l[CV]t Where A is the initial absorbance when the experiment first starts, l is the path length of the cuvette (2.54 cm), and [CV]t is the initial concentration of crystal violet. Procedure: Determination of Reaction Order in Crystal Violet MicroLAB Kinetics program was opened, then the colorimeter was calibrated to a 100% transmission by filling a marked, clean, clear cuvette, about Вѕ full of deionized water. The cuvette was wiped with a Kimwipe from the outside before putting it in the colorimeter. The cuvette was inserted in the chamber, then the cap was closed, and the Read Blank button was clicked to start the calibration. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender, Sex, and the Challenge of Feminism Gender, sex, and the challenge of feminism As with considerations of race, feminism raises issues for political philosophy not only deserve several book length treatments (rather than the chapter section it will get here), but also arguably should infuse all aspects of political thought. Feminists have plausibly claimed that considerations of gender and gender related inequalities play a role in the most basic dynamics of social life in the structure of families, defining identities and opportunities for self fulfillment, in creating roles and expectations regarding intimate relations, and the like so that attention to such inequalities is central to the examination of social life and political institutions. What follows, then, is a very selective discussion of some of the ways that feminism raises fundamental issues which force a basic alteration and reconstruction (and some would argue wholesale rejection) of mainstream liberal political theories. There are many kinds of feminisms and the differences among them are as philosophically interesting as are their similarities. In the present discussion, feminism refers generally to a perspective on society, on social relations, and on oneself; it is a perspective that puts the viewpoint and needs of women, and in particular the inequalities and injustices that have involved and do still involve women in society, at center stage. More than a set of shared beliefs or principles, feminism is an orientation characterized by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4]. This Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line providers and wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content. This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules 1. Transparency: FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and conditions of their broadband services. These essays did, in fact, educate me on the valuable importance of the humanities along with STEM educationas both are beneficial when joined together. During his maturity, Japan was undergoing changes that lead to impending dangers. The years of the Meiji Restoration in 1868 changed from feudal system of the Edo period to a compulsory system of equal education and enlistment to the army. Japan underwent intense reforms that changed its social, political, and economic aspects. The reforms shook the foundations of the dying regime and gave birth to a new society. Dan Coats believe that illegal children who immigrated unaccompanied should be deported due to the increasing numbers and how it promotes the dangerous journeys the children take to get to the United States. Coats believes the focus should be placed on the children s start of their journey and deterring them from coming. The focus should not be once they arrive at the border (p. 186). In contrast, Mark Seitz argues the children should not be deported and have the best interest of the child standard apply to them. The line, In November 2013, I was privileged to lead a United States Conference of Catholic Bishops delegation traveling to Southern Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to examine and understand the flight of unaccompanied migrating children and youth... (p. 189) was used to build up his credibility since he has experience. Sietz also appeals to sympathy on different occasions. The first instance is when he states, Mr. Chairman I would like to share the stories of three children one from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to give the committee a sense of the reality of the violence they are fleeing: (p. 190). The simple thought of hearing these children s stories evokes emotions of sympathy. Another instance is his conclusion when he states, I ask you to consider the individual stories of these vulnerable child migrants and open your minds and hearts to their plight while seeking meaningful and long term regional solutions. I ask you to respond to the needs of these children not to turn them away or ostracize them as Americans are a compassionate people (pg. 193). The words vulnerable and plight as well as the line open your minds and heart evoke sympathy. Lastly, the line, As Americans are a compassionate people (p. 193) is borderline bandwagon because it could insinuate that if you disagree then you are not compassionate or American. After reading both sides of the arguments I found Dan Coats argument most biased because it contained the most propaganda. In my opinion, the oversimplification of what he called the narrative was distracting and seemed informal to me. I understand the importance; however, it could have been presented differently. New Orleans Jazz is a genre of music originating in the 19th century that allowed people, especially of African American decent, to feel to express their love and excitement for the jubilant music. Jazzis a unique style of music that is often performed by brass band musicians using simple instruments to create a distinctive musical sound. Two distinguished musicians, Louis Armstrongand Dizzy Gillespie, rose to fame with their musical talents in the jazz community around the world. These two musicians born below the Mason Dixon line would acquire their popularity by performing nationwide, but their childhood, musical careers, and legacies would be totally different. Daniel Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in the early 20th century. Being born into poverty, his upbringing was extremely rough, and not having parental guidance contributed to his troubled childhood. Armstrong s father abandoned his mother and sister at an early age, and his mother eventually left Armstrong in the care of his grandmother. Being unsupervised, Louis often roomed the streets and stayed in trouble with the law. When loading ammunition, the ignition method utilized is the primer. Today s primers are basically a tiny cup of an explosive that ignites the powder charge. Dating back to 1805 and developed by Reverend Forsyth, this detonating powder was a mixture of fulminate of mercury and potassium chlorate. Not only does the invention of the primer offer convenience its more reliable. Even with the Flintlock ignition system dominating firearms and obscurity over percussion cap claims, Joshua Shaw is given credit for creating the percussion cap in 1814. This percussion cap primer used an explosive mixture of fulminate of mercury, chlorate of potash, and ground glass in a small cup. This priming cup was positioned beneath the hammer and would explode releasing gas into the flash hole of the nipple when released. The charge would ignite the powder charge propelling the projectile out of the muzzle. In today s modern cartridges, the basic components are very similar, but with upgrades. The power consumption in this prediction architecture can be divided into three parts: the switched capacitor array, the comparator, and the digital circuits. Power analysis of the switched capacitor array is based on the charging and discharging energy during A/D conversions. At the beginning of the conversion, the capacitors are reset to GND. In the first bit conversion, the bottom plate of the capacitor is switched to VREF , and VDAC is charged to 1/2 VREF . This switching energy is 8CVREF 2. At this moment, if VIN VDAC, then the current capacitor is kept to VREF and next capacitor is switched to VREF, so VDAC is charged to 3/4 VREF. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These ideas include death beckoning the characters, an unstable family unit, and sexism towards women. The poems Lorelei , Daddy , and The Applicant can be compared to Plath s novel The Bell Jar, by examining the key themes and characteristics of the works. The first of Plath s poems that is comparable to The Bell Jar is Lorelei . In both of the works, death beckons to the characters. This explains how the society in 2081 brings down the intelligent, the strong, and the beautiful, preventing them to reveal any of those qualities. However, the real world rewards all of the things that the government in 2081 tries to hide. For example, in a high school graduation the school would give recognition to the valedictorian, which encourages students to do better in academics. While in 2081, they would not honor or give recognition the intelligent, instead they would try to make them more unwise, so no one would see the person s real capabilities. The real society would never attempt to make a student more unwise like how the society in 2081 would. Our school system encourages for improvement on test scores or grades, and not disprovement. In 2081, the society has a different perspective of a handicapped person from the real world. The real world views a handicap person as someone with a disadvantage while in 2081 they view it as someone who has an advantage. Confucianism itself is not a religion, per se, but a set of first principles of social organization and behavior, so there are no larger otherworldly implications to the Confucian plan for humanity. For Confucius, life consists of ethical principles: the central problem with humanity is anything which exacerbates humantendencies towards social disharmony. The Confucian system is one in which social order is paramount: Douglas Soccio defines Confucius not as a religious figure or philosopher per se, but as the social sage (Soccio 33). Confucius offers no prescriptions about deities or the afterlife, but instead gives rules of conduct in essence a manual of etiquette, which manages to raise etiquette to the level of a Kantian moralimperative which results in the larger set of ethical precepts that comprise the teachings of Confucius. For Confucius, the goal for every human being is to live in greatest harmony within society, which means adhering to specifically defined social roles. In some sense, Confucianism is not a religionbut it places its most reverent attitudes towards the idea of education Confucius himself is presented as no more than a teacher (of right behavior, of rules of conduct, more than a teacher of moral inquiry) and good education is central to the Confucian concept of good behavior and for its fairly circumscribed sense of any the larger ... In the novel, fictional characters are brought to life by the author, as she connects and compares their taxing lifestyle to that of the reader. Using 14 year old boy, Ponyboy Curtis who is a greaser who has it fairly bad, living with only his brothers after his parents dies in a tragic car accident, Hinton shows that it s tough all over, no matter your social status. Confucius answered, In administering your government, what need is there for you to kill? Just desire the good yourself and the common people will be good. The virtue of the gentleman is like wind; the virtue of the small man is like grass. Let the wind blow over the grass and it is sure to bend. (XII, 19) I felt it best to express some of my opinions in writing to prevent my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can come up with a thousand solutions, but must remember that A country of a thousand war chariots cannot be administered unless the ruler attends strictly to business, punctually observes his promises. (I, 5) Flood control in the regions surrounding the Yellow River requires thousands of diligent workers. Emphasis on the word diligent . These commoners will veer from their assigned task and will be rebellious if their leaders are not morally straight. That, once again, starts at the root the Ruler of All Under Heaven. Our current examination system can certainly be revamped, but it currently encourages men to delve knee deep into the analects. That is especially important right now seeing as the people they look up to are not, in the words of Master Confucius, True gentleman . No examination is good enough to equip men to be morally sound if those guiding them are not in their own rite. If you remember nothing else from me, please remember this. The Master said, Virtue never stands alone. It is bound to have neighbors. (IV, 25) Please do not let my actions be in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. No More Boomerang By Oodgeroo Noonuccal The poem No More Boomerang, written by Oodgeroo Noonuccal (Kath Walker) provides many examples of contrast, showing how things of the old have been replaced by the new, and rhyme, shown between the stanzas allowing for the remembrance of the message more easily, to convey its message. An examples of this is No more message stick, lubras and lads, Got television now, mostly ads. This part of a stanza provides evidence that during the aboriginal times for entertainment or pleasure they had message sticks, lubras and lads, whereas nowadays people have television to use, mostly containing ads, for enjoyment. This is one examples that the poems provides that illustrate for us how the times of the old is being replaced by the new. The rhymeis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Similarities Between Egypt And Ancient Civilizations Throughout human history we have had government. Almost every civilization that humans have founded over the years has had some form of government. They include dictatorships, republics, oligarchies, and monarchies. Monarchies have been a common one through history. A monarchy is a form of government in which a country is ruled by a figured such as king or emperor. Since it was created many different forms of monarchy developed as different civilizations changed it to meet their needs. They changed the roles the ruler played in the government to the way the ruler was picked. Even though they changed much about it some civilizations used similar methods when it came to their version of the monarchy. So while some places the monarchies looked very different in other places they look very similar. This means that over the course of history from ancient civilizations to modern forms of monarchies there have been similarities. Egypt was among one of the large ancient civilizations in its time. It lasted around thirty centuries from its start to its fall to Alexander the Great (History.com). Over this thirty century period the civilization saw many different rulers and many different eras including the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, the New Kingdom, and the Late period (Sayre 65 90). Over these many rulers or pharaohs as they were called many different changes took place in Egypt. One thing did not change though and that was that the pharaohs held the power over everyone in ... • 46. Legalizing Marijuana. Marijuana, Also Called Herb, Weed, Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana, also called herb, weed, herb, pot, grass, and a vast number of other slang terms, is a greenish gray combination of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of Cannabis sativa, the hemp plant. Some individuals smoke marijuana in hand rolled cigarettes called joints; many use pipes, water pipes, or marijuana cigars called blunts (often made by cutting open cigars and replacing some or all the tobacco with marijuana). Marijuana is frequently mixed into foods (edibles) such as brownies, cookies, or candies, particularly when it is sold or consumed for medicinal purposes. Stronger varieties of marijuana include Sinsemilla (from specially tended female plants) and concentrated resins containing high doses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to government surveys, 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so on a regular basis, despite harsh laws against its use. Marijuana is far less hazardous than tobacco or alcohol. Nearly 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Additionally, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to smoking tobacco. By comparison, marijuana is non hazardous and cannot cause death by overdose. The United States public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it. (NORML) The legalization of marijuana is a liberty that people deserve to choose for themselves. Legalization would also reduce crime, and give sick patients a new effective medicine. The most important reason for marijuana to be legalized is because people deserve to be free, and have the choice to smoke marijuana. As the members of what we call a free nation should have the right to make decisions for ourselves. Marijuana is less hazardous than other drugs that are already legal, like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana also takes part of some religions. Just as Christians drink wine on certain occasions, religions such as some Buddhists, Hindus, and Rastafarians use marijuana in their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These individuals have the right to exercise their religion, and The First Amendment in our Constitution protects these rights. Smoking marijuana does not cause harm to others; therefore, ... Women Women also wore different kinds of clothes depending on who they were. All women wore at least one tunic down to their ankles. Many women, if they could afford it, wore a linen under tunic and a woolen over tunic, and often a wool cloak over that if they were going outside. On their legs women sometimes wore woven tights or socks, but women never wore pants. Nuns wore tunics like other women, but generally in black or white rather than colors. Noblewomen often wore fancy tall hats, sometimes with streamers coming off them. They sometimes plucked the hair from their foreheads to give themselves very high foreheads which people thought were beautiful. 17th Century At the beginning of the 17th century men wore starched collars called ruffs. Women wore frames made of wood or whalebone under their dresses. However the farthingale was soon discarded and the ruff evolved into a large lace collar (for those who could afford it!). Men In the 17th century men wore knee length, trouser like garments called breeches. They also wore stockings and boots. On the upper body men wore linen shirts. In the early 17th century they wore a kind of jacket called a doublet with a cape on top. Men wore their hair long. They also wore beards. In the late 17th century a man s doublet became a waistcoat and men wore a frock coat over it. With breeches it was rather like a three piece suit. Men were now clean shaven and they wore wigs. • 48. Marketing Concept Of Customer Generating Marketing Customer generating marketing has become very popular nowadays given the explosion in digital and social media. Engaging customers on a more personal interactive level is key to your bottom line. The marketing concept suggests that company strategies should revolve around creating customer value by engaging customers and building profitable relationships. In order for your company to be successful, all members of the company must participate in marketing, not just the marketing department. They must want to create value for the customer in order to engage them. It is a team effort. That is why it is important to understand marketing and how you play a role or fit in it. A value delivery network is key to delivering customer value. Suppliers, distributors, employees, and customers must work together closely to improve the performance of the entire system. Developing differentiation in the market contributes in creating superior customer value in order to capture value in return. Companies that understand their brand and communicate it well to their targeted audience are going to achieve success. As consumers change, companies must change with them. If they fail to adapt, it is a good chance they will be left behind. T Mobile is a good illustration of creating differentiation and adapting to consumer changes in the market. Cellular customers have become tired of being locked into two year agreements with their cellular providers. They wanted to have the freedom of switching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Pros And Cons Of Nationalization And Regulation Of The... Nationalization and Regulation of the American Healthcare System According to a study from The American Journal of Medicine, more than 60% of bankruptcies in America are due to medical bills. We are spending more and more each year on health care, much more than other countries whose healthcare quality is on par with ours. These high costs are the result of our flawed system that favors corporations over individuals and is in a dire need of reform. As tax paying Americans, we should be willing to pay higher taxes in exchange for affordable healthcare, as those living in an industrialized country should not have to worry about essential services such as health care. This increase in taxes can be invested to construct an infrastructure for regulating the costs of and standardizing medical services, as well as to fund medical research, among other benefits for every person. The cost of hospitalization and prescription medication is exorbitant. Healthcare insurance is not cheap either. Insurance companies insist that they provide members with a broad range of benefits and conscientious service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many more cases such as Pineman s, where patients are forced to pay out of pocket since their insurance policy does not cover their specific treatments. The expenses can amount to thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars for treatments of more serious illnesses such as cancer.
