Victoria Park Reserve Forest Area
Phytosociological Analysis of Victoria park reserve forest area:
Vegetation is a key factor in determining the structure of an ecosystem. It determines many ecological
parameters within a plant community such as microclimate, energy budged, photosynthesis, water
regimes, surface runoff and soil temperature (Tappeiner and Cernusca, 1996). Vegetation of an area
varies from place to place according to habitat heterogeneity of the area itself. The description and
classification of the plant community in an ecosystem is known as Phytosociology (Braun Blanquet,
1932; Odum, 1971). It s an important characteristic in describing vegetation that offers a preliminary
picture of the ecological character of the vegetation (Kershaw, 1973). Each site of study

Since then, the two countries have undergone tensions and hostility. Furthermore, intergovernmental
relations have also been complex. The result of the mutual hostility resulted in an economic war
whereby Russia imposed export blockade on Ukraine, causing customs clearance problems for
Ukraine suppliers to export their products across the border. In the financial year 2013, Food Empire
derived 58.2% of its revenue from Russia as well as 31.7 % from Eastern Europe (e.g. Ukraine) and
Central Asia. This proves that Food Empire s sales revenue depends heavily on both Russia and
Ukraine, thus the political tension and uncertainty between Russia and Ukraine would pose a threat to
its profit and loss. In this case, Food Empire is facing sovereign or country risk, which arises due to
introduction of or changes to government regulations. Sovereign risk is the risk that the government of

Windy City Racial Profiling Is An Act Of Discrimination Essay
WINDY CITY RACIAL PROFILING 1
Windy City Racial Profiling
Edin Hodzic
Loyola University Chicago
Introduction Racial profiling is an act of discrimination committed by law enforcement officials in
which they target certain individuals with the suspicion of a crime due to their race, religion, and
culture. In racial profiling, individuals are suspected of committing a crime solely because of their
appearance, which is associated to stereotypes of their people committing crimes. I believe this is a
huge problem in Chicago because many minorities in Chicago especially those in underdeveloped
neighborhoods are affected by this. Not only is racial profiling unlawful, it goes against what our
nations constitution is supposed to protect us from. The amendments are there to protect us. Racial
profiling violates our 4th amendment right, which protects us from unreasonable searches and
seizures. I?d say that being harassed and making the assumption that someone has committed a
wrongdoing based on their physical features and background would fall under being a very
unreasonable act. My goal with this paper is to shed some light on a view from the past on how racial
profiling became an issue and how it is still an issue around the country including Chicago. This paper
will also include what I believe to be solutions to this growing issue.
Historical Perspective How long ago did racial profiling come to be? Many believe that the concept of
racial profiling

Women On The Front Line
Society has built a stereotype that says women are inherently weaker than men. This has limited
women s chances to get ahead, but people are not standing idly by instead they are pushing for women
to get equal opportunity. Some of these advancements are that women now have the right to vote, to
own their property, and get jobs. However, not all jobs are available to women such as combat
positions in the military. Combat positions or chances on the front line are unavailable to women
because they are depicted as fragile and in need of protection. Women deserve the opportunity to try to
gain their placement on the front line because women can be just as strong as men and they are willing
to fight. The military is denying women the opportunity

Champions in Information Systems Implementations
Champions in IS Implementation
Introduction
Project champions, especially recently, has been regarded as enhancers of the success criteria in any IS
Implementation. This report details their roles in the organisation during the stages of implementation
process, and how a top level manager such as a project manager can manage these champions;
supported by evidence from other scholarly materials.
Research
Through the use of search engines provided from journal databases, a variety of sources are used to
further describe and explain the concepts involved in this report. A. Chakrabarti s The Role of
Champion in Product Innovation provides a solid understanding on the responsibilities of a project
champion during each stage of IS implementation, with cases to exemplify real world situations in
organisations. It also provides a very detailed description of the qualities that every project champion
ought to have. These qualities are also reinforced in Finding a Change Champion by A. Kirsch, and
also how to remedy some common situations that might occur during projects such as inadequate
preparation or over reliance on vendors. Next, Howell and Shea provides an extremely comprehensive
resource that shows the correlation between team performance and champion behaviour in their article
Effects of Champion Behaviour, Team Potency, and External Communication Activities on Predicting

Great Depression And The Great Recession
The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history. There
is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the
Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the
Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great
Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable
indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock
market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the
1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the
eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a useful
perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it directs attention
to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of finance and innovation.
(Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and going shopping without realizing
exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough situation. After a person puts something on
credit they must pay it back at a later date. In the 1920 s the credit boom was where people had started
to use credit more frequently and were getting carried away with the idea of credit. People putting

Speech On Circumcision
There are several preconceived notions surrounding the decision of circumcision. Many people
believe it is ungodly or unsanitary for males not to be circumcised, while others conclude it is
unnecessary or it isn t important. Circumcision is practiced all over the world by many different
religious groups and individuals. These people have different reasons to perform this procedure on
themselves or on their children. Many do it for religious reasons, health reasons or cultural reasons. I
believe it is imperative for parents not to perform this procedure on their children, despite the few
positive outcomes that this operation may carry. With good care and proper personal hygiene practices

Pharmacotherapy for Clients Dependent on a Substance Essay
Medications approved by the FDA for treatment of alcohol and opioid dependence, including
acamprosate, disulfiram, naltrexone, methadone, and buprenorphine, have not been widely studied in
the dually diagnosed population. Often, study participation criteria exclude individuals with co
occurring substance use disorders and mental illness, and it is only in recent years that research
specifically focused on this population has become more common. Pharmacotherapy has also been
underutilized in practice. A survey of 955 bipolar individuals found that while 8% met criteria for a
current alcohol use disorder and 5% met criteria for a current non alcohol substance use disorder, only
0.4% received disulfiram, methadone, naltrexone, and/or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a dearth of research on the use of acamprosate in the collective dually diagnosed population,
attributable perhaps to its relatively recent approval in 2004. There is, however, evidence supporting
the use of disulfiram and naltrexone. In a landmark study, Croop et al. (1997) found naltrexone to be
safe among 865 clients. Although this study did not specifically focus on dually diagnosed clients,
such clients were common in both the treatment and placebo groups, so the research is clinically
relevant. A later review of 72 clients receiving naltrexone for alcoholism showed good treatment
retention (81.9% completed the 8 week study) and good clinical response (82% reduced drinking by at
least 75% and only 17% relapsed at 8 weeks) (Maxwell Shinderman, 2000). In a later placebo
controlled study of 254 outpatient clients with diverse psychiatric disorders and co occurring alcohol
dependence, Petrakis and colleagues (2005) found that use of disulfiram or naltrexone was associated
with a significant reduction in drinking days per week, and an increase in consecutive days of
abstinence, compared to placebo. Clients were randomly assigned to receive (open label) disulfiram
and (blinded) naltrexone, naltrexone only, disulfiram only, or placebo only. In this multisite, placebo

Red Balloon In The House On Mango Street
Red Balloon Throughout the novel, The House on Mango Street , Esperanza struggles to learn who
she really is. At a difficult age of 13, Esperanza is between childhood and adulthood and has to
overcome many challenges such as wondering who she is going to become, having judgmental peers,
and the very difficult challenge of being poor. While her friends are growing up around her, like Sally,
she is left struggling to let go of childhood during this rough time. I think Esperanza begins the book
with wanting to grow up, but by the end, her opinion changes. For example, when she sees her friend

surroundings and slowly admire them. Because she is growing older and wiser, plus she knows that
this is a permanent house that she can get used to, she slowly realizes that there is a positive side to
what she has even though most would say it s not much. The music box in the store is one of the first
things Esperanza seems to admire. She says, ... It s like all of a sudden he let go of a million moths all

Examples Of Sexism In A Doll s House
Sexism. It is the main theme for the play A Doll s House by Henrik Isben. Henrik Isben has a very
strong opinion on this in his play A Doll s House. He shows how he feels about the theme, sexism.
The main character, Nora, is portrayed as constantly being put down by her husband, Torvald. One
example when she is put down by her husband is on the very first page. Torvald said, ...Has my little
spendthrift been wasting money again? Nora was known to spend a little more than necessary in her
youth. However she has reverted her ways since she has been paying of a loan, taking care of the kids,
and taking care of the house. Torvald has said this because Nora had just gotten back from buying a
christmas tree and presents. She was trying to spoil her family because they would soon be coming in
to a larger sum of money and they could finally afford it. Another larger example of Torvald being
sexist is on page seven. Torvald is wagging his finger at Nora and says, Hasn t Miss Sweet Tooth been
breaking rules in town today? Without the proper context this doesn t implicate the same context as
when you know the backstory. Torvald doesn t allow Nora to ... Show more content on

And Torvald responds with Nice? because you as your husband wishes?... This, I found to be one of

The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of...
Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in
yeasts
Introduction:
The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell
respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be determined
by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells.
The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase and
therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of the
monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In the
absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2.
Independent variable Sucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to
10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the
CO2 production of yeast cells.
Dependent variable CO2 production The CO2 production was measured with a CO2 meter (+/ 1ppm),
in order to determine the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast.
Controlled variable Yeast 10.0 mg (+/ 0.5mg) of yeast were added for each trial Time For every trial,
the CO2 production was constantly measured for 300 seconds (+/ 1 second) Temperature The room
temperature was measured throughout the lab and kept constant at 24°C (+/ 1°C), as the lab was

II. METHODOLOGY
The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course, students are
evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective assessment technique. Before the
final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they
think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of
each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the
instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of
accepting or declining the score proposed by students.
We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1).
Figure 1. Approaches for predicting instructor s decision.
The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in the course s
activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between these two previous scores.
Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s decision about
whether to accept the proposed students scores (YES) or not (NO). The new approach uses the three
previous variables as well as a self evaluation questionnaire as another source of information. Then, it
applies cost sensitive classification [2] that is normally used for obtaining

King Alfred of Wessex was probably the best known of all Anglo Saxon rulers . And Alfred s
reputation still stands high with historians, though few would now want to follow following, claiming
him as the most perfect character in history.
Alfred is someone who has had greatness thrust upon him. How and why did he acquire his glowing
reputation, and how does it stand up today? There can be no doubt that Alfred s reign was significant,
both for the direction of the country s development and the fortunes of his descendants. Alfred was the
only surviving Anglo Saxon province. Alfred nearly succumbed to the Vikings, but kept his nerve and
won a decisive victory at the battle of Edington in 879. He then paved the way for the future unity of
England, who conquered the remaining areas held by the Vikings in the east and north, so that by the
mid tenth century, the England we are familiar with, was ruled as one country for the first time. Alfred
studied, and even translated from Latin into Old English, certain works that were regarded as most
necessary for all men to know . Alfred also tried to put these principles into practice, for instance, he

Discrimination Of Women In Apuleius s The Golden Ass Analysis
The Discrimination of Women in Apuleius s The Golden Ass
According to Merriam Webster, gender inequality, or in other words, gender discrimination refers to
unfair rights between male and female based on different gender roles which leads to unequal
treatment in life. The term gender inequality has been a big problem in human history as it was in
ancient Rome. In Apuleius s, The Golden Ass, there are specific examples and sets of imagery that
show how women were discriminated against in Ancient Rome. The purpose of this paper is to
examine the concept gender discrimination towards women in The Golden Ass, paying attention to
how witchcraft is used to do so, and how this is a reflection of Roman culture.
One of the many ways that women are discriminated against in the text, is shown through witchcraft
and sorcery. Witchcraft in The Golden Ass is the only source of power that women have over men.
Women that are powerful and intelligent are portrayed as evil because they are viewed to only use
their abilities in a purely cruel manner. However, that is not always the case, in the story of Socrates
he tells the tale of a woman named Meroe who tricks men into getting in bed with her using
witchcraft. Meroe turned one of her unfaithful lovers into a beaver, hoping that he would bite off his
own testicle when being hunted. This shows Meroe as a villain perpetrator and pity is raised for the
unlucky man who was unfaithful in the first place and had an affair with another

Historians And Their Discourse Community
Historians do research and analyze on past events, old documents, videos and pictures. The
information they get from these sources develops their discourse communities. Each major has its own

Conductive Hearing Loss In The US
Introduction In the United States, about 48 million people or 20 percent of the population is affected
by hearing loss (Hearing Loss Association of America). According to Cole and Flexer (2008), Hearing
loss is the most common birth defect (p. xi). Approximately 16,000 to 18,000 infants and young
children are diagnosed with hearing loss every year. (Cole Flexer, 2008).
Hearing loss can be classified in three ways based on type: conductive, sensorineural, and mixed.
Conductive hearing loss is when sound is not transmitted from the outer ear to the middle ear in an
effective manner. Examples of a conductive hearing loss include: otitis media, perforation of the
tympanic membrane, impacted cerumen, benign growths, foreign objects, or a maldeveloped or absent
outer ear or middle ear structure. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be described as unilateral meaning only one ear is affected or bilateral meaning both ears are
affected. Hearing loss can also be classified as symmetrical or asymmetrical. Symmetrical means that
both ears are affected equally while asymmetrical means that the ears are unequal in their level of
hearing loss. Hearing loss can also be broken down into sudden and progressive onset. Hearing loss
can occur over a short period or it can worsen over time. Fluctuating hearing loss changes over time,
and stable hearing loss remains constant. Hearing loss is characterized by degree of severity based on
decibel loss (American Speech Hearing Association). Normal hearing has a decibel loss of 10 to 15.
Slight hearing loss has a decibel loss of 16 to 25. Mild hearing loss has a decibel loss of 26 to 40.
Moderate hearing loss has a decibel loss of 41 to 55. Moderately severe hearing loss has a decibel loss
of 56 to 70. Severe hearing loss has a decibel loss of 71 to 90. Profound hearing loss has a decibel loss
of 90 or greater (Clark,

Lady Chatterley s Lover By D. H. Lawrence
Early in his novel Lady Chatterley s Lover, D. H. Lawrence writes of his heroine Connie Chatterley, It
was the talk that mattered supremely: the impassioned interchange of talk (7). While at the conclusion,
Connie may very well disagree with this notion, there s no doubt Lawrence himself believed it. For his
last major novel, made famous or perhaps infamous due primarily to the somewhat frequent use of
several four letter words and graphic sexual terminology, is actually not just a book about sexual
expression and freedom. Lady Chatterley s Lover is also, upon closer inspection, an intricately woven,
complex narrative, and to a large degree, a sort of study of language; specifically, it is a study of the
use of authentic dialogue to create realistic portrait of a world in which language is used to gain and
maintain social and sexual power. In literary terms, dialogue can be problematic. Not only must the
narrator of the novel contend with his/her voice, but also the voices of the characters as well. In fact,
dialogue has to speak with the voice of the internal character, not just the author, and sometimes
dialogue and narrative are so far apart as to divide the book into two different languages (Leith 245).
If this is indeed true, then it can be asserted that LCL contains four major voices : Connie s, Clifford s,
Mellors , and the narrator s most likely Lawrence. Admittedly, this raises an important point when
looking at Lawrence, and this novel in

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway
Hills Like White Elephants is the epitome of Ernest Hemingway s legendarily concise writing.
Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from
microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous
diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates a
recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and dependent
nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the story opens
with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as long and white
with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the female character looks off into this brown
and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants (1). The man
quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have (1). From this
exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face value, something that
only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their conversation begins to
revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the hills appears: the
representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion. The hills convey the fear that
women have following the procedure about infertility, death, and loss. These hills are so important,

The Oligarch s Idea Of Athenian Democracy
On the first meeting of the Assembly at the Pnyx, Thearion, the celebrity baker who intriguingly bakes
his loaves of bread into the shape of animals, served as herald and sacrificed a boar to the Goddess
Demeter, hoping she would bless the day and allow for the rebuild and healing of Athens to decisively
begin. However, it seems Demeter was not immediately impressed with the offering, as shortly
thereafter a rain quall blew in from the Saronic Gulf and brought upon a deluge that dismayed
hundreds of Athenians attending the Assembly and innervated their sense to flee the area. Those
resilient enough to stay, including Aristarchus, an Oligarch who presided over the assembly that day,
understood the results of that day s debate, which would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A last second proposition by the Solonian Aristocrat Miltiades to publically fund the arts and preserve

On the fourth day at the Pnyx, the trial initiated by Theozitides was held. Simon the cobbler provided
the pig sacrifice to the goddess Athena and the Assembly, led this day by Thrasybulus, set out to
determine the fate of Socrates. Lycon, Anytus, and Meletus formed the prosecution, accusing Socrates
of being aligned with the Thirty, profaning the Gods, and corrupting the youth to Athenian way of life.
They deemed Socrates crimes of corruption and impiety did not merit the death penalty, but were
serious enough to merit exile.
Socrates defendants included his disciples Crito and Xenophon. Both rebuked the claim that Socrates
was guilty of corruption and impiety, claiming their teacher was merely a thinker who circulated new

Importance Of Writing Reflection
When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I
thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal. As
the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality did not
match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course
by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective.
As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about
different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it
was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not
seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style
referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the
essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this
essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about
various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. It just
did not seem as though our homework matched our class work, so I was a little thrown off. This
imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not
even work on our essays while in class.

A Classroom Divided By Martin Luther King Jr.
A Classroom Divided, is a Classroom United On the day following the assassination of Martin Luther
King Jr., third grade teacher Mrs. Elliot altered her lesson plans surrounding the class unit on
discrimination to concretely teach the students by having them experience the unfairness of bigotry
firsthand. In 1970, the lesson was filmed for a documentary to demonstrate the implications of
stereotypes. The class was split into two groups based on a characteristic of minimal importance in the
societal context: eye color, to develop stereotypical behaviors among the students. On Tuesday, the
first day of the experiment, the students were deemed the blue eyed students and the brown eyed
students. In order, to develop the same type of racism that is generated among whites and colors, Mrs.
Elliot started to describe the differences between the two groups. The brown eyed students were
deemed less intelligent and inform that they would be allowed five minutes less time for recess, not be
allowed to use the drinking fountain and had to wear collars so they could be identified. Additionally,
the two groups could not participate in any activities together and to demonstrate their incompetence
that was initially dismissed by the blue eyed students she provided examples in which the student hit
their little sister or forgot their glasses deeming them forgetful, incompetent and mean. For the second
day of the lesson, the roles were reversed and similar stereotypes were appointed.

Importance Of Plant Pollination
A pollinator is every animal that takes pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators are not only bees
and butterflies as some people may think. When an animal gets pollen from one flower and then keeps
moving and the pollen gets to another flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by
accident. Humans can also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is
smelling the flowers and gets some pollen in his or her shirt; and then when they walk by another
flower of the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is pollination.
Pollinators are important to the ecosystems because they play a very important role in plant

Pemberton, 2010).
Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a relatively high extent of
complementary specialisation at the community scale (Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a
downside to selective pollination. So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of
selective pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is the only
species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more effective because if this pollinator
only gets pollen from one species of flower it will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of
cons of selective pollination: mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good
eyesight; while moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the
night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective pollination are that
if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on such pollinator it would put it in
danger. Also if the plant started to attract other pollinators there would be competition and there could
a case in which the first pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start
pollinating another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have to
change the plant it pollinates or

Belonging Of A Sisterhood Of Arms
Belonging to a Sisterhood of Arms
Despite having been involved in the military since the American Revolution, women are most often
overlooked as being a soldier. While many people think it is respectful to go up and thank a person for
their service and duties in the military, most often they insult women by not acknowledging them as a
soldier, because society still sees military personnel as a male based society. There is a fallacy to this
stigma.
Almost anyone can point out a man who is in the service, whether or not he is in uniform. Although it
may not be easy to tell that I was a soldier in one point in time. The main reason is, is because I am a
woman. There are not many physical attributes for a female that gives any tell tale signs like a person
would see with a male member with his high and thigh hair cut and freshly shaven face. The only sure
way to know that I was a soldier is if I had said so, or if I was seen wearing one of my uniforms with
my hair tied neatly in a low bun; however when I am in my civys (military term for civilian clothes), it
s almost impossible to tell unless one is very observant in human behaviors. Another way to tell how a
woman may be a military member is how we talk; we usually use military jargon such as female/male
, using the NATO alphabet, FUBAR (F*** Up Beyond All Recognition) , and many others we may
find reasons to use in our civilian lives but can only find a military term to express how we feel about
it.
Another way we can be

The followers do not have control of environment, and the environmental factors determine the

Ethical Dilemma Of An Article On Local Domestic Violence
Ethical Dilemma A year ago when you were employed by St. Paul s Family center, you served as

reporter for the local newspaper, approached you yesterday to ask for information about Nicholas
because she heard he had been abusive to his wife and children. Ms. Frei wanted this information as

In the presented dilemma, the social worker is presented with a dilemma of client confidentiality. The
social workers previous client has passed away in a bar fight and a reporter has approached her about

information to someone who is neither a family member nor a colleague. The reporter will more than

Important Values In Life Essay
There are things more paramount than money in life. There are some who live their lives with
nowhere to call home. Dreaming of having a place to sleep and victual with. There are some who live
their lives, kenning that the next day they won t be able to arouse. Hoping they get to stay alive
another day to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine on their face, to smell the made breakfast, and to be
salubrious again. And there are those who live their lives with no family, dying to ken how it would
feel to be part of a family. Some people never experienced having a family. Some people, including
kids, could never stay salubrious. There are those who never experience, having a home. I believe that
there are three very important values in life that we should be thankful for and they are: home, health,
and most importantly a family.
Firstly, having a home is something that everyone needs.Have you ever lived on the streets? I m
conjecturing no. Well, let s say if you think everyone has a place to call home, you are erroneous. For
example, as you sit on a couch and do whatever you do, there are some who never sat on a comfy
couch or even had a place to call home. It is an arduous task to do, for on rainy days they don t have a
place to stay dry at. Adding on to that, you can get sick on cold rainy days. This doubles the situation
of not having a roof for sometimes those illnesses can lead to death if you are not remedied

I. Introduction and Justification
This thesis proposal hopes to examine the relationship between child maltreatment in the form of
physical abuse, psychological and emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect and subsequent juvenile
delinquency as well as future adult criminal offending. Physical abuse is defined at hitting, kicking,
slapping, shaking, burning, pinching, hair pulling, biting, choking, throwing, shoving, whipping and
paddling. Psychological and emotional abuse is defined as yelling, screaming, name calling. Sexual
abuse is defined as fondling, penetration, intercourse, exploitation ,pornography, child prostitution,
group sex, oral sex. Neglect is defined as lack of supervision, inadequate housing or shelter,
inadequate provision of food and water, abandonment, inappropriate clothing for weather, inadequate
hygiene, and denial of medical or dental care. Juvenile delinquency will be operationalized by
participating in acts including drug use and prostitution. This study will also examine the extent of
mediating risk factors such as timing of maltreatment, gender, race, running away, sexual initiation,
school problems etc. The justification for this research is to provide empirical backing for structured

Police Officer Compliance Report
In the course of my career, I have been fortunate to have made few decisions which I truly considered
to be difficult. In each of the cases I have recalled in preparation for this essay, adherence to
department policy or to the law has made the decision a natural one. It is when the decision creates the
potential for disagreement or conflict with a co worker which has proved to make the decision itself
more challenging. In recent positions I held working with, or later for, U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement, I experienced this particular challenge involving one of our office s Detention and

the evaluation of the prints by the second officer to the original officer with my re affirmed conclusion
the two individuals were not the same person. I, again, unlinked the records and performed extensive
data integrity in EARM to prevent the same mistake from occurring in the future.
This experience left a lasting impression on me. I used this experience to improve my procedures for

Warm And Cool Colors In She-Ba By Romarrire Bearden
Every situation in life is full of emotions, moods, and even physical sensations. Emotions, are
essential for all human beings and are also part of our world. All emotions are influenced by the colors
that surround us. To initiate discussing about warm and cool colors, we need to define which color
belongs to each group, for the warm colors are red, orange, and yellow, and cool colors are blue, green
and light purple. First example, Romare Bearden s She ba painting, an African American artist born in
North Carolina. This is one painting that shows both warm and cool colors. She ba, is an art piece that
has blocks of color that contrast in areas of red, yellow and orange combination of cool blues and
greens. Without doubt, this artwork reflects

Intensity Of Exercise Research
Question/Aim:
How does the intensity (amount) of exercise performed (walking/running) affect the heart rate, oxygen
saturation in blood and the frequency of breathing?
How does the amount of time exercised affect the heart rate, oxygen saturation and the frequency of
breathing?
How does this affect the human body? The cardiovascular system? The respiratory system?
Does this have a significant influence on the blood pressure?
Hypothesis:
If the intensity of exercise and the time of exercising increases (not simultaneously), then the heart
rate will escalate to a higher pace, the oxygen saturation in the blood will increase, and the frequency
of breathing will multiply rapidly. First off, I will be making a prediction and explanation about the ...

I will only be testing 2 different paces, a walking pace (4km/h) and a running pace (7km/h). This will
be collected and manipulated by the different paces that will be tested, as I will have stated in the
procedure below. Every 5 minutes, I will stop to test each aspect in order to ensure that the data
collected is reliable and accurate.
Independent Variable 2 (Experiment 2): Time of Exercise (Measured by Minutes) This information
will be collected and manipulated by setting an accurate timer as to each one of the sections of
exercise. There will be 3 sections in total, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes. Each continue after
one another. After each 5 minutes, I will be testing each one of the factors in order to come to a better
conclusion, seeing as there will be more information regarding this

Lean On Lean Software Development
Lean Summary Lean Software Development (LSD) is an implementation of Lean Principles in
software development. In sum, every action that does not produce value is considered waste (muda)
(Liker, 2005). The goal is to create a system (software development or otherwise) that is waste free.
Several Agile techniques can be used to achieve this in software development, making LSD and Agile
similar at first glance (Austad, 2011) . Origin/History It is important to note the history of Lean and
the history of Lean Software development (LSD) are two different histories. Lean and LSD are related
but their histories are different. This history will focus on LSD. The term lean software development
originated in a book written by Mary Poppendieck and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Empower the Team In a traditional work environment, decisions are made from the top down. In a
LSD, it works in reverse of that. The lean approach favors the aphorism find good people and let them
do their own job, encouraging progress, catching errors, and removing impediments, but not micro
managing (Liker, 2005). Defer Commitment By deferring critical/irreversible, you keep your options
open for as long as possible (Liker, 2005). Pros/Cons Pros o Delivering the product early means that
the development team can deliver more functionality in a shorter period of time, hence enabling more
projects to be delivered. o Empowerment of the development team helps in developing the decision
making ability of the team members which in turn creates more motivation among team members (
Top 12 Software Development Methodologies And Its Advantages/Disadvantages , 2014). Cons o
Lean does not do very well in small dev teams where the projects are small and unpredictable (job
shop and/or lots of support). o The project sponsors and clients need to know what they want and
make decisions they will stick to. In lean software development these decisions can be made later. But
the problem is that project sponsors tend to be paralyzed by fear when it comes to making the tough
decisions. And in lean the whole objective of using this over say agile methodology is to enable your
development to be done faster and

Literary Analysis Of The Soldier And Returning, We Hear...
Irene Tsakiri Despoina Kalaitzidou Workshop in Critical Writing: Poetry 10 May 2016 Discussing and
Comparing Poems About War This essay discusses the poems The Soldier by Rupert Brooke and
Returning, We Hear the Larks by Isaac Rosenberg. What I wish to argue is that the speaker tries to
evoke feelings of patriotism in the first poem, and simultaneous but contrasting feelings of horror and
hope in the latter one. Both poems have war and death as their main themes, yet differ significantly
from each other. In terms of structure, The Soldier is composed of two stanzas and it is written in
iambic pentameter. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD in the first stanza, and EFG EFG in the
second stanza. The poem was written during the First World War, ... Show more content on

It consists of four stanzas which are not equal lengthwise. There is also no rhyming; the poem has free
verse. The speaker, who is also the main persona of the poem, is a soldier in the war and we deduce
this from what he describes which definitely sounds like a battlefield and when he talks about [their]
camp (5). The blind man described in line 13 and the girl in line 15 could be identified as silent
personas. The poem s historical context is the First World War, to which the poet, Isaac Rosenberg,
was sent with the English Army. His experience was probably what inspired the poem s theme. The
audience of the poem is every reader, but it could also be a person close to the speaker. Rosenberg s
personal experience of the war, could also indicate that he is the speaker and that the poem could be
considered autobiographical. Moreover, one could say that the poem looks like it could be en extract
from a diary entry, or even a creative letter to a loved one. The tone of the poem is melancholic,
sombre, serious and tense, but a little hopeful as well. Figurative language is excessively used in this
poem. There are two similes, which facilitate the comparison of the song that dropped with a blind
man s dream on the sand (13) and with a girl s dark hair (15). Metaphors are ample in the poem, for
example when they are dragging these anguished limbs (4), the poison blasted track (5), the fact that
death could drop from the dark (10) and that no ruin lies there (15). In line 3 there is personification of
the sinister threat [that] lurks there and the [m]usic showering on [their] faces (9). There could also be
an allusion to the Bible, when the speaker uses the biblical terms hark! (7) and [l]o! (8), while the
strange joy (7) described, could be considered an oxymoron. Interesting is also the wording of the
poem. The speaker uses poetic language with some archaic elements, but also invents and

  • 2. Victoria Park Reserve Forest Area Phytosociological Analysis of Victoria park reserve forest area: Vegetation is a key factor in determining the structure of an ecosystem. It determines many ecological parameters within a plant community such as microclimate, energy budged, photosynthesis, water regimes, surface runoff and soil temperature (Tappeiner and Cernusca, 1996). Vegetation of an area varies from place to place according to habitat heterogeneity of the area itself. The description and classification of the plant community in an ecosystem is known as Phytosociology (Braun Blanquet, 1932; Odum, 1971). It s an important characteristic in describing vegetation that offers a preliminary picture of the ecological character of the vegetation (Kershaw, 1973). Each site of study ... In the financial year 2013, Food Empire derived 58.2% of its revenue from Russia as well as 31.7 % from Eastern Europe (e.g. Ukraine) and Central Asia. This proves that Food Empire s sales revenue depends heavily on both Russia and Ukraine, thus the political tension and uncertainty between Russia and Ukraine would pose a threat to its profit and loss. • 5. Windy City Racial Profiling Is An Act Of Discrimination Essay WINDY CITY RACIAL PROFILING 1 Windy City Racial Profiling Edin Hodzic Loyola University Chicago Introduction Racial profiling is an act of discrimination committed by law enforcement officials in which they target certain individuals with the suspicion of a crime due to their race, religion, and culture. In racial profiling, individuals are suspected of committing a crime solely because of their appearance, which is associated to stereotypes of their people committing crimes. I believe this is a huge problem in Chicago because many minorities in Chicago especially those in underdeveloped neighborhoods are affected by this. Not only is racial profiling unlawful, it goes against what our nations constitution is supposed to protect us from. The amendments are there to protect us. Racial profiling violates our 4th amendment right, which protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures. I?d say that being harassed and making the assumption that someone has committed a wrongdoing based on their physical features and background would fall under being a very unreasonable act. My goal with this paper is to shed some light on a view from the past on how racial profiling became an issue and how it is still an issue around the country including Chicago. This paper will also include what I believe to be solutions to this growing issue. Historical Perspective How long ago did racial profiling come to be? Many believe that the concept of racial profiling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This has limited women s chances to get ahead, but people are not standing idly by instead they are pushing for women to get equal opportunity. Some of these advancements are that women now have the right to vote, to own their property, and get jobs. However, not all jobs are available to women such as combat positions in the military. Combat positions or chances on the front line are unavailable to women because they are depicted as fragile and in need of protection. Women deserve the opportunity to try to gain their placement on the front line because women can be just as strong as men and they are willing to fight. • 8. Great Depression And The Great Recession The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history. There is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the 1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a useful perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it directs attention to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of finance and innovation. (Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and going shopping without realizing exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough situation. Often, study participation criteria exclude individuals with co occurring substance use disorders and mental illness, and it is only in recent years that research specifically focused on this population has become more common. Pharmacotherapy has also been underutilized in practice. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a dearth of research on the use of acamprosate in the collective dually diagnosed population, attributable perhaps to its relatively recent approval in 2004. There is, however, evidence supporting the use of disulfiram and naltrexone. In a landmark study, Croop et al. (1997) found naltrexone to be safe among 865 clients. Although this study did not specifically focus on dually diagnosed clients, such clients were common in both the treatment and placebo groups, so the research is clinically relevant. A later review of 72 clients receiving naltrexone for alcoholism showed good treatment retention (81.9% completed the 8 week study) and good clinical response (82% reduced drinking by at least 75% and only 17% relapsed at 8 weeks) (Maxwell Shinderman, 2000). In a later placebo controlled study of 254 outpatient clients with diverse psychiatric disorders and co occurring alcohol dependence, Petrakis and colleagues (2005) found that use of disulfiram or naltrexone was associated with a significant reduction in drinking days per week, and an increase in consecutive days of abstinence, compared to placebo. • 13. Examples Of Sexism In A Doll s House Sexism. It is the main theme for the play A Doll s House by Henrik Isben. Henrik Isben has a very strong opinion on this in his play A Doll s House. He shows how he feels about the theme, sexism. The main character, Nora, is portrayed as constantly being put down by her husband, Torvald. One example when she is put down by her husband is on the very first page. Torvald said, ...Has my little spendthrift been wasting money again? Nora was known to spend a little more than necessary in her youth. However she has reverted her ways since she has been paying of a loan, taking care of the kids, and taking care of the house. Torvald has said this because Nora had just gotten back from buying a christmas tree and presents. She was trying to spoil her family because they would soon be coming in to a larger sum of money and they could finally afford it. Another larger example of Torvald being sexist is on page seven. • 15. The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On The Rate Of... Determining the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeasts Introduction: The research question asks how varying sucrose concentrations affect the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast, measured in CO2 production. The rate of anaerobic respiration will be determined by measuring the rate of CO2 production by the yeast cells. The hypothesis stats that as the sucrose concentration is increased, rate of respiration will increase and therefore the CO2 production of yeast cells will rise. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of the monosaccharaides glucose and fructose. Glucose is a reactant in anaerobic cell respiration. In the absence of oxygen, glucose will react with the yeast producing ethanol and CO2. Independent variable Sucrose concentration The sucrose concentration in the solution was varied to 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% in order to examine the effect of varying sucrose concentration on the CO2 production of yeast cells. Dependent variable CO2 production The CO2 production was measured with a CO2 meter (+/ 1ppm), in order to determine the rate of anaerobic cell respiration in yeast. Controlled variable Yeast 10.0 mg (+/ 0.5mg) of yeast were added for each trial Time For every trial, the CO2 production was constantly measured for 300 seconds (+/ 1 second) Temperature The room temperature was measured throughout the lab and kept constant at 24°C (+/ 1°C), as the lab was conducted during the same time of ... Before the final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of accepting or declining the score proposed by students. We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1). Figure 1. Approaches for predicting instructor s decision. The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in the course s activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between these two previous scores. Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s decision about whether to accept the proposed students scores (YES) or not (NO). And Alfred s reputation still stands high with historians, though few would now want to follow following, claiming him as the most perfect character in history. Alfred is someone who has had greatness thrust upon him. How and why did he acquire his glowing reputation, and how does it stand up today? There can be no doubt that Alfred s reign was significant, both for the direction of the country s development and the fortunes of his descendants. Alfred was the only surviving Anglo Saxon province. Alfred nearly succumbed to the Vikings, but kept his nerve and won a decisive victory at the battle of Edington in 879. He then paved the way for the future unity of England, who conquered the remaining areas held by the Vikings in the east and north, so that by the mid tenth century, the England we are familiar with, was ruled as one country for the first time. Discrimination Of Women In Apuleius s The Golden Ass Analysis The Discrimination of Women in Apuleius s The Golden Ass According to Merriam Webster, gender inequality, or in other words, gender discrimination refers to unfair rights between male and female based on different gender roles which leads to unequal treatment in life. The term gender inequality has been a big problem in human history as it was in ancient Rome. In Apuleius s, The Golden Ass, there are specific examples and sets of imagery that show how women were discriminated against in Ancient Rome. The purpose of this paper is to examine the concept gender discrimination towards women in The Golden Ass, paying attention to how witchcraft is used to do so, and how this is a reflection of Roman culture. One of the many ways that women are discriminated against in the text, is shown through witchcraft and sorcery. Witchcraft in The Golden Ass is the only source of power that women have over men. Women that are powerful and intelligent are portrayed as evil because they are viewed to only use their abilities in a purely cruel manner. However, that is not always the case, in the story of Socrates he tells the tale of a woman named Meroe who tricks men into getting in bed with her using witchcraft. Meroe turned one of her unfaithful lovers into a beaver, hoping that he would bite off his own testicle when being hunted. (Cole Flexer, 2008). Hearing loss can be classified in three ways based on type: conductive, sensorineural, and mixed. Conductive hearing loss is when sound is not transmitted from the outer ear to the middle ear in an effective manner. • 21. Lady Chatterley s Lover By D. H. Lawrence Early in his novel Lady Chatterley s Lover, D. H. Lawrence writes of his heroine Connie Chatterley, It was the talk that mattered supremely: the impassioned interchange of talk (7). While at the conclusion, Connie may very well disagree with this notion, there s no doubt Lawrence himself believed it. For his last major novel, made famous or perhaps infamous due primarily to the somewhat frequent use of several four letter words and graphic sexual terminology, is actually not just a book about sexual expression and freedom. Lady Chatterley s Lover is also, upon closer inspection, an intricately woven, complex narrative, and to a large degree, a sort of study of language; specifically, it is a study of the use of authentic dialogue to create realistic portrait of a world in which language is used to gain and maintain social and sexual power. In literary terms, dialogue can be problematic. Not only must the narrator of the novel contend with his/her voice, but also the voices of the characters as well. In fact, dialogue has to speak with the voice of the internal character, not just the author, and sometimes dialogue and narrative are so far apart as to divide the book into two different languages (Leith 245). If this is indeed true, then it can be asserted that LCL contains four major voices : Connie s, Clifford s, Mellors , and the narrator s most likely Lawrence. Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates a recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and dependent nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the story opens with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as long and white with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the female character looks off into this brown and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants (1). The man quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have (1). From this exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face value, something that only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their conversation begins to revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the hills appears: the representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion. The hills convey the fear that women have following the procedure about infertility, death, and loss. These hills are so important, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it seems Demeter was not immediately impressed with the offering, as shortly thereafter a rain quall blew in from the Saronic Gulf and brought upon a deluge that dismayed hundreds of Athenians attending the Assembly and innervated their sense to flee the area. I thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal. As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective. As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1970, the lesson was filmed for a documentary to demonstrate the implications of stereotypes. The class was split into two groups based on a characteristic of minimal importance in the societal context: eye color, to develop stereotypical behaviors among the students. On Tuesday, the first day of the experiment, the students were deemed the blue eyed students and the brown eyed students. In order, to develop the same type of racism that is generated among whites and colors, Mrs. Elliot started to describe the differences between the two groups. The brown eyed students were deemed less intelligent and inform that they would be allowed five minutes less time for recess, not be allowed to use the drinking fountain and had to wear collars so they could be identified. Additionally, the two groups could not participate in any activities together and to demonstrate their incompetence that was initially dismissed by the blue eyed students she provided examples in which the student hit their little sister or forgot their glasses deeming them forgetful, incompetent and mean. • 28. Importance Of Plant Pollination A pollinator is every animal that takes pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators are not only bees and butterflies as some people may think. When an animal gets pollen from one flower and then keeps moving and the pollen gets to another flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by accident. Humans can also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is smelling the flowers and gets some pollen in his or her shirt; and then when they walk by another flower of the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is pollination. Pollinators are important to the ecosystems because they play a very important role in plant reproduction. If it wasn t for pollinators most plants would not ... Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a relatively high extent of complementary specialisation at the community scale (Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a downside to selective pollination. So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of selective pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is the only species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more effective because if this pollinator only gets pollen from one species of flower it will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of cons of selective pollination: mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good eyesight; while moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective pollination are that if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on such pollinator it would put it in danger. Also if the plant started to attract other pollinators there would be competition and there could a case in which the first pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start pollinating another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have to change the plant it pollinates or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Belonging Of A Sisterhood Of Arms Belonging to a Sisterhood of Arms Despite having been involved in the military since the American Revolution, women are most often overlooked as being a soldier. While many people think it is respectful to go up and thank a person for their service and duties in the military, most often they insult women by not acknowledging them as a soldier, because society still sees military personnel as a male based society. There is a fallacy to this stigma. Almost anyone can point out a man who is in the service, whether or not he is in uniform. Although it may not be easy to tell that I was a soldier in one point in time. The main reason is, is because I am a woman. There are not many physical attributes for a female that gives any tell tale signs like a person would see with a male member with his high and thigh hair cut and freshly shaven face. The only sure way to know that I was a soldier is if I had said so, or if I was seen wearing one of my uniforms with my hair tied neatly in a low bun; however when I am in my civys (military term for civilian clothes), it s almost impossible to tell unless one is very observant in human behaviors. Another way to tell how a woman may be a military member is how we talk; we usually use military jargon such as female/male , using the NATO alphabet, FUBAR (F*** Up Beyond All Recognition) , and many others we may find reasons to use in our civilian lives but can only find a military term to express how we feel about it. • 46. Warm And Cool Colors In She-Ba By Romarrire Bearden Every situation in life is full of emotions, moods, and even physical sensations. Emotions, are essential for all human beings and are also part of our world. All emotions are influenced by the colors that surround us. To initiate discussing about warm and cool colors, we need to define which color belongs to each group, for the warm colors are red, orange, and yellow, and cool colors are blue, green and light purple. First example, Romare Bearden s She ba painting, an African American artist born in North Carolina. This is one painting that shows both warm and cool colors. She ba, is an art piece that has blocks of color that contrast in areas of red, yellow and orange combination of cool blues and greens. Without doubt, this artwork reflects ... • 47. Intensity Of Exercise Research Question/Aim: How does the intensity (amount) of exercise performed (walking/running) affect the heart rate, oxygen saturation in blood and the frequency of breathing? How does the amount of time exercised affect the heart rate, oxygen saturation and the frequency of breathing? How does this affect the human body? The cardiovascular system? The respiratory system? Does this have a significant influence on the blood pressure? Hypothesis: If the intensity of exercise and the time of exercising increases (not simultaneously), then the heart rate will escalate to a higher pace, the oxygen saturation in the blood will increase, and the frequency of breathing will multiply rapidly. First off, I will be making a prediction and explanation about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will be collected and manipulated by the different paces that will be tested, as I will have stated in the procedure below. Every 5 minutes, I will stop to test each aspect in order to ensure that the data collected is reliable and accurate. Independent Variable 2 (Experiment 2): Time of Exercise (Measured by Minutes) This information will be collected and manipulated by setting an accurate timer as to each one of the sections of exercise. There will be 3 sections in total, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes. Each continue after one another. After each 5 minutes, I will be testing each one of the factors in order to come to a better conclusion, seeing as there will be more information regarding this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Lean On Lean Software Development Lean Summary Lean Software Development (LSD) is an implementation of Lean Principles in software development. In sum, every action that does not produce value is considered waste (muda) (Liker, 2005). The goal is to create a system (software development or otherwise) that is waste free. Several Agile techniques can be used to achieve this in software development, making LSD and Agile similar at first glance (Austad, 2011) . Origin/History It is important to note the history of Lean and the history of Lean Software development (LSD) are two different histories. Lean and LSD are related but their histories are different. This history will focus on LSD. The term lean software development originated in a book written by Mary Poppendieck and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Empower the Team In a traditional work environment, decisions are made from the top down. In a LSD, it works in reverse of that. The lean approach favors the aphorism find good people and let them do their own job, encouraging progress, catching errors, and removing impediments, but not micro managing (Liker, 2005). Defer Commitment By deferring critical/irreversible, you keep your options open for as long as possible (Liker, 2005). Pros/Cons Pros o Delivering the product early means that the development team can deliver more functionality in a shorter period of time, hence enabling more projects to be delivered. o Empowerment of the development team helps in developing the decision making ability of the team members which in turn creates more motivation among team members ( Top 12 Software Development Methodologies And Its Advantages/Disadvantages , 2014). Cons o Lean does not do very well in small dev teams where the projects are small and unpredictable (job shop and/or lots of support). o The project sponsors and clients need to know what they want and make decisions they will stick to. In lean software development these decisions can be made later. But the problem is that project sponsors tend to be paralyzed by fear when it comes to making the tough decisions. And in lean the whole objective of using this over say agile methodology is to enable your development to be done faster and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Literary Analysis Of The Soldier And Returning, We Hear... Irene Tsakiri Despoina Kalaitzidou Workshop in Critical Writing: Poetry 10 May 2016 Discussing and Comparing Poems About War This essay discusses the poems The Soldier by Rupert Brooke and Returning, We Hear the Larks by Isaac Rosenberg. What I wish to argue is that the speaker tries to evoke feelings of patriotism in the first poem, and simultaneous but contrasting feelings of horror and hope in the latter one. Both poems have war and death as their main themes, yet differ significantly from each other. In terms of structure, The Soldier is composed of two stanzas and it is written in iambic pentameter. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD in the first stanza, and EFG EFG in the second stanza. The poem was written during the First World War, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It consists of four stanzas which are not equal lengthwise. There is also no rhyming; the poem has free verse. The speaker, who is also the main persona of the poem, is a soldier in the war and we deduce this from what he describes which definitely sounds like a battlefield and when he talks about [their] camp (5). The blind man described in line 13 and the girl in line 15 could be identified as silent personas. The poem s historical context is the First World War, to which the poet, Isaac Rosenberg, was sent with the English Army. His experience was probably what inspired the poem s theme. The audience of the poem is every reader, but it could also be a person close to the speaker. Rosenberg s personal experience of the war, could also indicate that he is the speaker and that the poem could be considered autobiographical. Moreover, one could say that the poem looks like it could be en extract from a diary entry, or even a creative letter to a loved one. The tone of the poem is melancholic, sombre, serious and tense, but a little hopeful as well. Figurative language is excessively used in this poem. There are two similes, which facilitate the comparison of the song that dropped with a blind man s dream on the sand (13) and with a girl s dark hair (15). Metaphors are ample in the poem, for example when they are dragging these anguished limbs (4), the poison blasted track (5), the fact that death could drop from the dark (10) and that no ruin lies there (15). In line 3 there is personification of the sinister threat [that] lurks there and the [m]usic showering on [their] faces (9). There could also be an allusion to the Bible, when the speaker uses the biblical terms hark! (7) and [l]o! (8), while the strange joy (7) described, could be considered an oxymoron. Interesting is also the wording of the poem. The speaker uses poetic language with some archaic elements, but also invents and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
