To make matters even more confusing, there are those within the Business Analyst community who
have begun to distinguish between business analysts who focus on defining software requirements and
those business analysts who are focused on improving business processes. SAP, for example, has set
up a website1 for Business Process eXperts (BPXs), a group of analysts with more extensive business
process capabilities.
This vagueness between BA and BPM roles creates confusion in practice and academia, which
impacts on role designs, skills assessment, human resource development, recruitment and professional
development. The impact of such was made clear at a Leonardo Process Days 2010 conference panel
where BA and BPM role differentiation was reviewed. An outcome of this discussion was a consensus
that i) Practitioners struggle to recognise and articulate the skills required (BA, BPM or both?) for
various organisational initiatives and how to locate appropriate talent to fill these roles ii)
Academics fail to position BA and BPM as separate professions and often bundle them as the same in
their course descriptions and marketing iii) Students and prospective candidates for employment
vacancies therefore remain confused about the specific skill sets required of a BPM professional a nd/
or a Business Analyst.
Both the BA and BPM professions have made attempts

Essay on Case Study of Coastline Electrics, UK
Introduction
The changes endured by Coastline occurred in the very specific context of privatisation. In this
perspective, clashes of paradigms are common, in particular in the way knowledge is viewed and
exercised as well as between the past and present goals of companies engaged in such process. As
described by Grey and Mitev (quoted in Wilson, 1995, p.59): If post industrial society does offer the
possibility of decentralization of work and industrial structures, as well as an increase in the quantity
of information and/or knowledge, it is important to remember that these changes have emerged in
particular circumstances, that is, the countervailing tendencies towards (re)centralization of overall
control; an increasing privatization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the fact that engineers power (it is, according to French and Raven s 1959 definition,
both a legitimate and expert power) was largely legitimated by their knowledge, and that losing the
exclusive exercise of it actually weakened their legitimacy both as professionals and managers.
Indeed, engineers managerial dimension was also weakened (although officially reinforced) by the
fact that TQM and team working usually comes along with the concept of horizontal surveillance
among the individual team members (Wilson, 1995, p.66) in which team members control each others
work. Furthermore, TQM procedures and Job Redesign measures (acquiring a part of engineers
knowledge) also provide them the power to check their own work individually and therefore change
then vertical control process by making them more independent of engineers. The programme Partner
Coaching is also a good example of how TQM procedures may lead to a normalisation and therefore
to the controllability of individuals, as Wilson demonstrate: The techniques of strengthening a
corporate culture become the preventives of contamination of employees by rival values and the
alignment of employee purpose with the normative

Compare And Contrast The Sniper And Where Have You Gone...
Copious bullets, like that of torrential downpour, reign over the battlefield; a setting in which man
created through dispute, engulfs each and every individual caught within it. Some are immediately
spun into a downward spiral, while with others, it hits them in the midst even if they have built an
immunity to war s ways. Two fictional characters, both sharing a similar atmosphere, experience the
true affects to war in their own ways. Although war never changes, the individuals do, no matter the
situation. This is exemplified through the fictional tales, told by Liam O Flaherty s The Sniper, as well
as Tim O Brien s Where Have You Gone Charming Billy, and as the main characters are to each their
own story, they bear contradistinction to one another in the aspect of war, personality, and the
emotional reactions to war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
War covets the aspect of man that is man itself, for it craves to morph them into mere objects and
targets. For many soldiers, they succumb to such a fate; being depleted their ability to feel immediate
emotion, they develop primitive, animalistic urges of bloodlust during a time of bloodshed. The
aspects of war gravely impacts a person, and as such can be seen in O Flaherty s character the sniper,
as well as seen in O Brien s character Private Paul Berlin. The sniper is a victim to the war s cold,
emotionless embrace. A Republican soldier, he is, divided from his brothers in arms on the other side,
the ones called the Free Staters. Nonetheless, under the circumstances, they all are pawns to Dublin s

The Cruelty of Female Circumcision
According to The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, It is estimated that between 100
million and 140 million girls and women worldwide have received FGC. There are more than 3
million girls at risk of having FGC each year (DHHS). Circumcision can be preformed on both males
and females. It is common a common practice among western cultures to preform circumcisions on
males. Female circumcision is uncommon and is illegal in most countries and considered a violation
of human rights.
Male circumcision is done by removing the foreskin around the head of the penis and is usually done
1 2 days after birth. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Male circumcision reduces the risk
that a man will acquire HIV from an infected female partner, and also lowers the risk of other STDs,
penile cancer, and infant urinary tract infection. For female partners, male circumcision reduces the
risk of cervical cancer, genital ulceration, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and HPV. Although male
circumcision has risks including pain, bleeding, and infection, more serious complications are rare (1).
Another risk includes, decrease in sensitivity. In other words, there are both benefits and risks to male
circumcision. The cause of male circumcision is health benefits and religious reasons.
Female circumcision is also known as female genital mutilation, it is illegal in the United States of
America and many other countries. There are two main ways that is preformed. The first

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Organizational Change Model
2.3 The Organizational Change
The organizational change is the movement of an organization away from its present state and toward
some desired future state to increase its effectiveness. There are some popular models. According to
the environment and people the leader has to choose the type of the model. These models have some
advantages and disadvantages. In each model these advantages and disadvantages will be stated at the
end of the concept of the model. These models are:
2.3.1 ADKAR Model (For Individual Change Management)

1) Ending, losing and letting go phase can be described as: The employees are forced to let go of
something that they are comfortable with and they have to deal with loses and mentally prepare to

2) The neutral zone phase can be described as: It is the bridge between the old and the new. The
personnel or staff will still be attached to the old system while trying to adapt to the new one. They
might be confused and impatient...
3) The new beginning phase can be described as: It is the time or moment of acceptance and when
change begins to work. The personnel and staff have embraced the change initiative and it might be
seeing little wins from their efforts...
But it can t be used independently, it has to be used with other tools like Kotter s and Lewin s change

Essay about Sillouette
et A silhouette is defined as a dark image outlined against a lighter background. this title is perfect for
the lifeless world described in Pauline Johnson s poem, Silhouette. The silhouette is used as a
metaphor for the decay of the chief. As the Chiefs surroundings decay and fall apart around him. The
chief is slowly consumed by the loss of the land and his people. As the land begins to evaporate
around him he becomes the dark shadow like shape that once the leader of his tribe.
In silhouette the setting is very important to the development of the theme. The image of change and

represent the chiefs people who have been killed. Pauline Johnson gives them life when they cry out

dead that he must change and leave before he decays and ultimately ends up like them. The skeletons

America s Illegal Immigration Reform
There are few topics in America as controversial as illegal immigration. With the standards of living
for the lower class workers in Mexico as poor as they are, hundreds of men, women and children cross
America s southern border illegally every year in search of better opportunities for themselves and
their offspring. As the 2016 presidential election has illustrated, America is very split on the issue.
Republican nominee Donald Trump has stated that if elected president he will build a massive wall
along America s southern border, and that illegal immigrants will be deported en masse. Democratic
nominee Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has stated that she will lead immigration reform if elected.
While America has not yet decided who will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heidy Sarabia, in her paper titled Perpetual Illegality: Results of Border Enforcement and Policies for
Mexican Undocumented Migrants in the United States, argues that heightened border security and
legalization restrictions created America s illegal immigration problem in the first place. For example,
she states that The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) created mixed status families
by only allowing illegal immigrants who had lived in the United States throughout the entirety of 1982
1987 to alter their legal status (Sarabia). She goes on to explain that These mixed status families are
one of the most important elements that pull migrants to return to the United States... , and that any
attempt to reform immigration that does not address this problem will only serve to create more mixed
status families (Sarabia). Additionally, Sarabia explains that illegal immigrants in the United States are
settling for longer periods of time than they have in the past for two reasons: First, leaving the United
States decreases their opportunities for adjusting their legal status, and second, the intensification of
border enforcement has made it more difficult and expensive to return to the United States . So, in
order to be with their families, Sarabia argues, and because of the dangers and expense now associated
with illegally crossing the border, many undocumented immigrants choose to stay in America as long
as they can since obtaining a visa and visiting legally is not an option for many. Sarabia offers an
example in the form of Sandra, a Mexican citizen who at the time was trying to enter America to see
her sick sister. She attempted to get a visa, but was turned down as many are (Sarabi). Presented with
no other options she had little choice but to attempt to cross the border illegally (Sarabia). During the

Theme Of Extract In The Great Gatsby
In this extract from The Great Gatsby, the reader witnesses a transition from an enjoyable environment
to one of hostility. We are then immediately placed into a fast paced, intense altercation between Tom
and Mrs. Wilson which results in a broken nose for Mrs. Wilson. Furthermore, we witness how Tom
leaves the scene with no remorse. We are left speechless by Tom s actions. However, this can be read
and interpreted differently by a feminist or psychoanalytic reader. A feminist would look into how
women survive in a patriarchal society and how groups like homosexuals suffer from male dominance
and power. As a psychoanalytic reader, would take a closer look into the human psyche and how
elements of unconscious and conscious are rooted in human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Come to lunch some day, he suggested, as we groaned down in the elevator. A feminist would be
appalled by the fact that Mr. Mckee proposed lunch after such a horrific event. Nevertheless, they may
have little respect for Nick and Mr.Mckee as the onomatopoeia groaned suggests they feel some sort
of grief for Mrs. Wilson. The fact that Mr.Mckee and Nick fled the scene without helping still suggests
stereotyping of women as the ones with do the cleanup. This sexist view of leaving the women to deal
with consequences and take responsibility for men s actions is seen by feminists as appalling. A
psychoanalytic reader might analyse this in a different manner by pointing out the unconscious
thinking of the man to leave the scene without helping. Does not want to get involved in the messy
situation and rather let the women deal with cleanup. However we do see later on that Nick and
Mr.Mckee conscious thoughts spring into action. They feel some sort of grief as suggested by the
onomatopoeia groaned. On the other hand, this is shown after they leave the scene which may suggest
that they do not want to show weakness by feeling grief for Mrs.Wilson. They want to seem as if they
are maintaining their power and dominance over the

How Does Hurston Use Imagery In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Nature at its Best Throughout Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, multiple
accounts of imagery are present. This imagery includes the use of nature to illustrate how people in the
book see themselves and each other. Nature is universal and powerful, so the author cleverly uses
nature as another way to emphasize the important points she is trying to make. The way Hurston uses
imagery through nature symbolizes the evolution of identity, importance and self appreciation.
Hurston s first use of imagery in the book is seen with the pear tree representing young love,
something that doesn t last forever. Janie is telling her friend, Pheoby, about her time spent around the
blossoming pear tree as a young girl. Hurston uses imagery in this section with the blossoming pear
tree to represent young love. While Janie is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At Tea Cake s funeral, more imagery was used through the large pine trees evident in the scene. The
last sentence of the book is She called in her soul to come and see (Hurston 193) The pine trees
symbolizes Janie s identity when it is fully grown. The pine tree is straight and tall; it doesn t change
to please others. Janie is finally comfortable with who she is. Throughout the duration of the book,
Janie is not her actual self, but when she at last opens up and lets her tapped soul come out, she
solidifies who she is. Similar to the book, history places freedom as A life of joy and caution, a search
for independence: as a people as individuals, and the search for social separation (O Connor). Just as
Janie is finding herself, so are many newly freed slaves. They all are just trying to become their
genuine selves, not a slave but a person that holds value, and has respect. They are essentially going
through the same journey Janie went through, trying to find themselves and embrace who they

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Adhd, Depression, And Anxiety
Discussion
This study examined whether SCT symptoms are significantly associated with poor study skills and
EF deficits in college students over and above demographics and symptoms of ADHD, depression,
and anxiety. This study also examined whether deficits in EF mediate the association between
symptoms of SCT and poor study skills over and above demographics and symptoms of ADHD,
depression, and anxiety. The current study adds to extant research regarding SCT in a number of ways.
This is the first study to examine SCT in relation to the component aspects of academic functioning,
such as learning and study skills, in a college student sample. Furthermore, two recent studies have
found SCT to be significantly related to college students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, and as hypothesized, SCT symptoms were significantly associated with poorer study
skills, and the associations between SCT and the affective learning strategy and goal strategy
components of study skills remained significant even after controlling for symptoms of ADHD,
depression, and anxiety. Of note, the association between ADHD inattention and study skills was
either greatly reduced (affective strategies) or reduced to nonsignificance (goal strategies) when SCT
was added to the regression models. SCT is characterized by daydreaming, mental confusion, low
motivation, and slowed thinking which may possibly explain the association between SCT and poor
affective learning (which includes attitudes towards school success, time management, and
concentration) and goal strategies (which includes academic anxiety, use of homework and test taking
strategies, and being able to distill the most critical or important information when learning).
Interestingly, SCT was much less strongly correlated with comprehension monitoring strategies (r =
.22) than with either affective learning or goal strategies (rs = .65 and .63, respectively), and SCT was
no longer significantly associated with comprehension monitoring strategies in the initial regression
analysis that controlled for demographics and other psychopathology symptoms. The comprehension
monitoring strategies domain of the

Navy Uniforms Case Study
Financial Burden to Maintain Uniforms
Navy uniforms are some of the most striking and recognizable symbols of honor and tradition around
the world. Whether in dress blues, dress whites or khakis, the men and women who dawn the Navy
uniform wear it with pride and distinction. Senior Enlisted Leaders must be aware of available
organizational clothing and maximize Sailor usage to minimize the financial burden on members. This
paper will cover the background of the Navy s uniform requirements and the financial burden required
to maintain them, offer discussion on the impact it has on personnel and recommendations for
mitigating these impacts.
Problem
The U.S. Navy provides an initial issue of uniforms to all members upon accession into the service,
however the work schedule and working environment reduces wear life. The problem is Sailors are
forced to pay the high cost of maintaining and replacing uniforms required for daily use. The U.S.
Navy provides 3 sets of Navy Working Uniforms (NWU) and 2 sets of Navy Service Uniforms (NSU)
(NAVPERS 15665I). This allotment does not meet the daily use requirements nor are they durable
enough to endure the rigors of the work environment and required laundering. The next topic will
focus on a discussion about maintenance of the working uniforms attributing to the financial burden
our Service Members and their families incur.
Discussion
Navy manpower requirements are based on mission requirements and are set forth in OPNAVINST

Social Media Activism
While in this course, I have found myself becoming gradually more and more drawn to the idea of
media activism in relation to new media policy. The topic of change and improvement means a lot to
me when it comes to current issues in media policy in general, and I found myself very intrigued by
what Malcolm Gladwell had to say about the laziness, easiness and security that comes with being an
online activist in this century. I sincerely believe that media activism is not getting the credit it
deserves in a day and age where the internet is such a powerful tool to bring people closer together to
do outstanding things. This being said, there are several arguments on either side of this debate on
activism. In this paper I would like to take Gladwell s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By saying this, Rapping is arguing that television pays an important role in media activism. But with
this being said, who has control over information shared on the television? Certainly the control is not
in the individuals who are activists, but rather is in the hands of corporations and the government.
Media, in a way makes it harder for activists to have their voices heard, and even taken seriously.
Ryan goes on to write Today, the mass media, especially TV are among the most important institutions
maintaining, reinforcing and reproducing existing inequities in power. Since media controls the range
of views to which audiences are exposed, media coverage can obscure and can even reverse public
opinion towards repressive social policies (Ryan 7). This statement, indeed reinforces the idea that the
media controls views by swaying the public s opinion on political topics. For example, the recent war
in Syria has been drastically skewed when it comes to North American TV media stations. Not only
are we being told that troops going over there to fight is okay, but we are also being told that Syrian
refugees should not be allowed in North America. This is quite a hot topic at the moment, and either
way, you can see how the media is often times completely one sided and biased. This, in my opinion
makes it very hard for media activism to take place, especially on television. The internet is a little bit
of a different story, because people can openly voice their opposing views

A View From The Bridge Sympathy
In the play A View from the Bridge Miller gives us many reasons to sympathise with the character of
Eddie. He is someone who ultimately dies at the end of the play and is presented as a fallen hero in
this Greek style tragedy. As the scenes progress, we discover that his feeling for Catherine are more
than merely paternal love. Despite this, Miller provides us with reasons to still be somewhat be
sympathetic towards him. One way in which Miller makes us feel sympathy towards Eddie, is through
his kind behaviour which is shown in Act One. When Catherine s mother died, he adopted her, Eddie
says I struggled for that girl . This quotation shows that not only did Eddie look after Catherine, he
also wanted the best for her. The verb choice struggled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the play Alfieri is the chorus and someone we can trust. On page 15 he says he was a good
man as he had to be in a life that was hard and even. He worked on the piers when there was work, he
brought home his pay and lived. This quotation is early on in the play, and gives us the impression that
Eddie is a simple character but despite this Alfieri still seems to respect him. This means that before
we have discovered for ourselves the characteristics of him, Miller has used the tool of Alfieri to
influence our judgement. The adjective good suggests that Miller wanted us to believe that Eddie isn t
a character we should feel no sympathy towards. This can be seen once again at the end of the play
when Alfieri tells us that I will morn him. This is said in the closing speech in the play, so holds a
weighty significance. The verb choice Morn tells us that Miller wanted our last thoughts about Eddie
not to be completely negative. Miller creates Alfieri as a character who s judgement the reader can
trust, and so we are inclined to feel some sympathy towards Eddie as we see that Alfieri does. In this
way Miller uses the character of Alfieri to ensure that some sympathy will always be felt towards

Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory
Prison gangs, not much unlike street gangs; a social entity devised to bring a sense of belonging, a
sense of brotherhood. Prison gangs are found all over the world, consisting mostly of males with the
majority of prison gangs made up of Caucasians. Although, the Latino gang population is steadily
increasing. To help us understand prison gangs, we take a look at Robert Agnew s theory called
General Strain theory, in which an individual commits a crime or violence based off of 3 main
sources: 1), an individual is stopped from reaching a goal, 2), something an individual possesses or
valued is removed or threatened, 3), or something negative or unwanted is imposed on an individual
(Alvarez Bachman, 2017). Using this theory, we will dive in to understanding what has helped the
Aryan Brotherhood rise to become one of the most notorious prison gangs our world has ever seen.

These gangs may have dues, which could be in the form of money, protection, drugs or even sexual

Summary Of Michael Lewis Liar s Poker
Mortgage bonds. Government bonds. Interest rates. Savings and Loans. You re forgiven if the terms
send chills down your back, reminding you of that dreadfully boring finance course you took
freshman year of college. The terms have a remarkable ability to make readers put down whatever
they re reading in exchange for something more interesting (i.e., almost anything). It takes a talented
writer to tell a compelling tale about these colorless financial instruments. A humorous tale? Nigh
impossible.
Yet that is exactly what Michael Lewis accomplishes in his semi autobiographical book, Liar s Poker.
In fact, the tale he tells of his time at the Wall Street Investment Bank Salomon Brothers is every bit as

The constant flow of fascinating anecdotes combined with frequent humorous quips from Lewis make
the book hard to put down. In describing Henry Kaufman, the head of bond research at Salomon when
he arrived, Lewis writes that He was so often right that the markets made him famous if not

The Contributions Of The Hanging Garden Of Babylon
The Hanging Garden of Babylon was built in 600 B.C by Nebuchadnezzar, the king at the time. These
beautiful gardens were built for the purpose of a gift to the queen, Amytis of Media, who had missed
the flowers of her home land. To make the queen happy, Nebuchadnezzar commanded the garden be
made. Ancient writer Diodorus Siculus wrote about how the walter ong planes of the exotic flora and
fauna were self watering. The greenery itself could reach up to 75 feet. Although, some historians lead
to believe that the gardens were fake and not really made, due to the lack of abundant records and it
not being around today because of an earthquake in the 2nd century , early historians such as Diodorus
Siculus, Philo, and Strabo wrote about the gardens; and so according to our knowledge today, the
fountains were a part of history, and because of their magnificence, they are named a Wonder of the
Ancient World. The Wonder, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, was built in 550 B.C, and was composed
by Chersiphron, a Greek architect. The temple was a religious building dedicated to Zeus daughter
Artemis, goddess of hunting and wild nature; however, when it was not being used in a time of
worship, it was converted into a marketplace. The Temple was constructed from marble and stretched
to a height of 425 feet, as well as being 225 feet wide. The delicately designed Wonder had 127

Building Regulations
Unit: Building Regulations and Control in Construction
Title: The origins and purpose of building control
Pass 1
UK Building Regulations:
The first building control legislation in England dates back to the Great Fire of London in 1666. The
reasons why it spread out so quickly were the proximity of the timber buildings. The government of
the day realised this and introduced by laws to try to prevent it from happening again. So in 1667 they
introduced the London Building Act. However it was not until 1774 that the District Surveyors in
London were appointed to enforce these laws.
Around this time due to the Industrial Revolution other towns were rapidly expanding and they started

this already established culture are presented the possibility of conflicts or tensions might arise. Either
the individual themselves will feel a developed sense of anxiety over what others will think or the rest
of society will decide that they must do something to deal with this individual s status. The characters
of Homer in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Prufrock in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J.
Alfred Prufrock are both portrayed as cultural outsiders. Although the reason that they are seen as
cultural outsiders is different, neither one of the characters is truly accepted by the rest of the societies
that they live in. Therefore, both characters represent an individual who stands outside what is
accepted by the majority of the population, which results in varying tensions that are dealt with in
their corresponding works. Following the social norm is equivalent to partaking in the dominant
culture. Those who do not conform to this are a part of the counterculture which is a subgroup that
opposes the lifestyle that is dominant in society. However, the dominant

Ancient Christian Worship By Andrew B. Mcgowan
Zoryana Nichipor Christianity Western Culture Box #390 Word Count: Book Review of Ancient
Christian Worship: Early Christian Practices in Social, Historical, and Theological Perspective
Throughout this book, Andrew B. McGowan thoroughly informs us on each cultural background and
formation of the different types of acts of worship throughout the early Christian church. We see
through this information that the way the Church worships has evolved into something completely
different from what it once was. In one form or another we are forced to appreciate how the early
Christians worshipped and, I would even assert, are challenged to bring these traditions into our own
mentality of worship. If we are to look to the New Testament and how worship is referred to, it is a
great deal about ethos or a Christian way of life, but relatively little about the specifics of distinctive
liturgical practice or performance. In chapter one of McGowan s book, we see a compare and contrast
given with how the early church worshiped more communally as opposed to how we worship today;
which is more aesthetic and internal. McGowan reiterates numerously that worship in the New
Testament is a subject of service, reverence and ethics. They were not merely one sacramental part of
a community or worship life but the central act around or within which others reading and preaching,
prayer and prophecy were arranged. The New Testament was in the setting of a very communal
culture. And

Science has helped improve many people s lifestyle from eating a healthy diet to stopping different
form of disease that are attacking the human body. Science also provides intolerable lifestyle to people
such as the elders as when the elderly have an incurable disease and the elderly are suffering for this
incurable disease and wants to die, but cannot due to science advancement in technology making
impossible to die at that moment. The possible future of science is uncontrollable. The power of
science provides possibility and with this possibility doesn t always generate a good possibility.

The creation with all the religions belief or attachment will suddenly shatter as people relied or set
their whole life around that belief. There are people whom committed suicide because of a belief that
was stated It was the end of the world in May 21, 2011, Judgment day and also went into financial
shambles as those people who believed in their belief sold everything they own and left with nothing.
Rifkin quoted, Genesis could lead to a far different future a biological Tower of Babel and the spread
of chaos throughout the biological world, drowning out the ancient language of creation (312).This
states that with biological creation creates more nonsense as the idea of the beginning creation of life
seem invalid; in doing so, creates the idea of an ordinary human creating the whole world itself, due to
time as time fades away the ancient language of creation. If creationism became true then many
people would changes their ways as they thrives to find a religious purpose where sins or deeds that
they acquired previously won t have any effects against them such as killing a person previously and
hoping that the person that he or she killed won t affected by the idea of eternal darkness after death.

Diction In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Education
Emerson from Education is trying to spread his message that the current school education is not in the
perfect shape but rather in a broken state. Because of the problem, the students are not able to learn as
well. Emerson gets his message out by using diction to strengthen his position and Emerson also
appeals to pathos. In Education , Emerson uses diction as a way to keep audiences engaged in what he
is trying to argue. Emerson uses the words drill and labor to create a hostile tone which enhances his
message that the school system is broken (Emerson). The word drill in this context is used as an
aggressive move. The author uses the word drill instead of teaches because the word drill makes the
school seem like they are trying to

Essay Ad Management and the Recent Turmoil in Financial...
There is a need for high level of consultation, co ordination and co operation in every organization or
business. To this effect, managers all over the world are often faced with the dilemma of effectively
deploying human, material, technological, natural and financial resources to achieve desired
organizational goals and objectives.
The collapse of the financial markets, touching off reverberations in the real economy in the last
months of 2008 has inevitably been described as the worst economic catastrophe since the great
depression of the 1930s. To this effect, many observers have raised several questions such as; which
parties had a hand in the creation of the financial and emerging economic crisis? Who is to blame;
people, systems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The misalignment of the interest of managers with those of the shareholders led to compensation
systems that emphasized on short term returns which lead to harmful behaviors like manipulation of
stock prices and excessive risk taking. This reward system encouraged high risk taking with a myopic
focus on short term revenue and even incentivized manager for their failures. A particular insight can
be drawn from the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) report of 2008 which showed how employees
were compensated with strong incentives to use UBS capital to invest in high yielding mortgage
backed securities. Whilst this was, they failed to provide sufficient incentives to protect the company,
hence, mismatching priorities. This would not have proved costly if only the senior managers of the
firm were wise enough to put in place strong risk measurement and control system.
Another issue, particularly in the line of managing objectives and misalignment of incentive structure
is that of the two major financial institutions in the US; Federal National Mortgage Association
(Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). These institutions,
although government sponsored to stabilize the housing and mortgage market in the US, but also
privately owned, however still berated by the

Similarities And Differences Between Dancing With Wolves...
For this paper I will be comparing Avatar (2009) and Dancing with Wolves (1990) which are two very
acclaimed movies that in a sense are very similar to each other but at the same time do not share the
same themes or story line. Avatar, which is Fantasy/Science fiction movie directed by James Cameron
released on December 18, 2009 being the world s highest grossing film of all time and is one of the
most prosperous movies of the last few years. It has been nominated for nine Academy Awards and
has won three of them. Dancing with Wolves that in the other hand is an Epic Western/Drama movie
released on November 21, 1990 and directed by Kevin Costner. The first thing that could be very
noticeable between these movies is how far apart each movie was released away from each other,
almost a 20 year difference between the releases date. I believe that these two movies have a lot of
common and resemble each other in many ways that could even imagine. In both movies the
protagonists are very similar to each other. But also, some of the themes and aspects that these movies
share are: main characters falling in love, protagonist being introduced to a new civilization and how
both protagonists are leading a battle against a different tribe.
Avatar is a live action film about a human colony that has been established on a distant planet called
Pandora. The humans are going after an uncommon mineral that could settle an ecological crisis that
is affecting planet Earth. However, their plans

Estimated 7 10 billion medical tests are performed each year. Test results play a critical role in health
assessment, influencing the majority of medical decisions. (Hyattsville 2)
Ever since the 1800s, scientists have been able to look and study different diseases to find ways to
cure people. Scientists create new technological advancements to fight these diseases. Ever since then
the race to create technological advancements started more and more technological advancements are
created. These technological advancements have a great impact on our health and have many causes
and effects.
To what effect do technological advancements affect our health?
History
Throughout history, technology has changed the way we survive. As technological advancements
progress more diseases can be treated and eradicated. One company found that technological progress
increases, not decreases. According to the Engineering Systems Division in the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, technological progress increases square root of the logarithmic error growing
linearly with the forecasting horizon at a typical rate of 2.5% per year .( McNerney J, ect Para. 2 ) The
technological progressions are influenced by health and millions of people have been cured due to
new technology. Historically, people would attempt to cure illnesses by magic or bloodletting, which
did not stop the disease. Throughout the history of medical

Patriarchy In Sexual Politics, By Kate Millet
In Sexual Politics, Kate Millet states that patriarchal societies do not derive from human nature, but
are socially constructed. Patriarchy is means of the male gender applied to exploit and oppress the
females. The process of patriarchal control develops since childhood. Since and early age, children
perceive notions of what is proper to each gender from their parents, peers, and society. She asserts
that besides the physical distinctions, there are not differences between male and female. It is the
patriarchal social structure that assigns gender roles. Due to cultural expectations, young males are
encouraged to develop their characteristics to meet with the stereotypes: strong, aggressive, violent,
disciplined, and intelligent, while women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How Clive utilizes gender stereotypes to maintain his power is depicted throughout the first act as he
attempts to keep his wife as well as women in general in a lower status in various ways. For one thing,
Clive assigns a passive and docile role for Betty, which can be seen from the way she has to listen to
everything he says and is not allowed to have opinions. When Betty tells Clive on Joshua that the
servant did not do what she said when she told him to fetch a book, Clive does not even want to listen
to what she has to say. Although he was not there, he interrupts her when she tries to explain the
situation; Betty, please, let me handle this This shows a patriarchal attitude about women s
incompetence in handling things and making decisions. Also in order to keep, his wife in the status
quo, he encourages her to do activities like playing piano and reading poetry which are stereotypically
considered gentle and womanly. The female role assigned by men has become Betty s identity. She
accepts her inferiority to men and behaves what the patriarchal system deems appropriate.

Student Loan Crisis Is A Crisis
Seventy percent of college graduates left school with almost thirty thousand dollars in student loans.
(Johnson, Student Loans ) There is currently a debate about whether or not student loans are a crisis or
if this crisis is just a myth. In the article, Here s Your Crisis:
Student Loan Debt Isn t A Myth, it describes how student loans are a huge crisis, and the article, The
Myth of the Student Loan Crisis is about how college students loans do not amount to a crisis. The
student loan crisis is a legitimate problem, not a myth. College students do not realize the risks they
take when they acquire student loans. Student loans can and do have negative effects on the economy
and there are also hardships the students will face in the future.
One reason that supports the issue of student loans being a crisis is the negative effects on the
economy. For example, students who are in debt cannot spend money on expensive items.
People who want nice cars, jacked up trucks, enormous boats, and other items will not be able to
afford these items. Also, student loans are responsible for the second highest form of consumer debt.
(Denhart, College Crisis Is Crippling ) Higher national debt means fewer jobs and increased interest
rates. Lastly, is the inability to start new businesses, which would benefit the economy, due to income
debt ratio. These three examples show the negative effects on the economy from student loans.
In addition, students will take on these loans without

Unicorn Tapestry Research Papers
The Hunt of the Unicorn (1495 1505), also know as The Unicorn Tapestry, is a series of seven
tapestries depicting the hunt, capture, and killing of a unicorn. Because each tapestry is different their
size varies, ranging from 368 x 378 cm. to 368 x 261 cm. Through out the series of tapestries, the
colors of the tapestry are vivid and rich despite their age. Woven from silk and metallic threads, the
colors range from blood red to hunter green to pale blue and ivory. No space is wasted or devoid of
embellishment. Vegetation surrounds the figures of animals and humans alike, reaching to the ends of
the fabric. No matter the conflicting seasonality of the fruit or flower, every plant and tree is seen at
their peek, in full bloom. The men of hunting party are dressed in their finest clothes, perhaps
unsuitable for the task at hand. The dogs are shown in vigorous action leaping at or away from the
unicorn, and are always seen frozen in a moment of activity. The seven tapestries are displayed in a
specific order: The Start of the Hunt, The Unicorn at the Fountain (fig. 1), The Unicorn Tries to
Escape, The Unicorn Defends Himself (fig. 2), The Unicorn is Tamed by the Maiden (fig. 3), The

The obvious expense put into this work would only support this claim, as benefactor would
presumably want the best artisans working on their investment. The creation of the tapestries involved
more than just a collection of weavers. The concept would have been the work of one person, with the
sketching done by another and the reference painting by yet another artist. Additionally, the threads
would have been specifically dyed for this work, while the metallic threads would have been crafted
by another set of artisans. Together, these separate groups composed the pieces needed for the weavers

Causes Of The 2008 Financial Crisis
The year 2008 was a horrendous year for most, in terms of money. The housing bubble deflated and
the steep drop in prices sent both institutional investors and average investors into financial turmoil.
There is quite a bit of controversy as what actually caused the housing bubble, but in this essay we
will be using the explanation given by John C. Coffee Jr. Here he identified various factors that
worked in tandem to subsequently cause the financial crisis of 2008. The first was the systematic
failure by what he termed a gatekeeper. Which he later defines as financial institutions that provides
verification for investors. In this instance the gatekeeper was the credit agencies who failed to appraise
the actual value of the mortgaged backed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, the industry must ever vigilant of the issues of asymmetric information. While there is
no doubt that mortgages brokers did disclose the terms of their loans whether fixed or adjustable;
foreclosure and transparency may not always be synonymous. To say you have disclosed financial
information in a voluminous document written in esoteric financial jargon doesn t constitute financial
transparency. In addition, by the end of the mortgage crisis much of what would be constituted of due
diligence constituted only a credit check. Although consumer credit behavior can forecast a lot; it
doesn t necessarily give a holistic assessment of risk with the borrower. Another layer that added to
this complex financial meltdown involves the bundling of mortgages securities graded according a
uniform fashion, yet deriving its value from the underlying security (i.e. property on the borrower).
This lead to the bundling of assets that cross contaminated one another and created a toxic
environment for investing. Finally, we must ask ourselves if bailing out large financial institutions that
chose to take risk was a feasible solution. I personally would have liked to have seen a solution similar
to that which was implemented under the Regan administration to resolve the S L crisis in 1980s. As a
policy maker my approach would have been as follows: my first objective would have been to
stabilize the real estate market instead of providing an enormous pool of liquidity to bail out investors,
I would have targeted homeowners directly. Homeowners would have been able to get a third party
appraisal from which to reset their loans. The government would have paid off their loan and
refinanced at the new market value at a fixed rate, with the understanding that a capital gain tax of
10% would be applied to any equity beyond the new value at which the property was

How Is Bilbo A Hero
Many authors communicate to the reader through fictional stories known as myths. These myths, set
in a fictional place or time, are able to identify problems with society today. The popular novel The
Hobbit is a great example of a myth criticizing society today. Although it takes place in a fantasy land
and has creatures that do not exist, it criticizes how we as humans should live our lives as well as
telling us what it means to be a hero. The Hobbit tells us that we should take risks and experience new
paths to make us have a better character. A hobbit is a peaceful creature that likes to live in holes in the
ground; not dirty ones, but clean and organized ones. Bilbo was a common hobbit from the Bagginses
family. People considered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One specific instance is when he meets the trolls. Bilbo is referred to as the burglar . Since Bilbo is the
burglar, he must go and pickpocket the trolls. He is extremely cautious on how he goes about it
because he has never done any task like this before; however, he does end up getting caught. And
when he gets caught, he is afraid. When asked who he was, Bilbo replied, shaking all over, and
wondering how to make owl noises before they throttled him (pg. 34) . Having never experienced this
kind of event before, it was no surprise he was scared. Bilbo was able to talk his way out, although he
was scared the whole time. A little while later, Bilbo is in the caves by the goblins where he gets
trapped and lost in the dark cavern. He was approached by a small, creepy creature called Gollum, but
this time he was not as scared as before. Bilbo was still a little frightened for when he heard Gollum,
for, The hobbit nearly jumped out of his skin (pg. 69). Bilbo did pull a sword on him, but instead
sheathed it shortly after. He exchanged riddles with Gollum to survive, and was able think clearly
because he was not as afraid as he was before. This was the first challenge Bilbo had stood up to meet.
The two events show how Bilbo is starting to gain more confidence and have more bravery. The
instance with the trolls had Bilbo acting afraid, but when faced with Gollum, he was able to be brave

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make matters even more confusing, there are those within the Business Analyst community who have begun to distinguish between business analysts who focus on defining software requirements and those business analysts who are focused on improving business processes. SAP, for example, has set up a website1 for Business Process eXperts (BPXs), a group of analysts with more extensive business process capabilities. This vagueness between BA and BPM roles creates confusion in practice and academia, which impacts on role designs, skills assessment, human resource development, recruitment and professional development. The impact of such was made clear at a Leonardo Process Days 2010 conference panel where BA and BPM role differentiation was reviewed. An outcome of this discussion was a consensus that i) Practitioners struggle to recognise and articulate the skills required (BA, BPM or both?) for various organisational initiatives and how to locate appropriate talent to fill these roles ii) Academics fail to position BA and BPM as separate professions and often bundle them as the same in their course descriptions and marketing iii) Students and prospective candidates for employment vacancies therefore remain confused about the specific skill sets required of a BPM professional a nd/ or a Business Analyst. • 3. Essay on Case Study of Coastline Electrics, UK Introduction The changes endured by Coastline occurred in the very specific context of privatisation. In this perspective, clashes of paradigms are common, in particular in the way knowledge is viewed and exercised as well as between the past and present goals of companies engaged in such process. As described by Grey and Mitev (quoted in Wilson, 1995, p.59): If post industrial society does offer the possibility of decentralization of work and industrial structures, as well as an increase in the quantity of information and/or knowledge, it is important to remember that these changes have emerged in particular circumstances, that is, the countervailing tendencies towards (re)centralization of overall control; an increasing privatization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the fact that engineers power (it is, according to French and Raven s 1959 definition, both a legitimate and expert power) was largely legitimated by their knowledge, and that losing the exclusive exercise of it actually weakened their legitimacy both as professionals and managers. Indeed, engineers managerial dimension was also weakened (although officially reinforced) by the fact that TQM and team working usually comes along with the concept of horizontal surveillance among the individual team members (Wilson, 1995, p.66) in which team members control each others work. Furthermore, TQM procedures and Job Redesign measures (acquiring a part of engineers knowledge) also provide them the power to check their own work individually and therefore change then vertical control process by making them more independent of engineers. The programme Partner Coaching is also a good example of how TQM procedures may lead to a normalisation and therefore to the controllability of individuals, as Wilson demonstrate: The techniques of strengthening a corporate culture become the preventives of contamination of employees by rival values and the alignment of employee purpose with the normative ... • 4. Compare And Contrast The Sniper And Where Have You Gone... Copious bullets, like that of torrential downpour, reign over the battlefield; a setting in which man created through dispute, engulfs each and every individual caught within it. Some are immediately spun into a downward spiral, while with others, it hits them in the midst even if they have built an immunity to war s ways. Two fictional characters, both sharing a similar atmosphere, experience the true affects to war in their own ways. Although war never changes, the individuals do, no matter the situation. This is exemplified through the fictional tales, told by Liam O Flaherty s The Sniper, as well as Tim O Brien s Where Have You Gone Charming Billy, and as the main characters are to each their own story, they bear contradistinction to one another in the aspect of war, personality, and the emotional reactions to war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... War covets the aspect of man that is man itself, for it craves to morph them into mere objects and targets. For many soldiers, they succumb to such a fate; being depleted their ability to feel immediate emotion, they develop primitive, animalistic urges of bloodlust during a time of bloodshed. The aspects of war gravely impacts a person, and as such can be seen in O Flaherty s character the sniper, as well as seen in O Brien s character Private Paul Berlin. The sniper is a victim to the war s cold, emotionless embrace. A Republican soldier, he is, divided from his brothers in arms on the other side, the ones called the Free Staters. Nonetheless, under the circumstances, they all are pawns to Dublin s chess table of a civil war, being played at the mercy of the war s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Cruelty of Female Circumcision According to The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, It is estimated that between 100 million and 140 million girls and women worldwide have received FGC. There are more than 3 million girls at risk of having FGC each year (DHHS). Circumcision can be preformed on both males and females. It is common a common practice among western cultures to preform circumcisions on males. Female circumcision is uncommon and is illegal in most countries and considered a violation of human rights. Male circumcision is done by removing the foreskin around the head of the penis and is usually done 1 2 days after birth. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Male circumcision reduces the risk that a man will acquire HIV from an infected female partner, and also lowers the risk of other STDs, penile cancer, and infant urinary tract infection. For female partners, male circumcision reduces the risk of cervical cancer, genital ulceration, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and HPV. Although male circumcision has risks including pain, bleeding, and infection, more serious complications are rare (1). Another risk includes, decrease in sensitivity. In other words, there are both benefits and risks to male circumcision. The cause of male circumcision is health benefits and religious reasons. With the standards of living for the lower class workers in Mexico as poor as they are, hundreds of men, women and children cross America s southern border illegally every year in search of better opportunities for themselves and their offspring. As the 2016 presidential election has illustrated, America is very split on the issue. Republican nominee Donald Trump has stated that if elected president he will build a massive wall along America s southern border, and that illegal immigrants will be deported en masse. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heidy Sarabia, in her paper titled Perpetual Illegality: Results of Border Enforcement and Policies for Mexican Undocumented Migrants in the United States, argues that heightened border security and legalization restrictions created America s illegal immigration problem in the first place. For example, she states that The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) created mixed status families by only allowing illegal immigrants who had lived in the United States throughout the entirety of 1982 1987 to alter their legal status (Sarabia). She goes on to explain that These mixed status families are one of the most important elements that pull migrants to return to the United States... , and that any attempt to reform immigration that does not address this problem will only serve to create more mixed status families (Sarabia). Additionally, Sarabia explains that illegal immigrants in the United States are settling for longer periods of time than they have in the past for two reasons: First, leaving the United States decreases their opportunities for adjusting their legal status, and second, the intensification of border enforcement has made it more difficult and expensive to return to the United States . So, in order to be with their families, Sarabia argues, and because of the dangers and expense now associated with illegally crossing the border, many undocumented immigrants choose to stay in America as long as they can since obtaining a visa and visiting legally is not an option for many. Sarabia offers an example in the form of Sandra, a Mexican citizen who at the time was trying to enter America to see her sick sister. She attempted to get a visa, but was turned down as many are (Sarabi). Presented with no other options she had little choice but to attempt to cross the border illegally (Sarabia). We are then immediately placed into a fast paced, intense altercation between Tom and Mrs. Wilson which results in a broken nose for Mrs. Wilson. Furthermore, we witness how Tom leaves the scene with no remorse. We are left speechless by Tom s actions. However, this can be read and interpreted differently by a feminist or psychoanalytic reader. Nevertheless, they may have little respect for Nick and Mr.Mckee as the onomatopoeia groaned suggests they feel some sort of grief for Mrs. Wilson. The fact that Mr.Mckee and Nick fled the scene without helping still suggests stereotyping of women as the ones with do the cleanup. This sexist view of leaving the women to deal with consequences and take responsibility for men s actions is seen by feminists as appalling. A psychoanalytic reader might analyse this in a different manner by pointing out the unconscious thinking of the man to leave the scene without helping. Does not want to get involved in the messy situation and rather let the women deal with cleanup. However we do see later on that Nick and Mr.Mckee conscious thoughts spring into action. This imagery includes the use of nature to illustrate how people in the book see themselves and each other. Nature is universal and powerful, so the author cleverly uses nature as another way to emphasize the important points she is trying to make. The way Hurston uses imagery through nature symbolizes the evolution of identity, importance and self appreciation. Hurston s first use of imagery in the book is seen with the pear tree representing young love, something that doesn t last forever. Throughout the duration of the book, Janie is not her actual self, but when she at last opens up and lets her tapped soul come out, she solidifies who she is. Similar to the book, history places freedom as A life of joy and caution, a search for independence: as a people as individuals, and the search for social separation (O Connor). Just as Janie is finding herself, so are many newly freed slaves. They all are just trying to become their genuine selves, not a slave but a person that holds value, and has respect. The current study adds to extant research regarding SCT in a number of ways. Specifically, and as hypothesized, SCT symptoms were significantly associated with poorer study skills, and the associations between SCT and the affective learning strategy and goal strategy components of study skills remained significant even after controlling for symptoms of ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Of note, the association between ADHD inattention and study skills was either greatly reduced (affective strategies) or reduced to nonsignificance (goal strategies) when SCT was added to the regression models. SCT is characterized by daydreaming, mental confusion, low motivation, and slowed thinking which may possibly explain the association between SCT and poor affective learning (which includes attitudes towards school success, time management, and concentration) and goal strategies (which includes academic anxiety, use of homework and test taking strategies, and being able to distill the most critical or important information when learning). Interestingly, SCT was much less strongly correlated with comprehension monitoring strategies (r = .22) than with either affective learning or goal strategies (rs = .65 and .63, respectively), and SCT was no longer significantly associated with comprehension monitoring strategies in the initial regression analysis that controlled for demographics and other psychopathology symptoms. Whether in dress blues, dress whites or khakis, the men and women who dawn the Navy uniform wear it with pride and distinction. Senior Enlisted Leaders must be aware of available organizational clothing and maximize Sailor usage to minimize the financial burden on members. This paper will cover the background of the Navy s uniform requirements and the financial burden required to maintain them, offer discussion on the impact it has on personnel and recommendations for mitigating these impacts. Problem The U.S. Navy provides an initial issue of uniforms to all members upon accession into the service, however the work schedule and working environment reduces wear life. The problem is Sailors are forced to pay the high cost of maintaining and replacing uniforms required for daily use. The U.S. Navy provides 3 sets of Navy Working Uniforms (NWU) and 2 sets of Navy Service Uniforms (NSU) (NAVPERS 15665I). This allotment does not meet the daily use requirements nor are they durable enough to endure the rigors of the work environment and required laundering. The topic of change and improvement means a lot to me when it comes to current issues in media policy in general, and I found myself very intrigued by what Malcolm Gladwell had to say about the laziness, easiness and security that comes with being an online activist in this century. I sincerely believe that media activism is not getting the credit it deserves in a day and age where the internet is such a powerful tool to bring people closer together to do outstanding things. This being said, there are several arguments on either side of this debate on activism. In this paper I would like to take Gladwell s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By saying this, Rapping is arguing that television pays an important role in media activism. But with this being said, who has control over information shared on the television? Certainly the control is not in the individuals who are activists, but rather is in the hands of corporations and the government. Media, in a way makes it harder for activists to have their voices heard, and even taken seriously. Ryan goes on to write Today, the mass media, especially TV are among the most important institutions maintaining, reinforcing and reproducing existing inequities in power. Since media controls the range of views to which audiences are exposed, media coverage can obscure and can even reverse public opinion towards repressive social policies (Ryan 7). This statement, indeed reinforces the idea that the media controls views by swaying the public s opinion on political topics. For example, the recent war in Syria has been drastically skewed when it comes to North American TV media stations. Not only are we being told that troops going over there to fight is okay, but we are also being told that Syrian refugees should not be allowed in North America. This is quite a hot topic at the moment, and either way, you can see how the media is often times completely one sided and biased. This, in my opinion makes it very hard for media activism to take place, especially on television. He is someone who ultimately dies at the end of the play and is presented as a fallen hero in this Greek style tragedy. As the scenes progress, we discover that his feeling for Catherine are more than merely paternal love. Despite this, Miller provides us with reasons to still be somewhat be sympathetic towards him. One way in which Miller makes us feel sympathy towards Eddie, is through his kind behaviour which is shown in Act One. On page 15 he says he was a good man as he had to be in a life that was hard and even. He worked on the piers when there was work, he brought home his pay and lived. This quotation is early on in the play, and gives us the impression that Eddie is a simple character but despite this Alfieri still seems to respect him. This means that before we have discovered for ourselves the characteristics of him, Miller has used the tool of Alfieri to influence our judgement. The adjective good suggests that Miller wanted us to believe that Eddie isn t a character we should feel no sympathy towards. This can be seen once again at the end of the play when Alfieri tells us that I will morn him. This is said in the closing speech in the play, so holds a weighty significance. The verb choice Morn tells us that Miller wanted our last thoughts about Eddie not to be completely negative. Miller creates Alfieri as a character who s judgement the reader can trust, and so we are inclined to feel some sympathy towards Eddie as we see that Alfieri does. • 19. Eliot s The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay Individuals strive to be a part of the dominant culture in their society by being a member of the governing group who is in the majority or has more power than other groups. No one wants to be an outcast from their society because they do not fit into the mainstream social customs. Being that the dominant culture is accepted without any opposition, when members of groups that are not a part of this already established culture are presented the possibility of conflicts or tensions might arise. Either the individual themselves will feel a developed sense of anxiety over what others will think or the rest of society will decide that they must do something to deal with this individual s status. The characters of Homer in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Prufrock in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock are both portrayed as cultural outsiders. Although the reason that they are seen as cultural outsiders is different, neither one of the characters is truly accepted by the rest of the societies that they live in. Therefore, both characters represent an individual who stands outside what is accepted by the majority of the population, which results in varying tensions that are dealt with in their corresponding works. Following the social norm is equivalent to partaking in the dominant culture. Those who do not conform to this are a part of the counterculture which is a subgroup that opposes the lifestyle that is dominant in society. However, the dominant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mcgowan Zoryana Nichipor Christianity Western Culture Box #390 Word Count: Book Review of Ancient Christian Worship: Early Christian Practices in Social, Historical, and Theological Perspective Throughout this book, Andrew B. McGowan thoroughly informs us on each cultural background and formation of the different types of acts of worship throughout the early Christian church. We see through this information that the way the Church worships has evolved into something completely different from what it once was. In one form or another we are forced to appreciate how the early Christians worshipped and, I would even assert, are challenged to bring these traditions into our own mentality of worship. If we are to look to the New Testament and how worship is referred to, it is a great deal about ethos or a Christian way of life, but relatively little about the specifics of distinctive liturgical practice or performance. In chapter one of McGowan s book, we see a compare and contrast given with how the early church worshiped more communally as opposed to how we worship today; which is more aesthetic and internal. McGowan reiterates numerously that worship in the New Testament is a subject of service, reverence and ethics. They were not merely one sacramental part of a community or worship life but the central act around or within which others reading and preaching, prayer and prophecy were arranged. A particular insight can be drawn from the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) report of 2008 which showed how employees were compensated with strong incentives to use UBS capital to invest in high yielding mortgage backed securities. The first thing that could be very noticeable between these movies is how far apart each movie was released away from each other, almost a 20 year difference between the releases date. I believe that these two movies have a lot of common and resemble each other in many ways that could even imagine. In both movies the protagonists are very similar to each other. But also, some of the themes and aspects that these movies share are: main characters falling in love, protagonist being introduced to a new civilization and how both protagonists are leading a battle against a different tribe. In the article, Here s Your Crisis: Student Loan Debt Isn t A Myth, it describes how student loans are a huge crisis, and the article, The Myth of the Student Loan Crisis is about how college students loans do not amount to a crisis. The student loan crisis is a legitimate problem, not a myth. College students do not realize the risks they take when they acquire student loans. Student loans can and do have negative effects on the economy and there are also hardships the students will face in the future. One reason that supports the issue of student loans being a crisis is the negative effects on the economy. For example, students who are in debt cannot spend money on expensive items. People who want nice cars, jacked up trucks, enormous boats, and other items will not be able to afford these items. Also, student loans are responsible for the second highest form of consumer debt. While there is no doubt that mortgages brokers did disclose the terms of their loans whether fixed or adjustable; foreclosure and transparency may not always be synonymous. To say you have disclosed financial information in a voluminous document written in esoteric financial jargon doesn t constitute financial transparency. In addition, by the end of the mortgage crisis much of what would be constituted of due diligence constituted only a credit check. Although consumer credit behavior can forecast a lot; it doesn t necessarily give a holistic assessment of risk with the borrower. Another layer that added to this complex financial meltdown involves the bundling of mortgages securities graded according a uniform fashion, yet deriving its value from the underlying security (i.e. property on the borrower). This lead to the bundling of assets that cross contaminated one another and created a toxic environment for investing. Finally, we must ask ourselves if bailing out large financial institutions that chose to take risk was a feasible solution. I personally would have liked to have seen a solution similar to that which was implemented under the Regan administration to resolve the S L crisis in 1980s. As a policy maker my approach would have been as follows: my first objective would have been to stabilize the real estate market instead of providing an enormous pool of liquidity to bail out investors, I would have targeted homeowners directly. Homeowners would have been able to get a third party appraisal from which to reset their loans.
