Dred Scott Vs Kraemer
There were many cases during the civil rights movement that helped shape the world into what it is
today. By the middle of the twentieth century, black people had long experienced a physical and social
landscape of white supremacy, embedded in policy, social codes, and both intimate and spectacular
forms of racial restriction and violence. It was time for a change. The Supreme Court made many
decisions to change and affect this movement. Some of these these cases are Dred Scott vs. John F.A.
Stanford, Plessy vs. Ferguson, and Shelley vs. Kraemer.
Dred Scott vs. Sanford was a case in which a slave named Dred Scott and his wife, Harriet, sued for
their freedom in a St. Louis city court. They could be made free because they had been held in a free
state before going back to a slave state. But since slaves were not considered citizens, the judgement
was made that they could not expect any protection from the federal court. They also stated congress
didn t have the power to ban slavery in a federal territory. This case lead us one step closer to the civil
war, since it angered many people.

Essay on criminal law esssay
English law has been subject to being described as unprincipled and inconsistent in its approach to the
question of whether the failure to act is a sufficient basis for criminal liability. This is due to a range of
factors an example of which being the collection of convictions passed to defendants who have been
charged with a crime, which did not involve a positive or direct action. In addition for those who have
not been convicted, it is questionable whether the law is unprincipled as it is unclear about the moral
obligation that individuals have to act and when a moral obligation is a legal obligation. There is also
uncertainty regarding what is a sufficient basis for criminal liability as each case is different and it is
difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lord Diplock stated, I see no rational ground for excluding from conduct capable of giving rise to
criminal liability conduct which consists of failing to take measures that lie within one s powers to
counteract a danger that one has created 3. This statement emphasises that the focus is the danger
created however the crime is damaging property thus the argument being used to prove his guilt does
not quite match the crime as no one beside himself would have been harmed. In fact, £800 of damage
was done thus maybe a fine would have been more appropriate sanction than a sentence. It can thus be
suggested that the law requires individuals to put right that which goes wrong 4 and in not doing so,
the defendant may have become a victim of the judges morals impacting the case ultimately
suggesting that although there is no written law, individuals are essentially forced into behaving in a
manner which would be considered noble. This also suggest that the law is unprincipled in its
approach to deciding weather the failure to act should result in criminal liability.
The case of R v Stone, R v Dobinson further supports this argument as the defendants have also been
convicted on the failure to act, however, it could be argued that in comparison to Miller, Stone and
Dobinson have no direct cause of the incident. According to Ashworth, there are three principals that

Top Almost Zero Calorie Foods
When it comes down to calories, people tend to overlook certain foods that are extremely beneficial.
In relation, high calorie diets easily affect the body through detrimental obesity to simply not eating
the right foods at the right moments. Frankly, low calories diet plans cover specifically losing weight
while improving weight related medical conditions (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, and high
cholesterol). However, ensure to switch within 4 to 16 weeks of low calorie dieting to a healthy diet
that has the required amount of calories according to your particular situation; commit to eating
healthy and regular physical activity.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra Essay
The prophet Zarathustra descended from the mountains after ten years of isolation. He has descended
to teach the masses about the overman, and the belief system that accompanies him. Nietzsche,
through Zarathustra, is offering a new value system to replace Christianity. This value system can be
referred to as Zarathustraism . A vital part to embracing this value system is the deconstruction of
Christianity. Man has redefined Christianity to better suit personal desire, and it has begun to fail as a
result. Zarathustraism will teach Man to live in the light of the Overman, free of the negativity
Christianity caused.

Zarathustra and his company arrive on an island, where Zarathustra encounters a fire dog. (Z II xviii)
On the topic of churches, Zarathustra accuses the fire dog: you surely know your own species best! (Z
II xviii) Fire dogs are symbolic for Christian churches, which are bloated and self centered.
Zarathustraism clearly despises the church for the actions resulted in God s death. The church
demands obedience from its followers, and thus led them astray.
It becomes apparent quickly that Zarathustra has love for Man. Despite this love, he still feels beneath
them. In a town, Zarathustra notices that new, man made structures had become smaller. I pass
through this people and keep my eyes open; they have become smaller, and ever become smaller: the
reason thereof is their doctrine of happiness and virtue (Z III v.ii). Those living in this town do not live
the way Zarathustra has told them to; as a result, Zarathustra literally feels larger than them. Because
he lives in the light of the overman, Zarathustra believes that he is more prominent than a normal
Man. (Z III v.i). Zarathustra s heightened opinion of himself is formed from his dedication to the
overman, as well as his dismissal of God. His relinquishment of God allows him to come closer to the
overman than those who still have faith in Christianity. I am Zarathustra the godless: where do I find
my equal? And all

My Best Friend is Dead Essay
My Best Friend is Dead
I first met Chipper Gleason when I was 5 or 6, when my mother was working with Chipper s mother
Sue teaching music lessons in town. The He Man connection must have been what initially tipped our
parents off that we would be good friends. I remember my mom asking me if I wanted to play with
this kid who had Castle Greyskull, a large green molded castle that He Man lived inside of with the
other Masters of the Universe. The answer was, of course, Yes! and we met one afternoon while both
my mom and Sue taught lessons at the Church.
We played that first afternoon on the sloping hill in front of the church, on the opposite side of Main
Street from the library. Chipper was a small, wirey boy with bright ... Show more content on

I could not see Chipper every day, in part because he lived the next town over. But whenever I could
convince my parents to drive me, we were off, down the long hill out of town to the west in the family
car, over the river in West Groton, and along the winding, rising and falling road to his house that
always seemed to drag on forever.
Chipper s house, on Squannacook Road in Shirley, was a place that was both fascinating and at times
repulsive. The small, white, New England farmhouse was crowded up to the side of the road, with
almost no space between the front door and the street. It always seemed to sneak up on me as we came
around the last curve in the car, as if I had been waiting and waiting and then all of a sudden, there it
was.
The house made up for its tiny front yard with an expansive back yard that wrapped around the back
of the house. Beyond the mowed back yard a large unkempt field stretched back to a line of trees in
the distance. My favorite part of his yard was a big old willow tree that sent protective, fuzzy green
branches down to the lawn.
When we pulled into his house, we usually parked at the top of a short gravel driveway that led to a
large single car garage, the first garage that I had ever seen. The back of the garage was converted into
a dog pen for two large, noisy wolfhounds that I seldom saw but

Newton And Einstein Research Paper
Newton and Einstein have changed science dramatically. They didn t just change the scientific world,
they conveyed many ideas and statements that would modified it for centuries to come. Without
Newton and Einstein s discoveries we wouldn t be where we are in the scientific world today. First of
all Newton developed the theory of gravity, he created the laws of motion, and he created a new and
better version of math called calculus. Newton was an English Physicist and also a Mathematician.
One of his very famous quotes is I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of

made him want to become a scientist even more. He was homeschooled for one year and then sent to
primary school. After entering school Albert did not like authority and was often rude and cocky to

would never go far in life because of problems he had in school . Einstein was also Jewish, so this
causes many problems for him since he lived in Germany right around the time the Nazi were

He conquered the obstacles and started to go to college at Trinity. At college he focused most of his

Comparing Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Versions of Romeo and...
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, 5.3
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic play about two star crossed lovers written by Shakespeare in 1595. The
play is a timeless teenage tradgedy. The play champions the 16th Century belief that true love always
strikes at first sight, (Lamb 1993: Introduction) and even in modern times an audience still want to
believe in such a thing as love at first sight. Act II Scene II the balcony scene displays that romantic
notion perfectly.
The most filmed of all plays, Romeo and Juliet , with its universal themes... remains uniquely

Luhrman has based his version at Verona Beach; America and instead of basing it in the 16th century
like Zeffirelli, he had his film based in the 20th century, with mansions, shiny cars and bright lights.
While Zeffirelli paced his film in an Iambic pentameter a traditional Shakespeare pace; Luhrman
never kept his film at a solid pace. By modernizing these aspects of the play, and reconstructing the
prologue, Luhrmann creates a movie that is more interesting to the modern viewers. ( Franco Zeffirelli
and Baz Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet. 123HelpMe.com). As Zeffirelli may have believed famous
actors would steal his show he instead hired fresh new faces to give the movie a more fresh, innocence
value, But Luhrman used well known actors to play the lead roles. This worked because more people
were attracted to the film by the actors.
Zeffirelli used symbols to help capture his audience. Some were subtle, others were meant to get the
audiences attention. For example Romeo climbing over the high wall to reach Juliet s balcony was a
subtle symbol showing the heights and challenges he would face for true love, and even the fact the
scene was set on a balcony overlooking an orchid which was may have been meant to symbolise the
natural love or green being fresh and inexperienced. Some more prominent symbols were used, such
as Juliet s particular costume in this scene, a symbol

How Did The Great Train Robbery Essay
The Great Train Robbery No crime in British history has ever come close to the Great Train Robbery.
It shocked the people of Britain as well as Scotland Yard who were bewildered by just how well
executed it was and how a group of convicts managed to pull it off. They would make off with little
over £2.6 million in a raid that would take as little as 46 minutes to execute. But these petty criminals
would soon learn the price of their deeds as they would get 378 years in jail between them. But with
any story there is a beginning and this tale will not fail to deliver excitement and fascination. The date
was Tuesday, 27th of November 1962. Two 3.8 litre Jaguars pulled up outside Comet House, the
centre of operations for the British airline BOAC by Heatrow airport. Nobody took notice as four City
Gents walked into the top storey men s bathroom. They were dressed in furry bowler hats and wore
black jackets and suits. They blended in with the crowd and huddled at the bathroom window. As they

Political corruption has had a lasting impression on New York City and the empire state all together. It
is an attribute to the history and development of the city because it has been an influence on the social,
economic and political spheres that are at the heart of society in New York. To develop an
understanding of how political corruption shaped New York City and how it has contributed to the city
s growth is essential to under the history of the city. It is important also to understand how people
reacted to it, because it set a foundation for modern times and how people react to government and its
role in society. My possible thesis for this research paper would be political corruption was an element
to the growth of New York City following the civil war. Through questionable political tactics,
officials used their power to negatively and positively push New York City into the 1900s, which
would lead to political activism by the city s people looking for change. The most important aspect in
understanding political corruption in New York City during the Gilded Age would have to be
identifying how these officials were able to come into power and gain support. In the book, Party
Games: Getting, Keeping, and Using Power in Gilded Age Politics, the author Mark Summers has
examined just that. The tactics and approaches to government and interaction with New York City
citizens were something that was very unique as well as new to American society. The corrupt officials

Essay about analysis of Edmund Spenser s sonnet 67
Edmund Spenser Sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 67 is one of 85 sonnets from Amoretti which
was written about his courtship of Elizabeth Boyle. Spenser and Boyle were married in 1594. Sonnet
67 uses a hunting themed metaphor common in 16th century England comparing the woman to a deer
and the man to a huntsman in pursuit. Sonnet 67 appears to have been inspired by an earlier work by
Petrarch, Rima 190, but with a different ending. In this paper we will take an in depth look at this
work, also commonly referred to as Lyke as a Huntsman . First we will take a look at a literal
interpretation of Sonnet 67. This piece begins with a huntsman in pursuit. His stalked prey, a deer, has
gotten away from him. He is tired and sick of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gentle deare returnd the selfe same way, (Spenser ll. 7) shows that the woman comes back
towards the man. Spenser uses the word deare instead of deer to allude to the metaphor of the deer
actually being a woman that he cares for very much. However, she did not return to him specifically
but just happened upon him in her search for someone or something else, Thinking to quench her
thirst at the next brooke (Spenser ll. 8). Now we will look at the second half of Sonnet 67, also in a
metaphorical sense. The woman sees that the man is no longer chasing after her There she beholding
me with mylder looke, (Spenser ll. 9) and suddenly decides he might not be such a bad suitor after all
Sought not to fly, but fearelesse still did bide: (Spencer ll.10). Spenser turns this piece around from the
original Petrarch piece here. He shows that it is the woman that is in control as opposed to the man.
He reaches out to her nervously because she has been running from him all this time and now she
seems to be encouraging and wanting his affections. He appears hopeful that his sentiments will be
well received by the woman and at the same time fearful of rejection. But she allows him to court her
now and encourages him to love her instead of playing hard to get and running off again Till I in hand
her yet halfe trembling tooke, / And with her owne goodwill hir fyrmely tyde (Spenser ll. 11 and 12).
The man then thinks that it seems very odd to see the woman who

Sleep and fatigue
Most accidents are said to be attributed by the fault of the driver. Fatigue or exhausted drivers have
long been acknowledged to represent a potential traffic safety risk. Brown (1994) has presented a
comprehensive review and discussion of the research of literature on the nature of fatigue and its
effects on driver behaviour and traffic accidents, on the basis of which he concluded that fatigue is
insufficiently recognised and reported as a cause of road accidents . A most major form of withdrawal
of attention is obviously the closing of eyes due to sleepiness.
Basically, falling asleep while driving can be speculated on demographical background information
about the driver such as gender, age and driving experience. As to gender, males have a significantly
higher proportion of sleep related accidents than females. The effect of age was captured by the
variable years with driver s licence, which showed a stronger relationship with sleep involvement.
There may also be differences in lifestyle; sleep habits, work schedule, etc. While many of those who
fall asleep are lucky to escape accidents, there are still thousands who are not as fortunate. It is usually
just a matter of time before a driver who falls asleep at the wheel ends up causing an

Real Estate Debate
Probate real estate investing refers to purchasing property from estates held in probate. When a person
dies all of their assets, including real estate, are transferred to probate. Depending on the complexities
and circumstances, probate can last between six months to three years. If the decedent has an
outstanding mortgage on their real estate holdings, the estate is responsible for making payments.
Insurance, taxes and utilities must be paid through the estate, as well as property maintenance. Probate
real estate investing provides an option to beneficiaries who are struggling to make ends meet. This is
particularly true for estates which are managed by a probate executor who resides out of town.

Many sellers/buyers that have had bad experiences with amateur real estate agents have the
conceptions that all agents are the same. I have compiled this list on the best actions you should
perform before hiring any agent. 1.Real estate agents and Realtors are not the same. Realtors are
licensed to sell properties by the national association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors also have to sign a
list of 17 articles containing the standards of practice they must follow making them slightly more
trustworthy than a real estate agent. 2. Ask people in your neighborhood for recommendations, if you
have any friends that have recently moved in a new house ask them about their experience with their
agent. Client testimonials can be one of the best ways to find out information about your agent. You
can also ask your previous real estate agents for referrals, agents usually connect with each other
which means that they know which ones are the best in the business. 3. Take your time before you
select which agent you want to hire, choosing your agent s in a haste can be a big mistake. Many
people make the mistake that when they are looking for fast sale they hire the first real estate agent
they can find thinking it would save them some time, this conceptions is very wrong as many real

Why Division 1 Athletes Should Be Paid
Abstract
This paper debates whether Division 1 athletes should be paid or not. I explain the situation to the
readers that do not have much background knowledge of the topic. I go on to say that Division 1
players should be paid because they do not have much money to buy necessities. The NCAA does not
allow players to get jobs due to the workload required for their particular sport. The athletes also
cannot sell their items or autographed items for revenue. My next reason athletes should be paid is
because they are the core of the collegiate sports. Without the players, there would be no revenue

money to buy a used car. . . . I am not saying we should get paid with a full time salary, but a stipend
would be nice. (W. Ford, personal communication, April 28, 2011)
It is true. Many players are from unfortunate situations and being stripped of the rights to work for
necessities to get their college paid for is an unethical burden the NCAA has placed on these young
adults shoulders. At the least, these athletes should be getting a return on the time they put in (H.
Bruinius, personal communication, April 3, 2000)
A Multi Billion Dollar Industry Collegiate Industry
In 2012, the NCAA generated 10.6 billion dollars in revenue; 5.6 billion due to ticket sells and 433
million dollars off of rights agreements but only have ( NCAA College Athletics Statistics, 2012).
Surely the NCAA has enough money to provide a stipend all of the 420,000 student athletes. These
players walk around schools and malls noticing stores selling their jerseys, shirts, and shoes, making
millions off of the merchandise. It is only right that the athletes wonder why they bring in millions to
their university but still do not have a car

Essay On Lame Hypnotic Patterns
Frankly, I could go on for days explaining countless ways that NLP Hypnosis can help both Men
Women become better lovers... AND... to find better lovers.
That said, this is just an article, and you re just looking for some juicy content that you can start to use
immediately.
Before I get into the really good stuff, let me say that this isn t about being one of those cheeseballs
with really lame hypnotic language patterns. Very far from it.
To give you a bit of a chuckle, here s an example of what I mean by lame hypnotic patterns:
I once had a student of one of my NLP Training programs tell me that he had a great technique he
learned from his Pickup Artist Guru , and he asked if he could share it in front of the class.
Because I could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I then informed him (after I stopped laughing hysterically which took a while LOL...) that I do believe
it*could* work, but not because of the lame language pattern.
It could work, because he had enough confidence to dare to try something so incredibly lame.
It s the confidence that would work. Not the lame language pattern.
Anyway, here are 5 tips you can actually use that WILL work and will dramatically enhance your
experiences in the bedroom...
1. Learn how to anchor peak states (both emotional and physical). If you don t know what an anchor
is, in the simplest terms, it s an external stimulus that creates a consistent internal response. For
example, it s like when you hear a special love song, and it makes you think about your partner in a
romantic way.
That s just one example of many different kinds of anchors.
Anchors can be set via any, and or all, of our 5 senses, meaning visually, auditorilly, kinestheticlly
(meaning touch), smell, and or taste.
One of many great ways to create a powerful anchor is to gently touch your partner s ear, or ears
(some like tongue, some don t, but almost all like a very very soft touch) during peak emotional and
physical experiences. Yes, that means during

Introduction Experience is an attribute of ultimate success in the workforce. In order to gain
experience, I recently completed an internship at the Marion County Prosecutor s Office (MCPO). I
worked for the paralegals within the Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Units of the Prosecutor s
Office. While completing this internship, I learned several lessons that will help to enhance my
professional ambitions following graduation, while simultaneously learning about the functionality
and dysfunctionality of the organization byand theorizing on how the organization could improve.
Functionality
The Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Units of the Marion County Prosecutor s Office had
numerous functional aspects to their organization. The organizational structure was one of the
strongest benefactors to the functionality of the office. The Prosecutor s Office could be seen as a
mechanistic or bureaucratic organization, meaning that the office wasis based on a hierarchy with
vertical communication structures. The prosecutors were the highest level of authority; who would
communicate their needs to the paralegals (the middle level authority), and the paralegals would relay
these messages to the interns, who were at the lowest level of the communication structure. There
were were two paralegals within the Domestic Violence Unit who served under eight prosecutors. As
an intern, I was serving under the paralegals. The organizational structure benefitted the lower level

Individuality In Research Paper
Individuality Individuality is defined as the particular character, or aggregate of qualities, that

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Kurt Vonnegut, Hairspray directed by John Waters,
Dancing With Style directed by Xander de Boer, and The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. Each piece

Mansfield Crisis Manual Analysis
The Mansfield Crisis manual was drafted in the 2012 2013 school year, prior to this draft the school
used a generic modified crisis plan that was created by J. Berra Engineering, in 1999. The current plan
has not been updated since the 2012 2013 school year; as there are still several emergency contacts
listed that no longer work in the district. Although, the layout of the manual is easily followed and the
information is pertinent, this is the first time I have ever seen this particular manual, or any emergency
manual for the district. There is a shortened version of the procedures for fire, tornado, intruder, and
earthquake drills located in the teacher and student handbooks. However, the handbooks are not as in

emergency, or building problems, are the procedures for loss of heat, loss of air conditioning, loss of
electricity loss of telephone, broken pipes, hazardous material release, fire, and explosion. Under the
natural disasters section there are procedures for severe weather, tornado, lightning, earthquake, flood,
wildfire, and other external hazards. Each procedure outlines steps that should be taken and who
should be contacted after everyone s safety is ensured. I find it interesting that the crisis manual has an
anthrax policy, I would have never thought of adding that particular protocol. Protocols for what to do
if caught outside in a lightning storm, procedures for student and staff suicide, and a strategy
specifically for hazardous material removal are also not things I would have thought of to add to the
crisis manual, in this aspect I think the crisis team went above the normal criteria. I also think that the
school went beyond industry standards by adding locations of first aid supplies and AED devices as
well as attaching a bomb threat

Explain How To Go With Vertical Or Horizontal Placement...
How to Install a Backerboard in a Shower
A concrete backerboard is required for all tile or natural stone showers. It serves as a shower wall
substrate that will help protect the wood of the wall studs from moisture. It I snot waterproof but iis
installed with a moisture barrier. A benefit of using cement backerboards is they remain dimensionally
stable even when wet so they do not swell up, which will lessen the occurrence of tile cracking and
other bathroom problems.
You have to make sure your concrete backerboard is properly installed to have a solid and durable
substrate for your tile installation. Take your time when installing the sheets and ensure that you make
it as moisture resistant as possible.
1. Decide if you will go with vertical or horizontal placement when installing your backerboard in the
shower. It really won t affect the outcome, but it is important to make the process easier. For wide
shower areas, it is better to place the boards on their longest edge. But if it will make the installation
more difficult, then run the sheets with vertically instead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theory Of Self And Identity Essay
The idea of self and identity is highly intricate, and the self can either be one of three options: the self
is private, constructive, or a mixture of both. In the private viewpoint, the self is static, founded on a
set number of traits, values, and dispositions that will not change with time. The constructivist theory
argues that the self is changeable by nature and changes based on varying circumstances. Then, there is
the mixture idea, that these separate opposing ideas are connected, as the way the self is developed
and reflected upon is based on how the brain and individual thoughts develop. This is highlighted in
Gopnik s statement that, Ourselves shape our brains at least as much as our brains our selves (Gopnik
2). When reflecting on Gopnik s article more it seems only logical to think that some parts of the self
is constructed, whereas other parts are private, and this completely depends on the environment of the
child. Parenting styles is one of those environmental aspects, and it largely impacts how a child s
socioemotional, and language skills develop, which in turn has a ripple effect on how the child
ultimately views their own personality and self. The most telling test to measure socioemotional
development of a child is through attachment, and the most successful way to measure this is through
the strange experiment. Children are classed as insecure resistant, insecure disorganized, insecure
avoidant, or secure based on how they behave during the

Political And Political Effects Of The European...
The European Revolutions of 1848 were sequences of republican rebellions against the monarchs,
which were thought of as the height of a sequence of political, economic, and social disasters. The
revolutions began in large urban areas and its results, particularly in France, Germany, and the
Austrian Empire, were a shock to Europe with the defeat of the European Revolutions and cause
general disenchantment with liberals. Though the revolutions spread to small rural parts, the relative
strengths of leaders, as well as the conflict between liberal and nationalist and the role of the working
class, all contributed to its impact. The revolutions of 1848 caused the most brutal and extensive
political movements that affected the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of European
nations, while aiming for democracy.
France was where the revolutions first started, when its people sought suffrage worldwide. After the
King discharged François Guizot, aiming to outlaw the banqueting campaign , it led to the radicals
protesting which caused violence as troops shot at the protesters. This brutality amplified the anger of
the French people. Refusing to release the protesters also just fueled the fight for reform even more,
which led to the organization of a second government after the King s resignation. In the end, the
disaster increased as the constitutional government experienced challenges. Later, the people failed to
assert a new government and eventually young workers

Duchess Of Malfi As A Revenge Tragedy Analysis

Webster s Duchess of Malfi as a Revenge Tragedy
A revenge tragedy is one in which the tragedy is brought about by the pursuit and accomplishment of
revenge. In other words, its blood asking for blood. The revenge tragedy was very popular during the
Elizabethan and Jacobean periods, and it owned its popularity largely to the influence of Seneca, the
ancient Roman dramatist. Revenge tragedy is different from other tragedies in the sense that the whole
part of the tragedy will be based on revenge. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, though Macduff kills
Macbeth to avenge the killing of his family, the play can t be called a revenge tragedy as Macbeth
himself is responsible for his own tragic end. The Duchess of Malfi by the English dramatist John ...

There is no ghost but the echo from the Duchess tomb fulfils one of the functions of the ghost of
revenge tragedy. The voice warns a doomed man of his danger and, at the same time, reveals the
unknown fact of its own death. The play is sometimes ridiculed by modern critics for the excessive
violence and horror. The severed hands of dead Antonio, the wax figures of the Duchess children,
dance of the mad men, the appearance of the tomb maker, and the executioner with all the apparatus of
death bring in the elements of horror in the play. In a typical revenge play, the protagonist directs his
revenge towards an unjust action, but the vengeance is followed by a series of retributions, which
ultimately lead to the death of many characters. The Duchess, Anotonio, Cardinal, Ferdinand, Julia,
Bosola etc are all murdered for revenge. Though it begins as a love story it ends as a dreadful tragedy.

main characters are dead order is restored at the end. The Antonio s eldest son is raised to the throne

The Bim Capabilities And Bim Maturity Level
Project: To assess the BIM capabilities and BIM Maturity Level. Having established exiting BIM
maturity level, propose measures for achieving level 2 BIM by 2016.
According to the Government Construction Strategy document in 2011, the Government will require
fully collaborative Level 2 3D BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation and data
being electronic) as a mini¬¬¬¬¬mum by 2016.
For the three weeks I am working at the London Bridge office of Jacob s, I intend to:
Understand exactly what BIM is and the basic criteria for each BIM level.
Evaluate where Jacob s is in relation to these BIM levels.
Suggest improvements as to how Jacob s can reach the Government s target by 2016.
The use of level 2 BIM in all public sector construction work is imperative as it affects everybody on a
day to day basis. Using BIM software will not only reduce the amount of time spent at the
construction site, but it will also reduce costs due to errors. One of the current projects Jacob s is
working on using BIM software is the Crossrail (Europe s largest construction project). This will
increase London s rail capacity by 10 per cent and bring 1.5 million new commuters , not to mention
bringing an estimated 42 billion to the UK economy and creating 30,000 jobs. Due to the use of some
aspects of BIM, the process of creating the Crossrail will not only be faster and more efficient but will
also help the UK s economy.

Augustine of Hippo (354 430) was a North African man who took an extremely tumultuous path to
sainthood. In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric,
Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be successful
would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At an early age,
Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianity was too uneducated for him.

Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more
important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean, he
converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in Manichaean
beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine truly admires
his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought to his discourse
(Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact that Faustus will
readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an argument or
explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this lack of training
in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the questions that
Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the few people that is
able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the content is lacking.
Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6), without his will or
knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been captured (V.vii.13).

The Loudest Voice Paley Summary
The Loudest Voice is a short story about the struggles of a girl who faces the battle of an overly
controlling parent. The author, Grace Paley, argues that Shirley should be in control of her own life.
Shirley is invited to narrate a Christmas themed play. This goes against her mom s religious beliefs,
which leads to arguments between Shirley s parents because her father disagrees. Her father argues
that Shirley should have freedom of choice in her actions, while her mother argues that Shirley does
not know what s right yet. In the end, Shirley acts in the play. Ms. Paley shows that Shirley has
freedom of choice, but it comes at a cost. The central theme of the story is Shirley has to decide
whether she chooses change vs. tradition. Shirley s mom is conflicted by the thought of having her
Jewish daughter be anywhere near the school s Christian play. She is a Jewish immigrant who has

found himself meeting his future side man in art, Raoul Hausmann. He was fitted as unfit to join the
military when wanting to join, so he had began focusing on art instead. This lead to him making
wonderful pieces of art and even some documents such as books and novels. Most of his work had
been strete performances with his dear friend Raoul Hausmann, which did get some interest through
the crowd with them both working nicely together. His work yet again had been mostly put together
from newspaper clippings, morphing people from simple ink to art. Going through his art in my

Count Roch Gilbert Du Motier, Marquis De Lafayette
Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, Lafayette for short, was a
French soldier who was involved with many wars, including but not limited to the American
Revolutionary War and the French Revolution. He was a strong, powerful, smart warrior and was not
afraid in the face of battle. He fought long and hard for freedom, and helped France and America win
their independence. Lafayette was born on September 6, 1757 to a wealthy family in Chavaniac. He
married a young woman named Marie Adrienne Françoise de Noailles, Marquise de La Fayette and
were to have four children in their marriage. About a year later, he was enlisted as a major general and
was sent off to America. There, he fought in his first battle: the Battle of Brandywine. He was shot in
the leg and had to recover from his wound for two months before returning to the war. After many
more battles, he set sail for France in 1779. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the Austrian Netherlands. He spent more than five years in prison, and was released thanks to
Napoleon Bonaparte. Lafayette lived the next 37 years of his life becoming involved with events in his

Careers in Lodging and Food and Beverage Industries
The hospitality industry is a very lucrative and rewarding career choice. Choosing a career in this field
is not for the faint at heart. A career in this industry requires an individual that is ambitious, self
motivated, and has a charismatic personality. However, the hard work comes with many personal and
financial rewards. Hospitality covers all careers that can come underneath the lodging, restaurants,
event planning, theme parks, transportation, and tourism. However, this paper will go in depth
explaining the role of general management, growth of employment, and human ... Show more content

They must provide owners with a reasonable return on investment, keep guest satisfied and returning,
and keep employees happy. This may seem easy, but because there are so many interpersonal
transactions and because hotels are open every day, all day, the complexities of operating become
challenge that the general manager must face and overcome. The GM not only focuses on leading and
operating the hotel departments but also on aspects of the infrastructure, from room atmosphere to
security (Walker, 2013).
If a restaurant is inside of a hotel, then the food and beverage division is overseen by the general
manager of the hotel. In this scenario the person that runs the food and beverage division is referred to
as the director of food and beverage. In this case, the director reports to the general manager of the
hotel. However, if there is a free standing restaurant, bar, or lounge; there is a general manager who is
responsible for the entire operations of that establishment. If the restaurant, bar, or lounge is a
freestanding establishment, the owner will sometimes double as the general manager and do the job on
their own without hiring someone. Sometimes owners will hire an individual to fill the job as General
Manager, especially if they have invested in a restaurant and do not have any experience in how to run
it properly.

Zoot Suit Riots Case Study

Zoot Suit Riots
Last year I was able to get a small glimpse on the Zoot Suit Riots that had taken place in the 1930s.
On August 4, 1942 the United States concluded a temporary agreement for the use of Mexican
agricultural labor on United State farms. World War II took a huge impact on the beginning of this
program and the beginning of the conflicts that ran through Harlem. These so called riots soon began
to change the views on the Mexicans that were dressed in such a way the Americans began to have
conflict with these Pachuco Zoot Suiters. In June 1943 Zoot Suit Riots in Los Angeles, California
were a series of attacks against Mexican American youth and other minorities by white American
servicemen. After these Zoot Suit riots broke out and began to startle the mexican ethnicities. Families
were damaged, lives were killed. Discouraging this is a topic that was completely reversed and not
taken as seriously as is should have been. Imposing the lower and colored minorities for the economic
problems this country has gone through.
During these times dance halls were extremely popular for interacting, dancing and forgetting about
the stress of what was going on around the economic world such as the Great Depression. L.A was full
of mexicans. The style of the young people began to evolve and mexicans were influenced through the
hip, slang and Chicano ways. These zoot suits outfits were very popular in African American

Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless, Hungry,...
Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the corner with his small
family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read, HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY
FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged and could obviously use help. His right leg had been
amputated, so he definitely needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the
charities? The groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charity impact on homeless,
hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families, philanthropic
groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing, and food. First, philanthropic
groups should finance programs for medical assistance. While most middle and upper class workers
can afford health care for themselves and their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom
the thought of being committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look
for insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent in two months
time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable to afford insurance, but one in
specific is the Charity Care Policy at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It is a
local charity organization that benefits the less fortunate. If a patient is below one hundred percent of
the poverty guidelines, which is he or she is eligible to have his or her medical expenses taken care of

  • 2. Dred Scott Vs Kraemer There were many cases during the civil rights movement that helped shape the world into what it is today. By the middle of the twentieth century, black people had long experienced a physical and social landscape of white supremacy, embedded in policy, social codes, and both intimate and spectacular forms of racial restriction and violence. It was time for a change. The Supreme Court made many decisions to change and affect this movement. Some of these these cases are Dred Scott vs. John F.A. Stanford, Plessy vs. Ferguson, and Shelley vs. Kraemer. Dred Scott vs. Sanford was a case in which a slave named Dred Scott and his wife, Harriet, sued for their freedom in a St. Louis city court. They could be made free because they had been held in a free state before going back to a slave state. But since slaves were not considered citizens, the judgement was made that they could not expect any protection from the federal court. They also stated congress didn t have the power to ban slavery in a federal territory. This case lead us one step closer to the civil war, since it angered many people. • 3. Essay on criminal law esssay English law has been subject to being described as unprincipled and inconsistent in its approach to the question of whether the failure to act is a sufficient basis for criminal liability. This is due to a range of factors an example of which being the collection of convictions passed to defendants who have been charged with a crime, which did not involve a positive or direct action. In addition for those who have not been convicted, it is questionable whether the law is unprincipled as it is unclear about the moral obligation that individuals have to act and when a moral obligation is a legal obligation. There is also uncertainty regarding what is a sufficient basis for criminal liability as each case is different and it is difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lord Diplock stated, I see no rational ground for excluding from conduct capable of giving rise to criminal liability conduct which consists of failing to take measures that lie within one s powers to counteract a danger that one has created 3. This statement emphasises that the focus is the danger created however the crime is damaging property thus the argument being used to prove his guilt does not quite match the crime as no one beside himself would have been harmed. In fact, £800 of damage was done thus maybe a fine would have been more appropriate sanction than a sentence. It can thus be suggested that the law requires individuals to put right that which goes wrong 4 and in not doing so, the defendant may have become a victim of the judges morals impacting the case ultimately suggesting that although there is no written law, individuals are essentially forced into behaving in a manner which would be considered noble. This also suggest that the law is unprincipled in its approach to deciding weather the failure to act should result in criminal liability. The case of R v Stone, R v Dobinson further supports this argument as the defendants have also been convicted on the failure to act, however, it could be argued that in comparison to Miller, Stone and Dobinson have no direct cause of the incident. According to Ashworth, there are three principals that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Thus Spoke Zarathustra Essay The prophet Zarathustra descended from the mountains after ten years of isolation. He has descended to teach the masses about the overman, and the belief system that accompanies him. Nietzsche, through Zarathustra, is offering a new value system to replace Christianity. This value system can be referred to as Zarathustraism . A vital part to embracing this value system is the deconstruction of Christianity. Man has redefined Christianity to better suit personal desire, and it has begun to fail as a result. Zarathustraism will teach Man to live in the light of the Overman, free of the negativity Christianity caused. Zarathustra has learnt the nature of God. Zarathustra and his company arrive on an island, where Zarathustra encounters a fire dog. (Z II xviii) On the topic of churches, Zarathustra accuses the fire dog: you surely know your own species best! (Z II xviii) Fire dogs are symbolic for Christian churches, which are bloated and self centered. Zarathustraism clearly despises the church for the actions resulted in God s death. The church demands obedience from its followers, and thus led them astray. It becomes apparent quickly that Zarathustra has love for Man. Despite this love, he still feels beneath them. In a town, Zarathustra notices that new, man made structures had become smaller. I pass through this people and keep my eyes open; they have become smaller, and ever become smaller: the reason thereof is their doctrine of happiness and virtue (Z III v.ii). Those living in this town do not live the way Zarathustra has told them to; as a result, Zarathustra literally feels larger than them. Because he lives in the light of the overman, Zarathustra believes that he is more prominent than a normal Man. (Z III v.i). Zarathustra s heightened opinion of himself is formed from his dedication to the overman, as well as his dismissal of God. His relinquishment of God allows him to come closer to the overman than those who still have faith in Christianity. I am Zarathustra the godless: where do I find my equal? And all ... The He Man connection must have been what initially tipped our parents off that we would be good friends. I remember my mom asking me if I wanted to play with this kid who had Castle Greyskull, a large green molded castle that He Man lived inside of with the other Masters of the Universe. The answer was, of course, Yes! and we met one afternoon while both my mom and Sue taught lessons at the Church. Chipper s house, on Squannacook Road in Shirley, was a place that was both fascinating and at times repulsive. The small, white, New England farmhouse was crowded up to the side of the road, with almost no space between the front door and the street. It always seemed to sneak up on me as we came around the last curve in the car, as if I had been waiting and waiting and then all of a sudden, there it was. The house made up for its tiny front yard with an expansive back yard that wrapped around the back of the house. Beyond the mowed back yard a large unkempt field stretched back to a line of trees in the distance. My favorite part of his yard was a big old willow tree that sent protective, fuzzy green branches down to the lawn. William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, 5.3 Romeo and Juliet is a tragic play about two star crossed lovers written by Shakespeare in 1595. The play is a timeless teenage tradgedy. The play champions the 16th Century belief that true love always strikes at first sight, (Lamb 1993: Introduction) and even in modern times an audience still want to believe in such a thing as love at first sight. Act II Scene II the balcony scene displays that romantic notion perfectly. While Zeffirelli paced his film in an Iambic pentameter a traditional Shakespeare pace; Luhrman never kept his film at a solid pace. By modernizing these aspects of the play, and reconstructing the prologue, Luhrmann creates a movie that is more interesting to the modern viewers. As Zeffirelli may have believed famous actors would steal his show he instead hired fresh new faces to give the movie a more fresh, innocence value, But Luhrman used well known actors to play the lead roles. This worked because more people were attracted to the film by the actors. Zeffirelli used symbols to help capture his audience. Some were subtle, others were meant to get the audiences attention. For example Romeo climbing over the high wall to reach Juliet s balcony was a subtle symbol showing the heights and challenges he would face for true love, and even the fact the scene was set on a balcony overlooking an orchid which was may have been meant to symbolise the natural love or green being fresh and inexperienced. It shocked the people of Britain as well as Scotland Yard who were bewildered by just how well executed it was and how a group of convicts managed to pull it off. They would make off with little over £2.6 million in a raid that would take as little as 46 minutes to execute. But these petty criminals would soon learn the price of their deeds as they would get 378 years in jail between them. But with any story there is a beginning and this tale will not fail to deliver excitement and fascination. The date was Tuesday, 27th of November 1962. Two 3.8 litre Jaguars pulled up outside Comet House, the centre of operations for the British airline BOAC by Heatrow airport. Nobody took notice as four City Gents walked into the top storey men s bathroom. They were dressed in furry bowler hats and wore black jackets and suits. It is an attribute to the history and development of the city because it has been an influence on the social, economic and political spheres that are at the heart of society in New York. To develop an understanding of how political corruption shaped New York City and how it has contributed to the city s growth is essential to under the history of the city. It is important also to understand how people reacted to it, because it set a foundation for modern times and how people react to government and its role in society. My possible thesis for this research paper would be political corruption was an element to the growth of New York City following the civil war. Through questionable political tactics, officials used their power to negatively and positively push New York City into the 1900s, which would lead to political activism by the city s people looking for change. The most important aspect in understanding political corruption in New York City during the Gilded Age would have to be identifying how these officials were able to come into power and gain support. In the book, Party Games: Getting, Keeping, and Using Power in Gilded Age Politics, the author Mark Summers has examined just that. Essay about analysis of Edmund Spenser s sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser Sonnet 67 Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 67 is one of 85 sonnets from Amoretti which was written about his courtship of Elizabeth Boyle. Spenser and Boyle were married in 1594. Sonnet 67 uses a hunting themed metaphor common in 16th century England comparing the woman to a deer and the man to a huntsman in pursuit. Sonnet 67 appears to have been inspired by an earlier work by Petrarch, Rima 190, but with a different ending. In this paper we will take an in depth look at this work, also commonly referred to as Lyke as a Huntsman . First we will take a look at a literal interpretation of Sonnet 67. However, she did not return to him specifically but just happened upon him in her search for someone or something else, Thinking to quench her thirst at the next brooke (Spenser ll. 8). Spenser turns this piece around from the original Petrarch piece here. He shows that it is the woman that is in control as opposed to the man. He reaches out to her nervously because she has been running from him all this time and now she seems to be encouraging and wanting his affections. He appears hopeful that his sentiments will be well received by the woman and at the same time fearful of rejection. But she allows him to court her now and encourages him to love her instead of playing hard to get and running off again Till I in hand her yet halfe trembling tooke, / And with her owne goodwill hir fyrmely tyde (Spenser ll. 11 and 12). • 27. The Theory Of Self And Identity Essay The idea of self and identity is highly intricate, and the self can either be one of three options: the self is private, constructive, or a mixture of both. In the private viewpoint, the self is static, founded on a set number of traits, values, and dispositions that will not change with time. The constructivist theory argues that the self is changeable by nature and changes based on varying circumstances. Then, there is the mixture idea, that these separate opposing ideas are connected, as the way the self is developed and reflected upon is based on how the brain and individual thoughts develop. This is highlighted in Gopnik s statement that, Ourselves shape our brains at least as much as our brains our selves (Gopnik 2). When reflecting on Gopnik s article more it seems only logical to think that some parts of the self is constructed, whereas other parts are private, and this completely depends on the environment of the child. Parenting styles is one of those environmental aspects, and it largely impacts how a child s socioemotional, and language skills develop, which in turn has a ripple effect on how the child ultimately views their own personality and self. The most telling test to measure socioemotional development of a child is through attachment, and the most successful way to measure this is through the strange experiment. Children are classed as insecure resistant, insecure disorganized, insecure avoidant, or secure based on how they behave during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Political And Political Effects Of The European... The European Revolutions of 1848 were sequences of republican rebellions against the monarchs, which were thought of as the height of a sequence of political, economic, and social disasters. The revolutions began in large urban areas and its results, particularly in France, Germany, and the Austrian Empire, were a shock to Europe with the defeat of the European Revolutions and cause general disenchantment with liberals. Though the revolutions spread to small rural parts, the relative strengths of leaders, as well as the conflict between liberal and nationalist and the role of the working class, all contributed to its impact. The revolutions of 1848 caused the most brutal and extensive political movements that affected the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of European nations, while aiming for democracy. France was where the revolutions first started, when its people sought suffrage worldwide. After the King discharged François Guizot, aiming to outlaw the banqueting campaign , it led to the radicals protesting which caused violence as troops shot at the protesters. This brutality amplified the anger of the French people. Refusing to release the protesters also just fueled the fight for reform even more, which led to the organization of a second government after the King s resignation. In the end, the disaster increased as the constitutional government experienced challenges. Later, the people failed to assert a new government and eventually young workers ... Duchess Of Malfi As A Revenge Tragedy Analysis Sr. Deena David 17/PELA/035 Webster s Duchess of Malfi as a Revenge Tragedy A revenge tragedy is one in which the tragedy is brought about by the pursuit and accomplishment of revenge. In other words, its blood asking for blood. The revenge tragedy was very popular during the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods, and it owned its popularity largely to the influence of Seneca, the ancient Roman dramatist. Revenge tragedy is different from other tragedies in the sense that the whole part of the tragedy will be based on revenge. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, though Macduff kills Macbeth to avenge the killing of his family, the play can t be called a revenge tragedy as Macbeth himself is responsible for his own tragic end. There is no ghost but the echo from the Duchess tomb fulfils one of the functions of the ghost of revenge tragedy. The voice warns a doomed man of his danger and, at the same time, reveals the unknown fact of its own death. The play is sometimes ridiculed by modern critics for the excessive violence and horror. The severed hands of dead Antonio, the wax figures of the Duchess children, dance of the mad men, the appearance of the tomb maker, and the executioner with all the apparatus of death bring in the elements of horror in the play. In a typical revenge play, the protagonist directs his revenge towards an unjust action, but the vengeance is followed by a series of retributions, which ultimately lead to the death of many characters. The Duchess, Anotonio, Cardinal, Ferdinand, Julia, Bosola etc are all murdered for revenge. Though it begins as a love story it ends as a dreadful tragedy. The violence and the horror scenes give it the touch it needs to be a revenge tragedy. Though all the main characters are dead order is restored at the end. In order to reach a solution, a thorough exploration of all the possibilities is required, gaging every aspect and driving a particular solution. Is Sole Proprietorship an option? The type of business structure suitable for Tim and Tom depends upon the nature of the business relationship they want to hold. If Tim and Tom want to work together as business equals then sole proprietorship is not an option, unless in the case of one owning the firm and hiring the other. In this case however, the person owning the firm would generally be the one subject to business laws. From a legal perspective the owner and the firm are a not separate, the owner is unlimitedly liable for the obligations of the firm. This implies that personal assets are exposed to the risk of business liability. However, initial set up costs are minimal including; registering a business name, if don t want to do business with own name, and an ABN (Australian Business Number). In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric, Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be successful would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At an early age, Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianity was too uneducated for him. Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean, he converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in Manichaean beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine truly admires his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought to his discourse (Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact that Faustus will readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an argument or explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this lack of training in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the questions that Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the few people that is able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the content is lacking. Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6), without his will or knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been captured (V.vii.13).
