Child Observation On Human Development
Introduction
For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose
ages range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and
development to test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my
observations I watched two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were
ages eighteen to twenty. Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I
watched the children as they played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center
on campus. On this day, I watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as
they played. One of the little girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink ... Show

All the females in the group appeared to have strong memory skills. The children were able to
follow complex direction. The only male in the group seemed to struggle with memory. After, a
while of play the male became more interested in a bug in the sand. This behavior reinforces
Flavell, when he said that children s attention is more like a flash of light that focus on what it
wants (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 230). After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as
superman. Playing pretend helps children develop better social skills, self control, and they
understand the perspective of others (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). While observing group B
they performed the task of sitting around, talking, and laughing very well. The females in the
groups appeared to have strong memory skills. They could follow complex directions. On the
other hand, the males in the group seemed to have a problem with memory skills. While watching
Group B, the male with the pink T shirt started doing push up and shortly after the male with the
black shirt started to do them too. The two males within the group seems to be struggling with
imaginary audience. Imaginary Audience is the feeling that everyone is watching (Woolfolk Perry,
2015, p. 513). This was probably caused by the excusive use of the internet. In a study done by
Moreno, it was found that adolescents of color used the internet

Frederick Douglass, The Most Famous African American...
Frederick Douglass is the most famous African American abolitionists and the greatest American
orators. Throughout American history, African Americans were victims of American governmental
policies of harsh slavery. However, Frederick Douglass transforms the way people should
understand slavery. He takes charge of upholding slaveryto himself and defends the freedom for
those in slavery. While other African Americans did not have a voice, he became the voice for
African American slavery. In this way, Frederick Douglass is a mental and physical hero
because of his courage and achieving freedom from slavery through his strength of character and
education. Frederick Douglass portrays himself as a physical and mental hero through courage in
his autobiography, beginning from slavery at birth to freedom of escape. He refuses to accept
anything less than his own physical, spiritual, and intellectual freedom. Moreover, he never
hesitates to focus on his determination. According to the Litigation, one of the first acts of
courage in Douglass life is teaching other slaves to read the New Testament with over forty
people attending his classes. His master retaliates against his courage by sending him to another
owner (Mr. Covey) who has a reputation for breaking courageous slaves. At that moment during
his time with Mr. Covey, Douglass fights back because of this spirit that comes to him. That spirit
is his courage. He gains courage to impose the effects of slavery and

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Causes
Scientists and researchers have discovered a rare genetic mutation that may be in charge of Sudden
Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), or Cot Death. This mutation is said to be a protein that is involved
with the skeletal muscles associated with breathing. A research team at the University College
London (UCL) said that the protein s structure could be one of the reasons of the unexpected deaths
of infants. Sudden Infant Death Syndromecauses 2,400 infantdeaths per year in the United States
alone. Some other causes of unexpected infant death can be sleeping in the same bed as the
parents, inhaling cigarette smoke, or suffocating by lying face down, but most of the cases have no
logical explanation of how the death happened. Researchers at University

Mexican Ethnicity
Ethnic groups are made up people who share a unique social and cultural background. Society
has put in our minds that we need ethnic identifications to feel part of a certain group of people.
These feelings of belonging or attachment to a certain group of people is a normal thing for us
humans but, why can t we be more than one? Many people shame on you for identifying yourself
with one certain culture when you come from a mixed background. There are millions of people
that live here in the US but are of Mexican descent. Being a Mexican Americancan be difficult
because of all the stereotypes and discrimination, but also carries a sense of pride.
Many times people look at a person and assume they are a specific race. Newsflash people!
Mexican Americans can all come in different types of coloring. There are the typical
stereotypical remarks like, You need to be brown to be Mexican, and if you are darker skinned
then they assume you come from Mexico and are illegal. If a light skinned Mexican goes to
Mexico then they think you are gringos or American, so basically neither side will accept you
for what you truly are. People just need to accept that there are light and dark skinned people in
every ethnicity. If you are a light Mexican, people judge you for it since you fooled them. If a
person looks white but then they start speaking Spanish, others consider it as unacceptable and
assume that person must be an immigrant. Practically all Mexican laborers are of a racial

Wizard Of Oz Movie Vs Book
There s no place like home (The Wizard): one of the most memorable dialogues of The Wizard
of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming. This quote is the basis of various themes of the film.
However, this movie is but one interpretation of the original work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
by Frank Baum. The two pieces are similar and have the same general story lines, but the themes
the two were trying to depict are not as similar as one might think. At first glance, Baum s book
might be portraying the same message as the movie, but analysis of the other books in the Oz book
series is required to truly understand Baum s theories. Though Fleming s The Wizard of Ozand
Baum s The Wonderful Wizard of Ozare similar in terms of plot, Baum and Fleming... Show more

Baum, Jonathan Swift was also a satirical and progressive writer. His essay A Modest Proposal,
one of the most acclaimed pieces in satirical writing, discusses ridiculous, unrealistic solutions to
help improve economic conditions of Ireland. A concept analyzed in Swift s essay similar to
concepts in the Oz books series is Swift s anger [...] aimed at all social classes in Ireland
(Ferguson, Oliver). Being part of a class system limits people to a certain lifestyle, creating
prejudices. Swift is against the idea of restricting people to one way of living. Because the Irish
obey to the system implemented by the British, little to no action was made against the horrid
economic conditions of Ireland at the time Swift published his essay. Swift gave many
suggestions to relieve social and economic turmoil of Ireland, but none of his suggestions were
considered. The wealthy put in power by the British were prospering while the rest of the island
was in chaos. His essay not only criticizes the wealthy, but also the citizens that were conforming
to the terrible economic conditions. Swift believes the people could have done more to help their
nation if they were dauntless enough to make a difference. Baum portrayed similar themes in his
Oz books. Baum and Swift were men ahead of their time that encouraged progression and new
experiences. Baum would definitely be one to disagree with a social class system that forces a
single purpose of living onto a group of people.

Escape In Romantic Poetry
Repression and the Desire to Escape in Romantic Poetry
Romantic poetry encompasses many things, involving, but not limited to; nature, the sublime, and
strong senses of emotion. Many of the romantic poets wrote about nature, and how nature strongly
relates to that sense of emotion. Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many
negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not
only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is
required in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must
abandon your past struggles, and learn to embrace nature. This begs the question; how does
romantic poetry attempt to show that nature is the cure to the issues that you currently face? Many
of the romantic poets attempt to show that through an escape to nature, you are able to become
enlightened. William Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage exhibits a woman (Margaret) who is
surrounded by romantics, which is used to contrast that which are her struggles, and her lack of
romanticism. This essay will look at the desire to escape the struggles that the characters are
facing through a romantic escape to nature. It will display how Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage
conveys a message of escapism to nature as a cure to hardship through a character that fails to
escape, as well as how John Keats Ode to a Nightingale shows a character who succeeds with

3.LITERATURE REVIEW
In the first part, my paper will show some background of nationality which would have an impact
on management. According to Geert Hofstede (1983), there are three important areas included in
nationality, which are political, sociological and psychological aspects. First, political aspect can
be different in each country. Second, sociological aspect can be understood by the way people
think about their values base of belonging to one nation or region. Therefore, each person need to
be circumspect when they work with foreigners to avoid misunderstanding about their
identification, otherwise, that would trigger conflict between them. Third, psychological aspect
refers to the way people think, which was affected by their early life experience in their family
and later education experience. Thus, our experience become mentally programmed . According to
Hofstede (1983) the definition of culture is collective mental programming . In that program,
people in the same nation or region will share their experience, understanding to other, but they
would not share these things to people of the other region or nation. Warner (1996) also suggested
that member of nation or region or group will share similar culture, and through that culture,
standards, and perspective were made, thus, they shape the behavior of a person or a group.
Moreover, culture is enduring because it was created by learning from education, socialization, and
experience passed from

Photovoltaics in the United Kingdom
Chapter 2 Literature Review
The purpose of this chapter is to analyse previous publications and opinions of Photovoltaics in the
UK. The chapter will aim to address the issues highlighted in the objectives of this paper. This
chapter will form an essential basis for the research in which comparisons can be made.
2.1 What are Photovoltaics?
Photovoltaic energy generation is the direct conversion of sunlight into energy. It offers one of the
few ways of generating electricity in urban areas that is free of noxious emissions and noise.
Photovolaic materials, commonly known as solar cells, generate direct current electrical energy
when exposed to light. Mott Green Wall state that solar cells are constructed from certain semi
conducting materials that absorb solar radiation; electrons are displaced within the material, thus
starting a flow of current through an external connected circuit. (Mott Green Wall, 2002, p43)
Figure 1 shows the basic process of how photovoltaic panels produce electricity.
Fig 1 The Power Producing Process (Battle, 1998)
The ability to generate electricity from sunlight is a relatively new and exciting technology that
offers many new opportunities in generating green electricity. This technology is called solar
photovoltaics or more simply, PV. PV offers the ability to generate electricity in a clean, quiet and
renewable way. It makes use of the abundant energy from the sun, to generate electricity without the

Essay about The Avantages of Outsourcing
Outsourcing is a business strategy that moves through a number of functions, processes, activities
and decision responsibility from within an organization to outside providers, in order to reduce the
costs of an organization. This is done through negotiating contract agreements with a vendor who
takes on the responsibility for managing it. The decision to outsource is a major strategic most
company, since it involves weighing the potential cost savings against the consequences of a loss in
control over the products or services.

quality. Example of this customer satisfaction is an IT function is outsourced and the technician

Disadvantages of outsourcing are quality risk, quality service, language barriers, and legal
compliance and security. First of the advantages is a quality risk, quality risk is an outsourcing can
expose the companies to potential risks and legal exposure.
Secondly is a quality service. Quality service is a service that outsourcing provided to do the

their access to confidential customer data for their own gain.

What Is Discipline Essay
Do you really understand what it means to discipline someone? How do you define discipline?
Does it mean helping someone get on the right track or is it about casting judgment or punishing a
person for doing something wrong? Certainly discipline is misunderstood. In this article I want to
give you a view of disciplinethat you may not have thought of and explain how to implement it
with your team.
Observations about discipline:
Avoiding confrontation Many people don t like to discipline their employees because they view it
as a form of confrontation which may lead to conflict. Most of us try to avoid conflict and therefore

By the Greek definition, it s about helping someone use their energy efficiently to become more
effective in their job.
Discipline saves time and energy It makes more sense to take action and discipline someone than it
does to waste time and energy thinking about it.
There are five progressive stages of discipline that can be used with individuals and help a team
use its energy more effectively. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in
intensity of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or
finds a new job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an
effective team member. They are not designed to judge or punish an employee. The manager must
exercise compassion and interest in the welfare of the individual.

Optimism In Voltaire s Candide
FACT: What I found extremely fascinating in Voltaire s work is the idea that It is demonstrable
that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an end, all is
necessarily for the best end (83). This quote by the character Pangloss is one of extreme
optimism. He believes that they are living in the best world possible and everything that
happens is meant to be. This really resonates with me because I do have the belief that God has
an influence over our lives, so with that being said anything that happens good or bad God had a
reason for. The concept of faith is what plays a key role in this belief; we must have faith in God
and what path he paves for us whether we understand it or not. Sometimes he gives us obstacles
to overcome to make us stronger, while other times he may bring good fortune. It may be hard at
times to understand why God does what he does, but we must be able to take a step back and have
faith in God s plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pangloss states from the beginning that we live in the best of all possible worlds (81). Which is
seemingly the furthest thing from perfect as we continue to read. Everything that happens to
Candide after being banished from the castle is a series of events that would most likely lead
someone to believe that the world is a terrible place. Misfortune seems to follow Candide and his
optimistic view of the world. He wanders for a time to the point of starvation when he is found by
a group of men who bring him back to health, but only to place him into the hands of the Bulgar
military where he is to face even more tragedy. Even through all the abuse and torture he still
maintains this naГЇve outlook that life is the way it s supposed to be. Why would being beaten and

Sympathetic Villain In Doctor Faustus
On the Differences between the Ultimate to the Sympathetic Villain
In John Milton s Paradise Lost Satan represents the ultimate villain, a genuine representation of
the dark side. For this reason, Milton s Satan is characterized with great decisiveness, lack of
remorse whatsoever, and bold disobedience against the all mighty God. For this reason Satan
remains throughout the poem in the evil side, without the ability to make even a temporary
transfer from the dark side to the opposite heavenly side; hence Satan stays confined in the evil
realm. On the other hand, in Christopher Marlowe s play The Tragical History of the Life and
Death of Doctor Faustus , Mephistopheles character represents a kind of villain that is somewhat
easy to sympathize with. Consequently, Marlowe s Mephistopheles is capable to represent the
obvious side of evil and yet in the same time to be an advocate in favor of repentance for Doctor
Faustus. In Paradise Lost Milton portrays Satan as the adversary to God. Although Milton does not
portray God exactly as he is described in the Bible, still he portrays God as the all mighty, the
eternal, the creator of all creation, and as the ultimate representation of ... Show more content on

Faustus, his character presents certain flexibility. Accordingly his character sustains duplicity of a
fallen angel which belongs to the evil realm , while on the other hand he expresses his sincere
regret of the fact that he has been deprived the joys of heaven.
The key to seeing Faustus in this way is a particularly puzzling, initially ludicrous exchange between
Faustus and Mephistopheles. Mephistopheles gives his greatest speech, and Faustus gives one of
his bumptious and aesthetically unappreciative replies:
MEPHISTOPHELES : Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it. h ink st thou that I, who saw the face of

Last Flight by Amelia Earhart
February 9, 2017
For so much of our history as a people, we are often reminded of the many successful men that
accomplished things to make this world a better place. We are reminded about their long,
devastating journey to reach their goals and maintain their prosperity; however, not once do we
hear of their wives or female siblings. In the early 1900 s it was still presumed that this was the
role of the man. A woman from Kansas, however, rose beyond the clouds of prejudice her name
Amelia Earhart. Determined and hard working, this woman set on surpassing the limits previously
placed on women, and in her book, Last Flight, Amelia Earhart fought the many odds ... Show more

On April 8, 1931, she set the altitude record by flying 18,415 feet. On January 11, 1935, she
became the first person to fly across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland (Earhart 89 93). All
this was done during a time and place where people lossed their jobs, and the economy was bad.
Unemployment rate almost tripled between 1930 and 1933 as it jumped from 8.9 percent to 24.9
percent. Americans relied on Earhart s successes as national achievements and viewed them as
encouragement through all of the unrest of the great depression. It was a signal that while America s
economy was still weakening, the country s spirit to accomplish was still strong. It was also a
symbol that the American dream was still active and that, at least in some way, those who worked
hard would be compensated. Her accomplishments proved to the world that women were equal, and
lifted America to the center stage of civil rights.
In conclusion, the book Last Flight, by Amelia Earhart, portrayed a critical moment in American
History; traditional viewpoints were challenged, aviation became ingrained in the American culture,
and women became major players in the American Dream. Amelia Earhart s accomplishments have
jarring similarities to Valentina Tereshkova the first woman in space, orbiting the earth forty eight

The Film I Will Be Evaluating A Sprawling Two Part Sex...
The film I will be evaluating is Nymphomaniac a sprawling two part sex drama that blurs the line
between art and porn. It follows a sex addict named Joe as she s found battered in an alleyway by
an older bachelor named Seligman. In explaining how she came to be in such a condition,
flashback scenes unfold in chapters introduced by snapping witty dialogue between Joe and
Seligman. It begins with Joe throughout her teenage years, when she first begins to discover her
insatiable sexual appetite. Then through her adult life as she is pushed out of normal society. The
film whips through a wide range of topics, such as genderrole conformity, consent, and, metal
dysfunction.
To begin with Joe is a self described nymphomaniac, which is a former term for excessive sexual
desire in a woman, which may lead to promiscuous sexual behavior. Most psychologists have
argued against the use of the term for year it s an antiquated and demeaning word used to
denigrate sexual women. It is not a medical or psychiatric diagnosis. Her correct diagnosis is
hypersexuality, which can apply to anyone, is not a true mental disorder, but a symptom of a
much larger problem. I like the title and think it was a fascinating and intentional plot related
choice by Von trier, for this reason that Joe does display other issues like low self esteem,
loneliness, and, attachment avoidance. I like the title it made me think about how we use words.

Cultural Issues In The Melting Pot
It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and religious
differences of the people that make up this nation and of the surrounding nations. America since
1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people from diverse backgrounds can come
and experience freedom. Long before Israel Zangwillcoined the term Melting Pot, America has been
a safe haven for immigrants even as early as the 1600 s up until the present time. With all of the
various cultures that have come into America and continue to come, there must be an
understanding of each other and respect, without those two key things in place there will not be
peace. When you you see something totally different to you and do not understand it most
people respond in fear, fear leads to misjudgement and spreading fallacies about that which is
different from you. Their is no room for mutual respect when fear is in the way. Fear is at the
root of all racism. Just look at how in Ancient times when Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians,
Pharaoh ordered every firstborn be killed and thrown into the Nile. He worried that the Hebrews
would become too many and try to revolt. Because of his judgement many had to die. As a nation
we must move past these pre passed judgements to see the cultureand the people that made that
culture. The ultimate solution to solving conflict early on is to prevent racism and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Incorporated Circuits
ADVANTAGES OF VLSI
While we will focus on coordinated circuits in this book, the properties of incorporated circuits
what we can and can t proficiently put in an incorporated circuit to a great extent decide the
design of the whole framework. Incorporated circuits enhance framework qualities in a few basic
ways. ICs have three key points of interest over computerized circuits worked from discrete parts:
Size. Incorporated circuits are significantly littler the two transistors and wires are contracted to
micrometer sizes, contrasted with the millimeter or centimeter sizes of discrete segments. Little
size prompts focal points in speed and power utilization, since littler parts have littler parasitic
resistances, capacitances, and inductances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diminutiveness is frequently leverage in itself consider versatile TVs or handheld cell phones.
Lower control utilization. Supplanting a modest bunch of standard parts with a solitary chip
diminishes add up to control utilization. Decreasing force utilization has an expansive influence on
whatever remains of the framework: a littler, less expensive power supply can be utilized; since
less power utilization implies less warmth, a fan may never again be essential; a more
straightforward bureau with less protecting for electromagnetic protecting might be possible, as
well.
Reduced cost. Decreasing the quantity of parts, the power supply prerequisites, bureau expenses, et
cetera, will definitely diminish framework cost. The gradually expanding influence of combination
is to such an extent that the cost of a framework worked from custom ICs can be less, despite the
fact that the individual ICs cost more than the standard parts they supplant. Understanding why
coordinated circuit innovation has such significant impact on the outline of advanced frameworks
requires understanding both the innovation of IC fabricating and the financial aspects of ICs and
computerized frameworks.

The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model
The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus
Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a
closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a
small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to
foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze
macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal
exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an
economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital
movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell
Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed
exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the
country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own
monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a
fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy.
There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium
is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment
/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest
rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped.
The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity
preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity.
Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of
output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows
the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium,
which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually

A Murder Is Anounced Play Themes
Drama Review
Introduction:
Greed, betrayal and deceit are words that accurately define Hobart Repertory Theatre Society s
abridged production of A Murder Is Announced directed by Don Gay. Calvin Christian School s
grade 9 12 drama classes and the Student Theatre Company attended this production on Thursday
the 7th of May at The Playhouse Theatre. This play is an adaptation of the famous book by author
Agatha Christie who is considered the 2nd best selling writer closely behind William Shakespeare.
Plot:
A murder is announced in the local newspaper and it reads that it would take place at Little
Paddocks in Chipping Cleghorn. People start gathering at the household, awaiting the suspicious
death. Is it a fake or a practical joke? No one will know until the lights go out! ... Show more

But the main theme in the book and the play is murder . The whole play revolves around this
mysterious murder, eventually we find out that the murder revolves around money. It shows us that
people will do anything and everything in the pursuit for money. The play has a universal theme,
meaning that everyone could relate to it. Not everyone has killed someone to get money, but
everyone can understand the lengths some people go to obtain what is not rightfully theirs,
especially money.
The style of the murder mystery is cosy . This means that this style of murder is not as
horrifying or violent as some other murders. The violence is toned down and is not as terrifying
because it is treated in a humorous way. Cosy murder mysteries aren t filled with blood and gore
so you could easily watch or read this type of murder without getting completely scared. Agatha
Christie used cosy murder mysteries a lot in her books and it considered the cosy queen .
A Murder Is Announced also addresses the idea of class and status. This play is set in England in
the 1950s and class and social structure defined society in that time.

†The main reason for conservative dominance in the years...
The main reason for conservative dominance in the years 1951 to 1964 was labour disunity Assess
the validity of this view. (June 2011)
Labour disunity was a huge contributing factor as to why the conservatives were able to dominate
from 1951 to 1964. However, there are also other factors that assisted conservative dominance.
Whether that be conservative strengths, good timing, the end of austerity or their handle on public
opinion, all factors contributed to the dominant years. However, how long the conservatives
actually dominated is also a question. Did they dominate for the whole period, or just part of it?
The years 1962 1964 question conservative dominance and how labour reunited.
One of the major reasons why Conservatives were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Failure to exploit opportunities was also another labour problem. The 1956 sued crisis provided
labour with a great opportunity to get back on the attack. If there had been a general election in
1957 then things may have favoured labour. However, Suez did not split the conservatives and
labour were left with few targets to aim at in hoping to gain more supporters. The Labour party s
inability to counter conservative mistakes was a direct result of their disunity.
As well as labour disunity there are other factors to consider as to why conservatives dominated.
Firstly, the reorganisation of the party machine led by Lord Woolton after the dislocation caused
by the war and the shock defeat for the conservatives in 1946 proved pivotal for the conservatives
in improving their ideas (new conservatives with new ideas) and general organisation.
The conservatives recognised the extent of public approval for the legacy of the Attlee
government. Most Conservatives grasped the political realities of the time. There can be no
outright rejection of the welfare state, nor a total reversal of nationalisation. Attitudes towards
industry, the trade unions and social policy were going to have to be very different from the
1930s because the experiences of the war years had made people far more ready to accept the
need for state intervention and planning. The post war years had seen living standards rise, proving
to be very popular

of corridos can be credited to the different culture we live in now. Corridos in the past have been
about the Mexican American War, but most recently corridos began to be about life struggles
such as immigration and the violent drug war. While the topics of corridos have changed over
the years, corridos keep a familiar format with focusing on key issues of oppression, daily life, and
socially relevant events. In addition, corridos may help spread attention to events going around

After reading the article Utilizing goal setting strategies at the middle level: Help students self

research team. The first data collection method that was used was pre and post surveys. Surveys
are one of the most common and efficient ways to gather information. They provide large scale
responses very fast and can be utilized very efficiently and with minimal expense and can be easily
and quickly analyzed (Efron Ravid, 2013, p. 107). The research team gave the students that
participated in the research project a survey before the research project started and then again at the
conclusion of the project. They asked the students question from the Adaptive Learning Scales. This
survey examined how student learning is related to motivation, behavior, and effort (Patel, Smith,
Fitzsimmons, Kara, Detmer, 2012). The second data method that was used was the daily goal
journals that the students were asked to fill out. These goal journals was developed using the six
specific goals that were created by the research team. The students were asked to take notes on
how they felt they were doing moving toward their goals (2012). The last data method that was
used was the weekly reflection sheet. There were seven items on this reflection sheet that asked the

Essay on The Power of the Martian Chronicles
The Power of the Martian Chronicles
The Martian Chronicles is a collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury These stories all relate to
the idea of humans visiting mars, but are only connected by the loosest of threads. At times, it can
appear as if Bradbury was grasping mercilessly, searching for something to draw together the
random conglomeration of human situations his mind had created individually. The entity that
embraced all these stories and melded them from half hour kiddy show format stories into a great
two hour special feature novel was the forth planet from the sun, earth s neighbor and Bradbury s

science fiction writers write is science fiction (Card 11) to long winded essays on the topic
(particularly one by Groff Conklin.) The typical encyclopedia entry on science fiction describes the
genre as a form of fantastic literature that involves scientific/pseudo scientific advances that might
be oversimplifying it, however.
The Martian Chronicles, along with much of Ray Bradbury s work, has been criticized many
times in relation to its place in the science fiction community. The Martian Chronicles made it
clear that Bradbury was not interested in space travel, prognosis, or time travel (Clute 201) but
merely used these devices to support his stories of people s lives and emotions. Bradbury used
science fiction not as a genre, but as a literary device.
The messages of The Martian Chronicles speak about a myriad of ideas, not all having to do with
science fiction related topics. Throughout the novel, Bradbury s trepidation about the possibility of
atomic war is prominent, though offstage (atomic war breaks out on earth late in the stories, but it s

America was rapidly changing and with that so was the economy, society, culture, and political

The most common debate between a minority group and a majority group are the ideas around
religion and it is Elyakim Kislev (2012) who argued that, [there are] challenges faced by religious
groups in a society with a non religious majority. Throughout both McGraw Hill Higher Education
s work (2004) and Elyakim Kislev s (2012) research, the idea of a four step model was introduced.
However, majorities and minorities do not share the exact same steps, which can cause different
outlooks to arise. Minorities emerge with the four strategies/methods which include; integration,
also known as participation in the majority culture while still holding on to their own, separation or
rejection of the majority culture and only accepting their own, assimilation or the rejection of their
own culture and acceptance of the majority culture and finally marginalization, which focuses on
the rejection of both the majority culture and their own. The majority on the other hand show the
same integration step (but participating or interacting with the minority group) and then are
followed by acceptance, resistance and then redefinition and reintegration (McGraw Hill, 2004).
Kislev (2012) argues that the most ideal model or step would be, solely based on the acceptance of

Wellness Programs in the Workplace
Introduction
Over the last several decades, an epidemic of lifestyle diseases has developed in the United States.
In response, employers, in an attempt to increase productivity and decrease health insurance costs,
have created wellness programs to combat the growing trend of unhealthy living habits. This paper
will discuss the different components of a wellness program, explore a typical employer s overall
wellness strategy, and analyze incentives and trends in common wellness programs in America.
The frequency of unhealthy lifestyle choices such as inactivity, poor nutrition, tobacco use and

Studies in 2010 found that indirect costs (e.g., days missed at work) were approximately four times
higher for individuals with chronic disease than for those without.
Today, wellness programs focus on increased support for the chronic illnesses in the working age
population, as employers are concerned with their out of pocket expenses and the effects of
employer sponsored health coverage. In a recent survey by Towers Watson and the National
Business Group on Health (NBGH), 67 percent of employers identified employees poor health
habits as one of their top three challenges to maintaining affordable health coverage.
To help offset the increasing health care costs that our society faces today, employers are focusing
more on adopting good health practices through promotion and disease prevention strategies, often
referred to as workplace wellness program. Disease prevention programs have two stages of
prevention. The first is to prevent the onset of diseases or to diagnose, where the focus is on
addressing the health related behaviors and risk factor such as encouraging people to consume a
healthier diet. The second stage is to treat diseases at an early stage before complications occur.
This translates to promoting medication adherence for patients with asthma and other diseases

The Oldest Trade Prostitution Essay
Prostitution: The Oldest Trade

specifically dedicated to prostitution; escort services can take place at the payer s residence or hotel

The act of selling one s body for money is degrading. For radical feminism, prostitution is defined as
male domination, exploitation, and violence against women whether entered into voluntarily or
not, whether legal or illegal. As the most prominent radical feminist organization, the Coalition
Against Trafficking in Women, proclaims on its website, All prostitution exploits women,
regardless of women s consent (Weitzer, 2006). Prostitution is one of the more widely known and
condemned forms of sexual deviance (Goode, 2011). Prostitution touches all women, rationalizes
the sale of any woman, and condenses all women to sex.
In the area of public health, prostitution may play a decisive factor in the spread of STDs to third
parties. One should not reduce adverse health effects in prostitution to STDs (Adriaenssens, S.,

The Market of Rental Units
Rental Units are the large part of USA housing market. Nearly one third of American households
rent, and over 14 percent of households live in a rental apartments. The following chart list that
35% of population rents, which does not seem much in comparison to 65% of house owners but
they also contribute a lot to this society. Multifamily housing has high potential for energy savings
through retrofits, but the lack of data on best practices and historical cost savings has weakened
investment. Data related to energy efficiency, utilities and construction is really difficult to obtain
for a building, as many multifamily owners and operators never benchmark the energy performance
of their building. This critical shortage of information about building energy performance has
prevented property markets from valuing energy efficiency and severely undermined both public
and private efforts to increase the energy efficiency of multifamily housing. This has really affected
the development of energy efficient and green policies in multi family building. Green building is
about improving our design and construction practices so that the multifamily homes we build
today will last longer, cost less to operate, and won t harm the health of workers and residents. It is
also about protecting natural resources and improving the built environment so that ecosystems,

Griffith s Narrative Analysis
One word to describe Griffith is.. Eccentric. She is quite abnormal compared to her kin. Griffith
is a proud Lythari, an elf that has the ability to take the form of a wolf, one of very few who
exist. As a beast she stands at 4 , has a length of 5 7 , and weighs in at 160 lbs. The base color of
her coat is the same stark white as her hair with silver marbled in. A few identifying physical
traits are that she is missing 25% of the top of her left ear, while the right has been accented with
an assortment of 22 stone, wood, and bone hoops along the outer lobe/cartilage. While in her
elven form she stands at 6 4 and weighs in at 220 lbs. Additionally, she has seen 22 namedays,
which makes her one of the younger of her kind. Due to the strength... Show more content on

Because of this they are renowned for their desire to maintain a status of nonexistence to the rest
of the races, which is why they dwell deep within the forests and mountains, far from the rest of
humanity. This is where Griffith s oddity begins to show. Her curiosity and desire to learn about
all that she sees is deeply shunned. That s not to say that her people are not wise, but they seek
knowledge of the land, animal, and flora of their territories while Griffith thirsts for the
knowledge of other races. That being said, it does not seem as thought she was cast out from her
pack, she seems to suggest that she left of her own free will. Beyond that she doesn t elaborate on
her travels as she often becomes distracted or bored, but it is clear she has seen much in her young

Mentality In Mrs Dalloway
In Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf introduces a stark demarcation between physical and mental
temporality through the mentality and experience of the protagonists Clarissa Dalloway and
Septimus Warren Smith. As the novel proceeds, such discrepancy helps Clarissa Dalloway and
readers to discover a reconciliation of these elements.
Firstly, it is justifiable to say that physical time is regular and confining. As stated early in the
novel, Clarissa sees the Big Ben as an embodiment of the general time on the clock as The leaden
circles dissolving in the air (Mrs Dalloway, 2). It can be inferred that Clarissa regards it as an
involatile cycle wherein time itself never ceases to advance with incontrovertible accuracy.
Restraint in such rigidity evokes within her vast discomfort, to such an extent that she fears time
itself (Mrs Dalloway, 29). Physical time also carries pervasive influence. This can be seen when
Septimus s mind is overshadowed by real time upon hearing the sound of Big Ben and his wife:
The time, Septimus, what is the time (Mrs Dalloway, 65). His vision immediately shifts from that
of beauty and serenity to the spectre of Evans his deceased comrade. It is justifiable to say that
although inward time prevails his life, Septimus cannot eschew the scope of external time.
Opposed to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Kulhken puts it: rather than ceasing to be, an individual becomes transformed in mythical time
(Clarissa and ClГ©o (en)durГ©e suicidal time in Virginia Woolfs Mrs Dalloway and AgnГЁs

mythical time and oversimplifies one s departure to another place. In the book, the only complete
entrance to internal time is attained by Septimus through

Analysis Of Detroit, The Motor City
Detroit, the motor city, known by many for cars and to others for being the murder capital of the
world. This has caused many people to stop visiting and exclude Detroit from being a place of
interest. I have lived here all my life, and yes it has had its rough times but lately Detroit has been
improving drastically. The causes of the city to improve were to make people already living here
feel safer. Moreover, to change our illustration as one of the most dangerous cities. In addition to
this we want people to start visiting again and to see the metamorphosis that has struck our city.
Many recent changes brought to our city have been architectural, criminal rates precipitating and
film making. The city as a whole has been working diligently to improve and keep improving.
Although we face economical issues, dealing with the bankruptcy has been priority to many. By
analyzing Detroitthese past few years there has been major change everywhere that has brought a
positive effect to our atmosphere. In recent years, Detroit has pulverized much of its violence
within the city. It has been working with state police and county sheriffs to ensure that people
who live here are safer. The city is slowly but surely revitalizing and becoming a place of interest
to many. Moreover personal experiences have made me see this. A few years back I would hardly
see any police cars patrolling neighborhoods but now I see many always patrolling in southwest
Detroit. This has had a positive effect

An Analysis Of Corrie Ten Boom s The Hiding Place
Can you imagine a corrupted, twisted, and merciless dictator slaughtering your friends and
neighbors all around you? This is what Corrie ten Boom and the rest of her family experienced
during World War Two which she later wrote about in her book The Hiding Place. Although
everyone agrees that Hitler was using his power and influence to eliminate and torture the Jewish
race, some strongly believe Corrie should have ignored the hopeless Jews and lived her life
normally. Others however, claim she should have helped the hundreds of Jews seeking help.
Corrie should have hidden the helpless, desperate, and terrified Jews for three reasons: Helping the
Jews is what God would want, The Nazis where cruel and cold hearted to the Jews beyond

The Nazis were ruthlessly slaughtering the Jews unjustly. The Nazi soldiers were closing
Jewish shops to hurt them and take away their profit. If the Jews were captured, they would be
beaten or much worse. Last but not least the third reason Corrie should have hidden the helpless,
desperate, and terrified Jews was because if the Nazi found them and sent them off to a
concentration camp the ten Booms could bring hope to other prisoners. Because the ten Booms
loved God they could bring the gospel to doubting prisoners. Corrie could deliver the much
needed love into the concentration camps. The ten Boom could bring the comfort of a loving
and caring God to the prisoners. People of the opposing side claim Corrie should have ignored
the hopeless Jews and lived her life normally. They argue the Nazis will eventually find the
hidden Jews because one Jew wheezes as loud as a train and they cannot enter the secret room fast
enough. This is inadequate because with practice the Jews were able to make it to the room and
God hid the wheezing from the Nazi

Evaluating the Main Theories of Counselling Essay
This essay will attempt to highlight and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the three main
theories of counselling within the module covered this term. The three approaches in discussion are
psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic.
The psychodynamic theory originated from Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor and philosopher
(1856 1939) founded in the 1900s. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in
Vienna, collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood
experiences.
The psychodynamic theory focuses on the unconscious mind. Freud s credence is that different
mental forces operate in the mind. The unconscious mind can be described as being like an iceberg.

The Id is the unconscious state of mind; it is responsible for our voluptuous and immediate
satisfaction. It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also
responsible for our libido (sexual instinct).
The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of
them. This develops during the first two years of life.
The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right
and wrong.
Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other.
It involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to
behave leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue.
The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to
reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection,
denial and intellectualisation.
Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams
and interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association.
While most psychodynamic theories did not rely on experimental research the methods and theories
of psychodynamic thinking contributed to experimental psychology.
Psychodynamic Therapy was the first therapy used in attempting to explain mental illness and has
had great

Essay on The Arabic Invasion
Early history of Islam is marked by a remarkable political will to consolidate the fragmented tribes
of the Arabian Peninsula. Accordingly, it emerged a unified polity and administration, first under
Prophet Muhammad and then the first Caliph Abu Bakr that set the stage for the early Arab
conquests. The conquests continued unabated during the reigns of Caliphs Omar and Othman, and
then by the Umayyads and the Abbasids and other Muslim dynasties that established strong centers
of power in the world. By the 11th century AD, the Islamic society could boast of a number of
cultural and technical centers of leaning with eminent scholars of all the known disciplines of the
time. Thus, when the Arab Islamic armies invaded distant lands, they... Show more content on

The Church was also vibrant but largely in acquiring lands for donor s salvation, to the extent that
by the end of Carolingian era, over one third of the land of Gaul belonged to the church. The Arabic
culture, politics, and economy influenced Europe tremendously. The Arabic conquest of Spain
shows a great example for its succession. The kingdom of Al Andalus displayed political
centralism; it became an important location for trade It is also true that conquering armies too are
affected by the culture of the conquered lands. The Abbasid period also witnessed the Muslim
Agriculture Revolution and the Scientific Revolution during the reigns of al Mansur 9754 775,
Harun Al Rashid 786 809 and Al Mamun 809 813.Thus, when Crete was conquered in 827 AD, the
Arab civilization was surely at its peak.
Initially, indeed, the Arab society was not an ideal social and cultural set up and the Muslims were
aware of the fact that contemporary civilizations are far superior. To fulfill the requirements of a
developing intercontinental empire they adapted at a large scale. They tried and benefitted liberally
from Babylonian, Hellenic, Roman, Persian, Indian and Egyptian civilizations. The rich heritage
thus gathered was judged and reinterpreted in the light of contemporary demand and they never
shied away from experimenting and upgrading. They updated math to calculate inheritance and
taxes, made innovations in architecture for

Essay Theme Analysis of Killings by Andre Dubus
Killings , written by Andre Dubus in 1979, involves several aspects such as revenge, morality, and
murder. Elements, such as the story s title, the order of events, and the development of the
characters, are very unique. It successfully evokes emotion and suspense as the plot unfolds in
sequence. Though it seems easily overlooked, the title Killingsis very important due to the fact that
the thrill of suspense is left in the mind of the reader. The title encourages readers to question who
and what. It is also an intricate setting for the plot s mood. It implies that a murderhas taken place,
but that is all the reader knows. The chronology of the story uses a style called in media res , a

Strout may have been a killer, but he was still a human being, knowledge that Matt forced
himself to forget. Matt begins to identify with the forces that took his son s life murder. He and
Trottier planned and executed the murder of Strout not only to avenge Frank s death, but also to
protect his family. Dubus tells the readers how Ruth suffered every time she went into town and
would see Strout on the streets or in a store. He wrote, Ruth sees him... She can t even go out for
cigarettes and aspirin. It s killing her. (108) and It s the trial. We can t go through that, my wife
and me... (116). Ruth s suffering was Matt s motivation to protect his family. Matt could no longer
handle seeing Ruth s life become shattered by Frank s murder and her inability to deal with the
loss. This was Matt s final deciding factor to bring forth an end to their suffering by killing Strout.
There is no doubt in the readers minds that Strout is guilty of murdering Frank Fowler, but that does
not change the overwhelming anguish and guilt that is felt by Matt after he shoots Strout. As Matt
had led Strout through his house and into the bedroom, he could not help but notice the neatness of
the house or the picture of Mary Ann and the boys on the wall down the hallway. Matt began to
make a brief connection to the person who was standing before him; a connection that he had to
dispose of quickly. After the murder, Matt is lying in bed thinking about Strout s

Social Technical Theory in Knowledge Management
May 20, 2010
Henry David Thoreau once said, True friendship can afford true knowledge. It does not depend on
darkness and ignorance . (Lewis 2006) If we look at friendship as an organization, and relationships
within, you will find that Thoreau s statement is relevant to knowledge management. Information
sharing between divisions, branches, and individuals is critical to the success of all. Additionally,
John Adams has stated, The preservation of the means of knowledge among the lowest ranks is of
more importance to the public than all the property of rich men in the country . (Lewis 2006) This

management, SNA can identify patterns of interaction in an enterprise, including its properties,
such as the average number of links between people in an organization, the number and qualities of
subgroups, information bottlenecks and knowledge brokers. SNA provides a view into the network
of relationships that gives knowledge managers leverage to: Improve the flow of knowledge and

The Role Of Greek Gods In Greek Mythology
Greek Mythology has to do with Greek Gods and Goddess . There are a bunch of different Gods
or Goddess and most of them are more powerful than others and some are more important than
others. The God that I am going to write about is Atlas, the Greek God that held the heavens on his

burden. Atlas, the Greek Godthat held the heavens on his shoulders, is the son of Iapetus and
Clymene. The brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus, and Menoetius. He has seven daughters (known
as Pleiades) but was also the father of Calypso. His wife was Pleione. He was the Titan God of
astronomy and navigation, and the Titan of strength, endurance, and heavy burdens. And he was
associated with the Atlas mountains in northwest Africa. Also, Atlas was a legendary king of
Mauretania, while people said that he was supposably skilled in mathematics, philosophy, and

  • 2. Child Observation On Human Development Introduction For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose ages range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and development to test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my observations I watched two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were ages eighteen to twenty. Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I watched the children as they played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center on campus. On this day, I watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as they played. One of the little girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the females in the group appeared to have strong memory skills. The children were able to follow complex direction. The only male in the group seemed to struggle with memory. After, a while of play the male became more interested in a bug in the sand. This behavior reinforces Flavell, when he said that children s attention is more like a flash of light that focus on what it wants (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 230). After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as superman. Playing pretend helps children develop better social skills, self control, and they understand the perspective of others (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). While observing group B they performed the task of sitting around, talking, and laughing very well. The females in the groups appeared to have strong memory skills. They could follow complex directions. On the other hand, the males in the group seemed to have a problem with memory skills. While watching Group B, the male with the pink T shirt started doing push up and shortly after the male with the black shirt started to do them too. The two males within the group seems to be struggling with imaginary audience. Imaginary Audience is the feeling that everyone is watching (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 513). This was probably caused by the excusive use of the internet. In a study done by Moreno, it was found that adolescents of color used the internet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Frederick Douglass, The Most Famous African American... Frederick Douglass is the most famous African American abolitionists and the greatest American orators. Throughout American history, African Americans were victims of American governmental policies of harsh slavery. However, Frederick Douglass transforms the way people should understand slavery. He takes charge of upholding slaveryto himself and defends the freedom for those in slavery. While other African Americans did not have a voice, he became the voice for African American slavery. In this way, Frederick Douglass is a mental and physical hero because of his courage and achieving freedom from slavery through his strength of character and education. Frederick Douglass portrays himself as a physical and mental hero through courage in his autobiography, beginning from slavery at birth to freedom of escape. He refuses to accept anything less than his own physical, spiritual, and intellectual freedom. Moreover, he never hesitates to focus on his determination. According to the Litigation, one of the first acts of courage in Douglass life is teaching other slaves to read the New Testament with over forty people attending his classes. His master retaliates against his courage by sending him to another owner (Mr. Covey) who has a reputation for breaking courageous slaves. At that moment during his time with Mr. Covey, Douglass fights back because of this spirit that comes to him. That spirit is his courage. He gains courage to impose the effects of slavery and ... Society has put in our minds that we need ethnic identifications to feel part of a certain group of people. These feelings of belonging or attachment to a certain group of people is a normal thing for us humans but, why can t we be more than one? Many people shame on you for identifying yourself with one certain culture when you come from a mixed background. There are millions of people that live here in the US but are of Mexican descent. Being a Mexican Americancan be difficult because of all the stereotypes and discrimination, but also carries a sense of pride. Many times people look at a person and assume they are a specific race. Newsflash people! Mexican Americans can all come in different types of coloring. There are the typical stereotypical remarks like, You need to be brown to be Mexican, and if you are darker skinned then they assume you come from Mexico and are illegal. If a light skinned Mexican goes to Mexico then they think you are gringos or American, so basically neither side will accept you for what you truly are. People just need to accept that there are light and dark skinned people in every ethnicity. If you are a light Mexican, people judge you for it since you fooled them. If a person looks white but then they start speaking Spanish, others consider it as unacceptable and assume that person must be an immigrant. Practically all Mexican laborers are of a racial ... • 8. Wizard Of Oz Movie Vs Book There s no place like home (The Wizard): one of the most memorable dialogues of The Wizard of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming. This quote is the basis of various themes of the film. However, this movie is but one interpretation of the original work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum. The two pieces are similar and have the same general story lines, but the themes the two were trying to depict are not as similar as one might think. At first glance, Baum s book might be portraying the same message as the movie, but analysis of the other books in the Oz book series is required to truly understand Baum s theories. Though Fleming s The Wizard of Ozand Baum s The Wonderful Wizard of Ozare similar in terms of plot, Baum and Fleming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baum, Jonathan Swift was also a satirical and progressive writer. His essay A Modest Proposal, one of the most acclaimed pieces in satirical writing, discusses ridiculous, unrealistic solutions to help improve economic conditions of Ireland. A concept analyzed in Swift s essay similar to concepts in the Oz books series is Swift s anger [...] aimed at all social classes in Ireland (Ferguson, Oliver). Being part of a class system limits people to a certain lifestyle, creating prejudices. Swift is against the idea of restricting people to one way of living. Because the Irish obey to the system implemented by the British, little to no action was made against the horrid economic conditions of Ireland at the time Swift published his essay. Swift gave many suggestions to relieve social and economic turmoil of Ireland, but none of his suggestions were considered. The wealthy put in power by the British were prospering while the rest of the island was in chaos. His essay not only criticizes the wealthy, but also the citizens that were conforming to the terrible economic conditions. Swift believes the people could have done more to help their nation if they were dauntless enough to make a difference. Baum portrayed similar themes in his Oz books. Baum and Swift were men ahead of their time that encouraged progression and new experiences. Baum would definitely be one to disagree with a social class system that forces a single purpose of living onto a group of people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Escape In Romantic Poetry Repression and the Desire to Escape in Romantic Poetry Romantic poetry encompasses many things, involving, but not limited to; nature, the sublime, and strong senses of emotion. Many of the romantic poets wrote about nature, and how nature strongly relates to that sense of emotion. Of course when you lack emotion, or you are struck with many negative emotions, romantic poetry shows that nature itself is the remedy that you may require. Not only does romantic poetry show that nature can cure, but it shows that an escape to nature is required in order to understand it, and receive the cure that you seek. It shows that you must abandon your past struggles, and learn to embrace nature. This begs the question; how does romantic poetry attempt to show that nature is the cure to the issues that you currently face? Many of the romantic poets attempt to show that through an escape to nature, you are able to become enlightened. William Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage exhibits a woman (Margaret) who is surrounded by romantics, which is used to contrast that which are her struggles, and her lack of romanticism. This essay will look at the desire to escape the struggles that the characters are facing through a romantic escape to nature. It will display how Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage conveys a message of escapism to nature as a cure to hardship through a character that fails to escape, as well as how John Keats Ode to a Nightingale shows a character who succeeds with ... According to Geert Hofstede (1983), there are three important areas included in nationality, which are political, sociological and psychological aspects. First, political aspect can be different in each country. Second, sociological aspect can be understood by the way people think about their values base of belonging to one nation or region. Therefore, each person need to be circumspect when they work with foreigners to avoid misunderstanding about their identification, otherwise, that would trigger conflict between them. This chapter will form an essential basis for the research in which comparisons can be made. 2.1 What are Photovoltaics? Photovoltaic energy generation is the direct conversion of sunlight into energy. It offers one of the few ways of generating electricity in urban areas that is free of noxious emissions and noise. Photovolaic materials, commonly known as solar cells, generate direct current electrical energy when exposed to light. • 14. Optimism In Voltaire s Candide FACT: What I found extremely fascinating in Voltaire s work is the idea that It is demonstrable that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an end, all is necessarily for the best end (83). This quote by the character Pangloss is one of extreme optimism. He believes that they are living in the best world possible and everything that happens is meant to be. This really resonates with me because I do have the belief that God has an influence over our lives, so with that being said anything that happens good or bad God had a reason for. The concept of faith is what plays a key role in this belief; we must have faith in God and what path he paves for us whether we understand it or not. Sometimes he gives us obstacles to overcome to make us stronger, while other times he may bring good fortune. It may be hard at times to understand why God does what he does, but we must be able to take a step back and have faith in God s plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Misfortune seems to follow Candide and his optimistic view of the world. He wanders for a time to the point of starvation when he is found by a group of men who bring him back to health, but only to place him into the hands of the Bulgar military where he is to face even more tragedy. • 16. Sympathetic Villain In Doctor Faustus On the Differences between the Ultimate to the Sympathetic Villain In John Milton s Paradise Lost Satan represents the ultimate villain, a genuine representation of the dark side. For this reason, Milton s Satan is characterized with great decisiveness, lack of remorse whatsoever, and bold disobedience against the all mighty God. For this reason Satan remains throughout the poem in the evil side, without the ability to make even a temporary transfer from the dark side to the opposite heavenly side; hence Satan stays confined in the evil realm. On the other hand, in Christopher Marlowe s play The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus , Mephistopheles character represents a kind of villain that is somewhat easy to sympathize with. Consequently, Marlowe s Mephistopheles is capable to represent the obvious side of evil and yet in the same time to be an advocate in favor of repentance for Doctor Faustus. In Paradise Lost Milton portrays Satan as the adversary to God. Although Milton does not portray God exactly as he is described in the Bible, still he portrays God as the all mighty, the eternal, the creator of all creation, and as the ultimate representation of ... Thesis Of Last Flight By Amelia Earhart Ibrahim Albaba Mrs. Seeger APUSH || Period 1 Last Flight by Amelia Earhart February 9, 2017 For so much of our history as a people, we are often reminded of the many successful men that accomplished things to make this world a better place. We are reminded about their long, devastating journey to reach their goals and maintain their prosperity; however, not once do we hear of their wives or female siblings. In the early 1900 s it was still presumed that this was the role of the man. A woman from Kansas, however, rose beyond the clouds of prejudice her name Amelia Earhart. Determined and hard working, this woman set on surpassing the limits previously placed on women, and in her book, Last Flight, Amelia Earhart fought the many odds ... On January 11, 1935, she became the first person to fly across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland (Earhart 89 93). All this was done during a time and place where people lossed their jobs, and the economy was bad. Unemployment rate almost tripled between 1930 and 1933 as it jumped from 8.9 percent to 24.9 percent. Americans relied on Earhart s successes as national achievements and viewed them as encouragement through all of the unrest of the great depression. It was a signal that while America s economy was still weakening, the country s spirit to accomplish was still strong. It was also a symbol that the American dream was still active and that, at least in some way, those who worked hard would be compensated. Her accomplishments proved to the world that women were equal, and lifted America to the center stage of civil rights. In conclusion, the book Last Flight, by Amelia Earhart, portrayed a critical moment in American History; traditional viewpoints were challenged, aviation became ingrained in the American culture, and women became major players in the American Dream. Amelia Earhart s accomplishments have jarring similarities to Valentina Tereshkova the first woman in space, orbiting the earth forty eight times. In explaining how she came to be in such a condition, flashback scenes unfold in chapters introduced by snapping witty dialogue between Joe and Seligman. Cultural Issues In The Melting Pot It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and religious differences of the people that make up this nation and of the surrounding nations. America since 1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people from diverse backgrounds can come and experience freedom. Long before Israel Zangwillcoined the term Melting Pot, America has been a safe haven for immigrants even as early as the 1600 s up until the present time. With all of the various cultures that have come into America and continue to come, there must be an understanding of each other and respect, without those two key things in place there will not be peace. When you you see something totally different to you and do not understand it most people respond in fear, fear leads to misjudgement and spreading fallacies about that which is different from you. Their is no room for mutual respect when fear is in the way. Fear is at the root of all racism. Just look at how in Ancient times when Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians, Pharaoh ordered every firstborn be killed and thrown into the Nile. He worried that the Hebrews would become too many and try to revolt. Because of his judgement many had to die. • 22. The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy. There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment /saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, there are also other factors that assisted conservative dominance. Whether that be conservative strengths, good timing, the end of austerity or their handle on public opinion, all factors contributed to the dominant years. Failure to exploit opportunities was also another labour problem. The 1956 sued crisis provided labour with a great opportunity to get back on the attack. If there had been a general election in 1957 then things may have favoured labour. However, Suez did not split the conservatives and labour were left with few targets to aim at in hoping to gain more supporters. The Labour party s inability to counter conservative mistakes was a direct result of their disunity. As well as labour disunity there are other factors to consider as to why conservatives dominated. Firstly, the reorganisation of the party machine led by Lord Woolton after the dislocation caused by the war and the shock defeat for the conservatives in 1946 proved pivotal for the conservatives in improving their ideas (new conservatives with new ideas) and general organisation. The conservatives recognised the extent of public approval for the legacy of the Attlee government. Most Conservatives grasped the political realities of the time. There can be no outright rejection of the welfare state, nor a total reversal of nationalisation. Studies in 2010 found that indirect costs (e.g., days missed at work) were approximately four times higher for individuals with chronic disease than for those without. Today, wellness programs focus on increased support for the chronic illnesses in the working age population, as employers are concerned with their out of pocket expenses and the effects of employer sponsored health coverage. In a recent survey by Towers Watson and the National Business Group on Health (NBGH), 67 percent of employers identified employees poor health habits as one of their top three challenges to maintaining affordable health coverage. To help offset the increasing health care costs that our society faces today, employers are focusing more on adopting good health practices through promotion and disease prevention strategies, often referred to as workplace wellness program. Disease prevention programs have two stages of prevention. The first is to prevent the onset of diseases or to diagnose, where the focus is on addressing the health related behaviors and risk factor such as encouraging people to consume a healthier diet. The second stage is to treat diseases at an early stage before complications occur. This translates to promoting medication adherence for patients with asthma and other diseases ... Data related to energy efficiency, utilities and construction is really difficult to obtain for a building, as many multifamily owners and operators never benchmark the energy performance of their building. This critical shortage of information about building energy performance has prevented property markets from valuing energy efficiency and severely undermined both public and private efforts to increase the energy efficiency of multifamily housing. Mentality In Mrs Dalloway In Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf introduces a stark demarcation between physical and mental temporality through the mentality and experience of the protagonists Clarissa Dalloway and Septimus Warren Smith. As the novel proceeds, such discrepancy helps Clarissa Dalloway and readers to discover a reconciliation of these elements. Firstly, it is justifiable to say that physical time is regular and confining. As stated early in the novel, Clarissa sees the Big Ben as an embodiment of the general time on the clock as The leaden circles dissolving in the air (Mrs Dalloway, 2). It can be inferred that Clarissa regards it as an involatile cycle wherein time itself never ceases to advance with incontrovertible accuracy. Restraint in such rigidity evokes within her vast discomfort, to such an extent that she fears time itself (Mrs Dalloway, 29). Physical time also carries pervasive influence. This can be seen when Septimus s mind is overshadowed by real time upon hearing the sound of Big Ben and his wife: The time, Septimus, what is the time (Mrs Dalloway, 65). His vision immediately shifts from that of beauty and serenity to the spectre of Evans his deceased comrade. The three approaches in discussion are psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural and humanistic. Freud developed his ideas whilst working as a psychiatrist in Vienna, collecting information from his patients such as feelings, thoughts and early childhood experiences. It is our basic drives such as life instincts (Eros) and death instincts (Thantos); it is also responsible for our libido (sexual instinct). The Ego is the conscious state, the rational mind which organises our thoughts and makes sense of them. This develops during the first two years of life. The Super Ego aims for perfection, it works in contradiction to the Id. It controls our sense of right and wrong. Part of Freud s theory was that the Id, Ego and Super Ego were in constant conflict with each other. It involves the Id wanting immediate satisfaction and the super ego who wants the id/person to behave leaving the ego constantly trying to resolve the issue. The Ego uses a number of defence mechanisms to protect itself; these mechanisms are designed to reduce anxiety and stress. Some defence mechanisms include; repression, displacement, projection, denial and intellectualisation. Techniques used by Psychodynamic therapists consist of; dream therapy (making sense of dreams and interpretation into reasons behind them), hypnosis and free association.
