NME s provide a higher return, but rarely make it to market compared to LCM products. The
displacement of excess funds can either be invested into further research or be distributed to
employees annually. If reinvested, additional capital could be used to further fund NME s, or to
market LCM s. Evaluating individual projects and devoting special attention to their expected
profitability or fit could produce alternatives as well. General Practitioner (GP), Niche, and
Specialized products also offer additional lines of alternative products for evaluation and
consideration. Information Required Collecting information from R amp;D, Project Teams, Marketing
and Strategic Planning will provide the resources, costs, timing, risks, and opportunities associated
with products and the market and will indicate their weight on overall operations. Additional
information regarding projects probability of success, their ROI, and market life span will help with
prioritizing them, deciding which to undertake, and how to introduce them into the market. Project
specific information needed would be the phase, launch year, probability of success, projected sales,
and pre launch costs that include R amp;D, in order to value each project specifically. Part 2 Project

The Main Problems With The Constitution
Felix Amza Professor Omowale POS1041 Due 06/23/2015 Project Question Nr. III One of the main
problems with the constitution is what some may argue that the role of the president was not very
thought of and linked to the constitution, therefore jeopardizing the nation to a dysfunctional and
dangerous presidency. Throughout the history of American government, there have been a couple
presidencies which have managed to gain high power and disregard the wellbeing of the nation,
behave inappropriately and even unconstitutional. A good example of what some argue to have been a
bad presidency, would be the case of George W. Bush, which on different occasions, he thought it
would be suitable to disapprove of democracy and legal norms, by acting in ways such as; ordering
government representatives to bypass statues and treaties, not allowing congressional oversight and
jump into unwanted actions such as starting the war with Iraq which was not favored in the Congress.
Normally the constitutions contains systems in place that should be able to counterattack such actions
and behaviors, like the famous division of power and checks and balances . As the government of
America is divided into three powers; the executory, judiciary and legislative, the system of checks
and balances gives the three divisions of government the power of checking upon each other and
ability of taking action when there is an unconstitutional act from one s side. The system of checks
and balances may

For Proteins, Form Shapes Function Essay
Proteins are fundamental components of all living cells that participate in some of the most important
biological processes, including cell growth and maintenance, movement and defense. They are
complex molecules that consist of one or more chains of amino acids, have distinct three dimensional
shapes and whose structure and structural dynamics directly influence their specific function.
Most proteins have a primary, secondary and tertiary structure, but some of them, like hemoglobin,
also have a quaternary structure. The primary structure of a protein is represented by the ordered
succession of its amino acids held together by covalent bonds. While in nature amino acids may
possess either the D or L configuration, amino acids within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They also preserve the bond angles and the planar configuration of the peptide bond, as well as keep
atoms from coming together so closely that they repel each other through Van der Waal s interactions.
A protein s tertiary structure, the compact, biologically active and most stable form of the protein,
results from further folding of the amino acid chain. The environment in which a protein is
synthesized and allowed to folded is a significant determinant of its final shape. If the tertiary structure
of a protein is disrupted, the protein is said to be denatured, and it loses its activity. Based on their
tertiary structure, proteins can be classified as globular, fibrous and membrane proteins. Globular
proteins participate in sophisticated processes such as enzyme mediated catalysis, transport of
molecules, signal transduction, defense and regulation.
In order to function properly, these proteins need to be compact, soluble and able to form active sites.
Proteins of the cytosol need a dense enough structure in order to be able to coexist alongside other
components of the cytosol, yet still retain their ability to diffuse freely. In addition to being highly
crowded, the environment of cytosolic proteins is also aqueous, which requires them to be water
soluble, so as to prevent aggregation and sedimentation. Most of the protein functions involve

In Cold Blood by Gerald Clarke
Truman Capote remains a literary great. His works have been adapted into screenplays and mostly
have received critical acclaim. The film Capote was aimed to be biographical in nature and focused
mainly on the years Truman Capote spent writing the novel In Cold Blood . The film Capote was by
directed Bennett Miller after being adapted from a book of the same title, written by Gerald Clarke. It
was set in Kansas and starred Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote and chronicled a six year period in
the life of author Truman Capote whilst he wrote a book entitled In Cold Blood . The novel In Cold
Blood apparently gave rise to a new style of writing as the book offered much from the murders
perspective and introduced a new style of criminal novels.
The film opens and begins in 1959 when Capote reads an article in The New York Times about the
murder of a Kansas farm family. The Clutter family was discovered murdered with no readily
identifiable motive. Truman is already an acclaimed writer, having published books such as the famed
Breakfast at Tiffany s . However, somehow the story appeals to him and manages to convince The
New Yorker magazine to send him to Kansas to write about it. Almost immediately, one is struck by
the magnificent way in which Seymour Huffman has morphed into Truman Capote; his voice
especially is acutely similar to that of Truman Capote s both in tone and accent. Seymour Hoffman
who has a husky baritone noticeably manages to make his voice shrill,

Onna Daigaku Women
Women during the Tokugawa period were expected to be good Confucian wives and were restricted in
many aspects of their life. Although multiple expectations were bent in real life situations. In Onna
Daigaku, Kaibara Ekiken writes on how a woman should and should not act in public. He also writes
several different reasons why a woman should be divorced. This primary source is important in
understanding what was expected out of women during this period and helps us apply it to other
readings. An example of how one can apply the Onna Daigaku to The Doctor s Wife is the way Otsugi
acts repeatedly throughout the book. The Onna Daigaku states The five worst infirmities that afflict
the female are indocility, discontent, slander, jealously, and silliness. One of the bigger issues that
Otsugi has in becoming a good Confucian wife is that she bears a lot of jealousy and discontent with
her daughter in law Kae. At first, Otsugi was pleasant towards Kae and even stated how the two must
have been mother and daughter in a past life; but once Seishu comes back from Kyoto, Otsugi
becomes very critical of Kae and does not allow the daughter in law near her precious son. Also, the
reader gets an underlying sexual vibe from Otsugi towards her son. But whenever Seishu pinched his
wife s thigh to test the anesthetic, feelings of jealously raged within her and, at these moments she
hated Kae sufficiently to wish for her death. At one point of the book, Otsugi gets even more enraged

Falling Down Sequence
The opening sequence in the film Falling Down portrays how everyday activities can take a turn for
the worst. It begins with the main character William Foster stuck in a traffic jam on the highway
caused by construction. The first shot that opens the scene is an extreme close up of Foster s face,
which allows the audience to see him in great detail. We see by his heavy breathing and sweat
dripping down his face that he is in a hot environment. The camera starts to zoom out and go into a
tracking shot, which allows us to see the environment that surrounds him. This is also an establishing
shot. The car directly in front of Foster has a young girl starring out the back window towards him.
There is a school bus two lanes over to his right that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the scene progresses, you see how each event is causing Foster s temper to rise and his patience to
grow thinner. Foster constantly plays with his AC unit, which is broken, reinforcing that the
temperature outside is hot. Another factor adding to his frustration is the fly stuck in his car. It is
buzzing around him and repeatedly landing on his neck causing him to keep swatting at it. The usage
of quick cuts gives the impression of tension building up for the character throughout the scene. This
gives off the impression that something worse is constantly happening to Foster and he is unable to
escape his uncomfortable reality. The AC breaking, window roller broken, kids screaming, cars
honking and the heat wave itself are all shown so quickly so that the viewer is seeing that everything
is being thrown at Foster at once and that he is starting to feel very claustrophobic and cannot seem to
escape it. When everything hits its peak he decides to quickly get out of his vehicle, which serves as
his escape as the music and sounds subside to a normal level and he is now calmer and decides to just
walk home

Lego The way the world plays
An Introduction:
LEGO Lego) is a privately held consumer product company engaged in the manufacture and
distribution of a wide range of toys, video games and online games. A powerful and instantly
recognized global brand has been a key feature of Lego s success.
Lego has worked hard to establish this brand through a number of routes. The group organizes its
business into four main categories: the core business of play materials, family attractions, lifestyle
products, and media. In each of these categories the brand is clearly and consistently applied. ... Show

* Re positioning: Reposition Lego without compromising or diluting the brand promise of quality,
inspiring creative imagination and that only the best will do for its customers. * Extensibility: It needs
to review product diversification Example With an aim to become a lifestyle brand Lego diversified
into clothes, video games and watches. Care needs to be taken not to dilute the brand equity while
increasing product offerings * Improve Distribution: Bionicle was a successful toy but it was criticised
for having poor stocks though the product had a high demand, and the lesser popular toys were
available in stores. Hence a weak distribution network can be proving detrimental in such a
competitive environment.
Question 2:
In 2004, Lego continued its promotional and product tie ups with Harry Potter and Spiderman. This
move is critical since sales and company profits will have to depend on these partnerships and there
may be times when there is no release of the particular blockbuster series movie and this dependency
can prove detrimental if it s the sole business driver. Too many of these tie ups will be viewed as a
block to creativity and then fail to deliver the open ended imaginative play aspect of Lego on which
the brand is

He asked Maricha, master of disguise, to take the form of a golden deer. Maricha who already had an
experience of being punished by Rama refused at first but as he knew that either way he would be
killed so preferred to be killed by Rama and agreed finally.
Maricha transformed into a golden deer and roamed in front of Sita. Sita asked Rama to catch it for
her. Rama asked Lakshmana to look after Sita and went behind the deer. The deer led him deep into
the forest and at last when Rama found it impossible to catch it alive, he killed it with a sharp arrow.
As the arrow struck, Maricha gained his true form and screamed loudly imitating Rama asking for
help to Sita and Lakshmana.
Ravana s planned had worked.
Thinking that some problem had occurred to Rama and upon Sita s request, Lakshmana left Sita alone
in search of Rama.
Before he left, he drew a line across Sita and asked her not to cross till he returned. Ravana watching
from a distance disguised himself as a hermit and approached Sita. Sita bought some food to offer the
holy man standing within the line. Ravana asked her to come out of that line and offer. But before Sita
could realize what she was doing, Ravana caught hold of her hand and took her away in his chariot
towards Lanka. Sita screamed out loudly for help. As he drove, Jatayu, the great eagle, objected

Why Is Corporal Punishment Ineffective
Corporal Punishment Physical harm for actions deemed negative has been a part of human civilization
since the beginning of time. Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another
because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since
psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been
used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal
punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both
sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal
punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of
negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal
punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct
invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body
and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another
thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. Unless, of course, the
individual is hurting another in a way physical violence is the only method of handling the issue. Why
does it not warrant it? If every human decided to physically assault every

The Controversy Of Youth Sports
In the most recent decade, the controversy of youth sports has been a very important discussion for
people in the United States. Sports are a popular pastime for young athletes, and there are
approximately 45 million participants of youth sports in the US. However, just like most things, there
are pros and cons to be considered of these activities.
In an article by John R. Gerdy, he states that the biggest problems with youth sports are the parents
and coaches. At a typical practice, most of the time is dedicated to fundamental skill instructions and
only a small percentage of the practice is actually allowed for the player to have fun playing pick up
games without adult involvement. Allowing kids to be alone for their own practice then they

Reading The World Ideas That Matter Ethos Pathos Logos
In the book Reading the World Ideas that Matter explains how there are three moderns of persuasion
which are; ethos, pathos, and logos. Aristotle states that ethos is more about communicating with your
audience. An ethos speaker would use such as, changing their tone of voice, physical appearance and
comforting an audience. Credibility, authority and reliable describe an ethos point of view. Michael
Austin gives us four ways to create a good ethos in writing; First, establish your credibility, as you
explained to the audience why are you giving them your opinion. Secondly, be generous to others
points of view, avoid disrespecting the audience. Third do not show off, always make sure you point
out the facts that are relevant to the argument. Avoid being overbearing, what Austin meant by that is

Sometimes pathos can be manipulative, but if its use correctly it can help you connect with the reader
and exemplify the emotional piece of a topic. Pathos emphases on emotion, imagination and
sympathy. In the book, Austin gave us a list that can be used as emotional appeals, sympathy, fear,
anger, belonging and pride/vanity. Logos is more about logic and reason, according to Aristotle. Logic
speakers have a reason and evidence behind an argument which makes the argument more persuasive.
In the first video, Drunk History Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks are using ethos, because they are
explaining the facts on what happen, which is creditability. The narrator also is explaining in a way
that a younger generation can understand, which Aristotle states in the book Be generous to other
points of view (664). Drunk History Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks shows ethos because she talks
about N.A.A.C.P and the issues that occur with Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin, on how they both
got along. On Drunk History John Adams vs Thomas Jefferson video, the narrator is using pathos.

Should Convicts Right To Be Informed Essay
Communities should have the right to be informed when convicts are released from prison especially
the victims who were the most affect by the crimes should be informed especially victims of rape.
Upon the release of some offender of sex crimes they are to be put on the register when they return to

Editing, Cinematography, and Sound in Gladiator Essay...
Editing, Cinematography, and Sound in Gladiator
The film that I have chosen to analyse is Gladiator. I have chosen to analyse the scene where the
gladiators are battling in the Middle East. The scene contains many features and editing techniques
which make the fight sequence exciting and thrilling. The scene begins with a medium high angle shot
of a goat with blood dripping down its body. This shot frames the body of the goat and gives it a sense
of vulnerability. The shot creates meaning to the viewer who can predict that the scene might contain
violence or bloodshed of some sort. The camera then zooms outward into an establishing shot to give
the viewer an idea of the setting. The mise en ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lighting is very low key and most of the light filters from the roof, overhead. The overhead
lighting dominates the gladiator s faces and brings out their facial features. This effect shows the
faces of the gladiator s and their anticipation of the battle which is about to commence. Non diegetic
orchestral music starts to begin once more building the tension. The camera then cuts into a close up
of every gladiator whilst moving slowly to the side where it stops and gives us a side view shot of the
gladiator s showing in detail their facial expressions. This is where the dialogue of the main
character begins and the camera moves slowly to a medium low angle shot, thus giving the character a
sense of authority. The character speaks slowly and when he accentuates an important point the
camera moves to a close up of the main character of the film (Russell Crowe), showing the viewer his
feelings and his anticipation. In the background there is the external diegetic sound of the crowd
chanting, kill, kill, kill. This along with the orchestral music sounds like a heart beat as there is a short
pause between every chant. Again the heart beat sound reiterates the anticipation of the gladiators; this
is effective as it makes the scene more exciting and exhilarating to watch. The mimic of the heart beat
and chanting are

Born To Run By Adam Summers
Born to Run In the article Born to Run by Adam Summers the author presents the idea that we as
species evolved from crawling on all 4 s to walking and running on our legs. However, it seems the
author may have stumbled into quite an interesting scenario. The idea that we were made to run, the
way our muscles look essentially we re looking at form following function. While there aren t that
many early fossilized hominids, for example Lucy is said to fit the bill pretty closely with regards to
having to constantly run. The author compares our modern day practices of running marathons to our
prior days in the deserts and forests of their chosen locality, hunting for food, or avoiding being
hunted. I didn t mind this article, but I also wasn t

King s Cross Underground Fire In 1987
Introduction Within this report I am going to state how the King s Cross Underground fire in 1987
happened and the evacuation process that the authorities followed. I am also going to state why this
incident led to the identification of a method of fire propagation known as the trench effect . 1. A brief
report on the incident and the evacuation (500) At King s Cross provides both the mainline railway
station above ground and subsurface platforms for the Metropolitan line. There are also the
underground tube lines for the Northern, Piccadilly, and Victoria lines. There were two separate
escalator shafts leading down to the Victoria and Piccadilly lines; the Northern line was reached from
the Piccadilly line. Stairs connected the Piccadilly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Details of the mechanism known as the trench effect (500) The two methods that are combined to
form the trench effect is based on two well understood but separate ideas: the Coandă effect from fluid
dynamics and the flashover concept from fire dynamics. The Coandă effect is the phenomena in which
a jet flow attaches itself to a nearby surface and remains attached even when the surface curves away
from the initial jet direction. The flash over concept is in a compartment fire there may come a stage
where the total thermal radiation from the fire plume, hot gases, and hot compartment boundaries
(ceilings and walls) causes the radiative ignition of all exposed combustible surfaces within the
compartment. Where the compartment is adequately ventilated in the case of the king s cross fire it
would be the wind from the tubes pushing the air up the escalator, this sudden and sustained transition
of a growing fire to a fully developed fire is known as a flashover. Why them together creates the
trench effect? These two forces combined created what is called the trench effect due to the way in
which the flames go sideways instead of straight up like a general

According To Marx, Society Is Primarily Divided On Those
According to Marx, society is primarily divided on those who own property, For Marx, he believes
that there are only two primary groups in society and these classes are the bourgeoisies and the
proletariats whose social relationship is the motivational force for change in capitalism. But before
humans can do anything, they must satisfy certain their basic needs, they must feed, clothe and house
themselves though productive labor, as it is the This approach is called by Marx, the Materialist
Conception of History. Because humans produce their own means of life, the only available means
would determine their level of existence, as the productive forces of society consist of the means of
production and labor power, enabling them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With everything bought and sold at its value, with the capitalists pocketing the surplus value made
from the labor of the proletariats.
Now Marx isn t saying that all components of capitalism are bad, it s just that the capitalist class must
exploit the proletariats to remain on top of the hierarchy. They must continue to exploit to build their
wealth at their best interest, as their class division entails them to continuously do to continue the
wealth bloodline
In this context, Marx realizes that the productive forces in a society develop faster than production
relations, and they may also conflict with each other. Formally breaking down what consisted of the
hierarchy structure that depersonalized many, in which freedom was limited because one s social
class, attempting to break free of the oppression that once was. This conflict was to be resolved by
replacing the old socio economical production relation with a new one. According to Marx, there are
five socio economic formations. They were primitive communal, slave owning, feudal, capitalist and
communist . Marx claims that each class conflict between each production has ultimately reached their
final stage of revolution after transitioning from one socio economic format to another. This
underlined the progressive character changes of the social development scheme. With Marx believing
that the changes made in society would correspond to the mode of production in society by replacing

Here are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of HSBC, The World s Local
Bank.
Strengths
*International Finance.
Since HSBC is a multinational company itself, it is well qualified to advise other companies on
aspects of international business. With offices around the world, for the cosmopolitan client, HSBC
often cannot be beaten in this area. HSBC knows how to succeed in M A and organic and effective
growth it was mostly an Asian bank until it took over a UK bank in 1992 and now has become the
world s second largest bank by profit.
*China.
HSBC is the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation and it has 140 years of experience in China.
Since China is the place to be nowadays for businesses and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is where it is growing the most. By investing in these countries, HSBC can offset problems it
may have as spending in the US and UK declines.
Threats
*Downturn in American spending.
As interest rates rise and the housing boom ends, Americans are predicted to rely less on consumer
credit and more on their saving skills to get by. The drop in American spending will be bad for the
global economy as a whole, and HSBC will certainly be affected. In
2005, HSBC pretax profits rose 5% to $10.64bn ( 6bn) for the first six months of the year, largely on
the rise in consumer finance for growing consumer spending.
*Employees striking.
Last year, British employees held a strike involving 1,500 workers at
HSBC branches in London. At its annual meeting, striking workers stood outside, handing out bags of
nuts and saying that they are paid
peanuts while HSBC experiences record profits. Strikes such as this, especially in union conscious
Europe, are bad for image reasons and HSBC needs to take action to ensure that its workers are happy
just as its customers are.
*Email viruses.
Last year, HSBC Group s CEO announced that HSBC received tens of thousands of email viruses a
day and must spend great amounts of money to prevent these from causing systemwide damage. As
most banking is done on computers, even one virus could cripple HSBC. On their

Homeless Veterans Program Analysis
Programs and Support for Homeless Veterans Veterans have a higher possibility in becoming
homeless than the general population especially if they are in poverty or a minority (Thompson
Bridier, 2013). In human services and other services that have counselors would be able to start a plan
of action. A plan of action will provided proper resources for this population. A counselor can also find
programs to help find shelter and to get them back into the workforce by looking into the Veteran
Affairs (VA) programs.
There are five programs from Veterans Affairs (VA) that offer services for the homeless veterans to get
back on their feet. The programs are The Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs (HUD
VA), The Grant and Per Diem program, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Veterans who use these programs can better themselves gaining insight; obtain job skills to advance
employment. These programs can help the veteran homeless population and prevent veterans in
becoming homeless. The VA is constantly trying to better its systems to give and offer quality care for
veterans. Veterans who have served and put the life on the line should not have to worry about
transition back to civilian life and the VA is trying to make sure this happens. Human services, social
services, and other services can also assist homeless veterans by getting them into or guide them to a
right program. The VA has changed its guidelines to help and improve what is best to for treating
PSTD and substance abuse due to they both can be related but not recommended to treat them together
(Bernardy, Hamblen, Friedman, Kivlahan, 2011). The VA also has individual placement and support
(IPS) and transitional work experience (TWE) to help veterans to obtain a job. Individual placement
and support is a prompt system for job placement (Leddy, Stefanovies Rosenheck, 2014). Another
opportunity that veterans have to help them to transition back to civilian is education assistance
programs. One of the programs that is popular is the GI Bill. It pays for tuition,

Contact Movie Analysis
Contact
Based on the previous Carl Sagan s novel about an adolescent scientist s determinations to make
Contact with life itself beyond just our universe. The most famous quote that Sagan tells the story of
this movie is that there is billions and billions of stars up there . The fascinating science fiction
film/thriller of that century, Contact, combines many concepts that do not usually go together or are
thought about in relation to each other. That being the concept of faith, politics, and most importantly
science. This movie was released on July 11th, 1997 by producers Robert Zemeciks and Steve
Starkey. Dr.Ellie Arroway played by Jodie Foster rushes to translate a message that they think could
be coming from the Vega star system. When contact at first happens, Dr.Ellie Arroway communicates
with the constricting National Security Advisor Kitz who is played by James Woods. After this
unravels, they go in to see the possible problems with occurrence of this event. An out breaking
message is discovered in the signal, but the question is will Arroway be the only one to be able to
solve it or will there be more involved to help including theory s and arguments? Science versus
religion is one of the main topics and many topics of this movie which I can agree on as I watched this
thriller. Ellie doesn t believe in god and doesn t have a set religion and Palmer does so they clash
personalities a lot throughout Contact. I took interest in one character while watching Contact.

Essay about Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb
Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in
August of 1945 was a definite turning point in the Pacific War of World War II. Earlier that year,
Germany had been defeated and the world then turned its attention to the Pacific war. Most history
books state the argument that the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan was necessary to stop the
war in order to save thousands of lives of American troops that were planning to invade Japan. Had
the bombs not been employed (so the wisdom goes), an enormous number of American troops would
have perished in an inevitable amphibious operation against the Japanese mainland. (McManus 1)
This paper will demonstrate that Japan was willing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The B 29, an aircraft designed to fly long distances without refueling, began to systematically bomb
Japan. It was the B 29 that flew the atomic bombs to Japan. This aircraft took the war home to Japan.
(Garvey 45)
The B 29 firebombings on Tokyo and the effective blockade of supplies for Japan by the American
submarines weakened the Japanese empire. Meanwhile, the Americans troops and back home were fed
the idea that the Japanese would never surrender and the war would go on forever. But in fact, the
Japanese had sent peace feelers to the West as early as 1942, only six months after the December 1941
attack on Pearl Harbor. More would come in a flood long before the fateful use of the atomic bombs.
(McManus 1)
Even before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese were divided into two groups.
The peace party included the Emperor Hirohito and officers in the navy. The war party , headed by
Army leader Tojo, included fanatical military members, believed that Japan s empire should cover all
the islands of the pacific and were responsible for the attack on the navy base in Pearl Harbor.
(McManus)
On different ocassions, the Japanese hinted their interest in peace negotiations through different
channels. They contacted the British after the the Battle of Midway with a message from the Japanese
foreign minister Togo. The message said that the Japanese was ready to be helpful if the

Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for
me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the
better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony.
Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring
people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of
Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that
worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or
something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa
provided an extraordinary experience for me. One thing I realized is how Christians can change the
world by working together, rather than as an individual not that they ... Show more content on

What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the comfort of
our homes? Be that as it may, Christians go to church in order to come together and to try to help each
other mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We go to church for fellowship, discipleship,
and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the world, which the church helps
to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot all be summed up by the church. In
Africa, my eyes were opened to the realization that schools and hospital can also help partake in
making the world a better place. While I was aware of this when in states, I was also partially blinded.
In my hometown, especially when sickness happens, I have so often seen Jesus be dismissed when
illness occurs; and while this may too be the case in some citizens in Africa, the stories that I heard in
regards to ailment where about faith and

The Power Of The Dog Rudyard Kipling
Many dog owners would agree that there are many benefits to having a dog in their life. Throughout
time there have been multiple works of creativity that expresses the multiple benefits and risks of
owning a dog. One poem, in particular by Rudyard Kipling titled The Power of the Dog (Rudyard
Kipling)explains a sentiment that most pet owners would agree with. Kipling explains his attitude of
being able to have owned a dog in his life and the effect that having a addition to your life in the form
of a dog. Kipling s strong sense of emotion and passion truly drives his need of choosing to write this
piece. The reader follows through with a strong sense of sympathy for the hurt that Kipling chose to
express in this work.
Rudyard Kipling was an Indian poet who was born into a family of wealth and prosperity in 1865. He
was later sent to live in England when he was five years old to live with a foster family. He did not
enjoy his living arrangement in his foster home and the experiences that he went through helped to
give him inspiration later on in life in his writings. He later went to college at the age of 12. He is well
known in the world of poetry for his use of descriptive imagery and relatability. (Kipling Society)
Kipling won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.Shortly after his death in 1936, his work began a
slow decline of being neglected due to his unpopular political views that were very present in his
multiple works. (Poetry Foundation)
In this poem, in particular, Kipling explains that Buy a pup and your money will buy,/
Love unflinching that cannot lie. (Kipling 7 8) this piece of art can be interpreted in very few ways.
The common understanding after reading this poem is that dogs are loyal to humans as long as the
humans are loyal to them. The golden rule: do onto others as you would like to be done to you, comes
into full effect or correlation with Kipling s ideas in this work. He goes on to explain the hardships
that may follow when a family loses a dog in their lifetime. He writes that
When the fourteen years which nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits
And the vet s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find it s your own

Examples Of Dystopia In 1984
Dystopia and Science Fiction A dystopia is a imagined universe in which oppressive societal control
and the illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological,
moral, or totalitarian control. Dystopias, through an exaggerated worst case scenario, make a criticism
about a current trend, societal norm, or political system. Some of the traits in a dystopian character is
that the character feels that something s wrong. Also, if the character question the society and political
system. In 1984 the main character Winston starts by walking down a hallway and sees a big poster
with a face on it and the words Big Brothers is Watching You. Then, when Winston is walking he sees
the a helicopter flying between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These values were questioned when Winston noticed that a helicopter was spying on people through
the windows. In the far distance a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs, hovered for an instant
like a bluebottle, and darted away again with matter, however. Only the Thought Police mattered
(Orwell 4). The government spies on people to make sure there not doing anything illegal. Winston
challenged the authorities by writing in a book when he knows if he gets caught he would be
punished. The thing that he was about to do was to open a diary. This was not illegal (nothing was
illegal, since there were no longer any laws), but if detected it was reasonably certain that it would be
punished by death, or at least by twenty five years in a forced labour camp (9). This shows that
Winston is challenging the authorities because he s writing in a book and knows that if he gets caught
that he could possibly die. The author was trying to say about the darkside of technology is that the
more it improves the essayer the government can spy on people. This can be shown today because
when a person posts something on the internet everyone can see it. I think that it is good that the
government has a good control on people so we are safe but if they have too much power the people
won t have any freedom. I also think the author thinks there should be less government

How Does Atwood Use Language In The Handmaids Tale
How does Atwood presents the importance of language in The Handmaid s Tale? Throughout the
novel, we see evidence of indoctrination in all of the characters. This indoctrination process appears to
be primarily carried out by Gilead s manipulation of language among its residents. Language is a
powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and exploitation of discourse in
the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can provide power as well as take it away.
Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the bible to help maintain its theocratic
dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as Give me children or else I die out of
context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies. A quote that is made to be taken quite
literally in Gilead as the women are told it is their sole purpose to reproduce and if they do not they
are an unwoman a disturbing term which implies that in the eyes of Gilead, unless the women meet its
ideology, they are useless and their humanity is taken away from them. ... Show more content on

The displacement of excess funds can either be invested into further research or be distributed to employees annually. Evaluating individual projects and devoting special attention to their expected profitability or fit could produce alternatives as well. • 3. The Main Problems With The Constitution Felix Amza Professor Omowale POS1041 Due 06/23/2015 Project Question Nr. III One of the main problems with the constitution is what some may argue that the role of the president was not very thought of and linked to the constitution, therefore jeopardizing the nation to a dysfunctional and dangerous presidency. Throughout the history of American government, there have been a couple presidencies which have managed to gain high power and disregard the wellbeing of the nation, behave inappropriately and even unconstitutional. A good example of what some argue to have been a bad presidency, would be the case of George W. Bush, which on different occasions, he thought it would be suitable to disapprove of democracy and legal norms, by acting in ways such as; ordering government representatives to bypass statues and treaties, not allowing congressional oversight and jump into unwanted actions such as starting the war with Iraq which was not favored in the Congress. Normally the constitutions contains systems in place that should be able to counterattack such actions and behaviors, like the famous division of power and checks and balances . As the government of America is divided into three powers; the executory, judiciary and legislative, the system of checks and balances gives the three divisions of government the power of checking upon each other and ability of taking action when there is an unconstitutional act from one s side. The system of checks and balances may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. For Proteins, Form Shapes Function Essay Proteins are fundamental components of all living cells that participate in some of the most important biological processes, including cell growth and maintenance, movement and defense. They are complex molecules that consist of one or more chains of amino acids, have distinct three dimensional shapes and whose structure and structural dynamics directly influence their specific function. Most proteins have a primary, secondary and tertiary structure, but some of them, like hemoglobin, also have a quaternary structure. The primary structure of a protein is represented by the ordered succession of its amino acids held together by covalent bonds. While in nature amino acids may possess either the D or L configuration, amino acids within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also preserve the bond angles and the planar configuration of the peptide bond, as well as keep atoms from coming together so closely that they repel each other through Van der Waal s interactions. A protein s tertiary structure, the compact, biologically active and most stable form of the protein, results from further folding of the amino acid chain. The environment in which a protein is synthesized and allowed to folded is a significant determinant of its final shape. If the tertiary structure of a protein is disrupted, the protein is said to be denatured, and it loses its activity. Based on their tertiary structure, proteins can be classified as globular, fibrous and membrane proteins. Globular proteins participate in sophisticated processes such as enzyme mediated catalysis, transport of molecules, signal transduction, defense and regulation. In order to function properly, these proteins need to be compact, soluble and able to form active sites. Proteins of the cytosol need a dense enough structure in order to be able to coexist alongside other components of the cytosol, yet still retain their ability to diffuse freely. In addition to being highly crowded, the environment of cytosolic proteins is also aqueous, which requires them to be water soluble, so as to prevent aggregation and sedimentation. Most of the protein functions involve molecular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. In Cold Blood by Gerald Clarke Truman Capote remains a literary great. His works have been adapted into screenplays and mostly have received critical acclaim. The film Capote was aimed to be biographical in nature and focused mainly on the years Truman Capote spent writing the novel In Cold Blood . The film Capote was by directed Bennett Miller after being adapted from a book of the same title, written by Gerald Clarke. It was set in Kansas and starred Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote and chronicled a six year period in the life of author Truman Capote whilst he wrote a book entitled In Cold Blood . The novel In Cold Blood apparently gave rise to a new style of writing as the book offered much from the murders perspective and introduced a new style of criminal novels. The film opens and begins in 1959 when Capote reads an article in The New York Times about the murder of a Kansas farm family. The Clutter family was discovered murdered with no readily identifiable motive. Truman is already an acclaimed writer, having published books such as the famed Breakfast at Tiffany s . However, somehow the story appeals to him and manages to convince The New Yorker magazine to send him to Kansas to write about it. Almost immediately, one is struck by the magnificent way in which Seymour Huffman has morphed into Truman Capote; his voice especially is acutely similar to that of Truman Capote s both in tone and accent. Seymour Hoffman who has a husky baritone noticeably manages to make his voice shrill, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Onna Daigaku Women Women during the Tokugawa period were expected to be good Confucian wives and were restricted in many aspects of their life. Although multiple expectations were bent in real life situations. In Onna Daigaku, Kaibara Ekiken writes on how a woman should and should not act in public. He also writes several different reasons why a woman should be divorced. This primary source is important in understanding what was expected out of women during this period and helps us apply it to other readings. An example of how one can apply the Onna Daigaku to The Doctor s Wife is the way Otsugi acts repeatedly throughout the book. The Onna Daigaku states The five worst infirmities that afflict the female are indocility, discontent, slander, jealously, and silliness. One of the bigger issues that Otsugi has in becoming a good Confucian wife is that she bears a lot of jealousy and discontent with her daughter in law Kae. At first, Otsugi was pleasant towards Kae and even stated how the two must have been mother and daughter in a past life; but once Seishu comes back from Kyoto, Otsugi becomes very critical of Kae and does not allow the daughter in law near her precious son. Also, the reader gets an underlying sexual vibe from Otsugi towards her son. But whenever Seishu pinched his wife s thigh to test the anesthetic, feelings of jealously raged within her and, at these moments she hated Kae sufficiently to wish for her death. At one point of the book, Otsugi gets even more enraged and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Falling Down Sequence The opening sequence in the film Falling Down portrays how everyday activities can take a turn for the worst. It begins with the main character William Foster stuck in a traffic jam on the highway caused by construction. The first shot that opens the scene is an extreme close up of Foster s face, which allows the audience to see him in great detail. We see by his heavy breathing and sweat dripping down his face that he is in a hot environment. The camera starts to zoom out and go into a tracking shot, which allows us to see the environment that surrounds him. This is also an establishing shot. The car directly in front of Foster has a young girl starring out the back window towards him. There is a school bus two lanes over to his right that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the scene progresses, you see how each event is causing Foster s temper to rise and his patience to grow thinner. Foster constantly plays with his AC unit, which is broken, reinforcing that the temperature outside is hot. Another factor adding to his frustration is the fly stuck in his car. It is buzzing around him and repeatedly landing on his neck causing him to keep swatting at it. The usage of quick cuts gives the impression of tension building up for the character throughout the scene. This gives off the impression that something worse is constantly happening to Foster and he is unable to escape his uncomfortable reality. The AC breaking, window roller broken, kids screaming, cars honking and the heat wave itself are all shown so quickly so that the viewer is seeing that everything is being thrown at Foster at once and that he is starting to feel very claustrophobic and cannot seem to escape it. When everything hits its peak he decides to quickly get out of his vehicle, which serves as his escape as the music and sounds subside to a normal level and he is now calmer and decides to just walk home ... A powerful and instantly recognized global brand has been a key feature of Lego s success. Lego has worked hard to establish this brand through a number of routes. In each of these categories the brand is clearly and consistently applied. ... Care needs to be taken not to dilute the brand equity while increasing product offerings * Improve Distribution: Bionicle was a successful toy but it was criticised for having poor stocks though the product had a high demand, and the lesser popular toys were available in stores. Hence a weak distribution network can be proving detrimental in such a competitive environment. Question 2: In 2004, Lego continued its promotional and product tie ups with Harry Potter and Spiderman. This move is critical since sales and company profits will have to depend on these partnerships and there may be times when there is no release of the particular blockbuster series movie and this dependency can prove detrimental if it s the sole business driver. Too many of these tie ups will be viewed as a block to creativity and then fail to deliver the open ended imaginative play aspect of Lego on which the brand is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Why Is Corporal Punishment Ineffective Corporal Punishment Physical harm for actions deemed negative has been a part of human civilization since the beginning of time. Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. Unless, of course, the individual is hurting another in a way physical violence is the only method of handling the issue. Why does it not warrant it? If every human decided to physically assault every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sports are a popular pastime for young athletes, and there are approximately 45 million participants of youth sports in the US. However, just like most things, there are pros and cons to be considered of these activities. In an article by John R. Gerdy, he states that the biggest problems with youth sports are the parents and coaches. I have chosen to analyse the scene where the gladiators are battling in the Middle East. The scene contains many features and editing techniques which make the fight sequence exciting and thrilling. The scene begins with a medium high angle shot of a goat with blood dripping down its body. This shot frames the body of the goat and gives it a sense of vulnerability. The lighting is very low key and most of the light filters from the roof, overhead. The overhead lighting dominates the gladiator s faces and brings out their facial features. The camera then cuts into a close up of every gladiator whilst moving slowly to the side where it stops and gives us a side view shot of the gladiator s showing in detail their facial expressions. This is where the dialogue of the main character begins and the camera moves slowly to a medium low angle shot, thus giving the character a sense of authority. The character speaks slowly and when he accentuates an important point the camera moves to a close up of the main character of the film (Russell Crowe), showing the viewer his feelings and his anticipation. In the background there is the external diegetic sound of the crowd chanting, kill, kill, kill. This along with the orchestral music sounds like a heart beat as there is a short pause between every chant. Again the heart beat sound reiterates the anticipation of the gladiators; this is effective as it makes the scene more exciting and exhilarating to watch. The flash over concept is in a compartment fire there may come a stage where the total thermal radiation from the fire plume, hot gases, and hot compartment boundaries (ceilings and walls) causes the radiative ignition of all exposed combustible surfaces within the compartment. Language is a powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and exploitation of discourse in the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can provide power as well as take it away. Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the bible to help maintain its theocratic dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as Give me children or else I die out of context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies.
