Christendom Sects
Although today one might recognize Christendom as having three main sects, this is not entirely
true. Within each mainstream denomination, there are countless subsects, each with their own
distinctive beliefs and practices. If one attempted to unite the all the groups, they would find it
incredibly difficult. Originally, Christendom was made of of one mainstream sect, Roman
Catholicism, and other sects united under its main ideas. In 1054, relations between the East and
the West Church rapidly deteriorated. Eventually, the Eastern Church would split from Roman
Catholicism to form a new sect of Christianity, Eastern Orthodoxy. Later, another sect,
Protestantism, would emerge after Martin Luther nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the
Wittenberg Castle church on October 31, 1517. There were several key differences between Roman
Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. Even after many other denominations of
Christendom had given up allegiance to the pope, the Roman Catholic population stayed faithful. In

One example of an obstacle each group would face would be their view on the sacraments, or a the
religious ceremonies that are regarded as a sign spiritual divine grace. Both the Roman Catholics
and Eastern Orthodox believed in all seven sacraments (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation,
Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Marriage, Holy orders) and thought that in order to connect
with god, you needed to be part of a religious group. Conversely, the Protestants only believed in
Baptism and Eucharist and thought that each individual could connect with god in their own
unique ways, without being part of a specific religion. Because each denomination believes that
their opinion on certain traditions or interpretation of the bible is correct, no one would be willing to

Essay On Gender By Deborah Tannen
Deborah Tannen is an American academic and professor of linguistics at Georgetown University in
Washington, D.C. Her research mainly focuses on expressing interpersonal relationships in
conversational interactions, including how gender and cultural differences affect these interactions.
In her essay Tannen uses genderto portray the differences between maleand femaleconversational
styles in classroom discussions. She formulates the theory that males naturally prefer and dominate
contributions to these debate like discussions while females incline to participate in less hostile
conversations. Tannen presents her argument effectively using simple vocabulary and appropriate
literary devices however, as the essay progresses she detracts from... Show more content on

While she offers some thoughtful insight in regards to male and female conversational styles as
related to the classroom, she seems to be too one sided. She focuses on how males in every
situation dominate conversations more than females. Stating about a student in her class that, this
young man valued the experience of being attacked and challenged publicly. Many, if not most,
women would shrink from such challenge, experiencing it as public humiliation Tannen
generalizes this phenomenon to apply to all males and females without offering any tangible
evidence. She makes several such assumptions and statements that are not supported by adequate
proof, relying more on stereotypes than concrete facts. For instance, she assumes that the audience
has experienced participating in a classroom discussion, while it is possible that some of the
audience have not. Classroom debates are not practiced in every educational system. Moreover,
most of her assumptions are based on the findings from her own class experience only whereas
adding accounts from other classrooms would have aided in convincing the audience. This is
because not all classrooms are identical. Differences are evident from classroom to classroom.
When Tannen does include opinions from her contemporaries, they are not related to the main idea
of gender based conversational

The Highly Potent Effect Fear Has On Decision Making In...
Ultimately, no good can come from this type of decision making. Fear prompts retreat. It is the
antipode to progress. Just when we need new ideas most, everyone is seized up in fear, trying to
prevent losing what we have left (Berns). Fear can be defined as a biochemical, emotional, and
physical response to something negative or thrill situation. Most individuals have a negative
reaction to fear causing them to obtain the physical response of fight or flight in face of fear or
avoiding anything that causes fear altogether. The characters in The Crucible all reacted to the
witch trials differently and that most likely was because of how afraid they were of the
accusations. If someone was more fearful of the possibility that some people were witches then
they were more likely to want them in jail or hung opposed to if they were not that fearful. The
research question that is being explored in this essay is What role does fear play in individuals
decision making in Arthur Miller s The Crucible? In other words, fear can affect how one reacts
to certain situations and it can cause them to make different decisions than they normally would.
Fear can have a huge role in an individual s decision making process. Many people make different
decisions when they are afraid or scared of something than they normally would. In the article

going to point out the way he uses language ,
The S. Lucian poet, for a long time, tried to show the importance of his being hybrid . In one of
the most famous and early poem A Far Cry From Africa , he ended this poem with a sequence of
question regarded his roots, his being divided into the vein with the blood of both culture, English

voice. Walcott put out in an interview for the journal contemporary literature how the richness of
his poetic voice is coming from the multicultural background of/ and language lived in him; French
creole , English creole and English . He definitely show the importance of owing this estates, fact

W. E. B. Du Bois s Criteria Of Negro Art
W.E.B Du Bois is a theorist who wrote Criteria of Negro Art. Du Bois is the first African
American to earn a Ph.D fom Harvard university. Du Bois lived till the year 1963 but he made a
great impact in our society as he is the best known spokesperson during the first half of the 20th
century. In a Criteria of Negro Art, W.E.B Du Bois approaches the topic of African Americans
being full fledged Americans . Du Bois stated, We want to be Americans, full fledged Americans,
with all of the rights of other American citizens. (Du Bois,1926, Pg.870)
I also believe people of color should be full fledged Americans. Black people have struggled and
made progress, but I believe they should keep going. Du Bois wants people of color to have ... Show

years to him. . (Du Bois, 1926, Pg.875)
I agree that it s time for black America to start this new revolution. According to Du Bois the
duties of black America are creating, preserving, and realizing beauty. Artist have been crying

Causes Of Homelessness In Canada
b) Lack of supply Along with the presence of higher demand in the housing market of the country
already, the lack of supply of affordable housing in Canada has aggravated the crisis even more.
Due to the presence of excess demand in the market, the quantities of housing, especially the private
sector profit maximizing ones have increased the price of their housing facilities, which in turn has
contributed significantly to the already existing problems of homelessnessin the country.
c) Increase in the inflow of new immigrants One of the primary reasons behind the rise in the issue
of homelessness in the country can be the recent trend of increased immigration in the country from
other parts of the world. Canada, in the last few years, has developed immensely regarding
economic and industrial aspects and the country currently boasts of its robust industrial, service and
export sectors, which in turn attracts a lot of potential workers from all over the world, for a better
standard of living. Apart from the employment sector, the education sector of the country is also
one of the primary attractions in the country. Canada has some of the finest universities in the
world, which attracts a huge number of students from across the country, which in turn increases
the demand for housing in the country, thereby increasing their prices.
d) Drug and alcohol abuse One of the contributing reasons behind homelessness in the country,
which is very subjective to Canada itself is the

What Is Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing is an innovating new IT service that enables multiple services like storage,
web hosting and computing under the same roof. Many companies are moving their services to
this technology with the flexibility of pay as you go model where a customer pays only for the
services used leading to cost saving for them. It also helps in terminating the need for large
infrastructure maintenance and development. Multiple Virtual Machines (VMs) having varying
resource locations can be operated together by a physical machine through utilization of
hardware virtualization by Clouds [1]. There can be an imbalance in a PM due to a varying load of
each VM due to over load of resource demand and it can affect the performance of VMs on the PM

Moreover, A long term load balance is not maintained since it only gets load balance at the
expected time spot. Additionally, it also requires a Markov Chain Model and calculation of
transition probability matrix for each VM in the system that leads to the elimination of
overhead in a system with more VMs [1]. To avoid the SLA violation, there is a need for an
algorithm that can help in migration of VMs out of PMs prior to getting overloaded and
providing a load balance state for a long time. It should also reduce the overhead and delay
caused during balancing. For meeting these requirements, a proactive load balancing algorithm
Markov Decision Process (MDP) was proposed [1]. There are two challenges associated with this
Process. The components of MDP are states (s), actions (a), transition probabilities (P), and
rewards (R). These components should be well designed for low overhead. There is a
probability of transition to send when the action is taken by the state and then it the reward is
received. MDP records the transitions of the load state of a PM when each VM is moving out
and it is considered as an action that creates an unwanted cost and is inaccurate because of varying
time of VM load [1]. MDP records the transitions amongst the PM load states by utilizing them as a
state and taking out VM in a

Leases Are A Contractual Agreement
Leases are a contractual agreement between a lessor: the individual leasing an asset, and a lessee:
the person whose intention is to use the asset. Currently, there are two types of leases: operating
and capital leases, and there are various rules implemented by the International Accounting
Standards Board (IASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), for evaluating leases
to determine if they are capitalized or not. A capital leaseis associated with the purchasing of a
capital asset, while an operating lease is associated with the use of an item that requires a fee. The
new accounting rules may have adverse effects on company s balance sheets, the income
statements, and cash flow statements. However, businesses with significant operating leases
commitments are usually the ones affected by the new accounting rules significantly.
When a lessee signs a lease agreement that is for more than a year, either the Type A and Type B
lease approach is taken to account for revenue, cash flows, and expenses correctly. Ultimately, both
categories entail different approaches for lease accounting. In additional, the Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB) new proposed lease standards may involve some effects on various
accounting events. These events include the presentation of a company s financial statements,
interest charges, year end reporting, financial disclosure notes, and income taxes. Leasing is an
important part activity for many firms in the business

A Blueprint For Success For Mobile Traffic From Adwords
Shape Your Blueprint for Success for Mobile Traffic from AdWords
Mobile phones have come a long way to think, at one point in time it was used to call. Fast
forward to modern day, where we are logging online and accessing platforms that traditionally were
only available on desktops.
Granted we have accepted the fact that the way we use mobiles has changed, but the services and
information we seek are the same. Whether it is searching on Google on your mobile, or logging on
to a social media platform, the mobile phone has come a long way!
Mobile Devices Dominating Internet Traffic
In 2014, there were countless articles about mobile exceeding PC traffic for the first time in
history. Google announced #mobilegeddon early this year, saying, It s the year of the mobile . It
s almost laughable to think that someday this was news. Especially, as it s estimated that by 2017,
85% of the world will have access to 3G (Ericsson, 2015). If this is a glimpse into the future, then
businesses require a mobile strategy.
For years, the simple solution for mobile device has been a responsive website: where your site
automatically resizes based on your device. A responsive website, is deemed to be the Holy Grail
for all sites, but in most cases, they forget one very important factor user experience.
Responsive Design Alone are not Meeting the Mark
Let s face it: responsive websites are ok. Now let s picture your user wanting to book an

Commonwel Personal Statement
I am interested in applying for the acting apprenticeship for the Commonweal Theater Company
for the 2017 2018 program. I am a recent graduate of Carleton College, with a degree in Biology,
but I have always had a passion for theater and the performing arts. I started dancing when I was
4, was in my first play when I was 8, was a competitive cheerleader and performed in musicals in
high school. When I studied at Carleton I danced for student led ensembles, choreographed for
musicals, sang in choir, took voice lessons, and acted in student films and faculty directed plays.
However, like any performer, I faced rejection along the way. I knew that if I wanted to succeed I
could never let the dismissals get to me, though sometimes this was harder than others.
I also knew that if they wouldn t let me perform, there were other ways I could participate, and that
was what led me to technical theater. I helped build and paint sets when I was in high school, and
also ran the follow spot. My student job in college was in the scene shop and costume shop where I

life, but creating is what brings joy to my life. With this apprenticeship, I will participate in

The Stagnancy In The Lovesong Of J. Alfred Prufrock
Stagnancy is associated with failure, the impossibility of man fulfilling his dreams. In T.S. Eliot s
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock is a discombobulated character. Stagnancy is
explicitly showcased into the character Prufrock by his idealistic need for perfection and
indecisiveness. Not only does the character become paralyzed throughout the poem, so does his
future. T.S. Eliot uses an obsession with women including ideas like timeand space to comment on
the negative effect stagnancy has on his abilities. By developing an elaborate character, T.S. Eliot is
able to portray the sense of inferiority and fear brought upon him that caused him to hinder his
growth.
Due to Prufrock s indecisiveness, in the end he is found stuck in his own confinement. He fails to
effectively use his time and freedom which results in the imprisonment of his own mind. Prufrock
reaches the point of total inaction and is found squandering his time in coffeehouses. The idea that

Eliot not only dismisses the idea of time, he makes Prufrock completely oblivious of it.
Throughout the poem, Eliot does not make it clear that Prufrock is a middle aged man. Prufrock
is aging but he does not see it as something he should worry about because there will be time yet
for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and revisions, (Eliot, 38 39). Past, present,
and future are equally immediate in the poem, thus paralyzing Prufrock even further. He has no
desire to accomplish what he so deeply desires despite the fact he is aging by day. Prufrock s
incompetency to see what is and what is not real prevents him accomplishing anything including
answering his Do I dare? question. His nonchalant attitude towards the time left further proves that
doubt and self consciousness will manifest itself into all aspects of

An Analysis of Nonviolent Resistance
An Analysis of Nonviolent Resistance The Nonviolent Resistance written by Martin Luther King
Jr. shows the three ways people use to deal with oppression. The first one is acquiescence, which
merely increases the oppressor s contempt. The second way is violence, which merely creates new
and more problems. And the third way is nonviolent resistance, which is the way to guide Negro to
harmonic race relations. Because nonviolent resistance reconciles the acquiescence and violence, it
makes Negro remain in South and struggle for both rights and equality, it helps Negro to achieve
the goal of integration, it mitigates the fears of the white and it reaches people more than the law.

They would rather bear those ills they have, as Shakespeare pointed out, than flee to others that
they know not of (King 510) serves as a fitting example. Besides, Because of author s Christian
background, he uses biblical references, such as Almost 2800 years ago Moses set out to lead
the children of Israel from the slavery of Egypt to the freedom of the promised land (King 510),
and Religion reminds every man that he is his brother s keeper (King 510). The author uses
biblical approach to touch his audience, and audience may feel that they have the same faith with
the author and the audience is sure to get evolved. What s more, the author considers Christian as a
morally approach because the audience not only includes black people but also their enemy white
people. The nonviolent resister agrees with the person who acquiesces that one should not be
physically aggressive toward his opponent (King 511) and The job of the Negro is to show them
that they have nothing to fear, Negro understands and forgives and is ready to forget the past
(King 512). He indicates these only to show that he loves his enemy .White people don t need to
fear because black people will not look back to the disaster history and all they will do is just
moving on. So if he fails to touch the audience by his logic, he can still reach them by morally
approach. In the third place, the author tries to get support from emotional approach. He uses four

Comparison Of Whiplash And Black Swan
From the first shots of Whiplash and Black Swan, we see the protagonists immersed in their
respective disciplines. Andrew Naiman practicing the drums, Nina Sayers dreaming of dancing the
White Swan. Both of these films bring us behind the scenes of a world most people never get to
see. Both were relatively low budget, leaned heavily on their scripts, and led to Oscar wins for
great performances. But most importantly, both of these films tell the tale of an artist seeking
greatness who must first endure suffering and sacrifice. But how do they tell this story? There are
plenty of variations between them, jazz drummer and ballerina, gender expectations, style, which
give each film a unique personality. But, today I want to focus on the structural similarities, to

against the makers and distributors of designer drugs. (1) Creating a War on Drugs is not a solution.
Due to the simplicity of manipulating a product on the banned substance list, chemical change

4. Application/ Synthesis we learned how to take gained knowledge coupled with new
information and synthesize it into an expression of our own learning. Character Traits Handout
Introduction F. Scott Fitzgerald once noted, Action is character. In other words, characters do
things. They feel things. They hear things. They say things. They think things. They go places
and so on. It is in these actions that the character s traits are established. It is in this that we, the
readers, get to see what kind of character thee people are: friendly, sad, nosey, love struck,
adventurous, etc. When we discuss characters in literature, poetry, and even film, we often
describe them in terms of their character traits, descriptive adjectives that define the specific
qualities of the character. The author/ poet/ director may present this directly, but often times,
they show us this in action. Our job as readers/ viewers is to draw conclusions about the
character s traits (infer them). Below is a list of ways we can determine the traits of the
character we are studying: [pic] 1. APPEARANCE AND NAME. A possible place to look for
analysis is in the names of the characters: For example, Willy Loman from Arthur Miller s Death
of a Salesman. Loman says a lot about Willy be a low man. It provides the reader an opportunity to

All but a hand full were executed on sight. In the next three episodes, also known as the original
trilogy, it centers on a young man, finding his role in the fight against the Galactic Empire. The
man known as Luke Skywalker discovers he is to become a Jedi knight and joins the Rebels to
defeat the Empire. This is what George Lucas created and what Disney plans to build off of.
However, the television series that just finished its seventh season does not follow this timeline.
Such example include the introduction to a padawan, apprentice to a key character, under the
teachings of Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to be the chosen one to defeat all evil. (
StarWars.com ) Nowhere was there any mention of a padawan to Anakin in any of the movies
George Lucas created. Stunts like this lead people astray with inaccurate information. This is not
what George Lucas had in mind. This is one of some of the reasons how Disney may be ruining a
much loved universe. While Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed,
video games created by a company LucasArts, their goal was to inform on things not related to the
timeline shown in the movies and to entertain to their millions of fans. Disney has released some
information on the new episode seven to be released in 2015, that it will be accurate and correct to
the timeline and it will include all the main characters

William Damon The Death Of Honesty Summary
The essay The Death of Honesty by William Damon explores how honesty is becoming unexpected
and infrequently used in society today. Written in a general style without difficult or complicated
words it is obvious the author intends for his point to be easily understood by his readers. Using a
convincing argument, the virtue of honesty is approached in an objective manner. Published by the
Hoover Institute, Damon s topic of honesty fits well into this publication because the institute
fosters development of freedom. Accordingly Damon s paper outlines the virtue of honesty as
necessary for civilized and democratic society.
By placing his counter argument at the beginning of the essay, he craftily refutes the argument and
provides his views. Using an inductive thesis at the end of his essay works well to explain Damon
s position as he appears to maintain a diplomatic view. The cause and effect rationale is convincing.
Words such as dishonesty, lying, and cheating are used interchangeably, while Damon writes about
dishonesty more than he writes on honesty. Using emotions and ethical dilemmas he details
justifications for lying. Descriptive words are used to highlight his opinion of honesty. Damon
defines honesty as a virtue while giving blame to those he feels responsible for its decline.
Three topic paragraphs, one sentence long are scattered throughout the essay providing transition
from introduction, to summarizing, and closing parts of his paper. They serve to give emphasis to
the main points, first, teaching honesty, second, how this teaching is failing, and thirdly, how
civilization requires honesty. Overall the sentences are sometimes complex providing variety, and
allowing flow that keeps the reading from becoming monotonous. Paragraph lengths are short,
consisting of the one sentence paragraphs to relatively few sentences, often just four, that appear
undeveloped, but the complexity of the sentences allow the thoughts that are expressed to be
complete.
While explaining that lying helps in less than ideal situations, Damon details how untruths can
reassure provide compassion, [and] diplomacy . Giving examples of where dishonesty has been not
only the ethical choice but an honorable

Spartacus Compared To American Slavery
Roman slavery was a complex institute with great diversity, and while some aspects of it were
comparable to American slavery, limiting it to these comparisons would be inaccurate. Nonetheless,
Kubrick s Spartacus chooses to emphasize the aspects that were comparable to American slavery in
order to comment on the Civil Rights Movement of the time. At the same time, the gladiators
represent ideals that would be associated with communism at the time this movie was released, and
the positive portrayal of the communal aspects of this slave society also offers commentary on
McCarthyism. In Spartacus, several aspects of Roman slaveryare portrayed in a manner similar to
American slavery, in order to invoke a cultural memory, and highlight how wrong... Show more

Similarities And Differences Between Ancient And...
There are subtle stylistic differences that occur in the Piombino Apollo that make it more advanced
than the archaic kouros, which lead many scholars to distinguish this statue as Hellenistic rather
than Archaic. The modelling of the back is one of the biggest alterations that occurs between actual
kouros from the archaic period and the Piombino Apollo. The back of the statue is much more
artistically advanced than the front regarding modelling (Ridgway 1967: 48). The subtle
modelling of the muscular structures and ridges of the spine of the back suggest the desired
realism of the Hellenistic era, instead of the basic and ridged idealized form found in the archaic
period (Ridgway 1967: 48). More subtle differences between a true archaic sculpture and a
retrograded Hellenistic sculpture are also present in this statue in other areas, such as the feet.
On most kouros, the feet are high arched, but on the Piombino Apollo, they are small and flat
(Ridgway 1967: 49). Also the toes are a discrepancy between the two eras. Usually archaic
statues have [the toes] aligned with the central part of the other foot (Ridgway 1967: 49) in a
very geometric fashion. However, the toes on the right foot of the Apollo do not align with the
middle of the left foot, and instead align with the left heel (Ridgway 1967: 49). As stated earlier,
the hair is a defining feature in archaic kouros and it is typically flat and in a bulky beaded shape

Political Differences Between Eastern And Western Europe
Before period 3 came the fall of many great empires across the world. Han China and Gupta India
were falling to invaders and revolts. However, one of the most important downfalls of an empire
in the classical period was the fall of the Roman Empire. Due to many contributing factors, Rome
broke apart towards the end of period 2 and changed the entirety of Europeand the Middle East.
This fall more importantly increased the divide between Eastern and Western Europe. After the fall
of Rome, the administrations of Western and Eastern Europeshowed more drastic differences in
both centralization and religion. However, even with this major differences they still shared the
same ambitions and values. One of the primary differences between Eastern and Western Europe
in period 3 is their respective governments or more specifically the centralization of them. The
major nation in the East was the Byzantines. They are known for being extremely centralized and
having a very large bureaucracy. While on the other hand, Western Europe was split into many
smaller areas and states, each having very loose organization. The paramount example of a
noncentralized Europe is the governing system. This system was feudalism, a political system that
spreads power and control amongst lords and their vassals. While the king has a lot of power,
feudalism does not allow for a heavily centralized government. With the Byzantines it is almost the
opposite. Most of the power was given to the emperor. The

Homeschooling Is The Issue Of Socialization
The term homeschooling refers to the practice of parents educating a child at home, rather than in
a conventional public or private school setting. These children would otherwise be enrolled in
elementary or secondary school. Homeschooling is seen in the United States today as a viable
alternative to public school education. According to widely repeated estimates, as many as two
million American children are schooled at home, with the number growing at 15 to 20 percent per
year (McDowell Ray 2000, Lines 2000). Despite the rising prevalence of the subject, we are left
without basic information on the nature of homeschoolingin the United States. What motivations do
parents have for choosing homeschooling religion, concerns about school quality, or other
motivations? What are the limitations that these families face? Lastly, what strengths do these
children exhibit with homeschooling? The common argument in limitations of homeschooling is
the issue of socialization in homeschoolers development. The counter argument from
homeschooling advocates is that homeschooling does not mean a hermit like existence for the
children. The idea is that social skills do not have to be developed only with people who are the
exact same age but experience of forming meaningful relationships social skills will get solidified.
Some families feel judged by making the choice to homeschool even when it meets their child s
needs, although today they are becoming more mainstream ( Collom,

Umbilical Cord Blood Harvesting
I. Introduction A. Attention getting opener: There is a critical need for effective, long term
solutions for harvesting stem cells. Already there are more than 300,000 units stored worldwide.
These products have been banked under stringent quality conditions, in order to ensure their
safety and efficacy, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Credibility statement:
Abundant research shows that harvesting stem cells from umbilical cord blood offers crucial
advantages over other methods, including bone marrow and peripheral blood. C. Thesis:
Although not an ideal medium for harvesting, and will not replace other types of stem cell
sources, umbilical cord blood should be an integral part of the blood/tissue bank repertoire. II.
Advantages of using umbilical cord blood. A. Immunology 1. Umbilical cord blood (UCB)
contains stem and progenitor cells capable of restoring haematopoietic and immunological
function in vivo, (Navarette Contreras, 2009, p. 236). 2. Umbilical cord blood stem cells can be
transplanted to regenerate a patient s immune system, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p.
142). B. Pre frozen/cryopreservation 1. cryopreservation allows for the storage of stem cells for
future use, eliminating need for searching for suitable donor 2. Especially true when minorities
need transplants (Samuel, et. Al, 2007). C. Advantages over other forms of stem cell 1. Bone

The Effects of Colonization on Various African Countries...
In trying to analyze the link between colonial rule and nationalist rule, one cannot discount the
influence of the past on the present. Analyzing nationalist actions and decisions without taking into
account how society got to that point, and the situation of society when power was transferred
would be asinine. The effects of colonization on various African countries through border setting
and defining ethnic groups, the morphing of ethnic group disputes into class based struggles, and
the stunting of economies through failure to diversify national economies is intrinsically linked to
the paths followed by leadership after attaining independence. Previous to colonial rule, African
governance took place at the local level. Political power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faced with the prospect of living in an internment or rehabilitation camp, they decided to voice their
displeasure through an armed uprising. During the struggle for independence, the natives had a
common cause of ridding themselves of colonial rule. Many were able to look past the divisions
that had taken hold in their communities and band together for a common cause. Once
independence was achieved, however, there was far from a consensus on how to proceed in ruling
their countries. Prior to colonization in Nigeria, ethnic divisions had already begun to give way to
class divisions. While colonial rule obviously did not introduce these divisions, it did exacerbate
them in order to be used for a political agenda. The Northern part of the country had already begun
entrenching itself as the merchant class at the expense of the Southern citizens. (Badru, 81 82).
Throughout colonial rule, this was reinforced and this allowed the Northerners to maintain political
control and further their accumulation of wealth. Once independence was achieved, the North was
able to solidify their stranglehold over the South in writing through their constitution. As Bardu puts

Premenstrual Syndrome Essay

age, and the global prevalence for PMS is roughly 47.8% with percentages of women affected
varying by country1. Symptoms of PMS are cyclic, occur during the luteal phase, and diminish with
the onset of the menses2. There are more than 200 symptoms that have been associated with PMS,
but the most common symptoms can be categorized into 3 groups: behavioral, psychological, and
physical symptoms. Behavioral symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, change in sexual
interest, food cravings, and/or overeating2. Psychological symptoms include irritability, anger,

Iron is also a crucial part of menses, as it is found in blood, and the menstrual cycle can deplete a
woman s stores. While food sources are the recommended vehicles in which to meet the
recommendations for these vitamins and minerals, supplementation is another way a woman could
ensure she is getting the recommended dose of the aforementioned vitamins and minerals.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of vitamin and mineral supplementation on
reducing PMS symptoms in women between the ages of 20 and 30. Half of the female population
suffers from PMS, while others experience significant symptoms that are not severe enough for a
clinical diagnosis, but occur during the luteal phase and affect daily living. This study is important
because PMS affects many women, and if this study successfully found a supplement or nutrition
prescription that reduced symptoms, women could live life regularly again.
Study Aims and Hypothesis One of the aim of this study is to identify if women with PMS have a
nutritional deficiency that could be an underlying factor in the symptoms they are experiencing.
Another aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of different vitamins and minerals on
reducing symptoms of PMS by testing various vitamin and mineral supplements on

What a peasant would do is not appropriate for a king to do. The reason I say this is, the only

Today s Unrealistic Body Expectations
Modern society portrays good looking men to have broad shoulders, toned arms, six pack abs,
and a small waist while good looking women are viewed to have the characteristics of being slim
and fit, having a small waist, lean hips, and perfect skin complexion. As a result, many people
are affected by our own society s portrayals of good looking men and women that they feel
pressured into doing whatever it takes and going through extreme measures, most of the time,
spending countless hours in the gym trying to achieve that perfect body. Body image is evident
in the gym, as the men are lifting weights they are frequently looking in the mirror examining
every angle of their body making sure no area is lacking muscle. On the other hand, women tend
to partake in the same behavior as men, showing a sense of insecurity about their own bodies,
frequently making trips to the scale to keep track of their weight making sure to stay slim and fit.
Society has a profound effect on many people, making them feel insecure about their own bodies.
The mass medias use of such unrealistic images sends an implicit message to men and women that
to be considered good looking they must partake in unhealthy diets, extreme exercises and
unhealthy body modification enhancers, which in turn can have detrimental effects on one s health.

The influence of Greek mythology does not stop here, it continues into the stars and galaxies many

There are two ways in which Greek mythology has affected the English language and that is in

Theme Of Human Nature In King Lear
Human nature is a concept that has interested scholars throughout history and brought debate over
what human nature truly is. Shakespeare explores the issue of human nature in his tragedy King
Lear by attempting to portray human nature as entirely good or evil. He seems to suggest, however,
that it is not impossible for one to move from one end of the spectrum of human nature to the other,
as multiple characters go through somewhat of a metamorphosis where their nature is changed.
Shakespeare present an account of human nature in King Learas the foundation of the tragedy King
Lear. In this play, there is a noticeable difference between the natural way in which humans want
to act against what is considered natural in society. Elements of society cause the characters to be
able to justify unnatural actions. Shakespeare thoroughly laces this play with the concept of
humans are neither good nor evil by nature. It is clear from the beginning of King Lear that
Cordelia has an entirely good nature, she remains constant throughout the play, never wavering
in her morals. The play begins with Lear deciding that he will have his daughters compete for
their divisions of his kingdoms based on which of them can impress him the most with their
proclamations of love. Cordelia, however, cannot express her love for her father in words, and
refuses to deceive him by doing otherwise, stating that she is sure [her] love s more richer than
[her] tongue (278 80). She realizes that by holding her tongue she is infuriating her father, but
her nature cannot allow her to do otherwise. When King Lear asks her what she has to say, she
states Nothing, my lord. This shows Cordelia s inherent good nature by doing what is right in a
tough situation. Lear s lack of understanding of the natural bond between parents and their
children leads him to his eventual demise. He is easily mislead by the other sisters, Goneril and
Regan s fake natural behavior when they give their long speeches in order to try and flatter him.
Eventually the daughters or as Lear calls them Pelican daughters (75) throw him out of his house
as soon as they have obtained power. However, they are still unsure whether he will try and take it
back. They come to

Of the many seasons, fall is by far the most beautiful and inspiring season of all. As the weather
becomes more windy, cloudy or even rainy, fall comes to existence and changes all that is around,
the world becomes more sophisticated than the usual greens found in plants and grasses, and though
these changes can be surprising at times, fall allows for nature to restart and begin anew.
Fall is the time of year in which individuals see that not only do people and lives change, but
nature itself changes. As fall comes into full swing, the trees change color and the leaves fall off

preparing for winter and had the sudden urge to build a leaf pile. Though much of any
stereotypical childs life revolves around the building of piles of meaningless matter, I found that
creating a pile of leaves in my front yard was the most important subject of the day. So, leaving
what little coloring worksheets I had inside, I went to the front yard with rakes in tow. To begin,
I had raked the majority of the fallen leaves into a pile with a clear and definite peak, but
afterwards I would jump on top of the tower. Each of the leaves at the crest would be whisked
into the air and tumble around before finally settling on me. Out of all this, the most exhilarating
aspect of something simple as bounding onto a pile of leaves was the fact that I could continue to
jump and jump and jump until all of these leaps created a scattering trail across the yard. Yet, the
leaves still

Statement Of IKEA Management Trainee Program
Hej,
My mentor, Erik Thun, a co worker at IKEA, made me aware of the IKEA Management Trainee
Program. Based on our discussions within the mentoring program he believes my background and
personality would be a good fit for a future position as leader at IKEA. Since I plan to finish my
Master degree in business process and supply chain management in June I believe IKEA s
management trainee program is a very interesting opportunity to develop my professional career.
One of the most important skills I improved during my master studies at Linnaeus University is to
work together in international teams. Being able to adapt to different culture has proven to be very
important and developed me in many ways. Within various student projects that were carried out in
a group, I have been able to use my leadership skills to increase the group s success.
Before I came to Sweden, I completed a Bachelor s degree in Business Information Systems with a
specialization in Application Management from Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University
in Mannheim, Germany. The combination of business and technology is ... Show more content on

When looking back at my work in a the leadership team at a children s holiday program I
remember that in stressful or hectic situations I tend to analyze the situation and try to lead as
structured as possible. Afterwards I got the feedback that helped my team members and that they
felt comfortable with coming to me with any questions or doubts they had which I appreciated
very much. Stressful situations for example can be when the children (around 200) meet at the
first day and are forming groups. Others, when they are leaving with different buses or are picked
up by the parents. In these situations many questions arose and it was important to oversee the
situations very well and be approachable to

Tony Blair Research Paper
Intro/thesis Tony Blair is one of the most important figures in the Middle East conflict due to the
amount of involvement and the amount of tasks that he is assigned.
Relevant Background Tony Blair, a former prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to
2007, is believed to be disliked by Palestinians due to his closeness with Israel. His closeness with
Israel is because of previous discussions with a pro Israel lobby group, Labour Friends of Israel.
At one point he was a special representative of the Quartet of International powers that includes the
United States, United Nations, European Union, and Russia. His job was to seek a peace
agreement between Israel and the Palestinians and later he was given the task of helping the

Therefore the Palestinians were angry, but since Israel had the help of the United States and the
United Nation the Palestinians lost the wars that followed and their country ceased to exist. The
Israeli believed that they needed a place where they could practice their beliefs, so they declared
their independence in 1948 and received the land that already belonged to Palestine. Hamas said
that any proposal for a long term truce with Israel would be brought to the attention of other
Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip. Blair is acting as a broker to obstruct matters and we don t
know what his attentions are. At times given the scope of the conflict his projects seem quite
small, an observation made at one point by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who
warned that Blair s state building efforts would amount to little without a more substantive
change in Israeli policy. The Palestinians detested many of Blair s plans because they were
supposed to be helpful, according to the Palestine paper. A memo from late 2007 from the PA s
Negotiations Support Unit has a large number of issues: Agribusiness projects are a no more even
the ones already proposed due to requirement of Palestinians to commute from one place to another
and for them to send off goods but not requesting for Israel to use the 2005 Agreement on

Civil Rights Violations Case Study
So now we have the churches in partnership with the government so they can receive 501(c)(3)
status and govt. control. The govt. dictates the requirements for the exempt status and thereby
endorses those religions, breaking down the wall between church and state. The govt. dictates to
small businesses that they have to do business with customers, even if in conflict with their
conscience or religious beliefs, ignoring the civil rights of the business owner. Are the businesses
that refuse service to patrons that don t wear shoes or shirts because of their cultural beliefs in
violation of their civil rights? The govt. can, and has threatened to pull tax exempt status as in the
83 case of Bob Jones University if its policies violated fundamental

hard and it took off the bacteria, making that trial invalid. After a few more trials, we finally

Sam Stewart Insider Fraud
The SEC has three main purposes to serve the U.S. stock market. The first and most important is
to protect investors by sustaining economic growth. In a sector as risky as the stock market the
most important asset for any investor is to research. The SEC makes sure that publicly traded
companies show financial statements so investors don t blindly make financial decisions. In a
private company that is not publicly traded the SEC makes sure that their financial information is
not leaked. After this has been done publicly traded companies information is published and
available for all to see. With reliable data available to the general public in the financial markets

This is called insider trading and is one of the acts that the SEC is responsible for stopping. One
of the most famous cases occurred in late 2001 in which one of America s most famous woman
was arrested. This person was Martha Stewart someone who everyone in America has seen on T.V.
countless times. Stewart who owned four thousand shares of ImClone stock was imprisoned for
five months after being found guilty of insider trading by the SEC. The C.E.O of the company
ImClone, Sam Waksal was found to be the main culprit in the case. Waksal discovered that his
company would be taking a huge hit in the stock market. The C.E.O urged his broker to sell the
stock because if he were too keep it would have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. When
asking his broker to dump the stock a natural instinct took over and the broker knew that
something was going to happen to the company forcing its stock to drop. Waksal and Stewart
however shared the same broker, when the news was conveyed to the broker Martha was urged
to sell her stocks. After she did the SEC charged her with insider trading for selling her stock with
illegal information. Even though Martha did not directly receive the information she still used
critical information that was only available to a select few in her favor. This forced the SEC to
carry out its purpose and maintain fair, orderly, and efficient

Essay On Black Colleges
Historically Black Colleges and Universities were established for African Americans during a time
of strict segregation. During slavery, to keep African Americans afraid and submissive, White
Americans had laws in place making it illegal for them to learn how to read and write. For most of
America s history, African Americans who received a college educationcould only get it from an
HBCU. Today, HBCUs remain one of the surest ways for an African American
, or student of any
race, to receive a high quality education. The first Historically Black College and Universityto be
established is formerly known as the Institute for Colored Youth founded by Richard Humpreys in
1837, approximately 26 years before slavery ended. Today, this school is better known as Cheney
University of Pennsylvania, the oldest African American institution of higher learning. Two other
institutions that were later established prior to the Civil War are Lincoln University founded in
1854 and Wilberforce... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Best Car Seat
How to Buy the Best Car Seat for your Child
One summer in 2016, in Tacoma, Washington, a woman was taking her 5 year old son to school,
coming along for the ride was her 2 year old son. While driving the mother lost control of her car
and swerved into a tree. The car was totaled and the side where her 2 year old was sitting was
completely caved in. Yet amazingly, no one was hurt, and the kids were fine. The 2 year old was
saved by their car seat, which absorbed all the impact of the crash. Had that car seat not been
properly installed, the family would have lost more than a car. The sad thing is scenarios like this
happen every day, car crashes are a reality of life, and sometimes they are your fault, sometimes the
fault of the other driver. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is basically a standardized installation system for car seats. If you see ISOFIX or LATCH on a car
seat, then you know it can easily install into most modern cars. In Canada it will also be known as
UAS (Universal Anchorage System).
The different types of car seat
Infant Car Seats
These are the first types of car seat you will buy for your child. They are designed to work with
newborns who weigh above 4 or 5 pounds, and will work until the baby reaches around 20 pounds.
These will be rear facing car seats.
Convertible Car Seats
These seats are designed to adopt as the child gets older. They start off working for infants (5
pounds to 20 pounds) and then can be converted into forward facing car seats for toddlers (so
basically anywhere from 30 to 40 pounds).
Booster Seats
Booster seats are the last stage of car seat you will need to buy, they are meant for children in the 40
pound to 100 pound range. Most children can stop using booster seats around 8 years old. Taller
children can stop a bit earlier, around 6 or 7 years old.
Combination car seats
These car seats essentially act as 3 in 1 car seat. They can be used as a rear facing car seat for
infants, a forwards facing seat for older kids, and then finally they act as a booster

  • 2. Christendom Sects Although today one might recognize Christendom as having three main sects, this is not entirely true. Within each mainstream denomination, there are countless subsects, each with their own distinctive beliefs and practices. If one attempted to unite the all the groups, they would find it incredibly difficult. Originally, Christendom was made of of one mainstream sect, Roman Catholicism, and other sects united under its main ideas. In 1054, relations between the East and the West Church rapidly deteriorated. Eventually, the Eastern Church would split from Roman Catholicism to form a new sect of Christianity, Eastern Orthodoxy. Later, another sect, Protestantism, would emerge after Martin Luther nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church on October 31, 1517. There were several key differences between Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. Even after many other denominations of Christendom had given up allegiance to the pope, the Roman Catholic population stayed faithful. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conversely, the Protestants only believed in Baptism and Eucharist and thought that each individual could connect with god in their own unique ways, without being part of a specific religion. • 3. Essay On Gender By Deborah Tannen Deborah Tannen is an American academic and professor of linguistics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Her research mainly focuses on expressing interpersonal relationships in conversational interactions, including how gender and cultural differences affect these interactions. In her essay Tannen uses genderto portray the differences between maleand femaleconversational styles in classroom discussions. She formulates the theory that males naturally prefer and dominate contributions to these debate like discussions while females incline to participate in less hostile conversations. Tannen presents her argument effectively using simple vocabulary and appropriate literary devices however, as the essay progresses she detracts from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she offers some thoughtful insight in regards to male and female conversational styles as related to the classroom, she seems to be too one sided. She focuses on how males in every situation dominate conversations more than females. Stating about a student in her class that, this young man valued the experience of being attacked and challenged publicly. Many, if not most, women would shrink from such challenge, experiencing it as public humiliation Tannen generalizes this phenomenon to apply to all males and females without offering any tangible evidence. She makes several such assumptions and statements that are not supported by adequate proof, relying more on stereotypes than concrete facts. For instance, she assumes that the audience has experienced participating in a classroom discussion, while it is possible that some of the audience have not. Classroom debates are not practiced in every educational system. Moreover, most of her assumptions are based on the findings from her own class experience only whereas adding accounts from other classrooms would have aided in convincing the audience. This is because not all classrooms are identical. Differences are evident from classroom to classroom. When Tannen does include opinions from her contemporaries, they are not related to the main idea of gender based conversational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Highly Potent Effect Fear Has On Decision Making In... Ultimately, no good can come from this type of decision making. Fear prompts retreat. It is the antipode to progress. Just when we need new ideas most, everyone is seized up in fear, trying to prevent losing what we have left (Berns). Fear can be defined as a biochemical, emotional, and physical response to something negative or thrill situation. Most individuals have a negative reaction to fear causing them to obtain the physical response of fight or flight in face of fear or avoiding anything that causes fear altogether. The characters in The Crucible all reacted to the witch trials differently and that most likely was because of how afraid they were of the accusations. If someone was more fearful of the possibility that some people were witches then they were more likely to want them in jail or hung opposed to if they were not that fearful. The research question that is being explored in this essay is What role does fear play in individuals decision making in Arthur Miller s The Crucible? In other words, fear can affect how one reacts to certain situations and it can cause them to make different decisions than they normally would. Fear can have a huge role in an individual s decision making process. Many people make different decisions when they are afraid or scared of something than they normally would. In the article Fear: The Highly Potent Effect Fear Has on Decision Making, the author states, When you are overcome with fear or panic and have to make a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Causes Of Homelessness In Canada b) Lack of supply Along with the presence of higher demand in the housing market of the country already, the lack of supply of affordable housing in Canada has aggravated the crisis even more. Due to the presence of excess demand in the market, the quantities of housing, especially the private sector profit maximizing ones have increased the price of their housing facilities, which in turn has contributed significantly to the already existing problems of homelessnessin the country. c) Increase in the inflow of new immigrants One of the primary reasons behind the rise in the issue of homelessness in the country can be the recent trend of increased immigration in the country from other parts of the world. Canada, in the last few years, has developed immensely regarding economic and industrial aspects and the country currently boasts of its robust industrial, service and export sectors, which in turn attracts a lot of potential workers from all over the world, for a better standard of living. Apart from the employment sector, the education sector of the country is also one of the primary attractions in the country. Canada has some of the finest universities in the world, which attracts a huge number of students from across the country, which in turn increases the demand for housing in the country, thereby increasing their prices. d) Drug and alcohol abuse One of the contributing reasons behind homelessness in the country, which is very subjective to Canada itself is the ... Many companies are moving their services to this technology with the flexibility of pay as you go model where a customer pays only for the services used leading to cost saving for them. It also helps in terminating the need for large infrastructure maintenance and development. Multiple Virtual Machines (VMs) having varying resource locations can be operated together by a physical machine through utilization of hardware virtualization by Clouds [1]. Moreover, A long term load balance is not maintained since it only gets load balance at the expected time spot. Additionally, it also requires a Markov Chain Model and calculation of transition probability matrix for each VM in the system that leads to the elimination of overhead in a system with more VMs [1]. To avoid the SLA violation, there is a need for an algorithm that can help in migration of VMs out of PMs prior to getting overloaded and providing a load balance state for a long time. It should also reduce the overhead and delay caused during balancing. For meeting these requirements, a proactive load balancing algorithm Markov Decision Process (MDP) was proposed [1]. There are two challenges associated with this Process. The components of MDP are states (s), actions (a), transition probabilities (P), and rewards (R). These components should be well designed for low overhead. There is a probability of transition to send when the action is taken by the state and then it the reward is received. MDP records the transitions of the load state of a PM when each VM is moving out and it is considered as an action that creates an unwanted cost and is inaccurate because of varying time of VM load [1]. MDP records the transitions amongst the PM load states by utilizing them as a state and taking out VM in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Leases Are A Contractual Agreement Leases are a contractual agreement between a lessor: the individual leasing an asset, and a lessee: the person whose intention is to use the asset. Currently, there are two types of leases: operating and capital leases, and there are various rules implemented by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), for evaluating leases to determine if they are capitalized or not. A capital leaseis associated with the purchasing of a capital asset, while an operating lease is associated with the use of an item that requires a fee. The new accounting rules may have adverse effects on company s balance sheets, the income statements, and cash flow statements. However, businesses with significant operating leases commitments are usually the ones affected by the new accounting rules significantly. When a lessee signs a lease agreement that is for more than a year, either the Type A and Type B lease approach is taken to account for revenue, cash flows, and expenses correctly. Ultimately, both categories entail different approaches for lease accounting. In additional, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) new proposed lease standards may involve some effects on various accounting events. These events include the presentation of a company s financial statements, interest charges, year end reporting, financial disclosure notes, and income taxes. I am a recent graduate of Carleton College, with a degree in Biology, but I have always had a passion for theater and the performing arts. I started dancing when I was 4, was in my first play when I was 8, was a competitive cheerleader and performed in musicals in high school. When I studied at Carleton I danced for student led ensembles, choreographed for musicals, sang in choir, took voice lessons, and acted in student films and faculty directed plays. However, like any performer, I faced rejection along the way. I knew that if I wanted to succeed I could never let the dismissals get to me, though sometimes this was harder than others. Alfred Prufrock, Prufrock is a discombobulated character. Stagnancy is explicitly showcased into the character Prufrock by his idealistic need for perfection and indecisiveness. Not only does the character become paralyzed throughout the poem, so does his future. T.S. Eliot uses an obsession with women including ideas like timeand space to comment on the negative effect stagnancy has on his abilities. By developing an elaborate character, T.S. Eliot is able to portray the sense of inferiority and fear brought upon him that caused him to hinder his growth. Due to Prufrock s indecisiveness, in the end he is found stuck in his own confinement. He fails to effectively use his time and freedom which results in the imprisonment of his own mind. • 22. William Damon The Death Of Honesty Summary The essay The Death of Honesty by William Damon explores how honesty is becoming unexpected and infrequently used in society today. Written in a general style without difficult or complicated words it is obvious the author intends for his point to be easily understood by his readers. Using a convincing argument, the virtue of honesty is approached in an objective manner. Published by the Hoover Institute, Damon s topic of honesty fits well into this publication because the institute fosters development of freedom. Accordingly Damon s paper outlines the virtue of honesty as necessary for civilized and democratic society. By placing his counter argument at the beginning of the essay, he craftily refutes the argument and provides his views. Using an inductive thesis at the end of his essay works well to explain Damon s position as he appears to maintain a diplomatic view. The cause and effect rationale is convincing. Words such as dishonesty, lying, and cheating are used interchangeably, while Damon writes about dishonesty more than he writes on honesty. Using emotions and ethical dilemmas he details justifications for lying. Descriptive words are used to highlight his opinion of honesty. Damon defines honesty as a virtue while giving blame to those he feels responsible for its decline. Three topic paragraphs, one sentence long are scattered throughout the essay providing transition from introduction, to summarizing, and closing parts of his paper. They serve to give emphasis to the main points, first, teaching honesty, second, how this teaching is failing, and thirdly, how civilization requires honesty. Overall the sentences are sometimes complex providing variety, and allowing flow that keeps the reading from becoming monotonous. Paragraph lengths are short, consisting of the one sentence paragraphs to relatively few sentences, often just four, that appear undeveloped, but the complexity of the sentences allow the thoughts that are expressed to be complete. While explaining that lying helps in less than ideal situations, Damon details how untruths can reassure provide compassion, [and] diplomacy . • 24. Similarities And Differences Between Ancient And... There are subtle stylistic differences that occur in the Piombino Apollo that make it more advanced than the archaic kouros, which lead many scholars to distinguish this statue as Hellenistic rather than Archaic. The modelling of the back is one of the biggest alterations that occurs between actual kouros from the archaic period and the Piombino Apollo. The back of the statue is much more artistically advanced than the front regarding modelling (Ridgway 1967: 48). The subtle modelling of the muscular structures and ridges of the spine of the back suggest the desired realism of the Hellenistic era, instead of the basic and ridged idealized form found in the archaic period (Ridgway 1967: 48). More subtle differences between a true archaic sculpture and a retrograded Hellenistic sculpture are also present in this statue in other areas, such as the feet. On most kouros, the feet are high arched, but on the Piombino Apollo, they are small and flat (Ridgway 1967: 49). Also the toes are a discrepancy between the two eras. Usually archaic statues have [the toes] aligned with the central part of the other foot (Ridgway 1967: 49) in a very geometric fashion. However, the toes on the right foot of the Apollo do not align with the middle of the left foot, and instead align with the left heel (Ridgway 1967: 49). However, one of the most important downfalls of an empire in the classical period was the fall of the Roman Empire. Due to many contributing factors, Rome broke apart towards the end of period 2 and changed the entirety of Europeand the Middle East. This fall more importantly increased the divide between Eastern and Western Europe. After the fall of Rome, the administrations of Western and Eastern Europeshowed more drastic differences in both centralization and religion. However, even with this major differences they still shared the same ambitions and values. One of the primary differences between Eastern and Western Europe in period 3 is their respective governments or more specifically the centralization of them. The major nation in the East was the Byzantines. They are known for being extremely centralized and having a very large bureaucracy. While on the other hand, Western Europe was split into many smaller areas and states, each having very loose organization. The paramount example of a noncentralized Europe is the governing system. This system was feudalism, a political system that spreads power and control amongst lords and their vassals. While the king has a lot of power, feudalism does not allow for a heavily centralized government. With the Byzantines it is almost the opposite. Most of the power was given to the emperor. The ... These children would otherwise be enrolled in elementary or secondary school. Homeschooling is seen in the United States today as a viable alternative to public school education. According to widely repeated estimates, as many as two million American children are schooled at home, with the number growing at 15 to 20 percent per year (McDowell Ray 2000, Lines 2000). Despite the rising prevalence of the subject, we are left without basic information on the nature of homeschoolingin the United States. What motivations do parents have for choosing homeschooling religion, concerns about school quality, or other motivations? What are the limitations that these families face? Lastly, what strengths do these children exhibit with homeschooling? The common argument in limitations of homeschooling is the issue of socialization in homeschoolers development. The counter argument from homeschooling advocates is that homeschooling does not mean a hermit like existence for the children. The idea is that social skills do not have to be developed only with people who are the exact same age but experience of forming meaningful relationships social skills will get solidified. Some families feel judged by making the choice to homeschool even when it meets their child s needs, although today they are becoming more mainstream ( Collom, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once independence was achieved, however, there was far from a consensus on how to proceed in ruling their countries. Prior to colonization in Nigeria, ethnic divisions had already begun to give way to class divisions. While colonial rule obviously did not introduce these divisions, it did exacerbate them in order to be used for a political agenda. The Northern part of the country had already begun entrenching itself as the merchant class at the expense of the Southern citizens. (Badru, 81 82). • 42. Theme Of Human Nature In King Lear Human nature is a concept that has interested scholars throughout history and brought debate over what human nature truly is. Shakespeare explores the issue of human nature in his tragedy King Lear by attempting to portray human nature as entirely good or evil. He seems to suggest, however, that it is not impossible for one to move from one end of the spectrum of human nature to the other, as multiple characters go through somewhat of a metamorphosis where their nature is changed. Shakespeare present an account of human nature in King Learas the foundation of the tragedy King Lear. In this play, there is a noticeable difference between the natural way in which humans want to act against what is considered natural in society. Elements of society cause the characters to be able to justify unnatural actions. Shakespeare thoroughly laces this play with the concept of humans are neither good nor evil by nature. It is clear from the beginning of King Lear that Cordelia has an entirely good nature, she remains constant throughout the play, never wavering in her morals. The play begins with Lear deciding that he will have his daughters compete for their divisions of his kingdoms based on which of them can impress him the most with their proclamations of love. Cordelia, however, cannot express her love for her father in words, and refuses to deceive him by doing otherwise, stating that she is sure [her] love s more richer than [her] tongue (278 80). She realizes that by holding her tongue she is infuriating her father, but her nature cannot allow her to do otherwise. When King Lear asks her what she has to say, she states Nothing, my lord. This shows Cordelia s inherent good nature by doing what is right in a tough situation. Lear s lack of understanding of the natural bond between parents and their children leads him to his eventual demise. He is easily mislead by the other sisters, Goneril and Regan s fake natural behavior when they give their long speeches in order to try and flatter him. Eventually the daughters or as Lear calls them Pelican daughters (75) throw him out of his house as soon as they have obtained power. However, they are still unsure whether he will try and take it back. They come to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Autumn Research Paper Of the many seasons, fall is by far the most beautiful and inspiring season of all. As the weather becomes more windy, cloudy or even rainy, fall comes to existence and changes all that is around, the world becomes more sophisticated than the usual greens found in plants and grasses, and though these changes can be surprising at times, fall allows for nature to restart and begin anew. Fall is the time of year in which individuals see that not only do people and lives change, but nature itself changes. As fall comes into full swing, the trees change color and the leaves fall off such that the tree can grow new leaves next year and continue growing. This connects to many individuals due to its similarity to childhood. During my upbringing, fall was always a source of renewal and in turn many memories developed around the season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had come home on the bus from kindergarten and saw the leaves changing colors and the plants preparing for winter and had the sudden urge to build a leaf pile. Though much of any stereotypical childs life revolves around the building of piles of meaningless matter, I found that creating a pile of leaves in my front yard was the most important subject of the day. So, leaving what little coloring worksheets I had inside, I went to the front yard with rakes in tow. To begin, I had raked the majority of the fallen leaves into a pile with a clear and definite peak, but afterwards I would jump on top of the tower. Each of the leaves at the crest would be whisked into the air and tumble around before finally settling on me. Out of all this, the most exhilarating aspect of something simple as bounding onto a pile of leaves was the fact that I could continue to jump and jump and jump until all of these leaps created a scattering trail across the yard. Yet, the leaves still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on our discussions within the mentoring program he believes my background and personality would be a good fit for a future position as leader at IKEA. Since I plan to finish my Master degree in business process and supply chain management in June I believe IKEA s management trainee program is a very interesting opportunity to develop my professional career. One of the most important skills I improved during my master studies at Linnaeus University is to work together in international teams. Being able to adapt to different culture has proven to be very important and developed me in many ways. Within various student projects that were carried out in a group, I have been able to use my leadership skills to increase the group s success. • 45. Tony Blair Research Paper Intro/thesis Tony Blair is one of the most important figures in the Middle East conflict due to the amount of involvement and the amount of tasks that he is assigned. Relevant Background Tony Blair, a former prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007, is believed to be disliked by Palestinians due to his closeness with Israel. His closeness with Israel is because of previous discussions with a pro Israel lobby group, Labour Friends of Israel. At one point he was a special representative of the Quartet of International powers that includes the United States, United Nations, European Union, and Russia. His job was to seek a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians and later he was given the task of helping the Palestinian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore the Palestinians were angry, but since Israel had the help of the United States and the United Nation the Palestinians lost the wars that followed and their country ceased to exist. The Israeli believed that they needed a place where they could practice their beliefs, so they declared their independence in 1948 and received the land that already belonged to Palestine. Hamas said that any proposal for a long term truce with Israel would be brought to the attention of other Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip. Blair is acting as a broker to obstruct matters and we don t know what his attentions are. At times given the scope of the conflict his projects seem quite small, an observation made at one point by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who warned that Blair s state building efforts would amount to little without a more substantive change in Israeli policy. The Palestinians detested many of Blair s plans because they were supposed to be helpful, according to the Palestine paper. A memo from late 2007 from the PA s Negotiations Support Unit has a large number of issues: Agribusiness projects are a no more even the ones already proposed due to requirement of Palestinians to commute from one place to another and for them to send off goods but not requesting for Israel to use the 2005 Agreement on Movement and ... Best Car Seat How to Buy the Best Car Seat for your Child One summer in 2016, in Tacoma, Washington, a woman was taking her 5 year old son to school, coming along for the ride was her 2 year old son. While driving the mother lost control of her car and swerved into a tree. The car was totaled and the side where her 2 year old was sitting was completely caved in. Yet amazingly, no one was hurt, and the kids were fine. The 2 year old was saved by their car seat, which absorbed all the impact of the crash.
