It provides modules for testing thousands of known vulnerabilities, is updated when new
vulnerabilities are identified, and is one of the most used penetration testing tools used (Rapid7, nd).
Metasploit Pro provides a thorough assessment and explains what needs to be done to reduce the risk
of an IS breach. It automates penetration testing and can assist with testing ARC s personnel for
susceptibility to social engineering campaigns. It also integrates with other security programs, many of
which are free, to improve results and provide reports that can give IT personnel information on how
to better secure the network. Metasploit Pro provides very solid value for the cost which is comparable
to that of ARC s database servers. Training for IT personnel to use the software is also reasonable
(Rapid7). Total cost to ARC would be $20 thousand dollars for the software license for 1 year and $12

Nucleosome Formation Executive Summary
SUMMARY: This five year career development plan (CDP) is an integrated research, education, and
outreach program which is concerned with the molecular dynamics and electronic structure studies of
nucleosomes, which are complexes of DNA and proteins in chromatin which account for 75 90% of
the packing of genomic DNA in mammalian cells. This CDP has four main goals:
1. To make a fundamental advance in the computational modeling of nucleosome stability.
Understanding the base pair sequence dependence of the propensities for nucleosome formation has
been a long sought goal in cell biology as nucleosome stability is thought to be an important
component of transcriptional regulation. In particular DNA methylation and histone acetylation, which
play key roles in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To capture important components of nucleosome formation, such as the propensity of nucleosomes
not to form for A tract sequences. There have been recent attempts to model DNA with empirical force
fields such as CHARMM and AMBER, but the computational complexity associated with modeling
nucleosome structures has so far restricted these simulations to short segments (18 bp) with specific
histone DNA interactions have been ignored. This study will merge different computational
approaches to resolve results obtained through experimental studies which ultimately should be
linked, forming a consistent theory;
3. To serve or otherwise address the needs of disadvantaged individuals majoring in STEM disciplines
by implementing a culturally relevant Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL) model for introductory 200
level courses in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. This study will also investigate and evaluate the
success of PLTL interactions and small group activities and evaluate the program s effectiveness for
improving student performance, retention and increasing participation of non traditional students. The
project will also provide a transferable model for PLTL for STEM courses at HBCUs universities

Comparing Pluralist and Ruling Elite Accounts of Political...
Comparing Pluralist and Ruling Elite Accounts of Political Power in the U.K. and U.S.
Whilst there are not any absolutely accurate interpretations of political power and political system,
there are different controversial theories about those, among which, pluralist and ruling elite are the
two fundamentally outstanding theories that both have echoing practical influences in the modern
world of politics nowadays. In this essay, I shall try to attempt to briefly explain the two theories,
going further on from this, to mainly compare and contrast these theories, especially taking into
account the political power in the UK and US where modern democratic societies are claimed to exist
and government is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrasting with pluralism, the theory of ruling elite suggests that government can and should be
controlled by a small elite, as mobilising and communicating within a small group is far simplier and
easier than that of the mass body. It can be seen as a minority which governs in its own interest and is
unaccountable to the majority. It is defined by the possession of three characteristics: consciousness,
coherence and conspiracy. Consciousness refers to the awareness of common interests, coherence
means that it shares a common interest and conspiracy describes the capacity to act collectively.
Ancient Greek philosopher Plato (427 347 BC.) argued that an intelligent elite, whom he styled
Philosoher Kings , should government. In addition, the elitists shared a common sceptical view that
democratic government is impossible and might be undesirable. They do not believe many interests
are represented as political institutions rarely serve their formally stated purposes and instead
represent whom they wish.
Today there are pluralist influences as well as pluralist essences in both the US and UK politics. They
both have social pluralism, according to sheer sizes of their citizens with different interests, ethnics or
religions; this also prevents everyone from taking part in the government and instead,

(E. 2243-44). The Circuit Court Found—And Wcs Concurs—That
(E. 2243 44). The Circuit Court found and WCS concurs that this position pushed the envelope of
credibility. (E. 2284). To illustrate this absurdity, if we accept National Surety s position that any
negative defense to a breach of contract claim is a right or claim, National Surety would be free to
assert any claim against WCS no matter how preposterous and in want of merit knowing that WCS
has released any and all defenses affirmative, negative, or otherwise that WCS may have to such a
claim. This Court could not afford the 2007 agreement such a construction. See Middlebrook Tech,

In this case, however, the Waivers bargained for in the AIA contract are neither rights, claims, debts,
liens, demands, [nor] actions. (E. 881) Contrary to the plaintiffs in Olney, WCS is not (in this litigation
) pursuing an affirmative claim whatsoever. Rather, WCS merely seeks to rely upon the express
waiver that Metropolitan gave, which serves as a negative defense to National Surety s breach of
contract claim. Additionally, National Surety relies on Allstate Ins. Co. v. Stinebaugh, 374 Md. 631,
646 (2003); and Shawnee Hosp. Auth. v. Dow Constr., Inc., 812 P.2d 1351 (Okla. 1990). Both these
cases dealt with parties who attempted to invoke arbitration clauses in a prior contract, after the
original contract had been modified by a subsequent settlement agreement. See generally, Id. Like in
Olney, these cases are dissimilar because a right to arbitration is not immediately tendered the way a
waiver is. Rather, an arbitration clause is an executory right that may be invoked in the future. As
such, the executory arbitration clause may be modified via subsequent agreement, but a waiver may
not because it is tendered upon when the waiver is given. Contrary to Metropolitan s averment before
the Circuit Court and National Surety s misguided reliance on Olney, Stinebaugh, and Shawnee, a
waiver is not an executory right to be exercised in the future or a right possessed by anyone at all.
Rather, a waiver is a present relinquishment of a right that is tendered at

The Long Term Dispute Over Which Is Better, East Coast Vs....
The long term dispute over which is better, east coast vs. west coast, will undoubtedly continue until
this country no longer exists. While both coasts offer travelers and natives a variety of places to eat,
things to do, and places to see, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their states
on the map with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each coast,
there is something on each side for everyone. More often than not, people picture California and the
Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking comes from the idea that Hollywood, the city of
dreams, consumes California entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems
throughout each state. There will always be more than what meets the eye.
There are hundreds of military bases throughout the United States of America. California and the
Carolinas contribute to that statistic. Home to almost 30 different bases, California boasts the most
commonly known Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit Depot
San Diego, and the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, home to the Navy SEALS. One of the very
prevalent military communities within California is San Diego. There is an overwhelming sense of
pride in the Armed Forces around every corner in what is a relatively large city. North and South
Carolina are very familiar with that same sense of pride.

Melanie Klein, The Mother Of Object Relations
She is a drive theorist who influenced child psychology and is known as the mother of Object
Relations. Melanie Klein believed that drives are object seeking, relational in their essence and not
just meant for resolutions of tensions as Freud suggested.
Klein postulated that internal object formation is integral to the psychic life of the infant and is based
on powerful struggle between the internal forces of life and death instincts , child s phantasy , innate
envy and gratification and lack of with the prime object (mother).
Klein believed that the mother is most important and infants have an innate mother an unconscious
inner knowing by the child of the primal maternal image of the mother, .
She laid emphasis on phantasy ; a state of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The client for the therapist sometimes plays out this position also. Is he there to be good or bad?
Depressive position follows the paranoid schizoid position as the anxiety of being destroyed by the
object gets replaced by fear of destroying the object. The infant then begins a cycle where some
negativity is internalized in order to gain control of it, and some good is projected onto the mother so
that she could protect the infant. These cycles of projection and introjection continue until the infant
realizes that the good mother and the bad mother are one and the mother whom he phantasized of
destroying is the same mother he loves.
This causes immense guilt for earlier persecutory feelings towards the object and the infant realizes
that the mother cannot be blamed all the time and this explains the far away look children have
sometimes in their eyes.
The infant suffers from depressive anxiety and this position is defined by a loss of innocence . This is
a healthy development and depressive word is misleading here because actually it s a step forward and
if this position is not resolved it can lead to

Observation Of The Environment In A Preschool Classroom
Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the
environment is viewed as an established behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich
Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for learning because it has
all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a
bulleting board, a dramatic play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole
group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall a picture of every single
child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in
a transition from one activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the
children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and quiet on the floor. Every single child
knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that
all the children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I
observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with this activity because they were looking to
other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from
a cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take.
Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom every child has a

Essay on Pros and Cons of Raising the Minimum Wage
Pros and Cons of Raising the Minimum Wage When you picture a minimum wage worker, who do
you picture? Do you see a sixteen year old, a middle aged mother, a college graduate, or even a senior
citizen worker? In September of 2013, California governor Jerry Brown signed a new bill into act that
would cause the California minimum wage to rise from the current $8.00 and hour to $10.00 and hour
in increments over the next three years. The minimum wage rate will go up in two separate $1.00
boosts. The first will change the rate from $8.00 to $9.00 in July of 2014, and the second increase, to
$10.00, in January 2016. In this paper, I will discuss, compare, and weigh the pros and cons of the
minimum wage increase in California. Governor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These results, at least to myself, are not shocking but are helpful when looking at who this minimum
wage increase will be affecting. Once the minimum wage goes up will employers be able to
successfully employ the same amount of workers as when the minimum wage was lower or will they
be able to higher on new workers as they need them? This is one of the concerns of many in regards to
the minimum wage increase. In Sanja Blazevic s article, Is Employment Decreasing Due to Minimum
Wage Increase? , Sanja explains that many economists believe that a minimum wage increase causes
most age groups of minimum wage workers to suffer. This is caused by jobs becoming more scarce
after employers want to employ fewer people since they are being forced to pay them more than they
would prefer to. Young workers (25 29) seeking a job of a minimum wage could see unemployment
rise to close to 10% during a minimum wage hike (Blazevic) creating a significant unemployment
problem. Other age ranges saw similar but not as extreme level of unemployment with a higher
minimum wage. The only benefiting age range was that of those working for the minimum wage at
the age of 60 65. This benefiting group however cannot outweigh the majority of those who face
higher unemployment during a minimum wage hike. Sanja also brings up the fact that once the
minimum wage increases it will leave a smaller wage gap

Tips For Resolving Conflicts By Mrs. Breed
Solving conflict Conflict can be very hard to deal with. People always assume to use violence, but that
should never be the case. The best way to solve conflict is by staying calm, remaining positive, and
using good communication skills. In Dear, Mrs.Breed who shared notes with people who survived the
Japanese Internment Camps and Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler s Shadow where a young girl
expressed her feelings about the holocaust they both had to deal with conflict in a positive manner.
This would help you solve conflict in a quick and positive manner.

Communication and collaboration are two very useful things arguing or not. It is important to
communicate in situations because, without talking correctly, the argument will never end. The
University of Rochester says, The constructive ways of approaching conflict are compromise and
collaboration (Kopecky). Also, In conflict resolution skills the author says, Emotional awareness the
consciousness of your moment to moment emotional experience and the ability to manage all of your
feelings appropriately is the basis of a communication process that can resolve conflict (Sega). This
means that you have to be mentally ready to prepare for what you have to say which also goes along
with staying calm and positive. Communication can greatly impact conflicts. Solving conflict can be
very hard sometimes. However, using these three pointers, arguments and conflict would be in the

Hillary Clinton
President of the United States, the highest office in our nation. A respected title, a praiseworthy title,
an honorable title, but some may ask why anyone would want to be President. For the fame or power?
Well, that is how most people think the candidate, Hillary Clinton, thinks of it. Trump, Cruz, Kasich,
Clinton, and Sanders are the remaining candidates still in the race for the presidency. All candidates
have their faults, but Hillary s biggest fault is how she is campaigning. When people listen to her

they hear, is Hillary attacking her fellow candidates, trying to make them appear weak. Our President

Both, Obama and Clinton were against same sex marriage until voting commenced; as a result, people
considered the sudden change of mind to be a political move. She was interviewed by Terry Gross,
who wanted to find out if her ideas had evolved since she last ran in the 90 s. However, Clinton never
gave detailed answers, she stated, We have all evolved, and became angry when Gross repetitively
asked. She complained, stating Terry was, playing with my words. She also went on to say how proud
of herself she was for what she has done for this issue, however, Mrs. Clinton never quite specified
what she did ( Hillary Clinton ). In another interview, Clinton answered questions from various
women and indicated she wanted to focus on children and education, however, throughout the
interview she spoke about her hair style and a new brand of milk she found. The women also asked
her why she desired to be President, yet she did not give an answer ( Hillary Talks ). Clinton believes
after having an African American President in office for two consecutive terms, we now want a female
President. However, voters call her a clumsy campaigner because of the questions her staff gave the
audience before a speaking event in her last Presidential run, hence, some voters believe this could
happen again (Malcolm Andrew). Clinton continues to be baffled by how little her voters know about
her and that it

Tamerlane Research Paper
Timur was referred to by many names coming from many different people. The name Tamerlane was
derived from the Persian Timur i lane, he was called Temur the lame by Europeans, and his Turkic
name was Timur which means iron. He has also conquered more than any other person in the world
except for Alexander. Timur was born in the city of Kesh in 1336. His father was a lesser chief of the
nomadic Barlas tribe. Timur claimed he was a direct descendant from Genghis Khan through the
house of one of his sons, Chagatai. In his twenties, Timur received arrow wounds in a battle while
trying to steal sheep. This left him lame in only his right leg, and a stiff right arm, thus the reason he
was named Temur the lame by the Europeans, and Tamerlane. These disabilities, however, did not stop

between all of his conquests, Timur fought with the Khan of the Golden Horde named Tokhtamysh.
This conflict went on for many years, starting in 1385, when the Tokhtamysh invaded Azerbaijan and
Transoxania and defeated Timur s armies there. Timur chased Tokhtamysh back into the Russian

Women During The Viking Culture
Women in Viking Culture
When you think of the Vikings, chances are you think of horned helmets, raids, and bloody battles.
But on the other side of the spectrum, there are the women of Nordic culture. Women are mostly
thought of as looking like Viking warriors fighting alongside their men. But that was hardly the case.
In reality, women were important in many other ways. They were treated very differently than other
women in different European cultures at that time. The home lives of the women in Nordic society
were very important to the social acceptance of who they were. Who they were married to, if they
practiced gender roles, and how they kept their family were all factors that make up how people
viewed them. Ideally, women at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her children would then inherit the dowry as part of their estate ( Women ). Just as the dowry, the
woman did not fully become part of her husband s family when she married. She was a part of her
own family. If her husband mistreated her or her children, or was too lazy to be a sufficient provider or
even insult her family, those were grounds to divorce him. To do this, she must call in witnesses. She
must announce her divorce in front of said witnesses at her front door, then at their bed ( Women ). At
the time of a divorce, the woman would be given back her dowry that was brought with her at the start
of the marriage (The Role of Women). Children automatically stayed with their mother in case of a
divorce. It depended who the older children stayed with according to status and wealth of the two
families. The children still held their rights to inheritance, even after divorce ( Women ). Divorce is a
prime example of how women of this culture had it better than many other cultures. What was
expected of the female children was vastly different than what was expected of the adults. Unlike most
cultures where the boys attend school and the girls learn housework, it is believed that neither attended

President Truman’s Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb Essay
Webster s dictionary defines hindsight as the ability to understand, after something has happened,
what should have been done or what caused the event . It is a fair assumption that most people
understand the old adage hindsight is always 20/20 ; alluding to the fact that, in our everyday lives, we
as humans make decisions based on what we know, what seems right and occasionally what makes
our lives easier. The average person does not have the mental capability to consider every possible
outcome that a choice will have on his entire life, all within the thought process that leads him to reach
a conclusion, however long and detailed that process may be. If we add massive amounts of pressure,

While this is true, it becomes apparent that every option had its flaws and none seemed as immediate
of a solution as dropping single highly destructive bombs on what Stimson (the secretary of war)
named as cities in Japan devoted exclusively to production (p.287). The first alternative mentioned in
the RTAP (page 273) was continue and intensify the bombing and naval blockade of Japan . The
second option mentioned on the same page was to wait for the Soviet Union to enter the war with
Japan by attacking Manchuria and the third option mentioned was to allow the Japanese to retain their
emperor with his power reduced to the status of a constitutional monarch . Each option was unique in
its requirements of effect, strategic planning, and man power. However, they all shared the distinct
quality of baring absolutely no guarantee of Japanese surrender. The first option, invasion of Japan,
was debated the heaviest. Truman, and several of his advisors, sighted the huge estimates of US
casualties as the main reason for his hesitancy to proceed with bombing, blockades and ground
attacks. In the excerpt of Prompt and Utter Destruction: Truman and the Use of the Atomic Bomb
against Japan, J. Samuel Walker argues that even without the use of the atomic bombs, the war would
probably have ended before the American invasion of Kyushu became necessary (p. 277). He
predicted that the destruction,

Hot Air Balloon In A Wall Of Fire Rising
A massive, air filled balloon wandering mindlessly in the sky thousands of feet high is likely what
comes to mind when you think of a hot air balloon, but this is not the case in the story A Wall of Fire
Rising. In this story, the hot air balloon mentioned has such a deeper meaning to Guy. Characteristics
of a hot air balloon include being filled with air, but hollow, free flying, and non stationary. These four
characteristics define the symbol in a whole other light; they describe hopefulness, trapped, destined,
unattainable freedom and escape. As the story evolves Guy s perspective and the meanings on the
symbol changes as well.

As hopeful as Guy was, is anything he was trying to accomplish even in his reach? All the things he
wants to do for him and his family seem so farfetched; it s questionable where this hope even comes
from. When the Haiti got their freedom from the French, Guy mistakenly took this notion as a
beginning to freedom. He was stuck in a predestined future; he was poor and without a job. He was
hopeful to have his name on the job list because this meant an opportunity. As time went by, he
realized the hope was back up nothing. He was so far buried down on the job list that it was nearly
impossible to ever get out of the situation he was stuck in. Throughout the whole story he was the
most hopeful person, and it was easily seen by his determination and effort. He has high hope for a
job, freedom, escape and an opportunity even for his family. As the story developed, he became weary.
He sees all the unachieved hopes he had was pointless. He became hopeless and trapped inside his
destined fate. He was stuck inside a life that didn t give him opportunities, second chances, promises,
freedom or escape. He lived the life in the same shoes his father did. Ultimately every factor he tries to
accomplish backfires and he s trapped back at square one. He hoped for a better life apart of the life he

short story written by Herman Melville. Melville lived during the Industrial Revolution, which was a
time where workers were not getting treated fairly. Even till now, some workers are not getting treated
fairly with their bosses and getting paid minimum wage. It is still complex for some people to survive
with the money they are earning. When he was a teen, Melville did not have a stable job so he
followed ships around and he once traveled from New York to England and back. During this time
was when it was popular for people to get the oil from whales. Herman Melville wrote Bartleby
because he wanted to inform readers how the work style was like back in his days. In this story,
Herman Melville wanted to relate his life to Bartleby and relate it to society. He wants people to
appreciate the life they have now since it was not easy back in the days. As profounding as life seems
to be now, back in Melville s time people had to find or hunt their necessities instead of buying them,
like oil. Life was difficult for Melville as a teen when he lost his father and was put in debt so he had
to work hard in order for his family to be stable again. In Bartleby by Herman Melville, the narrator is
the lawyer who owns a law firm. He has two workers but one only functions in the morning and the
other one only functions in the afternoon. The lawyer hired Bartleby and gives him a space in the

Approximation Rule In Court Cases
When a custodial decision cannot be reached by a couple and is turned to a court to determine, a task
is given to the court to ensure that the best decision is made in the interest of the child. A court reaches
this by various methods of standard tests and evaluations that produce unpredictable results (Dolan
Hynan, 2014). There has been a recent suggestion by the American Law Institute called the
Approximation Rule . Under this proposal, recently divorced parents share of time within their
custody should be allocated to approximate the proportion of time each parent spends with the child
on a detailed list of childcare tasks prior to their divorce (Dolan Hynan, 2014). This assessment is
geared towards awarding custody rights to the parent

Ragtime Research Paper
Ragtime
American culture involves myriads of customs and traditions inherent exclusively to the USA. Except
for religion, clothes, behavior, beliefs, or food, which define culture as a unique phenomenon, music
enormously contributes to its existence in any period of the nation s development. Early American
music is famous for a distinctive genre popular during the mid 1890s, called ragtime, notable for its
special syncopation and composers.
Ragtime used to be a solely American style of musical works composed of three or four strikingly
different sections, in other words, strains, one of which was 16 or 32 measures in length. Due to an
astonishing syncopation, namely replacement of the beat from its regular course of meter, ragtime
compositions became both threatening and thrilling to the American youngsters. The displaced beat
caused the listeners to feel hyperactive as well as evoked strong associations with so called low class
music of the Negroes ( History of ragtime, n.d.).
Although ragtime was composed for a piano, modern chronicles mention a significant role of the
banjo in the development of this musical genre. In 1881, a writer Lafcadio Hearn noted that the blacks
used the piano as a banjo, producing new ragged rhythms, later called banjo figuration ( History of
ragtime, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which became a notable work of piano ragtime and a role model for other composers, including J.

My Grandpa Research Paper
As my grandfather looked out into the dread filled ocean, it was then that he realised there was no
going back. Once he stepped foot onto that aircraft carrier he felt worried and feared he would not
come back. This was the only thing that my grandpa ever told me about his past in the Korean War.
However, it also got me intrigued in the United States Armed Forces. As he passed away, I just wished
I would have asked him about the stories he must of had about the war and friends he met there. I was
scared he would agonize about the traumas he had. After his death, we went through photo books of
him and founds photos of him on the U.S.S Hancock. Seeing those pictures of him as a Gunner Mate
sparked an interest in the military and what it had to offer.
My grandpa, (J.W. Croney), was an excellent man and has given me much insight of what to become
in the future. He was the one who gave me goals, but also gave me rules. He always wanted for his

Patient Education For Patients And The Education
Introduction
Patient Education is dedicated to patients and the education we should be providing as health care
professional on a day to day basis. Patient Education is one of more important jobs we do in our career
as nurses. Children with chronic health problems or diseases such as on a pediatric
hematology/oncology unit, require skilled, home based care by parents, supported by professionals.
However, once patients are discharged, it is evident that there is a continuous need for online
resources to help supplement their learning and the professional support they may have received
during discharge. At this time, existing resources consist on patient/parent education at the bedside,
with supplemental handouts to back up the teaching. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dedicated to serving the specialized medical needs of children, from newborns to adolescents,
diagnosed with cancers such as leukemia, brain tumors, and blood related diseases such as hemophilia,
this 33 bed unit often has a full census with patients waiting to get in. They provide support for family
members as well as care for the unique needs of the oncology patient during all phases of their illness,
diagnosis, treatment, education, and when needed, end of life care. Being that it is a pediatric unit,
most of the education is done by the nurses directly to the parents or care givers of the children being
treated. But often times, the care givers are given educational information while under extreme stress,
still trying to process all the new information and quite often, they have not come to terms with their
child s new diagnosis. Other times, the nurse may be in a hurry, or may have other challenges that
factor into the lack of understanding. Some of those contributing factors could include; inadequate
knowledge or training of the clinicians, inconsistencies in quality of care, changes in current practice
guidelines, limited health literacy skills, conflicts with prior training implementation challenges, such
as language barriers, and lastly, inadequate resources for the care givers. It was this last contributing
factor that it was determined a change needed to take

reasoning of the justices? What is the significance of the case? The facts of the case was the police
officers came to Ms. Dollree Mapp home on May 23, 1957, on the suspicion that she was harboring a
bomb suspect and illegal betting equipment. The police officers ask to enter her home, but she refused
them entry into her home without a search warrant. The officers came back with a piece of paper, then
proceeded to break into Ms. Mapp home to search for bomb suspect, but no suspect was found, but
during the search officers found lewd and lascivious books; which was prohibited by Ohio state law to
have any obscene material in your possession. It would later found out that it was an illegal search and
seizure because the paper that the officer held was not a search warrant. Ms. Mapp was arrested,
prosecuted, found guilty and sentenced for possession of obscene materials. Ms. Mapp tried to appeal
the decision on the case, the Ohio Supreme Court recognized the unlawfulness of the search, but
upheld the conviction on the grounds established by the Supreme Court decision on Wolf v.

How Does Steinbeck Characterize Kino s Greed
Greed is a desire for something or selfishness and is not a favorable characteristic to possess. Greed is
depicted many ways throughout the novel The Pearl through the main character Kino, a poverty
stricken brush house Indian who finds the pearl of the world while pearl diving. Greed changed Kino
mentally and changed his life. Kino s greed reshaped his family, Juana and Coyotito, his wife and
baby, and destroys their lives as well. Kino tries to throw his desirous ways away, yet greed cannot
just walk out of his life in a simple way, it must take everything important to him first. Greed
overtakes Kino in a macabre way that one cannot imagine.
Hunger for more changed Kino mentally and his life as a whole. Kino became very greedy and left his

Review Of The Of The Castle Corridor
Worn out from spending ages getting Gawain settled into his bedchamber, Perceval lumbered down
the castle corridor and made it to his door. Carefully, he entered his quarters and took a quick glance
around the room; it was empty. His wife and their baby might be visiting with Carina, or Joan might
have taken Percy along on a patient visit.
Joan was an apprentice to Pawl, the Court Healer, and she had just started seeing a few patients again
here and there eight weeks after Percy s birth. Perceval would never stand in the way of his wife s
ambition to be a healer, but he worried about her returning to her duties so soon after having the baby,

Relaxed, Perceval s thoughts drifted to the last time he and Joan had sex, which had been right before
Percy s birth. Other knights complained to him sex with a pregnant spouse was awkward and some did
not care for it, and went so far as to visit the bawdy house instead, but Perceval thought they were all

Now, she lamented she looked like a deflated pig s bladder after birth, but Perceval declared that was

he saw that as beautiful and a badge of honor, though she disagreed. Though he did chuckle with her
about how her breasts had grown to twice their normal size since she was nursing. She told him to

My Educational Experience In High School
My educational past is complicated to say the least. Starting in the fourth grade, my mother pulled me
out of traditional schooling to homeschool me, while she ran a home daycare; however, while the idea
of being homeschool sounded great in the mind of a fourth grader my mind of a 20 year old knows
this wasn t the best idea for my educational experience. Until about the 8th grade my mother, an
alcoholic, rather than teaching me used me to work in her daycare while she grew more and more
incapable due to her growing addiction. Starting in the 8th grade I began to attend a co op funded by
the Tahoma school district, (Russell Ridge Center). Once I began making connections with both peers
and teachers, I began to realize how much I had missed out on both social and educational standards
that were met by a typical 8th grader. With the help of free tutoring from a select few teachers I
confronted about wanting to gain academic knowledge, I slowly caught up to the standard educational
goals, then pushed myself to succeed further. I became captain of our high school programs debate
team, earned the lead role in three musicals, and became stage manager of our local high schools
theater stage. My Junior year, I began to attend Green River Community College as part of the
Running Start program, earning a 3.5 GPA by the end of my first year. The next year I continued but
ran into some obstacles. As time went on my mothers addiction grew ten fold. It came to the point of

Essential Operations Of Information Systems
The essential operations of information systems sustained by of critical infrastructure rely on the
explicit functionality of software applications supporting complex, interdependent, information
systems. The software application provides the virtual framework for information systems to operate
efficiently in a critical infrastructure. Information systems consistently communicate with
supplementary information systems positioned throughout the network to support the infrastructure s
essential operations. The dependence of software and information systems increases, as businesses
require additional systems to automate critical operations. However, the connectivity and complexities
of information systems supporting critical infrastructure increases the critical infrastructure s exposure
rate of software vulnerabilities to advanced persistent threats. Conventionally, software application
facilitates process involved in auditing, configuring and distributing commands to augment
interdependent information system performance.
The security and safety of the nation s critical infrastructure are significantly relying on measures
implemented to ensure software resiliency and dependability. According to statistics released by the
National Security Agency (NSA) chief General Keith Alexander in 2013, about 90 percent of the
nation s critical infrastructure is owned by the private sector, and therefore is not under the control of

Examples Of Causative Verbs
Causative verb is used when talking about something that someone else did for another person. It
means that the subject caused the action to happen, but didn t do it themselves. Maybe they paid, or
asked, or persuaded the other person to do it. Causative verbs express an action which is caused to
happen. In other words, when someone has something done for me him cause it to happen. In other
words, he does not actually do anything, but asks someone else to do it for him. This is the sense of
causative verbs. Intermediate to advanced level English learners should study the causative verb as an

The Failure Of Communism And Communism
Joel Boyd
S.A. Middleton
HIST 130.10
22 April 2015
1. Discuss the seeming failure of communism and other forms of socialism and the apparent triumph
of capitalism in the 1990s, as well as considering capitalism s possible benefits and debits in the early
twenty first century.
Capitalism and Communism have both been put forth as the best models for modern enlightened
societies. Each philosophy contains both desirable and undesirable elements within its framework.
Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian
society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights,
freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its
strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in the
early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults.
Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto
published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no private
ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and likewise the
economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would work for the
common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority behind. Ideal
systems do not exist in nature. That statement stands alone as a pillar

Comparing Hobbe s and Locke s Theories on Nature
Two books that I am going to be drawing information from for my paper are Hobbes Leviathan and
Locke s Two Treatises of Government. This essay will be focusing on the differences between Hobbes
and Locke s ideas on the state of nature. One of the biggest, and in my opinion most important points
that makes Hobbes different from Locke is his belief that the state of nature is equal to the state of
war. Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher, who lived between 1588 and 1679. He witnessed
multiple events throughout his life that later led him to write his book Leviathan, in 1651 once the war
had ended. Hobbes witnessed the English Civil War (1642 1651), the interregnum period of England
starting in 1649, and the hardest of them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hobbes PAGE NUMBER)
After that Hobbes goes on to say, The life of man is solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short. (Hobbes)
He argues that nothing is unjust in the state of nature. He believes that everyone has the right to do
anything he/she wants because in the state of nature, there is no right or wrong and there is no law;
everyone can do everything and nothing can be unjust. He says that Where there is no common power,
no law; where no law, no injustice. (Hobbes)
So all in all with Hobbes, he believes that all people are equal, therefore no power over the others in
the state can be established. Everyone is the enemy to everyone else, therefore, no on can secure
himself/herself, there is no property, and nothing is unjust. So overall, Hobbes state of nature is very
pessimistic and is not a place to survive.
Locke s idea of the state of nature is that everyone is equal to everyone. He states that, the state of
nature is also the state of equality, wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one having
more than another.. (Locke) Locke however, does not think that this leads the people to war. He thinks
that the state of nature is NOT equal to the state of war, but there is a chance of it becoming the state
of war. He says that the person who committed the crime against a certain person puts himself in the
state of war with that

Terraces have long been considered to be one of the agricultural marvels of the human past. Existing
since the time of the Old World, terracing has increased the surface area of viable farmland while
helping to reduce soil erosion and limit water loss (Davidovich et al. 2012:192). Recently, scientists
have been aiming to discover more about past human settlements through the excavation and dating of
terraces using complex soil dating techniques. One such excavation project is located in the Ramat

define the agricultural landscape of the area. In order to accurately and efficiently put a date on these

Location itself played a significant role. The Holocene stream terraces are located along the San Pedro
River on a major floodplain. The flooding of the San Pedro and its two main tributaries combined with
the local precipitation levels causes the terraces to inevitably experience local erosion of bars and
infilling of swales (Onken et al. 2014:22). The dry climate of the Ramat Rahel region allows for the
terraces to remain, for the most part, out of contact with water that might erode the rock and sediment
and destroy possible archaeological finds. Differences in the main type of dating used also led to
differences in degree of accuracy. In Ramat Rahel, the primary test used was OSL dating. The
consistency of the results from all the land samples along with the formation of logical age clusters
upon further comparison testif[ies] to the direct relationship between the placement of the terrace fill,
wherever it is sourced, and the bleaching of the quartz within the sediments (Davidovich et al.
2012:203 204). The accuracy of the OSL results gave scientists fairly certain date approximations,
especially when compared to the results of the Holocene terrace dating. In the Holocene, radiometric
dating was used as the primary method; it provided broader dates and time ranges than did the OSL

Comparing Ovid s The Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The myth of Daedalus and Icarus has been approached by many different artists with many differing
depictions of the event. Some artists such as Ovid, chose to focus on Daedalus and Icarus and leave
everyone else out. Other artists, for instance, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and W. H. Auden, have much
more panoramic views of the situation and include others in their works. Different approaches can
leave the readers with different understandings of this ancient myth.
In Ovid s The Myth of Daedalus and Icarus, the author uses a third person point of view to closely
follow Daedalus and Icarus. From this, readers are more tightly attached to the characters and know
more about them. Readers of this story witness the inventing and engineering of the wings by
Daedalus and know the conflicting desires of Daedalus to escape from prison and to protect his son.
One thing that is emphasized in this story is the overwhelming sorrow of Daedalus, both before due to
fear of Icarus falling, and after due to the loss of his son. Ovid includes ... Show more content on

H. Auden, refers to the painting mentioned previously. Auden does not focus primarily on the fall of
Icarus, much like the painting, but chooses to concentrate more on artists and their depictions of
suffering. Auden says, the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry, But for him it was
not an important failure. The author is essentially verbalizing the painting Landscape with the Fall of
Icarus. Much like Icarus isn t a huge part of the painting, he is also given very little mention in this
poem. The underlying theme of this poem is that suffering is surrounded by the busyness of everyday
life. Even this poem is a perfect example of the overshadowing of suffering by other things, itself
overshadowing the tragic demise of Icarus with other mundane events. This also places Icarus story in
the hands of an outsider, leading readers to become less attached to Icarus and

Nucleosome Formation Executive Summary SUMMARY: This five year career development plan (CDP) is an integrated research, education, and outreach program which is concerned with the molecular dynamics and electronic structure studies of nucleosomes, which are complexes of DNA and proteins in chromatin which account for 75 90% of the packing of genomic DNA in mammalian cells. This CDP has four main goals: 1. To make a fundamental advance in the computational modeling of nucleosome stability. Understanding the base pair sequence dependence of the propensities for nucleosome formation has been a long sought goal in cell biology as nucleosome stability is thought to be an important component of transcriptional regulation. In particular DNA methylation and histone acetylation, which play key roles in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comparing Pluralist and Ruling Elite Accounts of Political Power in the U.K. and U.S. Whilst there are not any absolutely accurate interpretations of political power and political system, there are different controversial theories about those, among which, pluralist and ruling elite are the two fundamentally outstanding theories that both have echoing practical influences in the modern world of politics nowadays. In this essay, I shall try to attempt to briefly explain the two theories, going further on from this, to mainly compare and contrast these theories, especially taking into account the political power in the UK and US where modern democratic societies are claimed to exist and government is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrasting with pluralism, the theory of ruling elite suggests that government can and should be controlled by a small elite, as mobilising and communicating within a small group is far simplier and easier than that of the mass body. It can be seen as a minority which governs in its own interest and is unaccountable to the majority. It is defined by the possession of three characteristics: consciousness, coherence and conspiracy. Consciousness refers to the awareness of common interests, coherence means that it shares a common interest and conspiracy describes the capacity to act collectively. Ancient Greek philosopher Plato (427 347 BC.) argued that an intelligent elite, whom he styled Philosoher Kings , should government. In addition, the elitists shared a common sceptical view that democratic government is impossible and might be undesirable. They do not believe many interests are represented as political institutions rarely serve their formally stated purposes and instead represent whom they wish. Today there are pluralist influences as well as pluralist essences in both the US and UK politics. While both coasts offer travelers and natives a variety of places to eat, things to do, and places to see, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their states on the map with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each coast, there is something on each side for everyone. More often than not, people picture California and the Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking comes from the idea that Hollywood, the city of dreams, consumes California entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems throughout each state. These cycles of projection and introjection continue until the infant realizes that the good mother and the bad mother are one and the mother whom he phantasized of destroying is the same mother he loves. Once the minimum wage goes up will employers be able to successfully employ the same amount of workers as when the minimum wage was lower or will they be able to higher on new workers as they need them? This is one of the concerns of many in regards to the minimum wage increase. In Sanja Blazevic s article, Is Employment Decreasing Due to Minimum Wage Increase? , Sanja explains that many economists believe that a minimum wage increase causes most age groups of minimum wage workers to suffer. This is caused by jobs becoming more scarce after employers want to employ fewer people since they are being forced to pay them more than they would prefer to. Young workers (25 29) seeking a job of a minimum wage could see unemployment rise to close to 10% during a minimum wage hike (Blazevic) creating a significant unemployment problem. Other age ranges saw similar but not as extreme level of unemployment with a higher minimum wage. The only benefiting age range was that of those working for the minimum wage at the age of 60 65. This benefiting group however cannot outweigh the majority of those who face higher unemployment during a minimum wage hike. Except for religion, clothes, behavior, beliefs, or food, which define culture as a unique phenomenon, music enormously contributes to its existence in any period of the nation s development. Early American music is famous for a distinctive genre popular during the mid 1890s, called ragtime, notable for its special syncopation and composers. Ragtime used to be a solely American style of musical works composed of three or four strikingly different sections, in other words, strains, one of which was 16 or 32 measures in length. Due to an astonishing syncopation, namely replacement of the beat from its regular course of meter, ragtime compositions became both threatening and thrilling to the American youngsters. The displaced beat caused the listeners to feel hyperactive as well as evoked strong associations with so called low class music of the Negroes ( History of ragtime, n.d.). Although ragtime was composed for a piano, modern chronicles mention a significant role of the banjo in the development of this musical genre. Once he stepped foot onto that aircraft carrier he felt worried and feared he would not come back. This was the only thing that my grandpa ever told me about his past in the Korean War. However, it also got me intrigued in the United States Armed Forces. As he passed away, I just wished I would have asked him about the stories he must of had about the war and friends he met there. I was scared he would agonize about the traumas he had. After his death, we went through photo books of him and founds photos of him on the U.S.S Hancock. Seeing those pictures of him as a Gunner Mate sparked an interest in the military and what it had to offer. My grandpa, (J.W. Discuss the seeming failure of communism and other forms of socialism and the apparent triumph of capitalism in the 1990s, as well as considering capitalism s possible benefits and debits in the early twenty first century. Capitalism and Communism have both been put forth as the best models for modern enlightened societies. Each philosophy contains both desirable and undesirable elements within its framework. Communism is based on a firm belief that fiscal and social equality is the path to an ideal utopian society. Capitalism is based on the principle of individuality, and the exercise of individual rights, freedom, and the liberty to pursue advancement in a competitive free market. Each has shown its strengths and weaknesses. Over the course of time however only one has emerged successfully in the early 21st century, though not without its own egregious faults. Communism has its roots in the philosophy of Marx and Engels. In their Communist Manifesto published in 1848, they laid out the principles of communist society. In Communist society, no private ownership of property is allowed. Property should be shared among the people and likewise the economy. Through economic and social equality, the hope was that individuals would work for the common good of society, and leave the desire for advancement, power and authority behind. This essay will be focusing on the differences between Hobbes and Locke s ideas on the state of nature. One of the biggest, and in my opinion most important points that makes Hobbes different from Locke is his belief that the state of nature is equal to the state of war. Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher, who lived between 1588 and 1679. He witnessed multiple events throughout his life that later led him to write his book Leviathan, in 1651 once the war had ended. He says that Where there is no common power, no law; where no law, no injustice. (Hobbes) So all in all with Hobbes, he believes that all people are equal, therefore no power over the others in the state can be established. Everyone is the enemy to everyone else, therefore, no on can secure himself/herself, there is no property, and nothing is unjust. So overall, Hobbes state of nature is very pessimistic and is not a place to survive. Locke s idea of the state of nature is that everyone is equal to everyone. He states that, the state of nature is also the state of equality, wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one having more than another.. (Locke) Locke however, does not think that this leads the people to war. He thinks that the state of nature is NOT equal to the state of war, but there is a chance of it becoming the state of war. The Holocene stream terraces are located along the San Pedro River on a major floodplain. The flooding of the San Pedro and its two main tributaries combined with the local precipitation levels causes the terraces to inevitably experience local erosion of bars and infilling of swales (Onken et al. 2014:22). The dry climate of the Ramat Rahel region allows for the terraces to remain, for the most part, out of contact with water that might erode the rock and sediment and destroy possible archaeological finds. Differences in the main type of dating used also led to differences in degree of accuracy. In Ramat Rahel, the primary test used was OSL dating.
