Venezuela Economic Crisis Essay
Over 135,000 Venezuelans waited on an international bridge to enter Colombia so that they could
shop for food, toiletries, and medicine which are hardly available in any of the country s stores. The
government of Venezuela had closed the borders a year ago, but briefly ordered them open twice this
week. Governments made the decision to open the borders after 500 women, mostly dressed in white,
broke through the border controls to buy food in Colombia on July 10. Many of the Venezuelans sold
their personal items to be able to afford food and groceries, and some invested their savings and
emergency funds to provide for basic necessities of their families. This is money we had been saving
for an emergency, and this is an emergency, said Ramiro Ramirez, who crossed the border ... Show

Things are hard and we urgently need food. I have a granddaughter who s 2, and we can only give her
mashed potatoes because we can t find rice or pasta, never mind milk, Mariana Montes told Wall
Street Journal. Venezuela has experienced cyclic economic crisis for decades, and the recent one is
triggered by falling oil prices (country s major source of revenue), and consequent balance of payment
crunch and triple digit inflation, all of which led to shortages of food and household product supplies.
Already the multinationals are closing offices in Venezuela, shops are short of basic supplies such as
oil, rice, flour, and sugar, and if the situation gets worse, it might deal a hard blow to the country.
Protests and riots have become more frequent in the country since September last year when economic
condition gradually started getting worse. MarketWatch reported that inflation is predicted to rise and
cross 1,640 pert by next year. The nation s currency Bolivar has taken a sharp plunge downward, and
has made it more difficult for the people to afford products of daily

Identity And The Search For The Self Among The Sub...
Chapter One
Theorising Identity and The Search for The Self among the sub continental Diaspora in Britain
Identity has always been a problematic area of interrogation epistemologically, existentially and
politically and it continues to propel our thought. Etymologically, the term is derived from Latin word
Idem meaning same (Oxford Online Dictionary) which means specific quality or condition of being a
specific person or an object . A person s identity is determined in terms of his/her inherited traditions,
particularly the inherited religion of the community in which they happen to be born, the place and
society, gender, features and last but not the least the colour of the ... Show more content on

The concept of Identity has been defined and studied in different fields of studies ranging from
Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology and Cultural Studies.
Recent trends in Psychology on Identity Theory: In the recent past identity is seen as a self narrative
which is held as the base for the construct of a person s identity. The behaviour in salience to the
social setting is the base of identity formation. The Identity Theory (Stryker 1968, 1980, 1989; Stryker
and Serpe 1982, Mc Calls and Simmons 1978, R.H. Turner 1978) explains social behaviour in terms
of the reciprocal relationship between the self and the society . The term is used to define the links
between a multifaceted notion of the self and wider social structure. (Burke 1980; Mc Call and
Simmons 1978; R.H. Turner 1978). It is an extension of the symbolic interactionist theory postulated
by Mead (1934) and Blumer (1969) that society influences social behaviour through its affects on the
self (Micheal A Hogg, et al.). However, the Identity theory rejects the symbolic interactionist theory as
relatively undifferentiated, co operative whole (Stryker 1980, 1987; Stryker and Serpe 1982) and
argues that society is complexly differentiated, but nevertheless organized (Stryker and Serpe
1982:206) and thus predicated the idea of the

Rape Myth Acceptance
Rape Myth Acceptance: Maintaining the Status Quo
According to the FBI database, in the year 2013 a rape occurred roughly once every 6.6 minutes. (US
Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). This is based on 79,770 reported cases
of rape following an eighty year old definition, which defines rape as carnal knowledge of a female
forcibly and against her will (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). In
2013 however, the definition of rape was changed, and now reads, Penetration, no matter how slight,
of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another
person, without the consent of the victim (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation,

(Aronowitz, Lambert, Davidoff, 2012, p. 179) The same study also stated that despite the correlation
between a higher sexual knowledge and lower rape myth acceptance (RMA), that increasing
knowledge only will not fix this problem, but it is a necessary piece of the

Roles Of The Registered Nurse
Introduction
In 2010 and 2011 inclusive, approximately 2.4 million hospitalisations within Australia were for the
purpose of surgery. Of the approximated 2.4 million, 1.9 million of these were classified as elective
admissions (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2010 11). Australia is shown to have an ageing
population, (Australian Bureau of Statistics. 2006) which indicates an increasing percentage of
patients undertaking surgery are elderly with numerous comorbidities. In considering these it pre
operative assessment as a means of risk management prior to surgery seeks to reduce the potential
probability of perioperative complications.
The Role of the Registered Nurse in Pre operative Assessment
The role of the registered nurse in Preoperative assessment is fundamentally to undertake a clinical
risk assessment where the health of a patient is evaluated to determine if a person is fit to undergo the
anaesthetic for a planned operation. Preoperative patient assessment is essential in identifying patient
risk factors, provision of information and education, as well as the facilitation of any required
measurements or laboratory studies, such as blood tests or electrocardiographs (Hines, Munday,
Kynoch, 2013). A well designed pre operative framework will decrease the likelihood of failure to
advance to surgery owing to communication and/or administration errors (Rai Pandit, 2003).
Considering the role of the registered nurse in terms of pre operative assessment it

Evaluation Of The Standardized Patient Experience
Reflective Evaluation
The standardized patient experience was useful and interesting for me because I became more
confident and active during nursing practice after that practice exam. This practical exam helped me
recall my professional experience from year 2012 and 2013 when I worked as a nurse in my country.
After that practice exam, I knew how staff nurses deal and communicate with patients from a different
culture and spoke different language. My specialization is nursing education, but I wanted to take
more practical classes during the course or study to obtain first hard experience and confidence in
dealing with patients.
I had the opportunity to elicit a comprehensive health history by using skillful interviewing
techniques. However, I was nervous and panicky because I thought the time will be not adequate to
complete the practical exam. I applied my skills and experience during health history section, but the
problem was I did not deal with any real patient during nursing practical about two years ago. After I
introduced myself to the patients, I started to ask and write patient name, age, and chief complaint.
Then, I started to ask patients about subjective data which included a history of present illness, past
medical history, family history, and personal and social history. I did an appropriate job with
subjective data. I did not ask patients about sexual history during subjective data based on their
situation and age. Also, according to my previous experience

A Contract For Knowledge Management Services
Context
Background and Objectives
This was a contract for knowledge management services proposed by a consulting company to the
client, Train Monitoring System (TMS). The objectives of the contract were: The Role of the Contract
First, the contract states scope of the services delivered by consulting company and the terms and
conditions in agreement in order to avoid any types of misunderstanding (Swaab, 2014). Second, the
contract can put restrictions on the behaviors of both parties as it is legally enforceable. Third, the
contract defines the rights, limits and obligations for both parties and these can be used as evidence in
dispute. It protects both consulting company and TMS and minimizes their business risks.

Deliverables and Acceptance
The deliverables section is to outline the outcomes that contractor should provide to obtain payment
(University of Newcastle, n.d.). The current section only listed report as the only deliverable and lack
of details. The presentation and workshop were omitted. The current section also omitted acceptance
criteria, which is essential to define breach and poor performance and to provide evidence for
withholding of payment, even penalty. Recommendations are:
To specify the title, contents, pages, format, due date and price for report, presentation and workshop.
To clearly identify the acceptance criteria regarding quality and time of deliverables.
To describe when breaching, withholding payment and penalty will be applied.
Client Inputs
Client input is to help clients to understand the requirement for consultancy to complete the work. The
current client inputs were neither specific nor sufficient for conducting the project. Recommendations
are:
To specify all inputs TMS should provide, including location, office, facilities, materials and
documentation.
To outline the time and requirement for each listed items.
To specify which stakeholders will be notified.
To specify personnel in TMS engaged in this project.

Auto Wreck
Auto Wreck by Karl Shapiro is an impressionistic poem that delves into the understanding of
technology and the horrific contentment that society has with automobile wrecks. Written during the
1940 s Shapiro has been known for writing about simplistic things yet with grave detail. In Auto
Wreck Shapiro uses similes and metaphors to describe a surreal feeling of an automobile wreck. He
has determined that everyday citizens have become too detached from the everyday violence caused
by automobiles. Shapiro aims to prove that the mechanical monsters that threaten everyday life have
become too mundane in today s society. During the poem, Karl Shapiro uses an abundance of similes

He states that every auto wreck can cause a massive amount of danger while being ignored by the
common people around the wreckage. He goes on to describe the wreckage as Empty husks of locusts
(Line 20) how they are locust like in the destruction that they cause. An auto wreck is an extravagant
and almost unreal in the destruction that it causes to the people involved. He describes the people by
saying We are deranged, walking among the cops. (Line 15) He is showing how the people are
mentally disturbed by the extreme amount of damage that has happened. Shapiro then goes into detail
describing the way the police cover up the horrific violence that has happened. One with a bucket
douches ponds of blood (Line 18) this line referees to the police washing away the heavy ponds of
blood in the streets. This seems to be common for the police as they already have an understanding of
how to deal with this extravagant violence. He details the world around him and how some officers
have different jobs when cleaning the car crash up. The officers almost seemed detached from this
violence as they have become used to this violence. It s a horrific thought that these officers could be

How Is Sound Used In Film
Sound has been used in films since the silent era to denote the change in mood and develop characters
actions through piano soundtracks played through the film. Better sound systems have developed with

In The Darjeeling Limited the director shows the audience the culture shock the characters are going
through by changing the volume of the music. When the film starts a prologue can be heard that
introduces the audience to the setting. With the end of the prologue the movie plays Jalsaghar by
Satyajit Ray at a louder volume to shock the audience and show the change in culture (Gilbey, 2007).
The song has an Indian tune and playing it tells the audience that they should expect an Indian setting

Although the primary utilization of this book is centered on the psychological aspects of racial
dialogues viz. race talk, it also exposes the irrational fears, attitudes, and beliefs, inherent in our (The
United States) society. It is about the persistent avoidance of honest dialogues on race that may
uncover the true inequalities and injustices inflicted on people of color. What talking about race does
is open the dialogue and allow a view of the lived experience of those who suffer from oppression. It
potentially grasps these experiences and presents the possibility of moving the reader from a perceived
nonracist being into the realm of antiracism. From the nonracist point of view, one can be silent on the

You immediately catch on that this is a big part in why they are having marital problems; they are both
extremely overwhelmed with grief. Shukumar is so overwhelmed that he seldom leaves the house
whereas Shoba is so overwhelmed but stays away from the house as much as she can. The house
reminds her of her loss. Shukumar even says that she treats the house as if it s a hotel and that she
began putting in extra hours at work . Shukumar and Shoba s grief have led them to withdrawing from
one another. Until the nightly power outages, they avoided each other as much as possible. Shukumar
even stays in the room he knows Shoba doesn t want anywhere near because the baby s crib was once
there. Symbolism can be seen in the power outages. When the power is off, Shukumar and Shoba
become intimate and share things with one another. The darkness represents their safe place and the
relationship they once shared before the loss of their child. But as the title explains, this is only
temporary . The power outages will only happen over a period of five days and after that everything
will go back to the way it was. The loss of the baby symbolizes the turning point for their marriage.
After the loss of their child, things quickly began to change. We know this because Shukumar is
constantly reminiscing and going back to how his wife once looked or how she once cooked. A

Subconscious Mind In Brave New World Essay
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World contains many extremes, from not having viviparous reproduction
to having lots of sex and taking lots of drug to not having any literature and to revolving everything
around Ford. The controllers in Brave New World control the people of the society by exploiting
Freud s studies of the subconscious mind.
Freud believed that through hypnosis one could go into one s subconscious and recover a memory that
was hidden from the conscious mind. In Brave New World the controllers of the society use Freud s
idea of accessing the subconscious while people are under hypnosis. Instead of retrieving lost
memories, they implant phrases, truths that must be believed on the deepest level possible: the
subconscious. One hundred repetitions three nights a week for four years, thought Bernard Marx, who
was a specialist on hypnopædia. Sixty two thousand four hundred repetitions make one truth. (Page

Long-Term Care Reimbursement Analysis
Long Term Care Reimbursement
Who Covers Reimbursement for Long Term Care
Long term care has many funding sources which includes government funding, privet insurance, out
of pocket payments, and any combination of any of these programs. Privet insurance includes
insurance for long term care and managed care (HMO, PPO, POS). While government funding
includes Supplemental security income, Department of veteran affairs, Older American act, Medicare,
and Medicaid. With Medicare and Medicaid providing the most funding to long term care (Pratt, 2016,
p. 292 306). If Medicare and Medicaid are the biggest funders for long term care what services do

An Overview of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So why isn t insurance for those sixty five and older the biggest payer of long term care? This
contradiction to what you would think is a result of the restrictions put on long term care by both types
of insurance. Medicaid only sets the restriction that the person must be over twenty one, have a
medical need (verified by a doctor) for help with their daily living, and the care be given in a
Medicaid certified facility. If these requirements are met Medicaid will cover nursing facilities, home
health, and some day care facilities. However, each state set their own services so the Medicaid
eligible services may be different from state to state (Meedicaid.gov, n.d). Medicare on the other hand
does not cover long term care that helps with the functioning of everyday life. Medicare only covers
subacute care weather in your home or a facility. With the requirements being that the facility must be
at a Medicare licensed facility, the patient has to be transferred from an acute hospital, the transfer
must be prescribed by a doctor, and or the patient must have been released from a hospital stay within
the last sixty days (CMS, 2014). Medicaid pays for long term care users who have difficulty living
everyday life, performing everyday activities, and have a lifelong medical disorder needing assistance
to function at just about any age. While, Medicare pays for

Saint Francis Of Assisi Analysis
Kind and giving, Saint Francis of Assisi had these attributes. Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he
definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt
a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his
saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and
sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God.
This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying
was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as
prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is
what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they
are less fortunate.
Loving and considerate, this saying tells us not to be hateful or abusive to the impoverished, Francis is
gently lecturing more fortunate people to help those who need food more than they do. This is a
reminder for us as well, even if we don t feel old enough anyone can help. If we do not speak up for
others then there will be no one to speak up for us when we need it most. ... Show more content on

`` Cows, Pigs, Wars, And Witches By Marvin Harris
Cows, Pigs, Wars, and Witches by Marvin Harris divulges into some difference and components of
culture around the world. He answers question as to why individuals perform and act the way they do
in relation to culture. He looks at sexual hierarchies among Yanomamo culture as well as the Hindu s
respect for cows in India.
The Savage male chapter of the book attempts to explain human sexual hierarchies. There are two are
categorical areas that divide the theories; unmodifiable instincts and adaptiveness of lifestyles. Harris
expectation if sexual hierarchies were only decided by anatomy and cultural capacities are that women
would be the dominant gender because women are able to give birth. There is an expectation they
would modified or remove forces that may be harmful to them, and that the populations of males

Characteristics Of Hard Discount
I. Hard discount model
a. Creation and development of this model in Germany
Firstly, I think that it is necessary to define what hard discount is to better understand how this model
works and how it has changed through the time. Hard discount store is a store that sells mainly food in
free service and this business model is also characterized by its low prices, small retail space and a
limited assortment of products. We can find some brands in hard discounters, but it represents a
minority. The reduced staff and the versatility of this one is another characteristic of this business
model.
Hard discount found its origins in Germany at the end of the 40s. Launched by the Albrecht brothers,
founders of Aldi, this new way of consuming is a success in Germany since the late 60s and for the
rest of Europe in the 80s. This revolution has known success in Germany with brands such as Norma,
Aldi and Lidl. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a way of life in Germany. There is no the cultures of food or gastronomy like in France, so it s not
a problem to buy discount products in Germany, at the contrary.
Today, there are 2 giants of the discount model in the world: Aldi Lidl. The international success of
hard discount model was clearly in the 90s. In 2009, the 2 Germans companies were in the top 10
global grocery retailers, so it is significant of the success of this revolution.
Hard discount needs a special organization. This business model has to respect some rules, such as
prices below average, few marketing, few decoration, a small staff, a maximum of 800 product
references and simple rays.
Who has never felt this feeling of extreme simplicity when entering in a discounter? Consumers can
clearly identify when he is in a discounter. All these characteristics can be found in each brand of

Health Care And Family Dynamics
In the modern and ever changing world improvements in life quality, healthcare, and technology have
enhanced and extended life. Although in many ways, this has been a good thing, it has also created a
number of issues that prior generations did not face. In addition to changes which are enhancing and
extending life, younger family members are becoming more regional and less local. Children are
moving away for college and to take on jobs to move forward with their own lives at a much larger
scale than years prior. These factors bring on a whole new set of issues in regards to elder care and
family dynamics than ever before. One of the most common issues faced occurs when the wishes of
an elderly adult is in contrast to opinion of family members, caregivers, or health care providers.
Different ideas about what is best in terms of living accommodations, healthcare decisions, and
general care are only a few of life decisions that plague families . This can be especially sensitive
when elderly adults are still of sound mind. There are also occasions where physical limitations,
sickness or the need for help put elderly adults in situations that are adamantly against their wishes
due to lack of support or the adverse opinion of family members. There are also changes in values
which have occurred over generations which cause disparity between younger generations and older
generations. The values of family first, and obligations to elderly family members have for various

Abstract
In this brief, data tables will be analyzed because it can be critical to the accounting cycle. With
accurate data that is informing, Kudler Fine Foods ought to be able to make more practical business
decisions. With Kudler Fine Foods using data table to order, keep inventory, and to process their
products, they can become more successful and on top of the food industry. As a company, Kudler
needs to evaluate their design elements of the data tables that are needed for review from an
accounting perspective. An entity relationship program would need to be developed showing the past

Recommendations A recommendation that would be beneficial for Kudler is to provide online
ordering. This will allow customers to check out Kudler s website, and this can be a way that Kudler
can track how many people view their website daily. This will also allow Kudler to follow the areas
such as zip codes to do mailouts, this would advertise their company and their products. Another
recommendation that needs to be made is to have one set of GL codes for all three locations. They
should have one inventory report that shows all of their products whether it is at another location. This
will make it easier for management to follow the inventory lists and to pay more attention to the
products that are being sold quicker than others. This will save time having to pull inventory reports
for each location and to see what they sold. Since Kudler orders their products from around the world,
I think it would be a good idea to have an international GL code for those items that are purchased in
different parts of the world. This will also let the customer know where the item that they re
purchasing originated. This will make Kudler unique by giving other countries recognition to products
that are produced in their parts of the world. According to Microsoft, if you are required to use the
exact group of records repetitively, for example, when operators are paging in a grid, it can be
competent to fill up those records into a dataset

Racial Relations Between The Police And Minority...
Do relations between the police and minority and the police and non minority communities differ,
how, and for what reasons?
If the question is posed to the minority communities and the non minority communities than the
resounding answer would be yes! One persistent in the argument over policing and racial relations in
America is how differently this issue is looked at by blacks and whites.
Pew Research Center polling has continually found that blacks and whites have very different views
about many sides of race all together from trust in the police to advances on racial equality. In one
example, 48% of whites said quite a bit of progress has been made since 1963, compared with 32% of
blacks, according to a 2013 survey conducted just before the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King
Jr. s March on Washington.
But compare those views with the views on how police deal with minorities in a survey shortly after
the Ferguson shooting when 80% of blacks said the incident brought up important issues about race.
Whereas only 37% of whites thought the same. In yet another poll in which blacks told of less trust
than whites in local police to treat both races equally. About (71%) expressed a great deal or fair
amount of trust in local police to treat blacks and whites equally, compared with just 36% of blacks.
Those dissimilarities were long standing: The differences were similarly wide when the question was
asked in 2009 and 2007.

Student Veterans And Traditional Students
As the number of student veterans continues to increase within the university system, it is imperative
to examine both the similarities and the differences between student veterans and traditional students
(students without military experience), and what effect those differences may have on student veterans
ability to succeed. We surveyed thirty undergraduates at the University of Alaska Anchorage,
assessing their grade point average, age, hours spent studying, and various other factors which we
deemed our criteria for success . In doing so, we believed that we would find a radical difference
between the grade point average of student veterans compared to their traditional counterparts. The
data collected suggests that our hypothesis was correct: student veterans were a letter grade behind
their peers. This gap in achievement between the two groups suggests that student veterans ability to
adjust to life within the university system requires further examination. As more veterans continue to
seek higher education, it is essential that those within the university system strive to understand, and
alleviate some of the difficulties burdening this emerging demographic.

The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table
The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers,
masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are
called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the
periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as
inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more
elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly
discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was
little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead
(Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people
for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of
nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato,
another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term
element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These
elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a
thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there

The Influence Of The March On Washington
William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black labor
unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in 1941.
Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the proceedings as a
prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the March on Washington
Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through the March on Washington
that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus of The March on Washington
revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolph and his mostly male peripheral contacts before the
march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations of the 1963 March on Washington
were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent black female leaders. The March on
Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt s inability to address the problems
associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor sectors of federally funded defense
industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30). A. Philip Randolph originally predicted
that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the march approached the numbers increased from
10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers, domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the
Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where
did he think these people would come from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the
recognition that his movement was informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary
McLeod Bethune, the president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW
(Jones, 34). As Randolph s most prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s
clubs and sororities, like Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters,
telegrams and long distance telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership
exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34). Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the
capacity needed to intimidate the nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers.

Bearded Hercules
Throughout history, many civilizations have risen and fallen carrying along with them their
perspectives and beliefs manifested in works of art. All civilizations have erected monuments to not
only prove they existed, but because they believed they would remain permanently. The Ancient
Greeks were no different, portraying their ideal standards of beauty and proportion into their
sculptures. Their ideal perception of adulation represented the highest form of perfection, comparable
to the infinite impeccability of their gods and goddesses ( ). Evidently, the Ancient Greeks ideals
served as a prerequisite that transcended into the ideals of their successors, the Ancient Romans. The
Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules exemplifies the emergence of unique Roman standards
intertwined with the praised idealism of the Ancient Greeks.
The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, as Greek art was engrossed by the Romans
resulting in the development of new standards of beauty and proportion, from creating numerous
copies of Greek sculptures. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules, dating back to 68 98 A.D., is

Baker Adhesive Case Essay
John Kroeger FINA 470 Baker Adhesive Case March 22, 2012 1. How profitable is the original sale to
Novo once the exchange rate changes are acknowledged? How has the exchange rate risk, which
affected the value of the order, been managed? In the original order, Nova was billed BRL 104,338.30
for their purchase. After the exchange of currency from BRL to U.S. dollars, Baker was estimated to
receive $48,371.24 (104,338.30 * .4636). This means that Baker brought in $55,967.06 less from their
deal with Nova than was expected. Since the exchange rate risk was not managed, Baker brought in

Novo s first order to Baker consisted of 1210 gallons of adhesive. Their second order increased in size
by 50% to result in an order of 1815 gallons of adhesive. Baker also faced an increase in costs of their
materials by 10%. Baker only had to buy 25% of the products needed to create the order Novo
requested because they had the other 75% on had so the 10% increase in cost only applied to the new
25% of materials. Novo s price per gallon of adhesives for their first order was 86.23 in Brazilian real.
To find the new price per gallon for the adhesives we need to take into account the change in material
cost. We then come up with the following equation: 86.23*(.25*.1) =2.16+86.23=88.39 New price per
gallon The component (.25*.1) comes from the increase in material cost and the amount of materials
that increase applies to being that only 25% of the materials needed for the order had to be purchased
because the other 75% was already on hand. Baker s costs for Novo s new order are as follows (given
the 50% difference in size order between the first order and the new order): Labor | 9000 | Materials
(with 10% increase in costs) | 52000 | Manufacturing Overhead | 6000 | Administrative Overhead |
3000 | Total Costs | 70000 | Now, to find the price of the sale in real for Novo and the revenue for
Baker we have the equation: 1815*88.39 = 160,430 1815 is the amount of gallons Novo needs, 88.39
is the price per gallon we found

Essay on Arctic and Alpine Soils
Arctic and Alpine Soils
Proposal
(Ant)arctic (high latitude) and alpine (mountain) areas are affected by relatively similar climates, as
latitude and altitude produce similar meteorologic effects. In these geographic regions where
temperature is at such a pronounced extreme, climate would seem to be the leading factor of soil
development. It is my goal in this research paper to answer the following question: How do the soils
of arctic and alpine areas differ? This idea, taken largely from an abstract by Birkeland (1975), will be
explored through the comparison of the soils of these two geographic regions, and an analysis of the
soil development factors in those environments.

However inaccurate as Dokuchaev s generalization may be, a critique of his proposal provides an
excellent tool to examine and compare the soils of similar Arctic and Alpine regions.
Similarity in Arctic and Alpine Geographic Regions
There are pedologic cases in which one of the five soil forming factors established by Jenny (192?) is
so prominent and effectual that it outweighs the sum of all of the other factors, resulting in the
definition of different soil series almost wholly upon differences in that dominant soil forming factor.
For example, in the Carleton Arboretum, our Soils class found that the differences in soil series were
defined mostly on the basis of parent material. Most groups had a direct correlation between the
distribution of soil types and the distribution of parent materials.
In the case of Arctic and Alpine* soils, it is climate which largely outweighs all of the other soil
forming factors. As previously stated, the intense cold associated with high latitudes and high altitudes
separates Arctic and Alpine areas from other geographic regions of Earth. I believe that upon this basis
Dokuchaev made his analog between horizontal and vertical zonality of soils. Through an examination
of a number of Arctic and Alpine soils and the pedogeneses of such soils, I aim to expand and adjust
his hypothesis, as I feel he did not understand fully the complexity of Alpine

Ignorance During The Middle Ages
If you look at different time periods throughout history from a historian s point of view, the Middle
Ages is a era widely accepted to be a period of ignorance where little to no advancement took place.
Superstition replaced philosophical thinking, and religion overpowered everything else. The
Renaissance however, was the polar opposite. It was a rebirth of European civilization and often
characterized by the escalation of interest in classical learning and values. During the Renaissance
ground breaking invention or application of influential innovations took place with paper, printing, the
mariner s compass, and gunpowder. There were significant changes in science, such as the substitution
of the Copernican for the Ptolemaic system of astronomy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many agree that the science of archaeology had its birth in the classical revival. The Roman ruins
were the first object that attracted the devoted curiosity of the Italian scholars. Due the rise of
humanism and critical thinking, the artifacts that remained inherently sparked a need to understand a
history of their ancestors. During the Renaissance, the fascination in the history and culture of past
civilizations grew, and lead to exceptional discoveries all over the world. By tracking the story of
mankind, it allowed the scholars of the day as well as present day scholars, to have an entirely new
view of the beginning of history. If it wasn t for the questioning spirit that defined the Renaissance,
there wouldn t have been an urge to explore past cultures using the remains they left behind. With this
new information on past civilizations and a revolutionized form of critical thinking, came the science
of historical criticism. The founder of this field was Laurentius Valla. His most celebrated
achievement was the confirmation of the unauthentic character of the Donation of Constantine, a
forged Roman Imperial decree where emperor Constantine I transferred authority over the western
part of the Roman Empire to the Pope. Vala s achievements paved the way for historical criticism
during the time. He began a period of examining historical sources thoroughly and discovering its true
value. This new

Hockey Players Are Pretty Good People

professionals playing in the NHL, or instance; P.K. Subban, current Nashville Predator, and former

The Rebirth of Ancient Cultures in Renaissance Florence Florence, Italy is known as the cradle of the
Renaissance (la culla del Rinascimento). It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The
Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but
eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics
have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the
rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been
lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during
the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers,
artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the
philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived
interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts,
and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government. Italian
thinkers had an interest in the ways that ancient Greeks and Romans thought, a driving force of the
Renaissance. It was the Florentines who first set out to rediscover the glorious past of these cultures.

is the best skin , Oh you re cute for a dark skin girl , or She s light skin, so she has to be stuck up . The
black community refers to the two skin tones as if they re two different races and one is better than the
other. To sum up this behavior in one word, I would have to use colorism. Colorism is defined as
prejudice or discrimination based on the relative lightness or darkness of the skin; which usually

being ugly, dirty and probably lacks self respect. But in the eyes of different ethnic groups, especially
Caucasians, we are all seen as Black or African American. The division

Function Of Humorists In Status Anxiety By Latins Anony
A few people may have the audacity to say that the United States presidential election of 2016 was a
buffoonery. From email scandals to the usage of vulgar language, it can be said for certain that the
nation was divided up between two political extremes. However, despite the controversy within the
nation, we saw the rise of a band of citizens speak freely about their beliefs, humorists. In Alain de
Botton s 2004 book, Status Anxiety, he challenges the notion about the function of humorists in

convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly. The author
believes this due to the fact humorists are granted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely heard of, one unique, humorous speech named the La La Awards by Latins Anonymous tackles
a genuine issue in the world. It is a satirical monologue about an emcee rejecting their heritage, in this
case a Latino heritage, by impersonating white prominent figures in culture at an awards show. At the
end of the monologue, the emcee professes their genuine identity, a proud bilingual individual with a
Latino background. Aside its humorous content, it teaches society a valuable lesson. It encourages
culture to embrace their shared humanity, one of countless struggles humans fear to do. How do we
know if this would actually occur? We are compelled by those who we look up to or make a sacrifice
for the greater good. Consequently, humorists do not merely entertain, but educate society in a
humanistic perspective. While some may argue that humorists may serve a pointless purpose in the
community, it is apparent they play a factor in the world. Humorists consist of cartoonists, stand up
comics, satirical writers, and hosts of television programs, all of which are actual jobs. Stating they
just make people laugh discourages their self esteem, ultimately affecting society because they are
influentially deprived. Thereby, humorists should not be viewed as incompetent because they speak
openly for a multitude of people, and impact them in solicitous

  • 2. Venezuela Economic Crisis Essay Over 135,000 Venezuelans waited on an international bridge to enter Colombia so that they could shop for food, toiletries, and medicine which are hardly available in any of the country s stores. The government of Venezuela had closed the borders a year ago, but briefly ordered them open twice this week. Governments made the decision to open the borders after 500 women, mostly dressed in white, broke through the border controls to buy food in Colombia on July 10. Many of the Venezuelans sold their personal items to be able to afford food and groceries, and some invested their savings and emergency funds to provide for basic necessities of their families. This is money we had been saving for an emergency, and this is an emergency, said Ramiro Ramirez, who crossed the border ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Things are hard and we urgently need food. I have a granddaughter who s 2, and we can only give her mashed potatoes because we can t find rice or pasta, never mind milk, Mariana Montes told Wall Street Journal. Venezuela has experienced cyclic economic crisis for decades, and the recent one is triggered by falling oil prices (country s major source of revenue), and consequent balance of payment crunch and triple digit inflation, all of which led to shortages of food and household product supplies. Already the multinationals are closing offices in Venezuela, shops are short of basic supplies such as oil, rice, flour, and sugar, and if the situation gets worse, it might deal a hard blow to the country. Protests and riots have become more frequent in the country since September last year when economic condition gradually started getting worse. MarketWatch reported that inflation is predicted to rise and cross 1,640 pert by next year. The nation s currency Bolivar has taken a sharp plunge downward, and has made it more difficult for the people to afford products of daily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Identity And The Search For The Self Among The Sub... Chapter One Theorising Identity and The Search for The Self among the sub continental Diaspora in Britain Identity has always been a problematic area of interrogation epistemologically, existentially and politically and it continues to propel our thought. Etymologically, the term is derived from Latin word Idem meaning same (Oxford Online Dictionary) which means specific quality or condition of being a specific person or an object . A person s identity is determined in terms of his/her inherited traditions, particularly the inherited religion of the community in which they happen to be born, the place and society, gender, features and last but not the least the colour of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of Identity has been defined and studied in different fields of studies ranging from Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology and Cultural Studies. Recent trends in Psychology on Identity Theory: In the recent past identity is seen as a self narrative which is held as the base for the construct of a person s identity. The behaviour in salience to the social setting is the base of identity formation. The Identity Theory (Stryker 1968, 1980, 1989; Stryker and Serpe 1982, Mc Calls and Simmons 1978, R.H. Turner 1978) explains social behaviour in terms of the reciprocal relationship between the self and the society . The term is used to define the links between a multifaceted notion of the self and wider social structure. (Burke 1980; Mc Call and Simmons 1978; R.H. Turner 1978). It is an extension of the symbolic interactionist theory postulated by Mead (1934) and Blumer (1969) that society influences social behaviour through its affects on the self (Micheal A Hogg, et al.). However, the Identity theory rejects the symbolic interactionist theory as relatively undifferentiated, co operative whole (Stryker 1980, 1987; Stryker and Serpe 1982) and argues that society is complexly differentiated, but nevertheless organized (Stryker and Serpe 1982:206) and thus predicated the idea of the ... Of the approximated 2.4 million, 1.9 million of these were classified as elective admissions (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2010 11). Australia is shown to have an ageing population, (Australian Bureau of Statistics. 2006) which indicates an increasing percentage of patients undertaking surgery are elderly with numerous comorbidities. In considering these it pre operative assessment as a means of risk management prior to surgery seeks to reduce the potential probability of perioperative complications. The Role of the Registered Nurse in Pre operative Assessment The role of the registered nurse in Preoperative assessment is fundamentally to undertake a clinical risk assessment where the health of a patient is evaluated to determine if a person is fit to undergo the anaesthetic for a planned operation. Preoperative patient assessment is essential in identifying patient risk factors, provision of information and education, as well as the facilitation of any required measurements or laboratory studies, such as blood tests or electrocardiographs (Hines, Munday, Kynoch, 2013). A well designed pre operative framework will decrease the likelihood of failure to advance to surgery owing to communication and/or administration errors (Rai Pandit, 2003). Evaluation Of The Standardized Patient Experience Reflective Evaluation The standardized patient experience was useful and interesting for me because I became more confident and active during nursing practice after that practice exam. This practical exam helped me recall my professional experience from year 2012 and 2013 when I worked as a nurse in my country. After that practice exam, I knew how staff nurses deal and communicate with patients from a different culture and spoke different language. My specialization is nursing education, but I wanted to take more practical classes during the course or study to obtain first hard experience and confidence in dealing with patients. I had the opportunity to elicit a comprehensive health history by using skillful interviewing techniques. However, I was nervous and panicky because I thought the time will be not adequate to complete the practical exam. I applied my skills and experience during health history section, but the problem was I did not deal with any real patient during nursing practical about two years ago. After I introduced myself to the patients, I started to ask and write patient name, age, and chief complaint. Then, I started to ask patients about subjective data which included a history of present illness, past medical history, family history, and personal and social history. Helping lepers and giving to the poor, he definitely had the right to say, Not hurting our humble brethren is our first duty to them. He never hurt a soul, even animals fell into his care. Francis, a Roman Catholic friar and preacher, lived up to his saying. Above the treetops he watched beautifully feathered birds, calling them his little brothers and sisters. He treated all with respect, building others up for the glory of God. This proverb may be confusing to some, but Saint Francis did not mean it to be. Gently, this saying was directed to wealthier healthier people, saying that they should help those who are not as prosperous. An easier way to think of this quote is, Do not hurt those less fortunate than us for that is what they desire most. This meaning that we should never tear down or hurt others just because they are less fortunate. There are two are categorical areas that divide the theories; unmodifiable instincts and adaptiveness of lifestyles. Harris expectation if sexual hierarchies were only decided by anatomy and cultural capacities are that women would be the dominant gender because women are able to give birth. There is an expectation they would modified or remove forces that may be harmful to them, and that the populations of males would be smaller and feel more gratitude to the women. If the question is posed to the minority communities and the non minority communities than the resounding answer would be yes! One persistent in the argument over policing and racial relations in America is how differently this issue is looked at by blacks and whites. Pew Research Center polling has continually found that blacks and whites have very different views about many sides of race all together from trust in the police to advances on racial equality. In one example, 48% of whites said quite a bit of progress has been made since 1963, compared with 32% of blacks, according to a 2013 survey conducted just before the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr. s March on Washington. • 25. Student Veterans And Traditional Students As the number of student veterans continues to increase within the university system, it is imperative to examine both the similarities and the differences between student veterans and traditional students (students without military experience), and what effect those differences may have on student veterans ability to succeed. We surveyed thirty undergraduates at the University of Alaska Anchorage, assessing their grade point average, age, hours spent studying, and various other factors which we deemed our criteria for success . In doing so, we believed that we would find a radical difference between the grade point average of student veterans compared to their traditional counterparts. The data collected suggests that our hypothesis was correct: student veterans were a letter grade behind their peers. This gap in achievement between the two groups suggests that student veterans ability to adjust to life within the university system requires further examination. As more veterans continue to seek higher education, it is essential that those within the university system strive to understand, and alleviate some of the difficulties burdening this emerging demographic. • 27. The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers, masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato, another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Influence Of The March On Washington William P. Jones s The March on Washington begins by highlighting A. Philip Randolph, a black labor unionist and civil rights advocate, who attempted to organize a March on Washington in 1941. Although Randolph s original march failed to come to fruition, the novel depicts the proceedings as a prerequisite to the 1963 march. Depicting Randolph as a central figure to the March on Washington Movement, the novel tells the story of the events leading up to and through the March on Washington that took place on August 28, 1963. Although the majority of the focus of The March on Washington revolves around the actions of A. Philip Randolph and his mostly male peripheral contacts before the march, I argue that the capacity and framework of the foundations of the 1963 March on Washington were substantially influenced by the actions of prominent black female leaders. The March on Washington of 1941 s was a response to President Roosevelt s inability to address the problems associated with discrimination and segregation in the labor sectors of federally funded defense industries and in every sector of the military (26, 27, and 30). A. Philip Randolph originally predicted that 10,00 people would attend the march, but as the march approached the numbers increased from 10,00 to 50,00 to 100,00 Negro laborers, domestics, mechanics, professionals would arrive at the Capital for the march (Jones, 37). Why did Randolph expect such an increase in numbers, and where did he think these people would come from? It is likely that Randolph s confidence stemmed from the recognition that his movement was informally backed due to pressure from Jeanetta Welch on Mary McLeod Bethune, the president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) by the NCNW (Jones, 34). As Randolph s most prominent backer, the NCNW consisted of a network of women s clubs and sororities, like Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), who sent an avalanche of more than 3000 letters, telegrams and long distance telephone calls to white house officials, whose entire membership exceeded 800,000 (Jones, 34). Without the support of NCNW Randolph wouldn t have had the capacity needed to intimidate the nation s president with the possibility of 100,000 mass marchers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Bearded Hercules Throughout history, many civilizations have risen and fallen carrying along with them their perspectives and beliefs manifested in works of art. All civilizations have erected monuments to not only prove they existed, but because they believed they would remain permanently. The Ancient Greeks were no different, portraying their ideal standards of beauty and proportion into their sculptures. Their ideal perception of adulation represented the highest form of perfection, comparable to the infinite impeccability of their gods and goddesses ( ). Evidently, the Ancient Greeks ideals served as a prerequisite that transcended into the ideals of their successors, the Ancient Romans. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules exemplifies the emergence of unique Roman standards intertwined with the praised idealism of the Ancient Greeks. The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, as Greek art was engrossed by the Romans resulting in the development of new standards of beauty and proportion, from creating numerous copies of Greek sculptures. How has the exchange rate risk, which affected the value of the order, been managed? In the original order, Nova was billed BRL 104,338.30 for their purchase. After the exchange of currency from BRL to U.S. dollars, Baker was estimated to receive $48,371.24 (104,338.30 * .4636). This means that Baker brought in $55,967.06 less from their deal with Nova than was expected. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Novo s first order to Baker consisted of 1210 gallons of adhesive. Their second order increased in size by 50% to result in an order of 1815 gallons of adhesive. Baker also faced an increase in costs of their materials by 10%. Baker only had to buy 25% of the products needed to create the order Novo requested because they had the other 75% on had so the 10% increase in cost only applied to the new 25% of materials. Novo s price per gallon of adhesives for their first order was 86.23 in Brazilian real. To find the new price per gallon for the adhesives we need to take into account the change in material cost. We then come up with the following equation: 86.23*(.25*.1) =2.16+86.23=88.39 New price per gallon The component (.25*.1) comes from the increase in material cost and the amount of materials that increase applies to being that only 25% of the materials needed for the order had to be purchased because the other 75% was already on hand. Baker s costs for Novo s new order are as follows (given the 50% difference in size order between the first order and the new order): Labor | 9000 | Materials (with 10% increase in costs) | 52000 | Manufacturing Overhead | 6000 | Administrative Overhead | 3000 | Total Costs | 70000 | Now, to find the price of the sale in real for Novo and the revenue for Baker we have the equation: 1815*88.39 = 160,430 1815 is the amount of gallons Novo needs, 88.39 is the price per gallon we found ... Essay on Arctic and Alpine Soils Arctic and Alpine Soils Proposal (Ant)arctic (high latitude) and alpine (mountain) areas are affected by relatively similar climates, as latitude and altitude produce similar meteorologic effects. In these geographic regions where temperature is at such a pronounced extreme, climate would seem to be the leading factor of soil development. It is my goal in this research paper to answer the following question: How do the soils of arctic and alpine areas differ? This idea, taken largely from an abstract by Birkeland (1975), will be explored through the comparison of the soils of these two geographic regions, and an analysis of the soil development factors in those environments. Introduction Both high latitude and high altitude ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However inaccurate as Dokuchaev s generalization may be, a critique of his proposal provides an excellent tool to examine and compare the soils of similar Arctic and Alpine regions. Similarity in Arctic and Alpine Geographic Regions There are pedologic cases in which one of the five soil forming factors established by Jenny (192?) is so prominent and effectual that it outweighs the sum of all of the other factors, resulting in the definition of different soil series almost wholly upon differences in that dominant soil forming factor. For example, in the Carleton Arboretum, our Soils class found that the differences in soil series were defined mostly on the basis of parent material. Most groups had a direct correlation between the distribution of soil types and the distribution of parent materials. In the case of Arctic and Alpine* soils, it is climate which largely outweighs all of the other soil forming factors. As previously stated, the intense cold associated with high latitudes and high altitudes separates Arctic and Alpine areas from other geographic regions of Earth. I believe that upon this basis Dokuchaev made his analog between horizontal and vertical zonality of soils. Through an examination of a number of Arctic and Alpine soils and the pedogeneses of such soils, I aim to expand and adjust his hypothesis, as I feel he did not understand fully the complexity of Alpine ... It was a rebirth of European civilization and often characterized by the escalation of interest in classical learning and values. During the Renaissance, the fascination in the history and culture of past civilizations grew, and lead to exceptional discoveries all over the world. It is a city full of beautiful architecture, art, and history. The Renaissance was a powerful cultural movement that not only shaped all aspects of Florentine life, but eventually the rest of Europe. Science, art, literature, philosophy, religion, architecture, and politics have seen heavy influences by this movement. The term Renaissance literally means rebirth : the rebirth of man and the rebirth of two important ancient cultures, Greek and Roman, which had been lost with the beginning of the Middle Ages in Western history. Florence was very prosperous during the late Middle Ages, next to Venice and Milan. It was the birthplace of many important thinkers, artists, architects, and political figures who led the Renaissance. Along with the birth of the philosophy of humanism, the rebirth of ancient Greek and Roman cultures were driven by a revived interest in ancient thought, the advances in literature, the emphasis of human based ideals in the arts, and the influence of the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire upon the Florentine government.
