Running a business is about more than just making money. It requires adequate consideration to a
number of issues, of which ethics is most certainly one. As a business grows and becomes more
significant, it impacts the lives of people in so many ways. But without a clear understanding of
business ethics, a company can lose its business by ruining its reputation and alienating employees,
suppliers and the local community around it. With recent expansions in global businesses and the
decrease of trade barriers worldwide, the importance of ethics in business has been further underlined.

Chiquita Brand values integrity and so it should be very transparent with its workers about the reality
they are dealing with. Employees who are not comfortable to work under such conditions should be
free to leave, with an appropriate severance package to help them in the transition. The company
should also hire a security team with the money they were suppose to pay off the AUC with, even if
they can t afford the highest protection. This is to provide the best possible environment for the
existing employees until the company finds a better solution.
For the long run, Chiquita should not operate in a country with such corruption and unrest. It should
immediately begin to review its plans and re strategize. It can either explore moving to another
location where it can start new banana plantations. Neighboring countries in South America like
Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Guatemala are some of the top producing banana nations in the
world, even higher than Columbia. Or it can choose to expand one of its other subsidiaries, so it can
recover its lost production from Columbia.
Chiquita should gradually start moving out of Columbia as soon as possible. It should also offer its
employees a job wherever they decide to relocate. The employee can choose to move or settle for a
suitable amount. Wherever they go, the company should provide a descent and safe environment for
its workers. This is the cost of being ethical. It not always

Nurse Retention And Retention
Many organizations have realized the key to their effectiveness lies in their ability to recruit and retain
capable nurses. Retention is a process that should be started before a nurse is hired and needs to be
continued until the nurse resigns.
Renewed attention has been directed at retention of nurses in a multigenerational workforce over the
past 10 to 20 years (Palumbo et al., 2009). The turnover rate of a new graduate ranges from 22.6% to
60% in the first year (Mills Mullins, 2008; Van Wyngeeren Stuart, n.d.), the average age of the nurse
is 45 years, and nurses begin to phase into retirement beginning at age 55 years.
In light of these facts, it is little wonder that nursing has begun to focus attention on expand¬ing
retention programs beyond the promotion of job satisfaction, safety, respect, and financial security
plans, and gain sharing (Palumbo et al., 2009) to the development of infrastructure services that meet
the diverse needs of current employees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today more than ever it is imperative that nurses and other health care workers experience a sense of
community in the workplace because many spend more time at work than at any other single place.
General strategies commonly used for nurse retention of new and experienced nurses are identified in
Box 20 2. According to a study conducted by Palumbo and colleagues (2009), although common
retention expecta¬tions have been identified as important to nurses of all ages, several difference were
noted related to the perceived significance of various retention strategies reported by generational
groups (Box

Was The Atomic Bomb Justified
The Atomic Bombs; The Justification One of the most controversial and heavily scrutinized issue of
the twentieth century was President Harry S. Truman s decision to unleash atomic bombs on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The motives behind Truman s actions are shrouded in controversy
as top military officials publicly denounced the use of such a disastrous weapon. There is
overwhelming evidence supporting both sides of the decision, as historians are split in opinion. The
United States had been using conventional bombing to try to push Japan over the edge to surrender,
but with countless Japanese civilians loyal to their country, invading Japan proved to be more
problematic than first thought. Harry S. Truman made the ultimate decision of dropping the atomic
bomb in hopes that it would end the war, but the amount of casualties caused by it has historians
questioning if it was morally right, The bomb was unfortunate, but it was the only means to bring
Japan to a surrender, historian Sadao Asada states (Bomb 9). Truman s decision to drop the atomic
bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justifiable because they would ultimately lead to the end of
the war and would demonstrate U.S. supremacy. The U.S. continued conventional bombing in the
1940s but determined that it would not be enough to cause Japan to come to an unconditional
surrender. Japanese military leaders strongly opposed the idea of surrendering while political leaders
urged for the country to surrender

Entitlement In A Few Good Men
Professor of American Literature Sarah Churchwell once said, People who are given whatever they
want soon develop a sense of entitlement and rapidly lose their sense of proportion. In the famous
movie A Few Good Men, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, who is masterfully played by Jack Nicholson,
exudes arrogance in his every action throughout the crime fiction thriller. Furthermore, Lieutenant
Daniel Kaffee uses his late father s past occupation of United States Attorney General to obtain his
own sense of entitlement and invincibility. Two independent scenarios occur in the film that support
this theory of entitlement; three different decorated authors also contain evidence as to why this might
be the case for Colonel Jessup and Lieutenant Kaffee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene refers to a situation early on in the film when Lieutenant Kaffee is late to a meeting with
his fellow comrades. Unprepared and disrespectful, he is still assigned a case to defend two marines
who have killed another. No punishment for neither being late to the meeting nor being unprepared
and disrespectful to his equals. Zimbardo and Milgram alike would likely begin by both regressing to
their previous points in proving that submission to a person causes the entitlement feeling in that
person s mind; both of which concluded with these results in their respective experiments (Z M
84,113). However, specialized writer and editor, Kori Ellis, would refute that this is the only reason
that Kaffee feels as entitled and invincible that he indeed feels. Spoiled kids often develop into self
absorbed adults with a lack of self control and a major sense of entitlement, she writes. Furthermore,
she illustrates that these spoiled children, as adults, carry this sense of entitlement throughout their
lives causing them to be disliked and frowned upon in the work force (Ellis). Quick, concurring
comments would likely be made by School Age Children Expert Katherine Lee when she discusses
the effects on children as a result to a lack of discipline throughout her article, Surprising Reasons
Why We Need to Discipline Our Children. Discipline is essential to a child s proper development and
a lack of discipline is detrimental, she illustrates. This causes the child to struggle respecting others,
similar to how Kaffee feels throughout the duration of the film especially coming to focus in the
meeting scene discussed (Lee). Lieutenant Kaffee s father, as previously mentioned, was the attorney
general of the United States: To put this in perspective, the only authority to this position is the
President of the United States. There was

Chlamydia Trachomatis And Its Effects On The United States...
Chlamydia trachomatis is a bacterium that is now recognized as the most prevalent and among the
most damaging of all sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) seen in the United States today
(Thompson, n.d.). There are various factors that place college students at a higher risk of acquiring
Chlamydia such as: race, age, gender, and environmental factors. The increase in the number of cases
that are being reported is direct reflection of the success of the free to low cost testing programs that
are available for college students at their college campus and community. Lastly, further research is
essential in order to verify the efficacy and effectiveness of instituted educational programs and a
correlation with higher awareness and education leads to a reduction of Chlamydia incidence and
prevalence in the future. STDs place a significant economic strain on the U.S. healthcare system.
According to CDC conservatively estimates, the lifetime cost of treating eight of the most common
STDs contracted in just one year is $15.6 billion (2013). Each year, more than $1 billion in direct and
indirect costs are expended on Chlamydia infections in the United States. Many of these costs result
from the management of women with PID and its complications (Thompson, n.d.). Further growth in
the economic burden of chlamydial infections will occur as these infections become more prevalent.
Although chlamydia screening is expanding, many women who are at risk are still not being tested,
thus,

The Theory Of An Nominal Price Of The Existence Long Run...
Due to the fact that short term nominal price rigidities, the movements of nominal exchange rate result
in movements of real exchanger rate in the short run. Balassa Samuelson model is the first and most
popular model for rationalizing the existence long run deviations from PPP, which depends upon the
assumption that the equilibrium exchange rate is determined by the traded good prices. The underlying
argument of this model is that, both developed countries (DC) and less developed countries (LDC)
produces traded and non traded goods, labour mobility implies that wages should be equalized
between these two sectors. They argue that the price levels in DC tend to be higher than LDC when all
countries price levels converted to dollars at nominal exchange rate, which dues to the fact that DC
have higher absolute productivity levels compared with LDC, also because DC are relatively more
productive in the traded goods sector, while productivity levels are similar in their respective non
traded goods sector (Balassa, 1964, cited in Hallwood and Macnonald, 2000).
The concentration of productivity in traded goods sector in the fast growing economy will cause wage
increase in the traded goods sector, so the prices of traded goods remains constant and LOP holds with
a fixed nominal exchange rate. However, if there is no correspondent productivity rise in the non
traded sector, then the overall price levels must be raised in order to cover the wage increase for
workers in non traded

Milestones Child Development
The child is developing many different characteristics and milestones. For example, the child is
developing social skills by talking with her animals and the other little people around her. The child is
talking with her friend even though the child is using the animals to have the conversion with her
friend. The child is using the toys to learn what she can say to other by watching how her friend used
the other toys to react to what the child has said. In a way the child is learning what is socially
acceptable, like when the child said something rude to the friend s toy, and the friend used the toy she
was playing with to tell the child what she had just done was mean and the friend acted like the other
toys were mad at the childes toys. The

Benefits Of Cooperative Learning For Student Engagement
Moreover, despite all those well documented benefits of cooperative learning, many teachers still do
not prefer to use this pedagogical practice in class, stated by Baines, Blatchford, and Kutnik (2003).
The fact is that the cooperative learning requires teachers to have high awareness of students learning,
good control of students challenging behaviors.
Based on the knowledge on cooperative learning, the approach of group work is introduced in the
following paragraphs as the chosen pedagogical approach for language teaching practice in stage 4.
Group work is an instructional strategy that allows teachers to address both intellectual and social
learning goals (Cohen, 1994; Galton, Hargreaves, Pell, 2009). The approach will be analyzed from
two aspects, one is the impact on students social and attitudinal improvements, and the other aspect is
on the academic gains.
Generally, Stage 4 is known as the transition stage. As emphasized in the Melbourne Declaration, the
effective transitions between primary and secondary schools are an important aspect of ensuring
student engagement (2008, p. 12). Student motivation and engagement in these years is critical, and
can be influenced by tailoring approaches to teaching, with learning activities and learning
environments that specifically consider the needs of middle year s students.
As required by the K 10 language syllabus (2003) for language learning in Stage 4, the learning ought
to promote a fair and just society that values

Lucretius Beliefs
Epicurus supported that the images people had for gods were varying due to the different
preconceptions that had been implanted to every person separately. Very often there were false
convictions expressed by people even if their preconceptions reflected their own natural goals.
Lucretius protested against voices who presented gods as having evil intents and as prone to partiality
and fury: Unhappy human race, to attribute such behavior, and bitter wrath too, to the gods! What
lamentations did they lay up for themselves in those days, what wounds for us, what tears for our
descendants ? Moreover, Lucretius stated: Unless you expel these ideas from your mind and drive far
away beliefs unworthy of the gods and alien to their tranquillity, ... Show more content on

Even Epicurus followers were confused and perplexed by Epicurus theology such as Lucretius and
Cicero s Vellius who combined information and syllogisms that satisfied realists as well as idealists.
Both interpretative parties had their own reasons to attach Epicurus both to the realistic and the
idealistic context and both of them had to defend their theories against arguments that worth
consideration. I personally believe that Epicurus was more an idealist than a realist. He obviously
stated that there are gods a statement that could easily describe him as a realist but the fact that he
encouraged people to construct the conception of god and that their true nature, lifestyle and way of
thinking were completely unknown to people compel me to believe that Epicurus was idealist and
gods were merely thought constructs articulating people s unrealistic view of the life they desired.
Philodemus mentioned that Epicurus involved himself in all the traditional festival and sacrifices .
However, this attestation does not prove that Epicurus was surely devoutly religious and believed that
gods were existing living beings; he could have acted in that way to give a boost to his social status or
even to protect himself from the dangerous accusations of

Causes Of Treaty Of Versailles
Treaty of Versailles On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by a
Serbian terrorist group. As a result, World War I began and lasted approximately 4 years. This was a
war between Germany and the Allied Nations. On June 28, 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed
by Germany and the Allied Nations. This treaty was a peace document that would end World War I.
Ironically, Treaty of Versailles was the principal cause of World War II.
Treaty of Versailles stated that Germany had to take the blame for causing World War I (World War
Two Causes). It also forced Germany to lose territory, pay for the damages caused by the war, and
their air force was forbidden. As a result, the Treaty of Versailles weakened Germany. The treaty stated
that one of the ways that Germany could pay for the war expenses was by giving other countries some
of their goods. As a result, Germany s economy worsened. The German people were unhappy with the
treaty because they believed that it was unjust and biased. They thought that it was unnecessarily
punitive and profoundly shameful (Hamner). In distress, People were dissatisfied with the government
and voted to power a man who promised to rip up the Treaty of Versailles (World War Two Causes).
This man was Adolf Hitler. Hitler s goal was to eliminate the Treaty of Versailles. He wanted to fix the
problems that the treaty had caused like poverty, unemployment, and inflation. He also wanted to get

European Nations that Were Formed Due to Nationalist Ideas
The countries in Europe were not always the way they are today. Before about the middle of the
nineteenth century Europe consisted of various regions ruled by dynastic empires. These monarchies
had absolute power over their subjects and there was no sense of nationalism or the idea of betterment
of the general population. Various social and technological changes helped pave the way for ideas of
nationalism. Although the idea of the creation of the nation state began with the advent of the French
Revolution but it took more than a century for the ideas of nationalism to become concrete enough to
form the independent national state of France. the concept of Nationalism spread throughout Europe
and slowly led to the creation of the modern democratic systems that we see around the world today,
in the early 20th century. After the French revolution, feudalism and liberalism fell away paving the
way for nationalism.
Nationalism is a belief system that creates a sense of association to a common purpose amongst all the
members of a nation. It brings together people of various ideas and intellects, under one nation with a
common purpose bettering themselves and creating a better life for its members. National Flags,
anthems and such things help to increase the sense of belonging to a nation.
Among the many nations that were formed due to nationalist ideas, was Germany. The formal
unification of the Germany as nation state took place in 1871. Formerly it was part of the Holy Roman

The Affect Of The Declaratory Act On The Ohio River Valley
The French and British were always enemies and the British wanted a land called the Ohio River

the British won. The Native Americans that lived in the Ohio River Valley were not thrilled and to
prevent war with the Native Americans the king created the proclamation of 1763. This set an
imaginary line between the British and the Ohio River Valley. This was intended to keep the British
out of the Ohio River Valley so the American Indians and british wouldn t have to go to war. After the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Union In Malaysia
INTRODUCTION In the 20th century, trade unions is an important labour force through which
working people have a collective voice at work and an avenue to equality, fair treatment and economic
security. However, in the 21st century, it was argued that organised labour seems heading for
extinction (The Economist, 21 September 2006) as cited in Schnabel (2012). It seems that trade unions
in various countries, including Malaysia, are slowly declining its density and membership. Although
trade union has always been the main social institutions in societies represent worker interest, the

12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged.
They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were
actively listening and participating during the station time.
13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc.
throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final

they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to articulate a
response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the students as a

Research Paper On Sucker By Carson Mcculler
Sucker Research paper In the story Sucker, by Carson McCullers, you see heavy use of the human
condition that every negative action originates from a negative mood or emotion and every positive
reaction comes from a positive mood or emotion. In the story the elder cousin Pete treated his younger
cousin, Sucker AKA Richard, based on how he was treated by Maybelle. When Maybelle treated Pete
poorly and ignored him, Pete did the same to Sucker. This caused the young boy Richard to develop
emotional problems, which caused his relationship with his cousin to be broken and tainted, due to the
cascade of negativity. Sometimes this look in his eyes makes me almost believe that if Sucker could
he would kill me. (McCullers, 3). In an article by the Daily mail.com there was a report of the effects
of brotherly bullying, and its perpetrators and the victims. The definition included deliberate nasty and

provide finance which is why they are still a major contributor in our world. One of the United
Nations biggest accomplishments is stabilizing the world and creating a better world for future
generations. Many volunteers and peacekeepers are helping civilians to get through their struggles by
helping them retrieve their basic human rights. Unfortunately, many countries are so corrupt that
nothing can be done to help the innocent civilians. However, the UN has made mistakes in the past
and are constantly trying to improve on what can be done within certain corrupt countries. For
example, in Sudan multiple villages were attacked where many civilians lived which resulted in close
to 300,000 people getting killed. The UN did not want to get involved so they asked members of the
African Union to negotiate. This is a clear example that if the government wants to attack, they will
attack. The best solution is for peacekeepers to keep their heads down and stay away rather than
getting involved and potentially getting killed. The war in Sudan has been continuous for decades and

Difference Between Cricket And Cricket
Baseball vs Cricket
To many people think baseball and cricket are very similar, but the rules of hitting, fielding, and
running are completely different. They bother having someone hitting the ball and throwing, but the
traditions of the sports are what separate them completely. The two sports are argued which one is the
greatest of all time. Baseball is more common in America then Cricket. Baseball is known as the
pastime of American. It began in the late 1800 s and is very popular today. There are many different
types of baseball played all over. They go from tee ball to Major league baseball. Kids basically grew
up playing this sport in American. Hitting in baseball starts when the pitcher toes the rubber. The
pitcher throws the ball however he wants, as long as he does not deceive a runner that is on base with
his motion toward home plate. The hitter uses a round bat to hit the round ball squarely. The batter can
hit the ball wherever he wants or can. For the batter to be called safe he has to reach first before the
ball reaches first before he does. Each person who touches home is considered one run. The hitter can
hit the ball and stop at first base to get a single, stop at second for a double, third for a triple, or home
for a home run. A hitter can also get a home run by hitting the ball over the fence. That is the ways a
hitter can score in baseball. Fielding is completely different in baseball then cricket. There are 9
fielders on the field at once.

Summary Of Night By Primo Levi
Night, offers a similar discussion as Survival in Auschwitz but is told in a different style than how
Primo Levi told his accounts of Auschwitz. The main difference is that Elie Wiesel was captured with
this family while Primo Levi was captured on his own without family or friends present with him.
Wiesel being captured with his family members turns the novel Night from an written account to a
true family survival story. Primo Levi gives a reader a chance to become involved into a lone survivor
experience of what would they have done in order to survive what Levi went through. Rather Wiesel
shared experiences act similar to when watching the film The Impossible . It gives a element that any
great survival stories provide for people and that is what people are willing do to protect the ones they
love. Elie Wiesel s , Night gives that part as well as the feelings of fear that that come when a family
member is in danger and when they are loss. In addition to how do they stay strong themselves to
make sure that their sacrifice or death was not for nothing. As mention earlier, Night is Elie Wiesel
personal perspective and shared experiences of what life was like for him and his family in Nazi
concentration camps of Auschwitz and Buchenwald. Given that he does with his family the text offers
a reader a chance to learn about his family and what he recalled life was like prior to being captured
and sent to Auschwitz. One day I asked my father go find me a master who

The Pros And Cons Of Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie Review
Different from other sites, Survey Junkie is actually not a survey panel but what happens when you
opt to join them, they will connect you to other survey panels. Hence, it acts as the link to use if you
would wish to access other sites to earn money through surveys. The other thing about this site is that
you will not be guided on how to make money through surveys and the only thing you get when you
join is a list of survey panels that you can access.
Complaints associated with Survey Junkie
Meaningless membership
When you join, they will require you to furnish them with all your details yet they are not a survey
platform since all they provide is a list. This ought not to be the case if all your details ... Show more

Conclusion
The process of making payments and including coupon codes as well is just somewhat suspicious and
evidently, this appears more like a way of playing with one s mind innocently. This ought not to be the
case if there is nothing to hide but if you are intending to partner with this site or any other that uses
such a strategy, this should obviously capture your attention.
Survey Junkie has also found a way of working with the twists and turns of up selling, funny
membership and junk mails that are at the core of how the site benefits from each of these. It is
basically a whole mix up of ways and means that are basically targeted on one thing; to ensure the
owner gains from the pattern adopted and to keep those who have joined in close, by rewarding them
once in a while.
It is not all bad with this site and neither is it all good because based on these aspects, it is not one of
the best anyway. One is better placed opting for other sites compared to Survey Junkie and though it
might not necessarily be scam, you might either share in their bigger cake or end up

A Reflection On Awakening Alcoholic Anonymous Meeting
In this paper, I will be writing about my reflection and reaction to an Upon Awakening Alcoholic
Anonymous meeting which was held at the Unity of Sedona Church, 65 Deer Trail in Sedona, Arizona
on Thursday, October 29, 2015. This meeting was held at 7:30 AM in the morning. The meeting
consisted of an eleven step grouping of middle aged men and women ranging from ages 30 to 65 years
old. There were seven men and thirteen women whose purpose was to practice prayer through the
eleventh step of the Big Book. The meeting started out with an introduction of everyone who was
present. They stated their names and said they were alcoholics and how long they had been sober.
They continued to go over old business, and then proceeded to read from the Alcoholics Anonymous
Big Book, the Third Step Prayer. The prayer was about releasing one s self of their bondage. A gong
wash was performed, followed by fifteen minutes of meditation. Participants came forward to share
their reflection of the Third Step Prayer. Jean was the first one to come forward to speak and her
thoughts were; One s self must be the one to relieve the bondage to and from one s self s defects. One
must learn to discover, undercover, and discard one s bondage by believing within. A woman named
Deb got up and informed us that she was a servant to her creativity. She claimed that she needed to
find regularity and she welcomed discomfort. Nancy didn t under stand the Third Step Prayer. She

Similarities Between Oceania And North Korea
The Democratic People s Republic of Korea^ One of the more secretive countries in the world is
North Korea, in a lot of ways, Kim s regime is similar to that of Big Brother s. Outlawed actions or
crimes against the regime lead to either death or forced labour camps. People are constantly surveyed
by the regime and punished if they step out of line. Another similarity is that both countries are short
on supplies, while Oceania is short on things like boots and razor blades, the North Koreans are
having shortage of food, starving many. Lies, stories and manipulation both play big parts in these two
countries. Oceania edit the past by changing news articles, deleting all contradictory information and

The two, however are quite similar. In Russia, there are extremely harsh punishments for disobeying
the law, there are forced labour camps in Siberia for their criminals and North Korean criminals.
Political opponents are eliminated immediately, either locked up in jail, sent to a forced labour camp
or executed, which is why Putin has served for eighteen years. Like Oceania, Russia is also the biggest
country in the world, although most of it is uninhabited. Surveillance, though, is somewhat relaxed,
with one CCTV camera having to monitoring every seven hundred and twenty one people. Although
they have a declining economy, Russia are increasing their military expenditure, working with China

The author also creates an effective atmosphere of fear by showing that doctors, who are almost
always viewed as being superhuman, can so easily contract this virus.
The Hot Zone Summary | Part 1, Chapter 3 Diagnosis Summary
Several years later, the author visits with Dr. David Silverstein, who has gained a huge reputation in
Nairobi. Silverstein relates a 2 a.m. phone call that informed him that Dr. Musoke s blood tested
positive for Marburg, a virus about which little is known. It was named after a town in Germany
where, in 1967, citizens contracted the virus from monkeys transported from Uganda to a local
laboratory. Many of the monkeys had been brought in by a trader who was more interested in money
than the health of the animals.
The virus is different from most because rather than being ball shaped, it is a filovirus, or has tendrils
like hair or worms that tangle together. They can also roll up into loops, a very unique trait. The other
well known filovirus is Ebola. Marburg kills one in four humans who receive medical treatment and is
so dangerous that the international community immediately tries to identify the source. The best they
can do is to hypothesize that it was a hot island in western Africa populated by sick monkeys that were
trapped and sold in other countries. This is also a popular theory about the origin of HIV and AIDS.
The viruses mutate enough to spread from monkeys to humans and can have a catastrophic effect.

Death Of A Salesman Compare And Contrast Essay
Death of a Salesman is a play written by Arthur Miller in 1949. In 1966 CBS created a film adaptation
of the play. The plot is centered on Willy Loman, an aging salesman who starts to lose his sanity at the
end of his career. Willy starts having hallucinations of people and events that have happened in his
life. After losing his job, Willy ends up taking his own life to leave behind a pecuniary life insurance
payout of $20,000 to his family. The characters dialogue is nearly the same in both the Miller and CBS
version of the play. However, the actors speak their lines with certain emotions that cannot be properly
expressed in writing alone. The appearance of the performers communicated even more information
that is not mentioned in the written ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of act two, Willy wakes up to a promising day for him and his sons. He is dressed in
a neat black suit and tie. However, Willy suffers several failures and disappointments throughout the
day. By the time he is contemplating suicide at the end of the act, Willy s suit is ruffled, wrinkled, or
removed. His slovenly appearance reflects the bedlam occurring in his mind. On the other hand,
Charley and Howard are both wearing tidy brown suits. The difference in their appearances highlights
the contrasts of mental states between Willy and the two men. Charley and Howard are both sane,
accomplished men with successful families. The actors facial expressions portray additional
information about characters not explicitly stated in the written version of the play. Willy constantly
looks disoriented or distracted, and he can never seem to focus on anybody. This gives the impression
of a disarrayed mind in a deteriorating state. During the requiem, Linda has a terrible look of grief on
her face when she is kneeling over Willy s grave. The vivid look of misery on her face is more
impactful than simply reading about her sorrow. These seemingly small details create a big difference
between the written and video versions of the

The Impact Of Media On Youtube And Facebook
Since the advent of the internet and the yearly increase in connectivity shrinking the digital divide,
information and media have become increasingly accessible to many more people. Our personal
consumption of media has become extremely tailored due to individualization. With web based mass
alternative media offer increased range, immediacy, and ease over traditional alternatives (Owens and
Palmer, 2003; p 339) we are given the opportunity to customize both our virtual and tangible
experience. The development of this multi modal communication can be seen by the plethora of online
media vehicles such as Youtube, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Twitter, and Facebook; new unifications of
creators, large companies, and politicians have begun to utilize these mediums to fulfil their relevant
agendas.
An example of this would be the development of politics on Youtube and Facebook. The
communicative technology fosters more transparency and authenticity from politicians, inhibiting
their ability to control information/image while providing previously passive audiences the
opportunity to become active in both creating and sharing dialogue while challenging claims made in
the mass media. Politicians have discovered how to govern through social media, developing policy
support and managing public opinion via direct, unfiltered communication on YouTube (McMilan,
2015, pp 1 2). Politicians such as Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are constantly being re

History of Auguste Escoffier and Marie Careme
Auguste Escoffier, The emperor of Chefs
Auguste Escoffier was born in Villeneuve Loubet, the Provence region of France in October 28, 1846.
When he turned 13, his father took him to Nice where he apprenticed at a restaurant owned by his
uncle, thus beginning the illustrious career that he enjoyed for the next 62 years.
His culinary career took him many places, from the early years at the fashionable Le Petit Moulin
Rouge and several other restaurants in Paris, to Monte Carlo, Switzerland, and London. In 1870, when
the Franco Prussian War began, Escoffier was called to duty in the army where he served as Chef de

As well as making changes in the culinary world, Escoffier undertook several philanthropic endeavors
including the organization of programs to feed the hungry and programs to financially assist retired
chefs. Escoffier received several honors in his lifetime. The French government recognized Escoffier
in 1920 by making him a Chevalier of the Legion d Honneur, and later an Officer in 1928. The honors
due Escoffier can be summed up by a quote from Germany s Kaiser Wilhelm II when he told
Escoffier, I am the Emperor of Germany, but you are the emperor of chefs. With his wife, Delphine
Daffis, Escoffier retired to Monte Carlo in 1921, there he died on February 12, 1935.
Marie Antoine Carême, Chef of kings and the king of Chefs.
In March 1811, Napoleon and his new wife, Marie Louise, welcomed the birth of a boy, the longed for
male heir needed to carry the Bonaparte line forward. A grand feast was ordered to celebrate the
christening of the young King of Rome. Only a year earlier, a young pastry chef named Marie Antoine
Carême had dazzled the court with a still talked about wedding cake. For the christening he would out
do himself again. Using spun sugar, confectioner s paste, cream, and meringues all dyed in varying
shades of blue, rose, and gold, Carême created a magnificent replica of a Venetian gondola.

My microclimate report of My Garden
Microclimate is the climate of a small area within a larger area, my garden. I was given the task of
investigating the microclimate of my garden and recording what I found. The warmest place was site 3
with a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius In site 3 there is a low albedo so heat is absorbed therefore
the temperature is higher here on a warm day the aspect of this site is south west so this results in this
part of the garden being warmer, because places facing the sun are warmer than those in the shadows,
in Britain the sun rises in the east and moves through the south, so at midday the sun would be directly
facing south making my garden hotter. We use this to an advantage by setting seats up in the ... Show

Precipitation levels change over my garden with site 1 collecting the most over that night with 5mm of
rainfall and site 9 collecting the lest with 1.2 mm of rainfall. The amount of precipitation in site 5 is
mainly due to being under a gutter so all the precipitation would come down the gutter here therefore
we don t use this part of the garden much. Site 9 had the lowest precipitation collected this is mainly
because the precipitation doesn t collect in this location as most of it would falls down onto the shed
and collects there instead as this area doesn t get as much precipitation the tables and chairs are
permanently set up there so the tables don t get too wet if we want to eat on them the next day and
being metal the tables and chairs wont rust as much.
Others parts of my garden have varied microclimate. There was a large range of temperature in my
garden being 6 degrees Celsius and a range of 15mph for the wind speed and 3.8mm range in
precipitation levels. This shows that my garden has a microclimate as the temperatures vary a lot in
my garden especially in the wind speed where some sites got no wind speed and another site reached
speeds of 15mph where there was a canyon effect. My family try to make best use of the microclimate

A Great Translator s Reflections On Oedipus The King
M. H. Abrams says that almost all literary theorists since Aristotle have emphasized the importance of
structure, conceived in diverse ways, in analyzing a work of literature (300). The matter of the
structure of Sophocles Oedipus Rex is a subject of varying interpretation among literary critics, as this
essay will reveal. In A Great Translator s Reflections on Oedipus the King, Gilbert Murray, professor
at Oxford University in England, cites structure as one of the reasons why he chose Oedipus Rex as a
work of translation: On the whole, I can only say that the work of translation has made me feel even
more strongly than before the extraordinary grip and reality of the dialogue, the deftness of the
construction, and . . . the unbroken crescendo of tragedy from the opening to the close (105). . . . But
Sophocles worked by blurring his structural outlines just as he blurs the ends of his verses. In him the
traditional divisions are all made less distinct, all worked over the direction of greater naturalness. . .
.This was a very great gain. . . .(107) Murray s appreciation of the crescendo of tragedy in Oedipus
Rex is echoed in the sentiments of another critic: In Oedipus Tyrannus: Tragic Heroism and the Limits
of Knowledge, Charles Segal says that the protagonist fares well in the first series of tests, but declines
towards his catastrophe in the second series: The first three tests are, respectively, Oedipus meetings
with Creon, Teiresias, and then Creon again.

Drug shipment spillover across the U.S. Mexico border results in increased drug availability in border
cities (Wagner et al.,2011). Northern Mexico is experiencing a budding human immunodeficiency
virus (HIV) epidemic, particularly among injection drug users (IDUs); who are at an increased risk of
blood borne infections, hepatitis C virus (HCV), HIV, and Syphilis due to availability of drugs,
increased rates of unprotected sex, and needle sharing (Frost et al., 2006). Patterson reported 75% of
female sex workers (FSWs) in Ciudad (Cd.) Juárez, Mexico were injection drug users (IDUs) (2006).

Then blood was drawn to test for viruses. All participants were provided counseling before and after
their interviews and treatment referrals. Log linear models were used to investigate the association
between the status of the recruiter and those they referred. Syphilis population estimates were obtained
using RDS based estimators of personal network size to correct biased sampling (Frost et al., 2006).
The prevalence of HCV was 96.6% and 95.3% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively; HIV prevalence
was 1.9% and 4.1% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively, and in Cd. Juárez HBV prevalence was
84.7%. The estimated syphilis prevalence ranged from 12.4 26.8% in Tijuana and 2.9 15.6% in Cd.
Juárez. The variance in syphilis prevalence was due the dependency on the pattern of recruitment and
how much network size was assumed to affect sample probability. Results showed syphilis prevalence
increased in women and Tijuana in comparison to men and Cd. Juárez. The results show that network
size and gender are both potential confounders. The qualifiers for network size are subjective thus
relate to the recruitee and syphilis level. Because female prostitutes are more likely to be IUD users,
gender also relates to IDU and syphilis level. In conclusion, there was a low HIV prevalence, high
syphilis prevalence, and

Windows versus Linux Essay
Windows vs. LINUX
Both Windows and Linux come in many different forms. All the different forms of Windows come
from Microsoft, the various distributions of Linux come from different companies (ex. Red Hat,
SuSE, Linspire, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Knoppix, etc). Windows has two main lines: Win9x , which is
consists of Windows 95, 98, 98SecondEdition and ME, and NT class which consists of Windows NT,
200 and XP. On a side note, Windows first had version 3.x which was made before Windows 95 by a
couple of years. The various types of Linux are called distributions. All the Linux distributions
released around the same time frame will use the same kernel, which are the guts of the OS. They will

Some, like Lindows, do not write anything on the hard disk. There is a downside to running an OS
from a CD is speed and continuity. Versions such as SuSE, use the hard disk. What you gain in speed,
you give up in safety. Now a days you are not limited to just a CD, you can now have a Linux
distribution run from a flash drive.
Windows and Linux provide a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and a command line interface. The
Windows GUI has changed dramatically from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, slightly to Windows
2000, big change to Windows XP and is scheduled to change again with the new version of Windows
recently named Vista. Themes is a feature in Windows which lets you customize to an extent the look
of your GUI. Linux typically provides two GUIs, KDE and Gnome. Of the major distributions,
Lindows has made their user interface resemble Windows a lot more than the others. Text mode
interface is also known as a command interpreter. Windows users know this as DOS prompt. It is
called a shell in Linux. Windows has a single command interpreter but the different types of Windows
have different interpreters. Linux, just as all versions of UNIX, supports multiple command
interpreters, but Linux usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). A few other shells are the
C shell, ash shell, and the bourne shell.

as viruses and spyware. Spyware has

  • 2. Blood Banana Blood Banana Strategic Management 581 Blood Banana Running a business is about more than just making money. It requires adequate consideration to a number of issues, of which ethics is most certainly one. As a business grows and becomes more significant, it impacts the lives of people in so many ways. But without a clear understanding of business ethics, a company can lose its business by ruining its reputation and alienating employees, suppliers and the local community around it. With recent expansions in global businesses and the decrease of trade barriers worldwide, the importance of ethics in business has been further underlined. Chiquita Brands International Inc., is a leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chiquita Brand values integrity and so it should be very transparent with its workers about the reality they are dealing with. Employees who are not comfortable to work under such conditions should be free to leave, with an appropriate severance package to help them in the transition. The company should also hire a security team with the money they were suppose to pay off the AUC with, even if they can t afford the highest protection. This is to provide the best possible environment for the existing employees until the company finds a better solution. For the long run, Chiquita should not operate in a country with such corruption and unrest. It should immediately begin to review its plans and re strategize. It can either explore moving to another location where it can start new banana plantations. Neighboring countries in South America like Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Guatemala are some of the top producing banana nations in the world, even higher than Columbia. Or it can choose to expand one of its other subsidiaries, so it can recover its lost production from Columbia. Chiquita should gradually start moving out of Columbia as soon as possible. It should also offer its employees a job wherever they decide to relocate. The employee can choose to move or settle for a suitable amount. Wherever they go, the company should provide a descent and safe environment for its workers. This is the cost of being ethical. It not always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nurse Retention And Retention Many organizations have realized the key to their effectiveness lies in their ability to recruit and retain capable nurses. Retention is a process that should be started before a nurse is hired and needs to be continued until the nurse resigns. Renewed attention has been directed at retention of nurses in a multigenerational workforce over the past 10 to 20 years (Palumbo et al., 2009). The turnover rate of a new graduate ranges from 22.6% to 60% in the first year (Mills Mullins, 2008; Van Wyngeeren Stuart, n.d.), the average age of the nurse is 45 years, and nurses begin to phase into retirement beginning at age 55 years. In light of these facts, it is little wonder that nursing has begun to focus attention on expand¬ing retention programs beyond the promotion of job satisfaction, safety, respect, and financial security plans, and gain sharing (Palumbo et al., 2009) to the development of infrastructure services that meet the diverse needs of current employees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today more than ever it is imperative that nurses and other health care workers experience a sense of community in the workplace because many spend more time at work than at any other single place. General strategies commonly used for nurse retention of new and experienced nurses are identified in Box 20 2. According to a study conducted by Palumbo and colleagues (2009), although common retention expecta¬tions have been identified as important to nurses of all ages, several difference were noted related to the perceived significance of various retention strategies reported by generational groups (Box ... • 4. Was The Atomic Bomb Justified The Atomic Bombs; The Justification One of the most controversial and heavily scrutinized issue of the twentieth century was President Harry S. Truman s decision to unleash atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The motives behind Truman s actions are shrouded in controversy as top military officials publicly denounced the use of such a disastrous weapon. There is overwhelming evidence supporting both sides of the decision, as historians are split in opinion. The United States had been using conventional bombing to try to push Japan over the edge to surrender, but with countless Japanese civilians loyal to their country, invading Japan proved to be more problematic than first thought. Harry S. Truman made the ultimate decision of dropping the atomic bomb in hopes that it would end the war, but the amount of casualties caused by it has historians questioning if it was morally right, The bomb was unfortunate, but it was the only means to bring Japan to a surrender, historian Sadao Asada states (Bomb 9). Truman s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justifiable because they would ultimately lead to the end of the war and would demonstrate U.S. supremacy. The U.S. continued conventional bombing in the 1940s but determined that it would not be enough to cause Japan to come to an unconditional surrender. Japanese military leaders strongly opposed the idea of surrendering while political leaders urged for the country to surrender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Entitlement In A Few Good Men Professor of American Literature Sarah Churchwell once said, People who are given whatever they want soon develop a sense of entitlement and rapidly lose their sense of proportion. In the famous movie A Few Good Men, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, who is masterfully played by Jack Nicholson, exudes arrogance in his every action throughout the crime fiction thriller. Furthermore, Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee uses his late father s past occupation of United States Attorney General to obtain his own sense of entitlement and invincibility. Two independent scenarios occur in the film that support this theory of entitlement; three different decorated authors also contain evidence as to why this might be the case for Colonel Jessup and Lieutenant Kaffee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This scene refers to a situation early on in the film when Lieutenant Kaffee is late to a meeting with his fellow comrades. Unprepared and disrespectful, he is still assigned a case to defend two marines who have killed another. No punishment for neither being late to the meeting nor being unprepared and disrespectful to his equals. Zimbardo and Milgram alike would likely begin by both regressing to their previous points in proving that submission to a person causes the entitlement feeling in that person s mind; both of which concluded with these results in their respective experiments (Z M 84,113). However, specialized writer and editor, Kori Ellis, would refute that this is the only reason that Kaffee feels as entitled and invincible that he indeed feels. Spoiled kids often develop into self absorbed adults with a lack of self control and a major sense of entitlement, she writes. Furthermore, she illustrates that these spoiled children, as adults, carry this sense of entitlement throughout their lives causing them to be disliked and frowned upon in the work force (Ellis). Quick, concurring comments would likely be made by School Age Children Expert Katherine Lee when she discusses the effects on children as a result to a lack of discipline throughout her article, Surprising Reasons Why We Need to Discipline Our Children. Discipline is essential to a child s proper development and a lack of discipline is detrimental, she illustrates. This causes the child to struggle respecting others, similar to how Kaffee feels throughout the duration of the film especially coming to focus in the meeting scene discussed (Lee). Lieutenant Kaffee s father, as previously mentioned, was the attorney general of the United States: To put this in perspective, the only authority to this position is the President of the United States. There was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Chlamydia Trachomatis And Its Effects On The United States... Chlamydia trachomatis is a bacterium that is now recognized as the most prevalent and among the most damaging of all sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) seen in the United States today (Thompson, n.d.). There are various factors that place college students at a higher risk of acquiring Chlamydia such as: race, age, gender, and environmental factors. The increase in the number of cases that are being reported is direct reflection of the success of the free to low cost testing programs that are available for college students at their college campus and community. Lastly, further research is essential in order to verify the efficacy and effectiveness of instituted educational programs and a correlation with higher awareness and education leads to a reduction of Chlamydia incidence and prevalence in the future. STDs place a significant economic strain on the U.S. healthcare system. According to CDC conservatively estimates, the lifetime cost of treating eight of the most common STDs contracted in just one year is $15.6 billion (2013). Each year, more than $1 billion in direct and indirect costs are expended on Chlamydia infections in the United States. Many of these costs result from the management of women with PID and its complications (Thompson, n.d.). Further growth in the economic burden of chlamydial infections will occur as these infections become more prevalent. Although chlamydia screening is expanding, many women who are at risk are still not being tested, thus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Theory Of An Nominal Price Of The Existence Long Run... Due to the fact that short term nominal price rigidities, the movements of nominal exchange rate result in movements of real exchanger rate in the short run. Balassa Samuelson model is the first and most popular model for rationalizing the existence long run deviations from PPP, which depends upon the assumption that the equilibrium exchange rate is determined by the traded good prices. The underlying argument of this model is that, both developed countries (DC) and less developed countries (LDC) produces traded and non traded goods, labour mobility implies that wages should be equalized between these two sectors. They argue that the price levels in DC tend to be higher than LDC when all countries price levels converted to dollars at nominal exchange rate, which dues to the fact that DC have higher absolute productivity levels compared with LDC, also because DC are relatively more productive in the traded goods sector, while productivity levels are similar in their respective non traded goods sector (Balassa, 1964, cited in Hallwood and Macnonald, 2000). The concentration of productivity in traded goods sector in the fast growing economy will cause wage increase in the traded goods sector, so the prices of traded goods remains constant and LOP holds with a fixed nominal exchange rate. However, if there is no correspondent productivity rise in the non traded sector, then the overall price levels must be raised in order to cover the wage increase for workers in non traded ... For example, the child is developing social skills by talking with her animals and the other little people around her. The child is talking with her friend even though the child is using the animals to have the conversion with her friend. The child is using the toys to learn what she can say to other by watching how her friend used the other toys to react to what the child has said. In a way the child is learning what is socially acceptable, like when the child said something rude to the friend s toy, and the friend used the toy she was playing with to tell the child what she had just done was mean and the friend acted like the other toys were mad at the childes toys. • 9. Benefits Of Cooperative Learning For Student Engagement Moreover, despite all those well documented benefits of cooperative learning, many teachers still do not prefer to use this pedagogical practice in class, stated by Baines, Blatchford, and Kutnik (2003). The fact is that the cooperative learning requires teachers to have high awareness of students learning, good control of students challenging behaviors. Based on the knowledge on cooperative learning, the approach of group work is introduced in the following paragraphs as the chosen pedagogical approach for language teaching practice in stage 4. Group work is an instructional strategy that allows teachers to address both intellectual and social learning goals (Cohen, 1994; Galton, Hargreaves, Pell, 2009). The approach will be analyzed from two aspects, one is the impact on students social and attitudinal improvements, and the other aspect is on the academic gains. Generally, Stage 4 is known as the transition stage. As emphasized in the Melbourne Declaration, the effective transitions between primary and secondary schools are an important aspect of ensuring student engagement (2008, p. 12). Student motivation and engagement in these years is critical, and can be influenced by tailoring approaches to teaching, with learning activities and learning environments that specifically consider the needs of middle year s students. Very often there were false convictions expressed by people even if their preconceptions reflected their own natural goals. Lucretius protested against voices who presented gods as having evil intents and as prone to partiality and fury: Unhappy human race, to attribute such behavior, and bitter wrath too, to the gods! What lamentations did they lay up for themselves in those days, what wounds for us, what tears for our descendants ? I personally believe that Epicurus was more an idealist than a realist. He obviously stated that there are gods a statement that could easily describe him as a realist but the fact that he encouraged people to construct the conception of god and that their true nature, lifestyle and way of thinking were completely unknown to people compel me to believe that Epicurus was idealist and gods were merely thought constructs articulating people s unrealistic view of the life they desired. Philodemus mentioned that Epicurus involved himself in all the traditional festival and sacrifices . However, this attestation does not prove that Epicurus was surely devoutly religious and believed that gods were existing living beings; he could have acted in that way to give a boost to his social status or even to protect himself from the dangerous accusations of ... On June 28, 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany and the Allied Nations. This treaty was a peace document that would end World War I. Ironically, Treaty of Versailles was the principal cause of World War II. Treaty of Versailles stated that Germany had to take the blame for causing World War I (World War Two Causes). It also forced Germany to lose territory, pay for the damages caused by the war, and their air force was forbidden. As a result, the Treaty of Versailles weakened Germany. The treaty stated that one of the ways that Germany could pay for the war expenses was by giving other countries some of their goods. As a result, Germany s economy worsened. The German people were unhappy with the treaty because they believed that it was unjust and biased. They thought that it was unnecessarily punitive and profoundly shameful (Hamner). In distress, People were dissatisfied with the government and voted to power a man who promised to rip up the Treaty of Versailles (World War Two Causes). This man was Adolf Hitler. • 13. European Nations that Were Formed Due to Nationalist Ideas The countries in Europe were not always the way they are today. Before about the middle of the nineteenth century Europe consisted of various regions ruled by dynastic empires. These monarchies had absolute power over their subjects and there was no sense of nationalism or the idea of betterment of the general population. Although the idea of the creation of the nation state began with the advent of the French Revolution but it took more than a century for the ideas of nationalism to become concrete enough to form the independent national state of France. the concept of Nationalism spread throughout Europe and slowly led to the creation of the modern democratic systems that we see around the world today, in the early 20th century. After the French revolution, feudalism and liberalism fell away paving the way for nationalism. It was named after a town in Germany where, in 1967, citizens contracted the virus from monkeys transported from Uganda to a local laboratory. Many of the monkeys had been brought in by a trader who was more interested in money than the health of the animals. The virus is different from most because rather than being ball shaped, it is a filovirus, or has tendrils like hair or worms that tangle together. They can also roll up into loops, a very unique trait. The other well known filovirus is Ebola. Marburg kills one in four humans who receive medical treatment and is so dangerous that the international community immediately tries to identify the source. • 31. The Impact Of Media On Youtube And Facebook Since the advent of the internet and the yearly increase in connectivity shrinking the digital divide, information and media have become increasingly accessible to many more people. Our personal consumption of media has become extremely tailored due to individualization. With web based mass alternative media offer increased range, immediacy, and ease over traditional alternatives (Owens and Palmer, 2003; p 339) we are given the opportunity to customize both our virtual and tangible experience. The development of this multi modal communication can be seen by the plethora of online media vehicles such as Youtube, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Twitter, and Facebook; new unifications of creators, large companies, and politicians have begun to utilize these mediums to fulfil their relevant agendas. An example of this would be the development of politics on Youtube and Facebook. The communicative technology fosters more transparency and authenticity from politicians, inhibiting their ability to control information/image while providing previously passive audiences the opportunity to become active in both creating and sharing dialogue while challenging claims made in the mass media. Politicians have discovered how to govern through social media, developing policy support and managing public opinion via direct, unfiltered communication on YouTube (McMilan, 2015, pp 1 2). Politicians such as Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are constantly being re posted/blogged/tweeted and have become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Microclimate Report Sample My microclimate report of My Garden Microclimate is the climate of a small area within a larger area, my garden. I was given the task of investigating the microclimate of my garden and recording what I found. The warmest place was site 3 with a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius In site 3 there is a low albedo so heat is absorbed therefore the temperature is higher here on a warm day the aspect of this site is south west so this results in this part of the garden being warmer, because places facing the sun are warmer than those in the shadows, in Britain the sun rises in the east and moves through the south, so at midday the sun would be directly facing south making my garden hotter. We use this to an advantage by setting seats up in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Precipitation levels change over my garden with site 1 collecting the most over that night with 5mm of rainfall and site 9 collecting the lest with 1.2 mm of rainfall. The amount of precipitation in site 5 is mainly due to being under a gutter so all the precipitation would come down the gutter here therefore we don t use this part of the garden much. Site 9 had the lowest precipitation collected this is mainly because the precipitation doesn t collect in this location as most of it would falls down onto the shed and collects there instead as this area doesn t get as much precipitation the tables and chairs are permanently set up there so the tables don t get too wet if we want to eat on them the next day and being metal the tables and chairs wont rust as much. Others parts of my garden have varied microclimate. There was a large range of temperature in my garden being 6 degrees Celsius and a range of 15mph for the wind speed and 3.8mm range in precipitation levels. This shows that my garden has a microclimate as the temperatures vary a lot in my garden especially in the wind speed where some sites got no wind speed and another site reached speeds of 15mph where there was a canyon effect. My family try to make best use of the microclimate in are garden by positioning the chairs in the hottest area so we can enjoy the sun and growing plants in the back ... • 35. A Great Translator s Reflections On Oedipus The King M. H. Abrams says that almost all literary theorists since Aristotle have emphasized the importance of structure, conceived in diverse ways, in analyzing a work of literature (300). The matter of the structure of Sophocles Oedipus Rex is a subject of varying interpretation among literary critics, as this essay will reveal. In A Great Translator s Reflections on Oedipus the King, Gilbert Murray, professor at Oxford University in England, cites structure as one of the reasons why he chose Oedipus Rex as a work of translation: On the whole, I can only say that the work of translation has made me feel even more strongly than before the extraordinary grip and reality of the dialogue, the deftness of the construction, and . . . the unbroken crescendo of tragedy from the opening to the close (105). . . . But Sophocles worked by blurring his structural outlines just as he blurs the ends of his verses. In him the traditional divisions are all made less distinct, all worked over the direction of greater naturalness. . . .This was a very great gain. . . .(107) Murray s appreciation of the crescendo of tragedy in Oedipus Rex is echoed in the sentiments of another critic: In Oedipus Tyrannus: Tragic Heroism and the Limits of Knowledge, Charles Segal says that the protagonist fares well in the first series of tests, but declines towards his catastrophe in the second series: The first three tests are, respectively, Oedipus meetings with Creon, Teiresias, and then Creon again. ... • 37. The Use Of Drugs Drug shipment spillover across the U.S. Mexico border results in increased drug availability in border cities (Wagner et al.,2011). Northern Mexico is experiencing a budding human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic, particularly among injection drug users (IDUs); who are at an increased risk of blood borne infections, hepatitis C virus (HCV), HIV, and Syphilis due to availability of drugs, increased rates of unprotected sex, and needle sharing (Frost et al., 2006). Patterson reported 75% of female sex workers (FSWs) in Ciudad (Cd.) Juárez, Mexico were injection drug users (IDUs) (2006). FSWs in these border cities who had recently injected drugs presented a significantly higher risk for sexual risk behaviors compared to other FSWs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then blood was drawn to test for viruses. All participants were provided counseling before and after their interviews and treatment referrals. Log linear models were used to investigate the association between the status of the recruiter and those they referred. Syphilis population estimates were obtained using RDS based estimators of personal network size to correct biased sampling (Frost et al., 2006). The prevalence of HCV was 96.6% and 95.3% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively; HIV prevalence was 1.9% and 4.1% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively, and in Cd. Juárez HBV prevalence was 84.7%. The estimated syphilis prevalence ranged from 12.4 26.8% in Tijuana and 2.9 15.6% in Cd. Juárez. The variance in syphilis prevalence was due the dependency on the pattern of recruitment and how much network size was assumed to affect sample probability. Results showed syphilis prevalence increased in women and Tijuana in comparison to men and Cd. Juárez. The results show that network size and gender are both potential confounders. The qualifiers for network size are subjective thus relate to the recruitee and syphilis level. Because female prostitutes are more likely to be IUD users, gender also relates to IDU and syphilis level. In conclusion, there was a low HIV prevalence, high syphilis prevalence, and ... Versions such as SuSE, use the hard disk. What you gain in speed, you give up in safety. Now a days you are not limited to just a CD, you can now have a Linux distribution run from a flash drive. Windows and Linux provide a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and a command line interface. The Windows GUI has changed dramatically from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, slightly to Windows 2000, big change to Windows XP and is scheduled to change again with the new version of Windows recently named Vista. Themes is a feature in Windows which lets you customize to an extent the look of your GUI. Linux typically provides two GUIs, KDE and Gnome. Of the major distributions, Lindows has made their user interface resemble Windows a lot more than the others. Text mode interface is also known as a command interpreter. Windows users know this as DOS prompt. It is called a shell in Linux. Windows has a single command interpreter but the different types of Windows have different interpreters. Linux, just as all versions of UNIX, supports multiple command interpreters, but Linux usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). A few other shells are the C shell, ash shell, and the bourne shell. There are an enormous amount of malicious software programs. The most common types are known as viruses and spyware.
