The Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis
Literature doesn t necessarily have to fit it into the reader s life, novels like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984
lack major connections to teenage life, but are still taught in school, a book should teach a lesson or
give food for thought, this book does. The Lord of the Flies is a novel that has become a mainstay in
high school literature for decades, some detractors of this book believe that, since it has nothing to do
with high school teens, its main audience, it should be removed from public schools. However, the
Lord of the Flies acts as a social experiment, allowing for discussion of the way rules control our
interactions in society. In addition to this, the book shouldn t be removed from school since it also
teaches how young people are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, those with darker intentions like Roger, will act and follow through on their darkest
desires once there s nothing there to stop them. This holds true to how teens interact with laws in
society, like deciding to listen to a rule or not, a rule being an obstacle in the way of someone s plans,
or a law that is viewed as the best for society.
The book should be maintained as a standard in the classroom because it discusses the topics of
innocence, bystanderism, and vulnerability. Out of ignorance, in the pouring rain and lightning, The
clan of boys savagely beat Simon to death. They had thought he was the mythical beast on the island.
Many excuses were made, but one to point out is Piggy s, That s right we was on the outside, we never
seen nothing (Golding 158) he exclaimed, after the topic of Simon s death arose. Bystanding while
bad things happen to others is a common theme, a belief that if you ignore it, it ll go away, like how
the boys decide if they deny they were at the scene of Simon s death, it ll make feel slightly less
responsible for it, although they were all part of it. They try to deny their loss of innocence, and make

Amy Landon s The Emergency Room At Marshall I
Client System Problem
A white, middle class, 48 year old female by the name of Amy Landon (alias name) was brought into
the emergency room at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital in Greenville, SC by her husband Dalton Landon

children: a son age 9 and a daughter age 7. Amy has been seeing a psychiatrist ever since her first
anxiety attack 4 years ago.
My patient has also been diagnosed with having agoraphobia. Individuals diagnosed with agoraphobia

The two theories I will utilize from this course in order to explain my patient s behavior are the
psychodynamic theory and the systems theory.
Theories to Explain Behavior The psychodynamic theory would explain an individual s personality in
terms of conscious and unconscious forces, such as unconscious desires and beliefs. In the early 20th
century, Sigmund Freud proposed the psychodynamic theory consists of the id (accountable for
instincts and pleasure seeking), the superego (attempts to submit to the rules of parents and society),
and the ego (which facilitates between the id and superego according to the stresses of reality)
(Cherry, n.d.). Psychodynamic theories believe childhood experiences shape a person s personality.
The systems theory would focus on the micorsystems, which are the interpersonal relations
experienced by the developing person. Amy s challenge will also be explained through her
mesosystem, this would be the linkage and processes that take place between two or more setting
containing the developing person (ST article ). Lastly through the systems theory Amy s challenge
will be analyzed through her macrosystem which is a societal blueprint for a particular culture. (ST

Executive Orders Of The American Presidency
Executive Orders in the American Presidency By Niraj Patel POLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By
definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a federal
statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be categorized under
executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may think of an executive order as
an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not. Presidential proclamations are strictly
reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes, such as the declaration of a day for
remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress
as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of the executive branch, executive orders do not
require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the president can utilize these orders to set up policy and
rules while ultimately negating any thought of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have
the ability to be applied to a wide range of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from
implementing internment camps during WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as
increasing the area of national forests. What makes executive orders such a hot topic is that
historically, these orders only regulated the internal operational factors of governmental/federal
agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public lands, but more recently, has

Compare Thistles And The Daffodils
Poetry Comparison Essay
Today I will be comparing Thistles by Ted Hughes and The Daffodils by William Wordsworth in this
essay.
In the poem Thistles , Ted Hughes describes the life cycle of the thistles, and how difficult is to rid
them for good. The poem does not have a rhyming pattern but uses much alliteration, and conveys a
negative mood, one that is aggressive and violent. In the second poem, Daffodils , it is the contrary,
embracing the speaker with glee and happy thoughts. In such a joyful company of flowers, a poet
could do nothing but be happy. The main difference between these two poems is the sense of mood,
one poem being the contrary of the other.
In the first poem, Thistles , Hughes uses alliteration such as the hoeing ... Show more content on

The poet further emphasizes the fierceness of the thistle by likening them to the Vikings, legendary
Scandinavian warriors. The final stanza explains how, when the thistles grow old and are cut down,
they fight back even more strongly because their seed pods burst and spread new seeds (their sons )
over the territory which had been cleared, consisting of parent plants.
In the second poem, The Daffodils , the title straightaway gives a positive feeling and vibe to the
reader, contrary to the poem Thistles , which leaves readers in a negative state purely based on the
word thistles . This poem is fairly simple to understand and is considered one of the loveliest and most
famous in the Wordsworth canon, visiting the subjects of nature and memory. In the first stanza of the
poem, the speaker uses first person to personalize what he says and to give more depth and meaning to
his words, and is compared metaphorically to a natural object, a cloud. The speaker is then shifted into
a tremendously happy tone when he describes the host of golden daffodils , using descriptive imagery
when saying that they were

How Carbon Is The Most Abundant Element
Carbon is the 15th most abundant element in the Earth s crust and is the 4th most abundant element by
mass in the universe. It is found in a large majority of organic material on Earth and its ability to bond
in many different ways allows for a large diversity of organic compounds. These organic compounds
that are formed in different shapes and structures are called allotropes. Carbon is a special element that
is the base for almost all organic compounds and since it can form many allotropes of itself, and its
allotropes have many different uses that can be applied to modern science. The most common
allotropes of carbon are: diamonds, amorphous carbon, graphite, nanotubes, and fullerenes. Some of
these allotropes have already made big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diamond is one of the most commonly known carbon allotropes. One of the properties that it is
known for is how hard it is. It is a natural material with the highest reading on the Vickers and Mohs
scale. Diamond also has a very high thermal conductivity. The reason it has these properties is mainly
due how the atoms are structured. This structure is a varied version of a face centered cubic and is
called a diamond lattice. These two properties are what diamonds are used for in major industrial
application. Since diamonds are always decaying to graphite, the properties vary depending on the
perfection of the crystal lattice and its orientation. Diamonds have other less important properties
when it comes to being used in industry. The difference in colours of diamonds, depends on impurities
in the crystal lattice structure that alters the wavelength of light that is absorbed. They also have,
luster, fluorescence, optical absorption, electrical properties, thermal conductivity, and thermal
stability. Diamonds are known for being used as jewelry, however the majority of mined diamonds are
used for industrial purposes. Since diamonds are super hard, they can be put into drill bits in order to
cut other really hard materials. They can cut other softer gemstones into a symmetrical or more
beautiful shape so they can be sold. Diamonds are used to conduct heat, they are used to coat
microchips to conduct electricity, and they are used in many

Company Culture Influences Behavior Within A Company
Businesses do not exist in a vacuum. It is hard to even imagine one that is completely isolated from
external input. In fact, they are constantly subjected to influence from both the outside and the inside.
In open systems, a relationship exists between a business and its surroundings in which awareness of
that constant input and output is vital. In order for a startup company like Everyday Indulgence to
move forward strategically and become successfully established, its leadership must identify and
consider both internal and external environments.
Stakeholders like employees, owners, and executives within a company as well as the forces that
impact the way they behave make up the internal environment. Such forces include the culture ...

Using the example of dessert delivery service, Everyday Indulgence, setting the tone within the startup
business is especially important early on, when there are only a few employees. A wide variety of
tasks will be shouldered by a small team of people and there is bound to be a significant learning
curve. Hiring individuals with values that are aligned with the company s is a good start and
continuous training with an ever present owner/manager will further develop employee confidence
and expertise. Mentoring and training employees leads to a desirable output in the form of both
product and service, while poorly trained staff produce the opposite. Communication, written, verbal,
and in the form of daily staff meetings will foster an atmosphere of teamwork, support, and
comradery, whereas lack of communication on such a small team will lead to disorganization and a
disconnected feeling among team members. The success or failure of startup companies like Everyday
Indulgence is greatly impacted by its internal environment.
Also a powerful influence on a company, the external environment, including both the general and
task/competitive environments, refers to all outside forces that affect said organization. Some general
environmental factors are the following: laws, economy,

Imagine you re listening to a speaker trying to convince you to donate money to help a foreign country

Would you feel inclined to donate money to this speaker s charity? How might this speaker improve

All speeches need to begin with an introduction, which you ve learned about in previous lessons. The
point of an introduction is to grab your audience s attention and provide an overview of what you re
going to speak about; in addition, your introduction needs to include a thesis statement: What point are
you arguing? All speech also need to end with a strong conclusion. The conclusion of a speech should
not simply summarize the main points. Instead, use your conclusion to convince your audience to take
action. Revisit the thesis in your conclusion: In light of the evidence you ve provided, why should
your audience now believe your thesis? Why is your opinion right ?
What happens in your speech between the introduction and the conclusion can vary. Two possible
models for structuring a persuasive speech include the following:
1. Problem/Solution: the first part of your speech explains the problem (More than 60 percent of
American adults are considered overweight or obese). The second part of your speech provides a
solution which includes meeting the obstacles and providing evidence for why your solution will work

Practice Of Trade After The World War I Essay
.1 Practice of trade before GATT
The history of GATT discussions and the present WTO are the birth right of commitments that the
countries have voluntarily agreed with each other. To appreciate the foundation of the present
blueprint of import protection across WTO member countries in addition to products and industries
within those countries, it is important to turn to the past. Western Europe after the World War I was
caught up with economic instability and disparity of the economic recovery following the World War
II was more evident in the context of international trade relations. Economic reconstruction after the
World War I was deficient in institutional machinery to make possible the reduction of trade barriers
that has arisen during the war and had become well established thereafter. The European countries had
faced political weaknesses and it was reflected in trade policies which was evident with the proposal
of equality of trade conditions in draft League of Nations was discarded in favour of a the provision
for the equitable treatment. The World Economic Conference held in 1927 found it indispensible to
call upon the governments to do away with maritime controls on trade, which incorporated, licensing
requirements, import quotas and foreign exchange controls. After over a decade of its formation, the
League of Nations had nevertheless had yet to sponsor any negotiations on liberalizing world trade
from high tariffs, and the commencement of the depression

20 000 Leagues Under The Sea Research Paper
In 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, three men are captured by a captain the forces them
on an underwater adventure. Captain Nemo uses his advanced technology and thinking to run away
from society. The underwater coal mine and how he used it was very helpful to not have to get in
contact with humans. Coal is most thought of as a land resource, and because he can get it underwater
he doesn t have to get it from land. Back in the 1860s the ocean was not a very discovered place, so
Nemo could go there without being discovered. Nemo says on page 311, Thereby making me

Finally, The most recurring piece of technology Nemo uses is his submarine, the Nautilus. The
Nautilus protects Nemo from outside people that may want to get in and limits his contact with
humans. It is a submarine, which is totally new and not many people go to the depth it does. Also, the

In some states there are provisions that will not honor living wills pertaining to pregnant women. Case
in point, Marlise Mun ̃oz from Texas was found unconscious at home by her husband, at the time Mrs.
Mun ̃oz was 14 weeks pregnant. A few days later it was determined that Mrs. Mun ̃oz was brain dead.
Although Marlise had advance directives in place, because of laws in the state of Texas, physicians
denied the woman in question requests not to receive life sustaining treatment due to the pregnancy.
Therefore, be sure to ask several questions and gain complete clarity on this subject. When one
decides to write their own living will, it can be incredibly detailed or as simple as the individual
desire. As a result, there are forms developed by one s state that assist in creating living wills. These
forms have many options listed to help an individual devise a clear and precise document revealing
one s end of life requirements. Haman (2004) has provided an example of the information that an
individual can include in a personal living will form: Including coverage for a persistent vegetative
state, even if the person s condition is not terminal; Specifying which medical procedures you do not

intravenous feeding); Stating that you do want life prolonging procedures; and, Having spaces for you

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Boomers
Communication Weaknesses
Boomers
Each generation s weakness is a subset of their communication preferences and strengths. Boomers
preferred method of communication necessitates multiple meetings, which can be rather time
consuming for other employees of a company. Boomers have also grown accustomed to email, and are
less likely to keep up with current technology trends. As of January 2017, new trends have signaled
the decline of email in the workplace, according to Laurie Beaver of Business Intelligence: informal
and engaging social networking apps are convenient, easy to use, and fast (2017). They may also take
longer to get feedback to people, because it is in their nature to take their time to provide thorough and
complete feedback. With older methods of communication on the decline, and new technologies
emerging, Boomers need to avoid the obsolescence of their current skill set by following new trends in
information technologies.
Gen X
Again, this generation inhabits a space between two very different generations, one which moves at a
steady pace, and one which constantly adjusts to the newest trends. Gen X lies somewhere in the
middle, where they rely on techniques they re comfortable with, without growing complacent.
Members of Generation X, according to De La Torre, grew up more skeptical of authority and rules,
placing high value on independence and flexibility (De La Torre, 2016). Communication with Gen
Xers needs to focus on meeting that preference, otherwise it will be inefficient. Work tends to run on
their own schedule, which can slow down internal processes and result in conservative deadlines to
allow scheduling discrepancies (Perine, 2012). Efficient time use both complements and conflicts with
setting a schedule independently: when focused, Gen Xers can increase productivity and accomplish
high volumes of work; when distracted, they inhibit their teams and decrease overall productivity.
Millennials
The same traits which make Millennials an asset to a company can also make them a liability.
Millennials prefer brief, frequent communications with their colleagues, which can interrupt others
work and cause distraction. Because of the frequency of those exchanges, this generation often leave

Essay On Klu Klux Klan
 Intro Extreme deviance is behavior, beliefs, or physical traits that are serious enough to cast
violators outside of the conventional society. The Klu Klux Klan is one of the most well known
deviant white supremacy groups throughout the world. The Klan promoted their white supremacy
ideas by participating in violent acts of lynching and burning crosses. They retreated into macho KKK
attacks, scourging the homes and churches with their destruction, trying to browbeat the blacks into
submission with violent outbursts and threats. However, the K.K.K. s main goal was to weaken the
reconstruction governments and retain power for the southerners who had been in confederacy. 
Norms The KKK murderers were deviant, at least according to northern white standards, but they
were the norm according to fearful southern thinking at that time. These were white men who were
hanging on a thread, afraid of true equality of the races for economic and deeply psychological and
sociological reasons. Merton s strain theory supports that disorder is sometimes an aspect of progress,
that the deviance brings attention to something that is happening within a particular context. The
whites did not murder the three individuals for the fun of it. They killed them to stop or try to stop the

is an overarching theme in that the labels serve to undermine and to subjugate Latinos, Asian

perceived deviance of Latinos and Latino youth.
In the book Punished by Victor Rios, he presents the argument that the consistent labeling by every
state run institution that cast young Latinos as criminals or cast at risk youth expected to commit
crimes is symptomatic of the social structures that creature the criminalization process of young
Latinos. Non state institutions as well as parents, who often seek help from them, are often advised to

5) and has actually made concessions that play into the labeling of community members as good
immigrant and bad immigrant. The labels of good and bad immigrant only helps to further normalize
the criminalization and dehumanization of people based on their migrant status. The logical
consequence of adopting a good immigrant and a bad immigrant binary is agreement that the
undocumented are criminals and thus the natural and race neutral solution must be to punish and
deport the undocumented for their reputed transgression not to challenge the underlying structural
reason people migrate. (Gonzales, p. 151) This leads to the fragmentation of the migrant population
and often leads to the splitting of families. The short term victories in immigration reform with the
onset of bills such as DACA (Deferred Action for Children Act) playing on the depiction of parents
forcing illegal migration on their children and the institutional recognition of it not being the child s
fault that their parent were criminals continues to deny the larger societal structures that continue to
only perpetuate deferred consequence under the guise of progress.
In Hector Tobar s book The Barbarian Nurseries, the labeling that occurs is that of undocumented
immigrant as criminal. The book, while fiction, illustrates how the concept of the good immigrant and
the bad immigrant come into play in societal structures. Because of white privilege and

There are so many people who are uneducated about genital herpes; it s more common than known.
There are at least 45 million people infected by this virus and many are as young as 12 years of age.
Studies show that 1 out of 5 adolescents/adults are infected with the Herpes Simplex Virus. 1 out of 4
women are infected with genital herpes. This virus is more common in women than in men likely
because of the male to female transmission.
Genital herpes can be passed through skin to skin contact. Once a person has contracted the virus it is
fairly easy to pass it along to someone else through various ways. The number one way is by having
sex with someone who is shedding the herpes virus either during an outbreak (As pertains to genital
herpes, the virus becomes active and produces visible symptoms, such as redness and sores) or during
a period with no symptoms. Kissing someone with herpes on the mouth, through casual, oral, anal,
and vaginal sex as well as skin to skin contact with the infected area. Objects such as toilet seats,
public seating, and hot tubs rarely spread the virus.
The signs and symptoms of genital herpes are different with each person who has the virus. Some
people with genital herpes mistake their symptoms for simple skin irritations such as razor burn, jock
itch, or even a yeast infection. People often assume that because the symptoms may

Albert Beveridge Analysis
The Spanish American war of 1898, although short in duration, effected policy in the United States for
years to come. As part of the Treaty of Paris, the United States acquired Puerto Rico and the Pacific
island of Guam while Spain granted independence to Cuba (Divine 694). The United States demanded
the Philippines as a condition of peace and quickly attempted to annex the islands (Pearson 19). This
led to the Philippine American War which lasted three years and claimed many lives on both sides.
Albert Beveridge, a newly elected U.S. Senator from Indiana was a leader in the fight for the

Argumentative Essay On Flat Tax
The current tax code for the United States is almost 74,000 pages long. Or to put that into a different
light: About 116 copies of Herman Melville s Moby Dick. It is small wonder that a few of the
announced candidates for President of the United States, have again begun to kick the tires on the
topic of a Flat Tax. But is a flat tax actually a solution to our country s growing tax complexity? What
are the potential economic effects of a flat tax (both positive and negative)? Finally, is a flat tax even a
viable solution? In short, will it work? As a concept, a flat tax is spectacular. Simplicity at its finest. As
a fiscal policy, I believe that same simplicity must be examined and inspected closely.
The federal tax code has a level of complexity so great, that reforming it should be the one thing
Republicans and Democrats can agree on. Instead, proposal after proposal calling for reform die in
Congress. And there have been a lot of proposals. Arlen Specter (D PA) put some form of a flat tax/tax
reform proposal into Congress s hands every year from 1995 2010. This is because, for the most part,
the fight for reform always comes down to a two sided debate. One side wants to keep the current
complex structure and the other sees no other alternative than blowing this current structure up and
moving to a flat rate system. All of this brings me to the arguments for/against the flat rate tax system.

dangerous to an individual s health and wellness. It is advisable to have your vision checked regularly
in order to correct this problem which can be quite straightforward and affordable. The methods to
follow in order to avoid such problems his to blink when working on the computer, take more breaks,

ways of preventing eyestrains and vision problems. In recent times, computer radiation has raised

The Main Characteristic Of Four Elemental Market Structures
Research Essay

Abstract
In this research essay, the key characteristic of four elemental market structures (i.e. monopoly,
oligopoly, perfect competition or monopolistic competition) and their derivatives (i.e. differentiated
oligopoly were identified and discussed. Meanwhile other doubts were addressed and being attended
to.
Such as:
To how much extent does the government (in the general sense) has control over the market
structures?
Over a relatively large time frame (a couple of years to a decade), whether are the market structures
ever changing or highly stable?
What are the basic instruments of a typical monetary policy? What does the Federal Reserve do? And
so on so forth.
Some economists claim that politicians manipulate the business cycle to increase their chances of
reelection. If they are right, we should expect economic growth just before national elections. But
what happens after the elections? What are the long term effects of political business cycles? Because
of these issues, some points this paper illustrated might be considered somewhat controversial.
Introduction Background Information
We live in a system of diverse sub systems.
Strikingly similar to an ecosystem, different market structures co exist. They are not particularly
advantageous over one another however.
Each market type has its own specific customers and specific cause to exist. Whatever occurs it

Bataan Death March Analysis
In the articles, Yukie Sasa made plans to retrace the Bataan Death March by foot over the course of
four days, starting at the base of Mariveles. Upon starting her walk, Sasa acknowledges that the
experience of POWs on the march would not be the same as hers. On October 13th, the walk began.
The author describes her first days being rainy at night and hot in the afternoon. In her writings, it is
evident that the underlying subject of retracing the march is to determine if it, was a systematic
atrocity by the Japanese military? Yukie Sasa recorded her journey in a journal format, listing dates,
distance covered, observations, weather, etc. The article included information from the War Crimes
Office that helped Sasa to accurately illustrate

Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead By Brearna Sandri
Shaun of the Dead
In this close viewing I will be using the films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, directed by Edgar
Wright, to show significant aspects/techniques of different scenes used in both films. I will be
focusing on the features of sound effects, dialogue and comparing near same scenes within two
different films and the aspects that Edgar Wright was trying to cover.
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have fence jumping scenes. In Shaun of the Dead, the scene is
opened with Shaun opening the gate quite forcefully along with the rest of his team. Shaun says The
Winchester s just over there and David says in a sarcastic tone, Just over there behind the 20 garden
fences? When David is saying the last bit of his sentence the camera pans over the fences in which
they have to jump to show audiences what they have to jump over. For example, to show why David is
being sarcastic towards Shaun, and why it s being used in that particular scene, Shaun then says What
s the matter, David? Never taken a shortcut before? , and smirks while turning behind, and tries to
jump over the fence but ends up making the fence fall over. He then picks himself back up and subtly
tries to make it seem like he didn t just break the fence. The background noise in this scene is filled
with car alarms, house alarms and deep music/sound effects. This creates the effect of a crisis
situation, as they are in a zombie apocalypse.

Women s Rights Movement During The Nineteenth Century
Brian Marshall Ms. Place APUSH I May 26, 2016 Women s Rights Movement Women in the
nineteenth century began to fight for their rights as they were inspired by other abolitionist
movements. Women were denied basic natural rights that were given to men. For example, women
were not allowed to vote or own property. They also earned less money than men, even if they were
working the same job. Men also had a more variety of opportunities in regarding jobs and careers.
Women were expected to care for the children and the household. This unfair treatment inspired
women to start abolitionist movements to gain equal rights to men. Although it was strongly opposed
by most men, the women s rights movement of the 1800 s was ineffective ... Show more content on

Women in the nineteenth century also lived under a system called the cult of domesticity. Under this
system, women were seen as the head of the household and there only job was to control their
household while the men had many opportunities for careers (ic.galegroup.com). Much like the
republican motherhood, this system had the mother in a separate, private sphere. Their main job was
to care for the house, prepare food, and take care of the children and the husband. Under this system,
women were also supposed to hold four virtues, piety, purity, submissiveness, and domesticity. Piety
meant faith in religion as women were not allowed to pursue intellectual topics. Purity meant a women
must remain faithful to their husbands and save their virginity until after marriage. Submission meant
that the women must be obedient to the husband as men were superior to women at this time.
Domesticity meant that the women s main focus would be on the household and her private sphere,
while only engaging in feminine activities such as housekeeping and cooking. The cult of domesticity
gave women a higher value in society and gave them a greater amount of responsibility as most
women believed the success of their family was in their hands. During the Industrial Revolution,
women began working in factories and textile mills. Employers often employed young women as they
could pay them less than men for their work in the factories. Women

Taking a Closer Look at Behaviorists Essay
Psychology is a science that focuses primarily on the study of the mind, but it can also be the study of
behavior. Behaviorism is a worldview that assumes a learner is essentially passive, responding to
environmental stimuli. The learner starts off as a clean slate and behavior is shaped through positive
reinforcement or negative reinforcement. Both positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement
increase the probability that the antecedent behavior will happen again. The study of only behavior in
Psychology is called Behaviorism. The Psychologists who study the school of Behaviorism go by the
title of Behaviorists or Behavioral Psychologists. Behaviorists have their own theories and principles
that they follow in their study. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pavlov sounded a bell when a group of dogs were eating. Pavlov continued this action for several
meals. After a while, Pavlov was able to sound the bell without giving the dogs food and the dogs
would salivate. This is because Pavlov conditioned their behavior so that the dogs would salivate at
the sound of the bell. Watson did something very similar with his Little Albert experiment. Watson and
Rosalie Rayner, a graduate student, conducted an experiment called Albert B on a nine month old boy
named Albert. In the Albert B experiment, Watson and Rayner showed Albert many white objects
including a white rabbit. Watson and Rayner gave Albert the white rabbit again, but this time they hit a
metal pipe with a hammer. The loud noise made Albert cry. They continued this process until the sight
of the white rabbit, without the noise of the pipe, made Albert cry. This proved that emotions can be
altered by changing an organism s behavior. John Broadus Watson was born in Greenville, South
Carolina on January 9, 1878. Watson grew up in a horrible home. Watson s father cheated on his
mother, and his terrible home life led him to be a trouble child. When Watson was in school, he would
harass the African American children that went there with him. Watson was also arrested twice for
violent behavior. This is very ironic because Watson was a Behaviorist. Watson attended Furman

Toco Toucan Research Paper
Measuring 63.5 cm (25 in.) in length, the Toco toucan is the largest of all toucans. Its black body and
white throat are overshadowed by its most recognizable trait: a large colorful beak. The bright orange
beak is about 19 cm (8 in.) long one third of the bird s total length. But despite its substantial size, the
beak weighs less than you may think. Toco toucans also use their beaks to pluck and peel fruit, their
main source of food. In addition, the beak houses a flat tongue of the same length, which helps the
toucan catch insects, frogs, and reptiles. Toco toucans also occasionally eat the eggs of other birds.
Although they spend a lot of time in trees, they are not very good at flying. Toucans mainly travel
among trees by hopping.

Analysis Of Riverbank Filteration In India
Sandhu et al.,(2011)worked on potential of riverbank filteration in India and found that the abstracted
water from all the RBF wells in Haridwar only requires disinfection by chlorination, and provides safe
drinking water even when facing high variations in water demand (such as during the Kumbh and
Ardh Kumbh Melas) and during monsoons.
Tyagi et al.,(2013) Studied River Water Quality Using River Bank Filtration in Uttarakhand, India and
found that This technique was found to be effective for removal of turbidity and bacterial

sufficient to meet the effective clean water supply or not consciuosly exploited.(Sandhu et al,2011)and
special attention should be given on settlements of RBF wells at the rural areas of Uttarakhand with
proper monitoring and quality checks to meet water scarcity and providing proper water supply to the

Joseph Stalin s Ignorance
On the death of Vladimir Lenin in 1924, competition emerged between leading Bolsheviks Leon
Trotsky and Joseph Stalin to succeed as Soviet leader. There were several reasons why Stalin, rather
than Trotsky, succeeded Lenin such as Trotsky s ignorance; Stalin s cunning; Trotsky s arrogance;
Stalin s ever increasing influence and Trotsky s relaxed attitude. In this essay I will be exploring the
contribution of Stalin s cunning, and both Trotsky s arrogance and ignorance that resulted in Stalin s
succession and Trotsky s fall from grace. Despite starting his political journey as a supporter of the
Menshevik wing (peaceful communism), Leon Trotsky became one of the paramount powers of the
Bolshevik party, leading their Red Army to victory during the Russian civil war of 1918 to 1921; so ...

This may have presented the committee members an attitude of superiority by Trotsky, as though he
was too important to be dealing with such inferior men and their childish matters.
Similarly, Trotsky seemed to be ignorant of Stalin s determination and no boundaries attitude to
becoming leader. Deutscher also wrote that Trotsky refrained from attacking Stalin as he felt secure .
In her book, Stalin: Man of Steel (1968), Elizabeth Roberts states that there was little doubt about the
Red Army s support of Trotsky, should he try to seize power. However, he failed to use his popularity
with the Red Army to his advantage because he did not recognise the threat of Stalin and the possible
future need he could have had for them.
It also appears that Trotsky did not realise his removal from his position of Head of the Army by Stalin
s suggestion was part of the latter s plan to clinch power and Robert s report states that Trotsky made

Who Is Madame Defarge In A Tale Of Two Cities
In Book The Second, of Charles Dickens s, A Tale of Two Cities, tensions are running high in France
as the revolution intensifies, which manifests itself in the theme of transformation. Dickens utilizes
characterization by portraying that it is not just the country that is transforming as the revolution goes
on, but the people who are living through it and fighting for what they believe in. Madame Defarge is
by far the best representation as she steadily turns from a kind women who knit to a cold ruthless
killer and one of the main contributors to the revolution. This transformation can first be seen when it
is revealed that Madam Defarge has been knitting a kill list, She has knitted it herself in her own code,

It is when the news that old Foulon, a member of the aristocratic class of France, had faked his own
death in order to escape the revolutionaries that Madame Defarge can truly be seen as a merciless
killer he was hauled to the nearest street corner where one of the fatal lamps swung and there Madame
Defarge let him go as a cat might have done to a mouse [...] Once he went aloft, and the rope broke,
and they caught him shrieking; twice he went aloft, and the rope broke, and they caught him shrieking;
then, the rope was merciful and held him, and his head is soon upon a pike (Dickens 223). Madame
Defarge is deliberately teasing the old man who caused pain and suffering to the peasants, as a
predator would tease its prey before it went in for the kill. This is just one aspect of her torment as
Foulon then has to go through the process of being hung three times before it is finally successful. In
this scene, Madame Defarge has without a doubt transformed from the woman quietly knitting in the
wine shop, to a calculated and ruthless

Government Conspiracy Theory
Government or Controlled Demolition The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated
terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda in the United States on the morning of
Tuesday, September 11, 2001. They attacked the Twin Towers in New York City. There are different
conspiracy theories with the 9/11 attack but the most important conspiracy theory is that the collapse
of the twin towers were the result of controlled demolition by the government rather than structural
failure due to impact and fire. Now the question remains, was it controlled demolition or was it
terrorist attacking the World Trade Center on purpose? This conspiracy theory revolves around
authorities knowing about the attackers and also guiding them to complete their terror attack. None of
the deaths would have happened without the deliberate unplugging of Americas air defense. The twin
tower did not fall of plane impacts or fire. People claim that jet fuel doesn t melt steel beams. It was a
controlled explosion by the government. Our mission is to expose the official lies in a way that
inspires the people to overcome denial and understand the truth. People want answers to what
happened that morning, devastation all around. Conspiracy theorists believe that the government
dismissed all the signs that were in their face because this attack was a controlled demolition. Dr.
Griffin concluded that, it is already possible to know, beyond a reasonable doubt, one very important
thing: the

Albert Einstein Impact
Einstein: A World Changer
Imagine you are sitting in a room and you look down at your phone as it says it s 1:00 p.m. How do
you know it is actually 1:00? If it said 2:00 a.m. would you believe it if it was sunny outside? Without
Albert Einstein, we would not have many things including our current understanding of time. Albert
Einstein had a positive effect on the future of the world because without his discoveries many of today
s inventions would be non existent. He changed the way scientists view everything from matter and
energy, as well as light, Time Magazine even named him the most influential person of the 20th
century.
Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany. He would not
remember the place he was born, as his family moved six weeks later to Munich. Albert Einstein grew
up in a secular Jewish family. His father Hermann Einstein was a salesman and engineer, and with his
brother founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein Cie, a Munich based company that manufactured
electrical equipment. At the age of five, Einstein was given a compass by his father for his birthday.
Einstein would become amazed at the unknown behind the compass and would continue this interest
in why and how things worked for the rest of his childhood. Growing up, Einstein had trouble with
speech and social abilities, and for hours Einstein could play by himself twiddling with anything that
amused his mind. This independence made Einstein question authority, often

St. Ignatius Of Loyola And The Spiritual Exercises
When we think about the most known spiritualities within the Christian tradition, it is common to hear
the Company of Jesus, or Jesuits, as one of relevance, and which a lot people are acquainted with.
People would even easily recognize St. Ignatius of Loyola, its founder, and his most important work,
the Spiritual Exercises. However, when we are asked to mention Christianity s most notable mystics,
names like St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross or St. Gertrude the Great come to light, but St.
Ignatius is seldom considered. In fact, it just takes a simple internet search to notice that his name does
not make it in many lists of church mystics.
This work proposes to present St Ignatius of Loyola s mystical nature, and how his mysticism was the
foundation of Ignatian Spirituality and its importance for The Spiritual Exercises.
The term mysticism is a term that has had different connotations throughout history. According to the
Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, the term Mysticism comes from the Greek word that means to
conceal , therefore in early Christianity it was used to refer to hidden allegorical interpretations of
Scripture, for example to refer to the mystery of Jesus in the Eucharist. Later, the term began to
denote, mystical theology, including direct experiences of the divine. This led philosophers to focus
then, on the aspect of mystical experiences .
But what is a mystical experience? Once again, the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, defines
mystical experience as: A (purportedly) super sense perceptual or sub sense perceptual experience
granting acquaintance of realities or states of affairs that are of a kind not accessible by way of sense
perception, somatosensory modalities, or standard introspection. Others define it simply as an
experience of the divine. On the other hand, St. John of the Cross describes the mystical experience,
when the soul is brought into a mystical state. He says, . . . when once the soul is brought into this
other state, it acts not at all with its faculties, . . . Then God communicates Himself to it passively,
even as to one who has his eyes open, so that light is communicated to him passively, without his
doing more than keep them open. And this

Security Standards And Security Safety Standards
Government Security Standards
The government and organizations are to comply with security laws and regulations in order to fully
operate and maintain protection of information systems. Some of these security laws and regulations
may vary for every industry and with some organizations; however, implementing security standards
with a broad in scope provides reliable reasonable security. In many cases reasonable security
implemented throughout the information system can include a high level of protection in the operation
of government and organization systems. There are best practices and risk management frameworks
tools to consider when providing a higher level of security in the performance and protection of
information systems. It s key to maintain effective security policies that are fulfilled by security
standards and tools to help manage the protection of the information systems.
Security standards are required to carry out the details of an effective security policy. One common
standard in security standards is to ensure ethics are maintained in a lawful way. The difference
between government and commercial security standards is government security standards focus on
compliance with security policies that deal with national security; whereas, health organizations
maintain security standards that focus on compliance with security policy that ensure the privacy of
health records. The security policy provides the rules of protection for the information system and

The Cost Of Tax Losses
1. Introduction: In general term, loses in the business occur whenever company s total expenses
exceed its total income. And generally in every country, business in a loss position do not have to pay
income tax. The main aim of the report is to make comparison of Losses in terms of tax among three
countries New Zealand, Australia and Nepal 2. New Zealand: Expenses and losses are deductible to
the extent that they are incurred in the acquisition of assessable income or incur in carrying the
business for that purpose, provided that they are not a capital or private or domestic nature or fact
relating to the gaining of exempt income. The treatment of tax losses is a crucial part of The Basic Tax
Equation (ITA 2007). A net loss is created when the annual gross income of a tax payer is less than
their total deductions. As part of the basic tax equation, available tax losses are subtracted from net
income to give the taxable income (Alley, et al., 2014). 2.1 Treatment of Losses: Individuals: Tax loss
of investment, business or residence can be offset against other income (including wages and salaries)
over years or compensate and carried forward to the income of upcoming years. Partnership: Tax loss
is distributed to each partner according to shareholding. The loss can be carried forward to next year
and offset against the partner s assessable income. Limited partnership: After income year (2008 09),
deduction incurred from limited partner is denied to the extent

Education And Social Economic Reward
We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The
more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education
we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation
between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live
happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills
that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume
that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our
world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the
rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will
be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere
else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter
is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same
opportunities either. The group in America that obtains the best education is the upper class while the
lower class students are left with lower odds of education.
One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the
conflict theory. Karl

Incest, Murder, And Suicide
Incest, murder, and suicide; many readers regard Oedipus the King as a story of a tragic hero unable to
alter his course of fate. Fate is defined as a power that is believed to control what happens in the future
(Merriam Webster). It is believed in Greek Mythology that many aspects of a person s life were
determined by the three mythical women known as Fates. These were three sister goddesses that
appeared in Greek and Roman mythology and were believed to have spun out a child s destiny at
birth. They determined when life began, when it ended, and everything in between. At the birth of
each man they appeared spinning, measuring, and cutting the thread of life. However not everything
was inflexible or predetermined. A man destined to become a great warrior one day cold still choose
what he wanted to do on any given day. The gods cold simply intervene with decisions that could be
helpful or harmful. In a sense, they controlled the metaphorical life of every mortal born ( The Three
Fates: Destiny s Deities of Ancient Greece and Rome ). Oracles or prophets were often times used to
help see into the future in an effort to possibly change the outcome. However, fate cannot be avoided
or altered even if using free will, it is who we are or who we are meant to be, it is set into motion the
day we are born. Websters dictionary defines free will as freedom of humans to make choices that are
not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention (Merriam Webster). As the

  • 2. The Lord Of The Flies Critical Analysis Literature doesn t necessarily have to fit it into the reader s life, novels like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984 lack major connections to teenage life, but are still taught in school, a book should teach a lesson or give food for thought, this book does. The Lord of the Flies is a novel that has become a mainstay in high school literature for decades, some detractors of this book believe that, since it has nothing to do with high school teens, its main audience, it should be removed from public schools. However, the Lord of the Flies acts as a social experiment, allowing for discussion of the way rules control our interactions in society. In addition to this, the book shouldn t be removed from school since it also teaches how young people are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, those with darker intentions like Roger, will act and follow through on their darkest desires once there s nothing there to stop them. This holds true to how teens interact with laws in society, like deciding to listen to a rule or not, a rule being an obstacle in the way of someone s plans, or a law that is viewed as the best for society. The book should be maintained as a standard in the classroom because it discusses the topics of innocence, bystanderism, and vulnerability. Out of ignorance, in the pouring rain and lightning, The clan of boys savagely beat Simon to death. They had thought he was the mythical beast on the island. Many excuses were made, but one to point out is Piggy s, That s right we was on the outside, we never seen nothing (Golding 158) he exclaimed, after the topic of Simon s death arose. Bystanding while bad things happen to others is a common theme, a belief that if you ignore it, it ll go away, like how the boys decide if they deny they were at the scene of Simon s death, it ll make feel slightly less responsible for it, although they were all part of it. They try to deny their loss of innocence, and make them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Amy Landon s The Emergency Room At Marshall I Client System Problem A white, middle class, 48 year old female by the name of Amy Landon (alias name) was brought into the emergency room at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital in Greenville, SC by her husband Dalton Landon (alias name). The husband reported he has been married to Amy for 17 years and they have two children: a son age 9 and a daughter age 7. Amy has been seeing a psychiatrist ever since her first anxiety attack 4 years ago. My patient has also been diagnosed with having agoraphobia. Individuals diagnosed with agoraphobia experience the symptoms of a fast pounding heart, breathing problems, nausea, dizziness and sweating (Melinda Ratini, 2005). My patient experiences all of these symptoms at once and it causes her body to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two theories I will utilize from this course in order to explain my patient s behavior are the psychodynamic theory and the systems theory. Theories to Explain Behavior The psychodynamic theory would explain an individual s personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces, such as unconscious desires and beliefs. In the early 20th century, Sigmund Freud proposed the psychodynamic theory consists of the id (accountable for instincts and pleasure seeking), the superego (attempts to submit to the rules of parents and society), and the ego (which facilitates between the id and superego according to the stresses of reality) (Cherry, n.d.). Psychodynamic theories believe childhood experiences shape a person s personality. The systems theory would focus on the micorsystems, which are the interpersonal relations experienced by the developing person. Amy s challenge will also be explained through her mesosystem, this would be the linkage and processes that take place between two or more setting containing the developing person (ST article ). Lastly through the systems theory Amy s challenge will be analyzed through her macrosystem which is a societal blueprint for a particular culture. • 4. Executive Orders Of The American Presidency Executive Orders in the American Presidency By Niraj Patel POLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a federal statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be categorized under executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may think of an executive order as an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not. Presidential proclamations are strictly reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes, such as the declaration of a day for remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of the executive branch, executive orders do not require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the president can utilize these orders to set up policy and rules while ultimately negating any thought of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have the ability to be applied to a wide range of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from implementing internment camps during WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as increasing the area of national forests. What makes executive orders such a hot topic is that historically, these orders only regulated the internal operational factors of governmental/federal agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public lands, but more recently, has ... • 5. Compare Thistles And The Daffodils Poetry Comparison Essay Today I will be comparing Thistles by Ted Hughes and The Daffodils by William Wordsworth in this essay. In the poem Thistles , Ted Hughes describes the life cycle of the thistles, and how difficult is to rid them for good. The poem does not have a rhyming pattern but uses much alliteration, and conveys a negative mood, one that is aggressive and violent. In the second poem, Daffodils , it is the contrary, embracing the speaker with glee and happy thoughts. In such a joyful company of flowers, a poet could do nothing but be happy. The main difference between these two poems is the sense of mood, one poem being the contrary of the other. In the first poem, Thistles , Hughes uses alliteration such as the hoeing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet further emphasizes the fierceness of the thistle by likening them to the Vikings, legendary Scandinavian warriors. The final stanza explains how, when the thistles grow old and are cut down, they fight back even more strongly because their seed pods burst and spread new seeds (their sons ) over the territory which had been cleared, consisting of parent plants. In the second poem, The Daffodils , the title straightaway gives a positive feeling and vibe to the reader, contrary to the poem Thistles , which leaves readers in a negative state purely based on the word thistles . This poem is fairly simple to understand and is considered one of the loveliest and most famous in the Wordsworth canon, visiting the subjects of nature and memory. In the first stanza of the poem, the speaker uses first person to personalize what he says and to give more depth and meaning to his words, and is compared metaphorically to a natural object, a cloud. The speaker is then shifted into a tremendously happy tone when he describes the host of golden daffodils , using descriptive imagery when saying that they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Diamond is one of the most commonly known carbon allotropes. One of the properties that it is known for is how hard it is. It is a natural material with the highest reading on the Vickers and Mohs scale. Diamond also has a very high thermal conductivity. The reason it has these properties is mainly due how the atoms are structured. This structure is a varied version of a face centered cubic and is called a diamond lattice. These two properties are what diamonds are used for in major industrial application. Since diamonds are always decaying to graphite, the properties vary depending on the perfection of the crystal lattice and its orientation. Diamonds have other less important properties when it comes to being used in industry. The difference in colours of diamonds, depends on impurities in the crystal lattice structure that alters the wavelength of light that is absorbed. They also have, luster, fluorescence, optical absorption, electrical properties, thermal conductivity, and thermal stability. Diamonds are known for being used as jewelry, however the majority of mined diamonds are used for industrial purposes. Since diamonds are super hard, they can be put into drill bits in order to cut other really hard materials. They can cut other softer gemstones into a symmetrical or more beautiful shape so they can be sold. In fact, they are constantly subjected to influence from both the outside and the inside. In open systems, a relationship exists between a business and its surroundings in which awareness of that constant input and output is vital. In order for a startup company like Everyday Indulgence to move forward strategically and become successfully established, its leadership must identify and consider both internal and external environments. Hiring individuals with values that are aligned with the company s is a good start and continuous training with an ever present owner/manager will further develop employee confidence and expertise. Mentoring and training employees leads to a desirable output in the form of both product and service, while poorly trained staff produce the opposite. Communication, written, verbal, and in the form of daily staff meetings will foster an atmosphere of teamwork, support, and comradery, whereas lack of communication on such a small team will lead to disorganization and a disconnected feeling among team members. The success or failure of startup companies like Everyday Indulgence is greatly impacted by its internal environment. Practice Of Trade After The World War I Essay .1 Practice of trade before GATT The history of GATT discussions and the present WTO are the birth right of commitments that the countries have voluntarily agreed with each other. To appreciate the foundation of the present blueprint of import protection across WTO member countries in addition to products and industries within those countries, it is important to turn to the past. Western Europe after the World War I was caught up with economic instability and disparity of the economic recovery following the World War II was more evident in the context of international trade relations. Economic reconstruction after the World War I was deficient in institutional machinery to make possible the reduction of trade barriers that has arisen during the war and had become well established thereafter. The European countries had faced political weaknesses and it was reflected in trade policies which was evident with the proposal of equality of trade conditions in draft League of Nations was discarded in favour of a the provision for the equitable treatment. The World Economic Conference held in 1927 found it indispensible to call upon the governments to do away with maritime controls on trade, which incorporated, licensing requirements, import quotas and foreign exchange controls. • 12. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Boomers Communication Weaknesses Boomers Each generation s weakness is a subset of their communication preferences and strengths. Boomers preferred method of communication necessitates multiple meetings, which can be rather time consuming for other employees of a company. Boomers have also grown accustomed to email, and are less likely to keep up with current technology trends. As of January 2017, new trends have signaled the decline of email in the workplace, according to Laurie Beaver of Business Intelligence: informal and engaging social networking apps are convenient, easy to use, and fast (2017). They may also take longer to get feedback to people, because it is in their nature to take their time to provide thorough and complete feedback. With older methods of communication on the decline, and new technologies emerging, Boomers need to avoid the obsolescence of their current skill set by following new trends in information technologies. Gen X Again, this generation inhabits a space between two very different generations, one which moves at a steady pace, and one which constantly adjusts to the newest trends. Gen X lies somewhere in the middle, where they rely on techniques they re comfortable with, without growing complacent. Members of Generation X, according to De La Torre, grew up more skeptical of authority and rules, placing high value on independence and flexibility (De La Torre, 2016). Communication with Gen Xers needs to focus on meeting that preference, otherwise it will be inefficient. Work tends to run on their own schedule, which can slow down internal processes and result in conservative deadlines to allow scheduling discrepancies (Perine, 2012). Efficient time use both complements and conflicts with setting a schedule independently: when focused, Gen Xers can increase productivity and accomplish high volumes of work; when distracted, they inhibit their teams and decrease overall productivity. • 13. Essay On Klu Klux Klan  Intro Extreme deviance is behavior, beliefs, or physical traits that are serious enough to cast violators outside of the conventional society. The Klu Klux Klan is one of the most well known deviant white supremacy groups throughout the world. The Klan promoted their white supremacy ideas by participating in violent acts of lynching and burning crosses. They retreated into macho KKK attacks, scourging the homes and churches with their destruction, trying to browbeat the blacks into submission with violent outbursts and threats. However, the K.K.K. s main goal was to weaken the reconstruction governments and retain power for the southerners who had been in confederacy.  Norms The KKK murderers were deviant, at least according to northern white standards, but they were the norm according to fearful southern thinking at that time. These were white men who were hanging on a thread, afraid of true equality of the races for economic and deeply psychological and sociological reasons. The labels of good and bad immigrant only helps to further normalize the criminalization and dehumanization of people based on their migrant status. It is small wonder that a few of the announced candidates for President of the United States, have again begun to kick the tires on the topic of a Flat Tax. But is a flat tax actually a solution to our country s growing tax complexity? What are the potential economic effects of a flat tax (both positive and negative)? Finally, is a flat tax even a viable solution? In short, will it work? As a concept, a flat tax is spectacular. Simplicity at its finest. As a fiscal policy, I believe that same simplicity must be examined and inspected closely. The federal tax code has a level of complexity so great, that reforming it should be the one thing Republicans and Democrats can agree on. Instead, proposal after proposal calling for reform die in Congress. And there have been a lot of proposals. Arlen Specter (D PA) put some form of a flat tax/tax reform proposal into Congress s hands every year from 1995 2010. This is because, for the most part, the fight for reform always comes down to a two sided debate. All of this brings me to the arguments for/against the flat rate tax system. Underreporting (whether intentional or unintentional) and tax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If it said 2:00 a.m. would you believe it if it was sunny outside? Without Albert Einstein, we would not have many things including our current understanding of time. Albert Einstein had a positive effect on the future of the world because without his discoveries many of today s inventions would be non existent. He changed the way scientists view everything from matter and energy, as well as light, Time Magazine even named him the most influential person of the 20th century. Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany. He would not remember the place he was born, as his family moved six weeks later to Munich. Albert Einstein grew up in a secular Jewish family. His father Hermann Einstein was a salesman and engineer, and with his brother founded Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein Cie, a Munich based company that manufactured electrical equipment. At the age of five, Einstein was given a compass by his father for his birthday. Einstein would become amazed at the unknown behind the compass and would continue this interest in why and how things worked for the rest of his childhood. In fact, it just takes a simple internet search to notice that his name does not make it in many lists of church mystics. This work proposes to present St Ignatius of Loyola s mystical nature, and how his mysticism was the foundation of Ignatian Spirituality and its importance for The Spiritual Exercises. The term mysticism is a term that has had different connotations throughout history. According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, the term Mysticism comes from the Greek word that means to conceal , therefore in early Christianity it was used to refer to hidden allegorical interpretations of Scripture, for example to refer to the mystery of Jesus in the Eucharist. Later, the term began to denote, mystical theology, including direct experiences of the divine. This led philosophers to focus then, on the aspect of mystical experiences . But what is a mystical experience? Once again, the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, defines mystical experience as: A (purportedly) super sense perceptual or sub sense perceptual experience granting acquaintance of realities or states of affairs that are of a kind not accessible by way of sense perception, somatosensory modalities, or standard introspection. Others define it simply as an experience of the divine. On the other hand, St. John of the Cross describes the mystical experience, when the soul is brought into a mystical state. He says, . . . when once the soul is brought into this other state, it acts not at all with its faculties, . . . Then God communicates Himself to it passively, even as to one who has his eyes open, so that light is communicated to him passively, without his doing more than keep them open. And this ... • 35. Education And Social Economic Reward We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The education we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct correlation between education and social economic reward and that people with high education usually live happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education and the skills that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying jobs. We assume that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily ever after right? In our world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are taught that if you play by the rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will open doors for you, and you will be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV, news, radio and practically everywhere else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and the key to success the truth of the matter is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is getting the same level of education or the same opportunities either. One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the conflict theory. Karl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Incest, Murder, And Suicide Incest, murder, and suicide; many readers regard Oedipus the King as a story of a tragic hero unable to alter his course of fate. Fate is defined as a power that is believed to control what happens in the future (Merriam Webster). It is believed in Greek Mythology that many aspects of a person s life were determined by the three mythical women known as Fates. These were three sister goddesses that appeared in Greek and Roman mythology and were believed to have spun out a child s destiny at birth. They determined when life began, when it ended, and everything in between. At the birth of each man they appeared spinning, measuring, and cutting the thread of life. However not everything was inflexible or predetermined. A man destined to become a great warrior one day cold still choose what he wanted to do on any given day. The gods cold simply intervene with decisions that could be helpful or harmful. In a sense, they controlled the metaphorical life of every mortal born ( The Three Fates: Destiny s Deities of Ancient Greece and Rome ). Oracles or prophets were often times used to help see into the future in an effort to possibly change the outcome. However, fate cannot be avoided or altered even if using free will, it is who we are or who we are meant to be, it is set into motion the day we are born. Websters dictionary defines free will as freedom of humans to make choices that are not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention (Merriam Webster). As the ...
