The endocrine system is made up of glands that secrete hormones which affect organs, muscles, and other glands. Key glands include the pineal gland, which regulates circadian rhythms; the hypothalamus, which controls other endocrine glands; and the pituitary gland, known as the "master gland." The pituitary gland regulates growth and metabolism through hormones like growth hormone, while other important glands are the thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, ovaries, and testes. These glands work together to regulate processes throughout the body like metabolism, stress response, sexual development, and more.
