Analysis Of The Unluckiest Generation
My oldest sister has always been a hard worker. She was the top percent of her class, always has good
grades and graduated with a high GPA. She even did all this with a job. But when she attempted to be
an adult and rent an apartment with her friend it didn t go as planned and she later moved back in with
us. Many of these situations like this happen to this generation why? what is causing this delay in
adulthood? In the article the unluckiest generation: what will become of the millennials , Derek
Thompson explains why generation Y is unluckiest economically. Throughout the article Thompson
goes back and forth giving negative and positive things generation Y has. Thompson mentions how
generation Y has gone through many terrible events, but it did not prepare them for the economic
sledgehammer after the collapse of the market. He states that this can affect generation Y for the rest
of their working lives. Thompson argues that because of the bad economy, adults are not moving out
their parents home and is causing millennials not to buy houses. He believe that because generation Y
is not buying houses or cars it is causing the economy not to move forward. He acknowledges that this
generation is the most educated but that it also comes with problems. However, Thompson includes
the positives of cheaper food, apparel, and entertainment. In the article, generation nice by Sam
Tanenhaus, he talks about how millennials receive a lot of attention compared to other

A Gaseous Substance
PVD is similar to CVD but the plasma is induced from solid material through ionisation of a gaseous
substance (sputtering) or through evaporation. Processing is done in a vacuum, where the deposition
material is excited with plasma to form vapour. Reactive gas is then introduced which reacts with the
vapour and the resulting compound adheres to the substrate. Parts undergo multiaxial rotation to
produce uniform coating thickness. This is a high temperature process, generally 400 800K, generally
used when electro plating is not viable.12 14 As with CVD, there are multiple process variants
including evaporation, ion plating and sputtering PVD.
Commonly, it is used to repair abrasively damaged components due to ease of implementation and
portability. Comparatively, this process uses low temperature, so no metallurgical substrate changes
occur, minimising dimensional changes due to material distortion. Disadvantages include the line of
sight nature of the process, only allowing coatings deposition on visible surfaces. This makes coating
small or deep cavities difficult and therefore other deposition techniques must be used.12,16 An
overview of these and additional surface processing techniques is given in Figure 4.5.
Many techniques exist to affect the surface properties of materials without altering chemical
composition, referred to as surface hardening. Commonly this is done by flame hardening, induction
hardening and shot peening. Additionally, surfaces can be hardened by

Huns And Romans Relationship
Knowing about the relationship between the Romans and the Huns is extremely important. The
Romans wrote everything known about the Huns. The Huns didn t write any of their history. Thus
making it important to look and see if the relationships between the Eastern and Western roman
empires and the Huns were good or bad. By learning about the relationships between the Romans and
the Huns, historians would be able to analyze the text written and come up with a more accurate story
of what may have happened. Treaties between the Romans and the Huns rarely lasted. In 439 the
Romans made a deal with the Huns. The Romans had to return all Hun refugees and no longer offer
assistance to those who crossed the Danube. The Romans could not enter into an

Rene Descartes Second Meditation Essay
René Descartes, a rationalist philosopher finds uncertainty in almost everything, including his senses,
memory, body and the physical world. Everything besides the fact he himself is a res cogitans
(thinking thing). He puts forth this idea in his second meditation of his most famous works,
Meditations On First Philosophy, published in 1641. This analytic style of writing opens by
considering any belief that was the slightest bit doubtful, as false. Descartes felt the need for this
hyperbolic doubt in order to reach an impartial truth. He then takes you through the thought process
that led him to the one thing that lies beyond all doubt. He finds certainty in the statement Cogito, ergo
sum or I think, therefore I am. FOOTNOTE The first Meditation in Descartes Meditations On First
Philosophy, is based on doubting almost everything he once believed as true. When Descartes found
that beliefs he had were false, he realized all of his beliefs could be threatened. He embraced
scepticism and refused to accept anything that it is possible to ... Show more content on

FOOTNOTE Descartes started his thought process with making an effort of defining himself. He tried
using words such as man or rational animal. The problem with using these terms are you then have to
go on to define what man and rational mean. FOOTNOTE In the first meditation, Descartes casts his
soul, its capability and his body into doubt. Descartes wonders if this means he simply does not exist?
Although for him to convince himself that his beliefs are false, he must exist. Even if he is being
deceived by a demon or God, he must exist in order to be deceived at all. There must be an I that can

Dissociative Identity Disorder ( Dissociative Disorder )
Dissociative Identity Disorder is a disorder distinguished by the existence of two or more distinct
personality states. It is also known as DID or Multiple Personality Disorder. It is very rare, with only
20,000 to 200,000 known US cases per year. Currently, there is no known cure, but treatment can
sometimes help. Many believe that DID can be caused by a significant trauma and is used as a coping
mechanism to help avoid bad memories. The disorders most often form in kids victim to long term
physical, sexual or emotional abuse or, sometimes just a home environment that s frightening or
highly unpredictable. The stress of war or natural disasters close by also can bring on dissociative
disorders.
Dissociative identity disorder is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personalities.
Each may have a unique name, personal history, and characteristics. The behavioral aspects are:
impulsivity, self destructive behavior, or self harm Mood: anxiety, feeling detached from self, or mood
swings. The psychological aspects consist of: altered consciousness, depression, or flashbacks. Also
common: amnesia or blackout. The only treatment is talk therapy. The therapies are: cognitive
behavioral therapy, family therapy, psychotherapy. Dissociative Identity Disorder is often confused
with Schizophrenia, but they are very different. Schizophrenia is a violent mental illness involving
chronic psychosis, made distinctive mainly by hearing or seeing hallucinations and thinking

Like The Sea Poetic Techniques
In 2009 Alicia Keys released her album The Element of Freedom , on this album her son Like the Sea
compares being in love to the sea. This album released a year before she got married so she was
speaking from her experiences. Like the Sea by Alicia Keys use similes and repetition to demonstrate
the ups and downs that come with love and make love complex. Alicia Keys talks about love in the
majority of her songs. In her music listeners can hear the change from looking for love to being in
love. In Like the Sea she addresses the conflict of the difficulty of being in love. In the song she is
speaking to people in love because couples have to take the ups with the downs to stay in love. Within
the song the figurative antagonist is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of all these comparisons help find another meaning to love for people who have never felt
it before. The first line of the song is Love is the like the sea and this line sets the listener up for all the
deeper comparisons and gives the main parallel of the song. In the song Alicia Keys compares being
lost at sea and seeing the light from a light house to being in a happy and safe relationship when she
says, So when you see the light. Like a ship in the night. You have found the place . The comparison
really expresses the feeling that someone would get if they were lost at sea and seen a light house then
they would be filled with a huge amount of happiness and a sense of safety. In lines closely following,
she compares seeing the distant shore when someone is lost at sea to being in a safe and happy
relationship when she says, You ve been looking for. Like a distant shore. Don t you ever look back
again . Again she is talking about someone finding peace and happiness in a relationship. Alicia Keys
also say that love Leave you on your knees and this is accurate because love makes people weak and
vulnerable. The similes used in this song give the listener the advice to cherish the good times with the
person they love and work through the

he stated that no testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such a kind,
that its falsehood would be more miraculous, than the fact, which it endeavors to establish ([2]). This
statement describes that miracles are not justified by reports or statements and there are no
testimonials for miracles. For example, Jesus resurrection [3], the original witness may be wrong
whether they saw Jesus or may be the report with the Paul may be wrong. He also believed that
miracle reports are illogical. He stated that people have faith on miracles due to holy belief but
without reasons. Hume also said that There must be a uniform experience against every miraculous
event, otherwise the event cannot be taken into consideration. For example, miracle of Jesus walks on
water. If Jesus can walk on water then why can t other people experience it. We can see that the above
two examples are against the laws of nature. According to him miracles would satisfy some certain
criteria s. Those events should have Witness, evidence, logic, experience. He also told that miracles
are reported by ignorant people. Finally, he concluded that miracles are impossible. Miracles are

Relationship Between Tom Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson
Fitzgerald developes Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson as unlikable, unjust and careless characters in
this passage in chapter two. Myrtle Wilson is married to George Wilson, while Tom Buchanan is
married to Daisy. The two have an affair and use the small apartment in New York to be together.
Cheating is unethical and is often frowned upon. This may be one of the reasons why Fitzgerald
decided to portray the two characters the way he did. Fitzgerald uses word choice, diction and detail to
develop the two characters. Myrtle Wilson, in the second paragraph, let four taxi cabs drive past
before she selected one. This diction used by the author develops Myrtle as a high maintenance
character. On the top of the second page, she asks if the dog was a boy or a girl very delicately.
FItzgerald used the word delicately to further develop Myrtle as a delicate and frail character. Myrtle s
physical appearance is described as, She had changed her dress to a brown figured muslin which
stretched tight over her rather wide hips as Tom helped her to the platform in New York, . Fitzgerald
dropped many hints that Myrtle was an immoral and unjust character, making her seem to the reader

protruding evidence of Tom s personality comes directly after the breeder of the dogs announced that
the dog that they purchased was a boy. After being told this Tom immediately declares that it was a

the dog owner. Tom s physical appearance is not described in this passage for it would not add to his

Theme Of Fate In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The novella, chronicle of a Death Foretold ,raises the question of (whether fate controls our lives more
than we think). Fate is an important theme in this novel because it can not be changed. Marquez
believes that even if you know your fate, you can not change the outcome. Marquez shows that people
cannot alter their fate through the plight of the characters Santiago Nasar, Angela Vicario and the twin
brothers. Foremost, Marquez starts the first line of the book on the day they were going to kill him,
Santiago Nasar got up at five thirty in the morning to wait for the boat the bishop was coming on
(Marquez 3) to illustrate our fate is decided before we are born. Marquez lets the reader know that

Theme Between Rear Window And Disturbia
Sitting alone trapped inside my home watching my neighbors. This setting is a description of the plot
in the films Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock (1954) and Disturbia by D.J Carusso(2007).These two
films contain many similar themes which are a part of the movie s plot but are slightly different. The
two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women
are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of
Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The films are so alike
in comparison and little in contrast that it would lead you to believe that Disturbia is a modern remake
of Rear window. First off let s discuss the voyeurism presented in both of the films. In the film Rear
window Jeff is shown on numerous occasions was shown watching a woman from his window
dancing and, changing in her underwear while smiling at the sight. This form of voyeurism is shown
in Disturbia when kale is also shown watching his neighbor Ashley from his window on many
occasions while she is swimming and changing clothes. Kale also was shown watching women in
swim wear on his TV. The contrast of voyeurism in the films is that in Disturbia it is shown more. The
theme of voyeurism is presented almost the exact same way between the two films. Secondly in both
films women are treated rudely, disrespectfully and are the objects in which violence is inflicted upon.

Manifest Destiny and Race
Laurence Mandin Professor Charles Turner M.A. J.D. History 18 25 March 2011 Midterm Question
#1 part 2: What impact did the English view of race have on American society? (Worth 50 points)
note: I felt it was more logical for my purposes to place part 2 first. The English view of race
developed directly from their perceptions of themselves, from the ideas of their own racial origins,
their own ethnocentricity. This perception became a concept that had its roots in 16th and 17th
Century England. It involved their ancestry to the peoples of England prior to the Norman Conquest of
1066, and further back to the Nordic and Germanic peoples of ancient, continental Europe. It didn t
start here; their Caucasian ancestry was believed to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This vanguard of chosen people would see their noble sentiments of self government tainted by a
legacy of racial superiority that would contribute to the near extinction of Native Americans, the brutal
subjugation of African peoples, and a history of racial bigotry and strife. These entrenched racial
attitudes would reach a pinnacle in the first half of 19th Century America (Horsman intro),
culminating in the Civil War of 1861: one of the bloodiest wars in world history it left 600,000
Americans dead, white and black. That catastrophic conflict ended 150 years ago and we still have not
seen the end of the terrible manifestation of Anglo American racism. Midterm Question #1 part 1:
Race and ethnicity have played major roles in American social history. How do these constructs relate
to an explanation of what it means to be an American? The description of Africa as the dark
mysterious continent is a description that can also be applied to her continental sisters sharing similar
latitudes in the Western Hemisphere, the areas now known as Latin America. These continents, as well
as large parts of vast Asia, seem to be areas of the earth where many dark complected peoples reside.
Ironically these areas of mystery and darkness receive the most light from our sun, causing the
evolution of a protective coloring in the outer covering of the human body. Without

A History Of The Fraud
A History of the Fraud Bernie Madoff had his start on Wall Street beginning in the 1960s, gaining his
success as a broker, eventually offering him the opportunity to manage funds for people close to him.
News of his apparent ability to make gains and never lose money spread like wildfire throughout the
Wall Street community and eventually turned his small family business into a huge investment firm.
To reduce suspicion, Madoff maintained that his gains were because he was mitigating risk on his
stock purchases by exploiting options to hedge his portfolio. In the simplest form, this means that he
was telling people that he was engaging in a pretty common investment strategy, which is creating an
insurance plan for their investments by using put options. This is the agreement to sell the assets that
one has on or before a particular date, in case the assets decline in value at a rate unfavorable to the
purchaser. Although he was able to fool the majority of people, there were those who were suspicious
of his activity and alerted the SEC, almost causing Madoff s scandal to be exposed on several
occasions (Scheer, 2009). Most believe that his scheme began in the early 1980 s, Madoff, however,
claims that it had not begun until the 1990 s. It started with Madoff losing money, and therefore
having to make a decision either come clean to his investors that there was no money being made in
his portfolio, or find a way to fudge the numbers. He chose the latter. This forced

The Causes And Effects Of Overpopulation
Overpopulation is a concern as technology improves the quality of life for human beings. We are not
increasing population because of births but because people are now living longer. With twice as many
people now on Earth, our resources are depleting twice as fast. British Economist, Thomas Malthus,
wrote in his essay in 1798, that by not reducing human population, a human would surpass
agricultural productivity. However, his predictions never came true as innovative technology
preserved food from spoiling and birth rates began to drop. After two centuries since Malthus s claim,
economists believed that the early predictions of 12 million people by 2050, seemed far fetched. No
longer does society need to limit population but learn how to support the population it has. No one
knows for sure what Earth s carrying capacity is as it greatly depends on what humans are willing to
sacrifice to survive. It is estimated that the capacity is over a million and under a trillion. Today s
standard of living for most individuals far exceeds that of individuals 50 years ago. Technology has
advanced our expectations and increased our carbon foot print. The population is slowing down in
developed areas but growing in undeveloped areas. These areas population is growing at an alarming
rate and will be unable to support the growth rate. Investment in education, family planning services
and the status of women s rights play a crucial factor in a countries fertility rates.

Introduction
Negotiating is something that has been around since the beginning of mankind. We all start off
negotiating as little kids, even for little things such as candy and toys. When we grow up, negotiating
becomes sort of the norm. We negotiate consciously and subconsciously every single day. When you
think about it, negotiation takes up most of our lives. We are always trying to see what we can get as a
benefit without giving up much. It always comes down to the pie, how big is the pie and who can get
the biggest slice. As we become adults with careers, there are ever some that become flat our
Negotiators . This means that all they do for a living is negotiate. They are master negotiators and are
praised for being so. When it comes to negotiation, persuasion is also within that talent. You have to
be able to get what you want from people without them feeling like they are being taken advantage of
and that they are also getting just as big a piece of the pie as you are getting, although in reality they
are not. Negotiation Negotiation is all about a strategy. The end result is usually to end a problem that
someone is having, whether it is personally or

An Advertisement For Harley Davidson Insurance
An advertisement for Harley Davidson Insurance is found on page twenty three of the 2015 HOG
magazine Volume 32. In the advertisement a couple is seen standing by their Harley Davidson
motorcycle with the Rocky Mountains behind them in the distance. They are smiling toward each
other with a look that they are enjoying their time together. Atmosphere for the advertisement is
created by the couple appearing to be carefree while out for a ride on their motorcycle. Short focused
word phrases are used in the advertisement to get the reader s attention and help to pull a person into
wanting to buy or look at the product. There are three different layers that can be seen in the
advertisement. Those layers are the background, slogan, and main focus. Jib Fowles reveals basic
appeals to advertising with a list of fifteen different tactics that are used (Fowles). Harley Davidson
Insurance is using an advertisement strategy in their ad to emphasize the need to feel safe, by
providing insurance in a family atmosphere. The background paints the picture and the scenery for the
advertisement. There are mountains in the distance that resemble the Rocky Mountains. Before the
mountains begin to go to the top there is the woodland level with countless numbers of trees. The
mountains have snow on the tops and are vaguely seen through the light clouds in the sky. The
advertisement is in black and white, which shows that everything is calm and safe. Nothing is

Ephesians 3
During the first week the class was divided into eight small groups. Each group was given the task to
collectively agree on a common definition on the gospel founded in the Bible. During that time
students including myself had to compromise and possible argue their point. As I reflect on the
experience of working in a group to provide a working definition for the gospel three things stand out
persuasion, pressure, and practice. Persuasion from outside influences mainly NT Wright s book. In
my group one of the members was quickly persuaded by Wright i.e. The gospel is news not advise. As
christians I think we aren t to be easily persuaded. Ephesians 4 preaches supports this point well. And
he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for
the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and
of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness
of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by
every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Ephesians 4:11 14

Benefits Of Being A Mere Child
When we were but a mere child, the elders amongst our environment would often ask what we wanted
to be in the future. Many options come to mind, and most being the cliché answers that any child were
exposed to, such as a firefighter, or a police man. However, at that age, our knowledge of those fields
hardly encompassed precisely what those occupations routines were. Answering with these
occupations at that age wasn t true to exactly what would interest them in the future. For most
children, these answers would then change over time, while others continuously struggle to figure out
what it is they want to do. Fast forward a handful of years and you are now faced with the same
questions, except staring at an application you are to submit to potential colleges you want to attend.
Are we just as quick to answer these questions as we were when we were children? Or do we now
know less about what we want to be, since the options of occupation are much more vast and grand

Search Engine Optimization, Or Seo
Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a technical marketing discipline, the purpose of which is to
make a website relevant, reachable, and visible to users searching for keywords and topics. (Linkdex).
With an average of 3 billion web queries each day, internet search is critical for a business to gain
edge over its competition. SEO has become the standard for marketers as a way to be found in search
to attract qualified traffic and leads.
From a business perspective, SEO cannot be treated as a separate entity from a company s overall
marketing plan. In order to be successful, Search Engine Optimization considerations should play a
role in guiding the public relations, development, and marketing team efforts so that reputation, ...

Ranking is how the search engine decides to deliver the most relevant results to searchers
(Copyblogger). This is accomplished by algorithmic functions that rank search results based on the
best guess of what someone was really looking for during their web query.
One obvious coding technique that is used to optimize search ability is the strategic placement of
identifying search engine keywords in the HTML title tag, meta description tag, and header tags.
However, before a web developer can start optimizing his site for a certain keyword or phrase, he
needs to understand what keywords are the best fit for his business. To do so, a web developer may
use a keyword search tool such as Google AdWords, that provide targeted keywords that are relevant
to a web developer s audience, are pulling in a good amount of search traffic, and are not too difficult
to rank. After a web developer has researched and selected which keywords would best match his web
page, he must then start incorporating those keywords into important parts of the webpage. HTML
titles have always been and remain the most important HTML signal that search engines use to
understand what a page is about. Unique, descriptive titles are the most successful in being searched.
The meta description tag, one of the oldest supported HTML elements, allows you to suggest how you

Theory of Montage in Pudovkin’s, Eisenstein’s and Vertov’s...
Introduction
In the presented essay I will compare the style of work of selected artists in the montage of the film. I
will try to point out some general regularities and features of Soviet cinema. At the same time I will
try to capture especially what is common in their systems and similar or conversely what differ. For
my analysis, I will draw on the feature films of the Soviet avantgarde, namely these are the movies
The Battleship Potemkin (S. Eisenstein, 1925), Mother (V. Pudovkin, 1926) and The Man with a
movie camera (D. Vertov, 1929).
The School of montage

However his films are softer and more lyrical as Eisenstein, heroes are individualized and becomes an
important element of narrative. Right from the start Pudovkin went his innovator s way and element of
montage used to express continuity, not as Eisenstein for remittance conflict.
Pudovkin is dubbed as singer in the movie especially for the predominance of emotional elements of
intellectual. This doesn t mean that his revolutionary epopees are important only in terms of itself

film.
Different connections of contrasts (that were typical of the Eisenstein) by Pudovkin appear rarely.
Instead of these contrasts he used montage of analogies. For example, a second shot rarely used for
intensifying an impression from a first image. On the contrary, a director s effort is visible when a
main story line he tried to enrich it with new elements.
Mutually connected and unrelated images of outside the design concepts of director served to reveal to
inner state of the hero, as for example in the figure of the Mother.
Eisenstein s opinion was inclined to intellectual film, which lacked a fabulation and the main
character. Pudovkin understood a film as a relationship to the narrative.
Montage of the film Mother radiates peacefully from the story, from a particular environment, from
the heroes and it reaches metaphorical dimension. As we can see in the

Elizabethan England Women
The Elizabeth era is a unique period in Western European history as it is characterized by a woman
being in a charge of a successful reign. During Queen Elizabeth s monarchy, Renaissance became
more widespread and more of the nobility became educated in a humanist manner. Also, because
Protestantism was the official religion of the reign, more men of lower scales received an education as
well. William Shakespeare was one of those men. Theatre hit a hit point during Elizabethan England
and Shakespeare wrote many plays, including As You Like It. Although the play is a comedy, many
aspects from the story reflect trends of the England s Elizabethan period. Within the theme of
education in the nobility, the girls Rosalind and Celia are highly educated. ... Show more content on

money?
Sealed air was the packaging market leader in the US while its history has been characterized by

customers need while differentiating its products from contenders by barrier coating. They had two
types of products: the first was Instapak foam usually used for heavy items while the second was

If the firm do so, they can make money without harming its loyal customers perception. Besides, the
firm would create an opponent for GAFCEL with the help of this strategy. Moreover, the coated
products Sealed Air produce corresponding to GAFCEL s uncoated bubbles can be sold for a lower
price because of the fact that the firm makes at least 50% profit for all kind of coated bubbles
according to Table D. Since the profit margin is very high, the firm would sacrifice some part of it and
can both increase distributors earnings as well as decrease the product sale price. Moreover, Sealed
Air should put aside some budget for advertisements to support brand image. It should differentiate
itself from contenders while focusing on its products strength and quality. Moreover, they should
expand their product line to meet all kind of customers need.
5. Given your plan, what will be the impact on Sealed Air s business model?
Thanks to those implementations, Sealed Air could maintain its market leadership without harming the
brand image. Besides, lowering sale prices would make the firm gain price conscious customers as
well as increasing the distributor s profit margin would improve the firm and distributors relationship.
If it is possible, the firm would distribute Astro s uncoated bubble products to abroad that Sealed Air
would dominate European packaging market mostly served for the price conscious

Military Aspects Of A Nuclear Armed Iran
Military Aspects of a Nuclear Armed Iran The military dimensions of dealing with Iran would be
forever changed if Iran were to achieve a nuclear weapons capability. The ability to deal with Iran has
not significantly changed since the Tanker Wars in the 1980 s. Iran has slowly increased their
technology but has failed to produce any legitimate indigenous naval or air assets that would pose a
significant threat to United States Naval vessels or the United States superior air platforms. Iran

The global economy would be significantly changed because of the power that Iran would currently
hold over the Arabian Gulf. Once Iran achieves nuclear power it will likely start to flex it new power
and attempt to influence shipping and military presences in the Arabian Gulf. Since nearly 40% of the
world s oil is transported through the Arabian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz, a significant increase in
oil prices would be seen throughout the world. This problem could likely be exponentially increased if
Iran was to increase its military presence on the islands inside the Arabian Gulf in an attempt to limit
foreign military travel into the Arabian Gulf.
Potential Courses of Action The most diplomatic approach to taking action on Iran and its nuclear
programs would be to allow current sanctions to take their full affect and also the possibility of
increasing sanctions to further hinder and potentially cripple the economy of Iran if needed.
The United States has been implementing sanctions against Iran for many years, although recently, the
US has significantly increased the sanctions in an effort to force Iran to reconsider their nuclear
program.

Analyzing The Bonds Of Friendship Within Of Mice And Men
Analyzing the Bonds of Friendship Within Of Mice and Men Of mice and men by John Steinbeck
narrates a story of two friends, George and Lennie, and their lives together as farm workers in
California in the 1930s. Steinbeck chose the setting to empathize the effects a simple friendship can
have on someone living during that time period. In the 30s, in California, jobs were hard to get and
most jobs for unlettered men like George and Lennie, was farm work. Because income was scarce,
farm workers rarely had companions. When someone is both working and living with little to no
human interaction, they begin to feel lonely which grows into hatred for themselves and others.
Steinbeck uses the setting to distinctly show readers what friendships ... Show more content on

It reveals to readers one of the many ties of George and Lennie s friendship, this example being trust.
George asks for the mouse, give it here! (Steinbeck 6), and Lennie s hand slowly obeyed (6). Giving
George the mouse presents to readers the amount of faith Lennie has in George, because even after
George rudely asks for the mouse Lennie still hands George the mouse. The faith Lennie has for
George is what causes him to give up his dead mouse since he knows that George wouldn t purposely
do something to deject him but that George may be protecting him from the unknown. The trust in
their relationship allows George and Lennie to confide in each other about what no one else knows of
them and to act like their true selves around each other. In the story readers see that most farm workers
don t befriend others easily because they don t have the trust that George and Lennie have for one
another. Throughout the story, Steinbeck continues demonstrating the trust between the two friends,
showing readers how trust can strengthen an already sturdy friendship. Referencing to the same quote,
readers not only see the trust Lennie has for George, but also the care George has for Lennie. As
previously stated, George takes on the role of protecting Lennie as a parent would a child, which also
impacts the care George has for Lennie. Any other person who knew that Lennie was keeping and

Eisenhower and Patton Comparison Essay
General Eisenhower and General Patton:
A Comparison
Zerrrouk (PN)
From a fiercely brave General, who strictly enforces customs, bravery, formalities, and success; to a
General with a lighthearted mood, down to earth attitude, a steadfast courage, and a integrity and
decency to lead the nations of the world into battle; while both these legendary Generals fought on the
same side, both General S. Patton and General D. Eisenhower were distinctly different Generals. This
paper seeks to outline the differences and similarities between the two Generals by taking a close look
at their lives, and the impacts they had on WWII.

For this action he was stripped of his command over the 2nd Armored Division in Africa. Patton could
not stand to have a soldier that was anything less than what he thought a true soldier should represent.
Patton believes that courage and fear are phenomena which can be governed by training and
discipline, and that fear is lost through intense training and patriotism. Patton did not hate his men, but
he didn t want to see his soldiers hospitalized as injured men with battle fatigue or neurosis, but as a
spectacle of American bravery. Visiting his troops in the hospital got him emotional and he state once
that, They re the best damned soldiers the world has ever seen. One day I bawl the hell out of them
and the next I weep over them.
Patton was relieved of active duty until he was summoned by Eisenhower to lead the 3rd American
army in the breakthrough Normandy. Eisenhower, more than anybody, knew the talents that Patton
had in war; and with the 3rd American Army, Patton cut through the German lines all the way to
Rennes, and then to Nantes, and then stopped at Metz for gas and munitions. Patton was always a step
ahead of everyone especially the Germans. After the push stopped, Patton was ordered to move from
Saar and attack General Von Rundstedt which was deemed impossible by others but not Patton. After
Rundstedt was captured, Rundstedt gave a high praise to Patton for his

Analysis Of The Movie The Heart Of The Sea
December is usually a time of celebration where most people enjoy the holidays loved ones. Unlike
every other year, this season will include a blockbuster film that is loosely based off the classic tale,
Moby Dick. However, the trailers for In the Heart of the Sea, directed by Ron Howard, are based of a
book version with the same title. The abstract idea of this movie sounds phenomenal, but the when it
comes to the teaser trailer that is supposed to be about a giant whale, it did not seem to make a splash.
The movie is not slated to be released until December 11, 2015, but it is clear to see that the teaser
trailer has given the movie a negative vibe. Luckily, the official trailer was released about a month
later, and it has revived the film through the extremely well crafted usage of plot details, appropriate
music, and dialogue.
Ron Howard started his career as a child actor on the classic television shows. Soon later he began
breaking the barrier into movies, and Howard convinced Roger Corman, a producer, to help him direct
Howard s film project. Three years later, Howard evolved into a well established movie director. Mr.
Howard has now directed many movies that have resulted in success. For example, he is the genius
behind the movie, Apollo 13 (Ron Howard Biography). The award winning director s latest project
has had a difficult beginning, but is now steadily evolving into a great film thanks to the official
trailer.

Migrant workers are willing to do the jobs that local workers don t want to do and they value their

employers in Canada and the U.S. also benefit from migrant workers. With the lowest payment,
sometimes they even don t get paid at all, employers save a lot on their cost, what s more, migrant

Critique of Bentham s Quantitative Utilitarianism
Over time, the actions of mankind have been the victim of two vague labels, right and wrong. The
criteria for these labels are not clearly defined, but they still seem to be the standard by which the
actions of man are judged. There are some people that abide by a deontological view when it comes to
judging the nature of actions; the deontological view holds that it is a person s intention that makes an
action right or wrong. On the other hand there is the teleological view which holds that it is the result
of an action is what makes that act right or wrong. In this essay I will be dealing with utilitarianism, a
philosophical principle that holds a teleological view when it comes the nature of actions. To solely

The interest of the community is said to be a sum of the total interests of its several members. It is
never specified what how exactly this total is acquired or even if the members of the community
would agree on whatever is considered the community s interest. If the members would agree then that
means that everyone in the community had the same interest to begin with. If the members would not
agree, then how can you go about adding up their conflicting interests? These interests, when
attempting to get a total seem like they would cancel each other out which wouldn t make for much of
sum total. Things of this nature (individual interests) are so relative that it would be impossible as well
as pointless to even try to place any kind of concrete value, which brings up another point. What kind
of value are these individual and community interests supposed to have? In order to add things up they
must have some sort of value. Because of Bentham s failure to offer some sort of method for
combining individuals interests and since he failed to offer some sort of concrete value for these
abstract things, his perspective on the interest of the community remains unclear to me.
The second issue that I am going to take up lies in Bentham s method of calculating the general
tendency of an act that affects a community s interest. For starters, the process itself is too

Whole Foods has already bought its largest competitor, Wild Oats, which has shown to be profitable.
By promoting organic foods Whole Foods can increase sales and attract new customers by introducing
them to the Whole Foods experience. Whole Foods would benefit not only by promoting itself but the
industry in general. In addition to promoting organic foods, they could enhance their brand image and
loyalty by continuing their community service efforts. If the industry continues to grow and they
continue to bring about brand awareness and loyalty, Whole Foods could strengthen its market share
and profitability. The key threats that Whole Foods faces include: local grocers increasing their
organic food options, the size of Whole Foods stores deterring customers, and the price of organic
foods. Local grocers could potentially take away from Whole Foods sales by stealing the customers
that want to get in and get out. If customers can get the organic foods they want at a smaller grocery
store, some customers may switch to them. This is where the size of Whole Foods stores becomes a
threat to themselves. If they continue to buy and build large stores they could potentially deter some of
their consumers to the smaller grocers in the area. Also what is a threat now is the high price of
organic foods. Consumers must pay a premium for these items because they cost more to produce.

The Discovery Of Antibiotics And Medicine Essay
The discovery of antibiotics is arguably the greatest contribution to modern medicine. The widespread
use of antibiotics along with vaccines had paved the way for the treatment and cure for many of the
otherwise fatal bacteria diseases and this led to a decline in the mortality rates in the mid 20th century.
The use of antibiotics in medicine today to treat diseases have not all been met with positive
outcomes. As a matter of fact, its relative ease of access and abundance has given rise to a major
problem in creating new strains of bacteria that are able to resist our antibiotics today. Such is the case
for a special type of bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, a gram positive bacterium with a spherical shape
which in some strains of this particular species has ultimately developed resistance to virtually all
antibiotics we have present today. Staphylococcus aureus is often found on skin surfaces in humans
colonizing about 30% of the human population [1]. They generally are not pathogenic until they enter
inside the body through an open wound or colonize other areas of the body of which they generally
are not found [1]. Staphylococcus aureus commonly cause non fatal skin diseases such as folliculitis,
cellulitis and abscesses however, they can invade the circulatory system and cause a serious infection
known as bacteremia [1,9]. Bacteremia is often common in a hospital setting where patients are
exposed to invasive procedures such as surgeries which allow colonies of S.

  • 2. Analysis Of The Unluckiest Generation My oldest sister has always been a hard worker. She was the top percent of her class, always has good grades and graduated with a high GPA. She even did all this with a job. But when she attempted to be an adult and rent an apartment with her friend it didn t go as planned and she later moved back in with us. Many of these situations like this happen to this generation why? what is causing this delay in adulthood? In the article the unluckiest generation: what will become of the millennials , Derek Thompson explains why generation Y is unluckiest economically. Throughout the article Thompson goes back and forth giving negative and positive things generation Y has. Thompson mentions how generation Y has gone through many terrible events, but it did not prepare them for the economic sledgehammer after the collapse of the market. He states that this can affect generation Y for the rest of their working lives. Thompson argues that because of the bad economy, adults are not moving out their parents home and is causing millennials not to buy houses. He believe that because generation Y is not buying houses or cars it is causing the economy not to move forward. He acknowledges that this generation is the most educated but that it also comes with problems. However, Thompson includes the positives of cheaper food, apparel, and entertainment. In the article, generation nice by Sam Tanenhaus, he talks about how millennials receive a lot of attention compared to other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Gaseous Substance PVD is similar to CVD but the plasma is induced from solid material through ionisation of a gaseous substance (sputtering) or through evaporation. Processing is done in a vacuum, where the deposition material is excited with plasma to form vapour. Reactive gas is then introduced which reacts with the vapour and the resulting compound adheres to the substrate. Parts undergo multiaxial rotation to produce uniform coating thickness. This is a high temperature process, generally 400 800K, generally used when electro plating is not viable.12 14 As with CVD, there are multiple process variants including evaporation, ion plating and sputtering PVD. Commonly, it is used to repair abrasively damaged components due to ease of implementation and portability. Comparatively, this process uses low temperature, so no metallurgical substrate changes occur, minimising dimensional changes due to material distortion. Disadvantages include the line of sight nature of the process, only allowing coatings deposition on visible surfaces. This makes coating small or deep cavities difficult and therefore other deposition techniques must be used.12,16 An overview of these and additional surface processing techniques is given in Figure 4.5. Many techniques exist to affect the surface properties of materials without altering chemical composition, referred to as surface hardening. Commonly this is done by flame hardening, induction hardening and shot peening. Additionally, surfaces can be hardened by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Rene Descartes Second Meditation Essay René Descartes, a rationalist philosopher finds uncertainty in almost everything, including his senses, memory, body and the physical world. Everything besides the fact he himself is a res cogitans (thinking thing). He puts forth this idea in his second meditation of his most famous works, Meditations On First Philosophy, published in 1641. This analytic style of writing opens by considering any belief that was the slightest bit doubtful, as false. Descartes felt the need for this hyperbolic doubt in order to reach an impartial truth. He then takes you through the thought process that led him to the one thing that lies beyond all doubt. He finds certainty in the statement Cogito, ergo sum or I think, therefore I am. FOOTNOTE The first Meditation in Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy, is based on doubting almost everything he once believed as true. When Descartes found that beliefs he had were false, he realized all of his beliefs could be threatened. He embraced scepticism and refused to accept anything that it is possible to ... Descartes wonders if this means he simply does not exist? Although for him to convince himself that his beliefs are false, he must exist. Like a ship in the night. You have found the place . The comparison really expresses the feeling that someone would get if they were lost at sea and seen a light house then they would be filled with a huge amount of happiness and a sense of safety. In lines closely following, she compares seeing the distant shore when someone is lost at sea to being in a safe and happy relationship when she says, You ve been looking for. Like a distant shore. • 10. Relationship Between Tom Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson Fitzgerald developes Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson as unlikable, unjust and careless characters in this passage in chapter two. Myrtle Wilson is married to George Wilson, while Tom Buchanan is married to Daisy. The two have an affair and use the small apartment in New York to be together. Cheating is unethical and is often frowned upon. This may be one of the reasons why Fitzgerald decided to portray the two characters the way he did. Fitzgerald uses word choice, diction and detail to develop the two characters. Myrtle Wilson, in the second paragraph, let four taxi cabs drive past before she selected one. This diction used by the author develops Myrtle as a high maintenance character. On the top of the second page, she asks if the dog was a boy or a girl very delicately. FItzgerald used the word delicately to further develop Myrtle as a delicate and frail character. This setting is a description of the plot in the films Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock (1954) and Disturbia by D.J Carusso(2007).These two films contain many similar themes which are a part of the movie s plot but are slightly different. The two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The films are so alike in comparison and little in contrast that it would lead you to believe that Disturbia is a modern remake of Rear window. First off let s discuss the voyeurism presented in both of the films. In the film Rear window Jeff is shown on numerous occasions was shown watching a woman from his window dancing and, changing in her underwear while smiling at the sight. This form of voyeurism is shown in Disturbia when kale is also shown watching his neighbor Ashley from his window on many occasions while she is swimming and changing clothes. (Worth 50 points) note: I felt it was more logical for my purposes to place part 2 first. The English view of race developed directly from their perceptions of themselves, from the ideas of their own racial origins, their own ethnocentricity. This perception became a concept that had its roots in 16th and 17th Century England. • 16. A History Of The Fraud A History of the Fraud Bernie Madoff had his start on Wall Street beginning in the 1960s, gaining his success as a broker, eventually offering him the opportunity to manage funds for people close to him. News of his apparent ability to make gains and never lose money spread like wildfire throughout the Wall Street community and eventually turned his small family business into a huge investment firm. To reduce suspicion, Madoff maintained that his gains were because he was mitigating risk on his stock purchases by exploiting options to hedge his portfolio. In the simplest form, this means that he was telling people that he was engaging in a pretty common investment strategy, which is creating an insurance plan for their investments by using put options. This is the agreement to sell the assets that one has on or before a particular date, in case the assets decline in value at a rate unfavorable to the purchaser. Although he was able to fool the majority of people, there were those who were suspicious of his activity and alerted the SEC, almost causing Madoff s scandal to be exposed on several occasions (Scheer, 2009). Most believe that his scheme began in the early 1980 s, Madoff, however, claims that it had not begun until the 1990 s. It started with Madoff losing money, and therefore having to make a decision either come clean to his investors that there was no money being made in his portfolio, or find a way to fudge the numbers. We are not increasing population because of births but because people are now living longer. With twice as many people now on Earth, our resources are depleting twice as fast. British Economist, Thomas Malthus, wrote in his essay in 1798, that by not reducing human population, a human would surpass agricultural productivity. However, his predictions never came true as innovative technology preserved food from spoiling and birth rates began to drop. After two centuries since Malthus s claim, economists believed that the early predictions of 12 million people by 2050, seemed far fetched. No longer does society need to limit population but learn how to support the population it has. No one knows for sure what Earth s carrying capacity is as it greatly depends on what humans are willing to sacrifice to survive. It is estimated that the capacity is over a million and under a trillion. Today s standard of living for most individuals far exceeds that of individuals 50 years ago. Technology has advanced our expectations and increased our carbon foot print. The population is slowing down in developed areas but growing in undeveloped areas. The abstract idea of this movie sounds phenomenal, but the when it comes to the teaser trailer that is supposed to be about a giant whale, it did not seem to make a splash. The movie is not slated to be released until December 11, 2015, but it is clear to see that the teaser trailer has given the movie a negative vibe. Luckily, the official trailer was released about a month later, and it has revived the film through the extremely well crafted usage of plot details, appropriate music, and dialogue. Ron Howard started his career as a child actor on the classic television shows. Soon later he began breaking the barrier into movies, and Howard convinced Roger Corman, a producer, to help him direct Howard s film project. Three years later, Howard evolved into a well established movie director. Mr. Howard has now directed many movies that have resulted in success. For example, he is the genius behind the movie, Apollo 13 (Ron Howard Biography). The award winning director s latest project has had a difficult beginning, but is now steadily evolving into a great film thanks to the official trailer. In the Heart of the Sea is completely set ... Their main effort involves identifying and creating the Soldier of 2025 that will fight to win any complex operating environment. This would mean that each recruiter would be responsible for one appointment each day. It may seem easier to make one appointment each day, but other daily recruiting tasks happen as well. Some recruiting centers are remote and driving applicants to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) can take a full day resulting in loss of time to make the daily appointment requirement. Arriving back at the center late and with all the other recruiters at home, a recruiter might choose to log a fake or made up appointment in order to go home. Other daily activities that consume Soldiers time are driving to colleges and high schools, training future Soldiers on basic training tasking, going to gather source documents so applicants can enlist birth certificates, medical and law documents. Time is never on a recruiter s side. It always seems that there is never enough time in the day. Recruiters do not always have control of the day by day plan that they created to be successful in achieving the appointments required from their leaders. They have daily distractions that disrupt their plan constantly and in most cases, it ends up being not their fault. They plan, assess, and execute their plan. Despite the huge marches in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles, many immigrants skipped the boycott either for fear of losing their jobs or because they simply could not afford to lose even a single day s wages (Hamilton). They treat wages more than everything. At the same time, employers in Canada and the U.S. also benefit from migrant workers. With the lowest payment, sometimes they even don t get paid at all, employers save a lot on their cost, what s more, migrant workers are usually not able to enjoy the same rights and benefits as locals, even though they are supposed to have the same rights and benefits as local workers, ... • 33. Critique of Bentham s Quantitative Utilitarianism Over time, the actions of mankind have been the victim of two vague labels, right and wrong. The criteria for these labels are not clearly defined, but they still seem to be the standard by which the actions of man are judged. There are some people that abide by a deontological view when it comes to judging the nature of actions; the deontological view holds that it is a person s intention that makes an action right or wrong. On the other hand there is the teleological view which holds that it is the result of an action is what makes that act right or wrong. In this essay I will be dealing with utilitarianism, a philosophical principle that holds a teleological view when it comes the nature of actions. To solely discuss utilitarianism is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interest of the community is said to be a sum of the total interests of its several members. It is never specified what how exactly this total is acquired or even if the members of the community would agree on whatever is considered the community s interest. If the members would agree then that means that everyone in the community had the same interest to begin with. If the members would not agree, then how can you go about adding up their conflicting interests? These interests, when attempting to get a total seem like they would cancel each other out which wouldn t make for much of sum total. Things of this nature (individual interests) are so relative that it would be impossible as well as pointless to even try to place any kind of concrete value, which brings up another point. What kind of value are these individual and community interests supposed to have? In order to add things up they must have some sort of value. Because of Bentham s failure to offer some sort of method for combining individuals interests and since he failed to offer some sort of concrete value for these abstract things, his perspective on the interest of the community remains unclear to me. The second issue that I am going to take up lies in Bentham s method of calculating the general tendency of an act that affects a community s interest. For starters, the process itself is too ... Whole Foods has already bought its largest competitor, Wild Oats, which has shown to be profitable. By promoting organic foods Whole Foods can increase sales and attract new customers by introducing them to the Whole Foods experience. Whole Foods would benefit not only by promoting itself but the industry in general. In addition to promoting organic foods, they could enhance their brand image and loyalty by continuing their community service efforts. If the industry continues to grow and they continue to bring about brand awareness and loyalty, Whole Foods could strengthen its market share and profitability. The key threats that Whole Foods faces include: local grocers increasing their organic food options, the size of Whole Foods stores deterring customers, and the price of organic foods. Local grocers could potentially take away from Whole Foods sales by stealing the customers that want to get in and get out. If customers can get the organic foods they want at a smaller grocery store, some customers may switch to them. This is where the size of Whole Foods stores becomes a threat to themselves. If they continue to buy and build large stores they could potentially deter some of their consumers to the smaller grocers in the area. Also what is a threat now is the high price of organic foods. • 36. The Discovery Of Antibiotics And Medicine Essay The discovery of antibiotics is arguably the greatest contribution to modern medicine. The widespread use of antibiotics along with vaccines had paved the way for the treatment and cure for many of the otherwise fatal bacteria diseases and this led to a decline in the mortality rates in the mid 20th century. The use of antibiotics in medicine today to treat diseases have not all been met with positive outcomes. As a matter of fact, its relative ease of access and abundance has given rise to a major problem in creating new strains of bacteria that are able to resist our antibiotics today. Such is the case for a special type of bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, a gram positive bacterium with a spherical shape which in some strains of this particular species has ultimately developed resistance to virtually all antibiotics we have present today. Staphylococcus aureus is often found on skin surfaces in humans colonizing about 30% of the human population [1]. They generally are not pathogenic until they enter inside the body through an open wound or colonize other areas of the body of which they generally are not found [1]. Staphylococcus aureus commonly cause non fatal skin diseases such as folliculitis, cellulitis and abscesses however, they can invade the circulatory system and cause a serious infection known as bacteremia [1,9]. Bacteremia is often common in a hospital setting where patients are exposed to invasive procedures such as surgeries which allow colonies of S. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
