Charles Perrault Research Paper
Charles Perrault was born into a middle class family in France in 1628. Charles also received a
law degree in 1651. Cinderella was one of the first stories that was written for children. Before that
children would just read adult literature. Cinderella or the little glass slipper by Charles Perrault is
a folk tale embodying a myth element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. It is thought that
Perrault mistakenly wrote that Cendrillon s slipper was made from glass (Charles perrault, 2006).
The French words glass (verre) and fur (vair) are very similar so it is thought that a mistranslation
led to the inclusion of the famous glass slippers (Cinderella; or, The Little Glass Slipper, 2003.).
Perrault includes a verse about the moral of the tale after the conclusion of... Show more content on

wedding In Perrault version but in other versions they went in depth with the forgiveness of the
stepsisters. In the Disney version of Cinderella 4 mice is transformed into horses. In Perrault
version 6 mice is transformed into horses. A rat is transformed into a coachman in the Perrault
version, whilst a dog is transformed to a coachman in the Disney version. A myth is a story
based on tradition or legend, which has a deep symbolic meaning. A folktale is a popular story
that was passed on in spoken form, from one generation to the next. Mythology makes people
interested and fascinated with history and literature. Mythology express diversity. Diversity is
crucial for people to become more aware of other cultures. Myology also helps express the
differences and similarities of cultures. It also helps with children s imagination. It helps them

Court Room And One Party
Lawyers are responsible to demand justice for those who have violated their legal rights or an
act against the law. A lawyer is an individual that is trained to be able to handle any various legal
issues at hand. Lawyers have many task such as protecting their clients life as well as belongings,
defending a client if legal action is taken towards them, and guiding their client in the right
direction of legal advice from the law. Our law is very complex, rather than asking someone to
learn the law, as citizens we just pay someone who knows them, studies them and has practiced
them in various ways. When thinking of lawyers many people only think about the big picture, two
parties in a court room and one party becomes victorious. Lawyers are... Show more content on

In many cases lawyers have said wrong meaning in the court for something that the client had
not even done, resulting in false accusation which could possibly put an innocent person away
for nothing, this is why it is essential that lawyers prepare the way that they do. As a lawyer it is
your job to prove adequate abilities towards your case and most of all your client. Seeking
justice in the conclusion should be the attorneys goal even if the client presumes to be guilty. As
a student with a passion for the study of law, I have no fear in being the first to say that justice is
something we as people need to keep fighting for. Without justice who knows how things would
be, our world would be a complete mess. Recognition of the good from the bad, as well as the
just of our law, to the unjust. Becoming a lawyer is no easy task, in fact it is considered one of
the more difficult choices as a career path. With law being so widely spread there are numerous
approaches one may take in achieving the official goal in sight, being said, most find that the
approach taken is not always the final result. For example, many attorneys that pursue becoming a
prosecutor have a change of mind towards that study because they learn to combat with it so well,
ultimately switching sides to become a defense

Critical Analysis Of The Bloody Chamber By Angela Carter
Carter Castrates Freud: Criticism in The Bloody Chamber of Psychoanalytic Theory
While Psychoanalysis has provided many psychological breakthroughs in the field of mental health,
it has also created great issue in relation to gender equality. Freud s Psychoanalytic theory has
contributed to the solidification of female oppression, and to the inferior status of women in the
twentieth century. Psychoanalysis had become so intwined into the constructs of a male dominated
society that it creates further barriers in attempts for gender equality. While many people have
established their point of view through scholarly journals or scientific writings, Angela Carter uses
an artistic approach by contesting Freud s psychoanalytic theory in her ... Show more content on

227). Freudian theory in the same way also creates a great conflict between mother and daughter.
While the mother son relationship allows the mother to reach fulfillment by giving birth to a son to
on whom she can project her ambitions, the mother daughter relationship never reaches a resolve.
Freud states that tensions start with a denial of love when the mother chooses to stop breast
feeding the daughter. These tensions grow further when the daughter gains an understanding of
genital dominance and holds hostility for the mother because she denied her a penis. This
changes her father into her object of love and her mother into her greatest rival. Freud pits the
women as rivals, which undermines the mother daughter relationship and leaves the feminine
bond completely fractured. Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber attempts to change this ideal
by re establishing the feminine narrative through her story. Although the view of female as a
commodity is far older than psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic theory has consistently re enforced
the ideals of women as objects and of a lower status than men (Loftus). In The Bloody Chamber
Carter works to discredit the concept of the female as a commodity. When reflecting on the
Marquis previous wives, the narrator of The Bloody Chamber references the portrait model saying
her face was common property (pg. 5). From the surface, this is an allusion to the fact that she
allowed herself to be painted,

The homophonic texture is what most popular music today is described as. There is a prominent
person, maybe a lead singer, and a background. Even without the background, there may still be a
song. The piano, drum set, background singers, string instruments, guitar, bass guitar and the toms
add to the song because they add their own dynamic to it. They all play a crucial and different role
in the song as well.
The overall effect of the song, Hello, by Adele is effective in communicating the message of the
song. Each section that I talked about above gives unique qualities to the song that make people
interested and like the song. I like how throughout the song, it builds more and more slowly by
adding instruments or even just instruments playing louder dynamics as the song builds. I also like
how the song is not overly complicated and there is not too much going on instrumental

supplied by China. This could lead to fears of large scale dumping of Chinese Products. Although
80 countries have granted the MES to China, none of the large economies like the US, the EU and
Japan have done so.
G. Chinese Investments Subject to Special Security Clearances:India has blocked China s
investment in certain sectors like telecommunications, port development and cargo carriers on the
grounds that certain Chinese companies pose a security threat. Subjecting Chinese investments to
special security clearances could cast a question mark on the future bilateral economic ties of the
two countries, according to analysts.
H. Balancing the Economic Ties with Security Issues:The challenge before India and China is to be
able to manage the contradictory nature of economic ties with security issues. Balancing both the
aspects will have a profound influence on the emerging strategic and security architecture of Asia

As the military conflict and increasing hostility between Russia and Ukraine continues, so will the

Ukraine e energy sector and the country s energy policy. In light of growing pressures from the
European Union to maintain a normalised relationship with Gazprom, as well as the looming end
date of its gas supply contract with Russiain 2019, Ukraine s foreign policy must aim to re examine
this relationship, but also drive efforts for diversification and ensuring energy security in the long
run.
In a recent government statement, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated that Ukraine is
aiming to finalise a reviewed energy strategy by the end of 2016 with the key objective of
achieving energy independence and a creation of an Energy Efficiency Fund. The Prime
Minister stressed that, given its resources, Ukraine, should not be an importer, but an exporter of
energy resources. However, Ukraine needs to examine the realities of its energy supply and
demand and how this will shape and affect the governments foreign policy towards the EU and
Russia going forward. Currently, Russia s gas supplies amount to over 69% of Ukraine s energy
demand. Since its independence, much of the country s foreign policy has generally been driven
by a need to strike a balance in her relationships with the East and West, but due to history and

The Pros And Cons Of Donald Trump
So, everyone and their brother is all hot and bothered over Donald Trump making some
objectionable comments 11 years ago, in private to another man. Of course the media is all over

with feigned outrage because he used some dirty words was lusting after a woman.
News flash, if you are so hot and bothered about objectifying women then Hey Fox , yah better

credit to they stick together and actually defend each other no matter how dirty one of them is.
Now here s the reality check, does any of this crap change my vote? No it doesn t. Why you may be
asking yourself, because we need an ASSHOLE in chief who is able to deal with all the evil that
is out there and Donald Trump has proven he is capable of doing so. He has my support because
that is what we need. Washington is corrupt, the DOJ is corrupt, the FBI is corrupt, the media is
corrupt, and both political parties are as dirty as you can get. We have ISIS breathing down our

Literature Review On Special Needs
Literature Review
My action research project was influenced by the national push towards inclusion of children with
special needs into the general education classroom. Because our school was trying to adopt a co
teaching program, this was the area I did most of my research on. I found a multitude of studies that
supported co teaching and analyzed the effects of co teaching on students, teachers and parents. I
then researched the affects of a non inclusive environment on all students. After witnessing how my
students self esteem had plummeted due to their specific grouping, I was not surprised to find
research that supported the theory that students who are identified as having special needs will
have lower self esteem and self worth. In a study done on students with special needs, all of them
reported thinking they would be unable to attend mainstream classes because they did not feel they
were successful learners based on their placement in special education (Griffiths, 2007). This
study also revealed the children with special needs held fears that all adults would think of them
as troublemakers because the classes they were in held a high majority of children with behavior
problems (Griffiths, 2007). This study concentrates on students who attend schools for special
needs. These students may feel more isolated than those who receive special services inside a
mainstream school, but those who are evaluated or receive special education within a mainstream
school show the

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Congress
Although there are strengths in the way the United States Congress is built to deal with issues,
there are many weaknesses that counteract these strengths. Congress is a bicameral legislature that
is made up of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The strengths are in the way
Congress has clearly established rules. The three branches of government were created to make a
separation of powersso that no one branch can be more powerful than the next; which is known as
checks and balances. The clearly established rules that Congress has to follow is a major strength,
and although these checks and balances are beneficial, they tend to cause many dilemmas making

It is the job of both Congress and the president to make a yearly fiscal budget as well as
implementing tax regulations. There has been seventeen spending gaps since the government
revised its budgeting process which is a huge weakness. The United States is supposed to be the
world leader, yet their government has not even been able to agree on a budget half of the time.
The one good thing about this budget is that Congress creates a debt limit that the president has
to abide by. In theory this limit should help prevent overspending but when the president gets
close to the debt limit Congress has an option to raise the debt limit, which they always do. If
Congress does not raise the debt limit, the president will have to decide which bills do not get
paid. By not being able to pay people for the work they have already complete, it makes the value
of the dollar less trustworthy around the world. The debt limit has been

Distinctively Visual Analysis Painting
There are a lot of factors in this painting that suggest the woman is the main subject of the painting.
One of them is where the woman is placed in the painting, which is directly in the middle of the
painting. The three men surrounding the woman are positioned in a way that they almost create
lines pointing towards the woman. This automatically causes our eyes to shift on to the women in
the middle. The woman is also the only one facing the audience directly with her face fully shown
as oppose to the rest who only have half their faces.
The highlights and shadows in the painting also plays a part in suggesting that the woman is the
main subject of the painting. Strong contrast between the middle area of the painting and the sides
can be seen. This creates further emphasis on the woman as the light enable us to see most of the
features on her face highlighted as compared to the rest. This creates an effect as if the light is

Throughout history, crime literature has been one of the most popular genres to reach the masses.
Ranging from last words of criminals sentenced to death to sermons about crime and religion, crime
stories have presented criminals to the masses in different lights and with different opinions. Some
condone their treacherous acts in favor of describing their libertine lives; others outright condemn
their crimes and lifestyles. However, no matter the purpose of the writer, most crimeaccounts have
the same effect: they make criminals likable to people.
Criminals are, by definition, people who do not conform to society s norms and values. In many

Chrysler in Trouble
Executive Summary
The automobile market is one of the most lucrative markets in the world. They have focused on
international expansion since the late 1900s. This market has very successful international
companies such as Mercedes Benz, Lexis, Hyundai, Chrysler, Camry, Fiat, etc. All of these firms
have held a position in the automobile industry. Even in economic hardships when demand for
automobiles was decreased, the market did not faze them. Two firms prominent in this industry are
Chrysler and Fiat which have both held successful positions in the late 1900s. Due to decreased
market demand and lackluster products both firms have drastically diminished their market appeal.

The employment level first dipped below one million in 2007 and fell to 880,000 workers last year.
With the restructuring and bankruptcy of Chrysler and General Motors, and the ongoing recession
in the auto sector, employment in the nation s automotive manufacturing industry will most likely
shrink in 2009 and 2010 as additional assembly, powertrain, and auto parts plants close.
Economically the automobile industry is an oligopoly. This is why the Big 3 remains the Big 3.
The nature of building cars makes it difficult for small players to enter the market. The cost of
entry is high. As an oligopoly, the Big 3 also tend to pay more attention to one another than to
customers or competitors. If GM adds airbags, Chrysler and Ford add airbags. Being the smallest,
Chrysler tends to follow rather than lead. Ideas generated outside the Big 3 tend to be ignored.
When times are good, automakers can sell anything they can produce. That includes bad cars. But
during recessions, automakers lose billions of dollars just maintaining operations. This is basically
due to the high fixed costs. And those costs are getting higher as tight union contracts make labor a
fixed cost.
The industry consists of six segments: three mature markets (North America, Japan and Western
Europe) and three emerging markets (Asia Pacific, Eastern

Samurai And Knights Dbq Research Paper
In medieval Europe and Japan there were warriors called samurai and knights that protected their
region (Doc. 1). The samurai fought in Japan and knights fought in Europe (Doc. 1). Knights were
famous for riding on horseback but the samurai would ride too (Doc.1). Samurai were mainly
famous for their karate skills and acrobatic moves (Doc. C). One key characteristic for both the
samuraiand knights was that they were both loyal (Doc. E). They had to be because they played
a big part in feudalism (Doc. A). Both warriors had a code that they abided (Doc. E). Bushido

took the vows of true knighthood (Doc. E). They promised to be loyal to the king, be merciful,

Chivalry are the same as what Jesus calls Christians to do (OI). The samurai s code, bushido, was
similar to Chivalry in many ways (OI). Like Chivalry, the samurai are asked to be loyal to their

Charlemagne In The 21st Century
Historians and academics of the 21st century have different opinions on whether Charlemagne was
a barbaric slaughterer or a statesman. A modern scholar could defend their opinion by saying that
Charlemagne was a brutal murderer who killed thousands of innocent children, families, and caused
a catastrophe. An opposing side might hold the belief that Charlemagnewas a great emperor who
unified Western Europeand created innovations that further progressed civilization. In any case,
Charlemagne was a statesman whose intention was to strengthen the political and cultural aspect of
government.
In 476 AD, the Western Roman Empirehad lost the strength needed to effectively manage a large
empire. Charlemagne s reign had strengthened the Western part of the Roman Empire and
facilitated the development of Western Civilization. Firstly, Charlemagne improved the alphabet by
introducing lowercase letters, also known as Carolingian minuscule. Carolingian minuscule
replaced the Merovingian handwriting and Roman alphabet, which only contained capital letters:
Charlemagne and his clerical advisers consciously set out to improve the institutional and technical
aspects of government. Carolingian script is an example. In a sense, Carolingian Script is even an
improvement over Latin, which employs only capital letters. Writing was used all throughout the
Carolingian empire from writing legal documents such as oaths and capitularies to being
implemented in school. Therefore, it was

Niccolo Machiavelli And Plato
Niccolo Machiavelli and Socrates are widely regarded as two of history s greatest
thinkers, both of which had strong, albeit very different, ideas of what it meant for a person, or a
ruler, to be good and virtuous. From Socrates thoughts and ideas as recorded in the Apology and
Crito, it can be concluded that he would not find Machiavelli s version of the Prince to be the ideal
ruler, or preside over a completely prosperous society. Although, Socrates may have disagreed
with many of the aspects of what Machiavelli thought the Prince should be, he would, however, be
supportive of the Prince s political system overall because of his belief that every man has a duty
to follow and uphold the laws of the society in which they live. ... Show more content on

The Prince, by Machiavelli s standards, was a virtuous man, meaning that he was someone that
possessed the traits necessary for one to be a strong ruler. For example, Machiavelli believed that
the Prince should be courageous, ambitious, confident, well learned, and also have good foresight.
Simply, Machiavelli associated virtue with success, and a prince with virtue was one that would go
to any length to be a successful ruler. Socrates on the other hand thought that a virtuous man was
one that strived for truth and goodness in all situations, and followed the laws of the land in which
he was living (Crito, 54B).
Following from the difference in opinions of virtue, there is another closely related area in
which Machiavelli and Socrates thoughts differ; goodness and justice. Socrates believed that a
man should be good and virtuous in all aspects of his life, however, Machiavelli simply did not
believe this was possible. Machiavelli states, everyone will admit that it would be highly
praiseworthy in a prince to possess all the...qualities that are reputed good, but as they cannot all
be possessed or observed, human conditions not permitting of it, it is necessary that he should be
prudent enough to avoid the scandal of those vices which would lose him the state (Machiavelli,
Chapter 15, 57). From this it can be concluded that Machiavelli believes that the Prince should not
try to be good and virtuous in all respects, but only in the ones in which it benefits

Broadcasting Decision Rtc Case Summary
Case Summary of Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004 271
Founded in 1996, Genex Communications, Inc. is a Quebec City based private broadcasting
group with interests in the sports, radio, web property, and indoor advertising industries
(Bloomberg, 2017). From 1997 to 2004, the company owned CHOI FM QuГ©bec, Quebec City
s most popular radio station (Ha, 2004). After its first license to operate CHOI FM concluded in
August 2001, Genex was questioned by the CRTC over its failure to honour conditions of the
license, such as keeping logger tapes and meeting the quota for French language music. A high
volume of public complaints (47 from 1997 to 2001) also led the CRTC to establish that CHOI

Genex was also fully aware of the potential consequences of ignoring its license requirements or
broadcast law. Public complaints against the broadcaster had quadrupled. Abusive content on
CHOI FM violated both the law and the conditions of Genex s license, and it was not an honest
mistake; instead it reflected a pattern of behaviour ... that continued and grew even worse over
... two consecutive license terms despite clear, unequivocal warnings from the Commission, the
CBSC and even ... [Genex s] own advisory committee (CRTC, 2004). Genex had done nothing to
censure its most abusive morning talk show hosts, Fillion and AndrГ© Arthur; instead, it gave
them even bigger roles. Genex s proposed changes were unsatisfactory and its senior executives
did not recognize their legal responsibility for the actions of CHOI FM participants. The CRTC
decided that giving Genex a legal order to follow the Radio Regulations, or temporarily
suspending its license to operate CHOI FM, would not be good solutions because Genex showed
no sign of realizing its mistakes and duties or making real changes in the future. For all of these
reasons, the CRTC decided not to renew Genex s license at all, and the company lost all rights to

Compare And Contrast The End Of History And Fukuyama
The end of the Cold War was not just a politically significant event but also an important intellectual
milestone, where academics, researchers and intellectuals examined the consequences that its end
would concur. Fukuyama s The End of History and Huntington s Clash of Civilizations are two of
such explorations but contrast each other significantly. Fukuyama predicts a future of peace, or
minimal conflict, amidst the spread of Western liberal democracy, a system of government he
believes has been actualized as perfect in Hegel s realm of consciousness whereas Huntington
argues that conflict will stem from civilizational differences, owing to the rise in civilization
consciousness. I will start my essay by briefly summarizing the main arguments of each article, after
which I will attempt to critique each one before drawing comparisons between the two.

that fascism and communism were imperialist forces that the West defeated, Fukuyama forgot to
consider that the capitalism itself is one of those forces, guided by capital gain, and exploitation. In
that sense, when he argues about the appreciation of American culture in other countries, it
becomes a new imperialism of culture where there is a new global proletariat of weaker countries
who can t afford to have protectionist economies to safeguard their values because then the West
wont help them. Nonetheless, neither Huntington nor Fukuyama tells us what we need to know in

The Amazon is a vast region spanning across Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela,
Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana (Walker, Cesareo 2014). Possessing the most developed
rainforest of anywhere in the world, over two thirds of all the fresh water and 20% of the earth s
oxygen are produced in the Amazons (wcupa.edu). Despite the vital role of the Amazons, the rapid
deforestationcontinues to affect the ecosystem. (Mainville, et al, 2006). The main causes of

Soil erosion is a natural process in which wind and water remove soil. The removal of the soil
roughly occurs at the same rate soil is formed. But accelerated soil erosion, is a far more recent
problem. The result is mankind s unwise actions, such as overgrazing or unsuitable cultivation
practices (Collins, 2001). Recent studies link deforestation to the accelerating soil erosion
process and to the leaching of naturally occurring mercury (Mainville, et al., 2006). The
acceleration of soil erosion then leads to land infertility affecting local and worldwide (Pimentel,
et al. 1995). Forest fragmentation is another hazard of deforestation. According to the EPA, the
fragmentation process breaks up large parts of forest into smaller pieces. Continuous
fragmentation may accelerate global warming by releasing carbon stored in trees (Wade, T.,
2003) The Ecuador Amazonian native communities are experiencing the environmental impacts in
their flora and fauna as well as risks to their health. Infectious disease dynamics are being altered
in animals and humans, strongly affecting cross species infection rates (Pongsiri, et al 2009).

How To Write An Essay About Cleopatra
Queen of Egypt for nearly 300 years, Cleopatra VII was one of the first female rulers at the time.
Cleopatra was a very smart women. She studied many subjects such as philosophy, literature, art,
music, and medicine. She also knew six different languages, which were Aramaic, Ethiopic,
Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and of course Egyptian. This made her a very powerful and wise pharaoh.
Cleopatra was the oldest of two. She had a younger brother, Ptolemy XIII, who ruled the
Macedonian dynasty with her. Her father was King Ptolemy XII, who ruled the Ptolemaic reign
for 26 years. There isn t much information about her mother, but in the article on biography.com

Essay Changes in Early Modern Europe
Early modern Europe, specifically Spain and England, was going through major growing pains in
the period before discovery and settlement of the New World. Recovery from the Black Plague,
religious reformation, and newly formed nation states were on the forefront of these changes. The
political environment, economy, and religion were all intertwined during the upheaval of the Old
World which proved to be a driving force in the search for and eventual settlement of new lands.
The Reformation and the Counter Reformation were major motivating factors in early modern
Europe leading to exploration of new lands. This began with Martin Luther s break from Catholic
doctrine in 1519. By the time the Reformation came onto the European stage,... Show more content

Because of all this religious change in England and other nations, they were slower to explore
and colonize the New World. Economic changes occurred partly due to the newly formed nation
states of Spain, Portugal, France, and England. Trade at that time was limited and expensive, so
the Europeans began looking for new trade routes to Asia. What they found was an altogether
new place that opened up many new opportunities for food sources, money, and slave labor. A
motivator for exploration was defined primarily in terms of silver and gold and secondarily in
terms of raw materials. Another factor to consider was the population explosion that came about
after the Black Plague wiped out around 30 million Europeans producing economic disruption.
Spain was seeking gold to finance further expeditions abroad and their own war with the Muslims
on the home front. Britain was seeking new trade markets for their wool with the collapse of their
wool market at home. Another mitigating economic factor was the rising prices created by the
flood of American silver into the European market. This caused rates to double on many goods,
which benefited the farmers and the merchants, but the majority of people suffered because their
wages did not rise proportionately. This increased the number of people living on the fringes of
society and thus built up pressure to immigrate to the Americas. Intertwined with

Should Children Be Allowed To Play Violent Video Games...
In the article Should Children be allowed to Play Violent Video Games the author states that
although there are many different pros and cons and there is no right answer to the central question.
The author states that the decision of children playing violent games be left up to them. In the
article the author asserts that one argument to allow children to playvideo games that showcase
violence is that it can act as a stress reliever and help control their emotions. This argument is a
valid one by those who believe this but for those who have a counter argument say that this is
not true. The counter argument to video games being helpful is that they are harmful. There is
no inbetween or balance between these two sides the author suggests that the two opposing
sides will never come to an agreement. The negative side says that video games make children
more violent and less capable to deal with real world problems. The argument of Children being
allowed to play violent video games is ultimately a decision that a parent would need to make
with a compromise between the child and the parent. In the discussions of children playing
violent video games, one controversial issue has been weather it beneficial or not. On the one
hand opposers argues that Violent video games ruins kids abilities to handle real world problems.
On the other hand defenders opposes saying that these games are beneficial for children. My own
view is that video games can be beneficial for kids. In my

Cyanide Reaction Lab Report
I.INTRODUCTION
Cyanide is a chemical compound containing cyano (─C≡N) groups, comprising carbon and
nitrogen radicals, and can be found in various organic and inorganic compounds. Some inorganic
cyanide compounds such as sodium cyanide (NaCN) and potassium cyanide (KCN) are groups
of compounds having negatively charged polyatomic cyanide ions (CN ). This compound is a salt
of a highly toxic hydrocyanic acid. Several types of organic cyanides are usually called nitriles, in
which the CN group is covalently bonded to a carbon group, such as methyl (CH3) dimethyl
cyanide (acetonitrile). Since nitrile compounds do not release free cyanide ions, they are generally
less toxic, or in the case of insoluble polymers such as acrylic fibers, essentially ... Show more

Nickel in the nickel (II) state is more stable than nickel (0), nickel (I), nickel (III) and nickel
(IV). Nickel (I) and nickel (0) are unstable because they are easily oxidized, nickel (III) is easily
reduced to nickel (II) and nickel (IV) is rare. Nickel (II) forms a large number of complexes with
coordination numbers 6, 5, and 4, which have all major types of structures, namely octahedral,
bipiramidal trigonal, pyramidal squares, tetrahedral, and square (Cotton and Wilkinson, 2009). Most
nickel complexes adopt octahedron geometry structures, adopt only slightly the geometry of
tetrahedron and square.
A nickel (II) complex with a strong ligand capable of performing better electron donations, tends
to prefer a square structure rather than an octahedral. The commonly known nickel (II) complex
compound is a tetracanonic acid (II) ([Ni(CN)4)]2 ) diamagnetic ion. The square structure can

Communism is under the control under one major party that is the only producer, no private
property and the goods are available and equal to all. One of the major cons of communism is that
it takes away the voice of the people which goes against equality which is very important.
Socialism has a government that produces and distributes goods based on their work unequally.

When firms have such power, they change prices that are higher than can be justified based upon
the costs of production. Monopolies are not a problem because there is still money being acquired
and there is still competition. To produce high end products, it is easier to have one large firm
rather than several smaller ones. In other cases monopolies are essential for utilities like water and
electricity. It makes the most sense for a monopoly to control this because of the upfront expensive
cost. If they are not essential, the other companies would need to work harder to take down the

Modeling uncertainty for economic effects of echinococcosis were used initially in studies in

most notably surveillance data from which the costs of the disease can be calculated are not
deterministic and depend, interalia upon sampling error, errors due to diagnosis and problems with
bias and underreporting. For financial costs there will be uncertainty in the mean costof treatment
due to large variations in the treatment costs of individual patients. In developing the DALY there
is also uncertainty in terms of morbidity and mortality. In the Tibetan study (Budke et al., 2004),

A significant challenge in estimating the burden of echinococcosis is that of missing data. In
wealthy countries there are often good data sets from public health statistics or from hospital
records. Thus relatively accurate estimates of the incidence of disease can be made. However,
most of the burden of echinococcosis is in developing nations with 40% being in China alone
(Budke et al., 2006). In many areas even if treatment is available reporting systems are inaccurate
and hence there is likely to be significant underestimates of the true numbers affected by the
disease. This is illustrated by the estimated 75% underreporting in Chile and Uzbekistan of cystic
echinococcosis (Nazirov et al., 2002; Serra et al., 1999). For communities where treatment is
largely unavailable such as remote herdsmen communities on the Tibetan plateau most of the data
must come from carefully planned surveys which will give an indication of point prevalences
based on, for example, cross sectional ultrasound surveillance studies. Such data can be used to
model the likely number of cases in society and the disease burden. A further problem is that even
utilizing such data, ultrasound will not diagnose pulmonary echinococcosis and therefore this must
be accounted for as this could be an additional 10% or more cases. Estimates of the prevalence of
undiagnosed cases need to be undertaken as there is

Whether Aphrodisiacs Pose A Mental Or Physical Stimulation...
Aphrodisiacs in the Body and Mind
An Aphrodisiac is defined a substance such as foods, drinks, or drugs, that cause or increase sexual
desire (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). This paper will investigate whether aphrodisiacs pose a mental or
physical stimulation on the human body. It has been recorded that in multiple points of history,
many things were considered aphrodisiac, some of these things include potatoes. Aphrodisiacs
have Greek origins, deriving from the Greek word aphryodisiakos meaning sexual gem with
aphrodisiac properties, from aphrodisiac heterosexual pleasures form the neuter plural of
aphrodisios of Aphrodite; greek goddess of love and fertility (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). The first
aphrodisiac recorded in human history was body odor, and potions were sold in ancient Rome.
Aphrodisiacs were considered a threat to chastity after the Roman Empire ended, which prompted
the church to outlaw several aphrodisiacs. Western civilizations such as the Incans and Aztecs used
aphrodisiacs for reproductive purposes and Asia utilized plants and insects as aphrodisiacs in order
to increase their sexual libido. Aphrodisiacs have shown to be dynamic in culture and practices,
and also in the utilization within diverse groups of people. Aphrodisiacs remain a topic of study
for researches today, as they explore how various senses of the body affect sexual arousal. Asia is
believed to be the top consumer of aphrodisiacs, while other countries believe the concept of

agree with him. Citizens that engage in Civil Disobedience are not overextending any form of right,
but are in fact using the ones given to them by their constitution. Also, by engaging in civil
disobedience, citizens are criticizing their government, something that was encouraged in the Greek
and Roman republics which the United States bases the government upon.
Civil Disobedience is remarkably effective without the violence that many had thought necessary.
Several famous examples include the Salt March of Mahatma Gandhi, the Civil Rights movement
of Martin Luther King Jr., and even the sit ins of the factory workers during the industrial
revolution. Although, many still argue that civil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those politicians and inhabitants of the first thirteen colonies that had fought the war against
Britain, thought it important, based on their own experiences, that their citizens be able to
question their government. After the issues with the power of the British Monarchy, they sought
out to prevent another abuse of power and set their own government to reflect this necessary
freedom. Today, people migrate to America in droves to gain this freedom, for where they had
come from, they would have been killed. It is not a freedom to be taken for granted, seeing as it
had done so much for the minorities of the United States, and while it isn t perfect yet, with more
Civil Disobedience it could be.
Overall, Civil Disobedience is an important part of the United States and what it is. If America did
not have the laws protecting those who had protested against the crimes of the government, it
would not have made the progress that it has. Civil Disobedience is a part of the American Dream
and must be protected as

Pros And Cons Of Affirmative Action
Affirmative action and any race positive policies should be dismantled; I disagree with affirmative
action. Better stated from the debate question: like Jim Crow, affirmative action is invidious racial
discrimination. Affirmative action should take the path similarly to that taken in California become
abolished. Affirmative actiondoes discriminate on a racial level. Affirmative action implies that
minorities cannot achieve a certain goal without the help of a race positive policy, which is
invidious racial discrimination. While policies developed to create diversity may (or may not) bring
in diversity, the policies are damaging and create a second class minority degree. (Scalia, 1979)

In the case of Bakke, affirmative action does not actually provide equal opportunity; it helps
minorities at the cost of others. ...eliminating racial preferences would have increased the
likelihood of admission for white undergraduate applicants from 25 percent to only 26.5 percent.
(Liu, 2002) For Bakke, the chances of being admitted are increased if affirmative action was not
in place. For example, 60 percent black applicants who scored 1200 1249 on the SAT were
accepted, compared to 19 percent of white applicants. For those who scored 1250 1299 on the
SAT, 74 percent of blacks were accepted contrasting the 23 percent of white applicants accepted.
Bakke was only allowed to be chosen from 84 spots versus a minority student who had all 100
spaces available to them. For many, that difference may not mean much at all, but those slim
chances could have

The Sunflower Analysis
If someone were to partake in the murdering of your own kind, would you be able to forgive
them? That is the question that Simon Wiesenthal must ask himself in the story The Sunflower ,
a book about pain and forgiveness. The Sunflower follows Simon as he listens to Karl, a former
SS officer, confess and ultimately beg for forgiveness for the war crimes he committed. It pits
Simon against a very difficult situation and even makes the reader consider what they would
do. So, from reading The Sunflower and all of the supplemental essays, I can come to the
conclusion that I do believe that the Soldier should be forgiven because he was brainwashed by
propaganda and felt strong regret for his actions. First and foremost are the ideas of Dith Pran
and Franz Konig. Starting with Dith Pran, a Cambodian refugee during the time of the Khmer
Rouge. This government was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands, including
Dith s father, brothers, and sister. While one may think Dith possessed anger for the people who
did this to him, he actually stated, I can forgive the soldiers of the Khmer Rouge. Those who
actually did the killing, although I can never forget what they did . . . Why? I have always felt
like the soldiers were trapped . . . they were taught to kill. They were brainwashed. More
importantly, they were forced to kill . Dith s philosophy is one of anger towards a higher power.
In his case it was the leaders of the Khmer Rouge but in Simon it would be his general

Exploring The Various Meanings Of Spirituality
A worldview consists of values and theories that provide guidance in understanding reality, the
essence of life (Shelly Miller, 2006). There are different ways of interpreting the world and there
are various factors that influence an individual s view of his or her total wellbeing. These
factors include spirituality and religious background, beliefs and experiences. According to
Funk (2001), a worldview is a set of beliefs that control an individual s thinking, knowing and
doing. Individuals adhere to their model of worldview to lay a framework of attitudes about life
and the world. Some aspects of worldview are shared by many in the population. However,
concepts and elements vary for each person. This paper aims to explore the various meanings of
spirituality as it relates to health care, human personhood, reality, death and afterlife, knowledge,
code of ethics and human history. Perspectives on Spirituality Spirituality is a common human
element which resides in every individual and it is a compelling force that keeps an individual
evolving and developing (Goddard, 1995). Frequently with God as its central focus, spirituality
is a person s belief in a greater power and his or her connectedness to God. Gotsis Kortezi (2008)
adds that spirituality is a person s purpose to his or her existence and a desire to find its divine
meaning. Philosophies such as, religious beliefs and practices, love for family and compassion to
others all provide depth to the meaning of

Cinderella was one of the first stories that was written for children. Before that children would just read adult literature. Cinderella or the little glass slipper by Charles Perrault is a folk tale embodying a myth element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. It is thought that Perrault mistakenly wrote that Cendrillon s slipper was made from glass (Charles perrault, 2006). The French words glass (verre) and fur (vair) are very similar so it is thought that a mistranslation led to the inclusion of the famous glass slippers (Cinderella; or, The Little Glass Slipper, 2003.). These tensions grow further when the daughter gains an understanding of genital dominance and holds hostility for the mother because she denied her a penis. This changes her father into her object of love and her mother into her greatest rival. Freud pits the women as rivals, which undermines the mother daughter relationship and leaves the feminine bond completely fractured. Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber attempts to change this ideal by re establishing the feminine narrative through her story. Although the view of female as a commodity is far older than psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic theory has consistently re enforced the ideals of women as objects and of a lower status than men (Loftus). In The Bloody Chamber Carter works to discredit the concept of the female as a commodity. When reflecting on the Marquis previous wives, the narrator of The Bloody Chamber references the portrait model saying her face was common property (pg. 5). From the surface, this is an allusion to the fact that she allowed herself to be painted, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literature Review On Special Needs Literature Review My action research project was influenced by the national push towards inclusion of children with special needs into the general education classroom. Because our school was trying to adopt a co teaching program, this was the area I did most of my research on. I found a multitude of studies that supported co teaching and analyzed the effects of co teaching on students, teachers and parents. I then researched the affects of a non inclusive environment on all students. After witnessing how my students self esteem had plummeted due to their specific grouping, I was not surprised to find research that supported the theory that students who are identified as having special needs will have lower self esteem and self worth. In a study done on students with special needs, all of them reported thinking they would be unable to attend mainstream classes because they did not feel they were successful learners based on their placement in special education (Griffiths, 2007). This study also revealed the children with special needs held fears that all adults would think of them as troublemakers because the classes they were in held a high majority of children with behavior problems (Griffiths, 2007). This study concentrates on students who attend schools for special needs. These students may feel more isolated than those who receive special services inside a mainstream school, but those who are evaluated or receive special education within a mainstream school show the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Prince, by Machiavelli s standards, was a virtuous man, meaning that he was someone that possessed the traits necessary for one to be a strong ruler. For example, Machiavelli believed that the Prince should be courageous, ambitious, confident, well learned, and also have good foresight. Simply, Machiavelli associated virtue with success, and a prince with virtue was one that would go to any length to be a successful ruler. Socrates on the other hand thought that a virtuous man was one that strived for truth and goodness in all situations, and followed the laws of the land in which he was living (Crito, 54B). Following from the difference in opinions of virtue, there is another closely related area in which Machiavelli and Socrates thoughts differ; goodness and justice. Despite the vital role of the Amazons, the rapid deforestationcontinues to affect the ecosystem. (Mainville, et al, 2006). The main causes of deforestation include unsustainable logging, agriculture, invasive species, fire, fuel wood gathering, and livestock grazing. Soil erosion is a natural process in which wind and water remove soil. The removal of the soil roughly occurs at the same rate soil is formed. But accelerated soil erosion, is a far more recent problem. The result is mankind s unwise actions, such as overgrazing or unsuitable cultivation practices (Collins, 2001). Recent studies link deforestation to the accelerating soil erosion process and to the leaching of naturally occurring mercury (Mainville, et al., 2006). The acceleration of soil erosion then leads to land infertility affecting local and worldwide (Pimentel, et al. 1995). Forest fragmentation is another hazard of deforestation. According to the EPA, the fragmentation process breaks up large parts of forest into smaller pieces. Continuous fragmentation may accelerate global warming by releasing carbon stored in trees (Wade, T., 2003) The Ecuador Amazonian native communities are experiencing the environmental impacts in their flora and fauna as well as risks to their health. Infectious disease dynamics are being altered in animals and humans, strongly affecting cross species infection rates (Pongsiri, et al 2009). Recovery from the Black Plague, religious reformation, and newly formed nation states were on the forefront of these changes. The political environment, economy, and religion were all intertwined during the upheaval of the Old World which proved to be a driving force in the search for and eventual settlement of new lands. The Reformation and the Counter Reformation were major motivating factors in early modern Europe leading to exploration of new lands. Because of all this religious change in England and other nations, they were slower to explore and colonize the New World. Economic changes occurred partly due to the newly formed nation states of Spain, Portugal, France, and England. Trade at that time was limited and expensive, so the Europeans began looking for new trade routes to Asia. What they found was an altogether new place that opened up many new opportunities for food sources, money, and slave labor. A motivator for exploration was defined primarily in terms of silver and gold and secondarily in terms of raw materials. Another factor to consider was the population explosion that came about after the Black Plague wiped out around 30 million Europeans producing economic disruption. Spain was seeking gold to finance further expeditions abroad and their own war with the Muslims on the home front. Britain was seeking new trade markets for their wool with the collapse of their wool market at home. Another mitigating economic factor was the rising prices created by the flood of American silver into the European market. This caused rates to double on many goods, which benefited the farmers and the merchants, but the majority of people suffered because their wages did not rise proportionately. This increased the number of people living on the fringes of society and thus built up pressure to immigrate to the Americas. Intertwined with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author states that the decision of children playing violent games be left up to them. In the article the author asserts that one argument to allow children to playvideo games that showcase violence is that it can act as a stress reliever and help control their emotions. This argument is a valid one by those who believe this but for those who have a counter argument say that this is not true. The counter argument to video games being helpful is that they are harmful. There is no inbetween or balance between these two sides the author suggests that the two opposing sides will never come to an agreement. The negative side says that video games make children more violent and less capable to deal with real world problems. The argument of Children being allowed to play violent video games is ultimately a decision that a parent would need to make with a compromise between the child and the parent. Cyanide Reaction Lab Report I.INTRODUCTION Cyanide is a chemical compound containing cyano (─C≡N) groups, comprising carbon and nitrogen radicals, and can be found in various organic and inorganic compounds. Some inorganic cyanide compounds such as sodium cyanide (NaCN) and potassium cyanide (KCN) are groups of compounds having negatively charged polyatomic cyanide ions (CN ). This compound is a salt of a highly toxic hydrocyanic acid. Several types of organic cyanides are usually called nitriles, in which the CN group is covalently bonded to a carbon group, such as methyl (CH3) dimethyl cyanide (acetonitrile). Since nitrile compounds do not release free cyanide ions, they are generally less toxic, or in the case of insoluble polymers such as acrylic fibers, essentially ... Nickel in the nickel (II) state is more stable than nickel (0), nickel (I), nickel (III) and nickel (IV). Nickel (I) and nickel (0) are unstable because they are easily oxidized, nickel (III) is easily reduced to nickel (II) and nickel (IV) is rare. Nickel (II) forms a large number of complexes with coordination numbers 6, 5, and 4, which have all major types of structures, namely octahedral, bipiramidal trigonal, pyramidal squares, tetrahedral, and square (Cotton and Wilkinson, 2009). Most nickel complexes adopt octahedron geometry structures, adopt only slightly the geometry of tetrahedron and square. A nickel (II) complex with a strong ligand capable of performing better electron donations, tends to prefer a square structure rather than an octahedral. The commonly known nickel (II) complex compound is a tetracanonic acid (II) ([Ni(CN)4)]2 ) diamagnetic ion. There are three main economic systems of governance. Communism is under the control under one major party that is the only producer, no private property and the goods are available and equal to all. One of the major cons of communism is that it takes away the voice of the people which goes against equality which is very important. Modeling uncertainty for economic effects of echinococcosis were used initially in studies in Tunisia and Jordan (Majorowski et al., 2005; Torgerson et al., 2001). This has many advantages, most notably surveillance data from which the costs of the disease can be calculated are not deterministic and depend, interalia upon sampling error, errors due to diagnosis and problems with bias and underreporting. For financial costs there will be uncertainty in the mean costof treatment due to large variations in the treatment costs of individual patients. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A significant challenge in estimating the burden of echinococcosis is that of missing data. In wealthy countries there are often good data sets from public health statistics or from hospital records. Thus relatively accurate estimates of the incidence of disease can be made. However, most of the burden of echinococcosis is in developing nations with 40% being in China alone (Budke et al., 2006). In many areas even if treatment is available reporting systems are inaccurate and hence there is likely to be significant underestimates of the true numbers affected by the disease. This is illustrated by the estimated 75% underreporting in Chile and Uzbekistan of cystic echinococcosis (Nazirov et al., 2002; Serra et al., 1999). For communities where treatment is largely unavailable such as remote herdsmen communities on the Tibetan plateau most of the data must come from carefully planned surveys which will give an indication of point prevalences based on, for example, cross sectional ultrasound surveillance studies. Such data can be used to model the likely number of cases in society and the disease burden. A further problem is that even utilizing such data, ultrasound will not diagnose pulmonary echinococcosis and therefore this must be accounted for as this could be an additional 10% or more cases. There are different ways of interpreting the world and there are various factors that influence an individual s view of his or her total wellbeing. These factors include spirituality and religious background, beliefs and experiences. According to Funk (2001), a worldview is a set of beliefs that control an individual s thinking, knowing and doing. Individuals adhere to their model of worldview to lay a framework of attitudes about life and the world. Some aspects of worldview are shared by many in the population.
