Alcohol Is Bad Essay
Alcohol is a very dangerous thing that people love to do for like stress relief. Another reason is
because someone offers you it. Alcohol can damage your body in so many different ways. There are

Wall Street Essays
Wall Street
To many a metaphor for a semi real place where fortunes are made and lost, Wall Street is actually a
very real place with a very rich history. Among investors, Wall Street refers to the collective set of
financial institutions in New York City including stock exchanges, banks, brokerages, commodity
markets, money markets, hedge funds, etc.[1] These institutions buy and sell securities in capital
markets. Securities are contracts, to borrow money or fund a company for a stake in its ownership for
example, that can be traded at a price. Capital markets are the markets, like stock exchanges, where
these securities are traded. Generally, companies need money to produce what they sell and investors

In 1903 the NYSE moved to its current building on Wall Street. In 1907, a panic caused by the
collapse of the Knickerbocker Trust bank was considered the worst crash in Wall Street history to
date. During WWI, the Exchange was closed for five months, the longest period in its history. After
the war stock prices soared on Wall Street, and stock market speculation became widely popular.[4]
The 1929 Crash
The 1920s was a decade of intense stock market speculation. The stock market permeated popular
culture much more than it does today. In 1929, a British correspondent wrote, You could talk about
Prohibition, or Hemingway, or air conditioning, or music, or horses, but in the end you had to talk
about the stock market, and that was when the conversation became serious. [5] During the 1920s,
stocks listed on the NYSE more than quadrupled in value. People believed that the market could only
keep going up. A prominent Yale economist, Irving Fisher, is known for claiming in the 1920s that
stocks were absolutely not overvalued and that, The nation is marching along a permanently high
plateau of prosperity. [6] Believing that stocks would just continue to increase in value, many
investors bought stock without researching different companies profitbablity. When people buy stocks

Why I Want To Study Chemical Engineering
Society needs engineers that can and will change the world. I want to study Chemical Engineering
because of its increasingly significant role in our society, particularly across a variety of industries
from petrochemicals to environmental technology. Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering
that applies physical sciences (physics and chemistry), life sciences (microbiology and biochemistry),
together with applied mathematics and economics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use
chemicals, materials and energy. It is about making processes and facilities function more efficiently.
In the first paragraph I will be talking about the founder of Chemical Engineering and how it started.
In the second paragraph I will be talking about how to be a chemical engineer. In the third paragraph I
will be talking about the history of chemical engineering and I will finish everything off in the last
paragraph.
The founding father of chemical engineering is George E. Davis. He was born in July 27, 1850 in
Eton, United Kingdom and died in 1960 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He was the oldest son in
his family. Davis studied at the Slough Mechanics Institute while working at the local gas works, and
then spent a year studying at the Royal School of Mines in London before leaving to work in the
chemical industry around Manchester, which at the time was the main centre of the chemical industry
in the UK. He worked as a chemist and an inspector for three years. He married

Rhetorical Devices Used In Alice In Wonderland
The Many Meanings of Alice in Wonderland Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass, written by acclaimed British author Lewis Carroll, have enchanted people young and
old since their publications. Mr. Carroll uses many rhetorical devices to enhance these two fairytales
including but by no means limited to irony, symbolism, theme, metaphor, alliteration, and ambiguity.
Many types of irony are used throughout Alice s Adventures in Wonderland in particular. One example
of a particular form of ambiguity seen frequently is the use of homophones. Homophones are words
that sound the same but have different meanings such as air and heir . Alice encounters this variety of
obscurity first in chapter three after she has fallen down that fateful rabbit hole. Situational irony in
this story begins when Alice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter three, Alice and several animals including a mouse, a duck, a dodo, a lorry, and an eaglet
were soaking wet after escaping the sea of tears that Alice had previously cried. When discussing how
they were to get dry again, Mouse spoke up. This is the driest thing I know. he said. Mouse then began
to speak in a monotonous tone about William the Conqueror and other dull or dry things. (Wollner)
Since this was obviously unable to get the group out of their soggy state, Dodo suggested that they run
a Caucus race. A caucus in politics is similar to a political party, and a race is a contest between
people, in this case for votes. The caucus race in this fairytale is a literal race course in which There
was no One, two, three, and away! but they began running when they liked, and left off when they
liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over. . When Dodo decided that the race was
over, he awarded prizes to everyone. This use of ambiguity pokes fun at the political caucuses and
elections of Lewis Carroll s time period.

The Industrial Revolution Essay
The Industrial Revolution
Going to work for a full day isn t much fun after working fifteen hours the day before! 60 70 hour
work days are never pleasant in anybody s mind. How is it that so many people did this during the
Industrial Revolution? Was it because they wanted the extra money? Or was it because they wanted
the high political or economic status? For some people these were the reasons, but for most it was
because of one concern. Survival! The Industrial Revolution greatly changed the workplace and the
proletarians.

significant invention of the Industrial Revolution (Mantoux 230 250). The Spinning Jenny and the
Steam Engine were the key inventions that created the Industrial Revolution.
In the beginning of the nineteenth century factory working conditions were bad. Diseases that
occurred in the occupation were at a high risk also with, accidents and harsh discipline. These were
the physical affects of the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, but with them were issues with
social class consisting of moral degradation, and female competition for male jobs. Also from the
factory style of life abortion was quite high and infant and child deaths were at the highest rate ever
recorded. (King Timmins 55)
Most 19th century factories were grim brutal places, and working conditions were harsh. The normal
factory worker contained a shift of 14 to15 hours. This is not to add that it might take the workers two
hours to walk there and back. Working conditions were so bad that it caused diseases. For

Aviation Maintenance Trends
Aviation MaitenanceTrends To fly was a tremendous triumph for mankind, who was previously
sentenced to a life only walking the earth. Since the inception of the airplane, there has been aircraft
maintenance. However, this industry has changed dramatically throughout the years and now involves
highly innovative technologies and incredibly skilled technicians in order to best maintain the
incredibly complex aircraft that fly in today s skies. Maintaining an aircraft is a harmonious blend
between simple and intensely complicated procedures. Many procedures even still used to day are
relatively simple and have existed for generations, including the basic engine work, refueling and
other servicing procedures, and other after market manufacturing that might take place on particular
planes. This is now combined with impressive and innovative technologies that are highly regulated
under a wide number of international agencies. Aviation maintenance history actually begins long
before the first airplane took flight. Aircraft have existed in numerous forms before the iconic airplane,
and as such, aviation maintenance had to deal with aircraft like balloons. The first recorded incident
where a human flew in a craft was in 1783, when Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier flew in a balloon that
was powered by a burning wood fire (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, 2012). This obviously had a
serious maintenance issue, as uncontrollable open flames posed serious health and engineering risks.

Case Study Of Pizza Delivery

a project manager for Pizza Delivery Quickly, your main concern is about monitoring the established

Metrics can facilitate the tracking system, which is essential for evaluating the current project

consideration for any project, which measures can be implemented effectively when some parts of the
project are lagging behind and not keeping up with the metrics. The Pizza Delivery Quickly case study
can benefit from an evaluation of the entire structural system of the project and its team in order to

Deficit Theory Essay
Class is a socio economic set of groups, in which every individual falls into (Phillips, 2012), these
groups include lower, working, middle and upper class. These classes impact on the resources that
people have access to. This influences the environment in which a student is raised in, which also
impacts their on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, impacting their ability to succeed in
education. The correlation between a student s environment, health and home can be explained by
Bourdieu s class theory (Lyall, 2016), Pere s (1988) Te Wheke theory, Durie s (1994) Whare Tapa

Children can become stressed due to experiences such as living in violent neighbourhoods, constantly
moving homes and being bullied in school (Dobrin, 2012). Being stressed distracts children from
learning; they don t have the ability to focus on their work while they re worrying about their home
life (Levy, 2014). The deficit theory suggests that students from low income families often don t do
well in school (Irizarry, 2009; Gorski, 2010). A child s ability to learn can often be based on the
teacher s attitude about their learning ability. It is often instinctive for teachers to approach a child s
learning with their weaknesses in mind, not their strengths (Gorski, 2010). Concentrating on what the
child can t do allows for learning progress in this area, enabling the child to keep up with the rest of
the class. However, this can be discouraging for children and can make them feel defined by their
weaknesses. Research shows that when a teacher is actively supportive of a child s strengths and
weaknesses, as well as being involved in their learning, that child will feel a better sense of belonging
and engagement (Mainhard, Brekelmans, Wubbels, 2011). Peters (2013, p.1) states Child poverty
often goes hand in hand with other social problems including child homicides, physical neglect and
abuse, and sexual and emotional abuse . Dealing with a poor home life and an unsupportive school life
can be emotionally and spiritually taxing for anybody, let alone a child. School needs to be a safe
place for children to come and feel equally supported alongside other students (Levy,

Astell s works inspired many women to follow her ideas. Mary wanted to create the institution that
would be oriented towards women personal development, where they would be able to become self
sufficient beings, both emotionally and intellectually. Her feminist innovation was to recommend that
women should educate themselves, look for ways to support themselves, and cultivate friendships
with other women rather than seeking shelter in the marriage and accepting their husbands as the
absolute authorities. Mary Astell and many other feminist philosopher and writers of the
Enlightenment period spoke out and made their voices heard on the issue of women being educated.

The Eight Stages Of Erikson s Theory Of Identity And Identity
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be focusing on Erikson s theory of psychosocial development. There are
eight stages in which only the fifth stage identity versus role confusion will be discussed. Aspects such
as identity crises, exploration of autonomy whilst developing a sense of self, factors that may
contribute to identity formation as well as the successful/unsuccessful resolution of this particular
stage will be discussed thoroughly. James Marcia s identity statuses will be also highlighted. This
essay will then progress into a case study based on Anna Monroe in connection to the difficulties she
was confronted with such as gender, sexuality, peer pressure, suicide and the experimentation with
different identities she encountered.

Hollywood and the film industry has been impacting American culture and society for many decades

industry reacts to the market created by the consumers but also comes up with new and creative ideas.
These ideas and innovations are tested by those who see the film and how successful they are. One
market that has ebbed and flowed through the times has been religious themed films. America is
influenced by the role of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. An important story from these
religious groups is the exodus of the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians. The first major
movie that Hollywood created to tell this story is the Ten Commandments produced in 1956 by Cecil
de Mille starring Charlton Heston as the great leader Moses. Recently the film industry created the
movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings, produced in 2014 by Ridley Scott with Christian Bale as Moses.
Both of these films try to follow the general framework of the exodus of the Hebrews from the
Biblical narrative. Pharaoh of Egypt controlled the enslaved Israelites. Even under that oppressive
control the Israelites grew their population, which concerned the Pharaoh of an uprising. He decided
that the firstborn males of the Israelites should be killed to reduce their population and to keep
authority over them.

Narrative Essay About Mickey Mouse
I remember the event like it was yesterday; my heart was beating and I could hear and feel it, I had
determination on my face and in my mind and it felt good. My determination was to beat my younger
brother to the top of the tree in our side yard. I almost never climb the trees in our yard for the fear of
falling out; which has happened before when we went apple picking which did not end well on my
part of climbing in those apple trees. But we were getting ready that nice sunny morning in the
summer. I remember the nice sunshine and heat on my face and the cool winds coming from the East
and it was just exhilarating. I told my brother Michael I bet you five bucks you can t beat me to the top
of that tree! pointing at one in the yard. I knew he would do it because he would want the money and
he always wanted to one up me.
So we were setting up and talking smack to one another, names being changed to something else
although I deflected all of his I came up with the nickname of Mickey Mouse. Funny thing is that
nickname stuck around through that day and not his real name Michael. So we are all prepared to do it
and we are at the bottom of the tree. I noticed that there was a cinder block at the bottom of the tree
and I said Mickey better not fall on that. . And that was a dumb thing to say as to I should have just
moved it so there was no possible way it could happen. But I was just a fifth grader who did not think
through things.
Michael said I don t need to worry about

Thinking, Fractions And Decimals Are Extremely Important...
Multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals are extremely important areas of mathematics children
are required to develop. The concepts within these three areas are related and it is critical for educators
to support these relationships in the classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts,
the relationship between multiplication and division and underpins the development of fractions.
Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers, the multiple ways
equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented as decimals. Place value is a very
important underpinning concept of decimals. Place value aids the ability to read, write and work with
decimals. There are a number of difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts
and relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge
educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come their difficulties. Developing a
deep understanding of multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals will assist children in later
mathematics.
To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and understanding of
the relationship between multiplication and division must be developed. If children do not develop the
ability to recall basic multiplication facts they can be in danger of developing negative feelings
towards mathematics and becoming withdrawn (Booker, Bond,

Pedro Almodovar Auteur
A film that I found to be interesting and entertaining was Volver (2006) by Pedro Almodovar.
Almodovar is a director that received acclimates of being a very distinct auteur very early in his
career. Almodovar s style and influences are prominent all throughout Volver. I will be discussing
Volver and how it has become a typical icon film of Almodovar s work. Many of Almodovar s film are
reflective of his upbringing. Almodovar said, You can say my films are melodramas, tragicomedies,
comedies or whatever because I used to put everything together and even change genre within the

Ultimately the death of Paco and the supposed resurrection of Irene s death end up resolving many
issues and proving alternate positive outcomes for Raimunda and her family. In addition, Almodovar
always sets his films in Spain. Although Almodovar has the liberty to go all over the world and film
wherever he wants he chooses not to. Volver is set in two main places. The main story is set in Madrid.
Raimunda lives in Madrid with her daughter. In addition, Madrid is also where the restaurant that
Raimunda takes over is at. In addition to making Madrid one of the places that Volver takes place at a
small portion of the film also takes place in called La Mancha, which is also in Spain. Almodovar
likes to use places that are familiar to him. For example, La Manca is a place that is familiar to
Almodovar. Furthermore, Almodovar later moved to Madrid as he grew up in order to pursue his film
career although the local film school had just shut down. Volver plot was first mentioned in one of
Almodovar s earlier films called The Flower of My Secret, in which it was mentioned as a novel
which is rejected for publication but it is later stolen to form a screenplay of a film called The Freezer.
Almodovar likes to mention himself in different aspects. In addition in The Flower of My secret the
main character writes many books under a pseudonym and Almodovar also had a

Advanced Technology Research Paper
As the human race advances more towards the future, we are able to discover more about our past and
better preserve our people and culture. Multiple technological advances allow different researchers
and explorers to excavate our past and predict the environmental future. The different types of
technology include an underwater mailbox system , Dropsonde Hurricane Sensors, and the Light
Detection and Ranging technique (LIDAR). In addition, the most advanced technology these hunters
have access to today is the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. GPR is the most advanced
technology because of it s increased efficency and versitality when exploring ruins and searching for
artifacts.
Ground Penetrating Radar is more efficent for researchers and explorers due to the increased scanning
size, less time spent on manual labor, and the decrease in resources required to explore archeological
sites. NASA scientists compare the GPR technology to that of pushing a lawnmower in ... Show more

example of underground excavations is the NASA scientists use of GPR in Gordion to excavate tombs

Long Distance Relationship And How To Make It Work Essay
Long Distance Relationship and How To Make It Work
Dear Love Lady,
I have a love problem and I don t know what to do. I am a freshman in college and so is my boyfriend.
We have been together since our senior year in high school, and we are very much in love. But, since
we ve been at college, we have developed a problem. We don t see each other from month to month.
You see, we go to colleges in completely different states. We have always lived on the same street, but
now we are so far apart. I don t even know if it will work, or better yet how to make it work. Any
advice? Sad and In Love, Atlanta, GA

I would pretend that it was my boyfriend doing it and then I would think of how I would feel if he did
it. If you would get upset about it, than 10 times out of 10 so would he.
There has to be trust in every important relationship, a relationship won t last if there are doubts on
either end. Always trust that your boyfriend is being honest with you and always be honest with him.
The next thing a long distance relationship needs is communication.
Good communication is a MUST! You and your boyfriend have to have open lines of communication.
If something is bothering one of you, you must tell the other how you are feeling. If you don t be open
the other will never know what you are thinking or if there is a problem. Unless of course you can
read minds.
Just kidding! There shouldn t be secrets kept from one another and if there are open communication
lines, it will avoid any types of problems.
Another aspect of communication that is important is expressing your feelings. If you are missing
your boyfriend a lot one day, tell him. It will make him feel good to know that you are thinking of him
and need him. By expressing your feelings, it will keep the relationship open and honest. And also add
a little excitement for the next time you get to see each

Civil Rights Movement And The Women s Liberation Movement
Liberation Movement of Women
In modern day, many fail to realize we were not always equal as a nation. In the past, women were
treated much differently. They were viewed as inferior to men and were denied many rights that we
have now. Women struggled to achieve their civil rights.
On Election day in 1920, millions of American women voted for the very first time. On August 26,
1920, the 19th Amendment was passed. Women suffrage caught the nation attention first in July 1848
at Seneca Falls, New York. More than 300 women gathered to commence the women s suffrage

to pass the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Although the bill was a great first step for equality, not all women

triumph for women and anyone who was being discriminated against. To uphold equal civil rights, the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was also created. The purpose of the EEOC
was to investigate any type of discrimination in work environment areas and to enforce equal

Parallelism In The Lottery
With visual imagery, Jackson tricks the audience into believing this is an innocent village; however, as
the story unfolds, the dark nature of these residents becomes apparent. On the day of the lottery,
individuals select a white slip from a tattered box. Ultimately, the resident possessing the slip marked
with a black dot gets stoned to death. No one questions the lottery, and the original purpose remains a
mystery. Some say it is beneficial for the village s harvest. Only when Tessie Hutchinson discovers
she is the winner, does she object to the lottery and argue how the system is unfair. Her protest fails, as
the villagers persist in the brutal stoning. Jackson s story reveals the dangers of blindly following
tradition and the darker aspects of human nature, such as the absolute cruelty in people s actions.
Focusing on recent mass shootings and the parallelisms in attitudes between Jackson s villagers and
Americans reveal how daily life in the United States is becoming a lottery.
Within the context of this story, there is a link between the villager s lottery and mass shootings today.
For the small village, the lottery is a deadly game of chance, in which the unlucky winner is incapable
of escaping his or her fate. Reflecting on recent attacks, the chances of death due to mass shootings
are becoming statistically inevitable. They occur in churches, nightclubs, festivals, and elementary
schools. While the residents in Jackson s story participate in a fatal lottery

The Qur an further encourages sex by outlawing celibacy and permitting polygamy, thus reinforcing
heteronormative sexual behavior. Since the purpose of sex is procreation according the religious text,
homosexuality is seen as an aberration of Allah s will which threatens Muslims with extinction. As a
result, there is officially no room for homosexuality or homosexuals within Islam.43
Scholars of shari a, Islamic law, interpret homosexuality to be not merely a sin, but a crime as well.
Despite this, there is no specific punishment for homosexuality; instead, the decision is left to the
discretion of the ruling authorities. Shari a encourages those accused of homosexuality to repent
instead of confessing to the crime . This phenomenon can potentially explain the paucity of historical
literature of punishment of sexual transgressions.44 Islamic law stands for privacy and protects it by
all means. Besides, it repeatedly emphasizes that a person is innocent until proven guilty without any

Essay on The Republican Party
The Republican Party
The Republican party is one of the two major POLITICAL PARTIES in the United States, the other
being the DEMOCRATIC PARTY party. It is popularly known as the GOP, from its earlier nickname
Grand Old Party. From the time it ran its first PRESIDENTIAL candidate, John C. Fremont, in 1856,
until the inauguration of Republican George BUSH in 1989, Republican presidents occupied the
WHITE HOUSE for 80 years. Traditionally, Republican strength came primarily from New England
and the Midwest. After World War II, however, it greatly increased in the Sunbelt states and the West.

major parties, with its support coming from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new party was a success from the beginning. In the 1854 congressional elections 44 Republicans
were elected as a part of the anti Nebraskan majority in the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, and
several Republicans were elected to the SENATE and to various state houses. In 1856, at the first
Republican national convention, Sen. John C. Fremont was nominated for the presidency but was
defeated by Democrat James BUCHANAN. During the campaign the northern wing of the KNOW
NOTHING PARTY split off and endorsed the Republican ticket, making the Republicans the principal
antislavery party.
Two days after the inauguration of James Buchanan, the Supreme Court handed down the Dred Scott
v. Sandford decision, which increased sectional dissension and was denounced by the Republicans. At
this time the nation was also gripped by economic chaos. Business blamed tariff reductions, and
Republican leaders called for greater tariff protection. The split in the Democratic party over the issue
of slavery continued, and in 1858 the Republicans won control of the House of Representatives for the
first time. One Republican who failed that year was Abraham LINCOLN, defeated in his bid for a
U.S. Senate seat by Stephen A. Douglas.

The Musculoskeletal System Of The Human Body
Not only are there damages to the immune system of the human body, but the musculoskeletal system

analyzed statistics on sick leave and found that musculoskeletal problems among administrative
workers were higher than in any other industrial sector, and similar to those in construction, metal
industry and transport (Cranz, 2000, p. 98). This is saying that people who are working office jobs,

comparing the lifestyles of societies whose people are deskbound to ones that are not. When cultures
such as the Japanese perform tasks such as squatting to use the toilet, or to stand up from a bed that is
on the floor (not elevated) requires a full range of motion. This full range of motion is lost when
humans sit in an unnatural state for a majority of their day, and makes aging an accelerated process. It
s known that sitting and rising from the floor is a basic functional process integrated into all human
movement patters, and when one loses the ability to perform this action, they lose their livelihood.
Performing this action requires proper posture, flexibility and muscle strength, which are all weakened
by being deskbound and the sedentary lifestyle. A Brazilian study created a sitting to rising test (SRT)
to judge whether or not functional capabilities, such as getting up off the floor with little

When Irene Character Analysis
I believe that Claire was pushed out of the window at the end of the novel. This belief stems from the
buildup of resentment that Irene had felt toward Claire during the entirety of the story, but I thought
that in the final section this resentment began to go from simply not agreeing each other to Irene
feeling threatened by Claire.
Irene and Brian have what seems to be a marriage held together by children and when Irene begins to
suspect Claire is using her charms to win over Brian, Irene immediately starts to fear Brian leaving her
for Claire. This would rip apart the stability that Irene wants so desperately in her life and she cannot
allow that. We have watched Irene attempt to manipulate people throughout the story, especially with
Brian as exemplified by her not allowing Brian to leave his job for the sake of the family. When Irene
starts to imagine Claire taking away Brian, I think that it is not a stretch to think that Irene would do
whatever it takes to make sure that the situation could not possibly come up.
Looking past Irene s desire for stability, I believe that her continuous jealousy towards Claire would
serve as proof for Irene pushing Claire out of the window. Irene describes Claire ... Show more

Irene begins to imagine the possibility of Brian and Claire having an affair and begins to spin a web of

critical as it shows us that Irene can be pushed to rash and violent action when she thinks about Claire
taking her husband away from her. While the argument can be made that breaking a cup and pushing a
person are two separate actions with the later being harder to carry out, I think that Irene perpetually
overthinks things to the point where she blocks out the outside world whenever something stressful

Rising Sea Levels
Global warming has become a very big problem in our world today. It has created everything from
bad air quality to water pollution in our world. These are just some of the consequences of global
warming. However, I would like to speak on one topic as it regards to global warming. We have now
discovered that global warming is causing our polar ice caps to melt thus creating rising sea levels.
This has become a very large topic, and many scientists are scrambling to find solutions to stop this
problem. If the rising sea level isn t fixed we will see a massive amount of damage caused to our
coasts, and coasts around the world for that matter. The consequences would also be dire for my home
state of Florida. Florida is susceptible to rising sea levels because so much of the land is barely above
sea level. The consequences in Florida would be detrimental. Consequences of rising sea levels could
affect our economy, human quality of life, and the environment. This issue hasn t caused too much
damage on the state of Florida s environment yet. However, the projected amount of damage that it ll
do to the environment is absolutely devastating. The rise in sea levels would destroy anything, and
everything in it s path. This includes estuaries that are natural in nature, but have many benefits to
humans and wildlife alike. The rise in sea level would sink these estuaries and would leave Florida
vulnerable to different threats. One of these threats would be the concern of hurricanes. The

This decision raised controversy with regard to the exclusion of illegally acquired evidence across all
levels of the United States court system. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue
of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to
appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a
unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the
14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials
involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the
right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at
which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective
counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979).
The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on
persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to
counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. In an unusual decision of 5 4, the court
ruled that incriminating evidence stated by the accused cannot be admissible in a court

The hemiplegia associated with FHM typically resolves. It is also accompanied with cerebellar ataxia
that is related to the 19p locus. So far three genes are recognized as causing FHM. The type I FHM is
caused by mutations in theCACNA1A gene located on 19p13. FHM type 2 is linked to mutations in
the ATP1A2 gene and the type 3 is attributed to the mutations in the SCN1A gene. Migraine is also
associated with other inherited disorders such as mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic
acidosis, and stroke like episodes (MELAS) as well as cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with
subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL). Migraine is also a common clinical
manifestation of various genetic vasculopathies such as retinal vasculopathy with cerebral
leukodystrophy (RVCL) and hereditary infantile hemiparesis, retinal arteriolar tortuosity, and
leukoencephalopathy (HIHRATL). These two vasculopathies are autosomal dominant disorders.
However the process by which these genetic vasculopathies causing migraine is still not

Opinions towards Imperialism in Antigua in the Novel, A...
In the novel, A Small Place, Jamaica Kincaid expresses her opinion towards imperialism in Antigua,
which has change the way how Antiguan people live. She then talks about issues of tourism and
corruption, and how everything to the readers is your fault as she described. Kincaid also reveals the
native s view on tourism. The book is written in second person, explaining her opinion, and the reader
is spoken to directly in the book. To make more sense of this, the reader is like a tourist whose visiting
Antigua. The book starts outs having the readers introduced to Antigua for its sight and beauty, but as
the book progresses, Kincaid shows the readers how Antigua really is. The whole setting of Antigua
seemed to have gone unrepaired, living conditions are very poor, and places such as schools that are
mentioned to be unrecognizable. Kincaid also creates feeling of shame and misfortune for the
Antiguan people and blames the tourists, yet the tourist doesn t really seem to care for the moment.
Native inhabitants have different opinions of tourist. Most see them as friendly patrons, but others
such as Jamaica Kincaid, may see them as ignorant or cold hearted people who just don t understand.
Her novel is considered to be anti imperialist because the way she explains the issues of tourism and
corruption, two of the themes which became dominant after British colonization.
In every country, tourism has always been a way to earn money. Tourist just cannot resist into visiting

Accusations And Rumors In What Nietzsche Really Said
German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, is one of the most read, least understood yet influential
thinker who brought forth new questions for many philosophers to follow. There are many accusations
and rumors around Nietzsche. In What Nietzsche Really Said these accusations and rumors that
surrounded Nietzsche are allayed and supported by his impact and influential views. What Nietzsche
really said depends on what one reads and how one interpret what ones reads thus, the interpretation
of these accusations and rumors are either helpful or harmful about Nietzsche. Three helpful rumors
about Nietzsche is that he adored power, he was a (pre) postmodernist and argued fallaciously.
Although he was apolitical, people believed that his will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Nietzsche s works were published way before he became mentally ill, people questioned as
to why they should believe a mad man? What man would protect a horse from being beaten by its
driver? Scholars also claimed that they had detected some craziness in his last book, Ecce Homo.
Ironically, as a madman , some of the title of the chapters in Ecce Homo are Why I Am So Clever,
Why I Am So Wise, etc. This assumption led to the hesitation to follow Nietzsche. Having to also be
accused of a Nazi, his sister(whom followed Hitler) influenced Nietzsche s political views when he
went mad. Futhermore, this lead to the rumor of Nietzsche favoring Eugenics, which favored those
with desirable characteristics and annihilating those without them. Nietzsche favoring Eugenics was a
misunderstanding, he favored a breeding race that was more intelligent, creative, and less resentful...
As stated in the passage, he did not practice Eugenics due to a lack of a child. Lastly, the influence of
Nietzsche s Ubermensch lead two students to kill a child in order to reveal their inner Ubermensch.
Ubermensch represents one s overcoming; to become more than what you are, to be great, and to let
go of things that causes a distraction to fulfill Ubermensch. Nietzsche should not be punished for one s
stupidity and misinterpretation. In conclusion, these rumors were completely

Tang Statue Essay
With no name and created by an unknown artist, this stone statue was created in the 7th 8th century
(during the Chinese Tang dynasty) and is a point of intrigue. Although not much is known about the
sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all
ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the
representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the statue
has been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many different
animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculpture leaves an impression of the divine. Compared to other
statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a smooth stone slab.
This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might not have much
significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to its irregular shape.
Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with varying degrees of width.
There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle is the thinest and the bottom
is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width, the artist chose to make
something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Around the plinth are a set of four holes; two
under the hind legs of the statue, one in the front end and one under the right

The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling
n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in group
counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to take note of the
proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional
levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting
parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral
treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are
concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual
consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a conflict mediator between
couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized that conflicting persons when undergoing
counseling, more often that not, harbor and exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical
behaviors, this is to expose the opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show
that they are the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling should
be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling within a group setting, calls
for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that he/she is not carried away by the different
and confusing behaviors and sentiments of the conflicting parties.

Homeostasis And Euphoria
First off, in animals or humans after using a drug for a while they develop what is known as tolerance.
Tolerance means that more and more of the drug is needed to produce that euphoric feeling that they
felt on the first time using the drug. Tolerance develops because of various cues in the environment as
they are taking the drugs. The body tries to compensate for the effect of the drugs by doing the
opposite. Let us say for instance this drug raises your heart rate, so initially your heart rate will be
raised but than your body who likes to be in homeostasis will counteract the drugs effect by lowing
your heart rate. The environmental cues are the CS that ensure that your body quickly achieves
homeostasis and hence your euphoria is brief,

J Edgar Hoover s Rise to Power
J. Edgar Hoover for nearly a half of a century was and is one the most powerful officials in the Federal
government. He was the head of the FBI from 1924 until his death in 1972; he was the chief law
enforcement officer. With intimate knowledge of politicians and how government operations made
him the man to be feared by elected officials, none of the many presidents whom he served under
dared fire him. Hoover was born on January 1, 1895, in Washington D.C. He died in Washington,
D.C., on May 2, 1972. Attended GW University and earned his degree in 1917. He became an
assistant in 1919 to Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer in the Department of Justice. Palmer is the
one that instigated the post WWI red scare this was an anti communist plaque that led to the
deportation of many aliens. In charge of deportations was Hoover, he became the director of the FBI
in 1924; he had a powerful force of law enforcement officers. The FBI s fame was enhanced by
capturing so many gangsters, lawbreakers, and bank robbers. In my paper I am going to chat about
how Hoover rose to his power and why he is one of the most corrupt government officials. He is
extremely powerful; he is a famous enforcement officer that the US has ever known. Hoover started
out on the bottom, with prestige and power he rocketed to the top, at the top of his reign he was the
director of the FBI. Factors that helped him in his career were that he had many connections, and the
power that he had a strong knowledge

Traumatic Bonding
There is an often argued debate among people throughout the world concerning arranged marriages
versus marrying for love. The argument against arranged marriages is often that the two people
marrying do not love one another, and so they may spend their entire lives in unhappiness.
Unhappiness, though, can come from any relationship, free will or not, and so is the case with
traumatic bonding. How can two people with no reasonable compatibility maintain a relationship for
any amount of time? A study by Hatfield and Rapson (1996) showed that an untold number of
husbands receive physical abuse from their wives...as well as incidences of stalking and cases of
clinical depression and suicide are commonly associated with romantic attraction... (Fisher ... Show

Abusers may feel attachment for their victims, and the victims may feel attachment to their abusers.
According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers as
children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two
situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to some
dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings about
the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data on
humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those of the
sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic bond is not
necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a traumatic bond is
possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission appear to combat the
abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are enacted to prevent further
abuse and make the relationship bearable. I will use previous research in behavior and
neuropsychology to support my

I want to study Chemical Engineering because of its increasingly significant role in our society, particularly across a variety of industries from petrochemicals to environmental technology. Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies physical sciences (physics and chemistry), life sciences (microbiology and biochemistry), together with applied mathematics and economics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and energy. It is about making processes and facilities function more efficiently. In the first paragraph I will be talking about the founder of Chemical Engineering and how it started. In the second paragraph I will be talking about how to be a chemical engineer. In the third paragraph I will be talking about the history of chemical engineering and I will finish everything off in the last paragraph. The founding father of chemical engineering is George E. Davis. He was born in July 27, 1850 in Eton, United Kingdom and died in 1960 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He was the oldest son in his family. Davis studied at the Slough Mechanics Institute while working at the local gas works, and then spent a year studying at the Royal School of Mines in London before leaving to work in the chemical industry around Manchester, which at the time was the main centre of the chemical industry in the UK. Rhetorical Devices Used In Alice In Wonderland The Many Meanings of Alice in Wonderland Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, written by acclaimed British author Lewis Carroll, have enchanted people young and old since their publications. Mr. Carroll uses many rhetorical devices to enhance these two fairytales including but by no means limited to irony, symbolism, theme, metaphor, alliteration, and ambiguity. Many types of irony are used throughout Alice s Adventures in Wonderland in particular. One example of a particular form of ambiguity seen frequently is the use of homophones. Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings such as air and heir . Alice encounters this variety of obscurity first in chapter three after she has fallen down that fateful rabbit hole. Situational irony in this story begins when Alice ... A caucus in politics is similar to a political party, and a race is a contest between people, in this case for votes. The caucus race in this fairytale is a literal race course in which There was no One, two, three, and away! but they began running when they liked, and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over. . Since the inception of the airplane, there has been aircraft maintenance. However, this industry has changed dramatically throughout the years and now involves highly innovative technologies and incredibly skilled technicians in order to best maintain the incredibly complex aircraft that fly in today s skies. Maintaining an aircraft is a harmonious blend between simple and intensely complicated procedures. Many procedures even still used to day are relatively simple and have existed for generations, including the basic engine work, refueling and other servicing procedures, and other after market manufacturing that might take place on particular planes. This is now combined with impressive and innovative technologies that are highly regulated under a wide number of international agencies. Aviation maintenance history actually begins long before the first airplane took flight. Aircraft have existed in numerous forms before the iconic airplane, and as such, aviation maintenance had to deal with aircraft like balloons. The first recorded incident where a human flew in a craft was in 1783, when Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier flew in a balloon that was powered by a burning wood fire (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, 2012). This obviously had a serious maintenance issue, as uncontrollable open flames posed serious health and engineering risks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children can become stressed due to experiences such as living in violent neighbourhoods, constantly moving homes and being bullied in school (Dobrin, 2012). Being stressed distracts children from learning; they don t have the ability to focus on their work while they re worrying about their home life (Levy, 2014). The deficit theory suggests that students from low income families often don t do well in school (Irizarry, 2009; Gorski, 2010). A child s ability to learn can often be based on the teacher s attitude about their learning ability. It is often instinctive for teachers to approach a child s learning with their weaknesses in mind, not their strengths (Gorski, 2010). Concentrating on what the child can t do allows for learning progress in this area, enabling the child to keep up with the rest of the class. However, this can be discouraging for children and can make them feel defined by their weaknesses. Research shows that when a teacher is actively supportive of a child s strengths and weaknesses, as well as being involved in their learning, that child will feel a better sense of belonging and engagement (Mainhard, Brekelmans, Wubbels, 2011). Peters (2013, p.1) states Child poverty often goes hand in hand with other social problems including child homicides, physical neglect and abuse, and sexual and emotional abuse . • 21. The History Of Hollywood And The Film Industry Hollywood and the film industry has been impacting American culture and society for many decades now. Over these decades the film industry and society became entangled. The American people influence what types and how films are produced through their actions of going to the theaters. The industry reacts to the market created by the consumers but also comes up with new and creative ideas. These ideas and innovations are tested by those who see the film and how successful they are. One market that has ebbed and flowed through the times has been religious themed films. America is influenced by the role of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. An important story from these religious groups is the exodus of the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians. The first major movie that Hollywood created to tell this story is the Ten Commandments produced in 1956 by Cecil de Mille starring Charlton Heston as the great leader Moses. Recently the film industry created the movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings, produced in 2014 by Ridley Scott with Christian Bale as Moses. Both of these films try to follow the general framework of the exodus of the Hebrews from the Biblical narrative. Pharaoh of Egypt controlled the enslaved Israelites. Even under that oppressive control the Israelites grew their population, which concerned the Pharaoh of an uprising. He decided that the firstborn males of the Israelites should be killed to reduce their population and to keep authority over them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Narrative Essay About Mickey Mouse I remember the event like it was yesterday; my heart was beating and I could hear and feel it, I had determination on my face and in my mind and it felt good. My determination was to beat my younger brother to the top of the tree in our side yard. I almost never climb the trees in our yard for the fear of falling out; which has happened before when we went apple picking which did not end well on my part of climbing in those apple trees. But we were getting ready that nice sunny morning in the summer. I remember the nice sunshine and heat on my face and the cool winds coming from the East and it was just exhilarating. I told my brother Michael I bet you five bucks you can t beat me to the top of that tree! pointing at one in the yard. I knew he would do it because he would want the money and he always wanted to one up me. So we were setting up and talking smack to one another, names being changed to something else although I deflected all of his I came up with the nickname of Mickey Mouse. Funny thing is that nickname stuck around through that day and not his real name Michael. So we are all prepared to do it and we are at the bottom of the tree. I noticed that there was a cinder block at the bottom of the tree and I said Mickey better not fall on that. . And that was a dumb thing to say as to I should have just moved it so there was no possible way it could happen. But I was just a fifth grader who did not think through things. The concepts within these three areas are related and it is critical for educators to support these relationships in the classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts, the relationship between multiplication and division and underpins the development of fractions. Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers, the multiple ways equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented as decimals. Place value is a very important underpinning concept of decimals. Place value aids the ability to read, write and work with decimals. There are a number of difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts and relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come their difficulties. Developing a deep understanding of multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals will assist children in later mathematics. To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division must be developed. On the day of the lottery, individuals select a white slip from a tattered box. Ultimately, the resident possessing the slip marked with a black dot gets stoned to death. No one questions the lottery, and the original purpose remains a mystery. Some say it is beneficial for the village s harvest. Only when Tessie Hutchinson discovers she is the winner, does she object to the lottery and argue how the system is unfair. Her protest fails, as the villagers persist in the brutal stoning. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the 14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979). The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. Migraine is also associated with other inherited disorders such as mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke like episodes (MELAS) as well as cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL). Migraine is also a common clinical manifestation of various genetic vasculopathies such as retinal vasculopathy with cerebral leukodystrophy (RVCL) and hereditary infantile hemiparesis, retinal arteriolar tortuosity, and leukoencephalopathy (HIHRATL). These two vasculopathies are autosomal dominant disorders. However the process by which these genetic vasculopathies causing migraine is still not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Accusations And Rumors In What Nietzsche Really Said German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, is one of the most read, least understood yet influential thinker who brought forth new questions for many philosophers to follow. There are many accusations and rumors around Nietzsche. In What Nietzsche Really Said these accusations and rumors that surrounded Nietzsche are allayed and supported by his impact and influential views. What Nietzsche really said depends on what one reads and how one interpret what ones reads thus, the interpretation of these accusations and rumors are either helpful or harmful about Nietzsche. Three helpful rumors about Nietzsche is that he adored power, he was a (pre) postmodernist and argued fallaciously. Although he was apolitical, people believed that his will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Nietzsche s works were published way before he became mentally ill, people questioned as to why they should believe a mad man? What man would protect a horse from being beaten by its driver? Scholars also claimed that they had detected some craziness in his last book, Ecce Homo. Ironically, as a madman , some of the title of the chapters in Ecce Homo are Why I Am So Clever, Why I Am So Wise, etc. This assumption led to the hesitation to follow Nietzsche. Having to also be accused of a Nazi, his sister(whom followed Hitler) influenced Nietzsche s political views when he went mad. Futhermore, this lead to the rumor of Nietzsche favoring Eugenics, which favored those with desirable characteristics and annihilating those without them. Nietzsche favoring Eugenics was a misunderstanding, he favored a breeding race that was more intelligent, creative, and less resentful... As stated in the passage, he did not practice Eugenics due to a lack of a child. Lastly, the influence of Nietzsche s Ubermensch lead two students to kill a child in order to reveal their inner Ubermensch. Ubermensch represents one s overcoming; to become more than what you are, to be great, and to let go of things that causes a distraction to fulfill Ubermensch. Nietzsche should not be punished for one s stupidity and misinterpretation. In conclusion, these rumors were completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Tang Statue Essay With no name and created by an unknown artist, this stone statue was created in the 7th 8th century (during the Chinese Tang dynasty) and is a point of intrigue. Although not much is known about the sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the statue has been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many different animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculpture leaves an impression of the divine. Compared to other statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a smooth stone slab. This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might not have much significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to its irregular shape. Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with varying degrees of width. There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle is the thinest and the bottom is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width, the artist chose to make something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Around the plinth are a set of four holes; two under the hind legs of the statue, one in the front end and one under the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in group counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to take note of the proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a conflict mediator between couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized that conflicting persons when undergoing counseling, more often that not, harbor and exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical behaviors, this is to expose the opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show that they are the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling should be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling within a group setting, calls for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that he/she is not carried away by the different and confusing behaviors and sentiments of the conflicting parties. • 47. Homeostasis And Euphoria First off, in animals or humans after using a drug for a while they develop what is known as tolerance. Tolerance means that more and more of the drug is needed to produce that euphoric feeling that they felt on the first time using the drug. Tolerance develops because of various cues in the environment as they are taking the drugs. The body tries to compensate for the effect of the drugs by doing the opposite. Let us say for instance this drug raises your heart rate, so initially your heart rate will be raised but than your body who likes to be in homeostasis will counteract the drugs effect by lowing your heart rate. The environmental cues are the CS that ensure that your body quickly achieves homeostasis and hence your euphoria is brief, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Traumatic Bonding There is an often argued debate among people throughout the world concerning arranged marriages versus marrying for love. The argument against arranged marriages is often that the two people marrying do not love one another, and so they may spend their entire lives in unhappiness. Unhappiness, though, can come from any relationship, free will or not, and so is the case with traumatic bonding. How can two people with no reasonable compatibility maintain a relationship for any amount of time? A study by Hatfield and Rapson (1996) showed that an untold number of husbands receive physical abuse from their wives...as well as incidences of stalking and cases of clinical depression and suicide are commonly associated with romantic attraction... (Fisher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abusers may feel attachment for their victims, and the victims may feel attachment to their abusers. According to Bowlby s attachment theory, if the victims were abused or made to act as caregivers as children, they may be more inclined to seek an abusive relationship. I hypothesize that these two situations are connected. Traumatic bonding victims feel an attachment for their abusers due to some dysfunction in their childhood relationships with their caregivers, and that relationship brings about the passive defensive behavior seen within their traumatic relationships. Observational data on humans support the hypothesis that the neural correlates of attachment are distinct from those of the sex drive and those of attraction (Fisher 1998). So, the attachment felt within a traumatic bond is not necessarily driven by attraction or sex drive, meaning that genuine attachment in a traumatic bond is possible, and though genuine attachment is possible, behaviors of submission appear to combat the abuse. Though the victim is attached to his or her abuser, behaviors are enacted to prevent further abuse and make the relationship bearable. I will use previous research in behavior and neuropsychology to support my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
