Domestic Atmosphere In King Henry V
King Henry V s depiction of English nationalism amidst its battle between France showcases the
glorification of war. However, despite the play s emphasis on combat and victory, King Henry V, also
presents a strong unification of the charater s seeking or protecting for what they call home. For many
of the play s characters, the domestic sphere represents an ideal space to which they will return to or
represent though their interactions. The domestic sphere intercedes onto the battlefield providing
context as to what the characters are fighting and dying for. The play s commoners use the tavern as a
domestic sphere which is a reoccurring setting for characters like Pistol and Bardolph. It provides an
ideal atmosphere for their interactions during times of peace as the tavern also functions as the plays
comic relief for Acts II and III in the play. For example, upon entering the tavern, The Hostess makes
reference that she does not house a dozen or fourteen gentlewomen because then people would assume
the establishment as a brothel which is then interrupted with Nym unsheathing his sword (158 159).
The whole scene deals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Acts I through IV, we can see instances of Henry s motivations for starting the war with
France as matters of pride or even Manifest Destiny. However, it is in Act V that we see the fruits of
Henry s labors as the reward for his siege on France is to marry the King s daughter which fully
integrates King Henry s life into the domestic sphere. King Henry s infaution of Katherine which
starts with O fair Katharine, if you will love me soundly with your French heart, I will be glad to hear
you confess it brokenly with your English tongue provides a strange contrast to Henry s battle ready
speeches of Act IV (352 353). Shortly after King Henry s romantic advances on Katharine, the King of

Gender Codes In Advertising Have Hugely Impacted My Own
Gender codes in advertising have hugely impacted my own views and how I currently interact with
friends, families, and even strangers that I see walking around on the streets. It is pointed out by Sut
Jhally (2009) that the reason for this being, masculinity and femininity are strongly portrayed in
advertisements as two completely opposite things. In most ads, men are shown as strong human
beings with complete control of whatever problems may arise to them whereas women are shown the
complete opposite. Their bodies are usually in positions that suggest that they re being controlled by
men and are completely dependant on them not being able to face troubles that may arise (Jhally,
2009). This expectation of what masculinity is, is shown all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Advertisements not only change your perspective of others but in fact changes theirs as well towards
you. When advertisements show men, they depict them as strong, action ready, emotionless characters
that are muscular and almost like animals as shown in The Codes of Gender: Identity and Performance
in Pop Culture. This sets a standard for other men to fit into and not doing so has dire consequences.
When walking around and interacting with new people, I automatically try to fit into these criteria that
the advertisements have created to define masculinity because if I don t then I feel like they judge me
based on what ideologies they ve been brought up with, which is mostly like the same advertisements
that separates masculinity and femininity completely. I believe this has been encoded to us so
thoroughly that if you don t succumb to his categorization then you re not as approachable compared
to someone who is.
Women are also sexualized in a majority of advertisements which consequentially alters the thoughts
of men around us into having certain expectations for them. Goffman (2009) argues that women are
often shown lying down in vulnerable sexually available positions, and even biting on their lips and
pulling on their skirts in advertisements. Personally, I have seen this effect my friends because as men
they ve fallen into this trap of the ritualization of subordination women. When we re in school
together walking down the hallways they always judge

The Effects Of Overcrowding Of Emergency Departments
The Effects of Overcrowding In Emergency Departments Emergency Departments (ED) are a crucial
part of the medical field, because you can receive emergency care 24/7 and 365 days a year. EDs were
designed to provide immediate and stabilizing care to patients with medical emergencies (Derlet
Richards Kravitz, 2001). The current problem in EDs is overcrowding of patients. The cause of
overcrowded EDs is multifactorial, but the main causes are inadequate inpatient capacity, ED closures
and a shortage of staff. (Cowan Trzciak 2004). Overcrowding of EDs has lead to longer wait times,
ambulance diversions, insufficient care, medical errors, and ultimately the patient safety (Trzeciak
Rivers, 2003). The ED closures and decrease in patient beds in hospitals around the nation are the root
problem as the overcrowding we see today. From 1990 to 1999, 1128 EDs were closed; although the
ED visits had risen 14 percent (Cowan Trzciak 2004). With the growth rate being higher in more
populated areas such as California with 27 percent more visits (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). From 1981 to
1999 the number of inpatient beds decreased 39 percent (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). Both of which were
hospital cost containment initiatives, and to keep a high census (a full hospital at all times) (Trzeciak
Rivers, 2003). With the increase in patients the remaining EDs are being flooded and overwhelmed
along with the rest of the hospital.
With the large amount of patients and limited capacity of

California Heritage Language
The United States is known as the world s melting pot. However, California adopts this title to a
greater extent, as California accepts immigrants from a variety of different countries. Heritage
languages specifically have impacted the state of California as the diverse languages enable first,
second, and third generation speakers to all connect and communicate. Throughout California, there
are specific regions in which a particular language is most prevalent. Languages like Hebrew, Italian,
Armenian, Korean, and variations of Chinese are represented with their own sector in California.
These areas strengthen the ethnolinguistic vitality of these languages. Previously to this class, I was
not aware of the different dialects that were common in California. If I were to hear someone speaking
Chicano English or African American English I would unrightfully assume that they were speaking
English incorrectly. However, throughout this course I learned each of these dialects contains their
own unique rules, which make them grammatically and linguistically correct. Even though these
dialects are linguistically equal, that does not make them socially equal. Besides accented English, non
English speakers are generally judged based on their accent. This however, is linguistic profiling,
which is illegal in the United States. It is hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Big Jfk Assassination Thesis
The big Kennedy assassination was the assassination of John F. Kennedy who was the United States
President from 1961 to 1963. He was a popular, good looking, and young President which the people
of the United States favored very much. Due to that, America was very shocked as his assassination
was a huge to blow the country. America then quickly put their trust into his Vice President, Lyndon
B. Johnson, and he ended up winning the election of 1964, but he was unfortunately deemed with the
difficult task of solving the problems of the Vietnam War. The assassination of him happened in
Dallas, Texas while he was in an open limousine. Kennedy and his crew arrived an hour before he was

transferring Oswald to a more secure county jail, he was shot by Jack Ruby who owned several
clubs/dance halls in Dallas. He was immediately detained, and he said that he only did it because,
Oswald had killed Kennedy, but he was still charged with murder, even though some called him a
hero. A day before Oswald was killed (Nov.23, 1963), Kennedy s casket was placed in the East Room

Cesar Chavez Elegy
Great people are what make this world a better place just like these people I am going to write about.
Elegy on the death of Cesar Chavez by Rudolfo Anaya is an elegy that is about when Cesar s death
and what the people did after his death. Another story is an informational text called Flesh and blood
so cheap by Albert Marrin is about a fire that took many people s lives and what they did during the
fire. Both of these people made a big impact however I think Cesar Chavez made the bigger impact
because he didn t just bring attention to the problem he did something to fix I think the people in the
triangle fire made a lesser difference in the world because they didn t do as much a Cesar Chavez did
but the world wouldn t be the same without them. One reason I think they did a good thing for the
world is, Onlookers saw many dreadful sights, none so more than the end of a love affair. [Marrin,13]
This shows that the people watching might of said something to fix the problem. Another quote is,
Those who reached the ninth floor stairway door found it locked. [Marrin,7] This shows that if this
book was published back then someone would complain to give workers better rights. To conclude
this paragraph i think these people did a good thing for society. ... Show more content on

During the summer of 2015, websites such as Time, People, Money and Real Simple will have

`` The Circle `` By Dave Eggers
Transparency is key in The Circle. Without it, no one can even attempt to know everything. To be
transparent, one must allow others to see everything, to know everything. The Circle makes sure its
employees know this to be fact, and it ensures that it is implemented. The Circle puts up a front that
transparency equates to freedom, when in reality it is the opposite. The programs endorsed by the
Circle are incredibly restricting and promote total openness, going so far as to say that secrets are lies
and privacy is theft (Eggers 305). Dave Eggers s The Circle shows that complete transparency in all
aspects of life is dangerous because with it people lose basic human rights such as privacy and
freedom to be themselves.

Comparing John Stuart Mill s The Subjection of Women and...
Comparing John Stuart Mill s The Subjection of Women and Florence Nightingale s Cassandra
For thousands of years, women have struggled under the domination of men. In a great many societies
around the world, men hold the power and women have to fight for their roles as equals in these
patriarchal societies. Florence Nightingale wrote about such a society in her piece, Cassandra, and
John Stuart Mill wrote further on the subject in his essay The Subjection of Women. These two pieces
explore the same basic idea, but there are differences as well. While they both recognize its presence,
Mill blames the subjection of women on custom, and Nightingale blames it on society. These appear
to be different arguments, but they may be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He feels that because women have been in this position for so many years, it would feel irregular to
deviate from it. The subjection of women to men being a universal custom, any departure from it quite
naturally appears unnatural (Mill 1157). As he continues, he reveals his thoughts on the matter to the
reader: this relic of the past is discordant with the future, and must necessarily disappear (Mill 1159).
Mill explores many aspects of the issue. He attempts to uncover the differences between the sexes to
provide maybe another solution to the problem, but to no avail, nothing final can be known (Mill
1162); nothing is as strongly stated as when he places the blame on custom. Later in his essay, while
exploring the systems of past societies, he comes to the same conclusion as earlier. Only this time, he
states that there has been some improvement in the system as time went by; however, equality has not
yet been reached. He believes that the small increase in power over time is enough to suggest that
equality is the solution: Through all...human history, the condition of women has been approaching
nearer to equality with men. This does not itself prove that the assimilation must go on to complete
equality; but it assuredly affords some presumption that such is the case (Mill 1160). This quote is yet
another contribution to the blame of custom. In the past, societies lacked equality

The Hebrews Are A Covenant Oriented Demographic
The Hebrews are a Covenant oriented demographic. Their holy book is the Torah and as defined by
God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly,
Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the
Hebrews And God to these Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the
Hebrews from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life and resound
on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants can provide a peace of mind for
those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound
person. The six Covenants define Hebrew law and give a basis for how the current population of
Jewish people follows and practice their religion. The first Covenant is the Abrahamic covenant this is
defined in Genesis chapters 12 through 13. In Genesis 12 and 15, God grants Abraham land and
descendants. This Covenant states that to make of Abraham a great nation and bless Abraham and
make his name great so that he will be a blessing, to bless those who bless him and curse him who
curses him and all peoples on earth would be blessed through Abraham. To give Abraham s
descendants all the land from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, this is now known as Israel. To make

Climbing a Tree in A White Heron by Jewett Essay examples
Ever since the first person to climb Everest, many courageous people have been climbing, mountains,
cliffs, and canons. This one special little girl decides to climb a humble tree creating a new journey for
both the girl and the tree. In the passage The White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett the little girl climb a
magnificent tree. The author uses languages and selection of details to make the climbing of the tree
into a dramatic adventure. The little girl is Sylvia and she is insignificant to the tree. The author made
Sylvia into a Hero through the climbing of the tree. First the author talks about the call to adventure.

would really begin. The author gives many examples that show the initiation and the road of trials of
Sylvia climbing the tree. One example is, ?a bird fluttered off its nest, and a red squirrel ran to and fro
and scolded pettishly at the harmless housebreaker.? The author uses the word housebreaker as Sylvia
saying that she is invading the animals that live on the tree and the animal think that she is an enemy.
The author also uses simile to make the tree alive. The author wrote, ?The sharp dry twigs caught and
held her and scratched her like angry talons.? The author compares the tree to a talon. The author?s
language greatly compares Sylvia and the tree that make this story a dramatic adventure. The passage
says that Sylvia has thin little fingers clumsy and stiff compares to the tree?s great stem. Sylvia did not

Moral Panics Essay
Question #1 Moral panics is something that the society will always experience. From back in history
to now, there are different cases of moral panics. Most of these panics affect and target individuals on
a daily basis. Rainbow parties, teen sex bracelets, and even bullying has become a huge moral panic
for the society now. Bullying have always existed, however, the method and seriousness of bullying
has increased dramatically over time. Cyberbullying is one of the most troubling and disruptive crimes
of our society now. The advancement of technology has definitely enforced a huge impact on
cyberbullying. The internet and its easy access has made it exceptionally easy to target people,
especially juveniles, throughout the day at any given time. Many popular social networking sites such
as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is where a lot of bullying happens to take place. I definitely
understand why this has become such an enormous moral panic because of the negative influences it
has on young people or juveniles. The internet makes it apparent and easy to judge others by the way
someone looks, dress, or act. Even though this is a country of freedom, liberty, and equality, people
still are inclined to judge others and critique them harshly. This cause juveniles to develop a mere
sense of conscience, low self esteem, and a high need for approval or acceptance. First, what is the
actual definition of bullying? Cyberbullying involves bullying

Lord Of The Rings Obsession Essay
The Lord of the Rings
I have chosen to write about my all time biggest obsession, The Lord of The Rings. I will focus on the
author, J.R.R Tolkien, the difference between the films and the novels, and the discussion regarding
the lack of women in this story. I will also concentrate on one specific character, an elf named Arwen,
and her role, as she has been accused of being of excess.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, otherwise known as J.R.R Tolkien was an amazing writer. You could even
say that he was a legend. He has written quite a lot of fiction throughout his life. The Lord of the
Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion, these are just a fraction of what he has made. He has also

Stories of this genre often include the usual good versus evil theme. Another recurring theme is magic,
which you can recognize in Tolkien s work; Gandalf and Saruman are both wizards. Tolkien also
created his own mythical creatures such as the orcs and the hobbits.
The Lord of the Rings is the most sold novel ever, with approximately 150 million copies sold
worldwide since its release. The most peculiar thing about it all is that this novel was only intended to
be a short sequel to The Hobbit. Still, Tolkien somehow managed to write a whole trilogy. A lot of
work has been put into the writing of these novels, as more or less every character has its own
background story as well.
The Lord of the Rings is a story about Frodo Baggins, who is destined to destroy the one ring, forged
by the evil Sauron, and to regain peace in Middle Earth. During his quest, he learns a lot about his
own strength, and friendship in general. There is a lot of parallel action, as there are several major
characters. Aragorn has to take back his rightful place as king, while Merry and Pippin have to face

literature has been created based off of the creature in Dracula for example the novel Twilight and as
time goes on literature has tweaked some of the vampire s traits, powers and weaknesses. Dracula is a

Heidelberger gives the illusion that Dracula in fact looks undead meaning decaying. These
characteristics are widely know, just like the powers of a vampire. Stoker s novel Dracula also
outlined the supernatural powers that a vampire possesses. Van Helsing states, He can, within his
range, direct the elements: the storm, the fog, the thunder; he can command all the meaner things: the
rat, and the owl, and the bat the moth, and the fox, the wolf (Stoker 237). Van Helsing, the vampire
expert in the novel tells some key powers that the vampire Dracula has which is the ability to control
weather and the ability to command animals such as: rats, owls, bats, moths, foxes and wolves. When
Van Helsing is talking about Dracula s powers he also says, he can grow and become small; and he
can at times vanish and come unknown (237). These powers are shapeshifting and teleportation.
Shapeshifting is the ability to change into whatever shape and size that the person who obtain this
power wants to, and teleportation is the ability to teleport from place to place. In Allan Johnson s
article Modernity and Anxiety in Bram Stoker s Dracula he says, While Dracula can transform into
mist and summon bloodthirsty wolves, these powers prove to be poorly matched against the new
technologies and conveniences of everyday life in England (Johnson 5). Johnson is saying how even

Leibniz, Spatiotemporal Continuity and the Case of the Prince and the Cobbler
Leibniz uses the concept of spatiotemporal continuity to argue that if a person is the same, they will be
numerically identical, and have the same body as before. It is the only way to count people as people,
because people can change their minds, but not their bodies, as it is impossible to track the direction of
a person s mind. In the example of the Prince and the Cobbler, the Prince and the Cobbler switch
bodies, but that does not mean that the Prince is any less worthy of being a Prince, and the Cobbler is
still a Cobbler by the definition of spatiotemporal continuity.

Marx s The Capitalist System
Marx believed that the capitalist system causes the world s wealth to be concentrated in the hands of
the greedy few, inflicting an even bigger gap between the rich and the working class. Needless to say
there is always going to be never ending tensions between these two classes, especially since our
society has been split between the 99% of the working class and the 1% of the privileged people
getting richer every single day. When there are no principles of order and no boundaries of rules, the
free market is able to produce more than what the capitalist can sell. However, when too much of one
product is made, the value and the demand of the product decreases, showing red flags of what Marx s
calls a period of overproduction. It concludes that the supply is greater than the demand, creating a
cost instead of a profit for the capitalist since that have to sell what they overproduced. Regardless of
this, it is important to know that overproduction isn t seen as a problem for the rest world unless they
are the owners of the means of production the capitalist class because it only matters in the concept of
profit. The reason behind it as described earlier is if too much was produced and the demand isn t as
high, profit would decrease due to the unbalance of the equation. It makes more sense in Marx s words
which he states, So long as the most urgent needs of a large part of society are not satisfied, or only
the most immediate needs are satisfied, there can of course be

essays specifically.
I ve come to find that my writing has progressed from very emotionally filled with lots of fluff, to
very informative with lots of evidence to back up what I ve said. As I m going into Political Science,
feeling does have a part to play, but what you say doesn t mean anything if you can t back it up. So it
really depends on what kind of writing you re doing, whether it be a research paper, biography, or a
newspaper column. Although, I do feel that my writing is taking the turn it needs to for the profession
I m wanting to pursue. It may not be what was wanted in this class or what seems interesting to most,
but it is exactly what I need for my future. So in that way, my writing has progressed. These two

Electroniccircuits are then used to represent Boolean operations. Since almost all of mathematics can
be reduced to Boolean operations, a sufficiently fast electronic computer is capable of sloving almost
any mathematical problems (and the majority of information processing problems that can be
translated into mathematical ones). This basic idea, which made modern digital computers possible,
was formally identified and explored by Claude E. Shannon.
Computers cannot solve all mathematical problems. Alan Turing identified which problems could and
could not be solved by computers, and in doing so founded theoretical computer science.
When the computer is finished calculating the problem, the result must be displayed to the user as
output through output devices like light bulbs, LEDs, monitors, beamers and printers.
Novice users, especially children, often have difficulty understanding the important idea that the
computer is only a machine, and cannot think or understand the words it displays. The computer is
simply performing a mechanical lookup on preprogrammed tables of lines and colors, which are then
translated into arbitrary patterns of light by the output device. It is the human brain which recognizes
that those patterns form letters and numbers, and attaches meaning to them. All that existing
computers do is manipulate electrons that are logically equivalent to ones and zeroes; there are no
known ways to

Chinese Speakers Should Not Be Denounced
This western name adaption of Chinese speakers should not be denounced as simple nicknames due to
the fact that they are not only used between close acquaintances, but also professionally. Although not
used in legal documentation, these western names serve as a dual identity for a majority of Chinese
speakers, an alias if you will. This practice can be observed more in the Cantonese speaking Hong
Kong, however it is not an exclusive practice. Mandarin speaking Mainland China and Taiwan are
also known for this western name adaption practice. Not only are Chinese speakers adapting western
names, but by using such aliases they are also borrowing the Western interpersonal communication
system, which ultimately differs from the Chinese one governed by Confucius. The traditional
Chinese rituals and rules of social interaction do not favor the use of our given names with non
acquaintances. Our Chinese given names tend to be used only with intimate others, Li explains. Li s
1997 research paper further explains, Addressing a person with his/her Chinese given name, apart
from showing intimate relations, also often signifies a downward communication. (Li 1997) This new
identity turns out to come of use when associating with both new acquaintances and old
acquaintances. It helps smooth out the process of getting acquainted something that is crucial in
various professions, whether it is for business or public relations. Any profession inevitably benefits

What Is The Effect Of The Cuban Missile Crisis
What happens when two powerful countries clash with each other? Usually in history one country
rises, while the other country falls. However, in this event in history it s different. Two completely
different people with different views on government can come to a common ground agreement. Not
everything leads to war.
The U.S. and the Soviet Union leaders engaged into a political and military stand off for thirteen days.
There was a fear that this would lead to a nuclear war. President Kennedy announces that U.S. spy
planes, U 2, discovered Soviet missiles bases in Cuba (History.com) Cuba is 90 miles away from the
United States. These missiles were medium range missiles that were capable of striking important
cities, including Washington, D.C. During the next few days, the crisis escalated to a breaking point of
nuclear war with two dominating powerful countries.
After seizing power in the Caribbean island nation of Cuba in 1959, leftist revolutionary leader Fidel
Castro aligned himself with the Soviet Union (History.com). Under Castro leadership, Cuba had
become very dependent on the Soviets for military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout, the crisis each side struggle to see the other s motives. As an effect, of the Cuban missile
crisis a direct line between the White House and Kremlin was created called the Hotline . Additionally,
Cuba and the U.S. had a different mindset on the nuclear arms race and started taking steps towards
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. If the Cuban missile crisis didn t happen then maybe the U.S. would have
conquered Cuba. Then, Cuba would have been apart of the U.S. and there would be more land and
power available for the U.S. However, if the Cuban missile crisis wasn t stopped then a nuclear war
would have happened. Most likely, it would have been a world nuclear war between the Soviet Union

Sixth Grade Narrative
Sixth grade was possibly the worst year of my life. There were so many fights and I moved for the last
time. I never had any real friends until sixth grade because my mother moved me around so much. I
moved from place to place, got robbed a few times. My life was pretty eventful. I started sixth grade
in another school, before Reeds Brook, and I didn t fit in anywhere in my old school, so I was by
myself a lot of the time. Soon, every summer i came to see my dad, he lived in Hampden and spoiled
me with money because my mother never did. Soon I became Damaged in my mother s eyes and she
didn t seem to care nor want me anymore. At that time, I was in Maine, ready to go back, home. The
thing was that i didn t want to go home,

The Lincoln Electric Company Essay
The Lincoln Electric Company was founded in 1895 by John C. Lincoln, who then partnered with his
younger brother James in 1907. The focus of the company originally was manufacturing electric
motors, which then expanded to include battery chargers and in the early 1900 s to portable welding
machines. (Lincoln Electric, 2016) The company was founded originally on a construct of Christian
values, which may have played a role in creating the dominant culture of the corporation. (Sharplin)
This paper presents an evaluative analysis of the business case study presented by Arthur Sharplin,
with a focus on determining the overall corporate culture of Lincoln Electric categorically.
John and James Lincoln professed to be devout Christians and embodied their faith in their treatment
of their employees early on in the company. While a clear hierarchy and protection of management
control was evident in their organizational structure, they ensured that employees had regular access to
the management team both formally and informally. Management roles may have been protected and
controlled but they were seen strictly as tasks to perform just as every other employee was assigned
their tasks. In this respect the workplace was and remains designed strictly around function, no perks
exist for management that do not exist for every employee. (Sharplin) This example points to the
importance of a people oriented culture in the workplace and is almost egalitarian in nature. (Flat

The Presentation Of Conformity And Subversion Of Gothic...
Discuss the presentation of conformity and subversion of gothic archetypes
The gothic genre has been a prominent literary style throughout many eras, a popular example being
The Castle of Otranto . I have studied three texts; Emile Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights , published
in December 1847, The Selected Poems of John Keats , published in 1817 and the later The Bloody
Chamber by Angela Carter, published in 1979. They all use gothic elements in different ways to create
a variety of effects and reflect on their own personal views, Carter in particular as a post modern
writer and Keats confusion of sexuality.
The three texts I have studied all conform to the gothic genre in similar ways such as, the use of
setting (use Gothic conventions to develop setting). For example in The Eve of St Agnes the primary
setting is a medieval castle which is portrayed as being sinister and isolated, Keats describes a lowly
arched way , the adjective lowly suggests the insignificance and unimportance of the castle. The
cobwebs could further highlight the fact that the castle is old and has remained uninhabited for a
number of years suggesting an ominous presence. In addition to this, it could also suggest the
prescence of insects and spiders within the castle connoting danger and eeriness creating a spine
chilling atmosphere. Keats further makes use of the gothic setting within Madeline s bedroom
Similarly, Bronte creates a highly gothic setting in Wuthering Heights Lockwood

Blood Pressure Procedure
Getting your blood pressure taken is the first thing that nurses do when giving a check up to their
patients. When getting blood pressure checked the nurses put the arm ring, which goes around the arm
of the patient, is very uncomfortable and bulky. I have thought of a way that uses newer technology.
The supplies I will be using would be the blood pressure monitor and a piece of the heat monitor. The
piece of the heart monitor I would be using is the clamp that goes on the patient s finger. The reason I
am going to use this is because it is, seems to be, the more efficient way to make the blood pressure
monitor less uncomfortable and bulky as I had stated earlier. Sense I m not using the clamp for the
heart monitor to check the heart I need to enhance the clamper. The way I would enhance the clamper
would be to make the sensor a little more sensitive to the blood flow going through the arteries.
Instead of the blood pressure monitor going around the patients arm it would clamp on top the finger.
In order to get the proper measurement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like I stated in the paragraph before this one, one would also try to take medicines to try and get the
blood pressure back on a stable level. The list of medicines that might work are above. Some foods
that can help get high blood pressure back to normal are: peas, baked potatoes, celery, green beans,
papaya fruit, oatmeal, guava, yogurt, tomatoes, kiwis, blueberries, spinach, avocados, cantaloupe,
prunes, carrots, dandelion, salmon, skim milk, watermelon, raisins, spices, beans, dark chocolate,
beets, bananas, nuts, and oranges. The tree worst things that can rise blood pressure are: fast food,

College of Engineering University of Houston 4800 Calhoun Rd. Houston, TX 77004 RE: Proposal
Dear Dr. Salvo: The enclosed recommendation report compares green roofs and white roofs, which I
informed you of in my previous letter. The information in this report includes the cost analysis, which
examines the installation, maintenance, and replacements costs of each roof type. In addition, the
report examines the environmental impact in offsetting greenhouse gases. In the world of construction,
a white roof is a structure covering made with a top layer of highly reflective white colored paint. A
waterproof barrier and an insulation board follow the top layer. If you have any questions regarding
this matter, please contact me at snguillen@uh.edu or at (832) 466 8076. Sincerely, Saira Guillen

Immigration Policy Of 1924
Immigration is the act of coming to a country of which one is not a native to, usually for permanent
residence. The immigration policy of the united states is very extensive and complicated. The
immigration policy has been disputed by many, those who agree with it and those who do not agree
with it. I for one disagree with the immigration policy ranging from Job displacement, all the way to
the border security, even the Pathway to Citizenship. In 1924 the original priority of border control
was to prevent terrorists and terrorists weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering
the United States, but due to the influx of many illegal aliens trying to escape to a new life, border
control has changed their priorities. Border control

Reflection Of My Paintings
My paintings are a reflection of my personal experiences and my imagination. My aim to paint is not
just to master the technique but to feel and connect with the subject.
By balancing the art of memory and personal experience, I create works that narrate a story. I believe
my works are just like novels. Each painting is a different chapter from my life. These visual
compositions may not be the exact representation of the particular event but they do symbolize the
incident. I create with daily, recognizable elements, a situation in which the viewer is also a part of the
work and he is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased
position.
purpose of the work
Frida Kahlo said I paint self portraits because I m so often alone, because I am the person I know best.

them to spend a moment in front of the canvas and realize what im trying to say. Living in this world
where time is money, if I am able to make the viewer stop for a minute, I think I ve earned an
achievement. Many people do come to me asking me to explain me work because the mystery in the
work is upsetting them. The image will inspire you or haunt you. So if I m able to make the viewer
leave with an experience, I think I m happy.

Stephanie Faleski Into The Deep Analysis
Into the Deep by Stephanie Faleski is a naturalistic, oil painting showcased in a simple black frame,
which measures roughly four feet in length and three feet in width. Its frame successfully manages to
serve as an outline for the work without serving as a distraction. On either side of the painting there
are two correspondingly painted ocean scenes. It depicts two sea turtles, each surrounded by a group
of several medium sized fish around them. Each of the fish, except for the one directly behind the
main turtle which is only half visible, have four fins in view, with their dorsal fins displaying a
separation above their gills. Altogether, there are three separate types of fish, with two of them both
displaying brown stripes, and all three of them are grey in color. The main thing that distinguishes the
different types of fish are their body structures. The fish along the bottom of the ocean are smaller and
oval in shape while the ones above the primary turtle are larger in size with tail fins that are arrow ...

By making the second turtle less detailed and colorful; along with making the background water and
fish less clear and murky in coloring, Faleski successfully instills an atmospheric perspective. Gentle
blueish white lines are used to separate the squares of the secondary turtle s stomach. Its skin color is a
blueish green hue that helps to further distinguish it from the primary turtle. The one visible eye of the
second turtle is colored completely black without a separation of the pupil and iris.
Looking at this painting instills in one a feeling of an almost serious sort of serenity. With the dark
blue in the background gives the work an almost mysterious undertone, possibly portraying how life
in the ocean is an unknown and often scary ordeal for the creatures that inhabit it. The viewer is struck
with a sense of awe at the simplicity of the overall

Stocks are the smallest part of ownership of a corporation. It represents partial ownership. For
example you have a shop worth of Tk.10000. Now if you divide the ownership of the shop in 100
parts then every part will be worth of 100tk. Now each of the part is called a share/stock. Now if you
buy 10 Part/share, from that 100 part then you are partially an owner of the shop/firm/company.

  • 2. Domestic Atmosphere In King Henry V King Henry V s depiction of English nationalism amidst its battle between France showcases the glorification of war. However, despite the play s emphasis on combat and victory, King Henry V, also presents a strong unification of the charater s seeking or protecting for what they call home. For many of the play s characters, the domestic sphere represents an ideal space to which they will return to or represent though their interactions. The domestic sphere intercedes onto the battlefield providing context as to what the characters are fighting and dying for. The play s commoners use the tavern as a domestic sphere which is a reoccurring setting for characters like Pistol and Bardolph. It provides an ideal atmosphere for their interactions during times of peace as the tavern also functions as the plays comic relief for Acts II and III in the play. For example, upon entering the tavern, The Hostess makes reference that she does not house a dozen or fourteen gentlewomen because then people would assume the establishment as a brothel which is then interrupted with Nym unsheathing his sword (158 159). King Henry s infaution of Katherine which starts with O fair Katharine, if you will love me soundly with your French heart, I will be glad to hear you confess it brokenly with your English tongue provides a strange contrast to Henry s battle ready speeches of Act IV (352 353). • 3. Gender Codes In Advertising Have Hugely Impacted My Own Gender codes in advertising have hugely impacted my own views and how I currently interact with friends, families, and even strangers that I see walking around on the streets. It is pointed out by Sut Jhally (2009) that the reason for this being, masculinity and femininity are strongly portrayed in advertisements as two completely opposite things. In most ads, men are shown as strong human beings with complete control of whatever problems may arise to them whereas women are shown the complete opposite. Their bodies are usually in positions that suggest that they re being controlled by men and are completely dependant on them not being able to face troubles that may arise (Jhally, 2009). Advertisements not only change your perspective of others but in fact changes theirs as well towards you. When advertisements show men, they depict them as strong, action ready, emotionless characters that are muscular and almost like animals as shown in The Codes of Gender: Identity and Performance in Pop Culture. This sets a standard for other men to fit into and not doing so has dire consequences. When walking around and interacting with new people, I automatically try to fit into these criteria that the advertisements have created to define masculinity because if I don t then I feel like they judge me based on what ideologies they ve been brought up with, which is mostly like the same advertisements that separates masculinity and femininity completely. I believe this has been encoded to us so thoroughly that if you don t succumb to his categorization then you re not as approachable compared to someone who is. Women are also sexualized in a majority of advertisements which consequentially alters the thoughts of men around us into having certain expectations for them. Goffman (2009) argues that women are often shown lying down in vulnerable sexually available positions, and even biting on their lips and pulling on their skirts in advertisements. Personally, I have seen this effect my friends because as men they ve fallen into this trap of the ritualization of subordination women. • 4. The Effects Of Overcrowding Of Emergency Departments The Effects of Overcrowding In Emergency Departments Emergency Departments (ED) are a crucial part of the medical field, because you can receive emergency care 24/7 and 365 days a year. EDs were designed to provide immediate and stabilizing care to patients with medical emergencies (Derlet Richards Kravitz, 2001). The current problem in EDs is overcrowding of patients. The cause of overcrowded EDs is multifactorial, but the main causes are inadequate inpatient capacity, ED closures and a shortage of staff. (Cowan Trzciak 2004). Overcrowding of EDs has lead to longer wait times, ambulance diversions, insufficient care, medical errors, and ultimately the patient safety (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). The ED closures and decrease in patient beds in hospitals around the nation are the root problem as the overcrowding we see today. From 1990 to 1999, 1128 EDs were closed; although the ED visits had risen 14 percent (Cowan Trzciak 2004). With the growth rate being higher in more populated areas such as California with 27 percent more visits (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). From 1981 to 1999 the number of inpatient beds decreased 39 percent (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). Both of which were hospital cost containment initiatives, and to keep a high census (a full hospital at all times) (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). However, California adopts this title to a greater extent, as California accepts immigrants from a variety of different countries. Heritage languages specifically have impacted the state of California as the diverse languages enable first, second, and third generation speakers to all connect and communicate. Throughout California, there are specific regions in which a particular language is most prevalent. Languages like Hebrew, Italian, Armenian, Korean, and variations of Chinese are represented with their own sector in California. These areas strengthen the ethnolinguistic vitality of these languages. Previously to this class, I was not aware of the different dialects that were common in California. If I were to hear someone speaking Chicano English or African American English I would unrightfully assume that they were speaking English incorrectly. However, throughout this course I learned each of these dialects contains their own unique rules, which make them grammatically and linguistically correct. • 9. `` The Circle `` By Dave Eggers Transparency is key in The Circle. Without it, no one can even attempt to know everything. To be transparent, one must allow others to see everything, to know everything. The Circle makes sure its employees know this to be fact, and it ensures that it is implemented. The Circle puts up a front that transparency equates to freedom, when in reality it is the opposite. The programs endorsed by the Circle are incredibly restricting and promote total openness, going so far as to say that secrets are lies and privacy is theft (Eggers 305). Dave Eggers s The Circle shows that complete transparency in all aspects of life is dangerous because with it people lose basic human rights such as privacy and freedom to be themselves. Florence Nightingale wrote about such a society in her piece, Cassandra, and John Stuart Mill wrote further on the subject in his essay The Subjection of Women. As he continues, he reveals his thoughts on the matter to the reader: this relic of the past is discordant with the future, and must necessarily disappear (Mill 1159). Mill explores many aspects of the issue. He attempts to uncover the differences between the sexes to provide maybe another solution to the problem, but to no avail, nothing final can be known (Mill 1162); nothing is as strongly stated as when he places the blame on custom. Later in his essay, while exploring the systems of past societies, he comes to the same conclusion as earlier. Only this time, he states that there has been some improvement in the system as time went by; however, equality has not yet been reached. He believes that the small increase in power over time is enough to suggest that equality is the solution: Through all...human history, the condition of women has been approaching nearer to equality with men. • 18. Marx s The Capitalist System Marx believed that the capitalist system causes the world s wealth to be concentrated in the hands of the greedy few, inflicting an even bigger gap between the rich and the working class. Needless to say there is always going to be never ending tensions between these two classes, especially since our society has been split between the 99% of the working class and the 1% of the privileged people getting richer every single day. When there are no principles of order and no boundaries of rules, the free market is able to produce more than what the capitalist can sell. However, when too much of one product is made, the value and the demand of the product decreases, showing red flags of what Marx s calls a period of overproduction. It concludes that the supply is greater than the demand, creating a cost instead of a profit for the capitalist since that have to sell what they overproduced. Regardless of this, it is important to know that overproduction isn t seen as a problem for the rest world unless they are the owners of the means of production the capitalist class because it only matters in the concept of profit. The reason behind it as described earlier is if too much was produced and the demand isn t as high, profit would decrease due to the unbalance of the equation. Chinese Speakers Should Not Be Denounced This western name adaption of Chinese speakers should not be denounced as simple nicknames due to the fact that they are not only used between close acquaintances, but also professionally. Although not used in legal documentation, these western names serve as a dual identity for a majority of Chinese speakers, an alias if you will. This practice can be observed more in the Cantonese speaking Hong Kong, however it is not an exclusive practice. Mandarin speaking Mainland China and Taiwan are also known for this western name adaption practice. Not only are Chinese speakers adapting western names, but by using such aliases they are also borrowing the Western interpersonal communication system, which ultimately differs from the Chinese one governed by Confucius. The traditional Chinese rituals and rules of social interaction do not favor the use of our given names with non acquaintances. Our Chinese given names tend to be used only with intimate others, Li explains. Li s 1997 research paper further explains, Addressing a person with his/her Chinese given name, apart from showing intimate relations, also often signifies a downward communication. (Li 1997) This new identity turns out to come of use when associating with both new acquaintances and old acquaintances. It helps smooth out the process of getting acquainted something that is crucial in various professions, whether it is for business or public relations. However, in this event in history it s different. Two completely different people with different views on government can come to a common ground agreement. Not everything leads to war. The U.S. and the Soviet Union leaders engaged into a political and military stand off for thirteen days. There was a fear that this would lead to a nuclear war. President Kennedy announces that U.S. spy planes, U 2, discovered Soviet missiles bases in Cuba (History.com) Cuba is 90 miles away from the United States. These missiles were medium range missiles that were capable of striking important cities, including Washington, D.C. During the next few days, the crisis escalated to a breaking point of nuclear war with two dominating powerful countries. • 24. The Lincoln Electric Company Essay The Lincoln Electric Company was founded in 1895 by John C. Lincoln, who then partnered with his younger brother James in 1907. The focus of the company originally was manufacturing electric motors, which then expanded to include battery chargers and in the early 1900 s to portable welding machines. (Lincoln Electric, 2016) The company was founded originally on a construct of Christian values, which may have played a role in creating the dominant culture of the corporation. (Sharplin) This paper presents an evaluative analysis of the business case study presented by Arthur Sharplin, with a focus on determining the overall corporate culture of Lincoln Electric categorically. John and James Lincoln professed to be devout Christians and embodied their faith in their treatment of their employees early on in the company. While a clear hierarchy and protection of management control was evident in their organizational structure, they ensured that employees had regular access to the management team both formally and informally. Management roles may have been protected and controlled but they were seen strictly as tasks to perform just as every other employee was assigned their tasks. In this respect the workplace was and remains designed strictly around function, no perks exist for management that do not exist for every employee. (Sharplin) This example points to the importance of a people oriented culture in the workplace and is almost egalitarian in nature. (Flat World Knowledge, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Presentation Of Conformity And Subversion Of Gothic... Discuss the presentation of conformity and subversion of gothic archetypes The gothic genre has been a prominent literary style throughout many eras, a popular example being The Castle of Otranto . I have studied three texts; Emile Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights , published in December 1847, The Selected Poems of John Keats , published in 1817 and the later The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter, published in 1979. They all use gothic elements in different ways to create a variety of effects and reflect on their own personal views, Carter in particular as a post modern writer and Keats confusion of sexuality. The three texts I have studied all conform to the gothic genre in similar ways such as, the use of setting (use Gothic conventions to develop setting). For example in The Eve of St Agnes the primary setting is a medieval castle which is portrayed as being sinister and isolated, Keats describes a lowly arched way , the adjective lowly suggests the insignificance and unimportance of the castle. The cobwebs could further highlight the fact that the castle is old and has remained uninhabited for a number of years suggesting an ominous presence. In addition to this, it could also suggest the prescence of insects and spiders within the castle connoting danger and eeriness creating a spine chilling atmosphere. Keats further makes use of the gothic setting within Madeline s bedroom Similarly, Bronte creates a highly gothic setting in Wuthering Heights Lockwood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Blood Pressure Procedure Getting your blood pressure taken is the first thing that nurses do when giving a check up to their patients. When getting blood pressure checked the nurses put the arm ring, which goes around the arm of the patient, is very uncomfortable and bulky. I have thought of a way that uses newer technology. The supplies I will be using would be the blood pressure monitor and a piece of the heat monitor. The piece of the heart monitor I would be using is the clamp that goes on the patient s finger. The reason I am going to use this is because it is, seems to be, the more efficient way to make the blood pressure monitor less uncomfortable and bulky as I had stated earlier. Sense I m not using the clamp for the heart monitor to check the heart I need to enhance the clamper. The way I would enhance the clamper would be to make the sensor a little more sensitive to the blood flow going through the arteries. Instead of the blood pressure monitor going around the patients arm it would clamp on top the finger. In order to get the proper measurement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The immigration policy of the united states is very extensive and complicated. The immigration policy has been disputed by many, those who agree with it and those who do not agree with it. I for one disagree with the immigration policy ranging from Job displacement, all the way to the border security, even the Pathway to Citizenship. My aim to paint is not just to master the technique but to feel and connect with the subject. By balancing the art of memory and personal experience, I create works that narrate a story. I believe my works are just like novels. Each painting is a different chapter from my life. These visual compositions may not be the exact representation of the particular event but they do symbolize the incident. I create with daily, recognizable elements, a situation in which the viewer is also a part of the work and he is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position. purpose of the work Frida Kahlo said I paint self portraits because I m so often alone, because I am the person I know best. • 30. Stephanie Faleski Into The Deep Analysis Into the Deep by Stephanie Faleski is a naturalistic, oil painting showcased in a simple black frame, which measures roughly four feet in length and three feet in width. Its frame successfully manages to serve as an outline for the work without serving as a distraction. On either side of the painting there are two correspondingly painted ocean scenes. It depicts two sea turtles, each surrounded by a group of several medium sized fish around them. Each of the fish, except for the one directly behind the main turtle which is only half visible, have four fins in view, with their dorsal fins displaying a separation above their gills. Altogether, there are three separate types of fish, with two of them both displaying brown stripes, and all three of them are grey in color. The main thing that distinguishes the different types of fish are their body structures. The fish along the bottom of the ocean are smaller and oval in shape while the ones above the primary turtle are larger in size with tail fins that are arrow ... By making the second turtle less detailed and colorful; along with making the background water and fish less clear and murky in coloring, Faleski successfully instills an atmospheric perspective. The one visible eye of the second turtle is colored completely black without a separation of the pupil and iris. Looking at this painting instills in one a feeling of an almost serious sort of serenity. With the dark blue in the background gives the work an almost mysterious undertone, possibly portraying how life in the ocean is an unknown and often scary ordeal for the creatures that inhabit it.
