Driving under the influence
Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two drinks,
people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the influence.
Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life
changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to
plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances.
There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people died in
alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in
the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very
expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be
incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being involved in
an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion per year (Snyder).
This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases, insurance and much more.
These costs are leading indicators of how extensive and severe drunk driving is making a devastating
financial impact on the American economy.
Drunk drivers tend to be young when caught driving under the

Majestic Parthenon
Throughout the years architects have been able to display their artistic abilities by showcasing their
different styles and capabilities in structures that still stand from thousands of years ago. This essay
will provide an explanation of my preference for this image, a short history of its construction, a brief
analysis of the buildings function, as well as the style of the amazing archaic Parthenon of ancient
Athens.
A few semesters ago I took Greek and Roman Civilization at the University of the People, while
taking this class I learned a great deal of information regarding the majestic Parthenon and I was
excited to see that it was one of the pictures available for this assignment. Due to the mere fact that I
studied this building and its amazing history, it only seems right to begin with a brief history of how it
became what it is today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its construction was ordered by the Athenian political leader Pericles, following the end of the
Peloponnesian War to symbolize Athens power and influence in the Mediterranean. The Parthenon
was built by the architects Iktinos and Kallikrates (Sakoulas, 2002) and was utilized for religious
functions, more specifically as a dedication to Athena, who according to Greek mythology, was the
Greek goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts, and literature ( Athena, 1997).
Amazingly, over 2,500 years later the Parthenon s remains, still stand, gloriously on top of the
Acropolis. Furthermore, the wear and tear of the temple tells an amazing story. Not only has this
magnificent structure survived earthquakes, being set on fire, being blown apart by exploding
gunpowder, a multitude of lootings, it continues to face the woes of pollution daily. However, through
all this you can still see that the Parthenon was a perfect representation of the power Athens held

Summary Of A Pair Of Tickets
The short story A Pair of Tickets , by Amy Tan, highlights the distress that war victims face during
times of conflict. Tan accentuates the shocking actions that a mother must take in order to protect her
children while choosing death for herself. These actions question the state of mind that the mother
must have after having to take such drastic measures. Furthermore, this question is carried on to the
modern 21st century because of the crisis that many refugees are facing in various countries, including
their own. Numerous victims of war are being subjected to cruel, inhuman scenes that can have an

Milk is very important to all societies, the different varieties in milk gives the opportunity for others to
have the ability to gain drink milk. But, scientist now want to try and figure out why some humans can
t digest milk while others can. The scientific research that has been done in order to explain the
biological basis of human lactase is archaeological and genetics. Archaeologist examined pottery
shards in order to grasp what the animals where actually consuming indicating where the proteins
came from. Other scientists did field work with both Africans and Europeans that either had
experiences raising a cattle or did not have experiences with cattle in order to show that human lactase
is genetic. In order to show and or to further explain the biological basis of human lactase I will first
discuss who can actually drink milk, the history of both Europeans and Africans. Next, I will discuss
the values of both plant domestication and animal domestication. I will then talk about where cattle s
get their vitamins from and lastly I will discuss the value of milk, as well as how it benefited other
people.
According to the article Ancient DNA Solves milk mystery written by Erika Check, the people who
can easily consume milk are those that were a part of the African and European culture. The reason

Limitations Of Sona Theory
The goal SORNA set out to achieve of increasing public safety is based on rational choice theory and
is evident throughout the policy. SORNA assumes sex offenders make a rational choice to commit
their crimes for their own self interest. A study carried out on the offending process of serial sex
offenders whose victims were strangers, discovered that at various phases of the crime (pre crime,
crime, and post crime) sex offenders carried out a cost/benefit analysis (Beauregard Leclerc, 2007).

Managing and tracking where offenders are, as well as notifying the communities in which a sex
offender resides, works, or studies, is seen as a way of keeping the public safe. Members of the
community could be more vigilant if they were provided with more information about a sex offender,
therefore reducing their chances of being victimized. Furthermore, if there is a greater awareness in
the community, if anyone sees anything suspicious, it is more likely to be reported to law enforcement,
and at a faster rate. A latent goal of SORNA is to act as a deterrent (The National Institute of Justice,

having personal information shared to the wider community would make a potential sex offender

Alabama V. Jaffree ( 1985 )
Wallace, Governor of Alabama v. Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16 1
20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First Amendment
Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment? Facts of the Case:
The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an Alabama statute that
authorized teachers to lead a one minute period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer in all
public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the Mobile County Public School
system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been subjected to various acts of religious
indoctrination, as a result of Alabama statute 16 1 20.1 and asked for an injunction prohibiting Mobile
County schools from maintaining or allowing the maintenance of regular religious prayer services.
The purpose of Jaffree s complaint was to prohibit the devotional services occurring in his children s
school and the consequent mockery of his children that occurred when they refused to recite the
prayers to Almighty God (Stevens, 40). This type of law in Alabama public schools was not the first of
its kind. Prior to statute 6 11 20.1, Alabama passed law 16 1 20 authorizing one minute of silence in
public schools for meditation. After the authorization of statute 16 1 20.1 came 16 1 20.2, which
allowed teachers to lead willing students in a prayer (Stevens, 40). Opinion of the

However, the American Heart Association (AHA) reports that cigarette smoking is responsible for
440,000 deaths each year. MedlinePlus reports that both cigarettes (smoking tobacco) and chewing
(smokeless) tobacco are bad for your health, and cause multiple and often fatal health problems.
Cardiovascular Disease
One negative effect that tobacco and nicotine addiction has on the health of the body is cardiovascular
disease. AHA reports that cigarette smokers are two to three times more likely to develop
cardiovascular disease than people who do not smoke. Also according to AHA, of the 440,000 deaths
each year caused by cigarette smoking, 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases.
Nicotine in tobacco products causes an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, and a narrowing of
the arteries. Carbon monoxide that is inhaled when tobacco is smoked decreases the amount of oxygen
carried by the blood to feed the body s tissues. The AHA reports that carbon monoxide and nicotine
damages the artery walls, which leads to the deposition of fat and narrowing of arteries, which further
increases blood pressure. Damaged vessels and high blood pressure are all risk factors for heart
failure. Furthermore, smoking tobacco causes the blood to clot more easily, which may cause a heart
attack or stroke. see survivor stories

The Extent Of The Government Role Of The American Economy
The Extent of the Government Role in the American Economy Nicolai Noordzy Northcentral
Technical College The Extent of the Government Role in the American Economy The economy was
one of the most pressing issues in the recent 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, which saw Republican
businessman and celebrity Donald Trump closely elected over former Secretary of State and
Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton. In many ways, the election can be seen as a backlash and
conservative effort against the economic philosophies and policies of the two candidates and their
parties, and on which candidate could better spur economic growth. The economy greatly affects all
American lives, often without the people s direct say, but nonetheless influencing how easy it is to get
a job, how quickly the prices of goods and services rise and fall in a market system, and how much
money people can spend or save for the future. In the third to fourth fiscal quarters of the year 2008, a
severe financial crisis began to loom over the global economy, resulting in further economic downturn
for the United States. Millions of people lost their jobs, and millions more would not be able to find
work thereafter. While the U.S. economy has improved since then, policy makers and both Trump and
Clinton have argued endlessly over the best way to drive the economy successfully into the future.

candidates, reflects

Alternative Energy is the Solution to the Fossil Fuel Dilemma
Alternative Energy is the Solution to the Fossil Fuel Dilemma
If the United States continues to employ fossil fuels for energy, the nation will ultimately become
more dependent upon fuel imports from the troublesome nations of the Middle East, and we will
continue to damage our precious environment. Since the United States relies so heavily on fuel from
the Middle East, the U.S. is subject to the will of those quarrelsome nations in order to maintain our
fuel reserve. A shortage of oil can happen at any time and would cause an energy crisis that would
hinder the United States. Another reason for us to substitute fossil fuels with alternative energy
sources is that fossil fuels are hazardous to the environment. In order to minimize ... Show more

The price of oil went from $2.50 a barrel to $30.00 a barrel in six years (2). This price change caused
us to plunge into an energy crisis. Fogel also says that many experts believe the oil crisis will
inevitably repeat itself if the U.S. does not curb its high demands for imported oil (2). This means that
if we do not use some other form of energy, then the U.S. will fall into another energy crisis.
Alternative energy is crucial to the preservation of a habital environment. According to Christine A.
Erwin, doctors say that fifty thousand American deaths per year are directly connected to airborne
particulate matter. About one third of this pollution comes from power plants (1). Therefore, if we
were to produce power without producing the pollutants, then we would cut the airborne particulates
by one third, thus reducing American deaths. Solar energy is one answer to producing power without
pollution. This energy is inexhaustible and available for use anywhere. Fogel says that if everyone
could make full use of the sun s light and heat, we would have about twenty thousand times as much
energy as the entire world uses now (73). We can never use up solar energy because it is enormous and
limitless. According to Erwin, solar energy is already being used everywhere in many different
applications. People are using solar energy to heat pools, houses, and hot water tanks and also to

Sexual Harassment At The Workplace
Part B
As seen in the case study, a court decision may be one way for any company to legally define what
constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace, but there are many ways to define sexual harassment.
Everyone has different views and tolerance levels towards sexual harassment. When a case of sexual
harassment occurs in a workplace, however, it comes down to how the courts define sexual
harassment. The Supreme Court defines sexual harassment to be unlawful in two ways. The first type
involves sexual harassment that results in a tangible employment action; this is referred to as quid pro
quo. For example, if an employee complies with the harasser s request, then she will get a raise. This
unlawful act is usually presented in the workplace by a person who has an upper hand, such as a
manager, to ensure that s/he will get what s/he wants. Employees are often victimized by fear that they
will not get promoted or that they will get fired. They also dread that if a complaint is filed, it will not
be handled correctly. This instance of sexual harassment always involves another violation of
employee rights; [sic] wrongful termination. This would occur, for instance, when a supervisor . . .
tells a subordinate that . . . she must be sexually cooperative with [him] or . . . she will be fired, and
who then indeed does fire the subordinate for not submitting ( U.S. Supreme Court Defines ).

Another form of sexual harassment is known as hostile work environment.

Communism Under Stalin vs. Mao
Josef Stalin and Mao Zedong were both very similar and still quite different. Each of these great
leaders wished to transform his country into something new and powerful. Though their methods of
rule were not the same, they each were extremely effective leaders and had enormous impacts on his
own country. Russia, before Stalin, could absolutely be considered as being a weak and peasant
country. China, before Mao Zedong, was attempting, but failing, to modernize efficiently under
Nationalism. These two countries under Stalin and Mao Zedong advanced quickly and went from
being smaller and mostly powerless countries to global powers. These advances, however, did not

Though Stalin was the main reason Russia is the strong country it is currently, countless people died.
In fact, Stalin executed more people than Hitler killed, which is a horrific amount. China, like Russia,
was not an advanced country in the least. The country was ruled by corrupt nationalists, who despised
communists and killed them. This made China s change from a more nationalistic governing to a
communist system very difficult and very bloody. Mao Zedong was a leader in the communist party
during the civil war between nationalists and communists. He began as a strong and well loved leader,
quite opposite from Stalin. Mao Zedong would listen to others very well and try to understand their
way of thinking, which made him a very successful and loved leader. But when the communist party
took over China, he began to change into a hard headed and less understanding man. Communism
under Mao Zedong was beneficial for China. Mao Zedong pushed the citizens of China to be
cooperative with each other and share all of their belongings. He also tried to gain the trust and love of
all the lower class citizens by taking lands from the higher class citizens and giving them to lower
class citizens. He killed many landlords, which the majority of Chinese love him. He was praised for
his cruelty. So, in the end, Stalin and Mao Zedong became somewhat similar in their leadership, but
Stalin was much more cruel. In conclusion,

Steam Engines
By Katelyn Warga 2nd Period
Being around for over 2000 years, the steam engine has proved its worth. Invented in the industrial
revolution, this heat engine performs mechanical work using steam as its working fluid. Throughout
its time the steam engine has had many uses, and been modified many times to change its pronounced
task. This had led to the steam engine being a very important invention in the industrial revolution,
changing life in social and economic ways that still impact today. The steam engine drove the world
into an era of big business and production that is still evident today.

The condensed steam would create a vacuum, and add pressurized steam to move water. In 1712,
Thomas Newcomen took this idea and built on it, creating the atmospheric engine . It was the first
engine that used a piston, and was made for pumping in mines. But the first moving steam engine
came into play when James Watt patented a continuous rotary motion steam engine. It could be fueled
by water, coal, or wood. It had the capability to power manufacturing machines. This allowed factories
to locate in areas where no constant water source was available. Later, they could be applied to
locomotives and traction engines.
Why was the Steam Engine Invented?
The steam engine s initial use was for pumping mines back in the 1700 s. As technology evolved and
rotaries were applied, the engine was capable of much more. They could power factory machines such
as power looms and spinning mules. They later in the 1900 s powered modes of transportation such as
steamboats, railway locomotives, and cars. They lead to the widespread use of looms in factories,
driving change and the industrial revolution. The steam engine s overall use was to power things.
How does the Steam Engine Change Our Lives Today?
The steam engine has had major impacts on society, and not just during the industrial revolution. It s
creation still affects us even today. Back then, the invention of the steam locomotive spread fast and

My Experience My Learning Experience
My Adventure to Foushee s Mill began on Saturday November 5th, 2017. I had three classmates with
me, their names were Hope, Joel, and Casey. We have been told to go to Foushee s Mill by our
Focused Inquiry professor, the week before, to take in what we experience. This was a definitely a
new experience for me being only a Freshman in college, and changed how I saw my three classmates.
This is what experienced personally on this adventure:
It was a breezy Sunday afternoon, we had all agreed to meet at 3pm near the Atria Bus stop, I had
made my way there from my apartment which was about five minutes away and saw no one around. I
could feel my stomach growling since I had not ate since 9am. I began walking to Canes Chicken

It was like mini waterfalls, the water was smooth sounding the rocks felt smooth, and we sat there
catch our breathe. We got up and began to walk again, it was so long of a walk we thought we were
lost, luckily a guy with a walking sticks and hiker bag passed up, we asked him Do you know where
Foushee s Mill is ? , he pointed in a direction and said if we kept walking that way we would find it.
We were almost there when a huge dam like structure was preventing up from getting around because
the water was flowing so strong one of the bridges we needed to walk on was flushed with water and
impossible to walk across. This part of the adventure was so sad because on another bridge was a
memorial plank of a dog the got hit by a train on the train tracks near by. We eventually got the idea to
just go up onto the train tracks and walk around, we then went back down, walked a few more minutes
and we were there Foushee s Mill in our eyes.
When we got there is was like nothing I ever seen before. It wasn t what I expected to see and totally
surprised me. The Mill s structure was tumbling, you could tell it was old. We climbed up and sat on
the stones, taking in our own individual perspectives. My first location I sat I was near the river, I
could see the calming water and hear the smoothing sounds. I saw geese relaxing in the water up
ahead. Looking up I could see the sky half blue and walk pink, it was the perfect spot and I loved it.

Doll House Research Papers
Dollhouses provide children with a wonderful opportunity to use their imaginations. Amazon has an
adorable array of dollhouses included Sylvanian Families houses, Fisher Price, and Calico Critters
houses and play sets. The wonderful thing about these types of toys is that they let children mimic
what they see in their own homes. They can also help children to work out things that they might not
understand through imaginative play.
The best dollhouse for your child will depend on the child s age and interests. A toddler would do well
with something simple that s designed to be a first dollhouse. It should have large, chunky pieces that
are easy for small hands to manipulate. A child that s a bit older who loves animals may love one of
the Sylvanian families homes. The sweet creatures who live in these homes are perfect for children
who are animal lovers. The child who enjoy playing with fashion dolls, may enjoy one of the
dollhouses designed to be used with fashion dolls.
Since toys such as the Sylvanian families houses are run by the child s imagination, each day that the
child plays is different from the last. This keeps children entertained and coming back to play over and
over again. Dollhouses are perfect for children to play with alone, or with siblings, or friends. ... Show

The Theories Of Management That Organizations Can Use
There are many approaches to management that organizations can use. Managerial theories are based
on historical approaches or historical theories. Many organizations use more than one approach that
may or may not be effective. Several decades ago researchers were attempting to explain the nature of
managing from six different points of view: management process, empirical approach, human
behavior, social system, decision theory, and mathematics theory.
The organization that I work for, the City of Lilburn, does not use just one approach to management.
One of the management approaches that the city uses is the social system approach. Vilfredo Pareto, a
sociologist, and Chester Barnard were the pioneers of this theory. Pareto came up with the idea that
human relationships were social systems (Koontz, 1980). His work made an impression and
influenced Chester Barnard.
Barnard, during his study, noticed executives operating in cooperative social systems that he names
organizations. Social systems are the cooperative interaction of ideas, forces, desires and thinking of
two or more people. This theory later was applied to many groups and cooperatives (Koontz, 1980).
With this approach organizations are essentially a cultural system that is composed of people who
work in cooperation in order to achieve the organizations goals. Management needs to understand the
behavior of people in the groups in order for this approach to be affective. This approach relies on the

Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade
Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially a
tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born on
February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a French art
movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles Gleyre, who also
taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Frédéric Bazille. Monet, Sisley, and
Bazille would later become some of Renoir s closest friends. Dissimilar to Monet and Sisley, Renoir
always retained a fondness for the studio and for creating classic portraitures in the manner of the
French masters he truly respected, who lived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the man only has little pieces of sunlight streaming down on him. Dissimilar to the man,
however, the path is well lit and illuminated by sunlight. This leads our attention to the path that the
man enjoins the woman to follow. This playful contrast between well illuminated subjects, and poorly
lit subjects is enhanced further by the shade covering the man s face, and the almost cartoonish
depiction of his face. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits on his capability to
extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that were not generally painted by
fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was associated with the world of fine art.
From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his personal practices and conduct, it is
sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of yielding to common social standards. The
span of different various social and artistic viewpoints that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be
stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir died on December 3, 1919. He lived to see the post
impressionism era, fauvism and expressionism, cubism, and more. Even when

Isotope Anomalies Across The Frasnian Famennian Extinction...
Isotope anomalies across the Frasnian Famennian extinction boundary:
Implications for resolving Late Devonian mysteries
Abstract
The cause of the Late Devonian mass extinction near the Frasnian Famennian boundary remains
uncertain. Anomalies of stable isotope values have been observed at the Frasnian Famennian boundary
commonly, indicating the abrupt changes of environments during the crisis. These changes include
marine anoxia possibly triggered by land plant evolutions, global cooling, and global warming
probably induced by multiple bolide impacts. In this study, the variations of isotope compositions are
summarized to investigate the possible major causes of F F mass extinction.
Introduction
The transition from the Frasnian to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Verzer and others (1998) complied 87Sr/86Sr values during the Devonian. They found that the values
increased from the end of Middle Devonian to Famennian, and a spike of 87Sr/86Sr occurred around
the Frasnian Famennian boundary (Figure 1). Heavy strontium isotope (87Sr) commonly occurs in
continental rocks (Hurley, 1968). Thus, maximum values at the boundary indicate higher intensity of
continental weathering and enhanced delivery of terrestrial influx into marine.
Increased terrestrial influx could have served as nutrients for algae and plankton and stimulated high
bioproductivity at surface water. The oxygen in surface water would have been over consumed by
respiration and decaying of marine organisms, which was thought to trigger marine anoxia (Algeo et
al., 1995). In this process, lighter isotope of carbon was preferentially taken up by aquatic organisms
and therefore removed from the system, producing heavy carbon anomalies (Wang et al., 1996).
Consequently, positive excursions in δ13C values were observed across the F F boundary (Figure 2).
In addition, higher bioproductivity would bring about elevated burial rate of organic carbon (Wang et
al., 1996; Chen et al., 2002)
As reported by Wang and others (1996), the positive δ13C excursions coincide with positive shifts of
δ34S around the F F boundary (Figure 2), providing direct evidence for

Taking a Look at Child Labor
Introduction
Child labor is often referred to the employment that neglects a child s childhood and the potential in
attending any schools. Children who are forced to work at a young age may also experience negative
effects such as health problems that will ultimately impact their overall growth. Generally, child labor
is closely classified as a rural phenomenon because of the significant amount of impoverished families
that send their children to work in both rural and urban areas. In rural areas, child labor in agriculture
rank among the highest. In urban areas, child trafficking, prostitution, and drug trafficking is the most
popular form of child labor. Moreover this process is extremely common for poor families because of
the need for extra income to survive. Children from all over the world are suffering from physical,
mental, and sexual disorders that transpires from child labor. In modern developed countries like the
United States, laws are passed to eliminate child labor, but there are still many cases of children
trafficking prior to the topic of child labor. However, child labor usually resides in the impoverished
countries due to the low socioeconomic status and their culture. According to International Labour
Organization (ILO), statistics shows that 246 million children are working at a young age (Lancet
2003. 32). Impoverished countries such as India, and Ghana are known to exploit children to work due
to extreme poverty. Child labor is an ongoing

Negative Effects Of Media On Millennials
Media s Negative Impact On Millennials
Media is now the dominant source of information and entertainment in the world. People use it as a
major part of their lives, but little do they know how much it impacts them, especially millennials.
According to the Pew Research Center (2017), Today around seven in ten Americans use social media
to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves.
Today s media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental health.
Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve thousand
acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault. Several studies
show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 9). Media is also
becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of marriage as common and
seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. Studies show how susceptible teens are to media s influence
on sexual behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 12 13). Drugs are promoted by the media to today s audience as
well. Celebrities are often seen and imitated by millennials as role models; but news and media often
highlight the negative things that they do, portraying sex, drugs, and other addictions as normative
(Mondal, n.d., para. 6). Also, several alcohol and tobacco companies make advertisements telling the
viewer that taking such products is are considered cool (PMC,

Beauty Of A Girl With Doves
Beauty Among Death in Gravestone of a Girl with Doves The High Classical Greek Period is
considered to be the Golden Age in Greek Art according to Art Historians (Pearson). This period from
450 400 BCE held a lot of destruction because of the wars going between the Athens and Sparta,
known as the Peloponnesian War, however, there was also a lot of beauty during this period because
sculptures and architects made art that depicted victory over wars won, such as the Parthenon. Despite
all the madness happening during this high classical period, a peaceful piece of art was born.

Since this sculpture is a gravestone, I felt that the sculptor made this gravestone with a gradient effect
with the low/high reliefs in order to signify that the young girl was fading away into death. A peplos,
which is a typical garment seen on specifically women in Greek art, hangs over her shoulders and
seems to create a dragging down feeling to the sculpture since peplos is heavy fabric. The peplos also
accentuates her body without actually revealing much of anything, which was appropriate considering
the time period, the age of the girl depicted, and the purpose that the sculpture served as, which is as a
gravestone. There is no movement whatsoever, but there does seem to be a subtle vertical line running
through the young girl s contropossto stature.
An expression is worth a thousand words. The young girl depicted shows no emotion, which is a
typical characteristic in the classical greek style. It looks as though the girl depicted has her mind
somewhere else, which actually creates a sense of peacefulness since her expression is not one of pain
or discomfort . Unlike most Greek sculptures that are massive in size, this sculpture is smaller because
it depicts the death of a small child. According to the description besides this sculpture, the doves that
the girl is holding represent her innocence of childhood. They can also represent the kind of person

Return on Marketing Investment
Return On Marketing Investment: An attempt to calculate ROMI
Overview
Performance measures have been used to assess the success of organisations. The modern accounting
framework dates back to the middle ages and since that time assessment of performance has
predominantly been based on financial criteria (Burns, 1998). Double entry accounting systems were
developed to avoid disputes and settle transactions between traders (Johnson, 1983). By the start of the
twentieth century the nature of organisations had evolved and ownership and management were
increasingly separated. As a result, measures of return on investment were applied so that owners
could monitor the performance that managers were achieving (Johnson, 1983). Since that time ...

Some companies are also appointing marketing controllers to review budget items and expenses.
Increasingly, these controllers are using business intelligence software to create digital versions of
marketing dashboards that aggregate data from disparate internal and external sources (Online
Citeman network).
Literature Review: Marketing must ensure that finance doesn t view it as a discretionary expense, but
as a value driver, or an investment. That makes it harder for budget changes to be justified. It is
uncommon for the marketing budgets to be seen as a growth driver. Marketing departments need to
prove that they have to prove that the money that they spend is logically utilised and obtains ROI
(Steering group, CIM. 2001). At times of economic disturbances it becomes important for all the
departments to be accountable for the expenses that they do. This introduces the need for
measurement, as without measurement it is impossible to be accountable. For firms to measure the
return on marketing, it is essential for them to treat marketing expenditures as an investment Schultz
amp; Gronstedt, 1997. Traditionally many firms have viewed marketing as a short term expense (Rust,
Lemon, amp; Zeithaml, 2004) to be indulged when finances are plentiful, and cut in times of hardship.
This led top managers to constantly evaluate their strategic marketing initiatives (Roland et al, 2004).
However, only through treating marketing

Thomas Green Case Questions On Business Relations
Thomas Green Case Questions
Question 1 Thomas Green is a creative and ambitious executive with impeccable marketing skills. He
is a go getter who goes out of his way to meet potential clients and pitch ideas on how to improve
business relations between airlines, hotels and taxi services. His work styles involve an adept and
calculated approach to marketing that is pegged on increasing customer satisfaction and amassing a
high clientele (Sasser, 2011). He is also revolutionary and change oriented. On the other hand, Frank
Davis is an experienced marketing strategist who is quite rigid to change. Being in the business for 20
years, Frank possesses the necessary experience and expertise to land clients. However, he adopts an
authoritarian form of leadership that entails imposing of ideas on his subordinates (Sasser, 2011). He
seeks to tell his subordinates what to do and expects them to follow without question.
Question 2 Thomas Green seeks to challenge authority whenever he feels that his bosses are on the
wrong or are taking an unfavorable approach in business. He is quick to challenge his boss in public

The Stonewall Rebellion Or Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Rebellion or Stonewall Riots was a series of violent riots that took place between gay
and trans activists, drag queens, and other patrons of The Stonewall Inn against the police after a raid
had been carried out by the Sixth Precinct police. The days and rebellions that followed are
monumental moments in LGBT and World history.
For New York s gay and trans communities the 1960 s marks a turning point in their history; Sodomy
had been reduced to a misdemeanour, with a maximum sentence of six months in prison, the anti gay

Who would famously claim that the P. stood for Pay it No Mind .
The Stonewall Inn had been registered as a private Bottle Bar which meant patrons were expected to
bring their own liquor. The Genovese Family would often bribe the Sixth Precinct to turn a blind eye
to the activities occurring in inn. However, in the early hours of June 28th 1969 and readied with a
warrant for storing and selling liquor without a licence; the police prepared to raid The Stonewall Inn.
The raid began just after 3a.m, and the police found the illegal liquor and began arresting employees

Discrimination Against Women In School Sports

that women are under represented in school sports and in the professional arena. One of the statistics
given was by Mayor Eric Garcetti and he said that women s professional teams make zero dollars per
event compared to men s professional teams making $260,000. And, the reason is because Title 9 does
not apply to NWA because it is a non profit. For me this statement was not surprising but, I would
have thought that there would be some types of laws and regulations against this type of
discrimination. Moreover, Mayor Garcetti, has increased the number of women in high level positions

Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music
Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music
Music has always been very important to religion, and the music has always been changing. At the
beginning, the music told a story of a biblical event. The current day music tells a story about life and
how Jesus Christ can fix the problem because he is all powerful. Oratorio is one example of older
religion music. The current type of religion music is called Contemporary Christian music. There is a
lot of different types between these two. Oratorio and Contemporary music differs a lot; however, they
both speak about the perfect Jesus Christ, but that is about all they have in commons. Oratorio music
was very sacred music in its time. It was very sacred; however, it was not played during church. They
were played more for concerts. Oratorio had three different parts that was in every piece. Those three
parts would consist of a choir, soloist, and orchestra. Every piece comes from a biblical story. The
most famous composer from the Baroque ere, the era that oratorio was played, was George Frideric
Handel. A few of his most famous pieces came from the subjects, Israel in Egypt, Jephtha, Judas, Saul,
and Messiah (Baily 169). Contemporary Christian music is the complete opposite of Oratorio music.
Contemporary music consist of stories about having a relationship with Jesus Christ, biblical
inerrancy, and spreading Gods holy word. They take the form of hard rock, dance pop, and hip hop
(Lindenbaum 70). Femi Adedeji wrote a paper

Disadvantages Of Digital Watermarking
1.1 Overview
In recent years, the applications about multimedia have been developed rapidly. Digital media brings
about conveniences to the people, because it is easy to be processed. At the same time, it enables the
illegal attackers to attack the works. For the protection of data there has been growing interest in
developing effective techniques to discourage the unauthorized duplication of digital data. Digital
watermarking is the process of embedding information into a digital signal in a way that is difficult to
remove. Protection of digital multimedia content has become an increasingly important issue for
content owner and service providers. Watermarking is identified as a major means to achieve
copyright protection.
Due to the rapid and extensive growth of electronic publishing industry, data can now be distributed
much faster and easier. Unfortunately, engineers still see technical challenges in discouraging
unauthorized copying and distributing of electronic documents. Digital Watermarking represents an

Sophisticated watermark embedding is a potential method to discourage unauthorized copying or
attest the origin of the images. One approach used to address this problem is to add a visible or

watermarks. Digital watermark is a kind of technology that embeds copyright information into
multimedia data. Each watermark method consists of an embedding algorithm and an extracting
algorithm. The embedding algorithm inserts the watermark information in the data and the extracting
algorithm decodes the watermark information. Some methods extract the whole watermark
information(decoder) and others determine only its existence(detector), the detection process decides

The Anaylitical Approach to John Donne s The Apparition
John Donne was to most, considered a metaphysical poet, or a poet who finds their inspiration on
expressing the world not as it would be universally revealed but in the world as science and
philosophy account it. The poem The Apparition lacks many of the general characteristics that
distinguish metaphysical poetry but continues to be classified as a metaphysical representation
(Norton, 1). The Apparition contains at least three transformations of feeling. The manifestation
success of this relationship gives the speaker so much pleasure that he revokes the suggestion he
suggested in the beginning, the idea of threatening his lover into more agreeable behavior because he
believes he would enjoy her chastisement more than her reformation. ... Show more content on

This warning is that she will be transformed into a ghost by fear, just as he was by love and rejection.
His wish for her is that she will begin to realize her thread of life is torn, loose, and irrelevant. Even

become a shadow waiting for her spirit. He was neglected and his hope is for her to feel this pain.
The culminating point of the speaker s resentment comes within the last four lines of the stanza, and
this is where we see the true intentions of the speaker. What I will say I will not tell thee now, / Lest

The argument that pizza is an indulgence food is rendered questionable by the sheer number of
consumers who eat pizza each year. With 77% of consumers eating pizza at least once a month the
dish may be better described as a convenience food, particularly considering the ease associated with
ordering a pizza as opposed to cooking every night. The concept of an refrigerated pizza that
consumers can just stick in the microwave increases this sense of simplicity, and the steady growth of
the refrigerated pizza industry speaks to the motivation being one of convenience rather than enjoying
a special treat. As long as it tastes good (something TruEarth has experience in accomplishing), and as
long as low carb can be stamped across the packaging, there is a high likelihood that a new, healthy,
quality ingredient, whole grain refrigerated pizza option will do well, even without the luxury of
entering a growing market, as was the case with TruEarth s fresh pastas. Lastly, TruEarth is enhancing
the refrigerated pizza offering by developing a refrigerated pizza kit that maintains the sentimental

As we make our way through the twenty first century, it s hard to not be amazed when looking at how
far we have come. The world s population has put countless amounts of hours into advancing our
technology and shaping the future that we live in. When we think about the word Technology our first
thoughts are usually related to smart phones, computers and maybe cars, but I m here to tell you there
is so much more that fits into this field. In the time that we are currently living, we are progressing at
rates that we never thought we would see. We have made it to a point where technology is building
newer technology for us and taking away jobs from people. Technology isn t always a good thing, it
may be interesting but it s also scary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very true when talking about technology. But let s not get held up on the actual hardware of our
mini computers before we appreciate what we have accomplished in the software division of
technology. Software is changing and growing just as fast, if not faster than actual hardware. Software
includes anything from Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat to Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and the
Operating Systems (OS) on our computers and phones. Software is so intricate and amazing. We don t
appreciate enough the things that companies provide for us through their applications. For example,
when looking for entertainment, its always fun to go on Snapchat is use its fecal recognition feature to
apply silly filters to our face. But have you ever thought of how much technology and coding went
into creating such a crazy feature? According to PetaPixal, Snapchat s filters are the brainchild of a
Ukrainian startup called Looksery, which Snapchat acquired for a record setting $150M. At the most
basic level, the app uses computer vision to spot you based on contrast patterns typically seen in and
around a human face. But to understand how it finds features like your lip lines and eyes, we ll have to
dig a little further. To get more information like that, Snapchat trained the program by using thousands
of manually marked pictures of people s faces to show the lip line and eyes of humans faces. After
that, the program was able to generate a mesh

Oskar Schindler Was Impulsive And The Rescuer
Oskar Schindler was a businessman he owned a factory that made pots and pans in 1939. He was a
man of business that needed help. He gave over 1,000 Jews jobs. Jews were part of the money making
process for Schindler. Some may say that the idea of rescuing the Jews just developed as Oskar
watched the death of hundreds of thousands of Jew . Heroes evolve, they are not born(Ervin Staub). I
believe that Oskar was impulsive and the rescuer.
Oskar Schindler was impulsive and just acted before he thought. In the movie, that our class just
watched, Schindler had said to his factory workers that if they work for him he d keep them safe and
that they would live through the war. The Jews did not hold Schindler to his promise because they
knew that

Applications Of Magnetic Storage Data
Magnetic Storage Data In the ancient times, people used memories, wood, knots and cave paintings to
remember places, knowledge, life experience and stories. These were the only few ways to storage
information at that time and they were unreliable because people s brain could forget information
easily and other like the cave painting and wood could be eroded by nature. After the invention of the
paper making technology, people started to write information on papers. It was much easier and better
than before, but the papers were fragile they couldn t stay fresh for very long time, also thousands of
years ago only royal families and noble families had the chance to use well made papers, so papers
were also not reliable. In the twenty first centuries, people have invented a lot of different appliances
to storage knowledge and data, magnetic storage is one of the most popular and practical ways to use
for storage data. In the future of storage, the central issue is the field of information, in order to
content the needs of rapid development of the information society, it is necessary to increase the
storage capacity. Now in the world, especially in the developed countries, scientists are paying a lot of
attention on the magnetic storage technology. Magnetic storage develops faster and faster. The
invention of magnetic storage was not ordinary. Before magnetic storage, old computers used punch
cards for most of the data storage, it was invented by an American statistician called

Where the data may be inaccurate would be regarding each countries reporting policies. Specifically,
the author s are concerned regarding the integrity of the Venezuela production numbers. Current
economic and political conditions in Venezuela are causing areas of concern for the United States,
South America, also in the legitimacy in the contribution of the global price of oil. As Venezuela
obtains the largest amount of oil reserves, along with the countries high dependence on the production
of oil, on going political conditions are creating large areas of concern. With Venezuela being such a
large oil producing country, 95% of the country s revenue comes from the sale of oil. In having such a
heavy dependence, the large collapse in the production of oil, with a decline of 120,000 barrels a day
with failed infrastructure developments, unpaid shipping fees, and contaminated oil, Venezuela s
relations with major oil producing countries and OPEC is resulting in areas of concern and thus
importance. Along with placing U.S. sanctions that prohibit any American financial institution from
providing assistance to the Venezuelan government to help in economic bailout, current Venezuelan
president is constantly pursuing changes in oil price from OPEC to increase so that increased oil
prices would help pay off the millions in debt that the country owes. With Venezuela producing the

  • 2. Research Paper On Drunk Driving Madison McAlpine Mrs. Gallos English 3 21 November 2017 Driving under the influence Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances. There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16 1 20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First Amendment Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment? Facts of the Case: The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an Alabama statute that authorized teachers to lead a one minute period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer in all public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the Mobile County Public School system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been subjected to various acts of religious indoctrination, as a result of Alabama statute 16 1 20.1 and asked for an injunction prohibiting Mobile County schools from maintaining or allowing the maintenance of regular religious prayer services. The purpose of Jaffree s complaint was to prohibit the devotional services occurring in his children s school and the consequent mockery of his children that occurred when they refused to recite the prayers to Almighty God (Stevens, 40). This type of law in Alabama public schools was not the first of its kind. Prior to statute 6 11 20.1, Alabama passed law 16 1 20 authorizing one minute of silence in public schools for meditation. In many ways, the election can be seen as a backlash and conservative effort against the economic philosophies and policies of the two candidates and their parties, and on which candidate could better spur economic growth. The economy greatly affects all American lives, often without the people s direct say, but nonetheless influencing how easy it is to get a job, how quickly the prices of goods and services rise and fall in a market system, and how much money people can spend or save for the future. In the third to fourth fiscal quarters of the year 2008, a severe financial crisis began to loom over the global economy, resulting in further economic downturn for the United States. Millions of people lost their jobs, and millions more would not be able to find work thereafter. Since the United States relies so heavily on fuel from the Middle East, the U.S. is subject to the will of those quarrelsome nations in order to maintain our fuel reserve. This means that if we do not use some other form of energy, then the U.S. will fall into another energy crisis. Alternative energy is crucial to the preservation of a habital environment. According to Christine A. Erwin, doctors say that fifty thousand American deaths per year are directly connected to airborne particulate matter. About one third of this pollution comes from power plants (1). Sexual Harassment At The Workplace Part B As seen in the case study, a court decision may be one way for any company to legally define what constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace, but there are many ways to define sexual harassment. Everyone has different views and tolerance levels towards sexual harassment. When a case of sexual harassment occurs in a workplace, however, it comes down to how the courts define sexual harassment. The Supreme Court defines sexual harassment to be unlawful in two ways. The first type involves sexual harassment that results in a tangible employment action; this is referred to as quid pro quo. For example, if an employee complies with the harasser s request, then she will get a raise. This unlawful act is usually presented in the workplace by a person who has an upper hand, such as a manager, to ensure that s/he will get what s/he wants. Employees are often victimized by fear that they will not get promoted or that they will get fired. They also dread that if a complaint is filed, it will not be handled correctly. This instance of sexual harassment always involves another violation of employee rights; [sic] wrongful termination. This would occur, for instance, when a supervisor . . . tells a subordinate that . . . she must be sexually cooperative with [him] or . . . she will be fired, and who then indeed does fire the subordinate for not submitting ( U.S. Supreme Court Defines ). A toddler would do well with something simple that s designed to be a first dollhouse. It should have large, chunky pieces that are easy for small hands to manipulate. A child that s a bit older who loves animals may love one of the Sylvanian families homes. The sweet creatures who live in these homes are perfect for children who are animal lovers. The child who enjoy playing with fashion dolls, may enjoy one of the dollhouses designed to be used with fashion dolls. Since toys such as the Sylvanian families houses are run by the child s imagination, each day that the child plays is different from the last. • 25. The Theories Of Management That Organizations Can Use There are many approaches to management that organizations can use. Managerial theories are based on historical approaches or historical theories. Many organizations use more than one approach that may or may not be effective. Several decades ago researchers were attempting to explain the nature of managing from six different points of view: management process, empirical approach, human behavior, social system, decision theory, and mathematics theory. The organization that I work for, the City of Lilburn, does not use just one approach to management. One of the management approaches that the city uses is the social system approach. Vilfredo Pareto, a sociologist, and Chester Barnard were the pioneers of this theory. Pareto came up with the idea that human relationships were social systems (Koontz, 1980). His work made an impression and influenced Chester Barnard. Barnard, during his study, noticed executives operating in cooperative social systems that he names organizations. Social systems are the cooperative interaction of ideas, forces, desires and thinking of two or more people. This theory later was applied to many groups and cooperatives (Koontz, 1980). With this approach organizations are essentially a cultural system that is composed of people who work in cooperation in order to achieve the organizations goals. Management needs to understand the behavior of people in the groups in order for this approach to be affective. This approach relies on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who Is Pierre Auguste Renoir La Promenade Although La Promenade was not the title given to this painting by Renoir, this painting is partially a tribute to previous artists whom Renoir tremendously esteemed. Pierre Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841 in France. Renoir lived during the Impressionist movement, which was a French art movement from the 1850 s till around 1900. He studied under a man named Charles Gleyre, who also taught skillful painters such as Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Frédéric Bazille. Renoir acknowledged no rules, and did not set limits on his capability to extemporize. Renoir s work was a paradox. While he painted scenes that were not generally painted by fine artists such as himself, he employed oil painting, which was associated with the world of fine art. From the statements about Renoir that did survive about his personal practices and conduct, it is sufficiently shown that he resolvedly rejected the idea of yielding to common social standards. The span of different various social and artistic viewpoints that Renoir embraced affirms his rejection to be stereotyped. Unfortunately, Pierre Auguste Renoir died on December 3, 1919. Isotope anomalies across the Frasnian Famennian extinction boundary: Implications for resolving Late Devonian mysteries Abstract The cause of the Late Devonian mass extinction near the Frasnian Famennian boundary remains uncertain. Anomalies of stable isotope values have been observed at the Frasnian Famennian boundary commonly, indicating the abrupt changes of environments during the crisis. These changes include marine anoxia possibly triggered by land plant evolutions, global cooling, and global warming probably induced by multiple bolide impacts. In this study, the variations of isotope compositions are summarized to investigate the possible major causes of F F mass extinction. Introduction The transition from the Frasnian to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Verzer and others (1998) complied 87Sr/86Sr values during the Devonian. They found that the values increased from the end of Middle Devonian to Famennian, and a spike of 87Sr/86Sr occurred around the Frasnian Famennian boundary (Figure 1). Heavy strontium isotope (87Sr) commonly occurs in continental rocks (Hurley, 1968). Thus, maximum values at the boundary indicate higher intensity of continental weathering and enhanced delivery of terrestrial influx into marine. Increased terrestrial influx could have served as nutrients for algae and plankton and stimulated high bioproductivity at surface water. The oxygen in surface water would have been over consumed by respiration and decaying of marine organisms, which was thought to trigger marine anoxia (Algeo et al., 1995). In this process, lighter isotope of carbon was preferentially taken up by aquatic organisms and therefore removed from the system, producing heavy carbon anomalies (Wang et al., 1996). Consequently, positive excursions in δ13C values were observed across the F F boundary (Figure 2). In addition, higher bioproductivity would bring about elevated burial rate of organic carbon (Wang et al., 1996; Chen et al., 2002) As reported by Wang and others (1996), the positive δ13C excursions coincide with positive shifts of δ34S around the F F boundary (Figure 2), providing direct evidence for ... Children who are forced to work at a young age may also experience negative effects such as health problems that will ultimately impact their overall growth. Generally, child labor is closely classified as a rural phenomenon because of the significant amount of impoverished families that send their children to work in both rural and urban areas. In rural areas, child labor in agriculture rank among the highest. In urban areas, child trafficking, prostitution, and drug trafficking is the most popular form of child labor. Moreover this process is extremely common for poor families because of the need for extra income to survive. Children from all over the world are suffering from physical, mental, and sexual disorders that transpires from child labor. In modern developed countries like the United States, laws are passed to eliminate child labor, but there are still many cases of children trafficking prior to the topic of child labor. However, child labor usually resides in the impoverished countries due to the low socioeconomic status and their culture. Double entry accounting systems were developed to avoid disputes and settle transactions between traders (Johnson, 1983). Literature Review: Marketing must ensure that finance doesn t view it as a discretionary expense, but as a value driver, or an investment. That makes it harder for budget changes to be justified. It is uncommon for the marketing budgets to be seen as a growth driver. Marketing departments need to prove that they have to prove that the money that they spend is logically utilised and obtains ROI (Steering group, CIM. 2001). At times of economic disturbances it becomes important for all the departments to be accountable for the expenses that they do. This introduces the need for measurement, as without measurement it is impossible to be accountable. Oratorio is one example of older religion music. The current type of religion music is called Contemporary Christian music. There is a lot of different types between these two. Oratorio and Contemporary music differs a lot; however, they both speak about the perfect Jesus Christ, but that is about all they have in commons. Oratorio music was very sacred music in its time.
