Immediacy In Therapeutic Relationships
Therefore, it could be a more accurate portrayal of their interactions with other compared to how the
client perceive themselves to interact with others and what they say to the therapist. Immediacy can be
used to address and solve problems that come up in the context of the therapeutic relationship. For
example, if a client comes into therapy and acts very hostile towards the therapist, the therapist can
use immediacy and address how the client s behavior is affecting them. This could highlight others
behaviors in the client s life and foster the growth of the therapeutic relationship. If problems in the
therapeutic relationships are not addressed, the relationship can be negatively affected. Kasper et al.

The German Occupiers Is The Collection Of Short Stories
The narrative with the most strongly negative images of the German occupiers is the collection of
short stories Νιότη χωρίς τραγούδια by Sophia Fildisi published in 1978. There are no historical facts
incorporated in the narrative and the book requires little extra textual knowledge on behalf of the
young reader. Little to non existent is also the explanation of the historical and political causes of the
war, the responsibility for which is attributed to the insanity of the policymakers, to the θεόμουρλοι
που κουμαντέρνουνε τους λαούς to those που τα κεφάλια τους είχαν άχυρο . Fildisi goes beyond the
stereotyped image of the military and ruthless German that dominates a great deal of children s fiction
on the subject. In her book, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the identity of being a Nazi is subtracted from the identity of the German occupiers, the young
reader is likely to perceive Germanness as an intrinsic predisposition towards evilness . What is more,
when the responsibility for these atrocities is put on monsters and other metaphysical creatures and the
author fails to point out that it was ordinary people who carried out actions of extreme violence, much
like the people that the reader interacts with in their everyday life, the young reader s understanding of
the matter is put in a seriously wrong perspective. In stark contrast to the depiction of the German
occupiers as a personification of Evil is the portrayal of the Austrian soldier as the incarnation of
Good. The third story of the book is about a young boy, Minas, who sells his cross necklace to a
benevolent Austrian soldier and uses the money to celebrate Easter with his ill mother. When the
Austrian soldier hears about Minas s misfortunes he bursts into tears. Later, Minas is told by a
neighbour that the Austrian soldier does not support the cause of Hitler (δεν ήταν με του Χίτλερ τα
καμώματα). When Minas meets with the soldier, the Austrian puts down his rifle and holds the boy to
his chest with great affection, much to Minas s surprise. Later that day, the Austrian soldier gets shot
down while on his way to visit Minas.

Social Interaction Sociology
Social Interaction is the process in which two or more people act and react to those around them. A
field of study called Microsociology or Social Interaction was created by a sociologist by the name of
Erving Goffman. Goffman argued that these significant figures are important in the field of sociology
and should be consider carefully. Social interaction includes several different types of behavior. This
field called Social interaction is divided into five concepts such as Exchange, competition,
Cooperation, Conflict, Coercion. In our everyday lives we use each of these concepts, whether it s in
our schools, homes, work, etc.
Exchange
Exchange is one of the most basic concept of social interaction. Whenever an individual interacts to
receive something from another individual that, he/she has given to; That is how exchange has been
taken place. Exchange is being taken place in my school the University of Belize where by, I, the
student is being offered an education from my school and in return I should give them money. Another
example of how exchange is being made in our everyday lives where in a work site, the employee
accomplishes a role of task for their work and in return they receive a salary. Also for instance in a
competition the runner up should show case his/her talent and in return they received an award by the
person who s hosting the competition. All these scenarios are how exchange happens in our lives. All
exchanges must be equal or fair between each

On The Grey Tree Mondrian
Mondrian was born in 1872, and died in 1944. Throughout his career, he made sure to create many
geometric artworks. He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of
interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a painter
and used oil on canvas to create his artworks. In 1892, he had a degree in education and could Teach
drawing in secondary schools (Early life and works).
This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and had
the same technology that is common in 2016, I don t think he would have changed how he made his
artwork. He may have had a different way to get to the end product, but in the end it would probably

If Mondrian was alive today, this painting may be a little different. This is because it looks nothing
like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more of an ocean
feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas.
This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting, he
probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created geometrically.
He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even though it doesn t look
like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found a way to make it look more
like an apple tree rather than what it looks like.
This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory Boogie
Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible to
everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it looked
like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it could look
like something totally different. However, it depends on how he got the inspiration, or if there was
some reason he thought of this exact

Essay On Phospholipids
Phospholipids
Phospholipids are created by two fatty acids with a phosphate group, they are classed as fats and they
are made up of lipids. The fatty acids in the phospholipid are hydrophobic and the phosphate head is
hydrophilic and it is outwards and the tail is inwards, this causes to create the cell membrane.
Triglycerides
Triglycerides contain three fatty acids and glycerol molecule, whereas phospholipids have two fatty
acids and a phosphate group. Triglycerides stop the loss of heat by insulation and they have ester
bonds.
The difference in uses of triglycerides and phospholipids
Phospholipids
The cell membrane is formed by phospholipids, the cell membrane controls what substances and gases
go in and out of the cell. When inside the water the phospholipids organize themselves into position,
the hydrophilic head is on the outside of the membrane because they can handle water, however, on
the inside of the membrane the hydrophobic tail does not like water. ... Show more content on

Conflict Between Joseph And His Brothers
One of the inherent conflicts in the story of Joseph is the tension between Joseph and his brothers. The
tension between them is caused by both Jacob and Joseph. First, Jacob shows favoritism toward
Joseph, because he is the son of his favorite wife Rachel. Second, Joseph brings back bad reports
when he is out pasturing with his brothers. However, what truly increased the hatred and jealousy was
the Joseph s dreams. The author notes that when Joseph recounts the dreams, they hated him even
more (Gen. 37:8). Their jealousy for Joseph is strong enough that they are willing to murder him.
However, they decide to instead sell him into slavery, and convince Jacob that he was killed.
A greater conflict is later revealed later in the story. Joseph is brought before Pharaoh to interpret his
dream, and he reveals that after seven years of plenty, a severe famine will engulf the land so that the
seven years of plenty will be forgotten. In order to prepare for the famine, Pharaoh must appoint
someone to oversee the storing and rationing of the food in Egypt. Since Joseph interpreted the dream
that the magicians and wisemen of Egypt could not, Pharaoh made Joseph second in command over
all of Egypt. Through Joseph Egypt is well prepared for the famine.
These two main conflicts are interdependent in the Story of Joseph. Without the tension between
Joseph and his brothers, Joseph would have never been able to interpret Pharaoh s dream, and Egypt
(and Joseph s family) would have not

Nocturnal Sleep
In this article, the researchers attempted to discover that learning a new word requires an incubation
period for the word to be processed and remembered, and this period is commonly connected to sleep
(Dumay Gaskell, 2007, p. 35). The authors hypothesized that nocturnal sleep (along with its
physiological and neural correlates) enables listeners to lexicalize spoken words, and the researched
assumed that sleep allows this information to be stored into long term memory (Dumay Gaskell, 2007,
p. 36). Furthermore, they assumed that an increase in lexical activity induced by exposure to a novel
competitor (e.g., cathedruke ) would produce longer PD latencies to a neighboring existing word (e.g.,
cathedr_al ) (Dumay Gaskell, 2007, p. 35). In the following experiment, the independent variable was

first decade of the twenty first century without encountering a freak. Britney Spears, called her 2009,

that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to
Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus
had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as
new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks
had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a
renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the
Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for
the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T.

Essay about A Blessing James Wright
In the poem A Blessing, James Wright analyzes the relationship between human beings and nature
through the descriptive explanation of an encounter between his friend and himself and two Indian
horses. He shows that although we are able to relate and interact with the animals we don t have the
ability to join them or as Wright puts it: break into blossom (26 27). Wright uses imagery and
personification to describe the nature he witnesses as he escapes from the stress of human life. The
ponies in this poem are personified by comparing them to human beings, mainly through the
description of their emotions. This personification lessens the gap between the author and the horses
and separates him from civilization represented by the highways ... Show more content on

This point is proved further as A light breezes moves [the author] to caress [the ponies] long ear (23),
showing that nature itself is encouraging the merging of the two sides, because the wind encourages
the hand to pet the horses ear. Another simile is used to describe the horse s ear as delicate as the skin
over a girl s wrist (24), again blurring the line between human and nature. Finally Wright comes to the
realization that if he were blessed enough he would be able to step out of his body and break into
blossom, thus becoming a part of nature. But, he realizes that is past the realm of reality and therefore
cannot be done.
Wright examines the relationship of human being and nature using his descriptive language including
such devices as imagery and similes. Wright sees the idea of nature and humans joining as one as a
possible feat and he shows this though his written experience with these Indian ponies. He initially
shows the contrast of the two worlds, but they grow on each other and end up becoming one. Wright
sees the loneliness of the ponies, gains their affection, as the ponies are very welcoming. He ultimately
ends up wanting to join them by being able to break into blossom (26 27), but he is unable to do so
because he reached the maximum threshold of the union between humans and nature. Which brings us
back to the Wright is able to disregard the average day for humans and take a day to appreciate the
true value of nature in its

“Hello Ladies (And Gentlemen)”, Ever Wonder What Other
Hello ladies (and gentlemen) , ever wonder what other meanings commercial ads bring to the table?
Generally often used to attract buyers and consumers, some popular ads were created to have an
appeal to the topic of a certain gender in order to endorse that product advertised. Commercial ads can
give a very positive appeal, or even a negative one, being a widespread topic that could be considered
as controversial to many today. Gender in advertisements can create an influence upon those who are

The masculine appeal seen by both Crews and Mustafa, almost make men consider If I use this

Analyzing James Miller s Acting Our Culture
A picture says a thousand words. In Acting Our Culture , a book edited by James miller, we get this
representation clearly from Norman Rockwell and John Holyfield in their Thanksgiving visual
representation paintings. Both artist provide us with their own interpretation and view of the
thanksgiving holiday depicting in both what they believe the holiday season is about. 3 main themes in
these pieces are family, color, and culture the root of both paintings, this being what ties as well as
separates them as works of art.
The first thing you will notice between the paintings are the family s presented. The presence of their
relation is evident due to a few factors. In Rockwell we get the differences in age from the little kids
present at the table to the middle aged couple on the left side of the photo (Rockwell), then in
Holyfield s we get the same view of age difference across the table representing the occasion to be a
gathering of family. They also share the same main meal that being the turkey also with vegetables

On the surface, the two World Wars seem more different than they are similar; but, upon deeper
inspection, the lines that delineate them start to blur. Obviously, the events that triggered both wars are
entirely different. World War One (WWI) started when Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian nationalist,
assassinated Archduke Francis Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro Hungarian throne. The assassination
was not the singular cause of WWI, as tensions between Serbia and Austria Hungary(AH) existed
before Ferdinand s assassination. At the time of the assassination, Serbia was not a country but was a
part of AH. At the end of WWI, the Treaty Of Versailles was signed by the Allies and the new German

the guiding forces that lead to the World Wars. Knowledge of these causes will not only allow for

to World War Three. Imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and incompetent leaders laid the
foundations for WWI, but the treaty that was supposed to end the war never solved those problems.

Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry...
The Use of Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry Eating
Written in 1980, Galway Kinnell s Blackberry Eating is a poem which creates a strong metaphoric
relationship between the tangible objects of blackberries, and the intangible objects of words. The
speaker of the poem feels a strong attraction to the sensory characteristics (the touch, taste, and look)
of blackberries. The attraction he feels at the beginning of the poem exclusively for blackberries is
paralleled in the end by his appetite and attraction to words. The rush the speaker gets out of
blackberry eating is paralleled to the enjoyment he finds in thinking about certain words; words which
call up the same sensory images the blackberries embody. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third line states the speaker s purpose. He is going out to eat the blackberries for breakfast. This
line shows that the speaker not only has an attraction to the berries aesthetic qualities but also craves
them to satiate his appetite. The speaker s appetite for the berries is later paralleled to his appetite for
words. In the next line, the speaker describes the stalks of the blackberry bushes as very prickly. This
is the first negative image used in association with the blackberries. All the previous images have been
positive characteristics of blackberries fat, overripe, icy, and black. Perhaps, this negative image of the
prickly stalks is being used to show that along with pleasure invariably comes pain in the natural
world. This same idea used in the context of the words suggests the two fold potential of words to
both benefit and harm. In the next line, the prickly stalks are attributed as a penalty that they
[blackberry bushes] earn for knowing the black art. This imagery of the flowering of the bushes being
a black art lends a magical, bewitching quality to the blackberries, an idea that there is something
wickedly tempting about the berries. In connecting this idea to the word metaphor, it shows that the
ability to tempt and persuade with words can also be a form of black art. In the next line, the speaker
talks about standing among the blackberries and lifting the stalks to his mouth where the

The On Blood Brain Barrier
Blood Brain Barrier
One of the most important properties of BBB is that it separates the brain tissue from the blood
circulation of the CNS. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected
through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only
select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital
nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells and
contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier for ions,
proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting necessary ingredients
such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do some activity movements.
Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of the BBB in which it allows
important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord preventing a blockage of certain
materials into the CNS. In addition to endothelial cells, it depends on continuous complexes of tight
junctions that seals and prevent all but a few substances from squeezing between barrier cells. A recent
study stated that in order for substances to pass through the brain, specific carrier mediated transport
systems assist transport of nutrients such as glucose, galactose, small peptides, and amines binds to
specific membrane protein

Varities of Violence Essay
The books Child of the Dark by Carolina Maria de Jesus and Testimony by Victor Montejo describes
the lives of two individuals from different societies. In both of these societies there was much hardship
and violence. The two main characters who wrote these books describe life through their point of view
and explains the hardship and challenges they had living in a society filled with violence. Victor
Montejo lived in a society that was a very poor area. The village was located in Guatemala. Though he
lived outside of this village it is where he spent most of his time since he was the schoolmaster. The
people in village were very poor and believed in community as a way of life. The villagers were out to

Those people ranged from low end soldiers who made their money by raiding villages. To higher end

many people as possible. Outside of the governments military their were bands of guerillas who
fought to bring a new government and change to the Guatemalan society. They would attempt to do
this by fighting against all people who they saw is believing the government was right. The other type
of people in the society around them was the government workers and officals themselves who
promised all these small villages such great things but just keep the money themselves instead. If you
were defy the government you would be killed, imprisoned or tortured.
Carolina Maria de Jesus in many ways lived off in a worse society then Victor Montejo even though
their were some similarities. Carolina lived in a area in Sao Paulo with her three children. In this story
it was referred to as a Favela, which is technically a slum. Really it is more then a slum it really means
you are secluded from the rest of society in a area where it is almost impossible to get you and your
family out of. In this type of area to make money many people including Carolina herself would have

The rituals of the Nacirema culture are very unique when it comes to the different forms of beliefs and
remedies. According to the article, The fundamental belief underlying the whole system of the
Nacirema appears to be that the human body is ugly and that its natural tendency is to debility and
disease (4). With that in mind, the Nacirema have come up with a bundle of ways to keep the body
healthy and pure. Of those ways, most are included with the belief that magic is the key component in
the use of ritual and ceremony. Houses in the Nacirema culture have shrines dedicated to the purpose
of these ritual ceremonies. Homes with one or more shrines often mean the family is considered
wealthier. The focal point of a shrine is a box or chest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another similarity is the region where the Nacirema live, the territory between the Canadian Cree, the
Yaqui and Tarahumare of Mexico (2). I believe that Miner was describing the location of America. If
you focus on the rituals of the Nacirema when thinking of America, many of the practitioners are real
careers people choose to have. The way Miner describes the jobs makes you think about how awful it
might sound to people from other nations who don t have these types of occupations where they are
from. Not only did Miner talk about the jobs, but he also mentioned a place called, the latipso , which
is hospital backwards without the h . He describes this place as a temple to the Nacirema, where the
sick go to die. This description sounds a whole lot like how someone would depict a hospital. I believe
Miner uses these tricky descriptions as a way to show us the reality of what is really going on in our
society. He lists several, practitioners , which are real possible careers for one to pursue in America.
The holy mouth men are dentists. Dentists have a set of tools they use to work on your teeth and their

The Nature Of The African Landscape
The Landscape: In this section, I seek to investigate how the nature of the African landscape has been
depicted in Heart of Darkness. Questions such as 1.) How the Orientalist others the foreign landscape
2.) What is the psychological influence of the African landscape on the European colonisers? 3.) Does
the psychological influenceon the Whites similar to that of the Blacks? 4.) And, what are the
consequences of that psychological influence on the White invaders and the natives? These arguments
are presented in ascending order of importance. I will study the colonial and the Oriental conception
of the foreign landscape as Marlow s journey involves both trajectories. I also aim at exploring Conrad
s mechanism that he uses to hit on the serious issue of the psychological state of the European
characters and who he reflects it in his narrative.
The abundant reports, literary narratives, and the variety of representations of the early travellers that
belong to different social, cultural, and political backgrounds presented Africa with a very shining
image. They loomed Africa as exotic, strange, and the promised of golden opportunities. However, in
the nineteenth century Western colonial discourse, Africabegan to function as a synonym to absence
and infinite. (Miller, 1996: 92). This is because the colonial missionaries and administration of Africa
turns it into a realm of darkness, corruption, and a source of terror that lacks shape and pattern.

Explain How To Build-Up A Bad Smell Of A Water Heater
If your water has started to smell like rotten eggs, you need to sanitize your water heater. Bacteria
build up in your water heater can cause your water to smell bad; the only way to effectively get rid of
the smell is to throughly clean your water heater. Here are the steps you ll need to follow in order to
get rid of that bad smell:
Turn Off Your Water Heater
The first thing you need to do is turn off your water heater. If you have an electric water heater, just
turn off the manual switch. If you have a gas water heater, you ll need to set the control lever to pilot.
The pilot light should still be lit.
You will also need to close the inlet valve on your water heater for the cold water at this time.
Turn On The Hot Water
Next, you ll need to turn on a nearby hot water faucet. It can be a sink or tub faucet. When you turn on
the hot water faucet, you ll want to have someone also turn on the temperature and pressure valve
located at the top of your water heater at the same time. Doing this will help relieve the pressure inside
of the tank and allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Add Hydrogen Peroxide
Now you will need to add hydrogen peroxide to your hot water tank. You can use the standard 3%
hydrogen peroxide that you can find at your local drugstore. For a small hot water heater, you ll want
to add about two bottles of hydrogen peroxide; for a large water heater, you ll want to add around four
bottles of hydrogen peroxide to your tank.
You can add the hydrogen peroxide by pouring it into the outlet pipe or into the opening near the
temperature and water pressure valve. Once the hydrogen peroxide has been added, close the
temperature and pressure valve. Open the cold water inlet and allow the water heater to fill with water
again. You ll want to close the water inlet value when the tank is almost full.

Montesquieu s Spirit Of Laws And Jean Jacques Rousseau s...
What entity dictates life on the most fundamental level? Is it the government or the people who permit
the government to exist? This is the main point of contention between Baron de Montesquieu s Spirit
of Laws and Jean Jacques Rousseau s On the Social Contract. Interestingly, their interpretation of
different forms of government converge on the sovereignty of a democracy, but that is where most of
their common ground lies. While Rousseau shares similarities on the sovereign authority of a
democracy with Montesquieu, he departs by arguing how regardless of government, sovereignty
always rests in the hands of the people. He also disagrees on how the populace should participate in
the democracy and on their representation in government, making his principles more relevant today.
Baron de Montesquieu sees the people as sovereign exclusively in a democracy and act through
elected bodies or ministers. Since the people have the sole power to enact laws, the rules of suffrage
are vital to a successful democracy. Following closely is the need for a fixed amount of active citizens
in an assembly. As such, the essence of his democracy revolves around the need for love of the laws
and of the country. (Montesquieu Bk. 4 Pt. 5) Likewise, frugality is important because it allows all of
society to share a similar level of enjoyment and advantages that a democracy brings. When the
populace look to frugality, enhanced public services are made available. Consequently, there is a law

Media And Havens
Much change in the global media by means of mergers and increased concentration has resulted in the
limited diversity of content. In addition, the media consolidation does not only effect the content but
the ownership and employment opportunities. Winseck (2011) and Havens (2014), both discuss the
media mostly in the United States and other parts of the world; comparisons can be drawn to relate to
Canadian media. Different theories have been developed around the capitalistic nature of the media
corporation on the creativity and diversity of media (Havens, 2014). The following will examine the
current standings of the large media corporations in the United States and other countries. In addition,
the focus will be put upon the effects of consolidation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The corporations have the capacity to censor or alter important issues that go against their political or
ideological positions in the news and in other media outlets. Media can affect and shape public views
on numerous issues by leading them in a way that fits in with the views of the organization. Since the
media companies have consolidated individuals are less exposed to outside views or particular
viewpoints to issues. The current issue can fit within the realm of propaganda, people watch and read
what is available and intensely promoted (Chomsky Herman, 2002). If powerful corporations merge
with others they are able to send out their own message and as frequently as they would like. In the
news, broadcasters can exaggerate what their own points of views are on certain subjects to make
individuals alter their own beliefs, as a result (Chomsky Herman, 2002). However, we can also argue
that with current technologies individuals can go beyond the news to get their information by using
the web for example. With the current technologies, individuals can also verify is statements made by
the media contain some truth. What would be interesting to look at would be the racial and gender
composition of media corporations and its effect on the diversity of media. Furthermore, the analysis
of media consolidation proves to be beneficial in the eyes of capitalism.

The Issue At Stake Is Not Population Numbers Depiction
The issue at stake is not population numbers depiction, but concerns for the quality of education for
Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is
a clarion call for excessive investment in education, and in other public services. Comparable to other
poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) argued, the poor people live entwined in
inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and
poor arrangement reinforces one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the treasured
resources of any future nation, and therefore, financing beyond their education quality would be the
ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to
ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive
attention to the marginalized children the most likely to be victims of quality education access
limitation.

Cheddar Cheetos
All Natural White Cheddar Cheetos, which are labeled as a non GMO food, was tested for the
presence of genetically modified organisms. DNA was extracted, amplified by PCR and was subjected
to electrophoresis to prove the absence of a genetically modified organism in the non GMO Cheetos.
Using DNA molecules from samples of interest is the favored method in GMO detection because
DNA is easily recognizable and very stable (Gaudio, 2009). The gel electrophoresis picture shows the
different sizes of the DNA fragments from the Cheetos. As pictured in figure one, there was a band for
the sample containing the plant primers in lane eight for the photosystem II gene which served as a
target area to ensure that the DNA extraction occurred (Smith, 2015). In lane nine was the test food
with GMO primers, which did not show a band. This means that the Cheetos lacked a GMO gene and
there was no presence of the CaMV promoter and the Nos promoter in the sample food. This
concludes that the Cheetos do not contain a GMO, like the packaging indicates. Lanes ten and eleven
shows fragments because they were positive controls and were expected to show up with a molecular
weight of 500 bp and 200 bp, respectively. The target DNA to detect the GMO was at the CaMV and
Nos promoter, which are both present in the GMO positive controls. The negative controls can also be

A possibility of not getting a fragment under the test food with plant primers slot could be due to the
fact of not extracting enough DNA from the sample food. Another reason for any missing fragments
could be that the DNA ran off the gel, or that cross contamination occurred with improper labeling of
PCR tubes. These errors could be avoided by easily using the right sanitation methods, following the
protocol and ensuring the slurry mix contained a good ratio of sample food to

Every August, a group of second graders enter my classroom. I teach them how to read and write, tie
their shoes, and by June, make sure they are prepared for third grade. In the middle of last school year,
I received a new student. She was a beautiful, bubbly little girl. I soon learned she was terminally ill
and one of her last wishes was to return to school. I was incredibly humbled her parents were
entrusting their daughter into my care and sharing her with me during what would be her last days. In
those months to follow, I learned how fragile life could be. For Avery*, there was no next year; and
the biggest days of her life were playing out right in front of me. I slowed things down and didn t push
quite so hard. I gave an extra 15 minutes for recess, just because the weather was nice and the sky was
pretty. I would sit on the rug and read three stories in a row until my voice gave out, because the
children were loving the performance. I knew it was my job to be joyful. Children aren t supposed to
die. We all know and believe this truism. But the reality is, sometimes children do die. Avery s*
passing profoundly impacted not only my entire class, but me as an educator. Her passing taught me
that every moment matters. Whether a child has one year left in life, or many, the memories they make
now will impact their future.

The Effect Of Tidal Power On The Environment
In the world today, we consume ungodly amounts of fossil fuels. Many choose to ignore that we will
indeed run out of these fuels, as for now they are here and they are cheap. So what happens when they
run out? We will need to rely on alternative forms of energy. There are several types of alternative
energy sources such as wind, geothermal, solar, and tidal. Of these in the current day, the easiest one
to predict is tidal power. Tidal power, in Tom Marsik s words, is in its infant stage of development.
Tom Marsik is a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus who runs the
Sustainable Energy Program and has a doctorate in physics. From his description, it is not cost
effective for many places in its current state. The technology is there, but it has not been refined and
mastered. All this considered, tidal power should be a technology that continues to be developed
because it is predictable, renewable, and highly efficient.
Essentially, tidal power works like wind power in the way that it is designed. It is a submerged fan by
the looks, and its rotor is connected to a generator that creates electricity. When the tides are moving
both in and out fast enough to rotate the blades on a tidal powered generator, electricity is generated.
Pretty simple right? The concise answer is yes, but the concerns are there as well. To begin with,
electricity and water do not go together very well. To make a machine that generates electricity

Julie Taymor was born on December 15, 1954 in Newton, Massachusetts to a doctor and a politician.
The youngest of three children, both more than six years older than her, she had a tremendous amount

by the Vietnam war influenced the behavior of those around her and how these changes developed as

influence on what would become her creative basis not only for fabricating the costume design for

understand until you ve experienced it yourself (Benanti). The problem is, with this music also comes
the drugs. A study was done on the drug use and nightlife by a group of people. They explore and
study all different types of music and their ties to drugs. They surveyed 775 visitors of dance events,
clubs, and rock festivals in Belgium (Tina Van Havere). Their results found that the respondents who
used illegal drugs were 25 times more likely to report that they prefer dance music to any other genre
(Tina Van Havere). Drugs and music have been related to each other since they both first emerged, the
only problem now is that the scene is at a much larger scale and that it s kids who are doing it. There
have been many cases of deaths and overdoses in the past 5 years at these Electronic Music shows
which is creating a lot of discussion in the media and the public about the safety risks of the people
attending these shows. The people within this culture who are working behind the scenes are
concerned of the future of EDM. A lighting and sound technician Keenan Kan explains, For the people
involved in the industry, we re concerned. We have seen it happen before. Similar situations happened
when the music was popular in the 90s, and of course Gainesville and other communities acted on it

Fashion Promotion in 5 Years Essay
What is the role of fashion promotion within the fashion industry, and how will it develop over the
next 5 years?
Fashion promotion is the glue that holds together everything fashion related. It s all very well
having a great designer who can create stunning garments out of fabulous materials, but fashion
promotion is what advertises those garments, and sells them, and puts them out there for the world
to see. If there weren t photographers and buyers and journalists and stylists (who are all a part
fashion promotion) we wouldn t have ever seen a catwalk show, or brought a Fendi bag, or picked
up a copy of VOGUE. If it wasn t for fashion promotion we could all be walking down the street in

Along with the various
different lighting effects Huene also invented his own lightening devices in order to create
geometric shapes and patterns with shadows. His aim was to create the best possible lighting to
represent the fashion garments on his models. Huene s photographs were dominated by illustration
and were greatly influenced by sculpture. As we can see in figure 3 there is no movement; models
were poised, almost static. In a general sense, Huene s style was the quint essence of early Thirties
functional elegance (Ewing 1986:99)

7 Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey
In the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey he explains how the world is
entirely based on our own perception. In order to change a situation, we must change ourselves, and in
order to change ourselves we have to change our perception. These days, individuals look for quick
solutions. They see successful people, companies, and organizations that have achieved success and
wonder how they can get a hold of their techniques. The problem is these shortcuts that we all look
for, hoping to save time and energy and still received the desired result, isn t... The way we see the
problem is the problem (pg. ) As individual we have to allow ourselves to experience a change in how
we think. Covey explains how we must altar our attitude and behavior in order to achieve true change
through the seven habits. Habit 1: Principles of Personal Vision Throughout this habit we are
reminded what it means to be responsible for ourselves. We learn to take initiative, choosing our
attitude, and always doing the right thing even when no one is looking. We know as individual that we
can easily give up on a situation or relationship if it is too hard or not going the way you want, but
Covey reminds us that we choose the script for our lives. Do not give up but use self awareness to be
proactive and take reasonability for our choices. What distinguishes us as humans is our ability to
examine our own character, to decide how to view ourselves and our situations, and control

  • 2. Immediacy In Therapeutic Relationships Therefore, it could be a more accurate portrayal of their interactions with other compared to how the client perceive themselves to interact with others and what they say to the therapist. Immediacy can be used to address and solve problems that come up in the context of the therapeutic relationship. For example, if a client comes into therapy and acts very hostile towards the therapist, the therapist can use immediacy and address how the client s behavior is affecting them. This could highlight others behaviors in the client s life and foster the growth of the therapeutic relationship. If problems in the therapeutic relationships are not addressed, the relationship can be negatively affected. Kasper et al. found positive and beneficial consequences ... • 3. The German Occupiers Is The Collection Of Short Stories The narrative with the most strongly negative images of the German occupiers is the collection of short stories Νιότη χωρίς τραγούδια by Sophia Fildisi published in 1978. There are no historical facts incorporated in the narrative and the book requires little extra textual knowledge on behalf of the young reader. Little to non existent is also the explanation of the historical and political causes of the war, the responsibility for which is attributed to the insanity of the policymakers, to the θεόμουρλοι που κουμαντέρνουνε τους λαούς to those που τα κεφάλια τους είχαν άχυρο . Fildisi goes beyond the stereotyped image of the military and ruthless German that dominates a great deal of children s fiction on the subject. In her book, the ... If the identity of being a Nazi is subtracted from the identity of the German occupiers, the young reader is likely to perceive Germanness as an intrinsic predisposition towards evilness . What is more, when the responsibility for these atrocities is put on monsters and other metaphysical creatures and the author fails to point out that it was ordinary people who carried out actions of extreme violence, much like the people that the reader interacts with in their everyday life, the young reader s understanding of the matter is put in a seriously wrong perspective. In stark contrast to the depiction of the German occupiers as a personification of Evil is the portrayal of the Austrian soldier as the incarnation of Good. The third story of the book is about a young boy, Minas, who sells his cross necklace to a benevolent Austrian soldier and uses the money to celebrate Easter with his ill mother. When the Austrian soldier hears about Minas s misfortunes he bursts into tears. Later, Minas is told by a neighbour that the Austrian soldier does not support the cause of Hitler (δεν ήταν με του Χίτλερ τα καμώματα). When Minas meets with the soldier, the Austrian puts down his rifle and holds the boy to his chest with great affection, much to Minas s surprise. Later that day, the Austrian soldier gets shot down while on his way to visit Minas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is because it looks nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more of an ocean feel to the painting. The painting was painted with oil paints on a canvas. This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting, he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like. This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it looked like today. • 10. Conflict Between Joseph And His Brothers One of the inherent conflicts in the story of Joseph is the tension between Joseph and his brothers. The tension between them is caused by both Jacob and Joseph. First, Jacob shows favoritism toward Joseph, because he is the son of his favorite wife Rachel. Second, Joseph brings back bad reports when he is out pasturing with his brothers. However, what truly increased the hatred and jealousy was the Joseph s dreams. The author notes that when Joseph recounts the dreams, they hated him even more (Gen. 37:8). Their jealousy for Joseph is strong enough that they are willing to murder him. However, they decide to instead sell him into slavery, and convince Jacob that he was killed. A greater conflict is later revealed later in the story. Joseph is brought before Pharaoh to interpret his dream, and he reveals that after seven years of plenty, a severe famine will engulf the land so that the seven years of plenty will be forgotten. In order to prepare for the famine, Pharaoh must appoint someone to oversee the storing and rationing of the food in Egypt. Since Joseph interpreted the dream that the magicians and wisemen of Egypt could not, Pharaoh made Joseph second in command over all of Egypt. Through Joseph Egypt is well prepared for the famine. These two main conflicts are interdependent in the Story of Joseph. • 11. Nocturnal Sleep In this article, the researchers attempted to discover that learning a new word requires an incubation period for the word to be processed and remembered, and this period is commonly connected to sleep (Dumay Gaskell, 2007, p. 35). The authors hypothesized that nocturnal sleep (along with its physiological and neural correlates) enables listeners to lexicalize spoken words, and the researched assumed that sleep allows this information to be stored into long term memory (Dumay Gaskell, 2007, p. 36). Furthermore, they assumed that an increase in lexical activity induced by exposure to a novel competitor (e.g., cathedruke ) would produce longer PD latencies to a neighboring existing word (e.g., cathedr_al ) (Dumay Gaskell, 2007, p. 35). Britney Spears, called her 2009, forty nine show tour through the US, Canada and the UK. Perhaps, more accurately, it is not so much that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T. • 14. Essay about A Blessing James Wright In the poem A Blessing, James Wright analyzes the relationship between human beings and nature through the descriptive explanation of an encounter between his friend and himself and two Indian horses. He shows that although we are able to relate and interact with the animals we don t have the ability to join them or as Wright puts it: break into blossom (26 27). Wright uses imagery and personification to describe the nature he witnesses as he escapes from the stress of human life. The ponies in this poem are personified by comparing them to human beings, mainly through the description of their emotions. This personification lessens the gap between the author and the horses and separates him from civilization represented by the highways ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This point is proved further as A light breezes moves [the author] to caress [the ponies] long ear (23), showing that nature itself is encouraging the merging of the two sides, because the wind encourages the hand to pet the horses ear. Another simile is used to describe the horse s ear as delicate as the skin over a girl s wrist (24), again blurring the line between human and nature. Finally Wright comes to the realization that if he were blessed enough he would be able to step out of his body and break into blossom, thus becoming a part of nature. But, he realizes that is past the realm of reality and therefore cannot be done. Wright examines the relationship of human being and nature using his descriptive language including such devices as imagery and similes. Wright sees the idea of nature and humans joining as one as a possible feat and he shows this though his written experience with these Indian ponies. He initially shows the contrast of the two worlds, but they grow on each other and end up becoming one. Wright sees the loneliness of the ponies, gains their affection, as the ponies are very welcoming. He ultimately ends up wanting to join them by being able to break into blossom (26 27), but he is unable to do so because he reached the maximum threshold of the union between humans and nature. Which brings us back to the Wright is able to disregard the average day for humans and take a day to appreciate the true value of nature in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry... The Use of Metaphor and Imagery in Galway Kinnell s Poem, Blackberry Eating Written in 1980, Galway Kinnell s Blackberry Eating is a poem which creates a strong metaphoric relationship between the tangible objects of blackberries, and the intangible objects of words. The speaker of the poem feels a strong attraction to the sensory characteristics (the touch, taste, and look) of blackberries. The attraction he feels at the beginning of the poem exclusively for blackberries is paralleled in the end by his appetite and attraction to words. The rush the speaker gets out of blackberry eating is paralleled to the enjoyment he finds in thinking about certain words; words which call up the same sensory images the blackberries embody. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third line states the speaker s purpose. He is going out to eat the blackberries for breakfast. This line shows that the speaker not only has an attraction to the berries aesthetic qualities but also craves them to satiate his appetite. The speaker s appetite for the berries is later paralleled to his appetite for words. In the next line, the speaker describes the stalks of the blackberry bushes as very prickly. This is the first negative image used in association with the blackberries. All the previous images have been positive characteristics of blackberries fat, overripe, icy, and black. Perhaps, this negative image of the prickly stalks is being used to show that along with pleasure invariably comes pain in the natural world. This same idea used in the context of the words suggests the two fold potential of words to both benefit and harm. In the next line, the prickly stalks are attributed as a penalty that they [blackberry bushes] earn for knowing the black art. This imagery of the flowering of the bushes being a black art lends a magical, bewitching quality to the blackberries, an idea that there is something wickedly tempting about the berries. In connecting this idea to the word metaphor, it shows that the ability to tempt and persuade with words can also be a form of black art. • 20. The On Blood Brain Barrier Blood Brain Barrier One of the most important properties of BBB is that it separates the brain tissue from the blood circulation of the CNS. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells and contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier for ions, proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting necessary ingredients such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do some activity movements. Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of the BBB in which it allows important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord preventing a blockage of certain materials into the CNS. In addition to endothelial cells, it depends on continuous complexes of tight junctions that seals and prevent all but a few substances from squeezing between barrier cells. A recent study stated that in order for substances to pass through the brain, specific carrier mediated transport systems assist transport of nutrients such as glucose, galactose, small peptides, and amines binds to specific membrane protein ... However, in the nineteenth century Western colonial discourse, Africabegan to function as a synonym to absence and infinite. (Miller, 1996: 92). • 26. Montesquieu s Spirit Of Laws And Jean Jacques Rousseau s... What entity dictates life on the most fundamental level? Is it the government or the people who permit the government to exist? This is the main point of contention between Baron de Montesquieu s Spirit of Laws and Jean Jacques Rousseau s On the Social Contract. Interestingly, their interpretation of different forms of government converge on the sovereignty of a democracy, but that is where most of their common ground lies. While Rousseau shares similarities on the sovereign authority of a democracy with Montesquieu, he departs by arguing how regardless of government, sovereignty always rests in the hands of the people. He also disagrees on how the populace should participate in the democracy and on their representation in government, making his principles more relevant today. Baron de Montesquieu sees the people as sovereign exclusively in a democracy and act through elected bodies or ministers. Since the people have the sole power to enact laws, the rules of suffrage are vital to a successful democracy. Following closely is the need for a fixed amount of active citizens in an assembly. As such, the essence of his democracy revolves around the need for love of the laws and of the country. (Montesquieu Bk. 4 Pt. 5) Likewise, frugality is important because it allows all of society to share a similar level of enjoyment and advantages that a democracy brings. DNA was extracted, amplified by PCR and was subjected to electrophoresis to prove the absence of a genetically modified organism in the non GMO Cheetos. Using DNA molecules from samples of interest is the favored method in GMO detection because DNA is easily recognizable and very stable (Gaudio, 2009). The gel electrophoresis picture shows the different sizes of the DNA fragments from the Cheetos. Many choose to ignore that we will indeed run out of these fuels, as for now they are here and they are cheap. So what happens when they run out? We will need to rely on alternative forms of energy. There are several types of alternative energy sources such as wind, geothermal, solar, and tidal. Of these in the current day, the easiest one to predict is tidal power. Tidal power, in Tom Marsik s words, is in its infant stage of development. Tom Marsik is a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus who runs the Sustainable Energy Program and has a doctorate in physics. From his description, it is not cost effective for many places in its current state. The technology is there, but it has not been refined and mastered. All this considered, tidal power should be a technology that continues to be developed because it is predictable, renewable, and highly efficient. Essentially, tidal power works like wind power in the way that it is designed. It is a submerged fan by the looks, and its rotor is connected to a generator that creates electricity. When the tides are moving both in and out fast enough to rotate the blades on a tidal powered generator, electricity is generated. Pretty simple right? So, off I went, on a ferry over to Naniamo. I could not believe the size of the ocean or Vancouver Island. After what seemed to me a very long bus ride, we arrived in Courtenay. The bus depot was on the main street, and I made my way to meet up with Dik and his friends at the Courtenay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dik, who was small guy, had the perfect home. Like a hobbit house, it had a wood stove and was warm and cozy. A lot of time was spent carrying water and splitting wood. We all played baseball and drank homemade beer and wine. Everything tasted delicious. The gardens produced wonderful vegetables and even small, sweet casaba melons. We all appreciated the fruits of our labours. It was late summer, and there were huge blackberries, salmonberries, and huckleberries. Dik fished for trout and salmon in river. During my visit, Dik s friend Vicky asked me if I d like to take care of two little girls, Tara and West, while she worked. I could live with them in their tipi. Well, why not? So, I went back to Vancouver, packed up, and returned to start my new life. I knew then that I d be on Vancouver Island forever. Vicky s tipi was quite spacious. There was a wooden floor on which sat two beds, two dressers, a toy box, and a shelf for books. Sleeping there evoked ancient memories. We mostly cooked on fires outside. We all joined together around a big fire at night and made music or told jokes. Tara, who was five, and West, who was three, were adorable, blonde, blue eyed girls. They were easy to take care of. Vicky would get up early in the morning and fetch water and wood to cook breakfast. Then, she would get ready for work at her office job in Courtenay. She would put on a tidy skirt and jacket, nylons, and high heels and head to work in her old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Julie Taymor Influences Julie Taymor was born on December 15, 1954 in Newton, Massachusetts to a doctor and a politician. The youngest of three children, both more than six years older than her, she had a tremendous amount of freedom (Molina). She lived through the turbulent 1960 s noticing how new circumstances caused by the Vietnam war influenced the behavior of those around her and how these changes developed as time passed. This close observation of what people went through and how it shaped them had a large influence on what would become her creative basis not only for fabricating the costume design for productions, but also for directing many theatrical, film, and opera works. After producing her first theatrical work at age seven in her backyard, Taymor began to go to the Boston Children s Theatre where she studied acting.
