Examination Of Past And Present Ethical Guidelines On...

Ethics of Biomedical Science Research
Ioan Alexandru Beldean
Examination of past and present ethical guidelines on biomedical research
Ethics can be defined as a set of moral values informing one s decisions. But this set of moral
values can be influenced by many different things, such as various cultures, religions, and even
technological advancements. This is called moral relativism, the idea that there are no real truths in
ethics and what is right or wrong varies person by person. That is why before there was any
codes or set of rules regarding what was ethical put in place, people were able to get away with
doing all sorts of scientific research, that would now be deemed unethical. Biomedical research is to
be done to eventually better the health of humans.
Biomedical research has been going on for many years, it is how we have knowledge of many
deadly diseases as well as the discovery of vaccines and antibiotics! These things seem so
common today, but infact went through lots of stages of research to get to the technologies we
have today. However, before 1947, there were no codes of ethics or regulations to ensure that
research being done was ethical. The smallpox vaccination, although the first successful vaccine to
ever be developed, would be considered highly unethical today. Edward Jenner experimented on a
healthy young 8 year old boy without consent. In today s society, this study would never have been
allowed to continue. There are many other

Current Capability Set Fielding Field
Current capability set fielding along with future fielding s including Bradley engineering change
proposal (ECP), Armored Multi Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Engineering, Manufacturing, and
Development (EMD), and full rate production (FRP) radio variants are the Army s answer to
brigade combat team modernization. The tactical environment is the tip of the spear, a challenging
space where effectiveness, survivability, and sustainability provide the keys to success. That
success is becoming increasingly reliant on data. Data drives our missions, from operations,
intelligence, and fires, to other areas such as medical and logistics. Consumption of data is being
fueled by the introduction of new communication systems. Warfighter information tactical (WIN
T) has begun to bring this data down to the Brigade and Battalion level with the Point of Presence
(POP), and the Battalion and Company level with the Soldier Network Extension (SNE). New
radio waveforms are providing conduits for data down to the tactical edge. WIN T and Handheld,
Manpack, and Small Form Fit (HMS) radios are being integrated into Infantry Brigade Combat
Team (IBCT) vehicle platforms now. The Mid Tier Networking Vehicular Radio (MNVR) is just
around the corner in FY17. The tactical infrastructure is leveraging these new communications
capabilities to move data throughout all levels of the mission space. The Internet Protocol (IP) is
the principal communications protocol being used to move data throughout the Army s

Columbia Constitution Section 2
Section 1 The District of Columbia will terminate its status as a mere federal district and instead
be granted full statehood. The title of Washington D.C. will be terminated as well and instead the
state will be appointed with the official title of New Columbia. Section 2 2. New Columbia is to
be bestowed with proper representation in the legislative branch relative to the states current

with its population size calculated by the U.S. census; Columbia will receive a total of two

An amendment that would grant the District of Columbia statehood is absolutely necessary and
should be ratified as soon as the amendment process would allow. The amendment is a necessity
because it will address a multitude of problems that affect citizens of Washington D.C. due to its
unique legal status as a district. The three most prominent issues that citizens of Washington feel
need to be resolved are financial planning in the district, representation in Congress, and
lawmaking. Before one can fully back and support the movement for this amendment, they must
first observe the characteristics of Washington D.C. that make it a viable candidate for statehood.
The first impressive statistic regarding Washington D.C. is its population size; in 2016 the district
had a population of 681,170 people. This large amount of residents would make Washington D.C.
eligible for representation in the House of Representatives, which is an impressive feat.
Washington D.C. has also managed to amass a booming economy in addition to its large
population. In 2011 the District of Columbia possessed an unemployment rate of 5.9%, a
percentage that was 3.1 points lower than the national average of 9% (ncsl.org). Another impressive
statistic from 2011 was the fact that Washington D.C. accounted for 6% of the United State s
overall job despite the fact that at the time it only contributed for about 2% of the country s overall

Life Cycle Assessment
University of Windsor
Life cycle analysis (LCA) compares the environmental effects of products and services by
quantifying all inputs and outputs of material flows and assessing how each material flow affects
the environment ( Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Overview . sftool.gov. 8 Aug 2015.). Life cycle is
not only the purchase or use the product but also its assessment of raw material production,
manufacturing, use and disposal of the product including all of the transportation between each
step. The two main types of LCAs are attribution LCAs and Consequential LCAs. Attribution LCAs
are more associated with the products production and use or service at one point in time.
Conversely the consequential LCAs look at the environmental consequences ... Show more content

The paper also discusses non renewable energy consumption that impacts parameters such as
global warming, acidification and non renewable resource depletion. The final bits that were
talked about in the paper were the NOx that was released during distribution, the water

the environment. To look at the paper I would have to say that the paper was to the point and

Socrates, Machiavelli, And Rousseau s Views On Political...
Socrates, Machiavelli, and Rousseau are three philosophers discussing political ethics from entirely
different perspectives. This paper argues that Socrates, Machiavelli, and Rousseau are all idealists
regarding their stances on political ethics. First, this paper argues that Socrates is an idealist due his
belief that the current government has much more potential than it is currently reaching, and that
the government could eventually be changed. Second, this paper argues that Rousseau is an idealist
because of his unrealistically positive view of the natural state of humanity and negative view of
society. Lastly, this paper argues that Machiavelli is idealistic because of the overwhelming,
impossible number of criteria that the Prince... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He proclaims that examining both myself and others is really the very best thing that a man can do,
and that life without this sort of examination is not worth living (Plato 66). Socrates believes that
the government will be able to change so that people who value goodness and truth would be in
power. However, later in the Apology, Socrates contradicts himself when he explains why he has
led a mostly private life, saying that if I had long ago attempted to take part in politics, I should
have died long ago (Plato 58). Socrates believes a man who really fights for justice must lead a
private, not a public, life (Plato 59). This goes against what he has been saying for the rest of the
trial and demonstrates the unrealistic quality of the high standards to which he holds the
government and leaders. If Socrates says it is dangerous for proponents of justice to live a
public life, it becomes extremely difficult for politicians to be virtuous and morally good, since
politicians live essentially their whole lives in the public sphere. It is not realistic for Socrates to
believe that the government of Athens could progress so that good people hold the power, when
he has shown that in his own experience and observations it is not safe for good people to hold
public positions.
Another contradiction that emphasizes the dissonance between Socrates ideas and

My Scariest Experience With Teenagers
Teenagers like to make their own decisions rather than their parents making their decisions for
them. At a certain age they think their parents opinions do not matter. Last summer when I had
my scariest experience, I learned to listen to my parents opinions and to not be rebellious. I lived
in Moulton Branch, a peaceful, quiet neighborhood where all one would hear were the birds
singing in the day and crickets chirping at night. I lived in the neighborhood for about four
years before we had moved. The house beside us was vacant for about two and a half years until
my friend moved in. I had known her since I was a minor. Her moving next to us was a big
surprise. We would go to each other s house every day and gossip about the previous school year
and how we were excited about the next year. My mom thought she was a bad influence on me
and did not want me hanging with her. Of course I thought it was nothing bad about her, except
she did not dress according to her age. I continued hanging out with her because she was the only
person I knew in the neighborhood and staying in the house all day was boring. Being rebellious
and disobedient can lead to something dangerous. One day after my mom had left for work I
went next door to my friend s house. Her house was like my house. It was clean and had a
freshening scent so I felt comfortable like I was at home. Her mom was also like another motherto
me. She asked if I wanted to have a movie night where we would watch movies and

Critical Analysis Of The World Of Cooking By Boeuf...
This essay will first provide an analysis of a text, World of Cooking Boeuf Borgingnonne (see
suplementary materials) by focusing on the the theory and methods of the Russian Formalists. I
will then provide a brief critical discussion of the analysis and theory used.
To begin analysis I will look first at the device of linguistic sound The Formalists started out by
seeing the literary work as a more or less arbitrary assemblage of devices ... Devices included
sound, imagery , rhythm, syntax, meter, rhyme, narrative techniques, in fact the whole stock of
formal literary elements. (Khosravishakib 12). Therefor a criticism of device in the text is one of
the most important features of my analysis. The literary and poetic devices that are ... Show more

If my text, a recipe, a text of instruction not intended to be read for literariness can be examined,
in such fashion as Tolstoy, Gogol or Sterne, albeit loosely or satirically, then what use is the
method of formalism for the texts for which it was concieved? Due to my choice of text I have
proven that Formalism for the must part is a greatly unsatisfactory method of analysis of
literariness. Literature cannot, as I have demonstrated in my analysis be defined purely on the the
technical effects within in it. That is not to say that literature should not demonstrate or my
accessed on technicalities. The poet or writer or playwright should engage in art as a technique
while also demonstrating that technique must be a tool for the representation of ideas, philosophy,
emotion within a context or framework extrinsic to the text. Texts of any sort need a context in
order to be understood, I found great irony in the opening lines of Nicholas Warner s essay In
Search of Literary Science the Russian Formalist Tradition, In order to appreciate the astonishing
sophistication of Russian Formalist theory, and, indeed, even to understand what the Russian
Formalists were about, we first need to understand the critical context in which Russian Formalism
developed (70). This is a non literary text (though in theory one could debate otherwise) that much
is granted, but the fact remains that context is not a factor in needed in understanding the text in
terms of literariness for the Russian Formalists. I have noted through much of the essays on
Formalism that perception, which is a thread of understanding, is a key factor. In this case a
critical context should be taken into account in all texts in order to provide a means of

Not Always A Bad Thing Essay
Strangely enough when Jean died he didn t feel any pain. He didn t feel scared, or try to fight it.
He felt calm, ready. He felt it was just his time to go. His friends were screaming, and frantically
trying to save him.
A Titan had grabbed him after his Three Dimensional Movement Gear had malfunctioned and the
belt snapped. He had managed to grab a replacement set and fight off several Titans, but he was just
outmatched.
Jean remembered the Titan picking him up in one massive hand and crushing him. It broke his back
and punctured both lungs before cutting him in half with disgusting and jagged teeth.
After that, nothing.

Th Thomas? He asked in disbelief.
The young man staring at Jean was Thomas Annigan, one of the people who had been training
with hopes of someday joining the Survey Corps. He was killed when the Titans breached wall
Rose. Jean reached out a shaky hand and placed it on Thomas shoulder. He was shocked to find
that it was sturdy, and felt real.
But... You re... Dead.
Thomas frowned and pulled Jean for a hug. Jean froze at the sudden awkward contact. When
Thomas was done hugging him, Jean gestured around the room.
Where are we? What is this place?
Thomas smiled.
It s my house. I ve always wanted one just like this. Surrounded by trees, and there s even a river
nearby.
Jean slowly sat on a nearby chair.
But Thomas... You re dead...
Thomas sat in a chair adjacent to Jean and smiled reassuringly.
What s the last thing you remember?
Jean frowned and looked down.
I remember... Titans... They had broken wall Rose again... And I...
Jean clapped a hand over his mouth to stifle a sudden scream.
Oh God... No..!
Thomas patted his shoulder reassuringly.
It s okay Jean. You re in a better place now.
Jean began to quake in anger and sadness.
Better place..? We re dead... How can you be okay with that?
At first I was scared... And so alone. But then some of the others found me and explained what
happened and I felt better. We re all together now, and we re happy.
Jean looked up.
Others? There s more people here?
Thomas nodded.

Differences Of Abrahamic Religions
Throughout the duration of human history, one question has been omnipresent in the minds of
philosophers and common folk alike: Does god exist? While dozens of religions have been
established with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic
religions stand out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the
fundamentals of the Abrahamic religionsare inherently different, they all share similar ideology on
the afterlife. Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a
means to achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these
religions also host an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the
Old and New Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary
restrictions. One of the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic
religions is the belief in an afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary,
Islam, Christianity, and Judaismall emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to
ascend to a variation of heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. In these regions
worshippers are promised post mortal nirvana after death in exchange for their servitude in life.
Conversely, in Christianity and Islam, if a follower veers from the righteous path they are likely to
wind up in hell. Hell being of course, the

I perceive the best course of action to implements an effective brand image is to have a major
Influencer market the newly developed product in the integrated marketing communications
mix. Since there is a higher rate of social media users, our Influencers will be utilized best here,
and on commercials. Mobile Makreting Inc. is lesser known these days and needs a fresh face
to bring them back to life. There are three Influencers I have in mind as our branding image. The
three Influencers are Brad Pitt, Sandra Bulock, and Emma Watson, or a combination of all three. I
choose these three for specific reasons. For example, they are all three well know around the
world and have a large following. Sandra Bullocks father is from Iraq and could make for better
ties to the Middle East, and Emma Watson is English so the better ties could be in that region using
her. The decision is yours.

Happiness In Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald explores the definitions of happiness. Throughout the novel,
Fitzgerald reveals multitudes of scenarios that describe and define happiness in its purest form.
Happiness is revealed as something temporary and difficult to maintain. Furthermore the reader sees
the conflicts that arise between Tom and Gatsby and their love and happinesstowards life and
Daisy. Because of this, Tom and Gatsby play the largest role in describing what happiness is in
the novel. Even further, as their characters evolve, the reader is able to understand how happiness
evolves as well. Through the tragedy in Tom s affair, Tom s craving for drama, and Gatsby s
strong desire for Daisy, it is clear that Fitzgerald wishes to reveal the temporary... Show more

Gatsby represents the clash of love and happiness. Moreover, his persistence and confusion led
him to a false idea of himself. More importantly, Gatsby s trouble with love reveals something
significant about happiness temporary nature. Following Gatsby s dance with Daisy, Gatsby
expresses his distance from her. Nick then proclaims, You can t repeat the past (110). What Nick
is alluding too is Gatsby s prolonging for the same happiness he experienced back when he first
met Daisy. Nick does not believe that happiness exists anymore in the present. This idea is
similarly expressed when Nick says, He talked a lot about the past, and I gathered that he wanted
to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had
been confused and disordered since then, but if he could return to a certain starting place and go
over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was (110). Nick describes the idea of
happiness that Gatsby formed with Daisy. Ever since he lost Daisy to the war, Gatsby never
recovered that idea. Because of this, Gatsby finds himself lost and confused. Fitzgerald is
explaining that happiness has the tendency to be temporary and unrecoverable. Fitzgerald s take on
happiness reveals it as momentary. Using the hardships of Tom and Gatsby, Fitzgerald was able to
describe happiness in a more cutthroat fashion that takes on the reality of life into account.

Examples Of Negotiation In Negotiation
INTRODUCTION Negotiation is something that everyone is familiar with and we all do every
day. Negotiation is an art or a way in which two or more than two parties reach a mutually
benefitted agreement; thereby there is win win situation for both the parties involved. This skill
is very important for everyone, even if you own a small business; this is a necessary skill as
many business deals require negotiation. The golden rule for successful negotiation is to be fair
and square with everyone. An aggressive behavior will not give you a fair deal and you may end
up losing your customer/partner. Being a good negotiator helps you to reach agreements, achieve
objectives, get along better with people, and ultimately be more productive and successful.... Show

Individuals decide what they want, then each side takes up an extreme position, such as asking
the other side for much more than they expect to get. A typical example of negotiation over the
price of a car: What do you want for it? I couldn t let it go for under ВЈ2,000. I ll give you ВЈ1,000.
You must be joking. Well, ВЈ1,100 and that s my limit. ВЈ1,900 ... ВЈ1,300 ... ВЈ1,700 ... ВЈ1,500
... Done! While this form of bargaining may be acceptable in the used car market, and even
expected in some cultures, for most situations it has drawbacks. These drawbacks can have
serious consequences if applied to social situations. THE WIN WIN APPROACH TO
NEGOTIATION Many professional negotiators prefer to aim towards what is known as a Win
Win solution. This involves looking for resolutions that allow both sides to gain. In other words,
negotiators aim to work together towards finding a solution to their differences that result in both
sides being satisfied. Key points when aiming for a Win Win outcome include: Focus on
maintaining the relationship Focus on interests not positions. Generate a variety of options.
Aim for result to be based on a objective

the issues they address. In particular Francis Alys, George Shaw and Social Realism.
I first realised my interest in manual labour, menial jobs and cycle of working, when I was

From taking the outsider role he was able to see situations differently than if he was part of
them. I feel the same within my practice; I am a keen observer of people and always find my

Alys uses his role of observer to his advantage. He can see the lack of repair and action after the
1985 Mexico City earthquake. He reacts to by placing pillows within the broken windows. He is
able to use such a simple thing that becomes such a strong and political statement.
In the world today we are subjected to roles and expectations, we are all expected to mature and
earn a living, when this doesn t happen it is frowned upon. For example not having a career or a
consistent income is thought to be out of the ordinary almost not conforming lesser you as a

where it is easy for the audience to appreciate what is being said. Paradox of Praxis 1 (Sometimes

Out-Of-Hospital Research Paper
The practice of out of hospital emergency medical care has changed considerably over the last 120
years [1]. Started in the early 1900s, ambulance services in the Commonwealth countries were
originally small teams of volunteers trained by charitable organisations such as St John Ambulance
who mostly responded to and provide transportation for work traumatic and environmental injuries
caused by increasing industrialisation [2]. In the majority of countries all over the world especially
in the western countries nowadays, emergency medical systems have evolved into an organized
healthsystem that provide the very first emergency medical response to members of the community
who are in an acute health crisis [3]. Resulted from this organisational model of pre hospital
emergency medical care are different paramedical roles in clinical practice requiring different
educations and trainings as well as experience and competency of the clinical skills. One of the
most highly skilled paramedical roles in this organisation of emergency medical services, intensive

Racial And Ethnic Group Interactions
Racial and ethnic group interactions occur daily in the world; in Miami, however one can learn
from the interactions between different ethnic and racial groups in a workplace setting. Mr.
Elman adapted his management style of his apparel factory to the needs of his immigrant
workers; his style helped reduce ethnic friction and returned his investment in high production
levels and loyalty (Stepick, 92). Mr. Elman was successful in getting his employees to willingly
agree to pay a cut, which exemplifies how much clout Mr. Elman had amongst his workers
(Stepick, 93). The previous success that the factory had under his management would likely not
be found again under the American management style, partly because the workers were used to
Mr. Elman. Also after more Haitian workers were hired, the Miami Cubans seemed to create a
notion of seniority when decisions had to be made, but instead of the senior member not working
they would opt to work, leaving the new Haitian workers without work (Stepick, 103). Mr. Elman
eventually sold his apparel factory and new more American managers moved in, these managerial
practices took away the things that lead to a positive work environment and high productivity:
personal fans, individual radios, and hot plates (Stepick, 93). The new American managers admitted
their defeat, at least they learned to adapt to a more Latino based workforce as per one of the plant
managers (Stepick, 94). While I understand the new American management style,

How Did The Theater Influence Ancient Greek Theatre
Athenian Theater Think of the most memorable and classic television shows, for example, Friends
or Full House. These shows were so important in so many people s lives and even became
something they look up too. The theater in ancient Greece played this same role. Everyone attended
the plays that were performed. The theater had many important aspects including the set up, the
audience, and the actors. These shaped the way these immaculate plays were executed.
The theater was always set up using a very specific format. The plays that were performed,
usually only during late Winter and early Spring, always took place in an open air theater that was
built into the side of a hill. These theaters could seat up to 15,000 people, ( A Trip to the Theatre).

Charles And Medgar Evers Summary
From the colonial era in America to present day, there has always been black resistance whether it
s just by revolting by not doing work or armed self defense.
Cobb illustrates that armed self defense as a form of black resistance. Cobb talks about a
personal experience of his in which he refers to how the Mayor of Ruleville, Mississippi actually
held Cobb and two of his friends at gunpoint, barking, You African Americans get into the car!
(23). And when asked why, Dorrough yelled, Because this pistol says to! (23). This part of the
book shows that even though that his friends and Cobb were just being non violent, they almost got
killed by the Ruleville s mayor.
Cobb shows that one of the earliest restrictions placed upon peoples of African descent came in
the form of laws that made it illegal for any black person, free or enslaved, to own a gun. And he
reminds us that fears of slave insurrections remained a constant feature of slavery. Cobb considers
the Civil War a watershed moment because it provided African Americansoldiers with the
opportunity to fight courageously and use guns to wound and kill ... Show more content on

South led to major acts of resistance, such as attempting registering to vote, and these actions

Essay on Graduation Speech
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, faculty, staff, graduates of the Class of
2012, families and friends.
I tried to think of something profound to say today, but it may be too presumptuous to assume that
my short life experience is enough to impart any great wisdom. However, I will at least share with
you something that I have learned. As a brief disclaimer: individual results may vary; drowsiness
and/or dizziness are the most common side effects. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist.
Wisdom is something of an enigma that cannot be achieved by the pursuit of knowledge alone. It
comes from the lessons of trial and error coupled with determination, persistence and commitment.
This idea can best be illustrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The future decisions we make will be decided by the lessons of trial and error, advice and actions
of our mentors and by the foundation that we stand on. I began my college career on three
principles that I think apply to all of us. First is faith. For many of us it took a leap of faith to
undertake the daunting task of completing or furthering our education. Those who have families,
jobs or a myriad other circumstances took on the challenge undeterred and met it head on despite
the unknown. Second is hope, the hope that we might make our families proud and that we would
succeed and live up to our greatest potential.
Third and last, and the greatest of these is love. The love of our families and friends, the freedom
that we have to learn about what we are most passionate about and the love of what we do.
Being college graduates, I m sure there is also a special place in all of our hearts for the love of
cheap pizza and large amounts of caffeine, without which we might surely have perished.
School has been fun, and often it has not been easy because it has been a pursuit of knowledge
that one day is sure to become wisdom. We have been challenged academically, physically and
financially. Three years ago we committed ourselves to forfeiture of our summer vacations, spring
breaks, sleep and sometimes our sanity, to immerse ourselves in a year round,

Invitation To A Journey Summary
Invitation to a Journey: A Roadmap for Spiritual Formation is dedicated to spiritual formation.
This can be seen by how it integrates spiritual practice with God s word and with the goal of
guiding the reader toward transformation in the image of Christ. Mulholland doesn t simply cover
the traditionally recognized disciplines, but instead exposes the reader to many aspects of
formation rarely discussed in detail like how our formation involves and impacts others and how
personality structures affect formation. He does talk about the classic four stage pilgrimage of
awakening, purgation, illumination, and union but keeps from making them the main focus. The
book is broken into four sections, The Road Map, The Vehicle, The Journey, and Companions

This process reveals our cross, or area where we must die and be raised into the newness of
Christ s image. To do so requires the step of consecration where we must recognize our cross
point and accept the transforming work of Christ. These two steps begin the process of being
transformed into Christ s image, which is the essence of our forming journey and a vital part of
the definition of spiritual formation. Mulholland then gives extended attention to how our
spiritual formation affects those around us. We are conformed to Christ s image for the sole
purpose of being in a relationship with both God and with others. The example given in support,
is Christ and in his sacrifice, which was for all; he died totally and completely for all and such is
our call in the transforming process of spiritual formation. This concept I thought was the easiest
part of the book because it was the most obvious until I examined my heart. Right now I cannot
say that I would be willing to die for anyone because I still value my life more than some people.
He presented the dying for others as if it was not only simply easy but as if it was the easiest thing
but I am finding dying to myself to be the hardest concept.Maybe it is my

Cedar Fair Six Flags
Executive Analysis The three parks looking at being invested in are Six Flags, Sea World and
Cedar Fair. Six Flags has the highest net income (see chart) with Cedar fair with the second
highest and sea world in last. This isn t bad for any of the companies, but when looking at the
return on sales, again Six Flags is first, with Cedar Fair in second and Sea world with half of
what the other two have. The story is the same for current ratio and stockholder s equity.
However, return on equity the number one and two spot switches with Cedar Fair in first, Six

difference between the number one and two spot. Debt to equity ratio showed Cedar fair with the

The Outsiders Movie And Movie Differences
There are so many life changing events in this story such as the drive in. Murder. Church Fire.
all this happens yet these kids are still heros! In this movie and book there are two sides of kids,
the Greasers, and Socs. These two groups have fights between each other but if you compare

different and also a little bit the same. In the Outsiders there are many differences and

through the book, the movie, and both. In the book The Outsiders S.E. Hinton decided to

During 1952, Markowitz came out with a theory based on diversified investment is able to
construct the risk averse investors. He diversified investment portfolio theory and efficiency of the

March On Washington
What started out to be just a march turned into a speech and then a sermon. March on Washington
was for jobs and freedom on August 28, 1963. The title tells us that Dr. Martin Luther King wanted
an end to racism in the United States and for civil and economic rights to all men including African
Americans. There were many organizations that supported the March on Washington.
Organizations like the Big Six , the CORE (Congress of Racial Equality), the SCLC (Southern
Christian Leadership Conference), the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee,
Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People and the National Urban League. I think because all these people were involved that this
march meant a lot to the people. Something many people may not know if they have not done their
research on the speech was that near the end of the speech, famous African Americangospel singer
Mahalia Jackson shouted to Dr. King from the crowd, Tell them about the dream, Martin. Dr. King
stopped delivering his prepared speech and started preaching , punctuating his points with I have a

Canada s economy is one that exhibits a multitude of characteristics that adhere to the capitalist and
socialist constructs of a mixed system. In order to clearly define and analyze the current economic
system of the country, one would have to establish a relationship between its economy as well as
the ideas, theories, and models of prominent economists from the past. Both Adam Smith and Karl
Marx conceptualized contrasting schools of thought regarding the methods in which an economy
should be run Smith emphasized the independence of businesses whereas Marx strived to eliminate
class conflict. However, the principles of Marxism certainly satisfy the criteria of Canada s
economy through its regulations, public sector, and market intervention. This widespread
manifestation of Marxism within the Canadian economy accurately represents the country s
economic position.
Market regulation is a microcosm of normative economics, both in value and judgement. The
primary purpose in a regulated market is ensuring fair services to customers and labourers. This
lays parallel to Marx s criticism of capitalist businessmen and their lack of enforcement, which
starkly contrasts

In July 1946, Tata Airlines was nationalized and was taken over by the Indian Government. It

enjoyed a monopoly as the domestic air carrier till the Indian economy was liberalized in 1991.
With the entry of private airlines, IAL s monopoly began to decline.
With both these flagship air carriers (AIL IAL) performing poorly, the idea of a merger between
the two began to gain ground. Praful Patel submitted the merger plan to the Union Cabinet in
March 2006 for approval. The Government of India ordered Accenture Inc. to formulate a road

Ozymandias Figurative Language Essay
Poetry of any era furthers our understanding of the current world. This is because many of the
issues we once faced, we still face today. In this short essay I will compare and contrast figurative
language in two poems. The first of which will be Ozymandias by Percy Shelley written in 1818;
and the second of which, will be Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats written a year later in 1819.
Ode to a Nightingale explores the themes of mortality and impermanence. In Shelley s work,
Ozymandias examines the themes of power and mortality. The first thing I have noticed is that both
have a strong focus ancient civilizations and a distinct focal point on the ancient Greeks and
Romans.
In Greek myth, a young woman named Philomela, whose tongue was cut out by her rapist to

He alludes to the Lethe, the Greek underworld river of immortality in his first stanza. I believe
the speaker says this because he believes the wine speaks about has mystical powers that will
allow him to live forever. He does not mean this literally of course, but instead it will bring him
into the care free state of the nightingale. Through its imagery, the speakers want (need?) is
conveyed for a drug/drink induced state. It seems as though the speaker wants this so that he can
feel some sort of connection with the Nightingale and nature. The speaker s mood changes and in
the fourth stanza he does not want to turn back to drinking and instead wants to fly on the, wings of
poesy (33). Meaning that he has found his salvation in poetry rather than drink. The speaker s
awareness of the real world pulls him back from his fantasy world of drink joy. He understands that
he cannot become the nightingale as the human world is not withdrawable and mortality is
inescapable. At the same time the poem Ozymandias also uses imagery to convey its

The term subordination is used frequently in the context of Trinitarian discussion, and has a
clearly defined usage. Theologians of the past have spoken in some sense of the subordination of
the Son and the Spirit within the boundaries of orthodoxy. However, how do we define it when it
comes to women and the church? The story of Adam and Eve is a great place to start. It brings with
it all of the elements of love, respect, partnership, and subordination all rolled together. When I first

Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches.
While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the
huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical
scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about
the viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in
the women s lives.
Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in
a rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover
evidence for the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal
place for women (Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a
historical subject which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while
Churches are still debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which
laywomen can participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away
from this.
One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a
neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus
are shaped by their presuppositions. Ecclesiastical historians, influenced by their

Hawthorne uses symbolism to teach a lesson in his short story, The Minister s Black Veil .
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, short story, The Minister s Black Veil uses the the black veil as a
symbol of secret sins. Know, then, this veil is a type and a symbol, and I am bound to it ever,
both in light and darkness.... This proves that the author uses symbolism to teach a lesson
because, Mr. Hooper is aware of his own sins so he uses the black veil as a symbol to keep his sins
hidden. Hawthorne also uses the veil as a representation of the instinctive sinful

Evaluation Essay On Corvettes
Abstract
This paper is an evaluative look at why the Chevrolet Corvette is one of the greatest sports cars
in the world. Sports cars can be judged in three areas; cost, performance, and comfort, each area
will be evaluated as to why these criteria are important, with examples shown to for definition. The
Corvette will be shown how it compares in regards to the measurements, and in some cases
exceeds them. Showing why it should be considered a great sports car
The Chevrolet Corvette: A great sports car
The Chevrolet Corvette has been regarded as the best all around sports car by many, while it is not

Stopping, just as important as acceleration the ability to slow or stop quickly and safely are
important traits of performance, this can be indicated by braking distance from a certain speed,
where a shorter stopping distance is more desirable measure of performance. The Corvettes
performance shows that it fits the great sports car mold. Speed, power and the ability to hug the
road, are all part of the experience of driving a truly great sports car. The Corvette delivers in all
these areas, it has a 0 60 MPH time of less than 5 seconds, and a time of slightly less than 14
seconds in the quarter mile. In the 525 foot slalom test an average speed of 47.9 mph was
obtained. On the skid pad the Corvette is able to obtain 0.96 lateral g s (Stewart, 2007). The
Corvette s stopping power is noted in its ability to come to a complete stop from 60 miles per
hour in only 125 feet (Mueller, 1998). These performance measures may not be used in everyday
driving, but the ability to stop quickly in an emergency situation is apparent, as is having enough
acceleration to merge onto a busy highway, with the performance the Corvette has, these everyday
tasks can be accomplished effortlessly and safely.
Comfort, when most people think of older sports cars, comfort is not one of the things that come to
mind. Small, no top, hard to steer, loud, these are the things that older cars such as the first
generation Corvettes, the Porsche 550 Spyder, known as the car

Route 66 History
Winding through Illinois, from Chicago to East St. Louis, is historic Route 66. The highway
was founded in 1926, following the ideas of Cyrus Avery and John Woodruff. Both believed
Route 66 would bring prosperity to the nation, along with Cyrus Avery s need for an easier way
to distribute oil for his company. The highway prospered, along with those who lived along it.
When The National Highway Act of 1956 passed, Route 66 began to steadily decline before finally
being decommissioned in 1985. Even after its end, Route 66 continues to provide a look into the
past as America s Main Street. Route 66 has stimulated economic growth in Illinois throughout its
lifetime.

The Great Gatsby Argumentative Quotes
422726 Prompt 4 Comments The Hunt The human race can never be fully satisfied. There are
goals everyone tries to accomplish, hopes they want to achieve, and dreams they want to fulfill.
Almost all Americans want The American Dream of building up their own wealth, having the
highest social status, and lastly having a picture perfect family. Throughout the novel, The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, he reveals the truth behind the American dream: it is possible to
build up an empire of wealth, however, Americans can never get to the highest social class unless
born into it, nor can they ever have the ideal, perfect family. James Gatz through hard work and

Gatsby will never truly be as exclusive as the other high class members due to the fact he, along
with the other self made millionaires, are considered newly rich people [who] are just big
bootleggers (107). East Egg is home to the prestigious residents of old money including Tom and
Daisy. West Egg just across the bay is the less fashionable of the two, though this is a most
superficial tag to express the bizarre and not a little sinister contrast between them, which is
home to Nick and Gatsby (5). A distinction between the classes is their source of transportation.
The people of West Egg drive the modern, luxury cars, Gatsby himself included, who drives a
rich cream color, bright with nickel car (64), while the people of East Egg still believe horses
are the best ways for transportation. Old money folk believe horses are the more prestigious
way to travel; Tom being from East Egg has a string of polo ponies from Lake forest (6) giving
him a sense of superiority. Gatsby [hasn t] got a horse (103) since he recently came into his
money, and is more into the modern luxuries the rich have to offer such as cars. The people of
East Egg look down on West Egg residents because in their eyes they are not as good as
themselves. The separation between the two classes cause the American Dream of being a
member of the highest social class to be unreachable for anyone including Gatsby. Not only can
Gatsby not reach the American Dream of being the highest social class, he will also never achieve

Erin Tam Monologue

to her, a good friend is someone who will try to understand you when you re telling them things,

Septic Tank Friendly Toilet Paper
2 Household Items That Will Put Less Stress On A Septic Tank For homeowners that have a
septic tank, it is important that you do not overburden the tank with things that should not go
through your home s plumbing. You may not realize it, but it s even possible for certain
dishwasher detergents to have a harmful effect if you are not carful. If you want your home s
septic tank to last a long time, use these two products. Septic Tank Friendly Toilet Paper While
you can be diligent about the amount of toilet paper that you use, you cannot monitor the toilet
paper usage of others in your home. If you have people in your home that go a little overboard
with their toilet paper usage, consider switching to a toilet paper that is designed specifically...

You ll be paying a slight premium for the toilet paper, but it will be worth it in the end. You ll
find yourself needing to pump your septic tank less, which could offset the cost of the septic

for septic tank pumping. It will need to be done eventually. Liquid Dishwashing Detergent
Dishwashing detergent pods are becoming more popular with homeowners because of how easy
they are to use. They have the exact amount of detergent measured for your dishes, and they don
t make a mess when putting them in. Unfortunately, the plastic pods don t dissolve completely,
and only turn into crumbs of plastic. A septic tank needs all the waste to be organic in order for
it to break it all down. That s why you should avoid using the plastic pods, and stick to liquid
dishwashing detergent that will go straight down the drain without any plastic left behind. Another
way to assist your septic tank when using a dishwasher is to make sure that it is using very hot
water. The detergent will break down chemically much easier when the water is as hot as it can be.
Cold water will cause the detergent to turn into solid chunks that can get caught in the pipes going

The Social Security Act
Introduction
A.National Scale In the United States, child support is court mandated and requires the non
custodial parent of a minor or minors to make payments to ensure that their child is financially
taken care of. Title IV D of the Social Security Act requires that all States establish a
comprehensive program which works to locate non custodial parents of children receiving welfare
and to obtain child support from any parents located (Saltzman, Furman, and Ohman, 2014). Many
incarcerated offenders are unaware that their child support payments accrue while they are

The Alchemist Santiago Analysis
Not only does Coelho use symbolism and geography to further prove his theme, he uses his
characters to manifest his notion. Santiago is the ideal individual who listens to omens in order to
understand the language of the soul of the world and achieve his personal legend. Santiago is both
a dreamer and seeker that illustrates how an indiviudal should pursure his dreams no matter what.
On the other hand, the characters he encounters represent the opposite and ultimately encourage
him to continue his journey. To demonstrate, Santiago encounters the King of Salem when having
doubts of his personal legend. The King of Salem reveals the story of the baker and how he gave
up his desire to travel in order to have a stable life. As found in The... Show more content on

As illustrated in The Alchemist, At the point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is
possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen
to them in their lives. But as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be
impossible... ( Coelho 24.) Here, the reader can relate, as their parents encouraged them to follow
their dreams when they were younger no matter the extent. But as time passes, the individual comes
to the reality that their dreams are impossible and can not happen. However, not all people give up
on their dreams as the merchant did. Coelho s theme becomes problematic when fear, injury or
expectation interferes with someones personal legend. As fear interefered with the merchants
dreams, what other people thought interfered with the bakers, or the theives interfered with
Santiago s journey, outside influences become problematic in pursuing your dreams. Coelho s
belief also becomes problematic when an individual has to leave behind their loved ones. Coelho
believes no matter who, what, where or when, an individual must not let anything or anyone
interfere with their pursuit as Santiago left behind his family to travel or his love Fatima to travel
to the pyramids. As Trent Shelton states, The right decidions are always the hardest to make. But
they must be made in order to live the life you deserve. Shelton s words completely support Coelho

Difference Between Knowing The Gospel And Being Consumed...
The title of chapter one is called A People Formed. The authors begin to talk about the difference
between knowing the gospel and being consumed by the gospel. They also describe the importance
of understanding the gospel and what the gospel means for the church. It is mentioned that Sin has
fractured the shalom of the universe. (9) God spoke and formed an entire nation , a community of
faith. The gospelcreates a collective people. In chapter two, the authors talk about worship and what
it means to rejoice. They also describe our fleshly tendency to idolatry. They use the story of the
Samaritan woman at the well to depict this. The wrong wells never truly satisfy us, and our worship
suffers when we continue to go back to them. It is said that we would rather worship creation than
the Creator. The authors also talk about our tendency to try to cover up our sin. We are all to often
running from God and simultaneously running towards the things that make the situation worse. In
our ignorance we strip God of his authority and power. Chapter three describes community. We are a
family of believers that unite despite race, nationality, economics, and politics, because Christ unites
us. Out of this divinely constructed community flows God s plan for humans to be in relationship
with one another. The authors mention that a community is only as strong as what it is built upon.
They say that, unity in the gospel is much deeper than surface uniformity (45). In Chapter

Joseph Turner Slave Ship Essay
My Initial Reaction to the Work
Out of the choices I had to pick from for my analysis. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph
Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic,
but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the
colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle
portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of
pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of
the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in
the bow to be propelled upward.
The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains
raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves
on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the
bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. I
also see something that s hard for me to make out, but I think it may be an emergency boat partially
emerged from the waters. Lastly, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Andrew Carnegie Industrial Capitalism Outline
Denise Liu History 17B Mary Ignoffo Writing Assignment Industrial Capitalism I. Introductory
Nineteenth century was the golden time of the United States, author Mark Twain named this
period of time: Gilded Age. There was a fast quick way to get rich, which could be told from the
success of Andrew Carnegie, who owned the empire of steel, and John D. Rockefeller, who was
the king of his oil kingdom, but also made many people suffer from their wealth, and some of
them faced bankrupt because of the promising lure. The power boom of industrialists made the
rich happy, and made the poor sad. The Supreme Court stood with the rich, but apparently some

  • 2. Examination Of Past And Present Ethical Guidelines On... Eilidh Cowan Ethics of Biomedical Science Research Ioan Alexandru Beldean Examination of past and present ethical guidelines on biomedical research Ethics can be defined as a set of moral values informing one s decisions. But this set of moral values can be influenced by many different things, such as various cultures, religions, and even technological advancements. This is called moral relativism, the idea that there are no real truths in ethics and what is right or wrong varies person by person. That is why before there was any codes or set of rules regarding what was ethical put in place, people were able to get away with doing all sorts of scientific research, that would now be deemed unethical. Biomedical research is to be done to eventually better the health of humans. Biomedical research has been going on for many years, it is how we have knowledge of many deadly diseases as well as the discovery of vaccines and antibiotics! These things seem so common today, but infact went through lots of stages of research to get to the technologies we have today. However, before 1947, there were no codes of ethics or regulations to ensure that research being done was ethical. The smallpox vaccination, although the first successful vaccine to ever be developed, would be considered highly unethical today. Edward Jenner experimented on a healthy young 8 year old boy without consent. In today s society, this study would never have been allowed to continue. There are many other ... Current Capability Set Fielding Field Current capability set fielding along with future fielding s including Bradley engineering change proposal (ECP), Armored Multi Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD), and full rate production (FRP) radio variants are the Army s answer to brigade combat team modernization. The tactical environment is the tip of the spear, a challenging space where effectiveness, survivability, and sustainability provide the keys to success. That success is becoming increasingly reliant on data. Data drives our missions, from operations, intelligence, and fires, to other areas such as medical and logistics. Consumption of data is being fueled by the introduction of new communication systems. Warfighter information tactical (WIN T) has begun to bring this data down to the Brigade and Battalion level with the Point of Presence (POP), and the Battalion and Company level with the Soldier Network Extension (SNE). New radio waveforms are providing conduits for data down to the tactical edge. WIN T and Handheld, Manpack, and Small Form Fit (HMS) radios are being integrated into Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) vehicle platforms now. The Mid Tier Networking Vehicular Radio (MNVR) is just around the corner in FY17. The tactical infrastructure is leveraging these new communications capabilities to move data throughout all levels of the mission space. The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications protocol being used to move data throughout the Army s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The title of Washington D.C. will be terminated as well and instead the state will be appointed with the official title of New Columbia. Section 2 2. New Columbia is to be bestowed with proper representation in the legislative branch relative to the states current population. An amendment that would grant the District of Columbia statehood is absolutely necessary and should be ratified as soon as the amendment process would allow. The amendment is a necessity because it will address a multitude of problems that affect citizens of Washington D.C. due to its unique legal status as a district. The three most prominent issues that citizens of Washington feel need to be resolved are financial planning in the district, representation in Congress, and lawmaking. Before one can fully back and support the movement for this amendment, they must first observe the characteristics of Washington D.C. that make it a viable candidate for statehood. The first impressive statistic regarding Washington D.C. is its population size; in 2016 the district had a population of 681,170 people. This large amount of residents would make Washington D.C. eligible for representation in the House of Representatives, which is an impressive feat. Washington D.C. has also managed to amass a booming economy in addition to its large population. In 2011 the District of Columbia possessed an unemployment rate of 5.9%, a percentage that was 3.1 points lower than the national average of 9% (ncsl.org). Another impressive statistic from 2011 was the fact that Washington D.C. accounted for 6% of the United State s overall job despite the fact that at the time it only contributed for about 2% of the country s overall ... Life Cycle Assessment University of Windsor Life cycle analysis (LCA) compares the environmental effects of products and services by quantifying all inputs and outputs of material flows and assessing how each material flow affects the environment ( Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Overview . sftool.gov. 8 Aug 2015.). Life cycle is not only the purchase or use the product but also its assessment of raw material production, manufacturing, use and disposal of the product including all of the transportation between each step. The final bits that were talked about in the paper were the NOx that was released during distribution, the water consumption during pulp processing, CH4 from landfill emissions and the deforestation impacting the environment. • 6. Socrates, Machiavelli, And Rousseau s Views On Political... Socrates, Machiavelli, and Rousseau are three philosophers discussing political ethics from entirely different perspectives. This paper argues that Socrates, Machiavelli, and Rousseau are all idealists regarding their stances on political ethics. First, this paper argues that Socrates is an idealist due his belief that the current government has much more potential than it is currently reaching, and that the government could eventually be changed. Second, this paper argues that Rousseau is an idealist because of his unrealistically positive view of the natural state of humanity and negative view of society. Lastly, this paper argues that Machiavelli is idealistic because of the overwhelming, impossible number of criteria that the Prince... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He proclaims that examining both myself and others is really the very best thing that a man can do, and that life without this sort of examination is not worth living (Plato 66). Socrates believes that the government will be able to change so that people who value goodness and truth would be in power. However, later in the Apology, Socrates contradicts himself when he explains why he has led a mostly private life, saying that if I had long ago attempted to take part in politics, I should have died long ago (Plato 58). Socrates believes a man who really fights for justice must lead a private, not a public, life (Plato 59). This goes against what he has been saying for the rest of the trial and demonstrates the unrealistic quality of the high standards to which he holds the government and leaders. If Socrates says it is dangerous for proponents of justice to live a public life, it becomes extremely difficult for politicians to be virtuous and morally good, since politicians live essentially their whole lives in the public sphere. It is not realistic for Socrates to believe that the government of Athens could progress so that good people hold the power, when he has shown that in his own experience and observations it is not safe for good people to hold public positions. Another contradiction that emphasizes the dissonance between Socrates ideas and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Scariest Experience With Teenagers Teenagers like to make their own decisions rather than their parents making their decisions for them. At a certain age they think their parents opinions do not matter. Last summer when I had my scariest experience, I learned to listen to my parents opinions and to not be rebellious. I lived in Moulton Branch, a peaceful, quiet neighborhood where all one would hear were the birds singing in the day and crickets chirping at night. I lived in the neighborhood for about four years before we had moved. The house beside us was vacant for about two and a half years until my friend moved in. I had known her since I was a minor. Her moving next to us was a big surprise. We would go to each other s house every day and gossip about the previous school year and how we were excited about the next year. My mom thought she was a bad influence on me and did not want me hanging with her. Of course I thought it was nothing bad about her, except she did not dress according to her age. I continued hanging out with her because she was the only person I knew in the neighborhood and staying in the house all day was boring. Being rebellious and disobedient can lead to something dangerous. One day after my mom had left for work I went next door to my friend s house. Her house was like my house. It was clean and had a freshening scent so I felt comfortable like I was at home. Her mom was also like another motherto me. She asked if I wanted to have a movie night where we would watch movies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will first provide an analysis of a text, World of Cooking Boeuf Borgingnonne (see suplementary materials) by focusing on the the theory and methods of the Russian Formalists. I will then provide a brief critical discussion of the analysis and theory used. To begin analysis I will look first at the device of linguistic sound The Formalists started out by seeing the literary work as a more or less arbitrary assemblage of devices ... Devices included sound, imagery , rhythm, syntax, meter, rhyme, narrative techniques, in fact the whole stock of formal literary elements. (Khosravishakib 12). Therefor a criticism of device in the text is one of the most important features of my analysis. The literary and poetic devices that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If my text, a recipe, a text of instruction not intended to be read for literariness can be examined, in such fashion as Tolstoy, Gogol or Sterne, albeit loosely or satirically, then what use is the method of formalism for the texts for which it was concieved? Due to my choice of text I have proven that Formalism for the must part is a greatly unsatisfactory method of analysis of literariness. Literature cannot, as I have demonstrated in my analysis be defined purely on the the technical effects within in it. That is not to say that literature should not demonstrate or my accessed on technicalities. The poet or writer or playwright should engage in art as a technique while also demonstrating that technique must be a tool for the representation of ideas, philosophy, emotion within a context or framework extrinsic to the text. Texts of any sort need a context in order to be understood, I found great irony in the opening lines of Nicholas Warner s essay In Search of Literary Science the Russian Formalist Tradition, In order to appreciate the astonishing sophistication of Russian Formalist theory, and, indeed, even to understand what the Russian Formalists were about, we first need to understand the critical context in which Russian Formalism developed (70). This is a non literary text (though in theory one could debate otherwise) that much is granted, but the fact remains that context is not a factor in needed in understanding the text in terms of literariness for the Russian Formalists. I have noted through much of the essays on Formalism that perception, which is a thread of understanding, is a key factor. In this case a critical context should be taken into account in all texts in order to provide a means of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While dozens of religions have been established with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic religions stand out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the fundamentals of the Abrahamic religionsare inherently different, they all share similar ideology on the afterlife. Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a means to achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these religions also host an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the Old and New Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary restrictions. One of the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic religions is the belief in an afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary, Islam, Christianity, and Judaismall emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to ascend to a variation of heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. In these regions worshippers are promised post mortal nirvana after death in exchange for their servitude in life. Conversely, in Christianity and Islam, if a follower veers from the righteous path they are likely to wind up in hell. Hell being of course, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More importantly, Gatsby s trouble with love reveals something significant about happiness temporary nature. Following Gatsby s dance with Daisy, Gatsby expresses his distance from her. Nick then proclaims, You can t repeat the past (110). What Nick is alluding too is Gatsby s prolonging for the same happiness he experienced back when he first met Daisy. Nick does not believe that happiness exists anymore in the present. This idea is similarly expressed when Nick says, He talked a lot about the past, and I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had been confused and disordered since then, but if he could return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was (110). Nick describes the idea of happiness that Gatsby formed with Daisy. Ever since he lost Daisy to the war, Gatsby never recovered that idea. Because of this, Gatsby finds himself lost and confused. Fitzgerald is explaining that happiness has the tendency to be temporary and unrecoverable. Fitzgerald s take on happiness reveals it as momentary. • 17. Examples Of Negotiation In Negotiation INTRODUCTION Negotiation is something that everyone is familiar with and we all do every day. Negotiation is an art or a way in which two or more than two parties reach a mutually benefitted agreement; thereby there is win win situation for both the parties involved. This skill is very important for everyone, even if you own a small business; this is a necessary skill as many business deals require negotiation. The golden rule for successful negotiation is to be fair and square with everyone. An aggressive behavior will not give you a fair deal and you may end up losing your customer/partner. Being a good negotiator helps you to reach agreements, achieve objectives, get along better with people, and ultimately be more productive and successful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, ВЈ1,100 and that s my limit. ВЈ1,900 ... ВЈ1,300 ... ВЈ1,700 ... ВЈ1,500 ... Done! While this form of bargaining may be acceptable in the used car market, and even expected in some cultures, for most situations it has drawbacks. These drawbacks can have serious consequences if applied to social situations. THE WIN WIN APPROACH TO NEGOTIATION Many professional negotiators prefer to aim towards what is known as a Win Win solution. This involves looking for resolutions that allow both sides to gain. In other words, negotiators aim to work together towards finding a solution to their differences that result in both sides being satisfied. Key points when aiming for a Win Win outcome include: Focus on maintaining the relationship Focus on interests not positions. Generate a variety of options. Aim for result to be based on a objective ... • 21. Racial And Ethnic Group Interactions Racial and ethnic group interactions occur daily in the world; in Miami, however one can learn from the interactions between different ethnic and racial groups in a workplace setting. Mr. Elman adapted his management style of his apparel factory to the needs of his immigrant workers; his style helped reduce ethnic friction and returned his investment in high production levels and loyalty (Stepick, 92). Mr. Elman was successful in getting his employees to willingly agree to pay a cut, which exemplifies how much clout Mr. Elman had amongst his workers (Stepick, 93). The previous success that the factory had under his management would likely not be found again under the American management style, partly because the workers were used to Mr. Elman. Also after more Haitian workers were hired, the Miami Cubans seemed to create a notion of seniority when decisions had to be made, but instead of the senior member not working they would opt to work, leaving the new Haitian workers without work (Stepick, 103). Mr. Elman eventually sold his apparel factory and new more American managers moved in, these managerial practices took away the things that lead to a positive work environment and high productivity: personal fans, individual radios, and hot plates (Stepick, 93). Cobb illustrates that armed self defense as a form of black resistance. This part of the book shows that even though that his friends and Cobb were just being non violent, they almost got killed by the Ruleville s mayor. Cobb shows that one of the earliest restrictions placed upon peoples of African descent came in the form of laws that made it illegal for any black person, free or enslaved, to own a gun. The title tells us that Dr. Martin Luther King wanted an end to racism in the United States and for civil and economic rights to all men including African Americans. There were many organizations that supported the March on Washington. Organizations like the Big Six , the CORE (Congress of Racial Equality), the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Urban League. I think because all these people were involved that this march meant a lot to the people. Karl Marx And Adam Smith Essay Presence of the Theories of Karl Marx Adam Smith Within the Canadian Economy Written by: Jason Kothary, Zach Shafi, Sam Girma Kevin Sallaku Research: Ryan Salehi, Zack Izzeddin, David Moffett, Cameron Bernardo, Harrison Toms, Taha Mahmood, Anthony Alexiou, Jason Kothary, Zach Shafi, Sam Girma Kevin Sallaku Canada s economy is one that exhibits a multitude of characteristics that adhere to the capitalist and socialist constructs of a mixed system. In order to clearly define and analyze the current economic system of the country, one would have to establish a relationship between its economy as well as the ideas, theories, and models of prominent economists from the past. Both Adam Smith and Karl Marx conceptualized contrasting schools of thought regarding the methods in which an economy should be run Smith emphasized the independence of businesses whereas Marx strived to eliminate class conflict. However, the principles of Marxism certainly satisfy the criteria of Canada s economy through its regulations, public sector, and market intervention. This widespread manifestation of Marxism within the Canadian economy accurately represents the country s economic position. Market regulation is a microcosm of normative economics, both in value and judgement. The primary purpose in a regulated market is ensuring fair services to customers and labourers. This lays parallel to Marx s criticism of capitalist businessmen and their lack of enforcement, which starkly contrasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

IAL enjoyed a monopoly as the domestic air carrier till the Indian economy was liberalized in 1991. With the entry of private airlines, IAL s monopoly began to decline. With both these flagship air carriers (AIL IAL) performing poorly, the idea of a merger between the two began to gain ground. In this short essay I will compare and contrast figurative language in two poems. The first of which will be Ozymandias by Percy Shelley written in 1818; and the second of which, will be Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats written a year later in 1819. Ode to a Nightingale explores the themes of mortality and impermanence. In Shelley s work, Ozymandias examines the themes of power and mortality. The first thing I have noticed is that both have a strong focus ancient civilizations and a distinct focal point on the ancient Greeks and Romans. In Greek myth, a young woman named Philomela, whose tongue was cut out by her rapist to prevent her from telling anyone about her molestation; was turned into a ... I believe the speaker says this because he believes the wine speaks about has mystical powers that will allow him to live forever. Through its imagery, the speakers want (need?) is conveyed for a drug/drink induced state. It seems as though the speaker wants this so that he can feel some sort of connection with the Nightingale and nature. The speaker s mood changes and in the fourth stanza he does not want to turn back to drinking and instead wants to fly on the, wings of poesy (33). Meaning that he has found his salvation in poetry rather than drink. The speaker s awareness of the real world pulls him back from his fantasy world of drink joy. He understands that he cannot become the nightingale as the human world is not withdrawable and mortality is inescapable. At the same time the poem Ozymandias also uses imagery to convey its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches. While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about the viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in the women s lives. Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in a rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover evidence for the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal place for women (Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a historical subject which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while Churches are still debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which laywomen can participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away from this. One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus are shaped by their presuppositions. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be propelled upward. The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters.
