Femme Fatale Analysis
The largely stereotyped femme fatale is often generalised as being a piece of the classic genre of film
noir. But as much as the femme fatale is seen as representative of noir, and vice versa, when analyzing
the characteristics of noir the classic hard edged American film the presence of a femme fatale
interferes with the very idea of, as Angela Martin would say, hardboiled film noir. Films such as
Mildred Pierce, Gilda, and Klute, though objectively different, hold a commonality in that they all
present some aspects of film noir while not being seen as entirely so. Mildred Pierce presents
flashback narration and shots dominated by shadows, Gilda uses the well known role of the femme
fatale, but deviates from classic noir by presenting aspects of the femme fatal in two decidedly
different characters. And finally, Klute uses the trope of noir characters torn by psychological
dilemmas and internal discourse along with many other comparably noir characteristics while still
seeming to exist outside of the film noir genre. Dark and shadowy mise en scene shots are
characteristic of film noir, setting the tone for the sense of hopelessness that is often ingrained in the
narrative of classic noir. Along with what Sylvia Harvey describes as, ...the prevalence of shadows and
areas of darkness within the frame, the visual tension created by curious camera angles... , noir often
includes narrative voice overs, especially flashback narration. When analyzing Michael Curtiz s 1945

Pholological Differences Between Mandarin and English
Language Studies 172 Assignment 1 :Essay on Language comparison. By: Kyle Sibson 14189702
Assessment 1 For this assessment I have been required to compare English with another language. I
have decided to choose Mandarin as my language of choice. A major elements of languages will be
compared in this essay. That being phonology. Phonology is defined as being the study of the way
speech sounds form patterns .(Victoria Fromkin 2009). As (Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken
language has a unique system whereby sounds are organised. This unique pattern of pattern can be
termed phonology and varies widely in geographical and social differences. English is the most widely
spoken language in the world with up to a total of up to 1.8 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yinyue  Pattern Two: Primary Stress + Unstressed (/ + o) e.g. Xihuan ɕ
Pattern Three: Primary Stress + Normal Stress (/ + ) e.g. Reqing. [ɻtɕi Tone is one of the most
important aspects of Mandarin; they can change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of
how we say the syllable. There are for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are
high, rising, falling rising and falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of
how tones can change a meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother,
with a rising tone it means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means
to scold. We can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being
asked(Taochung Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones
are correct as if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the
analysis of both English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical
reason for Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made
whereas in English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the
importance of stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. While stress in English
can change a noun to a verb or even change the complete meaning of the word, stress in mandarin is
only used on certain

Intercultural Marriage Essay example
Caroline Hwang made the point in her essay quot; The Good Daughter quot; that as a first generation
American her parents expected her to marry a Korean man. Hwang decided to only date the non
Korean men which she knew she could quot;stay clearheaded about so she could fulfill her parent s
wishes and bear children that looked Korean.
In the essay Your Place is Empty quot; by Anne Tyler the decision to marry within cultural boundaries
was not made. Hassan (a young doctor who took up practice in America) decided to marry Elizabeth
(a very American girl). Hassan s mother decides to take a trip to America and stay as a house guest.

This caused minor difficulties while doing laundry. Mrs. Ardavi had to used a special rack which she
ran under water in the shower (because Elizabeth assembled it) to do her laundry.
Hilary is another matter altogether. Hilary is only three years old and doesn t understand why her
grandmother acts so differently. At most times she doesn t even seem to care. Though she is not
Muslim or full blooded Iranian Mrs. Ardavi still had no problem treating Hilary as if she was Iranian
and a part of the family. Hilary seemed to be the largest commonality between the women. The scene
in which Hilary seemed to bring the women closer the most is when Mrs. Ardavi first arrives and asks
to see her. The smells of milk and rubber, and talcum powder, smells she would know anywhere. Even
in the half light from the hallway, she could tell that Hilary was beautiful. She had black, tumbling
hair, long black lashes, and a skin of a tone they called wheat colored, lighter than Hassan s. In this
part Mrs. Ardavi shows that Hilary is not part of any real category yet, not Christian or Muslim so she
may be considered an innocent still. The issue of Hilary s status as being clean or unclean is just not
discussed.
Hilary was also the main subject of some of the disagreements between Elizabeth and Mrs. Ardavi.
The methods of child rearing that Elizabeth used on Hilary were at times quite different from those
which Mrs. Ardavi had at one point used on her own sons or sometimes suggested.

Comparison Between 20 Key Arguments For And Against Abortion
Abortion is a concept that has been widely debated for years according to Roe V. Wade Turns 40, But
Abortion Debate Is Even Older , it is a argument that has been going on since the 1950 s , but the big
question is will the debate of whether abortion is pro choice or murder ever truly be over ?
Using the articles 20 Key Arguments For and Against Abortion and Should Abortion Be Legal I ll be
analyzing the opinions of pro life and pro choice views of abortion written by different authors that
share some different views of why they believe it is wrong or right. Linda Lowen the arthur of 20 Key
Arguments For and Against Abortion , used more opinion based facts in contrast to Should Abortion
Be Legal but neither of the authors are prejudice to either side of the argument. The article ¨Should
Abortion Be Legal uses a lot of surveys from universities and medical centers to back up there point
of view on why abortion is pro choice. The pro life argument uses surveys from the same sources but
they also use scriptures from the old testament and a statement in the hippocratic oath that doctors take
forbidding abortion. They argue that abortion is helping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle
(Gibbs G, 1988)
The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about
the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing
the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every stage
is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses.
Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the
patient s family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, Tabbner, 2013). All
these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to analyze
the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround nurses are
disagreement between the nurse and the patient s family, rudeness from fellow workers, physical
injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After describing
the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation. Description of the
feelings will help increase self awareness of the consequences in a positive way and effects of the
problem.
After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step
will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences
without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for

Project Evaluation And Selection Of Interconnected Projects
As traffic increases and links become congested, people may suffer delays and long travel time for
their daily trips. Planners may decide to improve this situation for people in the area. One of the
options for improving the conditions of traveling in the congested area is link expansion. Link
expansion projects in transportation networks are almost always interdependent. When capacity of one
link in a network changes it affects the flow of other links, and may shift bottle necks elsewhere
throughout the network. In other words with respect to this expansion in one link, flow in other links
may increase or decrease due to interdependency among them. So finding a sequence for a set of
improvement projects needs consideration of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Wang and Schonfeld. 2005) Along the same lines, simulation based genetic search can be time
consuming but with the advent of new technology and higher speed Processors, this problem is
becoming less significant. Existing Studies mainly focuses on selecting and scheduling of projects
with the assumption of being independent. There are two approaches which are commonly used for
solving project selection and sequencing. The first approach is integer programming (Weingartner
1966; Cochran et al. 1971; Clark et al. 1984; Johnson et al. 1985) and the second one is dynamic
programming (Weingartner 1966; Nemhauser and Ullman 1969; Morin and Esogbue 1971;
Erlenkotter 1973; Morin 1974). [2] The first defect of these approaches is the difficulty of capturing
the interdependencies among projects, and the second one is the inefficiency or even the infeasibility
of the results in the case of responding to larger problems. Martinelli (1993) proposed a heuristic
method for selecting and scheduling interdependent waterway investment projects. The results of this
method are based on an evaluation to compare various combinations of project implementation over a
time period. This method begins by establishing an initial sequence based on an independent
evaluation. Then the initial solution is adjusted by using a heuristic which performs a swap (or swaps)
in the sequence. This is done by plotting system cost

INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction to Quality and Quality Control
Quality is relative term and it is generally explain with reference to the end use of the product.
The components is said to be of good quality if it works well in the equipment for which it is meant.
Quality is defined as fitness for the purpose.
Quality is the degree of customer satisfaction.
Quality signifies the degree of general excellence of a product.
Quality is the degree to which a product meets the requirements of the customers.

It can be defined as the entire collection of activities which ensure that the operation will produce
optimum quality products at minimum cost.
It is a systematic control of various factors that affect the quality of product. It depends upon,
machine, tools, labour, material, working conditions etc.
The procedure for meeting quality goods is known as quality control.
1.1.3 Seven QC Tools
Seven QC tools are fundamental instruments to improve the quality of the product. They are used to
analyze the production process, identify the major problems, control fluctuations of product quality,
and provide solutions to avoid future defects. Statistical literacy is necessary to effectively use the
seven QC tools. These tools use statistical techniques and knowledge to accumulate data and analyze
them.

where government has got the control of the resources and contributes and the market has got the rest

Tesco became part of manufacturing industry and in this case they provided their own goods, value,

Government plays an important role in economic activity, in order to maintain a steady growth, high
level of employment and stability of prices. To do that, government has to adjust spending and tax
rates (fiscal policy) or to manage the money supply and control the use of credit (monetary policy).

Insects Pollination
Insects are some of the most important creatures in our world. They play a very large role in many
tasks that are vital to human surviva,l like pollinating and effective decomposing. Insects have
impacted science, environment, human development, and food supply in a variety of ways. Insect
pollination is one of the primary beneficial functions of insects on human development. Insect
pollination as we all know, is the process that enables reproduction and fertilization by the transfer of
pollen performed by insects. Insects are some of the oldest pollinators of plants. Pollinating insects
date back to 140 million years ago. Since then, due to how effective insect pollinators are, these

Yet many of these diseases affect man s economy profoundly by spreading disease not only among
man, but also among his livestock. There are also the groups of diseases known as arthropod borne
zoonosis, which are primarily diseases of animals transmitted to man by arthropods. For
understanding the role of insects in spreading disease, knowledge of the biology of the insects, as well
as the biology of the pathogens they transmit, is essential. Along with causing plagues throughout the
world, insects have played a major role in wars. Diseases transmitted to soldiers from insects have had
enormous effects on warfare in our history. For instance, during the Vietnam War there were a larger
number of casualties due to insect transmitted diseases than deaths due to the fighting of war. In cases
where such losses of men and resources are one sided, the actions of insects have determined the
outcome of entire wars and thus have altered the course of history. Studying insects has played an
important role in the development and understanding of biology. Insect s genetics, ecology, and
mainly their life cycles have contributed a lot to biology. A man name Antoni van Leeuwehoek, a

Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party
Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties have been present.
These parties have had many influences on our government from their formation. Some of these
influences that the parties have had were good, other were bad. Within our modern government,
parties, have become a major impact and have had much influence. These parties are present to push
their agendas and accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that
these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the three branches of
government; the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial Branch. Political parties
have a massive influence on the Executive branch, or the president. The two party political system is
the fore ground of our modern presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates
that the country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat. As the
American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control on the selection of a
candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American Government textbook shows that the influence
the party system has on the Executive branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates
that the country gets to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential election by
holding primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the

Mainstreaming of Learning Disabled into Regular Classroom
The classroom scenario that I chose to present relates to the mainstreaming of the learning disabled
into a regular classroom. The portrayal that I am going to use will be one of a veteran teacher who will
be mainstreaming learning disabled into her classroom. I hope that you find this appropriate and
fulfilling as I did. Twenty year veteran teacher, whom we will call Mrs. H., has been told that her
classroom is soon to be mainstreamed with learning disabled students. Mrs. H is not very agreeable to
this idea, yet she knows that she has to accept it as part of her current position as educator. Principal G
has been approached by the parents of the learning disabled with complaints that the students in Mrs.
H class are not being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third question was regarding whether the student should remain in the general classroom; 41%
responded yes, 27% said it depended on certain factors, 26% said no, and 6% were unsure. The fourth
and final question was whether the learning disabled student in the general classroom presented the
teacher with more demands. Not surprising to me was the fact that 68% responded yes, 25%
responded no, and 7% were unsure. My personal interpretation of this survey in relation to the
mainstreaming situation is very direct. Many educators feel the learning disabled students are different
from the other students. They lack the skills to succeed, therefore the classroom needs to be adjusted
for them. Almost half of the educators felt the students could remain in the general classroom, while
about a quarter of them wanted the learning disabled removed and another quarter would allow the
student to remain if he met certain factors. Those teachers who did not want to conform and allow the
student to remain need to be presented with options for adapting their methods of academic
presentation, infiltration to peer discussion groups and evaluation procedures. References Kreinberg,

The Formation of Hurricanes Essay
The Formation of Hurricanes
Hurricanes begin as tropical storms over the warm moist waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans
near the equator. (Near the Philippines and the China Sea, hurricanes are called typhoons.) As the
moisture evaporates it rises until enormous amounts of heated moist air are twisted high in the
atmosphere. The winds begin to circle counterclockwise north of the equator or clockwise south of the
equator. The relatively peaceful center of the hurricane is called the eye. Around this center winds
move at speeds between 74 and 200 miles per hour. As long as the hurricane remains over waters of

death toll at least 25 in Ivan s wake
We only have basic knowledge of general hurricane occurrence there are no atmospheric conditions
that can be measured to predict where a hurricane will develop. Therefore we can only forecast its
path when it s formed. The National Hurricane Center in Miami, searches for potential hurricanes in
their early stages and track them through their life cycle until they decay and die.
Satellites detect hurricanes in their early stages of development and can help to provide early warnings
of hurricanes. Special aircrafts fitted with instruments fly through and over hurricanes, and weather
radar can locate storms within 200 miles of the radar station.
Hurricane Ivan
Hurricane Ivan continues to make the headlines. It is not classified as a hurricane anymore, and its
remains are now classified as a weak tropical depression. The last of Ivan has now moved away from
the mid Atlantic coast but before it did so it managed to produce large amounts of rain over vast

We Must Educate Ourselves Before Passing Laws Restricting...
Biotechnology and genetic engineering involve the cloning of animal cells and organisms, but they
also involve the alteration of an organism in an effort to make it more perfect, whether it is a crop, an
animal, or even a human being. Obviously the cloning of humans or the cloning of human cells is
much different than the cloning of genetically superior livestock or a better quality, higher yielding
food crop, and people throughout the world realize this. The cloning of human beings has become one
of the worst fears in our society today and for that reason many laws have been passed throughout
European countries and North America in an effort to ban human cloning. For most people, it becomes

These experiments were conducted using skin cells from frog embryos and used a method known as
nuclear transplantation, or nuclear transfer. This process utilized a procedure known as enucleation in
which the nucleus of an egg cell is removed and replaced with the nucleus of a parent cell. The new
nucleus in the egg contains the same genetic material as the parent cell, and then, the fertilized egg
becomes an embryo. The nucleus and all genetic material in the egg having been replaced with the
genetic material of the parent cell, would now become an exact replica, or clone of the parent
organism. John Gurdon, a molecular biologist at Oxford University in England, conducted further
research using the method of nuclear transplantation in the 1960 s and 1970 s. In 1966, he was able to
produce adult frogs using nuclei from tadpole intestine cells. Obviously, this proved that any cells,
whether they be skin cells, blood cells, or even cells from an organism s intestinal tract could be used
to create an exact replica of that creature.
In the early 1980s, a much simpler cloning procedure, which is known as artificial twinning, was
developed. In this procedure, the early embryo is split into individual cells or groups of cells, which
happens naturally with twins, triplets, and other multiple births. This obviously allows each new cell
to develop into its own embryo, and then those embryos are

Langston Hughes Poem Cubes
Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from
France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of liberté, égalité, fraternité
(or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two
stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then
goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France.
Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem
shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact,
they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint .
In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these
things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ...

brotherhood/sisterhood felt between these people. He refers to a collective group of them as the back

women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease
from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing
(which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly
not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the
French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. It starts

a crisis. Typically a plan will cover all the key personnel, resources, services and actions required to
implement and manage the DR process (comission, 2014).
A large US public power provider, with millions of residential and business customers, needed to
rethink its disaster recovery program. Due to budget constraints, the utility s data recovery program

After getting the basic view of DRP, then we start to find the related new technology of modernization
of DRP technologies thus upgrade the system performance from taking 20 days to recovery to shorter
days to meet the board directors demand.
4.0 Findings
4.1 The status of the company DRP
The conventional DRP of the company has not been updated or tested for several years. Under the
existing program, system recovery could take up to 20 days which is unacceptable timeframe for a
utility relied upon by numerous states for critical infrastructure services.
We found that a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) had never been performed to prioritize disaster
recovery based on the cost of loss. We also found a significant lack of integration of disaster recovery
governance into the overall organizational structure.
We worked with the utility to perform a BIA to identify critical business processes, the likelihood of
service disruption, and the projected cost of loss. We then helped the utility understand the business
risks of systems and technology services interruption.
The team prioritized investments for disaster recovery initiatives, and in conjunction with business
unit leaders, designed a tiered model highlighting recovery priorities. These priorities were validated
with IT infrastructure leaders to help ensure alignment. As failover

Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories of
corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday
conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws have
been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes and
punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the evolution of
law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age.
Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the medieval
age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly revolved around
the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime was defined by
ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s conception of sin were
handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to define crime became a
duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to define crimes, even crimes
of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until the introduction of the
inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. However, it was said This form of prosecution
gave little power to judges. (Crime and Punishment 2004).
Crimes and punishments were often made to be equal for both commoners and aristocrats. Crimes
were divided by the

Before World War 2, Adolf Hitler stated that Germany is socialist but changed his views regularly.
After World War 2, Germany got split in half by the United States, France, Soviet Union, and New

made East Germany democratic and the Soviet Union made West Germany communist. By having a

three main figures responsible for the economic policy, the chancellor, minister for economics, and

Tips for Good Print Design
Student Network Resources Inc. Some factors to consider for good print design are accurate use of
bleeds, edges, cropping, color, and elements of typography. Text should not be cut off or flowing over
into the folding of brochures or the next newsletter columns. Print layout and design elements must
meet in order to produce excellent advertising copy. Bleeding Bleeding occurs when a design element
such as print or an image extends further than the edge of the margins or page. Sometimes this can be
intended for effect, but is viewed as unprofessional if unintentional (Graphic Fetish, 2009). Cropping
Crop marks, cropping is an element used to trim off the unnecessary parts of a picture image, or page.
The crop marks are the cutting lines that are guides to setting areas being cut. Color Schemes Color
can draw or detract from a print design. Using complementary colors in print can give warmth and an
inviting feel to the print or it can bore the audience (Graphic Fetish, 2009). Understanding how to
properly use color is important in reaching an audience or highlighting the capture of an eventful
moment (Wildfire.com, 2012). Typography design refers to how the printed material is laid out. Is the
print copy effective in relaying the message to the audience or does it disrupt or interfere with the
message (Kyrnin, 2012). The lack of proper consideration of such factors will result in unattractive
spacing issues that show up when the design is flattened out or

The Importance Of College Sports
College sports continue to be one of the largest businesses in America, with millions of viewers, jobs,
and players. For the countless numbers of amateur athletes, college sporting events represent high
quality competition, education about the sport, and shear excitement of cheering on the favorite team.
Although sporting equality differs in the minds of people, I encourage athletes to focus on the
academic side of school. Within all the publicity these highly recruited players receive, the rules
appear to bend based on the students athletic ability. Even with college football being the third most
popular sport in America, I firmly disapprove that the academic standard for athletes should be
lowered. I do like to party when the sun comes out. On many LSU football teams, half of the players
make up a group called special admits ; this means large groups of athletes do not gain the academic
knowledge and achievements as the normal students do. The undeniable issue brought forth by
colleges doing this is that no matter how talented a player is, they will not be able to play any sport
their entire lives; therefore, it is impeccable that every college athlete receives a desirable education.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) voted to increase academic standards for
athletes, reduce the amount of money players receive, and limited practice time so school work
acquires the majority of their day. As long as academic budgets are miniscule compared to athletic

Negotiation Is Important And Vital Skill Today s Modern...
Introduction: Negotiation is an important and vital skill in today s modern world. In the famous words
of John F. Kennedy, Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate (Kennedy).
Our words hold a great deal of power, and how we use them is important as well. Through negotiation,
common ground can be discovered and uncovered, making strives for a better future. Negotiation: In
our set of lecture notes, there is an entire lecture devoted to negotiation and the two kinds of
negotiation distributive and integrative. Distribute negotiation is defined as a win or lose negotiation,

Both sides must be creative at coming up with things that are good for both of you (Smith). A website

Preparation is key, and know the party you are negotiating with. Have a strategy, and know your offer
and reasoning behind it. Lastly, go for a win win solution. Your goal should be to secure a good deal
without extracting the last pound of flesh from the other party (Sanibel). Situation: I live in an
apartment with two other ladies, one of which is very messy, rude, and immature. Truth be told she is
not mature enough to be living on her own, however, somehow she scrapes the money together each

It is estimated that about 1.8 million hectares of Amazonian forests were lost between 2001 and 2015

The Unsung Heroes of Beowulf In Ovid s epic Beowulf there is no contesting that Beowulf, son of
Ecgtheow, is a force to be reckoned with. A hero with many mythical deeds and feats under his belt,
but he is not the sole hero of this tale. Rather, he is a morally ambiguous protagonist with the mystical
powers to back him up. The true heroes of Beowulf are the unsung background fodder that often meet
gruesome ends. A mixed tale for these heroes begin as soon as Beowulf makes his debut at Heorot

Grendel stalks his immense form through the hall just looking for the first of many victims. One such
victim being the nail in the coffin as far as the illegitimacy of this portion of the story goes. he grabbed
and mauled a man on his bench bit into his bone lappings, bolted down his blood and gorged on him
in lumps, leaving the body utterly lifeless, eaten up hand and foot. (Beowulf 906 907)
A mauling such as this cannot be done silently. The devoured warrior would no doubt have been
woken from his slumber immediately. As the monster would feed on the man s flesh it would
undoubtedly wake the others. If this is indeed the case then it can only mean one thing. Those men
sleeping alongside Beowulf are among the bravest and most disciplined thanes that were likely to
exist. They would have shown great restraint in not making their consciousness known. Meaning they
had to lie there in silence as one of their very own was ripped apart in what had to be a very gruesome
affair. A fact only strengthened by their response when Grendel s mother assaults the hall. All while
Beowulf did the same, but that is to be expected of a man of his caliber. Since no man moved during
this time it allowed Grendel to fall into a sense of false security. Allowing the beast to fatally fall into
the trap that Beowulf had laid out.

Galilen s Impact On The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution was crucial for the development of science. During the 16th and 17th
century, after the reformation, the scientific revolution had begun. The scientific methods and thoughts
had seen change, however the members of the church did not like this. From the renaissance and the
enlightenment, many individuals were interested in contributing to the world with their ideas ands
many individuals were able to formulate conclusions. There were three men that were crucial in
shaping the scientific revolution. Galileo was a crucial figure in shaping the scientific revolution in
various subjects including astronomy. Nicoloaus Copernicus was a key figure and changed the way
man viewed the universe. As well as, Isaac Newton is known as one of the most influential figures due
to his contributions in astronomy. The impact of the scientific revolution was positive as seen through
Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Nicoloaus Copernicus.
Galileo had a positive impact on the scientific revolution as he contributed to physics, astronomy,
mathematics and philosophy. He has constructed his own telescope in 1609 and the telescope helped
him see and be able to explain the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter and the phases of Venus. He
was also able to witness innumerable stars that he had never seen before. As he stated, The Milky Way

The Cow Taught Me How

Life is dangerous, that s what makes it interesting. John Twelve Hawks
The best thing I ever did for myself was throw a stick at a cow. Not an overly extravagant

day so hot I could practically taste burnt air, my father took my two sisters and me down to the barn.
It wasn t the most attractive place in the world, but to my eyes it was an adventure waiting to happen.

crossing my arms and huffing in annoyance. Now it was all up to me. It was almost like a superhero

My feet bounded forward in a blaze of six year old glory. The glitzy rainbows on my tennis shoes

careful precision I scanned the ground, looking for some sort of weapon. Since there isn t much of an

One important contribution that Antoine Lavoisier made to chemistry was the conservation of mass. In

The Lion King The movie The Lion King is an animated movie of a young lion cub (Simba) who is
tricked into leaving his homeland and his throne by his evil Uncle Scar who murdered his father.
Simba then runs away and grows up outside the pride lands when all of a sudden he is forced to face
his past again. He must decide, is he an outcast, or the rightful ruler and King of the pride lands
(IMDB)?
This movie is absolutely amazing: a 10/10. It is a great movie for all ages and even for adults. The
music does a fantastic job playing with your emotions and giving you a true connection to the
characters in the film. The tempos and the beats go along perfectly with the action scenes, making
them feel real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perfect because how else does a director show such characteristics in an animated animal movie.
The Low angle used in the movie worked wonders. It showed the power of the character and who is in
charge now. The High angle is used to show weakness and that s exactly what it did in the movie and
it was perfect. It really gave a strong feel of victory in the end. The eye level angles are the angles
mostly used in the movie (90 95%). These angles give you the expressions of the characters. The
animators did extraordinary work on these angles. These angles really make the movie (IMDB).
The framing and shots of a movie really give us a sense of what is in and what is out. It gives the
viewer an idea of the setting, time, and or relationship of characters. There are a few long shots in the
movie. These shots are often used in the beginning or end of the movie. In the Lion King these shots
really help with letting the viewer know that the movie is over and that Simba won. Close up shots are
the most used shots in a movie. These shots show emotion and popular aspects of a character. In The
Lion King these shots are great. They do what they are supposed to. The emotion given by these shots
is fantastic, and really connects with the audience. The Pan shots are really good given the fact that the
movie is animated. These shots occur when the camera is moving from left to right giving a good view
of the surrounding area.

Superhero Research Paper
Top Five Superheroes Who Will Never Get A Movie!
Superhero movies are gold to Hollywood right now... well except maybe to Fox... and it really looks
like every character is from Marvel and DC s publishing history are being considered for animated or
film projects. I mean, did you ever think there was going to be an Aquaman movie outside of
Entourage?
That being said, there are a few characters that will never get their own film. Here s our top five.
Number Five: Matter Eater Lad
A member of the Legion of Super Heroes, Matter Eater Lad has the great power to eat anything. In the
comics, Keith Giffen actually managed to make this work and focused on other aspects of the
character but we still have a hard time believing we will ever see the tag line You Will Believe A Boy
Can Eat coming to theatres anytime soon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And if this didn t sound bad enough, his villains include the likes of Instant Replay, an assassin that
can hop back through time but only a little bit.
Number Three: Brother Power The Geek
This may be a controversial choice as many comic book writers have a fondness for Brother Power
but at the end of the day, Brother Power is a mannequin in used hippy clothes brought to life by
lightning. We ve already got an awesome mannequin movie starring Kim Cattral... called
Mannequin... it was released in 1987... yeah, we re old.
Number Two: Doorman
Having the ability to create doors to somewhere else is a pretty awesome power. Creating doors to
another adjoining room... not so much. Doorman is a member of Marvel s Great Lake Avengers and he
has the ability to teleport... into the next room. Essentially he s great if you re sitting down to watch a
movie or the game and you forgot to grab the chips from the kitchen.

Elizabethan Era Essay
Elizabethan Era Then and now
Elizabethan Era is one of many memorable and important events in England. It got its name from
Queen Elizabeth, the queen who ruled that era. The Elizabethan age is an era that inspired national
pride through classical ideals, poetry, literature, and more. There are three aspects the states that the
Elizabethan era as the Golden Age and it is their military power, government, and most importantly

During this period your life is determined by your gender or your wealth. Their clothing varied among
their social classes, with that being said a person who wears old or lame clothes would be in the lower
class such as farmers and the people who wear nice or extravagant clothes would be in the higher class
such as nobles. Today people can wear anything that they want to wear; a poor person can have stylish
clothes and the rich could wear old or dirty clothes. Their entertainment was extremely important to
the people who lived in the Elizabethan era. Elizabethan entertainment was popular when there was
something to celebrate and it often occurred nightly, but there were different types of entertainment
among the classes in England. Rich would do things which the poor couldn t do or afford such as
watch plays, go hunting, jousts among knights, and more. The poor or the middle class would simply
just listen to travelling musicians and actors or to watch public plays. Today rich could only have
entertainment, because the poor has to work to feed themselves and has no spare money to do such
lavish things such as watching movies, going to a basketball game, or go to a concert. During this
period women were considered inferior to men and were not allowed to have a job, this required men
to become the sole source of the family income and to represent it. They would usually work their
whole life to provide for their family and to raise the social ranking or title. Today men and women
were treated as equals and women could be the one to provide for the

The Project Background Of Vehicle Safety
The Project Background
Vehicle safety is of upmost importance for automotive manufactures as having an unsafe vehicle can
mean the company will not be able to sell its new vehicle to the public. Each country has their own
legislation of vehicle safety which manufacture has to abide by and produce documentation to prove
that the vehicle is safe, in order to sell its vehicle in that particular country. Independent testing
organisations, such as Euro NCAP, perform a number of safety tests on new vehicles to confirm that
the vehicle conforms to legislation [1]. These tests also score the vehicle on different safety aspects.
Some manufactures use this score as a unique selling point of the vehicle so it is very important that it
achieves a good score [2].
One procedure tests vehicle rollover which is a particular risk to SUV s as they tend to have a higher
centre of gravity than other vehicles. This is a particular hazard as SUV s are becoming more popular
in today s society [3]. Vehicle roll over fatality accounts for 35% of all passenger vehicle fatalities in
the US in 2012 with 56% of fatalities occurring in SUVs [3]. The percentage of fatalities in SUV
rollover has reduced since 2003 however more research is needed to reduce it further. Whilst the test is
carefully designed there is always some chance that the vehicle will rollover even if it has passed the
test, thus endangering life. Therefore more research is needed to accurately simulate vehicle dynamics
during many

Evaluation Of A Strategic Management Process
Introduction
Most organizations put in place a strategic management process in order to identify long term
objectives and put in place action plans that will contribute to the achievement of these long term
objectives. The feedback control model is one of the many model used by management in order to
meet strategic goals by monitoring and regulating the organizations activities (Daft, 2016, p.661). The
provided feedback is used to determine if employees have met the standards or objectives set before
them through their performance. This model is comprised of four steps: establishment of standards,
measurement of standards, performance comparison in relation to standards and finally corrective
actions, when necessary. This paper will analyze the Five Stars case in relation to these four key steps.
Feedback Control System
The feedback control system was used in the Five Stars case in order to address the issue of teacher
accountability regarding students. The department of education wanted to ensure that student were
able to progress in their education despite their school system. Let s examine each step of the system
in relation to the Five Stars case.
Establishing Standards. The strategic management plan is comprised of long term and short term
objectives that designed around the vision of the organization. Managers have the responsibility of
setting up standards that must be followed by employees. According to Daft (2016), these standards
reflect activities or

influenza. Over ninety percent of deaths from the flu happen to those over 65 years of age. Seniors

Shingles Vaccine
Shingles, otherwise known as herpes zoster, is a painful skin rash that occurs on one side of the face or

Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World
Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed, the
two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example, Disney
World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland cut the
ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as Sleeping
Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other hand, Walt
Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured Cinderella Castle,
fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some similarities between the two
are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams
coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin trading. In contrast, the two parks have
different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels, restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When
Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre property and only had about eighteen attractions. However,
some of the rides featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On
the first day they opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt
Disney s dreams become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic
come to life. Sleeping Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high;
however it does seem to be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the
bottom and as the builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops
carrying merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic
Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the
castles were built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at
the beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different
themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has rides
that go along with the theme. For example, Tomorrowland is home

  • 2. Femme Fatale Analysis The largely stereotyped femme fatale is often generalised as being a piece of the classic genre of film noir. But as much as the femme fatale is seen as representative of noir, and vice versa, when analyzing the characteristics of noir the classic hard edged American film the presence of a femme fatale interferes with the very idea of, as Angela Martin would say, hardboiled film noir. Films such as Mildred Pierce, Gilda, and Klute, though objectively different, hold a commonality in that they all present some aspects of film noir while not being seen as entirely so. Mildred Pierce presents flashback narration and shots dominated by shadows, Gilda uses the well known role of the femme fatale, but deviates from classic noir by presenting aspects of the femme fatal in two decidedly different characters. And finally, Klute uses the trope of noir characters torn by psychological dilemmas and internal discourse along with many other comparably noir characteristics while still seeming to exist outside of the film noir genre. Dark and shadowy mise en scene shots are characteristic of film noir, setting the tone for the sense of hopelessness that is often ingrained in the narrative of classic noir. Along with what Sylvia Harvey describes as, ...the prevalence of shadows and areas of darkness within the frame, the visual tension created by curious camera angles... , noir often includes narrative voice overs, especially flashback narration. When analyzing Michael Curtiz s 1945 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pholological Differences Between Mandarin and English Language Studies 172 Assignment 1 :Essay on Language comparison. By: Kyle Sibson 14189702 Assessment 1 For this assessment I have been required to compare English with another language. I have decided to choose Mandarin as my language of choice. A major elements of languages will be compared in this essay. That being phonology. Phonology is defined as being the study of the way speech sounds form patterns .(Victoria Fromkin 2009). As (Hammond 1999) describes, every spoken language has a unique system whereby sounds are organised. This unique pattern of pattern can be termed phonology and varies widely in geographical and social differences. English is the most widely spoken language in the world with up to a total of up to 1.8 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yinyue  Pattern Two: Primary Stress + Unstressed (/ + o) e.g. Xihuan ɕ Pattern Three: Primary Stress + Normal Stress (/ + ) e.g. Reqing. [ɻtɕi Tone is one of the most important aspects of Mandarin; they can change the meaning of a word just by changing the pitch of how we say the syllable. There are for tones in mandarin (5 if we include the neutral tone) which are high, rising, falling rising and falling. The diagram below shows the pitch of each tone. An example of how tones can change a meaning can be used with the word ma. Ma with a high tone means mother, with a rising tone it means hemp, with a falling rising tone means horse and lastly a falling tone means to scold. We can also say ma with a neutral tone indicates that a yes/no question are being asked(Taochung Yao 1997). So as shown, it is very important when speaking Mandarin that the tones are correct as if they are wrong they can change the entire meaning of a word. So based on the analysis of both English and Mandarin phonology, we can see that they vary greatly. The most logical reason for Chinese having tones is because only about up to 400 different syllables can be made whereas in English there are approximately 12000.(Gao 2002) Also shown in English is the importance of stress and pitch, which lack the same importance in Mandarin. While stress in English can change a noun to a verb or even change the complete meaning of the word, stress in mandarin is only used on certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hwang decided to only date the non Korean men which she knew she could quot;stay clearheaded about so she could fulfill her parent s wishes and bear children that looked Korean. In the essay Your Place is Empty quot; by Anne Tyler the decision to marry within cultural boundaries was not made. Mrs. Ardavi had to used a special rack which she ran under water in the shower (because Elizabeth assembled it) to do her laundry. Hilary is another matter altogether. Hilary is only three years old and doesn t understand why her grandmother acts so differently. At most times she doesn t even seem to care. Though she is not Muslim or full blooded Iranian Mrs. Ardavi still had no problem treating Hilary as if she was Iranian and a part of the family. Hilary seemed to be the largest commonality between the women. The scene in which Hilary seemed to bring the women closer the most is when Mrs. Ardavi first arrives and asks to see her. The smells of milk and rubber, and talcum powder, smells she would know anywhere. Even in the half light from the hallway, she could tell that Hilary was beautiful. She had black, tumbling hair, long black lashes, and a skin of a tone they called wheat colored, lighter than Hassan s. In this part Mrs. Ardavi shows that Hilary is not part of any real category yet, not Christian or Muslim so she may be considered an innocent still. The issue of Hilary s status as being clean or unclean is just not discussed. Hilary was also the main subject of some of the disagreements between Elizabeth and Mrs. Ardavi. The methods of child rearing that Elizabeth used on Hilary were at times quite different from those which Mrs. Ardavi had at one point used on her own sons or sometimes suggested. ... Wade Turns 40, But Abortion Debate Is Even Older , it is a argument that has been going on since the 1950 s , but the big question is will the debate of whether abortion is pro choice or murder ever truly be over ? Using the articles 20 Key Arguments For and Against Abortion and Should Abortion Be Legal I ll be analyzing the opinions of pro life and pro choice views of abortion written by different authors that share some different views of why they believe it is wrong or right. Linda Lowen the arthur of 20 Key Arguments For and Against Abortion , used more opinion based facts in contrast to Should Abortion Be Legal but neither of the authors are prejudice to either side of the argument. The article ¨Should Abortion Be Legal uses a lot of surveys from universities and medical centers to back up there point of view on why abortion is pro choice. The pro life argument uses surveys from the same sources but they also use scriptures from the old testament and a statement in the hippocratic oath that doctors take forbidding abortion. • 6. Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Gibbs G, 1988) The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every stage is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses. Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the patient s family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, Tabbner, 2013). All these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to analyze the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround nurses are disagreement between the nurse and the patient s family, rudeness from fellow workers, physical injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After describing the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation. Description of the feelings will help increase self awareness of the consequences in a positive way and effects of the problem. After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Project Evaluation And Selection Of Interconnected Projects As traffic increases and links become congested, people may suffer delays and long travel time for their daily trips. Planners may decide to improve this situation for people in the area. One of the options for improving the conditions of traveling in the congested area is link expansion. Link expansion projects in transportation networks are almost always interdependent. When capacity of one link in a network changes it affects the flow of other links, and may shift bottle necks elsewhere throughout the network. In other words with respect to this expansion in one link, flow in other links may increase or decrease due to interdependency among them. So finding a sequence for a set of improvement projects needs consideration of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Wang and Schonfeld. 2005) Along the same lines, simulation based genetic search can be time consuming but with the advent of new technology and higher speed Processors, this problem is becoming less significant. Existing Studies mainly focuses on selecting and scheduling of projects with the assumption of being independent. There are two approaches which are commonly used for solving project selection and sequencing. The first approach is integer programming (Weingartner 1966; Cochran et al. 1971; Clark et al. 1984; Johnson et al. 1985) and the second one is dynamic programming (Weingartner 1966; Nemhauser and Ullman 1969; Morin and Esogbue 1971; Erlenkotter 1973; Morin 1974). [2] The first defect of these approaches is the difficulty of capturing the interdependencies among projects, and the second one is the inefficiency or even the infeasibility of the results in the case of responding to larger problems. Martinelli (1993) proposed a heuristic method for selecting and scheduling interdependent waterway investment projects. The results of this method are based on an evaluation to compare various combinations of project implementation over a time period. This method begins by establishing an initial sequence based on an independent evaluation. Then the initial solution is adjusted by using a heuristic which performs a swap (or swaps) in the sequence. For understanding the role of insects in spreading disease, knowledge of the biology of the insects, as well as the biology of the pathogens they transmit, is essential. Along with causing plagues throughout the world, insects have played a major role in wars. Diseases transmitted to soldiers from insects have had enormous effects on warfare in our history. For instance, during the Vietnam War there were a larger number of casualties due to insect transmitted diseases than deaths due to the fighting of war. In cases where such losses of men and resources are one sided, the actions of insects have determined the outcome of entire wars and thus have altered the course of history. • 12. Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties have been present. These parties have had many influences on our government from their formation. Some of these influences that the parties have had were good, other were bad. Within our modern government, parties, have become a major impact and have had much influence. These parties are present to push their agendas and accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the three branches of government; the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial Branch. Political parties have a massive influence on the Executive branch, or the president. The two party political system is the fore ground of our modern presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates that the country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat. As the American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control on the selection of a candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American Government textbook shows that the influence the party system has on the Executive branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates that the country gets to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential election by holding primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The portrayal that I am going to use will be one of a veteran teacher who will be mainstreaming learning disabled into her classroom. I hope that you find this appropriate and fulfilling as I did. Twenty year veteran teacher, whom we will call Mrs. H., has been told that her classroom is soon to be mainstreamed with learning disabled students. The fourth and final question was whether the learning disabled student in the general classroom presented the teacher with more demands. Not surprising to me was the fact that 68% responded yes, 25% responded no, and 7% were unsure. My personal interpretation of this survey in relation to the mainstreaming situation is very direct. Many educators feel the learning disabled students are different from the other students. They lack the skills to succeed, therefore the classroom needs to be adjusted for them. Almost half of the educators felt the students could remain in the general classroom, while about a quarter of them wanted the learning disabled removed and another quarter would allow the student to remain if he met certain factors. Those teachers who did not want to conform and allow the student to remain need to be presented with options for adapting their methods of academic presentation, infiltration to peer discussion groups and evaluation procedures. The winds begin to circle counterclockwise north of the equator or clockwise south of the equator. The relatively peaceful center of the hurricane is called the eye. Biotechnology and genetic engineering involve the cloning of animal cells and organisms, but they also involve the alteration of an organism in an effort to make it more perfect, whether it is a crop, an animal, or even a human being. Obviously the cloning of humans or the cloning of human cells is much different than the cloning of genetically superior livestock or a better quality, higher yielding food crop, and people throughout the world realize this. The cloning of human beings has become one of the worst fears in our society today and for that reason many laws have been passed throughout European countries and North America in an effort to ban human cloning. These experiments were conducted using skin cells from frog embryos and used a method known as nuclear transplantation, or nuclear transfer. This process utilized a procedure known as enucleation in which the nucleus of an egg cell is removed and replaced with the nucleus of a parent cell. The new nucleus in the egg contains the same genetic material as the parent cell, and then, the fertilized egg becomes an embryo. The nucleus and all genetic material in the egg having been replaced with the genetic material of the parent cell, would now become an exact replica, or clone of the parent organism. John Gurdon, a molecular biologist at Oxford University in England, conducted further research using the method of nuclear transplantation in the 1960 s and 1970 s. In 1966, he was able to produce adult frogs using nuclei from tadpole intestine cells. Obviously, this proved that any cells, whether they be skin cells, blood cells, or even cells from an organism s intestinal tract could be used to create an exact replica of that creature. In the early 1980s, a much simpler cloning procedure, which is known as artificial twinning, was developed. In this procedure, the early embryo is split into individual cells or groups of cells, which happens naturally with twins, triplets, and other multiple births. • 17. Langston Hughes Poem Cubes Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of liberté, égalité, fraternité (or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France. Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact, they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint . In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He refers to a collective group of them as the back girls in the palm huts (34). He indicates a sense of community between the men returning and the women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing (which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. • 21. Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age. Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. However, it was said This form of prosecution gave little power to judges. (Crime and Punishment 2004). Crimes and punishments were often made to be equal for both commoners and aristocrats. • 23. Tips for Good Print Design Student Network Resources Inc. Some factors to consider for good print design are accurate use of bleeds, edges, cropping, color, and elements of typography. Text should not be cut off or flowing over into the folding of brochures or the next newsletter columns. Print layout and design elements must meet in order to produce excellent advertising copy. Bleeding Bleeding occurs when a design element such as print or an image extends further than the edge of the margins or page. Sometimes this can be intended for effect, but is viewed as unprofessional if unintentional (Graphic Fetish, 2009). Cropping Crop marks, cropping is an element used to trim off the unnecessary parts of a picture image, or page. The crop marks are the cutting lines that are guides to setting areas being cut. Color Schemes Color can draw or detract from a print design. Using complementary colors in print can give warmth and an inviting feel to the print or it can bore the audience (Graphic Fetish, 2009). Understanding how to properly use color is important in reaching an audience or highlighting the capture of an eventful moment (Wildfire.com, 2012). Typography design refers to how the printed material is laid out. Is the print copy effective in relaying the message to the audience or does it disrupt or interfere with the message (Kyrnin, 2012). The lack of proper consideration of such factors will result in unattractive spacing issues that show up when the design is flattened out or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the countless numbers of amateur athletes, college sporting events represent high quality competition, education about the sport, and shear excitement of cheering on the favorite team. Although sporting equality differs in the minds of people, I encourage athletes to focus on the academic side of school. Within all the publicity these highly recruited players receive, the rules appear to bend based on the students athletic ability. Even with college football being the third most popular sport in America, I firmly disapprove that the academic standard for athletes should be lowered. I do like to party when the sun comes out. On many LSU football teams, half of the players make up a group called special admits ; this means large groups of athletes do not gain the academic knowledge and achievements as the normal students do. The undeniable issue brought forth by colleges doing this is that no matter how talented a player is, they will not be able to play any sport their entire lives; therefore, it is impeccable that every college athlete receives a desirable education. Monica, Augustine s mother, was a devout Christian and tried to raise her son as one also. Augustine was a natural born leader in school, but at the age of sixteen he was forced to leave because his father could no longer pay the tuition fees. Augustine turned to alcohol, gambling, and prostitutes. A year later Augustine was able to return to school and studied law. When his studies were completed at the age of eighteen he became a teacher. Augustine, despite his mother s wishes for him to be a Christian, became a Manichaean. Manichaeans believed that one god created good and another created evil, and that therefore no one was responsible for his or her sins. Monica fervently prayed for her son s conversion, but he was stubborn and refused to do so. A year later, while teaching in Milan, Augustine met Plato and Bishop Ambrose. Soon Manichaeism became increasingly dissatisfying for Augustine. He became fascinated with the teachings of Plato and was soon convinced that there was a single god. Augustine even began attending mass to hear Ambrose preach. It seemed as if Augustine was working to reform his life, but soon his lust took over and he reverted back to his previous ways. Augustine continued to teach, but his heart and soul felt empty. One day while sitting outside he heard a group of children chanting. Suddenly inspired by their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It showed the power of the character and who is in charge now. The High angle is used to show weakness and that s exactly what it did in the movie and it was perfect. It really gave a strong feel of victory in the end. The eye level angles are the angles mostly used in the movie (90 95%). These angles give you the expressions of the characters. The animators did extraordinary work on these angles. These angles really make the movie (IMDB). The framing and shots of a movie really give us a sense of what is in and what is out. It gives the viewer an idea of the setting, time, and or relationship of characters. There are a few long shots in the movie. These shots are often used in the beginning or end of the movie. In the Lion King these shots really help with letting the viewer know that the movie is over and that Simba won. Close up shots are the most used shots in a movie. These shots show emotion and popular aspects of a character. In The Lion King these shots are great. They do what they are supposed to. • 43. The Project Background Of Vehicle Safety The Project Background Vehicle safety is of upmost importance for automotive manufactures as having an unsafe vehicle can mean the company will not be able to sell its new vehicle to the public. Each country has their own legislation of vehicle safety which manufacture has to abide by and produce documentation to prove that the vehicle is safe, in order to sell its vehicle in that particular country. Independent testing organisations, such as Euro NCAP, perform a number of safety tests on new vehicles to confirm that the vehicle conforms to legislation [1]. These tests also score the vehicle on different safety aspects. Some manufactures use this score as a unique selling point of the vehicle so it is very important that it achieves a good score [2]. One procedure tests vehicle rollover which is a particular risk to SUV s as they tend to have a higher centre of gravity than other vehicles. This is a particular hazard as SUV s are becoming more popular in today s society [3]. Vehicle roll over fatality accounts for 35% of all passenger vehicle fatalities in the US in 2012 with 56% of fatalities occurring in SUVs [3]. The percentage of fatalities in SUV rollover has reduced since 2003 however more research is needed to reduce it further. • 46. Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed, the two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example, Disney World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland cut the ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as Sleeping Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other hand, Walt Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured Cinderella Castle, fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some similarities between the two are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin trading. In contrast, the two parks have different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels, restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre property and only had about eighteen attractions. However, some of the rides featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On the first day they opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt Disney s dreams become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic come to life. Sleeping Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high; however it does seem to be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the bottom and as the builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops carrying merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the castles were built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at the beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has rides that go along with the theme.
