Thesis Of Chief Joseph s Speech
The thoughts and circumstances of Chief Joseph addressed in his speech involved many examples that
helped support his one main topic. This subject that Chief Joseph was attempting to entail was that
white settlers should not have done what they did to Joseph s people for their wrongdoings affected
them. The words that he proclaimed and spoke was about all the actions done against his people, as
well as, how the modest of treaties do not mean anything at all anymore and unwanted apologizes for
the people and land that he and his people lost tragically. As I was listening to every word being
spoken, I strongly agreed with his reasoning as it was true and upstanding. What the white man did to
his people and their possessions, such as land, game, or rights, was not right and acceptable to
publicity. So yes, but, nevertheless, the white man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of us individually, should support Chief Joseph s speech so people can hear their side of the story
and Chief Joseph s people could receive back from all the loss that they did not deserve. Today, nearly
all confrontations between white and Indian people today are not usually ended softly, due to the
troubled past of both cultures. The side that is most agreeable is the Indian side because they have yet
to get justice or rights for losing what they had back then. This will change all the fighting that is
going on to equality and peace for both races to enjoy. Rising up and giving back what was once their
cultural treasures will show the Indians that not all people are alike and, moreover, that personally do
want peace. All the corruption between both cultures could correct itself if all of us individually could
just recognize the importance of the Indians as together instead of treated oppositely based on what
their culture consists of and how they

Global Climate Change Symposium Observations
On Friday, April 25, 2014, I attend the event Global Climate Change Symposium organized by the
West Valley College Global Citizen and Suitability Committees from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. In this event
the speaker was Dr. Daphane Miller, MD., family physician, writer and Associate Professor in the
department of Family Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Daphane Miller is
also a family physician. One thing that I believe that is sticking to know first and foremost is that she
is a doctor. She sits at her office three days a week and she sees patients all day long and she takes
care of them, one of her many prescriptions to her patients are good eating, among other things. The
mayor focus on Dr. Daphane speech was Farmacology since she said once if you care about your food,
you ultimately have to find out and care about how it is grown and where it comes from.
First of all, Dr. Daphne explains the importance of knowing where our food comes from.
She explain that the solid where plants grown it s very similar to our skin, since they use the same
principal. She explained that the pH from the soil and the ideal pH from a human body are pretty
much exactly the same as well as the carbon to nitrogen ratio from the soil. Then that s what triggers
her mind to think that these similarities were not only coincident, but in effect had everything to do
with each other. This is when she discovers Farmacology, a farm to body lessons that she could learn
in a farm and

A New Meaning Of Poetry
A New Meaning of Poetry
The poems Introduction to Poetry, Poem, Poetry Should Ride the Bus, How Poetry comes to me, How
I Discovered Poetry, and Making It in Poetry express their poet s thoughts on poetry beautifully. Each
poet gives their own interpretation of what poetry means to them. However, each poem carries small
differences and similarities. In the end, each poem has teaches its readers a new way to approach and
appreciate of poetry. To begin, in the poem Introduction to Poetry, Billy Collins wants his readers to
appreciate each poem as a piece of art. He wants his readers to look at the poem and get absorbed into
the emotion of the poem instead of only wondering what the poem means. He uses personification in
this quote tie the poem to a chair with rope/ and torture a confession out of it to express what we do

That each poem also has many different interpretations. For example, Collins state that he asks his
readers to hold...up [the poem] to the light.../ press an ear against its hive.../walk inside...probe [your]

Southwest Airlines Corp. Culture
Introduction
In this paper I have researched in to Southwest Airline, I have focused to write a three to four (3 4)
page paper in which I will, determine how Southwest Airlines corporate culture differs from other
airlines. I will then analyze three (3) ways that Southwest s unique culture has benefited the airline
and its employees and eventually I will speculate how Southwest Airlines would continue to thrive as
a company if its current corporate culture would need to change in the near future. The specific course
learning outcomes associated with this assignment paper are as follows. Examine the private

If an employee has a bad day and if he or she makes a mistake then he/ she is punished for her/his
mistake. She/he is not given promotion. Southwest Airlines treats its employee s right, and the
employees reward the company with loyalty. The profit sharing plan was the first in the airline
industry in 1973.According to Southwest Airlines; their current employee retention rate is 92.3%.
During the times of September 11, 2001, more than 32,000 employees gave back some of their pay.
They did this to help the company through a temporary difficult time. The competitive advantage that
Southwest has over competitors is the benefits, which include free flights. During a time when the
economy is in a recession, many people cannot afford travel by airplane. The employees can reap this
benefit from day one of their employment ( southwest airlines, )
Analyze three (3) ways that Southwest s unique culture has benefited the airline and its employees
Leadership, culture, strategy and coordination are the factors of success in Southwest Airline not only
that but also there are three following ways that Southwest Airline culture has benefited the airline and
its employees. 1 Self actualizing culture, which not only values creativity, task accomplishment but

The Effect Of Maternal Separation On Voldemort And Harry...
The effect of maternal separation on Voldemort, Harry Potter and other characters in the wizardry
world.
By Do Nhat Nam
Throughout the world of Harry Potter, the power of maternal love has been portrayed as being vital
and tremendous. From Harry Potter s mother sacrificing herself for Harry s life to Molly Weasley
defending her daughter Ginny Weasley s life in the Hogwarts battle, the role of a mother has always
been that of a guardian angel that is willing to sacrifice her life for her daughter or son. Without
maternal love through infancy, one would lack a sense of attachment, face trouble establishing
relationships and grasping the concept of affection during adolescence and adulthood. Most Harry
Potter characters were blessed with a mother, yet the two grand protagonist and antagonist Harry
Potter and Lord Voldemort are two exceptions. Both of their mothers, Lily Potter and Merope Gaunt,
passed away at their infancy, yet while Harry Potter became great and righteous, Lord Voldemort
became the most notorious Dark wizard of all time one whose heart lacked compassion, who reeks
with hatred and consumed in rage. In this essay, we will compare and contrast the effect of the lack of
maternal influence on both Voldemort and Harry Potter, and also the importance of maternal love on
different characters in the wizardry world.
I. Love vs. No love
Even though both of their mothers died from their infancy, Harry and Voldemort s mothers died in
very different circumstances.

Tally, an Astonishing Character in the Book Uglies by...
Tally is an exceptional character from the book Uglies who captivates everyone s attention with her
bold personality. Dr. Cable manipulated her by making her go to Smoke all alone, which was an action
of a risk taker. In addition, she accomplished many actions that took true courage while she was
running away from Special Circumstances during the Smoke invasion. Along with these positive
qualities, Tally is a determined girl who will get what she wants when she puts her mind to it. From all
the characters from the book, Tally certainly stand outs from the rest because of her exemplary ways.
To start with, Tally was manipulated, lied to, and she did everything that she was told, and in all the
steps of the way she was a risk taker. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, Tally made a risk for her personal reason, like when she crashed the party to see Peris.
Other times it was to help people that she truly cared and loved about, as when she went to see Maddy
and Az s house with David to see if they were alive. Yet, in all the situations that she took a risk, she
had to have extreme courage.
Tally did many things that took great amounts of courage to do, but the things that took the most
courage happened during the Smoke s invasion. When Tally went to go and talk to Dr.Cable during the
invasion she told her that she throw the pendant on the roof (which was a lie) and when Tally went to
get it a guard came with her. When the guard was struggling on the roof she jumped on the hover
board and started running away from the hoverboards that soon started following her. This was an
action that not anyone would do, only someone with as much courage as Tally. Something else that
Tally did which took courage was, running away from Special Circumstance while they were chasing
her in hoverboards after she was the only Smoky left. While she was running away, she ran into a cave
that she had only been once. Tally didn t have food, water, proper clothing, and light, but she still ran
into the cave to save herself. Many people wouldn t have the courage to do such things, but Tally is so

Essay About Houston

Prof. Andrew Tolle
ENGL 1301 41028
17 September 2017 Houstonians A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has given
readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey tragedy in
Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it goes way
beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of it, and
that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that make Houston unique,
diverse, and capable to rise from it all. Throughout the entire poem Rutledge suggests just how diverse
Houston is. For instance, the lines, pray like you re sitting over Soup at Spanish Flowers or pho at Mai
s steaming your glasses are great examples of this. The difference between both cuisines is huge
emphasizing diversity. For example, Spanish Flowers is a Mexican restaurant ... Show more content

one of music s top selling artists with sold out tours and a slew of awards. By putting Beyoncé in the
poem Rutledge universalizes Houston and reaches out to a whole other group other than Houston
itself. Rutledge also implies that like Beyoncé Houston can rise from nothing. Along the same lines,
Rutledge says you can fill up our bayou but you will never rain on our parade . Meaning Hurricane
Harvey can rain and flood their river but never lower their spirits. Just like Beyoncé fell many times
but stayed strong and rose from it all. Beyoncé is an outstanding example to universalize and show

Deborah Blakely Research Paper
Background: Sarah Blakely, the founder and owner of Spanx, was born February 27, 1971 in
Clearwater, Florida. As a daughter of a trial attorney and artist, Blakely originally planned to pursue a
career in law. Though, due to poor LSAT scores she opted for a job at Disney World. After Disney,
Blakely accepted a job at an office supply company Danka where she sold fax machines door to door.
For this job, she was required to wear pantyhose. While she liked the seamless undergarment with
control top that eliminated panty lines , she disliked the seamed foot while wearing open toed shoes.
So one evening she experimented by cutting off the bottom of her pantyhose and then wore them

First, persistence is essential for success. She demonstrated how often you will be turned away or
rejected when starting a business but it s important to keep going. There were many times she could
have decided it was too much work or too hard. But instead, she continue to promote her idea and kept
pursuing individuals to help her reach her goal. From reading about her success, it was clear she
worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot persistence. The second lesson
I learned from Blakely is to believe in yourself. She didn t have any experience designing clothing or
manufacturing a product, but she believed in herself. She did the research into designing a patent,
contacted several manufacturing mills (even driving across state lines) and further promoted her
product in stores. Even though she didn t have any financial support or an established company behind
her, she believed in her product and her capabilities. The third lesson, it s not wrong to view your
competition. In the past, I might have thought it was a little cheating or considered sneaky to find the
flaws in your competitors products. But realistically, it s a very smart business move. She taught me
look for opportunities even if it s comparing your product to the competition. I believe this strategy
really helped her product sell better than the other

Kim Jong Sung By Kim Il Sung
Kim Il Sung, originally born Kim Song ju, was born on April 15, 1912. Kim was born in a dark time
for the Koreans due to the occupation of Korea by Japan. It was around this time when North Koreans
grew tired of being Japan s puppets, and they were ready for a true Korean to stand up for them and
take back their beloved country. Kim IL Sung was not born to become anyone important, and he was
certainly not born to become the future dictator of North Korea. Kim s family came from nowhere
special they were ordinary farmers who kept to themselves and kept their Christian beliefs close to
their hearts. Kim did not have the same faith his family had; in fact he did not care much for religion
at all. Kim s main interest growing up was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once in the army Kim learned a great deal about politics and communism from his boss Wei
Zhengmin. Kim became part of a Korean guerilla group, and with his help his group became
notoriously known for their attacks. Eventually these guerrilla groups became a big enough threat that
Japan posted rewards for any information on these guerilla groups, and over time Japan attempted to
eliminate as many of these guerrilla groups as possible. Those groups that managed to evade Japan,
Kim il Sung was among them, found refuge in the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union trained and armed
these guerilla groups. Kim quickly became known for his leadership skills and his knowledge in both
communism and politics his growing popularity with the Russians gained Kim more connections with
the Russians and the Chinese. When World War 2 was almost over the Korean Peninsula was cut at the
38 parallel line by the U.S. after the war ended the Soviet Union gained control of the Northern half of
the peninsula while the United States gained control of the southern half. At the time Joseph Stalin
was the dictator of the Soviet Union and he was not sure who he should appoint leader of North

Social Media: The Platform for New Activism It was the third semester of my freshman year in high

school. I was scrolling through my Instagram timeline instead of finishing my homework when my
mom asked me to cut on FOX 5 News. Now that the television was on, it gave me another excuse to
procrastinate even more. My eyes were glued to the television as reporters talked about events that
deserved no air time, when suddenly the segment began to air. The reporter said a black teen, named
Trayvon Martin had been shot and killed in Stanford, Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer. She
said the story was still developing and information would be coming. It was relayed later that day that
the neighborhood watch volunteer followed and shot Martin because he looked suspicious and up to
no good, also known as black. I was so shocked. I mean, I knew that hate crimes against black people
existed, but I could not tell someone a case in which it had happened recently. Talk of Trayvon Martin

Aspects of Home Schooling Essay
Aspects of Home Schooling
Do parents always know what is best for their child? When a parent says that they want to home
school their child are they making the right decision? After all, parents are the ones that teach their
children how to walk and talk. After all, they are the ones that are most interested in making sure that
their child receives the best education, why shouldn t they be the ones to teach their children? Being
home schooled can have both a positive and negative effect on a child.
One such reason why it would be beneficial for a child to be home schooled is to teach values and
morals to the child. Children often learn things at a young age that they should not know; such as
vulgar language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Field experiences provide learning experiences that can not be found in text books (HSLDA.com).
Also having a wide age range of students can benefit both the younger and older students, since it is
possible that both age groups can learn to appreciate each other as well as learn from one another.
There is less pressure on the student who is home schooled since they have as much time as they need
to do the assignment. If a child is ahead in their studies, they do not have to wait to other students, but
a home schooled child can move on and become more productive When a child is home schooled they
are able to go at a pace that is best for them.
However, when deciding whether to place a child in a public school or whether to home school a
child, it is best to take into account the possible cons of home schooling. The parent, now teacher,
must keep in mind that their job is to educate their child. All other career possibilities or aspirations
must be put on hold. The parent s main focus must now be on educating their child. The parent must
be willing to take out the time and energy to devote themselves to education.
Also, the curriculum has become increasingly harder over the years. Children are being taught certain
concepts must earlier than in the past. The parent must keep in mind that they may not have had the
same degree of education in each and every subject. It may

Progesterone
Progesterone is a steroid hormone that belongs to a group of sex hormones called progestogen. It is
secreted primarily by the placenta (during pregnancy), the corpus luteum and adrenal glands. The
corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is produced in a female body after ovulation and is
involved in the early stages of pregnancy. If the eggs are not fertilised, the corpus luteum reverts to a
corpus albicans and menstruation takes place. If the egg is fertilized, then progesterone is secreted by
the placenta.
Progesterone has the chemical formula of C21H30O2. Progesterone is composed of three 6 carbon
rings and one 5 carbon ring fused together, satisfying the the structure of a steroid. It contains two
ketone groups as well as an alkene group and is a hydrophobic molecule. Progesterone s main function
is to prepare the lining of the uterus to accept a fertilized egg and allow for further development into a
fetus. During pregnancy, progesterone allows for the development of the milk producing glands in the
breasts. Progesterone is also a neurosteroid that allows for normal brain function. It protects the brain

are specific to progesterone. The RNA that was formed is transformed into new protein. This entire
process changes the metabolic character of the cell allowing for the cell to carry out tasks specific to

Analysis Of The Story Red Convertible The Two Brothers
In the short story Red Convertible the two brothers, as close as they are, you really never know how
someone is or feels or acts unless you truly know what they ve been through or if you are them and
have gone through what they ve been through. The brother have always been close they re whole life
but the split really changes one. Lyman and Henry really have a true connection with each other. The
car they bought together without really thinking twice about it and they shared it really just shows us
that the brothers have a stronger bond then most because they were both broke they spent every dollar
they had on the car, both of them. Another example in the story that shows us the bond they have is
when they pick up Susie the hitchhiker and they ask her where to? And she says Alaska. The two
brothers almost immediately say lets go, no second questions and in the new car they just got. They
are both in sync with each other. The trip is really important to the relationship of Lyman and Henry
because they get there and they stay for a little bit where the unpredictable growth of plants is just
crazy and the cold weather but they bond through it and Susie s family puts up a tent in the backyard
for them. Just in the matter of how they both are just friendly buys them a ticket to stay with Susie s
family, the kids also just are always playing with them, that shows us that they are really great people
to be around because of the friendly bond they have with each other. The fact

For a water system that had become far to acidic and nothing is living. A process called freshwater de
acidification will spring the the water into becoming healthy again. The process starts with add the
lime directly to the water body. However in the cases of certain lakes where the turnaround is very
quick, the lime is added to the body of water. This has disadvantages though, the main one being that
the lime can have an adverse effect on wetland species of plants The advantages, however, are that the
effects are longer lasting and metals are prevented from leaching into the lake water from the soil. The
alkalinity of the limed lake is increased, the pH increased and heavy metal concentrations decrease
back to within safe limits for fish life. The number of species of fish, animals and plankton increases
as does biomass production. The chemical equation for liming water is CaCO3(s) + H2SO4(aq) ⇨
CaSO4*2H2O + CO2(g). If your soil or forest becomes too acidic a process called liming will help.

male counterparts. Yet, the patriarchy has brainwashed women to believe that they have to seek out a
romantic, male partner. The patriarchy also has brainwashed women to stay quiet when her romantic
partner is speaking negatively towards her or about her. At least, that is what many people seem to
believe. There are women who are trying to fight against the war on male dominance. Even if these
women are catching other women s attention, there is still a long road until women and men are
equals. Some men are still going to speak poorly towards women, and often those they see as a lover
or romance partner. Even Aristotle spoke poorly of women and felt that men held the dominant role in
the relationship. Some heterosexual men speak negatively about heterosexual women during the
dating stage of a relationship because these men feel that they have to reinforce dominance in the
relationship. One thing to consider when talking about modern day heterosexual women in relation to
men is culture. Cultural differences in different countries varies. Like F. Scott Christopher, liberal arts
and Science professor at Arizona State University says, [T]he rules of relationship and the meaning of
aggression in a relationship may vary from culture to culture (qtd. Goodwin 769). Culture has a major
effect on how relationships are conducted. So what Americans consider is aggressive, may not be

The Border Patrol State Summary
Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in
the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints.
In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US
Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these
arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a
result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos.
Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For
example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through
a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The
nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about
page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would
or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of
Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American.
Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal

Internet Addiction Disorder
Internet Addiction Disorder Computer and the Internet become useful tools in every day life. People
are able to work on line, chat, play games, or do their businesses. Although Internet brings many
advantages it also carry a variety of dangers, including the possibility of addiction.
Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is a new kind of addiction, which manifests itself in an excessive
computer use that usually collides with person s daily life.
The fundamental problem of IAD is not a computer. Person is not addicted to the machine but to the
emotional states that arise as a result of his/her own activities accomplished by the computer and

addiction can be defined, as an impulse control disorder, yet does not cause intoxication. She created
the Internet Addiction Diagnostic Questionnaire (IADQ) to diagnose this disorder. Internet addiction
has a significant impact on the deterioration in the following areas of human functioning: social,
professional and psychological. Dr. Young specify the criteria of which five have to be met before
someone is consider an addict.
Questions diagnosing these criteria are:
Do you feel preoccupied with the Internet (think about previous or subsequent stays in the network)?
Do you feel the need to use the Internet for longer periods of time?
Have you had many unsuccessful attempts to control the time limit or stop Internet use?
Did you feel restless, moody, irritated, depressed when you tried to reduce their time on the Internet or
stop using it?
Do you stay online longer than originally planned?
Do you risk losing important relationships, work, career or study because of the internet?
Have you tricked a family therapists, relatives or to hide the growing problem of Internet?

The Food Contamination By Bisphenol A Is Unknown, But The...
The overall food contamination by Bisphenol A is unknown, but the nutrition/ health impact of this
chemical is an important subject to be discussed for all individuals. The main aim of one study
recently analyzed was to assess the reproductive impact of BPA leached from regularly available
polycarbonate plastic containers. The bottles specifically chosen for testing were those that were used
by children. The migration of BPA occurs in polycarbonate plastics (i.e. water bottles and baby
bottles). Toxicology reports show society the importance of evaluating these products before purchase
and consumption as a consumer. For a particular experiment, researchers used Daphnia Magna, a
small flea that cleans and absorbs particles that infect the solution they are placed in, and bred them in
the polycarbonate containers. A control group was created using water bottles without the infection of
these creatures. A GC MS machine to detect the level of BPA released by each polycarbonate plastic
then evaluated the water. An increase in the reproduction of BPA was detected when the Daphnia
Magna were bred inside the container. Although these organisms effected the leaching of Bisphenol A,
the GC MS was able to detect, through the control group, that BPA is released without DM. An Eco
toxicological effect was observed through all of this testing, and provided evidence to substantiate the
fact that Bisphenol A is leached from polycarbonate plastics. The BPA was further analyzed in the

Essay on Emergency Contraception
The idea of Emergency Contraception is not a new to society, however it is still igniting many debates
just as it did when it was first introduced to the United States. Emergency contraception continues to
be a highly emotional and controversial issue, both for advocates who believe EC will lower the
number of unintended pregnancies and abortions, and for opponents who believe that using EC
amounts to an abortion. The controversy fueling this debate centers around one of the ways that
emergency contraception works. Emergency contraception can prevent or delay ovulation, affect the
movement of the egg or sperm: making them less likely to meet, it can also interfere with the
fertilization process and prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. ... Show more content on

Some argue that a girl can get an abortion without parental notification in some states, so why not Plan
B. While parents would like their children to wait as long as possible to begin having sex, the reality is
that teens are having sex much younger than many parents think. Some teens, or preteens, begin
having sex or engaging in sexual behavior in junior high. By the time they are seniors in high school,
an estimated 65 percent of teens have had sex, according to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention s Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 2007. (Dawn, 2009). Unfortunately, a percentage of those
teens will become pregnant. After more than a decade and a half of decline (a 27 percent drop from
1991 to 2000), teen birth rates rose again in 2006, which was the last year for which data are available.
It is still unclear on what caused teen birth rates to rise again, with supporters of abstinence only sex
education programs and contraception based programs each blaming the other side for the increase.
However, a 2007 study in the Journal of American Public Health attributed the trend in decreasing
pregnancy rates to improved contraception use among teens during that time. (Anderson Orr, 2009).

Overburdening Poin Sports
In Detroit, a youth soccer coach named Marilyn Enmark has seen enough of parents overburdening
their children. In 2004, one of Enmark s players on the youth soccer team she coaches, a seven year

went up to the boy and instead of helping him, the father reprimanded the poor boy. A week later, after

to become the next famous sports player. Although, some parents let those dreams get the best of them

African Americans And The American Revolution
In their demands for liberty and equality, African Americans would point to their role in all of America
s wars. Many fought for liberty in the American Revolution, like Philadelphia s James Forten who
served aboard an American privateer. God created all men equal. Why are they not being treated
equally? Blacks and whites should be protected by the same laws and privileges. James Forten was a
freeborn African American who had a nice job and was very wealthy for his time. Forten says, Whilst
so much is being done in the world, to ameliorate the condition of mankind, and the spirit of Freedom
is marching with rapid strides and causing tyrants to tremble, may America awake from the apathy in
which she has long slumbered. The northern states were slowly starting to abolish slavery and some
the whites in Pennsylvania did not like all of the free slaves in their state still. Pennsylvania was once
a refuge for free African Americans. Forten demanded to be treated the same as whites and have full
citizenship. I agree that African Americans are created equally and should be protected by the same
laws. The legal principles James Forten used were the Declaration of Independence and the
Constitution. Those two documents are the most important in American history. Forten appealed to
what God has spoken. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27) His ideas were formed by Thomas Paine and other

Qualities of an Effective Teacher
What it means to be an effective teacher
Introduction
An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is the
ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional
objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance,
efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into
consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active
participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class, socioeconomic
conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a student to perform
well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the video links Pre
primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the techniques and methods
associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must develop over the course of
the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying teacher effectiveness include
pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective teacher employs creativity in the
classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher. Creativity involves qualities like
imagination, originality, and self expression. The teacher should encourage the use of imagination as
implied in the video footage. Imagination

A Health Care Power of Attorney should not be confused with a living will, even though both are
considered Advance Health Care Directives . This is because instructions are given on what shall
happen in the event that the person becomes unable to make future health care decisions on his/her
own. A Living Will only allows the person to express his/her wishes concerning life sustaining
procedures. Health Care Power of Attorney becomes effective only when one does not have the
capacity to give or withdraw informed consent regarding one s health care. General, special or health
care power of attorney that contains special durability provisions is a durable power of attorney. For
example, if a person becomes mentally incompetent while already having a valid power of attorney
document, a durability provision will allow this document to stay in effect. Such a document can be
signed to prepare for the possibility of a client becoming mentally incompetent due to illness or an
accident. In this scenario, the power of attorney would not go into effect unless a doctor certifies that
the person is mentally incapacitated. It is important to select someone of trust to be an agent. The
durable power of attorney ends upon the death of the principal. In some states, if a spouse is the
attorney in fact, a divorce will automatically terminate the durable power of attorney. In most cases,

The Factors Of Political Socialization
Cheryl Lee
Robin Datta
November 13, 2015
Exam #2
Similar to many of the things we are introduced to growing up as humans, our political knowledge is
one of the things that does not derive from one specific source. Our thoughts on politics is constantly
evolving and maturing as we encounter different agents throughout our lives. These agents of political
socialization include our family, our education, the media, and many more. They shape our values and
beliefs from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Our family environment contributes to
our interest in politics in the future, our education teaches us the fundamentals of American
government and politics, and lastly the media continuously shapes our view of the government. All
three of these agents, are crucial in allowing us to understand ourselves and our beliefs today. Many
intellects will argue that family is one of the most important agents in regards to political socialization
(cite). This comes as no surprise, as children we are incapable of making rational decisions for
ourselves. Thus, our parents and family members are tasked with making the best possible choices for
us instead. In fact, as children we want to please our parents so we are receptive to their views, this
includes political beliefs. (Stockwell, Chapter 6: Public Opinion, Political Socialization, and the
Media.) Furthermore, our family can also have an effect on how we view politics in our future.

Comparing Sauron s Ring And The Lord Of The Rings
At its core, Manicheans believe that the universe is centrally dominated by two competing forces of
good and evil. The good forces represent the light side while the bad/evil forces are the dark side. By
taking a Manichianist view, we are acknowledging an idea that evil is a real force/presence in its own
right. According to this view, evil is equally as powerful as the good and the two sides are in a state of
eternal war. I think a movie like The Lord of the Rings can arguably represent a Manichean story.
Specifically, I think that Sauron s Ring represents something that is inherently evil. In this case,
Sauron s Ring does not represent something that lacks goodness, but is rather some type of evil force
that has no other purpose besides pure evil. The entirety of the series depicts the struggle between to
forces of good (i.e. the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view contends that everything that exists is inherently good and thus anything that is viewed as
evil simply means that it s inherent goodness is lacking and/or absent and/or corrupted. Another facet
of this Platonic thought towards this form of the good is that Plato also asserts the claim that the less
perfect that something is, or the less amount of goodness that a person/object contains, the less real
that thing is in the physical world. In this case, evil is simply an illusion instead of some powerful
force that is pitted against the good. Perhaps this is why Christians were so willing to accept it. If all
evil is simply a result of a lack of goodness, then all things are able to be saved if we can find a way to
restore the goodness of an individual or an object through the work of ministry. According to
Rowlands, Plato s thought of the forms also instilled a notion of the non physical existence of a soul
and Christians utilized Plato s ideas of perfect forms to envision what heaven would be

Rhetorical Analysis Of Patton s Speech
This is a rhetorical analysis of Lieutenant General George S. Patton s Speech to the Third United
States Army. It was a very successful speech given to the troops of the United States Third Army in
1944 before the invasion of France. After examining the genre, purpose of this speech, General Patton
s audience, and how General Patton used ethos, logos, and pathos we can see why this iconic speech
was so successful.
First we will take a look at the genre of this piece. The genre is very important in literature because
they are like guidelines that outline what your piece should have in it. For example if someone wanted
you to write a speech you would look at examples of other speeches and see how they get a point
across. You would not for instance look at a series of papers under the Lab Report genre for ideas on
how to write a speech. When General George S. Patton was tasked with speaking in front of thousands
of troops the speech genre was the appropriate way to address so many people.
Secondly this speech is very focused on a purpose, to motivate the listener, give confidence, and hope.
General George S. Patton motivates by taking in consideration for his audience and exploiting it. The
listeners are all inexperienced soldiers who are scared of going into combat for the first time. Patton
already has a reputation of being a hardcore successful, seasoned general. Everyone looks up to him
and he uses lines such as That s why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. to motivate
people. When the soldiers of the Third Army hear Patton talk about how All real Americans love to
fight it motivates all these very patriotic people because they link their love of country to loving the
fight. Another great is example is when Patton states And we have the best team we have the finest
food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. Why, by God, I actually pity these
poor bastards we re going up against. . Patton is making everything sound great saying that they have
the best of everything, that they can t lose, and even that they have it so good he actually feels sorry
for the people they are going up against. These examples are textbook motivation and it really makes

Comparing The Jungle And How The Other Half Lives
Society has led us to believe that what doesn t kill you actually makes you stronger. That there is no
gain without pain. That a man s blood, sweat, and tears will be all worth the struggle. The Roman poet
Horace even once said that adversity can bring out talents which in a successful environment, would
not exist. With all these assurances that difficult circumstances will meritable, it is hard to picture
Horace s statement being challenged. However, in the books, The Jungle, and How the Other Half

mentioned. For example, within, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Jurgis, a Lithuanian immigrant, came
to America with his family for the American Dream. Eventually, they fall into fiscal trouble, and
Jurgis old father, Antennas, is forced to perform grueling work until he dies from it. Additionally,

Throughout the night, the people of Galveston fought to survive. Buildings and homes began

Many survivors, including Isaac, his three daughters and brother, spent the night clinging to the

By the morning, floodwaters had drained back into the sea. The corpses of people and animals lay

Aging Population Issues Paper
I believe the most pressing issue facing the aging population on a daily basis is financial security
while living on a fixed income. Aging individuals sources of income include Social Security,
employment, private pensions, and assets. The median household income for those 65 and older in
2007 was only $27, 798 (Hooyman Kiyak, 2011). I chose financial security as the most pressing issue
facing the older population because it influences several other areas. Sources of income for the aging
population are sometimes insufficient to maintain proper housing, may cause health problems, and
restricts access to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The difficulty that the lack of financial

Effects of Acidic Depositon
The graph shows the pH value of acid rain water affecting crops in Vietnam. The two bar charts
represent two different places in Vietnam: Hoa Binh and Ha Noi. The graph proves that the frequency
of rain with below a pH of 5 is more frequent than above 5. This pH value results in the crops growing
less.
Like Vietnam, Canada is also facing issues with acidic deposition. A case study done by un.org claims
that The North American Maple is dying at a rate of 2.3% for each 100 exceedance units due to the
loss of calcium and other nutrients from soils. Lakes and streams are also remaining too acidic or are
not recovering to the point where they cannot support sensitive fish and aquatic biota. The result is
aquatic ecosystems that are unable to support a variety of species; therefore, biodiversity continues to
remain below pre acidification levels.
After reviewing different examples of how pH affects other types of plants and seeds and the scientific
information of acid rain, it is now clear that the optimum pH for plant growth is between 5.5 and 7. It
is also evident that acidic solution affects the growth rate, in which the pH s with a low value slow
down the growth process. There were a low number of seeds germinated in the pH of 1.65 and 2.11
due to the fact that seeds do not germinate efficiently at acidic solutions. However, they do germinate
at solutions of between 5.5 and 6.5. There is a chance that there was a decline at pH 5 (the anomaly)

Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump
Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both
considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero
because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the
same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a
hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained
faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and
lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest
Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared
as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem
originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early
example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power.
The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of
justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others.
His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self
assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the
time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear,
as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon
hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the
dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying,
When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which
of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this
monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. As

(Chaney, 3.) To continue, the Buddha said in his teaching that life is dukkha, the exact translation of
the word to English is unknown, but most believe it is suffering. However, even things such as
happiness and success eventually become dukkha. According to Buddha, life is impermanent and is
constantly changing. Buddha Gotama said to his disciples, Impermanent, subject to change, are
component things. Strive on with heedfulness (Thera, 6). This simply means that life and anything in
the world is constantly changing. For example, you could win an award for being an outstanding
athlete, but the happiness that brings is only short term. Life is dukkha and the happiness it brings will
quickly subside. Buddha wanted his followers to realize the impermanence of life, and the dynamic
changes that happen on a daily basis. This learning experience would provide a key into understanding
what suffering is, and why every human shares the same common theme of suffering. As humans, we
continually push ourselves to reach goals that we set for ourselves. However, the Buddha believes that
this thirst for success only disappoints us because we are constantly trying to push barriers that we
sometimes cannot physically

Taking a Look at Maritime Security
Maritime security is an extremely broad area of concern. It covers everything terrorism, the physical
security of ports and ships right through to the security of energy resources into the future.
Introduction:
The Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is a significant and strategic locality within the 21st century. It is
important to a number of countries, including many key players of the region. The large waters of the
IOR make it a strategic thoroughfare for international sea lanes as part of global maritime trade and
sea commerce. This will create various maritime boundaries, disputes and choke points, which is an
important security challenge of the IOR. The IOR is a vast energy and resource filled environment,
which makes it a security challenge for competing states. Another security concern within the IOR is
that of asymmetrical threats. These threats will target the energy/resource sector as well as the various
vessels that cross the IOR. Crime, including that of piracy, human trafficking and smuggling is an
imperative issue that regularly occurs within the IOR. These are the principal maritime security
challenges in the IOR and provide all states, which operate in the region, a difficult task in countering
these issues.
Maritime Boundaries/ Disputes:
The large and vast nature of the IOR makes it a given medium in which conflict occurs.
Approximately 42% of the world s conflicts, can be linked to countries within the IOR. Some of these
conflicts include the Middle East

Social Media Addiction And Internet Addiction
Relationship between Social Media Addiction and Internet Privacy: Informal community clients can
share diverse bits of individual data with others; in any case, these subtle elements might be abused by
companions. Net and Acuity s review (2005) of Facebook clients protection concerns found that 91
percent of clients uploaded their photos, 88 percent shared their date of birth, 40 percent demonstrated
their telephone number, and 51 percent composed their present address. Sharing individual data, for
example, this can lead to abuse of information, regardless of whether purposeful or not. For instance, a
few people share profile subtle elements such as their full name, sexual orientation and telephone
number with their companions (Wills Zeljkovic., 2011). On the off chance that the informal
community account of one of the client s companions is hacked, the spammer or the programmer can
abuse these points of interest to blackmail the client (Rosenblum 2007). The capacity to control
protection alternatives is basic to expanding the clients trust in their interpersonal organization
suppliers. Since Internet clients speak to a scope of various societies and ages, protection alternatives
ought to be clear, basic and simple to utilize. Clients must be able to control their protection choices
whenever. These protection alternatives enable clients to acknowledge or dismiss the scattering of
their data to others. For instance, a few clients would

Essay about Wal-Mart Formal Case Analysis-Swot
Wal Mart Formal Case analysis June 2007 SWOT Analysis The SWOT Analysis is a strategic
planning method used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a
business, in order to reach its objectives. Wal Mart objective is to always offer low prices and to
become the number one largest retailer in the world. Strengths refer to the attributes of the
organization that help achieving its objectives. First of all, Wal Mart is one of the largest retailers in
the world. Its size it allows Wal Mart to control suppliers, to control competitors and to open stores
wherever they want. Their international presence contributes to its power. Having the second largest
net sales in the world, this company is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well, the world s economy is not at its best moments, people become more preoccupied about
price, and use this as the number one shopping criteria. On top, Wal Mart has the ability to diversify
their products and service offerings. They could add travel agencies, kindergartens, cleaning services,
tax services and much more. Another good opportunity is to improve in the areas they were criticized
before, such as employee benefits and medical coverage, employees wages and even environmental
issues as pollution. Wal Mart could also focus on its online sales, as it is becoming the new shopping
trend. Many opportunities await this retailer in the future. Threats refer to the external conditions
which could damage to the business s performance. A major threat to Wal Mart s expansion is its
negligence to adapt to local markets. This will automatically lead to negative response from the
populations and low sales. They might believe that their culture can apply everywhere, but failures as
Germany proves them wrong. The slowing economy decreases people s incremental income
decreasing the number of sales. Moreover, locally and globally Wal Mart can become the target of
competitors. Mergers and acquisitions among opponents can pose a serious problem to its expansion.
For example if Target and K mart merge they might become the world s largest retailer. Also, RFID
could be a threat to

Don John And Don Pedro Character Analysis
Battling Brothers
Don John, the Prince s brother, was a villain, (Shakespeare IV.ii.33 34)
The obvious conflict between Don John and Don Pedro develops the story of Much Ado About
Nothing. The men s differing interests create climactic deception and frustration. However, other
characters in the play do not always recognize this conflict, which accelerates Shakespeare s comic
conventions. The foil of these two characters and their actions emphasize particular character traits
between the families as well. In summary, Don John and Don Pedro s contrast proves important to the
function of the play because it creates conflict, builds dramatic irony, and develops characterization.
The majority of conflicts that occur in the play center around the contrast between Don John and Don
Pedro. Don John s strong envy for his brother, Don Pedro, initiates most of the disruptions. Don John
admits that he, had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in his [Don Pedro s] grace, (Shakespeare
I.iii.21). He commits to the promise of destroying Don Pedro, which he plans to uphold for the rest of
his life. For instance, when Don Pedro tries to influence the marriage of Claudio and Hero in Acts I
and II, Don John immediately tries to ruin his brother s reputation by spreading rumors. Don John
elaborates a fabricated story to Claudio, mentioning that Don Pedro loves Hero and wants her for
himself. Don Pedro and other characters fortunately exploit Don John s lies and intentions, which aim

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of
weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an
important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the
composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used
various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the
WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the
introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal
microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite,
polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular
ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as
dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the
acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium
oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic
element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of

The Tragedy Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Essay
Science is a broad field that encompasses many aspects of everyday life and existence. Some areas of
science include the study of the universe, environment, dinosaurs, animals and insects. Another
popular science is the study of people and how they work. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, Dr. Victor
Frankenstein is a scientist who studies inspiring the dead. He wants to be the first person to give life to
a dead human being. all their time to focus on this goal renounces his family and friends passed, and.
When finally this is achieved, everything crumbles. So, Victor Frankenstein is to blame for the
tragedy, not the monster he has created, because he is the mastermind behind the whole operation,
which is supposed to have everything under control, working properly as a good scientist should do.
Although some critics say the monster Victor has created is to blame for the destruction and violence
following the experiment is Victor, who is the responsible party. First, Victor, being the scientist,
should have known how to do research on the subject much more than what he had done. It was
obvious that he has not thought about the consequences that can result from it, as the monster going
crazy, how do you react monster people and things, and especially the time it will take to turn the
monster in the perfect being normal human. Obviously, this is something that could take a very long
time and a lot of patience, which lacks Victor. All Victor really wants is to be the first to

  • 2. Thesis Of Chief Joseph s Speech The thoughts and circumstances of Chief Joseph addressed in his speech involved many examples that helped support his one main topic. This subject that Chief Joseph was attempting to entail was that white settlers should not have done what they did to Joseph s people for their wrongdoings affected them. The words that he proclaimed and spoke was about all the actions done against his people, as well as, how the modest of treaties do not mean anything at all anymore and unwanted apologizes for the people and land that he and his people lost tragically. As I was listening to every word being spoken, I strongly agreed with his reasoning as it was true and upstanding. What the white man did to his people and their possessions, such as land, game, or rights, was not right and acceptable to publicity. So yes, but, nevertheless, the white man ... All of us individually, should support Chief Joseph s speech so people can hear their side of the story and Chief Joseph s people could receive back from all the loss that they did not deserve. Today, nearly all confrontations between white and Indian people today are not usually ended softly, due to the troubled past of both cultures. The side that is most agreeable is the Indian side because they have yet to get justice or rights for losing what they had back then. This will change all the fighting that is going on to equality and peace for both races to enjoy. Rising up and giving back what was once their cultural treasures will show the Indians that not all people are alike and, moreover, that personally do want peace. All the corruption between both cultures could correct itself if all of us individually could just recognize the importance of the Indians as together instead of treated oppositely based on what their culture consists of and how they ... • 3. Global Climate Change Symposium Observations On Friday, April 25, 2014, I attend the event Global Climate Change Symposium organized by the West Valley College Global Citizen and Suitability Committees from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. In this event the speaker was Dr. Daphane Miller, MD., family physician, writer and Associate Professor in the department of Family Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Daphane Miller is also a family physician. One thing that I believe that is sticking to know first and foremost is that she is a doctor. She sits at her office three days a week and she sees patients all day long and she takes care of them, one of her many prescriptions to her patients are good eating, among other things. The mayor focus on Dr. Daphane speech was Farmacology since she said once if you care about your food, you ultimately have to find out and care about how it is grown and where it comes from. First of all, Dr. Daphne explains the importance of knowing where our food comes from. She explain that the solid where plants grown it s very similar to our skin, since they use the same principal. She explained that the pH from the soil and the ideal pH from a human body are pretty much exactly the same as well as the carbon to nitrogen ratio from the soil. Then that s what triggers her mind to think that these similarities were not only coincident, but in effect had everything to do with each other. This is when she discovers Farmacology, a farm to body lessons that she could learn in a farm and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A New Meaning Of Poetry A New Meaning of Poetry The poems Introduction to Poetry, Poem, Poetry Should Ride the Bus, How Poetry comes to me, How I Discovered Poetry, and Making It in Poetry express their poet s thoughts on poetry beautifully. Each poet gives their own interpretation of what poetry means to them. However, each poem carries small differences and similarities. In the end, each poem has teaches its readers a new way to approach and appreciate of poetry. To begin, in the poem Introduction to Poetry, Billy Collins wants his readers to appreciate each poem as a piece of art. He wants his readers to look at the poem and get absorbed into the emotion of the poem instead of only wondering what the poem means. He uses personification in this quote tie the poem to a chair with rope/ and torture a confession out of it to express what we do with poems (356). We the readers should instead, pay attention to the rhyme and style of the word. That each poem also has many different interpretations. For example, Collins state that he asks his readers to hold...up [the poem] to the light.../ press an ear against its hive.../walk inside...probe [your] way out. Collins style is similar to the style used in the Poem by William Carlos Williams. He uses a cat to movements in the jamcloset to explain to his reader how we should read poetry. • 6. The Effect Of Maternal Separation On Voldemort And Harry... The effect of maternal separation on Voldemort, Harry Potter and other characters in the wizardry world. By Do Nhat Nam Throughout the world of Harry Potter, the power of maternal love has been portrayed as being vital and tremendous. From Harry Potter s mother sacrificing herself for Harry s life to Molly Weasley defending her daughter Ginny Weasley s life in the Hogwarts battle, the role of a mother has always been that of a guardian angel that is willing to sacrifice her life for her daughter or son. Without maternal love through infancy, one would lack a sense of attachment, face trouble establishing relationships and grasping the concept of affection during adolescence and adulthood. Most Harry Potter characters were blessed with a mother, yet the two grand protagonist and antagonist Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort are two exceptions. Both of their mothers, Lily Potter and Merope Gaunt, passed away at their infancy, yet while Harry Potter became great and righteous, Lord Voldemort became the most notorious Dark wizard of all time one whose heart lacked compassion, who reeks with hatred and consumed in rage. In this essay, we will compare and contrast the effect of the lack of maternal influence on both Voldemort and Harry Potter, and also the importance of maternal love on different characters in the wizardry world. I. Love vs. No love Even though both of their mothers died from their infancy, Harry and Voldemort s mothers died in very different circumstances. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Cable manipulated her by making her go to Smoke all alone, which was an action of a risk taker. In addition, she accomplished many actions that took true courage while she was running away from Special Circumstances during the Smoke invasion. Along with these positive qualities, Tally is a determined girl who will get what she wants when she puts her mind to it. Sometimes, Tally made a risk for her personal reason, like when she crashed the party to see Peris. Other times it was to help people that she truly cared and loved about, as when she went to see Maddy and Az s house with David to see if they were alive. Yet, in all the situations that she took a risk, she had to have extreme courage. Tally did many things that took great amounts of courage to do, but the things that took the most courage happened during the Smoke s invasion. When Tally went to go and talk to Dr.Cable during the invasion she told her that she throw the pendant on the roof (which was a lie) and when Tally went to get it a guard came with her. When the guard was struggling on the roof she jumped on the hover board and started running away from the hoverboards that soon started following her. This was an action that not anyone would do, only someone with as much courage as Tally. Something else that Tally did which took courage was, running away from Special Circumstance while they were chasing her in hoverboards after she was the only Smoky left. While she was running away, she ran into a cave that she had only been once. Tally didn t have food, water, proper clothing, and light, but she still ran into the cave to save herself. • 8. Essay About Houston Beatriz Gaona Prof. Andrew Tolle ENGL 1301 41028 17 September 2017 Houstonians A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has given readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey tragedy in Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it goes way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and struggles of it, and that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that make Houston unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all. Throughout the entire poem Rutledge suggests just how diverse Houston is. For instance, the lines, pray like you re sitting over Soup at Spanish Flowers or pho at Mai s steaming your glasses are great examples of this. The difference between both cuisines is huge emphasizing diversity. For example, Spanish Flowers is a Mexican restaurant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along the same lines, Rutledge says you can fill up our bayou but you will never rain on our parade . Meaning Hurricane Harvey can rain and flood their river but never lower their spirits. From reading about her success, it was clear she worked extremely hard to get where she is today and it came from a lot persistence. The second lesson I learned from Blakely is to believe in yourself. She didn t have any experience designing clothing or manufacturing a product, but she believed in herself. She did the research into designing a patent, contacted several manufacturing mills (even driving across state lines) and further promoted her product in stores. Even though she didn t have any financial support or an established company behind her, she believed in her product and her capabilities. The third lesson, it s not wrong to view your competition. In the past, I might have thought it was a little cheating or considered sneaky to find the flaws in your competitors products. But realistically, it s a very smart business move. She taught me look for opportunities even if it s comparing your product to the competition. I believe this strategy really helped her product sell better than the other ... It is secreted primarily by the placenta (during pregnancy), the corpus luteum and adrenal glands. The corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is produced in a female body after ovulation and is involved in the early stages of pregnancy. If the eggs are not fertilised, the corpus luteum reverts to a corpus albicans and menstruation takes place. If the egg is fertilized, then progesterone is secreted by the placenta. • 18. Analysis Of The Story Red Convertible The Two Brothers In the short story Red Convertible the two brothers, as close as they are, you really never know how someone is or feels or acts unless you truly know what they ve been through or if you are them and have gone through what they ve been through. The brother have always been close they re whole life but the split really changes one. Lyman and Henry really have a true connection with each other. The car they bought together without really thinking twice about it and they shared it really just shows us that the brothers have a stronger bond then most because they were both broke they spent every dollar they had on the car, both of them. Another example in the story that shows us the bond they have is when they pick up Susie the hitchhiker and they ask her where to? And she says Alaska. The process starts with add the lime directly to the water body. However in the cases of certain lakes where the turnaround is very quick, the lime is added to the body of water. This has disadvantages though, the main one being that the lime can have an adverse effect on wetland species of plants The advantages, however, are that the effects are longer lasting and metals are prevented from leaching into the lake water from the soil. The alkalinity of the limed lake is increased, the pH increased and heavy metal concentrations decrease back to within safe limits for fish life. The number of species of fish, animals and plankton increases as does biomass production. The chemical equation for liming water is CaCO3(s) + H2SO4(aq) ⇨ CaSO4*2H2O + CO2(g). If your soil or forest becomes too acidic a process called liming will help. Soil pH is a measure of the relative acidity or alkalinity in soils. • 21. Women s Struggle Against Male Dominance It is not anything new for women to be looked down upon. Women have been seen as inferior to their male counterparts. Yet, the patriarchy has brainwashed women to believe that they have to seek out a romantic, male partner. The patriarchy also has brainwashed women to stay quiet when her romantic partner is speaking negatively towards her or about her. At least, that is what many people seem to believe. There are women who are trying to fight against the war on male dominance. Even if these women are catching other women s attention, there is still a long road until women and men are equals. Some men are still going to speak poorly towards women, and often those they see as a lover or romance partner. Even Aristotle spoke poorly of women and felt that men held the dominant role in the relationship. Some heterosexual men speak negatively about heterosexual women during the dating stage of a relationship because these men feel that they have to reinforce dominance in the relationship. One thing to consider when talking about modern day heterosexual women in relation to men is culture. Cultural differences in different countries varies. Like F. Scott Christopher, liberal arts and Science professor at Arizona State University says, [T]he rules of relationship and the meaning of aggression in a relationship may vary from culture to culture (qtd. • 22. The Border Patrol State Summary Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine. In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos. Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American. Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The overall food contamination by Bisphenol A is unknown, but the nutrition/ health impact of this chemical is an important subject to be discussed for all individuals. The main aim of one study recently analyzed was to assess the reproductive impact of BPA leached from regularly available polycarbonate plastic containers. The bottles specifically chosen for testing were those that were used by children. The migration of BPA occurs in polycarbonate plastics (i.e. water bottles and baby bottles). Toxicology reports show society the importance of evaluating these products before purchase and consumption as a consumer. For a particular experiment, researchers used Daphnia Magna, a small flea that cleans and absorbs particles that infect the solution they are placed in, and bred them in the polycarbonate containers. A control group was created using water bottles without the infection of these creatures. A GC MS machine to detect the level of BPA released by each polycarbonate plastic then evaluated the water. An increase in the reproduction of BPA was detected when the Daphnia Magna were bred inside the container. Although these organisms effected the leaching of Bisphenol A, the GC MS was able to detect, through the control group, that BPA is released without DM. An Eco toxicological effect was observed through all of this testing, and provided evidence to substantiate the fact that Bisphenol A is leached from polycarbonate plastics. • 30. The Factors Of Political Socialization Cheryl Lee Robin Datta November 13, 2015 Exam #2 Similar to many of the things we are introduced to growing up as humans, our political knowledge is one of the things that does not derive from one specific source. Our thoughts on politics is constantly evolving and maturing as we encounter different agents throughout our lives. These agents of political socialization include our family, our education, the media, and many more. They shape our values and beliefs from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Our family environment contributes to our interest in politics in the future, our education teaches us the fundamentals of American government and politics, and lastly the media continuously shapes our view of the government. All three of these agents, are crucial in allowing us to understand ourselves and our beliefs today. Many intellects will argue that family is one of the most important agents in regards to political socialization (cite). This comes as no surprise, as children we are incapable of making rational decisions for ourselves. Thus, our parents and family members are tasked with making the best possible choices for us instead. In fact, as children we want to please our parents so we are receptive to their views, this includes political beliefs. (Stockwell, Chapter 6: Public Opinion, Political Socialization, and the Media.) • 31. Comparing Sauron s Ring And The Lord Of The Rings At its core, Manicheans believe that the universe is centrally dominated by two competing forces of good and evil. The good forces represent the light side while the bad/evil forces are the dark side. By taking a Manichianist view, we are acknowledging an idea that evil is a real force/presence in its own right. According to this view, evil is equally as powerful as the good and the two sides are in a state of eternal war. I think a movie like The Lord of the Rings can arguably represent a Manichean story. Specifically, I think that Sauron s Ring represents something that is inherently evil. In this case, Sauron s Ring does not represent something that lacks goodness, but is rather some type of evil force that has no other purpose besides pure evil. The entirety of the series depicts the struggle between to forces of good (i.e. the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view contends that everything that exists is inherently good and thus anything that is viewed as evil simply means that it s inherent goodness is lacking and/or absent and/or corrupted. Another facet of this Platonic thought towards this form of the good is that Plato also asserts the claim that the less perfect that something is, or the less amount of goodness that a person/object contains, the less real that thing is in the physical world. In this case, evil is simply an illusion instead of some powerful force that is pitted against the good. Perhaps this is why Christians were so willing to accept it. If all evil is simply a result of a lack of goodness, then all things are able to be saved if we can find a way to restore the goodness of an individual or an object through the work of ministry. • 32. Rhetorical Analysis Of Patton s Speech This is a rhetorical analysis of Lieutenant General George S. Patton s Speech to the Third United States Army. It was a very successful speech given to the troops of the United States Third Army in 1944 before the invasion of France. After examining the genre, purpose of this speech, General Patton s audience, and how General Patton used ethos, logos, and pathos we can see why this iconic speech was so successful. First we will take a look at the genre of this piece. The genre is very important in literature because they are like guidelines that outline what your piece should have in it. For example if someone wanted you to write a speech you would look at examples of other speeches and see how they get a point across. You would not for instance look at a series of papers under the Lab Report genre for ideas on how to write a speech. When General George S. Patton was tasked with speaking in front of thousands of troops the speech genre was the appropriate way to address so many people. Secondly this speech is very focused on a purpose, to motivate the listener, give confidence, and hope. General George S. Patton motivates by taking in consideration for his audience and exploiting it. The listeners are all inexperienced soldiers who are scared of going into combat for the first time. Patton already has a reputation of being a hardcore successful, seasoned general. Everyone looks up to him and he uses lines such as That s why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. to motivate people. When the soldiers of the Third Army hear Patton talk about how All real Americans love to fight it motivates all these very patriotic people because they link their love of country to loving the fight. Another great is example is when Patton states And we have the best team we have the finest food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. Why, by God, I actually pity these poor bastards we re going up against. . The graph proves that the frequency of rain with below a pH of 5 is more frequent than above 5. This pH value results in the crops growing less. Like Vietnam, Canada is also facing issues with acidic deposition. A case study done by un.org claims that The North American Maple is dying at a rate of 2.3% for each 100 exceedance units due to the loss of calcium and other nutrients from soils. Lakes and streams are also remaining too acidic or are not recovering to the point where they cannot support sensitive fish and aquatic biota. The result is aquatic ecosystems that are unable to support a variety of species; therefore, biodiversity continues to remain below pre acidification levels. After reviewing different examples of how pH affects other types of plants and seeds and the scientific information of acid rain, it is now clear that the optimum pH for plant growth is between 5.5 and 7. It is also evident that acidic solution affects the growth rate, in which the pH s with a low value slow down the growth process. There were a low number of seeds germinated in the pH of 1.65 and 2.11 due to the fact that seeds do not germinate efficiently at acidic solutions. However, they do germinate at solutions of between 5.5 and 6.5. There is a chance that there was a decline at pH 5 (the anomaly) due to the fact that it could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. • 40. Buddhism and the Four Noble Truths Essay Tilopa once said, It is not the outer objects that entangle us. It is the inner clinging that entangles us. Over 2500 years ago, Buddha outlined the framework for Buddhist thought in which he declared that he taught suffering, its origin, cessation and path. The four noble truths contain the basis of Buddha s ideas which he attained while meditating under a bodhi tree, which would later become a Buddhist symbol. While Buddhism is not practiced by many, its affect in the world can be seen in the utilization of the four noble truths that Buddha was enlightened with. By accepting the four noble truths, we are able to identify, heal, and be set free from a life of suffering. To begin with, the common bond humans share with each other in ... The poor man surprisingly walked around peacefully, and this gave the first Buddha the idea of roaming around, abstaining from indulgences, and trying to discover a cure all to end pain and misery. (Chaney, 3.) To continue, the Buddha said in his teaching that life is dukkha, the exact translation of the word to English is unknown, but most believe it is suffering. However, even things such as happiness and success eventually become dukkha. According to Buddha, life is impermanent and is constantly changing. Buddha Gotama said to his disciples, Impermanent, subject to change, are component things. Strive on with heedfulness (Thera, 6). This simply means that life and anything in the world is constantly changing. For example, you could win an award for being an outstanding athlete, but the happiness that brings is only short term. Life is dukkha and the happiness it brings will quickly subside. Buddha wanted his followers to realize the impermanence of life, and the dynamic changes that happen on a daily basis. This learning experience would provide a key into understanding what suffering is, and why every human shares the same common theme of suffering. As humans, we continually push ourselves to reach goals that we set for ourselves. However, the Buddha believes that this thirst for success only disappoints us because we are constantly trying to push barriers that we sometimes cannot physically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It covers everything terrorism, the physical security of ports and ships right through to the security of energy resources into the future. Introduction: The Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is a significant and strategic locality within the 21st century. It is important to a number of countries, including many key players of the region. The large waters of the IOR make it a strategic thoroughfare for international sea lanes as part of global maritime trade and sea commerce. This will create various maritime boundaries, disputes and choke points, which is an important security challenge of the IOR. The IOR is a vast energy and resource filled environment, which makes it a security challenge for competing states. Another security concern within the IOR is that of asymmetrical threats. These threats will target the energy/resource sector as well as the various vessels that cross the IOR. Crime, including that of piracy, human trafficking and smuggling is an imperative issue that regularly occurs within the IOR. These are the principal maritime security challenges in the IOR and provide all states, which operate in the region, a difficult task in countering these issues. Maritime Boundaries/ Disputes: The large and vast nature of the IOR makes it a given medium in which conflict occurs. Approximately 42% of the world s conflicts, can be linked to countries within the IOR. Some of these conflicts include the Middle East ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Social Media Addiction And Internet Addiction Relationship between Social Media Addiction and Internet Privacy: Informal community clients can share diverse bits of individual data with others; in any case, these subtle elements might be abused by companions. Net and Acuity s review (2005) of Facebook clients protection concerns found that 91 percent of clients uploaded their photos, 88 percent shared their date of birth, 40 percent demonstrated their telephone number, and 51 percent composed their present address. Sharing individual data, for example, this can lead to abuse of information, regardless of whether purposeful or not. For instance, a few people share profile subtle elements such as their full name, sexual orientation and telephone number with their companions (Wills Zeljkovic., 2011). On the off chance that the informal community account of one of the client s companions is hacked, the spammer or the programmer can abuse these points of interest to blackmail the client (Rosenblum 2007). The capacity to control protection alternatives is basic to expanding the clients trust in their interpersonal organization suppliers. Since Internet clients speak to a scope of various societies and ages, protection alternatives ought to be clear, basic and simple to utilize. Clients must be able to control their protection choices whenever. These protection alternatives enable clients to acknowledge or dismiss the scattering of their data to others. Don John And Don Pedro Character Analysis Battling Brothers Don John, the Prince s brother, was a villain, (Shakespeare IV.ii.33 34) The obvious conflict between Don John and Don Pedro develops the story of Much Ado About Nothing. The men s differing interests create climactic deception and frustration. However, other characters in the play do not always recognize this conflict, which accelerates Shakespeare s comic conventions. The foil of these two characters and their actions emphasize particular character traits between the families as well. In summary, Don John and Don Pedro s contrast proves important to the function of the play because it creates conflict, builds dramatic irony, and develops characterization. The majority of conflicts that occur in the play center around the contrast between Don John and Don Pedro. Don John s strong envy for his brother, Don Pedro, initiates most of the disruptions. Don John admits that he, had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in his [Don Pedro s] grace, (Shakespeare I.iii.21). He commits to the promise of destroying Don Pedro, which he plans to uphold for the rest of his life. For instance, when Don Pedro tries to influence the marriage of Claudio and Hero in Acts I and II, Don John immediately tries to ruin his brother s reputation by spreading rumors. The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, Dr. Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who studies inspiring the dead. He wants to be the first person to give life to a dead human being. all their time to focus on this goal renounces his family and friends passed, and. When finally this is achieved, everything crumbles. So, Victor Frankenstein is to blame for the tragedy, not the monster he has created, because he is the mastermind behind the whole operation, which is supposed to have everything under control, working properly as a good scientist should do. Although some critics say the monster Victor has created is to blame for the destruction and violence following the experiment is Victor, who is the responsible party. First, Victor, being the scientist, should have known how to do research on the subject much more than what he had done. It was obvious that he has not thought about the consequences that can result from it, as the monster going crazy, how do you react monster people and things, and especially the time it will take to turn the monster in the perfect being normal human.
