Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease that primarily affects young women and can involve multiple organs, with common symptoms including fatigue, arthritis, and skin rashes. Diagnostic criteria include the presence of autoantibodies and various clinical manifestations, and treatment focuses on symptom management and preventing organ damage, often using corticosteroids and immunosuppressives. Despite its chronic nature, the 5-year survival rate exceeds 90%, although the exact cause of SLE remains unclear.
